On Monday, September 21, 2026 between 8AM and 8PM ET

• Post your pitch as you'd post it during DVpit to get feedback from other DVpit hopefuls as well as our agented author volunteers!

• Use the #preDV hashtag in lieu of #DVpit (the same amount of characters, so it should still work when you use it for the main event!)

• This event is more casual than the formal #DVpit, so post as many pitch attempts as you'd like as long as you do not spam the feed.

• Feel free to chat with fellow hopefuls and make connections!

• Please do not tag anyone in your pitch

• Each #AskDV will last 1 hour, during that hour, ask your questions using the #AskDV hashtag.

• Please do not spam the feed, if your question isn’t answered immediately, the Literary Agents are going to be checking the feed the entire hour for questions.

• do not pitch your work to the agents during #AskDV or ask for help with perfecting a pitch (we will host another #preDV for pitch help before #DVpit)

• As with all #DVpit events, be respectful of your fellow participants and the participating publishing professionals. This is an entirely volunteer-run event and organization and they are donating their time to help and provide guidance.

Eric Smith. With over fifteen years of experience in publishing, both at a house and an agency, Eric Smith (he/him) has worked with numerous New York Times bestselling and award-winning authors across genres and categories.

Alexandra Levick (she/her) is a senior agent at Writers House representing award-winning and bestselling picture book, middle grade, young adult, and adult creators.

Michaela Whatnall is a literary agent with Dystel, Goderich & Bourret, representing books for readers of all ages with a specialty in YA. In 2023, Michaela was named a Publishers Weekly Star Watch Honoree.

Paula Weiman (they/them) is an agent at ASH Literary with a background in international literary scouting and educational publishing. They represent select speculative adult fiction and children’s literature of all stripes, with the goal of helping as many children as possible to see their experiences represented on the page.

Rebecca Podos (she/they) began her career as a literary agent in 2011, and is now Managing Partner and Senior Agent at Neighborhood Literary. She is also a Lambda-award winning author of Young Adult and Adult fiction.

Jim McCarthy is a Vice-President and Agent at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret, where he’s been for over 25 years. His list is focused on fiction for all ages, from picture book through adult.

Lauren E. Abramo is Vice President and Subsidiary Rights Director at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret, where she maintains a small client list of books across fiction and nonfiction.

Stuti Telidevara is an agent at Park, Fine & Brower representing adult, YA, and select middle grade commercial and genre fiction.

Rebecca Williamson is an Assistant Agent and Foreign Rights Manager at Sheldon Fogelman Agency. She previously interned at Triada US Literary Agency and St. Martin’s Publishing Group.

Sandra Proudman is a Latiné young adult author and literary agent representing a diverse list of illustrators and authors. Her sophomore novel, THE END OF US, is a dystopian romance out October 13th.

It is our hope that with a critique, you’ll be able to deliver even stronger submission materials to agents and editors who like your post. More than that, we hope that the extra insight will be helpful to creators as they continue to develop and improve their work beyond #DVpit.

TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY:
• Entrants must have a Bluesky account, with which they will repost (not quote-post) the giveaway post from our DVpit bluesky account

• AND separately reply to the giveaway post informing us of their category and genre for which they’d like a critique.
(Category is: PB, GN, MG, YA, Adult, etc.
Genre is: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance, Contemporary, Mystery, Non-Fiction, etc)

• Entries must be for completed, unpublished work.- Giveaway will close on Saturday (July 18, 2026) at 6PM ET- Winners will be notified via Bluesky DM with instructions on how to claim their critique. (Make sure you're following us so we can DM.)

• If we do not get a response via DM within 72 hours, the prize is forfeit to the next winner

Critiques will vary by donor: some offer query critiques, first five pages critiques, or submission package critiques (i.e. query letter plus first pages/chapter).

Winners are not able to choose a specific donor.
