Are you building more? Or are you building better?

Earlier this week, I recorded a podcast interview with Dr. Jengyu Lai, DPM. He created the Rochester Clinic, a family-owned medical practice that operates with a whole-person approach. (His episode on the Economy Creators podcast and radio show is coming up soon!) During our conversation, he shared an important distinction with me and our audience: There is a difference between longevity and vitality. Simply extending our years on earth does not mean that we are operating at a quality level, or that we are even in a position to truly enjoy those extra years. This brings up a good question:

That certainly makes sense in the realm of health. And that got me thinking about how often we believe that “more” is somehow “better.” And this raises another question: is more of something really what we are looking to create?

I have been studying and applying ’s book Endless Referrals (suggested to me by one of my Economy Creators podcast guests, Luke Jean-Louis). Inside the book, Burg shares with us the difference between exposure and positioning. (I wrote more about this this past Monday for KPHRED Radio. You can check out that article on LinkedIn here.)

Exposure asks: how many people are seeing this?

Positioning asks: do the people seeing this consider me an expert in my field?

As an economy creator, you can have thousands of impressions or views, but if you’re not positioned as an authority, those views and impressions won’t translate into something meaningful. You can be known for all the cute bunny posts, but those don’t necessarily translate into business. So how do we make that transition from content visibility to authority and credibility?

This is where the idea of content vs. assets takes shape. In last week’s letter, I talked about the importance of creating third-party visibility by creating authority assets that other people actually want to talk about on their platforms. It’s not enough for us to tell the world how great we are. That’s what content does. Content goes away (like all my cute bunny posts) in a fleeting social media second. Assets are evergreen authority pieces that build our credibility and reputation in our particular business.

The reason this distinction is important is because meaningful content should be extracted from and circling back to authority assets. If you have written a book, your content can be snippets or ideas (in the form of written posts, videos, images, etc. from inside that help your audience understand your message, then circle back to your book. The idea isn’t to have more content, but to have more meaningful content that points back to your larger message.

This distinction is important because now the question isn’t “how much did I post?” but “what did I build?” Let’s look at this in terms of your YOU-Shaped Economy.

As we make our way through the Clarity Builds this month, we identify all the things we want inside our economies—personal, professional, health, relationships, and more. Add whatever is important to you.

First we identify the economy we want. Then we build the assets that reflect it. Here are some questions to ask:

• Relationships: am I collecting contacts or building relationships?

• Personal development: am I consuming information or applying it?

• Business: am I staying busy or building something?

• Visibility: are people just seeing me or understanding what I stand for?

• Wealth: am I just earning or am I building an economy?

• Time: am I spending my time or am I investing it in what I truly want?

When we ask these questions, we begin noticing where we are spending in the “more” category rather than investing in the “better” category. I encourage you to simply notice this week what’s going on inside your economy. You may find that the places you want to improve could use a little bit more intentional and meaningful building to make them better.

A Book Worth Reading

The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles is one of my all-time favorite books. When I first became a Proctor Gallagher Consultant, I was introduced to this book by my mentor, Bob Proctor.

This seminal work has been a foundational work in personal development literature for over 100 years. Written early in the 20th century, it dives deep into the philosophies and principles of wealth creation. Its message, information, and exercises stand the test of time.

Learning about the power contained in my thoughts and the malleable “thinking stuff” all around us, has provided me with the confidence and direction to continue forward towards my goals. Wattles shares simple principles like “thinking in the certain way,” “acting in the certain way,” “gratitude,” and “the impression of increase” that, when applied, enhance the reader’s life in a deeply profound way.

In this episode of Economy Creators, Mary Reiss Farias sits down with Andre Alexander, the Freedom Architect, for a thought-provoking conversation about freedom, success, entrepreneurship, self-worth, relationships, and designing a business around the life you actually want to live.

Andre works with business owners and executives who have reached a point where success is costing more than they expected. His work helps them rethink and redesign the way they operate so their success supports their lives instead of consuming them.

Growing up in the Caribbean gave Andre a very different perspective on success.

His philosophy is simple but powerful:

Success is meant to be enjoyed now—not deferred to some mythical point in the future.

Andre challenges the conventional hustle culture that tells us to work harder, acquire more, remain constantly available, and hope that freedom and happiness will eventually appear as a result.

