I truly can’t believe we’re at the end of August. It’s been quite the busy month. Filled with fire, organization, gathering with family and friends in the micro moments of the weekends or between oddly placed 3pm doctors appointments. Waking up early to tend to the land and bid good morning to the goats. Things are ever so slowly falling into place; This months theme for me has been circling my psyche even if I’ve been avoiding the positivity within it: “Slow progress, is still progress nonetheless” Rather than guilting myself for not constantly being productive, being kind to my mind whilst the body asks for rest, and accepting it — Has been my revolving theme. This piece reminds me to dig deep and find the inner willingness to keep going, I know she’s in there, she just needs a hug and a guiding hand, which I know we humans, all need from time to time…

Beneath the glowing gleaming green leaves 
Bustlin’ above me 
Let’s go somewhere new 
Untrodden
Uncomfortable 
Let’s break the ice 
Knocking on heaven’s door 
Asking for the knobs 
That haven’t been touched before
Lay down your guns 
Find the words in your throat 
Announce them to the World
With your chest 
Stand up 
Listen 
The cries of your soul
The tears of your neighbors 
The doubts of society 
Find the light 
Wherever your heart is called 
There is purpose for you there

Petals ꕤ | Where it came from

This piece was written sometime in March or April 2026. All because a gal passed me while I was busking in downtown Santa Cruz... See, I was typing a poem inspired by my surroundings, which I do often on my slower days. A fellow busker was playing a cover of Knocking on Heavens Door. I typed this piece as he played into the streets of Santa Cruz then tucked it sweetly and safely away from the wind beneath my typewriter. A few minutes later a young woman passes me on the sidewalk, glances at me with my vintage smith corona, and keeps walking, I bid her a smile as our eyes meet. It's the next piece of the interaction that hooked me, she comes running back and says, "Okay this is really weird but I had to show you this." She flipped her phone towards me to show me her personaly Co-Star app quote of the day, "Poetry is in the Streets" I looked at her with wide eyes as if the universe ever so purposefully placed each other in the others pathway. While she didn't nessecarily ask for a poem, the stars might've wanted one to be bestowed upon her, or maybe I just wanted to help commemorate this day for her, to show at least one person that poetry is alive, art is still breathing, creatives are still trying... How something digital, barely tangible, and quite as esoteric and AI generated as Co-Star... Can become a human reciept of connection. I like to think that it was a little meant to be, possibly just a coincidence... Yet a piece of me believes that some sort of magic had to be involved in this serendiptious sync between her and I. So I gave her this poem and didn't ask for anything in return. For she granted me the simple beauty of being seen, being the active physical vessel for poetry, and to be able to write poetry for the people who are truly yearning for it.

What a summer can change

Oh my dearest substack readers,

What a summer it has been. One full of transitions, finding grounding & rejuvenation, figuring out how to hone those energies when life sways other ways. So much has changed, it feels like just a simple summer season. Yet timelines have been crossed, old dreams have been found and new ones have been rebirthed. Going from the North Carolina mountains trying to make a certain life fit over my uncertain psyche, to actually realizing I truly am a swirling twirling unfurling sphere of sunshine. Finding a community of people that also love to twirl and unfurl amid the shining stars and exploding nebulas of life, creating tangible moments of presence and connection with strangers through poetry and the spoken whimsical word, getting to read together snuggled up on the couch under the cozy cream blankets of a sweet coastal farmhouse, to live and tend an especially sacred and serendipitous land beneath the redwood forest, singing me songs with the wind, if you listen and slow down, you can hear it just right; I now get to tend and twirl in the gardens, brushing her vines, cleaning her foundations, so true twinkling rebirth, may commence within her sweet roots; Flopping onto the muted blue carpet of the living room to snuggle with Apollo as he stretches out his big fuzzy belly; Ramblin’ and runnin’ round the chicken coop with the goats & chicks trying to tuck them all into bed at dusk, they’re the cutest little fluffy quirky babies, one night I went out at 10pm with my headlamp just to check in on them, they’ve definitely stolen my heart.

