Speaking of major updates, this June we’ll be traveling to the University of Turku in Finland to participate in the 26th International Futures Conference, organized by the Finland Futures Research Centre and the Finland Futures Academy — one of the most established and important gatherings dedicated to futures thinking and foresight in the world.

We will be hosting a Purpose Scanning Workshop session at the event, bringing our methodology into the conference program and opening space to explore horizon scanning through a decolonial lens, grounded in the idea of building more plural and just futures with an international community. If you haven’t heard about the Purpose Scanning Workshop by Future Resources yet, it is a proactive introduction to Horizon Scanning, the foresight practice of identifying weak signals and emerging trends, a.k.a. the foundation of foresight research.

Unlike conventional approaches, our methodology integrates a plural and decolonial perspective, rooted in the Global South and informed by real-world contexts. This means each participant will leave the experience not only with the knowledge required to conduct horizon scanning on their own—including clustering and sensemaking—but they will also learn to scan for worldviews and perspectives that differ from their own. The result is a truly expansive learning experience beyond one’s bubble, which has always been at the core of our mission here at Future Resources.

Another key difference from other traditional courses and workshops is our practical approach. This is not just a masterclass, a series of pre-recorded videos, or another boring lecture, but a live, online, hands-on opportunity to effectively learn how to do Horizon Scanning with a qualified foresight professional: Victória Oliveira, our Chief Operating Officer, whose bylines include Radar, Protein, Space Doctors, ALAF, and more.

Halloween is coming up, and as a literal Halloween baby (born on October 31st), I decided to draw inspiration from the spooky date and share some weak signals and future trends from my own Horizon Scanning research that genuinely scare me!

Deepfake Revenge Porn
As a woman, I grew up surrounded by well-meaning, traumatized older women who taught me countless ways to avoid the forms of aggression I was most likely to face simply because of my gender.

Now I understand that it never really mattered what a woman wears, says, does, or how she behaves. The simple fact that we exist in a patriarchal society leads many men to believe they have some kind of right over us. Even women who leave no possible “excuse” for harassment or violence—like those wearing hijabs that cover their entire bodies while walking in their neighborhoods in broad daylight—are not spared.

AI has only worsened this power imbalance. A new wave of deepfake revenge porn is flooding online, turning women around the world—many of them underage—into unwilling spectacles in videos they not only didn’t agree to make but never participated in. And the obvious culprit, most of the time, isn’t even charged for their actions, setting a dangerous precedent for the future of our society.

Deep-Sea Creatures Rising

As ocean temperatures rise and water becomes increasingly polluted, deep-sea marine life is more frequently surfacing from the darkness it once inhabited, often ending up stranded and dying on shore.

From Oarfish sightings and Barreleye encounters to 13-foot-long squids washed up on beaches, these appearances are more than ecological anomalies — they’re warnings, signaling just how far our planet’s systems are collapsing.

AI Hallucinations

AI isn’t supposed to create anything new, as it is trained on existing content, learning from patterns of what already exist. However, somehow, it sometimes creates completely fake or misleading information and present it as a fact. This eerie fabrication are now known as “halluccinations”, and unfortunately, happens more often that you’d expect.

At first glance, this glitches can seem harmless, but when AI systems start to confidently rewrite history and reality, the line between what’s real and what’s fiction begins to blur.

This is particularly worrying as these tools are now being used to create everything from news articles to academic research, meaning they have the potential to distort collective knowledge in a world already flooded with misinformation.

Halloween is a time for ghosts, goblins, and ghouls — but the real horrors might already be here, lurking online, in our oceans, and inside the algorithms shaping our future. Are we ready to face them?

Welcome to the first Purpose Scanning Review - a living archive from Purpose Scanning by Future Resources.

Future Resources is an open global platform to demystify, democratize, and disseminate foresight and futures with a focus on the Global South. Purpose Scanning by Future Resources is a workshop that teaches and applies the Purpose Scanning methodology, inspired by the traditional foresight methodology, horizon scanning.

