XRP has reclaimed the $1.40 level as I write this, but the chart is not the most important development taking place right now.

What matters far more is what some of the largest institutions in the world are building behind the scenes.

BlackRock has made its position on tokenization increasingly clear. Ripple has expanded far beyond cross-border payments and entered institutional prime brokerage. Real-world assets are moving on-chain, markets are gradually becoming available 24 hours a day, and the infrastructure required to connect all of this is being assembled in real time.

This is where XRP becomes extremely interesting.

A Former BlackRock Executive Speaks About XRP

A former BlackRock managing director recently discussed the prospects of XRP and Ripple, arguing that institutional adoption could ultimately make the ecosystem successful.

His point was simple but important: Ripple does not need to capture the entire financial market—or even the majority of it—to become an enormously successful company.

The market Ripple is targeting is so vast that securing even a relatively small share could represent tremendous value. International payments, foreign exchange, tokenized securities, institutional liquidity and settlement are all multitrillion-dollar markets.

Retail investors frequently struggle to comprehend the scale involved. They debate whether XRP must replace SWIFT completely or dominate every financial institution on Earth. That is not necessary.

If major banks, asset managers, payment companies and trading institutions adopt Ripple’s infrastructure in any meaningful capacity, the addressable market is already enormous.

We should also be precise: the comments of a former BlackRock executive are not an official BlackRock endorsement of XRP. Nevertheless, it is significant to hear someone with experience inside the world’s largest asset manager openly recognize the potential institutional case for Ripple and XRP.

BlackRock’s Tokenization Ambition

BlackRock is the world’s largest asset-management company, investing trillions of dollars on behalf of individuals, institutions and governments.

That is why its increasingly public support for tokenization matters.

Commentary circulating in the market has attributed to BlackRock CFO Martin Small an aggressive timeline for tokenizing the firm’s ETF products. Whether every ETF ultimately moves on-chain within that precise window remains to be independently confirmed by BlackRock, but the broader direction is undeniable.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink has repeatedly described tokenization as the next evolution of financial markets. BlackRock’s own research explains that tokenization can allow ownership or economic exposure to assets to be programmed, traded, settled and recorded on blockchain infrastructure. Fink has also discussed the tokenization of assets ranging from equities and bonds to real estate.

This is no longer a theoretical conversation restricted to cryptocurrency enthusiasts. The largest asset manager in the world is openly discussing blockchain as new infrastructure for traditional finance.

If BlackRock eventually tokenizes a meaningful portion of its ETF business, it would represent a monumental shift. Traditional investment products would begin operating through blockchain-based rails, potentially improving their programmability, accessibility and settlement.

That does not mean trillions of dollars would instantly flow into XRP. It means something more fundamental: blockchain would move from being treated primarily as a speculative market to becoming part of the plumbing of global finance.

Tokenized Markets Need More Than Tokens

It is easy to become distracted by the word “tokenization.” Creating a digital representation of an ETF, bond, treasury instrument or property is only the first step.

The more important question is how all these assets will move, trade and settle across different institutions and networks.

Tokenized markets will require:

• Fast and reliable settlement

• Extremely low transaction costs

• Deep institutional liquidity

• Interoperability between different networks

• Secure custody and risk management

• Efficient movement between tokenized assets and fiat currencies

• Infrastructure capable of operating continuously

This is not a market designed for slow, expensive or unpredictable transactions. Institutions cannot afford to wait hours for settlement whenever a network becomes congested. They require infrastructure that is dependable at scale.

The XRP Ledger was designed around many of these requirements. It offers rapid settlement, low transaction costs, a built-in decentralized exchange and the ability to issue and transfer tokenized assets.

Most importantly, XRP was designed to function as a neutral bridge asset.

As more assets and financial networks move on-chain, fragmentation may become one of the industry’s greatest problems. There will not necessarily be one blockchain, one stablecoin or one tokenized marketplace. There may be thousands of separate pools of value that need to communicate and exchange liquidity.

XRP could become one of the bridges connecting them.

Ripple Prime Changes the XRP Conversation

For years, the market treated Ripple almost exclusively as a cross-border payments company.

That description is now outdated.

Following its acquisition of Hidden Road, Ripple launched Ripple Prime, a global multi-asset prime-brokerage platform for institutional clients. Its services extend across digital assets, foreign exchange, derivatives, swaps and fixed income.

Prime brokers form part of the core infrastructure of traditional markets. They provide institutions with access to multiple products, trading venues, liquidity sources and balance sheets while consolidating execution, margin and risk management.

As real-world assets and financial products move on-chain, prime brokers will have to connect traditional markets with digital venues. Treasury management, collateral, liquidity and risk systems will need to function in an environment that never closes.

Ripple Prime is being built directly for that transition.

This places Ripple in a far larger position than many XRP holders realize. The company is no longer attempting merely to improve a cross-border payment. It is building an institutional layer through which professional investors can access and manage activity across traditional and digital markets.

Through Ripple Prime, XRP could potentially serve as a liquidity and settlement asset connecting institutional trading with the growing tokenized economy. RLUSD may also play an important role as stable collateral and settlement liquidity inside Ripple’s expanding financial ecosystem.

The exact level of XRP usage will depend on product design, regulation and institutional demand; Ripple Prime’s success alone does not guarantee that every transaction will use XRP. But the strategic alignment is clear: Ripple now controls infrastructure positioned at the point where traditional finance, crypto liquidity and on-chain markets converge.

XRP Is Becoming Financial Infrastructure

One of the greatest misconceptions in cryptocurrency is that XRP remains only a cross-border payments token.

The opportunity is becoming considerably larger.

If ETFs, bonds, equities, currencies and real-world assets move on-chain, institutions will need unified access to custody, credit, liquidity, collateral, execution and near-instant settlement.

Ripple is assembling these components:

• Ripple Payments for international value transfer

• Ripple Custody for institutional asset management

• RLUSD for stablecoin liquidity

• The XRP Ledger for tokenization and settlement

• Ripple Prime for institutional trading and capital efficiency

• XRP as a potential neutral bridge between fragmented assets and markets

This is not proof that BlackRock will select the XRP Ledger or use XRP directly. No such partnership has been officially announced.

However, BlackRock’s tokenization agenda validates the direction Ripple has pursued for more than a decade. The financial system is moving toward digital ownership, continuous markets and blockchain-based settlement—the exact environment in which Ripple’s infrastructure was designed to operate.

Why I Am Watching Institutions, Not Just the Chart

Short-term price action can easily distract investors from structural change.

XRP may rise, retrace or remain volatile. None of that changes the fact that institutional finance is moving steadily toward tokenized assets and blockchain-based infrastructure.

BlackRock is publicly championing tokenization. Ripple has built a global prime broker. Institutional liquidity is entering digital markets. Real-world assets are being issued on-chain. The boundaries separating traditional finance from cryptocurrency are beginning to disappear.

This could therefore be one of the worst possible moments to evaluate XRP exclusively through a short-term chart.

I am watching where institutional capital is moving, what infrastructure is being built and which assets are positioned to connect the new system.

The tokenization race is accelerating.

XRP does not need to control the entire financial system to succeed. It only needs to become useful infrastructure within a market measured in trillions of dollars.

And that possibility is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

The important connection is that Volante Technologies—a Ripple-integrated payments provider—is also a certified FedNow service provider. This creates a technological bridge between Ripple-compatible infrastructure and the Federal Reserve’s instant-payment network.

That does not mean the Federal Reserve has officially adopted XRP. However, it demonstrates that Ripple-related technology can coexist with—and potentially connect to—the same infrastructure being used by American financial institutions.

This is how adoption normally happens: not through one dramatic announcement, but through layers of integration, service providers and interoperable payment rails quietly connecting behind the scenes.

If XRP ultimately serves as a neutral bridge asset between banks, currencies, stablecoins and settlement networks, connections like this could become extremely important.

The financial system is being rebuilt in real time and XRP appears increasingly positioned near the infrastructure connecting it.

