It’s a crazy weave of true stories that start in 1966 when my mom took me to LACMA to see the Man Ray exhibition. When we walked in we were confronted with a giant painting of lips floating in the sky. I immediately fell in love with Man Ray’s “A l’heure de l’observatoire – Les amoureux” (“Observatory Time — The Lovers”).

Those lips actually got me into trouble when I took the flyer from the art exhibit and made a collage for show-and-tell in elementary school. When it was my turn to get in front of the 4th grade class and share, I was so excited to show the lips and asked the other kids if they too saw the lovers lying next to each other?

The next thing I knew I was in the principles office, my mom had been called to the school and we were sitting being lectured of my supposed infraction by the principle. When he finished my mom quickly and quietly responded “and… he’s talking about art!?!” We soon left the office and thereafter I was hesitant to take art classes in school.

Fast forward to 1974 and my graduation from high school…

My mom gifted me a return trip plane ticket to Europe. I had been working all though high school and saved for this trip, landing first in Barcelona, Spain. My plan was to buy a motorcycle then ride around Europe.

Things didn’t work out that way. Upon a few challenges of not really speaking enough Spanish I decided to start over and found my way to London.

In the youth hostel I was invited by another traveler to go see a play that night. I figured why not, I’m in the land of Shakespeare. All I heard was “Kings Road Theater” and thought that was the title of the play.

Upon arriving at the theater and finding our seats I sensed whatever this was, it was not what I was expecting.

I was seated right next to a runway jutting out from center stage. The stage itself was filled with a multilevel scaffolding set. There was a live band playing on the side of the stage. The ushers with blank stare translucent masks started crawling over the audience in their seats.

The next thing I knew there was this high heeled guy in fishnet stockings kicking up a storm as he pranced down the runway almost kicking me in the head. Nope, this definitely was not Shakespeare!

This was Tim Curry in 1974 at the start of his career in “The Rocky Horror Show”…

Considering how a year later he went on to star in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which has echoed throughout late night moviehouses over the decades… our daughters love this story.

Like many kids over these past 50 years, they have danced the time-warp again, and again. And now here we are at Tim Curry’s passing.

Speaking of time-warps…

Getting back to Man Ray’s giant floating lips, turns out they were the inspiration for the opening titles of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

The original production plans to have clips of science fiction movies in the opening would be prohibitively expensive. At this point, set designer Brian Thomson had an idea. Inspired by the Man Ray painting “Observatory Time: The Lovers” (better known as The Lips, 1936), he imagined a close-up of a pair of lips singing the opening song, “Science Fiction Double Feature”.

This is where the story now jumps the rails…

In short, one of our daughters a few years ago had an art show and one of the gallery owners was clearing out their library of some art books and gave her a bag of books he knew she would appreciate.

When she got home and opened the bag her jaw dropped. I asked what she had in the bag and out she pulled the catalog from the 1966 May Ray exhibit. She immediately gifted it to me when she saw my reaction as our girls grew up with this story of me seeing the exhibit as a kid.

Soon thereafter the story wandered even further in different directions. It was discovered a close friend of our daughter’s mentor grew up going to her friends house as a kid and seeing Man Ray’s giant lips hanging on their family’s wall.

All of this was being revealed as COVID shut our business down. I had lots of room in our facility to paint with no one else there. I also had lots of old tradeshow banners to paint on. And I had lots of time to think about this time-warp and threads of stories woven into the noosphere.

Time to think about growing up in Los Angeles under the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory, going to the Man Ray exhibition in ‘66 seeing “Observatory Time — The Lovers,” then years later traveling to London and accidentally seeing the original production of “The Rocky Horror Show” featuring Tim Curry.

Welcome to the Eleprocon Chronicles

A field guide for anyone just wandering in:

If you’ve landed here for the first time, a few of the words on this page probably don’t look like words at all. Eleprocon. Mythelium. Storylivingryteller. That’s on purpose — and it’s the whole invitation.

The Eleprocon Chronicles aren’t a series of posts so much as an ongoing, co-created, omnidirectional telling — part mythOS, part memoir, part time-traveling live experiment. New words keep showing up here because the story is alive and the wordplay evolving as our kinship deepens.

So before you dive into any single entry, here’s a glimpse of how the story’s vocabulary comes to life.