Something has shifted

Things… Have changed, I have changed, my environment and communities have changed gratefully, while much is the same, I’ve graciously gained new souls whilst bidding farewell to others. I even think the way I’m going about my craft as an artist is changing. There’s less guilt yet more pressure. Create create create… As I reflect on this bubbling feeling inside my center, the need to apologize profusely to my community for not showing up enough. The lack of conversation & connection. I’ve realized that I mostly want to beg forgiveness from myself; Not showing up enough for her, her art, her delusional dreams, the way she is in love with humanity’s culture, all its oddities and peculiarities. Learning how to navigate the balances of life, where to prioritize energy and when to say no… There’s been a sacred switch, I’ve felt it, the collective has felt it and I know even if you can’t name it. You can feel it too…

The pressure to perform the old self

I’m outgrowing certain versions of myself and feeling strangely guilty for doing so. Maybe I don’t feel like an imposter because I’m incapable of becoming this person… Maybe I feel like an imposter because I’m still emotionally attached to the person I was before I became her. The girl who thought a specific traditional dream was meant to be for her, when in reality, it was the catalyst for the healing that needed to take place in my soul… No sweet love, you don’t have to marry your high school sweetheart, I promise it is not a prerequisite for the life you truly crave to live. Something I wish I could whisper into her ears… Yet, there’s even parts of me from the last few years, whilst back in California that I have had to let go of parts of myself, since they truly didn’t serve me, my mind, my community, nor my dreams. Why I thought I had to perform for others, to be loved and accepted by all, I’m not sure. I’m grateful to be able to revel in certain realizations that only time can grant. Recently, I came across a cosmic quote that spoke to the depths of my vessel, “You’re becoming someone new, and people are going to notice. Stop performing the old version of you just because everyone recognizes them.” Honestly, this piece of cosmic literary gold made me stop and truly reflect on myself, how I hold myself around others, whom I change myself around ever so slightly. While it is slight at the moment, I believe the consequences of my actions may have resulted in a domino effect of illuminative introspection… Navigating the strange and eerie experience of having people know an older version of me, juxtaposing the trickling temptation to keep behaving like her because she is familiar to everyone. Why can growth sometimes feel like betrayal? Maybe… It is because the old version of me had her own dreams and divine desires. While the current version of me is striving towards completely different ones. She feels unseen, unheard, a tad hopeless that her way didn’t work out the way she wanted it too; That her dreams and her own person aren’t good enough because the desired result never came to fruition… I love her unconditionally for having such dreams, such desires, and I hold her hand to walk her through the gallery of my life, to lovingly show her that things turned out better than okay, let her observe the beauty that we’ve worked for and the darkness we traversed to get there. However, may I grant myself the space to be witnessed while changing? Can I let myself be unfamiliar? I now meander my psyche for the acceptance of allowing myself to be seen while becoming. Which, if I truly ponder this sense of becoming. I believe it may just be something our human souls will pursue evermore. Continually unfurling into new versions of ourselves. Like a butterfly. Fluttering beneath the forest, being seen by all the other insects, animals, plants and humans alike. After spending so much time in one’s chrysalis, growing and fighting for your place in the world, betwixt all the juxtaposing juices this life experience tries oh so elegantly to offer us… Life is too short not to prance and dance amongst the flowers of mother earth’s garden, no matter if society is fond of your dance moves or doesn’t like your particular cup of tea…

Imposter syndrome enters the room

It’s almost as if I have realized who I am, what I can do, and that there truly is nothing stopping me from my dreams. Except me, my mind, and this fine fellow in the corner, everyone say hello to imposter syndrome. While it feels like it’ll never cease to stray away from the corner of my mind, I think I can pretend it’s not there, and through time, I won’t notice it anymore. The inkling whispers that I can do it, that I can truly do it. And it can be whatever you or I shall please; With the work, the self-love, time, dedication, perseverance, and all the dark and light days between; Dreams truly can become a reality.

The permission to take up space

My sweet friend, fellow typewriter poet, writer and truly an ever blooming extraordinary soul, Zoe Branch, recently responded to a question I had for her on Instagram about how she’s navigated her own experiences with imposter syndrome while writing her first novel, Daughter Daughter. Rosily resulting in a six minute recorded response full of honesty, truth, and the breakdown of how imposter syndrome is not real; How society’s social tool has a grasp on so many artists, including myself; Has tortured our minds into believing that we the people/the artists/the creators/our art – should not take up space in the world. While sometimes I have to tell myself over and over again, to rebuild these negative neuropathways into brand new positive ones that my mind may frolic along… I know that it’s worth it, I know that putting myself out in the world does something. I’ve been shown through strangers, my family, surrounding communities, the micro moments between the rays of sunlight; That others have felt the magical presence & connection seeping through my art, whether it be my words, the strokes of a burnt umber on watercolor paper, or a piece of cafe brown cardstock I quietly bestow into your poppy palms.

