The intention of this book is to help you understand the Universe and the purpose of your life within it from a yogic perspective. According to yogic teachings, and the teachings of all the world religions and spiritual traditions, there is a purpose to human life. As individuations of the source consciousness of the Universe we are here to come into union with universal consciousness. This is the meaning of Yoga. I had the good fortune to have been shown how to achieve this. My gratitude is to use science to help you to better understand the Universe and achieve your full potential.

Thousands of years ago, between 200 – 400 BCE the Patanjali Yoga Sutras were compiled. In Sutra 3.45 the mystical siddhi powers of Yogis were described in detail. One of these, the anima siddhi is the ability to shrink to the size of the atom. According to yogic philosophy and esoteric traditions, yogis exercising the anima siddhi perceived the atom not as solid matter but as a system of vortices of prana. They saw the three qualities of nature (gunas), stability, action, and light, originating not from material particles like dust but from the swirling action of energy setting up stability through spin. Yogis in ancient India literally saw quantum spin.

This ancient yogic view strongly matches modern quantum field theory. Today, science knows that atoms are mostly empty space, and what we perceive as “solid” is believed to be the interaction of localized quantum fields and energy frequencies. Thousands of years ago the yogis bypassed physical instruments entirely using their own consciousness as a super-microscope to witness this quantum reality and see what scientists missed; quantum vortices.

Prior to the development of quantum theory in the early 20th century, esoteric researchers Annie Besant and Charles Leadbeater were researching atomic and subatomic structures and had their ground breaking studies published in Occult Chemistry, by the Theosophy Society of London, in 1908. Since 1895 they had utilized the methods outlined in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras called ‘samyama’ (intense meditative concentration on matter) to trigger the microscopic vision described as the anima siddhi. Repeating the yogic technique of zooming their consciousness into the structure of fundamental particles they documented that these consisted of swirling string-like strands which they called “whorls”. They saw these strings as a dynamic force (prana) pouring into vortices from higher, unseen dimensions. They perceived the spin as minute whirlpools of light. Furthermore, in the subatomic vortices they observed two kinds of vortex motion, one where the energy flows outwards from the centre, analogous to water rising from a spring and one where it flows inwards, analogous to a drain of water.

My discovery of fundamental particles as vortices of energy was not from Theosophy but from a book I read in 1964 on yogic philosophy. Besant and Leadbeater died some thirty years earlier so I feel I picked up from where they left off and have taken the subatomic vortex model further by developing it into a theory that complies with experimental physics. My concept of spinning lines of energy corresponded to their whorls but in my model, as the energy strands or strings would be free to spin ‘every which way’, I suggested they would form uniform ball vortices, much like balls of wool. That enabled me to explain why corpuscular subatomic particles have no measurable axes of spin normally associated with vortices. It is because the orientation of spin would be continually changing. However the spin into or out of the vortex centre, in my model, matched precisely the Leadbeater perception of energy flowing outwards from the centre, as if out of a spring, or flowing inwards, as if into a drain. These opposite directions of spin I identified as the source of positive and negative charges, which I associated with the ancient Chinese concept of Yin and Yang.

The Besant and Leadbeater discoveries were part of the metaphysical discipline of Theosophy, founded in the nineteenth century by Helena P. Blavatsky. The theosophical teachings were very much in line with yogic understandings of the Universe and the subsequent theosophical ratification of the yogic discoveries of vortex energy supports the historical precedent of this missing link in our understanding of the Universe. It seems to me that quantum mechanics, as an attempt to explain energy entirely in terms of waves, presents only half the picture. Meanwhile most scientists, unable to understand how energy forms mass, have been deluded by vortex spin to believe in the falsehood of materialism. The yogis would describe this material delusion as Maya: the illusion of forms. It is clear that the yogic concept of maya originated from their direct perception of quantum spin. Yoga has a vital part to play in the advancement of science. The yogic view of reality can provide understandings of fundamentals sorely lacking in science .

Materialist scientists believe nothing exists apart from the material world we can see and touch but that view is fallacious. If vortex spin can lead to the delusion of material substance it proves we cannot trust our perception of reality. By contrast, accepting the yogic perception of subatomic vortices we not only shatter the fable of materialism but open the door to acceptance of the higher dimensions of reality, from which Charles Leadbeater saw the prana originating. The logic is simple. If subatomic particles are whirlpools of light it is obvious they would not be able to move faster than the speed of the light forming them. However, there is no reason why energy based on speeds faster than the speed of light - which I call superenergy – might not vibrate in waves and spin in vortices to form worlds beyond our normal perception. As lesser speeds are a part of greater speeds, the world of energy, we inhabit, could be but a small part of a vast Universe of super-speed energy. On the basis of this idea an account emerges for near-death experiences, the immortal soul and spiritual dimensions.

With advances in critical care medicine, near-death experiences have become commonplace. The superenergy hypothesis accounts for them by showing how we could have a body of superenergy that animates the physical body through resonance. When the physical body dies the resonance ceases and the superenergy soul-body separates to continue life in its own ‘spiritual’ dimension.

The evidence of near-death experiences supports belief in life-after-death and the other great teaching that comes out of India; reincarnation. A core teaching in yoga is that reincarnation is a trap. Yogis say we can only break free from bondage to the cycles of reincarnation (known as Samsara) by eradicating karma and dissolving ignorance through spiritual realization.

The main mechanism of bondage to the wheel of life is ignorance (Avidya) where we mistake our temporary ego, mind, and body for our true, immortal self. Then there is attachment and aversion. As we crave pleasure and fear pain we establish mental impressions (samskaras) that we carry from one life to the next binding us ever more strongly to samsara. Added to this there are the chains of karma. Every action driven by personal ego produces a karmic debt, which binds the soul to future births in order to experience and suffer the consequences of our actions and settle our karma.

Yogis utilize specific practices to break the karmic chain of cause and effect and attain freedom from the wheel of life. First there is the Path of Knowledge (Jnana Yoga) where discernment is cultivated through study, discourse (Satsang) and meditation to realize that we are not the body or the meandering mind, but are individuations of consciousness witnessing thoughts, words and deeds. Through us God, the Life in each one of us, is perceiving the world.

The Path of Action is Karma Yoga. By the performance of duty and selfless service, without clinging to the fruits or rewards of actions, we stop the accumulation of new binding karma.

Finally there is Bhakti Yoga, the path of devotion. This is the simplest and sweetest yoga because the devotion of love and surrender to our inner divinity allows our ego to dissolve into a higher reality. We melt into the grace. It is the easiest way. Devotion to a saint or a deity, a god or a guru enables them save us from samsara. By the omnipotent presence of God consciousness coming through them, known as Darshan, we can be saved from the ocean of delusion.

When I was eight I was taught by the nuns that God made me to know Him, love Him and serve Him in this world so I can be forever together with Him in the next. God is genderless so Him is also Her. I have never forgotten that teaching. It defined my life purpose. My work in science is intended to help others realise this too.

My search for God in physics began at sixteen when I stumbled across An Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy ¹ I read that yogis had perceived the smallest particles of matter to be vortices of energy. Using their siddhi powers they saw that atoms are formed of whirlpools of light. Centuries before Einstein yogis cracked the greatest enigma in science; how energy forms mass. Mass is a measure of the inertia of a body. It is its resistance to motion. Just as a gyroscope can set up inertia through spin, so the spin of energy in a subatomic vortex could set up the inertia of mass.

My work began in earnest when at twenty I watched someone wind a ball of wool. In a eureka moment I realised energy could form a ‘corpuscular’ subatomic particle by spinning like wool in a ‘ball’ vortex. A ball of wool or string when it is wound or unwound is a ball vortex in which the direction of the spiral is constantly changing. So in a ball vortex of energy the axis of spin would also be constantly changing. That is how is could resist motion in every direction. I didn’t need the Higgs boson theory. In my spinning string theory I had a much simpler and more obvious account for the inertial mass of matter; why matter tends to stay put.

As there is nothing to limit the extension of a vortex of energy I assumed it would extend into infinity. Infinitely extending dynamic vortices of energy would overlap and interact. These vortex interactions could explain electric fields. If subatomic particles are vortices of energy they would have infinitely extending electric fields of force associated with them. This is a breakthrough in physics because the physicist David Bohm said, “What is an electric field? We don’t know...” ²

The 3D spin of energy in a spherical vortex would set up the three dimensional extension of matter. But space also extends in three dimensions so I thought maybe matter is the central vortex energy we perceive and space is the peripheral vortex energy stretching into infinity beyond our ability to perceive it. From that realisation I found a simple way to understand Einstein’s theory of relativity. If space extends from things then the space immediately around the Earth would be an extension of the vortex energy forming the Earth. That would explain why the velocity of light measured on Earth is the same regardless of the way the Earth moves.

To understand this, imagine light as a swarm of bees you drive into and the Earth is your car. You could escape the bees by turning round and driving off in the opposite direction but if a window was open and bees got into your car, should they decide to sting you no matter how fast you drive in any direction you would not escape them because once they are inside the car their flight would not be affected by the car’s velocity.

It is not possible to have movement unless there is space to move through so if the vortex of energy is space, where is the space it moves in. The answer is each vortex exists in the space extending from every other energy vortex. If the basis of Einstein’s relativity is that everything exists relative to everything else then, love thy neighbour as thyself would be a fundamental law of the Universe.

Just as the unravelling of a ball of string releases a lot of string so unravelling subatomic vortices would release a lot of energy. This explains the release of nuclear energy from the sun and nuclear weapons as predicted in Einstein’s equation E=mc².

In Was Einstein Right? ³ I rewrote quantum mechanics from two quantum laws of motion derived from Newton’s laws of motion. I had to do this because the major underpin of the accepted version of quantum mechanics, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, was disproved five years after it was discovered. We have been lied to. Physicists have been cheating! The opening theme in my book Was Einstein Right? was that Einstein was right in his row with Werner Heisenberg. He was also right to challenge the assertion by Heisenberg that the quantum world is unknowable. When yogi’s looked into the atom and saw quantum spin they proved quantum reality can be perceived. Scientists may not consider the way yogis used siddhi powers to look into the atom scientific but if the yogic perception of vortex energy explains things in physics physicists have been unable to explain then yogis will have proved it is Western science that is lacking, not of the Yogic science of India.

The yogic science enabled me to present a new form of quantum mechanics that is compatible not only with Newtonian mechanics but also with Einstein’s relativity. A breakthrough in physics that brings together Newtonian physics and Einstein’s quantum theory is remarkable. It reinforces the yogic concept that vortex energy is fundamental to matter. The truth in the yogic approach to physics is clear in its innate simplicity compared to the maddingly complex mathematical physics taught at universities. The vortex theory also replaces quark theory with a more obvious and straightforward account for the short-lived particles generated in high energy physics. In the high energy laboratories like CERN, physicists could be pressing energy through natural vortices in atomic nuclei to produce very short-lived ‘synthetic’ vortices of energy which spring back immediately from vortex to wave motion and radiate away as soon as they escape the nucleus. I postulated this in Was Einstein Right? and in the book I challenge the credibility of particle physics and suggest that the high energy accelerators are multi-billion dollar quantum doughnut making machines that enable scientists to benefit from public money by blinding the public with science.

It was clear to me that physicists are not discovering new particles, they are mass producing momentary swirls of energy that have no real significance. For example, physicists at CERN didn’t discover the Higgs boson, they witnessed a rare appearance of four short lived vortices in the aftermath of a high energy collision that they presumed to have come from a Higgs boson. Mass is a measure of vortex energy. Higgs bosons are unnecessary myths. Like quarks, they don’t exist. Physicists have created a fantastical story. Their research is pointless, which is why students are discouraged from asking awkward questions. In the introduction to his book on Joseph of Copertino, Michael Grosso writes, “Graduate students in physics are instructed to concentrate on the calculations and instrumental side of their discipline. They are not encouraged to puzzle over what is really going on in the quantum world.” ⁴

Parallels can be drawn between science and religion. Scientists and sceptics, determined to further the falsehood of materialism despite its being disproved by Einstein’s equation E=mc², have set up a religion. Science has become the religion of the modern age.

Yoga is not a religion. Yoga is a science that emerged in ancient India from exploratory methods unfamiliar to Western science. Centuries before Einstein yogis peered into the quantum world and saw how energy forms mass. For this reason Heisenberg’s disparage of realism should be discounted and Yogic philosophy should be taken seriously in science. The materialistic science that emerged from Greek philosophy has failed whereas the science emerging from Yogic philosophy has succeeded in explaining everything in physics. It is clear, simple and easy to understand and what was even more exciting is that it led me to develop the physics of spiritual energy, which I call superenergy, that could provide an account for spiritual dimensions and help us come to an understanding of God in science.

In the Gospel of Matthew 7:20 Jesus stated, “By their fruits ye shall know them”. This teaching, delivered during the Sermon on the Mount, serves as a way of identifying false prophets and teachings by ‘…observing the consequences of their behaviour actions, and character’. One can judge the heretical nature of the Doctrine of the Trinity by the violent actions and behaviour of Catholics intent on hammering it into history. One can measure the falsehood of the teaching of the Trinity from the extent to which it caused Christians to deviate from the teachings of love and kindness emphasised by the saint called Jesus who founded their religion. Jesus was a Jew and in his religion proclaiming anyone as God was blasphemy.

Protestants were caught up in the blasphemy as well as Catholics. When a brilliant polymath and pioneer of medical science, Michael Servetus (1511-1553) sought refuge in Switzerland for questioning the Doctrine of the Trinity, instead of providing him sanctuary from the Catholic heretic hunters, the Protestants had him burnt alive on a pyre of his own books for his ‘blasphemy’. He was murdered by followers of Jesus Christ for refusing to acknowledge him as the “eternal Son of God” preferring instead to call him “Son of the eternal God”.¹ In a modern adaptation of the Talmud it is said that “We do not see things the way they are but the way we are.”² It was the murdering Christians who were committing the blasphemy!

Elevating Jesus from sainthood to the supreme godhead transformed Christianity into a cult. Cults are characterised by a supreme leadership that holds absolute power. They demand total obedience and are not subject to any meaningful accountability or oversight. Historically Roman Catholicism fulfilled this criterion.

Jesus said he was a son of God (Mark 14:61-62 and John 10:36) but in John 3:16 and 3:18 the Gospel author claims Jesus was the only begotten son of God. That statement was in direct contradiction to verses in the Book of Job, one of the oldest books in the Bible, where we are told that God had a number of sons: Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, (Job 1:6) Though I was a devout Catholic I realised Catholic doctrines were not based on truth so I decided to seek my benchmarks for the truth in science. My attitude was if there was truth in God and spirituality it had to come through science. My mother told me that as a four year old I said I was going to prove the existence of God through science. Before I knew I had said that, that is what I set out to do. I must have been guided because that journey began in a most extraordinary way.

In my teens I was lent a book on yogic philosophy that changed everything I thought I knew in religion and science. I read that yogis in ancient India discovered subatomic particles aren’t bits of material substance but are vortices of energy. They anticipated Einstein and their breakthrough led me to develop an entirely new approach to quantum physics and a revolutionary understanding of spirituality that challenges what most people believe in religion and science. Particles of matter and light appear to be more like thoughts than things and the Universe seems to be more like a mind than a material construct. God is no longer perceived as the old man in the sky with his son on earth but the innate intelligence of the Universe itself that is also the conscious awareness in us all. My approach to quantum physics ratified that the mind is not a mere product of neurophysiology, as science would have us believe, but is a Universal phenomenon operating through brains not originating from them. I am not a body with a mind, I am a mind operating through a body while the body is alive, which then goes on to live elsewhere after the body dies. You and I never die.

The quantum vortex physics provides a way to account for the spiritual body people find themselves in after they pass on, as is evident in near death and out of body experiences. As a scientist I have a rationale for God and life-after-death which supports the traditional teachings that we are spiritual beings in physical bodies. This is detailed in Understand the Universe. In this book I detail the impact of these realisations on the course of human life. To begin with I relay the story of my own life and then go on to summarise the vortex theory and the hypothesis for spiritual superenergy and then discuss the difference between the Cosmic God and the Bible god. After that I tackle the thorny issue of Satan and why he has a major influence on what’s going on in the world.

I view the Cosmic God, defined as Universal Consciousness, as a personal God as It is the essence of who we truly are. But the Bible gods are entirely different. Identified as Satan alias Jehovah, with his brother Michael, who incarnated as Jesus, they were extra-terrestrials who descended to Earth to bioengineer us. These sons are expressions of the Cosmic God. They hold the polarities of good and evil to provide us with the opportunity of choice. The earliest book in the Bible makes it clear that Satan is not inherently evil but is working for a higher authority to test our true worth.

Descriptions of Heaven and Hell from two near death experiences in the 1980s, and teachings therefrom provide an account of why we are here and why materialism underpinning science and society is so inherently dangerous. An understanding of what is going on in the world is presented from the perspective that the Earth may be an academy for training angels, through experience and adversity in many incarnations, until they are able to graduate and ascend into higher dimensions of reality. You and I may be angels sent here to advance to higher levels in the Universe. If, through disinterest, distraction or neglect, we fail to choose light over dark, faith over fear, love over hate we may find ourselves in the dark burning with regret for loss of the greatest opportunity in the Universe for angelic advancement through human evolution. The quantum vortex physics provides support in science for traditional teachings about what’s going on in the world and the imperative of individual transcendence. The need to take responsibility for our lives now in order to attain a positive outcome in a life hereafter should be our imperative. It is not about being good or bad, it’s about surrendering ego in service to others and other creatures in the World for the greater good of all. Ultimately what’s going on in the world is a reflection of what’s going on in each one of us.

I believe we are eternal beings and masters of our own destiny. We can determine our own future but what feels right for me might not resonate with you. Beliefs can be dangerous and ideas can lead people astray so toss my ideas in the air. Feel into them allowing only those that feel right to land in your heart but also enjoy the process of journeying into the new possibilities I have to offer.

