David first noticed the young man as he blew out the 16 candles on the birthday cake in front of him, he was in a rumpled suit with the tie loose around his neck. His hair was a mess, like he had run his hands through it numerous times, which he had. He had a definite five o’clock shadow. All in all he looked like a man that was having a bad day.

David knew he was a ghost as soon as he saw him. Then their eyes met, instantly the ghost vanished only to reappear right in front of David.

“You can see me! You have to help me. He can’t get away with it.” He was flickering in and out as he yelled at David, then he was gone.

David was sure the ghost would be back, just not when. He had started seeing ghosts after a car accident that almost killed him, he died twice. He was brought back by paramedics that refused to give up both times. When he had come back from being dead he had the ability to see and hear ghosts. The first one had been a young busty girl that could only wear the thong she was murdered in. Apparently you had to wear the same clothes you died in. Her husband had killed her on camera then moved the flash drive to his safe. Together the two of them went in and liberated the safe and turned flash drives over to police. The Husband was charged with Murder.

David did not see the young man till he went to the pool for his nightly swim. When he had been in the car accident swimming was a big part of his rehab so the insurance had put in a pool for him as part of the lucrative settlement he received. The young man appeared as David walked up to the edge of the pool.

“I’m David”, he said.

“I am Jack, can you help me put a monster away?”

“Tell me,” David replied.

“ I am, or was a paralegal with the prosecuting attorneys office, I also like to roam around in the woods. While I was out one day I stumbled over a shallow grave that the wolves had dug up. They had torn the area up and there was not much left. I called it in and pretty soon there was a lot of activity then it all died out. When I asked about it I was told it had been moved to cold case status. That bothered me, but I said okay and dropped it. However I started looking back for missing persons that had never been found. The federal government had just set up the data base for missing persons and not many actually knew how to use it. In a 200 mile circle in 3 different states I found 31 missing persons reports. 17 of those reports had been teenage to 24 year old females. I did not say anything but I went back to that area and really looked at it. I found 3 areas that I thought might be graves.”

“The next morning I went to the chief of detectives, Vincent Rymes. He listened very intently and then asked me to take him out to the site. I said yes of course. It never dawned on me that he told no one what was going on or where he was going, at the time I thought it was just being careful. When we got there he asked me if I had told anybody else about this.

I told him I hadn’t. That’s when he grabbed my tie and pulled back, strangling me. I managed to scratch him enough I had blood on my fingers. When I was dead he carried my body about ¼ mile south and threw me off a cliff. At the bottom not far away was a den of wolves. My bruised and broken body lay on top of older bones with teeth marks scratched into the bigger ones. Well I had come out of the shock of dying as a ghost. Did you know that dogs and that includes wolves are very well aware of ghosts and are frightened of them.

I need someone to get outside authorities there to look at my body, they will find the DNA. But if it is local, Vincent will control the results. No way is he going to show them to anyone.’ Jack Finally ran out of steam and slumped with his head hanging down.

I had listened to Jack tell his tale and everything about it sounded plausible, but I needed to verify some details, like where this so-called graveyard is at. So I decided to go find it.

It was two days before the weekend so I had to wait till Saturday. The day dawned bright and clear as we set off just after 7. As we drove along I found out that Jack had been 26, he was attending law school at night and worked as a paralegal for the prosecutor’s office during the day. He had gone on 2 dates with a girl that had just moved in and he had been hoping it would develop into something.

It took us 2 hours to get to the turn off for the scenic view, It was Spectacular, we were up on a ridge overlooking a broad valley with hills breaking down and giving way to broad flat fields with a small river snaking its way to the horizon.

The trail led off to the left along a ridge before branching into two trails.

“The one to the right leads up to the area where the graves are, The one to the left leads down to the bottom of the cliff the bastard threw me off of.” Jack explained.

“Let’s go to the bottom of the cliff first.” David decided, “Then we go up to the graves.”

