But as we report in our Substack article “The Sacred Cell and Conscious Genes (which should be read in conjunction with this article), these micro structures are not ‘solid’ in the same way as classical objects like rocks and houses appear to the eye. They exist in a virtual quantum mechanical space. The laws of physics show that they interact with ‘observations’. In other words they are connected to consciousness. At the deepest unified level of natural law, reality has the 3-in-1 structure of consciousness—the togetherness of knower, process of knowing and known which is reflected in the theories of quantum cosmology.

In his deep analysis of the Vedic literature as a science, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi explains that the extensive Vedic literature was ‘cognised’ or revealed in the consciousness of Vedic seers who recorded the fundamental vibrations of the universe as a sequence of sounds and gaps between sounds. The parallels with the cellular structure and function of human physiology run very deep indeed, as revealed in the 600 page book by Tony Nader MD PhD written with the guidance of Maharishi “Human Physiology - Expression of Veda and the Vedic Literature” (listen to Nader briefly introducing the concept here).

These structures or laws of nature are ‘alive’ in the profound sense of the word. Remarkably, there are texts of the Vedic Literature called the Puranas and Itihasas which present these fundamental structures as cosmological histories of living beings which illustrate the deep meanings of the Veda. At the conclusion of our article The Sacred Cell and Conscious Genes we drew an analogy between the main characters in the epic Ramayana (part of Itihasa) and the main divisions of living cells. We continue to draw parallels in today’s article.

In Vedic cosmology the universe is supported by four elephants standing on a tortoise which makes little sense to the western mind until you find that name of the tortoise is ‘Akupara’ which translates as ‘limitless’ or ‘unbounded’. The universe stands on the abstract unboundedness which echoes the unified field of physics which is pre-geometry (before space and time) and therefore unbounded in the true sense of the word. Now begin to regard the universe as a living entity understood by Vedic seers or ‘rishis’. On a cosmological scale we could read the four elephants as the four fundamental forces, electromagnetic, strong and weak nuclear and gravity. On a microscopic scale that is equally fundamental to life, we could read them as the four genetic bases of DNA, the foundational backbone of living systems. If you look at the molecular structure of cytosine, guanine, thymine and adenine you can immediately see why anyone can use their imagination and draw this parallel. My daughter managed to superimpose passable pencil elephants on each of the DNA bases below within a matter of a few minutes.

Two views of life, one through the outer eye of science and one through the inner eye of consciousness, both looking at the same reality, but describing it in startlingly different terms. One should not dismiss either view as unreal. Scientists cannot ‘see’ DNA, they are using instruments to put numbers and concepts against a very limited range of readings obtained by machines. Vedic seers are describing what they ‘see’ in terms of sequences of sounds which the Vedas themselves say “rush on to those who are fully awake”.

The reference to the four pillars of creation or elephants near the beginning of Valmiki’s Ramayana is accompanied by a cautionary history. A King named Sagara wished to assert his universal dominance by completing the Ashvamedha ritual or horse ceremony. The name Sagara means ‘born near poison’ and it is also the name of the ‘ocean’ both of which link Sagara to the embodiment of unbounded silence known as Shiva. Of whom it is said “Shivam Shantam Advaitam Chaturtham Manyante Sa Atma Sa Vigneyah”—the peaceful, the undivided, considered to be the fourth [the transcendent beyond waking dreaming and sleeping, the wholeness beyond the observer, process of observation and observed], that is the Self and that is worth knowing”.

The Ramayana contains the story of Shiva swallowing the poison which came out of the primordial ocean when it was churned using a snake. The snake represents DNA. Sagara had 60,000 sons. The number 60,000 is significant, it is the total number of genomic loci found in human DNA. The churning of the ocean also yielded the nectar of immortality or ‘amrita’ which gave the structure of DNA its longevity.

Sagara sent his sons to find the horse which had been lost. They dug into the ocean bed and disturbed the four elephants before coming upon the horse grazing next to a sage called Kapila. Kapila’s meditation was disturbed and he angrily burnt the 60,000 sons to ashes. The descendants of Sagara eventually redeemed the sons by washing their ashes with water from the Ganga, a celestial river they persuaded to descend to earth through their long austerities or meditation.

Does this story have a wider scientific meaning?

Kapila is the author of the sophisticated Vedic darshana or philosophy called Sankhya which means ‘pertaining to number’. It holds that the knowledge of an object will not be complete without the knowledge of its components. It explains the sequential emergence of the qualities of material creation from the abstract transcendental reality known as Purusha or universal consciousness. Thus it describes the nexus where the objective reality described by modern science emerges from the subjective reality known to Vedic Science. As a seer of the Veda has fully awake consciousness, this nexus can be identified as the abstract structure whereby DNA emerges from consciousness itself.

In this light, disturbing Kapila, the author of Sankhya, amounts to disturbing the connection between universal consciousness and the genetics of human physiology which in turn facilitates the expression of universal consciousness as our individual consciousness. This disturbance undermines or burns up the structure and function of human life in all its manifold aspects. In essence, Sagara’s sons dug too deep into the underlying stability of the genetic structure of life and undermined it to extinction. In a genetic sense, sequences can be damaged or edited to the extent that their function is fatally altered. Most especially their capacity to support the expression of consciousness is diminished, as we have discussed in our two articles (see here and here) covering Twenty Reasons to Completely Reject Biotechnology Experimentation.

The redemption of Sagara’s sons through the austerities of subsequent kings in his line involves the process of meditation to contact inner silence, the ground state or state of least excitation of consciousness. Meditation has a revitalising and repairing effect on the function of DNA as reported in a 2023 article in Brain, Behavior and Immunity under the titled “Transcendental Meditation practitioners show reduced expression of the Conserved Transcriptional Response to Adversity. During the practice of meditation a self referral flow of consciousness within itself is experienced. Studies show this is accompanied by high EEG coherence between brain hemispheres and beneficial metabolic rest which initiates a flow of vital energy in human physiology producing corresponding health benefits. Ultimately all such physiological effects depend on efficient genetic expression. Therefore the effects of meditation equate to the flow of Ganga which redeemed the 60,000 sons of Sagara or in parallel terms improved the function and expression of the 60,000 human genetic loci.

Ganga’s descent from transcendental regions is so energetic that it is arrested by Shiva’s head, the embodiment of absolute silence. Shiva is depicted as having a snake around his neck and his hair tightly wound in a top knot. Ganga disappears into this structure and wanders in the labyrinth of Shiva’s matted locks until the fierce energy and velocity of Ganga’s descent is tamed and harnessed. This equates to the role of DNA in supporting the expression of unbounded consciousness as individual consciousness. Ganga is then released in multiple streams onto the earth when Shiva unlooses a portion of his hair. Shiva’s tightly wound hair equates to the tightly wound strands of DNA. The flow of Ganga is embedded in the self-referral quantum structure of DNA which is able to self-repair due to its coherent properties akin to superconductivity and superfluidity. Shiva unwinding his matted locks equates to the transcription of DNA when the DNA helix separates and expresses itself as messenger RNA. The escape of Ganga in multiple streams equates to the multiple pathways within microbiological systems initiated by the action of RNA which, as we have discussed in earlier articles, flow throughout our physiology maintaining the five fundamentals of stability, adaptability, purification, integration and growth.

The philosophy of Sankhya explains how consciousness is primary and sequentially gives rise to matter. After studying the Vedic literature from a scientific perspective it seems that structures, relationships and functions are being described that find parallels from the microscopic to the macroscopic. In many cases these are not limited by time or place. They are fundamental processes or laws of nature which are eternally being played out in the Cosmos and in our human physiology right down to its finest scales. Moreover they are living processes which have personality and an evolutionary history which are described and named in the Vedic literature.

There are two views of life on offer. In one the universe is composed of essentially lifeless matter governed by sets of formal equations which miraculously and inexplicably come together to create consciousness whose character, as we all experience, is entirely different from matter. A paradox that has completely eluded scientific explanation. In the other, the laws of nature are beings of mythic stature with apparently miraculous cosmic powers who create and maintain the universe and everything in it at every time and distance scale.

Are these two views compatible? During the next few months we will be publishing more articles where we will discuss how physiological and genetic processes are bound together within the structure of universal consciousness described by Sankhya which are further illustrated in the acts and characters of living beings described in the Ramayana. The theme is body and mind—one reality with two sides, objective and subjective. This mind/body duality is actually very familiar to us. It is the substance of our everyday ordinary experience. It is not strange to suppose that the world around us is equally alive, far more strange to think it is inert. The Vedic literature forms a road map for the evolution of consciousness leading to the rediscovery of the ultimate Unity of life. As the Taittiriya Upanisahd says “Out of bliss, all beings are born, in bliss they are sustained, and to bliss they go and merge again.” A road we are all following in our daily search for lasting happiness.

On June 5 a paper was published by the prestigious journal Cell entitled “Replaying germinal center evolution on a quantified affinity landscape“. It describes how a specific type of stem cell operating in germinal centres (GCs) tackle the process of generating and selecting appropriate antibodies that are suited to tackle novel pathogens. According to the paper, which is couched in terminology that is unfamiliar and therefore inaccessible to the casual lay reader, germinal centres rapidly generate a large number of antibody types through random hyper genetic mutation and then monitor the multiplicity of types to ‘select’ those that have the greatest ‘affinity’ or specific ability to recognise and bind to an invading pathogen.

The study leads the authors to conclude that this natural process is not as efficient as it could be (???). Our germinal centres (GCs) miss a great many antibodies with high affinity due to what the authors describe as limitations of the GC’s own genetic make up. However, because a very large number of mutations of differing types are being continuously generated by GCs, these limitations are bypassed through the continuing repetition of mutational processes over time. This yields the very high success rate of our immune system in generating appropriate responses to disease.

Through genetic modification the authors produced around 100 identical B cells operating in the GCs of 24 mice. The mice were then injected with a pathogen in order to stimulate a race to produce an efficient immune response. The study followed the GC production in the mice of a total of 17,500 antibodies of great variety over a 20 day period. GC production sequences involved both bursts of large numbers of similar B cell types and highly mutated branched topological evolutionary B cell lineages. These sequences and types were scanned to evaluate the evolutionary outcomes over time. The study found that identically engineered GCs do not produce the same sequences of antibodies. The authors propose this is best described as a random Darwinian evolutionary process, whereby the fittest genetic mutations are suited (or in evolutionary language selected) to survive.

Based on their research, the authors constructed a quantified model of cellular ‘deep mutational scanning’ (DMS) which they believe may be used to develop new antibody medicines and vaccines. They propose this may allow the design of effective immune responses which in the natural course of events might have been discarded or overlooked by natural cell-based immune processes. In other words, through the application of computer or AI based DMS models, the prolific antibody production of genetically modified GCs might be rapidly and accurately predicted to reveal novel medicines and vaccines paired to specific diseases, which can then be produced in a laboratory through genetic modification.

There is a subtext in this paper, laboratory experiments aimed at developing vaccines and antibody medicines which initiate and analyse random genetic mutations on a large scale are OK because that is essentially an entirely natural process. What could possibly go wrong?

Darwin and the perspective of biophysics

The conception and import of the word ‘random’ as used in this study appears to be deficient. The process of B cell generation being investigated is described as a ‘local’ process. In other words, cells are regarded as autonomous entities whose internal processes can be treated as stand alone events which culminate in a specific outcome, in much the same way as we think of the spin of a roulette wheel. Hence the appeal to Darwin, but does this stand up to scrutiny? Are the findings of the study a killer argument to settle any debate about the existence of a designed universe or God, or are they merely being interpreted superficially?

Our readers will realise that the appeal to Darwinian evolution is generally interpreted as a win for an atheist perspective. Darwin himself famously lost his faith as a result of his discoveries. Prof. Richard Dawkins will be visiting NZ in November to speak on his particular view of the world—the belief that the universe and our human body are standalone systems that leave little room for spiritual or theistic notions.

Dawkins goes to great lengths to find scientific arguments that he believes render any belief in God unscientific. Delving into his understanding of the genetic code—DNA, in his book The Greatest Show on Earth Dawkins presents one argument for atheism based on invariance.

“Just as the vertebrate skeleton is invariant across all vertebrates…so the DNA code is invariant across all living creatures while the genes themselves vary….which shows more clearly than anything else that all living creatures are descended from a single ancestor.”

In other words, Dawkins believes that a single random event or sequence of events led to the accidental creation of life. Realising that proponents of both a Godless world and creationists will each interpret invariance as evidence for their ideas. Dawkins offers the additional idea that evolution is a strictly ‘local’ process:

“Embryology is all done by local rules, at various levels, but especially the level of the single cell. No choreographer. No conductor of the orchestra. No central planning. No architect. In the field of development, or manufacture, the equivalent of this kind of programming is self-assembly.”

Dawkins, feeling the obvious lack of actual examples of processes that are not in practice designed, goes on to draw an analogy between embryology and an imagined but clearly non-existent art of self-folding origami. Immediately Dawkins places his interpretation of evolutionary theory in direct conflict with physics. If there is one thing we know for certain from the highly verified results of Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity, reality is non-local and must involve a holistic consciousness. To a physicist, the argument that evolution is entirely local is immediately suspect, the pervasive reality of fields, the emergence of local laws from universal laws is fundamental to modern physics.

However it is not necessary to appeal to the physical unity of life to overturn Dawkins’ arguments based on locality and the invariance of genetic code. There is another sense in which modern genetics has begun to overturn locality and also change our understanding of the genetic code.

Let us resort to the popular applications of genetic testing to illustrate this. For a few dollars, DNA testing companies will analyse your saliva and give you a breakdown of your ethnic make-up. Test results could identify the father’s ancestry as English 48%, Celtic 25%, Scandinavian 22%, and Jewish 5%. The mother’s results could be Celtic 58%, Scandinavian 38%, and Italian 4%. The daughter’s however could be Scandinavian 50%, Celtic 32%, Spanish 14%, Italian 2%, Jewish 1%, Nigerian 1%. Any child’s DNA is 50% made up of bits of the mother’s and 50% of the father’s DNA, yet in our example the father and mother have no Spanish and Nigerian, and the daughter has no English unlike the father. That’s impossible right? Something must have gone wrong.

Almost everyone who has had genetic tests becomes puzzled by similar results, so much so that many people feel genetic testing is commercial hocus-pocus. In reality, DNA test interpretation is a highly scientific process. Companies like Ancestry and MyHeritage have access to huge databases of genetic information extending to tens of millions of people. To sell their products in a competitive market they have had to refine their research methodologies and analysis. Have they got it right? Yes, largely they have. The rearrangement of genes throws up novel characteristics. The answer to this puzzle lies in understanding that the genetic code is in fact non-linear and non-local. Contrary to the popular conception that the genetic code is written in a linear sequence as a book is; in fact, the spatially separate (and therefore non-local) arrangement of genetic information within the spiral helix is crucial to the way an individual’s DNA expresses itself. The DNA molecule has non-local field-like properties.

The universe is non-local

Evolutionary processes are imagined to be the result of a huge number of local interactions, but are they? Is there a model that would describe the same apparently local processes but with a captain at the helm? Yes, and the idea is found in many cultural traditions. Ancient Vedic science for example proposes that an omnipresent value of Wholeness guides evolution. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who expressed a modern day re-evaluation of Vedic wisdom as a science, discusses the value of Wholeness with reference to Natural Law. Natural Law always has two values—holistic and specific. For example the growth of a crystal structure can be likened to the process of completing a jigsaw. Pieces must not only fit together, but also the local or specific interlocking process must conform to a global or holistic picture.

