Never Again Has Never Been True — How Should We Then Live?

Why did a working German bank spend decades sitting directly above a five-hundred-year-old Jewish ritual bath, without a single sign to say it was there? Why did one German city tear down its own synagogue days before Kristallnacht, without waiting to be told? And why did a Holy Roman Emperor’s charter protecting Jewish communities in writing get answered, two and a half centuries later, by another emperor’s charter pardoning in advance anyone who murdered them? This week I drove between five towns along the Rhine — Kaiserslautern, Speyer, Worms, Osthofen, and Mainz — tracing one pattern from the Black Death in 1349 through a single coordinated deportation order in 1940, and all the way into a resurgence happening in surprising places right now. Along the way: a mikveh turned into a bank vault’s neighbor, a synagogue turned into a weapons arsenal, and a museum plaque that asks the question around which this whole report is built: Was protection for the Jewish people ever about justice, or only ever about what they were worth? The Mark of the King

People are fascinated by the Mark of the Beast whether they are actually Christians or not. They want to know what it will be. People imagine it could be a chip, a scan, or some kind of digital currency. Some of them are genuinely afraid they might take it by accident.

I’ve written about that Mark of the Beast many times. But today I want to turn the question around, because there’s another mark in the book of Revelation that hardly anyone ever asks about. It’s the one that settles everything. And unlike the Mark of the Beast, you can take it right now. You should take it right now.

The King Wears His Name

At the end of the Great Tribulation, John sees Heaven open and Jesus riding out on a white horse with the armies of Heaven behind Him. Here’s how the scene closes:

Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
Revelation 19:15-16

The King of Kings comes back with His own name written on His robe and His body. It’s not on a banner somebody else is carrying. It’s on His robe and on His thigh, where a rider’s garment falls beside the sword, in the one place every soldier riding behind Him can read it.

Jesus doesn’t return anonymously. Everyone will know exactly who He is. His own body will declare it right out in the open, where the whole world can see

Understand the importance of this moment, because the mark the world will have seen up until that moment is a different one.

Satan Doesn’t Create. He Copies.

Satan has no creative power. He isn’t a creator; he’s a forger. Everything he offers is a counterfeit of something God made first. He counterfeits the Trinity with himself, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet. He counterfeits the Incarnation by indwelling the Antichrist. He counterfeits the Resurrection when the Beast dies and rises again. And he counterfeits the mark Jesus puts on every person who accepts Him as Lord and Savior.

The Mark of the Beast isn’t the original idea. It’s the knockoff. Every forgery proves there’s something real it was made to imitate. The Antichrist will want his name on human flesh because God claimed His people that way first.

The Mark You Can Take Today

Paul tells us plainly what the Mark of the King is:

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14

The word “sealed” is an ownership word. In the ancient world a seal got pressed into wax or clay to say one thing: This belongs to me, and whoever tampers with it will answer to me. God doesn’t press His seal onto a document. He presses it onto you. The Holy Spirit Himself applies the mark.

Paul says it again a few chapters later:

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Ephesians 4:30

You didn’t earn it. It won’t show up on a scanner or a screen. But Heaven can read it, and so can Hell. That’s the Mark of the King. It goes on the moment you trust Christ, and you can receive it today, right where you’re sitting.

Two Marks That Can Never Meet

So why could no one carrying the King’s Mark ever take the Mark of the Beast?

Start with what Paul says the seal is for. The Holy Spirit is the guarantee “until the redemption of the purchased possession.” That’s earnest money. It’s a down payment God puts down on a purchase He fully intends to close. The day He closes it is the day of redemption, and for the Church that day is the Rapture.

The sealed will be gone before the Beast’s system ever exists. Believers alive today will never have to face that decision. The Antichrist can’t put his name on people who aren’t here. That isn’t something for us to congratulate ourselves about. It’s a mercy, and it’s one of the reasons I keep telling people that understanding prophecy brings comfort instead of dread.

