PRELIMS:

Meng Ding (35-10) v Cam Nelson (7-1)

We start at welterweight with two guys I’m not very familiar with, as Meng Ding and Cam Nelson look to start the card strong. Ding has 28 knockouts in 35 wins, so you can guess what he’s looking for, which should be fun. Nelson has a good mix of knockouts and submissions and seems to be more well-rounded, which could play a big part in this one. I think Nelson mixes the martial arts and gets a finish.

Prediction: Nelson by KO R2

Jingnan Xiong (19-3) v Julia Polastri (14-6)

Second time’s the charm for Jingnan Xiong, who looks to get her first win in the UFC as she takes on Julia Polastri at 115 pounds. Xiong was a really good fighter a couple of years ago in ONE, but it’s been forever since then, and this is probably as good a matchup as she’ll get. Polastri is alright but not someone I ever see being a threat in the division, but she’s got a chance to get a good name on her resume. I think even now Xiong will be able to get the win over Polastri, but I don’t see much after this.

Lawrence Lui (8-1) v Hector Santiago (6-1)

Some debuts here as Lawrence Lui meets Hector Santiago at bantamweight. Lui is cool and a scrapper, which did him well on Road to UFC, so it’ll be interesting to see him here in his UFC debut. I know nothing of Santiago, but he brings knockout power and will be looking to catch Lui here. I think Santiago might hurt Lui early, but Lui will survive and grind out a win.

Prediction: Lui by DEC

Jack Jenkins (14-4) v Sean Woodson (13-2-1)

Cool matchup at 145 pounds as Jack Jenkins takes on Sean Woodson with both looking to push for the rankings. I think Jenkins is a good fighter with great leg kicks who had a couple disappointing losses, but when he’s on, he’s a great watch. Woodson is a lovely striker and just a painful matchup for most due to his size. I think this’ll be a competitive fight, but I see Jenkins landing leg kicks and hurting Woodson in close and winning a decision.

Long Xiao (27-11) v Francesco Nuzzi (8-2)

Another couple of bantamweights on the card as Long Xiao welcomes Francesco Nuzzi to the UFC. Xiao has had some tough matchups in his UFC run but isn’t a slouch and has a good chance of getting the win here. Nuzzi is an odd signing to me as he’s not someone from Cage Warriors I would’ve expected them to sign, as he’s not done much and lost to a guy who couldn’t make it in the UFC, but he could shock me here. I think Xiao is the safe choice here.

Rei Tsuruya (11-1) v Kevin Borjas (11-5)

Great matchup here at 125 pounds as Rei Tsuruya and Kevin Borjas both look to build on wins last time out here. Tsuruya is a beautiful grappler who, after a loss to Joshua Van, took the time to improve and looked amazing last time out. Borjas is someone I always think will make a fight tough for his opponent, and he looked good last time out against someone I really rate in Andre Lima, so he could do it again here. This’ll be a fun watch, and I think after a competitive first round Tsuruya will get a submission in the second.

Andre Lima (11-1) v Namsrai Batbayar (10-1)

Another few flyweights to close the prelims as Andre Lima looks to respond to losing his 0 last time out as he welcomes Namsrai Batbayar to the UFC. Lima is someone I think has the talent and ability to compete at the top of the division, but as his last fight shows, he has no finishing instinct, and a fight can pass him by, so hopefully he finds some of that in this one and gives a great performance. Batbayar is a finisher, with all 10 of his wins coming via KO or submission. I think logically Lima will be the better fighter, but if he doesn’t improve on his last fight, then Batbayar could cause him serious problems.

MAIN CARD:

Bilal Hasan (9-0) v Nilson Rojas (9-0)

Debut time for two new flyweights as rising prospect Bilal Hasan takes on Nilson Rojas. Hasan is someone I’m very high on and can see him becoming a star at 125 pounds, and I’m excited to see him make his UFC debut here. Rojas is an unknown to me, but he brings an undefeated record at 9-0, similar to Hasan, and will also be looking for a knockout with seven knockout wins. I think Hasan is a future star and gets a first-round knockout.

Prediction: Hasan by KO R1

Levi Rodrigues Jr. (5-1) v Ce Liu (3-1)

Some 205ers next with Levi Rodrigues Jr. welcoming Ce Liu to the UFC. Rodrigues Jr. is always looking for a finish, and all of his fights end in a knockout win or loss. Liu is a kickboxer who is looking to make the switch over to MMA and has the chance to become a big Chinese MMA star. I think Liu gets a quick knockout.

Prediction: Liu by KO R1

Alex Perez (26-10) v Sumudaerji (19-7)

Rematch time at flyweight as Alex Perez and Sumudaerji look to settle the score after a no contest last time out. Perez is a solid fighter who’s still a guy who can beat most of the division, and he’ll be wanting to get the win here. Sumudaerji is a fun striker who has a ton of knockouts but has only won one fight by knockout in the UFC. I think of the two, Perez is better and should win this.

Prediction: Perez by DEC

Aoriqileng (26-13) v Kai Asakura (22-6)

Up a division to 135 pounds as Aoriqileng takes on Kai Asakura in all asian action on the main card. Aoriqileng is a classic good fighter who loses to the serious fighters in the division, but he’ll make it competitive. Asakura is a powerful puncher and, now at 135 pounds, had a successful debut last time out and will be looking for a quick win. I see Asakura getting another first-round knockout.

Prediction: Asakura by KO R1

Xiaonan Yan (19-5) v Denise Gomes (12-3)

Co-main event time as one of China’s own Xiaonan Yan looks to pick up the win to stop the hype train of Denise Gomes at strawweight. Yan is a good fighter who is unfortunate that China also has Weili Zhang, or else she’d be considered the best Chinese fighter to compete. Gomes is a fun prospect with some power to her punches and will be looking to get the biggest win of her career. I think this'll be a close matchup, but I see Yan being a bit smarter and winning a decision.

Prediction: Yan by DEC

Umar Nurmagomedov (20-1) v Yadong Song (23-9-1)

Now it’s time for our main event as Umar Nurmagomedov looks to pick up another big win as he takes on China’s own Yadong Song at 135 pounds. Nurmagomedov is a top fighter with amazing wrestling and decent enough striking, and a win here might get him another shot at the title. Song is a very entertaining fighter with great striking who has the talent to compete at the top but has struggled to go on a run and tends to lose to the world-class fighters, which isn’t a bad thing. I think this feels like Nurmagomedov winning a decision, but I can see Song having some good rounds.

PRELIMS:

Shanelle Dyer (7-1) v Elise Reed (8-5)

We start at strawweight as one of my favourite female prospects, Shanelle Dyer, looks to produce another knockout as she takes on Elise Reed. Dyer is a lovely striker, and someone I think can go far in the division. Reed is an alright test for most strawweights but will lose to the better fighters in the division, which I think Dyer is. I see Dyer getting another finish.

Prediction: Dyer by KO R2

Jackson McVey (7-2) v Wes Schultz (9-3)

Now up to 185 pounds as both Jackson McVey and Wes Schultz look to build on their first UFC wins. McVey has all first-round finishes for wins and will go for it, which is entertaining. Schultz is a good grappler and likes a finish too, so this should be an interesting one. I think McVey catches Schultz early.

Prediction: McVey by KO R1

Gauge Young (11-3) v Stan Dorsainvil (5-0)

Two young lightweights meet here as Gauge Young welcomes Stan Dorsainvil to the UFC. Young has done well so far in the UFC with two wins coming into this one and will be looking to get another win here. Dorsainvil is making his debut here after stepping in on short notice and has four finishes in his five wins. I’d say the safe choice is Young wins a decision.

Márcio Barbosa (18-2) v Ryan Kuse (9-2)

We’ve got some featherweights next as Márcio Barbosa looks to get another first-round knockout as he takes on UFC newcomer Ryan Kuse. Barbosa is a very entertaining fighter with 15 knockouts all in the first round, so he’s coming for the kill every time. Kuse is a newcomer who likes a knockout but looking at his resume there isn’t much to be impressed with and any step up in competition he has struggled with. This feels like a safe Barbosa knockout pick.

Prediction: Barbosa by KO R1

Nasrat Haqparast (18-6) v Chris Padilla (17-6-1)

Lovely matchup here at 155 pounds as Nasrat Haqparast and Chris Padilla meet in the octagon. Haqparast and Padilla are both good fighters who have a natural peak of just outside the rankings in my opinion, but will both have an entertaining fight. I see Padilla being a bit too much for Haqparast over three rounds.

Prediction: Padilla by DEC

Shamil Gaziev (14-3) v Kennedy Nzechukwu (14-6-1)

Now we get some heavyweights as Shamil Gaziev takes on Kennedy Nzechukwu with both looking to get back into the win column. Gaziev has about 90 seconds of energy, so he’ll look to start quickly and catch Nzechukwu, who will also most likely like to trade on the feet with him. Both guys are known for knockouts, so I expect both to start fast, and I see Gaziev being the one to hurt Nzechukwu.

Prediction: Gaziev by KO R1

Jamall Emmers (22-8) v Lerryan Douglas (14-5)

Closing the prelims at 145 pounds as Jamall Emmers and Lerryan Douglas look to steal the show. Emmers comes into this fight on a two-fight win streak and usually has entertaining fights, so that’ll be good to watch. Douglas has some serious power, which we’ve seen in his last two fights with two first-round knockouts, and will be looking to get another one here. I think Douglas gets another fast finish to close the prelims.

MAIN CARD:

Anthony Wint (7-0) v Terrance Chatman (5-1)

A quick turnaround for Anthony Wint, who won his UFC contract last week as he takes on Terrance Chatman to open up the main card. Wint seems to be an athletic heavyweight, which is a cheat code, and he’s a quick finisher. Chatman has a good amount of knockouts, so it's going to be a quick fight, hopefully. I see Wint getting another fast finish.

Prediction: Wint by KO R1

Carli Judice (6-2) v Jeisla Chaves (7-0)

Another one of my favourite female prospects next as Carli Judice takes on the undefeated Jeisla Chaves. Judice is a great striker and found her form after a poor start to the UFC and comes into this one on a three-fight win streak. Chaves won her UFC debut and will scrap with you and compete, which is nice. I think Judice will be too clean and powerful for Chaves and win this one.

