What is Reset?

Since Reset came out, people have been asking what exactly it is, and we have been uncharacteristically cagey about revealing its contents. This has been frustrating - just as much for us as for the community - and we get that. TMK was built on the premise that you can’t trust a label without testing the product, and so a TMK product where we refuse to name the ingredient feels wrong. It feels wrong to us too. Here’s where we are coming from and why we are taking this approach.

Why We Can’t Elaborate

Right now, or goal is to 1) understand what Reset actually does and 2) study whether Reset genuinely helps people. Specifying its molecular structure puts that mission at risk. Reset takes some very precise chemistry to make, and if we say what it is then other labs can and will try to make it - or something close to it. Some would do it carefully. Some wouldn’t. And once there are five versions of Reset floating around, it becomes impossible to track its safety profile. If someone has a bad reaction, is it because of Reset, or is it because a sketchy lab cut corners while making counterfeit Reset? We wouldn’t know, and neither would you.

Safety and transparency have been our number one priority since day one, so we understand exactly how it looks to hold back the one thing you most want to know. Rest assured we are working on making Reset’s formula public knowledge as quickly as possible: we’re securing a patent for the technology to ensure this doesn’t lead to unsafe spinoffs popping up the moment we publish its structure. Once we can ensure that sharing details around Reset won’t flood the market with counterfeit versions, we will happily share everything we know.

What We’re Allowed to Share Today

What we can do is share real data and reports around how others have used Reset. We’d love to talk to you openly about what we’re seeing and what our own experience with Reset has been. We just don’t want to misstep and ruin this for everyone.

How it Started

We started working on Reset in early 2025 with the hope of helping people spend less money on 7-OH or opioids. By March 2026 we thought we had something. So we ran our first official study with seven trusted supporters who we knew wouldn’t hold back. All seven reported significant impact on the same 3 things: tolerance, withdrawal, and cravings.

While it was amazing to get that feedback, seven people proves nothing. Handing your product to seven fans and posting their reviews is exactly how the rest of this industry sells hype. What those seven did was convince us to spend real money on a much bigger study.

And while we’re here, let’s put one rumor to bed. Reset is not SR-17. It’s a different molecule, and we made it ourselves. If Reset were simply SR-17, we’d have started selling it in January, or last year. SR-17 is a well-known and well-studied compound; we didn’t want to sell SR-17, we wanted to develop something different. So we spent an entire year on Reset - researching it, testing it, studying it, and then releasing it painstakingly slowly and carefully.

Trial Overview

Let’s be clear about what this was, because the wording matters. We never told anyone to take Reset. We can’t, and we didn’t. Nobody was recruited, assigned, or asked to consume anything. We simply asked anyone who did to record their results. 189 people did exactly that; the following are their results.

A placebo tablet looks exactly the same but has nothing in it. Everyone who got a placebo was seeing Reset for the first time, so nobody could tell by the taste. Why placebo? Because sometimes people feel better just from taking something, and the placebo group shows us how much the impact is from Reset vs. from the psychological effect of taking something.

Participants tracked themselves for 14 days: 3 days to begin with no Reset (the “baseline”), then 7 days on Reset (the “study week”), then 4 more days after Reset was gone. All participants in this post filled out 10+ forms and finish the final survey. Together, participants filled out more than 2,800 forms.

Who Participated in Our Study?

The average study participant was 38 years old, and 76% of participants experienced chronic pain. Prior to taking Reset, participants were taking 200mg of 7-OH per day on average. Some were taking under 50mg and many others were taking 1000+mg, and the average dose intensity felt was a 5/10, suggesting 7-OH was primarily used moderately.

On the higher end, 17% were taking 400-800mg a day, and 9% were over 800mg. Many of these power users described having to take more and more 7-OH and getting less and less of an effect over time. These are the people we really wanted feedback from. 78% wanted to decrease their 7-OH intake, while 20% wanted to quit for good.

We also asked what they had experienced in the past when trying to cut back, and were unsurprised to see many of the same withdrawal symptoms. This is why most people don’t try to get off - it’s just too hard.