Just as Dawkins describes evolution, crystal growth was formerly understood as a purely local or ‘on-site’ process where a limited number of shapes can only be joined in specific ways, these repeated patterns then generate the exterior crystal shape; but in 1974 physicist Roger Penrose discovered a pseudo five-fold symmetry which was later found in an aluminium-manganese crystal alloy. This crystal has a non-repeating pattern which can only grow if the local pieces have a knowledge of a complex global structure as in the jigsaw. The specific rules governing the behaviour and orientation of incoming atomic groups in the crystal formation process have to be non-local or holistic. Penrose has since formulated a notion of space-time in which each local region has encoded or enfolded some aspect of a more general order. Quantum physics indicates that such non-local or holistic laws are fundamental to physical reality.

Maharishi draws upon his Vedic Science to discuss these holistic and specific values as silence and dynamism. He explains their coexistence is universal in Nature from cycles of rest and activity to the need for a quiet level of administration to guide a dynamic organisation. On a more abstract level, in particle theory the global symmetry represented in the gauge field guarantees the uniform dynamical behaviour of local symmetry groups, but itself remains uninvolved (silent value) in the dynamic physical processes. Gauge fields adjust the whole universe to maintain symmetry when localised changes occur. They coordinate everything, ensuring unbroken symmetry and consistency. In general, the coexistence of dynamism and silence within a unified Wholeness is a cornerstone of consistent unified field theories of physics. Hence the notion that evolution is purely local is untenable.

Our human body is an enterprise on an unimaginable scale whose full potential is cosmic.

We have 37 trillion cells that are mysteriously linked together to form a single individual. Every germinal centre gives rise to countless B cells over a lifetime, eventually producing a total pool of about 300 billion mature B cells. However, one B cell can multiply into thousands of identical plasma cells, (white blood cells) each of which produce a staggering 2,000 antibodies per second. Therefore our daily existence and continued health is predicated upon the birth of more than a quadrillion new immune cell workers every second. Enough to put any man made economic system to shame. Our human life is continuing as if on the surface of a vast physiological autonomic universe.

As we have discussed in our legacy Substack articles The Sacred Cell and Conscious Genes and The Structure of Consciousness the autonomic operation of our nervous system is connected with the self-referral unified level of consciousness. Every part of our body is awake and connected to the wholeness of consciousness. Consciousness is the glue of the body that holds our 37 trillion cells together as an individual, just as universal consciousness is the glue of the universe.

As the most extended interpretation of measurement theory shows, nothing material manifests from the virtual multidimensional Hilbert space without an observer. Moreover it is not only reasonable, but in the absence of arguments to the contrary, necessary to regard quantum entanglement as a fundamental property of the universe. Since the beginning of time (if there was one) the sequence of events has been threading everything together into a network of mutual relationships which are the indicators of wholeness. In religious terms, although we may not have seen God, we have seen the signs of his existence—the hand of God; and we can aspire to know God more fully. As Psalm 19 says “The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

Vedic Science expresses the growth of experiences of wholeness in human awareness in a sequence of verses known as the Brahma Sutras—short expressions of totality. One foundational expression (1.4) contrasts the specific with the universal saying Tat Tu Samanvayat—Truth is the weaving together of evenness. In other words, the whole universe operates by virtue of connectedness. This is the missing element in our understanding of genetics, life is not random in its essence, it is connected into the wholeness of universal consciousness which is eternally balanced and omnipresent. Some know this as God and others sense the intelligence that guides the universe. This is the final truth of existence which can be fully known in the deepest most awake experience of self-referral consciousness, whereby individual consciousness is realised as universal consciousness.

An article was published by Quanta Magazine on June 18 entitled “Why the Human Genome’s Tangled Physicality May Confound AI”. In our article today we are going to unpack the implications and draw a fresh analogy to aid our understanding.

Dr. Wendy Bickmore is a genomic researcher at the University of Edinburgh and former president of the Genetics Society. She has been investigating how DNA sequences are folded into chromosomes. In each cell, humans have about 2 metres of DNA but the width of a cell is at least 10,000 times smaller than the width of your forefinger. The cell nucleus containing the DNA is 10 times smaller again. It turns out that the way our DNA is folded into this nanoscopic nuclear space modifies how it functions. Bickmore has found that it is not just the information encoded in the DNA that determines how DNA functions but also how it exists physically and dynamically in space-time. “We’ve stopped thinking about the genome as a linear piece of DNA code,” Bickmore said. “Thinking about this incredibly dynamic three-dimensional folding as absolutely inherent to regulation is a very exciting change.”

When DNA is folded to fit into the nucleus, with the help of some proteins called histones, it is known as Chromatin. Chromatin is organised into compartments which have a 3D topological structure which regulates genes into groups which function together and can be turned off and on. Cohesin is a circular protein which shuffles chromatin into groups, but this is not a static arrangement, a dynamic process involving cohesin constantly rearranges chromatin in and between groups affecting the expression and function of DNA.

Shape is not the only factor at play, small epigenetic (literally from outside the genome) marker molecules alter configurations of electrical charge which rejigs how chromatin is packaged which in turn changes the meaning and function of the DNA script. How and when these markers get added or changed remains a mystery, but clearly the DNA sequences are not stand alone strands of information.

When DNA is transcripted it forms mRNA (a messenger molecule), once this happens, there is still a great deal of regulation which occurs. This is carried out by microRNAs and spliceosomes which function in groups and undertake multiple roles including modifying, splicing, reorganising, editing, degrading and/or silencing mRNA. MicroRNA and spliceosomes are on the spot to decide if the mRNA is really needed to carry out a function in the context of what is going on and needed in real time. In other words, there are adaptive and responsive processes which naturally edit the instructions of the DNA.

These regulatory processes occur in the mechanical, vibratory, chemical, electromagnetic and aqueous environment of the cell which each play a vital role. Moreover these are hugely influenced by diet, environment, microbiome, behaviours, environment and crucially consciousness. All told, these processes show that the genome is not an automatic process like a computer code running in the background to keep us alive, growing and healthy. Cells are making autonomous decisions about how to use and modify not just the information in the DNA but also the shape and structure it assumes and crucially factors that lie outside of the genome.

American computer scientist Douglas Hofstadter has described the genomic system as a recursive, self-referential system—it acts on itself, mindful of its own history. The information system that guides cells is spread out further and further from the DNA itself. Moreover, it is not strictly an information system, it is a decision-making system. It does not predictably generate the same outcome in every situation. It can think for itself. At this point it is clear that the cellular system does not work like a computer system. The Quanta article concludes that closed algorithm AI systems will not be able to reproduce the intelligence that guides the cell which operates under an open self-referral system. There is no human technology that works in this way except the whole human physiology itself. As Harvard geneticist Karen Adelman summarised the new understanding: “the genome isn’t static, it’s living.”

This concept is an extension of self-organisation long recognised as a key component of cellular biology which occurs in non-equilibrium or dissipative living structures. This was previously believed to result from the collective interactions of individual cell components. The new findings show it is impossible for geneticists to pinpoint any one system, set of rules, place or sequence which governs life. Instead they point to an abstract cellular intelligence. The cellular genomic system takes decisions in an abstract space extended over space and time. This is the hallmark of consciousness. The fact that our consciousness can instantly feel a pinprick at any point in the body demonstrates that it too exists in an extended abstract space. You cannot pinpoint consciousness to a space.

So what is the new analogy for the genome? We don’t have to look very far from home. A government is bound by a constitution and time honoured practice, but itself constantly creates new laws. It has departments which often function autonomously over an extended space and time. It responds to its population just as the genomic system responds to the vast physiological organisation of organ systems, perceptions, behaviours, foods, environment, etc. and crucially states of consciousness. Every government functions under a head of state, the head of state of the genome is not just individual consciousness but above that universal consciousness—the home of all the laws of nature, as we have discussed in our recent Substack articles The Sacred Cell and Conscious Genes and The Structure of Consciousness and our Hatchard Report article “The Hand of God: A philosophical, spiritual and scientific critique of the direction of biotechnology research“.

This article is not just a review of the findings of recent biological research, but it is also a warning that we need to update our understanding of life and control unfettered biotechnology experimentation on the genome and the food chain. A study published on 22 June in Nature Medicine is entitled “Biological aging and generational shifts in early-onset cancer risk“. It reports a study of 154,000 young adults in the UK which found that their cells are ageing faster than those of their parents’ generation, exposing them to increased risk of cancer.

This shows that the stability and adaptability of our extended genomic and immune system is coming under increased stress for multiple reasons. We live in an extended biofield. This ranges from food systems to environmental and cultural influences. We have entered a period of rapid change, novel technology is changing every level of our existence from the microscopic world of genetic systems to the macroscopic biosphere and everything in between. This has proved to be an assault on the foundation of life. Most at risk is the health of the growing generation who readily adopt new norms of food and behaviour which exposes them to a polluted environment, including the electromagnetic, chemical, social and intellectual environments. It is our responsibility to educate the next generation, the future leaders of society, to understand the dangers of structural changes to naturally ordered systems. Biotechnology and genetic engineering can’t be our future. Education systems should range from natural unadulterated food options to lifestyle options to cleaner environments and the self-management of choice. This is our best defence.

In our article “The Sacred Cell and Conscious Genes“ we discuss how this same 3-in-1 structure is found in every living cell, comprising nucleus, cytoplasm and membrane in one whole cell. At the scale of the cell, quantum mechanical effects take over which reveal the foot print of consciousness. The functional essence of cellular life can only be understood in terms of the quantum fields which underpin the deceptively solid four dimensional world that we experience through our senses. Fundamental physical experiment and theory demonstrate that these quantum fields necessarily involve the conscious observer—our Self.

Echoing the Vedic Literature, quantum cosmology theorises that primordial interactions between the observer and observed give rise to an expanding horizon of impressions and relationships which in turn give rise to the perception of a tangible space-time whose material expression involves a dense quantum entanglement. In the Vedic Literature these entanglements are referred to as the result of Karma or action. From this perspective, the world around us is a condensation of universal consciousness. The whole universe is a living system in which organisms engage in observations, decisions and interactions which in turn create further impressions and relationships. These multiply and build up into phylogenetic trees during an evolutionary process. Just as the colourless sap of actual trees and plants pervades the whole tree, so the essence of phylogenetic trees is consciousness itself.

The picture of the universe which arises is one of complete integration within the oneness of universal consciousness. Everything happens within the embrace of universal consciousness or BEING. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s phrase “all is well and wisely put” sums up this total integration. Nothing is out of place because nothing lies outside of the oneness of BEING.

At every level of the material creation, individual consciousness assumes forms and experiences in different lifetimes, like a bird flitting from branch to branch of a tree. Recent research has found that living cells maintain a complete molecular ‘memory’ of their embryonic origins which can under certain circumstances be switched on to aid physiological regeneration. Professor Shivdasni, author of the Harvard study, explained that over the course of embryonic and fetal development, as cells evolve to take on the specific characteristics of the hundreds of types of adult tissues, cells “are constantly making choices about what kind of cell they will become,” based on their earlier development. But it doesn’t stop there, the science of epigenetics suggests we pass on to our offspring and descendants not just responses to illness and trauma – but also feelings like trust and compassion too. The UK Guardian summarises recent research findings:

“Complex traits such as temperament, longevity, resilience to mental ill-health and even ideological leanings are all, to some extent, “hardwired”. Environment matters too for these qualities, of course. Our education and life experiences interact with genetic factors to create a fantastically complex matrix of influence.”

In other words, ‘what goes before’ is tremendously important in shaping our our responses to today’s experiences. In the Vedic Literature this is known as Smriti or memory. We are subject to a matrix of genetic memory which was ultimately all created by conscious decisions taken throughout the infinite evolutionary past. As if life is a long dream that we need to wake from.

An analogy will help understand the relationship between the cell and consciousness in its simplest terms. Universal consciousness is like an ocean, unlimited in extent. Individual life is a wave on the ocean. Prana is like the internal currents or self interactions of the ocean. Karma is like the wind which blows the surface of the ocean. All the waves are connected to the ocean and actually made from the ocean. Our cellular genetic structure, which supports the expression of universal consciousness in individual life, contains a memory (Smriti) of our past actions (Karma).

As we wrote in our Hatchard Report article The Fall of the House of Biotechnology, genes can be likened to piano keys which require a pianist to play them. Our genes have to do with expression and action, whereas universal consciousness is field of infinite silence. This is not the dull silence of sleep however, but a field of pure potentiality, fully awake BEING. It is our inner BEING which like the pianist ultimately creates and guides genetic processes formed through the innumerable perceptions, decisions and actions of history.

Quantum genetic fields

Our 37 trillion cells have a special property, they all naturally connect together to support the expression of a field of individual consciousness—the self. Our awareness is not limited to one point in space, it registers even the tiniest pin prick anywhere in our body. A collaborative research program I participated in shows that this property of intimate cellular connectedness or coherence is not limited to the individual physiology, it supports levels of collective consciousness—family, community, city, nation and world.

In the course of travels you become aware that each city has a different feeling—compare the energy and edgy feeling of New York with the laid back ambiance of Los Angeles. When you arrive in a city you notice the difference immediately and begin to act differently. This illustrates the effect of the fields of collective consciousness. The individuals in a city create the collective consciousness and are in turn influenced by it. Climate and geography also play a role. Unhappy, unhealthy, stressed individuals will produce tension in the collective consciousness of a family, city, or nation which will in turn negatively affect all the members of the group. Conversely positive individual traits are reflected in collective consciousness. We have discussed this in our article “The Long Read: What is a Human Biofield?“ and offered evidence of a field modulated by genetic characteristics shared by populations.

My earliest research on this effect shattered once and for all any feeling of individual helplessness in the face of the vagaries of the external world. Riding in a boat on Lake Lucerne in January 1975, the saintly man who introduced me to meditation, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, reflected on the result of a scientific study which he predicted could open a window to a new age. In four small college towns in the US, when 1% (one in a hundred) of the population learned meditation, crime fell abruptly. Being a scientist, I was keen to test this idea for myself. I returned to Cleveland Ohio where in 1971 I had helped to set up a centre for meditation instruction. Over the intervening four years thousands of people had come to learn meditation.

In the ensuing months I worked to complete a research project whilst I was living in an apartment at the back of Bordonaro’s supermarket on Shaker Boulevard. I had gathered data and analysed crime rates in suburban Cleveland which has a population of about three million. On completing the analysis of crime statistics by suburb using FBI data, I found a highly statistically significant correlation between reductions in crime rate by suburb and percentage of people practicing meditation—more meditators more crime reduction. This finding was the culmination of a detailed analysis which included interviews with police to verify the authenticity of crime reporting procedures. I published the results in a paper entitled “Influence of the Transcendental Meditation program on crime rate in suburban Cleveland” which documented reduced crime rate in suburban Cleveland during 1974 to 1976. This became the subject of a documentary film called Ideal Society in Greater Cleveland. Newspapers reported reductions of up to 70% in violent crime in areas of the city where one per cent of the population practiced Transcendental Meditation.

The results were nothing less that a personal revelation. I realised that the material world in which I had thought I lived, where a myriad of interacting influences gave rise to a semblance of solidity and incremental progress, was actually a world of consciousness. That afternoon, I walked out of the back of my building into the parking lot. It was a sunny day and the lot was surrounded by trees. A light breeze blew the leaves around and I saw that that the real world was a flow of consciousness, and that is my consciousness. In the world of consciousness where I now lived, that wind became the flow of awareness pulsing through every living and material thing. The wind blowing through life was a wave of consciousness pervading and constituting all things, and that was my own SELF.

