Summer FLEW by with my sweet baby girl keeping me busy most of the day. Now that school is back in session, she just started a sweet little preschool program and, with that time, I have gotten my office organized and have been able to finally photograph the original watercolors from my ongoing Have a Good Sleep book series (hoping to paint book #3 soon). Since releasing the books, they have been sitting in a stack waiting to be shared!

THE LIMITED TIME GALLERY:

Each book resulted in around 20-30 watercolors—-a myriad of fun menagerie golf illustrations and some precious and whimsical garden inspired works too. Really sweet, imaginative art for a little one and I’m grateful to my own little one for inspiring it.

They are now available in a limited time gallery that will be available today through this Sunday. I am listing all originals at $100 each—far below what I typically would list original art for and not as a reflection of what treasures they are, but as a token of appreciation to anyone who has followed my work and felt original work was out of budget. I hope this allows to invest in an original piece you love!

Any remaining pieces after this weekend will retire to my archives.

UP NEXT:

Over the summer, I experimented with a new medium: masking fluid. I painted the subject in the masking fluid, followed it with a wash of paint, and then peeled the fluid off to reveal the subject. They should be available at the end of September, so stay tuned for more details on these works!

So that's where this new series began. Watching how the birds fly around and sing out loud reminded me to slow down and revel in the beauty just outside the window. Their songs became the soundtrack to mornings spent noticing butterflies dancing, frogs jumping, and all the little moments of wonder that are so easy to miss.

Painting this collection made me want to create the next addition to my Have a Good Sleep book series that I recently started for Margaret! Before Margaret naps, I got into a habit of holding her by the window or this painting in her room and saying “have a good sleep _____ (sky, grass, flowers, etc.)” Thought it would be sweet for us to have a book that had some of our little phrases in it! THE TABLECLOTH COLLECTION

When planning Margaret’s first birthday last month, I decided to make her a tablecloth for our small family celebration. I chose the “Boykin Pink” print to match all our other pink things :) With the exception of items from our wedding, I really don’t have a ton of tablecloths, placemats, or things of that sort and I love that I have added an item to our collection that will always remind me of my baby girl’s first birthday. I look forward to using it in more occasions to come!

There are a lot of things I’ll remember about our first year together—the first smile, the first laugh, and the first time she clapped. Daily strolls to get coffee after barely sleeping. But I will especially always remember reading her If I were a Butterfly over again and again—so much so that I can recite it by memory and if you asked me to capture our first year in a painting, it would be filled with butterflies.

Creating this Butterfly Rainbow series on her birthday felt like a fitting way to mark her one year. Not just because it became a favorite book of ours, but because it was also a year that, like butterflies, was filled with change and growth.

I hope these works capture how joyful and transformative one year of Margaret has been. My favorite part of winter is when the daffodils start to bloom. They feel like a sun rising on a gloomy winter. Was thrilled to have a few pop up in our yard and plucked a few to keep in a vase by the kitchen window. Can’t wait for Margaret to see what the neighborhood looks like with flowers in full bloom soon.

I really wanted to paint some florals that felt like they had been torn out of an 18th century flower book, so I painted all kinds of bright, colorful flowers onto parchment colored backdrops. Of course, as The Devil Wears Prada always reminds us, florals for spring are not groundbreaking—-but, they remain classic and timeless all the same.

1. THE NEW ABC GOLF BOOK

A new board book! I’m thrilled to share this one. Inspired by my husband’s love of golf, I illustrated a watercolor ABC golf print a few years back and have now turned it into this sweet board book. The pages are VERY durable and have (so far) withstood Margaret (who has already torn out quite a few book pages). I have a lot in my brain book wise right now and am can’t wait to share more throughout the year.

5. THE BOYKIN BLANKET IS BACK!

After selling out last year, ChappyWrap brought back the “Boykin” blanket. This design features my lily of the valley print and I think it’s my favorite of all the blankets we did. Overjoyed to share what I have been working on this month—some fun and whimsical birds, titled Avian Field Notes! This is the first series I’ve painted in my new GA studio AND, most memorably, the first one with Margaret on the move. So fun to put her down and watch her speed towards these works and grab them!