Moment of Truth: Trial Results

Now for the really interesting information: the trial results.

Q: Did you use less 7-OH during and after the study?

71% of participants on Reset said yes. On the placebo, 37% decreased their intake.

25% of participants on Reset said nothing changed for them, compared with 53% on the placebo tablet.

This is what we were hoping to see. The vast majority of people are taking 7-OH to manage pain, and that onset of pain leads to more frequent and heavy dosing. Taking less 7-OH suggests to us that participants are getting more mileage out of their usual doses.

Q: Did you get a stronger effect from your normal 7-OH intake?

60% of participants on real Reset said yes. On the placebo, only 32% indicated tolerance improvement.

This is the tolerance question, and it’s the same story as the one above: tolerance is what makes 7-OH expensive and exhausting because you need more 7-OH, more often, to get less. When people say their normal dose started doing more again, that’s tolerance improvement.

Q: Did your cravings improve?

About 70% of the Reset group said yes. On the placebo, only 32% reported cravings improvement.

We were delighted to see that our Reset group outperformed the placebo group by more than double; this degree of difference is not typical. We also asked about the time between doses - the “mental countdown” many 7-OH users have described.

Prior to trying Reset, 64% of participants reported “constantly thinking” about 7-OH between doses. While on Reset, that number dropped significantly to 17%.

Q: Did you experience any side effects?

About 28% of the Reset group said yes, as compared to 21% of the placebo group.

At first glance this might seem like a negative finding, but the fact that these numbers are so similar is actually very encouraging. We asked our participants to write down everything they experienced - every headache, every rough night, every upset stomach. Sometimes those symptoms are due to 7-OH, and sometimes a person just has a bad day. Our job is to figure out which of those symptoms are a result of Reset.

The fact that our Reset group and placebo group reported very similar side effects is great news. If Reset was hard on people, the Reset group would have reported vastly more side effects.

The most common side effects reported were sweating, sleepiness, and nausea. Both the Reset group and placebo group reported the same set of side effects; this is good, because if the Reset group had reported symptoms that the placebo group did not report, then that would suggest that Reset was causing those new side effects.

In addition, the vast majority of participants who took Reset reported that the benefits of Reset far outweighed the discomfort of the side effects.

Why a Placebo Group?

More than 30% of the placebo group said they got better. Read that again, because it explains exactly why having a placebo group was important.

Having the placebo group completely changes how we interpret the efficacy of Reset. For example, hearing that 29% of Reset participants experienced side effects seems alarming - until you realize that a similar percentage of placebo participants taking sugar pills also experienced side effects.

When we first started this trial we received a lot of angry emails from people calling us manipulative for sending people placebo tablets, even though we were up front about having a placebo group. We understand how frustrating it feels to have been a part of that group, which is why we made sure to send everyone in the placebo group real Reset once the study concluded. And for the record, we threw out our placebo tablets the moment the trial ended - everyone who has ever purchased Reset from us received the real thing.

Key Metric: How Much Did 7-OH Intake Decrease?

Participants reported their actual milligrams intake every day, which allowed us to measure changes during the trial. While on Reset, they took about 15% less. Note that this includes the initial “load period” when Reset can be less effective. In the four days after taking Reset, participants reported 32% less 7-OH - more than double the drop. In other words, Reset continued to increase in effectiveness for several days after it was taken.

After finishing the trial, more than half of Reset users were taking 25% less 7-OH, and 27% of Reset users had cut their 7-OH intake by at least half. And again, improvements in tolerance and cravings continued to improve even after the last dose of Reset was taken.

Who is Reset For?

We developed Reset with two people in mind.

First, we built Reset for all the people who want to be done with kratom or opioids entirely. We wanted to empower everyone who has ever felt like taking these substances was no longer a choice, and who wished to be free of it. Based on the reports from this study, we feel good about Reset’s ability to be an effective tool for that person.