There’s a second reason too, and it goes deeper. The Mark of the Beast has never really been about commerce. Buying and selling is only the leverage. The mark itself is a confession. It’s a person saying with their own body that they belong to the Antichrist and not to Jesus Christ. That’s why Revelation 14 says it can’t be forgiven. Nobody will take it by accident, and nobody will take it who has already been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ.

So there’s two marks, two owners, and two names. They can never be worn by the same person, because they say opposite things about who paid for you.

From a Seal to a Face

Right now, the King’s Mark isn’t visible in our world. That won’t always be true. John saw how the story ends:

They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
Revelation 22:4

Do you see where His name goes? It’s on the forehead. That’s the exact spot the Antichrist wanted for his own name. What the enemy tried to counterfeit, God will finish out in the open. The King who rode out with His name on His robe and on His thigh will write His name on our faces, and we will be looking straight at His face while He does it.

That’s the whole arc. A seal nobody can see, given today. A name everybody can see, forever.

How to Take the Right Mark

The Mark of the Beast is coming, but it isn’t your problem to solve. The mark that is your concern is the one you either have or don’t have today.

Here’s the good news. Nobody has to wonder about it, and nobody has to work for it. Jesus already paid for you. He went to the cross and shed His blood to buy back what sin had cost you, and He rose from the dead to prove the purchase was good. All that remains is for you to come and be claimed. When you do, God puts His Spirit inside you, and you belong to Him from that second forward.

You don’t earn this. You receive it. It’s a gift, and the only way to get a gift is to take it.

If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, you can settle it right now, right where you’re sitting. There’s nothing magic about the words below. But if they say what your heart is saying, God will honor them and He will save you. Pray this out loud:

Lord Jesus, I have sinned against You, and there’s no excuse for it. I confess my sins to You right now and I repent of them. I ask You to forgive me, and I believe You died on the cross for me and rose again from the dead. I receive Your forgiveness now, and I believe Your blood is more powerful than my worst sin. I step down from the throne of my heart, and I ask You to sit there as my Lord and my King. Come into my life and give me the gift of eternal life. I know I don’t deserve it, but I receive it by faith as a free gift. I belong to You now. Mark me as Your own. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, lead me, speak to me, and give me the power to live the rest of my life for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Did you pray that and mean it? Then it’s done. You are forgiven, you are born again, and you are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. You may feel a lot of things right now or you may feel nothing at all. Either way it doesn’t change a thing, because God isn’t answering your feelings. He’s answering His own promise, and He has never broken one.

Now do three things. First, tell somebody. Second, find a Bible-believing church and get baptized in water, which is the first thing Jesus asks of a new believer. And third, start reading the Bible every day. The Gospel of John is a good place to begin.

The King has written His name on your heart, and one day He’ll write it on your forehead. Until then, His Spirit in you is the receipt.

So when Jesus comes riding out with His name written on His robe and on His thigh, you’ll be riding right behind Him, wearing His mark forever.

Daniel 7:8, 24—The Little Horn

In this episode, I examine what I believe is the first clear passage in all of Scripture that mentions the coming Antichrist—Daniel 7:8,24, where he’s called “the little horn.” This passage serves as the biblical origin point for understanding this future world ruler, who appears in about 100 passages throughout Scripture. Building on the foundation of Daniel chapter 2’s metallic image showing successive world empires, Daniel 7 presents these same empires from God’s perspective as wild beasts—Babylon as a lion, Medo-Persia as a bear, Greece as a four-headed leopard, and Rome as a terrible, destructive beast.

The key addition in Daniel 7 is the ten horns on the fourth beast, representing ten individual kings who will rule a reunited Roman Empire in the End Times. Among these ten horns, a “little horn” emerges—initially small and inconspicuous but quickly rising to power by uprooting three of the original horns who oppose him. This little horn has “eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that speaks boastfully,” indicating he’s a man who will become the greatest boaster of all time, ultimately declaring himself to be God.

