Democrats have to flip just FOUR seats to win the Senate. And over the past year, we’ve carved out multiple paths to the majority. As of today, Democrats are now tied or leading in nearly every single battleground -- including in Trump-won states.

Make no mistake: Senate Republicans are on defense thanks to our strong Democratic candidates running formidable campaigns focused on the issues that matter most to voters, like lowering costs and protecting health care. Meanwhile, Republicans have a roster of flawed and weakened candidates who are running on a toxic agenda that is jacking up costs and gutting health care all to give tax giveaways to billionaires.

Over these final two months, our Democratic candidates will tirelessly make their case in every battleground state.

And in just two months, Americans have the chance to say goodbye to the self-serving, price-spiking Republican agenda.

Who We’re Running Against

Democratic Senate candidates are running against some of the most corrupt, flawed, and out-of-touch Republicans there are. Their candidates have supported and voted to rip health care away from millions of Americans. They confirmed Trump’s judicial nominees to help create a far-right majority on the Supreme Court. And instead of working to lower costs, Republican candidates have rubber-stamped Trump’s toxic agenda that is raising costs.

Strong Grassroots Support vs Dark Money Billionaires

Our Democratic Senate candidates continue to raise incredibly strong fundraising hauls and are repeatedly outraising their GOP opponents. That’s all thanks to enthusiastic grassroots supporters who share their vision, understand the stakes, and want to defeat Republicans to take back the Senate. Republicans, meanwhile, are relying on dark money megadonors who are trying to bail out their flailing campaigns.

These midterm elections are shaping up to be some of the most expensive elections in history, but the contrast of who is behind Democrats and who is lining up behind Republicans couldn’t be more reflective of the stakes of this election. Democrats are fighting for people; Republicans are a reliable vote for special interests.

How We Fight Back

Over these final two months, we, alongside our Democratic candidates, will tirelessly make our case in every battleground state. To do that, we’ve launched a massive $40 million investment in our Win The Senate program to help build organizing programs and infrastructure for Democrats across Senate battlegrounds. We will work relentlessly to reach every voter we can, share our message, and help make sure their voice is heard.

We will also stand up and fight for everyone’s right to vote -- just as we have before. This past year, the DSCC even took Republicans to court to fight on behalf of Americans. From intervening in GOP efforts to rewrite campaign finance rules to challenging Trump’s illegal attack on mail-in voting, the DSCC and Senate Democrats won’t stop fighting to protect our democracy.

The Supreme Court’s most recent term is over. In its wake is a slate of decisions that will shape our politics for years to come, and Republicans are already moving to exploit every new advantage the Court has handed them.

This term empowered Trump’s agenda by rewriting campaign finance laws, gutting the Voting Rights Act, and weakening commonsense gun safety laws. And the consequences are now unfolding for all to see. I want to share some details about the Court’s harmful rulings on voting rights and campaign finance.

The Decisions

In April, Trump’s Supreme Court destroyed a key provision of the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais. For 60 years, the VRA has safeguarded voters against racially discriminatory district maps. But now, the Court’s decision has unleashed a wave of Republican-led gerrymandering that dilutes the power of minority voters in districts across the country.

The changes didn’t stop there.

In late June, the court ruled in NRSC v. FEC, siding with the Republican Party’s efforts to overturn decades of precedent and rewrite campaign finance laws, eliminating a key safeguard against corruption in our elections. This decision allows Republican committees to spend even more money from billionaires to prop up their candidates.

How did we get here?

None of this happened by accident. It started, as many things do, with the Senate. Republican Senate majorities rubber-stamped every single one of Trump’s handpicked justices: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.

Both of these cases, along with many other disastrous opinions over the last few years, can be directly connected to Senate Republicans’ confirmations of Trump’s three far-right justices. Among them: overturning Roe v. Wade and restricting abortion access, handing Trump immunity for official actions in Trump v. United States, and more.

This is what is at stake.

This isn’t abstract, and this isn’t an accident. What we do between now and November will determine our rights, our representation, and our future -- not only for ourselves, but for our children, and generations to come.

Senate Democrats have undeniably expanded the Battleground Map and created multiple paths to the majority -- including in states that Trump won handily in 2024.

Take a moment to survey the map with us:

🔵 Alaska:

Mary Peltola is focused on Alaska, and her Alaska values show clearly through her campaign’s motto: fish, family, and freedom. An election overperformer who has already won statewide, she has completely shifted the state of play in Alaska, with several polls showing her ahead of her opponent, Dan Sullivan, who has abandoned Alaskans.

🔵 Georgia:

Jon Ossoff is the only Democratic incumbent running in a state Trump won in 2024. Republicans are already spending millions trying to hit him with a barrage of attacks, but Jon is a fighter who focuses on what matters to Georgians: Health care, rooting out corruption, and fighting tooth and nail for his constituents. Meanwhile, Republicans are running a deeply flawed candidate who has come under scrutiny as he faces a House ethics investigation for potentially misusing taxpayer dollars and maintains “close ties” to a neo-Nazi propagandist -- his son-in-law.

🔵 Iowa:

Democrats have massively overperformed in multiple special elections here, including flipping two state house seats, and now GOP nominee Ashley Hinson is supporting an extreme agenda that’s hurting Iowans -- backing farm-killing tariffs and health care cuts. Josh Turek is the fighter Iowans need to take on corruption and protect farmers!

🔵 Maine:

Maine is one of our best pickup opportunities. Susan Collins is deeply underwater, suffering from some of the worst approval ratings of her career after she voted with Donald Trump 96% of the time and confirmed the justices who went on to overturn Roe v. Wade. Mainers are ready to flip this seat blue and elect Troy Jackson!

🔵 Michigan:

Michigan Republicans are once again stuck with flawed candidate Mike Rogers, who already failed to flip a state that Trump carried in 2024. Republicans blame Rogers’ loss on “candidate quality,” saying he “didn’t resonate with people” -- and now, with midterm backlash building due to the rising costs of gas, groceries, and health care coupled with baggage from Rogers’ 2024 run, Democrats are well-positioned to win this U.S. Senate seat. Abdul El-Sayed is leveraging his energetic campaign focused on putting more money back in Michiganders’ pockets.

