A few weeks ago, I wrote about the big wins that Democratic Socialists scored in New York primaries. For the most part, they were Mamdani-backed people who want what other people have worked for but don’t want to get their hands dirty with the “work” part. One has been a student for 14 years. Since then, “mini Mamdani’s,” as House Speaker Mike Johnson recently labeled them, have sprung up all over the nation. From Maine’s favorite Nazi tattoo guy, Graham Platner, to places all across the nation, Democratic Socialists are no longer trying to hide who they really are. They don’t have to; the Democrat Party is literally co-hosting their coming out party.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) recently released their platform for 2026 and beyond. There aren’t a lot of surprises. Free this and free that. Of course it’s going to be free; we are going to tax the rich. Of course, the rich are going to stick around and be taxed, right? You would have expected the next promise to be that there would be a unicorn in every backyard. But they might be saving that for 2028. But unicorns aside, what is on the DSA platform? Here are just a few items:

“Free Medicare for all.” It has long been an item on the commie wish list. This would include abortions and “gender-affirming care,” a.k.a, children would be allowed to mutilate their bodies. That sounds great until you realize that, as with many other things, if you have no competition in healthcare, there is no incentive for anyone to offer a superior product. Ask anyone in the U.K. or Canada how government-run healthcare works for them. However, they might still be within their 12-24 hour waiting period in an emergency room and have not received said healthcare just yet to tell you how great it is.

“A 32-hour work week with no reduction in pay or benefits.” This, along with the favorite of “tax the rich,” are all part of the class envy and the war on the very people who create jobs. That is, until you transfer job creation to the government. What is really mind-boggling is the fact that these commie trust fund kids actually think that the rich are going to hang around and take it. But none of them are going to bother to look at any population statistics, the ones that show people fleeing states like California, New York, and Illinois for the greener, less taxed pastures of Texas, Tennessee, and Florida. What happens when your cash cows are no longer around to tax? It is a lot to ask of a leftist to think beyond next week. A 32-hour work week would work a lot like a $15 an hour minimum wage. Places like fast food cannot afford that, so they cut back on employees. Same with a shorter work week. If your goal is less productivity, you don’t need as many workers.

Then there is “Free Palestine.” Let’s call that what it is: the attempted normalization of antisemitism. “Ending the U.S. war machine,” which is essentially an invitation to China to have its way with America. Finally, there is “Freedom of Movement.” This does away with any regulations or oversight on immigration into the U.S., which basically means doing away with borders. And while we’re at it, give illegal aliens all the rights of an American citizen, including the right to vote.

That is just a bit of the insanity Democratic Socialists/communists have in mind for this country. On the eve of the 2008 Presidential election, then-candidate Barack Obama declared that he and his minions were “five days away from fundamentally transforming America.” Eighteen years later, we have to ask, is this what he meant? In 2016, we laughed when Bernie Sanders proclaimed himself a Democratic Socialist, and we laughed even harder at his goofy ideas. Combine that with generations of students who have no idea what true socialism and communism are, and you have the perfect storm of communism to hit America like a tsunami. Recently, some talking head pundit on the Fox News Channel brushed off the latest wave of Democratic Socialists/communists with something to the effect of “that’ll never happen.” To brush them off like that would be a giant gift to the left, just in time for the midterms. Every Republican and conservative needs to be shouting from the rooftops about who these people are and how they want to destroy the country. We ignore and underestimate them at our own peril.

Everyone has their pet issue. But none of that matters if we lose. If we are looking for a hill to die on, saving America is the one.

This week, Americans will celebrate something they may only get to do just twice in their lifetime. Celebrate a milestone birthday for America. When America turned 200 years old, I was 11. I knew that it was a big deal, but I’m pretty sure 11-year-old me wouldn’t have been able to tell you why it was a big deal. After all, it was summer. School was out, and there were a lot more “important” things to think about. Like the rest of us, I wish those were the only things I had to think about now.

But now, 50 years later, I will at least attempt to say why it is a big deal. We can start at the beginning. People who made an impossible journey across an ocean to carve out and build new lives for themselves in a place where only the natives had done that. Over the course of a few hundred years, they knew they had way more than just a few English colonies on their hands. Men who were not perfect risked everything they had, including their families and their own lives, to declare that we were the United States of America, and we were a nation free of the British crown. To many at that time, it must have seemed like a fool’s errand.

But after a long and bloody war, we were finally free. It took some time to establish the right form of government, but we did. For 250 years, we have followed the documents that the Founding Fathers fought amongst themselves to get just right that they knew would long outlive them. They compromised and made deals and promises that representatives from every area of the new nation could agree on to move the process forward.

Americans have never agreed on everything. In less than one hundred years after America was created, brother fought brother again in a battle bloodier than the first. Some families were forever split apart because of it, never to speak again. But because of the genius of the Founding Fathers, ensuring in those founding documents that there were ways of correcting mistakes that we made as a country, we were finally able to put into practice the notion that all men are created equal.

We were able to expand those original colonies, and more men and women braved another impossible journey across the expanded nation and built with their own hands cities, towns, farms, and everything in between. People from other nations with names like O’Reilly and Kelly, Rossi and Romano, Schmidt and Schneider began coming to America. They knew that if they were willing to work hard, there was not much they couldn’t accomplish. They might have been born somewhere else, but they were all in on the American dream. The ancestors of those who were once enslaved were not always treated well. But despite indignities they never should have had to endure, they too created a large part of that American dream.

America has survived wars, depressions, and national tragedies. There are those who have no love for America because of one thing or another. They believe that America is not a force for good. But in the end, there are way more of us who love America and, despite her flaws, inherently know she is worth fighting for. In a country so deeply and sharply politically divided, it is what so many of us feel we are doing right now: fighting for America.

What’s in store for America in the next one hundred years? With guys like Elon Musk around, it is a question whose answer is so completely open-ended, but in such an exciting way. What would early Americans think of all of the modern conveniences that came from the minds of those who came after them? They would be absolutely astonished at what we have accomplished. But they might also be very afraid. Afraid that if we do not take the enemies America has within her seriously, what they fought and many of them died for will be no more. They might just want to take us all by the shoulders, shake us and say, “Can’t you see what’s happening?!” And they would be right to do so.