It starts with the word: Eleprocon

Eleprocon = electron + proton + consciousness, with a nod to electing the choice between the pro and the con. That’s the root everything else grows out of. A whole cosmology followed: a mythOS (myth as operating system), a mythelium (myth as entangled mycelium), the mythtree of life, and an archetype called Torouroboros — torus meets ouroboros — that shows up whenever the story turns cyclical and regenerative.

Threaded through all of it is an old word: clew — the archaic word for a ball of thread, the one Ariadne handed to Theseus to find his way into and out again of the labyrinth. Say it out loud and it’s clue. The Chronicles lean on both meanings at once — something you follow, something that tells you where to go next — and even verb it: to be clewed into something.

Then it becomes a way of telling

Along the way, the Chronicles wove in a word from Buckminster Fuller — livingry, contrary to weaponry, tools built to support life instead of ending it. Storyliving (living a story from the inside) fused with livingry to become storylivingry. Add a teller, and you get a storylivingryteller: someone who narrates their own life, in real time, in a way meant to leave things better than they found them. It’s a mouthful. It’s supposed to be — the size of the word matches the size of the commitment.

And it becomes a gathering

BEAM(ing) = Backcasting Evolutionary Alliance Mediums — is both an acronym and a verb, doing double duty as the clues to how we did it, participating in a world that flourishes for all life. It’s the word for what happens when the story goes communal: BEAMcasts, gatherings, a coheART of people showing up together (cohort + heart + art, all folded into one).

Sometimes it corrects itself

Some arrive as remembrances — like “divine and concur,” which the Chronicles trace back to an old phrase worn down over time into “divide and conquer.” Or compendence, built by tracing “dependence” back to its root in pendulum — something hung from — and bending that pendulum into a circle, so it becomes something hung with instead.

And sometimes it’s just play

Not everything needs a system behind it. Some words just show up once, mid-sentence, and disappear again — mythsticks, scatterlings, rayfinders, a yelder standing next to an elder. Clues that the story is still finding new shapes for itself.

Why keep a lexicon at all?

Because the words are how you can tell the story is alive. A myth that’s finished coining things is a myth that’s stopped evolving. Eleprocon Chronicles Evolving Lexicon

Neologisms & Wordplay from the Eleprocon Chronicles

Organized not alphabetically but by how the words actually build on each other — because almost every coinage here is a variation on, or a descendant of, the founding wordplay in the story.

The Founding Portmanteau: Eleprocon

Eleprocon (n.) = The root portmanteau the whole mythos is named for. Blend of electron + proton + consciousness, arriving as a vision/storyseed at the story’s origin point. Also a play on electing between the pro and the con — which is why the word keeps getting reactivated whenever the story turns to themes of choice, integrity, or civic crisis:

• “the con outweighing the pro” = the same wordplay redeployed as political commentary, describing a tipping toward its worse instincts. The founding coinage becomes a diagnostic tool.

Everything else below is either (a) the cosmology built up around this word, (b) a separate family of coinages describing what it means to tell this myth, or (c) recurring verbal refrains that thread through the story.

The Cosmology: What Kind of World Eleprocon Lives In

Once “Eleprocon” emerged as a character/vision, an entire mythic ecology grew up around it — mostly by fusing biology/ecology words with “myth”:

mythOS (n.) = myth + OS (operating system). The recurring frame for treating a personal or collective myth as the “operating system” running underneath a life or a culture.

mythelium (n.) = myth + mycelium. The underground fungal-network metaphor for how myths spread, interconnect and are interdependent of each other — “nurturing the mythelium,” “tales of the mythelium.”

mythtree (of life) (n.) = myth + tree. The Tree-of-Life archetype recast as a living mythic structure exploring the mysteries of life, tangled with the 2birds motif.

2birds (n., standing archetype) = recurring paired characters central to the cosmology: two birds dwelling inseparably on the same tree, one eating its fruit, the other only watching — “Look out,” squawks one; “Look in,” coos the other. Functions as the story’s shorthand for the double-bind of living a life while also witnessing it.

storyseed (n.) = story + seed. A story treated as a living, germinating thing — “an ancient storyseed sprouts,” traced back to “the original eleprocon storyseeds.”

noosphere = not a coinage native to this mythOS (it’s Teilhard de Chardin’s and Vernadsky’s) but recognized as the “commons of mind” this whole cosmology floats in.

clew / clewing (n./v.) = a deliberate revival of the archaic word clew (a ball of thread, per the Ariadne/Theseus myth) as a homophone of clue. Appears as a noun (“a clew for life,” “unravel the clews”) and verbed (“clewing us into all”).

