Many kids are back in school, and my daughter goes back to her senior year in college this weekend. The good news is that this is a late Labor Day this year, and the second half of August is arguably the best time to regroup and chill before the surge and momentum that I expect through year end. I always say, the great equalizer to the end of summer is the start of Football season.

We have been busy since our July briefing, as exact match and category defining domain transactions continue to dominate, led by some of the strongest brands and companies. In that time, we oversaw the sale/acquisition of several important deals including Runway.com, Glow.com, Emdash com, Electron.ai and Snore.com. At the time of the publication of this briefing, we are in the trenches and in some cases on the 1 yard line, of over 12 high profile domain negotiations.

This month, I wanted to briefly highlight an important factor that is often overlooked, yet can become mission critical, when it comes to owning your company’s exact-match .com domain name.

The offensive reasons for owning the exact-match .com are well understood. It becomes the company’s definitive digital address and identity. It provides the exact-match email address. It conveys trust and credibility, and improves recall and memorability.

But there is another side to the equation that gets far less attention: defense.

We have encountered the same set of circumstances with numerous companies over the years, and I believe it is becoming increasingly important as AI search, digital discovery and online reputation play larger roles in how consumers find and evaluate companies.

For purposes of this example, let’s use a real situation but call the company “Acme.” Acme is a rapidly growing company that does not own Acme.com. Instead, it operates at Acme.system.

During 2026, Acme.com has received numerous inquiries from customers who actually intended to reach Acme.system. These aren’t simply people typing the wrong URL, realizing their mistake and leaving. They are customers contacting Acme.com with actual questions or issues, often inputting extremely sensitive data or information. involving Acme.system. In some instances, they genuinely believe they are communicating with the company they intended to reach. They are employees or partners of Acme.system, intuitively emailing something confidential to the .com, because that is how people behave. This creates a potentially significant and largely invisible brand risk.

A customer has a problem with Acme. They instinctively go to Acme.com. They send an inquiry and, because Acme.com isn’t the company they think it is, their problem goes unanswered or unresolved. From the customer’s perspective, however, Acme ignored them. They then do what people do which is slam Acme in a review or on social media, letting others know about their experience. The company may never even know the interaction occurred, yet its brand can bear the consequences. We have seen variations of this scenario many times.

To me, it provides unusually tangible evidence of something we often discuss more theoretically in domain transactions: Customers naturally assume that Acme is at Acme.com. That assumption has value when you own the domain, and potential consequences when you don’t. Owning Acme.com would consolidate that traffic, eliminate confusion, protect the brand and ensure that the most authoritative version of Acme on the Internet actually belongs to them.

The larger Acme becomes, the more valuable Acme.com becomes to Acme.More customers mean more searches, more emails, more direct navigation and more opportunities for confusion. Growth doesn’t necessarily diminish the importance of the exact-match domain. In many cases, it magnifies it. And what happens if someone else acquires Acme.com? If another well-capitalized company builds a substantial business under the brand at the .com, the problem doesn’t disappear. It potentially becomes much larger. That company receives the benefit of the intuitive destination, while the original Acme continues operating on a modified domain.

It is about identity, authority and control. And increasingly, I believe the defensive value of that control can be every bit as important as the offensive opportunity. We are seeing it over and over at levels I have not seen before in my 28 years overseeing the highest profile domain transactions.

Featured Domains

All of our exact-match and category-defining domain names can be viewed at ATMHoldings.com.

We continue to add exceptional assets to the portfolio we represent, including some new additions:

ID.com

Ask.com

Pronto.com

Premier.com

Eclipse.com

HR.com

Hat.com

Shopper.com

Giant.com

Daytrader.com

Scoop.com

Two.com

Investment.com

Invests.com

Investor.com

1A.com

Rift.com

Factor.com

3B.com

Ascend.com

Altitude.com

AJ.com

Hire.com

Closer.com

Enjoy the rest of the summer.

-Andrew

About ATM Holdings

ATM Holdings was founded by Andrew Miller, one of the world’s leading premium domain advisors, with more than 28 years of experience and over $1 billion in premium domain transactions across virtually every major industry.

Andrew has overseen many of the most prominent category-defining and exact-match domain transactions in history. The temperatures are hot, and so are premium domain assets.

With the continued rise of AI, the strategic importance of owning the exact-match brand and category-defining .com is increasing rapidly. More companies are coming to the realization that in a world increasingly intermediated by AI, trust, authority, and discoverability matter more than ever.