Highly sophisticated and significant mathematical verification of these effects in different places became the subject of papers I have completed and published, which in turn became a major focus of my PhD Thesis. These are explained in accessible lay terms in my book Your DNA Diet. The effect sizes are large and the statistical certainties huge, at a level rarely seen in the social sciences. I have not been alone in investigating and testing this effect. To date there have been 55 papers published in 24 peer review journals and 38 in research anthologies. More than 60 scientists have collaborated to complete this research. As you can imagine there has been a great deal of scepticism, but the results speak for themselves.

Crucially, when you look at the results of these studies, there is a curious asymmetry in the magnitude and extent of effect sizes. In localities or cities where the population has been relatively settled for generations and hence share historic genetic characteristics and ties, the effect sizes of reduced crime etc. through meditation participation are more concentrated in the local area as happened in Merseyside.

Where populations are more mobile and genetically diverse, effect sizes are spread over a wider population and geographic area such as happened in USA for example. In both cases the statistical significance of the relationship between meditation participation and reduced problems is very high. This indicates that the field effects of meditation are modulated by shared genetic characteristics. More research is needed to investigate this, but the existence of genetic fields is an intriguing possibility. The collective effect of meditation offers great hope to the world and highlights the need to incorporate meditation as an educational practice, as it has been honoured in many civilisations and cultures in the historical past.

Systematic investigation of consciousness

In this article we have begun to understand the universal character of consciousness as the 3-in-1 structure of knower, process of knowing and known shared by all life forms. Any worthwhile investigation of consciousness does not merely involve intellectual consideration, but requires a fusion of subjective personal experience, the objective scientific method and historical wisdom. Crucially, any valid scientific understanding of consciousness must include the experience of the least excited state of consciousness through practice of meditation itself, along with research into the record of experiences of higher consciousness available in cultural historical literature.

There is a big picture here, the universe is awake. It has a living presence. Anything that is alive has a form, a name, a function and dare we say it, a personality. Think of the playful character of the wind, the warmth of sunshine, the hunger of fire, the rich smell of freshly turned soil, the restless sea, the roar of thunder and the soft touch of snow. Many have felt their plants asking to be watered or offering fruit to be picked.

These are all qualities we associate with the moods of consciousness. In contrast, the last 400 years of modern science has introduced us to a dull lifeless conception of reality. That needs to change. From a scientific perspective a house is just a collection of lifeless building materials, but it becomes a home which cherishes its occupants and is loved in return. The house is more that the sum of its parts, building a house awakens life in materials. The door to the living world lies through the experience of consciousness itself which sees behind the veil of merely material existence.

Rik Ved is an ancient record of seers who recognised the operation of the laws of nature in their own consciousness. This was written down as series of precise verses. There is a verse (1.164.39) which says:

“Richo akshare parame vyoman

Yasmin deva adhivishve nisheduh

Yastanna veda kimricha karishyati

Ya ittadvidus ta ime samasate”

In English:

The laws of nature, the impulses of creative intelligence (devas) responsible for the whole manifest universe exist in the collapse of fullness (the kshara of ‘A’) in the transcendental field, the Self.

He whose awareness is not open to this field, what can the verses of the Veda accomplish for him? Those who know this level of reality are established in evenness, wholeness of life.

The Kshara of ‘A’ is the collapse of infinity to a point. This is precisely the mechanics of perception. Our awareness collapses to the point of attention. But for those that are not awake to their transcendent nature, the object of attention dominates and as if hides or over shadows the unbounded nature of consciousness. The process of transcending allows finer and finer aspects of the object attention to be experienced and then transcended, leaving the meditator fully awake in self-referral consciousness. With daily practice over time the unbounded blissful nature of consciousness becomes a permanent experience that is never lost in the object of experience. Thus this Rik Ved verse records the mechanics of research in consciousness.

Conclusion

The self-interactions of universal consciousness give rise to the physical universe. The structure of the whole cell, including its nuclear DNA, enables the expression of universal consciousness as individual consciousness. It also supports the capacity of individual consciousness to connect with universal consciousness through the experience of transcending which is recognised in many ancient traditions around the world. In this relationship, the individual self is a reflection of the 3-in-1 structure of universal consciousness, the togetherness of knower, process of knowing and known. The individual is as if a hologram of universal consciousness. In religious terms ‘man is created in God’s image’, or from the secular view ‘as is the macrocosm so is the microcosm’. We have had a glimpse into the densely integrated or unified nature of life which enables self-referral experience and contact with the universal. The experience of self-referral consciousness should be a fit and proper study of education. It will bring fulfilment to the purpose of education to enliven the basis of intelligence.

There is also a cautionary tale here; referencing to our previous posts at Substack and at the Hatchard Report which explain how genetic manipulation can disrupt this fundamental holistic integration of life including human life. Genetic sequences support the expression of consciousness. We can’t know the entire effect of editing genetic sequences or making new sequences. These can create effects which lie outside the integrated nature of life. They can disrupt our connection with the universal .

Abstract:

Like most neurophilosophers, I have always operated on the assumption

that the human brain is the organ in which qualia (conscious sensations

and perceptions) occur and bodily movements are caused. Everything I know

about the neurophysiology of the brain suggests that the 4-D

electromagnetic patterns measurably generated in the relevant areas of the

brain simply ARE sensory consciousness. However, I am now forced to admit

to myself that continued belief in this assumption requires wilful neglect of

several findings and one new fact.

The present paper puts forward two hypotheses.

1. Given that as far as we know the electromagnetic field as a whole (as

distinct from various local “EM fields” generated by local events) exists

throughout the universe, the EM patterns comprising an individual human

consciousness do exist in the brain, but may also exist in a region of space-

time surrounding the skull.

2. In some individuals, intellectual activity may routinely happen not in the

brain, but in this extra-bodily region.

IntroductionThere is good evidence that under normal circumstances, basic sensations

are generated when certain areas of the brain are active during the return of

activity from the rest of the brain to the secondary neural areas dealing with

that kind of sensation (e.g. Pockett 2023). Bodily movements are also

generated in the brain (e.g. Pockett 2017). However, two arguments for the

idea that the brain is NOT the organ of the mind have recently become

popular.

Wilder Penfield and Brain Stimulation

The one most often quoted originated from Wilder Penfield, a neurosurgeon

working in the first half of the 20th Century. The two foundations for his

arguments were:

1. Despite hundreds of thousands of stimulations of patients’ brains

under neurosurgery to see which bits produced the seizures

manifested during the patient’s epileptic fits (so that he could excise

those bits and prevent further seizures, Penfield was never able to

stimulate the intellect: no one ever did calculus as a result of his

brain stimulation. When people have seizures caused by problems in

the brain, all sorts of body movements occur, but there are no

intellectual seizures. No one ever had a seizure during which they

couldn’t stop doing maths.

2. Though Penfield could stimulate people to move their arms etc, the

patients always knew it was him doing it. He was never able to

stimulate the will. He could not make them believe that they were the

cause of the movement he stimulated.

These arguments have always failed to convince me. First, most people

NEVER do calculus. They don’t know how and they don’t see any reason to

learn. And secondly, Penfield never tried very convincingly to make his

patients think that they might have willed or caused the movements he

stimulated. The experiments described in the Introduction to the MIT Press

book Does Consciousness Cause Behaviour? suggest that people can and do

distinguish quite easily between movements they cause and movements

caused by stimulation of the brain in the experiments of Daniel Wegner

(Pockett, Banks and Gallagher 2006).

So Penfield’s arguments in my opinion hold no water.

Near Death Experiences

A more convincing argument for the proposal that the brain is not the organ

of the mind is the phenomenon known as the near death experience (NDE).

This surprisingly common experience — YouTube supplies a plethora of

videos discussing the phenomenon as it has happened to hundreds of people

— is epitomised by Pam Reynolds Lowry’s case (Van Lommel et al 2001,

Hagen 2018). In 1991, neurosurgeon Robert Spetzler at the Barrow

Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona performed a procedure known as

deep hypothalamic circulatory arrest on Pam in order to excise a particularly

dangerous aneurysm near her brain stem. This procedure involved lowering

her body temperature to 10°C, stopping her breathing and heartbeat and

draining the blood from her head. Her eyes were closed with tape. Small ear

plugs containing speakers emitting audible clicks were placed in her earsbefore the operation proceeded, to ensure that the EEG was flat, indicating a

non-responsive brain. The total surgery lasted about seven hours, after

which the patient recovered completely.

She later reported that during the operation she had heard a sound like a ‘D’

natural (she was a musician) which seemed to pull her out of her body and

allowed her to float above the operating room and watch the doctors perform

the operation. Reynolds said that during this time she felt “more aware than

normal” and her vision was more focused and clearer than normal. She

reported seeing the surgical “saw” and said it looked like an electric

toothbrush (which it did). She said she could hear conversations between

operating room staff and apparently reported the conversations more or less

accurately (although I could not ascertain how veridical that observation

was).

At some point during the operation, she noticed a presence and was pulled

towards a light. She began to discern figures in the light, including her

grandmother, an uncle, other deceased relatives and people unknown to her.

According to Reynolds, the longer she was there, the more she enjoyed it,

but at some point she was reminded that she had to go back. She said her

uncle brought her back to her body. She did not want to go, but he pushed

her in, which felt like jumping into ice water.

Now, it is possible that all these “memories” could have been generated by

Lowry’s brain after it recovered and then “remembered” much as dreams are

sometimes remembered. The only point that can not be explained on this

scenario is the accuracy of the conversations reported as being heard during

brain death. But that accuracy is not well documented and could be

debated. So in the past, I have tended to regard the dream explanation as

adequate to explain the phenomenon of the NDE.

What changed my mind?

I guess the real reason I have changed my conviction that the brain is the

only organ of the mind is that I have recently become so sensitive to 5G

radiation that I am completely unable to function normally near a 5G cell

phone tower. I can still perform over-learned actions like driving near a

tower — indeed I probably drive more safely than normal, because I can’t

think about anything other than what I’m doing at the moment, so devote

my entire concentration to driving the car. But I simply cannot THINK about

anything even slightly complex near a 5G tower. It’s a very unpleasant

sensation. I can’t remember words. I can’t manipulate any abstract concept.

I can’t THINK. Fortunately the syndrome goes away as soon as I get out of

range of the 5G tower. But it later returns in any room flooded with WiFi

radiation. This is why I live in a house sheltered from cell tower radiation by

hills, completely devoid of WiFi, and — unless a neighbour turns on their 5G

phone so that the radiation it emits (which is stronger than usual in a direct

line between the phone and the nearest streetlight-top emitter/receiver)

reaches me through glass windows — I feel perfectly compos mentis inside

my own house.

This syndrome did exist for me to some extent but was much less

bothersome when 3G and 4G radiation was the carrier of cell phone

messages. But since the frequency has been raised to 5G and the 3G/4G

network turned off (purely so that everyone has to buy a new 5G cell phone,

to the financial benefit of Big Telco) it has become increasingly irksome.Visitors to my house know to leave their cellphones in the car, because I can

always tell when they don’t. I literally feel the repeated bursts of radiation

emitted by a phone hidden in a pocket or bag. When the visitor and their

phone leave, the radiation can’t get out of the house (because the internal

walls are lined with quite ordinary building material that includes a sheet of

metal underneath the internal wall lining), so that the radiation tends to

continue fluttering around for a little while time after the phone is gone,

until it exits through the windows.

We are confidently assured by Big Telco that 5G frequencies are quite safe

because they do not penetrate more than a few mm into solid matter (like

skulls). If this is true, I infer that the thinking part of my mind (which, as

mentioned, doesn’t work near a 5G tower) must exist outside my skull.

In fact, of course, 5G radiation does penetrate quite far into any matter that

contains a significant amount of water, for reasons explained on page 15 of

bit.ly/electrosmogPockett. But even though neither window glass (nor

skulls)? contain water, at least window glass is thin enough for 5G radiation

to penetrate it quite easily, as measured by a hand-held Cornet Microsystem

Inc S/N:1807002683 Electrosmog Meter.

However, all that being said, the existence of the thinking part of

consciousness outside the skull would certainly explain why it is impossible

for me to THINK near a 5G cell tower. It would not explain NDEs, but

perhaps the dream scenario is a better explanation there.

And if one believes the replacement of humans by the cloned critters trope,

(why cloning humans would be deemed desirable I am not sure) complete

destruction of the ability of a to-be-cloned person to THINK would be a good

start.

Is the ubiquity of 5G radiation why autism has become so prevalent in

children?

According to the American Psychiatric Association 2022, autism spectrum

disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability characterised by difficulties with

social interaction or communication and the presence of restricted interests

or repetitive behaviours. ASD is recognised as a heterogeneous condition

with wide variation in the type and severity of signs and symptoms.

Shaw et al (2025) report that the prevalence of ASD among children aged 8

was higher in 2022 than in previous years. ASD prevalence was higher

among Asian or Pacific Island, Black, and Hispanic 8 year olds than White 8

year olds and 3.4 times more prevalent in boys than girls. Identification by

age 48 months was higher among children born in 2018 compared with

children born in 2014. Could these statistics be explained by increasing

exposure to cell phone radiation over that period? Possibly.

There is evidence that exposing male mice to extremely low frequency

radiation at birth increases autism related behaviours (Alsaeed et al 2014),

indicating that radiation per se increases autism in mice.

But there is also evidence that exposure to earlier versions of cell phone

radiation increases the prevalence of autism in human children (Alrahili et al

2021).Thus the inescapability of 5G radiation (particularly in low-rent

neighbourhoods) and the relative thinness of children’s skulls (Alrahili et al

2021) may well explain the notable rise of autism in children throughout the

world.

Does some change in the radiation released by 5G towers explain my sudden

catastrophic inability to think at all near such towers? I can’t tell, because

the telecommunications industry refuses to tell us when they even make any

changes to the radiation emitted by such towers, let alone what those

changes are. In fact, page 15 of bit.ly/electrosmogPockett reveals that

nothing we’re told by Big Telco can be believed, and that what they actually

do changes at their pleasure, without any notification at all.

So basically, until Big Telco can be controlled, there would seem to be no

real possibility of scientifically determining the nature or location of

individual human conscious cognition. However, as shown by past events,

Big Telco will never be controlled as long as all of our national governments

are themselves controlled by the Globalist New World Order, which consists

of the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, the World Health

Organisation, the global military-industrial complex and various other

governmental/industrial organisations like Chatham House in England. I

see no way around this — unless some of the off-world aliens who have

apparently been hanging around planet Earth for some millennia now were

to step in and clean up our nice little blue-green world for us. Unfortunately

others of the alien kind are apparently trying to depopulate our nice little

blue-green planet so that they can take it over. Life is never simple.

This is a diagram of a cell which we typically see in biology text books.

It is an idealised image and a far cry from an actual cell. It shows how scientific investigation has uncovered key structures in the cytoplasm, known as organelles, which carry out various functions as the concentrated intelligence in the DNA is translated into task-designated bio-molecules. Some of these tasks involve specific immune mechanisms which fight off pathogens or repair structures, including our DNA, tens of millions of times a day in each cell. Other biomolecules eventually exit via the protecting cellular membrane where they communicate with the wider physiological network of cells and maintain the functions of the body. The membrane is a two way street, since nourishment and information also enter into the cell through the membrane.

Even more simplified cellular diagrams were used by Moderna and Pfizer to explain to a naive public the supposed action of mRNA vaccines.