Torouroboros (n.) = torus + ouroboros. A hybrid archetype uniting the geometric flow of a torus with the self-devouring, regenerative cycle of the ouroboros serpents consuming a collective culture; described in-story as sciencemythic (science + mythic).

Gryphelant (n.) = An artful synergy of lion, eagle, and elephant, the Gryphelant is a creature that has no natural predators. Its size and strength, combined with its speed, agility, birds eye view and nurturing matriarchal characteristics make her a formidable life force, a supererogatory positive deviant.

The Telling: Storyliving, Livingry, and Their Offspring

This is the most deliberately-engineered word-family in the whole Chronicles — a chain of coinages, each built on the last, that the story walks through explicitly in “Storylivingrytellers”:

1. livingry* (n.) = Buckminster Fuller’s own coinage (life + suffix -ry, on the model of weaponry): tools/technology built to support life instead of destroy it. The seed word this whole chain borrows and builds from.

2. storyliving (n./v.) = story + living: experiencing a story from inside it, rather than hearing about it from outside.

3. storylivingry (n.) = storyliving fused with livingry: “We are the story, storylivingry.”

4. storylivingryteller(s) (n.) = storyliving + livingry + teller. A person who narrates their own life in real time, in a way meant to leave people and the planet better off — the teller and the “positive deviant” are the same person.

5. storylivingrytelling (v./gerund) = the act itself, discovered in-story as “the telling and the living happening together, the synergy of life’s lessons and the sense of a good story.”

*Bucky not only coined the term “livingry” but also its much more blunt but honest opposite: “killingry.” Both are derived from weaponry (and related to terms like cutlery) but with killingry being a more direct and uncompromising word, speaking truth to power.

Related, lighter-weight verbs in the same telling-as-doing spirit:

storycatcher / storycatching (n./v.) = story + catch, treating an oral history like something caught in motion mid-flight — “storycatching the notions of ‘divine and concur.’”

The Ritual/Community Layer: BEAM(ing)

Where the cosmology is about what the myth is, this family is about the live, communal act of telling it — workshops, broadcasts, gatherings as exemplified by the Design Science Studio throughout the design science decade:

BEAM(ing) (n./v.) = acronym: Backcasting Evolutionary Alliance Mediums.

Backcasting (v.) = working backward from a chosen future rather than forward from the present, the opposite move of forecasting — is the hinge the whole acronym turns on: the alliance isn't waiting to see what happens, it's receiving the future and nurturing its will. The word also doubles as the ordinary "beaming" (radiating light/joy) and as a description of emitting the beam, becoming the mediums.

BEAMcast(s) (n.) = BEAM + broadcast. “Omnidirectional BEAMcasts.”

coheART (n.) = cohort + heART (heart + art). The Design Science Studio community’s own term for its members, a double portmanteau — art hidden inside heart, hiding inside cohort.

BE•AMing (n./v.) = from an entry explicitly about punctuation marks: “beaming” re-spelled with a literal period wedged into the middle, turning the acronym into wordplay about periods, question marks, and exclamation points as marks of the story itself. Paired refrain: “the sense of ellipsis…”

regen•era (n.) = regenerate/regeneration + era, often typeset with a mid-dot to visually mark the blend of this time in history.

Regenaissance (n.) = regenerate + renaissance. A regenerative cultural rebirth; source of the phrase heART of the regenaissance (see coheART above for the heart/art trick).