Over the past 28 years, I have invested in and advised on some of the world’s most valuable domain names. In my experience, these assets generally fall into four distinct buckets, but none are more valuable than the category-defining domain.

Think Home.com, IRA.com, Chocolate.com. Chat.com.

The category domain is the gateway to the industry..

I founded CreditCards.com, and that name alone enabled us to compete alongside massive, established incumbents while building a profitable, trusted, and ultimately successful business. There is no Plan B for the category-defining term. There is only one.

Ultimately, there is always someone, whether a Fortune 500 management team, a VC backed platform company, or a first-time entrepreneur, who concludes that owning the category-defining .com is a strategic imperative and a foundational asset that positions their company for market leadership. That conviction is what drives the ceiling on these assets higher than almost any other class of digital property..

These transactions require something very specific: an internal champion who unequivocally understands why they want the asset and exactly what they intend to do with it. I have seen this play out repeatedly across transactions involving Home.com, IRA.com, Chat.com, and many others.

Interestingly, the value proposition can become even more compelling when the category is condensed into just two letter, such as two names we are overseeing, HR.com or ID.com, where simplicity, memorability, and strategic significance intersect.

Last month, I highlighted one of our recent transactions and the success Breeze has experienced following its acquisition of Breeze.com. June proved to be another exceptional month, with more than $15 million in premium domain transactions closing. These transactions helped both market leaders and emerging growth companies secure their exact-match brands and category-defining assets.

One standout: We closed the deal for TPT.com for our great friends at IXL, for their amazing company, Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT). This was timed perfectly with the announcement of TPT’s 20th anniversary. The whole company was thrilled to finally have its exact-match domain.

Another notable transaction was Thursday.com, acquired by an impressive team based in the United Kingdom. They completed their transition to Thursday.com this week, and I have no doubt they’ll quickly appreciate the power of operating on their exact-match .com.

Featured Domains

All of our exact-match and category-defining domain names can be viewed at ATMHoldings.com.

We continue to add exceptional assets to the portfolio we represent, including some new additions:

StartUp.com

VentureCapital.com

PrivateEquity.com

Scoop.com

VisitSpace.com

Investor.com

Investment.com

Rift.com

Factor.com

3B.com

HomeRun.com

Ascend.com

Altitude.com

Pronto.com

AJ.com

HR.com

Hire.com

Ask.com

Closer.com

From VentureCapital.com and PrivateEquity.com, arguably (along with StartUp.com) the front doors to the global capital market, to iconic one-word brands like Ask.com and Ascend.com, these assets continue to demonstrate why premium domains remain one of the rare asset classes where scarcity, utility, and strategic importance all converge.

Transactions are booming. Over the past several weeks we have completed deals for IRA.com, Runway.com and, together with our partners at Hilco Digital, Mom.com and TPT.com, with many more in the final stages. I see no slowdown, even into July, as the most valuable exact match and category defining domain assets continue to increase in strategic importance in the eyes of founders, management teams, and investors.

The weather is spectacular on the East Coast, the US Open is right around the corner from where I am spending June, and the Knicks are on the doorstep of sports mania not seen in years. I am not a Knicks fan, but wow, this is going to be something if they pull this off. They are genuinely good, and I will reluctantly admit I kind of like Brunson, KAT and even OG.

This week I read a series of LinkedIn posts from Breeze CEO Millie Yang, an impressive founder I had the pleasure of working with when we oversaw the sale of Breeze.com last year. Her story is a perfect illustration of how domain acquisitions actually happen.

As Millie wrote, she founded Breeze in August 2022. FTX collapsed three months later. SVB followed. The industry consensus became that crypto was dead, banks were dropping crypto clients, and their entire pipeline went quiet overnight. Most founders would have hit the brakes. Instead, she went back to the drawing board. They stayed under ten people for two years, did every job manually before hiring anyone, and answered every customer support call personally. That obsession was the only thing that got them through.

We spoke a few times during that period, but they did not yet have the means to acquire the domain. Then one Friday night in December 2025, my phone rang. It was Millie. She had secured a new round of capital and by the end of that night, we had a deal. Breeze upgraded from Breeze.cash to Breeze.com.

That upgrade is not a vanity purchase. It is a statement of permanence: we are still here, and we are the official Breeze. The exact match .com answers the call every time. Trust, authority, brand recall, email security, all of it cemented in one move. The internet’s prime real estate does not go on sale. It just changes hands.

