the older I get, the more intentional I am about how I take care of myself. I know what happens when I’m sleeping well, moving consistently, eating food that supports me, and actually making time to recover. I have more energy, my anxiety is better, my digestion is better, I feel stronger, and honestly, I feel more confident too.

at this point, I’ve tried enough things to know that not everything needs to become part of my routine. I’m much more discerning about what actually makes a difference for me, what I can realistically stay consistent with, and what is worth keeping around.

I also don’t let wellness get in the way of living my life. I love a skinny spicy marg and french fries. I love dinners out, travel, and enjoying myself. I think the reason I can do all of that without overthinking it is because the rest of the time, my foundation is pretty solid.

I eat very clean, I move my body consistently, I prioritize sleep, and I have a handful of things that I know make me feel my best.

I have to be honest, I was a little anxious about my baby sister’s wedding. maybe anxious isn’t the right word. embarrassed, maybe.

for some background, my sister Julia and I are eight years apart, and I feel so lucky about that gap now. I got to have a little sister to dress up, to boss around a little, and to cheer on at every dance competition and game as I grew up.

Julia has such an old soul that even though I got the head start on her growing up, that age gap has felt smaller and smaller as we’ve gotten older. It feels like we’ve gotten to go through so much of later life together too.

watching my little sister find someone this right for her has been one of the best parts.

I feel so lucky that I also got NYC life and Hamptons summers with both of them. I got to have them just a few blocks away in the West Village, which was really special. my dog Matchee still tries to walk into their old apartment when we pass it. we had impromptu happy hours, sister therapy sessions on the stoop, and midday matcha breaks. I got summer nights on my deck in Montauk with them, dance parties at Surf Lodge, and sunset dinners at Duryea’s.

there’s so little drama between them. they just bring out the best in each other and they’re so clearly on the same page in life, which honestly is a little annoying because most of us have to work so much harder for that. me included.

I really thought by the day of this wedding I would be dating someone. that I would be on my way to the part of my future I always envisioned.

instead of dwelling on it, I decided to shift my mindset. how did I do that?

as our second summer of by dria events out east comes to a close, I have been thinking a lot about how my career actually began and why the Hamptons has become such a meaningful place to me. I realized that many of you probably don’t know that story. the Hamptons isn’t somewhere I started coming once I had established myself or built the career I wanted. in many ways, it’s one of the places where I learned how to build that career in the first place.

I want to share more of the parts of my life that came before any of this.

there was a version of me who was 27 years old, suddenly unemployed, and genuinely unsure of what she was going to do next. I moved to New York City right out of college with no job and one friend because I knew I wanted to work in fashion and was drawn to the ambition of the city.

I eventually found my way into PR, including roles at Calvin Klein, Topshop, and Ralph Lauren, and later joined a fashion-tech startup to lead communications. I was working constantly and at that point, I thought I was doing everything I was supposed to be doing to build a successful career.

then in 2015, I unexpectedly got laid off. the timing was especially complicated because I had an event scheduled at the Surf Lodge a few days later for that very company I’d just been laid off from.

I had planned it and I had personally spent so much time developing the relationships behind it that walking away didn’t feel right. I no longer knew what my job was going to be, but I knew I could still follow through on the work I had already done so I decided to go ahead with the event.

I also put the expense of the event on my personal card. a very naive move, but thankfully, I got reimbursed.

It was successful and afterward Jayma, the owner of the Surf Lodge, suggested we do another one. when I let her know my reality, she told me she needed help and asked if I wanted to consult at the Surf Lodge for the rest of the season.

without thinking, I said yes, even though at that time I didn’t really understand what consulting meant. but I knew it was the right move no matter what.

I was dancing alongside some of the most accomplished women in business when a song suddenly took me back to one of the hardest periods of my life.

we were outside in Montauk during a Forward__Space class at The DealmakeHers Beach Club at Gurney’s, overlooking the ocean, surrounded by female founders, C-suite executives, investors, and leaders I deeply admired.

I was also about to be a featured breakfast speaker alongside my friend and mentor Michelle Grant, with the amazing journalist Daniela Pierre-Bravo leading our conversation. and somehow, in the middle of all of that, I was taken straight back to high school.

for those of you who don’t know, high school was hell for me.