On my journey I delved into science and spirituality. As well as physics I looked into folklore and fables, sifting fiction from fact against the benchmark of my understanding of quantum reality based on the yogic vortex of energy. From the standpoint of my understanding of quantum vortex physics, and the superenergy hypothesis that emerged from it I found I was able to demystify religious beliefs and develop a scientific understanding of spirituality that endorsed traditional teachings and mythologies that are as important to us today as ever they were in the past.

The vortex physics endorses the fact that we are spiritual beings with the potential to be involved in the ongoing destiny of the Universe. Far from our existence being pointless we each have an immense potential which is inherent in every human being and is available to every one of us. The yogic revolution in physics reveals a universal plan for humanity which goes far beyond the material plane of the Earth. We could be heading for a glorious outcome but the choice is ours. We are intended for great things, beyond our wildest imaginings, here and in a multidimensional Universe.

Throughout my life I have felt a great change is coming, a massive spiritual awakening leading to our transition into a new age of wisdom and joy where there will be less inhumanity and injustice and more love in the world and respect for all forms of life. In my investigations I came to realise that we are here to learn to be in harmony with ourselves, with others and with the living world around us to prepare us for life in worlds to come. These are ancient forecasts but they take on a new complexion when they are appraised from a new scientific perspective of spirituality; when quantum physics accounts for the evidence of immortality.

We can only realise our potential if we relinquish the materialism manifested in economic greed and insular politics, secularism in religion and ignorance in science. We need a new spiritual science to displace materialism. To quote the philosopher Michael Grosso from his blog ‘A New Science of Spirituality’: “Something is gravely missing. In my view we need a new science – this time, a science of spirituality. There are, of course, reams of theological works and all sorts of philosophies of religion. But a science of practical and effective spirituality is what battered humanity really needs...” Grosso begins the introduction to his book on the 17^th century mystic Joseph of Copertino with the statement, “This book is about the possibility of transcendence...” Those words of Michael Grosso, from the beginning of his book, fit the beginning of mine because I finished, My View of the Universe, on the amazing possibilities of physical transcendence. My next book is devoted to even more amazing possibilities of spiritual as well as physical transcendence. If through our endeavours we manage to transcend material and mental constraints then, as a collective, together we can change ourselves and the world we live in for the better. Let me pick up where I left off. If we want to change the world… “we have to be the change we want the world to be.”

Socrates said “Know thyself.” Those who progress past material constraints and come to know themselves as multidimensional beings can discover their hidden potential. There are immense powers lying dormant within us, which Yogis came to realise through self-knowledge. In the practice of meditation, mantras and breath work yogis surrendered attachment to the ego-self and came into the fullness of their higher-self from where they were able operate as God-Man beings with the divine powers they called Siddhis.

The eight recognised Siddhis are:

1. Anima Siddhi: The ability to be as small as an atom

2. Mahima Siddhi: The ability to be as big as the Universe

3. Garima Siddhi: The ability to be incredibly heavy

4. Laghima Siddhi: The ability to be very light and to levitate

5. Prapti Siddhi: The ability to acquire and materialise things

6. Prakamya Siddhi: The ability to manifest and teleport

7. Istiva Siddhi: The lordship over creation

8. Vasitva Siddhi: The power to control the elements

The first chapter of this book was concerned with the outcome of the anima Siddhi that revealed the smallest particles of matter to be vortices of energy. That solved the greatest enigma in physics; how energy forms mass. In this final chapter the quantum vortex theory is used to explain the Prapti and Prakamya Siddhis that enable adepts to appear and disappear and overcome distances by vanishing in one place and reappearing in another. Features of these Siddhis can be explained in terms of changing the intrinsic speed of energy in the subatomic quantum vortex. If the energy speed in subatomic vortices, comprising atoms in a body of matter, is accelerated beyond the speed of light then the physical energy transcends into superenergy and the body disappears. This is reversed if the speed of superenergy is decelerated to the speed of light. Then as the superenergy descends back into physical energy the body reappears again.

Changes between energy and superenergy cause bodies of matter to disappear and reappear simply because superenergy cannot be contained in physical space and time. When a body transcends from physical energy to superenergy it doesn’t necessarily go anywhere nor change form, it simply becomes invisible and intangible to people in the physical dimension. The change would be more of a change in perception than change in the physical characteristics of the body. A story that depicts this is the ring of power in the Lord of the Rings causing invisibility.

The physics of accelerating the speed of energy in the subatomic quantum vortices of a body, beyond the speed of light, can be used to explain the Siddhis that enable bodies to appear, disappear and teleport. For ease of understanding I use the term evaporation to describe the transcendence of a body when it disappears out of physical space and time and condensation to describe the deceleration of superenergy into physical energy in a body causing it to reappear in physical spacetime again. These processes are not literally evaporation or condensation; these are just metaphors intended to help in the understanding of the processes.

The quantum vortex theory can provide a scientific understanding of ascension in terms of accelerating the intrinsic speed of energy in the quantum vortex. Ascension is the process whereby a body physically transcends from the third or fourth dimension into the fifth dimension. Materialists dismiss ascension because it appears to be a spiritual process that threatens their faith in materialism or physicalism. Because E=mc² killed materialism, faith in materialism is unfounded. It is no different to the religions materialists despise. As the late Countess Amanda Fielding said, “Science is the religion of the modern age; it killed off spirituality”.¹ Spirituality can be rescued by bringing it into the body of science and that is possible if spiritual phenomena, such as ascension make sense in science. People in the Ascension Movement speak of ascension in terms of an increase in frequency of vibration. That makes no sense in science. It is just a metaphor because an increase in frequency of vibration causes an increase in temperature which cooks things. If that were how ascension occurred it would be lethal to living organisms. When a lobster is dropped into boiling water its tissues undergo an increase in frequency of vibration which kills it. The account for ascension, in the quantum vortex theory, as a change in the intrinsic speed of vortex energy in bodies of matter, offers a safe way for living organisms to transcend dimensions, precisely because it doesn’t incur change in frequency of vibration.

In the transcendence between physical energy and superenergy it is the Einstein constants that are changed. These invariable speed values are not like variable speeds that measure how long it takes to get from A to B. They are the energy speed states of existence that are the underlying substratum of quantum reality. The form of a quantum vortex or wave-train of energy, represented by its frequency, would not be changed in this process of transcendence. Only the dimensional state of a body changes in the energy speed transitions between physical energy and superenergy.

The dimensional states in the Universe can be likened to the quantum states in an atom and the physical transcendence of a body could be likened to the quantum leap of an electron in the atom from lower to higher quantum states. There is a big difference however. The electron in the atom undergoes a quantum leap when its frequency of vibration increases whereas in the physical transcendence between dimensions it is the intrinsic speed of the energy in the vortices and waves forming bodies of matter that increases.

A lobster boils in boiling water because its temperature comes into equilibrium with the temperature of the boiling water. This is an example of the tendency of energy in things to go into equilibrium with the energy in their immediate environment. My proposition is that the speed of the energy in a quantum vortex or wave will come into equilibrium with the speed of the energy in their immediate surroundings. When a body of physical energy enters a beam of superenergy, resonance occurs as the physical energy in the vortices and waves in the body goes into equilibrium with the superenergy in the beam. This causes an acceleration of the energy into superenergy. For example, if the lobster were placed in a superenergy beam instead of a pot of boiling water the speed of energy in every quantum vortex and wave-train in its body, making up the atoms and molecules in its cells and tissues, would resonate, that is it would equilibrate, with the speed of the energy in the superenergy beam. The lobster would not boil in the process because there would be no change in the frequency of vibration in its body, measured as temperature. Instead there would be a shift in its dimensional state. Instead of going pink in the pot the lobster would vanish in the beam. Saved from the pot it would escape alive and well by physically transcending into another dimension.

I describe physical transcendence between dimensions in scientific terms as SPEAR: Superenergy Powered Energy Acceleration Resonance. I believe that teleportation and the appearance and disappearance of objects can be brought about by SPEAR, which causes an acceleration of the vortex energy in bodies enabling them to transit, between a lower and a higher dimension. In the case of the lobster this would be between the third and fourth dimensions. SPEAR is actioned by switching on a SPEAR beam. It is reversed simply by switching the beam off. This is the basis of teleportation. When SPEAR is switched on the body disappears into the fourth dimension. When it is switched off the body reappears in the third dimension again. This can be explained by Newton’s first law of motion. Newton’s first law is based on his observation that systems tend to be inert, that is they tend to stay as they are unless they are forced to change. I have added the reverse of this by suggesting that if the force is removed then due to their innate inertia the systems will tend to revert to how they were before the force was applied. In line with Newton’s first law I account for SPEAR in terms of two Cosmic Laws of Motion.

Cosmic Law of Motion I: The quantum vortices and waves of energy constituting a body of matter will maintain their intrinsic speed of energy unless it is forced to change.

Cosmic Law of Motion II: If the force of change is removed the intrinsic speed of energy in the quantum vortices and waves in a body of matter will revert to their original value.

I call these the ‘cosmic’ laws of motion because in Was Einstein Right? ² I proposed two ‘quantum’ laws of motion based on the same Newtonian law of motion. The quantum laws define changes in the shape or form of quanta of energy and the cosmic laws define changes in the intrinsic speed of the energy. These laws are fundamental because, having no substance, energy quanta are just bits of speed with a shape and they tend to impose the inertia of their innate speed or shape on one another. If the imposition of change is removed they immediately revert to their original state.

In line with the first cosmic law of motion when a body of physical matter is placed in a beam of superenergy the speed of energy in the beam causes the energy in the quantum vortices of the body to accelerate by resonance from physical energy into superenergy. As a result of this change the body disappears. In line with the second cosmic law of motion if the beam is switched off the energy in all the quantum vortices will revert from superenergy to physical energy and the body will reappear again. In the case of the lobster it need not be returned to the pot. In the superenergy beam the lobster would be suspended in hyperspace. If the beam were relocated from the restaurant to the sea and then switched off the re-entry point of the lobster back into physical spacetime would be the ocean. This hypothetical scenario points to the potential of SPEAR not only for animal rights activists intent on rescuing lobsters but for possibly translocating people from one place to another in superenergy beams. This is how teleportation could happen. Imagine if we could travel about in teleportation beams instead of planes, trains, cars or spacecraft. This I believe may be possible if we can grasp the full implications of E=mc² and overcome the constraints of materialism that require mechanical means of transport. If we can extend our horizons to envision travel without vehicles then the amazing possibility of SPEAR could enable our translocation in superenergy beams instead of metal tubes. I describe this as SBT: Superenergy Beam Translocation and believe that SPEAR could be the basis of a SBT technology that could bring teleportation out of Sci-fi fantasy into everyday reality.

SPEAR is a superenergy technology therefore it would be operated from the superphysical dimensions, usually by a SPEAR Beam Operator, which I call a SPEARBO. To a hyperphysical SPEAR beam operative or Spearbo our physical spacetime would appear as a sphere. The Spearbo could choose to relocate the beam anywhere on the sphere. If a body were lifted in a SPEAR beam into the hyperphysical dimension from England and the selected re-entry ‘drop-off’ point in the physical dimension was Australia, then, without travelling through physical space and time the body would be instantly translocated from England to Australia.

SPEAR beam technology could account for Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, UAPs or UFOs, as they were once called, and explain how extraterrestrials appear to come and go from their home planet or dimension to our world with apparent immediacy. Angels don’t use spacecraft; they just appear and disappear. Angels are extra-terrestrial by definition. In the past they were depicted with wings. It may be time for us to consider an update to our image of angels in order to accommodate SPEAR beam technology.

SPEAR beam technology was alluded to in the Sci-fi television series Star Trek in the way Captain Kirk was teleported in a beam between the planet he was visiting and the Star ship Enterprise. In the fantasy he stepped into a beam chamber and on the command “Beam me up Scotty” – with Scotty representing a Spearbo - the beam was switched on and Captain Kirk disappeared into it then reappeared in the beam on the star ship. This may be fiction but Sci-fi often anticipates fact. Certainly, Star Trek has popularised the possibility of teleportation beams.

SPEAR beam technology could account for an extraordinary event that happened at the Stanford Research Institute in August 1973. A group of scientists, including the astronaut Ed Mitchell, were performing experiments for the CIA to test Uri Geller’s psychic abilities. They were in the canteen eating ice cream when Geller bit on something metallic. He spat it out and put it on the table. Ed Mitchell picked it up, examined it closely and remarked that it looked familiar. As they were walking in a corridor back to the lab the sound of something clattering against the wall and falling to the floor broke the silence. Ed Mitchell picked it up and was dumb-founded. When he held the object that had mysteriously appeared against the tiny arrow head they fitted together perfectly. Showing the bits to the others he announced, “This is a tie pin I lost on a Florida beach years ago.” ³

How did that happen? Geller’s antagonist, the illusionist James Randi, might have said that Geller snapped the head off a tie pin and slipped it into his ice cream and then threw the rest of it across the corridor to catch the attention of the others. But that wouldn’t explain how the broken tie pin Mitchell had in his hand was the one he had lost on a Florida beach years before. Maybe he and Geller were in collusion to con us all. That is what illusionists do and they assume others are doing it too but that may not be so. We don’t have to agree with what scoffers and skeptics have to say; there could be other explanations.

My account of what happened is based on the possibility that a hyperphysical Spearbo used a SPEAR beam to lift the broken bits of tie pin into hyperspace from the beach in Florida and then dropped them back into physical space in Stanford. Apart from a metal detector how else could the tiny bits of an inconsequential broken tie pin have been located in miles of sand. The use of the SPEAR beam technology to move bodies of matter in and out of spacetime rather than through it could help to explain the innumerable accounts, since ancient times, of apport phenomena like the remarkable recovery of Ed Mitchell’s broken tie pin.

Maybe Uri Geller’s remarkable psychic abilities were derived from a lifelong association with a Spearbo that could be a hyperphysical incarnation of his higher-self or hyperphysical operative allocated to work with him. His SPEAR beam operative could have used an advanced technology to locate the tie pin that had been lost in the sand, broken maybe by someone treading on it. The Spearbo in the fourth dimension could have found the lost tie pin in the third dimension because our third dimension is part of her fourth dimension. According to my model, after the Spearbo located the broken pin first the SPEAR beam was applied to the arrow head. Immediately the subatomic vortices in the metal would have gone into resonance with the superenergy beam then, in keeping with the first cosmic law of motion, it could have undergone a dimensional shift from energy to superenergy and evaporated into hyperspace. Then the Spearbo could have used SBT to relocate the tiny arrow head, suspended in the beam, into Uri Geller’s ice cream and switched off the power. In line with the second cosmic law of motion the object would have condensed back into physical space as its vortex energy reverted from the hyperphysical energy speed to the speed of physical energy; ready for the unwitting Geller to bite on it. Next the SPEAR beam operator could have beamed the other part of the tie pin from the sands of the beach in Florida into the space of the corridor soon after the party left the canteen. In order to catch their attention the Spearbo could have flung the end of the beam about, as the power was switched off, so when the metal dropped back into physical space it would be sent flying across the corridor, rebounding against a wall and clattering to the floor. This type of poltergeist phenomenon is not uncommon and there are any number of opinions that have been suggested for it including the action of spirits or miracles, magic, magician’s illusion or hoaxer fraud. Psychics have no defense against illusionists who are fraudsters by definition. Geller is adamant he didn’t conjure the broken tie pin. He always denied being an illusionist and insists he was born with psychic powers. It is hard for people like Geller who have siddhi powers. In the materialistic West, when Siddhis arise spontaneously in a saint or a psychic or are demonstrated by a yogi or an Indian guru, these individuals are all too often treated with suspicion and disdain or dismissed as illusionists or frauds. Yogis recommend that we should never ever seek a siddhi or demonstrate it to inflate our ego or make money. When people use a spiritual or psychic gift to make money they can attract consequences which yogis call karma. Yogis are adamant that siddhi powers should be used exclusively for the upliftment of humanity and to reduce human and animal suffering.

Jesus set an example of the appropriate use of Siddhis. He used his ‘God given powers’ mostly to heal people. He only used them for personal benefit to escape angry crowds. ‘And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were full of wrath, and rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way.’ (Luke 4:28-30) It is easy enough to say he passed through the midst of them when in reality he was in the hands of an angry mob who had him in their grip and were hustling him along to throw him over a cliff. Again in John 10:39: Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand. But how did he escape so easily? Was Jesus working with his higher-self or did he have an ‘angel’ Spearbo who acted on his telepathic command? Did a SPEAR beam operative activate a superenergy teleportation beam to take him out of harm’s way when his life was in danger? If this is so one can only imagine the agony he must have gone through in the Garden of Gethsemane when he knew the time had come to be killed by those who hated him and he was requested by his ‘heavenly Father’, expressed in the fractal of his higher-self, to forsake his siddhi power and allow himself to be arrested, scourged, crowned with thorns, stripped naked and then tortured to death in the cruelest manner imaginable; crucifixion.

There is a reverse of SPEAR called Superenergy Streaming that could account for the healing miracles Jesus performed before he was murdered. If superenergy is streamed into a form of matter, it would come into equilibrium with the physical energy in the matter and condensing into the physical state could duplicate the matter, somewhat like 3D printing. This could explain the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand, recounted in all four gospels Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:31-44, Luke 9:12-17, and John 6:1-14. Evening was drawing in and Jesus was confronted with five thousand men, women and children who had followed him into the desert, he was concerned that they had nothing to eat so he asked if there was any food in the crowd. A boy stepped forward with five loaves and two fishes. He prayed over the food then broke it and handed it out to the people to pass on through the crowd. When everyone had eaten their fill, twelve baskets were filled with the scraps left over from the feast. This miracle can be explained with siddhi physics. This famous miracle may have been performed by streaming superenergy in a beam from the parallel higher fourth dimension into the food in the third dimension. The beam could have been operated either by Jesus’ higher-self – his God-self – or by an angel operative working with him as a Spearbo. When Jesus prayed over the food he could have been enacting his higher-self, or been calling on his Spearbo telepathically, to switch on the superenergy beam. One could imagine it somewhat like a laser beam anchored to his hands. As he broke the food, the hyperphysical superenergy streaming through his hands could have condensed into physical energy as it passed through the vortices of energy in the atomic and molecular matrix of the loaves and fishes, replicating them until he stopped handing them out.