Featured Domains

All of our exact match and category defining domains can be viewed at www.ATMHoldings.com. Almost every deal I am involved in is under NDA, and I believe strongly in protecting the confidentiality of both buyers and sellers.

But sometimes the buyer makes their own choice.

Our client Dharmesh Shah purchased Chat.com (and subsequently sold it to OpenAI) and revealed the price publicly on Lenny Rachitsky’s podcast: $15.5 million. That is his right as the buyer, and I respect it completely.

Why Chat.com is different:

Chat.com is one of the most significant exact-match domain transactions in history. Not just because of the price, but because of what it represents.

As AI reshapes how the world communicates and searches, owning Chat.com positions OpenAI with a brand asset of extraordinary long-term value. There is only one Chat.com. There will never be another. Every person who types “chat” into a browser and adds “.com”, whether out of habit, intuition, or a half-remembered ad -- lands there.

That is not a traffic stat. That is brand permanence.

What the public record misses:

Chat.com, Rocket.com ($15M), and Gold.com ($8.6M) are rare in that their prices became public. The vast majority of significant domain transactions never surface. I completed a deal in 2021 that was larger than all three of those It may never be reported.

The published charts are useful, but they represent a fraction of what is actually happening in this market.

The bottom line:

Every time a landmark transaction like Chat.com becomes public, it gives the entire asset class a data point it desperately needs. Exact-match, category-defining .com domains are the single most important brand investment a company can make. OpenAI understood that. The companies that figure it out next will look back on that decision as one of the best they ever made.

Andrew Miller is one of the world’s top domain brokers and founder of ATM Holdings. $650M+ in transactions including Chat.com ($15.5M, OpenAI), Rocket.com ($15M), Green.com ($7.5m), Home.com ($15M), Club.com ($10M), Icon.com ($12M), and Gold.com ($8.6M). Sometimes theory lands better with a real example. So let me give you one that happened to us directly.

ATM Holdings oversees the domain name Trivia.com.

One week, I started receiving email, first a handful, then dozens, then over 100 in two days, asking about a trivia game I’d never heard of.

I investigated. It turned out that legendary Jeopardy champion Alex Jacob had appeared on a champions tournament that week and mentioned his product: SchoolofTrivia.com.

Nobody heard the “School of” part. They just heard *Trivia* and typed Trivia.com into their browser.

The result: over 100 misdirected emails, some almost certainly confidential customer inquiries, support requests, and business communications meant for Alex’s company, landing in our inbox instead.

Now scale that up.

What happens when a company runs a $30 million Super Bowl ad and viewers catch only half the domain name? What happens when your enterprise clients email the wrong address because your exact-match .com belongs to someone else? What happens when a competitor acquires your category domain and captures every customer who types it by instinct?

This is not hypothetical. It happens with every single company that isn’t operating on its exact-match .com. Sometimes it’s customers. Sometimes it’s internal staff. Sometimes it’s journalists. Sometimes it’s your investors.

Can you afford for that to happen to your business?

The answer is no. The cost of not owning your domain is almost always larger than the cost of acquiring it. You just don’t see the invoice,

Andrew Miller is one of the world’s top domain brokers and founder of ATM Holdings. $650M+ in transactions including Chat.com ($15.5M, OpenAI), Rocket.com ($15M), Green.com ($7.5m), Home.com ($15M), Club.com ($10M), Icon.com ($12M), and Gold.com ($8.6M). rarely get to do this.

In 28 years and over $650 million in premium domain transactions, almost every deal I oversee is under NDA. The prices don’t come out. The buyers stay quiet. The market moves in private.

But today is a genuine exception.

I can confirm that ATM Holdings oversaw the sale of Club.com for $10 million — making it one of the top ten publicly reported domain sales of all time, according to DN Journal.

The buyer has now emerged from stealth mode. Club is an invite-only social platform built for creators, powered by Club Cash — giving creators a new way to engage, grow, and monetize their audience. The founders behind it have already built Stake and Kick into major platforms. I have no doubt they’ll do the same with Club.

Why this deal matters beyond the number:

This is a perfect example of what I’ve spent my career arguing. The brand is the domain. Club.com doesn’t just describe what the company does — it is the category. There will never be another Club.com. And in a world where trust is earned in milliseconds, that is worth more than any marketing budget.

In my past deals, the price became public through the buyer’s choice — Dharmesh Shah disclosed the $15.5M for Chat.com on Lenny Rachitsky’s podcast. In others like Rocket.com ($15M), Green.com ($7.5m), and Gold.com ($8.6M), it surfaced through SEC filings. Club.com is different — I can confirm it directly.