Below we'll share our process of developing and testing the Purpose Scanning methodology and workshop. Hope you enjoy reading and join us in upcoming workshops!

As we set out to create the Purpose Scanning Workshop, our goal was to transform the baseline of most (if not all) foresight research, the horizon scanning methodology, into a practical learning experience.

We chose 'Plural and decolonized futures’ as a theme since it encapsulates the very essence of Future Resources. However, we have come to realize that the methodology we have created can easily be modified to encompass other themes.

For our pilot program, we selected 14 individuals from different backgrounds and regions from Brazil, the country where Future Resources first came to be in 2020.

It was in the early days of development, that we decided the immersive experience should start with a introductory lecture, where participants can learn the basis of foresight (the difference of foresight and forecast, concepts of trends, weak signals, future cone and the STEEPLE analysis) in order to level up the playfield as much as possible. Decreasing gaps in knowledge about futures literacy and the foresight industry helped create a fair base of knowledge about the subject from which to grow before starting the process of scanning for weak signals.

By our next meeting, all participants had already spotted more than 50 signals and done their asynchronous reading on all of the 40 weak signals we'd selected for the sensemaking workshop.

During the 3 hour sensemaking workshop, participants were immersed in our methodology, diving deep into their own experiences and unique background knowledge in lively discussions during the signal weaving and sensemaking process.

The workshop was followed by a week of research and hard work, where each participant, assigned in a duo or trio, researched and made sense of their weak signal, consolidating their findings in a shared report.

What I bring to you today is the result of that.

From the beginning, we were able to experience the joy of a diverse and plural group, all of whom had very rich remarks and examples to share.

Two topics became evidently more prominent during the horizon scanning portion: Ancestral Futures and Collective Well-being. During our sensemaking workshop, as we began to choose which trends and weak signals the groups would research in depth, the latter was chosen.

The signals were divided into Local Food Circuits, Conscious Tourism, Systemic Silver Rise, Care as a Foundation, Plural Neuroarchitecture, and Digital Counterflows.

Local Food Circuits

Despite the industry’s massification, the group observed a growing systemic resistance rooted in traditional food practices, celebrating ancestral methods such as local farming and farmers’ markets.

Quick Deep Dive: Food as a mediator of affective relationships, ancestral memories and collective care, not just as a commodity; Strengthening of community kitchens as resistance, which could signal a future where food security is built collectively, from the ground up, decolonizing the centralized model of food distribution; Conscious preference for buying and consuming locally produced food, which represents the revaluation of the microterritory as a space of autonomy and belonging; Consumers are once again prioritizing natural or minimally processed foods, instead of ultra-processed foods, increasing demand for quality foods, family farmers and small businesses; Organic food has gained prestigious status becoming a luxury not many can afford, which highlights the conflict between sustainable health and the logic of status consumption.

Conscious Immersive Tourism

Values ​​immersive connection experiences that encompass well-being, sustainability, awareness and appreciation of diversity.

Quick Deep Dive: Raise awareness and appreciates cultural diversity, especially when following afrodiasporic routes, transforming urban narratives and strengthening the local economy; Aims to bring people into contact with nature, inviting them to reconnect intimately, promoting the healing of urban afflictions; Values ​​local entrepreneurs and thus promotes the generation of work, employment and income, paving the way for local economic development.

Systemic Silver Rise

The 50+ community is challenging aging stereotypes, signaling a societal shift from youth-centric ideals to intergenerational, diverse, emotionally healthy, and community-driven experiences.