Rest before becoming

The strange grief of becoming is quite the spectrum. While my mind constantly says to do more, be more, write write write… I sit back and wonder, if becoming someone new isn’t about doing more, rather it’s about finally becoming quiet enough to hear who I’ve already become. To be able to surrender to the stillness of the wind on my face, when it feels like it’s been so long since I’ve slowed down to do so… They are after all, kisses granted by mother earth, those no longer with us or even those from afar sending love, upon my supple amber olive face. To be able to sit down, turn off my mind for just a few minutes, and truly reflect on how far I’ve come not only in my writing, but as a human being, a woman, a current citizen in society, I’m honestly in a place where I can say I am proud of my life, everything I’ve been through, all the labyrinths full of nooks and crannies I’ve roamed round and round and round. Now, after reminiscing within what it took to get here. I know not to push myself beyond recognition, to work towards burn out like it’s an achievement, to try and get an entire to-do list done in one day; It is these things that take away the magical energy our bodies and minds most need… Another mystical quote made its way into my purview this last week, “You need to rest before your next chapter begins. Step away from the noise and listen to what your inner world is trying to tell you.” Hit me like a truck when I initially read it, and yet somehow also felt like a blanket of relief… That my inner world needed some loving attention rather than procrastination. I had an off week this month, when things felt again, a little too loud… I reached out to one of my elegant fiery family members to help me traverse these feelings, what felt like a lonesome emotion; I’ve found so, so many of us as people, artists, and human souls; Truly feel very similar if not the same feelings and we all navigate them in silence… When in reality, we don’t have to do it alone, we don’t have to suffer behind our screens on the couch, however it does mean we gotta get up and do the thing. The secret I was reminded of during this off week of mine, “Do LESS!” and “One thing at a time.” Circling back to an oldie but one hell of a goodie, you don’t have to do everything all at once, and it is okay to focus on one thing at a time. Rather than try to nurture a million different ideas, focusing on one at a time, to watch it bloom and grow; May just bring more solace to the psyche than we as society has taken it for; So rest and slow down, revel in whatever your body and mind needs to revel within (truly sit with yourself, ask, listen with love, & kindly grant yourself what you need in this moment) take your time, and intentionally curate your life and your craft; So through the seasons, that strange grief of becoming, isn’t so strange anymore…

Declaration of devotion

As I declare the spectrum of this sacred switch, my current happenings, and my newfound ability to create what I actually want to create. My dreams of writing have become my purpose, and this is my declaration to become divinely devoted to it.

Why hello there sweet substack sweetpea!

I truly didn’t intend for these posts to be published a month apart from each other… Yet, the universe has a funny way of sneaking up on us and throwing our psyches to the wind. The wind, this time, took me into the Pacific Northwest. Into the Dark Star and on to the highway. Before that I felt like I couldn’t breathe, but not in a bad depressing way. More like the ocean waves just kept thrashing and crashing, opportunities, transitions, connections, letting go, surrendering to what is and I couldn’t get a breath of fresh air before the next wave was twirling me through the tides. June really had me jumping to and fro. I kind of let it all mold into one big kerfuffle & there was a day I cried on the couch because life just felt a little too, loud. My nervous system felt like it was in overdrive. So, naturally, she saught peace, protection, a place to prance freely. It was quite aligning that my partner and I had planned our first roadtrip together at the time I most needed it.

Grateful and glowing feels like an understatement regarding this piece. As I revel in a love that feels like its lifted from my dreams (truly someone pinch me,) to reflecting on a time when I didn’t know I was worthy or even deserved such a thing… The last few years, I’ve found my sunshine, and continually I learn how to carry it and shed it throughout my days. Yet, if it weren’t for the years of darkness, I’m not sure who I would be.

This piece is inspired by a time in my life that I don’t talk about too much anymore, the girl in this piece, her memories, they’re starting to slip away. I love her for who she was, but I’m so happy she’s grown

Clouds of darkness imbue themselves into our minds 
Like a storm we conjured together 

Lights always off 
Headphones always blaring 
Pillow always hiding 

As we kept ourselves in a time loop of chaos
Behind the curtains
Never to be seen 

Each others futures lurking in the shadows around us 
Just waiting for us to claim them 

Remember the time on the broken bridge above the creek 
Spinning me in circles 
Only because I asked 

The memories of us are starting to fade away
Waking up to Jack Johnson
3am Waffle House trips 
Sunday conversations on the deck 

They're getting hard to recollect 
I think I've purposely misplaced them 
Polaroids of time I no longer wish to harbor 

I wrote a poem once 
A long time ago
"Perfectly Imperfect" 
A piece about a hurting soul
Who's forgotten how to shine 

Something deep inside her knew
That to be perfectly imperfect
Is one of the most humane things 
One could ever accept

Jumping into our digital spaces one by one. I’ll be so honest, I thought I was going to miss this because of connection issues… By the final minute, I was accepted into the Zoom room of poets.

In the recent months, I’ve been invited on to ARS Poetica’s roster as a typewriter poet and illustrator, and offerer of sunshine services. A dream come true; What is ARS Poetica? ‘Tis a women owned creative events agency that homes a roster of Typewriter Poets beneath the whimsical wings of our founder Lisa Ann (LAMarks) Markuson. She’s also a co-host alongside Arlene Grullon for ARS Poetica’s weekly poetic gathering elegantly entitled Casa Poetica. A morning ritual I’ve come to yearn for each thursday morning since coming onto the poet team.