This passage reveals why it’s fruitless speculation to try identifying the Antichrist today—he’ll begin as a “little horn,” an insignificant figure who catapults to power after the Rapture. For three and a half years (time, times, and half a time), he’ll persecute God’s people, change times and laws, and exercise unprecedented global control. The progressive revelation in Daniel shows us a world leader unlike any in history, and our current global setup appears ready for such a figure, reminding us to stay prepared for Christ’s return.

God’s Perfect Timing

There was a season in Hala’s life when she was facing an impossible decision at work. She remembers reaching out to the Tipping Point family and asking for prayer because she knew that unless God intervened, she could lose her job.

Our community prayed, and before long, God made a way. An exemption was put in place that allowed Hala to continue working. Looking back, she could clearly see His perfect timing. It wasn’t a coincidence—it was God’s faithful answer to prayer.

During that same season, Hala’s little church was facing another challenge. Her brother, who pastors their church, believed God was calling him to keep the church doors open despite the pressure to close them. Because of that decision, legal papers were sent to their local law enforcement with instructions to arrest him.

But once again, God had already gone before them.

The mayor of their hometown refused to serve the papers. His response still amazes Hala: “It will be a cold day in hell before I serve those papers.”

Her brother was never arrested, and their church continued gathering together. Throughout that season, their church witnessed God’s faithfulness in countless ways. Looking back, Hala can clearly see His hand at work, answering prayers, opening doors, and carrying them through every challenge.

When Hala looks back, she doesn’t just remember the uncertainty—she remembers God’s faithfulness. Again and again, He went before them, answered prayer, and reminded her that He is always in control, even when life feels anything but.

Hala is so thankful for every person who prayed for her and stood with her. God used the Tipping Point family to strengthen her faith, remind her that she wasn’t alone, and show her once again that He hears the prayers of His children.

If you’re facing an impossible situation today, don’t lose heart. God is never late. He sees what you’re facing, He hears every prayer, and His timing is always perfect.

You’ve studied Bible prophecy for most of your life, and I’ve heard you say you changed your mind about some things along the way. I want to understand what the Bible actually teaches about the End Times. How can I tell whether something I believe right now is a mistake?

For most of history, no one could lie that personally to billions at once. That’s no longer true.

AI has rewritten the rules of propaganda. A single message can now be reshaped, word by word, for every person who sees it, built around what you click and watch, aimed at your particular fears or hopes. Paul described something like this in 2 Thessalonians 2, a powerful lie sent to people who already rejected the truth. What’s striking is that it won’t come from outside. It arrives mixed into the same feed as real news and photos from family, indistinguishable on the screen.

The answer isn’t sharper tech. It’s the same old defense: knowing the Bible, knowing other believers, staying planted in a real church.

Jerusalem Dispatch: Israel This Week

What Can We Do?

I am writing this from Kaiserslautern, a city in southwestern Germany you have almost certainly never heard of, and one I never planned to visit. I came because my son and his Israeli wife are here for work, and eight months ago they made me a grandfather for the first time. His name is Eitan — Hebrew for “firm endurance.”

I arrived straight from Poland via a three-day stayover in Prague, still carrying two weeks of Holocaust sites in my bones, expecting nothing more than to hold my grandson and rest. Instead I found a small city whose Jewish history explains this week’s headlines better than anything I could have planned. I tell you this because what happened here did not stay in the past. It is still being decided, this week, on three continents.

Eighty-eight years ago yesterday, the Jewish congregation of this city held its last service in a synagogue Nazi officials had just declared “un-German.” Four days later, the city itself began tearing the building down — weeks before Kristallnacht made such demolitions a national policy rather than a local one. I stood yesterday on the square where that synagogue used to be. Two sandstone wall fragments, a footprint traced in hedges, and 192 names carved into stone are what’s left standing in its place.

