length="0" type="image/jpeg"/>

Sometimes being surrounded by people isn't the same as feeling connected.

I used to think loneliness meant having nobody around.

No friends.

No one to talk to.

No one to text.

But I'm starting to realize that loneliness can look very different.

You can sit in a classroom surrounded by people and still feel alone.

You can have people you call friends and still feel like nobody really knows you.

You can laugh with people during the day and go home wondering if anyone would notice if you became quiet for a while.

I've experienced moments like that.

And I think university makes it even more complicated.

You're constantly around people.

You attend classes together.

You work on assignments together.

You joke around.

You exchange numbers.

But sometimes, despite all that interaction, you still don't feel truly connected.

I've caught myself wondering:

"Do these people actually care about me, or do they just need something from me?"

That's a difficult question to sit with.

Especially when you're someone who genuinely tries to be there for people.

You check on them.

You help when you can.

You remember things that matter to them.

And sometimes you quietly wonder whether they would do the same for you.

But I've learned something important.

Not every friendship is meant to have the same depth.

Some people will be part of your life for years.

Others might only walk with you through one season.

And that's okay.

It doesn't mean the friendship was fake.

It simply means people have different roles in our lives.

I've also realized that sometimes we want to be understood without allowing ourselves to be vulnerable enough to be known.

We say we're fine because it's easier.

We laugh when something actually bothers us.

We disappear when we need someone most.

Then we wonder why nobody noticed.

Maybe connection requires us to take a risk.

To say:

"Hey, I've been having a difficult week."

"Can I talk to you about something?"

"I actually miss having someone to talk to."

Those conversations can feel uncomfortable.

But they can also create the kind of friendship we've been looking for.

And then there's God.

I've had moments where I've felt surrounded by people but still strangely empty.

Those moments have reminded me that human friendship is beautiful, but it can't carry every part of us.

People can disappoint us.

They can misunderstand us.

They can become distant.

But God's presence doesn't depend on whether someone replied to our message.

That doesn't make loneliness disappear instantly.

But it does remind me that being alone and being abandoned aren't the same thing.

So if you're a student reading this and you've been feeling lonely lately, I want you to know something:

There's nothing strange about you for feeling that way.

You don't need hundreds of friends.

You need genuine connection.

And sometimes, finding that connection starts with being brave enough to let someone see the real you.

Maybe send that message.

Start that conversation.

Sit beside someone new.

Check on a friend.

And if you're the person who feels like nobody is checking on you, don't be afraid to reach out either.

You deserve meaningful friendships.

And you don't have to pretend you're okay just to keep them.

Before you go...

Have you ever felt lonely even while surrounded by people?

If you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear your experience in the comments.

Someone reading your story might realize they're not the only one who feels this way. I imagined how things would go, when they would happen, and how everything would finally fall into place.

Then it didn't.

And honestly, I wasn't prepared for how disappointed I would feel.

I kept asking myself:

"Why didn't God let this work out?"

Maybe you've been there too.

You've prayed about something.

You've worked for it.

You've imagined the outcome.

And then, somehow, the door closes.

It's difficult not to take that personally.

We can start wondering if we didn't pray enough, work hard enough, or trust God enough.

But I've been learning that a closed door doesn't automatically mean I've failed.

Sometimes, it simply means God's plan is different from mine.

And that's difficult to accept because we usually want an explanation.

We want to know why.

Why this opportunity didn't work.

Why the answer was no.

Why the timing changed.

Why something we really wanted didn't happen.

But faith doesn't always give us explanations.

Sometimes, it asks us to trust without them.

Looking back at some moments in my life, I've realized that there were things I desperately wanted that probably weren't meant for me.

At the time, I couldn't see that.

I only saw disappointment.

Now, I can see that some closed doors protected me to try.

Ready to stop doubting myself.

The problem is...

That feeling never really came.

Maybe you've experienced that too.

We tell ourselves,

"I'll start studying when I feel motivated."

"I'll apply when I'm more qualified."

"I'll share my ideas when they're perfect."

"I'll trust God when I understand everything."

But what if we're waiting for a feeling that was never meant to come first?

I've realized that courage doesn't usually arrive before the first step.

It often grows because of the first step.

Think about the people we admire in the Bible.

Moses didn't feel ready.

Jeremiah believed he was too young.

Gideon saw himself as weak.

Yet God didn't wait until they felt confident before calling them.

He simply asked them to trust Him.

Maybe confidence isn't what we need most.

Maybe obedience is.