Prediction: Judice by DEC

MarQuel Mederos (11-1-1) v Mason Jones (18-2)

A beautiful fight now as MarQuel Mederos gets a massive test as he takes on Mason Jones at 155 pounds. Mederos is a good fighter, but my worry is he doesn’t push for finishes, which can hurt him when fighting against top talents. Jones is a serious fighter who I think will be ranked soon, but he’ll have to be careful here as Mederos is talented. I see Jones winning a decision.

Reinier De Ridder (21-4) v Roman Dolidze (15-5)

Now some top middleweights as Reinier De Ridder and Roman Dolidze look to get back into the rankings. De Ridder and Dolidze are both similar to me as they’ll both want to get the fight to the ground. De Ridder’s got the reach advantage, which I think will be useful when standing in this one, so I believe he takes this one.

Prediction: De Ridder by DEC

Serghei Spivac (18-6) v Vitor Petrino (14-2)

Our co-main event is at heavyweight with Serghei Spivac and Vitor Petrino both looking to climb the rankings. Spivac is a grappler who uses his size well to work for a finish. Petrino is just very athletic, which works at heavyweight, but he’s not fought anyone at this weight that I think is any good, so I don’t really back him in this one. I think Spivac is able to control Petrino on the ground and grind a decision.

Prediction: Spivac by DEC

Anthony Hernandez (15-3) v Gregory Rodrigues (19-6)

Now it’s time for our main event as Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues meet in the octagon as both look to impress and climb the rankings at 185 pounds. Hernandez is a very fun fighter to watch who was on a really good spell before his last fight, but his weakness has been his midsection, which I worry about in this matchup. Rodrigues is powerful but can also fight really well and smart, and comes into this one on a three-fight win streak. I think both guys are talented and it’ll be a fun competitive fight, but I think Rodrigues will target the body and hurt Hernandez and get a finish midway through the fight.

Prediction: Rodrigues by KO R3

PRELIMS:
Jeremiah Wells (13-4-1) v Myktybek Orolbai (16-2-1)

We start strong at welterweight as Jeremiah Wells and Myktybek Orolbai look to start the card strong. I always forget Wells is old, but he’s still a fun fighter who can catch you early. Orolbai is just an absolute dog and one of those guys I’d hate to have to fight because he’s so strong. I see Orolbai getting a finish in round two.

Prediction: Orolbai by SUB R2

Neil Magny (31-14) v Ramiz Brahimaj (13-6)

Staying at 170 pounds as Neil Magny and Ramiz Brahimaj look to get back into the win column. Magny is still giving people problems and really only loses to the top 15 in the division. Brahimaj is alright and likes a finish, so there’s a chance he catches Magny here. I see Magny getting a decision win here by clinching Brahimaj to victory.

Rafael Tobias (14-2) v Lucas Fernando (13-3)

Now up to 205 pounds as Rafael Tobias welcomes Lucas Fernando to the UFC. Tobias lost his UFC debut, and he’ll be looking for his first win here and has a decent amount of finishes in his career, so he might catch Fernando here. Fernando is the LFA light heavyweight champ and is making his UFC debut here, and he has eight first-round finishes in his 13 wins. I think Fernando catches Tobias here.

Prediction: Fernando by KO R2

Vicente Luque (24-12-1) v Tresean Gore (6-4)

Now down to middleweight as Vicente Luque looks to start a win streak as he takes on Tresean Gore. Luque is someone I think probably should retire soon, as there’s nothing he needs to do in his career and he had that brain bleed a couple years ago, so hopefully he stops soon. Gore is very athletic and picking up skills every fight and comes in off a good win last time out. I think Gore comes out fast and catches Luque in the first.

Prediction: Gore by KO R1

Donte Johnson (8-0) v Eric McConico (11-4-1)

Staying at 185 pounds as Donte Johnson and Eric McConico meet in the cage. Johnson is undefeated but hasn’t made me think he’ll be a serious prospect, but this is a very winnable fight, so I think he’ll do well here. McConico is alright but not someone Johnson should be losing to if he wants to be taken seriously. I see Johnson winning a decision.

Charles Johnson (19-9) v Eduardo Henrique (15-2)

Late addition to the card here as Charles Johnson faces Eduardo Henrique on short notice at a catchweight of 130 pounds. Johnson is one of my favourites to watch as when he’s on it he’s a challenge for anyone in the division and is a great test for any fighter. Henrique makes his UFC debut here after winning his contract on the Contender Series last year and a win here could sky rocket him into a shot at the rankings in his next fight. I think Johnson will be too much for Henrique on short notice here.

Prediction: Johnson by DEC

Chidi Njokuani (25-12) v Joel Alvarez (23-4)

Brilliant fight to close out the prelims as Chidi Njokuani takes on a short-notice replacement in Joel Alvarez at 170 pounds. Njokuani is a strong striker who likes to use kicks and elbows and will cause you issues if you choose to stand with him. Alvarez is one of my favourites and will be wanting to rebound after losing to Yaroslav Amosov last time out. I see Alvarez getting a fast submission win here.

Prediction: Alvarez by SUB R1

MAIN CARD:

Edson Barboza (24-14) v Esteban Ribovics (15-3)

Potential passing of the torch moment as Edson Barboza looks to find a win as he takes on Esteban Ribovics at lightweight. Barboza is probably near the end of his career and is maybe looking to finish on a win, but he’s got a tough young fighter here. Ribovics is a great fighter and someone that, when he’s on a card, gets me excited to watch as he’s a finisher. I think Ribovics gets a quick finish here.

Prediction: Ribovics by KO R1

Mansur Abdul-Malik (9-1-1) v Dustin Stoltzfus (16-8)

We go to 185 pounds as Mansur Abdul-Malik looks to rekindle his hype as he takes on Dustin Stoltzfus. Abdul-Malik is very athletic and has never been to a decision, but I don’t think he has a high ceiling in the division. Stoltzfus usually gets beaten, so I can’t see him doing much here unless Abdul-Malik just completely gives up. Abdul-Malik should get a fast win.

Prediction: Abdul-Malik by KO R1

Jalin Turner (15-9) v Kauê Fernandes (11-2)

Now we get some lightweights as Jalin Turner looks to stop the win streak of Kauê Fernandes. Turner is a good striker and just huge for the division at 6’3”. Fernandes is on a three-fight win streak with two finishes in the mix and could cause Turner some issues. I’m going with Turner here as I still think he’s a good fighter who’s just had a rough patch and will be getting back to his usual form here.

Prediction: Turner by KO R2

Mackenzie Dern (C) (16-5) v Gillian Robertson (17-8)

Our first title fight on the card in the co-main event as Mackenzie Dern defends her strawweight title for the first time as she takes on Gillian Robertson. Dern and Robertson are very similar in that they are great on the ground and terrible on the feet, so if we are lucky they’ll both try to get the fight to the ground. My worry is this is a poor striking matchup over five rounds, but I think no matter what, Dern wins a decision.

Prediction: Dern by DEC

Islam Makhachev (C) (28-1) v Ian Machado Garry (17-1)

What a main event to talk about, and our second title fight is Islam Makhachev defending his welterweight title for the first time against Ian Machado Garry in Philly. Makhachev is just the best fighter in the world, and it’s almost impossible to think of a way for him to lose and actually believe it. He’s come to a new weight class and won the title at the first time of asking and now looks to shock someone I think will be a champ eventually in Garry. This is quite the task for Garry to beat the P4P best in the world, but Garry is a brilliant fighter who, weirdly, is someone I think has the potential to, but again it’s such an ask. I think this will be a great fight and Makhachev retains after a competitive five-round fight.

PRELIMS:

Gigi Canuto (7-1) v Carol Foro (9-1)

A very late addition to the card, but we see Gigi Canuto make her UFC debut after her episode of TUF came out this week as she takes on Carol Foro, making her UFC debut as well, at 115 pounds. Canuto was on TUF S34 and spoilers lost her semi-final fight that aired this week and makes a short-notice debut here, but she is someone I think has good skills, but conditioning was her issue on the show. Foro is an impressive striker who earned her contract on the Contender Series against someone I consider very good in Shanelle Dyer and will be looking to get a debut win here. I think Canuto might start strong, but if Foro can hold off all the pressure from Canuto will be able to get a late finish.

Prediction: Foro by KO R3

Juliana Miller (4-4) v Ravena Oliveira (7-4-1)

Now some women’s flyweight as Juliana Miller and Ravena Oliveira look to get a win as they meet in the Apex. Both ladies aren’t great, and I could see a case for both not being in the promotion, but of the two I think Miller has a bit more grit and a decent ground game, and she’ll get the win.

Miles Johns (15-5) v Jessie Rosas (8-1)

Some fun 135ers now as Miles Johns welcomes Jessie Rosas to the UFC. Johns is usually in entertaining fights and will be looking to get back in the win column after a spell of losses against great names in the division. Rosas makes his UFC debut and, at 23, has a good range of finishes and will be looking to shock a good name in Miles Johns. Rosas is young and maybe one day will be a good fighter, but Johns is someone I think you need to be a settled fighter to beat, and I think he gets a decision win here as the vet.

Manoel Sousa (14-1) v Richie Miranda (13-1)

An exciting fighter to look out for next as Manoel Sousa looks to continue his impressive knockout streak as he welcomes Richie Miranda to the promotion at lightweight. Sousa is a fun fighter who brings real power and is someone that you are happy to see when he is on a card. Miranda makes his UFC debut after an impressive run in LFA, where he was LFA Lightweight champion, and will look to make the step up and showcase his skills. This should be a solid scrap, and I think Miranda will bring it, but I think Sousa’s power changes the fight, and he gets the win.

José Montanha (6-1) v Louie Sutherland (11-5)

Some big boys now as José Montanha makes his UFC debut against Louie Sutherland at heavyweight. I know nothing of Montanha other than he likes a submission, which could play a part here. Sutherland is a good scrapper and showed that he can do some half-decent stuff for a guy his size in his last fight and will be looking to be the experienced fighter in this one. I think Sutherland is the more known commodity and he’ll win a decision.

Diyar Nurgozhay (11-2) v Bruno Lopes (14-3)

We drop down a weight class to see Diyar Nurgozhay look to start a win streak as he takes on Bruno Lopes, who looks to end a losing streak at 205 pounds. Nurgozhay has some power to him and picked up his first UFC win last time out and will be looking to continue that form in this one. Lopes has some finishes to his name but comes into this one after two straight knockout losses and will be hoping to find his way back to the win column. I think Nurgozhay catches Lopes with something and gets the finish.

