They're the ones we preach. The ones we quote. The ones we celebrate.

‎But if you look closely...The Bible spends far more time talking about the waiting than the winning.

‎

‎Lemme sight some examples.

‎David wasn't crowned king immediately after Samuel anointed him. Instead, he spent years running for his life from Saul.

‎Joseph didn't go from dreams to the palace overnight. There was a pit, slavery, false accusations, prison... and then, finally, the palace.

‎Abraham received a promise long before he held Isaac in his arms.

‎

‎Now, look at all these. ‎The promise came quickly. The fulfillment didn't.

‎Even Moses.

‎Before leading an entire nation out of Egypt, he spent forty years in the wilderness... as a shepherd.

‎

Forty years. Forty Solid years.

‎Imagine trying to explain that to today's generation.

‎

‎"So... what are you doing with your life?"

‎‎"Waiting."

‎‎We'd probably think something had gone terribly wrong.

‎

‎Because somewhere along the line, we've started believing that if nothing exciting is happening, then God must not be doing anything.

‎

‎But that's not how the Bible reads. God seems surprisingly comfortable with slow. He isn't intimidated by delays. He doesn't rush because we do. ‎Even Jesus, the Son of God, spent about thirty years in relative obscurity before beginning a public ministry that lasted only around three years.

‎

‎Think about that. The Saviour of the world wasn't in a hurry. ‎Yet here we are, panicking because we're twenty-something and feel like we're "behind." ‎‎Behind who? The internet?

‎Comparison has convinced us that speed is the same thing as purpose. But It isn't. ‎Some seeds grow in weeks. Others take years before anyone sees what's happening beneath the soil. Both are growing. One is just quieter.

‎Maybe that's what waiting is. ‎It is Not God's way of ignoring us, But God's way of preparing us.

‎Because here's something I've noticed. ‎God rarely gives people a platform before He gives them preparation.

‎‎Before David wore a crown, he learned how to be faithful in lonely fields. Before Joseph governed a nation, he learned integrity in places nobody wanted to be. Before Moses led millions, he learned dependence in a wilderness.

‎‎All these and more brought me to the conclusion, that, Preparation doesn't always look impressive. Sometimes it looks like ordinary days. The kind of days we often complain about. The kind we wish would end. But maybe those ordinary days are doing extraordinary work inside us.

‎The book of James tells us that the testing of our faith produces perseverance.

‎‎The book of Isaiah says those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.

‎The book of Romans also reminds us that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, and character produces hope.

‎‎It's almost as if God is more interested in who we're becoming than how quickly we're arriving.

‎

‎That's difficult to accept. Because we'd rather skip to the testimony.

We want the promotion without the process. ‎The crown without the cave. The palace without the prison. The promise without the patience.

‎But Scripture keeps showing us the same pattern, which is, Waiting. Growing. Trusting. ‎Then, in God's time, winning.

‎

‎Maybe waiting isn't the chapter between God's promises. Maybe waiting is part of the promise. Maybe God does some of His deepest work when it looks like He's doing the least.

‎So if life feels slow right now...If your prayers seem to be hanging in the air.....If everyone else appears to be moving while you're standing still....Don't assume heaven has forgotten your address.

‎The God who was faithful in David's waiting, Joseph's waiting, Abraham's waiting, Moses' waiting, and countless others has not suddenly changed His character.

‎

‎Sometimes the silence isn't empty. Sometimes it's where God is writing the part of your story that will make the victory worth reading.

‎And maybe that's why the Bible has more waiting than winning. Because God knows that while everyone celebrates the victory.

‎It's the waiting that shapes the person who eventually receives it.

‎

‎Till I write to you, again.

‎Emmanuel.

‎

Subscribe now

Cuddles and Healing.

He was shivering in his room, under the duvet, staring at the ceiling like it had answers.

The Emmanuel David.✯

He was shivering in his room, under the duvet, staring at the ceiling like it had answers.