Quick Deep Dive: The anti-corporative ageism movement signals a shift in which work is no longer defined solely by physical vigor or the idea of ​​“productive age.”; The silver economy positions the 50+ demographic as a powerful economic force, reshaping markets as brands compete for their attention and spending, while this generation drives demand for immersive experiences, digital innovation, and culturally relevant products; Formation of 50+ communities is growing, signaling that the sociability of individuals of this age group is shifting from a family-based model to one that values ​​chosen communities, interactive networks, and in-person meetings mediated by technology; The appreciation of accumulated experience gains space in cultural content that highlights life stories, professional trajectories and emotional memories of people 50+, breaking with the logic of invisibility of older people in mass culture, repositioning experience as an aspirational resource; The presence of lasting affections among older LGBTQIAP+ people transforms the queer experience into a legitimate way of life, affirming continuity, stability, and belonging over time.

Care as a Foundation

Care, which has historically been delegated to women, and even more invisibilized for Black women, is emerging as a core principle, repositioning it as a central political and economic asset for societal well-being.

Quick Deep Dive: New digital affirmative health apps solutions and collectives that combine clinical care and activism, recognize the experiences of marginalized bodies challenging exclusionary urban planning and signaling the need for public policies that prioritize the well-being of all people while combating discrimination and vulnerabilities in healthcare, building a practice that is an act of justice, increasing case resolution and strengthening the healthcare ecosystem, highlighting care as a structural asset, with urban, symbolic and relational implications; Laws such as the Maria da Penha, punish aggressors and establishes protective measures and public policies that recognize protection and care as fundamental rights; Spaces such as Casa 1 welcomes LGBT+ youth who have been kicked out of their homes by their families, offering temporary housing, a cultural center, and a free mental health clinic as practices of community and political care.

Plural Neuroarchitecture

BringsPlural Neuroarchitecture brings the possibility of creating environments that value local knowledge, cultures, and local ways of life by designing cities, schools, hospitals, and homes that integrate regional materials, cultural references, and forms of community sociability, fostering belonging, health, and quality of life.

Quick Deep Dive: The appropriation of third places by collectives that evoke cultural identity fosters a feeling of belonging to the group and, consequently, transforms people’s relationship with space and cities; Initiatives to include children at the center of urban mobility, promote safer, more walkable and humane streets for all; Emerging practices such as Casas de Brincar highlight a societal response to urban risks by creating safe, screen-free environments that safeguard play, autonomy, and the extension of childhood; Neuroscience-driven architectural design can act as a response to climate change by creating environments that strengthen community resilience, protect cognitive health, and promote environmental justice.

Digital Counter-Flows

This resistance model that emerge to combat big tech's dominance points to a future reconfiguration of the digital ecosystem, where the logic of metric maximization and constant attention may be replaced by more sustainable, transparent, and socially aligned models.

Quick Deep Dive: The “demetrication” of networks suggests futures in which attention and the value of interactions do not depend on numbers; Cellphone banning laws in schools points to futures in which government and schools take an active role in limiting screen use, reinforcing human interaction and improving the quality of learning; The creation of alternative social networks promotes digital autonomy and serves as alternatives to the dominant logic of big techs; The recent popularization of offline hobbies points to futures in which well-being guides life choices and in which analog and digital practices coexist in a more balanced way.

One of the biggest debates during the sensemaking portion of the workshop was if the sober movement, growing in popularity in the Global North, made sense in the Brazilian and Global South context. This was particularly meaningful as the theme of the program was 'plural and decolonial futures'.

One of the participants raised the question due to her experience and daily observations in one of São Paulo’s lower-income neighborhoods, where alcohol and drugs remain an integral part of nightlife, to which most participants outside of large urban cities also agreed.

In juxtaposition, participants from higher-income spaces, noticed the movement's growth in the spaces they attend, although, part of the group mentioned there were some mirroring involved in the creation of sober third-spaces such alcohol-free bars and daytime parties.

As a result, the group decided against working on the sober vertical, as it is still a signal that only encompasses a small section of the upper class, thus, it is not the reality of the country, or of the Global South as a whole.

As the objective of the pilot program was to be able to find any loose knots on the process of the workshop, we were able to do so with every step of the way. However, a few non-structural questions are worth mentioning:

Q: At what stage of a foresight process is Horizon Scanning important?