This diagram for example stripped away any suggestion of the complex structure of the cytoplasm. mRNA vaccines were designed to penetrate the protective membrane of billions of cells and insert active genetic material into the cytoplasm where it hijacked cellular processes and repurposed them to produce a version of the Covid spike protein. In other words, mRNA vaccines were telling our immune system to reverse its role, instead of fighting off pathogens, it starts to produce them. Exactly the opposite of its normal function. In the simplified picture presented by mRNA vaccine inventors and producers, this process would be rapidly reversed and the immune system would then know how to fight off the coronavirus. We now know it didn’t work like this. mRNA Covid vaccines did not confer immunity against Covid infection and perhaps worse still, some cells continue to produce pathogenic toxic spike proteins more or less permanently. What did biotechnology get so wrong?

Real human cell images

Actual cells look quite different from the pictures in textbooks and glossy biotech PR promotion. Here is an image of a cross section of a human lymphocyte white blood cell captured using a transmission electron microscope (TEM).

The large dark area is the nucleus of the cell containing our DNA. The genetic material in the nucleus is directing the billions of functions taking place in the cell body, known as the cytoplasm. The complexity of even a single cell is immediately apparent. This actual cell image appears like a vast ancient walled city crisscrossed by narrow alleyways with a mixture of small and large buildings, parks and lakes, all with a huge variety of shapes. From a brief glance it is possible to imagine that there would be a capacity for things to go wrong, for multiple functional elements to be disrupted, if genetically active foreign material is introduced into this complex cellular system, as is the case with mRNA vaccines.

This TEM cell image is approximately 10,000nm (nanometres) across. To give you an idea of scale, a human hair is approximately 100,000nm wide (ten times larger). A single atom is around 0.1nm (100,000 times smaller than the pictured cell). TEM images are enhanced using computer modelling and AI image generation, so how real is this cell image? To answer this question we have to refer to quantum mechanics.

Quantum mechanical effects in cells

At scales of 100nm, quantum effects become important which blur the possible resolution of imaging, analogous to spectacles being out of focus. At 10nm quantum effects begin to dominate. Any blurring in the TEM imaging is not due solely to the limitations of the measuring equipment. This is a fundamental property of matter which becomes evident at small time and distance scales. In other words, at 100nm we have reached the boundary between the classical world of solid objects or particles (imagined to be like billiard balls) and quantum mechanical objects which have wave like properties described by the mathematics of a virtual infinite-dimensional space of evolving possibilities known as a Hilbert space.

Popular explanations offered by biotechnology are stuck in a classical framework, pretending that genetic systems act like solid mechanical lock and key devices. Multiple image enhancement techniques are used to ‘resolve’ quantum blurring. They are actually ‘dissolving’ quantum effects, and replacing reality with an imagined classical solidity. This only serves to reinforce a gross simplification, leaving a strictly classical idea of the cell which is not just misleading, at cellular scales this picture is false.

There are eight modes or pathways of intracellular interactions which we have outlined in our article Twenty Reasons to Completely Reject Biotechnology Experimentation. These include genetic transcription and regulation, molecular shape and vibration, electromagnetic fields and electric currents, water soluble and chemical properties. Now add quantum tunnelling to these. At the cellular nano scale, quantum tunnelling allows reactions involving high energy barriers to proceed even if classical rules would prohibit them. This is analogous to passing through a solid wall into the next door room.

Also add quantum entanglement wherein the quantum state of each particle in a group cannot be described independently of the state of the others, even when the particles are separated by a distance. This allows systems to be paired and more or less instantly affect one another even if they are a distance apart. Therefore at nano cellular scales, a whole-system integration becomes the norm, instead of the classical view of distinct separate entities interacting with each other which has dominated the biotechnology enterprise since the discovery of the genetic alphabet. In other words, we know from a quantum perspective that a unified structure or WHOLENESS of life begins to be evident at the cellular level underpinned by coherent quantum field properties.

Crucially, at cellular nano scales, quantum measurement theory also comes into play. The observer is inextricably linked with physical reality. Who is the observer of the cell?—Our awareness, which instantly feels even the slightest disturbance of a pin prick anywhere in the body. The cell is awake. Its physical structures and functions are linked with our awareness. The cell has physical existence and an abstract counterpart, a duality that mirrors the mind-body interface. This duality of consciousness and physiology is wrapped up with the quantum mechanical properties which come into play at the tiny nano scale of the cell.

Quantum cosmology and the cell

Now move to even finer time and distance scales. The nucleus of an atom is 0.000001nm wide, 100 billion times smaller that the human cell. At this scale we are at the edge of the most fundamental physical laws which govern not just the cell but the universe as a whole. To grasp the unified reality beyond the nucleus we need non-abelian mathematics which describes the creation of space-time and matter from within UNITY itself. The fundamental unity of the creation is self-referral, it does not need anything outside of itself to create. It knows itself, just as we can know ourself.

Thus quantum cosmology touches upon the interplay between observer, observed, and observer-observed relationship which is the familiar structure of our everyday experience of the world around us (observed) through the senses (process of observation) onto the screen of the mind (observer). This familiar integrated 3 in 1 structure of our experience is supported by our physiology which in turn is supported by our vast cellular network of 37 trillion human cells. Now you can appreciate the integration of the macroscopic world of the human body and our experiences with the microscopic basis of the cell. As is the microcosm, so is the macrocosm.

Quantum cosmology begins to describe how consciousness turns itself into matter, which it describes as the self interactions of observer and observed, in terms of ‘Information gathering and utilising systems’. These self-interactions of the eternally silent UNITY of life are described by the Wheeler-DeWitt equation as completely independent of time and before space (pre-geometry). The self-interactions give rise to a continuously evolving sequence of states of the object of observation, which can be conceptually conceived as the increasing radius of an observable universe.

This process can be thought of as analogous to the creation of a 3D computer animation from a sequence of high frequencies (self-interactions) in the central computer processing chip. The picture appears to be real, but it is a virtual reality only. Thus the reality of the universe is described in quantum cosmology as a conceptual reality only—the sequence of states gives rise to the notion of time and extension in space. It creates the impression of a universe which evolves and changes in time. Thus, while the picture of the universe developed by quantum mechanics, quantum cosmology, and unified field theories is one of non-locality—infinite correlation and unbroken WHOLENESS, in the process of so-called ‘conditional observations’, the timeless infinite dynamism of the unity of life is ‘neglected’ or reduced in favour of sequentially evolving, isolated aspects of the dynamism, to such an extent that the impression of an independent objective universe arises.

In layman’s terms, this abstract concept of quantum cosmology can be understood if you imagine the sequence of imaginary events in the mind of someone who believes they may have won the lottery. The plans that they develop to spend the money have both an extension in space and a sequence in an imaginary time. In an advanced stage of such fantasies, the would-be winner may come to believe in the reality of his make-believe world to such an extent that he is afraid of losing his non-existent winnings!

Now look at the cellular image again. This appears to be a classical snapshot of cell components, but from a more fundamental quantum mechanical perspective behind this picture is a complete subtle reality—a WHOLE awake system managing LIFE from the level of universal consciousness, the essence of BEING AWAKE. A wave of intelligence in motion, flowing in the abstract virtual space of pure awareness that contains the holistic organising power inherent in the laws of nature. The cell has a capacity to support the expression of universal consciousness in individual life.

What would a health system look like that takes account of the holistic nature of the cell?

Ayurveda—literally the science of longevity—is the ancient health science of India still widely taught and practiced today. Ayurveda begins with consciousness, which we have seen is the holistic source of the cell and the backdrop of its quantum nature. Ayurveda describes the fundamental source of all disease as a loss of connection with the level of universal consciousness. This is known as “the mistake of the intellect”. By analysing the fundamental physical structure of the cell from the standpoint of quantum mechanics we can now see just how important this Ayurvedic principle is.

Ayurveda recommends meditation practices and breathing exercises to reconnect the physical surface level of life with the underlying order inherent in universal consciousness. Ayurvedic literature documents the preparation and action of thousands of healing herbs which through the digestive process directly support the capacity of the cell and the whole physiology to connect with its basis. Ayurveda also utilises the power of sound and light (both aspects of vibration), but its main approach to health is through consciousness itself which is the gateway to the healthy functioning of the cell and the whole physiology.

Vedic literature and the cell

All biological life begins with a single cell. The very first cell contains our ancestry, the seed of our capacity for emotion, thought and happiness. Our cells contain our immunity, our memories—everything we are. Life begins with the capacity to tap into the cosmic WHOLENESS, but we have to learn how to utilise this. The extensive Vedic Literature is focused on just this understanding. Dr Tony Nader MD PhD has written a book Human Physiology—Expression of Veda and the Vedic Literature which lays out in great detail a structural and functional correspondence between the forty branches of the Vedic Literature and the organs and systems of human physiology. A remarkable achievement compiled under the supervision of Indian sage Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

It is notable that the early pioneers of quantum mechanics including Erwin Schrödinger, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg and Robert Oppenheimer drew inspiration from Vedic texts including the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita. Similarly, the father of relativity Albert Einstein, electricity genius Nikola Tesla and cosmologist Carl Sagan admired the Veda (which literally translates as ‘knowledge’). The epitaph on Schrödinger’s tombstone reads “So all Being is one and only Being; And that it continues to be when someone dies tells you that he did not cease to BE.” In his autobiography he wrote “This life of yours which you are living is not merely a piece of this entire existence, but in a certain sense the WHOLE”.

You may feel that quantum mechanics and the Vedic Literature might be philosophically inaccessible to the average person, but here the insight of the seers of the Vedic literature comes into play. In the Vedic tradition, understanding and experience go together. There are simple personal practices of meditation for the individual that set up the experience of unity. For universal access to understanding, there is a branch of the Vedic Literature known as Itihasa. This contains what amounts to an illustrated version of the Vedic literature and principles.

The Ramayana and the cell

The Ramayana is a principle text of Itihasa. A great and noble king has three brothers. The king (Raam) is the WHOLENESS of consciousness and he rules a city (Ayodhya) which is the whole cell. One brother (Lakshman) whom the King trusts most closely has a snake as his emblem. He is the DNA and the nucleus. Just as the DNA is never inactive, he never sleeps as he protects the life of the king. The next brother (Bharata) has a fiery discus as his sigil, he is the cytoplasm (cell body) and administers the kingdom just as the cytoplasm administers the physiology. The third brother (Shatrughna) holds a conch and protects the borders of the realm, he is the cellular membrane, his conch symbolises a mouth to relay the messages leaving the cell and absorb the nourishment coming in. It is also an ear to listen and an opening for material to leave the cell. The four brothers are very close and harmonious. From the most fundamental perspective they are four aspects of one unified reality.

The wife of the king (Sita) who was born of the earth is the embodiment of the laws of nature—Mother Nature, which symbolises the partnership between the physical laws of nature and undivided consciousness. The chief servant of the king, a monkey, (Hanuman) holds a club or gada in his hand which is shaped like the brain and the spinal column. He symbolises the close cooperation between the mind, the nervous system and universal consciousness. A monkey moves easily among the forest trees which is like the surface of the cortex. Hanuman can take any shape and go anywhere in an instant just as the mind can fly on the wings of imagination. The turning point in the story of the king comes when Hanuman and Raam meet for the first time which illustrates the central role that meditation plays in the restoration of full health. The drama of the Ramayana unfolds as the story proceeds, a close examination of the text undertaken by Tony Nader MD PhD in his book Ramayan and Human Physiology shows how the epic story mirrors the structure and functions of the entire physiology in great detail. It is both a text of human health and an illustrated guide to the evolution of individual consciousness as we reach for universal consciousness.

Here you see how LIFE appears from the perspective of consciousness, rather than the purely material objective outlook of modern science. Our body is a living system. Its continuous operation is a story of living characters and characteristics. Our body has a purpose which is the rise and protection of self-referral consciousness. The height of Vedic realisation is contained in four short expressions known as Mahāvākyas or great sayings which express the culmination of the evolutionary process in a state of enlightened consciousness. Each of these sayings is found in one of the four principle Vedas. Among these is Aham Brahmasmi (from Shukla Yajur Veda): “I am the totality”. It signifies that the individual self (Atman) is inherently identical with the Totality (Brahman). This shows how the seers of the timeless Vedic knowledge understood the relationship between matter and consciousness.

The Vedas have been misunderstood as the myths of a religion, but they actually explain the fundamentals of the physical world, the physiology and their interaction with consciousness. This should not seem strange to those who feel the living presence of the land, plants and animals around us. The wakefulness of the universe was understood by the early scientists of quantum mechanics. Werner Heisenberg famously said during a conversation with Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore “Quantum theory will not look ridiculous to people who have read Vedanta.”

What are the take away messages for daily life?

The Veda contains sequences of primordial sounds which have beneficial specific effects when heard or used in meditation. They particularly benefit the parts of the physiology to which the sounds correspond. Translations into languages other than the original Vedic Sanskrit lack these effects. You can sample these sounds by listening to this video containing the beginning passages of each of the forty branches of the Veda and Vedic Literature along with an indication of their relationship to physiology.

The Vedic Literature is a collection of source documents which can reorientate the direction of science and technology towards technologies of consciousness. Technologies of consciousness such as transcendental meditation can be self-managed, they do not require equipment. They do not constitute a religious belief, they are technologies to develop understanding from within. Vedic practices are traditionally taught through personal instruction, not from books. Once learned over a few days, you are self-sufficient for meditation practice at home.

Implications for biotechnology

Historically, modern science sought to exclude consciousness from consideration. Physicists came to realise through experiment and theory that the observer cannot be excluded, it must lie at the heart of any coherent formulation of physics. Incredibly, the biotechnology enterprise has pretended that their theories can be formulated untroubled by the ubiquitous presence of awareness which is the defining characteristic of living organisms. As a result, mistakes and mistaken ideas about life have entered the process of science and invaded the popular imagination. That needs to be corrected. The Veda inspired understanding of quantum mechanics, its texts can inspire a much needed fundamental understanding of living systems.

There is a documentary currently airing on Netflix called Radioactive Emergency, it documents what happened in a Brazilian city in 1987 when a scrap metal dealer inadvertently opened up a container of caesium 137 powder which had been forgotten in a disused medical facility. What stands out is the lack of understanding of the extent of the risk on the part of the local health authorities. They had little knowledge of nuclear physics or the health effects of radioactive poisoning. They had no idea about how easily it might be spread and how long lasting the effects would be.

Fast forward to 2020 and on to the present day, misconceptions about genetic engineering and biotechnology are all tied to a highly simplified classical picture of the structure and function of DNA being sold to the public. Consciousness has been excluded from this picture. How the cell supports consciousness is unknown to biotechnology. When active genetic sequences penetrate the cell membrane, they can disrupt the holistic integrated arrangements that are evident in the cell body.

From the perspective of the Veda the cell is sacred ground and our genes are conscious. As a result of misunderstanding about the centrality of consciousness, the public narratives of the biotech industry are promising miracles but delivering unspecified risks. These place our connection with universal consciousness at risk, the very thing that defines the highest values of human life. The abstract multidimensional, multitasking nature of the cell, functioning simultaneously at multiple time and distance scales, is kept out of the public dialogue. The fact that our cells are networked together to support our identity, our state of mind and our health through pathways that are both concrete and virtual is absent from the so-called popular science.