Today I am tracing the rest of the region’s Jewish story, on the first of a two-day driving tour through Speyer and Worms. In Speyer, I saw the oldest surviving mikveh in Germany, cut 33 feet deep into rock before 1128. Mikvehs require living water. That’s how deep the mikveh in Speyer had to be dug 900 years ago. That’s commitment.

The National Debt Crisis, the Black Horse, and the Missing America of Bible Prophecy

The US national debt has crossed $40 trillion, and I believe every believer needs to understand what that means prophetically. The federal government is accumulating debt at $90,000 per second. Interest payments on that debt now exceed the entire defense budget, and historians call that the tipping point at which great empires begin to fall. The Ottoman Empire, Spain, France, and Britain all lost global influence after crossing that line. America has crossed it and blown past it. I believe this runaway debt is part of the toxic cocktail that could explain why the United States is absent from End Times Bible prophecy, and it may be converging with the Rapture to collapse the global economy and set the stage for the black horse of hyperinflation in Revelation 6. In this episode, I examine one of the most comprehensive biblical passages about the coming Antichrist—2 Thessalonians 2:3-12. With about 100 passages in Scripture giving us information about this coming world leader, God has been pleased to reveal extensive details about his career and ultimate doom. Paul’s teaching here provides an incredible prophetic timetable that every believer needs to understand.

I break down this passage into five key areas:

The rise of the Antichrist after the Rapture, where we see him called the “man of lawlessness” and “son of destruction”—titles that reveal his evil nature and doomed destiny. Just as history began with the sin of man, it will end with the man of sin.

The rebuilt Temple where the Antichrist will sit in the Holy of Holies declaring himself to be God, creating the Abomination of Desolation that Jesus warned about.

The removal of the restrainer—which I believe is the Holy Spirit working through the Church. This restraining influence is what currently holds back Satan from bringing his man onto the world scene, providing strong evidence for a pre-Tribulation Rapture.

I explain how the “mystery of lawlessness” is already at work today, with all the necessary factors in place, but being held back until God’s appointed time.

I address the rejection of truth and God’s strong delusion, clarifying that this applies to those who reject Christ during the Tribulation, not to people today who might hear the gospel again after the Rapture.

This passage reminds us that the safest place to be during earth’s coming earthquake is in the air with the Lord.

I met Elizabeth in 2016, shortly after our family moved to Texas. She was in her 80s, painting in her garage, when she popped out to say hello as we walked our dog.

With her thick Hungarian accent, incredible spunk, and endless stories, we became fast friends.

Elizabeth had survived World War II and the Red Army before immigrating to America and becoming a hairdresser in New York City. She had endured tremendous trauma and didn’t trust easily. It took time—and quite a few popovers—to win her friendship.

What Elizabeth didn’t know was that I had recently lost my dad. I had prayed for God to bring someone into my life whom I could love and who would love me like my dad did.

Years later, Elizabeth confessed that when we met, she had been terribly lonely and at the end of her rope.

God knew what we both needed.

We became family. Elizabeth called me her daughter and she called my children, her grandchildren!

Elizabeth was a strong Catholic who believed in God and faithfully watched Mass when she could no longer attend. But having a personal relationship with Jesus was foreign to her.

For ten years, I shared the Good News with her, and she would tell me, “God doesn’t love me. I’ve been through too much,” or, “I’ve done too much wrong for Him to love me back.”

I kept loving her. And I kept praying. At 92, Elizabeth finally sold her home and moved into a wonderful senior community. One week later, she fell and broke her foot. At the hospital, doctors unexpectedly discovered a brain tumor and told me she might have only two weeks.

Days later, Elizabeth and I sat alone in her bedroom looking through her treasured old coins and jewelry. After hours of stories, she suddenly looked into my eyes and asked:

“What is salvation?”

Then:

“What does Savior mean?”

After ten years of prayer, the moment had come. I could physically feel the Holy Spirit there in that room! I explained the Gospel simply, and Elizabeth told me she was ready to ask Jesus into her heart. We prayed together and when we finished, she raised her arms and declared: “Jesus is my Savior.”