I’ve realized through years of therapy that one of my coping mechanisms is blocking things out so deeply I don’t remember them anymore. it’s like they didn’t happen. I erase the pain others have caused me. I know that isn’t healthy. but it’s how I protected myself. how I moved on.

lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how wellness isn’t something you do alone. yes, it’s the workouts, the supplements, and the routines, but it’s also the people you share them with. this week reminded me how much the women around me, the by dria community, and even little mornings with Matchee shape how I move through life.

I started the week creating a new little routine with Matchee. we journaled, meditated, and then headed to main beach in East Hampton for a long beach walk. watching her run on the beach never gets old. she is so unbelievably happy there, and it’s one of my favorite ways to start a day.

later, I went to Shou Sugi Ban House for hydrotherapy. I started with the cold plunge and then headed into the sauna. I actually got out earlier than I normally would because my body just wasn’t feeling it that day. I’ve been trying to listen to those signals instead of pushing through because I think I should.

this week was full in every possible way.

there were definitely moments when I felt tired and overscheduled, but I kept coming back to how grateful I am for the fuller seasons of life.

these are the weeks that can feel like a lot while you are in them, but when I slow down enough to really look around, I realize this is the kind of life my younger self would have dreamed about.

I started the week by taking my mom to my friend Sabrina’s home for a breakfast she was hosting with Haven Well Within, which was such a special way to spend time together. I wore this cute top with the tie detail and my new favorite striped pants. my mom wore this striped dress that was so flattering and comfortable. Matchee also came and immediately became best friends with Sabrina’s dog. watching them together was so cute.

later in the week, I was a guest on a House of Revelry panel. before I left, I took a few minutes to write out possible questions and the points I wanted to make. I know my own wellness routines. I talk about them all the time. but physically writing everything down helped me get clear on what I wanted to say and made me feel so much more confident going into the conversation. I honestly do not prepare this way enough, but I think it is becoming my new pre-speaking ritual. even when you know the subject, taking a moment to organize your thoughts changes how you show up. you are reminding yourself what you actually want people to take away.

we started the morning with breathwork led by Neeti. I recently did a retreat with Neeti, and that is actually where I met Purvi as well, so it felt really full circle for all of us to collaborate like this. I wore this bra and legging set with my striped sweater layered over it.

I started the week in the city and hit all of my usual stops. when I was younger, I thought routine meant doing the same boring thing over and over again. now, I crave it. I know what makes me feel good, and I genuinely look forward to those rituals. my Erika Bloom Pilates and Rigor Hill combination sets me up for success for the entire day. even when I have a crazy schedule ahead, getting my movement in first changes how I show up for everything that follows.

protecting my mornings is one of the biggest ways I’m able to perform at my best. my routine grounds the shit out of me: matcha, red light, meditation, and movement. for a little add-on, I’ve also been doing my MUTHA under-eye patches. I’m also still doing 50 mg of NAD+ a few times a week, and it continues to make such a difference in my energy. I did my morning routine in the cutest PJ set in white, which makes staying in pajamas feel slightly more acceptable. speaking of movement and routine, I was so excited to lift weights again, and the gym completely humbled me. I went in feeling so ready, and it was so much harder than I remembered, but I still did it.

as soon as my mom landed, we headed out east. this was our ninth summer having her come visit me in the Hamptons, which is so crazy to think about.

my dad gets FOMO every year, but it has become our girls’ weekend tradition.

I feel really lucky that my relationship with my mom has only gotten better as I’ve gotten older. there is something so special about reaching a point where your mom is still your mom, but she is also genuinely one of your favorite people to spend time with.

a few weeks ago, we hosted our second annual by dria premium wellness morning in the Hamptons and I wanted to give you the full breakdown of how the event came together from start to finish.

by dria began out East, which is part of why hosting this for our community means so much to me. these mornings take months to plan. dates get secured with the venue first and everything else builds from there, but the right space makes all the difference.

Shou Sugi Ban House is one of the most peaceful places I know to bring people together, so it felt like the perfect setting. it reflects everything I think about when I think about physical and mental wellness, and they even grow their own herbs, vegetables, berries, nuts, and edible flowers in their on-site gardens.

how I prepare

before an event, I always try to stick to my routine so I can feel as grounded as possible. I start with matcha, meditation, and journaling. if I have time, I also write out a few thoughts about what I want to say when I welcome everyone. I try to load up the car the night before, too, so there are no surprises in the morning. after hosting hundreds of wellness events over the years, I am finally getting better at preparing in advance. It helps me stay present once the event actually begins.