Instead, he asks a much more fundamental question:

What do you actually want from your life?

Mary and Andre explore how easily business owners can become trapped inside economies they created themselves. The business may be successful financially while demanding their time, draining their energy, affecting their health, or taking them away from the relationships and experiences that mattered in the first place.

Andre even challenges the familiar concept of “work-life balance.”

Why?

Because work still comes first in the phrase.

His alternative is **life first**.

Your career or business was supposed to help create your life. So when did the business become the thing around which everything else had to fit?

That question connects directly with the Economy Creators philosophy of intentionally building a YOU-Shaped Economy—one in which your business, work, relationships, health, interests, money, experiences, and personal growth support the person you want to become and the life you want to create.

In this episode, Mary and Andre explore:

• Why freedom is ultimately a choice
• How hustle culture can quietly consume the life you're building
• Why success should be enjoyed now rather than someday
• The difference between work-life balance and a life-first philosophy
• Why being constantly available isn't necessarily a sign of success
• How business can affect your relationships, health, energy, and ability to lead
• Why self-worth influences what you're willing to tolerate
• The importance of asking what you genuinely want from life
• Why awareness alone isn't enough—you eventually have to make a decision
• Andre's ARIS process for recognizing and creating change
• Why changing your results requires changing the way you think
• How relationships, referrals, conversations, and other people help build our economies
• Why entrepreneurs don't have to do everything alone
• How Andre transformed real conversations into his book, *Freedom Conversations*
• Why success should support your life rather than consume it

Andre also explains that creating freedom involves working on two sides simultaneously: the individual and the business.

You can have a well-run business, but if you're exhausted, burned out, disconnected, or struggling personally, your capacity to lead suffers.

Likewise, you can work extensively on yourself, but if you've built a business that requires everything to continually flow through you, the structure itself will keep draining you.

Freedom requires intentionally examining both.

And perhaps most importantly, it requires ownership.

You can recognize that something needs to change. You can know what you want. But eventually, you have to decide whether you're willing to create it.

As Andre reminds us:

“Freedom is a choice.”

And:

“Success should support the life that you want rather than consume it.”

That is the heart of creatin

I don’t know about you, but when I first began in this online business world of social media, posting, likes, and impressions, I found myself posting for posting’s sake. However, I noticed very quickly that likes and impressions didn’t translate very well into book sales or clients (I’m not sure that it even really translated into friends…).

So, how do we make all this work in the sea of posts (regardless of the platform)?

Stop pitch-dumping.

Have you ever gotten a phone call, an email, or direct message (on any platform) from someone selling something to you who is just regurgitating the sales sheet? Remember how you felt in that moment? Well, this is how just about everyone feels when pitch-dumping happens to them.

I know; cold-calling and cold-DMing are sales tactics. But they don’t always feel good for either the pitcher or the receiver. What feels better?

Talking about someone else.

What I have found is that when I start talking about other people, whether it’s to recommend someone’s book, interview someone, feature them, introduce two people who I think would be good collaborators, or tell my audience about someone else worth knowing, a couple of things happen:

1. I feel good.
   I no longer feel like I’m constantly selling myself. I feel like I am telling the world about a bunch of other cool people. (Think Miracle on 34th Street.)

2. Other people feel good.
   People like to be recognized for a job well-done. (Don’t you?)

And here’s the twist: when I mention other people, I am building their third-party credibility.

When an author says, “My book is awesome!”

The world thinks, “Of course you think so; you wrote it.”

But when someone else reviews an author’s book and describes why it’s worth reading, then we’re moving into proof from outside the author.

When a coach or a consultant says, “I’m an expert.”

The world thinks, “Of course you say that; you want more clients.”

But when someone interviews them about their background, their expertise, and features their ideas in some type of publication, then someone else has highlighted their work as worthy of attention.

This is what is known as third-party credibility.

And what’s great about this type of credibility is that it doesn’t require you to be featured in a major publication or on a major platform for it to work for you. It works when you’re the guest on a podcast, a YouTube channel, inside a book review, or just a thoughtful recommendation. Each time someone else mentions you, it grows your digital footprint in a meaningful way.

A social media post tends to go away and gets forgotten. Sometimes your best friends don’t even see it in their feed, or maybe it shows up a week later after your event even takes place. (I have definitely had this happen to me.)