Jesus Christ may have employed superenergy streaming to perform other miracles. He could have healed people by streaming superenergy through the quantum vortex matrix in the atoms and molecules, cells and tissues of their sick bodies. Superenergy condensing through cells into physical vortex energy could have resulted in their duplication or repair in situ to bring about healing. Alternatively, broken down bodies could have been renewed and regenerated by condensing superenergy through the vortices of energy in the molecular matrices of stem cells to duplicate them so they could restore diseased tissues to health. The hyperphysical body template could then have been used to differentiate them into specific tissues wherever they were required.

The superenergy hypothesis offers a frame of understanding for miracles that enables us to comprehend them as the application of superenergy technology based on the quantum vortex physics. It is impossible to do this with materialistic science and difficult in the climate of skepticism on one side and religious superstition on the other. Christians like to think that Jesus was unique. This is a problem because in science, phenomena are only taken seriously if they are repeatable. Fortunately Jesus was not unique and neither were his miracles. In his day Apollonius of Tyana displayed similar siddhi powers. Three centuries after him Philostratus claimed to have had detailed accounts of a trial where, after defending himself against charges of sorcery and treason, Apollonius vanished from the courtroom. This was witnessed by the Emperor Domitian and a large audience. Apollonius reappeared shortly after in Puteoli, several hundred miles away.⁶

More recently there was a guru in India who displayed siddhi powers similar to those of Jesus and Apollonius. Known as the ‘man of miracles’, his name was Sathya Sai Baba (1926-2011). Many accounts have been written of his extraordinary abilities. Over the years he accrued a world-wide following in the order of 100 million people. He performed healings and resurrections and was able to manifest watches, jewellery, pendants and other objects. Ram Dass witnessed the ‘miraculous’ manifestation of a medallion, which can be explained in terms of SPEAR in the Siddhi physics.

Early in his career, Ram Dass (known then as Richard Alpert) held an assistant clinical psychology professorship at Harvard University and a visiting professorship at University of California, Berkeley. Years later, when he became a spiritual teacher, he changed his name to Ram Dass. This is his account of a visit to Sathya Sai Baba: “When I was there, as I was sitting at his feet and he was sitting on a chair, he said to me, ‘“Here Ram Dass, I’ll give you something.” and I said, ‘No Babaji, I don’t want anything.’ “No, no, let me give you something.” He held out his hand, and I knew he did things like this, manifesting small things like bracelets, watches, small things like that. As a social scientist, responsible to the West, my eyes were going to watch his hand closely, I wasn’t going to blink. As I watched, a bluish light formed on the top of his hand, a flickering light, and it became more and more solid, and then it became a little medallion. It was a little circle a star on it with a little gold image of himself, Sathya Sai Baba. He gave it to me, it was definitely man-made, it did not have an astral quality to it at all. Later I asked a Swami there, “How does he do that?” And he said, “Well, he doesn’t make those; he just moves them from his warehouse with his mind. And you can just imagine his warehouse, full of these little medallions, and if you were in the warehouse, they’d be disappearing from the shelves, literally.” ⁷

Sathya Sai Baba could have been working telepathically with his higher-God-self or with an ‘angel’ Spearbo, in the hyperphysical fourth dimension, operating the superenergy beam technology. When Ram Dass was in the interview room, Sai Baba could have invited his God-self or his angel Spearbo to place the beam over a medallion on the shelves of the Sai Store warehouse in his ashram. The medallion could be seen for the location of the superenergy beam because the third dimension is part of the fourth dimension – much as Uri Geller’s Spearbo could see into our world to locate Ed Mitchell’s broken tie pin in the sands of a Florida beach.

When Sai Baba’s operative switched on the superenergy beam, in line with the first cosmic law of motion, the energy in every vortex and wave quantum in the atoms of the medallion could have gone into resonance with the superenergy beam and the medallion would have evaporated out of physical space and time. The operative could then have translocated the beam over Sai Baba’s hand. Then, in line with the second cosmic law of motion when the beam was switched off the medallion would have condensed back into physical energy and reappeared to drop into Sathya Sai Baba’s out-stretched hand. The flickering blue light Ram Dass witnessed could have been an aspect of the condensing process as the medallion condensed back onto physical energy.

One story about Sai Baba, relevant to this discussion of the physics of Siddhis, involved a Californian visitor to his Ashram. The man wanted to photograph him but found the film in his camera had run out and he had omitted to bring a spare roll. Sai Baba reached up and plucked a roll of film for the camera out of thin air and handed it to him. The man took photographs and on his return to the USA he went into his local photo store to get the roll of film developed. When he returned to collect the pictures the owner of the store commented on the photographs. He said the man in the photographs, unmistakable in bright orange robes with the Afro hairstyle and dark Indian skin, had called into his store to buy a roll of film. Apart from a visit to Africa, Sai Baba never left India.

This example of bilocation (being in two places at the same time), a siddhi power Sai Baba was famous for, can be easily explained in terms of superenergy beam translocation. Sai Baba could have called on his SPEAR operative to evaporate him out of India and condense him outside the camera store in California. After he purchased the roll of film and left the store this could have been reversed. The time difference between India and California would have had no bearing on the ‘miracle’ because Sai Baba could choose any point in time as well as space to locate himself in California.

The spate of spoon bending brought about by Uri Geller can also be explained by SPEAR. In line with the first cosmic law of motion, Uri Geller’s siddhi operative could have used a superenergy beam to take some of the metal atoms in the handle of a spoon out of physical spacetime so the bonds between the remaining atoms in the lattice would be reduced in the region of the spoon designated by the stroking of its handler. That could have weakened the metal sufficiently to be bent by the stroking motion. After the spoon had been bent and the beam switched off, in line with the second cosmic law of motion, the atoms that had been suspended in the beam would reappear in the metal lattice and restore the original strength of the metal.

James Randi went to great lengths to discredit Geller’s spoon bending as an illusionary trick. He accused Geller of fraud because his fingers were observed bending the spoon while he was stroking it. Because he was a professional trickster Randi assumed Geller was performing a spoon bending trick. He missed the point entirely. The bending of the spoon occurred because it had been plasticised and curled in response to Geller stroking it. The manual bending of a normal metal spoon would require considerable force whereas the bending of the plasticized metal spoon could occur with gentle stroking. Randi didn’t explain why the metal had become soft enough to bend without heat or the exertion of considerable force. Skeptics say people who believe in Uri Geller are gullible when in fact it was the people who believed in James Randi who were gullible.

Scientists at the Stanford Research Institute concluded from the controlled experiments on Uri Geller that he displayed paranormal perceptual ability in a convincing and unambiguous manner.⁸ James Randi ignored that because, as a self-appointed inquisitor of scientific heresy, he became famous and made a lot of money by convincing people that because he could replicate various psychic phenomena with illusion, all psychic phenomena was illusion. Psychic surgery can be explained in terms of a superenergy beam being used selectively to take skin and muscle tissues out of physical space so the psychic surgeon has a hole in the patient to operate through. Then when the beam is switched off the tissues that were suspended in the beam would reappear intact. However, James Randi was so successful in discrediting Psychic surgery by performing fake surgery on television that it is now difficult to give the subject credible consideration; especially when fraudulent surgeons were found to be taking financial advantage of the flood of interest in psychic surgery that came their way.

On one occasion I was verbally attacked for mentioning Sai Baba in a lecture. Was I not aware that he had been disclosed as a fraud! Sathya Sai Baba faced numerous accusations over the years which included fraud, sleight of hand, sexual abuse, money laundering and murder. However, he was never charged with any of these offences and in an open letter in December 2001, the then Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the Indian Chief Justices P. N. Bhagwati and Ranganath Misra as well as number of Members of the Indian Parliament said that they were, “deeply pained and anguished by the wild, reckless and concocted allegations” against Sathya Sai Baba, and they called him “an embodiment of love and selfless service to humanity”.

The siddhi powers Sai Baba demonstrated are available for us all if we follow spiritual teachings to love one another and come into the true knowledge of ourselves. Siddhis cannot be taken, they come as a gift because they don’t belong in the third dimension. They are based on a fourth dimensional superenergy technology and our access to them depends on developing a relationship with SPEAR operatives in that dimension in this life or in a past life.

Siddhis manifest in people who are ripe to receive them. Our job is to ripen. We can start by believing in higher dimensions and there are practical reasons for taking spirituality seriously because spiritual technologies could help overcome many crises that beset us. SPEAR beam technologies could transform our world and superenergy streaming could alleviate poverty. Imagine the benefit to humanity if the superenergy technology used to lift a tie pin out of the sands of a beach was used to lift landmines out of the sands wherever they have been placed. The siddhi physics used to drop the tie pin into the space of the Stanford Research Institute could be used to lift weapons of war out of conflict zones and drop them inside the Earth where magma could melt them down and return the metal to where it originated.

Many places in the world are descending into chaos due to the proliferation of arms. Sudan and Northern Nigeria, Ukraine and Gaza are zones of conflict where defenseless citizens are being killed indiscriminately and bombing babies is business as usual. With siddhi physics we could demilitarize the planet and cleanse it of pollution, parasites and industrial waste. We could bring Heaven to Earth but first we have to stop the war in our heads and establish the Kingdom of Heaven in our hearts. Most Siddhis come as a consequence of spiritual transcendence when initiates break through material constraints and realise their innate divinity. This is usually achieved by people who have followed a path of self-mastery, devotion and selfless service in their current lifetime or in past lives. It is most likely they would have sought a guru to guide them in meditation, mantra and breath work to realise the Siddhi powers innate within them. For humanity to benefit from Siddhi powers, collectively we would need to value and honour those who are gifted with Siddhis and are willing to use them to benefit us all.

In John 10:34, Jesus quotes Psalm 82:6, which says, “You are gods.” When Sathya Sai Baba was asked if he was God he replied “Yes I am but so are you. The only difference between us is I know it and you don’t.” We are all innately Gods and Goddesses. All we have to do is to know ourselves in order to realise our full potential!

If we want a better world instead of expecting politicians to change it for the better - because usually they make it worse – we must first change ourselves. Then, realising our true potential, collectively, we can change the world. We have to be the change we want the world to be.

Prior to the advent of Charles Darwin’s (1809-1882) Theory of Evolution most people believed in God. They only had to look at the wonder of nature to see the design of a Creator but Darwin challenged belief in a Creator with a theory of evolution which told us that species were not created separately but descended from a common ancestor. Darwin contended that its descendants underwent spontaneous changes, due to genetic mutations, which were then tested by natural selection. Those that failed the tests became extinct whereas those that passed flourished to become the species we know today. His system of evolution did not require divine design or indeed any intelligent intervention, it was driven by pure blind chance. Darwin’s theory of evolution is generally accepted as scientific fact. But is it true or is it just a fable? Despite its wide acceptance in schools, colleges, universities and academic circles, evidence to support it is lacking. There is no doubt in science that evolution took place in the history of life on Earth but evidence to support the idea that this occurred by pure blind chance, through mutations tested by natural selection, is lacking.

In The Triumph of Evolution and the Failure of Creationism ¹ Niles Eldredge admitted that, “Though I am a fervent believer in evolution and natural selection, I have to admit the evidence for natural selection is very weak.”

In Sudden Origins ² Jeffrey Schwartz wrote: “Natural selection may be helping species adapt to changing demands of existence but it is not creating anything new. The theory that mutations drive evolution is not supported by the science.“

In Mutation, Breeding, Evolution and the Law of Recurrent Variation,³ Wolf-Ekkehard Lönnig, of the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research, wrote: “Mutations cannot transform an original species of plant or animal into an entirely new one. This conclusion agrees with all the experiences and results of mutation research of the 20^th century taken together as well as with the laws of probability…properly defined species have real boundaries that cannot be abolished or transgressed by accidental mutations.”

So why do scientists, academics and educators promote the ‘blind’ mutation theory of evolution as scientific truth when it lacks supporting scientific evidence. In a paraphrase of a review of a Carl Sagan book, influential evolutionary biologist, Richard Lowentin, said, in so many words, it was because, “…most scientists have a commitment to materialism and refuse to even consider the possibility of an intelligent designer.” ⁴

There are a few scientists who believed that evolution is not driven by pure blind chance. Foremost amongst them was the cosmologist Professor Sir Fred Hoyle (1915 to 2001)who was renowned as one of the twentieth century’s greatest scientific thinkers. Fred Hoyle was not afraid to question orthodox beliefs and in The Intelligent Universe ⁵ he reasoned that evolution is driven by intelligence. Hoyle considered it a vast unlikelihood that life could have evolved on our planet alone and from non-living matter without the involvement of intelligence. In his words: “…it is apparent that the origin of life is overwhelmingly a matter of arrangement, of ordering quite common atoms into very special structures and sequences. Whereas we learn in physics that non-living processes tend to destroy order, intelligent control is particularly effective at producing order out of chaos. You might even say that intelligence shows itself most effectively in arranging things, exactly what the origin of life requires.”

Life screams intelligence. I have no doubt that evolution occurred in the differentiation and development of the species but the idea that the evolution is driven by pure blind chance, without intelligence is a fable born of the philosophy of materialism. This philosophy may have been the foundation of science but it is not supported in quantum physics. The underpin of quantum physics is the equation E=mc² which makes it clear that energy underlies everything, but what is energy? In physics energy is a measure of activity and the quantum vortex theory shows how activity in the form of vortex spin can give rise to the illusion of material substance and how energy is activity but there is nothing substantial underlying it. Activity where nothing is acting is more in the realm of the abstract than the concrete so Einstein’s equation E=mc² is suggestive that the Universe is more like a mind than a material construct. This idea was endorsed by the Cambridge astrophysicist, Sir James Jeans (1877-1946).

In an interview for the Observer,⁶ following publication of ‘The Mysterious Universe, Sir James Jeans, OM, FRS, said, “I incline to the idealistic theory that consciousness is fundamental, and that the material universe is derived from consciousness, not conscious-ness from the material universe...In general, the universe seems to me to be nearer to a great thought than to a great machine.”

If the Universe is a great thought it would reasonable to suppose there might be a Great Thinker. This logic provides a scientific basis for belief in God and that the Universe might be the mind of God. If the Universe is a mind that would imply particles of energy are more like thoughts than things so energy could be God’s thoughts. Because intelligence is fundamental to thought, Hoyle’s proposal that the Universe is intelligent is also reasonable. If particles of energy are thoughts then they would be particles of intelligence and the fact that everything is formed of particles of energy would infer that intelligence is the basis of everything and is fundamental to the fabric of quantum reality. If intelligence underlies everything it would be unreasonable to exclude intelligence from evolution and make no sense in science to deny the existence of God.

In Yogic philosophy energy, ‘Prana’ and matter, ‘Akasa’ are said to be products of mind, ‘Chitta’. Yogis teach that everything in the material world has been thought into existence.⁷ They speak of an absolute incomprehensible source of everything. This fits closely with Einstein’s view, expressed eloquently in the reply he scribed on a letter he received from a Colorado banker, who was writing to Nobel Laureates for their opinions on God: ⁸ “I cannot conceive of a personal God who would directly influence the actions of individuals or would sit in judgement of creatures of his own creation. My religiosity consists of a humble admiration of the infinitely superior spirit that reveals itself in the little that we can comprehend about the knowable world. That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God.”

The scientific basis for belief in God comes from Einstein’s equation E=mc². If mass and light are energy and energy is nothing but activity what is it the act of? It is hard to conceive of action without something acting. Philosophers in ancient Greece adopted the concept of substance that acts to resolve this dilemma. Democritus spoke of substantial material atoms moving endlessly in space and Aristotle spoke of the substantial elements of earth, air, fire and water and the ubiquitous aether. Even in his book on Yogi philosophy William Walker Atkinson, with a Western mindset, (penning as Yogi Ramacharaka), spoke of Chitta as some sort of ‘mind substance’ but speaking of mind having substance is not true to the Vedas. Fritjof Capra makes this clear in the Tao of Physics ⁹ and The Turning Point ¹⁰ when he wrote about how Indian thinking anticipated quantum theory in the understanding that energy is pure activity without any substance that is acting; the concept of substance being maya (the illusion of forms): “There is motion but there are, ultimately, no moving objects; there is activity but there are no actors; there are no dancers, there is only the dance…The Vedic seers…saw the world in terms of flow and change, and thus gave the idea of a cosmic order an essentially dynamic connotation… Shiva, the cosmic dancer, is perhaps the most perfect personification of the dynamic Universe…The general picture emerging from Hinduism is one of an organic, growing and rhythmical moving cosmos; of a Universe in which everything is fluid and ever changing, all static forms being maya, that is, existing only as illusory concepts.”

I believe it is the vortex form of energy that gave rise to maya; the illusion of materialism. Energy is more an act of consciousness than an act of material substance. Materialist biologists tend to believe consciousness arises from our brains but physicists such as Einstein and Planck, Hoyle and Jeans contend that consciousness is a universal phenomenon that gives rise to brains rather than arises from them. Appreciating the non-substantial nature of quantum reality, the founders of quantum theory, Max Planck and Albert Einstein, realised particles of energy are more in the nature of acts of consciousness than acts of material substance. They believed that consciousness underlies everything.

