I’m writing this all super raw and just going to type and send.

I’ll break this update into two parts:

1. Update on the projects first so that I don’t waste your time if you don’t want to read what’s been going on

2. What’s been going on and why the updates are where they’re at.

3. The Next Steps

THE UPDATE…

So. Let’s get to it. And this update will encompass Bullet Assassin, My Sexy Witch, and Finding Clues with Blue.

Bullet Assassin: Digitals have been sent out. Needs to go to print and fulfill.

My Sexy Witch Academia: Art is 80% completed. All line art pages have been turned in.

Finding Clues with Detective Blue: Art is 90% completed. Artist is working on final pages.

So that’s the update. The books are all in some sort of process and moving forward.

Sexy Witch art is all on me currently finding the time to finish it. Same with the majority of Finding Clues with Blue.

So why are all the projects stalled or going at a snail’s pace?

Well. Because I did the thing that I told myself I’d never do, but did in a moment of weakness.

What’s Been Going On…

I pulled the Kickstarter funds out of my business bank account to help me with life hits in order to keep my family afloat. That’s the truth. I’ve spent YEARS doing Kickstarter avoiding this and have done a real good job of it. But unfortunately, this time around, I got kicked in the teeth enough that I felt I had no choice.

At this point you can have all the anger at me and it’s deserved. I’m embarrassed. I’m angry. I’m humiliated. Everything I built over 8 years just crumbled down.

You see, in February I lost my job unexpectedly after a year of just hell, got hit with some massive bills, in March my wife and I had a child, and with that came other bills as he needed tests on his throat for breathing problems to see if surgery was necessary. All during that, I still was trying to keep my head up. I struggled to find a new job so I started a business with a friend. It was paying the bills until we lost our biggest client unexpectedly, and that threw us in a rut of nothing. On top of that, my old employers were getting sued and some of that was getting thrown our way which added to the stress.

I wasn’t sleeping. I was stressed out of my mind, and one thing after another just came up. Car problems. The heater went down. Water leak on the second floor causing water damage. My left eye had to get surgery again or I’d lose sight in it.

I was (and have been) working 70+ hour weeks trying to make this business happen while I try to potentially find a job. Nothing was biting. In May, everything hit the fan again in our business.

So. To keep my family from sinking (because we were drowning), I made the decision to keep us afloat by using the Kickstarter funds.

And I hated myself for doing it. I spent 8 years building up a reputation, getting my books out on time (for the most part), and being consistent in what I was doing. I never thought I’d be put in a position to do so.

It’s currently August 24th. By now I had planned to release Bullet Assassin 4 to end the series, another Finding Clues book, and another Sexy Witch book.

None of that happened.

I haven’t drawn once since April.

I’ve been so depressed, and the only thing that’s been getting me out of bed is the fact that if I don’t get this business sorted out, my family won’t have food to eat.

Currently as of last week, I secured two more clients so now for the first time since March, my business is in the green and my friend and I can both get paid equally. I had to go on a walk when the second client hired us on Friday because I was crying feeling like all of our hard work was paying off.

By the end of September or beginning of October we should be a lot better as well since we have so many dominoes that just need to fall.

I guess I’m telling you this because I didn’t spend the last 4 months doing nothing. I was working 70+ hour weeks to keep my family afloat, and to hopefully turn this business into something.

The Next Steps…

So where does that leave these projects? Because let’s be honest…there’s no more money.

Here are the options that I’m currently spinning out. Option 1 is happening regardless.

1. Get my business into the green to the point where I can set aside money each month to put back into the Kickstarter account so that I can eventually print and ship out all of these books. All books could be shipped out potentially January next year. The digitals for Sexy Witch and Finding Clues would be released once those books get finished.

2. Launch SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS Vol. 1 Graphic Novel (the series is already completed), and be transparent that all extra funds from that book will go towards the fulfilling of Bullet 3, Sexy Witch 4, and Finding Clues 1. If that doesn’t cover it, I have 2 more books that are 100% complete, and do that as well.

   1. This is risky because it’s a “pay Peter to pay Paul” situation, but the book is complete so it would just be running the campaign, getting the funds, printing the book, fulfilling, and all extra funds go to the other campaigns.

   2. Because I’ve been with Kickstarter for awhile, I “legally” can have like 6 projects going at once under their ToS.

Right now I’m currently going with Option 1. As my business grows, my wife and I are just taking what we need to pay the bills and feed our children, and then putting the rest into the Kickstarter account. It’s a slow process but that’s our burden.

I’ll be honest guys. If you’ve known me or seen me over the years as the Silly Goose…

The silly goose has not been silly for several months. I’ve spiraled into massive depression and have hit some dark places.

I’m trying to climb out of it and have been making steps this month to.

So.

I appreciate the patience. I’m sorry for this update. It’s awful.

Like I said, I’m incredibly embarrassed to be making it.

But this is the truth. These are the facts.

So. Feel free to take your anger out on me.

Please know I plan on delivering these books. I cleaned my office the other day so I could re-setup my drawing tablet to get back to work on things. I’m trying to rebuild.

I Want To Challenge You To Start Doing The Thing You Know You Need To Do To Change Your Life TODAY

Lately this has been where I live 10-15 hours a day, in the offices of my marketing agency that I run with my friend.

In February when we lost our jobs, we had some choices to make.

Either try to do business together, or find new jobs. We had about $1500 in monthly clients coming in at that point (not enough for either of us), and so we started looking for clients. Luckily we had enough “banked” for a month before we were in serious trouble.

I started putting meeting up with businesses, pitching our services, and doing free work to build relationships in the space. I was talking to literally anyone I could. I was putting myself into so many uncomfortable situations working night and day to make it possible for us to not get jobs.

It felt like hell.

Two weeks later something crazy happened.

We landed a $10k a month client.

What the crap. This was huge. But it still wasn’t “enough” for us to be where we needed to be to support our families after expenses, but now we were in too deep to get jobs. So we kept hustling.

And then we got 2 new clients 3 days later.

Where the hell did they come from?

And just this week I signed on a client that I had met 2 years in Chicago at a random convention, and this week I have a meeting to sign someone else that I met last year.

The ball is rolling and I’m confident that in the next 2-3 months we’ll hit the milestone goal that we want to hit.

But how was this all possible?

Well. We willed it into the universe and opened the doors for good things to happen.

But the thing is this, YOU need to take the first step.

And the first step is the worst. It’s the most uncomfortable, it’s the most jarring, and it’s painful.

The first step will possibly feel like an f-you to your friends and family who are in a spot in life you’re trying to escape. And by taking that first step, you might be ridiculed by them purely because they WISH if they made the first steps, they could change their life, but they’re too afraid and lazy too.

So take that first step.

Take that risk.

You won’t regret it.

Because along the journey what you’re going to find is that you’ve picked up several new skills, built new relationships, and you never know when all of that is going to come full circle.

Case in point.

My life is the way that it is currently because of I started making comics, and I wanted to know how to get readers. I started learning about marketing, fell in love with it, tricked a few business owners to give me marketing jobs where I could learn more on their dime and time, and now I’m running my own company.

All because I took the leap to make comics.

And my parents TO THIS DAY still go “you still making those picture books?”

Here’s a challenge for you.

This week, I want you to take the FIRST STEPS into doing something that you know will change your life. Maybe it’s talking to a certain person. Maybe it’s creating a list or game plan on what you want to achieve. Maybe it’s creating that Youtube channel and getting going.

For me, I know that I need to start creating more content for COMICS and for myself. So this week my goal is to make sometime to record some videos for a new channel I’m working on (not comics related).

I don’t know.

If you’re still reading this, I’m hoping that I’m a positive part of your day. I hope reading this pushes you towards a life that I know you deserve. You just gotta take the steps to take it.

By the way I’m writing this on like 3 hours asleep.

This third baby is something else y’all.

Anywhoo. Let’s get into it.

So while rocking my baby to sleep today (and attempting to play Cyberpunk for the first time), I was asking myself this question:

“I use to draw 300+ pages a YEAR, publish 1-2 videos a week online, and post 12-page chapters bi-weekly on Patreon. How did I do this?”

For me, this was the GOLDEN years of Draw and Talk.

And don’t get me wrong, what I have currently is great. I have more being made then I would if I continued with this “golden” year system. But here’s the thing…there’s something that I felt has been missing, and I keep going back to this “golden” time.

I was growing my Youtube audience, making the best videos I had ever done, and was really focused on the entire ECOSYSTEM that I was creating. Everything was planned and aligned. There was no guessing what I was doing on a weekly/monthly basis.

I had a system, and I executed on it.

It all came from TWO things.

The DRAWING BALANCE SYSTEM and the WALT DISNEY ECO-SYSTEM.

I hope these next sections help you create systems that push you forward in achieving your goals.