🔵 New Hampshire:

Chris Pappas has a record of winning elections in one of the most competitive districts in the country. He maintains a lead against both of his potential Republican opponents in polling, and top analysts call him “a strong favorite to win in a general election.” Meanwhile, one opponent has backed the toxic Trump agenda at every turn, which is hurting Granite Staters’ pocketbooks while lining the pockets of billionaires.

🔵 North Carolina:

Widely popular former Governor Roy Cooper has never lost an election. Despite Republicans pouring millions into the state, Roy continues to build a formidable campaign, outraise his opponent, and maintain a tight lead in the polls.

🔵 Ohio:

A legendary fighter for the working class, former Senator Sherrod Brown is fighting to give Ohioans the leader they deserve in the Senate. He is working to oust appointed Senator Jon Husted, who is wrapped up in scandal and whose message to Ohioans struggling under the GOP-created affordability crisis was: “earn more.”

🔵 Texas:

Republican Ken Paxton is such a scandal-plagued, flawed candidate that national Republicans spent millions trying to prevent him from becoming the nominee. Meanwhile, Democrat James Talarico is campaigning throughout the state. James is sharing his message of uniting Texans and putting the people back in charge, instead of billionaires and their puppet politicians, while also talking about how he will take his record of fighting to lower costs for Texans to the Senate.

The Bottom Line:

Democrats have a strong path to take back the majority this November with our stellar candidates, flawed opponents, and an election environment that continues to move in Democrats’ direction -- which could inevitably bring even more states on the board. But make no mistake: This isn’t going to be a walk in the park. Republicans are already dumping millions of dollars into races across the map, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down.

Senate Republicans slashed Medicaid and kicked millions of Americans off their health care in order to fund a massive tax giveaway for Trump’s billionaire buddies.

The consequences of their actions are being felt across the country. Insurance costs have surged. Families have lost health care coverage. Local hospitals are at risk of closing. And all of this can be blamed on Senate Republicans advancing the health care gutting bill and other legislation that has harmed everyday Americans. This November, voters across the country will hold Senate Republicans accountable and defeat them at the ballot box.

Here are eight GOP Senate candidates who have supported gutting health care funding and how the bill is impacting the communities they claim to represent:

Alaska

Thanks to Dan Sullivan’s vote, tens of thousands of Alaskans are at risk of losing health care coverage, and Alaskans’ health insurance costs are skyrocketing. Here are just some of the impacts on his constituents:

• Roughly 28,000 Alaskans will lose their health insurance.

• $2 billion cut in Medicaid funding for Alaska, impacting clinic and hospital funding, particularly in rural areas.

• 27,000 Alaskan families will lose some or all access to food assistance programs while grocery prices are hitting record highs.

Georgia

Mike Collins “helped whip votes to pass” and voted to take health care away from Georgians to give tax breaks to billionaires. Here are some of the ways Collins’ vote will impact Georgians:

• 721,000 Georgians will lose their health care insurance.

• $6 billion cut in Medicaid funding for Georgia.

• 729,000 families will lose access to food assistance programs due to cuts to SNAP.

Iowa

Ashley Hinson said she was “proud” to vote for the Republican plan to slash Medicaid and kick millions of Americans off their health insurance and celebrated its passage. As a result of her vote:

• 110,000 Iowans will lose their health care insurance.

• $9 billion cuts in Medicaid funding for Iowa.

• 134,000 families will lose some or all access to food assistance programs due to cuts to SNAP.

Maine

Susan Collins provided a “key” and “pivotal” vote to advance the Republican plan to slash Medicaid and kick millions of Americans off their health insurance. Here is how it’s affecting Maine:

• 49,000 Mainers will lose their health care insurance.

• $3 billion in cuts to Medicaid funding for Maine.

• 101,000 families will lose some or all access to food assistance programs due to cuts to SNAP.

Michigan

Senate candidate Mike Rogers supported the GOP’s health care cutting bill, calling it a “monumental victory.” But these cuts have harmed Michiganders:

• 390,000 Michiganders will lose their health care insurance.

• $32 billion in cuts to Medicaid funding for Michigan.

• 800,000 families will lose some or all access to food assistance programs due to cuts to SNAP.

North Carolina

Senate candidate Michael Whatley supported taking away health care, calling the GOP plan a “huge win.” Here is what North Carolina is facing:

• 515,000 North Carolinians will lose their health care insurance.

• $23 billion cut in Medicaid funding for North Carolina.

• 784,000 families will lose some or all access to food assistance programs due to cuts to SNAP.

Ohio

Jon Husted not only voted in favor of gutting health care funding, he also called the bill that cut Medicaid, put Ohio hospitals at risk, and took food away from families, “pro-family.” Here is what his constituents face:

• 460,000 Ohioans will lose their health care insurance.

• $33 billion cut in Medicaid funding for Ohio.

• 717,000 families will lose some or all access to food assistance programs due to cuts to SNAP.

Texas

Senate candidate Ken Paxton spoke out in favor of the health care gutting bill and called its passage an “incredible moment.” Texans are already bearing the brunt of these cuts; now it is only getting worse under the Paxton-backed plan:

• 1.4 million Texans will lose their health care insurance.

• $31 billion cut in Medicaid funding for Texas.

• 1.5 million families will lose some or all access to food assistance programs due to cuts to SNAP.

Bottom line: in state after state, GOP candidates are on the record supporting devastating cuts to health care and programs families rely on in order to give the GOP tax giveaways to billionaires. Their priorities are twisted -- Americans deserve leaders who will fight for them, not the ultra-wealthy and special interests who are underwriting their campaigns.

Across the country, Republicans have made life harder for Americans -- spiking costs, slashing access to health care, and gutting programs that help families put food on the table. Democrats offer a change and are fully committed to lowering costs, protecting health care, and standing up to Trump and Republicans’ blatant corruption.

Voters have the opportunity to hold these MAGA candidates responsible for the harm they are causing this November. But in order to defeat them, it will take a team.