I always arrive early to place curated by dria gift bags on every mat and finalize the details.

It is always a little chaotic right before everyone arrives, but somehow it always comes together. and once people started walking in, I felt excited. I loved seeing so many familiar faces and that became one of my biggest takeaways from the entire morning.

after more than 10 summers out east, I’ve found the places I genuinely return to again and again. these are the ones that have earned a permanent place in my rotation because they consistently deliver. Provisions is one of my forever staples. I almost always order the turkey tacos or the turkey salad, and I live for their homemade chai. the market is also stocked with so many of the snack and wellness brands I already keep at home, which makes it an easy place to grab a meal and restock at the same time.

I love this place so much. every time I walk in, I find more of my favorite brands. the shop focuses on thoughtfully sourced products without seed oils, refined sugar, or unnecessary additives. they also carry organic skincare, pantry staples, and plenty of grab-and-go options. on my last visit, I snagged the Matchaful matcha, Bela tuna, Siesta Co. sardines, and anchovies. this summer, they also have a matcha and coffee bar.

this week really felt like the official start of by dria summer in the Hamptons. and as much as it looked like events, dinners, matcha, Pilates, and being outside, there was a lot happening behind the scenes too.

I feel like I don’t always share enough of the hard parts. if you’re newer here: I’ve worked in marketing my entire career and have had my own business for 10 years. working for yourself is so rewarding, but it’s also genuinely hard, and the hustle never really stops. I think it’s worth saying because this is obviously the highlight reel.

being in the Hamptons can look like frolicking, dinners, and pool days, and a lot of it is, but so much of it is also work. my business actually started out here 10 years ago, and even though everything about it has changed since then, it is still very much a hustle.

this week was a good example. I was up prepping for a podcast until 11pm, then straight into customer service, then straight back into events the next morning. summer gives FOMO in a strange way, and I always want to keep it real with you: it can be exciting and exhausting at the same time, and both things can be true.

I started the week back with my dear friend and amazing pilates instructor Beth Rodbell (Pilates by Beth), who teaches out of the Rasa Pilates studio in Amagansett every summer. this studio is so special, and I have so many memories here. It was actually the first time I got back on a reformer after my ACL surgery. the founder, Rasa, was a dance teacher in Lithuania before moving to the U.S., straight to East Hampton, where her studio has been thriving ever since. It feels like an old barn, with reformers and walls covered in her husband’s beach photography.

anyway, I always find that booking a workout to start the week grounds me, especially on weeks I know will be nonstop.

the week started with a 7am lift at Equinox that I genuinely did not want to do, but I’ve learned that when you know a week is going to be a lot, the hardest part is just getting the first thing done and letting the rest follow. I was still taking in the last of my routine before moving to the Hamptons for the summer.

you know the days where you have so much to do that you don’t even know where to start? I’ve learned over and over that it always gets done, you just make the list and go, so that’s what I did before driving out to pick up my summer car, which felt like the first sign that the season was starting.

Matchee had no idea, but she was about to book her first modeling job: a photo shoot for Alex Mill. the bts photos are so cute. my favorite is her in the Alex Mill weekend tote. the actual photos don’t come out until fall. she was completely wiped after, it was kinda cute… then I spent the rest of the day packing, and honestly, I was proud of my packing job this year.

Matchee was so ready for summer, and honestly, so was I. I arrived at my house for the season and spent the next few hours unpacking before I finally gave myself 10 minutes outside just to take it all in. I’m in a new house this year, since the one I had rented for six years is for sale. I’m in East Hampton instead of Montauk this time around. change is good and honestly it made me sit with how grateful I am to have another summer out here. It feels like another chapter.

It was a quick turnaround before I was heading to an event. I wore this dress made by my beautiful friend Alejandra.

the Mytheresa event was at Swifty’s at The Hedges Inn in East Hampton. It was the first event since the reopening with a royal remodel. the dinner felt like a kickoff to summer seeing so many friends.