Second, we designed Reset for anyone who wants to continue taking 7-OH, but who wants to have a more sustainable relationship with it. Financially, 7-OH can be ruinous at it’s worst. I’ve heard stories of people barely making ends meet and having to decide between paying their dog’s vet bills and waking up the next morning with agonizing back pain. No one should have to make that choice. And there are many people taking 1,000+mg of 7-OH every day who we believe can get the same relief and management from 100mg if they used Reset. In this way, we hope Reset can help ease the financial weight of managing pain - not just move the pain from your body to your bank account.

The Most Surprising Feedback

In a few words: you get out what put in.

The participants who reported the most benefits were the ones who came in with a real goal, whether that was improving their tolerance or getting off for good. They also did the boring things: they slept more, they ate better, they hydrated, and they used Reset as a tool to build a healthy lifestyle rather than a miracle compound or a silver bullet. It genuinely surprised us how much that mindset seemed to matter.

What’s next for Reset?

That feedback resonated strongly with our whole team, and we’re using it as our North Star to guide our next steps. For this next part, we’re looking for members of the community who are willing to help.

Study 1: Quitting Kratom / Opioids

The first study we’re looking to run is for people who want to quit completely. Not cut down - get off. We’re looking for people who are serious about quitting and who will fill out a survey every single day for three weeks, documenting the whole thing honestly. In exchange, we’ll do our very best to assist you every step of the way.

Study 2: Reset v2

The second study is for the next version of Reset, which we have continued developing and are hoping will be an even more effective version of our current product. We need participants to be motivated, organized and willing to fill out a daily form and work with our team to understand results.

Before you email us, please understand what you’d be signing up for. These studies are expensive and exhausting to run. We ship a lot of free product, we follow up with people every single day, and we pay lawyers to make sure we don’t get ourselves in trouble just by talking about it. In this past study, more than 500 people signed up, and over 300 of them stopped answering or never finished their forms. Each of those 300+ participants made a commitment and then failed to follow through on it, often without so much as a courtesy message. Those dropouts represent significant holes in our data that might have otherwise helped a lot more people. One Last Thing

About the New Tabs, and some Insight into the Industry

Some of you spotted markings on a few of our tablets that did not look like ours. You asked good questions, and you deserve straight answers. So here is exactly what is going on, how this corner of the industry actually works, where three other brands come into it, and where we messed up.

Start with a fact most people outside the space do not know: there are only three or four facilities in the entire country that make 7-OH, and there are more than fifty brands selling it. Do that math and it becomes obvious: brands you think of as worlds apart in quality are very often pressing at the same facility. A brand with consistent A-ratings may be pressing the exact same tab as a brand that gets C-ratings. Both brands paid for 40mg of 7-OH. The difference is that the C-brand is marketing those tabs as 55mg, whereas the A-brand is marketing them as 40mg.

Here’s another piece: tablet pressing is a finicky process, so it is standard practice to press 10% more than an order calls for. Usually, the brand that placed the order buys those extras. Sometimes they don’t. On top of that, manufacturers will press small runs themselves and offer them to brands to try, because almost every brand in this space runs on tight cash flow and cannot gamble a hundred thousand tablet order on a brand new flavor that might not sell.

That last part is literally how our small batch series was born. Our tablets are priced well under the market, and after everything we spend on lab testing, we didn’t have the cash to place a giant order for a new flavor. So we bought small test batches and released a few hundred bottles each. That’s where our mango, red berry and cherry blossom all came from.

So, Whose Tabs are These?

Usually the manufacturer doesn’t tell us where an excess batch comes from from. That’s normal, and quite frankly it doesn’t matter - all we care about it that the tabs have been pressed by the same manufacturer we know and trust. This time was different. Because so many of you were asking and we told the manufacturer our customers wanted answers, we got more information. Here is what we found:

The Tropic Thunder tablets with a Z on them are from a brand called ZOHM. We have never sold a tablet with a logo on it, and our manufacturer had told us these carried none, so this one caught us off guard. Our best guess is that ZOHM placed an order and then refused to pay for it after the ban was announced.