It took about half an hour to get to the bottom of the cliff where Jack’s body lay. David did not go any farther than he had to, the body was bloated, smelled bad and was covered in flies. It was all David could do not to throw up. They did not linger long by the body, but hurried back up the trail to where the graves were. When they got back to where the trail had split they started up the other one. As they walked along David found out quite a bit about ghosts. He found out there were basically 3 types of ghosts. Jack was a justice seeker. He wanted to correct a wrong. Then there were the vengeful ghosts, they were angry and wanted to torment someone. This is where most poltergeists came from. Then there was the Granny ghost, those who just wanted to watch. They usually got bored after a while and faded away.

The trail had been leveling off for a while when it broke through the trees to a warm sunlit grassy meadow. There was a faint game trail that run across the meadow. Down about a hundred yards off to the right there was a distinct but faint depression in the ground about 5 feet long by 3 feet long. It could have been anything but it sure looked like an old grave. Jack pointed out two more.

“Okay, I have seen enough, it’s time to get somebody else involved.” David said.

When David had helped Shelly he had met the chief of the police department in his hometown. There was never any hint of ghostly behavior about the case he had brought to the chief, but he had been impressed by the man’s demeanor.

The chief was sitting at his desk behind a stack of papers. “Well kid what did you find this time?” the chief asked half laughing.

“I found a dead body,” David said deadpan.

That got the chief’s attention immediately! “Where?” he asked.

David told him the mile marker but told him he would have to guide someone from there.

Okay let’s go I am a deputy sheriff as well as chief of police so I’m covered.

David led them to Jack’s body, but once again stayed back from the whole thing. Once the scene was under control David led the Chief up to where they thought were graves. The chief took one look and ordered some men to start digging.

They ended up finding 13 bodies, all young women all decomposed so much there was little to go on.

That was not the case with Jack, he was identified by his ID card in his wallet, and dental records. They also found DNA and blood samples under Jack’s fingernails. The entire state was shocked when the DNA was confirmed to be the lead detective Vincent Rymes. It took a little more than 2 years before everything had been done and Vincent’s execution date was set. I was a witness to Vincents lethal injection execution.

Jack was hidden in the corner but I saw him give me a small wave as he faded from sight one last time.

Forest’s replacement was a level headed career CIA operative named Niels Sumner. He was competent without the flamboyance of Forest, so when he called Kevin’s office for an appointment he was given one right away.

“Come in Niels,” Kevin greeted him warmly. “Can I get you a cup of coffee or some tea?”

“No thanks Kevin, I want to brief you on some disturbing developments. We keep a very close relationship with South Korea, for obvious reasons. They have a couple of deep cover assets in North Korea. Last month the North Korean government received a complete set of plans and specifications for a new missile seeking system. Ours.

My next stop is the Secretary of Defense, he is not going to be happy. Top level scuttlebutte is you are trying to resurrect one of Forest’s secret teams. I hope so because

my hands are tied and I don’t think the FBI will have any luck.

Kevin thought about it, he knew Niels was a solid man and knew how to keep his mouth shut, besides it would be good to have a line into the CIA.

“Well to quote Forrest let me look into it. Any suspects?” Kevin asked his guest.

“Not really but it would have to be someone with access, on the military side that’s probably 25 to 30 people. I am not sure on the contractor’s side but I can find out.”

“If you can and a list of military who had access.

Kevin called Jimmy and invited him and John to dinner that night, telling him he had some information on a judge that was up for senate approval.

When they arrived at Kevin’s house they were met at the door by a dazzling Redhead. She was tall and had an athletic build but what caught your attention was her beautiful green eyes and the spray of freckles across the bridge of her nose.

“Welcome, I’m Jasmine, Kevin is my Dad. You must be Jimmy and John. Come on in, Dad is in the study and I have a few things to finish for Dinner.

Kevin rose to greet them as Jasmine escorted them into the study. “I see you have met my daughter, She kindly agreed to cook for us, I didn’t want to discuss this in a restaurant.”

“Probably not a bad idea.” John agreed.”

“Well dinner will be ready in about 20 minutes, I’ll call when it’s done, Can I get you gentlemen something to drink?”

“Why don’t you bring us a pitcher of Iced Tea, sweetheart? Kevin asked his daughter.

“Ice Tea it is then.” She walked out to get the pitcher.

“So how are the kids Jimmy?”

“Good, they are starting to crawl. Shelly said they were a little ahead of the curve, but not sure what she means.”