His phone buzzed.

She: "Good afternoon, sleepyhead."

He forced a smile before answering the video call.

He: "Afternoon."

She frowned almost immediately.

She: "...Wait."

He tried to act normal.

He: "What?"

She leaned closer to her screen.

She: "Why do you look like that?"

He laughed weakly.

He: "Like what?"

She: "Don't do that."

Silence.

She kept staring.

His face looked pale. You don't have to stress yourself."

She: "Who said I'm stressing myself?"

He smiled.

She had already ended the call.

—

About forty minutes later...

A knock.

Very soft.

He dragged himself out of bed and opened the door.

She stood there with a small bag in one hand.

The first thing she did wasn't speaking.

She placed the back of her palm gently against his forehead.

"...You're still burning."

He didn't reply.

She looked at him for a second longer.

"You actually look terrible."

He laughed.

"...Thank you."

"I wasn't complimenting you."

"I know."

She walked inside.

The room smelled like medicine and sleep.

Water bottles.

Drug sachets.

A hoodie thrown over a chair.

She quietly arranged a few things while he watched her.

Then she turned back.

"So..."

"So?"

"How are you really feeling?"

He opened his mouth.

Closed it again.

Then shrugged.

"I don't know."

That answer somehow hurt her more.

Because sometimes "I don't know" means, I'm trying to be okay.

She sat beside him on the bed.

Neither of them spoke for a while.

It wasn't awkward.

Just...quiet.

The kind of quiet that doesn't ask for words.

He glanced at her.

"You know what I want?"

She raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

He scratched the back of his neck.

"...Can we cuddle?"

She stared at him.

Then laughed.

"You've been sick for three days and this is your prescription?"

He smiled for the first time that day.

"I think so."

She shook her head.

"You are unbelievable."

"But?"

"But come here."

He moved closer, slowly, careful not to put too much weight on her.

She wrapped her arms around him.

He rested his head against her shoulder.

No words.

Just warmth.

Outside, nothing had changed.

Inside...

Everything felt quieter.

His breathing slowly settled.

The constant shivering became less frequent.

His shoulders, which had been tense for days, finally relaxed.

She noticed.

"You've stopped shaking."

He nodded against her shoulder.

"...I know."

"Feeling better?"

"A little."

She smiled to herself.

"I didn't even do anything."

He chuckled softly.

"You came."

Another silence.

Comfortable.

Safe.

He closed his eyes.

"You know what's funny?"

"What?"

"I've taken tablets."

"Mhmm."

"I've taken syrups."

"Mhmm."

"I've been drinking water like my life depends on it."

She laughed.

"And?"

"...Yet somehow this feels like the first thing that's actually worked."

She gently rolled her eyes.

"So now I'm medicine?"

He smiled without opening his eyes.

"My favorite one."

She laughed again and lightly hit his arm.

"You're so cheesy."

"I know."

"But..."

He looked up at her.

"...Thank you for coming."

This time, she didn't joke.

She simply brushed a hand through his hair.

"Next time you're sick..."

"Hmm?"

"...don't wait for me to notice."

He nodded.

"I won't."

She smiled.

"Good."

Then they stayed exactly where they were.

She gently helped him lie back down.

"Sleep," she said softly.

"I'm not sleepy."

"You look like you've been arguing with sleep for three days."

He smiled.

"I'll win."

"No, you won't."

She pulled the duvet over him.

He looked at her with that look.

"The one?"

She sighed dramatically.

"You really won't let this cuddle thing go, will you?"

"No."

She laughed under her breath, lifted a corner of the blanket, and quietly slipped in beside him.

"There."

"Happy?"

He nodded.

"Very."

She wrapped an arm around him, and within minutes, his breathing became slower.

His grip around her loosened.

He had fallen asleep.

She smiled to herself.

"Finally."

Not long after, the silence pulled her in too.

—

She opened her eyes.

Confused for a second.