XRP has delivered its strongest price movement in months, outperforming much of the cryptocurrency market as trading volume returned and sentiment improved. The speed of the recovery has already changed the conversation from whether XRP could collapse toward $0.70 to whether it will ever trade below $1 again. Neither question can be answered by looking at a single green candle, because price alone does not reveal whether demand is sustainable, whether financial institutions are accumulating, or whether the broader market has entered a lasting recovery. To reach a reasonable conclusion, we must examine what was happening before the rally, what changed beneath the surface, and which price level would confirm that XRP has genuinely escaped the bear market.

For months, I remained extremely cautious about XRP’s price after uncovering the movement of dormant Bitcoin wallets that ultimately ended the bull run to an end.

The On-Chain Signal I Identified Before The Rally

Two days before this move, I published a video explaining that a significant change was developing underneath XRP’s disappointing price action. While retail investors were losing confidence, the number of addresses holding at least one million XRP had increased from approximately 2,006 to 2,038 within several months. Technical indicators remained mixed, but the on-chain evidence showed that the largest wallets were accumulating while market cap was declining.

That divergence led me to conclude that a major movement was approaching, and XRP subsequently became the top-performing assets in the market. You can watch my previous analysis here, where I presented the data before the breakout occurred:

On-chain analysis must be interpreted carefully rather than treated as a perfect identification system. Nevertheless, an expanding population of million-XRP wallets during a prolonged price decline is more consistent with accumulation than broad distribution, particularly when smaller holders are simultaneously reducing their exposure.

When Whales Accumulate During Fear

The importance of this pattern becomes clearer when placed within XRP’s history. During previous periods of extreme pessimism, large holders accumulated while retail investors focused almost entirely on falling prices and negative headlines. XRP traded near $0.17 during the market collapse of 2020, before the SEC filed its lawsuit against Ripple in December of that year. One of my greatest XRP position was accumulated around that price area, when confidence in XRP t was already exceptionally weak. XRP later advanced above $1.80, producing a return of more than ten times from the lower region without requiring the underlying market to become optimistic first.

But eventually, I made a different decision.

I have now officially chosen Cyprus as the base for my tax residency.

My primary home has traditionally been in Greece, and I still spend a significant amount of time there. But Cyprus gives me something increasingly difficult to find: a competitive tax framework, access to the European Union, a Mediterranean lifestyle and the flexibility to continue travelling around the world.

This is not simply a decision about paying less tax. If taxes were the only consideration, there would be several jurisdictions worth examining.

The real question is whether you actually want to live there.

And in Cyprus, the answer for me was yes.

A bridge between Europe and the Middle East

Location was one of the most important factors behind my decision.

Cyprus sits between Europe and the Middle East. From Larnaca, I can reach Athens in approximately one hour, while Dubai is only a few hours away. There are also affordable direct connections to numerous destinations across Europe and the surrounding region.

For someone who travels constantly for conferences, investments and business, Cyprus functions as an extremely practical base.

I can spend time in Limassol, return to Greece, attend an event in another European country or fly to the Middle East without feeling geographically isolated.

Cyprus is a member of the European Union, although it is not currently part of the Schengen Area. This provides an important level of institutional and political stability while preserving its strategic position at the crossroads of three continents.

Why I reconsidered Dubai

I still like Dubai, particularly during the European winter. It offers sunshine, luxury, exceptional service and an enormous international business community.

However, living somewhere is different from visiting it.

Residency requirements, extreme summer temperatures, regional uncertainty and the prospect of spending a substantial portion of every year in the desert made me reconsider whether it was the correct long-term base for me.

Cyprus offers many of the characteristics that originally attracted me to Dubai—but in a more European and Mediterranean environment.

Limassol has modern residential towers, luxury restaurants, international companies, marinas and an increasingly wealthy foreign population. At the same time, it still feels like an island.

Life moves more slowly. The sea is always nearby. You can walk along the coast at sunset, rent a boat, go fishing or drive into the mountains.

It feels less artificial and more connected to nature.

The Mediterranean lifestyle matters

Cyprus reportedly receives more than 300 days of sunshine per year. The island is surrounded by remarkably clean water, with everything from rocky swimming areas to long sandy beaches.

You can spend the morning working, walk beside the sea in the afternoon and have dinner overlooking the Mediterranean.

During winter, you can travel into the Troodos Mountains for hiking and even skiing. During summer, you have beaches, boats, diving and almost every water activity imaginable.

Limassol is also far more developed than many people expect. It offers food delivery, luxury properties, modern gyms, international restaurants and most of the conveniences found in a major city.

As an Italian, I take food seriously. Cyprus is naturally influenced by Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, but Limassol also has excellent Italian restaurants and pizzerias using imported ingredients and experienced chefs.

You receive the slower rhythm of island life without sacrificing the conveniences of a modern international city.

For me, that balance is extremely valuable.

Crypto markets never sleep. Trading and managing an online business can create enormous amounts of stress. Living near the sea, walking at sunset, fishing and swimming have helped me maintain a healthier balance.

And yes, during the filming of this video, a sea turtle unexpectedly appeared while I was swimming. Perhaps Cyprus already has its own XRP whales.

The tax framework attracting entrepreneurs

Now we arrive at the reason many entrepreneurs and crypto investors are beginning to pay attention.

Cyprus offers a competitive tax system for qualifying residents and businesses. The exact treatment of cryptocurrency depends on the nature and frequency of the activity, the taxpayer’s status, the source of income and the structure being used.

The framework discussed in my video includes a flat tax treatment for qualifying digital-asset gains, alongside a competitive corporate-tax environment. Qualifying non-domiciled residents may also benefit from exemptions relating to certain dividend and interest income.

These rules can make Cyprus particularly interesting for entrepreneurs who operate companies internationally or investors who may eventually realise gains from Bitcoin, XRP or other digital assets.

However, there is no universal “zero-tax” answer that applies to everyone.

Someone occasionally selling a long-term investment may be treated differently from a professional trader, a company or someone receiving crypto as business income. Your previous country of residence may also continue to have claims depending on its domestic rules and whether you have properly broken tax residency there.

This is why professional structuring is essential.

The 60-day tax-residency rule

One of Cyprus’s most significant advantages is its 60-day tax-residency route.

Simply spending 60 days on the island is not enough by itself. Applicants must satisfy all applicable legal conditions, including limits on time spent in other countries, maintaining the required connection to Cyprus and not being considered tax-resident elsewhere.

For internationally mobile entrepreneurs, however, the framework can provide considerably more flexibility than systems requiring someone to remain in one country for most of the year.

Evidence also matters.

Bank statements, airline tickets, accommodation records, local spending, utility bills and other documentation may be used to demonstrate your physical presence and connection to Cyprus. Opening a local bank account and obtaining a Cypriot telephone number can also become part of establishing a genuine presence.

The structure must exist in reality—not merely on paper.

Is Cyprus becoming the new Dubai?

I do not believe Cyprus will replace Dubai completely. They serve different markets and offer very different experiences.

But Cyprus is beginning to attract the same category of person: internationally mobile entrepreneurs, investors, executives and wealthy individuals looking for security, connectivity and a favourable environment in which to live and operate.

Limassol already has a significant international community. New developments are transforming its skyline, capital continues to enter the property market and networking opportunities are expanding.

The difference is that Cyprus combines this international capital with European institutions and Mediterranean culture.

You can live beside the sea, conduct business within the EU, reach Athens in approximately one hour and remain only a short flight from the Middle East.

For Bitcoin and XRP investors who want a European base, that combination is difficult to ignore.

This pattern closely resembles what happened before XRP’s historic rally following the panic surrounding the SEC lawsuit. During that period, retail capitulated while some of the largest wallets accumulated aggressively. In this video, I examine why the same divergence is appearing again, what it could reveal about institutional positioning, and why XRP’s long-term appreciation must ultimately be driven by utility rather than political headlines or short-term speculation.

The timing of the next major move remains uncertain, and accumulation can continue for months. However, the underlying data is clear: large XRP wallets are increasing their exposure while smaller holders are surrendering their positions. The question is whether retail investors are once again transferring their assets to patient capital immediately before the market enters its next phase.