John just smiled, he knew that Mom was keeping a very close eye on all four of her grandchildren, all four of them showed increased mental abilities with Jack and Melina’s boys being somewhat telepathic.

Jasmine came back in with the Iced Tea and served them all.

When Jasmine left Jimmy turned to Kevin, “Okay whats up, Kevin?”

North Korea just received the spec’s and final plans for a new missile seeker head. It came straight from The Pentagon.”

“That’s not good, any clues as to how it got there?” Jimmy inquired.

“Of course not, otherwise why would I be talking to you.” Kevin said with humor in his voice.

“Okay you got me there.” Jimmy replied.”You have a plan?”

“Sure, dump it in your lap.” This time Kevin did laugh at his dig at Jimmy.

“Thanks Kevin, just what I need, another headache. Do you have any idea how to get started?” Jimmy asked.

“Well kinda, I want us all to attend the annual Military Ball that The White House puts on every year. Every top military officer will be there, I think they leave Lieutenants in charge that night. So what I’m thinking is that we get whoever is the most sensitive one of the four in to see what they can get.” Kevin told them.

John laughed as He said, “ You still do not understand we are all very sensitive. “Jack is the strongest at moving things but he is the weakest when it comes to communication, he can only pick up thoughts from about a mile. Unless it is with one of us, there doesn’t seem to be a limit on our conversations between the 6 of us. In another year or so Jimmy could do it. You remember Ce Ce? Joan had all the details from her in about 2 minutes but we had to get evidence, mind reading is not admissible in court.”

Jimmy took up the narrative, “I think that Joan and John will be enough for this exercise. Joan is my wife and John my head of Security, Their presence would not be out of place.”

“Are you sure Jimmy? This is a highly dangerous situation and I can’t miss anything.”

John sighed and said, “You have a beautiful daughter, Kevin, When she was born you told your wife that she had completed your life.”

Kevin just stared at John. How could he know that, a terrible sadness rushed through Kevin? He still mourned his wife who had been killed in a plane crash 5 years ago.

“I’m sorry to have triggered your grief sir but I need you to know just what we can do. I complimented you on your daughter and then lifted your first thought of her and that’s what came up first. I could tell you about any memories you have by triggering them. Just like I did by mentioning your daughter.” John explained. When Jimmy started questioning Rufus he started with something small but hidden deep so Rufus got to wondering what else Jimmy knew when he did that I lifted the info from him.

Jasmine came in and announced dinner was done. As John rose she linked her arm in his and said, “So you

are a twin, Twins have always fascinated me. I’ve heard some twins are so close they can sense the other, has that ever happened with your twin.”

John laughed as he replied. “All the time, Jack is teaching his boys to swim at the moment.”

“Now I know you are teasing me,” Jasmine replied.

He wasn’t quite sure why he did it but John sent it directly to her mind. “No I’m not, not this time anyway!”

Jasmine gasped as she grasped what John had done. Then she became extremely embarrassed at what else she had been thinking.

John knew she had been thinking of him but he was not about to let on he had heard her sexual desire for him.

“It does come in handy sometimes.” John told her in the normal way.

“So you two are completely identical?” Jasmine asked, trying to regain her balance.

“Yep, in high school we played quarterback and tight end. Before every game we would flip to see which one would be quarterback. The only ones who caught on were our sisters and our parents.” John told her.

Dinner was excellent and John really enjoyed talking to Jasmine. After dinner Jasmine told her Dad “I’ll clean up then let myself out Dad, so I don’t interrupt your meeting.”

“Thanks sweety, you take such good care of me.”

Jasmine turned and told John, “ it was nice to meet you, John.” Wondering if he was going to ask her out, she hoped so, she liked what she saw.

John gave her a wicked grin and sent to her, “Lunch tomorrow at the old Post Office, say 1:00”

“Yes I think I would like that.” Jasmine told him.

The other two men had headed back to the study so they missed that little interaction.

On a whim John invited Jasmine to Hawaii, she could come with her Dad, he was coming on friday and staying till Monday. Jasmine readily agreed, becoming more intrigued by this incredibly handsome man.