Onto the works…

AVIAN FIELD NOTES

I have not painted herons since Spring 2024 and have been itching to paint more of this subject in new colors, especially after moving into our Georgia home. I have been getting so much inspiration from these blank walls and thinking about what would work in the space—it’s expanded my palette to more reds, violets, and browns and led me down a rabbit hole of 18th century bird illustrations, specifically John James Audubon’s. Audubon’s bird studies still flock to people’s walls all these years later which is wild to think about...

What is it about herons that makes multiple generations want to hang them on the walls? Perhaps it’s how graceful and peaceful they feel. I also read some cultures believe them to be good luck—-so, I hope these are like lucky charms and bring good things to your new year.

To begin this series, I sketched some classic silhouettes of herons and bird groupings, and then infused them with more flowers, joy, and color: everything from foxgloves to irises and palettes with bright pink! I hope the ones I’ve painted give you the same timeless, classic feeling as Audubon’s but with additional layers of modern whimsy.

And, after getting so much enthusiasm around my hand painted bibles, I added 10 of those into the collection as well; all heron inspired to fit this collection. I’m hoping to do a couple of bibles each month. I enjoy painting on different surfaces every so often and this is a fun way to do that. Thank you for your support!

As we wrap up the year, I wanted to emphasize how grateful I am for your support. It’s heart bursting and thrilling to see my art in someone’s home. This year was also my first year juggling work and motherhood, and it all felt a liiiiiittle easier to manage because of you—having print orders come in while my hands were mostly full with a baby instead of paintbrushes allowed me to spend ample time with my sweet girl without stressing that the business I’d spent a decade building would crumble. Thank you so much for that incredible gift.

SETTLING IN

If you missed my last email, we recently moved to my hometown in Georgia and have been spending December unpacking. Now the boxes are gone, the art has been hung, and my feet are resting on a coffee table that our last home didn’t have space for with a baby.

I’m looking forward to starting 2026 in the blank slate that is this new house, where the bare dining room walls and living room windows are already filling me with a myriad of novel ideas. Blank walls always excite me…

THE GOLF PRINT

One of the first things I painted was for our family room. My husband insisted a golf landscape would be something neutral so this 60x40 in. acrylic painting (above) is now on our wall. Playing the long game here and hoping flowers will be considered neutral in our dining room ;)

I decided to make it a limited time canvas print and you can see the info. on that here if you are interested.

GOODBYE TO CHARLOTTE

Over a decade ago I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina with my paints, my tiny yorkie Rocky and a small uhaul. For years I worked out of small one bedroom apartments— where my art overflowed into the kitchen and I spent countless nights staying up late with Rocky to overthink all the ways we could make my art business be more successful. I worked my first pop up events here. Taught my first art classes here. Illustrated my first children’s book. Painted my first outdoor mural the confetti hearts wall. Made lifelong friends. Had too many Sycamore blondes. Spent too much money on concert tickets at Coyote Joes. Met my husband here and had our first date at Old Mecklenburg Brewery. Became a mom. Survived the early days of motherhood together by walking rail trail every morning for iced coffees.

And now a new chapter awaits…

HELLO GEORGIA

After a lot of thought, my husband and I have decided to move to my hometown Columbus, Georgia to be closer to family. My parents found a house that we are excited about and, as sad as it is to leave, it just felt like the right thing for this season. I’ll miss so many things about Charlotte, but I am looking forward to settling into a new home, seeing my parents more, and especially for Margaret to grow up closer to her cousins.

I’m packing up boxes (SO MANY BOXES) as we speak and will be settling in to a new home studio very soon…

I hope you enjoy this season with your families and I look forward to sharing more art with you from my new space in 2026.

THE PRAY SERIES III

Back with another small collection of hand painted bibles! So encouraged and inspired by the enthusiasm around this series. This batch includes 30 works with a portion of the proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This series started as a baptism gift for my baby girl and I can’t wait to show her one day how she inspired me to paint a collection of works that benefitted St. Jude.

I also scanned in some of the covers and created a small number of 5x7 art prints— each has the option to add on professional framing with in 3 in. mats.

Today’s new “pray” series began when I started thinking about painting something for baby girl Margaret to commemorate her baptism. The first thought was a watercolor cross, which turned into a desk full of watercolor crosses, and then I shifted mediums and started painting on the cover of a bible. I am overjoyed with the result and am excited for her to have this special piece of art from me…