Steven Asplund (7-2) v Guilherme Pat (6-1)

Closing the prelims back up at heavyweight as Steven Asplund and Guilherme Pat hope to respond to losses last time out with a big win here. Asplund is a bit of fun with some good power and size for the division and will look to regain some of the hype he had before losing last time out. Pat is another big boy at 6’6 and is looking for a knockout with four knockouts in his six wins. I think of the two, Asplund isn’t actually too bad, and he should pick up the win here.

MAIN CARD:

Ty Miller (7-0) v Billy Ray Goff (9-4)

On the main card at 170 pounds is Ty Miller and Billy Ray Goff, with both looking to steal the show in the Apex. Miller is a decent prospect, and I was impressed with his debut, and I can see him having a solid run in the promotion. Goff is fun with some nice hands, and he’ll be wanting to get back in the win column after two successive losses. I think Miller gets the win after a competitive fight and gets a late finish.

Prediction: Miller by KO R3

Amanda Lemos (15-6-1) v Alexia Thainara (14-1)

Some ranked strawweight action as Amanda Lemos takes on some new blood in Alexia Thainara. Lemos is on the way out of the sport at 39, and this feels a bit of a passing of the torch to a younger fighter who’s on the way up. Thainara has done well so far and will be looking for the biggest win of her career here against a former title challenger. I think Thainara gets the win here by just being a bit better than Lemos currently.

Prediction: Thainara by DEC

Darren Elkins (29-12) v Yadier Del Valle (10-1)

Darren Elkins is still kicking about, and he’s got Yadier Del Valle to meet in Vegas at 145 pounds. Elkins is still gritty and a real challenge for a younger fighter still learning that side of the game. Del Valle is pretty fun, especially if the fight goes to the ground, and will be wanting to rebound after a loss last time out. I think Del Valle gets a submission win here.

Prediction: Del Valle by SUB R2

Billy Quarantillo (18-7) v Diego Ferreira (19-7)

Co-main time as two fun vets meet at lightweight as Billy Quarantillo goes up a weight class to meet Diego Ferreira. Quarantillo is always a fun fighter to watch and can still produce an entertaining fight. Ferreira is 41 but still has some serious power, which is always funny for a guy whose main art is BJJ, and he’ll be looking to catch Quarantillo here. I think Ferreira gets one last knockout and probably retires after.

Prediction: Ferreira by KO R2

Mateusz Gamrot (26-4) v Quillan Salkilld (12-1)

It’s time for our main event as Mateusz Gamrot looks to stop the hype train of Quillan Salkilld at 155 pounds. Gamrot is a very good grappler and is one of those fighters who's just on the outside of seriously competing for the belt but will still be a challenge for anyone. Salkilld is a lot of fun and is on a great run and will be looking for the biggest win of his career in a big spot in the main event. I think Salkilld will catch Gamrot fairly early in the fight and get the win.

Marina Spasić (7-1) v Stephanie Luciano (7-2-1)

We start at strawweight as Marina Spasić makes her debut against Stephanie Luciano. Spasić seems to be a striker with six KOs in her seven wins and is relentless with her pressure, so that’ll be her way to win this one. Luciano comes into this one off a submission win, so she’ll be confident heading into this one and will probably need to use that grappling and wrestling to slow Spasić down. I think the UFC experience of Luciano will help her in this fight and she’ll win a decision.

Prediction: Luciano by DEC

Jovan Leka (13-2) v Alexander Poppeck (21-5)

All the way up to heavyweight now as both Jovan Leka and Alexander Poppeck make their UFC debut. Leka is a big boy and has a good mix of knockouts and submissions, so he’ll be interesting to see here. Poppeck has a ton of experience and knockouts, but he is a natural 205er, so the size difference might be an issue for him here. I think Leka has a successful debut with a first-round knockout.

Nina Milošević (8-1) v Hailey Cowan (7-5)

Another debut on the card as Nina Milošević takes on Hailey Cowan at 135 pounds. Milošević has a decent amount of first-round submissions and was an experienced amateur before moving to the pro game. Cowan is a southpaw and will go for it but has struggled in the UFC and is looking for her first win. I think Milošević wins, but it’ll be a learning curve as this is probably the hardest test she’s faced in her pro career.

Mateusz Rębecki (20-5) v Kyle Prepolec (18-10)

Some lightweights looking for a win next as Mateusz Rębecki and Kyle Prepolec square off in Belgrade. Rębecki is a good fighter who I didn’t even realise has lost four of his last five because he’s been fighting great opposition and is someone who will be a tough fight for many. Prepolec isn’t too bad and has kept it competitive but hasn’t had a good run in the UFC, so he’ll be hoping to get something here. I feel Rębecki is the better fighter and will get the finish.

Bogdan Grad (15-4) v Dennis Buzukja (12-6)

Next, some featherweights as Bogdan Grad meets Dennis Buzukja. Grad is a powerful striker who will catch you if you're not careful and even in his losses has shown he’s not too bad. Buzukja is another who isn’t terrible but has struggled in the UFC, fighting some decent names. I think Grad will be able to catch Buzukja here.

Prediction: Grad by KO R2

Mark Vologdin (12-4-2) v Borislav Nikolić (16-2)

Did someone ask for another debut on the card? Well, you are in luck as Mark Vologdin welcomes Borislav Nikolić to the UFC at 135 pounds. Vologdin can fight but is just really small, and I’d even say he would be small for a flyweight, but he’ll go for it against anyone. Nikolić is a talented fighter who has done really well in Brave CF and will be hoping for a successful debut here. I think Nikolić wins his debut, but it will be over three rounds and not a finish, which he usually gets, as Vologdin is tough to finish.

Prediction: Nikolić by DEC

Michael Oliveira (9-0) v Oban Elliott (12-4)

Just in case you wanted another debut, you get one here as Michael Oliveira takes on Oban Elliott in his UFC debut. Oliveira is someone I consider to be a serious prospect, and I think he’ll showcase his ability in this one, but Elliott is a proper test. Elliott has done better in the UFC than I originally thought he would, but he will be looking to upset Oliveira in his debut here with his grinding style. I think Oliveira gets a finish.

L’udovít Klein (24-5-1) v Tofiq Musayev (23-6)

Very fun fight to close the prelims as L’udovít Klein takes on Tofiq Musayev at lightweight. Klein is such a great fighter to watch and can do a bit of everything and is usually in great fights. Musayev is a fun striker who picked up a good win last time out, so he’ll be looking for another one here. I think this will be a good three-round fight and Klein will edge it.

MAIN CARD:

Miloš Janičić (19-3) v Noah Gugnon (9-2)

Opening up the main card, we see two new talents as Miloš Janičić meets Noah Gugnon at 155 pounds. Janičić has finished all of his wins and comes in off a win against UFC alum Alex Oliveira last time out. Gugnon is a young French prospect who has also finished all of his wins, so this will be a fun, exciting matchup, hopefully. I think Janičić gets the finish in this one.

Prediction: Janičić by KO R2

Vlasto Čepo (14-3) v Gilbert Urbina (7-4)

A debut on the main card for Vlasto Čepo, who takes on Gilbert Urbina at 185 pounds. Čepo has 13 first-round finishes in his 14 wins and will bring some excitement and power to the card. Urbina has been pretty disappointing in the UFC, but his fights usually end in a finish, which will make this one fun. I see Čepo getting a first-round knockout.

Duško Todorović (13-6) v Robert Valentin (11-6)

Finally some non-debuting fighters as Duško Todorović and Robert Valentin look to build on wins in their previous fights at middleweight. Todorović looks to get the fight to the ground and either get a submission or GnP, and there’s potential for that here. Valentin goes for it in his fights and has the power that could hurt Todorović in this one. I think Valentin hurts Todorović and then locks up a submission.

Marcin Tybura (27-11) v Aleksandar Rakić (14-6)

A heavyweight debut ahead for Aleksandar Rakić as he takes on Marcin Tybura in Belgrade. Tybura is still good enough for a heavyweight to cause people issues who aren’t good enough to compete in the rankings. Rakić hasn’t been good for a while at 205 and is going to try to change that at heavyweight, but I don’t like his chances as I think Tybura just gets him down and holds him down until he gets a TKO.

Prediction: Tybura by KO R2

Jan Błachowicz (29-11-2) v Navajo Stirling (10-0)

Our co-main event sees some ranked 205ers as Jan Błachowicz looks to derail the hype of Navajo Stirling. Błachowicz is past it in terms of competing at the top of the division but can still be a problem for a young talent who may not be ready for the step up. Stirling is a classic City Kickboxer who does well at range and has got a couple of knockouts recently, which has been good to see, but this feels like a fight that will go all three rounds. I think Stirling will win here by staying on the outside with kicks and jabs, but Błachowicz will test him.

Uros Medic (13-3) v Daniel Rodriguez (20-5)

Possibly the weakest main event we’ve seen in a while as Uros Medic gets a layup in his native Serbia as he takes on Daniel Rodriguez at welterweight. Medic is a very fun striker who’s on a good run, and a big win in front of his fans should set him up for a big name next. Rodriguez is on a three-fight win streak, but he’s been beating washed fighters, and I don’t like his chances against a guy like Medic. I see Medic getting an early knockout and sending the fans home happy.

Abdul Hussein (15-2) v Cody Gibson (21-12)

We open with a debut at 135 pounds as Abdul Hussein looks to impress against Cody Gibson. Hussein is a finisher with only two of his fights going to a decision, so he’ll bring some action, which will be exciting. Gibson is a good vet and will beat Hussein if he’s not UFC-ready and has a sizeable height advantage. I think Hussein will be ready for his opportunity and will get a finish.

Nurullo Aliev (11-0) v Mike Davis (12-3)

Solid lightweight scrap next as Nurullo Aliev and Mike Davis square off. Aliev is a tough fighter to face as he grinds you down and has done well so far in his time in the UFC and is still quite young at 25 years old. Davis is a very nice fighter to watch whose biggest issue has been activity, but he’s back for this one and will give Aliev some proper tests. I like this matchup and think it’ll be great action, and I see Aliev being able to win enough of the fight over three rounds.