Max Planck, who founded quantum theory, believed in God. He viewed God to be the rational, intelligent force of mind behind the Universe’s laws and order. He viewed the Universe as a derivative of universal consciousness. He saw it as an expression of a Divine intellect and believed this view of quantum reality was a necessary foundation for both science and religion, particularly in their shared ‘battle against skepticism’. He foresaw the post materialist paradigm in his conviction that consciousness is the origin of matter. In his own words, “I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as a derivative of consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything we talk about, everything we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.” ¹¹

Quantum physicist, Amit Goswami agrees. In his book The Self-Aware Universe, ¹² he contends that universal consciousness is the ground of all being. He wrote “You can call it God if you want, but you don’t have to. Quantum consciousness will do.” Also the concept that consciousness underlies everything is implicit in the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum reality in the assertion that reality is considered to exist only to the extent that it is observed.

If Universal Consciousness is God then the Universe would be but a blink in the eye of God. The Universe with its trillions of galaxies is as temporal to God as we, composed of trillions of cells are temporal to the Earth. This is because the age of the Universe has been estimated at 13.5 billion years. That may seem an immense span of time to us but minute protons, of which the Universe is mostly composed, have a truly immense life-span estimated at 10 billion trillion, trillion years. On that scale the Universe could be likened to a sand castle that lasts only between the tides whereas the sand particles that make it up have been on the sea shore for millions of years. If that is a reckoning of the eternity of Universal Consciousness, consider infinity. How long can we hold a thought? A few seconds maybe? Eternal Consciousness can hold the thoughtform that manifests as a proton for trillions times trillions of years and how many thoughts can you hold at once? Universal Consciousness can hold in existence, as focused thought forms, all the protons that exist in the Universe. There are as many in a grain of sand as there are grains of sand on a beach and how many beaches, dunes and deserts are there? Multiply that by the billions of planets and moons in the galaxy with all their grains of sand and then the trillions of galaxies in the Universe, which is a blink in the eye of Universal Consciousness. We cannot begin to comprehend the Consciousness that Planck and Einstein defined as God.

Werner Heisenberg, founder of quantum mechanics, also believed in God. He was a practicing Lutheran who believed in a personal God and saw a harmony between scientific inquiry and religious thinking. He saw science and religion as two different, yet equally real regions of thought that point to a deep central order of reality. Wolfgang Pauli, co-founder of quantum mechanics, had an exciting, evolving view of God often expressing belief in a mystical, unified reality. Genetically Jewish, he was brought up as a Catholic but became more interested in a spiritual, deistic viewpoint through his dialogues with Carl Jung. Pauli viewed physics and psyche as complementary aspects of the same reality.

Many people believe that to be scientific they must deny the existence of God and embrace the materialist paradigm that mind, consciousness and intelligence are solely a consequence of neural activity whereas the founders of quantum theory and quantum mechanics believed in God and advanced a post materialist paradigm in science based on the idea that mind, consciousness and intelligence are universal and give rise to neurons and neural activity. In the nineteenth century it was discovered that thinking is linked to the electrical activity of the brain but since the recent discovery of the Kordylewski clouds scientists are realising that plasma structures in space could be acting as vast cosmic brains capable of thinking. This points to the possibility that there could be God out there somewhere.

Planck and Einstein believed in God as a universal principle, and an extraordinary discovery by the Polish-French Scientist, Benoit Mandelbrot, shows how this might be so. His discovery shows how the mind could to be linked not only to the human brain but to vast structures in the Universe acting as brains and indeed the Universe itself could be acting as an enormous brain.

In 1979 Benoit Mandelbrot discovered a method of feeding the answer to an equation back into the equation to produce an endlessly repeating pattern. Appearing as an intricate order of discs surrounded by galactic swirls and spirals this pattern was named the Mandelbrot Set after him. The central discs of the set are edged with tiny projections. When these are expanded they are found to contain repeats of the original pattern. These are called fractals and the fractal pattern has the potential to repeat endlessly. If the fractal principle is applied to universal consciousness then it allows for the possibility that the human mind could be a fractal of the Universal mind. The principle of fractals allows for the possibility that the conscious intelligence in the human being could be a fractal of the conscious intelligence in the Universe as a whole.

Hermes Trismegistus was an inspired Egyptian teacher who lived around the time of Moses. He carried wisdom teachings from Egypt to the people of ancient Macedonia and laid the foundations for the Greek civilisation. He coined the term ‘human’ for us to indicate we are miniatures of God in mortal frames. ‘Hu’ is an old Egyptian term equivalent of the modern word God. Hermes called us ‘human being’ because he believed we are incarnations of a Divine universal principle. Hermes also taught the symmetry we now understand as fractals. He described fractals in terms of the principle: “As it is above so it is below, as it is below so it is above.’ In the name ‘human’ Hermes outlining the fractal principle that the conscious mind in us ‘as it is below’ is a miniature of a greater conscious mind in the Universe ‘as it is above’. As our brains are in the microcosm so are the Kordylewski clouds in the macrocosm.

The vortex theory takes things a step further in an inference of unity or ‘oneness’ of consciousness. If vortices of energy forming protons are acts of consciousness, because all protons share the same physical characteristics of mass, longevity, quantum spin, electric charge and gravitational force, it can be argued that the consciousness underlying them all is one and the same. If it were different they would all be different. The uniformity of proton characteristics suggests the unity of consciousness; that the same one consciousness imagines all protons into being.

If this is true, if consciousness is one and undivided it would be the same one conscious awareness in everyone. The unity of consciousness suggests that we are all the same essential being in many different bodies, each having a unique personality and set of experiences but all of us existing as expressions of the same one Universal Consciousness.

If this is true and God is the essence of our being then God would be more personal to us than any objective personal deity. We may appear to be different and seem to be separate but it could be the same one conscious awareness looking out of every pair of human eyes, hearing through every human ear and feeling through every fingertip. This is not to say we are ‘God’ but rather we may be fractals of the Universal Consciousness believed to be ‘God’.

If there is a Divine source underlying everything, a Great Imaginer imagining everything into being, this could be the source of our individual conscious intelligence, our ability to imagine and reason, intend and think. This principle could be the source of our life and all life. Plato taught that the Universe came into being so that consciousness can experience itself. He taught that we come from and participate in a universal consciousness. Eckhart Tolle shares this view that we are not separate from the whole, but are a focal point of the universe being conscious of itself. He calls each one of us a unique expression of Universal Consciousness. ¹³

I use a fibre optic Christmas tree to depict how everyone and everything is an expression of the same one consciousness. I represent the source consciousness of the Universe as the light source at the base of the tree. The light coming out of the end of each fibre optic is the light from the same source. Just as the fibre optics shining the light are expressions of the source of the light so we could be fractal expressions of the same Universal Consciousness.

The individual personality that makes us a unique expression of Source is the ‘I Am’ essence of our innermost being. The source of our own ‘I Am’ being could be the same as the ‘I Am God’ spoken of in the Bible. Our own personal God may be inside us, accessible to us at any time we choose to, “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10).

If the consciousness underlying everything is the thinker and particles of energy are the thoughts then the Universe would exist as a body of thought, each being an expression of the universal consciousness, the thinker. Thoughts are not things. Thoughts have no material substance. If we believe there is a ‘Great Thinker’ thinking the thoughts that constitute the Universe, we cannot assume it is substantial if the concept of material substantiality has been dispelled as an illusion. Without substance the Great Thinker would exist only by virtue of thinking. It would be the state of thinking or the capacity to think rather than someone thinking. If the capacity to think ceased to think it would cease to be, as would the thoughts. Thoughts depend on the thinker for their existence but a non-substantial thinker would depend on a continual stream of thoughts for its existence. Thinker and thought would be co-existent in a state of co-dependency. If universal consciousness were likened to a dreamer and the Universe to its dream, if neither had substance then the dream would exist only to the extent it is being dreamt and the dreamer would exist only as long as it is dreaming. The thought and thinker, the dream and the dreamer, while being distinct they would never be separate.

If we call the dreamer or thinker God and the dream or thought energy then this principle can be found in the Bible. The first verse of John’s Gospel reads, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” If word is taken to represent sound, as sound is vibration and vibration is energy, ‘Word’ could be transcribed as ‘Energy’. Then the verse would read; “In the beginning was the Energy and the Energy was with God and the Energy was God.” Written that way the verse could be taken to reveal that though God and energy are distinct - Energy was with God- they are not separate - Energy was God. When the presumption of existential substance is dropped then God and Energy can be seen to exist in a distinct but unified state. God and Energy would appear to be eternal being in a state of conservation where neither is created nor destroyed. Through this state we can be one being in many bodies sourcing individual experience.

The fact that protons predate the Universe by trillions of years suggests that God predated it but that may not be so. It is possible that it is a lot older than we take it to be. Its measured age may be just a phase in its existence. It may be that the Big Bang was the beginning of one of many phases of universal expansion and contraction. This idea is in the Vedas. In ancient India yogis spoke of periodic expansions and contractions of the Universe. They called it the breath of Brahma (the Indian name for the Creator). In my book Was Einstein Right? I suggested that before the Big Bang there was a Big Crunch; a universal contraction of space that led to the Big Bang explosion.¹⁴ I concluded that when all the stars have exhausted their nuclear fuel they would succumb to gravity, which would compress energy into shrinking space and set up for another Big Bang to begin yet another cycle in the endless expansion and contraction of a living, ‘breathing’ Universe.

The trinity in India is creation (Brahma), preservation (Vishnu) and destruction (Shiva). This trinity is depicted in the biological microcosm of birth, life and death. Maybe the macrocosm of the Universe is subject to a similar pattern of birth, life, death and rebirth in endless cycles of expansion and contraction in which, as in a circle, there is no beginning and there is no end.

The idea that God pre-existed the Universe or a Creator pre-existed the creation led to the concept of God being the ‘prime mover’. In materialistic science material atoms are considered to be prime movers pre-existing activity. Religion and science both appear to embrace the material myth of a prime mover existing prior to activity. The basis of quantum theory is that energy is the prime movement and relativity theory shows time is relative to the speed of energy so consciousness as prime mover cannot pre-exist energy because ‘pre-existence presumes time’ and time is consequent on energy. It is a chicken and egg dilemma between mover and movement. Thinker and thought, God and Energy, Prime Mover and Prime Movement, coexist in an eternal state of union.

The word ‘yoga’ means union. It infers the eternal union of consciousness and energy, of Creator and creation as two aspects of a single co-dependent fusion of non-substantial Thinker and thought. The Thinker is the internalised source of the thought and thought is the externalised expression of the Thinker.

If we drop the idea that God is a substantial being we are left with the idea that God is the state of being. As human beings we can appreciate the attributes of being. These are conscious awareness and the ability to think, create, love and reason and the ability to intend, also known as free will. We are also aware of the external attributes of our cellular bodies and their genetic predispositions. Together these external and internal attributes make us the sentient hu-man beings that we are. In ancient Egyptian, Hu is the personification of “Divine utterance” and “Divine authority”. Described in John 1:1 as ‘the Word’, ‘Hu’ represents the creative and authoritative Word spoken by the gods, and was considered a vital part of creation and maintenance of Divine will. By giving us the name ‘Human’, perhaps Hermes was teaching us that we are incarnations of the Word evolving into angels learning to be new outlets of Divine utterance and authority as Universal managers.

In John 1:4 the Word is identified with Life. Science limits life to biology but the discovery of non-biological life in outer space suggests Life could be more than that. Life could be the cause rather than the consequence of biochemistry. Life could be a ubiquitous creative principle pervading the Universe. We know we are products of Life. Is it possible that Life is the source of our being? Are the inner aspects of Hu man being attributes of Life? Is Life the Creator? Is Life the intelligence underlying evolution?

In Tomorrow’s God, ¹⁵ Book 10 in the series Conversations with God, Neale Donald Walsch says he was asked to replace the word God with the word Life. It is difficult to treat God in science but science can handle Life. Biological science is well advanced and plasma physics is pushing the boundaries of Life from organic to inorganic but it is still Life and still within the bounds of science.

If God is treated as Life everything begins to make sense. One Life is common to us all and to all sentient beings. No one can say for sure what Life is but from NDEs we know human Life survives death and NDEs have provided the breakthrough that has enabled the concept of life after death to be more acceptable to science ¹⁶.

If I believe in God and God is asking me to believe Life is God why would I argue? It means I wouldn’t have to go to church anymore to find God because If God is the Life inside me that made me and sustains me all I would need do is to go inside myself to find God. The problem Einstein and Planck had in accepting a personal God could be overcome if we realise our own Life experienced as our ‘higher-self’ or ‘higher Mind’ is our own personal God.

If we are all manifestations of the same ubiquitous Life. If we are the same one conscious being in many bodies then if we hate and hurt others we hate and hurt ourselves but if we love and care for others we love and care for ourselves. The brotherhood and sisterhood of humankind are embodied in the concept that the one Life, the Word, the same single Higher-self universal conscious intelligence is in us all. In effect we carry the Source of the Universe within us. It is never separate from us because it is the Source of us. Even in death It doesn’t die. It carries us on and sustains us in many lives to come.

As fractals of the Universe we can experience the Universe within. Paul Wallis concluded Echoes of Eden ¹⁷ with: “Look deep within yourself and you will find the Universe. Peer deep into the Universe and you will find yourself. “

Buddha encapsulated this principle in his Lotus Sutra: “Our existence is identical to the Universe as a whole, and the Universe as a whole is identical to our existence.” So important is this Mystic Law of Life – While we are in the Universe the Universe is in us – that a Buddhist monk, Nichiren Daishonin, in thirteenth century Japan, encouraged people everywhere to chant, ‘Nam-myoho-renge-kyo,’ which translates: Remember the Mystic Law of Life revealed in the Lotus Sutra. Today millions of people throughout the world chant this affirmation of the oneness of humankind, which helps to bring unity and harmony to humanity as a whole and peace, prosperity and wellbeing to individuals, families and relationships.

There is one Life, one divine thread of Consciousness in us all. Some make good use of it. Others abuse it. Some are safe. Others are dangerous. If we take personal responsibility for our personal evolution and come to know ourselves as incarnations of Universal Consciousness and appreciate that the Universe is inside us as well as outside of us we will appreciate that we have infinite potential because all the power of the Universe is within us. Yogis knew this. They called the infinite powers we all contain within us, Siddhis.

Sages in ancient India knew it and science is going to prove it. There is a secret yogis have held for centuries that promises to revolutionize our understanding of the Universe. In our bones we know there is something not quite right in science, especially in physics. It is way too complex, burdened as it is with math that few people can understand and even those who do, appear to be lost. People are excited by quantum mechanics but Richard Feynman, renowned for his forthright honesty about the state of physics, says nobody understands it. This is a general problem in physics. Physicists have formulas but lack fundamental understandings.

The problem stems from the fact that scientists don’t have the key to understanding the Universe that yogis had in ancient India. With their supernormal powers they were able to probe the atom and what they saw was amazing. Centuries before Einstein, yogis saw how energy forms mass. At the same time they proved Heisenberg wrong when he said the quantum world is unknowable. Viewing quantum reality they discovered the key to the Universe.

In my teens I stumbled across it quite by chance in a book I was reading on yogic philosophy and it took my breath away. I didn’t start immediately. I needed to learn more about physics but once I got going applying the yogic key, physics unfolded into a landscape of understanding that was both beautiful and simple. I didn’t need math, which was a mercy because it seemed to me physics was drowning in an ocean of equations. With the yogic key the doors of knowledge swung open to reveal a new universal vista that anyone can appreciate. Proof is not needed when we see the obvious. Obsessed with proof physicists have burdened physics with an unnecessary overload of maddening complexity. The insight of the yogis breaks through all that to provide a new simplistic view of the Universe that everyone can appreciate. The truth is simple and elegant. You know it when you see it. And it is not materialism. Materialism is no longer scientific. It was disproved by Einstein in the equation of the nuclear explosion, E=mc².

The new approach to quantum physics that emerges from yoga is the opposite of materialism. In the paradigm of materialism mind was treated as a product of the brain whereas the new paradigm emerging from quantum mechanics presents mind as a universal phenomenon, which gives rise to brains. The yogic insight into quantum reality supports this view. Einstein’s equation E=mc² reveals that matter and light are forms of energy and in showing how particles of energy form mass the yogic key reveals that they are more like thoughts than things. Thoughts are acts of consciousness so the yogic insight could help us appreciate, in a scientific context, how Universal mind and consciousness, rather than material substance, are the ground of all being. This approach to quantum reality also supports belief in the spiritual dimensions.

Most scientists believe there is nothing beyond the material plane but burgeoning plasma physic is revealing that the atomic world we live in is but a small part of a much greater Universe of plasma. When this is combined with the yogic contribution to quantum mechanics we begin to see that there may be more truth in the ancient spiritual beliefs than has been allowed for in science and the investigation of spirituality may become its next frontier. This depends on whether scientists can let go of materialistic beliefs. A shift from the material to a plasma based spiritual paradigm would be helpful but the yogic key goes further to provide a sound theoretical argument for how energy may exist beyond the speed of light. This is necessary for explaining supernormal phenomena especially near death and out of body experiences. These are now commonplace and require explanation. I am able to explain them in the context of the yogic approach to quantum physics that allows for us to be simultaneously body, soul and spirit in a Universe in which we live forever. As you read my work weigh it up against your own knowledge and experience but keep an open mind. Does it feel right to you? Does it resonate with your heart?

Prophecy indicates that a time will come when the Divine principle known to many as God will reveal itself simultaneously in every human heart. In that time each person will decide to turn toward it in their heart or turn away from it. This event will be the beginning of the great separation of humanity into two camps, one in denial of spiritual reality and the other diving deeper into it. In that time, which I believe will be soon, many people will be seeking answers. They will be looking for guidance. These essays are intended for this time, for those who seek after truth. I wish you well on your journey, whichever way you choose to go.