A third-party media asset has a much longer life. Let’s say you’re interviewed on a podcast. This one-time appearance can become more than a one-and-done event. It can become:

• Podcast episode

• YouTube video

• Show notes/transcript

• Search result

• Social media posts/shorts

• Website media page

• Speaker bio

• Visibility Portfolio asset

• Ongoing discoverability

Through one podcast feature, you are building evidence that accumulates over time and online space.

It’s not that one interview, article, book review, or feature is necessarily transformational, it’s that 20 pieces of content that mention you and/or your work tells a greater story about you.

People begin to take notice. They see that other people know you, think you’re interesting, like you, and trust you. They begin to wonder if you should be in their world too.

This is a true asset—and much more powerful that you telling your Facebook friends about how great you are.

Your visibility becomes much more powerful when it spreads beyond the platforms that you control yourself.

Yes, your website matters. Your social media matters. Your newsletter matters. But they only tell your side of the story. Let others in your world tell their side.

Wallace D. Wattles in his incredible little book The Science of Getting Rich, tells us about the “Impression of Increase.” As human beings (not just Economy Creators), we want to create increase for other people. Again, it just feels better. And this is by design.

When we make the world a better place for another person, we automatically make it a better place for ourselves. It’s Universal Law.

Think about this: when you smile at someone, it just feels good, doesn’t it? And when they smile back, it feels even better!

This is an example of the Law at work. And it doesn’t just work for smiles. It works in every facet of life: relationships, health, business, you name it.

So start building your third-party visibility by first expanding the visibility for someone else. See how it begins to make a difference first in how you feel and how you show up, and secondly in how other people feel around you and how they show up for you.

I think you will soon begin to see the value in talking about other people.

A Book Worth Reading

Luke Jean-Louis is an author, life coach, speaker, singer, voice actor and host of The Deep Voice Man Show podcast. I had the pleasure of being a guest on his show earlier this year, and he was also a guest on my Economy Creators podcast.

As you can see by the list of things Luke does, he is a true economy creator. One of the things that really resonates with me about him is that he is a published author—and he keeps on writing!

His book, Life Lessons From The Deep Voice Man, is a part of his Introverts’ Fluff-Free series, and offers practical tips and life lessons to help just about any person move forward in personal development in a, well, “fluff-free” way.

Inside, Luke simplifies sometimes hard-to-understand self-help concepts into digestible and actionable steps. He teaches how to visualize by seeing your life as a movie—a very effective way to add a visualization practice to your day. I especially like his 3 P’s when it comes to success:

1. People, through support networks

2. Productivity, taking consistent action

3. Personality, traits like grit and confidence

Luke finishes with sharing the value of coaching and personal development. He tells his readers that not only does coaching accelerate results, but even coaches have coaches and mentors. This book takes readers through many helpful suggestions to get started thinking more positively and take aim at the success they want in their lives.

Part three of the August workshop is about allowing yourself to dream and to listen to those desires that have been pulling at you perhaps your entire life. One of the most beautiful things that happened during the workshop is that participants began voicing their desires out loud, and the group resounded with applause and encouragement. Having the courage to acknowledge and voice your desires is powerful. may you have the courage to share yours.

• Feature them in your newsletter

• Invite them onto your podcast

• Record a short video about their work

Then send it to them—no pitch involved—just let them know that you appreciate them and their work.

Your brand is the entire experience people have with you and your business—before they work with you, while they work with you, and even after the relationship ends.

That makes clarity essential.

When your message, positioning, visuals, values, and audience experience work together, people can more easily understand who you are, what you do, and why your work matters.

Mary and Ale also explore an increasingly important question for entrepreneurs: What role should AI play in building your brand?

Ale isn't anti-AI. In fact, she sees it as an incredible tool. But a tool still needs human creativity, emotion, judgment, strategy, and input.

When everyone uses the same tools to generate the same kinds of graphics, language, and marketing, businesses risk becoming interchangeable.

And ultimately, AI isn't buying your products or hiring you.

Human beings are.

This is the exact process I take myself through as an author when I am writing a book, as a publisher when I am creating a production timeline, and anywhere else inside my economy when I am building something of significance.

This process allows me to get everything out of my mind and onto paper in an organized fashion so that I keep myself on track without overwhelming myself. Creating a timeline allows me to see wheat I need to focus on next, and oftentimes more importantly, what I don’t need to focus on in the moment.