No wonder that our health authorities found themselves struggling to accept or believe in adverse post mRNA vaccination outcomes including heart disease, neurological damage, cancer and mental illness. Like the authorities in Brazil in 1987, they don’t have the knowledge base to appreciate cellular complexity, its connection to consciousness and the risks of genetic interventions. It doesn’t stop there, Covid is most likely a genetically engineered virus specifically designed to efficiently invade cells. Our World in Data estimates 30 million excess deaths worldwide during the pandemic. More people than died in World War One. The finger of blame is pointing to the risks of genetic engineering, whether we are vaccinated or unvaccinated. A little knowledge is dangerous thing. Biotechnology is a step too far, however you see consciousness.

It asked some questions about the mandating of two doses of mRNA Covid vaccinations for teenagers when there was a known risk of developing myocarditis, but minimal risk of harm from Covid infection. Myocarditis safety signals were first documented in mid 2021 in Israel and elsewhere. The Commission found that our government was advised of risks but failed to inform the public. The Commission should have proceeded to closely examine the published scientific evidence of harm and its prevalence. It did not require Health NZ to quantify the extent of the problem among younger age groups in NZ. It is past time to address this breach of public trust which not only put young people at risk but did extensive harm to their health. It is also time to review the so-called science behind the false ‘safe and effective’ assurances.

Covid mRNA vaccines cause cardiac harm to youth

I am using the present tense here because myocarditis causes long term adverse effects on cardiac health. The answers the public deserve are evident in scientific literature on the Covid pandemic and they give great cause for alarm.

In August 2022 we reported a paper which appeared in the Journal of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease entitled “Cardiovascular Manifestation of the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine in Adolescents”. This paper employed a powerful prospective methodology. It asked the questions prior to vaccination and then tested the participants for harm after vaccination. It enrolled 300 students aged 13-18 years and recorded symptoms, vital signs, ECG, echocardiography, and cardiac enzymes at baseline, Day 3, Day 7, and Day 14 after Pfizer mRNA vaccination. The most common cardiovascular signs and symptoms found were tachycardia (7.64%), shortness of breath (6.64%), palpitation (4.32%), chest pain (4.32%), and hypertension (3.99%). Cardiovascular manifestations were found in 29.24% (91) students, ranging from tachycardia or palpitations to myopericarditis. Myopericarditis was confirmed in one patient after vaccination. Two patients had suspected pericarditis and four patients had suspected subclinical myocarditis.

There are approximately 350,000 teenagers in this age group in NZ. As of March 2022, 92% (322,000) of them had received two doses of mRNA Covid vaccine. Based on the figures from the above study, if they were repeated at a large scale, as many as 93,000 Kiwi teenagers may have experienced some form of detectable cardiac disturbance within two weeks of vaccination. Approximately 7,000 may have developed some symptoms of clinical or subclinical myopericarditis, which might have been detected had Health NZ been appropriately monitoring cardiac outcomes.

What happened in New Zealand?

On December 15 2021 Astrid Koorneeff Director National Immunisation Programme wrote to the Hatchard Report on behalf of Dr. Ashley Bloomfield. Incredibly, she said:

“An accurate measurement of all adverse events [subsequent to vaccination] is not required”.

On the same day, 15 December 2021, Dr. Ashley Bloomfield Director General of Health wrote to the directors of District Health Boards (DHBs) (but not to the public) advising:

“Myocarditis and pericarditis have been established as very rare but serious adverse events associated with the Comirnaty [Pfizer mRNA] vaccine….these conditions are usually diagnosed, investigated and managed effectively within our health system….In New Zealand, the true incidence of vaccine-associated myocarditis is unknown as the onset of symptoms occurs in the first few days after vaccination and is potentially under-reported. However, the overall rate of this event in New Zealand is reported to be around 3 per 100,000 vaccinations.”

3 per 100,000 amounts to just 10 cases among teenagers in the whole of NZ. In other words, despite the knowledge that myocarditis was probably being under reported, hospitals and doctors were given the false impression that myocarditis after Covid mRNA vaccination was vanishingly rare. Health NZ apparently concluded it was not worth testing for. Instead, young people complaining of chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitation and tachycardia in large numbers were routinely advised that the symptoms were likely due to anxiety, despite the fact that Health NZ had been warned of the risk of myocarditis. Almost all were sent home without treatment or further investigation. There was virtually no testing for elevated troponin, the established marker of heart muscle injury. Some were simply advised to take ibuprofen.

The concerns we and many others raised at the time were not based on conspiracy theories, speculation or isolated anecdotal reports. They were based on the published results of carefully designed independent scientific studies and publicly available health data. Clearly serious mistakes were made due to incompetence, disregard of safety and an irrational faith in the word ‘vaccine’. A word with deceptive associations of orthodoxy and safety that had been misapplied to a novel biotechnology intervention. An approach which had received a minimum of testing, whose exact long term outcomes were unknown, but suspected by some to be adverse based on prior gene therapy outcomes. What is truly extraordinary is the fact that the fiction of safety has been maintained up to this day by Health NZ, the government, the media and the medical council in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. mRNA boosters are still advertised as essential.

Our beating heart is at the core of our health.

In 2023 a paper was published in the British Journal of Pharmacology entitled “Cardiac side effects of RNA-based SARS-CoV-2 vaccines: Hidden cardiotoxic effects of mRNA-1273 and BNT162b2 on ventricular myocyte function and structure”. This study investigated the effect of Moderna mRNA-1273 and Pfizer BNT162b2 Covid vaccines on the function, structure, and viability of isolated adult rat cardiomyocytes over a 72 h period. Cardiomyocytes are the specialised, involuntary muscle cells of the heart responsible for generating the contractile force needed to pump blood throughout the body. It found the function of these vital cells was adversely affected by exposure to Covid mRNA vaccines. The authors concluded:

“This demonstrated for the first time, that in isolated cardiomyocytes, both mRNA-1273 and BNT162b2 induce specific dysfunctions that correlate pathophysiologically to cardiomyopathy…which may significantly increase the risk of acute cardiac events.”

You can view a short video of affected cells at this link (please be warned some might find this video disturbing). Normal untreated heart cells beat in a smooth, regular, rhythmic way (like a calm, steady heartbeat).

After 48–72 hours of exposure to the mRNA vaccine (which makes the cells produce spike protein):

Moderna (mRNA-1273) → cells start beating very erratically, jerkily, irregularly, or chaotically (like a heart that’s “fibrillating” or out of sync). This happens because the calcium release system inside the cell (controlled by something called the ryanodine receptor / RyR2) gets messed up.

Pfizer (BNT162b2) → cells initially beat too strongly / too fast (over-activated by something called PKA), but over time this overstimulation appears harmful and can weaken function.

This study was conducted in vitro (out of the body) on rat heart cells. These were not human cells. The authors have now followed up with a study of human cells published in February 2026 in Frontiers in Immunology entitled “mRNA-based SARS-CoV-2 vaccines: intracellular processing and aggregation of the encoded spike protein as a mechanistic contributor to cardiac cellular stress”. The study investigated the function and breakdown of the mRNA encoded spike proteins in cultured human cardiac cells in vitro known as AC16 cardiomyocytes. Instead of breaking down and disappearing as the trusting public had been told would happen, within a few hours of exposure, covalently bonded high-molecular complexes formed from both the spike proteins and their subunits. The arrangement of these complexes always adhered to a consistent pattern. In AC16 cardiomyocytes, the various spike protein derivatives impaired not only cell proliferation, but also induced a pro-inflammatory response and oxidative stress. In other words, the attempt of the cell to clean up the invading spike protein resulted in the creation of structures which impaired its ability to function as a beating heart cell and regenerate itself. Other studies show these effects can last for years.

A heart cell beats as a result of complex factors.

The separation of scientific investigation into distinct disciplines has given us the false impression that nature itself has separate and distinct parts. Whereas natural laws uncovered by different disciplines actually function as an holistic system. At smaller time and distance scales nature becomes more unified and integrated. We tend to regard cell components as distinct classical objects similar to billiard balls, but at the scale of the cell, abstract field and quantum mechanical properties begin to play a significant role. Molecular structures are continuously integrated with these abstract underlying laws. The expressed and abstract levels of nature’s intelligence function together as a whole cellular system

Within the cell there are mechanical systems with resonant modes which depend on the physical characteristics of the cytoskeleton and its component parts. The mechanical structures involved and their resonant frequencies will be altered by the addition of high-molecular complexes of unusual shape, like those uncovered by the paper cited above. There are chemical, biochemical and genetic chains of events, these too will be disrupted by the presence of genetically-active, introduced mRNA molecules. The cell is largely water and there will be wave-like movements associated with the beat of the heart cell which will be impeded. At the tiny time and distance scale of the cell there are electrical currents, electromagnetic and quantum fields which underlie and actually create the cooperative characteristics of molecular structures. Following the introduction of mRNA vaccines, these fields have to operate in a foreign cellular landscape which will trigger unanticipated outcomes.

Finer still, the heart is an instrument which responds to experiences and states of consciousness. It beats faster when faced with fear. It responds to the needs of a baby. It falls in love. It feels pain. It registers humour. All these are real, as we have all experienced for ourselves. This is not imagination or non-science. Aside from being our personal experience, multiple studies demonstrate that the heart is closely connected with the brain and with mental health. Deeper still consistent theories of physics cannot be formulated without considering the role of consciousness, not just as an observer, but an instigator of physical events.

Like the introduction of a computer virus, mRNA sequences contain instructions which instigate rogue actions within the cell. The regular beating of our heart cells upon which our life depends, the pulse of life, can be mixed up by a genetically active mRNA sequence, whose effect is genomic dysregulation.

Time for action

Having read this summary of what we know and what we have known or suspected about mRNA injections for several years, you must conclude how fundamentally wrong it is to continue to recommend mRNA Covid vaccines as ‘safe and effective’ for the public. They are designed to bypass the cell membrane and enter the cytoplasm where they interfere with the very fundamentals of life itself. The implications of this report are crying out for action to pause and eventually ban their use. Incredibly, the extent of cardiac harm among the wider public remains not just uninvestigated, but there is every indication that this is a deliberate strategy to avoid exposure and blame. A cynical strategy that has left thousands of vaccine injured in NZ and millions around the world without compensation or adequate treatment. The Hatchard Report has already reported in 2024 an analysis of official mortality data for young people in NZ which shows a 188% increase in mortality following Covid vaccination in 2021/22. Testing for the biomarkers of cardiac disease should be free to access, especially for younger age groups. To assess the full extent of Covid vaccine injury, Health NZ needs to use its data records to assess the health outcomes of the Covid mRNA vaccinated when compared to those of the unvaccinated. This should cover a broad range of conditions including heart health, immunity, neurological illness, mental health and cancer.

Alarm bells should be ringing. Immediate action should be initiated. The scanty but deeply alarming information on myocarditis among young people publicised by the Royal Commission is a wake up call. It is time for NZ to roll up its sleeves and get to work to rectify past and present wrongs in the health service. There are some hard facts to face, some big mistakes to rectify and some apologies to make; like this one in the Herald from Heather du Plessis-Allan. Too little, too late, but very welcome all the same. Better late than never, lives young and old are at stake. It is time to stop persecuting doctors and others here in NZ and overseas who raised the alarm early on. Last week the UK Telegraph published an eloquent scientific defence from a leading cardiologist which everyone should read entitled “I blew the whistle on Covid jabs five years ago. Now, I’m fighting for my medical licence”. Sadly the NZ media has so far passed on the opportunity to republish it. It is time to change the song sheet and face the music.

In the modern context, biotechnologies pose unique threats. The global Covid pandemic contains lessons which need to be thoroughly understood and assessed. At this time, the extent of what went wrong can be analysed with the benefit of hindsight and published research.

Genetic technologies cannot be contained

Genetic sequences are highly mobile, they contain potent organising power which can initiate and control physiological processes in completely novel ways that can be dangerous for health. Genetic information is widely shared through a number of natural pathways—via air borne pathogens, gut processes, food chains, etc.

Genetic technologies are designed to bypass natural protective barriers

Our DNA operates within a highly regulated complex cellular network. This usually ensures that only processes beneficial to an organism are allowed to proceed. Gene editing and editing of intra cellular processes bypasses these protective mechanisms. There is the potential to initiate rogue self-sustaining chains of events. The merging of nanotechnologies with genetic technologies has enhanced this potential.

Biotechnology has successfully opposed any attempts at regulation

Biotech experimentation is running at fever pitch around the world. Many of these experiments are fraught with risk, such as the gain of function research that was taking place at Wuhan (and still is there and elsewhere). The biotech lobby has sought to manipulate public opinion and government attitudes. It has been successful at this because it has deliberately projected misleading narratives that appeal to a broad range of views. It characterises biotechnology as:

• Morally Right: because it is only beneficial to health

• Safe: because it is precise and highly tested

• Evolutionary: because mutations drive evolutionary processes

• Economically Beneficial: because technology drives progress

A close look at pandemic outcomes reveals that none of these claims can be justified. Nor does the history of genetic research during the last 75 years since the discovery of DNA support these claims. Despite this, the deceptive justifications above are sufficiently persuasive to ensure that the biotechnology industry is by and large left to self-regulate its own actions.

The 30 million pandemic excess deaths estimated by Our World in Data should put paid to any suggestion that genetic engineering is either morally right or safe. Nor is it effective. mRNA vaccinations did not prevent transmission as they were hyped to do so.

We deal with the questionable evolutionary claims in our Substack article “Human Evolution, Genetics, Physics and Consciousness—Part One“. The risks are multiplied by the melding of A.I. and biotechnology which allows for thousands of exotic experiments unknown to natural processes to be automated and rapidly implemented. Recently Mrinank Sharma, who led Anthropic’s research safeguards team developing defences to A.I.-assisted bioterrorism, resigned, citing growing concern for world stability. Sharma said: “We appear to be approaching a threshold where our wisdom must grow in equal measure to our capacity to affect the world, lest we face the consequences.” See our article “The A.I. and Biotech alliance and how it will affect New Zealand“ to understand more.

The economic benefit is equally questionable. The economic downside of the pandemic is still with us. In fact, biotechnology implementation is generally not economically productive. The methods themselves are very costly (at two orders of magnitude greater than conventional pharmaceutical and surgical approaches) which puts an unsustainable strain on already stretched health service budgets. Gene therapy trials have typically had high rates of adverse effects, nor have they achieved high success rates. Their high cost ensures they are likely to reach few people. Moreover biotech commercial models require government approval and funding which uses rather than creates resources. Alternative preventive approaches to health are recognised for many disease types with high success rates which should be preferentially promoted.

In fact, there are a great many rogue operators spread throughout the biotechnology community prepared to ignore any rational assessment of risk. Including some defence services who are experimenting with biotechnology, not just in a defensive mode, but also for offensive purposes, flagrantly ignoring the inevitability of pathogen escape without the possibility of protection or containment.

Genetic technologies pose an existential threat to civilization

As we have extensively discussed at the HatchardReport.com, cells contain memories which control actions. These memories are associated with genetic sequences. Therefore in addition to underpinning our health, cells contain the established patterns of our modern societies including the preferential styles of relationships, thinking, perception, decision-making, emotions, ethics and governance. Any programme of universal genetic intervention such as happened during the pandemic, both with an apparently engineered virus and an engineered vaccine, can and will have unforeseen consequences. The biotechnology industry has become a powerful entity operating in the geopolitical space

It has become a tenet of regulatory environments that the safety or advisability of biotechnology cannot be questioned. For example the Royal Commission on Covid-19 in NZ wrote on 3rd February 2026 that it is not allowed to make any judgement about any of the following :

• Particular clinical decisions made by clinicians or public health authorities during the pandemic.