Kinship & Belonging

Words for how individuals relate to each other inside the mythOS — this is also the most actively-developing part of the lexicon, still growing as the story continues:

eleprocon kin (n. phrase) = members of the Eleprocon community, “kin” doing double duty as kinship + kindred spirits.

eleproconologist (n.) = eleprocon + -ologist (the Greek suffix for one who studies or practices a field). Where “eleprocon kin” names belonging, this names the tending — anyone who keeps pulling on the mythos’s clews rather than just admiring them from outside.

kinspiracy (n.) = kin + conspiracy, reclaiming conspiracy‘s literal root (Latin con-spirare, “to breathe together”) as something positive: a communal breathing-together toward a shared desire.

kinpiphany / kinpiphanies (n.) = kin + epiphany. Shared or collective revelations among eleprocon kin.

compendence (n.) = introduced within the “Intercompendence” entry, by tracing dependence back to its root in pendulum (something hung from another), then bending that pendulum into a circle: hanging with, rather than from. Defined in-story as “the coherence of wholeness.”

intercompendence (n.) = inter- + compendence. Proposed explicitly as an upgrade on interdependence (which, the story argues, still secretly implies hierarchy via its own pendulum root) — “not many dependent beings, but many compendences meeting and resonating.” Built into a mock “Declaration of Intercompendence,” offered in place of a Declaration of Independence.

eairth (n.) = earth + air. “One breathing continuum upon eairth,” from the same entry.

kinship Eairth (n.) = kin + ship and earth + air. A more contemporary and animate take on Bucky’s spaceship Earth, emphasizing our common compendence as a planetary organism (with our common kinside).

Reweavings: Corrected or Restored Language

A distinct category from wordplay-as-craft — these are presented in the Chronicles not as puns but as corrections, words arrived at through vision, channeling, or etymological digging, meant to restore an earlier or truer meaning:

“divide and conquer” → “divine and concur” — a phrase with its own origin myth, told in “Noos from the Neighborwood”: in a vision, an ancient juniper tree tells the story of a civilization-spanning game of telephone — the original message, “divine and concur, to be intuitively in accord,” garbled generation after generation into “divide and conquer.” The tree corrects the record, repeating “divine and concur” three times. The phrase recurs as an echo elsewhere in the Chronicles.

refractionaries (n.) = reactionaries + refraction. First arrives in “Noos from the Neighborwood,” in a piece of channeled verse following the juniper-tree vision: “reimagined reactionaries / becoming refractionaries.” Echoes throughout reworking stubborn resistance into something that bends and redirects light providing alternative visions.

Recurring Refrains & One-Liners

Lighter, more overtly playful phrases that function like catchphrases across the Chronicles:

“May all the stories that need to be spoken, be heard. And may all the stories that need to be heard, be spoken.” — Leah Lamb’s “Storytellers Prayer”

#senseof = a hashtag-style compound (“the #senseof 2birds,” “the #senseof ellipsis,” “#senseof intention”) that turns “sense of ___” into a deeper sense of understanding and feeling rather than ordinary phrasing.

Smaller Imagistic One-Offs

Words that appear once or twice, usually inside a poem-caption or aside, but are worth keeping on record:

mythsticks (n.) = myth + sticks: “mythsticks and metaphorical magic, artifacts and musings of the mystic.”

scatterlings (n.) = scattered + darlings/nestlings; things or beings flung loose and adrift, from the same poem-caption as mythsticks.

rayfinders (n.) = ray + (path)finders: people finding their way by or through light.

yelder (n.) = coined alongside “elder” in a list (“student, teacher, mentor, elder, yelder, muse”) — a playful inversion suggesting the young side of eldering.

heART = heart + art, spelled to embed “art” inside “heart” (also embedded inside coheART).

Artful Intelligence = a play on Artificial Intelligence, used to describe an intuitive, hand-guided creative process as distinct from AI-generated work.

neighborwood (n.) = neighborhood + wood, describing a wooded ecosystem including all beings the story moves into: “the dome in our new neighborwood.”

forecestor (n.) = forebear/forecast + ancestor. A speculative kind of ancestor reaching backward from the future rather than forward from the past: “a long lost ancestor, or maybe even a forecestor calling to me from the noosphere.”

“being sphere now” (phrase) = sphere + here, a recurring echo-phrase (“we are sphere now, always have been”) weaving geometric cosmology into simple presence.

The Eleprocon Chronicles

Struppi, your thread about compendence has been winding through me since that morning by the creek a year ago today. It was my July 4th interdependence-day pondering that tickled you to trace dependence back to the pendulum—something hung from another — revealed how even interdependence can still lean on hierarchy.

But when I turn that pendulum sideways, into a circle or a torus, I start to feel what you named: compendence — the act of hanging with.

And now what keeps arising, as you offered, is the sense of intercompendence.