I didn’t want to talk about this one until I was actually in phase 3. SIBO is so much more common than people realize, and I wanted to wait until I had the full picture, the good and the bad, what worked this time and what didn’t, and how I’m actually keeping it at bay now, before sharing any of it. so here it is, start to finish.

how I got here

I won’t bore you with every symptom (you know the ones: bloating after literally anything, constipation, that feeling of being stuck with inflammation all the time). I’d had SIBO before, so I had a feeling it was back. I asked my doctor for the test, and it didn’t take long to get the diagnosis confirmed from there.

I first knew something was up when I started getting bloated from things that had never bloated me before. that was the tell. and I’m a big believer (at this point I’d say I know it) that there’s a real correlation between your gut and your mind. stress is the thing that slows everything down for me specifically, it’s what causes excess bacteria to end up where it shouldn’t be in the first place. whenever there’s stress in any part of my life, it shows up in my gut almost immediately. I’m extremely sensitive that way. there were points where I was so uncomfortable I couldn’t button my pants.

I ended up working with two people who changed the trajectory of this completely: Lauren Hawkins, founder and CEO of Arōe Health, and Dr. Ruvini Wijetilaka, founder and CEO of Mecca Health. if you’re dealing with something gut related and feel like you’re getting the “everything looks normal” runaround from a standard doctor’s visit, I’d start there.

it feels like summer is in full swing, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve been spending summer out east for almost 10 years now, and it’s where my career actually started.

so every summer, I try to take a beat and reflect on how far I’ve come. my career and the Hamptons have always gone hand in hand. my entrepreneurial journey started out here. within two days of getting laid off, I was consulting for the Surf Lodge. I had no idea what working for myself would actually look like, but I ran with it. looking back, it was bold. I was so early in my career to be building something on my own, but clearly I believed in myself enough to go for it. every summer when I get out here, I try to reflect on how far I’ve come. it’s not easy. honestly, it’s way more natural for me to keep pushing, hustling, and building. but taking a moment to pause and look back feels necessary. sometimes, your younger self reminds you of everything you’ve already done and gives you exactly what you need.

it’s been a busy few weeks. with the TODAY Show and our by dria wellness evening at ETHĒA and the Knicks winning the NBA championship. first time since 1973. it was all a whirlwind and I feel like I hadn’t truly come up for air until last week.

Jalen Brunson said his confidence comes from his work ethic. I’ve been thinking about that all week. I moved to New York 15 years ago. I knew one person, didn’t have a job lined up, and my family was across the country. but the second I got here, something clicked. this city just got me immediately. and it has pushed me ever since to keep going, even when it was hard, even when I didn’t know if it was working.

owning my business now. owning my home. owning more of who I am every year. watching those players celebrate felt personal in a way I didn’t expect. it reminded me that you just keep getting back up.

and I know it isn’t an original New Yorker sentiment. every person in this city was feeling some version of this. but it brought out something in me that I don’t usually let myself sit with.

every time I go on the TODAY Show for my seasonal wellness segment, it truly never gets old. but also, my nerves still don’t go away. the experience is surreal because live tv moves so fast. it really feels like one moment you’re prepping in the dressing room going over your talking points and the next you are on air. there’s so much build up for something that happens in just a few minutes.

I now have a relationship with Jenna, which makes it so much fun to see her. she is hilarious and always wants to talk until the second we go live. sometimes it stresses me out, but I’m sort of used to it by now. I’ve also loved getting to know Sheinelle. this was only my second segment with her, but she is truly such a pro and she and Jenna have the best energy together.

the more I do these, the more I realize how important it is to actually enjoy the process. it can still feel really nerve-racking beforehand, but I also kind of love the adrenaline of it now. there’s something about feeling nervous, doing it anyway, and then realizing you’re more capable than you thought.

a few things that have helped me feel more present before going live are breathwork and dancing. I always want to feel clearheaded before a segment, but deep breathing or meditation alone doesn’t always cut it for me. I need to move my body too. it really does bring me back to the present moment and has become my little pre-live TV ritual. if I’ve learned anything from Forward__Space, it’s that dance is a release and it works. for the segment, I kept it simple and comfortable in this tank, a pencil skirt, and heels.