She reached for her phone on the bedside table.

4:17 PM.

Her eyes widened.

"...An hour?"

She sat up slowly.

"I didn't mean to stay this long."

Before moving, she gently placed the back of her hand against his forehead.

She paused.

"...Wait."

She checked again.

The heat was almost gone.

A smile escaped her lips.

"You really are better."

As she carefully tried to lift the duvet and stand, a sleepy voice stopped her.

"You're leaving?"

She turned around.

He was awake.

Barely.

His eyes were still heavy.

She smiled apologetically.

"I've been here for an hour already."

"You have?"

She nodded.

"I didn't plan to stay this long."

He looked at her for a second.

"...Stay a little longer."

She wanted to.

More than she would admit.

But she shook her head.

"I really have to go."

He frowned.

Not dramatically.

Just enough for her to know he wasn't ready to let her leave.

"...Okay."

She stood, picked up her bag, and dusted imaginary wrinkles from her clothes.

Then she looked back at him.

Without saying anything, she leaned down until her lips were close to his ear.

"Take care of yourself."

A tiny pause.

"I love you."

He smiled.

Reached for her hand.

Gently pulled her back toward him.

Then whispered into her ear,

"Thank you."

"I will."

"And I love you more."

Before she could answer, he pressed a soft kiss against her forehead.

She looked at him for a second.

Raised an eyebrow.

"...That's all I get?"

He laughed.

"You complain too much."

"Do I?"

She leaned closer.

Close enough that he could feel her breath.

Then, without another word, she closed the distance between them.

Their lips met.

Softly.

Tenderly.

The kind of kiss that didn't need to prove anything.

It simply lingered.

He kissed her back almost instinctively.

As though every part of him had missed her.

For what felt like a minute, the room became silent again.

No fever.

No medicine.

No conversations.

Just two people who, for a moment, forgot everything else.

She was the first to pull away.

Smiling.

"Now..."

She rested her forehead briefly against his.

"...take care of yourself."

"I will."

"You'd better."

She picked up her bag one last time, looked back at him with one final smile...

...and walked out of the house.

The door clicked shut.

Silence returned.

He slowly lifted his hand to his forehead.

Then to his neck.

He blinked.

The burning sensation......was gone.

His temperature was normal.

He smiled to himself.

After days of swallowing tablets and syrups that seemed to do nothing...

Who would've thought a single cuddle...

...could make him feel alive again?

He let out a quiet sigh of relief.

He was recovering.

<a "I'm trying to find myself." And every time I hear it, I'm like...Where did you keep yourself before? 😭

Jokes aside. I've been there.

That season where you wake up and something just feels... off.
Nothing terrible has happened.
Nobody has offended you.
You're not exactly sad.
But you're not okay either.
You smile. You gist. You laugh.

Then you get home, stare at the ceiling for a few minutes and wonder..."Who exactly am I becoming?"

That question is heavier than people think.

Because nobody prepares you for the version of life where you're no longer who you used to be, but you haven't become who you're meant to be either.

You're just...Existing. Floating. Trying to convince yourself that everything makes sense.

One thing I've noticed is that we don't actually lose ourselves overnight.

It's gradual. A little piece today. Another piece tomorrow.
You say yes because you don't want to disappoint people.
You laugh at jokes you don't even find funny.

You agree with opinions you don't really believe. You chase things you never wanted in the first place. Then one day...You look in the mirror and the face is familiar, but the person isn't.

That's when you say, "I need to find myself."

Maybe you don't. Maybe you just need to stop abandoning yourself. Because every time you ignore your peace to please people...You leave yourself behind. Every time you pretend to be someone you're not just to fit into a room...You leave yourself behind.

Every time you shrink yourself because your real personality feels "too much"...You leave yourself behind.

The crazy thing is...People will clap for the fake version of you while the real you quietly disappears.

Don't let applause become your identity.

