Update July 23 - The Trump Republican House just passed a rule to advance Reconciliation 3.0 to the Senate.

Reconciliation 3.0 would provide an additional $95 billion for Trump’s unauthorized war AND support the anti-voter SAVE America Act.

Here’s the breakdown:

• $60 billion for Trump’s ongoing, unauthorized war with Iran

• $13 billion for intelligence activities related to the conflict

• $12 billion in farm assistance to address costs driven by the war

• $10 billion that could be used to advance provisions of the SAVE America Act, which would make it significantly harder for millions of eligible U.S. citizens, including nearly all citizens living abroad, to vote.

The package would add more than $100 billion to the national deficit without any offsets, while funding controversial policies through the budget reconciliation process, limiting debate and amendments.

The package is now with the Senate for consideration.

• Representative Joyce Beatty of Ohio has saved the Kennedy Center - Beatty, an ex officio board member, filed the original lawsuit against the administration. Her attorneys filed a motion with the U.S. Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia Circuit seeking the return of the Kennedy Center’s original name and the permanent removal of the tarp outside the building.

• More Than 770,000 Children Are No Longer Receiving SNAP Benefits After Trump Changes Federal Food Program. • Trump administration reverses decision to scrap ocean monitoring system. The Donald Trump administration has reversed its decision to dismantle a $368m deep-sea observation system following an outcry from lawmakers and ocean experts. • Rep. Jamie Raskin is moving to force a House vote on his NO CARTE BLANCHE Act, which would shut down Donald Trump’s proposed $1.8 billion taxpayer‑funded slush fund, block any similar future payouts, and overturn the sweeping “Super Pardon” granted to Trump, his family, and his businesses in a controversial settlement with the IRS. By filing a discharge petition, Raskin aims to bypass House leadership and require a vote to stop what he calls an unprecedented abuse of the Judgment Fund and a radical assault on the rule of law.

USPS is currently accepting comments on this proposal in a Federal public comment period. This period is one of the few opportunities we have to demand answers before these changes move forward. The deadline for submitting a comment is July 2, 5pm Eastern. Find the comment form here.

The USPS states that UOCAVA voters are outside the scope of this work. However, for U.S. citizens living abroad, any disruption to mail ballot delivery poses a significant threat to voter participation.

• Explain why reliable election mail service is essential for Americans living overseas.

• Describe any personal experiences with delayed ballots, international mail challenges, military mail, diplomatic pouch services, or ballot return deadlines.

• Point out that claiming UOCAVA voters are exempt does not necessarily mean UOCAVA voters are unaffected.

• Ask USPS to explain why it believes an exemption alone is sufficient protection for overseas and military voters.

• Ask what specific operational safeguards, performance standards, monitoring procedures, or contingency plans USPS will implement to ensure overseas and military voters remain fully protected.

The right to vote should not depend on where a U.S. citizen happens to live or serve. USPS should provide clear assurances that overseas and military voters will remain able to successfully receive, cast, and return their ballots.

Several Republicans moved to the opposition, saying that changing the map could disenfranchise some voters. Around 26,000 voters cast ballots in the first several hours after the polls opened, putting Tuesday on track to break early primary voting records.

1– Take Action: Oppose the GOP Reconciliation Bill Funding ICE and Border Patrol

Senate Republicans are pushing a budget reconciliation bill that would provide nearly $72 billion for ICE, Border Patrol (CBP), detention operations, and immigration enforcement while putting healthcare and other essential programs at risk.

The proposal includes $38.2 billion for ICE and $26 billion for CBP. Republicans are attempting to move the legislation quickly through the reconciliation process, which allows passage with a simple majority in the Senate. A vote could come before the Memorial Day recess.

This proposal comes after Republicans already poured roughly $170 billion into mass deportation infrastructure and immigration enforcement through previous legislation, while simultaneously cutting programs Americans depend on, including Medicaid and SNAP.

The legislation also comes amid ongoing concern over human rights abuses linked to ICE and CBP and after Congress failed to pursue meaningful reforms or accountability measures for either agency.

As the midterms approach, constituents must make clear that Congress should prioritize healthcare, affordability, civil rights, and democratic protections and not spend billions more on militarized enforcement operations and political intimidation.

The Supreme Court and Republicans Gutting the Voting Rights Act

At the end of last month, the Supreme Court decided to roll back the clock on the Civil Rights Movement- gutting Section 2 of the landmark Voting Rights Act that ended systemic racial discrimination in voting. With this decision, SCOTUS gave Republicans the power to undermine the voting power of black, Latino, AANHPI, Native American, and Alaska Native communities. This move could also allow the GOP to gain 27 seats by suppressing minority votes.

Donald Trump played a key role in this outcome. In September, the DOJ urged SCOTUS to permit Republican legislators to reduce or eliminate the electoral influence of voters of color. This request and SCOTUS’ ruling are all part of Trump’s strategy to manipulate congressional maps in the South and shield Republicans from accountability.