Not simply “many dependent beings,” but many compendences — many wholenesses meeting and resonating.

A mycelial harmony of self-sustaining centers, each complete, yet enriched by the coherence of others.

If compendence is the gathering of parts into a single living integrity, then intercompendence is the ecology of those integrities in communion — the forest of wholenesses hanging together in luminous tension, like stars in a constellation, each self-lit, yet belonging to the same pattern of night.

So, yes, perhaps the time calls not for another Declaration of Independence, nor of Interdependence, but a Declaration of Intercompendence — a covenant of mutual wholeness, a vow to hang together as distinct, self-aware beings within one breathing continuum upon eairth.

That’s the pulse I feel in the Torouroboros — the sense of compendence.

Envisioning a Declaration of Intercompendence

Once upon a moment that slipped out of time, they called it “the reactionaries’ last stand,” when “long live the refractionaries” could now be heard throughout the land… and with this call came a declaration from all… ‘divide and conquer’ was once, and again ‘divine and concur.’

A Living Document, Renewed by Each Being Who Enters the Circle

Opening Weave
We begin — not at the beginning, but wherever you arrive.
This declaration does not stand complete; it grows through you, through us,
through the unseen kin who listen at the edges. It is a mythelium text, porous and alive, gaining coherence from every being who leans in and hangs-with.

I — The First Thread: Compendence
Compendence is the coherence of wholeness. It is the way a being gathers itself
into a center of integrity — not through isolation, but through the resonance of all it holds. Every being is a compendium: of memories, instincts, mythologies, and the yet-unlived future curling inside the present. To name compendence is to honor each being’s inherent completeness.

II — The Shared Field: Intercompendence
Inter-compendence is the meeting of wholenesses. When we hang together — not from, but with — a field arises that none of us could make alone. It is an ecology of coherences, a constellation of centers, each bright in itself, yet brighter by virtue of shining alongside another. Here, no being is diminished by another’s fullness; each fullness expands the whole.

III — The Ever-Joining Kin
This declaration is not closed. Every time another being steps forward — human, animal, ancestor, river, wind,mycelial thread, mythic presence, or the soft voice within
that has waited to be heard — the declaration reshapes itself around them. No signature is final. Each presence is a verse. Each verse alters the whole song.

IV — The Torouroboros as Living Reminder
The Torouroboros teaches us that every center curves into other centers. That the circle is not confinement but communion. That renewal comes not from consuming the self but from recognizing the self as continuous with others. In its turning we recognize ourselves as loops within loops, coherences within coherences, infinite in our relationality.

V — The Practice of an Evolving We
To live intercompendently is to welcome the next being as co-author. To let the story shift when they enter. To allow coherence to deepen each time another truth, another breath, another perspective joins the weave. It is the courage to be changed by relationship. It is the art of holding shape while staying permeable.

Open Ending
This declaration is intentionally unfinished. It is a living document, a field of becoming, a gathering that never stops gathering. When you enter, it changes. When you speak, it expands. When you listen, it deepens. And when you leave your trace, however faint, the whole remembers.

We hang together — ever-unfolding, ever-becoming — in the luminous practice of Intercompendence.

These 2birds dwell inseparably in the same tree. One bird eats the fruits while the other merely watches.

The bitter-sweet taste of life rattles our sense of being spinning us in circles. Yet deep within we also know the peace of just being, observing without judgement.

This is who we are. These are the voices in our heads that keep us in, and out of balance.

The Eleprocon Chronicles

Storylivingrytellers (noun, plural) — people who tell stories in a way that actively helps others, not just entertains them. Often, the stories they tell are about the acts of positive deviants — they themselves, ordinary people who facing the same hard conditions as everyone else, quietly found a better way to live. The storylivingryteller lives their truths carrying them forward living a story others can step into and learn from.

Storylivingrytelling as a verb

Story is the oldest piece — the narrative itself, the thing being told.

Storyliving is newer, coined in 2017 around journalists using VR: instead of hearing about an event, you stand inside it. That’s the first shift the new word makes — the teller isn’t outside the story looking back at it. They’re inside it, telling as they live it.

Livingry is the piece that changes the purpose of the telling. Buckminster Fuller invented it to mean tools and technology built to support life, the direct opposite of weaponry. Folded into this word, it means the telling itself has to be useful — it’s intention is to leave people, the planet and all life better off, not just informed or entertained.