• How and when COVID-19 response measures were applied in individual cases.

• The operation of the general regulatory and approval system for vaccines other than the COVID-19 vaccine.

• The epidemiology of the COVID-19 virus.

Similar restrictions on questions of safety have been applied to regulatory and so-called investigative authorities reporting in countries around the world. These do not appear to be in the public interest. They stand in the way of understanding. Such prohibitions give excessive power to organisations and viewpoints which can be misapplied and abused.

Biotechnology theory and practice should have taken account of the wider landscape of scientific processes and standards. In fact, it has largely detached itself from the framework of more fundamental disciplines such as physics. This raises serious questions about the validity of some of its conclusions. Despite this, in the geopolitical space, some key operators with billion dollar resources, which dwarf the budgets of many states, are pushing research agendas fraught with risk that lie outside of any balanced scientific assessment of safety.

The effects of biotechnology interventions persist for years and cannot be recalled

We have begun a time when the five year risks of mRNA vaccination are becoming apparent. Rates of excess and sudden deaths are still elevated in nations which reached high vaccination coverage. A study published in February entitled “Unprecedented Persistence of Vaccine mRNA, Plasmid DNA, Spike Protein, and Genomic Dysregulation Over 3.5 Years Post-COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination” records the case of a 55 year old male whose physiology is still producing Covid Spike protein three and a half years after his last vaccination which is drastically affecting his health. This is not an isolated case. In another example, a press release provides links to papers reporting the structure of rubbery white clots linked to Covid vaccination which can threaten cardiovascular health over long periods. Evidence is mounting that genetic technologies employed during the pandemic increased susceptibility to cancer among working age people. Biotechnology research is a highly technical area. Very few politicians or even intelligence analysts will have sufficient scientific skills to grasp the take home conclusions of the latest research from an independent standpoint. Our letter today aims to highlight fundamental issues which your analysts may have missed or glossed over. Biotechnology alters the architecture of human life, therefore it will have devastating and unanticipated consequences. Intelligence services can inform governments of the risks. It can identify projects which are increasing that risk still further. It can expose unscientific claims based on PR designed to influence central government funding and legislative decisions.

Our government hopes to pass the Gene Technology Bill which contains provisions designed to reduce safeguards. This may expose us to predatory foreign operators wishing to carry out risky experiments in a closed island environment. The Bill fails to take account of the implications of known outcomes of the Covid pandemic and the risks we have outlined above. Intelligence services have eyes on the future, they can avert the danger that has not yet fully materialised but is already close upon us.

It incorporates principles of consciousness-based education (CBE). CBE includes traditional subjects while also cultivating the student’s potential from within. He has published papers in peer reviewed journals and was the keynote speaker at the 1996 annual conference of the British Psychological Society on Crime.

In essence, a great many improbable factors are imagined to come together to almost accidentally produce the highly integrated and complex genetic system which underpins all types of living organisms. This is often referred to as the mangrove of life because the genesis of DNA is supposed to have many chemical precursors or roots. This type of understanding is so deeply rooted in scientific mythology that its probability is rarely questioned.

There is a big question to ask here: Does one come from many or does many come from one? The mangrove analogy is somewhat deceptive. Plants generally germinate from a single seed. The roots are a system to draw in nourishment from diverse external sources in the soil, they are not the origin. DNA is not a stand alone molecule, it can only act in the complex cellular environment. The probability of a cellular structure occurring accidentally is as near close to zero as you can get. In any case, no one has developed a plausibly articulated idea of the intermediate steps that might allow a simple amino acid to become DNA.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding current origin of life theories, the idea that evolution is driven by random events and circumstances is used to justify extensive biotechnology experimentation and gene editing. This argument encourages a trial and error style of editing and excuses inevitable mistakes. The Covid pandemic should have taught us caution, nature is not always accommodating or tolerant of gene variants. Does the problem go even deeper than this? There are good reasons to suppose it does.

Explanations offered by fundamental physical theory offer a different explanatory framework. Physics involves the search for a single universal principle at the heart of cosmic law. At the core of unified field theories lies a self-referral principle that is reminiscent of self awareness or consciousness.

This appears more like a small seed branching out to a tree. When we think about it, creative processes often start with a single inspiration or goal. The cosmic unfoldment envisioned by physics is conceived as a process of symmetry breaking. It starts from unified perfection and diversifies from there. Physics is the process of rediscovering and defining that original perfection. So did biological life itself start from unified perfection?

How ancient is human DNA?

Advances in the study of ancient DNA point to a remarkable question—have humans always had a complete set of genetic tools? Leading Harvard geneticist David Reich in his book Who we are and how we got here concludes that the genes most associated with the use of tools and language acquisition have actually been part of the human genome for at least one million years and probably more than five million years. Other archeological discoveries have pointed to early examples of human intelligence at work including the mastery of fire now known to have occurred at least 350,000 years ago and probably far far longer, the use of tools 3.3 million years ago, and the existence of habitations up to 2 million years ago. Our knowledge of the longevity of civilization appears to be solely limited by the ravages of history ensuring the rarity of preserved evidence and the imperfections of archeological techniques.

If human species have had a full set of genetic tools for a very long time, human evolution can be seen as a personal journey rather than a process driven by random genetic mutations. In this concept, humans are learning how to fully utilise the genetic tools that nature has given them. From this perspective, evolution is the process of mastering the full potential of our entire physiological tool kit which is accomplished by the rise of higher consciousness.

A skilled tradesman needs a full set of tools. A tradesman and his tools are part of an integrated system, each needs the other to fully function, but when push comes to shove it is the ability of the tradesman that is primary, his tools are secondary. Taking this analogy one step further, remember that tools are created by human intelligence.

Throughout recorded history there have been accounts of individuals who rose above the crowd in so many different areas of human and spiritual endeavour. They enjoyed what are referred to in the modern context as peak experiences or being in the zone.

You can take a train from New York to San Francisco. Some people took that journey for the first time in 1869, you can still do so today. In the same way, some people are recorded as experiencing what could be referred to as the culmination of human enlightenment in antiquity, some others may be completing this journey in the modern era. Most of us are somewhere in between. This journey is solely a question of expansion of consciousness.

The complete expression of human potential relies on health in its fullest sense.

As we have argued elsewhere, our physiology is both an expression of consciousness and a means to express consciousness. Consciousness is primary and matter secondary. Our physiology is a tool of consciousness. However, if we become physically unwell or suffer a serious accident, we can find ourselves unable to express our full creativity. If a tradesman’s tools are not sharp and well adjusted, or they are inferior knock offs, or some are mislaid, his performance as an artisan will be impaired. No matter how knowledgeable or skilled, he will not be able to actualise his full potential. The genetic interventions being proposed and enacted by the global biotechnology industry threaten to overwhelm the delicate intimate relationship between physiology and consciousness. In fact the history of the pandemic demonstrates that this has already begun to happen.

During the pandemic, a special category of death was created and widely used here in NZ and elsewhere: “cause of death unknown”. If the use of biotechnology continues to proliferate, we might expect to see this become the leading cause of death—unknown. This is because bioscientists have reached the limits of human understanding and are now pushing into the unknown in the wrong direction. Our genetic system is an expression of consciousness not the cause of consciousness. Consciousness in its pure state experienced as higher consciousness is so infinitely balanced that our genetics are too, any attempt to improve upon human genetics from the side of our current limited scientific understanding is fraught with risk and likely to undermine our physiological stability, efficiency and immunity.

Gene therapy is a patchwork approach to our physiological system whose origins and foundation lie deeper in the field of self-referral consciousness. How our genetics support the expression of human consciousness is unknown. In other words, no one knows how we are able to express empathy, insight, morality, creativity, etc. These peculiarly human qualities may arise because of finely balanced synchrony in genetic networks involving trillions of elements. In other words they are reflections of that supersymmetry identified by physics as the origin of the universe.

Patching up genetic systems through gene therapies, gene editing, immune adjusting vaccines, etc. may damage the overall synchrony supporting the higher expressions of human enlightenment. In other words gene therapies may keep a system going but render it deficient. In 2012 a devout parishioner in Spain noticed that the condition of a fresco on the wall of her church had deteriorated. She was not a painter, but with good intentions she set about restoring it herself. The result was still recognisable as a face, but sadly it was no longer a masterpiece:)

Geneticists are planning to reconstruct human genetics, but they do not know how our genetic system enables us to be human. The dangers are obvious. The millions of casualties that accompanied the pandemic form a stark lesson in reality, but it is a lesson that appears to have fallen on deaf ears. As we have reported extensively for example in our recent article “Has the Age of Devolution Begun?”, the insanity of biotech experimentation is continuing and gaining pace. The risks are accumulating under the radar, unrecognised. Bob Dylan sang in A Hard Rain’s Going To Fall: “the executioner’s face is always well hidden.” It is not possible now to ignore the vast scale of growing risk. I am an optimist, but optimism does not mean shunning reality and hoping that all will come out right in the end. Action is necessary. As Bob Dylan urged in All Along the Watchtower: “Let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.”

The 2023 rate of new cancer registrations in NZ reached an all time record 29,719 new cancer registrations.

New Zealand Rate of New Cancers per 1,000 Population

In 2023 there were 5.69 cancers per 1,000 population compared to an average rate during 2015 to 2019 of 5.27. That is a 7.9% increased rate of cancer occurrence. There were 4509 more cancers in 2023 than the average for 2015-2019. This rise was not solely due to the effect of our ageing population. The cancer rate for 65+ remained constant, but new cancer registrations per 1000 population for the 45-64 working adult age range rose by 8% when compared to the pre-pandemic 2015-2019 average. This bucked a ten year pre-pandemic trend that held to a more or less constant rate.

The Health NZ data for new cancer registrations during 2023 by age, sex, cancer type and ethnicity from 2001 to 2023 can be downloaded using the Cancer Web Tool. Please note these figures are already two years behind, we don’t yet know what has happened in 2024 and 2025. 2024 figures are not expected from Health NZ until the end of 2026. There are many types of cancer associated with multiple risk factors and causes. Care should always be taken when interpreting any data.

Effect of an ageing population

There is another factor other than the rate per 1000 population that needs to be taken into account when comparing and interpreting cancer data. The conventional wisdom is that increases in rates of cancer incidence are primarily due to the effect of an aging population along with any modifications due to changes in risk factors. For example any significant increase in smoking rates is known to increase cancer incidence over the longer term. So the question is: ‘Was the 2023 increase in cancer due solely to the effect of a rising and ageing population?’ Have there been any increases in cancer risk factors modifying the data?

Overview of cancer incidence by age

NZ has an aging population. Around 60% of all cancers occur among people who are 65+ in age. Because susceptibility to cancer increases with age, there is an expectation that overall cancer rates will increase as the percentage of older people in the whole population increases over time. Cancer rates among the 65+ population remained more or less stable at 21 new cases per 1000 population in 2023, a rate that has been maintained over the last ten years. Between 2015-2019 the average percentage of the NZ population aged 65+ was 15% in 2023 the equivalent figure was 16.5%. There were an average of 14,962 cancer cases among the 64+ age group during 2015-2019. The equivalent figure for 2023 was 17,940, a rise of 2,978 cases which is insufficient to account for the 4,509 total increase. Thus an ageing population alone was insufficient to account for the record rise in 2023 new cancer registrations. In summary there were 1,531 new cancer cases in 2023 compared to the pre-pandemic rate which must have occurred due to reasons other than population ageing.

In order to assess the data and adjust for the effect of age, the Hatchard Report conducted an analysis of cancer registrations by age bracket to find out where the underlying rise in cancer rates was occurring.

We looked separately at age ranges 0-4, 5-24, 25-44, 45-64 and 65+.

Cancer rates among 45-64 year olds rose by 8% in 2023 compared to the 2015-2019 average.

Cancer rates among 25-44 year olds rose by 2%

Cancer rates among 5-24 year olds rose by 17% and by 11% for 0-4 year olds but the numbers of cases in these two age brackets are small (around 60-70 cases per year for 0-4 and 250-300 for 5-25 year olds) and volatile year to year ensuring these rises did not reach statistical significance.

The most notable finding is among mature working age people aged 45-64. There were 1,215 additional new cancers registered in this age group above the 2015-2019 average accounting for around 80% of the unexplained rise in total cancer cases. The rate of cancers in this age band, (7.45 cancers per 1000 population) was an historical high.

The rate of cancers in this age group had been relatively stable in the ten years prior to 2018 when there was a sudden spike in cancer registrations, which turned out to be an outlier resulting from a nationwide testing promotion rather than an significant rise in the underlying cancer rate.

2018 cancer registrations rose due to a cancer screening drive

Prostate is the most common cancer for men and breast for women. From 2015 to 2018 Health NZ instituted the NZ Cancer Plan which aimed to systematically increase cancer awareness and the availability of cancer screening programmes especially in regional centres which had been under serviced. One result of this intensive initiative was a dramatic rise in the number of early prostate diagnoses among mature men and a more modest spike in breast diagnoses which particularly contributed to a spike in cancer registrations in 2018 in the 45-64 age range. There were no similar new screening initiatives in 2023 for common cancers likely to significantly affect the registration totals. Therefore the 2018 spike in cancer registrations should be regarded as an outlier or anomaly, which makes the peak in 2018 significantly lower and the record 2023 cancer registrations all the more significant.

Were either Covid infection or Covid vaccination risk factors for cancer?

In effect, underlying cancer rates among mature working age adults appear to have been increasing significantly since the start of 2021 when the Covid vaccination program began. This indicates that mRNA Covid vaccination may be a new risk factor for cancer affecting the majority of the NZ population.

Health data from NZ is of particular scientific interest because more than 80% of the population were vaccinated with the Pfizer mRNA vaccine during 2021 before NZ suffered any Covid infection due to strict border control measures.

We have previously reported on a large population study from Korea, which found relatively higher cancer rates among the Covid vaccinated compared to the unvaccinated. Moreover, this was not an isolated finding, it syncs with interactions between Covid vaccination and cancer found in studies of Japanese pancreatic cancer survival rates and Italian health data. It is a matter of regret that Health NZ have so far made no visible effort to find out if Covid vaccination has been a risk factor for cancer development here in NZ. This is a serious issue affecting the well being of the whole of society, especially as Health NZ is still recommending many categories of people receive Covid booster shots.

What types of cancer increased?

In 2023 the largest increases among the whole population were in the incidence of breast, melanoma and prostate cancers. The incidence of lung cancer decreased. The 2023 Health NZ data does not distinguish what types of cancer particularly affected which age groups. The number of cancer deaths for 2023 is not yet published. Nor are any figures available for recurrence of cancers or speed of progression of cancers which overseas reports suggest have been significantly affected during the last four years (2022-2025).

2023 NZ cancer data is a red flag which needs immediate investigation

There are many factors which influence the incidence of cancer. The 2023 NZ data which has been released is unfortunately insufficient on its own to draw definitive causal connections. Moreover it is two years out of date. Cancers take time to develop.There are clearly new risk factors particularly affecting mature working age people in NZ, but Health NZ has not yet undertaken investigation to uncover what these factors might be.

The increase in cancer incidence in 2023 to record high rates for mature working age people and to an unknown extent among younger age groups is a red flag that requires more detailed investigation and more rapid compilation of data for 2024 and 2025.