But, for now, rational Americans are bursting at the seams with pride for this great nation. Let’s celebrate this incredible place and not be shy to show the rest of the world what a gift it is, and yes, what a big deal it is to be able to say, “I’m an American.”

Ronald Reagan famously said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It has to be fought for and defended by each generation.” Truer words have never been spoken, especially on the eve of the 250^th birthday of America. Someone recently said that America is not an idea, but merely a place. They couldn’t be more wrong. Before there was an America, it was most certainly an idea. The idea that people could govern themselves and live in freedom. The freedom to pursue their own dreams, and the freedom to say what they think. It had never been done before in human civilization.

Reagan would go on to describe how he saw America in a quote from John Winthrop, one of the Pilgrims, who talked about a “shining city on a hill.” America is an idea that became a place. America is not perfect. She is not perfect because she is a nation run and inhabited by imperfect human beings. America has had its dark times and made many mistakes. But in their genius, the Founding Fathers made sure that there were ways to correct those mistakes in our founding documents. But now it seems America might be on the verge of another dark time unless we can stop it.

On Tuesday night in New York City, nine out of ten Democratic Socialist candidates throughout New York City and the State Legislature won their elections, including three in New York City, all backed by Democratic Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Today, if you are what some might call an “establishment” Democrat, and maybe if your name is Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries, you are no doubt sweating profusely.

These used to be the kind of people the great Rush Limbaugh would have labeled the “kook fringe.” In 2016, when Vermont Senator and unabashed Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders burst on the national scene, we snickered at all of his goofy lefty ideas. Those goofy ideas are being mainstreamed and espoused by more and more candidates who are more than willing to proclaim they are Democratic Socialists. How has this happened?

In large part, the public education system is responsible for not teaching, at this point, multiple generations of young people what socialism and communism truly are. In fact, I am going to heed my own admonition and start calling these loons exactly who and what they are, communists. I’ve always thought Democratic Socialist was nothing more than a polite term for communist anyway. But whatever you call them, they are no longer Democrats. That party is all but dead. The Party leaders are no longer Schumer and Jeffries because they have been too paralyzed with fear to call these kooks out, and now they are the Democrat party. So long, Chuck and Hakeem, it’s Zohran’s party now, and because of your own cowardice, there is no way this genie is going back in the bottle. Sure, this was New York, and a lot of things take place there that never would in the middle of the country. Communism may fly not just in New York, but also in California or Illinois, but try saying what one of the communist candidates has said in the past, that she wipes her hands on the American flag in Texas, or in that middle part of America. Things will not go well for you.

So, how do Republicans answer this surge of socialism/communism? Certainly not with brushing it off or complacency. The answer is very simple: when people tell you and show you who they are and what they are going to do, believe them. Republicans cannot think for one nano second that Democrats trotting out their crazy people will automatically win elections for them. The civil war is here, and we must treat it as such. Often, mid-term elections are not a big draw. This one may really just be the most important in this nation’s history, because it will determine the direction of the country. Republicans and conservatives must do whatever they can, no matter how small you might think it is, to make sure we keep the House and the Senate in November.

This was just one night in New York City. But these people are not done yet. In fact, they are just beginning. There are Democratic Socialist candidates all over the nation. They hate America and Americans. Republicans, pay attention. This is no longer a few candidates in blue states. It is a movement that we ignore at our own peril.

Last weekend, on President Donald Trump’s 80^th birthday, he did what many people worldwide said couldn’t be done. The United States and Iran agreed to a memorandum of understanding (MOU), with a peace agreement to be signed on Friday in Switzerland. It comes after months of war, the Iranian military and much of its infrastructure are decimated, many of its leaders killed, and an often shaky at best ceasefire. There are lots of good things in this agreement, the most important of which is that if they are closely monitored, Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. What enriched uranium they have will be disposed of, and Iran will no longer entertain the idea of being a tollbooth in the Strait of Hormuz, which means gas prices in the United States, along with the price of goods and services that depend on that fuel, are coming down. If things go as they should, this is an agreement that comes once in a thousand years and will permanently change Iran and the Middle East forever.

But let’s take a brief trip down memory lane. Back in January, things were already heating up in Iran. There were protests in the streets against the brutal Islamic Iranian regime. After 47 years of oppression, the Iranian people were demanding freedom. What they got in return was the regime murdering thousands of people in the streets just for speaking out against the government. At the end of February, the U.S. had begun conducting strikes against key government and military targets in Iran. When the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed, the Iranian people cheered. There were celebrations in the streets. As more leaders were killed, the more elated Iranians became.

But here’s where I begin to look at this in a very different way than most Americans. At the end of March, I attended CPAC in Dallas. There were hundreds, if not a few thousand, Iranians in attendance. They were there to hear Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, one of the scheduled speakers. But someone else they loved almost as much was President Trump. An hour and a half before Reza Pahlavi was scheduled to speak, they began jockeying for a good spot. It was standing room only. They chanted his name several times during his speech, as well as President Trump’s. Afterwards, I went out into the hall to speak with some of the people to see what they thought. I have never seen people so encouraged and hopeful for the future of their nation as the Iranians I spoke to. They also love the American people for their support. Many of them had fled Iran as children with their families after the 1979 revolution. Some had family members still in Iran. They all had one hope, one wish, one request for President Trump: don’t stop the bombing. Finish the job.

Now, I can only imagine what those people I talked to must be feeling now. As the Iranian people were being slaughtered in the streets of Tehran, Donald Trump promised them that “help is on the way.” Where is that help today? Since the talk of the possibility of peace began, there has been little to no talk of what is to become of the Iranian people. Trump insists that there has been “regime change” in Iran. But if those with whom he and his administration are negotiating are remotely related to the Khamenei regime, nothing has changed. People will still be shot down in the streets for speaking out, and women will still be hunted down by the morality police.

Regime change may not have been part of the original plan for Operation Epic Fury. If that regime change was going to happen, the Iranian people would have to do it. I agree. Americans have had their fill in the last few decades of facilitating regime change. It is up to the Iranian people to shape the destiny of their nation. But regime change is also hard to do when the only people who are armed, are the regime. Will there be some sort of operation to arm the Iranian people, possibly by the CIA or a similar agency? It may be the only pathway to freedom for the Iranian people.