I've realized something recently. Growing up isn't becoming a completely different person. It's slowly giving yourself permission to become who you've always been.

That takes time. It takes uncomfortable conversations. It takes saying no. It takes disappointing people sometimes. It even takes walking away from versions of yourself that everybody else liked.

And that's scary. But it's necessary.

You don't owe the world a performance. You owe yourself honesty.

So if you've been feeling like you're lost...Maybe you're not. Maybe you've just spent too much time listening to everybody else's voice that you've forgotten what yours sounds like.

Spend time with yourself. Write. Pray. Take long walks. Sit in silence without reaching for your phone every thirty seconds. Ask yourself questions you've been avoiding. You might be surprised by the answers.

And if you still don't have everything figured out...Welcome to the club.
Most of us are just pretending to know where we're going. We're all figuring it out one day at a time.

So be patient with yourself.

You're not a finished product. You're a story that's still being written.

And honestly? Those are usually the best ones.

Till I write to you, again,

Emmanuel.

Healing is funny.

One minute you're telling yourself, "I'm doing so much better now." The next minute, you're voluntarily reopening the exact thing that almost sent you into a mental Olympics. It's like cleaning a wound every day, then scratching it open every night just to "check if it's still there."

I've been there.

There was a season of my life when I was carrying something so heavy that it almost drove me crazy. I won't even lie or try to sound strong. I smiled around people, cracked jokes, acted like everything was fine, but the moment I was alone, I'd go right back to it. I'd reread conversations. Replay moments. Ask myself questions that had no answers. I'd create ten different endings to the same story, hoping one of them would magically become real.

It never did.

The worst part wasn't even what happened to me. The worst part was that I became my own prison warden. Every single day, I'd unlock the cell, walk inside, lock it behind me, and then wonder why I still felt trapped.

Looking back now, I realize I wasn't giving myself a chance to heal. I kept revisiting the place that broke me. I kept staring at the thing that stole my peace, expecting it to return what it had already taken. It never works like that.

Yunno one thing I realized?

Sometimes we blame life for refusing to move on, when we're the ones pressing replay.

Read that again.

Some of us aren't stuck because life is unfair. We're stuck because we're emotionally paying rent in a place we should've packed up and left months ago.

I know moving on isn't as easy as deleting pictures or muting someone's account. If it were, nobody would struggle. Healing is messy. Some days you'll feel like you've won. Other days, one random memory will hit you while you're eating Indomie, and suddenly you're fighting for your life. That's normal.

What's not normal is making pain your home address.

You can't expect peace while constantly visiting the place that robbed you of it. At some point, you have to stop collecting evidence. You already know it hurt. You already know it changed you. You don't need another reminder.

Leave the crime scene.

Not because it didn't matter.

Not because it didn't hurt.

But because you deserve to experience a version of yourself that isn't constantly surviving.

Some doors don't need one last knock. Some chapters don't need one last read. Some people don't deserve one last explanation.

Walk away.

Healing isn't forgetting.

It's finally refusing to bleed in the same place over and over again.

I would have done this the chaotic way, but it's something I believe we all can relate to, at one point or the other.

Let's leave it here.

Do the needful.

Yours,

Emmanuel.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" Green light? Reply. Online? Reply. Posted on your status? Definitely reply.

Who made these rules?

Sometimes I'm online because I'm watching cat videos. Sometimes I'm reading. Sometimes I'm staring at my ceiling thinking about why mosquitoes always pick the exact ear to buzz in. Sometimes I opened WhatsApp by mistake.

None of those activities require me to become a customer care representative.

And can we talk about "You viewed my status but didn't reply?"

Yes. I also walked past three shops today without buying anything. Seeing something doesn't automatically mean I have to interact with it.

The pressure to always be reachable is exhausting.

We've turned notifications into responsibilities. We've mistaken accessibility for friendship. We've started measuring love by response time.

That's a dangerous game.