Serendipitously soon after I added Casa Poetica into my weekly ritual, another gathering was boldly birthed in the shadows of the digital realm… Casa Poetica has started a collaborative poetry salon with The Narrative Method and their host Zack Gill! (2nd & 4th Wednesdays of every month) TNM is a non-profit organization & movement founded by Sheri Foos, based in my backyard (California) illuminatively instilled within their vision is their 12 core concepts; Creating a space for individuals from all walks of life to go deeper. Through culture, stories, and raw creativity; Weaving a space for more insight into the self & deep connection with others.

I’m often drawn towards spaces with poetic whimsy juxtaposed with a lens of raw introspective curiousity. I’ve found poetry asks for this, almost longs for it. What can you find betwixt your pages? What lies beneath the layers of your soul? How can I go about this process present & prancing rather than tumbling & tripping… I will find out soon, in this zoom room full of ramblers & revelers.

As I settled into the gardens of Chez Serendip, I bounced right into the poetic practice, greeted by a handful of smiles; A sweet & intimate group for my second time with TNM. As our little profile boxes nuzzled into their prospective spaces; Arlene guided us through a connective mindfulness practice, easing us into a community meeting that got us in touch with our present selves & environments; While I was in fruitful glowing gardens, it was refreshing to stop, and take a breath.

After community time we were introduced to one of TNM’s 12 core concepts, something to ponder, a piece for your writing, use it how you’d like; Narrative Awe: Embracing awareness, wonder & empathy without judgement, expression, without fear, and connection without limits. I personally didn’t use this piece in my poem but I find it sweet to have a twinkling theme guiding us throughout each cycle.

Arlene read us a poem from our poet guide for this salon, Ursula K. Le Guin, titled Buzzard Visit. She was a poet, novelist, and writer most known for her works within fantasy and science fiction.

Buzzard Visit by Ursula K. Le Guin

It came on the sound its fingerfeathers

make the air make,

but it was silent. Was a silence. Folded

up its great hands

that hold winds,

settled its feet on a dead elm branch

firmly, cocked

that narrow, blood-colored head

like a pistol-barrel

at me, underneath. I am not dead,

yet, I said, but it waited

to see what I was doing.

Look, I said, I’m sewing!

But it knew we’re all, whatever else

we may be doing, dying.

The head was so fitted to red holes

and the beak to making them

as to be frightening,

but it was a patient, curious,

maybe a cheerful,

(withing the windsound

of the wide dark wings)

even a restful, silence.

After sitting within the branches of the community gardens, watching the ravens, hearing their cries. I sit with metaphorical buzzards bellowing in my mind. From swinging branch to branch whilst a new poem is read to me, to breaking off into each of our own individual writing nooks. Coffee in hand, incense lit, pen at the ready…

Our prompt for the this gathering: Reach for your edges & the edges of your edges; What lies in your shadows?

I sat in the joyful jazz Arlene had decided to spin on the digital vinyl for us, 14 minutes of unhinged writing just waiting to flood onto the pages of my golden flower bound notebook. This is the piece that swirled & twirled its way onto the page this grapefruit ray day:

Solitude beneath the stones

Oh the spiral pathway of my psyche
Stones laid for years to create
The texture of who I am
What my soul still craves to see

Movement magic
Barefoot bumbles
Vigorously shaking my body to the tunes of my souls psychedelic church choir
Juxtaposing the cheerful stillness within the tears streaming down my cheeks

As I let go of this liquid photo album
I reminisce, forgive & embrace all the women I once was
I offer each of them a bouqet of fragrant flowers beneath every one of their feets

If it wasn't for the lingering lint
This starry eyed sunshine gal
Would cease to exist

After 14 minutes fluttered by writing in the sunshine, we all nestled back into our digital poly spots… I admire TNM’s pattern for sharing pieces at their salons; Each writer may read their piece to the group, yet it shall remain heard in stillness and presence. While frolicking amidst feedback and kind remarks are lovely within other gatherings and workshops, I found it refreshing to sit within my piece. Rather than waiting on the edge of my seat to hear how others felt about it, it was sweet to speak my piece to the trees and let the words prance through the air without a response.

After we all collectively shared our pieces, we came back into our communal hub to revel in the community we’ve began to foster, as we all come from different paths, places; We commonly all seek presence and community. Bittersweetly ending the hour with sharing ways to get connected with other writers, workshops, creative spaces in our communities and online (open mics, local library, local bookstores, online poetry salons). The open willingness to get others to write, find like-minded psyches to create with, searching for spaces to share our art; I smile knowing that beauty still exists in this world even within the chaos of our society’s systems.