Today, we’re rounding up just a few moments when GOP Senate candidates have shown they are not focused on fixing the affordability crisis of their making. We won’t let the GOP hide from their records, and come November, we will defeat them to take back the Senate.

The Gilded Ballroom: A multi-million-dollar, taxpayer-funded vanity project

The Trump administration is spending more than $300 million of taxpayer money to construct Trump’s gilded ballroom while working families are struggling to afford gas, groceries, and health care. The administration even tried to get access to another 1 billion in taxpayer dollars in order to pay for his vanity project before Democrats banded together and blocked the funding. But Republican Senate candidates across the map supported this useless project.

Alaska GOP Senate Candidate DAN SULLIVAN downplayed the project as just a “renovation” and said a briefing for the funding totaling $1 billion was “compelling.”

Florida GOP Senate Candidate ASHLEY MOODY voted against an effort to block funding for the ballroom without congressional approval.

Georgia GOP Senate Candidate MIKE COLLINS is “100%” on board with spending taxpayer dollars for Trump’s ballroom.

Michigan GOP Senate Candidate MIKE ROGERS falsely claimed that the ballroom “didn’t cost taxpayers money” and said that people opposed to it were “all hot and bothered about all the wrong things.”

New Hampshire GOP Senate Candidate JOHN SUNUNU said “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with including public funding” for Trump’s ballroom vanity project.

And it’s not just the ballroom that Trump is using taxpayer dollars as a slush fund on. There was the taxpayer-funded multi-million-dollar ‘beautification’ project to paint the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool blue, only for it to become algae-infested and turn GREEN. And Trump wants to waste taxpayer money on his ‘Arc de Trump.’

While voters are struggling with skyrocketing costs and inflation, Trump is more focused on personal vanity projects than addressing the financial struggles of American families.

The One Big Ugly Bill that was ‘beautiful’ for none of us

It’s been over a year since Republicans passed Trump’s toxic bill that guts health care, is closing down rural hospitals, and raising costs for hard-working Americans across the country… all to fund tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. The GOP might be hoping you’ve forgotten about it, but no one remembers better than the American families who are suffering from its consequences.

In Alaska, DAN SULLIVAN voted to take health care away from 28,000 Alaskans, rip away $2 billion in Medicaid funding from Alaska, and threaten food assistance for tens of thousands of Alaskans.

In Florida, ASHLEY MOODY voted to take away health care from 2.2 million Floridians and rip away over $14 billion in Medicaid funding from Florida, and threaten food assistance for tens of thousands of Floridians.

In Georgia, MIKE COLLINS “helped whip votes” and voted to take health care away from 721,000 Georgians and rip away $6 billion in Medicaid funding from Georgia, and threaten food assistance for tens of thousands of Georgians.

In Iowa, ASHLEY HINSON voted to take health care away from roughly 110,000 Iowans and rip away over $9 billion in Medicaid funding from Iowa, and threaten food assistance for tens of thousands of Iowans.

In Maine, SUSAN COLLINS provided a “key” and “pivotal” vote to advance the bill that takes away health care from roughly 49,000 Mainers and rips away $3 billion in Medicaid funding from Maine, and threatens food assistance for tens of thousands of Mainers.

In Michigan, MIKE ROGERS supported the bill that takes away health care from roughly 390,000 Michiganders and rips away over $32 billion in Medicaid funding from Michigan, and threaten food assistance for tens of thousands of Michiganders.

In North Carolina, MICHAEL WHATLEY pushed to pass Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill, which will cause roughly 515,000 North Carolinians to lose health insurance, threaten food assistance for tens of thousands of North Carolinians, and cause North Carolina to lose over $23 billion in Medicaid funding.

In Ohio, JON HUSTED voted to take health care away from roughly 460,000 Ohioans and rip away over $33 billion in Medicaid funding from Ohio, and threaten food assistance for tens of thousands of Ohioans.

In Texas, KEN PAXTON praised the bill that takes away health care from roughly 1.4 million Texans and rips away over $31 billion in Medicaid funding from Texas, and threatens food assistance for tens of thousands of Texans.

Democrats sounded the alarm last year, and Democrats will keep sounding the alarm to fight back. Trump’s agenda, backed by Senate Republicans, does nothing to help hard-working Americans. In fact, it is making it harder for American families to afford the essentials, all while Trump enriches himself and Republicans’ billionaire-backers get tax breaks. That’s why, in November, voters will turn out and voice their dissatisfaction at the polls by electing Democrats to the Senate who will fight to lower costs and make life affordable again.

Affordability is top of mind for Democrats… the same cannot be said for the GOP

While Democrats prioritize easing the economic burdens Americans face, Trump and his Senate allies are making life less affordable. Trump isn’t even thinking about “Americans’ financial situations!”

And Trump’s allies in Congress and Republican candidates across the country either deny that an affordability crisis exists or blame everyday people for challenges they face!

Across the map, our Democratic candidates are fighting for a more affordable future, so families don’t have to make impossible decisions and hardworking Americans don’t have to suffer from the burdens of exploding bills. Democrats are committed to lowering costs, expanding health care, and ensuring our financial security.

We can and will defeat the Republicans who’ve made everything so expensive -- but it’s going to take all of us. Here’s how you do your part today to make sure we elect Democrats to the Senate and take back the majority:

SLF’s sole purpose is to elect Republican senators and retain their MAGA majority in the midterms. In 2024, they poured nearly $300 million into Senate races across the map and helped elect Trump’s Senate majority. Now they’re pumping even more dark money into this year’s midterms… and that $350 million total could still increase.

But the real story isn’t the $350 million -- it’s that the $350 million is only a small fraction of the sums Republicans have on-hand to deploy against Democrats in these midterms.

Looking for a rundown of where that money is going? Let’s go state by state.

Alaska: Dan Sullivan

Republicans are running scared in the Last Frontier. They know that Mary Peltola’s broad appeal with voters across the political spectrum could cost Republicans a Senate seat in Alaska for the first time in over a decade.

Why the panicked spending? The Dan Sullivan-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act is raising the cost of health care, gas, and groceries, and slashing critical services for Alaskans -- all in a state where milk already runs 17 bucks a gallon in some places. Defending that abysmal record is going to be tough against Peltola, who has won statewide before. Polls show a tight race, so here comes the GOP dark money.

