i’m over the trad wife idealism, as I’m sure we all collectively are. It’s a bizarre expression of the patriarchy wrapped up in a skirt, innocently holding some homemade bread. The more nefarious fact of it is that the women online painting the ideal trad wife lifestyle of adhering to traditional gender roles are, in fact, incredibly successful businesswomen. this is only nefarious because the women at home, trying to replicate this lifestyle, are not. they are oftentimes wholly dependent on the income of their partners, leaving them in an incredibly vulnerable position.

and this is no shade to either woman (the real trad wife or the online personification of one). women and girls need to come together more now than ever before.

HOWEVER

my hot take is that the girls need a new fantasy. we’ve been fed so many fantasies. the divine feminine trad wife versus the girl boss high powered ceo who wears pink to work. all of these very...divisive and one-note fantasies.

i’m over it all. we need a new fantasy that is able to encapsulate the whole of femininity. we need to start creating our own fantasies instead of being fed ones by the media, the patriarchy, and our algorithm.

here is what I have in mind:

the solar punk hopecore energy brought into femininity and girlhood. I think we need the hope, the visualization, and the positive future projection.

can we fantasize about a vibrant life that leaves room for regulating our nervous systems? where is the middle ground between wellness and a life well lived? I want to bring color back into life (personally). give me pink bathroom walls and mismatched tiles and togetherness. give me messy hair, the ability to bake, and hold a job. give me a partner, allow me the space to criticize the system without being full-on “i hate every man”.

I personally fantasize about the reclamation of things I loved in my youth. I want to have a youthful spirit while still being intellectually driven. I can put flowers in my hair and be taken seriously in my career.

the whole point of this is: DIY and BYOF. do it yourself and bring your own fantasy. we don’t have to keep following the ones fed to us, they are just trends after all.

our lives are already filled with routine; we do 100x things in a day, and it can feel overwhelming to add in the perfect spiritual routine. yoga, breath work, meditation, energy healing, sound bowls, affirmations, etc. when we treat these divine acts like something to add into our routine, a little bit of the magic dies.

instead, I am challenging you to infuse ritual into your everyday life. but ok, what does this look like?

washing your hair: set the intention to clear out stagnant energy. intentionally speak into the shampoo and ask it to clear negative energy from your crown. watch the soapy water circle down the drain and ask Mama Gaia to alchemize the energy.

your morning matcha: infuse intention into every step. offer gratitude for your mug as you use it, ask the matcha to make you more beautiful (matcha is filled with antioxidants, it is literally making your skin glow), say thank you to the matcha, say thank you to the milk. sit with the warm glass and breathe in the scent, saying something like “with every sip I take, may I infuse the day ahead with more love, more beauty, more abundance”

taking a walk: we alllllll love a ritual walk. make it a ritual by taking a walk in between work & time spent at home or school or just the outside world. With each step set an intention to clear your energy field. or just take time to notice all the trees/flowers/plants/sky and say hello :)

meal times: my personal meal time ritual is to look at my food and say “thank you mother earth, thank you father sky, thank you mother moon, thank you father sun for this beautiful food” and then I ask the food to nurture my body and all of my cells.

you get my point :) our lives are already so deeply spiritual. we are spirit. we are nature. we are divine and we don’t have to force those elements into our lives. instead, can we find gratitude, intention and presence in the lives we already live.

what is your favorite ritual?

you are touching people all day long. you are interacting with all sorts of energy fields. this is so much deeper than what we can see with the physical eyes! together, let’s practice good energetic hygiene to keep your energy intact :)

the human energy field, or aura interacts with and can directly affect others. you can unknowingly be picking up on someone else’s anger, fear, hesitation, doubt, or a plethora of other negative emotions by touching them or working on them. physical touch allows your aura to mix with theirs and an exchange of energy to take place.

at the end of the day, or even after each client, you can clear their energy and call back your own

the easiest clearing practice

in between clients or sessions, wash your hands. but make it intentional. go over to the sink and ask the element of water to help clear your field. as you’re washing your hands, focus on the water and speak out loud or in your head things such as

“please allow this water to wash away any negative emotions that have clung to me”

“please clear away anything that is not mine to carry”

“please cleanse my field of any dense frequencies that will weigh me down”

once your hands are clean (physically and energetically) watch as the water goes down the drain and ask mama gaia to transmute and alchemize this energy

dry your hands and then you can do a quick reiki inspired dry bathing where you sweep your hands across your body with the intention of being fully cleared. it looks like this

call back your energy at the end of the day

everyday, work on calling back your own energy. it can be as simple as these 3 steps

1) close your eyes and find a few deep breaths, breathing all the way from your belly to your throat

2) set the intention that all of the energy you gave, is called back to you and returned to you. you can speak outloud or in your head

3) feel your body fill up with a warm light. visualize the light as any color that resonates with you and YOUR energy in the moment