If someone genuinely cares about you, they should understand that life exists outside your screen. You have work. You have school. You have family. You have moments where you simply don't feel like talking.

And that's okay.

Not every silence is an attitude.

Not every delayed reply is a hidden message.

Sometimes it's literally just... "I'll answer later."

And yes, "later" can accidentally become tomorrow. It happens. We move.

The funniest part is that the same people complaining that you reply late are the ones that will disappear for three business days after saying, "One minute."

The irony deserves an award.

I'm learning something though.

Peace is underrated. Protecting your time is not wickedness. Putting your phone down isn't disrespect. You're allowed to disappear for a bit without submitting an official leave application to everybody in your contacts.

People who love you will still be there.

The world somehow survived before blue ticks, last seen, and "typing..."

It will survive if I reply after I've finished my food.

So no, I don't owe anybody 24/7 access to me.

If we're cool, we're cool.

If I reply late, I probably just had a life to live.

And if that offends anyone...

They can kindly wait in the queue.

I'll reply when I get there. 🤍

You're one of the Olodo Uprisings

Yes. and I have proof.

The Emmanuel David.✯

Before you start dragging me in the comments, hear me out.

The internet has been shouting "Olodo Uprising!" for days now, and somehow, everybody has become either a professor or a defence lawyer overnight. And honestly? They're right.

Some of the smartest people you'll ever meet don't have perfect grades. Some creators are incredibly brilliant—they simply chose entertainment because, let's be honest, bills don't accept report cards.

And they're also right that parents and schools still have a huge responsibility. You can't expect a TikTok creator to raise an entire generation.

But...

Just because something is profitable doesn't automatically make it healthy.

We've become a generation that can memorise every trending sound, every catchphrase and every celebrity gist, but ask simple questions sometimes, and the room suddenly becomes quieter than NEPA after midnight.

Omo.

Maybe the uprising isn't that people don't know things.

Maybe it's that we've become comfortable not wanting to know.

And that's a bigger problem.

Knowledge has never made anybody less cool.

Reading won't reduce your aura.

Asking questions isn't embarrassing.

Learning new things won't make your friends abandon you.

In fact, ignorance has never been fashionable. We just gave it better lighting and faster internet.

So yes.

Laugh.

Watch your favourite creators.

Enjoy the memes.

I do too.

But don't let entertainment become your entire personality.

Because at the end of the day, the funniest people are usually the ones who actually know what they're talking about.

...And if this has I won't actually call it doom scrolling, cos I must have gained a thing or two from the few articles I read before writing this.

The first half of 2026 is gone.

I still find it very hard to believe.

Tell me why January was 12 days ago, and all of a sudden, we're in July?

Time be moving crazy nowadays, but that's by the way.

At the beginning of this year, I had resolutions. 14 of them. And honestly, I don't think I might be able to meet up.

The idea of resolutions, for me, was prolly just to feel among. I never really sat down to think about what I wanted to do this year. I just wanted to feel among, so if I was asked, I'll be like, “yes na, me sef get new year resolution”.

By March, I was so confused. Between trying to become the son my parents want me to be, and also keeping up with my supposed '“resolution”, I don't know which one of them wanted to take my life before the other.

The latter was sooo pressing Sha.

But in the midst of all this robodiyan, I discovered something.

“Robodiyan” doesn't exactly have a meaning. It's a casual word, just like “omo”, "chai”, amongst others. Best explanation would be, it's just another way of saying “Chaos”.

Subscribe

I discovered that life hardly ever goes according to the plan you drew up in January.

I discovered that growth isn't always loud. Sometimes, it's hidden in the little things you almost overlook.

I discovered that chaos sometimes, is necessary.

Not the kind of chaos that makes headlines. Just the normal life kind. Plans changing. Unexpected wins. Tiny disappointments. New people. New experiences. Days where I felt like I was figuring life out, and days where I genuinely had no idea what I was doing.