Georgia: Mike Collins

Jon Ossoff, the only Democratic incumbent running for re-election in a state that Donald Trump won in 2024, will be facing serious GOP spending to boost his far-right opponent, Mike Collins -- no matter how flawed he is.

Collins is a close Trump ally who votes with MAGA Republicans even when it hurts Georgians. He enters the general election inextricably linked to Trump, whose favorability is suffering in the state, and he currently faces an investigation by the House Ethics Committee for misuse of taxpayer dollars. What’s more, troubling new reporting highlights Mike Collins’ deep ties to white nationalism and neo-Nazis.

Iowa: Ashley Hinson

Josh Turek is a proven winner -- both at the Paralympics and in Iowa, where he represents the reddest seat won by a Democrat in Iowa in 2024. As a result, Republicans are spending BIG in a state that Trump won by 13 points! They are dumping all of this money into supporting multi-millionaire Trump acolyte Ashley Hinson.

Hinson’s net worth has grown significantly throughout her time in office. At the same time, she is putting Iowans’ health care at risk, cutting Medicaid, blocking funding for veterans, and supporting an abortion ban. Ashley Hinson isn’t looking out for Iowans; she only looks out for herself.

Maine: Susan Collins

Republicans are spending in Maine to try to keep their reliable vote, Susan Collins, afloat. She has never been more vulnerable and faces some of the lowest approval ratings of her career.

Mainers are eager to vote her out after she voted with Trump 96 percent of the time, was a key vote to advance the GOP bill that guts Medicaid and raises health care costs in order to give billionaires tax handouts, and has continued to defend her vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, which led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Her toxic agenda is going to sink her ship this November against Troy Jackson, no matter how much money the GOP dumps into Maine.

Michigan: Mike Rogers

Failed candidate Mike Rogers is hoping that the second time is the charm as the SLF hopes to drag him across the finish line with millions in spending.

Price Hike Mike is dismissing the economic pain Michiganders are going through while he does the bidding of the corporate interests cutting him checks and multi-millionaires like him.

New Hampshire: John Sununu

In the Granite State, Republicans announced plans to spend $17 million to defeat Democratic Congressman Chris Pappas. His likely opponent, sell-out John E. Sununu, has a long record of shilling for Wall Street and big corporations and is completely out of touch with New Hampshire voters. Sununu has campaigned on raising health care costs and putting his party over the concerns of everyday voters.

North Carolina: Michael Whatley

Republicans are dumping some of the most money into North Carolina, where former Governor Roy Cooper is in a strong position to defeat his opponent, former Big Oil lobbyist and political insider Michael Whatley, and flip the Tar Heel State blue. Roy Cooper is undefeated in campaigns and has a real record of delivering for North Carolinians, but that won’t stop Republicans from trying to hold onto this state with everything they have.

Whatley actively pushed for legislation that increased drug prices for North Carolina seniors -- all while he personally profited, thanks to his over a quarter million dollars invested in pharmaceutical companies. Not only that, but he has elevated predator Harvey Lee West, championed disgraced Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, and he has downplayed calls to release the Epstein files.

Ohio: Jon Husted

Currently at the top of the GOP’s mega-spending list is the Buckeye State. Republicans are clearly scared of Sherrod Brown’s record of fighting for all Ohioans as he continues to maintain a slim lead in the polls against his opponent, Jon Husted.

While Ohioans know Sherrod as a trusted leader who has spent his career standing up for workers and delivering real results, they are learning that appointed-Senator Jon Husted is siding with corporations and billionaires over hardworking Ohio families -- like when he cast the deciding vote to raise the cost of health insurance and strip coverage away from nearly half a million Ohioans in order to pay for the largest billionaire tax giveaway in American history.

Takeaways

These midterms could very well be the most expensive in American history. While Republicans are relying on their billionaire megadonors, Democrats are relying on grassroots supporters like you.

If we want to have any chance of taking back the Senate, we are going to need a massive surge of support from our grassroots team. If we can’t counter this mega-spending, then a blue Senate could slip through our fingers.

These elections are going to be some of the most consequential of our lifetimes, but if you’re reading this, I’m sure you already know that. I wanted to take the chance to go over the stakes of why these elections are so important and how the DSCC is feeling heading into them.

Day after day, we have seen that Donald Trump will stop at nothing to make our lives harder and more expensive. I am here to tell you that if we allow him to demotivate us, he’s going to keep making things worse.

Senate Republicans have allowed Trump to get away with whatever he’s wanted. They pushed through his ‘One Big Beautiful Bill,’ which gutted health care access for millions and raised costs for everyday Americans in order to grant tax giveaways to billionaires. They’ve rubber-stamped Trump’s far-right Cabinet picks like Pete Hegseth and RFK Jr. They’ve remained silent as he’s attacked elections, the First Amendment, and more. In short, they’ve proven over and over that they care more about appeasing their leader than sticking up for folks like you.

Those are the stakes if we allow Senate Republicans to remain in control. But if Democrats flip the Senate, we will put a check on this out-of-control administration.

There is real reason to have hope that a blue Senate is possible. Our candidates have run stellar campaigns and they are focused on issues that matter to voters, from affordability to fighting against corruption. Because of who they are and the campaigns they are running, polling has shown that a blue wave is possible across the country.

I feel confident in our chances of taking back the Senate this fall. I see our team here at the DSCC, our volunteers on the ground, and supporters like you working hard to help flip the Senate every single day.

North Carolina: Governor Roy Cooper

A LIFELONG PUBLIC SERVANT

Born and raised in Nash County, North Carolina, Roy Cooper is a lifelong public servant for the Tar Heel State. He has served in the state legislature, as Attorney General, and as Governor of North Carolina. Now, he’s running for Senate to keep fighting for North Carolinians, this time taking the fight to Washington for working families.

MAKE STUFF COST LESS

To put it simply, Roy Cooper is running for Senate to “Make Stuff Cost Less” for North Carolinians. From childcare to groceries, medical bills to housing, working families face rising costs across the board -- and Cooper is fighting to fix that.