A: At the very beginning, as horizon scanning is the base of the foresight process. Once you have defined other key elements (such as understanding the client’s challenge or question, deciding on the research design, methodological apprach and agreeing on deliverables), the first step usually is the launch of horizon scanning.

Q: How can we continuously monitor these weak signals to adjust our strategy over time?

First, I recommend establishing a daily scanning practice by reading a variety of different media channels and formats, so you can start monitoring the panorama, identifying patterns and spotting change.

Next, begin grouping these signals (for example, using a Trello board to cluster weak signals according to criteria like impact, relevance, and more). Make sure to set aside time each week to analyze your findings, looking for recurring themes and shifts that could indicate larger trends.

Remember that foresight is always a participatory practice and should include others. Incentivize your colleagues to do the same and schedule regular exchanges with them to make sense of what everyone is spotting.

This practice will generate valuable insights throughout the process, which can inform strategy development and policymaking. Bring these insights into team meetings for discussion and reflection, and when possible, action.

Over time, this continuous monitoring will create a dynamic view of the landscape, enabling you to anticipate changes and act proactively rather than reactively in your strategic decisions.

I know we have been quiet for a little while. Some of you might have seen that I started a new position. I am now working as a foresight policy analyst at the European Commission’s directorate-general of the Joint Research Centre, and more precisely, at a unit called EU Policy Lab: Foresight, Design and Behavioural Insights.

I heard the calling of moving away from the private sector back in 2020 during a practicum with UN-Habitat while pursuing my master’s at The New School. All my efforts since then have been pointing towards that direction – from working as a consultant at ALVA with António Alvarenga, to co-founding a participatory foresight festival, and to founding . To be now at the most prestigious, acclaimed and possibly the largest foresight for innovative policymaking team in the world is an honor that has been conquered after decades of hard work, which included mentors, jobs, passion projects, career spins, mentees, networking, privileges, family support, cheerleading (shoutout to Amy Daroukakis), risk taking, formal education, rejection, investment, and appreciation notes.

As many of you might know, last year I have founded ALAF - Latin Futures Association. In this new context, I have stepped down as president of due to conflict of interest with my position at the European Commission’s EU Policy Lab. I continue to support and admire the association, but my role now is of a passive member. I encourage you to become a member if you aren't already: if you are Latin American, there is a large community of futures curious, thinkers and doers who will happily welcome you! Moreover, the extremely talented Joice Preira and Isa Maria Rodrigues are now president and vice-president. ALAF couldn't be in better hands 🫶

Future Resources is five years old.

It is and will continue to be a space dedicated to putting futures from the Global South at the forefront. The lack of futures-related content about Global South initiatives in newspapers, blogs, scientific papers, magazines, etc in languages other than English, German and French remains an issue. Environmental and social justices remain a far distance from reality – especially for minorities and minoritized groups. Future Resources’ mission continues to be decolonizing and demystifying foresight and innovation, highlighting Global South solutions.

As a team, we have always been a mix of people from the South and the North. We have always featured content from both worlds. This has always been key because we believe systemic change requires allies and it is strategic to engage the Global North to expose what is happening in the South and get them to do better.

I will continue to steer Future Resources.

• The Finland Futures Academy has released a free & certificated course on future studies until 30-06-2025! “Getting to Know Futures Studies is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), that provides an easily accessible peek into futures studies. The course has been created with experts of the field and it gives the participants a solid starting point for further growing their know-how on futures studies.”

💜 WHAT IS FUTURE RESOURCES?

• We are a self-started, self-funded initiative based on the pluralism of opinions and perspectives.

• Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2020, we wanted to address the lack of a central database for foresight, research, and strategy resources.

• As a non-registered business, we do not raise funds, except for no-strings-attached donations. This is how we keep our creative integrity intact.

• The core of the content we share focuses on promoting and informing on progressivism, development, equality, sustainability, innovation and futures.