David was a normal 15 year old boy, nothing to make him stand out. He had the normal interests as any boy his age. He was just becoming aware of girls as good things, and was at that awkward age where he didn’t know how to approach them.

On an August afternoon at 2:15 all that changed. The police estimated the car that hit them was travelling at 60 mph. David was the only survivor of three boys riding in the car going home from school.

David died in the ambulance but the paramedics would not let him go. The only thing is that David’s spirit was in a different place. A place of filmy gauze where he could feel his grandfather but not see him.” David go back…” Then he woke up in the ER, Medical people surrounding him poking and proding him all very intent at their tasks. He slowly came to enough to realize he was hurt but he was being treated, then a wave of pain hit him and he was gone

David opened his eyes to white. The floor was white the ceiling was white and the walls were not there, he realized. Nothing as far as he could see. Then suddenly his grandfather was seated on a bench in front of him..

“Sit David we do not have a whole lot of time.” his grandfather gestured him to sit, so he did.

“Am I dead Grandpa?” David asked.

“No David we are in Limbo, a state outside your world but not the final resting place but in between. We can talk here for a short time. You have been selected to help balance karmas books. You will live but when you awake you will be able to see and hear certain spirits. At first this will seem like madness but you will learn to filter out the clutter so you can hear the genuine cries for help.” With that David’s grandpa started to fade then the room started getting dark.

David opened his eyes to find a nurse watching over him, when she saw that he was waking up she smiled at him

“Welcome back to the land of the living young man. You gave the doctors quite the fright for a while till they stabilized you. You are in the recovery room, you were in surgery for 12 hours and here in recovery for 2 days. My name is Robin and I am your nurse for today, now do you feel like having some broth? No solid foods yet I am afraid.”

W..Water David croaked out.

So began David’s recovery. He stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks and then had Physical Therapy for 6 weeks after that.

His first contact with a ghost was a young woman wearing a thong bikini bottom and nothing else. She had David’s full attention when she first appeared to him. He was sitting on a bench with his head down recovering from a 3 mile run on the treadmill. All of a sudden two bare feet and shapely legs stood in front of him. He lifted his head as he took in her well toned legs that kept going till they met with a very small piece of cloth he paused for a second taking in the sight before he continued upward across a flat belly up to two incredible fantastic breasts he had ever seen. What really made them stand out is they were completely uncovered.

When she noticed that he could see her, she smiled. “You’re David right? And you can see me right, can you hear me as well? She looked down at the bulge in his pants David was trying to hide. “Yep, no doubt you can see me. Now will you help me?”

All David could do was nod and croak out yes.

“I will see you outside, too many people in here.” then she was gone. Vanished from one split second to the next.

David shook his head trying to get some clarity on what had just happened. Had he imagined it all, but she had looked so real. He remembered every detail very well, he was a male teenager and she had been the first naked girl he had ever seen in real life. But if she was a ghost did that count? His hormones said yes.

She appeared again outside as David got to his bike. She was still just wearing that tiny thong.

David really admired the view; the swell of her hips were intoxicating and he was mesmerized by her naked chest.

“Hey David Im dead, Im a ghost you cant touch me see.” she reached out and put her had through his chest. So get your hormones under control and help me out. Okay?”

“Okay but can’t you put on more clothes?” he asked. He did not really want her to cover up but he was trying to be a gentleman.

“Nope you have to wear what you died in. At least the bastard let me get my underwear back on before he shoved me off the balcony.

Let me explain. My name is Shelly and my so-called husband murdered me on our wedding night. We were at his villa on the sea. The master bedroom has a balcony that overlooks the ocean. The prick was all romantic as he stripped me out of my wedding gown and lay me down on the bed. After he rolled off me I was disappointed. I thought sex was supposed to be wonderful. I just felt used. I got up, pulled my thong back on and wandered out to the balcony.. He came up behind me and pushed me over the edge, laughing as he did so. That was a month ago. Since then he has convinced the police I was drunk and fell off the edge. My body was never found so the bastard is getting away with it. He also took out a huge insurance policy on his new bride. Since it was ruled an accident his is going to collect the insurance. Yesterday he seduced my little sister. Will you help me?”