Brendson Ribeiro (17-10) v Magomed Tuchalov (6-0)

Another debut on the card as Brendson Ribeiro looks to ruin Magomed Tuchalov’s first outing in the UFC at light heavyweight. Ribeiro is a classic bad 205er who loses to pretty much everyone, but there are still people worse than him that he beats to stay in the company. Tuchalov is making his debut and has all finishes, so it feels like unless he’s a complete bum he should get a win and finish here.

Ismael Bonfim (20-6) v Axel Sola (11-1-1)

Another fun lightweight matchup as Ismael Bonfim and Axel Sola look to get back into the win column. Bonfim is an alright fighter but also has a ceiling in the division, which has been found in the fights he’s lost, and I’d be shocked to see him get close to the rankings. Sola is someone I think is good and could have a run at the rankings, and his loss last time out against Mason Jones isn’t a bad one. I think Sola gets a finish here.

Santiago Ponzinibbio (30-9) v Sam Patterson (14-3-1)

170-pounders now as Santiago Ponzinibbio keeps going at 39 years old against Sam Patterson. Ponzinibbio still has power and can catch most even if the rest of his game is regressing. Patterson is someone that’s fun to watch as he usually finishes or gets finished, and before the MVP fight was on a good run. I think Patterson should get the finish early, but I do have a worry he’ll keep his hands low and get caught.

Dustin Jacoby (22-9-1) v Muhammad Said (9-0)

Another set of light heavyweights as Dustin Jacoby welcomes Muhammad Said to the UFC. Jacoby is on a three-fight knockout win streak, so he’s coming into this one in great form and still competes at 38 years old. Said is undefeated at 9-0 and has eight finishes, but looking at his record doesn’t fill me with much confidence in his ability. I think Jacoby gets the win here as I don’t think Said seems actually any good.

Prediction: Jacoby by KO R2

Valter Walker (15-1) v Thomas Petersen (11-4)

We close the prelims at heavyweight as Valter Walker looks to add another heel to his record as he takes on Thomas Petersen. Walker is very good on the ground and has four heel hook finishes in a row, and a win here should set him up for a good name next. Petersen isn’t the worst heavyweight in the world but also not someone I see actually causing Walker much issue, but I could be wrong. I see Walker getting another first-round submission.

MAIN CARD:

Abubakar Vagaev (24-4) v Saygid Izagakhmaev (22-3)

We open the main card at 170 pounds as Abubakar Vagaev makes his UFC debut against Saygid Izagakhmaev. Vagaev is a seriously good fighter who’s making his debut in the UFC and is someone who could rise quickly up the rankings with a good start here. Izagakhmaev is alright but lost his debut to Nicolas Dalby, who isn’t a bad fighter to lose to but one you’d expect him to win if he was going to be where he wants to be in the division. I think Vagaev seems legit and should win his debut here.

Rizvan Kuniev (14-3-1) v Tyrell Fortune (18-3)

More big boys at heavyweight now as Rizvan Kuniev takes on Tyrell Fortune. Kuniev is someone I think will be challenging near the top of the division soon, as he’s quite good for a heavyweight and has shown a lot of skills so far in his UFC run. Fortune won his debut in the UFC over Marcin Tybura and has some decent power with some solid wrestling. This should be a half-decent heavyweight fight, and I think Kuniev gets the win.

Prediction: Kuniev by DEC

Damian Rzepecki (10-0) v Magomed Zaynukov (8-0)

A couple more debuts on the card as Damian Rzepecki meets Magomed Zaynukov at 155 pounds. Rzepecki is a young Polish prospect who’s won most of his fights via finish, so he’ll be wanting to impress in his first outing. Zaynukov is a great striker and has crazy pressure, which will be exciting to see in this one. I think Zaynukov’s pressure might be a bit too much for a young fighter, and Zaynukov will get the win.

Prediction: Zaynukov by DEC

Islam Dulatov (12-1) v Wellington Turman (18-8)

Finally get to see the return of Islam Dulatov as he takes on Wellington Turman at welterweight. Dulatov is cool and seems like a serious talent, with his height and reach being a big advantage to him. Turman isn’t great and is on a three-fight losing streak, so I don’t think he’ll do much here. I see Dulatov getting a fast finish.

Steve Erceg (14-4) v Ramazan Temirov (19-2)

Very nice co-main event here as Steve Erceg and Ramazan Temirov look to impress in flyweight action. Erceg is a good fighter who has found some form again recently after a tough period against the best of the division. Temirov brings great pressure and has been strong in the UFC and is getting a big shot here against Erceg. I think this’ll be a close fight and is a very hard one to call, but I see Erceg taking it.

Magomed Ankalaev (21-2-1) v Bogdan Guskov (18-3-1)

Now it’s time for our main event as Magomed Ankalaev looks to get back into the win column after losing his Light Heavyweight title as he takes on Bogdan Guskov. Ankalaev is a good fighter who I think will regain the title one day, but first he’ll need to get the win here. Bogdan Guskov has won four of his last five and comes in off a draw against Jan Błachowicz and will be wanting to shock Ankalaev here and get the win against the former champ. I think Guskov will go for it but I think Ankalaev should be too good for him and get a finish.

Prediction: Ankalaev by KO R2

Damien Anderson (5-0) v Ezra Elliott (7-0)

A late addition to the card sees the debuts for Damien Anderson and Ezra Elliott, who’ll meet at 145 pounds. Both guys are undefeated with all finishes in their fights, so this should be fun action. Of the two, Elliott looks a bit more interesting to me as he has seven first-round finishes, so I’m favouring him with no real knowledge of either.

Prediction: Elliott by SUB R1

Dione Barbosa (9-4) v Anna Melisano (6-1)

Early on the card, we have Dione Barbosa welcoming TUF alum Anna Melisano, who steps up on short notice to make her UFC debut at 125 pounds. Barbosa is an alright women’s flyweight who’s a bit of a gatekeeper for the rankings as she beats the fighters not ready but loses to the better fighters in the division. Melisano is still technically on this season of TUF, but she lost her fight and makes a short-notice debut here. She’s a decent striker but struggled in her first fight on TUF, so I feel she could struggle again against a UFC-ready talent. I’d say Barbosa is the safe choice here.

Alvin Hines (7-1) v RJ Harris (5-0)

Now some heavyweights as Alvin Hines looks for his first UFC win as he welcomes RJ Harris to the UFC. Hines looked pretty fun in his previous fight in the UFC, and I think he’ll bring it this fight, so there’s decent potential he gets his first win. Harris is undefeated at 5-0 and is massive at 6’6” with an 80-inch reach, which he could use to his advantage here against the shorter Hines. Even though there’s a height and reach difference, I think Hines gets the win.

Prediction: Hines by KO R2

Alden Coria (12-3) v Stewart Nicoll (8-3)

Now we go to flyweights as Alden Coria looks to continue his streak as he takes on Stewart Nicoll. Coria is pretty fun with good striking and a grinding style that's hard to deal with. Nicoll hasn’t won in the UFC yet, and I don’t love his chances in this one, but he has seven finishes in his eight wins so I guess it’s always a possibility. This feels like a lay-up for Coria.

Prediction: Coria by KO R2

Felipe Franco (10-2) v Levi Rodrigues Jr. (5-0)

Next, some 205ers on the card with Felipe Franco meeting Levi Rodrigues Jr. in the cage. Franco has fought in the UFC but lost to Mario Pinto, so he’ll be looking to get his first win in the promotion. Rodrigues Jr. has good power and will be making his promotional debut here and will want to start with a bang. I’m favouring Rodrigues Jr. here to get a finish.

Seok Hyeon Ko (13-2) v Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani (10-2)

Fun welterweight action now with Seok Hyeon Ko and Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani square off with both looking to continue impressive streaks. Ko has been good in the UFC and is always a decent watch, and this should be a good fight to watch between both guys. Lebosnoyani showed some nice stuff in his debut win over Phil Rowe and is a black belt in BJJ, so he can finish the fight wherever it ends up. I like both guys, but I think Ko is the more ready now fighter and wins a decision.

Jose Delgado (11-2) v Austin Bashi (14-1)

145ers close the prelims as Jose Delgado and Austin Bashi look to steal the show. Delgado is a great striker and someone who I see fighting some good names soon, especially if he can get an impressive win here. Bashi is a grinding grappler who won’t stop going for it with his wrestling and jiu jitsu, which could annoy Delgado in this matchup. I think Bashi will be an annoying one for Delgado, but I see Delgado being a bit too good and getting a late finish.

MAIN CARD:

Tommy McMillen (10-0) v Alberto Morales (11-1)

We start the main card with two interesting prospects, with Tommy McMillen and Alberto Morales squaring off at featherweight. McMillen seems interesting at 10-0 with nine first-round finishes and a huge height and reach advantage. Morales has some nice grappling, which he’s shown in his appearances in the UFC and Contender Series, and will always have a chance at catching McMillen in something. I think McMillen will be wild looking for big strikes and might even drop Morales, but I feel Morales, even if hurt, will grab something if the fight gets to the ground.

Tabitha Ricci (12-4) v Fatima Kline (9-1)

My favourite female prospect, Fatima Kline, looks to enter the top ten of the rankings as she takes on Tabitha Ricci at 115 pounds. Ricci is an alright strawweight who will beat the fighters not good enough to be at the top of the division and lose to the ones who could be something. Kline is a very exciting prospect and someone I see as a potential future champ, and a win here moves her one step closer to that goal. I think Kline is good enough to win here and move up the rankings.

Chase Hooper (16-5-1) v Mitch Ramirez (8-3)

Chase Hooper is back looking to find a win as he takes on Mitch Ramirez at lightweight. Hooper is a great grappler whose striking will always be his weakness, but this is a fight where I think he will be fine and get the fight to the ground. Ramirez hasn’t won yet in the UFC, but he’s fought good names, so this is an interesting fight to see if he can get the win. I’m favouring Hooper, but if Ramirez has any power to him, he could hurt Hooper.

Jared Cannonier (18-9) v Christian Leroy Duncan (14-2)

Now time for our co-main event as Jared Cannonier and Christian Leroy Duncan compete in some ranked middleweight action. Cannonier is still a tough fight at 42 years old, which is very impressive and will give Duncan some real problems and test to see if he’s ready for the next step at middleweight. Duncan is a very skilled fighter who annoyed me early in his run because I felt he was being a bit too relaxed sometimes, but he’s dialled it back recently and found a good mix of his style that's working. I think Duncan wins a decision here, but Cannonier is never someone you should count out.