XRP has been facing sustained selling pressure, but the latest Rich List data reveals an important development beneath the price action. The number of wallets holding at least one million XRP has continued to increase while XRP’s market cap has declined substantially, demonstrating that large holders are accumulating or consolidating positions, while retail is panicking. At the same time, the latest distribution data reveals exactly how much XRP an account needs to enter the top 10%, top 5%, top 1%, and even top 0.01% of XRP wallets. The number required to enter the top 10% may has changed again.

The number of addresses holding at least one million XRP increased by 32 over in just three months, rising from approximately 2,006 to 2,038 wallets. During approximately the same period, XRP’s market cap declined by around 29%. That divergence deserves attention because periods of falling prices can provide useful information about how ownership is changing underneath the surface. While smaller wallets are clearly selling XRP and losing faith in the ecosystem, the increasing number of million-XRP addresses indicates that Financial Institutions are accumulating large sums.

What the Increase in Million-XRP Wallets Actually Means

The first principle to understand is that market price and ownership concentration measure two different things. Price reflects the level at which marginal buyers and sellers are currently willing to transact, whereas the distribution of XRP across wallets shows where the existing supply is being held. A declining price therefore does not automatically imply that every category of holder is reducing exposure. Selling pressure can come from one segment of the market while another segment absorbs that supply, which is precisely why wallet distribution becomes particularly useful during corrections. If the number of million-XRP wallets is increasing while the asset loses market capitalization, the data is consistent with large holders accumulating or consolidating substantial XRP positions during weakness.

There is an important limitation that should be established before drawing stronger conclusions. An XRP Ledger address is not equivalent to an individual investor, because one person can control several addresses while exchanges, custodians, funds, companies and other institutions can maintain multiple wallets for operational or security purposes. The increase from approximately 2,006 to 2,038 million-XRP addresses therefore does not prove that 32 new investors independently purchased at least one million XRP. What the data does establish is narrower but still relevant: more addresses now contain balances of at least one million XRP despite a significant deterioration in XRP’s market valuation.

How Much XRP Do You Need to Enter the Top 10%?

The broader XRP Rich List provides additional context for understanding how ownership is distributed across the network. According to the latest figures, an account requires approximately 2,138 XRP to rank within the top 10% of XRP accounts. Moving higher becomes progressively more difficult, with approximately 7,497 XRP required for the top 5%, 21,824 XRP for the top 2%, and 44,743 XRP for the top 1%.

At the extreme end of the distribution, the numbers become considerably larger. An account needs approximately 275,031 XRP to reach the top 0.1%, while entering the top 0.01% requires approximately 3.69 million XRP. The progression illustrates how rapidly the distribution narrows as account balances increase.

These figures should again be interpreted as account statistics rather than a ranking of unique individuals. An exchange can control multiple accounts containing assets belonging to thousands of customers, while an individual holder can distribute XRP across several wallets. Nevertheless, the distribution remains useful for understanding the relative size of a particular XRP balance within the ledger itself.

One Million XRP Is Already an Exceptionally Large Position

The Rich List thresholds provide a better framework for understanding what a one-million-XRP wallet actually represents. One million XRP is more than twenty-two times the balance currently required to rank within the top 1% of XRP accounts, and approximately 468 times the amount required to enter the top 10%. An address crossing the one-million-XRP level therefore represents a very large concentration of tokens relative to the overwhelming majority of accounts.

This is precisely why the increase in million-XRP addresses deserves attention. We are not discussing wallets moving from 1,000 XRP to 2,000 XRP, where relatively modest capital could materially change the distribution. Crossing the one-million-XRP threshold requires a substantial balance, which means an increase in the number of accounts above that level represents a meaningful change in the upper end of the XRP ownership distribution. When this occurs during a period in which the broader market valuation is falling, the divergence becomes particularly interesting.

Who Is Buying the XRP Being Sold?

Every XRP sold must ultimately be acquired by another participant, but the important question is where that supply is moving. If smaller or more price-sensitive holders are selling while the number of very large wallets increases, at least some of the available supply appears to be migrating toward addresses capable of maintaining substantial positions.

This does not guarantee that those entities possess superior information, nor does it establish that XRP has reached a market bottom. Large investors can make incorrect decisions just as smaller investors can, and some movements between wallets may reflect custody restructuring rather than genuine market purchases. Nevertheless, accumulation during weakness generally provides more useful information than accumulation during rapidly rising markets because buyers are increasing or maintaining exposure while prevailing price momentum remains unfavorable.

The distinction matters because markets frequently transfer assets between participants with different time horizons. A holder concerned primarily with the next several weeks may sell during a correction, while another participant with a multi-year investment horizon may consider the same decline an opportunity to increase exposure. The price records the transaction, but the Rich List can help reveal how the resulting ownership structure is changing.

Whale Accumulation Does Not Mean the Bottom Is In

The Rich List should therefore never be treated as a short-term price indicator. XRP can continue falling even while large wallets accumulate because markets clear at the margin, and aggressive selling can push prices lower when immediate demand is insufficient at existing levels. Large holders may also accumulate gradually precisely because they expect volatility to continue and have no requirement to identify the exact market bottom.

Their behavior consequently tells us more about changes in supply ownership than about where XRP will trade tomorrow, next week, or next month. The relevant observation is that declining prices have not prevented the population of million-XRP addresses from expanding. If the same trend continues through an extended correction, it would provide stronger evidence that substantial holders are systematically absorbing supply rather than reacting to short-term price movements.

The XRP Rich List Reveals How Concentrated Large Holdings Are

The numbers become especially interesting when viewed through the mathematics of XRP ownership. There are approximately 806,422 accounts inside the top 10%, approximately 80,643 accounts inside the top 1%, roughly 8,065 accounts inside the top 0.1%, and only 807 accounts above the approximately 3.69 million XRP threshold required for the top 0.01%.

The distribution therefore narrows extremely quickly as balances increase. Moving from the top 10% to the top 1% requires increasing a balance from approximately 2,138 XRP to 44,743 XRP, while moving from the top 1% into the top 0.1% requires more than 275,000 XRP. Reaching the top 0.01% requires several million XRP.

When discussing future adoption, that matters because XRP has a finite maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, while the amount practically available for purchase at any particular moment is considerably smaller than the theoretical maximum supply. Those coins can be held in long-term wallets, controlled by institutions, placed under custody, held on exchanges, lost, reserved for operational purposes, or otherwise unavailable at a given market price. Market liquidity therefore depends on the quantity owners are actually willing to sell rather than simply the headline supply number.

What you’re about to read is the result of months of dedicated on-chain investigation, tracing thousands of transactions across Bitcoin’s earliest history, reconstructing dormant wallet clusters, following the original mining rewards, and comparing those movements with institutional transactions, corporate filings, and capital raises. What happened during this period changed Bitcoin forever, because some of the oldest and most historically significant supply in existence suddenly became active, moved through institutional channels, and ultimately changed hands on a scale the market had never experienced before.

Nine months ago, I sat down with an on-chain investigator from OnChain School to trace approximately 80,000 Bitcoin that had suddenly moved out of eight wallets nobody had touched since 2011. At the time, I called it one of the biggest systemic risks to Bitcoin that nobody was talking about, and I stand by that assessment because coins from this period represent a type of supply that the market had effectively treated as permanently dormant for more than a decade. I tried to warn everyone that what we were seeing could extend far beyond those eight wallets, with potentially hundreds of thousands of dormant Bitcoin becoming active and creating an enormous source of supply for the market. What followed was also one of the most difficult periods of my career.

My YouTube and TikTok accounts faced enforcement actions, and shortly afterward I lost my X account, where I had built an audience of approximately 200,000 followers.

Back then, I was the most influential XRP account on Twitter, having already contributed several major investigations to the crypto space. For years, I was able to publish this research without facing anything remotely comparable. It seemed the system was willing to leave me alone until I started digging deeply into Bitcoin and questioning the origin, concentration, and movement of its earliest supply.

The problems really started when I decided to share the on-chain investigation I am about to present, and it began gaining so much traction that my account eventually ranked #8 globally in the Bitcoin category on Twitter, ahead of major players in the industry, including Michael Saylor.