The MOU ushers in a 60-day window of intense negotiations where the details of the agreement will be hammered out. Perhaps during those 60 days, someone, anyone, will remember the Iranian people. Because right now, they have been forgotten. I love President Trump. He has done amazing things for this country that no other President has been able to do, and I generally agree with him. But on this one, Mr. President, you are all kinds of wrong.

We all had them. That one kid in school who, no matter what he did, he somehow managed to get away with it. Until the one time he didn’t. Or the bully who beat everyone up, until that one kid came along who wasn’t going to take it and beat the crap out of the bully. And the bully could not for the life of him figure out why no one came to his defense. The horrific events that took place at the White House Correspondence Dinner Saturday night is one of those stories.

But the story of the kid who got away with it all until he didn’t, and the bully, is really the culmination of several stories. Number one, of course, is the third attempt on the life of President Donald Trump. We know why it keeps happening. Trump said it himself. If he were not a consequential figure, no one would care about him. Joe Biden is proof of that. Donald Trump is a businessman by trade, and in the business world, you are judged on your results and your problem-solving. It is very different from the political world, where you can keep saying you want to solve a problem, but you never really do, because you may need it to run on again at election time. Donald Trump is a man who clearly loves his country and wants to leave it a better place for his kids and grandkids. Obviously, not everyone agrees with how he wants to do that. Like all Presidents, it is what puts a very large target on his back. But Donald Trump’s target is vastly larger than most presidents.

The first assassination attempt on Donald Trump was in July of 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Like the day Ronald Reagan was shot, most people remember what they were doing. His would-be assassin was a scrawny kid who no one really paid any attention to, until they did. The second attempt took place just two months after the Butler, Pennsylvania, incident. Ryan Routh sat in a sniper’s nest for nearly 12 hours before President Trump walked onto the course at Trump International Golf Club. Were it not for a Secret Service agent seeing a rifle barrel peeking through the fence, there would have been a very different end to that day.

After each one of those assassination attempts, the media paused, and like all children who get caught, promised they would be good, and that, oh yes, we need to turn the heat down on the political rhetoric. They are always careful to include the phrase, “on both sides.” This time, however, a few things are different. The biggest one being the very people who radicalized Thomas Crooks in Butler and Ryan Routh in Palm Beach, now had Cole Allen to add to their list of converts. Allen used all the words the media uses: rapist, pedophile, traitor. Or if they don’t use them, they give those who do use them a wink and a nod. But it may have been late-night host, Fox News Channel’s Greg Gutfeld, who put it best. On a recent episode of “The Five,” Jesse Watters discussed Cole Allen’s mental state. Gutfeld responded, saying, “This guy did hear voices. They were Ted Lieu’s, they were Brandon Johnson’s, they were CNN’s, they were The View, they were MS NOW.” Gutfeld added that the media wants nothing to do with this story, even though many of them had a front row seat to it, “because their fingerprints are all over it.”

For the first time on Saturday night, the media got to see the results of a decade of their handiwork up close and personal. They got to see the effect of what using the words they use daily to describe Donald Trump has on someone who no doubt heard them every day. It is early in the investigation, but we may find out that Cole Allen did hear the voices of the left that Greg Gutfeld said he heard and saw himself as a foot soldier for the cause. The voices he heard put out the marching orders, and he was simply carrying out those orders.

And as for members of the media and Democrats trying to look and sound contrite in any way, not this time. Three days before the dinner, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries talked about being in “an era of maximum warfare all the time.” Since the incident on Saturday, Democrats have even blamed Donald Trump for the attempt on his own life. Talking heads all over liberal and conservative cable TV news outlets will insist that “we must tone down the rhetoric; we need to bring the heat down on political discourse.” Don’t believe them. Translated, that means that Republicans watch every word they say, and Democrats continue saying whatever they wish. Does anyone in their right mind think Democrats and the media are going to tone anything down? Of course not. They are not going to stop. At this point, they have to think they are closer to being over the target than they have ever been before. But it doesn’t stop there. Not many people are willing to say it out loud. But do we really think they will stop with President Trump? If they are not targeting Republicans and Conservatives directly, they are perfectly fine with us being collateral damage. At the end of the day, the results are the desired ones for them. On Saturday, the media experienced for the first time the monster they and the Democrats created. But don’t expect them to change course any time soon.

When most Americans think of the 1960’s, the first thing that comes to mind is the Civil Rights movement. It was a growing pain that Americans had to experience “in order to form a more perfect union.” It was, in many cases, an ugly time. But the country came through it and out the other side a better place. We were, as a people, genuinely working to right the wrongs of the past. But because we are imperfect human beings, not all of that ugliness was obliterated. There were still people and places in the country who would hold not just black Americans, but Jewish and other minorities back as well.

Groups like the NAACP and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) started out with good intentions. Their goal was equality for those who might not have ever known it. It was a good cause. But somewhere along the way, something happened. In the case of the NAACP, it has become nothing more than an arm of the Democratic Party. But this week, we learned that the SPLC was ensuring its own job security. On Tuesday, the SPLC was indicted on six counts of wire fraud, four counts of bank fraud, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC funneled more than $3 million in donations, donations from people who genuinely believed that the SPLC was trying to eradicate hate in all its forms in the United States, to the heads of extremist groups like the Ku Klux Klan, United Klans of America, the National Socialist Party of America (the American Nazi Party), Unite the Right, and the Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club, who are affiliated with the Aryan Nations.

According to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, the SPLC paid members of these groups, so, in Blanche’s words, “they could create a work product that reported on these activities.” Translation: the SPLC paid racists to create more racism, all while telling their donors that they were hard at work eradicating racism. Included in the indictment was the fact that the SPLC had set up various shell companies to hide payments to the groups. In one of the more egregious examples, the SPLC paid around $270,000 to a member of the leadership group that planned the infamous “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. That rally resulted in the death of one person and injured dozens more. Another individual, who was part of a neo-Nazi group, was allegedly paid $1 million by the SPLC to steal more than two dozen boxes of the group’s documents.