Dricus Du Plessis (23-3) v Kamaru Usman (21-4)

Now it’s time for our main event, and it’s the biggest fight in African MMA happening in Oklahoma City between Dricus Du Plessis and Kamaru Usman at 185 pounds. Du Plessis is looking to rebound after his title loss last time out and will want to put his name back in the title picture with a good win here. Usman is getting a big opportunity to put himself in the title picture, which, if you said that two fights ago, would’ve sounded crazy, but he comes in off a win over Joaquin Buckley and could shock Du Plessis potentially. This feels like a simple one for Du Plessis to get a win and set up a title fight, as Usman I still think is gone at a high level.

PRELIMS:

Cody Durden (18-10-1) v Alessandro Costa (16-5)

We start at flyweight as Cody Durden and Alessandro Costa both look to build on wins. Durden comes in off a win against Jafel Filho and brings the energy to all his fights. Costa is on a two-fight knockout streak, so he’ll be coming into this one feeling good. This should be a decent flyweight fight, and I see Costa getting a knockout.

Prediction: Costa by KO R1

Ryan Gandra (9-1) v Zach Reese (10-3)

Now up to 185 pounds as Ryan Gandra takes on Zach Reese. Gandra comes in off a first-round knockout win on his debut and has some serious power that will be interesting to see how far he can go. Reese is huge and likes a first-round finish, so he’ll come out strong. I think both guys have a chance of catching each other, but I think Gandra has the better chance of catching Reese early.

Farid Basharat (15-0) v John Garza (6-1)

Short-notice change of opponent for Farid Basharat as he welcomes John Garza to the UFC. Basharat is a lovely fighter to watch, and it’s good to see he’s still on the card so he can showcase his skills. Garza is young with good striking, so he could test Basharat early and catch him. I see Basharat winning, but Garza will give a good account of himself.

Damian Pinas (9-1) v César Almeida (7-2)

More middleweights next with Damian Pinas meets César Almeida in the octagon. Pinas is looking to continue his impressive form in his second appearance in the UFC and has serious power that will be great to watch him grow. Almeida is a solid kickboxer and can win this fight by being the smart, technical striker against the young, explosive fighter. I see Pinas starting fast and getting a quick knockout.

Prediction: Pinas by KO R1

Tracy Cortez (12-3) v Cong Wang (9-1)

Ranked female flyweights now as Tracy Cortez takes on Cong Wang. Cortez is solid but probably isn’t ever going to really win a title, but she can still be the best of the rest in the division. Wang is a good striker and definitely someone the UFC will want to do well as she’s quite promotable, but I do think she’ll struggle in this one. I think Cortez wins this with grappling over three rounds.

Kai Kamaka III (18-7-1) v Luke Riley (13-0)

Beautiful matchup next at 145 pounds as Kai Kamaka III looks to derail the hype train of Luke Riley. Kamaka is a very solid fighter who does well wherever the fight goes and will be a tough test for Riley in this one. Riley is a very exciting prospect with great striking, and a win here against a good name in Kamaka should set him up for a ranked opponent next. I see Riley being a bit better over three rounds, but Kamaka will test him.

Cody Garbrandt (15-7) v Adrian Yanez (17-6-1)

Two explosive strikers now as Cody Garbrandt and Adrian Yanez look to steal the show at bantamweight. Garbrandt comes into this one off a win and might be able to turn it on in front of a big crowd. Yanez hasn’t been brilliant recently, but he’s been fighting killers in the division, and I still think he’s a good fighter who won’t let it affect him. I think Yanez has the better chance of catching Garbrandt and finishing him.

Gable Steveson (3-0) v Elisha Ellison (5-2)

A debut for Gable Steveson in the UFC now as he takes on Elisha Ellison at heavyweight. Steveson is a very experienced wrestler and has had a strong start to his MMA career with three knockouts and has that athletic cheat code which works well at heavyweight. Ellison seems like a basic heavyweight who has some power, which, if Steveson can’t handle a punch, he can catch him, but I don’t like his chances in this one.

Robert Whittaker (26-9) v Nikita Krylov (31-11)

Time for a new weight class for Robert Whittaker as he steps up to 205 to take on Nikita Krylov. Whittaker is making a solid call, imo, stepping up a weight class as he realises his time at the top of middleweight has probably passed him by, but up at 205 I think he has a solid chance of doing alright. Krylov is a classic 205er veteran that will be a good test for Whittaker to see if it’s even worth trying, as if he can’t beat Krylov then Whittaker should potentially retire.

MAIN CARD:

King Green (35-17-1) v Terrance McKinney (18-8)

Great opener for the main card as King Green and Terrance McKinney meet at lightweight. Green is in some good form with three wins in a row coming into this one and is still competing at 39 years old. McKinney is the greatest one-round fighter of all time and comes into this one after a 24-second knockout over Kyle Nelson. I think McKinney gets the finish in the first round.

Prediction: McKinney by KO R1

Brandon Royval (17-9) v Lone’er Kavanagh (10-1)

Lovely flyweight scrap next with Brandon Royval and Lone’er Kavanagh, with both looking to push for a title shot. Royval is great and competes with everyone in the division but has struggled to stake his claim in the big fights, but he’ll still bring it. Kavanagh is a very exciting prospect who looked amazing last time out against a former champ, Brandon Moreno, and is looking to get another great win on his resume. I think this fight will be closer than the Moreno fight for Kavanagh, but I still see him taking it over three rounds.

Cory Sandhagen (18-6) v Mario Bautista (17-3)

Another brilliant fight on the main card as Cory Sandhagen takes on Mario Bautista for some high-ranking 135-pound action. Sandhagen is a great fighter to watch who I think has what it takes to be a champion, but he’s had some brilliant fighters in his way, and I can see him getting another title shot in the near future. Bautista has been in great form outside of a loss to Umar Nurmagomedov and has found the style that’ll help him compete at the top of the division with a more calculated approach. I think both guys are great, and it's a close one to call, but I see Sandhagen being a bit better and winning.

Benoit Saint-Denis (17-3) v Paddy Pimblett (23-4)

Co-main event time at 155 pounds as Benoit Saint-Denis meets Paddy Pimblett for some ranked lightweight action. Saint-Denis is in great form with a four-fight win streak heading into this one and has a grinding style which is hard to deal with for most fighters. Pimblett has done a lot better in the UFC than I ever thought he would, and while he lacks some technical skills primarily on the feet, he actually has some good fight IQ and game planning, which is a very important skill to have. I think this will be a fun one as both guys will bring it and I see Saint-Denis winning it, but Pimblett will make it tough for him.

Conor McGregor (22-6) v Max Holloway (27-9)

Now it’s time for our main event as Conor McGregor makes his return after nearly five years away to rematch Max Holloway, who looks to gain revenge on their fight earlier in their career but this time at 170 pounds. McGregor is a tough one to talk about as he’s not won a fight in six years and hasn’t looked like he cares too much about the sport anymore for longer than that, but he is still that level of fighter that, if he really wants to and believes, I think there’s a chance. Holloway is just an all-time great who has proven how good he is in multiple weight classes, and even this step up to welterweight I don’t think will faze him, and he’ll be the usual Holloway we know and love. I think 99% of the time Holloway will win this one, as he’s been active and is still competing at the highest level, but there is that 1% of me thinking it would be very McGregor to return, get a knockout and go for it one last time but my safe and realistic choice is Holloway to grind McGregor down and get a finish from round three onwards.

PRELIMS:
Tahir Abdullayev (21-3) v Jefferson Nascimento (13-0)

Two debuts at welterweight as Tahir Abdullayev and Jefferson Nascimento look to start their UFC run with a win. Abdullayev has a strong record from a distance, but when you do a bit of research, he hasn’t fought anyone great, and the half-decent fighters he’s fought have beaten him. Nascimento is undefeated, which is always impressive after a certain while, and has good experience in LFA before coming into this fight. I think Nascimento feels like the safer choice to me, as I can trust he’s fought to a good enough level and against good quality.

Prediction: Nascimento by KO R2

Bekzat Almakhan (12-3) v Jean Matsumoto (17-2)

Solid bantamweight action next as Bekzat Almakhan meets Jean Matsumoto, with both looking to get back in the win column. Almakhan is a fun fighter to watch and has fought great names so far in his UFC run. Matsumoto is slick on the ground and has alright hands, but has lost to good fighters, similarly to Almakhan. Both guys are strong fighters, and it’s a close fight for me to call, but I’m slightly favouring Matsumoto in this one.

Daniil Donchenko (13-2) v Theodor Berggren (8-3)

Daniil Donchenko welcomes Theodor Berggren to the UFC at 170 pounds. Donchenko is fun with a good all-round game and loves to fight, which is great for the fans watching. Berggren isn’t someone I can say I know too much about, but he’s got a big opportunity to beat a good fighter on his short-notice debut. I think it’s safe to say Donchenko should win this one and get a finish.

Kaan Ofli (13-4-1) v Javier Reyes (23-5)

Some featherweights now, as Kaan Ofli looks to build on his two-fight win streak as he takes on Javier Reyes. Ofli is someone I enjoy as he has a nice game and is smart wherever the fight goes, and now with a couple wins in the UFC, he should be confident heading into this one. Reyes is excting to watch as he never stops going and has good power, which he’s shown in his Contender Series and previous fight, which could be a difference. I feel that Ofli will be able to get the win here by sticking to a game plan and not letting Reyes get much off.

Nursulton Ruziboev (36-9-2) v Andrey Pulyaev (10-4)

185ers now as Nursulton Ruziboev takes on Andrey Pulyaev. Ruziboev is always a solid watch and has turned out to be a good fighter with an interesting game. Pulyaev is pretty much just a kickboxer in MMA, which isn’t too bad if a fight is just a striking matchup, but he’s also fairly hittable, which could cost him against a guy like Ruziboev. I see Ruziboev winning this one, but I don’t see a finish.

Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev (9-0) v Julius Walker (7-2)

Prospect watch at light heavyweight as Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev takes on Julius Walker. Yakhyaev is fun to watch as he’s always going for the finish, and he doesn’t care where he gets it from, whether a knockout or submission. Walker isn’t too bad, but he’s struggled with his matchups against the experienced names in the division. I think Yakhyaev will come out strong and be a bit too much for Walker and get a finish.