Let’s talk about the DRAWING BALANCE SYSTEM.

When I started creating THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS, I wanted to put out ONE chapter every two weeks to my patreon. I wanted each chapter to be a consistent length of pages. But which made sense?

4? 10? 20? 30?

I had no idea what I could do on a consistent basis. So I did an experiment.

For 12 days straight I drew as many pages that I could while keeping the quality of the comic that I wanted. The other 2 days would be used to post the comic, and to sketch out the next chapter. By the end of the 12 days, I had drawn 15 pages in total, but I could feel myself pretty weak and tired from it.

I came to the conclusion that 12-pages was my happy place. And that’s what I did.

Consistently for a year I put out a NEW chapter for THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS every two weeks, which is how I was able to do TWO volumes of that series in a year.

This system did TWO things:

1. It kept me consistent and on a schedule. There was no guessing of what to do. It was making the time TO do it.

2. It gave me the feeling of a WIN every two weeks. This is important.

Having a win EVERY TWO weeks felt great. It allowed me to tell myself that I finished an entire chapter of a book, and it allowed me to post that chapter online, get that social feedback, and want to continue to make more.

The consistency and positive feedback helped me keep going.

The next system was the Walt Disney Eco-System

If you’re a creator, please understand this diagram and maybe make one for yourself.

In a nutshell, in the middle of the ecosystem is the MAIN THING that Walt Disney wanted to focus on, and every other aspect that was in the ecosystem was built/created in order to bring attention to the MAIN thing. For him, it was THEATRICAL FILMS.

Everything he built was to support the growth and stories of the Theatrical Films.

For me, the main thing was the COMICS. The things that I built around the comics were the following:

• Youtube + Social Media Channels: to grow the audience to build awareness for the comics

• Newsletter: to nurture the audience I had built to have them buy more comics

• Website: a place for people to buy and read the comics

• Patreon: a place to give people exclusive access to early released comics

Everything was made for the PURPOSE of getting the eyeballs on the comics.

Not views. Not clout.

To get people reading my stories.

And I had a system for this eco-system.

Every 2 weeks the following would happen:

• 2 Youtube Videos

• 4 Patreon Posts

  • an exclusive podcast

  • early access chapters to The Girl with the Mega Fists

• 2 Newsletters

• 12-pages of The Girl with the Mega Fists posted.

There was never any guessing. There was just doing.

And I was doing. I was producing. I was in a good habit.

But then I got derailed. I got pulled into drama. I started shooting for views. Instead of steady EARNED growth, I was trying to get QUICK HACKS that would get me fake growth.

This led to TWO THINGS, one positive and one negative.

The Positive: I was able to leverage these hacks/moments of clout to fund my comics had bigger numbers than I was used to, and with that capital launch multiple series that all did well. This is how Super Plumber Sisters, My Sexy Witch Academia, and Bullet Assassin Living in a Fantasy World came to be. ‘

The Negative: I lost my consistency, I lost my system, and I lost my growth and the new audience I was building on my channel. My Patreon went from doing $500 a month to $20. My views went from a few thousand to barely a hundred. My books were now late, and I was always playing catch up.

Here’s the thing.

I don’t regret any of it. All of it was a learning lesson and things that needed to happen to push me into the life that I currently have.

I’m now running my own business, working with multiple clients that are paying us anywhere from $2k - $10k a month. I get to go into work when I want, leave when I want, and be my own boss.

This also gives me a unique opportunity to build out a workflow where I can start making comics throughout my day.

This week alone I was able to do the following:

• Leave work early so that I could package SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS Kickstarter rewards

• On my lunch break send Tommy an 8-page script that needed to get made

• Stay a few extra hours early to get 10-pages penciled for THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS Vol. 5

• Finish lettering BULLET ASSASSIN #3 and getting those digitals sent out to backers.

• Launch FINDING CLUES WITH DETECTIVE BLUE #1 on Kickstarter

My plans for this week:

• Greytone all of MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA #4 so I can get that to backers in the next 1-2 weeks

• Script out another chapter of THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS Vol. 5 and get it penciled

• Get SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS #4 packages sent out

Now…

I’ve got some thing cooking in the kitchen of my brain that I’ll save for another newsletter (maybe)…

But I’m thinking of re-creating these two systems that we discussed and to begin posting chapters of my books online for free before launching them on Kickstarter or even my Website.

I also want to do more with Amazon going forward as I get my books as trades by the end of the year.

Because at the end of the day the reason why those two systems were working and keeping me focused on the production of books and growth is because I was not money focused. The moment that I started thinking about the money, I started making decisions that included views, clout, and money.

And I understand why. For 6 months I was unemployed and living off of comic money. I NEED to focus on the money.

But now that I’m running my own business and financially I’m doing stable (currently), I can just focus on the BOOKS and the READERS, and ultimately that’s what I should have been doing all along.

Next week the goal is to have My Sexy Witch Academia #4 done with art 100%, the next week have lettering and editing finished, and then off to backers and the printer the following week.

Tommy is already working on Bullet Assassin Living in a Fantasy World #4. By the time we’re done with this current campaign, Alejandro will most likely start drawing chapter 2 of Finding Clues with Detective Blue. I’ve also started sketching out pages for The Girl with the Mega Fists Vol. 5.

Things are finally moving in the right direction.

It was tough for the last 6 months, and just when I finally had things sorted…BOOM!

Lost my job.

Started a business.

Got my life back in order and then BOOM!

Had a baby!

You think you’re sleeping? Think again. You’re going to be on the verge of death every day with 2-3 hours of sleep tops each night.

But don’t worry, nothing bad is gonna…BOOM!

Crisis after Crisis at your work.

But that’s life. And ultimately what I hope to showcase in all of this is the following:

Life is tough for everyone. Life is tougher for some people than others, but still, life will always be tough.

But if there is something that you want do, and you want to do it, then do it.

Find the time to do it.

Not even find the time…

MAKE the time.

You have one life. Make the most of it. You’re in control of yourself and your output.

So this breakthrough actually took place while I was drawing this week.

You see…there’s question I asked myself almost 9 years ago that has changed the entire trajectory of my life. But…we’ll get to what that question was later down in the post. Let’s get back to what happened this week.

You see, while I was working on the greytones of this latest Kickstarter we’re launching, and I started asking myself these questions:

• Should I continue with Draw and Talk and start bringing back creator interviews?

• Should I try and join back the network groups of creators who have at multiple times thrown me under the bus?

• How do I continue to make comics without the blessings of my peers?

• What should I do in order to re-create the bliss of 2020s when I had all these friends in comics that I was collaborating with and having a silly goose time with?

And then it hit me…

Why the fuck am I thinking about others right now and not thinking about myself and what I want?

I have a lot of great friends in comics. I probably a good 5-6 creators I still talk with every now and then, and then 20+ individuals I interact with on and off.

But I keep wanting to go back to the “good ol days” when I was doing Draw and Talk Live shows, bringing on multiple creators, having a blast, creating content, and just constantly shooting the shit. It was such a simpler time it felt like and I keep asking myself “what do I need to do to get myself back to that point in time?”

But here’s the thing…

That point in time is gone. I’m not the same person I was back then. YOU that are reading this right now…YOU aren’t the same person you were last year or 5 years ago.

Living in the past feels romantic. It really does.

But there’s no turning back the time, we have to move forward with who we are now, and who we want to become going forward.

So. I’ve decided to stop asking for permission to move forward with my life.

I’m just going to move forward.

The only question I ask is this…

Will you move forward with me?

Now that I’m fully self employed, I have the greatest opportunity to really carve out the lifestyle that I want.

I want comics to be a part of it.

I want YOU to be a part of it.

But I also know that I am someone who can’t let go of the past sometimes, and part of moving forward is moving on from what I’ve built and starting all over.

So I’m starting a whole new Youtube channel.

I’ll tell you about it after I’ve uploaded a few videos on it. I’ve started filming myself actually making the art for my comics. From sketches, coloring, to grayscaling, all of it.

But this isn’t a channel where I talk about comics drama, or internet beefs, or even reviewing books. No. This is where we talk about leveling ourselves up, what we’re doing to better our lives, and create the future that we want.

Because ultimately that’s what I want for myself, and it’s also what I want for the people I hold dear. I want us all to level up and create a life that we enjoy.

Over the last 8 months, I’ve had my life turned upside down, at the worst possible time as well. MY WIFE IS GIVING BIRTH THIS WEEK. You know how stressed out I am?

But let me tell you what the stresses of these last several months has done:

It’s pushed me to start a business with my friend and we’ve already started making full-time income from it. It’s led me into the doors and relations of CEO’s of wealthy companies asking me how I can help their companies grow. It’s led me to speaking in front of people about marketing and learning new skills.