And this is where the nightmare really began. During the same period, I received a security warning directly from Google stating that government-backed attackers were attempting to steal my password. At the same time, the 80,000 BTC investigation was spreading rapidly, while I was facing enforcement across several of the platforms where I had spent years building my audience.

The consequences were not limited to losing my reach and the platforms I had spent years building. Between the revenue lost after losing access to those audiences and the substantial legal fees I incurred trying to defend and recover my accounts, the financial damage is now approaching seven figures. The personal and financial cost of what followed this investigation has been enormous.

What I did not have back then was the second half of the story: what happened to those Bitcoin after they left the original wallets, who facilitated their sale, and most importantly, who was on the other side of the trade. We now know that Galaxy Digital facilitated the sale of more than 80,000 BTC on behalf of what the company described as a Satoshi-era investor, but the identity of the buyer was never publicly disclosed.

I went back into the data because what happened after July 2025 deserves much more attention than it received. Once you place the movement of these dormant coins next to Galaxy Digital’s confirmed sale and Strategy’s publicly disclosed capital raises and Bitcoin purchases, a very unusual timeline begins to emerge.

The Awakening — July 4, 2025

On July 4, 2025, we identified what appears to be only one part of a much larger movement of dormant Bitcoin. The eight wallets widely reported by the media controlled slightly more than 80,000 BTC, but our investigation identified multiple separate tranches of approximately 80,000 dormant BTC, pointing to a combined amount potentially reaching into the hundreds of thousands of Bitcoin, or millions. These coins originated from Bitcoin’s earliest years and had remained virtually untouched for more than a decade, which makes the scale of the activity far more significant than the single 80,000 BTC transaction that received public attention. The 80,000 BTC sold through Galaxy Digital therefore represents the tranche we can publicly trace and document, rather than necessarily the full extent of the dormant supply we identified.

The eight addresses associated with the movement were

The address 1f1miYFQWTzdLiCBxtHHnNiW7WAWPUccr for example, received its Bitcoin through multiple transactions on April 4, 2011, including several small inputs and one significantly larger transfer of approximately 3,558 BTC. The MetaSleuth trace shows these separate inputs converging into the same address, illustrating how the position was originally accumulated during Bitcoin’s earliest years. This is important because the roughly 10,000 BTC that eventually sat dormant in this wallet did not suddenly appear in 2025, but the on-chain history traces its accumulation back to 2011, before remaining untouched for roughly fourteen years.

The Spent Output Age Bands data shows why this event was historically significant. When approximately 80,000 BTC that had remained dormant for more than a decade suddenly moved, the 10+ year age band produced a spike unlike anything previously recorded in Bitcoin’s history. There had been other major movements of ancient supply, including the visible spike in 2024 associated with the redistribution of Bitcoin connected to Mt. Gox, but even that event was not remotely comparable in this specific age cohort. The July 2025 movement stands almost vertically above the historical baseline, confirming that this was not simply another large whale transaction, but an unprecedented activation of Bitcoin supply that had effectively remained outside the liquid market for more than a decade.

The Eight Wallets Behind the 80,000 BTC Movement

The MetaSleuth analysis above maps the eight dormant Bitcoin addresses involved in the July 4, 2025 movement, with each wallet transferring approximately 10,000 BTC into a new address within hours of the others. The eight wallets collectively moved slightly more than 80,000 BTC. The fact that eight similarly sized positions moved within the same narrow time window is important because it strongly suggests coordinated control rather than eight unrelated early holders independently deciding to move approximately $1 billion each on the same day. This 80,000 BTC cluster is the tranche that can be traced through the subsequent transactions discussed below, and it provides the on-chain foundation for following what happened to these dormant coins afterward.

Origin of the Dormant Bitcoin

The origin of these coins is important because the eight wallets shown above are consolidation wallets, in yellow, not the original source of the Bitcoin. Looking only at those addresses can therefore give an incomplete picture of the age of the holdings. When we trace the transactions backward through the consolidation process, we find that the Bitcoin feeding these wallets had last moved on April 2, 2011, when Bitcoin was still trading for less than one dollar. The coins were subsequently consolidated into the addresses shown above and ultimately remained dormant for approximately fourteen years before moving again in July 2025. We are not simply measuring the age of the final wallet addresses, but we are tracing the underlying Bitcoin through its transaction history to establish when those coins were last economically active.

The initial movement did not prove that a sale was taking place. Arkham Intelligence suggested at the time that the owner could simply have been upgrading wallet security by moving Bitcoin from legacy addresses into modern SegWit addresses, which was a completely reasonable interpretation because an on-chain transfer only demonstrates that ownership controls moved the coins, not that the beneficial owner changed.

Native SegWit addresses, which begin with “bc1,” are generally more efficient and offer technical advantages over older legacy addresses, so moving dormant Bitcoin from addresses beginning with “1” into native SegWit wallets could reasonably be interpreted as a wallet modernization or security-related migration. However, Final 4 immediately breaks that pattern. Unlike the other destination wallets, Final 4 begins with “1,” meaning it is still a legacy P2PKH address rather than a native SegWit address. If the purpose of these coordinated movements was simply to upgrade all of the old wallets to native SegWit, this exception does not fit that explanation.

The transaction history confirms the provenance of this 10,000 BTC position. The consolidation wallet received approximately 10,000 BTC from an address tracing back to April 2, 2011, before the position remained dormant for roughly fourteen years and was finally moved again on July 4, 2025.

Tracing the Bitcoin Back to Mining Rewards

The origin of these Bitcoin is relatively easy to trace on-chain because the transaction history eventually leads directly back to coinbase mining rewards from 2010, placing the coins within the very earliest period of Bitcoin’s existence. At the time, each block rewarded miners with 50 BTC, and the MetaSleuth analysis shows multiple 50 BTC tranches originating directly from coinbase transactions between September 2010 and February 2011. These individual mining rewards were later moved and progressively consolidated into larger balances, eventually contributing to the enormous positions identified in our investigation. This provenance is important because it establishes that we are not simply dealing with Bitcoin purchased cheaply on an exchange years later, but the transaction paths shown here originate directly from early mining rewards, when Bitcoin’s network was still in its infancy and only a relatively small population of miners was participating.

Reconstructing the Origin of the 80,000 BTC

This part of the investigation was relatively simple because there were only a limited number of transactions separating the 80,000 BTC wallets from their original source. By tracing each transaction backward, we were able to follow the coins through the consolidation wallets, then through a small number of intermediate addresses, until the trail eventually reached coinbase mining rewards from 2010 and early 2011. At that time, Bitcoin miners received 50 BTC for every block mined, which is exactly what appears on the left side of the board: individual 50 BTC rewards that were gradually moved through early addresses and consolidated into increasingly larger positions.

The important point is that the wallets holding approximately 10,000 BTC were not the original source of these coins; they were simply the final consolidation wallets. Following the history further back shows that at least the transaction paths reconstructed here originated from very early Bitcoin mining rewards, with relatively few on-chain steps separating the original mined coins from the enormous balances that eventually remained dormant until July 2025.

But this is where the biggest part of the mystery begins. Once we move beyond the initial consolidation of the wallets above and start tracing the remaining funds, which represent the majority of the Bitcoin we identified, the transaction history begins showing a strange and unusually structured pattern. The Bitcoin is repeatedly divided, recombined and routed through multiple intermediate addresses THOUSANDS OF TIMES, before eventually forming the large balances we identified. This level of transaction organization is particularly interesting considering that the activity occurred in 2011, when Bitcoin infrastructure was still extremely primitive and the sophisticated blockchain analytics, automation and transaction-management tools available today simply did not exist. None of this tells us who controlled these wallets, but the deliberate structure and repetition of these early movements is unusual enough that we need to follow this part of the trail much deeper.

Here you can see a large balance is systematically divided across multiple addresses and then reconsolidated before continuing through the chain. Instead of simply moving Bitcoin from one wallet to another, the funds follow a highly organized sequence of splits and merges, creating multiple layers between the original coins and their eventual destination. This type of pattern is implemented to make the origin and subsequent flow of the funds significantly more difficult to trace, particularly as additional layers are introduced. The ownership trail therefore becomes considerably more complex, which is especially relevant when we consider that these transactions were being executed in 2011, during Bitcoin’s earliest years.