Don’t Pull Away When You Need It Most…

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had conversations with people who have been going through some difficult times, whether personally, professionally, financially, emotionally, or simply just dealing with unexpected life happenings. And I noticed something:

When life started getting hard, they pulled away from the very things that had been helping them.

They began stepping away from the personal development material that bolsters their belief system, not showing up for accountability check-ins, avoiding the supportive people in their lives. They skipped the masterminds, interacting with the community, routines, or practices that were actually designed to strengthen them.

This observation was a major topic of discussion during this Wednesday’s Economy Creators Mastermind call.

The Paradox
When life is going well, it’s easy to show up. Personal development books and materials seem like natural options for our down time. It’s fun to show up for the mastermind and share our wins with the group. Working on our goals feels good when we can see the progress each day. It’s fun to speak with other people who are making it happen. Building our business feels doable and expansive. Investing in ourselves feels like the next logical step.

But all these things aren’t only helpful when things are working well. In fact, I believe they’re even more valuable when things start heading south.

The Economy Creators Mastermind isn’t just a place to celebrate wins. Having a supportive community around us isn't just for people who have everything moving together in the right direction. And certainly, personal development material isn’t just for when we are feeling the motivation in our personal lives. In fact, these are resources that we need to habitually build into our economies so that they are there when we need them the most.

Trying to Go It Alone
A few years ago, I was studying and asked myself, “Why isn’t this working? Why am I not further along than this?” Then the humbling answer entered my mind: “Mary, you are not masterminding.”

I couldn’t argue with that answer; it was true. My whole life’s history was full of my desire to prove that I could do things on my own. I was by far the youngest of 11 children; almost like an only child. I was a gymnast, the member of a very independent sport. I was the highest level in my gym for many years, pushing and motivating myself often. I was extremely focused on my sport and made many isolating decisions that my classmates chose not to make. My dad was very sick when I was in high school, and I spent a lot of time home alone, doing my own cooking, laundry, and driving.

I was conditioned to rely on myself; letting people in wasn’t in my programming.

So I completely understand it when people tell themselves, “I can figure this out myself.” I get not wanting to share a vulnerability with another person, let alone a group. I see the justification in thinking that they don’t have anything positive to contribute to others at the moment.

BUT

I have personally seen that isolation can give the problem way more energy than it needs. In fact, when we sit and think about the problem, we are actually giving it life.

The Value of the Mastermind
According to Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich, the mastermind is "the coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose."

When Economy Creators come together all with the intention to help one another move forward in their economies, something magical happens. As Hill shares, "no two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind."

With the mastermind, no one has to rely on themselves for all the answers. What I see time and time again in my own mastermind relationships and inside the mastermind groups that I lead, perceptions shift and ideas expand at an exponential rate.

Mastermind partners help one another identify potential that we cannot see in ourselves. They can challenge our assumptions and introduce new possibilities. They can connect us with others they know who can help us. And certainly, they support and encourage.

Being a part of an environment that reminds us that we don’t need to figure out everything on our own and where possibility is front and center is vital to our progress. This is what the Economy Creators Community is designed to do. But whether you find this connection inside the Economy Creators Community or inside another mastermind, I encourage you to seek opportunities to share your thoughts, ideas, struggles, and goals. Whatever you choose to do, building a supportive system around you before you need it is key to continued growth.

A Book Worth Reading

If you have read Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, you might understand how I felt the first time I picked it up, started reading, closed it again, and put it back on the shelf to gather dust.

It wasn’t until a few years later, after I was immersed in Bob Proctor’s teaching, that I dusted the book off and began reading again, this time with an awareness that allowed me to keep reading. But even though I knew the book had merit, I saw how it needed to be taught, not just read. Napoleon Hill shares incredible methods to get the results we are looking to achieve in our lives. But he makes it very clear: the result we are looking for can only be achieved when we apply the information.

What would change if you stopped building your life around what you were supposed to do—and started building it around what you actually wanted?

In this episode of Economy Creators™, Mary Farias sits down with Denmark-based entrepreneur Rebecca Olsen for a conversation about family, freedom, entrepreneurship, wealth, personal development and becoming what Rebecca calls the CEO of your own life.

Rebecca grew up believing there was one responsible path: get a good education, find a good job and build a secure life.