On a night he would never forget, Ian McCormack was stung five times by lethal Box jellyfish. He was a surfer from New Zealand, swimming off a reef in Mauritius, hunting lobster with a torch, when he was suddenly surrounded by them. At 24 he was too young to die. It happened because his wetsuit didn’t cover his arms. It is not uncommon for people to die from a single Box jellyfish sting. The venom of the Box jellyfish is regarded as the second deadliest in the world. He was hit across the forearm five times by the tentacles of the second most venomous creature on Earth

Ian managed to swim back to the boat and one of the local lads who had gone with him pulled him on board and got him back to the shore. He helped Ian to a roadside but then abandoned him to his fate in order to go back and collect his brothers from the reef. With paralysis creeping on him, Ian was dying. He limped to a gas station where he saw a couple of taxies. He asked them to take him to a hospital. They asked if he had money. In his wetsuit he obviously didn’t have any so they began to walk away. He collapsed onto his knees and begged for his life and one of them, an Indian man, dragged him into his taxi and started the 15 mile drive to the hospital but then thought better of it and dropped him off at a hotel instead. With paralysis creeping on, Ian couldn’t move from the taxi so the driver pushed him out onto the street.

Fortunately, a black guy he knew called Daniel saw him, pulled him into the hotel and dropped him into a chair then ran off. The Chinese owners of the hotel were drinking nearby and Ian, showing his swollen and blistered arm, pleaded with them to get him to hospital. They thought he had injected with heroin and threw a blanket over him and tried to get him to drink some milk but his whole body was going into violent spasms which threw them off. Another Chinese man turned up with a car but refused to drive Ian to the hospital saying he should wait for an ambulance. Ian was overwhelmed with anger at the callous way people were treating him when he was dying but a short while later an ambulance did appear. Daniel had phoned the hospital and with the help of another security guard he heaved Ian on board. On the way Ian started to have visions of his life from when he was a boy. Then he had a vision of his mother calling him to pray. Thousands of miles away in New Zealand she had been woken from sleep with a vision of her son’s bloodshot eyes and a voice in her head saying “Your eldest son is nearly dead. Pray for him now.” She was a practicing Christian and began to pray. Back in the ambulance, Ian, who had never prayed since childhood, was struggling with the Lord’s Prayer but his head was going numb along with the rest of his body. He recalled his mother saying, Ian, no matter how far from God you are, no matter what you have done wrong, if you cry out to God from your heart, he will hear you and will forgive you.” And she told her son. “Pray with your heart not your head” so from his heart he begged God to help him to pray and immediately the words ‘Forgive us our sins’ popped into his head so he pleaded to God for forgiveness of his sins. Then the words ‘As we forgive others who sin against us’ came into his mind. He started to recall people he needed to forgive. Immediately a voice spoke inside his head. “Will you forgive the Indian man who pushed you out of his taxi and the Chinese men who wouldn’t take you to the hospital?” His immediate response was an angry no but then he changed his mind and decided to follow the prompt and he forgave them. Then the words from the Lord’s Prayer ‘Thy will be done’ came into mind. He didn’t know what God wanted of him but in that moment he made a solemn promise that if ever he got through this he would devote his life to God. He didn’t realise it at the time but his act of forgiveness and resolve to turn to God was his salvation. He felt a deep sense of peace immediately after his prayer and despite the fact he was dying, the fear of death fell away from him.

When Ian arrived at the hospital he was still conscious but his pulse was so weak it couldn’t be detected. He was aware of a doctor calling for anti-toxins and a nurse attempting to inject them into his arm but it was too late. His veins had collapsed and the blood circulation in his arm was gone. His heart was no longer pumping blood. With a sigh of relief he let go of his battle to stay alive and he died.

He found himself in darkness, standing in a pitch black cavernous space. He reached for a light switch but there was nothing there. It was bitterly cold. A horrifying dread came over him as he sensed evil encroaching on him in the dark. The darkness seemed thick and invasive. He knew he was being watched. Then he became aware of other people around him in the same predicament. Without speaking a word they began to answer his thoughts. One screamed, “Shut up”. Another yelled, “You deserve to be here.” As he wondered where he was another voice shouted in his head, “You’re in Hell so shut up.”

Ian used to think of Hell as a fun place where you could do anything you want that you can’t do on Earth but when he got there he realised it was nothing of the sort. It was nothing. There was nothing there. It was impossible to comprehend space or time. There was no light and nothing alive except people like him in a state of anxiety and bewilderment. It was a terrifying place of emptiness where nobody could do anything. There was nothing to talk about or boast about and there was no way out.

Ian was devastated. He didn’t know why he was in Hell. In desperation he called out to God, “Why am I here, I asked you for forgiveness, why am I here, I turned my heart to you, why am I here?” As he stood weeping and distraught a point of light broke through the darkness and grew brighter until it shone in his upturned face. Then he felt himself lifted into it like a speck of dust in a beam of sunlight. In his own words, “As I looked up I could see I was being drawn into a large circular shape opening above me – a tunnel. I didn’t want to look behind me unless I fell back into the darkness. On entering the tunnel I could see that the source of the light was emanating from the very end of the tunnel. It looked unspeakably bright, as if it was the centre of the universe, the source of light and power. It was more brilliant than the sun, more radiant than any diamond, brighter than a laser beam. Yet you could look right into it. As I looked I was literally drawn to it, drawn like a moth into the presence of a flame. I was being pulled at a tremendous speed towards the end of the tunnel – towards the source of this light. As I was being translated I could see successive waves of thicker intensity light break off the source and start travelling in the tunnel towards me. The first wave of light gave off an amazing warmth and comfort. It was as though the light wasn’t just material in nature it was a living light that transmitted and emotion. The light passed into me and filled me with a sense of love and acceptance. Halfway down another wave of light passed into me. This light gave off total and complete peace. I had looked for many years for ‘peace of mind’ but had only found fleeting moments of it. At school I had read from Keats to Shakespeare to try and get peace of mind. I had tried alcohol, I had tried education, I had tried sport, I had tried relationships with women, I had tried drugs, I had tried everything I could think of to try and find peace and contentment in my life and I’d never found it. Now from the top of my head to the base of my feet I found myself totally at peace…A third wave broke off the main source of light as I neared the end of the tunnel. This wave hit me and as it did total joy went through my being. It was so exciting I knew what I was about to see was the most awesome experience of my life.

“My mind couldn’t conceive where I was going and my words couldn’t communicate what I saw. I came out of the end of the tunnel and seemed to be standing upright before the source of all the light and power. My whole vision was taken up by this incredible light. It looked like a white fire or a mountain of white diamonds sparkling with the most indescribable brilliance…a voice spoke to me from the centre of the light. It was the same voice I had heard earlier in the evening. The voice said “Ian do you wish to return?” I was shaken to learn there was someone in the centre of the light and whoever it was knew my name. It was as though the person could hear my inner thoughts as speech. I then thought to myself, “Return, return – to where? Where am I?”

“Quickly looking behind me I could see the tunnel dissipating back into the darkness. I thought I must be in my hospital bed dreaming and I closed my eyes. “Is this real? Am I actually standing here, me, Ian standing in real life here, is this real?” Then the voice spoke again, “Do you wish to return? “I replied, “If I am out of my body I don’t know where I am, I wish to return.” The response from this person was, “If you wish to return Ian you must see in a new light…a wave of light…moved towards me. My first thought was that this light was going to cast me back into the pit, but to my amazement a wave of pure unconditional love flowed over me. It was the last thing I expected. Instead of judgement I was being washed with pure love…Pure, unadulterated, clean, inhibited, undeserved love. It began to fill me from the inside out, making my hands and body tingle until I staggered.

“As I stood there, the waves of light stopped and I stood encased in pure light, filled with love. There was such a stillness. I was so close I wondered if I could just step into the light that surrounded God and see him face to face. If I could only see him face to face I would know the truth. I was sick of hearing lies and deceptions. I wanted to know the truth. I had been everywhere to find the truth, and no one seemed to be able to tell me. I thought if I could step through and meet God face-to-face I would know the truth and meaning of life. Could I step in? There was no voice saying I couldn’t. So, I stepped…through the light. As I stepped into the light it was as if I had come inside veils of suspended shimmering lights, like suspended stars or diamonds giving off the most amazing radiance. And as I walked through the light it continued to heal the deepest part of me, it was healing my broken inner man, wonderfully healing my broken heart. I aimed for the brightest part of the light. Standing at the centre of the light stood a man with dazzling white robes reaching down to his ankles. I could see his bare feet. The garments were not man-made fabrics but were like garments of light. As I lifted my eyes up I could see the chest of a man with his arms outstretched as if to welcome me. I looked toward his face. It was so bright. It seemed to be about ten times brighter than the light I’d already seen. It made the sun look yellow and pale in comparison. It was so bright that I couldn’t make out the features of his face, and as I stood there I began to sense the light was emitting purity and holiness. I knew I was standing in the presence of Almighty God – no one but God could look like this. The purity and holiness continued to come forth from his face and I began to feel that purity and holiness enter into me. I wanted to get closer to see his face. I felt no fear but rather total freedom as I moved towards him. Standing now only a few feet before him, I tried to look into the light surrounding his face but as I did he moved to one side, and as he moved all the light moved with him.

“It was Jesus. Directly behind him was a circular shaped opening like the tunnel I had just travelled down. Gazing out through it, I could see a whole new world opening up before me. I felt like I was standing on the edge of Paradise, having a glimpse of eternity. It was completely untouched. In front of me were green fields and meadows. The grass itself was giving off the same light and life that I had seen in the presence of God. There was no disease on the plants. It seemed as though the grass would just spring back to life if you stepped on it. Through the centre of the meadows I could see a crystal clear stream winding its way across the landscape with trees on either bank. To my right were mountains in the distance and the sky above was blue and clear. To my left were rolling green hills and flowers, which were radiating beautiful colours. Paradise! I knew I belonged here. I felt as though I had just been born for the first time. Every part of me knew I was home. Before me stood eternity – just one step away. As I tried to step forward into this new world Jesus stepped back into the doorway…He asked me this question, “Ian now that you have seen do you wish to return?” I thought, “Return, of course not. Why would I want to go back? Why would I want to return to the misery and hatred? No, I have nothing to return for. I have no wife or kids, no one who really loves me. You are the first person who has ever truly loved me as I am. I want to stay in your presence forever. I wish to go on into Paradise. But he didn’t move so I looked back one last time as if to say, “Goodbye cruel world I’m out of here!” As I did, in a clear vision right in front of the tunnel stood my mother. When I saw her I realised my mistake; there was one person who loved me – my dear Mum. Not only had she loved me, but also I knew she had prayed for me and had tried to show me God. In my pride and arrogance I had mocked her beliefs. But she had been right after all, there was a God and a heaven and a hell. I began to consider how selfish it would be to go through to Paradise and leave my mother believing I had gone to hell. She would have no idea that I’d made a deathbed prayer and repented of my sins and received Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. She would have just received a dead body in a box from Mauritius. So I said, “God, there’s only one person really I want to go back for and that is my mum. I want to tell her that what she believes in is true, that there is a living God, that there is a heaven and a hell, and that there is a door and Jesus Christ is that door…Then I looked back again, I saw behind her my father, my brother and sister, my friends, and a multitude of other people. God was showing me that there were many more people who also didn’t know, and who would never know unless I was able to share with them. I responded, “I don’t love those people” but he replied, “I love them and I desire all of them to come to know me.” Then the Lord said, “If you return you must see things in a new light.” I understood now I must see through his eyes, his eyes of love and forgiveness. I needed to see the world – through the eyes of eternity. “God how do I return?” I asked, “Do I have to go back through the tunnel of darkness, back into my body? How do I go back? I don’t even know how I got here.” He said, “Ian tilt your head…now feel liquid drain from your eyes…now open your eyes and see.”

“Immediately I was back in my body. My head was tilted to the right and I had one eye open. I was looking at a young Indian doctor who had my right foot elevated in his hand and was prodding a sharp instrument into the base of my foot. He was looking for signs of life. Little did he realise that I was now alive and looking at him. I wondered what on earth he was doing but then the penny dropped; “He thinks I am dead!” At the same time the doctor stopped what he was doing and turned his head in the direction of my face. As our eyes made contact, terror swept over his face, as though he had seen a ghost. Blood drained from his face and he went a white as a sheet. His feet nearly left the ground. I was shaken by this and I asked God to give me strength to tilt my head to the left and look out the other side. As I slowly turned my head to the left I saw nurses and orderlies in the doorway staring at me in amazement and terror. No one said a word. Apparently I had been dead for some 15 to 20 minutes and was being prepared for the morgue. I felt weak and closed my eyes but quickly opened them again to check that I was still in my body. I wasn’t sure whether or not I would disappear again. I was still paralysed and I asked God to help me. As I prayed I felt a tingling sensation in my legs, accompanied by a comforting warmth. I continued to pray and the doctor stood there shaking his head. The warmth spread up into my body and arms. God was healing me! I was so tired. I closed my eyes again and fell soundly asleep.”

Ian McCormack made a full recovery within 24 hours and some friends collected him from the hospital the following day. Within a couple of weeks he was reunited with his family in New Zealand. He is now an ordained Christian minister with a family of his own and travels the world sharing his extraordinary experience. He has impacted more than sixty million people with his amazing story.

This NDE is not only vivid in its detail but the conclusion is truly amazing. Ian was clinically dead. He could not have been having hallucinations and no resuscitation procedures were performed on him. His complete recovery withing 24 hours after being killed by five lethal Box jellyfish stings defied medical science. It was a miracle. His was not a resuscitation, it was a resurrection. He was raised from the dead and the experiences he had of Hell and Heaven should leave us all with something to reflect upon.

In order to believe in Heaven we need to believe in life after death. Reading about near death experiences and watching NDE videos on YouTube can help because Yesua is using the marvel of medical resuscitation to teach us about Heaven in this day of disbelief. He predicted that after death people like Ian McCormack would meet up with him and hear his voice and in consequence they would live: “Verily, verily I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. (John 5:25). Yesua performed a miracle with Ian. He raised him from the dead asking of him only that he sees things in a new light. I have endeavoured to establish a case in science for life after death so skeptics can see science in a new light but testimonials of people like Ian, who have come back from the grave, are more convincing and we need to be convinced.

There is a very real possibility that science has got it wrong about spiritual matters. There is ample evidence to support the existence of spiritual dimensions and life after death. The scientific view that life is snuffed out like a candle flame is an unfounded hypothesis. I call it the ‘Snuffit hypothesis’. It is unproven and if it is fallacious. We could be in deep trouble if we find ourselves alive in another dimension after death and are lost because of our misplaced faith in scientific or religious falsehoods. If we are unable to do anything about it, what will we do then? What if Heaven and Hell do exist?

I watch a blackbird hopping in the garden. After every two or three hops it pauses and looks about to make sure there is no cat on the prowl. It doesn’t wait until it is in the jaws of the cat to be convinced that the cat exists. It is on the constant look out for danger in case the cat is about. We speak of ‘birdbrains’ but we are the birdbrains because we have devised a science that reassures us there is no cat and religions that encourage us to worship the cat and call on it to carry us away in its merciless jaws. An Archbishop of Canterbury pronounced that Hell doesn’t exist when a cat out of Hell may be on the prowl, waiting to catch him after he dies!

How can an Archbishop of Canterbury say Hell doesn’t exist when Jesus referred to Hell in, Matt. 5:21-26, 7:13-14, 13:24–30, 36-43, 13: 47–52, 16:13-20, 18:1-9, 22:1-14, 25:14-30, and 25:31-46, Mark 9:43 and 9:48 and Luke 16:23 as a dump for those who die in sin? Sin is another manifest misconception in religion. Sin is not wrongdoing. Sin is separation from God. The key to getting to Heaven and avoiding Hell is not to be good all the time but to establish a personal relationship with God. If God is Life and Life is the Self within us we should establish a relationship with our Self because as Yesua said "The kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:20-21) but we also need to have faith in him. Yesua said, anyone who believes in him has eternal life (John 3:16; 5:24). We can understand how this works by analogy with ‘Call the Midwife’.

If we needed a midwife to receive us into this life, then it makes sense we would need a midwife to receive us into the afterlife. It might be prudent for us to forge a relationship with someone in Heaven who can act as a midwife to receive us there after we die. By analogy we need to ‘call the cosmic midwife’. In numerous NDEs Yesua has repeated that he is responsible for lifting people into Heaven so it would make sense to invite him to be our cosmic midwife. If we want him to be our cosmic midwife the first thing we have to do is to call on him. That makes sense because if we don’t call the midwife the midwife won’t come. We need to get on the phone of prayer before we die lest our soul, born into the next life, is caught by the cosmic cat instead of being received by the cosmic midwife. The next thing we have to do is to develop a relationship with our cosmic midwife and follow the instructions on how to prepare for the birth. Every mum-to-be has to do that. After phoning the midwife she makes an appointment to get to know the midwife and receive the list of things she has to do to prepare for the birth. So it is if we choose Yesua as our cosmic midwife we should get to know him by reading the Gospels or watching NDEs. In NDEs and the Gospels he gives clear instructions for us to practice unconditional love and forgive those who have transgressed against us. Ian McCormack was asked to do so when he was dying and in desperation he called on Yesua to be his cosmic midwife. If we do that our transgressions will be forgiven. That is why we don’t have to worry about trying to be perfect.

All we need is faith in Yesua as our cosmic midwife or another saint in Heaven who we might prefer instead. You could choose to call on his mother Mary or Mary Magdalene or the Chinese saint Quan Yin. You might like Krishna or Buddha, St Francis of Assisi, or Padre Pio. Whoever you know in Heaven, they may be happy to welcome you into Paradise. Yesua is recommended as he is in charge of the vortex teleportation beams of superenergy that lift souls into Heaven, which is why he said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) The others assist him. They are in his team of cosmic midwives.