The funny thing is, even though I haven't ticked off all 14 resolutions, I don't think this year has been a waste.

I've grown.

Maybe not in the loud, obvious way I imagined back in January, but in the quiet ways that don't make it onto a checklist. A checklist that I actually don't have.

I've become more consistent with my writing. I've met amazing people. I've learned things I didn't know six months ago. I've laughed, worried, prayed, overthought, and somehow, I'm still here.

Maybe progress isn't always measured by how many goals you complete.

Maybe sometimes, it's measured by the person you're slowly becoming.

So here's to the second half of 2026.

No pressure to suddenly become a different person overnight.

Just one day at a time. One article at a time. One step at a time.

The Journey Continues. And I hope this second half is as ready for me, as I am, for it.

By the end of the year, I should have more stories to tell.

Everything that started, has to end. Same applies to this Article.

Till I write to you, again.

Yours,

Emmanuel.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" The kind where someone writes names in notebooks, stares out the window while it's raining, or somehow manages to make every conversation about one person.

Mine didn't look like that.

Mine looked like checking my phone every few minutes... just in case you replied.

It looked like opening our chat to reread old conversations, laughing at the same jokes like they were brand new. Watching the videos you sent me over and over again because, somehow, they never got old. Then acting surprised when another TikTok from you popped up two minutes later—as if you hadn't already spammed me with ten before it.

It looked like hearing something funny and immediately thinking, "She has to see this."

Or seeing something beautiful and wondering if you'd like it too.

At first, I called it love.

Then I called it attachment.

Now? I genuinely don't know.

Because normal people probably don't smile every time one person's name appears on their screen. They probably don't replay voice notes just because they miss hearing a voice they heard ten minutes ago. They probably don't catch themselves grinning at random in public because they remembered something ridiculously small.

I do.

And the funniest part?

I didn't even notice it happening.

It wasn't one big moment. length="0" type="image/jpeg"/>

A Nostalgic Piece.

Sometimes,

we spend so much time looking for love outside that we forget there’s already love sitting right inside the house.

Funny enough, home is usually the first place where we learn what love feels like. It’s in the random “Have you eaten?” from your mum, the unnecessary shouting from your dad because NEPA light was left on in an empty room, or your siblings finishing your snacks and still saying “na family now.” Annoying? Yes. But somehow, that’s love too.

Love at home is not always loud. Sometimes, it hides in small things. Like when your mum pretends she’s not hungry so you can eat the last piece of meat. Or when your dad sends you money and adds “manage this one first,” as if he’s the Governor of the Central Bank.

Even those little prayers parents whisper before sleeping? Love. Deep love. The kind that doesn’t trend online.

Truth is,

every home is not perfect. Some homes are noisy, some are strict, some have plenty “family meetings” that feel like court sessions. But even inside the imperfections, love still finds a way to survive. Because love is not only in sweet words or matching pajamas during Christmas pictures. Sometimes, love is correction.

Sometimes, love is sacrifice. And sometimes, love is simply staying.

One thing I’ve noticed is that people often appreciate home more when they’re away from it. You’ll leave home feeling independent and mature, then suddenly miss hearing “who kept this spoon here?” at 6am. Life is funny like that. The same house rules that used to irritate you somehow become memories you laugh about later. Human beings are just dramatic naturally.

There’s love at home because home is where people know the real version of you.

Outside, you can act classy and composed. But at home? They know your childhood nickname, your embarrassing stories, and the fact that you once cried because your phone fell inside water. Yet they still love you regardless. That kind of acceptance is rare.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" Most times after receiving a gift that looked like it survived a flood before getting to you. 😭 But honestly, is it really the thought that matters, or do actions eventually become louder than intentions?

I think the answer sits somewhere in the middle. Thought matters because it reveals intention. It shows that someone paused for a second in their busy life and considered you. In a world where people barely reply texts on time anymore — yes, I’m looking at some of you that say “I forgot to reply” after uploading fifteen Instagram stories. genuine thoughtfulness still means something. It always will.