Five hours later, Elizabeth suffered a massive stroke and never spoke again. Two weeks later, she went home to Jesus.

The Savior Elizabeth once believed couldn’t possibly love her had loved her all along.

If you’ve been praying for someone for years, please don’t give up. Jesus said we “should always pray and never give up” (Luke 18:1, NLT).

Keep praying. Keep loving big. Keep sharing truth. Jesus is working even if you can’t see it. You never know when the miracle will come.

Every week, I answer a common question related to the end times. Today’s is about where believers will be during the Great White Throne Judgment and whether we will witness it.

Question:

My church believes Jesus is coming back, but it doesn’t teach on the End Times or the Rapture. The focus stays on getting the gospel out to the nations, and the verse we hear most is Matthew 24:14: “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” I recently read that billions of people alive today have never heard the gospel even once. I wake up in the morning wondering if this is the day I’ll be caught up to meet Jesus in the air, but I’m confused. People say the Rapture could happen at any moment. How can that be true when God is not willing that any should perish, yet so many people have never heard the Good News?

The Nazis Erased Names, Israel Just Brought One Home.

I am writing this aboard a train from Krakow to Prague where I will spend a few days before going to southern Germany to finally meet my new and only grandchild, Eitan Schrauger. As I go, I cannot help but reflect on visits to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration-death camps just two days ago.

Nothing prepares you for the scale of Birkenau. I had seen photographs of the rail spur running through the main gate for years. Standing at the far end of that platform, looking back at watchtowers and barracks receding almost to the horizon, is different. This camp swallowed nearly a million Jewish men, women and children, along with tens of thousands of Poles, Roma, and Soviet prisoners of war. It was built to erase lives and do so on a scale that outruns the mind’s ability to comprehend.

They tried to erase the evidence, too. Before retreating, the SS dynamited Crematoria II and III, hoping the ruins would say nothing. I walked past those collapsed slabs of concrete the way I walked past Treblinka’s empty field a week earlier. Different method, same intention.

But it is a house, not a ruin, that has stayed with me most. A few hundred meters outside the Birkenau wall stands the home where camp commandant Rudolf Höss raised his children — a garden, a nursery, ordinary domestic life running in full view of the smoke. It has since reopened as a research center on hate and extremism. Sitting in that garden, I kept thinking: the machinery of erasure always needs ordinary rooms from which to operate. It needed people willing not to see what was literally in view from their bedroom windows.

That is what this week’s news keeps proving, in far smaller ways. A seventeen-year-old Israeli, Yotam Budnik, won a gold medal at an international science olympiad in Uzbekistan and had it stripped — not for cheating, but for wearing his country’s flag on the podium. In Florida, two Senate candidates who built campaigns on classic antisemitic tropes lost their primary badly this week, and yet believe, in their own words, that “victory” is still near. A man now faces federal hate crime charges for attacking a 63-year-old woman during Shabbat services at a Manhattan synagogue.

None of it is Auschwitz. All of it is the same instinct: decide someone’s identity is the problem, then treat its visibility as something to be punished.

We should not need forty-four years, or a stripped medal, to notice that pattern. We should call it early, and call it by its right name.

Against that, I keep returning to a different name. This week, after forty-four years, Israel brought home the remains of Sgt. Yehuda Katz, missing since a 1982 battle in Lebanon — the last of three soldiers lost together at Sultan Yacoub finally accounted for. Auschwitz took names and gave numbers. Katz’s family got a name back, and a grave to put it on.

We need to let both facts sit together: an empire built specifically to make people disappear, and a nation that still spends four decades, if that is what it takes, refusing to let one soldier stay lost. That refusal is not sentiment. It is Biblical. It is what it looks like to insist, against every erasing machine history has built, that every name still matters to Someone.

A Spiritual Warfare Prayer

Abba, I come to You from the far edge of a camp built for one purpose: to turn a person into a number. Thank You that You have never once needed a number. You call each of us by name, and You have not forgotten a single one who was taken from this earth by that machine, or by any machine like it since.

