Every single day runs together that is my toughest experience when it comes to being a stay at home Dad. Every single day runs together.

Children needs stability. It’s one of the things that is very crucial to their overall development. When they are young, they are absorbing so much about the world around them and the best way to help them manage. All of that information is to establish a routine put them in an environment that they are familiar with so you take them to the same places you go to the same parks to go to the same stores you watch the same shows on Television. You eat the same foods you wear the same clothes. You build a routine every single day. Now there are times when small details of your routine change there are times when you may switch up the activities or the schedule just because some unforeseen event has taken place. Maybe your kid is sick and now their sleep schedule has been thrown off. Maybe you have family that has come to visit and so everyone’s routine has to change in order to accommodate these guests for the time that they are spending with you. But other than those type of circumstances, you have a routine and that routine becomes so ingrained in your way of life that every day truly begins to run together.

Many people have said to me raising kids as a marathon and not a sprint. I agree, but I would add that there are parts of that marathon where you pull over to the side and have to run on a treadmill for an extended period of time. The routine become so predictable that you start feeling like life is not going anywhere. For example, right now, I am having an all out war With my own psyche. Self-esteem has never been more out of whack. It’s what inspired me to start writing these chapters and giving you the reader an opportunity to look into the thoughts that I’m having. A small part of me keeps repeating this notion that I am not doing anything with my life. Every day of my life is spent at home was two kids doing the same things with them all the time. This lifestyle does not bring in substantial income. This lifestyle does not lend itself to creating opportunities. This is not expose me to the world at large. To stay at home parent is not Someone who should be focused on travel. It’s not in my kids best interest to overload them with new experiences. At least not yet. Those days are coming.

I very often find myself Bored and that brings a lot of shame to me shortly after. I don’t want to be bored of my children. I don’t want to admit that, but if I were being completely honest, boredom is a very prominent feeling that you have when you’re the parent who stays at home. This caused me to dislike my children in anyway absolutely not, I do believe some parents choose resentment towards their children when they are met with these uncomfortable feelings. Many of us do not know how we would process these type of emotions, especially when we do not have children ourselves. But the children are never to blame for whatever you are feeling on the inside as an adult. Because there’s nothing that you have given them that they asked for there’s nothing that you provided for them that entitled you to feel as though they must take the blame or pay some sort of price tag. It’s because you want them into this world.

They’re just kids

The Boredom and routine can absolutely provide a lot of positives. Especially if you understand that there is a purpose for every season in your life. Sometimes you are meant to be moving a mile a minute sometimes you are meant to be crossing to rain and battling obstacles on a daily basis. Sometimes there is a season in your life where you need to be on high alert and you need to be equipped to take on a variety of experiences and opportunities because that is what is meant for you. And I think as my kids grow, it will be my job to show them how they navigate those types of seasons in their life. It will be my job to help them, understand what their strengths and weaknesses look like, and provide them the runway to grow into highly intelligent and accomplished human beings.

But that runway that I am looking to provide starts with a routine. It starts with the mundane. And what I realize in this time of stagnation is that I immense to build confidence build understanding, build patience within myself. The time on this treadmill is specifically meant to strengthen my heart and soul and abilities to be the best father that I can be for both of my kids. So while I may feel the stress and I may struggle with the emotions attached to this unyielding Boredom. I know for a fact that there is a purpose behind it, and it will all make sense one day.

Every single day runs together. Because they are all teaching me one big lesson.