So, just how much damage, both internal and external, has this monstrous organization caused throughout its miserable existence? The SPLC was founded in 1971. Even if the first 10 or 20 years were on the up and up, it still leaves decades of pain and misery that they have knowingly caused. The scope and breadth of their destruction to America and Americans is unfathomable. If you look up the members of the SPLC Board, you can find them. But no one has ever heard of them. We are in the early stages of this investigation, but at some point, these people who are not household names need to become household names. We need to know everything there is to know about them and why they would knowingly perpetuate such evil.

Then, there are the untold victims of the racism they pushed on an unsuspecting public, just so they would have job security. People of every color and every faith. They funded the American Nazi Party, so it seems like it is safe to say they targeted Jews as well as those of different ethnicities. Like rape victims who will tell you that testifying at the trial of their attacker can feel as though they are being victimized all over again, the victims of the SPLC have inflicted a collective slap in the face to anyone who has experienced or has been wrongfully accused of racism.

And let’s talk about some of those who have been accused of racism by the SPLC. Chances are, they are conservatives. Conservatives have long been a favorite target of the SPLC. In 2008, conservative commentator Laura Ingraham was doing a nationally syndicated radio show. The SPLC dubbed her “Right-Wing Radio’s High Priestess of Hate.” In May of 2025, SPLC put Turning Point USA and its founder, Charlie Kirk, on its hate list. Again, right alongside the KKK and the Nazis. Four months later, Charlie Kirk would be assassinated. Coincidence? No way. It’s a simple formula. If you disagree with the SPLC’s radical leftist agenda, you are peddling hate. But the scary part is that the “hate” list the SPLC puts out is gospel for plenty of organizations. If all you see on a website are people who claim their mission is to wipe out hate, rational people are going to be fully on board. Who wouldn’t want that?

The SPLC has a problem. The supply of racism in America in 2026 does not meet the demand for it that the SPLC needs to remain a viable organization. If Americans love each other, the ghouls at the SPLC have to get real jobs. Just imagine that your life consists of sitting in your cushy office, just waiting for George Floyd 2.0, just waiting for the racism alarm to go off.

Again, we are in the very early stages of the investigation. But if the SPLC is capable of this, just imagine what we will find next.

Politics is a fairy tale. We used to think of a young, wide-eyed Jimmy Stewart, a.k.a. “Mr. Smith,” going to Washington. He went there to fight for the little guy and for the things he believed in. He wanted to make America a better place. We would like to think that in a swampy place like Washington, D.C., there might be just a few who go there and come out unscathed and unswampy. It’s okay to believe in those few. It’s one of the few good things left to believe in about government. But this week, America has been treated to, sadly, how things probably really are in the Swamp, courtesy of a guy like Eric Swalwell.

By now, we have all heard the stories that have come out thus far. The now former California congressman has been credibly accused of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and, in at least one case, rape. Five women have come forward with allegations. Each one seems to have similar stories, including the belief that Swalwell drugged them, ala Bill Cosby. Swalwell has denied all of the allegations, yet he has apologized to his wife and anyone else around him for his “mistakes” and “poor judgment.” But if you haven’t done anything, as Swalwell says, why do you have to apologize? Unless you are really just sorry you got caught.

It’s just the beginning of this whole circus, but there are a whole lot of questions and theories about reason, intent, and timing starting to form in people’s heads. Eric Swalwell has served seven terms in Congress, ran for President for about five minutes in 2020, and most recently was running for Governor of California. The most glaring question is obviously, how in the fresh hell did he think that none of this was going to come out? You have to be so sure of your place within the Democrat Party that you think they can’t live without you, or you are quite literally the dimmest bulb on the planet. It’s a pretty safe guess that Swalwell thought he was all that and more. But the numerous sexual assault victims are just the tip of the iceberg. In addition to what Jesse Watters dubbed it, Swalwell’s “zipper problem,” Swalwell has some questions swirling around about campaign fund expenditures, more specifically involving a Brazilian nanny, and possibly her own questionable work status, and some residency issues. There may be even more sexual allegations coming forward that involve some underage girls.

But the next equally glaring question is, who knew what, and when did they know it? It didn’t take long for Democrats to get a collective case of amnesia. While the consensus was that Swalwell and his faulty zipper were no secret around the Swamp, even several members of the media knew full well about it. But now, trying to find any Democrat to own up to even sitting next to Swalwell in the House dining room is all but impossible. We already have an answer to this question. The answer is, they all knew. Swalwell’s BFF, Arizona Sen. Rueben Gallego (D), was seen on Tuesday huffing, puffing, and sweating like someone whose best friend has been outed for being a perv, claiming “I have been lied to,” and “he was living a double life.” Let’s call this what it is: BS. Then there is Speaker Emerita herself, Dame Nancy Pelosi. She also claimed to have no knowledge whatsoever about Swalwell’s indiscretions. No one in California runs for dog catcher without San Fran Nan giving them the okay. That is even less believable than Gallego. There are also whisperings that members of the media knew but didn’t report on it. One saying that “it wasn’t my beat.” Women are being assaulted and victimized, but that’s not your beat? With women like you around, who needs creepy guys?

And what of those women? They are victims multiple times over. Victims of Swalwell, victims of the Democrat machine, victims of a complicit media. Did Democrats tell these women to shut up? If one person, one, had spoken up or done something, how many might have been spared? It’s unconscionable. But here is what the meat and potatoes of it really is. Eric Swalwell was a reliable Trump attack dog for the Democrats, therefore useful, and was the Democratic frontrunner in the California gubernatorial primary. The Democrats knew what a trainwreck he was, and they knew it would be Christmas and birthdays rolled into one for Republicans who, for the first time in 20 years, have a fair chance at electing a Republican Governor in Steve Hilton, and Hilton would have trounced him. Suddenly, he was profoundly useless to the party and was offered an offramp. But when you have the stunning amount of hubris as Swalwell does, to run not only for President, but for Governor with this in his background, there was no way he was taking it. So, Democrats took it for him. But the most amazing thing, Swalwell’s dalliance with Fang Fang, the Chinese spy, wasn’t enough for these people.