Then, at 28, she unexpectedly lost her mother. Time seemed to stop—and Rebecca found herself asking a much bigger question:

How am I actually using the time I have to live?

That question changed the trajectory of her life. Later, motherhood brought another wake-up call. After returning to work, Rebecca picked up her young daughter from daycare and suddenly realized how much of her daughter's life was happening without her. She made a decision: she wanted to build her life around her family—not fit her family into the leftover spaces of her career.

In this conversation, Mary and Rebecca explore:

• How conditioning and paradigms can quietly pull us back into lives we've consciously decided we don't want
• Why asking "What do I really want?" can feel surprisingly vulnerable
• Learning to listen to your inner voice
• The difference between constantly doing and learning to be
• Why stress isn't necessarily evidence that you're accomplishing something
• Moving from trying to avoid problems to becoming open to possibilities

One of the most powerful ideas in the conversation is Rebecca's evolution from carefully planning everything to becoming more open to possibilities she couldn't have anticipated.

She compares it to ordering at a restaurant: you decide what you want, place the order—and then allow the kitchen to prepare it. You don't follow the waiter into the kitchen and micromanage every step.

It's a beautiful metaphor for learning to clearly define what you want while releasing the need to control exactly how it arrives.

Today, Rebecca and her husband intentionally build their lives together. They study personal development, discuss their dreams, align around how they want to raise their three children, build businesses and invest with the goal of creating freedom that isn't dependent solely on their labor.

And Rebecca's vision is expanding beyond her own family.

She shares her desire to help people—particularly those she's connected with in Latin America—recognize new possibilities for entrepreneurship, economic opportunity and self-sufficiency.

At the heart of it all is a deceptively simple idea:

Your life doesn't have to look like everyone else's. You can decide what matters to you. You can question the conditioning you inherited. You can define wealth and success differently. And you can intentionally create an economy that supports the life you actually want to live.

Magic happens when we show up…

We are a week into August, and what a fulfilling week it has been! My daughter started her junior year of high school—she’s homeschooled, so her mom started her junior year of high school too! 😊

The Economy Creators Community officially launched this week, and we have a wonderful founding group of members. We had our first weekly mastermind together on Wednesday, and members shared what they’re working on and supported one another (learn more here).

And since it’s the first week of the month, I also hosted our Economy Creators Workshop. This monthly free workshop was the perfect way to welcome the community together.

August’s Theme: Clarity
Each month’s workshop has its own theme that matches what we are talking about here inside Economy Creators, and what we are applying inside the Community. August is all about clarity. Before we can intentionally build our YOU-Shaped Economy, we need to understand a few important things:

• Where were currently are and what we already have
  Bob Proctor suggests we notice our current results in three main areas: health, happiness, and wealth.

• What we truly desire
  Listening to our deepest desires is the key to living our life to its fullest.

• Where we’re going
  Deciding what it is we want to pursue and where we want to end up is key.

• What to build first
  We must focus our attention; what we focus on grows.

Here’s What Happened During the Workshop…
We opened the workshop by introducing ourselves. There were some new faces and some familiar ones. By the time we shared who were are and what we’re creating, the support for one another grew from there. People felt comfortable enough to share some of the dreams they have been carrying. They were heard by the group, and supported in their aims. Participants asked questions. They gained clarity. They offered ideas and connected one another with valuable resources. They spoke of collaborations. They truly supported one another. It was a beautiful mastermind group!

It was especially powerful when the group rallied around one of the participants who couldn’t initially identify their current economy. But once they were encouraged by the group, they found that they really had a lot going for them! Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to help us see what’s right in front of our nose.

That is the power of community.

Building your YOU-Shaped Economy doesn’t need to happen in isolation. In fact, I would venture to say that it can’t happen in isolation. An economy requires circulation. It requires movement. It requires others.

Sometimes we need to hear an encouraging word, a story of past experience, a deeper conversation, a different perspective, or a new introduction. And we cannot give these things to ourselves. Bob Proctor once said something like,

• What is it that I already have?

• What is it that I truly want?

• What is something that I want that I have been scared to say out loud?

I first met Rian when I was a fledgling Proctor Gallagher Consultant teaching You Were Born Rich in a mutual Facebook group. Since then, he has been a dedicated Bob Proctor protégé and has remained an integral part of Magnet Mind and our former Magnet 30 community.