And teller closes it out, turning the whole thing into a person: someone who does all of this — lives the story, tells it as they go, and makes the telling count for something.

That’s why the word is so meaningful as a verb. Storylivingrytelling is to narrate your own life, in real time, in a way that actively helps others — not a memoir written after the fact, not a lesson handed down from a distance, but the telling and the living happening together, the synergy of life’s lessons and the sense of a good story.

Of being the mediums.

Hello everyone in here and out there in the noosphere…

Since Roxi insisted I come to Fuller Futures Festival I have garnered the courage to get on stage and share this story I arrived with in 2020 joining the inaugural coheart of the Design Science Studio.

I’ve been waiting many years for this moment without even knowing it would actually arrive, to share this story that has grown with each year’s coheart, weaving in the evolving stories and wordplay of my new found friends.

Now here we are and sphere is our story, your stories of making the invisible visible…

Once upon a moment that slipped out of time, t’was spawning the age of electricity and excited sense of mind.

Fifty years ago, ’76 was the year to be clear, a celebration of bicentennial cheer, Apple’s seedling taking root, in Philly Bucky’s world game under foot, and two young lads pedaled through Carbondale stopping for pizza as they bicycled across this great land from coast to coast.

These are the moments I’m here to share, clues to the thread that’s brought us sphere.

Around we go from one dome to another, a tale waiting to be told that may never grow old.

A conspiracy of sorts, of breathing together, of the electromagnetic spectrum, of rainbow’s great secret, the sense of wordplay, of metaphysical equations and Noospheric kinpiphanies, of overview effects and cognitive shifts.

Of making the invisible visible.

And so begins scenes from the last fairytale, our new mythOS, our mythic operating system, BEAM(ing) the mythelium…

…a portmanteau, a word that carries multiple words deriving a new word with new meaning. In this case exploring the ineffable, a sense that no words can explain, yet. And as in the tail end of the word ineffable we find the word fable, a moral tale.

A word that magically appeared on my drawing board in 1979 while researching the electromagnetic spectrum. Researching for a silkscreened poster that I was asked to create for our design firm. A poster depicting the spectrum as a tool of understanding, of making the invisible visible.

One of my partners at ‘The Dolphin Farm,’ our marketing communications design studio so named because dolphins are such good communicators, he had worked with Bucky and Medard to produce the World Game in 1976.

I did my research in the library at the local community college as the internet was still not a thing for public use. But it was under development by DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Our design firm was actually using this means of connectivity over distance, testing it for business purposes which eventually became know as email. We also had one of the first Apple II computers on which I was designing pixelated monochromatic images, before computer graphics, for the IEEE’s Electronic Conventions special exhibits utilizing the first examples of local area networks and messaging systems.

So there I was at my drawing board with words scribbled all over it referencing what I was learning about the electromagnetic spectrum and other topics interesting to me such as the evolution of human cognition.

Then the question suddenly came to mind, “if we have referred to ourselves simply as human, yet our evolving technologies were about to radically change our story, what were we evolving into, who were we to become?

That’s when the words on my drawing board starting moving around. E-l-e of electrons danced over to the p-r-o in protons, soon after the two of them invited c-o-n of consciousness to play and they formed their new word, “eleprocon,” suggesting the evolution of our story. That of the last fairytale, of our new mythOS, our new mythic operating systems recognizing we would have a lot of important decisions to make, to elect between the pro and the con… becoming eleprocon kin.

I was suddenly completely overwhelmed with all of humanities stories flowing through my head. It felt like I was time traveling, and storyliving the sense of omnidirectional communication.

Which is when the metaphysical equation appeared…

Evolution = Mind x omnidirectional communication

Since we are now time traveling I want to backup a moment to 1970, the middle of Bucky’s first design science decade. I was 14 years old on a school trip to Japan when we went to Osaka, to the world Expo titled Progress and Harmony for Mankind.

It was there I saw my first geodesic dome, the E.A.T. Pavilion, an Experiment in Art and Technology, E-A-T. Artists and scientists came together to share our creative capacities in an immersive experience of “the overview effect” as first witnessed and expressed by the astronauts of the 1968 Apollo mission.