Prediction: Yakhyaev by KO R1

Farman Hasanov (5-0) v Eric Nolan (8-4)

Last fight on the prelims with a debut as Farman Hasanov is welcomed to the UFC by Eric Nolan at 170 pounds. I can’t say I know anything about Hasanov, but from what I’ve seen, he’s done well in LFA and is constantly going, whether it’s for a takedown or a finish. Nolan isn’t actually too bad a fighter considering he’s 0-1 in the UFC. He showed some solid stuff in that Susurkaev fight last time out, and I do think he’ll have some success in this fight. I feel the UFC want Hasanov to get the win in his debut in his home country, but I think Nolan shocks Hasanov and gets the win.

MAIN CARD:

Abus Magomedov (28-7-1) v Michał Oleksiejczuk (22-9)

Opening up the main card, we have some middleweights with Abus Magomedov and Michał Oleksiejcuk. Magomedov was on a decent run recently, but lost his last fight to Joe Pyfer, so he’ll look to get back in the win column here and push for the rankings. Oleksiejczuk has been in great form recently since moving to the Fighting Nerds gym and comes into this one on a three-fight win streak. I think Oleksiejczuk has found a new level, and I think he’ll beat Magomedov here.

Prediction: Oleksiejczuk by KO R1

Brunno Ferreira (15-3) v Ikram Aliskerov (17-2)

Staying at 185 pounds as Brunno Ferreira looks to enter the rankings as he takes on Ikram Aliskerov in Baku. Ferreira is an entertaining fighter to watch as he has real power and solid grappling, so he’s fun wherever the fight goes. Aliskerov is good, and I feel he is in that in-between space of an elite fighter and a good fighter in the division. If you beat him, it probably means you can compete at the top, but he tends to beat anyone else. I like Ferreira, but I do think Aliskerov wins the fight.

Prediction: Aliskerov by KO R2

Asu Almabayev (23-3) v Charles Johnson (19-8)

Flyweight banger on the card now as Asu Almabayev and Charles Johnson meet in the octagon for some ranked action. Almabayev is a strong grappler with just relentless pressure and comes in on a two-fight win streak. Johnson is a great fighter and will bring it every fight, and has some great wins in his run in the UFC. This should be a high-paced, exciting fight, and I think Almabayev should just about win it over three rounds.

Nazim Sadykhov (11-2-1) v Matheus Camilo (10-3)

Another Azerbaijani fighter on the card as Nazim Sadykhov meets Matheus Camilo at 155 pounds on the main card. Sadykhov is a solid little fighter who’s got a bit about him and has some solid striking and will look to get back in the win column. Camilo is looking to build on his win last time out, where he showed some smart fight IQ, sticking to the wrestling against a striker like Borshchev. I think Sadykhov should be the better of the two and win this comfortably, but Camilo will go for it, which could be something to surprise Sadykhov.

Prediction: Sadykhov by KO R3

Michel Pereira (32-14) v Shara Magomedov (16-1)

Co-main time between two of the funniest fighters to watch as Michel Pereira takes on Shara Magomedov at middleweight. Pereira is pretty easy to read as he’s just an action striker and always looking for big strikes, which is fun, but if he fights anyone smart, he’ll get beaten. Magomedov is also a striker, but he’s more looking to use his kicking game and stay a bit more principled, but he will throw a big spinning kick every now and then. This fight should stay on the feet and If it does I see Magomedov winning a decision.

Rafael Fiziev (13-5) v Manuel Torres (17-3)

It’s time for our main event as Azerbaijan’s own Rafael Fiziev looks to get back in the win column as he welcomes Manuel Torres to Baku. Fiziev hasn’t had the best run recently, with one win in his last five, but he’s only lost to the best guys in the division. Torres is on a good run, and one when I looked at his record and remember his fights, I realise he’s actually a good fighter who very much could cause Fiziev issues. In terms of form, Torres should be the favourite, but I feel Fiziev in Azerbaijan will turn it on for the fans and put on a strong performance and get the win.

PRELIMS:

Shane Collins (7-0) v Otari Tanzilovi (10-1)

First fight of the night sees two new fighters to the UFC as Shane Collins meets Otari Tanzilovi at 145 pounds. I can’t say I know much about either guy, but they both seem to have a finish in them, which could make for something. Of the two, I think Collins has a decent overall game, and I think he wins this one.

Prediction: Collins by DEC

Karol Rosa (19-7) v Luana Santos (10-2)

Some ranked women’s bantamweight action now as Karol Rosa takes on Luana Santos. Rosa seems to be a bit of a gatekeeper who beats the people who aren’t ready for the top of the division, but loses to the better fighters of the division. Santos is alright, but doesn’t make me feel that she’s that great a fighter, so I don’t know her ceiling, but she probably is good enough for the top ten. I think Santos should take this one.

Leon Shahbazyan (12-4) v Levan Chokheli (14-3)

Now up to welterweight as a new Shahbazyan enters the UFC as Leon Shahbazyan takes on fellow newcomer Levan Chokheli. Shahbazyan seems to be a more balanced version of his brother Edmen, with 11 submission wins, with 10 coming in the first round. Chokheli is a striker with 11 knockouts in his 14 wins, with 10 coming in the first round, and has experience and wins in Bellator. I think of the two, Chokheli is the one I know to be a solid fighter, and I think he'll do alright in the UFC, so I think he’ll win.

Michael Aswell Jr. (11-4) v Gaston Bolanos (8-5)

Fun featherweight scrap as Michael Aswell Jr takes on Gaston Bolanos, with both looking to get back in the win column. Aswell Jr is a decent scraper who, even though he lost to Luke Riley last time out, he did show some stuff that made me think he could do alright in the UFC. Bolanos is a great striker and someone I enjoy watching, but I do think he has a ceiling in the UFC as an alright unranked fighter. For me, Aswell Jr is durable and a bit better all around, so I think he takes a decision.

Mitch Raposo (10-3) v Allan Nascimento (22-6)

Flyweight banger next with Mitch Raposo and Allan Nascimento looking to build on wins. Raposo comes in on a win over Azat Maksum and is a scrappy fighter who will make it a tough fight for anyone. Nascimento is a great grappler and is on a four-fight win streak heading into this one. Both guys are solid fighters, and I feel this’ll be a great fight, and I see Nascimento getting a sub somewhere in the middle of the fight.

Bia Mesquita (7-0) v Melissa Mullins (7-2)

Some women’s bantamweights next as Bia Mesquita defends her number 13 ranking against Melissa Mullins. Mesquita is a very experienced BJJ champion who has done well since switching to MMA and has won her two fights in the UFC via submission. Mullins is scrappy and has a grinding style, which can cause issues, but she has struggled to go on a run in the UFC. I feel this’ll be an improvement in competition for Mesquita, but I do see her getting an early submission.

Prediction: Mesquita by SUB R1

André Lima (11-0) v Kevin Borjas (10-5)

Closing the prelims is my boy André Lima is back in action as he takes on Kevin Borjas at flyweight. Lima is one of my favourites to watch and is a very strong fighter who I hope that if he gets a win here, he gets a shot at the rankings. Borjas isn’t a terrible fighter, but I think he’s at best an unranked fighter who is competitive with solid fighters and beats the not-ready ones. I think Borjas will make it competitive, but Lima should get the win.

MAIN CARD:

Vinicius Oliveira (23-4) v Andre Fili (25-13)

Exciting opener for the main card here as Vinicius Oliveira meets Andre Fili at 145 pounds. Oliveira is a fun fighter who has that killer instinct for a finish, even if he’s had a few fights go to a decision. He suffered a loss last time out, so he’ll be wanting to get back in the win column. Fili is still going and is still a solid test for most fighters in the division, and could easily cause issues for Oliveira here. I think this will be a fun competitive scrap, but I think Oliveira gets a finish.

Prediction: Oliveira by KO R2

Melsik Baghdasaryan (8-3) v Murtazali Magomedov (10-0)

Another featherweight scrap on the card here as Melsik Baghdasaryan welcomes Murtazali Magomedov to the UFC. Baghdasaryan is a solid striker who is very slick and has a good kicking game, but he does have a limit in a division like featherweight, in my opinion. Magomedov is a finisher with all of his ten wins coming via finish, and got a great finish on the Contender Series last time out, against someone I think is solid in Brahyam Zurcher. I think Magomedov has a successful debut and gets an early knockout.

Prediction: Magomedov by KO R1

Christian Rodriguez (12-4) v Hyder Amil (11-2)

Did you miss the featherweight division? Do not worry, we have one more match-up there as Christian Rodriguez looks to beat a fighter who isn’t undefeated as he takes on Hyder Amil. Rodriguez is a funny one because he clearly is a good fighter, but he loses to anyone who isn’t undefeated and struggles against the experienced fighters. Amil is very solid and just constant pressure, which is great to watch. He’s had a couple losses recently, but he’ll still be a tough test to beat. I think Rodriguez will get the win here, as he has to win a fight against an experienced fighter at some point, right?

Ion Cutelaba (20-11-1) v Navajo Stirling (9-0)

We have some 205ers in the co-main as Ion Cutelaba looks to stop the undefeated prospect Navajo Stirling. Cutelaba is decent and has done well as a bit of a gatekeeper just outside the rankings and has finishing power. Stirling is a fairly traditional City Kickboxing prospect with nice striking who I think can do fairly well in the division. This will be a proper test for Stirling but I do think ultimately he will win staying on the outside using his range.

Manel Kape (22-7) v Kyoji Horiguchi (36-5)

It’s a rematch in the main event for Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi but this time it’s in the UFC as both look to push for a title shot at flyweight. Kape is on a good finishing streak and has lighting fast hands which makes him a serious threat for every second of the fight. Horiguchi has returned to the UFC with a bang with two wins over good names and has been one of the best flyweights for over a decade now. The first meeting between the two ended with Horiguchi winning via a submission and I do see Horiguchi getting the win here but it’ll be much more competitive and I see it going all five rounds.