Let us be clear, Democrats will continue to fight tooth and nail for ALL Americans’ voices to be heard in November and in every election that follows. Racial gerrymandering has no place in democracy.

Ron deSantis is Breaking the Law to Help Trump Rig the Midterms

In a redistricting hearing last week, the architect of deSantis’ redrawn congressional map admittted to using partisan data- confirming that the map violates Florida’s constitution and the Fair Districts Amendment that voters overwhelmingly passed in a 2010 statewide referendum.

This move came just hours after the gutting of the VRA by SCOTUS, and seeks to reduce Democratic leaning districts in Tampa, Orlando, and parts of the state’s southeast coast. Polls show that a majority of Floridians do not support mid-decade redistricting, yet Republicans do not care. Trump’s Tariffs Crush Small Manufacturers.

A new report from the Senate Joint Economic Committee details how Trump’s reckless, idiotic tariffs have squeezed the small businesses that make up the American manufacturing base.

Trump’s so-called ‘Liberation Day’ has done nothing to help the manufacturing industry, with factory construction steadily declining, 102,000 jobs being lost, and profit margins decreasing by 24%.

Small businesses, which are the backbone of the manufacturing industry, could not weather the storm of Trump’s tariff's, and many have been forced to lay off workers, scrap extention plans, and even close their doors. Additionally, Trump’s reckless war is further driving costs as the global oil supply chain continues to be distrupted. Despite all this, Trump has done nothing to aid the impact that his policies are having on million of Americans.

Trump’s Tax Agenda Helps his Billionaire Friends and Hurts American Families.

This past tax day, billionaires were the ones reaping the benefits of the largest permanent tax handout for the top 1%, while the rest of us are struggling to afford gas, healthcare, and groceries. Trump’s twisted economic agenda has cost American households six times more than the average tax refund increase.

Our president continues to screw us over. Trump’s Big Ugly Bill gives more tax breaks to the top 1% than to the bottom 80% COMBINED, while actually raising taxes on the poorest 40%.

The average tax refund increase is $351, but tariffs and rising gas prices could cost Americans over $3,000. Meanwhile, the four largest tech companies avoided $51 billion in federal taxes because of Trump’s policies.

2– Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina and Tennessee Voters - Call Your State Legislators Now

Right now, Republican state leaders in Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina and Tennessee are moving to redraw congressional maps in the middle of active election cycles.

This isn’t routine redistricting. It’s a coordinated political maneuver that is designed to silence voters, disrupt elections already underway, and weaken representation for communities of color to give the Republican Party a default electoral advantage.”

In Alabama and Louisiana, Republican lawmakers are advancing redistricting efforts amid protests and legal challenges, raising serious concerns about fairness, representation, and the integrity of the electoral process.

In South Carolina, the Republican-led legislature is considering reconvening for a special session. NOW is the time to call your legislator and tell them NO.

In Tennessee, Republican leaders are calling for a special session to redraw the state’s 9th Congressional District in Memphis - the only remaining Democratic-held seat in the state and a majority-Black district. This follows a similar move in 2022, when Nashville’s district was split to dilute voter power.

Let’s be clear: These states are not being forced to act. They are choosing to. And they are choosing to do so after filing deadlines have passed and voting is already underway.

1. Save Our Forests – Demand Corporate Action Now

On April 21st, DA joined people around the world to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day reminds us to celebrate the natural world and recommit to protecting it. This year, make action part of that commitment. One of the largest threats to U.S. public lands in decades is unfolding right in front of us, and today is a powerful moment to take a stand.

On March 31, 2026, the Trump administration announced the largest forced purge of a federal land management agency in U.S. history. The plan targets the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), which manages 193 million acres of public land, an area larger than Texas.

The proposal includes closing all 10 regional offices, eliminating 57 research stations across 31 states, and replacing experienced leadership with political appointees. These changes would leave vast stretches of forest more vulnerable to wildfire, illegal logging, and environmental degradation.

Outdoor companies have long built their brands on access to public lands. On Earth Day, many highlight sustainability, stewardship, and a love of the outdoors. In 2019, several spoke out forcefully against similar threats. Today, too many remain quiet.

Silence is a position. And on Earth Day, it stands out.

The SaveUSFS campaign, organized by current and former public lands employees, is calling on individuals to push these companies to act - publicly and urgently.

3. Big wins in Virginia! Thank you!

On April 21st, Virginia passed their new redistricting plan by referendum, winning by around 88,939 votes. In 2024, around 195,000 Virginians voted from abroad, with more living overseas who likely did not vote. That means it was crucial for Democrats Abroad to turn out the overseas vote for this race, and we did!

The Virginia results prove that the work that we do matters. Finding Americans overseas, providing a community, and giving them the information they need to safely and reliably vote from abroad is central to winning tight races. And we will not stop here.

Indiana, Ohio, Nebraska, West Virginia, and Louisiana all have important primaries coming up. If you are from one of those states, it is time to cast your ballot!