But then again, thoughts without effort can start to feel empty. You cannot constantly hurt people and expect your “good intentions” to repair everything automatically. At some point, the thought has to transform into action. Love, friendship, kindness — all these things survive better when they are expressed, not just imagined. Someone cannot say they care deeply about you yet disappear whenever you need them most. That’s like saying you studied for an exam “in your heart.” WAEC no dey mark vibes, my brother. 😂

Still, I don’t think everything should be measured by material value or perfection. Sometimes the smallest gestures carry the deepest meanings. A random check-up message. Sharing food when there’s barely enough. Sitting with someone in silence because words have failed them. Those things may seem ordinary, but they often stay in memory longer than expensive gifts or dramatic speeches.

There are also moments when effort fails despite sincere intention. A badly planned surprise. A cheap gift from someone who genuinely tried their best. An awkward apology from someone who does not know how to express emotions properly. Humans are imperfect communicators. Sometimes the heart arrives before the execution catches up. And honestly, if we judge only results, we may miss the beauty hidden inside imperfect acts.

Before I Continue, Kindly Subscribeeeeeee!

However, people also hide behind “good thoughts” too much. “I wanted to call you.” “I was going to help.” “I meant to show up.” Intentions are comforting, yes, but consistency is convincing. At some point, reality demands evidence. The bridge between thought and meaning is action.

Maybe that’s why the statement feels both true and incomplete. The thought matters because it is the beginning of every genuine thing. But effort matters too because it proves the thought was real. One without the other eventually loses value.

So no, it is not only the thought that matters. But without thoughtful intentions, actions can become empty performances. The balance between both is what truly means something. And if you still want to give me Indomie for my birthday, at least add egg so the thought can have supporting evidence. 😭

<a class="image-link Nights where the city lights outside my window look alive, while I sit here trying to understand the thoughts running through my head. Sometimes I wonder how one heart can carry this much at once. Love. Fear. Memories. Hope. Regret. It all sits heavily inside me, yet somehow I keep moving like everything is normal.

I’ve realized that feelings are strange things. They don’t ask for permission before arriving. One moment you’re okay, laughing with everyone around you, and the next moment you’re alone with your thoughts, remembering things you promised yourself you had already moved on from. It’s crazy how silence can suddenly become louder than noise.

People always talk about being “strong” like it means never feeling too much. But I think real strength is being able to sit with your emotions without running away from them. Being honest enough to admit that some days hurt more than others. Some nights feel longer. Some memories still leave marks no matter how much time passes.

There are parts of me I don’t show often. The overthinking. The late-night worries. The moments where I question myself more than I should. I joke a lot, I smile a lot, and I try to keep things light, but deep down, I feel everything so deeply. Maybe deeper than people realize.

Still, I love the fact that I can feel this much. Even when it becomes overwhelming. Because feeling means I’m alive. It means my heart still cares. It means I haven’t become cold, even after disappointment, even after confusion, even after being hurt in ways I never spoke about properly.

Sometimes I sit and think about how fast life moves. People change. Feelings change. Situations change. Someone who meant everything yesterday can slowly become a memory tomorrow. And honestly, that scares me sometimes. Not because I hate change, but because I know how attached I become to moments, to energy, to people who make life feel softer.

But through all of this, I’m learning myself more. I’m learning that healing is not always loud. Sometimes it’s just choosing to wake up every day and continue. Sometimes it’s listening to music at 2AM and letting yourself feel everything instead of pretending you’re okay. Sometimes it’s accepting that not every emotion needs to be hidden.

So yes, maybe I’m in my feelings. Maybe I think too much. Maybe my heart holds onto things longer than it should. But I’d rather be someone who feels deeply than someone who feels nothing at all. Because at the end of the day, these emotions, these thoughts, these quiet moments… they remind me that I’m human.

© 2026, Emmanuel David.