Before I bid you farewell, I shall do the same; I offer you the opportunity to go to a poetry salon, a writers workshop, find a prompt on pinterest; Find a way to create whether solo or in community, just create and play without judgement. What if you don’t write? Do absolutely anything that gets your inner child, that playful part of you, even that naively curious side, and run with them hand in hand till you find something that makes your soul spin round and round…

Wow wow wow… It’s been almost a month since I’ve written this piece. The last line is sticking with me like reminicent inscence, lingering on my dresses. I like to reflect on pieces a little after I write them, ruminating in the juxtaposing juices of imposter syndrome and soulful truth. We’re human, constant changers and life experiencers; I have a feeling I’ll always be growing, reflecting, beautifying, learning; I think, not only do I like that, but I’m learning to flow with it in positive acceptance rather than bouncing with tension.

This piece is a little glimpse into my glamour magic ritual, which has grown immensely in the shadows and dim lights of my bathroom over the last year as well as my willingness to forgive, yet never forget, and still letting go, moving forward.

To see into strange souls
Gel atops my eyebrows
For inquisitive insight bound with kind curiousities

I let go of my losses

I’m reading the piece I’m publishing right now, I’m kind of laughing at myself. With love and a hint of irony. “Reveling in rest” … I’d like to do that. Find long roads of stillness rather than micro slivers of deep breathes. I smile with gratitude and tiresome eyes, as I’m moving and organizing my things. It’s been quite a few years since I’ve done this. The transition of material things, letting your nervous system ground into a new environment, tiding up what once was and clearing space for what will be… This piece reminds me of the tarot card I pulled for the month of June during my “Year Ahead Spread” which was the Major Arcana card: The Hermit; Symbolizing rest, serene solitude, going within and nurturing the self; When we do this, we show up for ourselves and others. I know when I don’t, I have a harder time going about my days. I’m excited for where my substack is going, how paid subscribers will soon get a physical piece of poetry mailed to them every month, creating new styles of pieces delving into prose and article writing about music, interviewing other artists, open mics & poetry circles, maybe a podcast? You may think me crazy, but this is just the beginning…

One of my favorite weekly rituals is a poetic gathering space with my fellow typewriter poets at ARS Poetica. This week during our Casa Poetica gathering, hosted by our Director of People Arlene Grullon, we played with a prompt that dropped us into the present & then innovated that mindset into a whole new one (at least that’s what happened in my poem.) The first line ‘had’ to be the first thing that popped into your mind in terms of where each of us were at emotionally, spiritually, personally, then write its inverse. Personally, I was in a dark-esque space, yet writing everything out and calling in what I want even if I don’t feel that way entirely, is still powerful. I hope my piece peaks some moments of pondering within your day

Savoring Space

Mirrors mashed with melancholy;
Unknown oddities run amidst the mansion of my mind
Glowing golden grapefruit juices seep from my center
Rather than attending to societies atrocities
I shall cast a magical reality
From defending divine delays
To praising present potential
I will shake my shoulders & toss my hair
For any energy that does not serve me
Will never ever diminish my flair
Leaning into illumination
Reveling in rest
Becoming one with the keys of the prancing piano, sways of the sassy saxophone
Reminding me to reconnect with my inner Redwood tree

Dearest subscribers & sweet readers,

As I sit in my car outside Kaweah Coffee Roasters in Three Rivers just south of Sequoia national park; I write to you with an open heart, and an amber aura. I sit here in my newly furnished fairy-like honda civic, giving you a piece from a Casa Poetica gathering with Arlene Grullon a few weeks ago. This day I rolled out of bed and casted a sanguine spell, one involving introspection, acknowledging where I am, where I want to go and most importantly how I’ve been holding myself back from my potential to prance at full soul capacity, for my ever-growing psyche knows there is more, more in the past to forgive, more in the future to welcome. As I step into divine disconnection, releasing technology for a few days, I call in everything I have been avoiding within myself, so I may come out of this pool, refreshed, rebirth, and ready to live the life with vigorous energy I know its yearning for.