And you know what the crazy thing about all of this is…

NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE HAD I NOT ASKED THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:

“How can I sell more of my comic books?”

Seriously! That questioned and the quest I took to learn how to answer this question changed the trajectory of my life.

I’m not the great comic book creator. I don’t sell the most books. In fact I sell enough books that I have enough money to make the next book comfortably.

But you know what making comics has given me?

• the ability to speak in front of people

• the ability to market and sell

• the ability to take on confrontation

• the ability to stand for who I am and what I do, despite backlash from people who honestly don’t matter in the grand scheme of things

So what’s the point of all this?

The point is this.

Keep leveling up.

Don’t let others hold you back.

Be curious and vigilant on finding the answers to your questions.

Use stress and hardship as the fuel to get what you want in this life. Fight through it.

Ask yourself this question:

If my story was being documented or made into a movie, and viewers were watching me at my lowest point…

What would they want to see from me? What kind of person would they want me to become?

I bet you they’d want to see a fighter.

So go.

Fight.

Finding Clues With Detective Blue #1

This is our next Kickstarter! Finding Clues with Detective Blue is a limited 4-part series. I’ve had the title and concept of this story for two years, and only now was able to crack a story that I wanted to tell.

Detective Steve is about to retire. The catch? He has to solve one last murder case before he can put in his papers. Unfortunately for him, he’s being partnered with the energetic rookie, Detective Blue. Together they’ll need to solve the murder of Magenta, escape assassination attempts from Salt and Pepper, and figure out why every cop they turn to for help betrays them.

Tommy and I have officially completed Chapter 3 of Bullet Assassin Living in a Fantasy World. It is currently with our editor Patrick, and then after that digitals will be sent out to everyone!

Tommy has turned in all the pages for this book and now it’s in my hands to greytone and letter it. This will probably take me 3-4 weeks to complete (I’m so sorry).

Samurai Penguin Blade

Donal and I completed this book I believe a year and it’s just sitting on my drive. What I’m thinking that I want to do is make an additional short 12-16 page short comic that can be included as an ADD-ON to this book. It’s a one-shot story that ends in the same fashion that ALL my one-shot stories end. This book will DEFINITELY be getting a release sometime this year.

Since I am officially self employed for however long this lasts, I’m trying to really create as many revenue streams I can for me and my family. The marketing side of things is coming along well, but still needs building.

The comic side of things has been lacking but I need to get back into building again. Hopefully I’ll start doing more Youtube videos here in the coming days, while also putting out more books. I have some fun one-shot ideas for Tommy and I, so we’ll see how we do!

Anyways. Let’s get into it. If you want to skip my life update and want to know about the comic campaigns, scroll to the bottom where I update y’all on all the projects!

Okay. LIFE UPDATE:

For the last two years of my life, I’ve been running a marketing company, for a couple, that was created to support multiple businesses that they had created, but also to service other clients that we brought in. I received a large investment from them to start this marketing company, and for the last two years have been trying to grow it, maintain it, but also do all the side quests that were thrown at me by my employers.

Because of this, it was a miracle that any comics were made in these two years. It’s been increasingly difficult to find time to do so, and I constantly wondered if I should quit. The reason why I thought this was that I was given parameters that would give me ownership of the company, and if I hit those markers, I would have a percentage of the company. No paper work was ever signed and this was never made official.

I worked 50-60 hour weeks, was available basically 24/7 for these people, and could be summoned to jump on a plane at any given moment to do a side quest (sometimes given 48 hours in advance).

Well. All of that began crumbling in October 2025. Many of their companies were being shut down, but also massive revenue streams were shut off that were in part helping fund the company I was running. The couple started a divorce process, and then were thrown into massive legal troubles that I unfortunately got thrown into (briefly).

By December, I had laid off everyone on my team save myself and my friend Clint. We were still servicing their main company, however were told to fire all clients that were not in connection with them. They sold their offices at the end of the year, and the Utah team was disbanded.

In January, Clint and I got our own office and still were doing work for their main company, despite going through massive disarray, legal problems, and tons of confusion. On the side, we picked up some tiny clients that we could help to get some extra cash to prepare for a possible job loss. We created a small side marketing agency, but honestly the money coming in was basically just paying our internet and office space rent. I started interviewing at multiple businesses, and was being rejected constantly.

Towards the end of January we basically had no communication from the main company or our employers, and planned for the worst.

One of the interviews basically ended with “I don’t know if you’d be a good culture fit because you don’t look like you exercise.” Super illegal to say, and super fucked up.

So. I did what I naturally do when I have a new enemy.

Build in spite of them.

In February, right before I left for a business trip to Chicago, I checked the bank account and saw that there was basically not enough money to pay Clint and I. I sent a message to the accountant and sent them our work invoices. 10 minutes later I was told they weren’t going to be paid. At 5am the next morning I jumped on a plane for a business event for this company knowing that this was basically my final week of working for them.

So I began networking hardcore while I was there, talking to everyone I could, and letting them know that I was going to be available to work with in the future.

For the last 2-3 weeks we’ve been grinding hardcore.

As of today I was laid off from the main company and a 2 year chapter closed of safe employment and a constant paycheck.

But a new chapter has opened.

Clint and I are now officially running our own marketing agency.

We landed our first 5-figure client which means that payday isn’t as scary as we thought it was going to be, however we need to bring in a few more clients to get back to where we were financially, along with balancing our now newfound expenses. Currently we have 6 clients, and are ever growing which is good.

With that being said, I’m more tired than ever. Everything is on our shoulders, and the only way we continue to succeed is to make sure our clients succeed. That sometimes means early mornings and late nights.

I did however take that dick’s statement to heart, and joined a gym and have already lost 3 pounds.

As for quitting comics? As you can see down below, I don’t plan on quitting comics anytime soon, however the time that I can currently spend on them is limited which is why I haven’t launched any new campaigns yet this year. I want to make sure that I finish the fulfillment on the ones that I have currently, before ramping up new Kickstarter backer debt.

But life is getting busy and it’s getting challenging. My safety net of steady pay from a company is gone, and my pay is now exclusively in my hands which is both empowering and stressful.

On top of that, we’re planning on launching 3 content brands to enable us to bring in new clients at a more rapid pace in the coming months. A marketing agency brand, and then 2 personal brands.

ALSO.

Here’s some big news.

My wife has been pregnant for the last 8 months and in 3 weeks will have our third and final child. It’s been a rough pregnancy and with losing my job 3-4 weeks before the baby due has been weighing heavily on me.

So every move I make (and every move I’ve been making for the last 8 years) has been to put my family first. Right now this marketing agency needs my full attention as it’s the main thing paying our bills. Comics is our secondary stream and always has been.

So. What does the future look like?

Who knows. But honestly, I’m both nervous and excited for it.

Thank you for your patience with me these last two years. They’ve been crazy. One day I’ll tell all the crazy stories I’ve accumulated. But until then, here’s the life update.

Expect me to post more on socials going forward, and to start doing more updates on comics as I start fulfilling and finishing them.

Physical fulfillment has begun. Give me 2 weeks to get this all shipped out to y’all :)

Currently being lettered, and then will be sent to the editor. Digital fulfillment should be in 1-2 weeks, and physical fulfillment 3-4 weeks after that.

MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA #4 Campaign:

Currently greytoning the first 20-pages while Tommy finishes the last 20 pages. The delay on this project is 100% my fault as I didn’t give Tommy the changed scripts and sketches in a timely manner.

FINDING CLUES WITH DETECTIVE BLUE Vol. 1

Super early into the book. Currently sketching and scripting the first 20 pages before sending them to the artist. Cover is currently being colored. Since this is a one-and-done graphic novel, I most likely won’t be doing a campaign on the book until it’s 90-100% completed.

TOMMY SHELL Graphic Novel

This is also a one-and-done graphic novel that I’m writing and drawing 100% of the pages. I’m excited to work on this project, however you won’t see a campaign for it until it’s 100% completed.

THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS Vol. 5

This one currently breaks my heart. Right now this project is on a slight pause PURELY because I have this need to tell the TOMMY SHELL story first, before re-entering into this world. So. The book isn’t forgotten, but it does require a level of a stability to create, that I currently don’t have.

SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS #1-4 [Fulfillment In Progress]

I don’t know what the f*** happened but I never sent the surveys out for this campaign when it was finished (a pattern you’re going to see down the line). I just sent out surveys today and sent out the digital rewards to backers. I’ll send this to the printer tomorrow and then after that fingers crossed for fulfillment at the end of January/beginning of February.

BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD #3 [ART IN PROGRESS]

The line art for the book is 100% completed and I’m currently greytoning the book. As it stands, it looks like I’m still going to be able to hit the February deadline for the digital rewards, and hopefully just be 1-2 weeks late on the physical fulfillment. I need to send the surveys out after I get done writing this Substack.

MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA #1-4 [ART IN PROGRESS]

The line art for the book is 50% completed, and the next 50% is being worked on. Unfortunately I don’t know if I’m going to be able to get this book finished by the March deadline, but we’ll see. Fingers Crossed. If anything, I’ll have it out the next month in April, but who knows…I’ve found that typically I’m able to get the digitals out on the deadline 90% of the time. I need to send the surveys out after I get done writing this Substack.

There are some packages that I also need to mail out that are in my car. I’ll be mailing those out on Friday. Seriously. Okay. So. What the fuck has been going on these last 90-120 days?

I can honestly pin point the EXACT DAY everything went to shit…

I was in Miami on a work trip and I didn’t sleep for 2-3 days straight. The night Ichthy5 dropped me off at my hotel with my videographer, I had a massive panic attack and spent the entire night in the lobby of the hotel pacing around while the staff (very kindly) tried calming me down until my videographer found me at 6am in a corner of the building. After 2-3 days of no sleep, I fell asleep in the car to the airport, in the airport, and the entire flight home.

Unfortunately this wasn’t the end of my problems.

A month later I was in Atlanta on another work trip with my videographer. Scared I’d have another panic attack, I booked an Air BnB (not a hotel), and found a place that felt more “homely.” I had everything that I normally would have if I was sleeping at home. So. I thought I was in the clear…until 7am came around and all I had done was pace the place, take 3 showers, and freak out the entire night.

I booked a flight a few hours later and went home, and my wife forced me to a doctor’s appointment and I was prescribed anxiety medication.

Needless to say, my work life had massive amounts of stress, and it took a toll on me.

Because I didn’t want to take any of this stuff, I decided to just de-stress and try to just take a break from everything.

I stopped making Youtube videos (which sucks because I was finally getting into a rhythm), I stopped drawing, I stopped writing, I stopped going on social media as often, and basically paused my entire comics business.

Unfortunately this didn’t solve anything because now my projects were all behind and it didn’t stop any of the stuff that’s been going on in my day to day life which involved job insecurity, laying off my entire staff before the holidays, clients canceling left and right, more job insecurity during the holidays, and just trying to survive in this economy. Needless to say, the last 120 days have been hell and unfortunately the last 3 weeks I’ve only been able to sleep by either a sleeping pill or popping a tiny Xanax.

AND YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE SUCKS!?

Realizing you didn’t send F**KING surveys out to Kickstarter backers! Like what the heck!

So. Where does that leave us in 2026?

Well. I’m not doing another freaking Kickstarter campaign until THOSE books up there are finished, so who knows. The goal for next year is to complete BULLET ASSASSIN #4 which will end the series, and then strictly work on MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA and get that series putting out 2-3 books a year.

I have some crime noir graphic novels that I’m writing and wanting to draw, and I also want to get back to drawing THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS. In fact, a goal I have for JANUARY is to have the ENTIRE Volume 5 of Mega Fists sketched out and written, so that I can just go into drawing (because once I sketch a page, I just free draw the book and I can get 8-10 pages drawn in a week if I do this).

I have no idea where 2026 is going to end for me honestly when it comes to comics. I know for my 9 to 5 life, I’m trying to rebuild a lot of things that got destroyed last year. Lots of lessons were learned in hard ways, but I think the future is bright.

I’m currently renting a private office with my friend for us to work in. I’ve got a drawing tablet in there so that I can get stuff done on my lunch breaks.

I’m trying to get my “groove” back so thank you for your patience. Hopefully in 2026 you’ll see more of me in terms of Youtube, Twitter, and Substack.

Okay! Let’s start with the fun stuff!

MAKING A TRADING CARD GAME…

Did you know that I like trading card games?

Probably not because I stay clear from them. Why? Every time I get involved in one I get extremely addicted to them. Like. I’m prepared to drop thousands of dollars to make a successful deck of whatever I’m playing.

I literally think every trading card game is awesome. I sometimes will just buy booster packs of random games just so I can check out the cards.

This was a problem when I was a child, so much so that my mom gave away hundreds of Pokemon cards to the neighbors kid, and even set fire to my YuGiOh cards.

So. What did I do?

Well. I realized that I could trace the outline of a playing card on normal printer paper, and that I could fit 9 cards per sheet. My grandpa bought me a laminator for my Birthday, and I began making my own trading card games.

Now in my adult age, I’ve made sure to stay clear of trading card games (although sometimes I try to jump into YuGiOh Master Duel, and if it wasn’t so damn hard I’d be playing it all day).

Last week my child and I were drawing and I found a lone Pokemon card on the table, and figured, “let me sketch a card and see what happens..”

Well what happened was me designing a trading card game and realizing that with my adult money and professional drawing equipment, I could actually get these cards made and then professionally printed for me and my kid to play.

So. That’s what I’ve done.

It’s a food based game with mechanics similar to YuGiOh, Pokemon, and Duel Masters. It’s super simple. It’s mostly for fun but also something that me and my kid can play and maybe he can learn some math and tactics lol

Currently I’m working on the Hot Dog Army/Pizza Zombies deck which is like 50+ cards. After this deck is finished, I’ll work on the Burger Boyz/Drive Thru Deck. Honestly it sounds so silly but it’s been fun, and a big reason why is this:

There’s no plans to monetize this (currently).

Typically if I start any project, I’m thinking “how can I monetize this?” But this is a project literally for me and my kid. The goal is fun. That’s it. I’m not going crazy in game mechanics, balance, or anything. I’m just having a silly goose time.

And to make sure that I continue to have fun, I’ve given myself rules when it comes to making the game:

• Rule 1: there’s no deadline for when this game needs to be finished

• Rule 2: I only work on it when I want to. There is never a feeling of “I have to.”

• Rule 3: I can only spend 10 minutes on the artwork of each card.

Rules 1 and 2 are pretty self explanatory, but Rule 3 is honestly the most important. By making sure that I have a timer on, it makes me look at the art as something fun and manageable. I’m not trying to create a masterpiece of art per card. Why?

This is for me and my kids. It’s suppose to be silly and fun. This means I can doodle something super fun and wonky (quickly), and then spend the time to make it come to life.

So. That’s it. That’s the non-comic project I’m currently working on lol

Alright. You’ve read the fun stuff, now let’s get to the nonsense :P

THE MASSIVE EGOS OF SOME CREATORS…

I have a rule. If you’re going to post an opinion on the internet, you better be able to handle pushback on that opinion.

Signs that someone can’t handle others disagreeing with them:

• They mute those that disagree with them and talk about them still while hiding

• They block those that disagree with them and still talk about them under the safety of the block

It’s truly bitch made behavior and it’s something that I don’t respect in the slightest.

So what happened?

I made a video about a creator who goes by Godfoe, and his opinion. Basically in a nutshell: I disagreed with his opinion, presented my views, and that was that.

Well. Godfoe did not like that.

On Twitter he made a post behind a mute saying that he didn’t watch the video and didn’t care about me or anything.

He then create multiple 10+ twitter threads about how much he thought I sucked.

That’s fine. Remember my rule?

If you’re going to put an opinion publicly, you have to be able to handle the backlash.

I didn’t care that Godfoe didn’t like my opinion on his opinion.

What I didn’t appreciate was the following tweet he made:

A lot of ridiculous claims in this post. My response?

Listen. I make what I want to make. I’ve said this before online but I’ll say it again here. I have a THREE STEP PROCESS when it comes to making the books that I do:

• Step 1: Find a fun concept that is interesting, fun, or gets me excited

• Step 2: Find a story within this concept that I want to tell (if I can’t find a story, then I scrap the ideas from Step 1)

• Step 3: If Steps 1 and 2 have been achieved, we make the story.

I’m fine with people making opinions on my opinions, but outright stretching and lies is another. And I get why someone like him tries to make such crazy claims.

Ego. Creators like this have such massive egos and perceptions of themselves that they have to make such far reaching claims in order to make themselves feel good on why they’re not either getting the success or attention that they want.

At the end of the day, one thing I have to remind myself is this:

I’m making comics for myself, and I’m lucky that I’ve been able to find an audience for those books. Seriously. I am so grateful that YOU read my books. Without YOU I wouldn’t able to continue doing what I am doing at the scale that I am.

Don’t get me wrong. If I was making zero dollars I’d still make comics, just not as many. And man…do we make comics lol

Honestly I wish I had a hater out there who made as many comics as I do lol Some of these cats make more Substack and Twitter posts about me than they put out comics a year lol

Okay let’s get into it!

The Death of Reliability…

It’s no secret that I use the same rotation of artists on most of my projects. WHY? Because they’re reliable.

I’ve worked with Tommy on MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA, BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD, and MY CUTE CO-WORKER WANTS TO KILL ME AND THEN MARRY ME. We have plans for more books together.