Rian is now a co-author inside the Economy Creators Anthology coming out in December 2026, writing about his experiences escaping the rat race of the nine-to-five life and becoming his own boss. While it hasn’t always been easy, having his freedom and following his passion is important to him.

What happens when your greatest heartbreak reveals your greatest purpose?

In this heartfelt episode of Economy Creators™, Mary Farias sits down with Ludie Hansen, a speech-language pathologist with more than 35 years of experience, who is preparing to retire from clinical practice to focus on a new mission: supporting dementia caregivers through innovative technology, education, and community.

Ludie's journey wasn't one she planned.

After losing her job while helping her daughter through breast cancer treatment, she experienced anxiety, loss of identity, and uncertainty about what came next. During that same season, she became a caregiver for both of her parents, losing them just sixteen days apart. But beyond school starting, August marks an important milestone in the Economy Creators ecosystem: The Economy Creators Community officially begins! I want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of this movement from the beginning.

A New Chapter

This new Economy Creators Community has been something months in the making. Everything started in November 2025 with my decision to deliver one workshop a month for the next year. As I played with the thought in my mind, (with Bob Proctor’s help) I came up with the concept of Economy Creators.

This quickly evolved beyond a monthly workshop to a podcast and radio show on KPHRED Radio, an anthology (the first volume to be published in December 2026), clarity in the services I offer through both of my businesses (IrisBlu Publishing and Magnet Mind Development), and a new podcast and radio show on KPHRED Radio with my co-host called The Author’s Blueprint and a new book entitled The Author Economy.

Phew! A lot has happened in the last eight months!

Here is what’s going on behind the scenes in the paid community. Members have begun with Build #1. What this means is that they are actually creating their first asset. They’re not watching another video, not consuming more information. Instead, they’re rolling up their sleeves and getting to work building.

Build #1: Understand Your Current Economy

Before we can decide where we want to go and get there in an effective way, we first must identify where it is we are. Bob Proctor teaches us that we need to examine our current results in Health, Happiness, and Wealth. By taking inventory of where we are and what we’re doing, we can best choose where to go next.

This month’s theme is clarity. We want to get clear on where we are, know where we want to go, bring order to our ideas, and get started moving forward. So we need to begin asking ourselves some important questions:

• What do I truly want?

I had a conversation this week that really struck me…

During this week’s final Magnet 30 mastermind call, one of our members shared with the group that they had to postpone their upcoming month-long offer due to lack of interest. As we chatted, something became increasingly clear:

None of us knew enough about the event to help.

As a group, we didn’t know exactly who it was for (so we couldn’t refer possible attendees), when it was taking place, what problem it solved, the benefits that attendees would gain, or even where to send people if they were interested.

But here’s the thing: as the event organizer, they believed they had shared about it quite a bit.

The lesson here is that as economy creators, entrepreneurs, and authors, we live with our businesses and books every minute of every day. We are constantly thinking about our offers. And we also assume that everyone else is paying the same level of attention.

They’re not.

That might sting a bit, but it’s true. Other people are paying attention to themselves—their businesses, their books, their offerings, their lives. They’re not thinking about you.

But don’t worry; they’re not thinking about me, either!

No matter how supportive the people around you, even your best friend can’t refer others to you if they don’t understand what it is you’re offering. One of the greatest gifts another economy creator can give someone is a business referral. But they do need information in order to do that. If people aren’t clear, they will stay quiet. And it’s not because they don’t want to help, it’s simply because they don’t know how.

The beauty is, however, that your community wants to support you! This is what I have found: the people around you truly do want to see you thrive. And armed with clarity and information, a community becomes one another’s extended sales force.

So, how do you help your community help you?

Share! Share what you’re creating (while you’re creating it!). I tell this to the authors I’m working with. And it doesn’t just help with book discovery; it helps with everything we’re creating! Share who you’re looking to connect with. Share what you’re launching. Share what success looks like to you, how many people you’re looking to serve, and how many people you’ve welcomed in so far. Share how your community can help you.

We don’t share for shameless self-promotion; we share so others are equipped to help us in the way they want to help. Every update we provide our community gives them another way they can help their network by referring you. If you truly believe in what it is you’re creating, then you will want to be a resource for your community to share it with their network. Don’t you feel good when you’re able to refer a friend to help another friend? That is what we’re building.