I shall learn to behold my boldness, for in its stillness and its spins; She speaks volumes into this vast universe

Behold Your Beloved Being

Jump into the goddamn painting
The one that entranced me to have sight of my soul
The opening of my eyes
To the light
The ever oneness
The streaks of my magical exsistence
The magic that I am

Forsake negative neuropathways from the withering wallow they whence came from
Boldly build prancing pathways of positivity
Step into yourself

I unclaim who I once was, the lives I have lived & believed I was destined to travel
For the life I know is truly twinkling in the distance
Daintily dangling light & authenticity

I claim uncomfortability
I call in change
For my higher self is screaming into the depths of my psyche
To jolt out of my warm bed of dreams
Embrace the uncertainty & start living with light

For I am the invitation of Evermore Sunshine
My power pushes people to meet their sunshiney shadows
Transmuting their pain, into power

As I listen to 1940's blues
The vast echoing voices vigorously remind me of the shackles I have places upon my silently scarred wrists

Yet

Reflective mirrors imbue grapefruit gold rays betwixt my periphery
So I many grasp her shining aura arms
That will wisp me back to my heavenly solar home

Dearest subscribers & sweet readers,

I hope this weeks piece finds you in a place of authenticity and fervor. As I write this letter-esque check in, I sit at the Santa Cruz cliffs in my car, away from the beading sunshine and windows slightly open to welcome the mid-spring breeze. The last few weeks have been magical with a slight juxtaposition of chaos, maybe a big juxtaposition. Yet, this has been a week for me of practicing the art of non-attachment, letting go, and surrendering to the divinely unknown future. I know my path is waiting for me, divine delays are also in store, and I sit behind my new computer (thank you and eternally grateful for my Momma) to make some sense of the chaotic magic that surrounds me. For magic comes in all shapes and sizes, within micro moments to large life equalizers.

This piece was written at the 4th session of April’s Casa Poetica gathering hosted by alchemic poet Arlene Grullon, we learned and sat in the present space of Jive Poetic & his work as an artist. This weeks prompt was “Old school to new school; What beats & rhythms groove you” As I shared with my fellow poets after reading my piece to them, I didn’t mean to, but I had begun a continuation piece from the previous Casa Poetica gathering. It’s quite sweet when writing syncronizes subconsciously.

P.S Find time to breathe & care for your mind/body this week; What can you do to foster a more intentional & present Mind:Body connection? From a cup of tea to a walk in the park, what is your soul craving?

My answer - I want to find a longer piece of itme to do a longer yoga practice (40mins-60mins instead of 15mins-20mins) & I want to consciously journal to my music of choice without feeling guilty or rushed (I ran out of ink for my fountain pen, yet not an excuse lol)

Soulful Saunter Pt 2

Let us wisp through the tunes of time
Adorn our ears with exquisite enlightenment
Vigorously violins sing their symphonic psychedelic melodies
Lifting, swirling, running wild betwixt my magical mind
Serenading my skin
Soothing sorrows with sunshiny sensations
Yet;
Conventional creation
Is not my style
I must glide across the moonlight serenely swimming in the river
Don't box me in
You just can't see
How easy it is
For me to dance & prance from the 50's to the 70's
Throw me into the streets of New Orlenas
Where concrete meets ancestral oddities
Riddle me inquiries the heartfelt hippies implored into our society
Rippling generational dreams
Letting rage ramble amongst the pages of our leather bound journals
I dance with the divine
Intake her magical medicine
Investigating my human experience with raw authentic feral wild woman eyes
Surrendering the facade as ngoni's pluck & peer their way into my bubbling brain
So that through music
Magic may convey
Classical clarity

Dearest Souls of Substack,

Happy Beltane! The day of fire and passion as the Earth returns to the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. I find solace in nature’s cycles and her divine timing, reveling in the sun, wallowing in the rain; it’s all a part of the process.

On another note… I became a roster typewriter poet with ARS Poetica this month, a dream come true on many different planes. This piece was written at my first Casa Poetica gathering/circle/space with other poets and artists on the team. It’s beginning to become one of my favorite early Thursday morning rituals. I shall write an Ode to April, for she has imparted me with much wisdom and miraculous magic.

Dear Substack,

Well, lots has been happening! Anywhere from quitting my fulltime job at the coffee shop, creating a foundation for myself to be able to write full time, finding a poetry community, reveling in time spent with loved ones and friends I haven’t seen in a long time, going back to the coffeeshop part time, driving up and down the central coast, reading & creating connections with people, strangers, fellow souls on the earth… My God am I loving it. It is a lot, yet in such a good way. I’m not sure if this Aries stellium is effecting everyone, I’m sure it is in its own divine way; A piece of wild women wisdowm I can provide during times of chaos whether positive, negative or neutral; Find ways to soothe and nurture your nervous system: Yoga, journaling, cozying up and watching your comfort movie. Find time and create the space to just be with you without feeling guilty. We recharge ourselves so we can show up for ourselves and each other <3

Cold snowy winter mornings 
As the silence slips beneath the old oak panels of our home 
Clouds of darkness imbue themselves into our minds; 
Like a storm we conjured together

Dear Diary, 
	I did a really cool thing two days ago. Cool is an understatement; It was actually quite divine, and its a day I’d like to remember and reflect on in detail. So let’s go through the day; Saturday 12/28/2025 