Same with my relationship with Erwin who drew the entire series of SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS and an unreleased graphic novel of CHEFs. Trevis Martinez did over 300+ pages for our series DEMONS.

These are creators that I can count on.

However, sometimes you have artists who want to work with you, and similarly you want to work with them.

Well. I decided to give 2 creators chances for this upcoming campaign of MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA. Literally over the weekend, as I was building the campaign, I was trying to get a hold of them to see the progression on the art that I paid for.

One of them ghosted me.

The other said they weren’t going to make the deadline even though I had given them 45 days in advance.

WTF!?

This put me in such a bind that I started losing my mind over the weekend! What the heck was I going to do? Was I going to have to put the launch on hold? That sucks because I wanted to do this launch in October!

Luckily some amazing artists came in clutch to help me out.

Shoutout to (in order of illustrations) @mesiasart who colored this cover (I added the backgrounds) and @SaiHchiwadak who within 12 hours of being hired for this cover created this beautiful piece of art!

Luckily the artist that ghosted me did get back to me, but they too are still late with their illustration.

Seriously. Is this a good impression? Am I going to want to work with these people in the future?

Heck no!

One of the biggest strengths that a creator can have is being able to be reliable. If this is our first rodeo together and I pay you, I expect the relationship to start off strong.

Tommy and I have worked together for around 3 years at this point. If he’s late with something, it doesn’t matter because he’s earned the points to know that he’s going to come in clutch with the project. We have a good working relationship.

These artists…that relationship is over.

1AM and the Substack Crash…

So last night I made it a point that I was NOT going to go to bed until BLACKJACK DUELIST was fulfilled. So. I stayed up until 1AM to complete it, and then snagged this phone.

THEN I was going to write this Subtack, and as I was about to write THIS SECTION at 1AM, Substack decided to crash which is why you’re getting this newsletter NOW and not in the morning like I normally do.

And for those interested in THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS series, you’ll be happy to know that I’m working on it and it should be out 2026! Hopefully this is the first book we can launch next year.

Alright. Let’s talk the talk!

The Chapter 4 That Survives!

SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS series ended on Chapter 4. BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD is going to end with an oversized Chapter 4. The next chapter 4 that we’re launching is MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA, except this is the series that is going to SURVIVE after Chapter 4!

Yep! This series is planned for 12-chapters and I’m really hoping that we can get to them honestly. With SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS ended and BULLET ASSASSIN ending next year, this will give me time to release more chapters of SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA each year.

Honestly I hope it gets to a point where I can launch 3-4 chapters of this series a year, that way we can secure the story being told EXACTLY how I want it, but also getting to the conclusion sooner.

Chapter 4 of MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA will be the finale of the first arc. I can’t wait to launch this book! Expect a signup in a few weeks!

At What Point Do You Just Give Up...

Don’t worry I’m not talking about comics but that is a topic that will come up at some point in my life I’m sure. Every year I tell myself “no more comics” and yet I launch a new series, or find an artist that I want to work with and soon we’re making more stories.

I love comics.

But the people…

The creators…

At what point do you just give up on being part of the “creator community” and just do what you do in complete solidarity?

Nothing grinds my gears more than when adults are unable to have conversations and debates with one another. Even worse than this, are adults who deliberately talk about others behind others backs without giving the other party a chance to respond.

For the last 10 years of my life, I’ve made it a point that there would be no topic I wouldn’t shy from, no person I wouldn’t engage with, and no person I wouldn’t disagree with. However, I always made it a point to have the spats on the subjects, and then continue to engage and be friends with them afterwards.

Well.

Over the last 2 years, it’s become evident that the creator community rejects this idea, and at this point, I feel utterly alone.

1. I’ve got ex-comic pros putting my comic book launches with commentary on Charlie Kirk’s death:

2. I have creators making 3-part fucking essays about how I ruined their social media experiences and yet they’ve blocked me from (1) reading said essays and (2) don’t allow me to respond. Bitch made.

3. I have creators who I feel I’ve lost as friends because of the political climate and because I don’t fit in with the “club” the strategic move would be to not have me around.

Here’s the thing, at the end of day, this probably all my fault. I don’t have an ego that is big enough to now acknowledge that I’m not the problem. I’m probably the problem.

But man, if wanting to have discourse about hard topics with other creators and conversing with them is so bad…then…Idk….

I’ll be really honest right now.

Brutally honest.

I’m really mad. I’m really frustrated.

I’m probably going to lash out at people and just have a major crash out.

The best thing to do would be to unplug from the internet, but I have got a book to promote, another book to promote, fulfillment to do, and more.

Anyways.

Expect the Silly Goose to go a little crazy in the next few months. If he doesn’t…well…

Kamen America, created by Tim Lim and Mark Pellegrini started off with a massive grassroots campaign that has now led to 10+ volumes of the series, a manga volume, pop up shots INTERNATIONALLY (Japan), several animated shorts, 3 webtoons, statues, action figures, Japanese fan comics, and a massive convention in Texas.

They’ve also started going into the VTubing side of the media train and they’re just killing it! I made this post a few days ago:

Now. Here’s the thing. I know Tim and Mark. In fact I had the privilege to go on a little roadtrip with them this year and honestly it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in awhile.

Many want Kamen America’s success, but don’t understand how they got their or what it takes. Not just that, they think “oh if I just copy what they do I’ll get the same results.” Not true as well. So. This is what my answer was to this tweet:

#1 - have a killer IP that you love and want to work on that also the audience likes. Mark and Tim LOVE Kamen America. They have so many volumes already planned out. They LOVE what they're creating and it shows in the work.

An example of this in the negative is my series CHEFs. The audience loves that IP. I kinda hate it. It showed in the work. I canceled the series (twice after making two graphic novels) because I didn't want to work on it.

#2 - Quality in everything. The books are quality. The story is quality. The art is quality. The customer experience is quality. The interactions are quality. The treatment is quality. Who they work with is quality.

#3 - try new things. They've dwelved into Manga. Comics. Graphic Novels. Youtube. VTube. Animation. Webtoons. Webtoons with VA. So many things. Don't be scared to try and expand your knowledge and do cool things.

FINAL CAVEAT (this is big advice) You (the person reading this) are not Tim and Mark. Your IP is not Kamen America. You can't just do the things they do and expect the same results. You have to forge the path that works for YOU and what YOU are capable of doing.

That's why the 3 points I gave are mostly generic and not specific. You can't copy what they do specifically because you are not them (trust me I've tried). Take what works for them, and tweak it so it works for you.

Here's a final example and story of a convo I had with Tim. Tim tells me their best campaign reward (at the time of this convo) is the Book + Acrylic Standee. So! What do I do for Mega Fists Vol. 1 and 2? I make a reward that is Book + Acrylic Standee. it's my worst campaign reward and no one buys it. Now. Instead of saying "that doesn't work" I just rework the book + acrylic standee relationship. Instead, I just put the Standee in the add-on section, make sure it's the first add-on they see, and now in my next campaigns I'm selling way more standees with the books.

Sometimes things work differently for others.

This advice can help both creators, readers, and really anyone who has any kind of ambition.

Okay. Let’s talk about the goofs.

GOOF #1

So. Goof #1 is about the launch for BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD. The book launched today, however there were SO MANY THINGS that went wrong.

Life has been very hectic. I’m not going to whine or cry because I know a lot of people have it a lot harder than me, but for the last 2 months I’ve been spiraling. Personal shit spiraling into my work shit, and every day I’ve felt like I barely made it to the end, and then I wake up 4-5 hours later and start all over.

So. Things are falling in the cracks, and this book launch was one of them.

I was supposed to launch this book 2 weeks ago. DIDN’T HAPPEN.

I was supposed to have two artists make covers for me. THEY DID NOT MAKE THEM.

I was supposed to have this campaign page made 2 weeks ago. I MADE IT LAST NIGHT AT 2AM.

I was supposed to launch the book at 12pm EST. I KEPT GETTING PULLED INTO EVERY PROBLEM AT WORK AND FORGOT TO LAUNCH AND LAUNCHED LATE AFTERNOON.

I was supposed to do a launch stream with a certain guest. I FORGOT TO ORGANIZE IT, DIDN’T HAVE A PLAN, WENT LIVE ALONE.

Like. Seriously. Everything was a mess for the launch of this campaign.

BUT! Here’s the good news.

The book is 100% completed with it’s line art. So. The blessing is that at least the book has been paid for in advance, the artist has completed their job and is now working on the next project for us, and now all we have to do is hit $5k, which is my breakeven point, and then $7k gives me enough to get the next book started, and we can continue this series and end it at Chapter 5 like planned. Not hitting these benchmarks means I’ll have to end the series at Chapter 4 with a semi-rushed ending.