Should the people who knew and did nothing be held criminally liable? Can they? We’ll see. But there is a known slush fund for all lawmakers who find themselves in this kind of…well…pickle, that we are paying for. Who has accessed it? This is no longer the 60s, where the “boys will be boys” attitude reigns supreme, and JFK snuck chicks into the White House swimming pool, and Secret Service agents kept Jackie out, even though she knew what was going on.

The Party that claims to be the “defender of women” is anything but. Make them own it.

It’s probably a safe bet that most Americans believe that you cannot hate the mainstream media enough. They have no doubt always been the left-wing crazies they have always been, but you can almost pinpoint the minute they decided to let it all hang out and let their crazy flap in the breeze for all the world to see. It coincides with about the same time that the Fox News Channel hit the airwaves. Usually, their crazy can be giggled at and brushed off, but in the era of Donald Trump, nothing is off the table.

As the nuclear disarming of Iran goes into its seventh week, and by all indications, the mission is a monumental success. But any Trump success will, of course, be picked apart and downplayed by the media in an attempt to help their umbrella organization, otherwise known as the Democrat Party. But on Monday, their pettiness took on a whole other meaning. On Friday, a U.S. F-15 fighter jet was shot down in Iran. Both the pilot and the weapons systems officer ejected from the aircraft. The pilot was found hours later, but the weapons systems officer was still unaccounted for. President Trump stated that the officer had been badly injured but was able to contact American forces to transmit his location. A massive rescue operation ensued, and the officer was found. As all of this was taking place, Iranian state media was offering a $60,000 reward, which amounted to a bounty, for the capture of the pilot.

What could have been a deadly situation ultimately ended well. But in another vein, something else sinister took place. During a press conference on Monday, Trump stated that information that U.S. forces did not immediately rescue the second pilot had been leaked in the media. The President went on to say, “We’re looking very hard to find that leaker. They basically said that we have one and there’s somebody missing. Well [Iran] didn’t know there was somebody missing until this leaker gave the information. We think we’ll be able to find it out, because we’re going to go to the media company that released it, and we’re going to say, ‘national security, give it up or go to jail.’” Trump also emphasized the fact that whoever was irresponsible enough to do this endangered the life of the pilot.

According to The Military Times, Israel Channel 12 reporters Amit Segal and Barak Ravid first posted the information on Telegram and X. Ravid also works for Axios. Segal cited “a Western source.” He also said that he was not sure if he was the first to report it, then vowed to protect his source. Segal may have been the one to set off reporting the story, as American outlets like the Washington Post, Reuters, and CBS News followed. There are “shield laws” in several states and Washington, D.C. that protect the sources of journalists, but there is no federal protection.

No one is asking…yet, for anyone to reveal sources. But today’s media is operating at a completely different level, with entirely different rules than in the days of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite. In fact, today’s media gave themselves permission to “cover Trump differently” right from the start. In 2016, during Trump’s first campaign, then-New York Times media columnist Jim Rutenberg asked if “normal journalistic standards apply” when covering Donald Trump. We have since learned that the apparent consensus was no.

The self-outing of the media began long before Donald Trump came on the scene. They decided well before 2016 that Republicans and conservatives needed to be covered differently. Preferably, in the most negative light possible. The double standards became more visible, and as they did, the fact that the media didn’t care if they were visible also became more obvious. But now, there is no semblance of trying to find the truth, get the traditional “5 W’s” of who, what, where, when, and why of the story. The race is not to get the story first, but to see who can make Donald Trump look as bad as possible first. They seem to have the same problem with Trump that they did with George W. Bush. They can’t decide if he is an evil genius or needs the 25^th Amendment.

And the stakes are even higher now that America is embroiled in a conflict abroad, and America’s fighting men and women are in harm’s way. We already know the Democrats are actively rooting for Iran, but as the dutiful propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, the media is also actively rooting for America to fail. Why? Not because there is a fundamental disagreement in policy or strategy, although if they were the objective reporters they claim to be, their audience would never know of that disagreement. They want America to fail because if it does, that means Donald Trump fails, and that is all they are interested in. Does that make the American military mere collateral damage for them? It’s too pathological to comprehend, but it is clear that it is a distinct possibility.

What happens when this conflict is over, and America’s service men and women are welcomed home like the heroes they are? The media will do their best not to acknowledge them because their presence will be a sign of Donald Trump’s success. It is ever increasingly sick and twisted. And there is always their relatively new journalistic norm, which is simple but, in their minds, effective: if we don’t cover it, it didn’t happen.

As Americans, we inherently know that we are blessed to live in the greatest nation on the planet. We go about our days and live our busy lives, usually not thinking about the freedom we enjoy doing many things that people in other nations cannot. But often, people from those places make their way to America, and they make the plight of their fellow countrymen heard loud and clear. Iran is one such place. There are almost as many opinions on President Donald Trump’s decision to take out the brutal Iranian regime as there are Americans. The primary reason is to prevent them from obtaining nuclear weapons, and using them not only on the U.S., but also on Israel, and anyone else in the Middle East they would see fit to use them on. It will also allow the Iranian people to choose their own leader and form of government.

There are lots of rallies happening all over the U.S., both for and against the military action in Iran. But there are some stark differences. When the left holds a rally, it is usually to trash America, and more specifically, to trash the very air Donald Trump breathes, and as we saw recently in New York City, leftist rallies tend to get violent. But in the case of Iran, there are very different rallies being held. These are rallies held by Iranian Americans.

I was fortunate enough to attend one of these rallies recently. The primary reason for the rally was to ask Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt (R) if he would join the “Iranians Living in St. Louis” group in supporting Reza Pahlavi in heading up the transitional process in Iran from a brutal dictatorship to freedom. Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran, is extremely popular with Iranian Americans and is said to have a detailed plan to bring his homeland out of the depths of dictatorship to being a stable, vibrant nation that is friendly with its neighbors in the region and with the West.