	I figured it was a good a day as any to start busking as a typewriter poet. Albeit, I was and am still very nervous going about it. But there was something in me that day, I really wanted to take a step out into the eyes of the world, so to speak. I procrastinated choosing a space from afar, but when I realized there was a show that night, I could grow two trees with one seed and do both. I left my hometown a little later than I had planned still got to the city in the midafternoon. I originally was scouting the park and the Haight Ashbury district, after spending awhile finding parking. I got my little rolling suitcase and green Trader Joe’s canvas bag to set out to find a spot to set up somewhere in the park. Haight was a bit overwhelming for my first time busking so I set off to the edge of the park instead. I let my intuition guide me and found myself at the pond a little tucked away from the main path, but still had good foot traffic. After finding a spot I started taking out my things, foldable table and chair, typewriter, cards, signs, mason jar and settled into my seat. My back was facing the pond and people could come up to me and ask me for poems. I had two signs, each sitting at the foot of my table. I will say, I was at a teeny bit of a slant, so the typewriter was sliding on top of the bandana I had put down, decided to put it away. I do love the table bare, the green and cream florals make me really smile. 
	I first wrote a poem to all the people of the park, I figured if I was writing people may seem more intrigued. I also felt that I had so much inspiration around me that even if no one had come up to me that day, I would have still walked away with beautiful pieces inspired by my surroundings. The crazy thing is, people did come up to my table and ask me for poems. Each one was different, all so beautiful and intertwined in many ways. A lot of people are going through big life changes and transitions right now. I find it really beautiful that strangers can connect over similar feelings in each others individual human experiences. 
	The first woman to come up was a very sweet gal, I wrote her a poem as she sat next to me on a rock. I got to read it to her and talk to her about life and similar experiences we’ve had. She’s also an artist and she sat the same amount of time in the nippy breeze with me. She was wire wrapping me a talisman. I almost cried, it brought me a lot of joy to trade energetic art pieces with a stranger. 
	The next two poems were a couple and they wanted two different pieces. The time I spent with each of them, conversing and sharing each others situations and stories, truly made my day. I left the woman with a hug goodbye. Her and I had been going through similar internal turmoil surrounding being seen, which has been an integral lesson for myself this year and I’m continually learning through it. 
	The last poem I wrote for the day was for a guy on a run. I found it really sweet that he was actively running and stopped to come over for a poem and some intentional connection. It was fun to write him a piece about running through the park; I was actively smiling through it because parts of it were a little silly, and maybe a little flirty, yet also introspective. 
	After I read his poem to him, he continued his run and I started to take my set up down. When I could start to see my breath in front of me, I knew it was time to go somewhere and get warm before the show. I also desperately needed to find a bathroom because I drank way too much Yerba mate while I was busking. However,  I was feeling very light and sunny while I was writing and afterwards. Something I find really cool is when I went to find a bathroom, the first gal I wrote a poem for was still wire wrapping under a redwood tree. I went up to her and kindly asked her if she would watch my things while I went to find a restroom. She graciously watched it for me. I find it really in tune that I gave my typewriter and belongings to the very first person I wrote a poem for to keep safe for a little while till I came back. She had finished the talisman and I teared up when she gave it to me. We sat and talked about art and being seen for a little while till it got too cold to sit any longer. 
	I called my friend and she suggested I go get cozy and grounded in the car and then go stroll Haight with a hot coffee. I had a few hours before the show and I found that plan very intruiging. I walked the 5 blocks back to my car, got warm, organized my purse and vegged out for a little bit. I was a bit far from Haight street so I drove to park further. Little did I know that I would find the best parking spot on Haight that I’ve ever gotten. I parked on one of the corners of Haight street, roughly a block away from where I wanted to get coffee. I started walking there when I was very called to one of the vintage and contemporary shops called Suede. It was there that I found “my” Gunne Sax dress. I say “my” because I feel like each Gunne Sax emanates the person who brought it back to life. I have a friend who has a blue and beige floral, it emanates her energy; Another friend has an entirely cream and embroidered one and it emanated her energy as well. When I saw the green and cream black label Gunne Sax in this shop, I knew it was mine, even though I couldn’t buy it right then. If its meant for me, it’ll still be there when I go back. It was sweet to find out that the shop owner and I are from the same town and we got to chat about local oddities. It got a little crowded so I left, however I knew I was going to come back since it was close to where I parked. 
	The only place that was still open was the little Italian cafe, very hole in the wall, super adorable and tasty coffee. I got an extra hot dirty breve chai and set out to stroll the Haight. I went to a bookstore and got postcards that I’m going to typewrite a poem on to. I even got to chat with the workers about possibly setting up a typewriting event in their space, they gave me their managers contact information, I’m feeling hopeful since they’ve hosted similar events. 
	I kept walking around the Haight and found myself back at Suede, there was no one in the shop and I crept my way over to the Sale bin. Where I found what looked to be a huge sized vintage Laura Ashley dress, I figured why not try it on. The pattern is stunning. I tried it on and it looked as if it was tailored for me, plus the spin was immaculate. I purchased the dress and decided to wear it to the show I was going to that evening.