Let’s not let it happen. Go back the book!

GOOF #2

I botched the printing of BLACKJACK DUELIST which means we are two weeks late of fulfillment and that sucks. Not as bad as other creators who are 3-5 years late on their books, but still, that sucks.

Good news is the books are now printed and they look fantastic!

I can wait for y’all to read this one! It’s so fun!

GOOF #3

I’m lost guys. This is now where I get personal and if you’ve made it this far, congrats. If you do make it this far, leave a comment lol

It’s not that I’m lost, it’s that I’m at crossroads that I knew was coming, and now I have to make a decision, but what sucks about the decision that I have to make is that I can’t even fully commit to the decision because I have so many things in motion currently.

Let me explain.

The crossroads that I’m at currently is going fully into marketing content to grow the business that I am running. I know that if I were to create a shit ton of content and commit to it, my business would grow a lot faster. But that means creating a space where I can make all of this content.

If you’ve seen my videos, I’ve created my office so that it’s very nerd themed.

Well the thing about nerd themed rooms, are they don’t attract the marketing clients that pay $5k a month in retainers. So. I’m currently rearranging the room so that I can keep the nerd shit, but also have a recording space that hides it all.

And that sucks, because I love this comic stuff.

But also at this crossroads is doing LESS comic stuff and doing more marketing.

But I can’t.

I have so many things in motion.

MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA is a 12-part series. We’re currently working on 4. I can’t just stop! THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS is an ongoing…I don’t want to stop! BULLET ASSASSIN is a 5-part series and we’re almost done! SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS is ending so that’s good at least.

But I also have SAMURAI PENGUIN BLADE one shot that is COMPLETED ready to be launched next year.

I have a series called FINDING CLUES WITH DETECTIVE BLUE in the works.

I have CARDMASTER HEARTBREAKER in the works as well.

I DON’T WANT TO STOP MAKING COMICS!

But at the same time, I can’t give all my attention to them anymore and that sucks.

So what is probably going to happen is this.

I just can’t be as active on the comic books twitters anymore. I can’t be active in the youtubes anymore. Maybe I’ll be lucky to do a drawing stream from time to time.

The only place that I can truly be active in comics is the MAKING THE COMICS part, the fulfillment side, and then this Substack.

My hope is that as I grow the marketing business, I can’t get to a point where I can come back and do more comic stuff.

When my business partner and I outlined our ideal working lives for the business, I told him that at some point I only want to work 4 hours a day, and that’s purely making content for the marketing business, getting the clients, and then helping with some big picture stuff. The other 4 hours I want to be making comics.

So. We’ll see how that goes.

But yeah. Besides all the personal shit that’s going on in my life, I’m also dealing with this split identity where I want to be having fun and making comics, making content, going on live shows, and living life like I was in 2018-2021. But the thing is, that time is over. I have a family now. I have massive business opportunities that I want to take. And comics, like they always have been, have been a side hustle.

BUT! If you’ve made it this far, DO NOT DESPAIR!

I am still making comics. We’re still having a silly goose time. It just means you might see me less active on socials and youtube.

But don’t worry. I’m always creating.

Okay! Let’s talk about Sky High!

Sky High Walked so that My Hero Academia Could RUN!

Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe there was SKY HIGH! If you’re not familiar with this Disney superhero movie, it follows Will Stronghold as he attends his Freshman year at Sky High to become a superhero. The problem, he doesn’t have any of his powers and his parents are some of the greatest heroes on the planet.

Throughout the course of the movie, Will and his friends must survive being classified as SIDE-KICKS because all of their powers are considered…not good…and Will has to avoid Warren Peace, a fire-user whose dad is in a maximum secure prison before of Will’s dad, the Commander.

Anyways. One day Warren and Will start fighting, which activates Will’s powers of super strength. He’s now promoted to SUPERHERO status, becomes popular with a girl named Gwen, and his SIDE KICK friends start to miss him. Will is in love with Gwen and because of this, breaks his father’s rule and takes her into their secret lair where a weapon known as the Pacifier is stolen.

On Homecoming, Gwen reveals herself as the super villain Royal Pain, and assembles the “bad kids” to do her bidding and destroy the school and turn everyone into babies with the Pacifier. Will and Warren team up along the rest of the sidekick friends, defeat Royal Pain, and the story ends their.

WHAT THE HECK DISNEY!?

You created a movie about the FRESHMAN year of a superhero school and stopped it there!?!?!?!?!? Oh my stars! This could be printing MONEY!

Don’t worry Disney! With the collapse of the MCU imminent, I will do my duties and show you what you COULD HAVE DONE with this series.

SOPHOMORE YEAR - Sky High 2

With the rest of the friend group now given SUPERHERO status thanks to the Commander (Will’s father), the group continues grow in their team work ability and figuring out how to best use their powers.

We also learn that Royal Pain’s crew of bad students have been sent off for a year of detention where they will be doing their schooling that year in a corrections facility.

My idea would be to have a new villain come up who is able to control some of the teachers at Sky High.

The group will notice that not all is what it seems, and that this particular villain is looking for something hidden within the school that has connections to The Commander and his wife from when they were in school.

At the same time, Warren Peace is still struggling with the fact that his father is a super villain, and he’s trying to be good. He knows he’s older than the rest of the group and tries not to rely on them.

Anyways. Evil villain comes, finds what they need, big battle, good guys win, end of movie.

I don’t really have this second movie thought out as much as the third and fourth.

JUNIOR YEAR - SKY HIGH 3

It might be the Junior for Will and his friends, but it’s the Senior year for the bad kids from Freshman year, namely Lash and Speed. It’s also the senior year for Warren Peace.

News has come out that the maximum security prison that was holding all the Super Villains has been broken into and several of the villains have escaped. The Commander and Jet Stream, along with several other heroes leave their kids so that they can stop this threat. The principle decides that it’s safest to get all students at Sky High to a safer location and take them to a classified safe area.

Lash and Speed start to cause chaos at this safe area as they start taking orders from the Jester from Sky High 1, and begin recruiting other kids to join them and be part of the next Super Villain society.

Warren is struggling even more since Sky High 2, and he learns that his father is one of the escaped convicts. When Lash and Speed give up the location of this new safe area to the Jester and the other villains, Will and Warren know that they need to team up with every one to stop them. Unfortunately Warren’s dad shows up and convinces Warren to join him. Will, unable to help Warren, has to fight him. A big battle ensues and the Commander along with other Superheroes come to save the day. Unfortunately the super villains get away, and Warren joins them.

SENIOR YEAR - SKY HIGH 4

It’s the senior for Will and his friends, and they all have to decide on their names, their branding, and also get assigned a sidekick that will join them in the field.

Outside of school, havoc is happening around the world as The Commander, Jetstream, and other heroes are struggling to round up all the super villains who escaped all at once.

Will’s sidekick is able to locate people through their power source, and Will uses that to locate Warren. Will tries to reason with Warren, however Warren’s desire to be make his father proud fogs his judgement. The two get into a massive fight, and Warren tells Will that the supervillains will be planning on wiping out the rest of the superhero children.

Will flies back to Sky High and informs The Commander that there will be an assault on Sky High. The Commander gets every superhero and prepares all the students for one big battle.

The Supervillains show up and a massive battle ensues. Will and Warren fight against each other, however Will doesn’t want to hurt him. Through an act of kindness, he spares Warren. Warren has a reconciliation moment with himself and takes on his dad. Big fight. Bing bang boom. Superheroes win. Villains put in prison. Senior is over. Will and his crew are now officially superheroes. The end.

EXCEPT IT’S NOT THE END!

Bruh with the way that shit is going in entertainment with reboot after reboot, or never ending sequels, you could make Sky High go on forever.

You could make a Sky High University movie or show with the same characters. You could do a 10 years later series or movie where all the characters are more established. You could do stories like The Commander retiring and Will taking on that new mantle. There are ENDLESS STORIES THAT YOU COULD DO IN THIS UNIVERSE AND DISNEY HAS DONE NOTHING WITH IT!

Okay that was my fun rant.

Comics wise, been very busy. Spend the whole week doing MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA fulfillment. Next up is BLACKJACK DUELIST fulfillment, and then we’re launching BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD #3 campaign!

SUPERMAN Review…

I went and saw SUPERMAN with my buddy Connor. Both him and I were very much fans of the Snyderverse. We loved the dark direction that DC was going with Man of Steel, Batman Vs Superman, Wonder Woman, and Suicide Squad. However, when WB started interfering with everything, kicking Snyder out, and then putting out that atrocious Justice League movie, I kinda gave up on the universe entirely. When I saw that Henry was back as Superman in Black Adam, I bought tickets, semi-enjoyed the movie, and was ready for the continuation of POSSIBLY the DC Universe that I was invested in at the beginning.