The 30mg lemon tablets in our party packs are from a brand called Jubi. We also suspect they ordered a batch and then left the manufacturer high and dry once the ban dropped. That is not confirmed, it’s what it looks like to us.

The 60mg tablets we are selling are from Ultra Seven Double Stacks. This one we can confirm: Ultra Seven placed the order, and after the ban they decided not to pay their bill and left our manufacturer stuck with tabs. Oh and by the way, Ultra Seven is advertising these as 80mg tabs. Remember when we said that the same tablet could get pressed by different brands and get different ratings? It’s not because of quality, it’s because of honesty.

Bottom Line: These Brands All Screwed Our Manufacturer, and We Stepped in to Help

When a brand stiffs the manufacturer on an order that size, the manufacturer eats the loss. If that happens enough times, even the best companies in the industry will collapse. When that happens, everyone loses. So yes, we tested these batches, approved them, bottled them, and now we’re selling them, because the alternative was watching good product get destroyed and a great manufacturer get buried under other people’s unpaid invoices.

We Should Have Communicated This Up Front

Now for the part that is on us: Our manufacturer knows we never want a logo on our tablets, and they told us these batches were clean. We did not catch that a few of them carried another brand’s markings before we packaged them. That is our mistake, plain and simple. The ban hit, our inbox flooded, and we were heads down trying to take care of everyone. We checked the lab results on every batch, which is the part that actually matters for your safety, but we did not check the tablets closely enough for stray markings. We own that, and I’m sorry if you feel I’ve mislead you in any way.

So Are These TMK Tabs? Yes, Absolutely.

What makes a tablet a TMK Tab? To us, it’s 4 things:

2. Was the tablet tested by our own third party labs?

3. Is the tablet being advertised honestly based on the lab results?

These tablets were pressed by the same manufacturer that pressed our Red White & Blue Razz, our Peach Party Packs, our Sour Watermelon Dollar Tabs, and every other TMK tab you have supported since we launched. They are amazing at what they do and we are lucky to be partnered with them.

Was the tablet tested by our own third party labs? Yes.

Every batch we purchase goes through our own round of lab testing, every time. We confirm the dosage and we label to what the lab actually shows. We check for residual solvents and heavy metals and we only buy tablets that stayed inside the manufacturer the entire time. Chain of custody is not negotiable for us.

Our manufacturer uses SD Pharm for lab testing and we use NN Analytics. We have lab results from both and both labs are posted for all products - see our website if you're curious. Admittedly we did make the mistake of posting SD Pharm labs first, which many of you were skeptical of. But rest assured we double-test everything and we do not release products we’re not comfortable with.

Is the tablet being advertised honestly based on the lab results? Yes.

This is a core value at TestMyKratom.org. We value honesty and we always strive to ensure the customer gets exactly what they pay for (or a little bit more). For example, the Wild Berry tabs were originally supposed to be 50mg, but labs came back at 44mg. So rather than selling them as an underdosed 50mg tablet (which I’m sure was the original intent), we decided to sell them as overdosed 40mg tablets.

Are we comfortable putting our name behind these tabs? Absolutely.

These tabs have passed every quality test that we have at TMK. They were pressed by the same manufacturer we know and trust, and we made sure to label them according to the results of both third party lab tests we ran on them, deferring to the less generous test result to ensure that no customer felt stiffed by an order. We could have labeled our Blue Steel bottles as 50mg since they tested at 51mg from NN, but we chose to label them as 40s since they tested at 44mg from SD Pharm.

All of these tabs are TMK Tabs, regardless of who ordered them.

The ratio came from you. When we looked at how the community actually pairs the two products, most people landed somewhere around half as much Reset as 7-OH per dose. We’re not going to dress that up as a clinical finding, because it isn’t one. It’s what real users converged on, and it matched what we saw in our own testing.