This is what it looks like when the right brand finds the right domain.

Andrew Miller is one of the world’s top domain brokers and founder of ATM Holdings. $650M+ in transactions including Chat.com ($15.5M, OpenAI), Rocket.com ($15M), Green.com ($7.5m), Home.com ($15M), Club.com ($10M), Icon.com ($12M), and Gold.com ($8.6M). Summer arrives in New England, the golf courses are at their best, the PGA Championship is upon us, and this year it began with my annual trip to Jazzfest in New Orleans with my son and daughter. The beat was strong, the city was alive, and that energy carried right into what has been another remarkable month in the ultra-premium domain asset class.

On the Boston sports front, we will have to wait until next year for playoff basketball and hockey. But in domains, the momentum could not be stronger.

Why This Wave Is Different

In 28 years, I have been through every type of economy, market cycle, and tech boom and bust. Throughout all of them, the most premium domain names have remained valuable, recession proof, and among the strongest performing assets on a standalone ROI basis.

There are waves, however. Q1 2021, when the Zoom and Peloton phase emerged during COVID, was one such wave. Domain assets skyrocketed as businesses were reinvented overnight. That wave was short lived. As life returned to normal, many of those businesses struggled, while others like Zoom became a permanent part of everyday life.

The current wave is different. It is bigger, longer lasting, and not the product of a moment. It is about the revolutionary emergence of AI. The surge in domain transactions and values is driven by the massive flow of capital into new AI companies, and by the growing recognition that owning the category-defining, exact-match brand domain for your business has never mattered more. A category-defining .com is a one of one asset. You only get one opportunity to own it.

I expect many more significant transactions to unfold in the coming months.

May Transactions

May began with the sale of IRA.com, a category-defining transaction and a true win-win for buyer and seller. There are approximately $14 trillion in total IRA assets in the United States, representing roughly 30 to 35 percent of all U.S. retirement assets, making IRAs one of the largest pools of investable capital in the world. We also oversaw the sale of SPAC.com, which I find particularly exciting as I believe SPACs are returning as a serious investment vehicle. ATM Holdings and HDA additionally oversaw the sales of Upscale.com and Energize.com.

Featured Domains

We are now overseeing the sale of one of the most iconic domain names and brands of the Internet era: Ask.com. As you may have read, IAC made the decision to focus on its core businesses and retired Ask on May 1. This is one of the most valuable domains ever to come to market, which is why I have partnered with my close friend and colleague Larry Fischer to oversee this transaction. Between Larry and ATM, we have sold four of the most valuable domains of all time including AI.com ($70M), Chat.com, Home.com, and Rocket.com.

We are excited to be advising on HR.com, representing one of the largest industries in the world with trillions of dollars in economic activity. We also continue to represent ID.com and some of the most valuable two-letter category-defining .com domains on the Internet. We have a strong track record in this space, having sold multiple highly valuable two-letter domains over the years.

Some other new domains include AJ.com, Pronto.com, Factor.com, Embed.com, Emdash.com, Drinks.com, Fan.com, Shorts.com, Ascend.com, and Fomo.com. Each represents a category, a brand opportunity, or both. All of our current listings are available at www.ATMHoldings.com.

About ATM Holdings

ATM has been a principal, founder, investor, and advisor on many of the most prominent category-defining and exact-match domain transactions of the past 25 years. Recent highlights include Chat.com ($15.5M, OpenAI), Rocket.com ($15M, Rocket Mortgage), Club.com ($10M), Gold.com ($8.6M, AMark), Home.com ($15M, Fairway), and Universal.com (NBCUniversal). We have overseen more than $650M in premium domain transactions and thousands of exact-match acquisitions for companies across every major industry.

As the founder of CreditCards.com and InsuranceQuotes.com, both successful exits and category leaders, I have been on both sides of these deals and understand what it means to own the right domain at the right moment.

Stay Connected

We work with many of the world’s leading companies, VC firms, and founders on both the buy and sell side of premium domains. If you would like to ensure you receive our monthly domain updates and do not miss opportunities that may be relevant to your portfolio, please opt in below. It is the start of the 2nd Quarter, and if the momentum we saw in Q1 carries into Q2, which seems like is going to be the case, it will be another strong period for domain name transactions. As mentioned last month, Q1 was epic as measured by my almost 30 years of track record, with important deals for domain assets such as Strike.com, Green.com, Partner.com, Simulation.com and Ladder.com. April also means the start of spring here in New England, very welcomed after a tough winter. It also has its tougher memories, as April is the month I lost both of my brothers to cancer several years apart. It is of course, the true start of the golf season here in Boston, as well as the Masters, which was as exciting we expect, with an amazing win by Rory.