And then it was over. Gone. Kapeesh.

Then we got Matt Reeve’s THE BATMAN and while I liked it, I haven’t watched it since seeing it in theaters. I tried watching it once at home but it was such a freaking long movie that I turned it off. I don’t know if I was just bored or I couldn’t see the screen very well because it was day time, but I haven’t watched it since.

THE PENGUIN show, which is straight out of the Reeve’s Batman universe, has got to be one of my Top 10 greatest shows of all time. Holy crap that was amazing.

GIVE ME 8-EPISODES OF AN HBO BATMAN SHOW EVERY YEAR! COME ON!

So with the announcement of the new SUPERMAN, I was kinda like…

“Fine. I’ll go see it. Whatever.”

None of the trailers got me hyped. None of the cameos got me excited. The only thing I did like was that Rachel Broshnahan was Lois and that was just because I enjoyed her in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Anyways. I went and saw SUPERMAN. I went in with the lowest of expectations.

Wow.

Wow wow wow.

I really liked it.

[SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT]

Okay.

Things that I loved:

• I liked that Lex Luthor was just evil because he was evil and just a dick. I’m so sick of villains in comics and media having some empathetic back story that makes me go “well I see how we got here, it makes sense.” No. Lex was just awful and I loved it.

• I liked that Superman in the beginning of the film was all like “I’m an alien, and because my parents gave me this message of me being a good alien that my heritage means a lot to me” to “I’ve been on Earth my whole life and I actually have a ton of human values, so much so that I reject my alien heritage message and now am comforted by the scenes of my human childhood because that’s what I actually identify with.” Really loved it. I could go on and on.

• I liked Clark and Lois’s relationship a lot.

• I liked the Supergirl cameo at the end. I really really enjoyed it.

Things that I didn’t like:

• I don’t know if I actually liked that they skipped the origin (will talk about that later)

• That one time that Mr. Terrific went 1v50 on everyone, I hated the music they used. Very James Gunn, but still.

• I don’t care about having politics in my story, but this was definitely a “oh you were not hiding your message well” type of story. I didn’t bug me or take me out of it, but I have some thoughts (will talk about that later)

• The world felt too big too fast and I didn’t feel like this was entirely a SUPERMAN movie.

Overall I really enjoyed this movie. It definitely had me in the feels and I had a great time.

With that being said…I lost some backers because of this:

How I lost backers because of the movie…

I put on Twitter that I enjoyed the movie…evidently that’s something I shouldn’t have done.

I had a backer in my DMs ask me “I thought you liked good storytelling” in which I told them I did. We had a back and forth, but ultimately they felt that because I enjoyed this movie, that it reflected me as a storyteller entirely, and they canceled their pledge of SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS #1-4 on Kickstarter.

Luckily this was a first time backer, and while I wish that this wasn’t the case, the fact is, you can’t win over everyone.

But this begs the question.

Why is there such an emotional response over the SUPERMAN movie?

The Drama of the Comic Landscape

This section might offend you, and if it does I’m sorry, but I would LOVE your thoughts on in the comments, or you can email me with your response.

Right now there is a battle between two factions: Those who love the new Superman movie vs Those who Love Man of Steel and want this movie to fail.

Now. Before I go off on people, let me show some quick empathy. I understand being frustrated that you will never get to see the full version of Henry Cavill’s superman. I understand being pissed that after watching the 4-hour Snyder Cut of the Justice League, you realize how much was lost and how you’ll never to see the full realized version of that story.

But. To want THIS Superman movie to fail in the hopes that DC and WB will then re-instate Snyder to make his version is truly retarded. It’s not going to happen.

But why are these fans so passionate to the point of pushing so much vitriol on the internet?

Well. My thoughts?

Because for a lot of these fans…the comic book movies are all that they have to “call their own.” Let me explain.

Be warned. This could be offensive.

The comic book community is filled with individuals who lead truly lonely lives. Their lives are filled with fictional stories that they live in, in a way to escape reality. So when something that means so much to them (comics) is adapted onto the big screen for a mainstream audience, this is a really big deal.

They feel a type of ownership to the IP and to the movie. Their fandom, their love, their belief in this fictional character and story has helped fuel this company to eventually have enough money to put their characters on the big screen for the world to see.

So when the movie isn’t exactly what they want, the way they want it, or presented in the way they believe it should be, they get mad.

“How could they ignore the source material!?”

“Why are there all these jokes?”

“We were promised one thing and now we’re getting this!?”

“That’s not how this character is suppose to act because of Issue #269 of _____ where so and so does this…”

They forget that these stories that they have been consuming for years and years need to be compacted and told in almost simple and deconstructing ways in order for a more mainstream wider audience to enjoy it.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m typically with the community in the disagreements of how the comic movies are portrayed (especially DC comic movies), but I’ve never felt the need to throw such vitriol at others because they enjoyed something that I didn’t. What’s crazy is that many of them will make it their identity to be angry at those who enjoy something that they don’t.

And once again, having some empathy, I understand it. To them, this is their world, and they’ve built this world a certain way and have experienced it a certain way, that when it’s given to a wider audience, they want it to be consumed the way they consumed it. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn’t (most of the time it seems).

But ultimately, I hope that we can understand this.

As these IP’s continue to get more and more mainstream, we need to understand as fans of the comics that the characters and stories will possibly get diluted and simplified in order to appease a wider audience.

What can we do? Share what we love. Share the comic stories these movies come from and point people there.

Okay, you ready for the secret sauce!?

Tyler’s Secret Ingredient To Being Semi-Kinda Successful in Indie Comics Is…

My wife.

That’s the honest truth.

My wife. Let me explain.

In 2016-2017 I was dating a girl named Shelby seriously. We were inseparable, had a silly goose time, and were in love. One thing that Shelby hated though was any attention NOT given to her. I tried telling her multiple times how much I wanted to do comics, but she would also seduce or entice me into doing anything BUT drawing comics.

This led to a lot of early mornings and late nights due to me trying to make comics while also trying to spend time with her.

I remember when we finally broke up (after telling her I wanted to marry her), having this massive argument in my car. She was like “Tyler, we’re done, I’m leaving,” and slammed my door. I was in shock. All of a sudden the door opened again and Shelby stabs me one more time, this time in the heart. “Oh, and I never liked your comics. They were freaking stupid.”

Now. This hurt my feelings. I don’t remember what I said back to her, but whatever it was made her so mad that she grabbed my car keys and threw them in a field of tall grass. It was 1am, I couldn’t find my keys, and when I had finally found them, my car got booted and I had to pay a fine of $128.

Why do I tell this story?

Because in contrast to Shelby, my wife Lauren (Wren) has supported me in my comic endeavors since she met me.

Like seriously, this stuff is a time suck and can get financially messy at times.

When you’re making comics, creating a business, or doing anything of worth or risk, you need someone in your corner. That’s my wife.

You don’t understand how “non-nerdy” my family is. My parents still whenever I see them go “do you still draw those comic pages for fun?”

By my wife? My wife has my back and is in my corner, and honestly my biggest fan.

I remember once we were in Wisconsin visiting her parents, and I was just super antsy the first few days. At night she sat me down and was like “I can tell that you’re very anxious and are wanting to make comics and keep that business flowing, and can’t right now because we’re out of town for two weeks. Let’s go get you an iPad so that you can draw anywhere and you’ll be more aware and less stressed.”

Seriously. This woman is incredible.

With all the Youtube and Twitter drama, and with all the ups and downs of making comics while employed and while unemployed, she’s been by my side.

And today…

well…

Today we’re celebrating our 7th anniversary. 7 years of marriage, 2 kids, and tons of ups and downs.

She knows that I don’t plan on doing comics full-time, and that I’ve let that dream basically sail away. But she also knows how important working on things, telling stories, and ultimately being creative is to me. She knows that I get restless just sitting still and will force me onto my desk so that I get back to work on the next project.

So. To anyone who is looking for the secret sauce?

Well. Find yourself a beautiful partner and get married to them.

COMIC UPDATES

As you all know, I’m super busy making comics! With the launch of SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS #1-4, I’m doing my best to get that project ready for launch this Wednesday! I still have ONE LAST cover to get finished so we are truly on the wire!

MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA #3 was sent out digitally to backers last week, and I just got the physical books into my house this morning! Super exciting! I’ll spend Wednesday and Thursday getting the books ready for fulfillment, and then Friday to Sunday I’ll work on getting some fulfillment done. Unfortunately this fulfillment will have to be split into two parts since I’m missing one item and it’ll be shipped to me in two weeks. BUT! I’d rather just get started on some fulfillment now, you know?

BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD #3 is halfway through production and will be the next book we do!

BLACKJACK DUELIST is getting lettered next week and then sent to the printers!