Diego Lopes (27-8) v Steve Garcia (19-5)

A fun fight to open up this card with Diego Lopes and Steve Garcia meeting at featherweight. Lopes is always entertaining and a good fighter, even with some obvious flaws. Garcia is someone I really enjoy watching fight, and I think he’s a great fighter who could beat Lopes here. I do think Lopes will be the favourite here, but I think Garcia gets the win here and gets a finish.

Prediction: Garcia by KO R2

Bo Nickal (8-1) v Kyle Daukaus (17-4)

Bo Nickal is back, and he’s looking to have a career-best performance as he takes on Kyle Daukaus at 185 pounds. Nickal hasn’t been too bad since switching to MMA, and if he has a great performance here, I could see him getting a shot at the rankings. Daukaus is someone I’m happy to see back in the UFC, and he’s shown he’s ready with his form recently. I think Daukaus will be a real challenge for Nickal, but I do think Nickal will edge it and win a decision.

Mauricio Ruffy (13-2) v Michael Chandler (23-10)

Our first of two lightweight matchups on this card as Mauricio Ruffy meets Michael Chandler in the octagon. Ruffy is such a fun fighter to watch, and he looked great last time out against Rafael Fiziev. Chandler isn’t in the best of form, but he can still be a challenge for his opponents. This feels like one where Ruffy gets a chance to get a win over a name like Chandler, which you sometimes need to get those big fights. I see Ruffy getting a finish.

Derrick Lewis (29-13) v Josh Hokit (9-0)

Now it’s heavyweight time as Derrick Lewis looks to slow down the rise of Josh Hokit. Lewis is kind of passed it in terms of being a top heavyweight, but he’s still got incredible power, and luckily for him, most of the time, an up-and-coming prospect at heavyweight is bad, so he beats them. Hokit is annoying, but is also annoyingly good. He has the cheat code at heavyweight, which is that he’s athletic, but he’s also got some good skills overall. Hokit should be able to get a quick win here.

Sean O’Malley (19-3) v Aiemann Zahabi (14-2)

Exciting matchup at 135 pounds now as Sean O’Malley takes on Aiemann Zahabi, who’s looking for the biggest win of his career. O’Malley is a former champ and will want to get back into the title picture as well as derail Zahabi’s seven-fight win streak. Zahabi has done really well, and it’s hard to understand why, as he’s a good fighter, but if you were to have said he’s fighting for a potential shot at the title like two years ago, you would be a madman. I think this will be a great competitive fight, but I still feel O’Malley should be a touch better and win a decision.

Prediction: O’Malley by DEC

Alex Pereira (13-3) v Ciryl Gane (13-2)

Our co-main sees Alex Pereira step up a division and make his heavyweight debut as he fights for the interim heavyweight title, as he takes on former interim title holder Ciryl Gane. We know how good Pereira is, and he’s shown it in two divisions so far in the UFC, and most recently re-won his light heavyweight belt with a first-round knockout over Magomed Ankalaev. Gane is a good heavyweight fighter who is always a couple of wins away from being champ, but it’ll be interesting to see him against a new threat in Alex Pereira, who will have to find that balance of not being too small at heavyweight while not giving up strength. I think Pereira’s power transcends weight classes, and he’ll catch Gane fairly early in this five-round fight and become the interim heavyweight champ.

Prediction: Pereira by KO R2

Ilia Topuria (17-0) v Justin Gaethje (27-5)

An absolutely lovely bit of matchmaking here as Ilia Topuria defends his lightweight title for the first time against the current interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in a title unification fight. Topuria is one of the best fighters going, and someone who has that almost unbeatable mentality that the superstars of the sport had. He’s a very skilled striker with brilliant power and solid grappling, and just seems unstoppable currently. Gaethje is still one of the best lightweights going and will bring it to Topuria, but I do fear for his chances here and worry about how much damage he is going to take, as we know he’s a tough, durable fighter. I think this will be a great fight, and you can guarantee Gaethje will bring it, but I see Topuria getting another vicious knockout somewhere in the middle of the fight.

Ketlen Souza (16-6) v Ariane Carnelossi (15-4)

Starting at strawweight as Ketlen Souza and Ariane Carnelossi meet in the octagon. Souza comes in off a win over Bruna Brasil and has been alright in the UFC. Most of Carnelossi’s fights in the UFC end via a finish, which is fun, and she’s got some decent power and holds a win over Souza earlier in both of their careers. I think Souza will be the better currently and win a decision.

Jeisla Chaves (6-0) v Yuneisy Duben (6-1)

Now up to women’s flyweight as Jeisla Chaves makes her UFC debut against Yuneisy Duben. Chaves likes to strike and, at the very least, could have a fun fight. Duben lost her UFC debut but is known for her knockout power with five kos in six wins. I think Chaves will be the better of the two, but it should be an interesting striking matchup.

Prediction: Chaves by DEC

Jordan Leavitt (13-3) v Joanderson Brito (18-5-1)

Now a fun bit of featherweight action as Jordan Leavitt and Joanderson Brito meet. Leavitt is on a two-fight win streak and is a great grappler who will cause you issues if you don’t respect him. Brito is all action and can finish you wherever the fight goes. I think this’ll be a good test for both, but I think Brito’s power will be a bit too much for Leavitt currently.

Prediction: Brito by KO R2

Chelsea Chandler (6-4) v Priscila Cachoeira (13-8)

Somehow, Priscila Cachoeira is still around, and this time, she fights someone potentially worse than her in Chelsea Chandler. I’m not going to spend much time on this one, but I’d say it's more likely Cachoeira wins, but I’m still picking Chandler as I want her to win.

Bruno Silva (15-8-2) v Edgar Cháirez (13-6)

Potential for a flyweight banger as Bruno Silva and Edgar Cháirez meet in the cage. Silva is an alright flyweight, but is probably at his peak at 15th in the rankings. Cháirez is on a two-fight win streak and is a tough fighter to wear down. I think this’ll be a close, competitive fight, but Silva should be a slight bit better.

Prediction: Silva by DEC

Marcus McGhee (10-2) v John Yannis (10-4)

Marcus McGhee returns and looks to get back to winning ways as he takes on John Yannis at 135 pounds. McGhee is a great fighter, and now his loss to Petr Yan last time out doesn’t look too bad with Yan now the current champion. Yannis got his first UFC win last time out and has some power to him, so McGhee should take him seriously. This should be a good chance for McGhee to get a great finish and build back up to a potential rematch with Petr Yan.

Prediction: McGhee by KO R1

Matt Schnell (17-10) v Alessandro Costa (15-5)

Some catchweight action with Matt Schnell and Alessandro Costa meeting at 130 pounds. Schnell is a solid fighter, but he is very chinny and has been finished in four of his last five fights. Costa is another solid fighter with some good power, and brings the action to a fight. This should be a fun one, but I feel Costa has such a power advantage that he’ll catch Schnell and get a finish.

MAIN CARD:

Iwo Baraniewski (8-0) v Junior Tafa (7-5)

Opening the main card at light heavyweight, as Iwo Baraniewski takes on Junior Tafa. Baraniewski is a finisher with all eight wins ending in the first round. Tafa is pretty bad, but when he tries a bit, he can finish you, as he does have good power. This feels like a one-round scrap with Baraniewski getting the finish.

Bryce Mitchell (18-3) v Santiago Luna (8-0)

A potential new star to be made here as Santiago Luna takes on Bryce Mitchell at bantamweight. Mitchell is a good fighter, but I don’t see him ever really challenging that high up in any division. Luna is an exciting prospect and is only 21 years old. He’s looked good in his few fights in the UFC, and it’ll be interesting to see how he develops. I worry it might be a bit too soon for Luna to get a test like Mitchell, but I don’t mind his odds in this one and think he can get the win here.

Fares Ziam (18-4) v Tom Nolan (10-1)

An unsung hero at lightweight fights next as Fares Ziam looks to extend his six-fight win streak as he takes on Tom Nolan. Ziam is a lovely fighter to watch, and just one of those guys you know is gonna give a good fight, and I would love to see him fight some higher-level fighters if he gets the win here. Nolan is cool and a fun fighter who matches Ziam for height and reach, so it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll look against each other. This should be a fun one, but I see Ziam being the better fighter over three rounds and getting a late finish.

Brendan Allen (26-7) v Edmen Shahbazyan (16-5)

Co-main event time, and we have Brendan Allen after the biggest win of his career, taking on unranked Edmen Shahazyan. Allen has been in good form coming into this one and is ranked fourth in the division, so I’m a bit surprised this is the fight for him. Shahbazyan has had some decent success recently, but struggles against grapplers and wrestlers, which Allen does well, so I don’t feel great about his chances here. I think Allen gets a submission in the second round and probably calls for a title fight.

Prediction: Allen by SUB R2

Belal Muhammad (24-5) v Gabriel Bonfim (19-1)

Our main event sees the former champ Belal Muhammad take on rising contender Gabriel Bonfim at 170 pounds. Muhammad is a brilliant fighter who reached the pinnacle of the sport but didn’t get to have too long with the belt and will want to work his way back to it. Bonfim is getting a big opportunity here against Muhammad, and he comes in to this one on a four-fight win streak, so he’ll be feeling confident. I do think Bonfim will give a good account of himself, but I feel it’s Muhammad’s fight to lose.

McGhee would showcase a great kicking game out of a southpaw stance with slick striking. His scrambles and takedown defence were on point, with Newson not having anything causing McGhee much issue.

McGhee would drop Newson with a left-straight before taking the back of Newson and submitting him with a rear-naked choke in the second round.

Very impressive debut performance by The Maniac. On short notice, he showed that he is a slick striker and a tricky customer in the grappling, as well as a tricky southpaw stance.

UFC Vegas 78 v JP Buys (9-5)

McGhee does a good job of countering when Buys overextends and catches him a few times in this first round.

I love McGhee’s comfort level in each stance, and you see a ton of stance switching in his fights, and this fight is no exception. He wobbles Buys with a step in jab-right hand.

The finish comes when McGhee times a step-in counter right hook when Buys commits to throwing his as he leaves his guard open, which McGhee cracks and gets the stoppage in the first round.

Another good performance from McGhee here. His striking is lovely to watch, and his movement with his stance switching makes him a tough customer to prepare for.

UFC Vegas 84 v Gaston Bolaños (7-3)

Bolaños the toughest striking test McGhee has had so far in the UFC. Close fight on the feet with both landing decent strikes.

McGhee brings grappling and clinching into the fight and starts to land better in the striking and does great work when Bolaños is pushed up against the cage.