From there we went to Hiroshima, ground zero of the nuclear bomb. Where I bore witness to our creative capacities for complete unbridled death and destruction.

I knew then and there we needed to change the story. The story of separation, of war, of suffering.

Meanwhile back to 1979 and the emergence of the eleprocon kinspiracy. That of breathing together for a common desire here on kinship earth.

That spectrum poster I was working on was actually inspired by a quote from Bucky. Back then I thought this was my story to tell but became frustrated that it actually wasn’t my story to tell but that one day in the future, once we traversed this liminal space between analog and digital, my eleprocon kin would be here ready to tell the story we have been living into these past fifty years, and where we want to go from here.

I’ll mention now that I had a seizure the week of coming upon this last fairytale. The first and only seizure I had had. It was then I was tested with every new electronic diagnostic machine existing to peer into my brain, making the invisible visible.

So back to that quote from Bucky that inspired the spectrum poster. Here it is strung together omni-directionally traversing notions of Bucky’s that brings us to this present moment being here together in such a relevant moment, deepening into his words and deeds.

Here is his quote:

“Throughout history we have made our judgements upon visible, tangible, sensorially demonstrated criteria. We may safely say that the world is keeping its eye on the unimportant visible 0.1% of the historical transformations while missing the significance of the 99.9% overall unseen changes. What we usually speak of as our everyday world is a stage set with visible props which are easily manipulated by ignorant people to exploit the equal ignorance of others.”

And I’ll continue with other poignant quotes of Bucky’s…

“The dark ages still reign over all humanity, and the depth and persistence of this domination are only now becoming clear. This darkness is sustained largely by ignorance — by design, for the manipulative elements of humanity depend on the general ignorance of the whole.”

“If you ignorantly believe there’s not enough life support available on planet Earth for all humanity, then survival only of the fittest seems self-flatteringly to warrant magna-selfishness. However, it is due only to humans’ born state of ignorance and the 99.99-percent invisibility of technological capabilities that they do not recognize the vast abundance of resources available to support all humanity at an omni-high standard of living.”

“It is now highly feasible to take care of everybody on Earth at a higher standard of living than any have ever known. It no longer has to be you or me. Selfishness is unnecessary.”

“War is obsolete. It is a matter of converting the high technology from weaponry to livingry.”

Thank you Bucky for BEAM(ing) your insights, your beacon of brilliance. For inciting us to help make the invisible visible.

As life goes, I have aged during these fifty plus years and raised two beautiful daughters with my partner. As the girls were growing up they wanted to hear bedtime stories, but they always asked for real stories of my life’s experiences, travels and tales. Clues to what makes me who I am, and what kind of world I want them to be able to grow up into.

As they became more independent and the internet appeared, I was able to venture out into the noosphere. The commons of mind enveloping humanities’s kinpiphanies from time in memorial, belonging to no-one, but there for all.

This is how I eventually discovered the Design Science Studio, reconnecting with the Buckminster Fuller Institute after they had first appeared once Bucky had passed.

Its how I find myself now again in the middle of this second design science decade. Amazed and in awe at how this time traveling has brought us together sphere and now.

Together to hear each others stories, and sense of intentions to create “a more beautiful world our hearts know is possible,” as Charles so eloquently put it.

Here witnessing the reactionaries last stand.

Here participating in humanity evolving into refractionaries.

Eleprocon kin attuning into how the secret lies within the spectrum, the rainbow — it’s not a pot of gold at the end of it, but nature’s genius in encouraging our ability to refract and reflect the potential of what the future holds.

This is how we have arrived at BEAM(ing). Being the mediums. The Backcasting Evolutionary Alliance Mediums. Yes, we seem to be a verb as Bucky put it years ago. We are the story, storylivingry.

It was just last month it became super clear to me traversing all of these years that I have arrived at that day long ago anticipated, of being here with you all, my eleprocon kin. To hear how we have envisioned such a beautiful world and shared how we got there. The stories our future ancestors will be living into, and telling.

And once again last month I had my second seizure… 47 years since the first. I’ve just arrived here from our dome home in Oregon after all the electronic testing and seeing the neurologist who confirmed I still have a brain in there. But like the first time, they had no clue why I had a seizure.