I do hope this piece finds you warm and cozy, it’s been quite stormy weather on the California coasts the last week or so. I wrote this piece in my common place/pocket journal at one of my favorite local breakfast diners in my hometown. There are weeks where the writing flows, yet the hormones & the psyche run amok with brooding bunnies. My sibling & I know that I have gathered such healing habits to ritually dance the bunnies away. However, I’m human. I am imperfect. I know not to dwell on the frustrations of being wrong, to swallow my pride and take responsibility. I’ve been acknowledging where I need to really work on myself, rather than entertaining the parts that have been watered enough. To be human to to be ever growing and changing, while it might be scary, I think it’s a good thing.

My dearest sunshiney readers,

I’m wishing a fond February for us all. I’m trying to find stillness this month as we have passed Imbolc on 2/1, the middle mark between Winter solstice & Spring Equinox. In other words, the light is slowly starting to come back into our days. Let’s begin to revel in them! Yet, I try not to forget, not to get too excited; Winter is still among us. I make a vow to February to find the magic in the mundane and the stillness of the silky skirts sitting in my drawers… Slowly yet certainly, observing our world come back to life after its sweet slumber. This poem is an observational piece of life lifting from the grasses of the Santa Cruz Lighthouse <3

Dear Substack Sunshines,

I’ve started writing my manuscript for my book I plan to publish, hopefully by the end of the year; However, I’m surrendering to the process and letting go of control. Rather than skip steps and forget certain aspects of the goal, I’ll intentionally go about it with curious optimism. Not all days are going to be good days, yet I’m eager to see where this new piece of me will take my work.

I was flipping through my journal trying to find a piece to transcribe today; I found this one, read through it and wanted to give myself a hug. I’ve come such a long way since this letter, yet the contents of it are still things I tell myself to this day. Some names have been changed, yet all the emotions are true.

I hope you can give the parts of yourself that are still hurting a hug today

Dear the parts of me that are still hurting, 

I acknowledge you. I see you. I love you. I promise we're doing so much better. It's been a year since you've left Michael. Yes, it still hurts sometimes, but the universe has shown us how to follow the light and how to find it in the darkest places. 

I acknowledge my wounded inner child. I love you, I see you, I'm proud of you. Starting to heal even though it hurts is so worth it. To smile, to dance, to laugh, to protect my innocence and peace. 

It's okay to hurt, to feel. It's temporary my love. But know I hold you, and cherish you and all that you are. You can do anything with your pain; Learning to inact positivity and light is what you are best at, don't lost this ability when the thoughts come, you mean too much to yourself and the world.

These are a few miniature poems designed in a certain way, almost like a spell; Rupi Kaur titled them ‘Declarations, Statement of Needs, and an Intended goal.’ Three pieces had beginning prompts and I created the last one on my own. I found these to be very quaint yet very effective. There’s actually a line from Rupi that I really adored reading before I wrote these pieces:

“I wrote about how I deserved someone who invested in the relationship just as much as I did. Someone who was not intimidated by my voice. If I was going to make space for another human being in my life, I wanted them to have qualities that would amplify my light, not dim it” - Rupi Kaur, Healing Through Words Workbook

I hope you find resonance in some of these small bundles of words that make me feel big feelings <3

As I reflect on the previous year, I acknowledge that we are all still in the midst of winter. I’ve been writing in a few of my journals more recently and reflecting on basically everything; it’s a lot, and it’s all very transitional and transformative. I’m really taking one day at a time, trying to imbue micro shifts that will eventually grow into macro changes. This piece reminds me to truly be me, no matter the circumstances. I know I’m a divine vessel, now trying to practice that in my daily life, that’s the kicker. I hope this piece reminds you to be yourself, to find the spaces that welcome you with open arms, and the people that let your lovelight shine no matter what.

Oh Love, just be yourself 
Keep spinning 
Always shine 
There's absolutely no reason to hide 
Spread your arms wide 
Darlin', skip your way through the tumble weeds
Shed and leave behind all your worries 
No need to please them 
They just can't see 
How truly and divinely lovely 
You can be 
So hold your head high 
Let your light illuminate the darkest parts of people's hearts 
Breakaway from the doubt that 
Swallows you whole 
Twirl your circle of protection 
Make magic your purpose 
Choose to turn away from 
The words
The systems 
The people 
The expectations 
To flow in sunshine
Evermore
