What we focus on expands

When it comes to audience growth and sales, you have two options:

1. Glass half full

2. Glass half empty

What if we welcome new email subscribers, and let the unsubscribers go peacefully?

What if we worried less about lack of reach, engagement, likes, comments and noticed all the people that did come across us on social media?

And when sales are not as you hope, as hard as it is….

Can you show up even more for those who did invest in you?

Why?

Because what you focus on expands, and all of this calls in your super fans, those who love you, and what you do. And before you know it, you have more than enough super fans to sustain your business.

Breath work for nervous system regulation

Ever notice you know what action you need to take - but somehow you find every reason under the sun not to take it?

For you to take any action, especially something new, your nervous system has to be willing to allow it, even though it may feel a little scary, aka a little bit of eustress, good stress.

Too scary and it will be a strong hell no; this is distress.

Nervous system regulation is an important part of being self-employed; we’re constantly having to make our own decisions, and we’re fully responsible for all actions we take or don’t take!

All the affirmations and mindset work in the world mean nothing if the body says no.

Breathwork is one of the most powerful tools we have when it comes to nervous system regulation; Ujjayi breath is one of my favourites.

Why I think (virtually) everyone needs email marketing!

One post on social media has an average shelf life of 12 to 24 hours!

At best, 2-5% of your audience will see it.

Stories - where you super fans live, at best 5% of your audience will see them.

And let’s not forget blue tick or no blue tick - your social media account can disappear tomorrow.

It’s borrowed land, and if it’s the only place you’ve been growing, nurturing and selling - it’s a dangerous and exhausting business model.

Don’t get me wrong, I love social media. But it is the icing on the cake, one small route into your people getting to know you and what you do.

And unless you have a HUGE engaged social media account or a small local business, where a WhatsApp broadcast channel is enough, then you need an email list.

Plus you need to write them the odd email!

This week on Substack, I share my easy formula for email writing.

And before you tell me you don’t have time.

If you are creating one piece of content for your grid each week, then you have content for email - re-purpose it!

At least 40% of those on your email list will see it - much better odds than on social.

My pattern of hook/share a story/give me a reason to open the email, relate this to a current offer (aka sell) and then maybe sell again, with a PS down-sell, upsell or this is coming, is a pattern that I love.

The process of selling and seeding

The rhythm of selling and seeding helps to guide my marketing and selling endeavours and gives me a greater sense of knowing and control.

As opposed to feeling in that reactive state of “What’s coming up next” and “OMG I haven’t told anyone about this, and it starts next week!”

Seeding = audience growth and nurture, sneak peeks of what is to come, intentional content and waitlists.

Selling = this is how you can work with me!

And selling is much easier when you have a warmed-up audience to sell to.

August is a perfect month to gently grow and nurture your audience, and make intentional summer sales, whether it be with a specific seasonal offer or an invitation to get Autumn ready and book now.

A new episode of my podcast has landed, as I continue to share my 4-year podcasting journey.

The story of year 4, season 3 - 2025

The Prosperous Yogini Podcast is 4 years old - eek!

And it feels appropriate to spend the next 4 episodes reflecting on those 4 years.

Because the lessons from this window of time in my business and life are lessons that we all need to hear.

The highs, the lows, and the weird stuff in between are all part of being a self-employed, service-based business owner.

The secret is - you’ve got to be here for it all.

At this point I’ve realised that I probably should have moved to season 4 by now - but it’s my podcast, and I make up the rules.

2025 was a real roller coaster. In truth, I was doing too much; I was not honouring my true capacity, and the body, as ever, kept the score.

2025 taught me that sometimes less is more, that we have to let things go. Not all KPIs (key performance indicators) are cash. By the end of 2025, I’d pulled back on a lot of my work.

But my podcast was with me through it all and continues to be.

Here’s to another 4 years (and more…) and here’s to definitely to starting season 4 next episode!

Summer Slump and what to do about it!

When we start in our business, it is very reasonable to focus on one offer, one service, one thing to do, refine, master and sell.

But we can sometimes get stuck here.

Or not realise there are multiple ways we can bring money into our world, and that it does not always need to be by exchanging our time for money; this is just one way.

Even just focusing on the concept of multiple streams of income will help to open up pathways and opportunities for this to flow to you.

As you build out your offer suite over time, it gives you more options.

More levers of income to pull, which, if you notice a drop in income and bookings over the summer, you can pull different income levers.

I taught in-person yoga classes for 15 years; there wasn't a July or August that didn’t see a dip in my class income.

I’ve learnt to strategically offer summer-based experiences, such as outside yoga, to utilise my online courses in intentionally timed flash sales and open bookings for Autumn programmes well ahead of the stage of August where everyone seems to disappear into a black hole.

In fact, I’m not allowed to tell myself that my income will dip in August.

There’s always more money; there are always people looking to spend money with you.

Our job is to work with the seasonal flow of our business, not against it.

Once I got over myself, I stepped out as not just Amy-Yoga, but as Amy Jones Mentor LTD. I laugh at what a big thing I made of this, but at the time, it felt like a big deal. Everyone knew me as Amy-Yoga - could I really be something else as well?

Yet the whisper that became a roar had become too loud to ignore!

And the beauty of my podcast has meant that this evolution of my business can be heard in my episodes.

The importance of human conversations.

The marketing gurus will want to talk endlessly about your strategy, and I’m not against strategy - I’m a business strategist after all!

But…

Marketing is simply the act of having conversations, finding your people, having more conversations with them and inviting them into your paid offers (aka selling!)

It’s not as hard as we’re led to believe; your job as a business owner is to have these conversations regularly.

Happy Friday

What a week on so many levels....

Heat and lightning aside, I think on Wednesday I experienced my best day to date as a business strategist.....

I use the word ‘think’, because in truth I am still processing it all!

But it’s such a good feeling to know that the work that you do continues to elevate.

The business coaching, mentoring, and strategist world can be a difficult one to navigate.

Too many people have been pushed into offers not right for them, made promises that were never achievable for where they were (aka coaches not understanding audience size, growth and conversion rates themselves.....)

And high ticket offers that promise you the world and then limit when you get to access the support you need.

I could go on....

But instead, I will continue to shine my light, do things my way.

Yes, this is my mastermind business retreat day.

Yes, I know, as a business strategist, this is pretty unconventional.

But it’s my way, and for me it works.

And for my people, it is literally life-changing.

I will continue to hold myself to high standards I want to embody and show up endlessly for those who choose to invest in me.

You won’t get the hard sell from me, or the big promises - but you will get the support you need and a deep-seated knowing that what you want is possible for you.

Even if it takes time....

Desire:

1. What is it you truly want to do?

2. How do you want to do it?