MORE ATTEMPTS TO RIG THE UPCOMING MIDTERMS

ATTACKING MAIL-IN VOTING

Trump has made yet another attempt to rig the upcoming midterm elections by signing an executive order that would undermine mail-in voting, despite the fact that Trump himself voted by mail in last week’s special election in Florida. The order attempts to illegally assert federal control over elections by requiring the DHS, working with the Social Security Administration, to compile a list of verified U.S. citizens in each state who are eligible to vote.

This order is unconstitutional: the states control elections, not the president, not the federal government. Trump is once again trying to cheat because he knows he is going to lose big this November. This order is nothing more than an attempt to make it harder for U.S. citizens, including those living abroad, to vote, as he knows his only chance to keep the House this year is to suppress the vote.

THREATENING WAR CRIMES ON SOCIAL MEDIA

On Easter Sunday, instead of wishing Americans a happy and healthy Easter, our President resorted to swearing and threatening war crimes on social media. Trump issued a profane message renewing threats to bomb key civilian infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened. The only reason the Strait is closed is because of Trump’s illegal and incredibly stupid decision to start his war of choice.

In his post, Trump threatened power plants and bridges, which could be prohibited as military targets under the Geneva Conventions and could amount to a war crime. His post on Sunday resulted in many lawmakers calling for his removal from the White House by way of the 25^th Amendment.

PUMPING MONEY INTO A FRIVOLOUS WAR

GUTTING SOCIAL SERVICES TO PAY FOR HIS WAR

It is clear that Trump’s priorities are awry. Last week Trump admitted that ‘it’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things’ because of his war. This came just a few days before he unveiled a proposal to increase the military’s budget by $445 billion to pay for his deadly, reckless war. Republicans are even considering even more cuts to healthcare to help cover the cost of this additional funding.

This additional $445 billion to pay for his unpopular war, could instead be used to pay for a year of healthcare for more than 56 million Americans, a year of childcare for 32 million children, and school lunch for 30 million children throughout their entire K-12 education.

Every single major poll shows that the majority of Americans, including 40% of Republicans, disapprove of Trump’s war and that the U.S. should end the war quickly.

DISREGARDING AND DEFUNDING ESSENTIAL AGENCIES

PROPOSED CUTS TO ENVIRONMENTAL AGENCIES

Amidst worsening natural disasters and rising energy costs, Trump’s budget cuts $1.6 billion from the federal weather-tracking agency and fully eliminates a program to help working families afford their electricity bills.

Americans deserve relief from Trump’s imposed cost of living crisis, yet his budget proposal slashes funding for food assistance, affordable housing, and job training programs.

Virginia’s Redistricting Referendum

On April 21st, Virginians will vote on whether to allow the Democrat-controlled state legislature to redraw congressional districts, which could add up to four seats for Democrats for this year’s midterms.

This amendment would be a necessary response to redistricting moves in other states. Normally states redraw their districts every 10 years after a new census is conducted—the point being to make sure that congressional representation is connected to population changes. However, this year, Trump’s efforts to rig the upcoming midterms have meant that many Republican-controlled states, such as Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, and Florida, have redrawn their districts to maintain a GOP majority. These changes have potentially given Republicans an additional seven seats in Congress.

However, Democrats have swiftly responded and have potentially picked up 6 seats—5 in California and 1 in Utah. Democrats could gain 4 more seats in Virginia if voters approve the new congressional districts.

Why should Virginians vote YES?

These changes are a direct response to Trump’s gerrymandering and thus would restore fairness for the upcoming midterms.

They are a temporary and emergency solution—Virginia’s redistricting process will return to normal immediately after the 2030 census. This is simply a one-time, emergency exception designed for the current political climate.

This referendum gives voters the final say on how they want to be represented in Congress. Everyone can review the proposed maps before making their decision.

In short, voting YES will help stop the ongoing MAGA power grab so we can restore democracy and fairness in our country. What happens in Virginia this week could be pivotal in determining whether Democrats win control of the House in November’s midterms.

Democrats have to fight back and ensure that any of Trump’s anti-democratic actions do not go unchallenged. Vote YES to make sure that happens.

3. Take Action: Trump is Unfit. Demand Congress Act!

Donald Trump’s recent behavior has raised urgent alarms across the political spectrum. From threatening catastrophic military action to posting bizarre, self-aggrandizing content and lashing out at global leaders and institutions, his conduct is erratic and dangerous.

The Constitution gives us a solution, but so far, Congress has failed to carry it out.

More than 50 years ago, the 25th Amendment created a process to address presidential incapacity, including a nonpartisan body to help determine when a president can no longer carry out the duties of the office. That body has never been established. Now, Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD) has introduced legislation to finally create this independent, bipartisan Commission on Presidential Capacity.

By establishing the commission, it helps prepare the United States in case of real crisis at the highest level of leadership. Without it, there is no clear, credible process in place if a president becomes unable to govern responsibly and his cabinet is unwilling to act.