STATUS OF THE RACE:

Roy Cooper is up against Michael Whatley, the former chair of the Republican National Committee who is seriously out of touch with the realities North Carolinians are facing. Whatley has said that “costs are coming down” when they were in fact rising, has spent his entire career schmoozing with billionaires as a DC insider and Big Oil lobbyist, and even pushed for the GOP bill that spiked healthcare costs -- all while advocating for policies that will boost his own stock portfolio. Whatley has not fought for working families in the past, and he cannot be trusted to do so going forward.

Texas: State Senator James Talarico

THE “TERRIFIC” TALARICO

As an eighth-generation Texan and former middle school teacher, James doesn’t scare easily -- in fact, he’s ready to go up against mega-donors and their dark money in politics to make our government work for us again. In the Texas state legislature, he’s worked to deliver lower prescription drug costs, funding for neighborhood schools, and expanded job opportunities for young adults. He’s led the fight against corruption and billionaires rigging the system in Texas, and he will bring this fight to Washington to “start flipping tables” of injustice and take back power for working people. It’s no wonder that even President Obama thinks James is “terrific.”

SCANDAL-PLAGUED OPPONENT

James Talarico is up against crooked Ken Paxton, a corrupt, self-serving politician whose own party tried to remove from office. Even Senate Republicans’ campaign arm called Paxton “repulsive and disgusting” and said that “a lot of people who trust Ken Paxton “get lied to” in now-deleted statements.

Flipping Texas would change the game for us, and James has put in the work to make it happen. He’s traveled across the Lone Star State to meet Texans where they are at, and momentum is building. After Paxton became the Republican nominee in Texas, The Cook Political Report shifted its rating for this seat toward Democrats! Iowa: State Representative Josh Turek

After representing Team USA at four Paralympics and winning gold twice, Josh Turek returned to his hometown to represent Council Bluffs in the Iowa state legislature. Josh is a highly effective legislator who gets stuff done: He has worked to alleviate economic pressures for cash-strapped Iowans and reform the broken healthcare system in the state.

After Josh Turek won the Democratic nomination in the Iowa primary, The Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball, two top election forecasters, shifted this Senate race toward Democrats! Josh Turek is a two-time Paralympic gold medalist and Iowa state legislator who represented the United States on the world stage. He has built a reputation for working across the aisle to get real results for Iowans. Republicans’ Medicaid cuts are destroying rural health facilities. Ongoing financial distress has made Iowa lead the nation in farm foreclosures. Iowans want leaders who are unafraid and are going to tackle these issues.

Turek’s Favorability

Iowans are fired up about Josh Turek, and they’re rejecting Ashley Hinson, whose approval rating is tanking as she supports a war that’s spiking prices and hurting the economy. A recent poll showed Turek with a nine-point favorability lead on Hinson, who is 5 points underwater.

The poll comes after Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball changed Iowa’s rating in Democrats’ favor.

North Carolina, Alaska, and Ohio have ALL shifted in Democrats’ direction, creating “enough Toss-up races to give Democrats a clearer path to winning the Senate majority.”

The political environment “could be as bad for Republicans as 2018 was, or perhaps even worse.” GOP Senate candidates are being weighed down by their support of a toxic agenda that’s making the affordability crisis worse, and Republicans are still reckoning with embarrassing recruitment failures that have resulted in messy GOP primaries and nominees who’ve “underwhelmed.”

Meanwhile, Democrats have created multiple paths to winning the majority by nominating formidable candidates, running strong campaigns, and holding Republicans accountable for spiking costs and hurting working families.

Here’s what Sabato’s team had to say about these three ratings changes:

North Carolina

• “It’s become harder to give Republicans the benefit of the doubt in a state like North Carolina…”

• “it increasingly appears that former Gov. Roy Cooper (D) has the upper hand. There probably was a case, given his history in the state, for starting him out as a favorite as soon as he entered the contest nearly a year ago.”

• “Meanwhile, we are somewhat underwhelmed with former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley’s efforts as the GOP nominee… last month, Whatley expressed support for Trump’s “anti-weaponization” fund even as the idea proved beyond the pale…”

• “While Cooper, one of the strongest Democratic fundraisers on the Senate map, has handily outraised Whatley on a candidate-to-candidate basis… this may end up as a razor-thin race by Election Day.”

The stakes in this race are clear: While Cooper has dedicated his career to fighting for North Carolina, Michael Whatley is a political insider and former lobbyist who’s only fought for himself and his special-interest backers. In November, we must stop Whatley and send former Governor Cooper to the Senate.

Alaska and Ohio

• “The Buckeye State and Last Frontier have long seemed like the most promising targets for Democrats among the list of potentially competitive double-digit Trump states that Republicans are defending in the Senate.”

• “In Ohio, Fox News turned heads… with a poll showing Brown up 53%-45% on Husted in the race… despite Husted serving in state government for a quarter century...”

• “Peltola has been leading Sullivan in [Alaska Survey Research] polls after Sullivan led last summer, before Peltola was a candidate.”

• “We have debated whether both Ohio and Alaska belong as Toss-ups, and we keep coming back to this basic point: If both Peltola and Brown could come reasonably close in 2024 as Trump was carrying their states by double digits, doesn’t it seem plausible that both have a reasonable chance to win in what should be a much better political environment than 2024 was?”

Cooper. Peltola. Brown. These are just some of our candidates who stand a stellar chance of winning their elections in November. The momentum is on our side, and we need to keep building on it. We can’t let Republicans catch up, so we need your support.

What is notable, however, is how Republicans have responded. Trump’s GOP allies in the U.S. Senate are giving him free rein -- putting themselves and their own self-interest ahead of the people they’re supposed to represent. Let’s name names:

Jon Husted in Ohio

Jon Husted was appointed to replace JD Vance in the Senate -- and he is at the center of the largest bribery scandal in Ohio history. But don’t take our word for it:

With headlines like that, it’s no wonder the GOP has pledged to flood Ohio with $79 million to try and keep this self-serving Republican in office.