This transaction below shows the basic mechanics of a peel structure very clearly: one balance enters the wallet, but two outputs leave it. The wallet receives approximately 9,990 BTC, and when those coins move, the transaction separates the balance into two outputs: one large output carrying almost the entire position forward and a much smaller output sent to a different address. The process can then be repeated, with the large remainder entering another wallet and again producing two outputs. Each repetition effectively “peels” a small amount away from the main balance while the bulk of the Bitcoin continues through the chain, creating an increasingly complex trail of addresses and transactions to follow.

This transaction shows the peel pattern at the individual wallet level. The address receives 2,667.71 BTC and, at the exact same timestamp, sends 2,625.07 BTC to one address and 42.64 BTC to another. The amounts add up exactly to 2,667.71 BTC, showing how one incoming balance was immediately split into two separate outputs.

The next image confirms the peel pattern continues through thousands of BTC. The address receives approximately 2,625.066 BTC, then spends it roughly 26 minutes later, splitting the balance into approximately 2,583.2955 BTC and 41.77 BTC. The larger amount continues forward while another portion is peeled away, and when this process is repeated across multiple addresses, these individual splits add up to thousands of Bitcoin being systematically routed through the same pattern.

At this point, tracking every individual transaction becomes increasingly difficult because the funds are repeatedly split, peeled, recombined and routed through a growing network of addresses. The structure is consistent with an attempt to obscure the provenance and ownership trail. This teaches us an important lesson: focusing exclusively on the famous “Satoshi wallets” is just a distraction from the much larger question of how early Bitcoin supply was actually distributed. What our investigation demonstrates is that a relatively small number of coordinated or centralized players controls a far larger share of the early Bitcoin supply than the visible Satoshi-era wallets would suggest.

It is also important to highlight when these dormant coins began moving. Bitcoin was already trading above $100,000 and near its all-time highs, meaning this enormous amount of ancient supply was becoming active during one of the strongest periods of market liquidity and demand. At the time, I published a video titled' ‘'This Will End The Bullrun’’ warning that the movement of these 80,000 BTC was a serious risk to the markets, that original analysis can be watched here:

Hidden Messages Inside the Destination Address?

There is another unusual detail in the destination address itself. Bitcoin addresses are normally generated from cryptographic keys, so their characters should appear effectively random. Yet this address contains the visible sequence “fu*k” inside bc1qwq5geath93h0lnfsrmnwnfuck2f9ypv4ewyl4j. A sequence like this can occur randomly, but users can also deliberately generate vanity addresses by repeatedly generating keys until an address containing a desired pattern appears. The presence of a readable word does not prove who created the wallet or why, but it raises the possibility that this address was intentionally generated rather than simply being an ordinary random destination, adding another unusual detail to an already highly structured series of movements.

The same anomaly appears in Final 3. Inside the native SegWit address bc1qmnjm0l0kdf3m3d8khc6cukj8deakg8m588z24g, the sequence “deak” appears clearly near the end. By itself, four readable characters can occur randomly, so this is not proof of intentional encoding. However, when another destination from the same coordinated 80,000 BTC movement contains “fuck,” the presence of a second readable sequence becomes worth documenting. Vanity-address generation can deliberately produce specific character patterns, so these addresses raise the question of whether at least some of the destinations were purposefully generated rather than ordinary random SegWit addresses, potentially functioning as a hidden message embedded directly into the addresses themselves. As these coins were ultimately being prepared to enter and be sold into the markets, the possibility of intentionally encoded messages makes these destination addresses even more unusual.

The Movements Started in BTC Cash

An important detail is that the activity appears first on the Bitcoin Cash side of the forked coins. The screenshot shows the corresponding BCH address receiving approximately 10,000 BCH on July 4, 2025, before another transaction appears on July 5. Because holders of Bitcoin before the 2017 fork also received the corresponding BCH, activity involving these forked coins can provide another signal that the private keys controlling these extremely old holdings had become active. This matters because the event was therefore broader than simply moving dormant BTC between Bitcoin addresses; the associated Bitcoin Cash was also being accessed and moved.

Until this point, we knew where the coins came from and how they had been structured for more than a decade. What happened next is where the investigation changes completely, because for the first time we can follow these dormant coins into the institutional financial system.

XRP must quickly reclaim the $1.05 critical support level. If it doesn’t, the probability of seeing sub-$1 XRP within the next few days increases significantly.

Modern communication has reached a point where information can travel across the globe almost instantly. An email sent from New York reaches Tokyo in milliseconds, a video call connects continents with minimal delay, and billions of messages are exchanged every day without users considering the infrastructure that makes it possible. Money, however, continues to move according to a very different standard. International bank transfers frequently require several business days to settle, involve multiple intermediaries, generate substantial fees, and offer limited transparency to both institutions and customers. This contrast between the speed of information and the speed of value transfer reveals one of the largest remaining inefficiencies in the global financial system. While communication infrastructure has evolved dramatically over the past several decades, much of the world’s payment infrastructure continues to rely on systems originally designed long before the internet became a central part of everyday life.

The Multi-Trillion Dollar Liquidity Problem

The reason this inefficiency persists is not because banks lack technology or because international payments are inherently impossible to process quickly. Instead, the financial system was built around a network of correspondent banking relationships that require institutions to maintain pre-funded accounts around the world, commonly known as nostro and vostro accounts. These accounts exist so banks can fulfill payment obligations in foreign currencies without waiting for funds to arrive after each transaction. Although the system has functioned for decades, it requires enormous amounts of capital to remain idle purely for settlement purposes. Capital that could otherwise finance businesses, expand lending, or improve institutional liquidity instead remains locked inside dormant accounts supporting legacy infrastructure. This trapped liquidity reaches into the tens of trillions of dollars, making it not simply an operational inconvenience but a structural inefficiency with meaningful economic consequences.

Why XRP Was Created

This is the problem XRPL was created to address. It is not just a cryptocurrency but part of a private financial technology company that develops payment infrastructure for banks, payment providers, and financial institutions. Ripple objective is not to replace the banking system but to modernize the mechanisms through which value moves between participants. Rather than focusing on consumer applications, Ripple has spent years building enterprise software intended to reduce settlement times, lower operational costs, and simplify cross-border transactions. Its products have evolved over time, but the underlying objective has remained consistent: replacing fragmented payment processes with infrastructure capable of settling transactions within seconds instead of days.

But Ripple is Not XRP

Understanding Ripple also requires distinguishing the company from XRP, a distinction that is frequently misunderstood even within cryptocurrency markets. Ripple is a corporation that develops financial products, while XRP is the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger, an open-source public blockchain. Although Ripple uses XRP within some of its payment solutions, the ledger itself operates independently of the company and can continue functioning regardless of Ripple’s future. This separation resembles the relationship between software built on the internet and the internet protocol itself. Individual companies may create products that utilize the protocol, but the protocol does not depend on any single company for its existence.

XRP Eliminates Idle Capital and Unlocks Trillions

The technical characteristics of XRP were designed specifically for payment settlement rather than for serving as a store of value. Transactions generally settle within a few seconds, transaction costs remain extremely low, and the network consumes relatively little energy compared with proof-of-work systems. XRP can function as a bridge asset between two fiat currencies. Instead of maintaining separate pools of capital across multiple jurisdictions, a financial institution can convert one currency into XRP, transfer that value almost instantly, and convert it into another currency on the receiving side. When implemented at scale, this process reduces the need for pre-funded accounts while improving capital efficiency throughout the banking system.

Institutional Adoption Is a Slow Process

Ripple’s strategy has also differed from many blockchain projects by concentrating on regulatory compliance and institutional partnerships rather than consumer speculation. The company has spent years working with banks, payment providers, and central bank initiatives while expanding its global presence through enterprise relationships. Strategic partnerships with leading global financial institutions, including the IMF, BIS, and WEF, are expected to accelerate XRP adoption worldwide, they demonstrate that Ripple has pursued integration within the existing financial system rather than attempting to bypass it entirely. From an institutional perspective, gradual adoption is generally more realistic than sudden disruption because financial infrastructure changes only after satisfying regulatory, operational, The XRP Ledger has been one of the most battle-tested blockchains in operation since 2012. In over 14 years, it has experienced only two significant network outages, resulting in an uptime of well over 99.99%.