“How can I help you?” David asked, trying not to stare at her exposed breasts.

“You can help me get proof to the cops, I can’t touch it but I know the code to the safe and the alarm codes. You could go in when he is not there. He only goes out there on the weekends.”

“I am not saying I will do it but when would we do it?” David asked,

“How about next week He is going out of town on Monday and won’t be back til Wednesday.”

“How do you know all this?”

“I haunt his every waking hour. Plotting his downfall.”

David was captivated by this girl and not just because she was half naked. She was funny. She had a fun bubbly vibe even in death. David truly wished she was not a ghost.

David got home and Shelly had left him for the time being. He was still unsure about what he was going to do.

He had a normal evening. His mom made dinner and everyone was gathered around to eat. His Dad, Mom, his little brother and his older sister. Dinner was kind of a special time since he had almost died. Closer somehow, The one time in the busy day they could all relax with each other.

Later that night he watched an action movie about a guy trying to save his buddy by getting evidence that would prove his innocence. The Movie was over the top with outrageous obstacles to overcome, lots of car chases and even a brief nude scene by the lead actress. She kind of looked like Shelly, so he thought about her and thought about how he would feel if it was his sister. That’s when he made a decision that would shape the rest of his life. He was going to help Shelly!

After the movie David put his swim trunks on and went to the pool. This had been part of the settlement from the accident for rehabilitation of his body, there was also a bunch of money tied up in trusts that he could access for school only till he was 30 when he would receive the bulk of the fund.

When he got to the pool Shelly was waiting for him. She was still wearing just that little thong, By now David had gotten used to her lack of clothing somewhat. He did not stare but he did pay close attention to her.

“So will you help me?” she asked.

“Yes I will.” he told her

Shelly immediately starts jumping up and down squealing with delight.

David just stared at her as everything jiggled tantalizingly just in front of him.

Then Shelly jumped on him wrapping her legs and arms around him and for a moment he actually felt her before she changed back to non physical form. She pulled herself off of him and stood still vibrating with excitement.

They planned out how they were going to get the info to the police. Shelly had watched him after she died and so she knew exactly where the camera had been and where he put the flash drive. Shelly was furious that she had been taped in sexual acts but she was going to get her revenge. She also knew that he kept cash in that safe so the plan was to grab the cash and any flash drives in there. Then David would take the drives to the police saying he found them by the bike trail.

Monday around noon David rode up to the back of the house. The guy was cheap and did not have cameras in the back. He walked up to the back door and put in the code, the door unlocked, he opened it and walked to the alarm panel and put the code in and the alarm deactivated. David looked around at the obvious wealth in this house. He shook his head and headed for the bedroom. He went to the safe, put in the code and opened the safe. Inside were 6 flash drives and 4 thick stacks of $100 bills. Just as he was about to grab everything he heard a car in the driveway. The car stopped and he heard a door shut. He was close to panic when Shelly appeared. “

“Be still, its the security service they will check the front door and then leave, sometimes they don’t even get out of the car.” Shelly whispered

David’s heart rate was through the roof. Then he heard the car door open then close and then the sound of the car leaving. He sat down to let his heart rate return to normal. Then with one final look around, he turned to go. As he closed the back door Shelly appeared beside him again.

“We got the bastard now.” Shelly again bounced up and down with excitement. David just grinned and enjoyed watching her. She had such a bubbly personality and she looked great bouncing up and down.

The rest was very simple. Later that day David rode his bike to the police station and told the police he had watched all of the flash drives when he realized there was video of a man pushing a woman off the balcony after having sex with her. Both faces were caught on camera so there was no doubt about identity. There were other sexual interludes caught on tape and 3 of the flash drives had financial records showing money being moved around. David claimed to have got off his bike to walk it up a steep hill when he found the leather pouch that held the flash drives. He did not mention the $100,000 in cash.

Within 24 hours The man that murdered Shelly was arrested and charged with Murder, Rape and Financial fraud, all preserved on the flash drives.David saw Shelly one last time she came up to him at the pool and gave him a hug and for almost 2 minutes she felt real. Warm, soft, exciting then she faded away.

David was sure this was not the last encounter with a ghost he would have.