• Our team and members have no restrictions regarding what can and cannot be shared, as long as it helps democratize foresight and create a fairer world for all.

🎯 WHAT ARE OUR MAIN GOALS?

• Educate people about foresight and all its power;

• Decolonize the foresight industry by making it accessible to all;

• Highlight futures thinking as tools for empowerment, hope, agency, and justice;

• Create a safe space for womxn & non-binary people to learn, flourish, and succeed.

• Promoting non-European and North American perspectives, innovations, companies, thought leaders, initiatives, etc.

• Presenting an alternative to a White, male, cis, heteronormative, Global North, privileged-dominated industry.

• Highlighting content from the Global South as leaders of futures, not followers - since mainstream media tends to portray these countries as poor, violent, and incapable of producing relevant content that tackles today’s and tomorrow’s issues.

• Becoming a hub for professionals working with global futures, people transitioning to futures studies, and futures enthusiasts (regardless of their financial situation, geographical location, origin, body shape, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, etc.).

• Our ecosystem consists of free, futures-related content in various formats (visual, written, classes, chats, lives, databases, etc.) and languages.

• Everyone is invited to submit content of any kind to be featured on Future Resources. You can do it yourself on the platform directly, or by getting in touch with the FED WhatsApp Community admins.

To say that March was a busy month is an understatement, hence the unusual amount of emails to cover all of it. Last week I talked about my participation in some events, including School of International Futures meet-ups, Teach The Future and The Millennium Project's World Futures Day, Futures Friends dinner, and Lisbon Breakfast Club. This one is fully dedicated to the festival I helped envision and organize: Future Days Festival.

Future Days is a participatory foresight festival. This means that we carefully curated members of governments, private sector, academia, activist movements, and civilians to sit together and make horizontal decisions about what our lives should look like.

This was only made possible due to the support of Câmara Municipal de Lisboa. Lisbon Cityhall's openness to our ideas and willingness to make it happen was fundamental, as was the support of School of International Futures, With Company, Ageas Group Portugal, Istituto Europeo di Design, Sónar +D, PWC Japan, +351, Musa Cervejaria, Revista Sábado and many others.1

The full experience happened over months of preparation, videocalls, email exchanges, Slack messages, WhatsApp groups, Notion pages, etc. On my side in particular, as curator of the speakers lineup, this meant handpicking 7 (s e v e n!) people who would contribute with worldviews and understandings of what futures are and can be. Thankfully, I was not alone in this. Uri Casademont, Monika Bielskyte and the FD team were there to share the responsibility for this tough challenge. How could I pick 7 incredible brains out of the vast, diverse and magnificent world of futures?

Well, we did it. And my teammates delivered nothing but the best on the lineup for the labs (workshops), the choice of challengers and policymakers to guide the final activity, and inspirations (immersive experiences).

Still, it was largely due to the attendees that Future Days was such a success. The ~400 people who joined us from all over the world invested their full hearts and minds into bringing each talk, each lab, each lunch, etc, to life in such an enthusiastic way. Day 1 was about warming up to getting your brains on fire, with a signal scavenger hunt in the neighborhood of Marvila that ended up at Musa Brewery for light, fun connections over pizza and free beer (or non-alcoholic beverage)

Attendees arrived at With Company's office to register, get their badge & c00l (and sustainable - thank you +351!) tote bag, and be allocated into groups with facilitators who would walk them around the neighborhood of Marvila to look for futures artifacts. Future Days partnered with a series of local galleries, businesses and shops that opened their doors for us during this tour. This fun walk on the present looking both at past and futures through a hyperlocal lens ended up at Musa brewery, where everyone could enjoy food and drinks on a rooftop filled with like-minded people passionate about creating purpose-driven futures.

Day 2 took place in the most magical venue one could imagine: Estufa Fria de Lisboa. We tried to convey how wonderful this place was online through Future Days newsletters and social media but it was just impossible. You had to be there to really understand the privilege it was to walk through nature whilst being provoked and inspired by our program, fellow attendees and the FD team.