XRP Reprice Explained

This institutional positioning explains why XRP is completely different from every other digital assets. Much of the cryptocurrency market remains driven primarily by speculation, narrative cycles, and investor sentiment. Projects often achieve substantial valuations before establishing sustainable commercial demand. XRP, by contrast, was designed around a clearly identifiable economic function: facilitating efficient settlement between financial institutions. XRP solves a problem that already exists and has existed for decades. From an investment standpoint, this creates a thesis based not exclusively on future technological possibilities but on improving an identifiable inefficiency within existing financial markets.

Yesterday's sell-off has brought more confirmations. The decline was also fueled by news surrounding a serious security vulnerability affecting COLDCARD hardware wallets, where a flaw in the random number generation used to create private keys reportedly allowed attackers to drain funds from affected wallets.

The Hardware Wallet Failure That Shocked BTC

This was one of the worst hardware wallet failures in Bitcoin history because, for the first time, hundreds of users reportedly lost access to their funds without any evidence of user error. There was no leaked seed phrase, no phishing attack, and no compromised computer, but a catastrophic vulnerability. In just 25 minutes, 594 BTC was drained from roughly 500 air-gapped wallets. These wallets had never connected to the internet. Investigators later discovered that another 488 BTC had been stolen through the same attack months earlier without anyone noticing. In total, more than 1,000 BTC disappeared.

Bitcoin Is Backfilling Liquidity

Bitcoin is now backfilling the liquidity that was left behind during the sharp impulsive sell-off, which is a normal part of market structure. Fast moves often leave inefficient price action behind, and markets frequently revisit these areas before deciding on their next major direction. The market is simply clearing the resting liquidity that was left behind during the initial sell-off.

The distinction between backing and pegging matters because the terms describe different arrangements. An asset is backed when identifiable reserves support its value or redemption obligations. An asset is pegged when an operator actively targets a specific exchange rate. A gold-backed token normally represents a contractual claim on gold held by a custodian, while a gold-pegged XRP system would attempt to maintain a fixed XRP-to-gold conversion rate. XRP has no issuer capable of unilaterally guaranteeing that conversion today, which means the peg would require a new institutional structure around the asset. Nothing inside the XRP Ledger automatically creates that promise.

What a Credible Gold Peg Requires

A functioning peg begins with a redemption window. The operator must agree to exchange XRP for gold, gold-backed claims or currency equivalent to the gold reference price at a predetermined rate. If XRP trades below that rate in the open market, arbitrageurs buy discounted XRP and redeem it with the operator at the higher official value. Their purchases raise market demand while redemptions remove XRP from circulation. If XRP trades above the official rate, the operator sells XRP into the market or allows participants to obtain XRP at the official conversion rate. The additional supply pushes the market price back toward the target.

This arbitrage mechanism explains why reserves matter more than public declarations. A peg survives only while traders believe the operator has enough liquid assets to honor redemptions. Gold held in a vault provides collateral, but physical gold alone is slow and expensive to mobilize during periods of intense market pressure. The reserve structure would therefore require allocated bullion, cash, short-term government securities, gold swaps and access to institutional liquidity. Independent audits would verify the amount and ownership of the gold, while legal documents would define who has a claim against it. Without enforceable convertibility, the arrangement would be a price target rather than a genuine peg.

History demonstrates that pegs fail when reserve capacity becomes smaller than the market’s willingness to challenge the official rate. Under the Bretton Woods system, foreign governments could convert dollars into gold at $35 per ounce, but growing dollar liabilities eventually exceeded the United States’ willingness to maintain convertibility. President Richard Nixon suspended dollar-to-gold conversion in August 1971, ending the central mechanism supporting the system. The lesson is not that gold pegs are impossible. The lesson is that the reserve issuer must accept the monetary discipline imposed by the peg, especially when defending it becomes expensive.

XRP introduces an additional difficulty because its market value is formed across hundreds of exchanges, trading pairs and jurisdictions. A single operator would need enough capital to influence the aggregated global market rather than one isolated XRP order book. Exchanges would also need reliable access to the redemption facility so arbitrage could eliminate price differences quickly. Market makers would demand compensation for custody risk, regulatory risk, price volatility and the delay involved in converting tokenized claims into physical bullion. The deeper the liquidity and the faster the settlement process, the narrower those price differences would become.

What the XRP Ledger Can Actually Do

The XRP Ledger already contains several components that can support such a structure, although none of them independently creates a peg. Its decentralized exchange allows assets issued on the ledger to trade against XRP through order books. Its automated market makers hold two assets in liquidity pools and calculate exchange rates through a mathematical formula. The ledger also supports native price oracles that place external asset prices on-chain, allowing applications to reference information such as the market price of gold. These functions provide pricing, trading and settlement infrastructure, but the economic value must still enter the system through reserves and enforceable redemption.

A regulated institution could issue a token representing one gram or one troy ounce of allocated gold on the XRP Ledger. That token could trade directly against XRP through the native decentralized exchange or an XRP-gold automated market maker. Price oracles would publish reference prices from recognized bullion markets, while market makers would arbitrage differences between the on-ledger price and the external gold market. XRP would provide the liquid bridge between the gold token and other currencies or assets. This structure is technically cleaner than altering XRP itself because the gold token has an identifiable issuer, custodian, reserve policy and redemption obligation.

Escrow would have a narrower role than many XRP holders assume. XRPL escrow locks existing XRP or eligible tokens until a time-based or cryptographic condition is satisfied. It does not observe the gold price by itself, decide that XRP has moved above a target, or automatically change the circulating supply in response. The ledger currently supports time-based escrow and conditional escrow using a PREIMAGE-SHA-256 cryptographic condition. An external system can use oracle data to decide when to provide the fulfillment required to release an escrow, but the decision-making logic remains outside the escrow object itself.

Unlike many blockchains that rely on complex smart contracts to manage assets, the XRP Ledger was built with native escrow functionality at the protocol level. Escrow is not an application deployed by a third party but a core feature of the ledger itself. Every validator enforces the escrow rules identically, eliminating many of the risks associated with custom smart contracts. This architecture was intentionally designed for institutional finance, where predictable execution and security are often more important than unlimited programmability.

Escrow can schedule the release of XRP reserves, but it cannot defend the lower side of a peg without capital. Locking XRP after its price falls does not remove tokens from sellers unless the operator first buys those tokens from the market. That purchase requires gold, cash or another reserve asset. Releasing escrowed XRP when the price rises can increase available supply, although the amount is limited by the operator’s existing holdings. Supply management can support a stabilization program, but it cannot replace redemption and market intervention. The reserve balance sheet remains the foundation of the peg.

The XRP Ledger’s fixed supply does not prevent a peg. The Hong Kong dollar operates under a currency-board arrangement without requiring its monetary base to expand without limit, while commodity exchange-traded products maintain asset relationships through creation and redemption processes. A fixed XRP supply only changes how the operator manages inventory. Instead of creating unlimited new XRP, the institution would acquire XRP, hold strategic reserves and recycle those reserves through purchases and sales. The system’s capacity would be constrained by the amount of XRP and gold committed to the facility.

The Role of the IMF, BIS and Central Banks

The International Monetary Fund would not need to become the issuer of XRP for the asset to participate in a gold-linked monetary framework. The IMF already administers the Special Drawing Right, an international reserve asset whose value is calculated from a basket containing the U.S. dollar, euro, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yen and British pound. SDRs are held by IMF members and approved official institutions rather than private individuals. The SDR demonstrates that international reserve value can be defined through an agreed reference basket without functioning as a conventional national currency.

The SDR also has a direct historical connection to gold. When the IMF created it in 1969, the SDR was initially defined through a quantity of gold equivalent to one U.S. dollar under the Bretton Woods system. After fixed exchange rates collapsed, the IMF replaced that definition with a currency basket. This precedent proves that the reference framework of an international reserve asset can change when the monetary system changes. It does not prove that the IMF plans to include XRP or gold in a future SDR structure, but it establishes the institutional mechanism through which reserve units are defined and periodically revised.