A danger we all face is that a favourite ruse of the cosmic cat is to pose as a cosmic midwife and he does so in many disguises. If the NDE that launched me into this book is true then Allah would be one of his disguises and Muhammad would be a false prophet. Yesua warned to: "Beware of false prophets...(Matthew 7:15)

The cosmic midwives ask us to prepare for our birth into Heaven by giving and forgiving. The Universe is seeking sincere souls who have love in their hearts, natural goodness, generosity and innate spirituality without ulterior motives. Heaven is attained not by fear of Hell but by the dissolution of fear in Love; not the temporal love of passion but the eternal love that comes with compassion. We should endeavour to find Heaven on Earth before we leave for the hereafter because if we wait until we pass over to discover it, we may be too late to attain it. Heaven has to be attained while we are here. It rises within us in the happiness that comes through proactive acts of forgiveness and unconditional loving kindness.

Sadness is soul pain that warns us our soul is in danger of neglect. Sadness will only dissipate if we let go of selfish misery and tend to the needs of others and forgive any adversity that is inflicted upon us. We can act with loving kindness anytime by pulling a note out of an ATM for a homeless person or by buying them something to eat. There are plenty of street people about living in discomfort to provide we the comfortable with an opportunity to give as we have received. The homeless are doing more for us than bankers and brokers, politicians and pastors because they are giving us a chance to care for others as much as we care for ourselves. The outstretched hands of the homeless are passes into Paradise.

It is important to appreciate the primary purpose of our mortal life is to choose our destination for eternal life. The way we live, behave and what we believe in this life will decide where we end up in the life hereafter. Every moment in every day is a moment of choice between living for our own welfare or for the welfare of others. Every thought is an opportunity to choose between love and hate and our choices in thought and deed forge our eternal fate between light and dark in the eternal hereafter.

Unfortunate are those who are born into religious cults or political systems where generations of culture act against their chance to choose. Christians may appear to be more fortunate because their faith is directed toward Yesua but ever since the Council of Nicaea in AD 325, when Christians were forced to follow its doctrine they lost the chance to choose. Arius (AD 256–336) and his followers were barred from the Council for proclaiming Yesua is not God but a son of God. In the Gospels Yesua never said he was God but in John 10:36 he said he was the Son of God. Arians were proclaimed as heretics to be hunted down and killed. Centuries of violence ensued as the doctrine of the Trinity was brutally enforced. Theological debates on the fine points of the divine nature of Jesus Christ caused schism between the Roman and Greek Christians. Christians arguing about God were ignorant of The Vedic view that there is one universal sea of consciousness, called Brahman, that underlies all sentient beings. Because Brahman is the true Self in everyone, everyone has the potential to be what Jesus Christ was; a fully Self-realised expression of God. That was the essence of Gnosticism, which was also discounted as heresy at Nicaea.

The Vedas teach that the first outpouring of Consciousness into manifestation was the Creator, known to Hindu’s as Brahma and Christians as God. Nicaea dictated that God is the Source not the first expression of Source Consciousness. Rather than access the Source through our Self the demand of religion is that we worship an expression of it outside of ourselves. Gnostics in the West and Yogis in the East contended the Source is within us and all we need is to know is how to access it. The danger of religious worship is that it takes us away from realising that we are expressions of God and causes us to imagine that we are sinners separate from God. Whatever Jesus Christ was we are and he wanted us to know that but the religions instituted in his name deny it so they can control us which is essentially evil. However, religions are not entirely evil. Michael Shermer is executive director and founder of The Sceptics Society. In, How We Believe, ¹ after castigating religions on the hypocrisy of holy wars, he wrote, “…However, for every one of these grand tragedies there are ten thousand acts of personal kindness and social good that go unreported…Religion, like all social institutions of such historical depth and cultural impact, cannot be reduced to an unambiguous good or evil.”

Nonetheless, we do have to be wary of religious cults. NDEs are warning us of the grave consequences of worshiping the god of Abraham either through the religions he instigated or the money he inspired his chosen people to control. Our need is to follow the guidance of our internal higher Self not the prelates in religion driven by greed for money and power. It is hard for people born into religious cults because it is difficult for them to break away. They may lose their home, livelihood and their family and friends, as occurred to the Muslim lady whose NDE inspired this book.

While I am unable to verify the numerous NDE reports on the danger of Abrahamic cults appearing on the internet I believe many are true because they confirm years of study and research I did in the process of writing my book, The Role of Evil in Human Evolution.² The Abrahamic cults can take a real hold on people. Generations can be enslaved in heart and mind when the culture they live in and their family life is dominated by a cult. I decided to give the NDE reports on the cults of Islam and Judaism the benefit of the doubt because I believe they carry an important message regarding the danger of misplaced religious worship. People don’t think of Judaism, Catholicism or Islam as cults because they have been around for a long time but they are cults because people lose their free will when they are caught in the Abrahamic religions. I appreciate the need for the Universe to test souls for their worth and the need for justice in regard to the way humans treat other animals and I also appreciate how difficult it would have been for Abram to have turned his back on the apparition, and obviously it would have approached someone else if he had but Abram renamed Abraham did give himself to a god identified by Christ as the Devil (John 8:44) and those who worship him are cursed because they become his to take to Hell. The Devil is a lawyer who will argue his claim for every soul that falls for his deceptions.

Yesua attempted to save Abraham’s descendants from the curse but they wouldn’t listen. Instead they rejected him and had him crucified for challenging their entrenched religious beliefs. Had they heeded his warnings they might have been spared the ruin that came upon them following his death. What hope is there for a those who kill the ones who devote their lives to saving them. The curse of Abraham manifest in the religions that came in his wake are revealed by history to be insidious cults by the hatred, and violence endemic within them. Religious intolerance expressed in cruelty, war and terrorism defeats the purpose of religion. Is it any wonder so many people today have turned their backs on religion and are seeking truth elsewhere, as in the New Age movement.

The New Age movement is a non-religious approach to spirituality. It is not a religion because it has no central doctrine or core belief. It has the advantage over religions in that Self-realisation and Self-determination are encouraged instead of adherence to scriptural doctrine. In the New Age Movement Yesua is generally accepted as an ascended master. Ascended masters are considered to be men and women who have ascended into the fifth dimension and beyond. They are called Masters not because they hold mastery over others but because they are masters of themselves. They are treated as enlightened friends rather than beings needing worship.

In the New Age movement religious worship is generally frowned upon, which provides protection against the curse of Abraham. People in the New Age Movement tend to be more tolerant than people in Western religions. Most of them – myself included - are multifaith. The tolerant attitude in the New Age movement toward all forms of religious belief, including paganism, engenders unconditional love. Christians rail against the New Age Movement not realising that in doing so, through intolerance, they undermine the value of their own faith. Christians may study the Bible but they don’t live it if they judge others: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Matt. 7:1-2). Jesus Christ tests his followers on their ability to love unconditionally, which includes loving New Agers and others who follow Christ’s teaching but are not Bible based Christians.

The New Age movement is more spiritual than religious and in recent years the focus in the movement has shifted away from spiritism to ascension. Known to Christians as rapture, ascension in the New Age movement is strongly associated with Yesua. I believe the New Age movement is one of the greatest forces of good in the world because following Yesua in his tolerant attitude toward everyone, it is paving the way toward a new age of peace, harmony and enlightenment. It is not an organisation so much as a label placed on truth seekers who have an adversity to the cults stemming from Abraham. Many have discovered a strong personal relationship with Yesua entirely free of religious doctrines.

Generally, people in the New Age movement do not believe in Hell. That does not mean some won’t go there but it is not part of their reality. I find it hard to imagine many people in the New Age movement ending up in Hell because for the most part they are vegetarian or vegan and they do not indulge in religious worship so they do not come under the karma of meat eating or monotheistic idolatry that attracts the curse of Abraham. Generally they are kind and non-judgmental. I believe the New Age movement could be helping to reverse the karma of meat eating and animal abuse. Indeed it could be helping to lift the curse of Abraham.

Nonetheless, the New Age movement has attracted criticism as people in it appear to be self-centered. There is little evidence of the good deeds that characterise Christianity. However, that may be because the movement lacks a cohesive front. Individuals within it may be practicing charity as spontaneous acts of kindness on an individual basis. I have to admit that I am biased toward the movement because I am active in it and I was mentored by Sir George Trevelyan who was its founding father.

Spiritual teachers from the East, especially from India, have played an important part in the New Age movement and in the general spiritual awakening since the 1960s. Indians are not under the curse of Abraham as they are not in his line of descent and they are characterised by compassion, tolerance and vegetarianism. I have received personal benefit from Indian spiritual teachers and I promote the Sacred Sabais prayer shawls that originated from the Indian spiritual traditions in Thailand. I also have an affinity for Native American spiritual traditions as I consider it important to honour the spirituality of the indigenous West as well as the far East as they are mostly tolerant, nonviolent and are untouched by the curse of Abraham. Indigenous ceremonies are sacred and they honour Life. I know that because my brother Steven and his wife Renata are renowned for their work with Native American spiritual traditions including sacred drumming and drum making, as well as the Medicine Wheel and the sacred Pipe ceremony. As the same time Renata uses a Sacred Sabai to help her provide people with the blessing of Quan Yin. I honour them both deeply for their practice and the way they have balanced the wisdom teachings of the East and the West. Christians may say that they are misguided because Jesus stated, "No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6). However, in the Bhagavad-Gita (9:17) Krishna claimed to be the Father and in verse 4:11 he also said, “However men approach me even so do I welcome them for the path men take from every side is mine.” Native peoples worldwide have established many ways of establishing a sacred connection with Life and many connect with the Source of All within themselves.

Indian gurus speak of guiding people across the ocean of maya and they have done this successfully for millennia. As Yesua’s mother Mary said in one of her apparitions, “A great light will come from the East and it will come from outside of the Church.” Christians have condemned the burgeoning movements for Self-realisation from India but then they condemn Yoga today in the same spirit that they condemned the Arians and Gnostics in the past.

I live my life from the gnosis or knowledge of Self revealed by Prem Rawat, an Indian teacher who showed me how to experience the Knowledge of Self within. Thanks to him I don’t have to concern myself about Heaven in the hereafter because I can experience it right now thanks to his generosity, kindness and tireless dedication to peace. Cynics have decried him for setting up a cult but that was not my experience when I was in his orbit. I witnessed him going to considerable lengths to dismember his organisation over the years to make sure it wasn’t a cult. I saw him encourage people not to follow him like sheep but to make their own way once they had received his gift of Knowledge, which he continues to give for free. His live teachings are freely available online for anyone seeking his guidance (TPRF.org) which I highly recommend. His focus now is on teaching people in prisons how to find inner peace. He is also concerned to alleviate poverty and support disaster relief. He is one of the most sincere and authentic people I have ever met.

If we align the compass of our free will toward Heaven inside us we can live in Heaven right now regardless of what is going on around us. There need be no separation between this life and the next if we are living in a state of Self realisation. It doesn’t matter which body we are in or what dimension we are on because in the Self we are in all bodies and all dimensions simultaneously. Aware of the illusionary nature of reality, including Heaven and Hell which are aspects of the illusion of maya, we are in the eternal now, a transcendent place of peace that passes all understanding. We can be in that place of peace always. We don’t have to wait for death or ascension if we are in union with our inner source of Life, which is simultaneously the Source of the Universe. Heaven and Hell are transcended when we come into oneness with the All That Is residing in the dimensionless Self-point in the Hara base of the breath that brings everything together in the singularity of the one dimensionless state of Life set deep within every human heart.

You can realise the Self-point that resides in your core centre right now. You can access the source of Life within your Hara heart and lift it from the base of your breath to fill your entire being with the trinity of Life, Love and Light on every breath. You don’t have to do is as a sit-down meditation, though you can do it that way if you want. It can be practiced while, listening to soft music, or when you are relaxing in your favourite chair or are out in nature. So long as you are breathing you can be connecting. Remembering to do it is the challenge. Once the practice becomes a habit it is easier because then it can happen naturally without having to think about it. It is all down to choice. We either do it or we don’t.

Over many years I have developed a method that has helped me to maintain the Self-point practice for Self-realisation. My method incorporates a practice of conscious breathing that my Father first taught me, with a modification of the Tai Chi practice of lifting the tongue to align the lifeforce, called Chi in China and Prana in India. This practice is all about shifting attention from the ever busy mind in the head to a place of peaceful harmony and contentment in the heart. We cannot stop thinking but we can choose to take our attention away from restless thoughts and bring it to rest in the core centre of our being from where bliss rises. In India this is called ‘Sat Chit Ananda’ meaning, ‘truth is consciousness of bliss.’

The Self-point practice is simple. Relax and allow your breathing to go slow and deep. Start on the top of an inbreath. As you breathe out allow your attention to follow your breath down to the base of the sternum. Now as you inhale feel your breath lift the power of Chi or Prana out of a power point at its base, up to the top of the breath. Hold it for a moment then discharge it on the outbreath as a shower of power to fill you with Prana or Chi. It may take practice to feel power coming up from the base of your breath to fulfillness at the top of it. As you do so lift your tongue slightly so the tip is pointing towards the back of your teeth. Bring your awareness to the edge of your tongue and taste the tingly energy of the Prana or Chi. Do this now. Lift your tongue and taste your life energy around its edge. Notice as you do so how your breath goes slow and deep and how calm you begin to feel. This is when you are most likely to feel the power in your breath.

Be patient with the process of feeling the power of Prana in your breath. It may take time but if you persist and lift the Prana on your breath up and out of the Self-point at its base you will feel fulfilled. It comes with the surrender of expectation. It may occur spontaneously when you least expect it. When it does, allow it fill you to the top of the breath. You will then experience enjoyment. You will experience the real meaning of the words fulfillment and enjoyment. This practice is simple and sweet. It is your birthright of bliss. With practice you will find yourself experiencing the peace of Self-realisation as you go about the day, doing whatever you normally do. I am practicing it at this very moment. You can too. Practice it. Keep doing it. It is free and it leads to happiness.

The key to remembering the Self-point practice is to remember to lift your tongue. Tasting the Prana or Chi at the tip of your tongue will remind you to breathe consciously. The action of lifting the tongue acts as a trigger to calm thoughts and deepen breathing. As the breathing becomes conscious and calm the presence of the lifeforce will fill the breath quite naturally. It may not happen immediately. It may take practice but when you least expect it the power will fill you with the peace that passes all understanding. Gently lifting the tongue a centimeter or two is the deliberate, easy to remember action that leads into the practice. The rest follows. Lifting the tongue sets an energetic barrier between the head and the heart. Leave your cares and anxieties in your head and bring your conscious awareness into your tongue then let it go down into the calm presence in your breath. As you do so pray from your heart for the grace to wash away your anxiety and help you solve your problems. Expect a miracle but at the same time be grateful for the miracle of life and miracle of the breath. Re-read these pages occasionally to bring you back into practice.

People around you may complain there nothing worth living for when you are standing in front of them full of the Life force of the Universe, giving you purpose on every breath. They may say there is no Creator when you are full of the force of Life that creates and sustains everything and is the Source of all being. You can tell them how to experience this just as I have told you so that they can also know themselves, not as a concept but as a practical, personal empowering and fulfilling experience. They can choose to be truly alive connected to Source. This is Yoga. This is Gnosis. This is Truth.

There is a party going on in our heads but as we lift our tongue it acts as a buffer between the head and the heart. The tongue guards the entrance into the quiet room of the heart. Thoughts like party goers will sometimes burst in uninvited. Ignore them. Let them go back to the party. The constant party chit-chat is an illusion. The power in the breath is real and sustaining and it is our salvation because it takes us out of illusion into what is real; the still, conscious, aware Self. It takes us from the talking self in the head to the silent Self in the heart. Imagine the lifted tongue as a door between the higher Self and lower self. As we focus on the tongue we close the door on the all consuming madness of the mind and leave it behind as we step into the serenity of Life, Love and Light in the heart. If you close your eyes during this practice you may see your Self as Light and feel your Self as Love.

When you can, collect a twenty pound bill - or the equivalent note in another currency - from an ATM, and give it to a homeless person as your gratitude for the gift I have given you and tell others you give the Self-point awareness gift to, to do the same. If everyone pays it forward together we can do something to help homeless people so they can afford a meal and a bed for the night. Practicing the Self-point technique and giving notes instead of coins to homeless people helps us build stairways to Heaven. But we do need help from our spiritual friends to maintain the practice because the mind will put up resistance. Also we are generally forgetful and life is full of distractions. That is why we need to call on angels and saints such as Yesua or Mary, Krishna or Quan Yin to fill us with their presence to help us transform our souls into temples of Love and Light. They can help us become radiators of Love and Light just as they were. As we turn to them for grace they will fill us with grace; the waters of Life that never run dry.

Angels and Ascended Masters are there to help us. They don’t ask to be worshiped. They want to be treated as friends. With their loving friendship we need never feel parched inside anymore and with their help we can help others drink from the inner well of Life. We need their help because the mind is very tricky and very sticky. It will do all in its power to stop us realising Self and experiencing peace. We cannot fight it. All we can do is pray for help to ignore its persistence and allow ourselves to be filled with Love and Light instead of its negativity. Then we will become beacons of Love and Light for others. People will feel the Love in us and will want it too.

Once you have achieved peace in your heart, don’t be afraid to speak from your heart. From a place of inner peace allow words to flow out of your mouth without thinking too much about what you are going to say. Listen to what you say because it will amaze you. Have faith that you can do it. Speaking from a place of having nothing to say allows your higher Self to speak through you. Let words come through you rather than from you. Wisdom will speak through you and you will learn from what is spoken from your higher mind that is connected to Source existing in the moment of spontaneity. Let go, don’t think, just speak. In India this is called Satsang which means the ‘company of truth’. When we choose the company of Truth in our hearts rather than the company of falsehood in our heads we can begin to share the Truth and encourage others to do the same.