From 9am to 6pm, day 2 tackled two big themes. Each theme comprised two 30-minute talks, 3 labs (workshops) - of which attendees could only participate in one (I know) -, and a collective debate with those respective speakers and lab moderators, plus Paula Cardoso, the unmatched collective debate moderator.

The two themes were:
01. Post-urban lives in large-scale ecosystems
02. Equitable governance for tomorrow’s societies

Translating them into plain English: Theme 01 was about reimagining the cities and everything in them - mobility, energy, work, etc. Pau Garcia talked about different types and uses of maps including how some communities used maps to track time, and Eva Xavier talked about the serious issue of emigration in Portugal, how interlinked it is with education, gender and politics and why youth should be taken seriously in political decisions today. The labs that followed for the next hour and 30 minutes were: Leila, the 11-year old who made grown-ups and youth alike join her in creating children-first cities with cork, PWC Japan who asked participants to explore how we might create, collaborate and bond at the workplace of the future, and Grupo Ageas Portugal workshopped the future of micromobility through trends and future horizons.

Theme 02 was about dismantling our Western and capitalist notions of societies - education, health, democracy etc. Cecilia Tham talked about her work in stress-testing their What Ifs (hypotheses) with “is it scientifically possible?” to support engineering. Monika Bielskyte inspired us to envision a world guided by principles of pluralism, celebration, and regeneration. The three simultaneous labs were just as wonderful. CERN put attendees in extreme (imagined) situations to stimulate thinking about what’s important, what are our values, needs, and bring those conclusions into the present. PlanAPP took participants into a journey to the future based on their megatrends report for 2050 and what the impacts could look like in Portugal. Futures Garden immersed attendees on five speculative videos to stimulate debate on the desirability of the depicted future.

Day 3 was also in Estufa Fria, and was split into two parts. The first was diving into theme 03 with the same formula that we saw on Day 2. The rest of the day was about focusing on issues and challenges that the city of Lisbon faces (across culture, economy, mobility, immigration, housing, etc). We had amazing local challengers and renowned policymakers pushing us to create futures-proof solutions

Theme 03 was ‘Pluricultural creations and the AI era', and it investigated our relationships with innovation, creativity and technology. We had 3 thought-provoking talks: Phoenix Perry talked about bigger data not equaling better data, and that small data can shape a more equitable, inclusive generative AI. Gustavo Nogueira spoke on temporality beyond Western imaginaries and why we should reconsider our linear approach to time. Nyangala Zolho highlighted the significant impact policymakers have on innovation ecosystems and why we should embrace decoloniality. These talks were, again, followed by three simultaneous labs: Copenhagen Institute of Future Studies’ lab encouraged participants to challenge dominant tech-led narratives of the future and to focus on today’s critical challenges by embracing them as opportunities for innovation and progress. Transformative Times’ lab provided participants with the canvas to prototype parliaments for other species (how cool where these masks??). With Company's lab created a playground for adults to let go of all inhibitions and to explore technological meaning.

After these three global themes, we dove into a local lens and focused on Lisbon 🇵🇹 🎯

The unparalleled first Futures Generations Commissioner for Wales, Sophie Howe, stepped on stage to talk about what thinking about future generations’ wellbeing means, and how that shapes everything from a country's healthcare system to education, green spaces, food, etc.
The whole audience - including speakers, lab moderatos and FD team - was then divided into smaller groups to work on specific issues that Lisbon faces. Guided by wonderful facilitators and kick-ass templates, we were able to imagine desirable solutions for these challenges, always considering how to be the most inclusive and sustainable possible.

Now that the festival is over, the Future Days team is working on a summary report with strategic recommendations for the City of Lisbon. Stay tuned!