Several members of the group were invited to meet with Senator Schmitt’s representatives. It was a meeting unlike any I had ever witnessed before. It is one thing to read about the stories of Iranian Americans, or watch interviews on television, but it is another thing entirely to be there as they tell those stories. Sheri has been in the U.S. for 41 years but still has family members in Iran. The day I met her, she had found out her cousin in Tehran had died of cancer. The regime had told her cousin that they would not treat her. The reason: she was “too old.” Sheri’s cousin was 59 years old. Raymond Gharabeygi is a Christian pastor. He talked about Iran in biblical times, before Islam. He says it was a society of freedom and equality. He also talked about the invasion of Muslim migrants in Europe, how those countries have let their unique cultures become overrun and practically non-existent out of fear of being called racist or Islamophobic. He bluntly stated, “Europe is gone,” and if the U.S. does not obliterate the Iranian regime once and for all, they will not stop, and what has happened in Europe will happen here. They also verified what is already becoming glaringly obvious, that Marxists and Islamists are working together to destroy the West.

Ahdieh Coleman has lived in the U.S. for 30 years. She is a member of the Baha’i faith. She explained that if you are in any minority group, you will be persecuted by the regime. She said that she had been kicked out of school twice because of her faith. Amina Muhammedalipour teaches physics at a local university. She apologized to everyone as she spoke. She said it was very hard for her to talk about her homeland without crying.

I was brought to tears as I listened to the stories of those in the room. It was impossible not to get the most overwhelming feeling of gratitude, and at the same time, the realization that as an American, I really had no earthly concept of what these people had endured. All because of the simple fact that I had been born in America, into freedom and liberty. When the meeting ended, we went outside to stand with other Iranian Americans in front of the Courthouse. I have never met friendlier, more genuine people in my life. They are eternally grateful to be in the U.S., and they are equally grateful to the American people who support their cause. I have never been hugged by total strangers more.

What is going on in Iran right now is just the beginning. Even though just about every bit of infrastructure they need to engage in war with the U.S. or anyone else is gone. Most of their leaders are gone, or at the very least, have a target on their backs. But being the religious zealots that they are, they will not quit. Their twisted ideology tells them they will be martyrs when they die. But they will be gone soon. Then, the people of Iran can begin to rebuild their country, and they will be able to choose what kind of government they want for themselves. Women will no longer have to cover themselves and will have the freedom to work, go to school, and live their lives. My new Iranian friends are understandably apprehensive about the future of their country. But at least now they believe there is a future.

Every now and then, you have to revisit your “why.” Why do you do something that you do? One of the things I love to do here at Gumshoe Politics is not only talk about what is in the news, but also what’s not in the news. The stories that maybe not a lot of people are talking about. Many of those stories are about people you don’t hear about. This is one of those stories.

The entire world is watching what is taking place in Iran. On February 28, President Donald Trump ordered strategic air strikes on the Islamic nation. The Iranian people have celebrated almost nonstop as the U.S. has taken out not only Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but also roughly 49 of his subordinates, those who might have taken over after the Israelis and the Americans made sure that Khamenei had, in the words of the great Rush Limbaugh, “assumed room temperature.” As of this writing, virtually every tool the Iranian regime had to go about the process of war has been destroyed. Now, it is the Iranian people themselves who must take back their country. While all Iranians are literally dancing in the streets, it is Iranian women for whom life has the chance to change dramatically. Gone will be the mandatory head covering or hijab and the morality police. Now they will have the freedom to live their lives. And there is probably no woman celebrating harder than Masih Alinejad.

Masih Alinejad’s story is a lot like so many other Iranian women. But Masih had one thing other Iranian women truly did not have: a voice. She was born in a small Iranian village but made a name for herself as a prominent journalist. She earned her journalistic chops over ten years covering the Majlis, the Iranian Parliament, for a newspaper called “Hambastegi,” and later as a columnist for the reformist newspaper, “Etemad-e Melli.” Because she was bold enough to tell the truth, she was forced to flee Iran in 2009. But that was where her new calling as an activist bloomed. She produced a radio series that focused on victims of the 2009 protests against a disputed presidential election. Currently, she reports and presents a weekly television segment for the Voice of America called “Tablet.” It is an entertaining combination of hard news and satire.

Masih Alinejad wasn’t done yet. In 2014, she created “My Stealthy Freedom.” It began as a Facebook page and now has around one million followers. My Stealthy Freedom is all about women’s empowerment in Iran and is the largest campaign of its kind in Iran. The idea behind My Stealthy Freedom is simple; it encourages women all over the country to share pictures of themselves without hijabs to protest the strict dress code forced upon women in Iran. The movement has gotten a lot of attention outside Iran and has been covered by media outlets all over the world, like The New York Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, and Der Spiegel. In February, Masih was awarded the Women’s Rights Award by the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy, for “Giving a voice to the voiceless and stirring the conscience of humanity to support the struggle of Iranian women for basic human rights, freedom, and equality.” And in 2019, she became a U.S. citizen.

But Masih Alinejad’s fight for Iranian women has also come at a very dangerous price. In 2025, she testified at the trial of two men who plotted to kidnap her in 2022. They were both convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison. The prosecutor stated that Iran had put a $500,000 bounty on her head. In January, Carlisle Rivera was sentenced to 15 years in prison for threatening to assassinate her “on behalf of Tehran.” An Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson denied any murder-for-hire plots Rivera claimed to be involved in.

Now, Masih Alinejad may be witnessing her life’s work, bringing freedom to Iranian women, come to fruition, with the help of President Donald Trump. There is a sharp contrast in the reactions of those who have lived under the brutal Iranian regime and American leftists, who will not support anything Donald Trump does, even if it means liberation for millions, just because he is the one doing it. But maybe the most noticeable thing is that those leftists, who think they know better than Iranian Americans who are dancing in the streets, thanking Trump and the U.S. military for the strikes on Iran, are making sure their chronically uninformed protests never get anywhere near those who are celebrating. Are they afraid of some truth bombs?

And what of American feminists? Where are they? Isn’t the equality of all women something many of them have spent their lives fighting for? Now that they have a chance to support women in Iran in their fight, they are nowhere to be found. The answer to that is that it all comes down to raging cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome. But think about it, your searing hatred for one man prevents you from celebrating the liberation of women who have been beaten, been the victims of acid attacks, and killed, all because they showed a little too much hair underneath a hijab. They may have been feminists at one time, but they have traded that in to be nothing more than socialist Marxist foot soldiers. Sell-outs.