This is exactly what I’m looking to create for our members inside the Economy Creators Community. It is a place where we have the opportunity to know one another and one another’s businesses well enough to make meaningful introductions, share helpful opportunities, celebrate each other’s wins, mastermind solutions and next steps, and become one another’s advocates.

The better you know your network, the better you’re able to help your network. And the better your network knows you and what’s coming up in your business, the better your network can help their network by referring you.

Here’s your challenge. Ask yourself:

• Do the people around me know what I’m building?

• Can the people in my network explain what I’m offering?

• Do they know who my ideal client is?

• Do they know how I help my clients?

• Have I made it easy for them to help their network by referring me?

If the answer is “no” to any of these questions, don’t assume they’re paying attention. Give them the information that they need to be your biggest supporters—because they want to be!

I had the pleasure of meeting Lynn last year when we were on a Monday morning networking call together with a mutual friend. Lynn asked incredible questions. She made the people she was speaking to feel important, like the answers to the questions she asked really mattered.

And you know what? To Lynn, they are, and they do.

What’s more, after getting to know her, I found Lynn to be not only one of the most interested people I have ever met, but she is also one of the most interesting. Although she spends her time sharing people with people (she is the absolute more thoughtful connector of people I have ever met), but she is also hosts a live networking radio show on KPHRED Radio () each Thursday which helps people connect with one another.

As I mentioned, Lynn is one of the most interesting people I have ever met, and when she begins telling her story, you find that she gets even more interesting. I’ve had the privilege to interview Lynn on the Economy Creators radio show and podcast, and she shares a bit of her story there. A Book Worth Reading

Last week, I featured Brian P. Swift, J.D. as our featured creator. I mentioned that he is the author of 11 books, four of the Amazon bestsellers. His latest book, Developing True Grit (available on Amazon), provides people not only with inspiration from “The Quadfather,” but it also provides actionable steps that you can actually follow to increase your mental toughness, self-discipline, and resilience in the face of adversity.

The rest of the book provides insights from his own remarkable experiences and from those of others he has interviewed along the way. Brian’s take is that no one is coming to save you; you have got to develop the character you need to live the life you want—and it’s not always easy.

Brian’s candor and conversational voice throughout the book make it feel like you’re in the room with him as he shares, step-by-step, the roadmap to developing grit. This book is definitely a book worth reading.

Workshop Highlight

One of the misnomers around becoming an entrepreneur and an economy creator is that the more we do, the better our economy will be. What I have found is that the concept of “productivity” is not about doing more. It is about being more intentional about what we’re doing and ensuring that the things that we are looking to create fit into the economy and the life we want to live.

Barbara said something profound that we all need to contemplate:

“Some people have never given themselves permission to do what they’re called to do.”

Let’s sit with that for a moment.

So many of us have spent so many years doing what other people have said is the “next right step” by graduating college, getting a job, getting married, raising kids, buying a house, etc. But have we really stopped to ask ourselves “is this what I want"?” Or what’s more, have we ever asked ourselves,

We get tied up in doing what others expect us to do. We do the logical, the practical, the things that our parents did.

But what is we get quiet enough from performing the daily trivia and ask, “is this what I’m here to do?”

Barbara is an example of taking the time to examine her life’s work and, despite success as a computer programmer, listening to her inner guide and following a deeper purpose. Now, she has trained thousands of life coaches and has spread her message so much further than ever through each one of them.

What I love about interviewing Economy Creators like Barbara is that I begin to see threads that connect these remarkable people through their stories. Today, I see that nothing about the economy that they are creating is random. The economy is simply an outgrowth of who they have become throughout their life’s journey. With each step forward in courage, their self-image expands to encompass more and more possibility, expanding their economy in the process.

What I have found is that when we expand, we become more fully ourselves. And when we do that, our YOU-shaped economy begins to form itself around us. It’s not just about starting a business or earning more money. It’s about alignment with who we really are. And when that happens, opportunities, resources, and people begin showing up that we couldn’t have planned.

Barbara is a prime example of this. She listened to her inner guidance—and she had the courage to follow it.

What are you building?

I invite you to really think about this question. It is very different than “what are you working on? or what’s on your to-do list? Are the things you’re working on and the things on your to-do list building something? Or are they just busy work?