And just to make sure everyone was recharged and inspired throughout those days, we had amazing immersive experiences throughout Estufa Fria, including guided meditation and embodied awareness activities, as well as (free) coffee, food and beer! These past ten years I have spent building my knowledge, career, and approach to foresight have been filled with multi-talented women who have supported and inspired me in many ways. When I think about what makes me the professional and person I am today, it is absolutely because of the people who have been a part of my life, guiding me, showing me possibilities, lending me a hand, giving me valuable advice, believing in me and challenging me to do better and evolve.

My network is my gold💰 But my network of women is a multi-faceted diamond💎 filled with growing wisdom that serves as the foundation for me to flourish and, as a consequence, enhance the collective lives of I am a part of.

This is a love letter to the women who, like me, survive - and thrive - in a sexist world that constantly tries to silence, diminish and exploit us. We make each other stronger, despite all the daily attempts of being taken down. I gladly share my gold and my diamond with you, because by sharing, it only grows. Unlike the extractivist mindset of many men (and unfortunately some women too), we do not use and take away people's gold. We nurture, enrich and promote our gold.

As most of you know, Future Resources was born out of this exact need. The foresight industry is filled with brilliant, diverse, global women, and still, nearly all of the established leadership positions at foresight consultancies/departments are headed by white European/US men. It's no surprise that many women choose (or are forced to choose?) an independent path as consultants, speakers, etc. I personally have had enough of this, and I cannot stand one more white privileged Global North man being condescending towards me because I'm a Latina woman.

👉THESE ARE FUTURES WOMEN - whether you call yourselves that or not - who I am honored to have in my personal and/or professional network. This list comes in no particular order, and I am sure I am forgetting many names here, but this is a start.

“Soaring forty-four stories above the rapidly growing neighborhood of Downtown Brooklyn, an all-electric skyscraper at 505 State Street symbolizes future-forward innovation in New York City. With today’s host of climate concerns informing both designs and regulations, the residential tower will operate without the use of fossil fuel on-site, embodying an optimistic step toward environmental sustainability and reduced carbon emissions. […] Alloy Development has announced the launch of leasing for the 441 apartments of 505 State Street, 45 of which will be income restricted. […] Smart home technology is integrated so that residents will be able to optimize their energy consumption through their smartphone. This is a festival for innovation-seekers, purpose-driven organizations & governments, creative thinkers, citizens, urbanists, and policy-makers to collectively create the futures of urban lives, equitable societies, and creativity in the age of AI.

How did it take this long to introduce you to the wonderful, talented team of volunteers behind Future Resources? Launching: FUTURE DAYS FESTIVAL

I come with huge & incredible news 🫨 I am co-founding an actionable futures festival: Future Days.
Future Days’ first annual edition will happen 21-23 March, 2024, in Lisbon, and the theme is ‘democratizing futures’, with diversity and sustainability at the core. I am also one of the curators of the lineup, along with Rui Quinta and Monika Bielskyte. This will be the Comic Con for futures nerds and people passionate about innovation and creating social impact. I cannot wait to see everyone there!!

🤝 What to expect:

Future Days Festival includes talks, workshops, immersions, co-creation, experiences and performances around global societal challenges. The festival is a global call to arms to implement sustainability and inclusivity across public and private sectors with the participation of those who are usually excluded from this process. We’ll gather world-leading academics, politicians, activists, corporations, civilians of all ages, disabilities, spiritual beliefs, and minority groups to design the futures of mobility, music, food, finance, democracy, health, education, design, etc. Everyone has a say in what our futures should look like.

Future Days is pleased to be officially partnering with School of International Futures, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa and With Company, as well as inspiring futures-makers like Shermon Cruz (UNESCO), Nic Holden (UNDP), Cecilia Tham (Futurity Systems), Monika Bielskyte (Protopia Futures), and Pooja Munshi (UNEP), who are confirmed in our outstanding lineup of speakers & activities moderators.

The valuable insights that will come out of the festival will first and foremost be transformed into actions within Lisbon and Portugal, in an effort to support the 50 Anos de 25 de Abril and set Lisbon as a model of futures-driven city.