We can all be hearts of Love, beacons of Light and speakers of Truth. We can each do our bit to anchor Heaven on Earth. We can each participate in helping to transform this planet into Paradise by giving as we have received and forgiving as we are forgiven. We can be in Heaven in the now. From that place of perfection we can practice unconditional love and forgiveness and experience peace.

In an NDE Yesua said that all that is required of us is to love whoever we are with. That is in his commandments ‘Love God with all your heart and love your neighbour as yourself.’ (Mark 12:30-31.) Sometimes that can be difficult because loving a neighbour or someone we are in relationship with is not always easy. Loving God comes from connection with the higher Self that is at one with God. Loving our neighbour can come through a practice called the Ho'oponopono. which can help us resolve conflict as it is impartial. It is a mantra that can dissolve resistance to loving and forgiving people in our lives who are a source of aggravation.

The Ho'oponopono is a Hawaiian invocation, which means 'to make right’. It requires the surrender of self-righteousness. It takes humility but it is a great gift to give people because it invites them to enact forgiveness. In the Ho'oponopono we recite I AM SORRY, PLEASE FORGIVE ME, THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU.' This recitation helps us to come into harmony with our higher Self, with people in our lives and with the world around us. Ho'oponopono is especially effective in resolving conflict in relationships.

The Ho'oponopono practice is rooted in the understanding that we need to love and forgive not for the benefit of anyone else but for our own benefit. Harmony and peace are essential for our well-being. Healing occurs when the mind is clear of negative thoughts and feelings. It is based on understanding that our experiences and problems reflect our inner state. By addressing and resolving these inner conflicts, we can positively influence the world around us.

It is easier to ask for forgiveness for our transgressions than to forgive those who transgress against us especially if the wounds of transgression have persisted over years. My advice is rather than attempt to forgive on your own, pray for the grace to help forgive others. Whenever you are in a difficult or challenging situation pray from your heart for help in resolving it. Ascended masters and angels are waiting in the higher dimensions for an opportunity to help us but they can’t unless we ask for their help because they are unable to transgress the law of free will. They can only help us if we ask them as ‘evil invades but good invites’. Whenever we are in difficulty if we pray from our heart miracles will happen.

I don’t believe it is necessary to convert to a religion or join a congregation and I certainly don’t believe in religious worship but I do believe in conversational prayer. To me conversing with Yesua or his heavenly Father, his mother Mary or another saint or Avatar such as Krishna, as one would with friends and family, is more natural than reciting set prayers at them like a parrot. Respectful communication with angels, saints and ascended masters, as if they are close friends, is the way forward as far as I am concerned.

With my second wife I travelled the world between 1992 and 1995 spreading the message of Ascension through channelings of Ascended Masters led by Yesua. My third wife was a very clear channel in her own right and she was called on to channel Shiva as he wanted to look into the West. Between 2022 and 2025 we travelled widely doing channeling sessions and Shiva walkabouts to make that possible for him. On the Cobb in Lyme Regis, Shiva said “Allowing me to come through in this way is causing compassion to grow in my heart for this planet and its inhabitants.”

Our world is in a precarious state and we need to work with our spiritual brothers and sisters, who have immense power, to help us pull through the many crises we face. As well as Shiva my wife channeled Yesua and Mary, Quan Yin and Shakti. They became close friends and came with love and gratitude for our willingness to give them the opportunity to reach people. They emphasised the need for more love, more tolerance and less self-righteousness. in Nelson, New Zealand, on Easter Sunday 2003, Yesua said, “You cannot be both right and have love. If you are right that means someone else is wrong which sets up conflict which could eventually lead to war.”

Yesua and Mary are more authentic than Facebook friends but the Facebook model of friends is familiar to us all. Imagine the spiritual world as a cosmic internet and invite your guardian angel, Yesua and other ascended masters or saints you feel drawn to, to become your cosmic friends. In this process you align your free will with them and as you invite them into the page of your life you will enjoy their company. Only then can they help and guide you, and a Sacred Sabai attuned to them can help you secure a connection.

We can also secure our connection with the Divine by dropping into a church from time to time. There are churches everywhere rarely visited. They are part of our heritage. If we find one that is open we can call in to light a candle and say a prayer. The first step to Heaven may be through the door of a church. One really feels the presence of Christ in a church. If we feel lonely or unloved, if nobody has time for us he is in every church, ready and waiting to love us. Imagine him standing in the light, waiting to greet you with open arms as he did for Ian MacCormack. If you feel you are unworthy of his love remember how unworthy Ian felt. He was just living for himself. He wasn’t caring for others and he ridiculed his mother’s faith. Despite his unworthiness, and thanks to his mother’s prayers, his life was saved. He was lifted out of Hell into Heaven and the embrace of the Master of loving kindness.

Yesua has open arms for every human being. We are all loved by him with an immensity we cannot imagine. All we have to do is let go, open up and reach out to him. The problem we all have is that the imps from Hell in our heads implant resistance, apathy and contradictory thoughts. Prior to my encounter with Yesua in the church of Medjugorje I saw them being driven out of my head.

When you enter a church you might want to sit in silence and feel the presence of peace. If it is empty you could go up to the altar or a statue or picture of Yesua or his mother and voice silently what is on your mind. Allow the words to flow. If there is a Bible lying around pick it up and read about Yesua in the Gospels. Open a page in the New Testament at random. It might have a message for you. Read the gospels to find out more about his life and teachings. The imps in your head won’t like that, which is why he asks us to approach him with the innocence of a child: “Truly I tell you,” he said, “unless you change and be as little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 18:3) My father was an outstanding example of approaching life with the trust of a child.

When I was a boy we were living in Canada on the Manitoulin island of Lake Huron. One weekend my parents went on a break to Sault Ste Marie, where the border between Canada and the USA runs along a narrow at the end of Lake Huron. Sitting on a beach, they could see the USA across the water from Canada. Toward the end of Saturday afternoon, Ma enquired of Pa what he had planned for the night. His said he had no plan. He had left that to providence. Before the fury had a chance to rise in my mother a small fishing boat, that had been anchored out on the lake all afternoon, came racing across the water and landed directly in front of them. A boy in the boat was white as a sheet and bleeding badly having cut himself badly with a gutting knife. The two men with him were frantic. “Can you help us please we have to get him to a doctor.” “I am a doctor,” said my father, “And I am a nurse,” chimed in my mother. My dad pulled off his shirt and ripped it into strips for a makeshift bandage. My mother quickly cleaned up the blood with one of the strips and together they dressed the wound and bandaged the lad like a war hero. The men were absolutely delighted. “You must come back and meet his grandpa” they insisted, “He adores the boy and wouldn’t want any harm to come to him. He will want to reward you for your kindness.” So my parents clambered on board and were soon buzzing across the lake to the American side where they were landed on verdant lawn on the lakeside that cascaded down from a magnificent mansion standing on the hill. It was owned and occupied by the retired Dr Miles Gray, who had made his fortune out of Alka-Seltzer.

Dr and Mrs. Gray was delighted to meet the English doctor and his wife and when they heard how the life of their grandson had been saved their hospitality knew no bounds. Insisting that my parents stay the night they led them up to a luxurious ensuite guest room with a king-size bed and glorious views of the lake. Two shirts arrived to replace the one my father had torn and my parents were directed to a wardrobe from where they could choose whatever they wanted to dress for dinner. Dinner was a feast followed by brandy and cigars in front of a roaring fire where the two doctors and their wives passed a most enjoyable evening. The following morning, after a full American breakfast, Pa and Ma were ferried in the little fishing boat back to the Canadian shore. That is how faith works. If you trust in the providence of Life with the innocence of a child, Life will respond like a child and in the most delightful way will come to play and fill your day with miracles and wonder that will take your breath away. And never underestimate the wisdom of a child. I was told of a father who asked his five year old son if he believed in God. The boy thumped his little chest and replied, “God is in here and if you believe in Heaven you go there, if you don’t you won’t.”

Being Human

Being human is the imperative of every human being. We need to know our true Self as distinct from the ego self. We need to be fully human and in our power of unconditional love and service in order to ascend into the Kingdom of Heaven. Yesua explained this to his disciples in his native Aramaic when he said: Hakana ninhar nuhrakun qedam, bneynasha d’nehzun abwukun dbashmaya.

Translated by Neil Douglas-Klotz ¹ this reads: “Let the light of your being, the consciousness of knowing your real Self radiate and illuminate the human beings you find before you, as well as the community of voices you find within. When they see and feel your atmosphere of ripeness, your ability to act at the right time and place, they will be reconnected in praise to the song and harmony of the parent of all, the nurturing force that recreates the cosmos each moment, unfolding a universe of sound, vibration and light.”

Those amazing words of a true Master, directing us to go within to find the parent of all and our inner Light, that it may shine forth and illumine others, was translated in the Bible as: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify you Father which is in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

So who are we that we can shine forth as lights in the darkness to illuminate the world and enlighten others. Who is the parent of all, the nurturing force that recreates the cosmos in every moment? What is the ‘Self’? How is it different from the ego-self centred in the head? We can find an answer to these enigmas that have haunted humanity down through the ages in quantum physics.

The equation E=mc² reveals that mass is a form of energy. As there is no material substance underlying energy the seemingly solid world we find ourselves in has no material substance. Yogis led me to realise that materiality is an illusion set up by spin. The vortex spin of energy, setting up the forms of subatomic particles, is responsible for the forces of electric charge, magnetism and gravity associated with them. The seeming void of space around matter is unperceived vortex energy extending from matter. Quantum spin has led to the delusion that the world we live in is real when, in reality, it is more like a dream. Vortex particles of energy that have no substance are more like thoughts than things. Akin to acts of imagination they are more abstract than concrete. Consciousness would appear to be the bedrock of reality.

A number of quantum physicists including Max Planck and James Jeans considered consciousness to be fundamental. They concluded that matter is a derivative of consciousness. Quantum physicist, Amit Goswami, considers universal consciousness to be the ground of all being. In The Self-Aware Universe,² he wrote, “You can call it God if you want, but you don’t have to. Quantum consciousness will do.”

In an interview for the Observer, following publication of ‘The Mysterious Universe,³Sir James Jeans OM, FRS, said, “I incline to the idealistic theory that consciousness is fundamental, and that the material universe is derivative from consciousness, not consciousness from the material universe...In general, the universe seems to me to be nearer to a great thought than to a great machine.”

Logic demands there cannot be a great thought without a great thinker and if universal consciousness is the great thinker it would be the parent of all; it would be the ground of all being. Consciousness is the hard question for scientists but more are abandoning the material hypothesis, already disproved by E=mc², to accept consciousness is fundamental and energy is thought. Thoughts are not things. Thoughts have no material substance. If we believe there is a Great Thinker thinking the thoughts that constitute the universal mind we cannot assume that the Great Thinker is substantial because substantiality has been dispelled as an illusion by the equation E=mc² because E (energy) and c (speed) are measures of activity so m (mass) can only be activity. Yet mass is a measure of inactivity. This conundrum is resolved by spin as gyroscopic spin is known to resist movement.

If energy is a dream and consciousness is the dreamer, and neither has substance then the dreamer could exist only to the extent that it dreams and the dream could exist only to the extent that it is being dreamed. The dream and the dreamer would coexist in a state of interdependence. Should the dreamer stop dreaming it would cease to be because it is nothing but the state of dreaming and the dream would cease to be because it is nothing but the state of being dreamt. We cannot bring the issue of a beginning or an end to this situation because that invokes time and time is relative to the existence of energy. Time is an aspect of the dream and the Universe as a dream is in a constant state of creation, because that is the dynamic of a dream. This is implied in Yesua’s description of the cosmic parent: “…the parent of all, the nurturing force that recreates the cosmos each moment, unfolding a universe of sound, vibration and light.”

In the known span of time, the Universe is but a tiny part. The Universe is only thirteen and a half billion years old whereas the electron and proton particles of vortex energy that make it up are estimated at ten thousand quadrillion, quadrillion years. To get the life span of the Universe into perspective imagine it as a sandcastle that lasts only between the tides whereas the sand particles of which it is constructed have been on the beach for millennia. The vortex and wave particles of energy - out of which the trillions of galaxies in the Universe are formed, each containing hundreds of billions of stars and trillions of planets and moons, each containing countless quadrillions of sand particles are formed as individual thoughts, intended, everlasting acts of consciousness. In the mind that imagines this all into existence even the Universe is but a twinkle in the creative eye. There could be trillions of universes floating as droplets in the mists of eternity.

The co-dependence of the universal thinker and the universal thought implies union. This is at the heart of Yoga as Yoga means union. In Yoga everything originates from thought. The thinker is the source of thought. Thought is the output; it is the expression of the thinker. Everything that mankind has ever created is the output of thought. Why should it be different for the world of living things from which we emerged. Why are biologists so determined to push a theory of evolution on us that is in denial of universal intelligence when leading quantum physicists are saying everything is thought and consciousness underlies everything. Is it because talk of a universal mind implies the existence of God. Rather than deny the existence of God maybe we need to define God in a way that is acceptable to biologists because it is hard to account for molecular biology without assuming the existence of consciousness and intelligence underpinning organic life.

Thoughts are particles of intelligence so if particles of energy are more like thoughts than things then particles of energy would be particles of intelligence. Were that so it would be ludicrous to assume the theory of evolution is based on pure blind chance if quantum intelligence is the fabric of the Universe. Evolution has to involve intelligence because biological cells could not form without it. Cells are formed of proteins which cannot come into being from haphazard combinations of the amino acids because the laws of probability don’t allow for that. The formation of amino acids in electric discharge experiments or their presence in meteorites does not prove that complex protein molecules self-construct out of them. The idea that proteins formed by chance in incremental steps over time is untenable as the lifetime of the Universe is insufficient for the time that level of probability would require. Protein molecules are not random formations of amino acids. They are organised in very specific sequences that enable them to form special structures or to perform specific tasks in cells. On average 200 amino acids are incorporated in a protein molecule and in every cell there are many thousands of different types of protein molecule. The chance of even one protein incorporating just 100 amino acids forming at random on earth has been calculated to be in the order of one in a hundred thousand trillion. Multiply that by every protein that exists and you will appreciate how the concept that random mutations drive evolution is totally unintelligent; and that doesn’t allow for RNA. The sequence of amino acids in a protein molecule is set by RNA (ribose nucleic acid). RNA is required in the formation of protein but proteins are essential to the formation of RNA so the proteins and RNA would have had to appear simultaneously and perfectly formed for the first cell to come into being. The chance of that happening by pure blind chance is beyond the bounds of probability. This is just one of many chicken and egg dilemmas that characterise life, the main one being that new life always comes from existing life. Every cell originates from a cell that has existed before it but no one knows how the first cell came into being.

Every cell contains ribosomes that make enzymes but ribosomes depend on enzymes for their function so the first enzyme and the first ribosome must have formed simultaneously. The right amino acids required to form the right enzyme protein molecules must have come together, alongside an RNA molecule, with the correct sequence of nucleotides; with the perfect genetic code for the RNA coming from a DNA molecule (desoxyribose nucleic acid) in the same instant. That could not have occurred by pure blind chance because when all these probabilities are added up the result goes so far beyond the bounds of probability it is impossible for that degree of luck to occur in a sequence of random encounters.

If every subatomic particle is a particle of intelligence, existing in the ground of consciousness, there is a possibility that evolution could have occurred in incremental steps from the build of simple molecules into more complex molecules, as learning could occur at each step. When conscious awareness comes into the evolutionary equation, lucky chances could play an important part in the process, because conscious awareness could be aware of lucky breaks and intelligence could take advantage of them. Conscious awareness and intelligence allow for learning. However, even the idea that quantum intelligence could be learning from a sequence of random mutations cannot save the theory of evolution because the theory itself is not supported by evidence.

To date scientists have catalogued some 200 million large fossils and billions of small fossils. Most researchers agree that this vast and detailed record shows that the major groups of all animals appeared suddenly and remained virtually unchanged thereafter. There is little evidence in the fossil record to support the central pillars of evolutionary theory that evolution is driven by random mutations, tested by natural selection. It was a great idea, well done Darwin, but in The Triumph of Evolution and the Failure of Creationism ⁴ Niles Eldredge admitted that over time little or no evolutionary change in species appears to have occurred. He said, "Though I am a fervent believer in evolution and natural selection, I have to admit the evidence for natural selection is very weak." In Sudden Origins ⁵ Jeffrey Schwartz wrote, “Natural selection may be helping species adapt to changing demands of existence, but it is not creating anything new”. In Mutation, Breeding, Evolution and the Law of Recurrent Variation,⁶ Wolf-Ekkehard Lönnig, of the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research wrote, “Mutations cannot transform an original species of plant or animal into an entirely new one. This conclusion agrees with all the experiences and results of mutation research of the 20^th century taken together as well as with the laws of probability. Properly defined species have real boundaries that cannot be abolished or transgressed by accidental mutations.”

Bang goes the theory of evolution. If the theory of evolution is not supported by scientific evidence why do scientists promote it with such fervour when science is supposed to be evidence based? Why is it taught in schools, colleges and universities as scientific truth when it lacks the support of true science? Influential evolutionary biologist Richard Lowentin said this is because, “…most scientists have a commitment to materialism and refuse to even consider the possibility of an intelligent designer.” That is why origin of life is still the greatest unsolved mystery in science. The theory of evolution has appealing elements but Life screams intelligence. When all the evidence is taken into account from molecular biology to the fossil record it is hard to believe that there isn’t some sort of super-intelligence behind the origin of biological life. In the past most people took Life as the main reason for their belief in a Creator God but the religious idea that God created Life is a presumption. Scientists presume that Life is a consequence of molecular biology. That is another presumption. All we can say is that Life is. Life is all around us and it is in us but we don’t know where it comes from and we don’t know what it is.