Forgive me for the times I have been like an ordinary room in which the wrong thing was allowed to operate: conversations I allowed to pass, silence I excused to avoid conflict. Give me, please, the courage of those who hid strangers instead of watching. Extract from me the deliberate complacency of those who tended their garden while the ashes of incinerated millions rose from a chimney next door.

I bring to You specific people who are on my heart this week. I bring You a teenage Israeli whose gold medal was stripped for showing his own flag, and I ask You to guard how his heart understands justice from this. I bring You the woman struck during Shabbat prayers in a Manhattan synagogue, and every congregation now watching its own door more closely. I bring You the Katz family, who waited forty-four years for a name to come home, and I thank You that Mali and Liel Yahalomi are safe and no longer among the missing.

Bless the soldiers and airmen who make that homecoming possible, and guard every leader who stands exposed simply for standing where they stand. Protect Jerusalem itself, which Your Word says every nation will eventually gather against — and which Your Word also says will not be abandoned.

Where erasure is being attempted again, in ways large or small, do not let me be silent, and do not let me look away. Let me be one who insists, the way Auschwitz’s own witnesses insisted, that every name still matters to You.

In the Name of Your precious Son, Yeshua, Amen.

The Hardest Question

Revelation 6: The Four Horsemen Ride

In this episode, I walk through one of the most sobering chapters in all of Scripture— Revelation chapter 6 and the opening of the first six Seal Judgments. We see a dramatic transition from the worship scenes of chapters 4-5 to the warfare that will engulf the earth during the Tribulation period. I examine each of the Four Horsemen—the white horse representing the Antichrist's deceptive peace, the red horse of warfare, the black horse of economic collapse and famine, and the pale horse of death that will claim one-fourth of earth's population. We then explore the Fifth Seal’s martyrdom and the earth-shaking cosmic disturbances of the Sixth Seal that will cause people to cry out for the rocks to fall on them rather than face God's wrath. These judgments parallel perfectly with Jesus' Olivet Discourse in Matthew chapter 24, confirming that God's wrath begins at the start of the Tribulation. Most importantly, I share why this chapter should drive us to the hope we have in Christ—our rescue from this coming wrath through the Rapture.

The Anchor That Goes Up

In my last article I wrote about expectation. And every time I say that faith is expecting God to move, somebody tells me the same thing:

“That’s easy for you. You’re a positive person. I’m not like that. I’m a realist.”

I understand why people say that. Nobody wants to sound like they’re giving up. So they’ll say they’re being “realistic.” They don’t want to get their hopes up only to have them dashed again.

But what you need to know is that hope doesn’t come from our personalities. Some people think if you don’t get the “hope gene,” you got stuck with the “being realistic” one. It’s not like that, and I’m the proof.

Back When I Was Negative

When Karen and I got married, we were broke. We almost divorced. And my mouth was terrible. I spoke negatively all the time.

I’d gotten saved. I really did love God. But the words coming out of my mouth were tearing down my life and my marriage. I was a Christian, but there was no victory in my life.

So when I tell you that you can have hope, I’m not some naturally happy man who can’t imagine your life. I had to learn it the hard way. It was slow going, and I had to get into God’s Word to get that negativity out of me.

I finally came to realize that hope isn’t something you’re born with. It is a gift straight from God.

Where Hope Comes From

The apostle Paul wrote this to the church in Rome:

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

I want you to see two things in that verse.

First, God is called “the God of hope.” That means hope comes from Him. It doesn’t come from your good mood.

Second, Paul says it comes “by the power of the Holy Spirit.” It doesn’t require you to work up a positive attitude. Paul is saying that it’s God’s power that can fill you with real hope, and nothing else.

So if you’ve written yourself off because of your own personality, the Holy Spirit has something to say about that. Your personality doesn’t get the last word about you.

You Were Born (Again) With It

Peter says something even better. He says God “has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).