Anecdotal reports we have received indicate that waiting lists to see an oncologist in NZ are becoming longer which makes it likely that the 2023 increases are continuing into 2024 and 2025. It is vital to find out as soon as possible if this is the case. Cancer is our number two killer in NZ, the investigation of the causes of the novel upward trend since 2021 demands up to date and comprehensive information. This investigation should include a comparison of cancer outcomes of vaccinated and unvaccinated populations. This should be an urgent public health imperative. To place consciousness in a theory of life we have employed a threefold criteria of investigation:

Scientific Approach — Personal Experience — Traditional Knowledge

Scientific Approach: In addition to the rigour of logic, number and the paramount importance of evidence, a scientific approach often employs an expectation that principles already known to science are likely to play a part in understanding the phenomenon of consciousness.

Personal Experience: Consciousness is our constant companion. Our keen observation of ourselves and our personal experience is prime evidence of the functioning principles of consciousness.

Traditional Knowledge: Cultural and philosophical knowledge that has stood the test of time or is well integrated with personal experience can be a rich source for modelling and understanding consciousness.

The current article is extending conclusions reached in our previous substack articles. In these we have found that agreement of all three of the above criteria is a good test of credibility.

Physics has uncovered universal laws which operate at every point in time and space, linking every material particle and force field into a single framework. Physical theory is formulated as a set of rules or laws governing all interactions, transformations and states of distinct entities and fields. Physical laws have well known and highly verified universal properties which find parallels with the functioning of consciousness which should directly affect our understanding of the role of genetics. These include:

Hierarchical structure

Physical law requires that macroscopic processes must be tied back to foundational structure at smaller time and distance scales right back to pre-geometry. Genetic theories lack this requirement, hence they are of necessity incomplete or isolated from fundamental principles. For example quantum cosmology describes the emergence of the universe itself as the result of the interplay between observer, observed, and crucially the observer-observed relationship, which can be quantified as interplay of conscious information gathering and utilising systems. Yet genetic principles lack an understanding of this foundational role of consciousness.

Paramount role of the observer.

Consistent theories of physics cannot be formulated without accounting for the effect of an observer. In our article “The modern age cannot be an age of biotechnology” we outlined six ways that consciousness enters into physical theory. We inferred that consciousness is primary and matter secondary. To support this, our three-fold criteria of knowledge could be invoked as follows:

• Consciousness plays a fundamental role in physical theory

• We personally experience that our decisions and thoughts initiate action

• Many traditional sophisticated philosophies, such as the Upanishads for example, recognise universal consciousness as the basis of existence.

Consciousness is largely dismissed by biology as an unexplained epiphenomenon, whose impact is ultimately merely contingent on genetics rather than causal. This bias is inconsistent with physical theory, personal experience and traditional understanding. It is also inconsistent with the known fact that mental states influence physiology and vice versa.

At a deeper level it is inconsistent with a study published in 2023 in Brain, Behavior, & Immunity entitled “Transcendental Meditation practitioners show reduced expression of the Conserved Transcriptional Response to Adversity“ which found that a TM group showed lower expression of a pre-specified set of CTRA indicator genes when compared to controls. The study confirms that mental practices such as transcendental meditation can alter genetic expression in specific and predictable ways. In other words the mind-body interface can be modulated from the side of consciousness.

Quantum principles

These include:

• Wave-Particle Duality whereby particles can behave as both waves and particles

• Superposition whereby a quantum system exists and evolves in multiple states simultaneously in an abstract probability space until measured when its wave function collapses to a specific state.

• Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle whereby pairs of properties like ‘momentum and position in space’ or ‘time and energy’, cannot be known with perfect accuracy.

Quantum principles have not found a place in genetics, yet it is certain that they must play an essential and critical role. Taken together, wave-particle duality and superposition provide a close fit with the intimate coexistence of our physiology and mental states. Thoughts evolve in an abstract space and find expression in actions and physiological function. Fear is accompanied by a racing heart, relaxation by high skin resistance, etc. The close relationship between mind and body is aptly described as two sides of one coin.

Taken together superposition and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle raise deeper questions, they shake any idea that solid material substance is the ultimate causal reality of existence. They point to a deeper abstract reality of life. The philosophy of Yoga explains that this deeper reality is a unified wholeness behind material substance. Ancient Yoga texts teach that physiology and material substance can be controlled by consciousness through a highly specified procedure known as sanyama which develops human abilities latent in the mind-body complex.

Energy states

Particles and fields described by physics have excited energy states or levels, they also have a ground state of least excitation, often referred to as a quantum vacuum. This fundamental concept does not find a parallel in genetics. Traditional descriptions found for example in the Bhagavad Gita outline states of consciousness. In particular the Gita identifies a least excited state of consciousness which is accessible to personal experience named atma (the Self). In our article “Part Two The Long Read: Twenty Reasons to Completely Reject Biotechnology Experimentation : Consciousness-Based Alternatives“, we reference multiple studies recording physiological parameters and greatly improved health outcomes across multiple conditions associated with experiences of a least excited state of consciousness. The effect sizes of these results are not minor, they dwarf the impact of many pharmaceutical approaches to specific conditions. They are free of adverse effects and beneficially impact a very broad range of conditions. This points to a formative role of consciousness in physiology, genetics and immunity.

Macroscopic quantum coherent states Under certain conditions microscopic particles or atoms can condense into the same lowest energy state and act as a single matter wave such as that found in superfluids and superconductors. These can exhibit properties which appear to defy classical restrictions on mobility like gravity and electrical resistance. Similarly, living organisms have a macroscopic identity with properties that go beyond those of their microscopic components.

The central void at the heart of genetics relates to the support of our 37 trillion cells for a single unique conscious identity. How this happens is largely unknown to genetics, but it is known that our immune system acts to preserve our unique personal genetic identity. For example the immune system works to reject transplanted organs and repair DNA damage. Yet gene editing of life forms is proceeding in the absence of any fundamental understanding of the risks to immunity and identity.

Conservation principles

Energy, linear momentum, angular momentum, lepton number, baryon number and electric charge are all conserved quantities. In physics, these quantities cannot suddenly disappear without a trace. Popular modern social and psychological ideas about human consciousness assume that thinking occurs in a private space separate from our genetic makeup, and that thoughts can dissolve without trace or consequences. The fact that thoughts have physical counterparts in our physiology, negates the misleading notion that isolated individuals are free to do whatever they want without reference to physical reality.

Reciprocity principles

Newton’s third law states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Interactions, and by implication thoughts, have consequences. Nothing occurs without subsequent ripple effects. Traditional ideas about karma (literally action) suggest a moral framework to human existence, a concept shared by most religions. The failure to link genetics with consciousness has led to value-free assessments of the viability, risks and consequences of genetic editing. The Covid pandemic is the best illustration. Our World in Data estimates thirty million excess deaths worldwide during the pandemic, yet there is little outcry about the likely biotech lab origin of Covid, the high rates of adverse effects of biotech Covid vaccines, or the question of responsibility or culpability.

Non-Locality

Quantum mechanics provides further evidence that actions have lasting consequences. It shows that physical reality is non-local. The evidence for non-locality is the existence of instantaneous effects from apparently local actions on distant systems. Entangled particles exhibit correlations that are stronger than any local realistic theory can explain. Multiple experiments have verified this to a very high degree of certainty. In essence, quantum entanglement shows that past interactions create enduring relationships whose effects and consequences can reappear in new locations in the future.

The physical complexity of large entangled systems is beyond our comprehension and the scope of current mathematical models. Einstein described quantum entanglement as ‘spooky action at a distance’. He thought it counter intuitive and doubted its reality. But reflect for a moment that the concept is not at all alien to our consciousness. We form relationships as a result of personal interactions and events that endure and have consequences in the future at different times and places. This is an entirely everyday reality that we easily inhabit. The Korean concept of in-yeon (인연) expresses the thought that this connection endures through lifetimes.

In contrast, biotechnology and genetics have been formulated as entirely local explanations of living systems reminiscent of incomplete classical solid state physics. Such a view is naive, entirely outdated and liable to be highly misleading.

Certainly, genetic fragments are highly mobile. They can transfer genetic information with other genetic systems, but does it go much further than that? Think for a moment about identity cards, if humans can easily set up systems of tracking locations, and events related to single individuals, can we seriously imagine that natural laws don’t do that?

Traditional philosophies of karma suggest that actions have consequences that track through time and place. This suggests a linked up reality employing principles of hierarchy, balance, conservation and entanglement known to physics. The philosophy of Yoga expounded in the Bhagavad Gita asserts that the links and restrictions created through past karma are inherently unfathomable (4:17) but can be dissolved in the grand unity of the ground state of consciousness referred to as the fire of knowledge (4:19).

This can be experienced by those who practice a form of transcendental meditation. Instead, unlocking greater order, health and happiness.

Physical fields

Matter types are divided into particles and fields. Research we discussed in our article “The Long Read: What is a Human Biofield“ strongly suggests that consciousness is a field phenomenon which supports the formation of biofields mediated by genetic similarities. The certainty of time series analysis of field effects of consciousness (see here and here) is very high indeed, with probability values as high as p < 0.000000000000003.

My published work on what is known as the Maharishi Effect is part of a much broader research programme involving almost a hundred published studies conducted at multiple institutions looking at the results of significant levels of participation in transcendental meditation and the group practice of meditation.

Despite the foregoing discussions, where we have cited complex physical theories and ideas, transcending itself is disarmingly simple. The technique is easily learned from a trained instructor and effortless to practice. It is not an intellectual endeavour, anyone can achieve it. Experience of the ground state of consciousness is a built-in capability of our nervous system, just as the capacity to sit is contained in the ability to walk.

How can a science of consciousness affect our understanding of genetics?

Public health systems and medical interventions are largely oriented to tackle disease. Genetics describes itself not just as an endeavour aiming to tackle disease, especially inherited disease, but also as a means to transfer higher abilities and physical states attained by a few for the benefit of many. It is a vision which has captured the imagination of the public. The dream of greater beauty, height, health and longevity is very attractive, but it remains a genetic dream that fails to match the disappointing results of biotechnology experimentation.

Taken together the principles explored in this article add to the notion that our genetic system is only able to support the expression of human consciousness because it is highly specified, precise and subtle. We discuss this in detail in our article The Goldilocks Factor in Genetics. We concluded that the stability and function of the genome is sensitive to the finest details of its structure and to any agent of change. In other words, genetic editing risks upsetting the balance of biological systems and organisms to the extent that the survival of life itself is put at risk. Practically speaking, gene therapy has proved inordinately costly, highly risky and notably ineffective. After 75 years of experimentation, its procedures, which were repeatedly labelled as promising or on the verge of breakthroughs, still haven’t worked. Mistakes have proved to be the norm and they can’t be contained or remediated. Over the past five years millions have died for a lost cause.

Understanding life requires understanding consciousness. Genetics will remain incomplete without understanding consciousness. Our cellular genetic system enables the expression of consciousness, but it doesn’t create consciousness. Crucially, the experience of consciousness does not require an understanding of genetics. Consciousness is fully available to itself without any need for a biotechnologist.

In our writing, we have referenced studies verifying the experience of transcending improves mental and physical health and positively impacts diverse disease conditions. When public participation in transcending passes a critical threshold (around 1%, 1 in a 100) there is a measurable phase transition to reduced crime and conflict that positively impacts the whole collective consciousness. Individual and collective consciousness share a mutual reciprocity of influence. Improve the individual and you improve society, an improved society reflects positively on the individual. This initiates a cross over point which starts to unlock higher abilities of the individual and society. In this way transcending can deliver the vision of genetics without the inherent problems. Implementation of transcending in society through education could initiate a great leap forward. I discuss this phenomenon in great detail in my book Your DNA Diet.

Conclusion

It is a fundamental tenet of science that there is a single reality of natural law. Manmade formulations from the differing perspectives of distinct disciplines have to interlock seamlessly. There cannot be two incompatible realities. Current formulations of genetic theory fail this test when compared to the highly verified results and principles of physical theory, self-referral experiences of consciousness accessible to all, and traditional knowledge about life that has stood the test of time. Wide scale genetic manipulation of food and organisms being carried out by biotechnology is a dead end that has shown itself capable of undermining health and the source of life itself. In contrast there are channels of progress available via a science and technology of consciousness.

Is this understanding applicable to our lives? We go through periods of growth but also aging and ill health. We make choices. Some of them are clearly mistakes. In fact there is an old saying ‘to err is human’. Yet we can grow in wisdom. It is in our hands to make the right choices. We can experience moments of profound insight. As Einstein said: “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift.” And he further described intuition as “a leap in consciousness”.

Two characteristics define living systems:—sentience and genetics. In our article Part Two Twenty Reasons to Completely Reject Biotechnology Experimentation : Consciousness-Based Alternatives we have argued that consciousness is primary and matter secondary. Consciousness expresses itself in the material and social world by virtue of our genetics. Our genome is precisely structured to facilitate the reflection of universal consciousness in individual life, only we have to make the right choices in order to capitalise on and develop this potential.

At its most fundamental level it is our association with universal consciousness mediated via our extended genetic system that enables human life to defy the second law of thermodynamics by growing in wisdom.

Universal consciousness is the constant companion of individual consciousness, but its existence is overshadowed by our focus on external perception. Our perception of the external material world and its myriad of interactions masks the universal backdrop to existence, just as the flickering images of a movie overshadow the white screen on which they are projected. Evolution involves the rise of self referral awareness, accompanied by an increasing intimacy between individual and universal consciousness. At its highest level this culminates in the realisation that ‘I am universal consciousness’.

Awareness has excited states, characteristic of waking, dreaming and sleeping consciousness, but like all systems it also has a ground state, a least excited state. The traditional process of transcendental meditation known to many ancient cultures and traditions allows the mind to turn within and naturally settle into the ground state of self referral consciousness, wherein the impact of external outward-looking perception has fallen away leaving consciousness in a pure universal state. With practice and time this contact with universal consciousness becomes established as the everyday reality of life. It is never lost. Self-realisation becomes a permanent feature of everyday life.

As explained in our article “What is a Human Biofield”, this is possible because consciousness is a field. It is present everywhere at every point in time and space. In fact space-time is an expression of universal consciousness. Human consciousness contains the capacity to interface with universal consciousness through a technology of consciousness known as transcending. This process of evolution of consciousness not only defies the law of universal decay, but irrevocably reverses the arrow of time to the extent that the source of life is revealed to life itself.

The precision of the structure of the genome required to achieve the capacity to reflect the totality of cosmic life is almost beyond imagination or calculation. It is inconceivable that the methods of objective science could exactly define how this is possible. Suggestions that particular genes loosely associated with language acquisition and the use of tools are responsible for all higher human functions are simplistic, uninformed and discredited. Higher human functions involve individual consciousness linking with universal consciousness. Because mind and body are two sides of one coin, this necessarily involves the participation and integration of very level of physical reality from the gross to the most subtle, from classical to quantum mechanical.

The possibility of the evolution of human consciousness is directly challenged by the process of genetic modification which by definition edits the precision of the genome and the epigenome and thereby its capacity to reflect universal consciousness. We know this is the case because extensive research shows the health of an organism is inevitably challenged and mutated by genetic editing. There are always unintended consequences of genetic modification.

Although germline experimentation on humans has been limited until now by international conventions, the failure of such experiments on animals is conclusive. For example Reports released by NZ AgResearch show that after 25 years of genetic experiments on hundreds of animals at their Ruakura facility there are no surviving animals. The cruel and unusual series of experiments resulted in spontaneous abortions, cancers, deformities, sterility and other problems incompatible with the continuation of life.