NDEs suggest that Life is not a consequence of molecular biology because when people die they leave their bodies lifeless and hover around it for a bit before being pulled away somewhere else. Then when they return into their bodies, the body comes to life again. So Life doesn’t appear to depend on the body; it seems more likely that the body depends on Life. For those who accept the NDE evidence, another word can be added after ‘Life’ and that word is ‘universal’. NDEs suggest that Life is universal. Even without NDE reports great scientists have argued in favour of the idea that intelligence is universal and that universal Life is the cause not consequence of biological life. Sir Fred Hoyle FRS, wrote a book called The Intelligent Universe ⁷based on this this concept.

Is God the Creator or is Life the Creator? The only person who can answer this question is God. Tomorrow’s God ⁸ is the tenth book in the Neale Donald Walsch series of Conversations With God. In that book God asked that we shift our belief from yesterday’s God to tomorrow’s God by replacing the term God with the term Life. We cannot be certain who Walsch was having a conversation with but the outcome of this particular conversation is astounding. In this book the ‘God’ that Walsch was in conversation with argued that our very survival depends on our shifting our belief from the historic ‘God’ as the Creator and source of Life to considering Life to be the source of everything including creator gods. If religionists could accept that God is Life and if scientists could accept that Life is a ubiquitous universal principle that brings everything into being, then maybe science and religion could meet on common ground. Let us just play with the idea that God is Life for a moment. Imagine if God is Life and Life is the eternal source of everything including the Universe and then imagine what would happen if that idea is applied to the discovery of a Polish- French Scientist called Benoit Mandelbrot.

In 1979 Benoit Mandelbrot discovered a method of feeding the answer to an equation back into the equation to produce an endlessly repeating pattern. Appearing as an intricate order of discs surrounded by galactic swirls and spirals this, now famous pattern, was named after him. The central discs of the Mandelbrot set are edged with tiny projections. When these are expanded they are found to contain repeats of the original pattern. This fractal pattern has the potential to repeat endlessly.

If the principle of fractals is applied to Life as a universal principle then it allows for the possibility that the Universe is a living organism in which galaxies are the equivalent of cells in a body and walls of galaxies could be membranes. Then taken as a fractal of this pattern, galaxies could be living organism equivalents in which stars and planets are the equivalent of cells in a body. Then taken as a fractal of this pattern, the Earth could be a living organism in which we humans and every other living creature could be the equivalent of cells with each species corresponding to an organ. We would be a fractal in this same pattern and in turn each cell in our body could be fractal; a living organism with its component organelles as cells and each of its trillions of biologically active molecules could be fractals, each molecule could be a sovereign living being, acting in its own right as a conscious, intelligent component of Life. Atoms could be alive. They could be fractals of Life too. With fractal Life the possibilities are endless.

The fractal principle allows us to run every characteristic we witness in ourselves and apply it to every fractal in the set we call ‘The Universe’. Because we are living, conscious, thinking, feeling beings the Universe could be a living, conscious, thinking, feeling being. The galaxy could have thoughts and emotions and just as we have a brain and sovereign status over every cell in our body so the Black Hole at the centre of our Galaxy could be acting as the brain of the galaxy, responsible for every form of Life within it. What we perceive as angels and archangels could be coded message bundles similar to the RNA sent out from the DNA in the nucleus of every cell. The curse of Abraham could be an encoded living message sent out like RNA on a cosmic scale from the Great Operational DNA ‘GOD’ intelligence centre responsible for us; the supermassive Black Hole nucleus of the Milky Way galaxy.

This incredible idea shows the potential of replacing the term God with the term Life. It is such a powerful concept it is hard to imagine it didn’t come from God. It explains everything. For example, we still have the nagging question: “Was Neale Donald Walsch actually talking to God?” The answer delivered by this idea would be yes. So long as Neale was alive that was possible. If God is Life then because Neale is alive and a fractal in the set he would be an embodiment of Life and therefore an embodiment of God. There would be no reason, therefore, why he should not be able speak on behalf of God because God would be what he truly is as an embodiment of Life. Expressing God would be the prerogative of every fractal in the Universal set because every fractal would be an expression of Life. Every fractal embodiment of Life has the same potential to be an expression of Life. Each one of us as a fractal of Life has the qualities ascribed to God. We each have the capacity of intent. We are each conscious and aware. We have the capacity to think and to feel and express gentleness and love or anger and hatred. We have the ability to create things and animate the things we create. We are creating robots which we animate with electricity and imbibe with artificial intelligence and it may be only a matter of time before we are faced with the same nightmare that the Elohim faced after they created us; runaway robots. These repeating characteristics are features of fractals but the capacities that make them possible are properties of Life. We are fractals of Life but we are not Life. We are fractals of God but we are not God. We are embodiments of Life - of God - that have the capacity to think and feel, to create and animate. If Life as God has the capacity to think and feel then it could be thinking and feeling in every fractal element in the Universal set. From the Universe to the atom every fractal element could be a sovereign sentient being with the same Life therefore the same God-like potential. We haven’t fathomed out how galaxies and protons reproduce but there are a lot of them about, which suggests they may be reproducing somehow. We are conscious by virtue of Life and we are animated by Life. Life provides us with the capacity to think and be aware. If Life is God with the capacity to think and be aware, then in our capacity to think, imagine, intend and be aware we could be God embodied in humanity. This would explain why we are called human.

Hermes Trismegistus spoke of the symmetry we now understand in fractals. He described it as the principle of ‘As it is above so it is below, as it is below so it is above.’ He coined the term ‘human’ for our species to denote we are gods in mortal frames. Hermes was an inspired Egyptian teacher, who lived around the time of Moses. He carried wisdom teachings from Egypt to the people of ancient Macedonia and laid the foundations for the Greek civilisation. ‘Hu’ was an old Egyptian term equivalent to our modern term God. Our appellation ‘human being’ denotes us as being incarnations of the Divine. For Hermes everyone would be an incarnation of God. The only difference between us and him and masters like him such as Yesua is that they have realised their divine potential. That is why Hermes and Yesua were considered to be gods. Yesua said those who believe in him will do as he did and even greater (John 14:12.). The Biblical expression that we are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27) suggests we are fractals of God and we all have the same God-like potential.

According to Einstein’s special theory of relativity time dilates with acceleration. This is an important factor in the vortex theory because acceleration occurs into the centre of a vortex of energy so time would dilate or lengthen in the process. Simultaneously space shrinks. The result of this effect is that an hour in the life of a large elephant would be the equivalent of a day to a small ant. This is why elephants live longer than ants. If we were to scale up to galactic and Universe equivalents, billions of years to man would be the equivalent of weeks for a galaxy and seconds for the Universe. This is why the Vedic scribes were able to describe the coming and going of the Universe as a breath of Brahma.

Another issue to take into account is the unity of consciousness. Every proton has precisely the same mass and the same value of electric charge, magnetism and gravity as every other proton. If protons exist as acts of consciousness their identical properties suggest that they originate from a single universal consciousness. While the protons are many the consciousness underlying them appears to be the same. As protons constitute most of the mass of the Universe this logic leads to the conclusion that there is a single source consciousness underlying everything, including you and I and every atom and cell within us. If this is true the implications are immense. That which is singular cannot be divided so the unity of consciousness suggests that the consciousness within each one of us is the same unitary consciousness that brings everything in the Universe into being. The indivisibility of consciousness infers that while we are separate in body we are united in consciousness. This implies we are one being in many different bodies with the same conscious awareness in every one of us. Our individual life experiences may be different but that in us which is aware of our life experiences could be the same. Just as the conscious life in the trillions of cells in our body is effective as a single consciousness in us so the body of humanity could operate as a single being. War in our relationships or between nations is the equivalent of cancer.

The oneness of consciousness suggests that the essence of you is the essence of me; we may be the same essential Self in two different bodies. Our different bodies enable us to have different experiences and enjoy relationships with different embodiments of being in both humans and animals but the separation of being is an illusion. It is unreal but necessary. It is necessary in order that we can know ourselves; much as we do in a reflection.

The Knowledge of Self depends on relationship. We get to know ourselves in our relations with other beings and other things. This is how we know ourselves as being human. The mirror is an example of this. We see ourselves in a reflection that depends on our relationship with a mirror. The One became the many in order to know Itself. Theologians say we are the means whereby God knows him/herself. In a television programme Brian Cox said that through us the Universe is getting to know itself. As we recognise God as Life the line between religion and science dissolves.

The oneness of consciousness implies that each and every one of us is the same being in a different body. If that being is perceived as God then we could not be a fragment of God because God is not fragmented. The Self, the I AM conscious awareness in each one of us would be the same One, All-knowing, All-powerful, Universal principle. We give it many names: I AM, Higher Self, All That IS, God or just the One. We are all that One. When the Indian guru, Sathya Sai Baba was asked if he was God, he replied, “Yes, but so are you the only difference is I know it and you don’t.”

If each one of us is God why aren’t we infinitely powerful and all-knowing? Why aren’t we working miracles as Sathya Sai Baba and Jesus Christ did. The reason is we are in Self-denial. We don’t know our Self and we don’t believe in our Self. If our Self is God then our beliefs and imaginings would become our reality because universal reality is based on the imagination of God. If we live in denial and disbelief of the nature of our inner Self then by our own edict that becomes real for us. If in our true Self we are God then if we believe we are hopeless, helpless victims of circumstance, if we believe we are miserable sinners, then that is what we become.

Our real problem is we don’t know who we really are. Knowledge of Self is the imperative of human life. The religions stemming from Abraham do not support Self-knowledge, they suppress it. Instead of directing us to find our Self as the God within they direct us to worship a god without; an expression of God, not in our own being but in another being. Abraham didn’t meditate and go within to find God. He bowed down and worshiped an entity claiming to be Almighty God. In the wake of Abraham, billions are in denial of their divine Self. Abraham’s deity demands worship because he wants us to give our power to him and to him alone. If we idolize him, when our time on Earth is complete, he can take us as a soul into his own domain because of our own free will we will have given ourselves over to him. NDEs reveal this idolatry, known as monotheism, leads to damnation. This is why Valentinus said that the god of the Old Testament is, ”determined his creatures shall remain unaware of their source.” ⁹

There is wisdom in the Bible. The statement: Be still and know that I AM God (Psalm 46:10) suggests that God is the I AM presence within us. The I Am individualisation is the essence of who we really are. The I Am we know as Life is experiencing and expressing in us and in every human being and in every other creature that lives as well as in YHWH.

If God is treated as the Life within us all and in everything else then everything begins to makes sense. One Life is common to us all and to all sentient beings and from NDEs we know Life survives death. From the NDE perspective Life is a ubiquitous principle that animates all organisms and brings them into existence, sustains them and then destroys them only to regenerate them all over again. Hindus accept this as creation, preservation and destruction leading back to creation. For Hindus the endless cycle of Life is the trinity of God known as Bramha the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer.

If God is the Life within us, it would make sense to seek God within ourselves not outside of ourselves. This is why people meditate. As human beings we epitomise the relationship between God and energy. What is internal to us, our conscious awareness and our ability to think, create, love and reason, and our intent or free will; that is our inner God aspect. What is external to us, our individual bodies, behaviour, beliefs and genetic predispositions; that is our external body of energy. Taken together the external and internal make us the sentient human beings that we are. It is ancient wisdom that God or the Divine are the inner animating principles of Life and living organisms are the outer manifestations of Life that express these principles. This is the wisdom of Yoga.

The union of the inner realty of consciousness and the outer reality of the observed Universe of energy is the basis of Yoga. In Yoga there is continuity between energy and consciousness. As my daughter Jessica, a teacher of Yoga teachers said, “Everything goes back to Yoga.” If we tread the path of Yoga we will come to know, from experience, that there is distinction but no division between God and the Universe. We will come to appreciate this from our own inner Knowledge of God as our source of Life. This is Gnosis which means knowing. Yoga in the East and the Gnosis in the West are both concerned with our coming into the Knowledge of our innermost Source; the Self in us and everyone else, which is the source of the Universe. That is what being human is all about.

Most people have lost touch with the ancient wisdom teachings. From common experience most people identify with the body as their sole reality. They imagine they are nothing more than a body ruled by a brain. They think that is science when science has moved beyond that limited belief. A recent article in Scientific American ¹⁰ reveals the extent to which scientists throughout the world are reconsidering their scientific beliefs in the light of near death experiences. According to the article an astounding 5-10% of the general population are estimated to have memories of an NDE including 10-23% of cardiac arrest survivors. It says a growing number of scholars now accept NDEs as a unique mental state that can offer novel insights into the nature of consciousness. In the words of one neuroscientist, “Now really we don’t question anymore the reality of near death experiences. People who report and experience really did experience something.” The human condition is under the microscope in science where transcendent and mystical experiences are being reviewed alongside NDEs.

Near or after death experiences are changing the way scientists think by revealing that we are not just a body with a brain. Out of body experiences tell the brain is not the source of consciousness, it is an organ that puts a limit on consciousness. When people have an out of body experience their consciousness is expanded. Many people experience this when they experiment with hallucinogens. In his book Doors of Perception ¹¹ Aldous Huxley put forward the view that far from being the source of consciousness the brain is a limiter of consciousness. People who have had a transcendent experience are aware of themselves as Universal Consciousness. In the Vedic scriptures Consciousness, called Brahman, is considered to be the source of everything and all beings including the Creator. Plato was closer to ancient wisdom teachings than we are today. In his day the ancient libraries containing centuries of knowledge had not yet been destroyed in the name of religion. Plato taught that the Universe came into being so that Consciousness can express and experience itself. He also taught that each one of us is a unique expression of one consciousness. If we are the same conscious being in many bodies then if we hate and hurt others we hate and hurt ourselves but if we love and care for others we love and care for ourselves. The brotherhood and sisterhood of humankind are embodied in the concept that a single universal conscious Self is in everyone. This is our divine reality.

Paul Wallis concluded Echoes of Eden ¹² with a consideration of our fractal nature in relation to the Universe: “Look deep within yourself and you will find the Universe. Peer deep into the Universe and you will find yourself.” Buddha presented this mystic law of Life in his Lotus Sutra: “Our existence is identical to the Universe as a whole, and the Universe as a whole is identical to our existence.” So important is this mystic law of Life ‘while we are in the Universe the Universe is also in us’, that Nichiren Daishonin in thirteenth century Japan encouraged people everywhere to chant, ‘Nam-myoho-renge-kyo,’ which translates: ‘Devote to the mystic law of the Lotus Sutra’. This chant is intended to encourage people to find universal truth within themselves; to devote to the God within rather than a god without. God is within us waiting to be discovered. When we allow mental activity to subside and let Brahman, the Self, the Buddha within us, break through the clouds of constant thinking then the Sun of Life can shine fully within us. The chant stills the mind. Stilling the mind is the purpose of meditation and meaning of detachment. Detachment can only be achieved by releasing attachment to thoughts. Today millions of people throughout the world chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo as a mantra to quieten the mind and help achieve peace not only within themselves but to help bring harmony to humanity as a whole. Through resonance millions chanting the same mantra of truth helps to bring peace, prosperity and wellbeing to individuals, families and relationships and on into communities and nations.

If a single, indivisible consciousness underlies everything this unity of being would also apply to plants, animals and even inanimate things like rocks, the soil and the sea. The implication of this is that if we are cruel to the planet and to plants and animals we are being cruel to ourselves but if we care for plants, animals and the planet we are caring for ourselves. Our survival and the survival of the planet depends on our recognising the mystic law of life that we are one with everything and at our source we are the same one universal Self which is also the Self source of the Universe. This is the universal reality of Life. This is the reality of being human.

If we are all embodiments of the same Great One Divine GOD, then the command of Yesua to love God with all your heart and love your neighbour as yourself makes sense. To love God is to love your Self, not the small selfish self but the sublime Self, beyond thoughts and cares, deep within you and in everyone else. It is important to realise the Self is not the thinking mind that dominates our inner reality, it is the conscious Self that is aware of the mind. It is only when the mind is at peace that we can come into the realisation of Self; the source of our being.

It is not easy to still the mind but the Self-help guru, Richard Schwartz, has developed a system of Self-therapy which teaches us how to meet every part of the mind and treat it with love and acceptance. Like an angry child the mind refuses to be stilled or ignored. It can only be quietened with love and acceptance not by attempts to ignore it. We can only reach the true Self behind the mind and experience the source of compassionate loving kindness when we apply it to ourselves as well as to others. The Self then brings the mind to peace by compassion and understanding. Richard Schwartz encourages us to treat the mind as a family of parts that have issues to resolve. He teaches how to resolve these issues with love. His Internal Family Systems Model ¹³ for Self-therapy is a breakthrough because it teaches us how to be human and discover our Self in a way that is simple, profound and loving.

If we imagine the mind as a storm that drenches us in rain leaving us cold, wet and miserable, and the Self as the sun that comes out to warm, dry and make us feel better again, then we learn not to fight the storm but to be patient and allow it to subside knowing the sun is always there behind the clouds and it is only a matter of time before it shines again. The secret is not to focus on the storm but to find shelter in the steady rhythm of the breath. Focusing on breathing allows the breath to take us to a place of peace within. Focusing on breathing helps to restore inner peace and allows the mental storm to quieten down as the clouds of fear, doubt and anxiety disperse in the pervading peace of the Self. We can never beat the mind by battling with it, we have to treat it with love and placate its fears with wise understandings and sensitive curiosity as we would if it were a child. The most important thing for us to remember is that Life is a gift. Life that is indivisible individualises for us. It gives itself as a gift to everything that exists so that it can express and manifest. We have an innate ability, as individual expressions of Life, to know our Self and give gratitude back to the Self within us for the gift of Life we have been given and to live out of Love from that place of Knowledge. That is being human.