It is early on in this process, and literally anything can happen. But the one thing that has definitely happened is hope.

It has taken decades and a lot of people to rip it apart, but we can safely say that the protective bubble that has surrounded the mainstream media is all but evaporated. Rush Limbaugh was one of the first to explain just exactly who they were and what their agenda was, even the fact that they had an agenda. When you watch them now, knowing what we know, it is downright comical that they think they are keeping up the veneer. They not only think they are keeping it up for themselves and the dozens of viewers they have left, but also for their chosen Democrat politicians.

One of the favorites in the protective media bubble has, of course, been Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or as we “affectionately” call her, AOC. The media has propped her up since her meteoric rise in the Democrat party began in 2019, when she beat out 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley to represent New York’s 14^th Congressional District. While AOC’s victory is a lesson in “never say never” for guys like Crowley, it is also a lesson in “be careful what you wish for” for voters. She became a media darling early on. A former bartender, she was a new, fresh face with what the media tried to sell as fresh new ideas. They were not. In fact, as a self-described Democratic Socialist, the “Democratic” part is purely cosmetic. AOC herself was selling old, tired ideas that have failed miserably every time they have been tried.

And because she was part of a new generation of Democratic elected officials, the media also tried to tell us that AOC was some sort of genius. After all, she was a 2011 cum laude graduate of Boston University, with a double major in International Relations and Economics. Turns out that AOC is the poster child for, just because you have a stack of degrees doesn’t make you a genius. In her case, it just means you read a lot of books. And just because you have read a lot of books doesn’t mean that every idea you read about actually works. In a 2019 interview, she said that the world would end in 12 years if the U.S. did not address climate change. Translation: the U.S. had better sign on to the socialist grift that is climate change. AOC has since proven herself not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. She has blamed said climate change on “racial injustice.” But that was tame compared to the Biden-esque comment she made during a town hall event in October of 2025, when she accused Deloitte of being a company that contaminates water sources with toxic chemicals in rural communities. Just one problem: Deloitte is an accounting firm. And let’s not forget that it is “more important to be morally right than factually correct.”

But apparently, these were all just practice for what was to come last weekend at the Munich Security Conference. AOC showed up with that other walking brain trust, Gavin Newsom, to the conference that also welcomed actual serious people like Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who gave a speech some have called “the speech.” The best part about people who think they are smart but aren’t is watching them try to sound smart. As might be expected, comedy gold ensued. Bloomberg TV anchor Francine Lacqua was a moderator at the conference. She asked AOC, “Would and should the U.S. commit troops to defend Taiwan if China were to move? AOC gave this bit of foreign policy mastery, saying, “Um, you know, I think that this is such a, you know, I think this is, this is of course a very, longstanding policy of the United States. What we are hoping for is that we want to make sure that we never get to that point. And we want to make sure that we are moving in all of our economic research and our global positions to avoid any such confrontation, and for that question to even arise.”

The only follow-up question to that mangled bit of English, if, in fact, that is what it was, is, what kind of dressing would you like on that word salad? AOC herself took a wrecking ball to the prop carefully constructed for her for all of these years by the media. Never say never should be a standard rule for anyone in politics who is seeking higher office, but if AOC really does have presidential aspirations, well…let’s just say that all Howard Dean had to do to scrap any chance at the White House was scream. That looks tame now compared to this unintentional intellectual buffoonery. Believe it or not, there was more, but you get the drift. The other thing about unintelligent people is that they don’t know how they sound. You just know that AOC went into a restroom somewhere in the building, stared into the mirror, and high-fived herself.

But the one thing to know about the media and any possible presidential run for AOC is that the media would have made sure never to put her in that position. They would have done what they needed to do, no matter how shady, to ensure that she would have come out smelling like a PhD. Any AOC presidential campaign would look exactly like a Joe Biden campaign without all the ice cream, courtesy of the left-wing media. You know, the same people who tried to appear to be ashamed that they didn’t report on Joe’s brain was turning to mush.

Maybe even more jaw-dropping than AOC’s Munich performance is the fact that her district is a nightmare with drugs and open prostitution running rampant. But she will be reelected in 2026.

Americans have always held those in the healthcare field in high esteem. They are the people who take care of us when we are sick. They also take care of our loved ones, parents, children, and spouses. They are the most compassionate and empathetic ones among us. For most people who go into the healthcare field, it’s not just a job or a career; it’s a calling. I spent thirty years of my life in healthcare, more specifically, as a Pharmacy Technician. I suspect the “calling” part is more for doctors and nurses. I enjoyed it, I learned a lot, and I made good friends. I would have never become wealthy, but I earned a good living for myself and even managed to take some vacations here and there. My first three years were spent in retail, and except for about eight years in home infusion, the rest were spent in hospitals.

To say a lot changed in those thirty years would be an understatement. With the advent of computers and other automation, the job itself changed, and with it, the job description changed. But the people changed too. In those early years, I never remember politics entering into the job at all. We didn’t even talk about politics. I’m sure everyone had their opinions, but we just never discussed them. Pharmacy Technicians don’t really have a lot of patient contact, but they definitely see the people who do, mainly doctors and nurses. So, imagine my horror, as I have witnessed on social media, healthcare workers who now talk about harming supporters of President Donald Trump, ICE agents, and just about anyone else who might describe themselves as MAGA. And because these people are viewed as “healers,” the horror level of everyday Americans has to be off the charts.

Maybe the scariest part is the fact that there seems to be no shortage of those who, before they deem you worthy of medical care, must know your political affiliations and leanings. Isn’t that a bit like denying someone care because of their race or religious affiliation?

The first one that recently came to light was a now-former labor and delivery nurse, who wished a severe delivery injury on White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is pregnant with her second child. In her social media post, this person referred to the recent shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Is this some sort of sick eye-for-an-eye? Apparently so. But the State of Florida had the last laugh. As of Wednesday, Lexie Lawler had her nursing license revoked.