The Bank for International Settlements would play a different role. The BIS supports monetary and financial stability through cooperation between central banks and acts as a bank for central banks. It is owned by 63 central banks and monetary authorities representing approximately 95% of global GDP. Its banking services include gold and foreign-exchange trading for central banks and reserve managers, while its committees develop standards for payment, clearing and settlement infrastructure. A multinational XRP-gold framework would require exactly this type of coordination, although any BIS agreement would still need implementation through national laws and regulations.

Central banks have already demonstrated the operational tools required to defend fixed exchange rates. They buy and sell reserve assets, establish swap lines, provide emergency liquidity and coordinate interventions during periods of financial stress. The BIS records how central banks used mutual financial support and coordinated monetary actions throughout the development of the international monetary system. During the Bretton Woods era, central-bank cooperation was directly connected to defending fixed exchange rates and maintaining gold convertibility. The technology would be new, but the monetary operations would follow established precedents.

An IMF or BIS role would therefore be institutional rather than technical. Neither organization needs to control the XRP Ledger to establish reserve rules, capital requirements, audit standards, custody arrangements and settlement procedures. Central banks or authorized financial institutions would hold the assets and perform interventions. XRPL would record transfers and provide the exchange infrastructure. The peg would exist because recognized institutions guarantee conversion, not because validators vote to assign XRP a gold price.

Pegging XRP Directly May Create a Monetary Conflict

The strongest objection is economic rather than technological. XRP currently trades as a freely floating global asset with a fixed maximum supply and no central monetary authority. A permanent gold peg would replace that market-driven price discovery with an administratively defended conversion rate. XRP holders would no longer own an asset whose value rises freely against gold because every sustained increase above the target would trigger additional selling from the reserve operator. The system would gain stability but sacrifice much of the scarcity-driven upside expected by long-term investors.

A peg would also require someone to accumulate control over enough XRP liquidity to defend the target. Ripple’s escrow holdings represent one potential inventory source, but those holdings belong to a private company and are governed by Ripple’s release strategy rather than an international monetary mandate. Transferring XRP into a sovereign or multilateral reserve framework would require contracts, regulatory approvals, custody arrangements and political agreement. Governments would also need to determine whether XRP represented a reserve asset, settlement instrument, commodity-linked claim or monetary liability. These legal definitions would determine capital treatment and redemption rights.

The gold ratio presents another unresolved problem. A peg requires a declared conversion rate, such as 1 XRP equaling 1 gram of gold or 1 XRP equaling 0.001 troy ounces. Choosing the ratio would immediately redistribute wealth because the official value could differ substantially from the market price before the peg. Setting the rate too high would invite holders to redeem XRP for underpriced gold until the reserves were depleted. Setting it too low would cause the operator to accumulate XRP while selling gold-linked claims too cheaply. A credible conversion rate would need to reflect the available gold reserves, the quantity of XRP participating in the system and the expected demand for redemption.

These constraints explain David Schwartz’s position on the subject. His argument was not that mathematics or the XRP Ledger prevents someone from attempting a gold peg. His objection concerned the absence of an obvious reason for an institution to accept the cost and limitations involved. Technical possibility and economic desirability are separate questions. A government can defend almost any exchange rate temporarily if it controls enough reserves, but maintaining that rate permanently requires the peg to serve a monetary purpose greater than the cost of defending it.

The More Plausible Gold-XRP Architecture

The more credible structure does not require XRP itself to represent gold. Regulated custodians can issue fully reserved gold tokens on the XRP Ledger, with each token redeemable for a specific quantity of audited bullion. Those tokens can trade against XRP through XRPL order books and automated market makers. Banks can use XRP as a neutral bridge when exchanging gold-backed tokens, fiat-backed tokens and other tokenized assets. XRP remains liquid and independent, while gold provides the collateral layer.

This arrangement preserves the characteristics that make XRP useful for settlement. A bridge asset must remain available across multiple markets and denominations because its purpose is to connect assets that do not trade efficiently against each other. Pegging XRP exclusively to gold would import gold’s price behavior into every XRP transaction and reduce XRP’s independence as a liquidity instrument. Allowing gold tokens to trade through XRP achieves the benefits of gold-backed digital value without forcing the bridge asset itself into a fixed conversion regime. The XRP Ledger becomes the market infrastructure while issuers remain responsible for the underlying collateral.

A broader reserve basket can use the same architecture. Institutions can issue tokens representing gold, currencies, government securities or other high-quality liquid assets, then connect them through XRP liquidity. The IMF’s SDR proves that a reserve reference can derive its value from several components rather than one commodity. An institutional settlement system could therefore use XRP as the transfer asset while measuring collateral or capital against a basket containing gold, major currencies and sovereign debt. That would make XRP indirectly supported by reserve assets without creating a rigid one-to-one gold peg.

The first stage was never XRP adoption. Ripple’s priority was building the infrastructure capable of supporting institutional settlement on a global scale. Every major financial network began with infrastructure before usage. SWIFT first established its messaging network, Visa built its payment rails, and Fedwire created its settlement infrastructure before becoming critical components of the financial system. Ripple followed the same approach by developing the XRP Ledger, a blockchain specifically engineered to move value quickly, securely, and at extremely low cost while maintaining continuous availability. The objective was not to attract retail speculation but to create infrastructure capable of supporting institutional transactions measured in billions and eventually trillions of dollars.

Financial institutions cannot simply move critical payment flows onto technology that has never been tested under real-world conditions. Banks operate under strict regulatory requirements, central banks oversee monetary stability, and payment providers cannot tolerate prolonged outages or unpredictable settlement. Before any institution considers using a new settlement asset, it must first know that the underlying network has demonstrated years of reliable performance. Infrastructure always comes before adoption because confidence cannot exist without operational history.

Once the infrastructure had been established, Ripple shifted its attention toward institutional integration. This explains why the company spent years announcing partnerships instead of immediately pushing every institution toward XRP settlement. Those partnerships were not designed to force instant adoption of the digital asset. Their purpose was to integrate Ripple’s technology into existing financial systems, establish relationships with the organizations responsible for moving money across borders, and demonstrate that the technology could operate alongside the current financial architecture without disrupting existing operations.

This distinction is often overlooked because many investors assume that every Ripple partnership automatically translates into XRP usage. That has never been Ripple’s strategy. Financial institutions adopt new technology gradually because regulatory approval, compliance requirements, internal testing, liquidity considerations, and operational risk all influence deployment decisions. Trust cannot be accelerated simply because a superior technology exists. Institutions need years of successful implementation before expanding their use cases, especially when those systems support international payments involving enormous amounts of capital.

The final stage depends on a much larger transformation taking place across global finance. Tokenization is gradually moving financial assets onto blockchain networks, allowing currencies, government bonds, equities, commodities, real estate, and countless other assets to exist in digital form. While the industry remains in its early stages, governments, financial institutions, and infrastructure providers are increasingly investing in tokenized markets because digital settlement offers significant improvements in efficiency, transparency, and automation compared with traditional financial systems.

As tokenization expands, settlement becomes the critical challenge. Representing assets digitally is only one part of the equation because those assets must still move between institutions quickly, securely, and at scale. Not every blockchain is capable of performing that role. Institutional settlement requires predictable transaction finality, deep liquidity, low operating costs, regulatory compatibility, continuous uptime, and the ability to process enormous transaction volumes without compromising performance. Only a limited number of blockchain networks have been designed with those requirements in mind.

This is where Ripple’s long-term strategy begins to make sense. Rather than waiting for tokenization to become mainstream before building infrastructure, the company spent years developing the XRP Ledger, integrating its technology into financial institutions, expanding liquidity, and establishing relationships throughout the financial sector. If tokenized finance continues growing over the coming decade, Ripple does not need to begin preparing at that point because much of the preparation has already been completed.