But while Husted votes to slash Ohioans’ healthcare and backs the war in Iran that’s spiking gas prices across the country, he tells struggling Ohioans that they are “not very experienced at navigating the real world” and says they need to learn how to budget. He even told Ohioans worried about how to make ends meet that they should just “earn more,” and called hardworking Ohioans’ work ethic “broken.”

Husted could not be more out of touch. The good news for Ohioans is that a true fighter for Ohio’s hardworking families is running against Husted. With your support, Sherrod Brown will take back this seat.

Susan Collins in Maine

Susan Collins entered her 2026 re-election campaign with some of the lowest approval ratings of her career after she greenlit Medicaid cuts, voted to gut affordable healthcare for thousands of Mainers, and confirmed the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade.

That’s what has defined Susan Collins’ three-decade-long time in the Senate. While voting in lockstep with Republicans to pass healthcare cuts, confirm extreme right-wing nominees, and quietly undermine bipartisan efforts to rein in Trump, she tries to cover up her voting record back in Maine.

Mainers know Collins can’t be trusted to side with them over Trump and national Republicans. With your help, we can defeat Susan Collins.

Michael Whatley in North Carolina

DC insider and big oil lobbyist Michael Whatley has spent his career doing the bidding of big corporations, while North Carolina has paid the price. Whatley spent more than a decade lobbying for utility companies and “argu[ing] in favor of rate increases” for North Carolinians -- the same companies he now owns nearly half a million in stock in.

As a candidate for U.S. Senate, Whatley supported Trump’s historically corrupt $1.8 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund, while Whatley-backed Republican healthcare cuts sent costs soaring for North Carolinians.

Governor Roy Cooper is fighting to make stuff cost less, and North Carolinians will send him to the Senate if we all come together and help in key races like North Carolina’s.

IN SUMMARY: WE MUST WIN BACK THE SENATE.

The Republican Senate lineup is filled to the brim with scandal-ridden, dishonest, out-for-themselves insiders who will never stand up for American families.

As I’m sure you’ve already heard, the U.S. Supreme Court recently issued a decision in National Republican Senatorial Committee v. Federal Election Commission. The conservative majority sided with the Republican Party’s efforts to overturn decades of precedent by rewriting campaign finance laws and eliminating a key safeguard against corruption in our elections.

Democratic Senate candidates have consistently outraised their Republican opponents, powered by strong grassroots support from voters like you. Republicans’ scheme to overturn campaign finance law is a clear and blatant effort to rewrite election rules for their own benefit and send more money from billionaires to prop up their candidates.

Republicans know they’re on pace for a catastrophic defeat this November. But instead of changing course and trying to win back the trust they’ve forfeited, they’ve decided to try to rewrite election rules for their own benefit.

Recently, Trump’s Supreme Court majority destroyed a key provision of the Voting Rights Act. For more than 60 years, the VRA has protected our most fundamental constitutional freedoms -- but now, a 6-3 decision allows Republicans to gerrymander their congressional and legislative maps to purposefully disenfranchise Black voters.

All of this was only possible because Senate Republicans pushed through three of Trump’s handpicked, extremist nominees for the Supreme Court. Make no mistake: Trump’s strategy to attack voting rights is intentional, and it’s been years in the making.

Trump has proven he’ll stop at nothing to undermine our democracy. We must continue to stand up to defend our most sacred rights.

Trump wants us to give up -- but no matter what, we’re going to keep up the fight. All he is doing is motivating us to fight harder.

Trump’s already told me to “go to hell.” I wear that as a badge of honor.

Republicans’ latest obsession is infringing on the rights of Americans to cast their ballots, including those who vote by mail, so that they can control who gets to cast a ballot. They want to force states to follow along with this scheme, but we are not about to let that happen. When Trump signed this unconstitutional Executive Order, the DSCC immediately sued to block it. Why? Because the fight for our democracy is a grueling one, but it’s one worth having.

Trump wants to wear us down and make us so used to his power grabs that we ignore them. He’s trying to convince us that we’ve already lost the fight, that any resistance is a waste of time. He wants us to believe that subverting our democracy is acceptable. You and I both know that we can never let him have that victory.

With the help of the Senate Republicans who confirmed them, Trump’s far-right majority overturned Roe v. Wade, made the Voting Rights Act a dead letter, and -- unsatisfied with the damage they’d already done to our rights and our democracy -- gave Donald Trump immunity for his horrific abuses of power.

Under its current Republican majority, the Supreme Court has shown exactly why control of the Senate -- and with it, the power to confirm justices -- has never been more important.

To understand how we got here, we need to turn back the clock and look back at the last decade.

2016.

In the last year of Barack Obama’s presidency, a vacancy emerged on the Supreme Court. Then-President Obama chose a nominee who a top Senate Republican called a “consensus nominee” -- someone who could easily earn bipartisan support.

But Republicans had a majority in the Senate. Breaking with over a century of precedent, they refused to even hold a hearing, let alone a vote -- claiming that a Supreme Court vacancy nearly a year before the next election could not be filled until after. The GOP stalled until Donald Trump became president, then confirmed Trump’s pick, Neil Gorsuch.

2018.

A second vacancy appeared on the Supreme Court. Aided by Republican senators like Susan Collins, Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh -- and the Republican Senate majority barely confirmed him by a vote of 50-48, with Susan Collins casting the deciding vote.

2020.

After another vacancy appeared on the Supreme Court, the GOP backtracked on the “McConnell Rule” precedent that they set for President Obama’s nominee. Republicans hastily rammed through Trump’s nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, just 8 days before the election Trump went on to lose. Republicans’ shady actions helped them pick up three seats on the Court.

2022.

The GOP judicial playbook yielded this devastating result: The Supreme Court voted 5-4 to overturn Roe v. Wade, ripping away Americans’ reproductive freedom -- an outcome only made possible by Senate Republicans enshrining Trump’s conservative Supreme Court majority.

2026.

That brings us to today. That conservative majority has gone on to grant Trump immunity for his despicable actions and gut voting rights.

All because Republicans held the Senate.