The Last Time the Crown Passed

In 2023, 7-OH took the kratom world by storm. People were amazed at how little they needed to take, how effective it was, and what a relief it was to not need to toss and wash spoonfuls of raw leaf. The standards for a great product were so low that OPMS’s sludgy tar of a drink shot was the number one product on the market. Pretty soon the market shifted to better products, and brands like OPMS, MIT45, and K-Shot were left in the dust. That’s how this industry works: if you don’t innovate, somebody else will, and the crown passes to the next.

At a smoke shop conference in 2024, I recall overhearing someone say “Wait - you’re surrounded by 7-OH and yet you’re still plugging your nose and swallowing powder?” as other smoke shop owners chimed in to say that “nobody buys leaf anymore”. For me, that was the moment the crown passed. I’m convinced that the day will soon come when it will be equally baffling to take 7-OH without Reset.

Note to other 7-OH brands: let’s work together

We’re proud of Reset, but we don’t want the community stuck choosing between the brand they’ve been loyal to and the product we think they deserve. So we’d rather you just have Reset. If you want to integrate Reset into your own products, let’s work together.

Here’s how it usually works: one brand gets an edge, everyone else scrambles to clone it badly, and consumers end up with knockoffs of a knockoff. Skip that. Come get the real thing, put it in your own products, keep your customers. There’s enough Reset for everyone and honestly, the more we all work together, the longer all of this stays legal.

More Information, for Those Who Like Extra Credit

The current HHS docket is focused on what the legal 7-OH threshold should be, not on the broader question of whether any threshold or permanent scheduling policy should exist at all. HHS specifically says it is seeking information supporting the proposed threshold, an alternative threshold, or alternative ways to measure it.

We Didn’t Think We’d Make It This Far

Honest admission: for most of TMK’s life, I assumed we wouldn’t see year two. Anonymous testing is expensive. Labs don’t work for free, and neither does buying every product we test at retail like a regular customer. The only reason the lights are still on is that this community kept them on. You bought tabs, shared our results, sent us tips on what to test next, and told your friends. From the bottom of my heart: thank you!

The Most Memorable Moments of the 7-OH Era

A lot can happen in two years, and in the 7-OH world two years is an eternity. Before we unveil our newest flavor, here are a few of the moments that defined these past couple years.

6. Shout Out to the Fallen Soldiers

The brands that succeed today, including us, learned from the ones that came before. Some of them were dishonest. More than a few threatened to sue TestMyKratom at one point or another. We still want to pay homage. So shout out to everyone who at some point enjoyed tablets from Perks, Hydroxie, Press’d, 7even, 7Labs, 7Tabs, EDP, Overseas Organix, 7ohBlack, 7 O’Heaven, 7OMEGAZ, Sub7Ohmz, 7rx, VII, Clandestine, and Hyku, to name a few. Gone but not forgotten.

5. The Fall of 7ohBlack and Overseas Organix

These were both sad, for very different reasons. These were two of the more honest brands in the space. When they got underdosed product, they pulled it instead of continuing to push it, and the founding teams of both were great to work with. The 7ohBlack story has been well documented on our podcast, so we won’t rehash it here. But as shocked as we all were to see 7ohBlack suddenly disappear, we were way more surprised to see Overseas Organix collapse in spectacular fashion amid allegations of firearms, explosives, and 7-OH in a private storage locker in Florida.

4. Champs 2024: The Wild West in a Vegas Convention Hall

Champs is a smoke shop trade show that happens in Las Vegas every year, and in 2024 it’s where 7-OH was born. 7OHMZ debuted their 14mg OG tablet. Hydroxie had a booth but no product, taking preorders while quietly trying to find someone who would sell them 7-OH. And then there was Perks. All of their branding mimicked Percocet, down to tablets with the same light blue color and shape as Percocet pills. The backlash was so bad they rebranded shortly after, becoming the brand we all know as Press’d.

I remember talking to the Perks guys at their booth. They told me they were drowning in demand and that I’d need to put in a $100,000 order, fully prepaid, just to get a spot in line. A few hours later I walked by the 7OHMZ booth and asked if they were worried about Press’d. Their answer: the CEO of Press’d was blowing up their phone at that very moment, begging to buy tablets because his connect fell through. Everyone was lying. Nobody was following through on anything. And as much as I believed this molecule could change the world, I also worried that in its current state, with those players, it would be banned within a year. That show is where I decided I wanted to try to do something to help.