It was also a month for accolades. Escrow .com announced their annual Masters of Domains award, given to the person that has sold the most dollar volume of domain names using Escrow. The 2026 recipient was yours truly, https://domaininvesting.com/andrew-miller-is-escrow-com-master-of-domains-for-2026/.

Thanks for reading! I will announce those as soon as I am able to.

I am also excited to be able to confirm that we at ATM Holdings and Hilco Digital, oversaw the sale of the Club*com domain name last year (2025) and we can now confirm that the sale price for this category defining asset and powerhouse brand was $10m, placing it amongst the top 3 domain transactions of both 2025 (ATM’s Icon.com is #2) and of all time. I am so excited to see the business, another brand and business for a very proven team of entrepreneurs, grow and become a market leader. Here is a link to that story, https://www.dnjournal.com/lowdown.htm

I saw a LinkedIn post the other day from one of the brightest and most successful tech investors I know, Dave Blundin, discussing how "W2 income is going to get pummeled in these next 3 years, but assets, holdings and ownership and things are going to go through the roof". He added, “buy stuff, ownership is the best way to participate in the AI revolution." There is no stronger performing asset than the category defining or exact match brand .com domain name. As an investment its ROI outperforms almost any other asset class, and as an address and brand for your company, the exponential returns are counted in the 8-10 figures. They are also a great conversation starter at a party.

DOMAINS

W proudly work with many of the world’s leading companies, VC firms, and founders, on the buy and sell side of domains, and own or represent the most valuable portfolio of domain names on the Internet, which evolves often. It has been an incredibly strong start to 2026 for the most valuable exact match brand and category defining domain names that we represent or own. In February/early March, we have overseen win-win transactions for Strike.com, Green.com, Ladder.com, Thursday.com, Reverse.com and Partner.com. Speaking of March, it has been a great month, it is my Dad’s 90th birthday, my daughter’s 21st, and my (number not worth saying). And to go with all that, we are overseeing the phenomenal brand domain name, March.com. I am excited to see the Strike, Green, and Ladder businesses emerge, all 3 from very proven teams, and for the Partner and Thursday strategic moves to the exact match domains for the respective businesses. By the end of March, we will have a handful of major deals that we will be able to mention in April.

The above is a strong reminder to investors, founders, management that once your exact match domain is acquired by another entity, the odds are overwhelming that it is too late and the ramifications of that can be extremely costly across all facets of your business. It is the address to your brand, it is your email, it is often your product name. Modifications will ultimately become massive strategic missteps. One of the above deals took a few years to materialize. Despite that, a large, fast growing brand missed this opportunity, significant error, and one that I expect will have future adverse impacts. They could afford the asset, and I repeatedly worked to help them understand it was both the most valuable investment they could make, even standalone, and if they didn’t it could become the most important one they did not make. Lets have these conversations while we can. We can share real world case study after case study from fellow CEO/Founders.

All of our domains can be seen at www.ATMHoldings.com

W proudly work with many of the world’s leading companies, VC firms, and founders, on the buy and sell side of domains, and own or represent the most valuable portfolio of domain names on the Internet, which evolves often. It was an epic Super Sunday for the most valuable exact match and category-defining domain names, as we saw the Friday announcement of the $70M cash acquisition of AIcom with an in-game ad for it, as well as Claudecom, and the powerful “don’t lose your domain name” ad with Emma Stone.

We want to ensure that all leading VC and PE firms, founders, CEOs, and domain investors are aware of our most important and valuable domain names each month. These domain assets are amongst the most valuable, appreciating balance sheet assets that stand alone, and to a business properly leveraging them across all facets, they provide game changing value. You can see examples such as Booking.com, Hotels.com, Cars.com. They establish trust, authority, credibility, recall (hear it once, remember it forever), email security, proven exponential returns on OOH advertising, paid and organic search, and paid social, and enhance funding and exit enterprise value. It is also a powerful brand for a new fund.

Bigger Picture: As noted, we work with many of the leading VCs on the buy and sell side of domains, and own or represent the most valuable portfolio of domain names on the Internet, which evolves often.