As students, we can spend so much time worrying about failing that we never give ourselves the chance to grow.

But every skill begins with being a beginner.

Every strong faith begins with small acts of trust.

Every meaningful journey starts with one uncertain step.

I've learned that waiting until I feel fearless only keeps me standing still.

Instead, I'm learning to pray a different prayer:

"God, I may not feel ready, but if You're leading me, I'll take the next step."

That prayer doesn't remove fear.

But it reminds me that I don't have to face fear alone.

If you've been waiting for the perfect moment to begin...

Maybe this is it.

Not because everything is certain.

But because God is faithful.

Take the next step.

You might discover that courage was waiting for you on the other side of obedience.

Before You Go...

Is there something you've been putting off because you don't feel ready?

I'd love to hear about it in the comments. Let's encourage one another to take that first step together. 🤍

The Quiet Seasons God Uses to Grow Us

Sometimes the seasons that feel the most ordinary are the ones changing us the most."

Giwa Scott

We naturally celebrate the visible moments in life.

The promotion.

The graduation.

The answered prayer.

The breakthrough.

Those are the moments we tell stories about.

But I've been wondering lately...

What about the quiet seasons?

The days when nothing seems to change.

The prayers that don't seem to have an answer yet.

The routines that feel repetitive.

The waiting that stretches longer than we expected.

Those seasons can feel frustrating because we often mistake silence for absence.

But silence doesn't always mean God isn't working.

Think about a seed.

For a long time, nothing appears above the surface.

If you looked only at the soil, you might think nothing was happening.

Yet beneath the ground, roots are forming.

Growth is taking place long before anyone can see it.

I think our lives can be like that.

There are seasons when God is strengthening our faith, teaching us patience, shaping our character, and preparing us for things we can't yet imagine.

None of that is flashy.

Most of it happens quietly.

As students, we often measure our progress by results.

Grades.

Internships.

Certificates.

Opportunities.

Those things matter.

But some of the most important growth can't be measured.

The ability to keep trusting when life doesn't make sense.

The discipline to keep showing up when motivation disappears.

The kindness you choose even when no one notices.

The humility that comes from depending on God instead of yourself.

Those are victories too.

I've realised that some of God's greatest work in my life hasn't happened during moments of success.

It happened in the ordinary days.

The days that felt unnoticed.

The days I questioned whether I was making any progress.

Looking back, those quiet seasons weren't empty.

They were preparing me.

Maybe that's where you are today.

Maybe you're studying faithfully without seeing the results you hoped for.

Maybe you're praying for direction but only hearing silence.

Maybe you feel like everyone else is moving ahead while you're standing still.

If that's you, don't lose heart.

God is just as present in the waiting as He is in the breakthrough.

And sometimes the roots He grows in the quiet season become the reason you can stand when success finally comes.

Don't despise the ordinary days.

One day, you'll look back and realise they were never ordinary at all.

They were the foundation.

Before You Go...

Can you think of a quiet season in your life that taught you something valuable?

I'd love to hear your story in the comments. But character determines how you walk through them.

There was a time when I believed every achievement would finally make me feel satisfied.

If I got better grades, I'd be happy.

If I became more disciplined, I'd feel confident.

If I reached the next milestone, I'd finally feel like I was enough.

But every time I reached one goal, another one appeared.

The finish line kept moving.

Maybe you've experienced that too.

As students, we're constantly working toward something, the next exam, the next semester, the next opportunity. There's nothing wrong with ambition. In fact, working hard is a good thing.

The problem begins when our achievements become the measure of our value.

I've started asking myself a different question.

Instead of asking, "What am I achieving?"

I ask, "Who am I becoming?"

Because one day, the grades will fade into memories.

The certificates will gather dust.

People may even forget the accomplishments we worked so hard to earn.

But the character we build will stay with us.

I've noticed that some of the biggest lessons in my life didn't come during moments of success.

They came through waiting.

Through disappointment.

Through prayers that seemed unanswered.

Those seasons taught me patience, humility, perseverance, and dependence on God lessons I probably wouldn't have learned if everything had gone according to my plans.

Looking back, I can honestly say I'm grateful for some of the delays I once complained about.

They were shaping me.

Maybe that's what God is doing in your life too.

Maybe this season isn't about making you more successful.

Maybe it's about making you more compassionate.

More patient.

More faithful.

More resilient.

We often pray for open doors.

But perhaps God is first preparing the person who will walk through them.

And maybe that's the greater miracle.

So wherever you are today whether you're celebrating a win or struggling through a difficult season remember this:
<div