Look at where we are now. Once again, Trump is in the White House. Once again, Republicans control the Senate. If another vacancy opens up, Trump could appoint a FOURTH justice, cementing a right-wing supermajority for a generation.

However, there’s another path for us. In a few short months, Democrats have a chance to take back the Senate. If we succeed, we’ll win the power to place a serious check on ANY future Trump nominee.

But that’s a big “if.”

To turn that “if” to a “when,” we’ll need to flip four seats so we can take back the Senate. That’ll take Democrats coming together to win tough races and beat Republicans in battleground states. That’ll take you. The stakes of the midterm elections have never been clearer: healthcare and voting rights are on the ballot -- and voters understand the importance of securing a Democratic Senate majority with the power to confirm or reject Supreme Court justices.

To prevent Trump from dealing even more damage to the judiciary and prove that Americans won’t tolerate right-wing attacks on our rights and freedoms, we need to act immediately to flip the Senate blue. Protecting Free and Fair Elections

Our democracy is under attack. From mail-in ballot restrictions to gutting the Voting Rights Act, the Trump administration and its allies in Congress and the courts will stop at nothing to completely upend and control our elections.

That’s why we sued Trump immediately when he tried to restrict mail-in voting. And our legal team works tirelessly to combat Republican efforts to disenfranchise voters or tilt the election rules in their favor -- even taking the fight all the way to the Supreme Court. Trump’s efforts to infringe on the rights of American voters across the country by making voting even more difficult are completely unacceptable, and we will continue to fight back.

Exposing Senate Republicans’ corruption

Whether it’s making billionaires richer at the expense of working Americans or the $1.8 billion slush fund to pay off his political allies, Trump’s corruption isn’t stopping anytime soon. Senate Republicans are right there with him, pushing an agenda that makes the rich richer while costs for families spike higher and higher.

It’s part of our job at the DSCC to make sure voters know about Republican Senate candidates’ pattern of corruption before November. Our communications team works around the clock to inform voters of what we’re up against in these midterms and to get the message out about why supporting Democrats is essential.

Recruiting and Supporting Strong Democratic Candidates

We’re expanding the Senate map and creating as many paths to the majority as possible. It’s absolutely vital to our fight for the Senate to recruit the best candidates who are a good fit for their states and who know how to get things done.

We put Republicans on defense, forcing them to spread their resources thinner to defend their vulnerable majority. The fight for the Senate won’t be easy, but strong candidates in battleground states make a world of difference.

Once those candidates hit the campaign trail, step two of our mission is to get the word out about the amazing work they’re doing and will continue to do once elected. Uplifting Democrats’ positive vision for the future is paramount, so that voters know they have an alternative to the chaos, corruption, and out-of-control costs they’re getting from Republicans.

Fundraising for Democrats to Overcome GOP Mega-Spending

Our digital fundraising and finance teams work tirelessly to ensure we’re meeting our fundraising goals and raising enough money to keep up with the GOP.

It’s a tough task, though. Republicans recently unveiled a $342 million plan to defend their Senate majority -- and that’s only the beginning. In the 2024 elections, Elon Musk single-handedly spent almost that much to elect Trump and Republicans. He could be gearing up to spend MILLIONS more, so we need all hands on deck to counteract this spending.

Our Recent Lawsuits

CASE 1: TRUMP TARGETS THE FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION

Not long after Trump returned to the White House, he tried to take over the Federal Election Commission (FEC), attempting to interfere with our elections by making this bipartisan agency subject to the whims of an individual, partisan personality -- Trump.

HOW WE RESPONDED:

We filed a lawsuit immediately to stop Trump because Americans deserve impartial oversight of our elections. Agencies like the FEC must be protected from partisan takeover by the president. Having day-to-day control of the FEC could have allowed Donald Trump to dictate campaign rules he wants from the White House.

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT:

The Trump Administration caved! They conceded and backed down from threatening the FEC’s independence.

CASE OUTCOME:

Because the Trump Administration backed down, this case was dismissed. The court made clear that the FEC must be preserved as an independent agency. This was a crucial win in preventing Trump from dictating whatever campaign rules he’d like, preserving the impartiality of the FEC and other independent organizations.

CASE 2: GOP AIMS TO REWRITE CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAWS

Next, Trump and his allies aimed to rewrite campaign finance laws to their benefit. Their assault on our campaign finance system is yet another attempt at tearing down our institutions to weaken our democracy.

For decades, Republicans have been trying to eliminate limits on coordinated party expenditures so their billionaire backers can spend even more money propping up out-of-touch MAGA candidates. These efforts had failed previously, but last May, Trump’s DOJ refused to defend the law.

OUR INTERVENTION:

We stepped in with a motion to intervene and went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to defend the law and stop Trump and the Republican Party from rewriting campaign finance rules for their own benefit.

CASE STATUS:

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in our case last December. This case is still ongoing, but the Court’s decision could come any day now, so we must be prepared to keep fighting back by flipping the Senate.

CASE 3: TRUMP GOES AFTER MAIL-IN VOTING

This spring, Donald Trump tried to restrict mail-in voting just weeks after he himself voted by mail! With this executive order, Trump tried to assert control over voter rolls.

Trump’s claim of a crisis of fraudulent mail-in voting is a bald-faced lie. In fact, states have long been administering voting by mail safely, securely, and effectively -- including Republican-led states!

OUR IMMEDIATE RESPONSE:

We sued the very next day to challenge Trump’s illegal attack on mail-in voting.

CASE STATUS:

The judge declined to temporarily block Trump’s executive order. This means the case is still being litigated. We are determined to ensure that election regulation remains a constitutional state right, and that Trump does not infringe on individual states’ ability to carry out safe and secure elections.

Why do we fight Trump in the courts?

Fighting in the courts is just one way we can push back against Trump’s disastrous agenda and defend our freedoms and rights.

Trump and his allies’ attacks on the right to vote and American democracy are never-ending, but we can assure you this: The DSCC will fight back every time Trump tries to unilaterally and unconstitutionally rewrite our election laws. Democrats refuse to sit on the sidelines when our democracy comes under attack.

We’ll never stop fighting with every single tool we have to make sure we preserve the principle our country was founded on: A government of the people, by the people, for the people.

