Every month, when I pull our next archetype, I try not to decide what I think should happen next before I see the card that’s been chosen. Obviously, there is a story developing and we have been following it for months now, but I don’t want to become so attached to that story that I start looking for the card I think should come next. We have to pay attention to what actually does and value the message it has for us regardless of what we are anticipating.

And this month, we pulled The Rider. After everything we just did with the Book, it feels almost literal.

The Book asked us to discover. We spent the last month looking for the story that has already been unfolding underneath everything we’ve been doing. We looked at inherited giftedness, the things that feel almost strangely natural to us, where those things are already showing themselves in our external lives, and how we should learn to work with them. The Rider invites us to move with it now.

I don’t think this card is simply telling us that it’s time to move forward, though. There is something else here that I think is worth noting. The Rider in the Gypsy Witch deck is overwhelmingly positive. The card itself calls the Rider a “sure sign of good news” unless modified by a particular surrounding card. So why do we need to be told that? Why would we need a card to come along and say yes, this is good, keeping going, move forward, if we already perceived the thing in front us that way?

And that is where I think September’s work actually begins.

A Deep Dive into Meaning, Language, and the Stories We Are Learning to Read

As we continue our work with the archetype of the Book in our Lenormand Gypsy Wtich Deck Study, I wanted this quarter’s deep dive to connect us with a celestial energy that mirrors something I believe we are now being asked to practice.

Just as I shared in our Saturn and Jupiter quarters, this isn’t intended to be an astrology lesson. My hope isn’t that you leave here memorizing planetary meanings or becoming fluent in astrological technique. My hope is that you begin developing a relationship with the symbolic language of the heavens. I hope it is one that helps you understand your own inner landscape. Mercury is usually introduced to us as the planet of communication. And while that certainly isn’t wrong, I wonder if communication is actually the end of a much more interesting process.

Before we can communicate something, we have to make it intelligible. An experience becomes a thought, or a feeling becomes language, an instinct becomes understanding. Something sensed internally finds an expression in the external world. Mercury translates it.

There is a tendency, particularly when we are learning tarot, to approach the cards with the expectation that they should tell us something we do not already know. We ask questions because we want answers. We pull a card and immediately begin searching its imagery, correspondences, traditional meanings, and associations for some piece of information we have not yet uncovered. But tarot doesn’t always function through revelation. Sometimes, its purpose is recognition.

A card can place an image in front of us that gives form to something we have already sensed but have not yet trusted enough to name. In these moments, the reading isn’t necessarily providing new information. It is creating a symbolic container through which existing knowledge can become conscious. Learning to recognize the difference is an important part of developing a personal relationship with the cards.

As we begin wind down on our journey with the Woman card, I encourage you to take some time and reflect upon the month. I find that when we have pause moments that last a month it is really easy to not acknowledge what’s happened in the quieter energies.

And I am sure that this Mercury Rx has overshadowed the point it had within this month and under the umbrella of the Woman Archetype as we met it. The Woman Archetype: Recognizing the One Who Cultivates

There are moment are moments within every healing journey when growth becomes difficult to recognize. Not because nothing is changing, but because transformation rarely announces itself. It unfolds quietly through small decisions, repeated choices, restored boundaries, and moments of self-trust. It awakens during the gradual rebuilding of al ife that begins to reflect who we truly are instead of who survival taught us to become. It is within these soft, often overlooked moments that the Woman archetype emerges.

She does not arrive asking us to become someone new. Instead, she invites us to pause long enough to recognize the person who has already begun to take shape. If earlier stages of growth asked us to build stability and create supportive conditions, the Woman asks us to begin cultivating what those conditions have allowed to grow.

When we reduce astrology to prediction or personality descriptions, we often miss something much richer. The planets become less about telling us what will happen and more about revealing principles that have always been woven into creation. For many people, Jupiter has become synonymous with luck, abundance, or getting more. While those ideas certainly have their place, I don’t believe they capture the heart of what Jupiter is inviting us into.

To me, Jupiter is not the planet of having more. It’s the planet of capacity. It’s the planet that shows us how much we can hold of what is within our own authentic sense of being. This is important to consider. Healthy things expand because they have been cultivated well. A flourishing tree doesn’t strive to produce fruit through force. It grows because its roots have deepened, the soil has been tended, and it has developed the capacity to support what naturally wishes to emerge. The same is true for us.

Throughout this month, we’ve been exploring the archetype of the House, which emerged as a result of the Shepherd and Saturn, with the clearances afforded in Lightning. Now, with a place that is nourished, protected and given the right conditions, we are in a place where we can invite in the flourishing nature of Jupiter. Now we can learn from this planet where we were too limited before. And what perfect timing with Mercury Retrograde on our heels, conjunct Jupiter.

One of the ideas Spirit continued bringing me back to while preparing this teaching is that perhaps our greatest gifts are rarely things we acquire. More often, they are things we uncover. Our culture constantly asks us what we want to become, but I wonder if Spirit is asking us a quieter question. What has already been entrusted to you? What gifts have quietly followed you your entire life? What ways of seeing, creating, nurturing, gathering, healing, teaching, or building have always felt natural?

Jupiter doesn’t simply expand our lives. It expands our relationship with what has already been planted within us. That is where I want us to begin.