NEW PROJECTS

Besides these current comic projects I’ve been working on some other things. Because SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS is coming to and end, and BULLET ASSASSIN will be ending very soon as well, my time will be freed up to do some other stuff. The projects I want to focus on are two fold, one that is permanent and one that is temporary.

1. Temporary Project: I want to create my own Batman series. Right now I have a 3-issue story I want to do. Whether I do more, or less, it doesn’t matter. That’s what I’m aiming for currently.

2. Permanent Project: I’m currently working on building out a new business/project that will heavily rely on Substack, and then trickle down to other social platforms. This new project is all about showcasing and teaching others how to turn their 9-5 jobs into acceleration machines to make more money, get better jobs, and even into entrepreneurial ventures. I know. Not comics related. But y’all know me…I love business and marketing.

Which brings me to our last update topic:

LIFE UPDATES

If you guys didn’t know, I run a marketing agency. It’s a startup and it has been exhausting, but rewarding. Over the last 14 months, I’ve been working with my friend Clint to build our clientele get them results, and continue to grow. Thanks to an investment we were given at the beginning, we were able to sustain ourselves this last year. We FINALLY hit the black and made profit (a whole $57) two months, last month we hit $4k in profit, and this month we’ll most likely hit $15k in profit, with a steady base of $10k in profit going forward.

3 weeks ago I went to Florida with my videographer Chance to hopefully work with a potential client. After an intense week of video shoots, product shoots, and marketing strategy, I got a message this morning saying they were moving forward with us and would wire us $20k on Tuesday.

So!

All in all. Where have I been?

Working. Traveling. Dying. Making comics. I’m on the grind.

However, these last three weeks have helped me re-position myself, my mindset, and honestly my life.

Here’s what I taken out of these last 2 months.

1. I want to make a habit of writing more. This is why from now on, I’m focusing most (if not all) of my businesses centered around writing. For comics, this means focusing heavily on Substack and Twitter (X). For my other businesses this means heavily communicating and creating detailed SOP’s for my teams. For my next project (9 to 5 Launchpad), it means writing daily and creating written products that can be used to help others use their 9-5s to accelerate their income, skills, and more.

2. I want to level up myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. I want to level up myself. Guys. I’m petty. I can let the lowest stupid people get under my skin and obsess over it for days, weeks, and even months. I want to focus purely on myself, my successes, becoming a better version of myself, and then using this transformation (hopefully) to help others as well and give opportunities to my friends.

3. I want focus on ONLY what is important to my goals. You know what I did a lot of these last two months? Not doing things that put ME or my goals first. I did a few debates on other people’s Youtube channels. While they were good discussions, ultimately I don’t think they moved the needle, they just stroked my ego and that was it. I spent 4 hours in a comics discussion when I could have spent 4 hours doing stuff that elevate and level up my self and my businesses.

So. To ask the question once again, where have I been?

I’ve been on the grind and working.

Where am I going?

This book is a five-issue mini-series written by Skottie Young (yeah, the guy known for the wild, cartoony stuff) and drawn by Jorge Corona, who absolutely crushes the visuals here. If you're into stories that feel like a mashup of a Western, a dark fairy tale, and a personal emotional journey through hell — this is your book.

The Art is Unreal

Let’s talk about the art first because...wow. Jorge Corona’s work in this series is next-level. The detail in every panel is insane. You can feel the grit in the air, the weight in every footstep, the silence between conversations. It’s expressive without being overdone, dark without being muddy. Every new area that Ryder, the main character, travels through feels completely unique — like each part of the world has its own soul.

The coloring by Jean-François Beaulieu brings it all to life with this almost washed-out, ghostly palette that still finds ways to punch you in the face with color when it matters. It’s not just good-looking art — it feels intentional. Every panel serves the story.

A World That Feels Lived-In (and Died-In)

One of my favorite things about Ain’t No Grave is the worldbuilding. As Ryder moves through these different areas, you get this sense that the world is massive and old — like there are decades of history, pain, and power just bubbling under the surface.

As Ryder dives deeper into the Underworld, she is met by..Elden Ring type bosses who are the lords of whatever section she is in. Like seriously, there designs are so good.

The book doesn’t stop to spoon-feed you exposition either. It just lets you feel your way through the world, which I loved. It respects the reader.

The Five Stages of Grief... and Then Some

Each issue tackles a different stage of grief, and it’s not just a theme — it’s the structure of the whole story. Ryder isn’t just fighting monsters or ghosts or whatever — she’s fighting her own guilt, rage, denial, and fear. The emotional beats hit hard, especially as you start to realize what’s actually driving her.

Without spoiling too much, there’s a deeper personal tragedy at the core of her journey, and the way the book slowly reveals that — while using symbolic environments and encounters — is just masterful. It doesn’t feel like a gimmick. It feels like the only way this story could be told.

That Ending Though…

No spoilers, but man… that ending. I thought I had it figured out. I really did. But the last few pages hit me in a way I didn’t expect. It wasn’t loud or twisty for the sake of being twisty — it was just honest. And painful. It made the whole journey feel worth it, even if it didn’t wrap things up in a perfect little bow. And that’s kind of the point.

Final Thoughts

If you're looking for something fast-paced and full of action, this might not be your favorite thing — although it does have its intense moments. But if you’re into character-driven stories, emotional storytelling, and incredible art, you’re going to want to pick this up.

Ain’t No Grave is the kind of book that sticks with you. It’s layered, it’s beautiful, it’s tragic, and it’s weird in all the right ways. I’d give it a solid 9 out of 10, and honestly, I already want to reread it to catch everything I might’ve missed the first time.

LOST FANTASY introduces us to a world in which magic and myth is introduced to the human world 100 years ago. Hunters have kept those on Earth safe from the monsters of fantasy throughout this 100 years.

However, when a little girl is attacked, rookie hunter Henry Blackheart is sent to stop it.

Let me start off with what I like about this comic. I’m a huge fan of crime procedurals, and as a creator myself, I’ve always had this idea of doing a crime procedural where a detective was able to access the “supernatural” world that is within ours to solve crimes. This book scratches that itch of mine. I also liked the art style for the most part. I love a comic that is heavy on the inks, and Luca Casalanguida’s art shines when he’s dropping that ink.

The pacing of this issue was pretty good as well thanks to it being an oversized first issue, we were able to get a solid introduction to the conflict, the world building, and the protagonist. Like seriously, the backstory of how Theodore Roosevelt combined the world of fantasy and Earth during the convergence was a really awesome world building aspect that I think could make LOST FANTASY an IP that can spin off into multiple series.

Also, the action was very solid. Towards the end of the first issue, Henry must battle 3 fantastical monsters.

There’s this cool sequence where Henry is able to like “go through his weapon inventory” and choose which weapon he is going to fight with, ultimately choosing a massive sword. The fight scene is awesome and very well choreographed. It was nice to see that Henry wasn’t the best at his job. We see him get thrown around a bunch, before actually getting good hits on his enemies.

One thing I wished about this fight was that we had gotten some narration on what he was fighting. I mean, we had a grey looking troll, a green dragon, and red bear tiger thing. I think this was a huge world building miss because these pages went by really quick, when as a reader I wish I could have stayed in this fight longer by learning more about these types of monsters.

But I wish there were sound effects and more dialogue throughout the fight.

And this is my biggest problem with the book actually.

The dialogue.

The dialogue was a mess at times and I wasn’t a fan of it. It wasn’t smooth and at times it didn’t feel natural. One panel sequence had the main character answer there phone to be like “who is this?” And the caller on the other side yelling “don’t get smart with me, you know who I am, it happened again” with the protagonist responding “understood.” Like. Why does Henry go who is this? When clearly they should have some understanding. Does Called ID not work in this world? This person clearly orders him around but he doesn’t have his number saved?

Also, there was just a ton of unnecessary swearing. At the beginning of the book, this 9 years old girl is dropping f-bombs like no other, and then Henry summons some dragons who also drop them. It reminded me of that scene in iRobot when Will Smith tells Shia Labeofs character to stop swearing because he’s bad at it.

So. Will I read more of this book?

Despite all of this, absolutely. I’m curious to see where this story goes. Maybe it’s because I love a good crime mystery drama, and adding the fantasy elements makes it even more fun. This is slowly building up to be one of those small town crime stories where everyone is involved. We learn that the little girl witnessed something horrific, and it’s possible the townsfolk are trying to cover up by using the world of fantasy as their allies.

I’m also intrigued by the main character. At the start of the book, it appeared that they were in some different world than ours before transporting themselves to Montana.

What’s crazy to me is how much this story is growing on me. At first I gave this book a 3/10. I then re-read the book and gave it a 5/10, which is what I posted on twitter. But as Ive read it now one more time in preparation for this review, I’m now giving it a 6/10.

Who knows where this series could land!