When Peter says “begotten,” he’s talking about being born again. He’s using birth language. That means you don’t have to earn it. Peter is telling you that you got filled with hope the minute you gave your life to Jesus.

Peter also calls it “a living hope.” That means you can also have a dead hope. Dead hope is just wishful thinking. “I hope the Cowboys win Sunday.” “I hope we get some rain tomorrow.” That kind of hope usually doesn’t last, because the Cowboys often don’t win on Sunday, and it doesn’t rain much in Texas in the summer. There’s nothing behind that kind of hope. It disappears by Sunday evening or dries up by Monday morning. Peter says our hope is living because it is tied to a Living Person who defeated death, Hell, and the grave.

Before you knew Jesus, you didn’t have real hope. Paul is clear about that in Ephesians 2:12:

“…you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.”

Life without God is just like that. But you don’t have to live that way anymore. So when you see a Christian who has no hope, he is living without something God already gave him.

Imagine having millions of dollars in the bank but you don’t really know it’s there. The truth is, you aren’t poor. All that money is in your name. But you don’t live like any of it belongs to you, because you don’t even know you have it. That is how a lot of Christians live with the hope that the Holy Spirit gave them. They have plenty available to them, but they just don’t live like it.

Stir It Up

This is also what Paul told the young pastor Timothy:

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6).

Stir up that gift. You don’t have to go looking for it, and you don’t have to earn it. The Holy Spirit already gave it to Timothy. Paul is telling him to pull it out and use it. Now, Paul wasn’t speaking specifically about hope in this verse, but the verse applies. Whatever the Holy Spirit has given to you, use it.

The Greek word Paul used means “to fan a fire back into a flame.” Fanning only works on a fire that is already there. Even if it has burned down to coals and looks dead, you can still bring it back to life with oxygen and more fuel.

Some of you reading may think that your fire has gone out. But it hasn’t. There are still hot coals under those ashes, and that fire was put in you the day you came to Jesus. Those coals just need oxygen and fuel. Oxygen is the breath of the Holy Spirit, and fuel is the power of God’s Word.

Where Did You Drop Your Anchor?

I love this picture in the book of Hebrews:

“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil” (Hebrews 6:19).

Hope is your anchor. But I want you to see what is holding that anchor.

When you drop an anchor in the ocean or a lake, it goes down and catches on the floor beneath the water. But not hope’s anchor. It goes straight up and rests behind the veil in the very Presence of God. Heaven holds hope’s anchor for you.

If you tie your hope to your circumstances, then every wind and every storm will knock you off course. But if you tie your anchor to God’s throne, no storm can move you. He’s holding you steady from above. That is why Paul says:

“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2).

Three Ways to Set Your Anchor Above

Read your Bible.
Paul said the Scriptures were written so that we “might have hope” (Romans 15:4). Hope grows in you as you read God’s Word. That’s why believers who stop reading the Bible almost always struggle.
Remember on purpose.
Jeremiah was sitting in the ruins of Jerusalem when he wrote, “This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope” (Lamentations 3:21). He wasn’t waiting for his circumstances to change. He went right back to the source of his hope. You have a testimony of what God has done in your life already. I don’t have to prove that God can move in your life. I only need to remind you of what He has already done.
Watch who you hang out with.
Hope is contagious. So are negativity and giving up. You’ll contract whichever one you spend the most time around.

Change Your Prayer

Perhaps you’ve been praying the wrong prayer for far too long.

You’ve asked God to give you hope, but remember, He already did that. He gave it to you when you accepted Jesus. The Holy Spirit has kept it alive in you. It’s anchored in the Presence of God, so the devil can’t touch it.

So I encourage you to change how you pray. Instead of asking the Lord to give you hope, say this:

Lord, stir up the hope You already put within me.

Reveal to me those places in my life where I have given up believing in You.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

You’re not asking for something impossible. You’re asking God to show you what already belongs to you. It’s yours. Take possession of it.