3. 7OHMZ: Last Man Standing

When we launched TestMyKratom, the four brands we tested first were 7OHMZ, Press’d, Hydroxie, and EDP. Even then, 7OHMZ was consistently the only brand that actually put in their tabs what the label claimed. To their credit, they still do. We think that’s a big part of why, of the original big four, they’re the only one still alive.

EDP went under once it became clear 7-OH isn’t stable in drink shots. They never seriously entered the tablet game, so they died alongside the drink market. Press’d and Hydroxie lasted much longer but met similar ends. Price competition hurt, but the bigger problem was that neither controlled their own manufacturing. 7OHMZ was the only one of the four pressing their own tabs. Back then, the few manufacturers that existed controlled pricing and kept profits that today go to brands. For context, most brands today buy 7-OH for 2.5 to 3.5 cents/mg. In the early days you couldn’t get tabs pressed for under 5 cents/mg. Since most sales ran through smoke shops, whatever margin survived manufacturing got split again with distributors and shop owners.

2. 7Box: The Hail Mary That Kept the Lights On

Not many people know how close we came to shutting down. Testing doesn’t pay for itself, and at one point the money simply wasn’t there. So we launched 7Box as a Hail Mary; if 7Box couldn’t generate enough revenue to cover testing, TMK was done.

It worked. It wasn’t sustainable long term but it kept the lights on, and it gave us the confidence we needed to eventually manufacture our own tabs. Thank you to everyone who bought that first 7Box. And shout out to the brands that took a chance on us and generously donated all the products that made 7Box possible: 7ohBlack, Overseas Organix, Kratom Distro, Kratom Heads, Lucid, Real Botanicals, 7OHMZ, and BKC.

1. The Ice Cream Cone That Sent Lawyers After Us

For our 50th blog post, we celebrated a milestone we never expected: our first Cease and Desist. EatOhmz sent it, claiming false advertising and disparagement, after we published a lab result showing their 18mg tablets contained 0.1mg of 7-OH. Not a typo. The label promised 18mg and the lab found about half a percent of that. The good news is, those tabs will still be compliant if 7-OH gets scheduled!

The Cease & Desist backfired beautifully. Reddit noticed a brand was going after the testing site, and suddenly a lot more people were talking about us. The Streisand Effect, live and online. And we’d be lying if we said the funniest part wasn’t the product itself. This is the same brand that released a 7-OH ice cream cone. An ice cream cone. I still laugh when I think about it.

Why a Tab Named After New York

That’s the history. Now for the celebration, which starts somewhere you might not expect: Madison Square Garden.

If you watched the NBA Finals last month, you saw the Knicks win their first championship since 1973. Jalen Brunson put up 45 points in the closeout game, 15 of them in the final eight minutes, and took home Finals MVP. What stuck with us wasn’t the trophy. It was that when the game got tight, he gave a little extra.

The celebrations in New York went on for days. Watching a fanbase that waited 53 years finally get their moment, right as we hit our own milestone, felt like a sign. So the Big Apple is our tribute: to the Knicks, to New York City, and to giving a little extra when it counts.

A Little Extra

So, about that twist. Every Big Apple tab labeled 25mg actually contains 28mg of 7-hydroxymitragynine, verified by third party lab testing. The COA is published on the product page like always. If Jalen Brunson can give a little extra, so can we.

We’ve spent two years testing products where the label and the contents don’t match. Usually the mismatch goes the other direction. So yes, we get the irony of the label police releasing a tab that’s off-label on purpose. The difference is you’re reading about it in our announcement post, with lab results attached.

Practical note: 28mg is 12% more than 25mg. If you’re calibrated to 25mg tabs, account for that. Know your tolerance and dose like the label says 28, because it does, just not on the front.

Today We Celebrate. Tomorrow We Fight.