Forcing banks to adopt a digital asset before they trust the infrastructure would have dramatically slowed adoption. Ripple lowered the barrier to entry by allowing institutions to integrate its technology first while leaving XRP as an optional settlement asset. Once trust, liquidity, and regulation matured, the transition to on-demand liquidity became significantly easier because the institutional relationship already existed.

Before looking at wallet distribution, we need to understand the supply. Stellar currently has approximately 50 billion XLM in total supply, with around 34.2 billion XLM considered circulating as of July 2026. This distinction matters because the Stellar Development Foundation still controls lumens under its mandate that are intended to be distributed over time to support the development and adoption of the network. Unlike Bitcoin, no additional XLM will be created through mining, and the network’s former inflation mechanism was discontinued in 2019.

The first important number is approximately 1,000 XLM. Recent 2026 wallet-distribution estimates have placed the amount required to enter the top 10% somewhere between roughly 800 and 1,300 XLM, depending on the exact date of the snapshot and the methodology being used. Since these thresholds constantly move as accounts are created, closed, funded, or emptied, I think using 1,000 XLM as a practical benchmark makes more sense than pretending there is one perfectly precise number that never changes.

That statistic immediately tells us something important about the average Stellar account. You do not need hundreds of thousands of dollars to rank above most addresses on the network because a significant percentage of Stellar accounts contain extremely small balances. One analysis from 2025 found that roughly 90% of XLM holders owned fewer than 100 XLM, although wallet statistics should always be treated carefully because one person can control multiple addresses while an exchange address may represent thousands or even millions of customers.

The chart below illustrates exactly why wallet statistics should always be interpreted carefully. The top addresses control a disproportionate share of the total XLM supply, but many of those wallets belong to exchanges and custodians rather than individual investors.

Imagine entering a football stadium with 100 Stellar wallet holders inside. Based on the recent estimates, owning approximately 1,000 XLM would place you somewhere among the ten largest balances in that stadium. That does not automatically make you wealthy because wallet ranking and purchasing power are completely different concepts, but it does show how little exposure the average account currently has to Stellar. Most people discussing XLM online may be emotionally invested in the project without owning enough for its success to materially change their financial situation.

At XLM’s recent price of approximately $0.19, accumulating 1,000 XLM would cost around $190. If XLM eventually reached $1, that position would be worth $1,000, while a $5 valuation would turn it into $5,000 and a $10 valuation would make it worth $10,000. That would represent an excellent return on a relatively small investment, but I would not personally describe it as generational wealth. It is enough to gain meaningful exposure and apparently enough to place an account close to the top 10%, but it probably isn’t enough to completely transform your financial future unless XLM reaches valuations that would require an enormous market capitalization.

The next number I would focus on is 10,000 XLM because this is where the potential outcome begins becoming materially relevant. At $1 per XLM, that position would be worth $10,000. At $3, it becomes $30,000, while $5 would produce a value of $50,000 and $10 would take the position to $100,000. Depending on where you live and your current financial situation, $100,000 could eliminate debt, provide the deposit for a property, fund a business, or create the foundation for an investment portfolio that continues producing income for many years.

Let me give you a very simple example. Imagine tomorrow you inherited an oil field that still had billions of dollars worth of oil underground. Would your first instinct really be to sell the land to the highest bidder, or would you rather lease the rights to companies that know how to extract the oil while paying you a percentage of the profits year after year? For most people the answer is obvious. The real value isn’t simply owning the land. The real value comes from the cash flow that asset can generate over time. That’s exactly how I look at utility digital assets.

Most investors still treat every cryptocurrency exactly the same way, and I think that’s a huge mistake. A speculative asset and a utility asset should never be analyzed using the same framework because they’re solving completely different problems. Speculative assets depend almost entirely on finding someone willing to pay a higher price tomorrow. Utility assets derive their value from solving real-world problems that businesses and institutions are prepared to pay for. When XRP eventually becomes part of the plumbing of the financial system, constantly asking whether you should sell at three dollars or five dollars misses the entire point of the investment thesis.

This is why I don’t spend much time thinking about arbitrary price targets. Imagine owning Apple stock and deciding to sell simply because the share price reached a certain number, without paying any attention to whether Apple was still expanding its market share, increasing its revenue, or selling more products every year. That wouldn’t make much sense. A much more intelligent approach would be to evaluate how the underlying business is performing instead of focusing on a random number on a chart. I believe the same logic applies to utility assets.

The signal I’m watching has nothing to do with a specific XRP price. I’m watching adoption. The day central banks and commercial banks begin using Automated Market Makers with XRP, the day Ripple’s escrow starts operating at scale within that ecosystem, and the day we begin seeing real institutional liquidity flowing through these networks is the day I’ll know utility has actually arrived. That tells me infinitely more than any technical analysis pattern ever could because price follows adoption, not the other way around.

One thing I think many investors forget is that we’re still operating inside a speculative market. The legacy financial system hasn’t disappeared overnight, and the new infrastructure hasn’t fully replaced it yet. Until that transition actually takes place, exchanging utility assets for depreciating fiat currencies doesn’t seem particularly attractive to me. You’re potentially swapping ownership in tomorrow’s financial infrastructure for money that central banks continue creating at an increasing pace.

That doesn’t mean trading is wrong. Plenty of investors successfully trade portions of their portfolio and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that strategy. What doesn’t fit my investment philosophy is selling one hundred percent of my long-term holdings because I think the chart might retrace over the next few months. This channel has always been about identifying utility before the rest of the market recognizes it, not trying to predict every short-term price movement.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is surprisingly simple. I would much rather watch what central banks, commercial banks, and major financial institutions are doing than listen to another content creator drawing trend lines on a chart. Institutions ultimately determine whether these technologies succeed because they’re the ones capable of deploying them at global scale. If they’re building liquidity around utility assets, that’s where my attention is going to be.

This is also why I don’t believe retail investors are the driving force behind XRP’s long-term valuation. The success or failure of this investment thesis doesn’t depend on millions of people buying a few thousand XRP each. It depends on whether these technologies solve a real problem for the financial system. Apple’s stock doesn’t appreciate because investors keep buying Apple shares. It appreciates because Apple continues selling products and services that millions of people use every single day. Utility assets should be evaluated using exactly the same mindset.

Personally, I’ve always believed Ripple’s escrow has likely been allocated with future institutional adoption in mind. If that assumption turns out to be correct, many institutions may never need to purchase enormous quantities of XRP on the open market because Ripple could simply lease access to portions of its escrow while earning ongoing revenue from the infrastructure itself. I can’t prove that’s exactly how the model will work, but it’s one explanation that would make economic sense if XRP reaches valuations where outright purchases become increasingly difficult.

For me, the conclusion is straightforward. My strategy isn’t built around reaching a particular number on a chart. I’ll be paying attention to the moment Ripple’s escrow is actively working, institutional AMMs are generating real cash flows, and utility becomes measurable rather than theoretical. When that happens, I’ll decide whether monetizing part of my portfolio makes sense. Until then, I have very little interest in exchanging ownership of what could become critical financial infrastructure for a currency that continues losing purchasing power every single year.

A few green candles don’t change the broader market structure overnight, and from a technical perspective, Bitcoin still has several important hurdles to overcome before we can confidently call this correction over.

One of the reasons I like trading SHX is that it also makes sense as a long-term investment. Stronghold isn’t a meme coin or a narrative driven by hype. The company is building payment infrastructure, tokenization solutions, and financial products designed for real-world adoption, with SHX sitting at the center of its ecosystem.

That gives us a meaningful advantage as traders. We can enter the position looking for a swing trade, but if the market takes longer than expected or the setup is invalidated in the short term, we’re not left holding an asset we fundamentally don’t believe in. Instead, we simply transition from a trade into a long-term accumulation, allowing time for the underlying thesis to play out.

That’s exactly how I approach SHX. I trade the volatility, but I’m equally comfortable owning the asset if the market decides to make me more patient than I initially planned.

For the past few months, SHX has been in a clear downtrend. Rather than forcing trades in a weakening market, I chose to stay patient, which is why I haven’t shared any new SHX trade ideas recently.

During this correction, SHX retraced from roughly $0.03 to around $0.0036, a decline of nearly 88%, bringing price back into the same accumulation zone that previously preceded major rallies.