I’m also really excited about everything I featured this time. I wanted this summer wellness edit to be thoughtful and actually useful. summer is the best, but it’s also hot, sweaty, busy, social, and full of travel, so I wanted to share things people will really use. from tech to beauty to water, I feel like we covered the bases, and as you guys know, many of these are products I’ve talked about over and over again because I genuinely love them.

I was already in Cabo for my baby sister’s bachelorette, and since I was there, I decided to stay a couple of extra days. two of my best girlfriends joined me, and it ended up being exactly what I needed.

after the bachelorette weekend, which was so much fun and so busy, it felt really nice to take a few moments off, be by the ocean, and have slower time with my friends. we stayed at Viceroy Los Cabos, and I had never stayed there before. the waterfront villa was honestly amazing. the whole property is so beautiful and there is truly nothing more calming than being by the ocean.

coming off of memorial day weekend felt like a good shift. I took the weekend to actually decompress, which if you know me, you know is rare. going into the week, I felt more grounded and ready for summer to officially begin. and what better way to transition into the season than heading to Cabo for my sister’s bachelorette weekend that I was planning for 11 ladies.

you know that feeling right before vacation when it seems like you have to pack your entire life into three days? pre-travel consisted of appointments, work, packing, errands, emails. I decided to tackle it one thing at a time, which honestly is always the only way to do it. make the list and do it one step at a time.

I also did a little online shopping at Zara and wow. I really curated some good stuff guys. I found so many good things, including this new linen summer dress that I already know I’ll be wearing constantly. I did a matcha date with friend Kim Strother. I always love catching up with her because we both try so much wellness stuff and it’s always fun to compare notes and bounce things off each other.

before traveling, I stopped by Arōe Health for a hydration IV, which always feels necessary before a long flight. travel can be so draining and dehydrating, so I love doing what I can beforehand to make sure I land feeling good.

post-IV, I stopped cocktail hosted by my friend Micaela Erlanger at The Manner. it was such a beautiful night. I wore this chic lace dress with this anklet and heels. I posted the full look on Instagram, and so many of you guys were loving it. the dress really is a good find. oh and the Manner rooftop is also so beautiful.

then it was back home to finalize packing and attempt to squeeze everything into my suitcases. I had an early flight to Mexico. 8am. but I truly could not have been more excited to go celebrate my sister Julia.

before we get into the weekend, here are the things I never travel without: my matcha sticks, dria water (colostrum, creatine, and electrolytes), and rest + digest tea. I know you guys know the drill by now, but truly a big part of travel for me is still sticking to my routines. I don’t like to be rigid but I like to still feel like myself even if I’m on the go.

I started the week with Martha Stewart and Courteney Cox at lunch. the lunch was at Altro Paradiso, hosted by Martha and Courteney for their brands Elm Biosciences and Homecourt.

I saw so many familiar faces, and only for Martha would I do a lunch event on a Monday.

I’ve now met Martha Stewart a handful of times. she says she remembers me, but who knows. the amount of people she must meet. regardless, she is an icon and I feel so grateful spending any time with her.

some of you might remember when Martha told me to hold off on Botox as long as I could. I still haven’t done it, by the way. we continued to discuss this when I got a few moments with her before the panel started. she did tell me not to move my forehead a certain way lol.

Fine, moderated the pre-lunch panel between Martha Stewart and Courteney Cox. hearing Martha speak about her day to day was really inspiring. she is 84 and you wouldn’t know it. she spoke about how careful and thoughtful she is about what she does every single day so she can keep herself creating and inventing.

the thing I keep coming back to this week is something Hoda Kotb said at the Women in Wellness lunch I attended. she talked about joy, purpose, and staying open to your life: “life is not going to happen unless you’re open.” she spoke a lot about finding joy on the regular days, the days when nothing is really happening, and said, “that’s when you tap into the good stuff.”

I have been trying to embrace that more. I am constantly going and moving very fast. and look, I like that. it’s how I’ve built my life. but the more in tune with my nervous system I get, the more I realize how important it is to slow down with more intention. it’s so easy to forget to actually enjoy your life while you’re living it.

this past week was another nonstop week, which I’ll get into here, but I think the real joy in life comes from the moments of nothing. for me, that looks like a walk with my dog in my neighborhood listening to the birds chirp or not rushing to get my favorite matcha but actually enjoying those first few sips before moving onto the next thing.