Bolaños can’t handle McGhee’s pressure and McGhee starts to control the fight with striking and grappling.

The lead hook of McGhee is his main punch in this one and catches Bolaños a ton in this one.

McGhee drops Bolaños with a headkick into a lead hook and from there McGhee lands a spinning back kick and follows up with strikes before the referee steps in.

McGhee looked good here again. Had a lot more coming back at him in the striking, but once he figured out Bolaños, he was able to up his pressure and strike his way to a win.

UFC 309 v Jonathan Martinez (19-5)

McGhee is looking slick and sharp early in the striking and is annoying Martinez as he likes to lead the dance, usually, but McGhee’s constant pressure and combinations are annoying Martinez.

McGhee is fighting Martinez at his own game of leg kicks and is doing well, and has Martinez lost for what to do in the first round. I think a lot of Martinez’s issue in the first round is down to the fact that McGhee has power and pressure, which Martinez knows if he tries something, he can get caught, leading him to be quite timid early on.

McGhee is continuing his high pressure in round two, but Martinez is starting to wear it better, and when he trusts his leg kicks, he lands and does well, as Martinez, in my opinion, is one of the best kickers in the sport.

McGhee is such an entertaining striker to watch because of his commitment to throwing to every part of the body. He mixes head to body to leg strikes really well and makes sure to give every part equal attention.

Martinez is starting to get more comfortable with his success with the leg kicks and lands a nice step-in elbow, which McGhee eats. You can start to see that McGhee’s lead leg is in pain, but he’s doing just enough not to make it super obvious to Martinez.

You can tell in the third round that McGhee’s leg has been compromised and that he is trying to survive and get to the end of the fight, as he’s comfortably won the first two rounds.

To McGhee’s credit, he is still throwing nice strikes and kicks, which are landing well against Martinez. McGhee gets his leg kicked and has a big reaction, which signals to Martinez to step up the kicking, which he does, and McGhee is just trying to stay out of range enough with three minutes left in the round.

The fight enters the clinch, which is perfect for McGhee, even with his back against the cage. McGhee gets about a minute of rest for his legs in that clinch against the cage before it goes back to the middle, where Martinez lands another good leg kick.

McGhee is able to survive to the bell and takes the decision, but this was the first time in the UFC we’ve really seen McGhee look like he could be finished, but he showed smart fight IQ to survive and was still landing the occasional good strike in the final round.

UFC Abu Dhabi v Petr Yan (18-5)

McGhee is struggling to get his usual rhythm of constant pressure and combinations off against Yan, who usually starts the first round slowly, but was landing well whenever McGhee tried to step inside.

McGhee lands a few solid strikes in the middle of the round, and his leg kicks are working in the first round. McGhee has a good last 30 seconds and finishes the round keeping it competitive against Petr Yan.

McGhee tries to get a takedown up against the cage, but can’t find much success, but does land a nice elbow on the way out.

There is a small period where McGhee has a bit of success in the second round, where he’s landing well and catching Yan off guard.

Yan stumbles McGhee with a right hand and starts to take over the fight, but McGhee is still throwing and not just giving up.

The best thing you can say about this fight for McGhee is that he doesn’t look massively out of place in there with a guy like Yan. He’s holding his own and even when hurt, is still landing well.

Yan would win the fight via a unanimous decision, but you got to see that McGhee can hang with the top guys in the division and on a better night could’ve taken the win.

Next Fight: UFC Vegas 118 v John Yannis

Next up for McGhee is John Yannis this weekend at UFC Vegas 118. This should be a great opportunity for McGhee to get back in the win column and build back to a potential rematch with the now current champion Petr Yan.

Overall Thoughts:

Marcus McGhee is a great fighter to watch with slick striking and a solid grappling game and you’ve seen in his time in the UFC that he is ready for that top of the division and I’d be shocked if we don’t see him in the rankings sooner rather than later.

PRELIMS:

Loma Lookboonmee (10-4) v Jacqueline Amorim (10-2)

We start at strawweight as Loma Lookboonmee takes on Jacqueline Amorim as both ladies look to get back into the win column. Lookboonmee is someone I enjoy when she’s on it, as she has nice striking and has improved her grappling over the years. Amorim is very grapple-heavy with eight submissions in her 10 wins. This could be an alright fight, and I think Lookboonmee gets the win.

Prediction: Lookboonmee by DEC

Kangjie Zhu (21-4) v Rodrigo Vera (21-1-1)

Two debuts next at 145 pounds as Kangjie Zhu takes on Rodrigo Vera. Zhu won season 4 of the Road to the UFC featherweight tournament and has 12 first-round knockouts. Vera is an interesting fighter to talk about because he has a great record and has a win over Juan Diaz, who looked very impressive in his UFC debut recently. This could be a fun one, and I think if Vera fights as well as his record suggests, he could be a great addition to the UFC.

Angela Hill (18-16) v Jingnan Xiong (19-2)

The hardest test in women’s MMA next as Angela Hill looks to ruin the debut of former ONE women’s flyweight champion Jingnan Xiong, who makes her UFC debut at 115 pounds. Hill is an alright fighter who beats the fighters not good enough for the rankings. Xiong was a great fighter to watch in ONE Championship, but she’s not been as active as she has wanted to be, and now, at 38, she looks to have a run in the UFC. I do think Xiong wins here, as she should be better than Hill even now.

Rei Tsuruya (10-1) v Luis Gurule (11-3)

Late opponent change for Rei Tsuruya as he now takes on Luis Gurule, who looks to get his second win in the UFC at bantamweight. Tsuruya is a very good grappler, but the Joshua Van fight showed he needs more to his game as his takedowns were too obvious and his striking needed work. Gurule is alright and someone who can be a challenge for most fighters, and now, after his first win in the UFC, he’ll be looking to shock Tsuruya here. I still think Tsuruya has an exciting future, and hopefully, with his time off, he looks like an improved fighter here.

Aoriqileng (26-12) v Cody Haddon (8-1)

Exciting bantamweight matchup now as Aoriqileng meets Cody Haddon in the octagon. Aoriqileng is cool and comes into this fight after a 21-second knockout over Cody Gibson, so he’ll look to build on that here. Haddon is a very fun fighter and someone who looks like a serious prospect to keep an eye on. This should be entertaining, and I think Haddon should be the better fighter, but I’d be surprised if Aoriqileng doesn’t make it competitive.

Meng Ding (35-9) v José Henrique (8-1)

170-pounders now as Meng Ding and José Henrique make their UFC debuts in Macau. Meng has 28 knockouts in his 35 wins, so you know he’s looking to strike. Henrique also likes a knockout, so this should be a fun striking matchup. I think Meng Ding wins with a knockout.

Prediction: Meng by KO R2

Luis Felipe Dias (16-5) v Yi Sak Lee (8-1)

Our final fight on the prelims as Luis Felipe Dias and Yi Sak Lee make their UFC debuts at middleweight. Dias has a fun style with nice kicks and great grappling, so it’ll be interesting to see him in the UFC. Lee has only been to a decision once in his career, so he’s a finisher, which will make this an interesting one. I think Dias should be the better fighter, and he’ll get a submission win.

Prediction: Dias by SUB R2

MAIN CARD:

Alex Perez (26-10) v Sumudaerji (19-7)

Opening the main card at flyweight, as Alex Perez takes on Sumudaerji in Macau. Perez is coming off a great win over Charles Johnson last time out, so he should be feeling good in this fight. Sumudaerji is on a three-fight win streak is always a difficult fight for anyone in the division. I think of the two, Perez is better and should win this one, but it’ll be a fun close fight.

Prediction: Perez by DEC

Jake Matthews (22-8) v Carlston Harris (19-7)

Some welterweights next, as Jake Matthews and Carlston Harris meet in the octagon, with both looking to get back in the win column. Matthews has been around forever at this point and is only 31 years old. He found a good bit of form before his last fight, so he’ll be looking to replicate that here. Harris was pretty fun when he entered the UFC, but he’s struggled against the established names in the division. I think Matthews is good enough to cause Harris problems and get a finish in the second round.

Prediction: Matthews by KO R2

Kai Asakura (21-6) v Cameron Smotherman (12-6)

135-pounders now as Kai Asakura looks for his first win in the UFC as he takes on Cameron Smotherman, who looks to shock the former RIZIN champion. Asakura is a good fighter who’s not had an easy start to the UFC, with a title fight in his debut and a tricky vet in Tim Elliott last time out. Smotherman also hasn’t had the best of times in the UFC, with two losses in a row coming into this one, and fainted at the UFC 324 weigh-ins before that fight was cancelled. I think this will be a striking fight as that’s where both do well, and Asakura should be the better and get his first UFC win.

Prediction: Asakura by KO R2

Sergei Pavlovich (20-3) v Tallison Teixeira (9-1)

Some big heavyweights now, as Serghei Pavlovich and Tallison Teixeira meet in Macau. Pavlovich is a good heavyweight and has only lost to the best fighters in the division, but another win here could push him into those potential title fights. Teixeira has only beaten Tai Tuivasa and Justin Tafa in the UFC, which isn’t impressive currently, but he is massive, and it could play a part in the fight if Pavlovich isn’t ready for his height. This feels like a simple one where Pavlovich gets a first-round knockout.

Prediction: Pavlovich by KO R1

Mingyang Zhang (19-7) v Alonzo Menifield (17-6-1)

Co-main event time as we go down a division to Light Heavyweight as Mingyan Zhang looks to respond after a loss last time out against Alonzo Menifield. Zhang is a fun striker at 205 and has 13 first-round knockouts in 19 wins, so I expect him to start fast. Menifield isn’t too bad, but he is getting older and seems to struggle with the fighters who have been in the UFC for a while. I think we see a fast start from both guys, and I think Zhang gets the win.

Prediction: Zhang by KO R1

Yadong Song (22-9-1) v Deiveson Figueiredo (25-6-1)

Our main event in Macau is at 135 pounds as Song Yadong takes on former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, as both look to put their name in the shop window at bantamweight. Yadong is a very good fighter and still only 28, so he should be entering his prime years in the sport now. Figueiredo is a former champ, and someone we know can still be a real challenge at 38 years old in a new division in bantamweight. I feel this will be a close fight, but I think Song Yadong will take it over 5 rounds.