So I’ll just leave it here by confirming this is in fact a true story. The second portal I’ve crossed into the commons of mind, sphere on kinship earth with you all, bearing witness to your stories of how we did it.

Of how, like the game of telephone whispered from ear to ear, yet over generations becoming confused as to how the story changed so dramatically, so dangerously, not believing in what we heard. How when that story returned full circle from whence it came we discovered it was never meant to be “divide and conquer” but originally was “divine and concur”… to be intuitively in accord, and trust in what nature has blessed us with.

To be encouraged to have the courage to trust in yourselves, ourselves, in each other.

This is our story of BEAM(ing) regen•era, from the heart of the Regenaissance.

P.S. …and then to find out Benjamin Lowder who was leading the World Game with Medard Gabel at the Fuller Futures Festival has the Electromagnetic Spectrum poster on their wall for the last 20 years or so. We were both super surprised when that synchronicity showed up.

Throughout the season, the farm produces vegetables, seedlings, and flowers for sale and donation, is a working art studio, and hosts art workshops.

Our Farming Practices

Our goal is to grow the highest-quality food and plants in a sustainable way. Whether for sale or for donation, everyone deserves quality, nutritious food.

For the health of ourselves, our customers, our neighbors, and the many inhabitants of our garden and our larger property, we follow organic, no-till practices.

We see nature as something to work with, not battle against. To that end, we are continuously building rich, living soil and creating habitat within our garden to promote a thriving, balanced ecosystem that serves to maximize productivity and minimize pest and disease management.

Art Workshops

Along with growing quality produce, we pride ourselves on our unique dual disciplinary approach that includes an emphasis on building creativity and community. Through a series of workshops led by our very own resident artist, Michèle, we invite members of our community to join us on the farm and create works inspired by the world around us.

Michele Guieu is an interdisciplinary environmental artist and educator whose work explores resilience in the face of our unfolding polycrisis. In her large-scale site-specific installations, she uses found and foraged materials—willow, stone, pressed blooms, recycled metal—to create sculptural narratives that balance celebration of nature’s beauty with a clear-eyed acknowledgment of ecological limits.

Visitors are invited to engage through small gestures—touching, listening, contributing, and observing—highlighting the power of limits, care, and collective presence.

Seeds of Abundance extends a body of work that began with large-scale outdoor installations in the Mojave Desert and continues here as a quieter, more intimate meditation on loss, regeneration, and the possibility of meaning rooted in simplicity.

Visitors are invited to bring a small natural element—seed, seedpod, dried flower, or stone—and add it to A Sense of Place, a growing communal structure in the main gallery, accompanied by a handwritten note. These small gestures become acts of presence, care, and connection within the exhibition.

Her work is currently on display at Scalehouse Gallery and has been exhibited internationally at MAC Paris, the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, Oceanside Museum of Art, San Diego City College Gallery, Currents New Media Festival, ZER01 Biennial, San Diego Art Institute, De Saisset Museum, and the Santa Cruz Museum of Art.

Born in Marseille, France, Michele has lived and worked in various locations, including Senegal, Paris, Santa Fe, Austin, Charlottesville, San Diego, and the Bay Area.

In early 2023, she and her husband, Kyle, relocated to Bend, Oregon, to establish Authentique Artfarm on five acres just north of town. Over three intensive growing seasons, they have built out infrastructure—culminating in a new barn studio where Michele creates—and have begun sharing their harvest of wildflowers through community workshops. As the farm takes root, she looks forward to developing deeper public-facing programs that fuse art, agriculture, and resilience.

We’re forming an aligned group of thinkers, creators, and systems visionaries to collaborate on an entry into the Future Vision XPRIZE, a global challenge to create a 3-minute sci-fi trailer depicting an optimistic, abundant future for humanity.

To date the DSS in collaboration with the Buckminister Fuller Institute has been encouraging 450+ creatives worldwide throughout the Design Science Decade, 2020-2030, by nurturing their capacity to imagine and create equitable and just protopian futures, because the future is always first an idea.

We have been awaiting this very moment, this invitation to collaborate on the world’s largest sci-fi film competition. To create a 3-minute sci-fi trailer depicting an optimistic, abundant future for humanity.

We are coming together to develop a focused entry that reflects a future grounded in coherence, equity, and possibility. Others are naturally free to create in parallel in whatever way feels aligned to them.