As I continue forward with Economy Creators, I have noticed something vitally important about the process: everything I do is moving toward and connected to something larger. This means that everything inside my economy feeds other pieces. And each day, I am focused on building assets that will last longer than the day (or the hour) that they’re posted.

You see, everything that we are doing is either building something, or it isn’t. For instance, the thoughts I am thinking are either building my ideal self-image, or they’re not. The posts that I create are either building my authority, or they’re not. The meetings I’m in, the emails and messages I send are either building my relationships, or they’re not. The book I’m reading is either building my habits or it’s not.

And what this really comes down to is making a decision about the economy that I am building and what my role is in creating it.

Most people fall into the trap of reading another book, listening to another podcast, taking another course, gathering more information, but not implementing it.

Don’t get me wrong; learning is essential. But as Napoleon Hill says,

We take implementation seriously inside the Economy Creators Community. Taking action on what we’re learning, hearing, and gathering is key to moving forward. In fact, this is the only way results are attained: taking action.

Building requires taking action. I suggest taking a small step:

• write one page

• create one video

• deepen a meaningful relationship

• reinforce one new habit

• make one decision

And economy isn’t built overnight. It’s built on one decision, followed by one action, at a time. And when we take consistent intentional actions, momentum builds. Economies are built on momentum.

So, I ask again: what are you building?

Brian P. Swift, JD

Brian was someone that I just knew I had to meet. I first noticed Brian in my fellow KPHRED Radio show host, and all-around incredible person, Lynn Lionhood’s, networking group. There was something about him that shouted to me, “Mary, reach out to him!”

So I listened to the shouting nudge my intuition gave me and I sent him a message. Needless to say, Brian responded, and he and I have maintained contact ever since. But we haven’t just “maintained contact.” From day one, Brian has been kind, giving, and helpful. He is real, authentic, and encouraging.

He is also a true Economy Creator. Brian is the author of 11 books. He is the founder of SOAR—a nonprofit dedicated to creating accessible, outdoor, recreational opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities. He has the Breaking Barriers Podcast. He spent over 20 years in corporate training, sales, and marketing. He has his Juris Doctor degree from DePaul College of Law. By anyone’s standards, he han incredible economy swirling around him. But there’s more.

In 1979, at age 17, Brian P. Swift became a C5/6 quadriplegic after a football injury.

In knowing Brian, I think the most remarkable thing about him is that he sees his injury and life in a wheelchair as “a thing,” and not “the thing.” He far from allows his quadriplegia to define him, and he teaches others to move beyond their paralysis (physical or mental) and life their life to the fullest.

I am honored that Brian “The Quadfather,” has agreed to be a co-author in the upcoming Economy Creators Anthology, due out in December 2026. I highly suggest that you get to know him. He is phenomenal.

When she’s not riding Crush, she is teaching art to the kiddos at St. Michaels School down the street from my house.

I met late last year when Lynn Lionhood suggested that I start a radio show. As the fearless leader of KPHRED Radio, Fred was integral in getting me started with the Economy Creators podcast and radio show. He walked me through the process of setting it up, helping me get it on the air and broadcast worldwide from day one.

A Book Worth Reading

, who just so happens to be my co-host on our upcoming Author’s Blueprint show on KPHRED Radio, is also a writer and a publisher. In 2025 she published her long-awaited book, Awakening to Divine Purpose: A Guide Through the Six Stages of Spiritual Transformation.

What I love about this book is that inside Barbara blends spirituality and practical tools to help the reader make the mindset shifts and take the actions they need to facilitate the growth they’re looking for.

One of the things that Barbara teaches the reader to do is to test the Universal Laws that she describes. She shares that these truths are here, but they only way we can truly begin to accept them is to try them out. And she shows us how to do it. Essentially, she teaches us to prove them for ourselves and to believe them.

This is how she begins the Introduction:

This really sets the stage for the rest of the book. She takes us, step-by-step through the process of spiritual awakening, helping us to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Workshop Highlight

The only time we truly have is NOW. We can’t change the past, and we can’t act in the future. So every moment is an opportunity to prove to ourselves and to the world who we are.

Whatever circumstance that presents itself in our world (and it can be as simple as a dog wagging its tail), is an opportunity for us to prove who we will be in that moment. And who we are in that moment determines what comes next.

Every moment is a defining moment.