But this was just the first of several nurses who decided that they would play judge, jury, and executioner when it came to the healthcare not just of ICE agents, but also of Trump supporters. In the wake of this outbreak of Trump and ICE Derangement Syndrome, the Florida Board of Nursing might want to start vetting who they give nursing licenses to a bit better. Erik Martindale is a Nurse Anesthetist, you know, someone in charge of putting you to sleep when you are going to have surgery? Well, Erik Martindale had this to say about MAGA supporters: that he would not give Republicans anesthesia before they underwent surgery, and that it was his right and that it is ethical. Former RN Lawler is now flipping burgers, and hopefully, Florida, in its infinite wisdom, will send Martindale off to be fitted for a White Castle apron as well.

But the cherry on the evil cake has to go to someone named Malinda, who, by the looks of her scrubs, is also a nurse anesthetist. There’s a truly horrifying pattern. She suggested not only water guns filled with poison ivy or poison oak-laced water, but also syringes filled with a drug called succinylcholine, a paralytic drug that shuts down the muscles used for breathing. Unless that person is on artificial respiration, that person will die. Dr. Kelly Victory, MD, bluntly explains that this is simply attempted murder. This ghoul was employed by Virginia Commonwealth University Health. She no longer is.

These are all people charged with saving lives, not ending them. What sort of chip do you have to be missing to think that this is all perfectly okay? The kind where your cause is the only thing that matters, nothing else. And when you can dehumanize someone just because you don’t agree with their politics, it’s that much easier. But the best part is, how many people have come before them wearing something that might denote their political affiliation? A MAGA hat, or a shirt with a pro-life message on it? As a journalist at RedState.com, I am so proud whenever I wear my RedState T-shirt. I have worn it to medical facilities. Have any of these monsters seen me wearing it and committed it to memory “just in case?” I don’t know.

Who are these people, and I use that term loosely, who think it is their job to determine who literally gets to live or die based on their politics? Is it just a simple case of having a “God complex” that we hear of from time to time among those in the medical profession, or is it something much darker and sinister? And the nurse who says it is his “ethics?” I am sure I speak for all of his patients, past, present, and future, who would ask him to point in the handbook to where those “ethics” are listed.

There is a very simple rule we must follow when dealing with these leftist lunatics. When people tell you who they are, believe them.

Shortly after his election in 2008, former President Barack Obama uttered the sentence, “elections have consequences.” Nothing could have been more illustrative of just how truthful that is than not just the Obama administration, but the Biden administration as well. Much of President Donald Trump’s second term in office has consisted of cleaning up prior Democratic administrations’ free-for-alls. Obama followed up that comment with another one, “I won.” Well, that’s true, he did win. And as such, Democrats got to put their agenda in place. That is how our system of government works. Whoever wins the election gets to implement what they want to do.

But as is always the case, when Democrats win, we are told that “the people have spoken,” and that it was the freest and fairest election in the history of the world. When Republicans win, it was a fraudulent or stolen election, and Republicans do not get to implement what they want. And in the case of President Donald Trump, magnify that by about 100. Roughly 70 million plus Americans voted Donald Trump back into office in November, and they voted for exactly what he is now doing. But if you hear Democrats tell it, or better yet, watch their behavior in reaction to it, that is completely untrue.

Nowhere else is that on full display more so than right now in Minneapolis. Donald Trump campaigned on ridding the country of millions of illegal immigrants, beginning with violent criminals. It is what Border Czar Tom Homan, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and the men and women of the Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been tasked with doing. They are removing truly horrible people from the country. Murderers, rapists, child predators, drug and human traffickers, and cartel and gang members, just to name a few. But defending these monsters is the hill Democrats and their useful idiots have decided to die on. Since the death of Renee Good as she tried to murder an ICE agent with her car, for the better part of two weeks, every blue-haired left-wing nutjob in the country has converged on Minneapolis. Most of them appear to be your garden variety AWFULs, affluent white female urban liberals, many of them appear to be reliving their 60s glory days of “fighting the man.” They also appear to be playing “can you top this,” when it comes to their daily antics. Each day seems to bring with it more obnoxious behavior.

It is hard to tell just yet, but this bat-crap crazy crowd may have hit rock bottom with their disgusting conduct. On Sunday, a group of anti-ICE rioters, they’re not protesters, burst into a St. Paul church, where they attempted to call out Pastor David Easterwood, who they accused of having ties to ICE. There is someone with the same name employed at the field office, and apparently, that was all this band of rocket scientists needed. They barged into people’s house of worship, disrupted the service, and terrified churchgoers, including children. Easterwood was not at the Sunday service, which left the lead Pastor, Jonathan Parnell, to try to remove the mob from the premises.

President Trump has stated on several occasions that he would be willing to invoke the Insurrection Act if the violence does not get under control. But at other times, he seems to be a bit shaky about pulling the trigger on it. But you have to wonder a couple of things at this point. Just how much longer are normal people in Minneapolis, and Minnesota in general, going to put up with this, and what is going to have to happen for Trump to go through with the Insurrection Act? Given the continual ramping up of their daily activities, what action the mob might have to take is an increasingly disturbing question.

But what if you are just an average American who happens to live in Minneapolis? You are just living your life, going to work, taking your kids here and there, or at least trying to, and you constantly have this band of left-wing crazies blocking traffic, blocking off streets, throwing things at ICE agents, and generally making life miserable? And the response by the Minneapolis Police Department is… no response. Police are letting this band of lunatics run wild and do whatever they want to do, and there are no consequences for their actions. What if they damage your vehicle? Who pays? Chances are you do. There will be no police around to fill out a police report. Minneapolis, how are you not getting sick and tired of this? Haven’t you had enough?

Will the rampage at Cities Church in St. Paul finally be the last straw for decent, law-abiding Minneapolis residents? Having the freedom to worship is something that used to cross all political spectrums. It was a line no one crossed because it affected everyone. But we are in a vastly different time now. There are no lines the left is not willing to cross. And no one has talked about the fact that this church was no doubt picked for a reason. Notice that those protesters didn’t decide to disrupt services in a black church. Disrupting any church service is unacceptable, but there is a specific reason for storming a church with a largely white congregation.