How do these legal fights help us win?

As the only committee solely dedicated to electing a Democratic Senate, the DSCC is uniquely positioned to fight on behalf of Americans across the country. That’s why we take Trump and his lackeys to court when they threaten Americans’ fundamental right to vote. We’re fighting with everything we’ve got to make sure every eligible ballot is counted. And we’re preparing for any challenges that will come this November, ready to deploy our resources in the event of recounts, lawsuits, and whatever else comes our way.

These legal fights bring us closer to protecting everyone’s civil rights -- but they alone are not enough to stop Trump.

The Republican-majority Senate is rubber-stamping almost all of Trump’s agenda, so flipping the Senate is crucial to holding Trump accountable. When we elect Democrats to the Senate, we elect fighters who work for the people and are committed to making sure that every family can thrive.

We see it in our rising medical bills. We see it in our struggling local hospitals and clinics. We see it in millions of hardworking Americans losing coverage. Many Americans find themselves one accident or bad test result away from bankruptcy, while Donald Trump builds a golden ballroom for himself and his megadonors.

Make no mistake -- this is Trump and Senate Republicans’ healthcare crisis.

EXHIBIT A: The GOP is dead set on repealing the Affordable Care Act.

In the 16 years since the Affordable Care Act expanded coverage for millions of Americans, Republicans have held no fewer than 100 votes to kick MILLIONS of Americans off their health insurance.

In states like New Hampshire, Michigan, and Iowa, the GOP’s Senate frontrunners have done everything in their power to dismantle the ACA and rip away the coverage hardworking Americans rely on.

EXHIBIT B: Republicans have already slashed health coverage for millions of Americans.

Senate Republicans slashed healthcare and allowed premiums to skyrocket for millions of their constituents. Ohio’s Jon Husted voted to kick nearly half a million of his fellow Ohioans off Medicaid. Dan Sullivan of Alaska did the same for tens of thousands of Alaskans. Susan Collins also provided a key vote to rip healthcare away from roughly 33,000 Mainers.

And those cuts had a ripple effect. Because of Republicans’ healthcare crisis, Ohio’s average health insurance costs are projected to go up 83%. In Maine, 117%. In Alaska, 125%. And it doesn’t end there.

EXHIBIT C: Hospitals are closing. Fast.

Even for those who can afford to pay double, triple, or quadruple for their health insurance -- and those who stretch the family finances past the breaking point to make it possible -- what happens to them if their nearest hospital is hours away because their local hospital shut its doors due to Senate Republicans’ cuts?

This could be the reality for countless Americans. As you read this, 446 hospitals throughout America are at risk of either cutting services or shutting down completely. Yet Trump and the Senate Republicans made devastating cuts to America’s hospitals to help pay for a massive tax giveaway to billionaires.

THE VERDICT: Republican senators can’t be trusted with our healthcare.

The GOP’s attacks on Americans’ healthcare have been devastating, and this November, Americans can hold them accountable at the ballot box. We must elect a Democratic Senate that will defend our healthcare, stand up to Trump, and protect the Affordable Care Act.

But it won’t happen on its own. We’ll need to fight for it. With Republicans like Susan Collins, Dan Sullivan, and Jon Husted back on the ballot in November, it’s time we hold the GOP responsible -- and a donation of $20 to the DSCC can help make it happen.

Across the country, millions of Americans are paying more for their healthcare -- or being forced off their healthcare plans altogether -- because of Senate Republicans and the Trump administration’s attacks.

So today, we’re spotlighting three Senate Republicans and how their blatant attacks on healthcare have hurt the people in their states -- and why they’ll lose their seats this November because of it.

Before you keep reading, know that we’re already hard at work to send these three Republicans -- and more! -- packing and electing strong Democrats to take their place.

Susan Collins - Maine

Senator Susan Collins has record-low approval ratings among the Mainers she represents, and it’s not hard to see why. Right now, at least two Maine hospitals are at high risk of closing or cutting services. And Susan Collins greenlit those cuts.

She provided a key vote to advance the Republican plan that slashed Medicaid and will kick millions of Americans off their health insurance. Now, nearly 54,000 Mainers see rapidly increasing health insurance costs, and about 33,000 will lose coverage altogether.

As Trump’s cuts, policies, and chaos harm Mainers, Collins has enabled his agenda and Mainers are paying the price. In November, Maine voters will hold her accountable at the ballot box.

Jon Husted - Ohio

We’ll be blunt -- Senator Jon Husted has made life worse for Ohioans.

Husted voted for Medicaid cuts that have put at least nine Ohio hospitals at risk of closing. Now, Husted is insulting Ohioans who are having to pay more for their healthcare as a result of his devastating cuts.

Even as Husted ripped away healthcare coverage and caused insurance costs to skyrocket, he said, “People living in poverty are just not very experienced at navigating the real world.” He added that if Ohioans want to make life more affordable, they should just “earn more.”

Ohioans are paying more for healthcare, groceries, and gas as a direct result of Husted’s votes in DC. Ohioans will fire Husted in November and elect Sherrod Brown to guarantee they have a champion for working people representing them in the U.S. Senate.

Dan Sullivan - Alaska

Dan Sullivan is leaving Alaskans behind.

Alaskans already pay more for healthcare than most other states, with POLITICO reporting that “Alaska’s vast geography — with remote communities only reachable by plane, boat or snowmobile — makes health care in the state uniquely inaccessible and more expensive.”

But Senator Dan Sullivan is only making things worse.

Sullivan supported the toxic healthcare cuts that slashed Medicaid and will kick tens of thousands of Alaskans off their health insurance altogether. Nearly one-third of Alaskans rely on Medicaid for their healthcare -- and now Sullivan is betraying them by slashing healthcare funding and causing costs to skyrocket.

In November, Alaskans will make their voices heard and show Sullivan the door.

Final Thoughts

To solve this healthcare crisis, we must beat these Republicans at the ballot box this November.

Out-of-touch politicians like Collins, Husted, and Sullivan are beatable because voters see right through their lies and corruption. We need leaders who will work for everyday Americans, not billionaires and special interests.