As we have explained in our article “The modern age cannot be an age of biotechnology“ there are turning points in history when the direction and destiny of the human race shifts. As we further explained in our article “The Goldilocks Factor in Genetics”, genetic editing is an evolutionary dead end because it fails to appreciate or protect the depth of genetic subtlety and precision supporting the expression of consciousness, which is the essential characteristic of life. Conversely, since time immemorial the highest expressions of human civilisation have recognised the exploration of human consciousness as the gateway to health, happiness and enlightenment.

Today we are faced with a myriad of challenges extending from individual life to the global stage, involving miscalculations in all the disciplines of science and technology, industry and defence, all political ideologies and decision-making. Every opinion and course of action is available in the world, many of which are irreconcilable with one another.

Problems result from past actions and present decision-making. Trying to resolve these problems one at a time, through analysis, discussions, diplomacy, regulation or individual action is pursuing a mirage. It disappears whenever you try to get close. History and experience show that trying to solve a problem on the level of the problem only appears to create more problems. A new element of knowledge is needed in the world today to avert looming catastrophe.

To solve problems you need to come out of the field of problems. Exploration of human consciousness through a process of transcending is one solution to all problems because it develops our relationship with the ground state of universal consciousness. A unified field which is inherently devoid of problems because it is unified. Because of its unified nature, it promotes the evolution and growth of living systems. Contact with universal consciousness accelerates the process of evolution.

Today we have written about the eternal evolutionary structure of natural law from the perspective of the second law of thermodynamics and the field of universal consciousness. Human genetics are finely and precisely structured to support the process of evolution. We are recognising the experience of universal consciousness as the final frontier of evolution to be crossed. If we are to understand life, we must not just understand but experience and live universal consciousness. This is at once a personal journey and should be an undertaking of knowledge-based societies that wish to grow and flourish.

For carbon atoms, the building blocks of life, to develop, the value of the electromagnetic force constant, the cosmological constant, the expansion rate of the universe, the exact power of the strong and weak nuclear forces and their ratio to the electromagnetic force, the masses of the electron and the neutrino, the masses of the up and down quarks, the value of the gravitational constant and the ratio to the electromagnetic force and the initial entropy of the universe all have to fall into incredibly narrow ranges that are not dictated by known physical theory.

The collective improbability of all this fine tuning runs to values greater than 1 part in one million billion trillion trillion (1 in 10⁴⁰). In other words if there is the tiniest shift in any of these values, the universe would not be able to develop as it has. Stars would not be able to generate carbon and oxygen atoms and other heavier elements necessary for life. Stephen Hawking wrote of this in his best selling book A Brief History of Time, “The remarkable fact is that the values of these numbers seem to have been finely adjusted to make possible the development of life”.

Said in more everyday language, the universe is incredibly precise, seemingly impossibly so unless it has a maker. Therefore the phenomenon of fine tuning has inspired many physicists including Hoyle to believe deeply that the universe has been designed. This interpretation is amply explored and explained in the NY Times best selling book Return of the God Hypothesis by Dr Stephen C. Meyer. We are not concerned here in this article to debate Meyer’s theism, but rather to ask if the precision and specificity of the universe down to the finest details and nuances extends to the biological world and particularly to genetic structures and functions.

In other words, does genetic editing upset the balance of biological systems and organisms to the extent that the survival of life itself is put at risk?

A number of published studies are pointing firmly in that direction. As far back as 2016, Professor Michael Antoniou and others working at the prestigious Kings College Department of Medical and Molecular Sciences published a paper entitled “An integrated multi-omics analysis of the NK603 Roundup-tolerant GM maize reveals metabolism disturbances caused by the transformation process" which showed that a variety of genetically modified corn (NK603) engineered to be resistant to glyphosate was not substantially equivalent to its natural ancestor. Antoniou used in depth molecular profiling and found multiple concerning changes which were indicative of toxicity:

“Proteome profiles of the maize kernels revealed alterations in the levels of enzymes of glycolysis and TCA cycle pathways, which were reflective of an imbalance in energy metabolism. Changes in proteins and metabolites of glutathione metabolism were indicative of increased oxidative stress. The most pronounced metabolome differences between NK603 and its isogenic counterpart consisted of an increase in polyamines including N-acetyl-cadaverine (2.9-fold), N-acetylputrescine (1.8-fold), putrescine (2.7-fold) and cadaverine (28-fold), which depending on context can be either protective or a cause of toxicity. Our molecular profiling results show that NK603 and its isogenic control are not substantially equivalent.”

You can read a recent in depth interview with Professor Antoniou here in which he details the possible downstream effects of eating genetically modified crop varieties. These extend to a chain of thousands of run-on adverse effects in biological systems including in the human and animal gut which could possibly be seriously affecting overall health. Here’s the rub, a principle of substantial equivalence is being used by the food industry and regulators. It is being misused to ensure that no health and safety testing of GM ingredients and processing aids ever has to take place.

A paper entitled “COVID-19 Injections: Harms and Damages, a Non-Exhaustive Conclusion" sums up the extent of damage to the entire physiological network as the Covid vaccine initiates changes to cellular genetic functions.

“Far from benign, these vaccines have unleashed profound harm, disrupting nearly every system of the human body and contributing to unprecedented levels of morbidity and mortality. From autoimmune diseases and cardiovascular catastrophes to pregnancy complications and aggressive cancers, the pattern of systemic toxicity cannot be dismissed as coincidental. Urgent scrutiny and accountability are needed.”

Note that ‘nearly every system in the body’ is affected and that the scale of such effects is ‘not a coincidence’. In other words catastrophic broad scale adverse effects appear to be inevitable consequences of genetic editing however small.

Another paper entitled “Unintended Genetic Consequences of mRNA Vaccines: Evaluating Risks of Transcriptional Disruption, HLA Alteration, and Genomic Integration" concludes

“Contrary to initial claims that mRNA degrades harmlessly, emerging evidence suggests that synthetic sequences may embed within the human exome, disrupting essential genetic processes. The primary concern lies in the potential scrambling of the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) gene complex, which could trigger autoimmune disorders and long-term genetic instability. Furthermore, the spike proteins produced by mRNA vaccines have been implicated in oxidative stress, DNA damage, and impaired cellular repair mechanisms…a reevaluation of mRNA technology is imperative to prevent irreversible consequences for human health.”

Note the use of the word ‘irreversible’. In other words, if the balance of the genetic functioning has been upset it is very hard if not impossible to reverse.

A preprint paper entitled “Synthetic mRNA Vaccines and Transcriptomic Dysregulation: Evidence from New-Onset Adverse Events and Cancers Post-Vaccination" investigated transcriptomic alterations in individuals with new-onset adverse events or cancer following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination. It found that vaccine patient groups displayed widespread genetic transcription dysregulation including mitochondrial dysfunction, proteasome-mediated stress, transcriptomic instability, and systemic inflammation. The authors concluded

“Shared and distinct molecular signatures in both cohorts demonstrate underlying mechanisms contributing to post-vaccine symptomatology and complications, including oncogenesis and or progression of malignant disease.”

A way to interpret the significance of ‘fine tuning’ in the universe is known as the strong anthropic principle or SAP. Simply stated this says:

The universe must have properties which allow life to develop because the formulation of physical laws relies on the presence of an observer.

The obvious paradox that human observers post-date the formation of the universe is resolved if one admits the experience of universal consciousness and the understanding that consciousness is pre-geometry and pre-time. In the ancient science of Ayurveda and many other cultural traditions around the world, consciousness is considered to be primary and matter secondary. Consciousness is the glue of the universe. In this view, consciousness is the supersymmetric balance that is the home of all the physical laws. The human nervous system is capable of knowing this, not through intellectual analysis but through personal experience or realisation in a transcendent state.

To achieve this personal synthesis of universal law and individual consciousness, not only is universal law structured within highly specific and improbably narrow limits but also genetic and epigenetic structures must have an equally specific balance and molecular placement right down to the finest details. We are talking here of a highly integrated world in which human physiology and its genetic structure is finely structured to reflect the cosmic order of the universe which is embedded in the self-referral field of universal consciousness.

Editing the genetic structure in any way could upset the fine tuning we share with the cosmos. In fact our connection with the cosmic organising power is the very thing that drives human creativity and ensures our well being. In religious terms this is expressed by the phrase from Genesis: “God created man in his own image”. Whether you view life through the lens of God’s Will or through the science of natural law is immaterial. The universe is a lawful integrated whole, finely tuned to ensure we are all governed by natural law and of necessity we must all participate whatever our beliefs, growing in knowledge and experience. The symbiosis between cosmos and consciousness has very far reaching consequences.

A paper published in Molecular Cell is entitled “Kinetics and Fidelity of the Repair of Cas9-Induced Double-Strand DNA Breaks". Researchers found that whereas breaks in both strands of DNA (DSBs) that occur frequently due to ionising cosmic radiation are rapidly and accurately repaired within cells tens of thousands of times a day, DSBs that result from CRISPR gene editing take a relatively longer time to repair and the repairs are error prone. The difference is understood to lie in the mechanism of the CRISPR editing process resulting in very minute changes in the break ends. In other words, our genome has a stable relationship with the surrounding natural world, but this stability can be easily overthrown by a man-made process of genetic editing which bypasses the fine tuning inherent in the DNA.

The stability of the genome is sensitive to the finest details of its structure and to any agent of change.

Biotechnology theory is in fact built on outdated solid state physical models which bear no resemblance to the quantum mechanical world known to modern physics. DNA is a not a linear molecule made of distinct atoms which behave like billiard balls. It is a molecule operating at a time and distance scale which requires a self-interacting quantum field interpretation of its functions. As such it is connected to the wider universe and its unified source in a highly specified way.

We can begin to ask how much consciousness is wrapped up with our genetic structures and functions? Certainly these facilitate the expression of consciousness, but how far into the detail does this relationship extend? If genetic structures are an expression of universal consciousness, are edited genetic structures expressions of limited individual consciousness which fail to recreate fine tuning necessary for life? Are man-made genetic structures aberrant pieces of consciousness out of step with Cosmic harmony? The fact that almost no one is asking such questions points to a deficiency in our understanding of the possible missteps of biotechnology experimentation.

As we have stated before, we are standing on the edge of a new era. What will happen now is up to us. The studies we cite above represent a warning that unless genetic manipulation is outlawed it could be an age of chaos, self destruction and decline. Unbelievably, misinformed governments around the world including NZ are planning to deregulate genetic experimentation, opening the flood gates to exotic genetic manipulations whose outcomes are no longer uncertain, but from what we now know are certain to usher in ill health and confusion, leaving us outside the protective envelope afforded by the ‘fine tuning’ of life.

The renaissance brought forth a flowering of appreciation of nature, leading Leonardo Da Vinci to write in the 15th century:

“Human subtlety will never devise an invention more beautiful, more simple or more direct than does nature because in her inventions nothing is lacking, and nothing is superfluous.”

A deeper scientific understanding of the laws of nature began in earnest when Copernicus realised that the earth revolved around the sun (1543) and Galileo saw the moons of Jupiter (1610), culminating in the quantification of the laws of gravity by Newton (1687). As a result of these discoveries, our world view became mechanised. Consequently the human race was no longer an leading actor at the centre of a well ordered hierarchy of celestial spheres but on some distant planet at the edge of a lonely galaxy. John Donne captured the existential turmoil of the age writing in 1611 his An Anatomy of the World:

“New philosophy calls all in doubt…Tis all in pieces all coherence gone”.

Nevertheless, with the passage of time, philosophy, theology and popular culture were able to accommodate strictly mechanistic and deterministic laws of nature within a conception of an awesome and beautiful cosmos which was God’s creation.

Following his globe circling voyage in the Beagle during the 1830’s and the discoveries he made, Charles Darwin published his Origin of the Species in 1859 which has, over the ensuing 165 years, played a key role in upending the prevailing view of an orderly natural world in which everything is well and wisely put. Darwin’s thesis introduced a more dynamic picture of nature in flux and in constant conflict wherein only the fittest survive. The world order suddenly appeared to be subject to chance and happenstance. Constant adaptation was taking place whose outcomes appeared to have a random character. As a result, Darwin himself gradually came to doubt the authenticity of religious dictum and theistic ideas.

With the development of quantum mechanics beginning at the outset of the twentieth century, the crisis in the well ordered deterministic paradigm of natural law began to deepen. Nature at its deepest level appeared to be inherently unpredictable, randomly subject to chance. Famously Einstein could not accept this conclusion saying:

"Quantum theory yields much, but it hardly brings us close to the Old One's secrets. I, in any case, am convinced He does not play dice with the universe".

In 1953 the discovery of the molecular structure of DNA opened a window into the inner mechanics of the cell and the mechanism of inherited characteristics, which led Francis Crick to proclaim: “We have discovered the secret of life”. Modern geneticists began to believe they could play God and alter the very basis of life. In 2017 Jennifer Doudna, the Nobel prize winning inventor of CRISPR gene editing, writing in her book A Crack in Creation cautioned:

“The power to control our species' genetic future is awesome and terrifying. Deciding how to handle it may be the biggest challenge we have ever faced.”

In 2020 we collectively arrived at the edge of a biotechnology future. A lab-made gene-edited illness swept the world and a vaccine designed to tinker with our genetic processes overturned the order of natural genetic inheritance that has held sway for billions of years. Six years later in the cold light of day it is very hard not to think that the science of biotechnology has taken a wrong turn down an intellectual and experimental cul de sac with deadly consequences for the human race.

A preprint paper entitled “Synthetic mRNA Vaccines and Transcriptomic Dysregulation: Evidence from New-Onset Adverse Events and Cancers Post-Vaccination” has laid out the extent of the disruption to genetic expression. Using high-resolution RNA sequencing on blood samples, the study found that thousands of cellular and intercellular functions were disrupted:

“Covid vaccine patient groups displayed widespread transcriptional dysregulation…..including mitochondrial dysfunction, proteasome-mediated stress, transcriptomic instability, and systemic inflammation”

Included in the study were a group of vaccinated patients who had developed new-onset cancers. In addition to the above, these patients exhibited additional hallmarks of genomic instability, and epigenetic reprogramming including “elevated immune signalling via TLRs and type I interferons”. One of the authors, Nicholas Hulscher, has summarised the implications on Substack as follows:

• Mitochondrial failure – Complex I breakdown, oxidative stress, energy collapse

• Immune reprogramming – Chronic inflammation, ACE2 suppression, TLR hyperactivation

• Oncogenic activation – MYC up, p53/KRAS down, DNA repair suppression

• Cellular stress – Ribosome overload, misfolded protein buildup, proteasome activation

• Epigenetic remodeling – Chromatin shifts, methylation changes, nucleosome displacement

• Reverse transcription suggested – Patterns consistent with LINE-1 activity and persistent plasmid DNA, raising concern for potential genomic integration or sustained foreign gene expression

The study concluded:

“The observed transcriptomic profiles indicate persistent cellular stress responses, mitochondrial dysfunction, and immune dysregulation following exposure to mRNA vaccines, potentially in susceptible individuals. Shared and distinct molecular signatures in both cohorts demonstrate underlying mechanisms contributing to post-vaccine symptomatology and complications, including oncogenesis and or progression of malignant disease. These findings underscore the need for a deeper investigation into the long-term safety of mRNA vaccines and host response variability”

From this it appears that we have so profoundly misunderstood nature that we are are on the brink of collective destruction. In this article we ask what have we missed, what are the gaps in our understanding of life? It offers insights in addition to those already headlined in “The Long Read: Twenty Reasons to Completely Reject the Biotechnology Paradigm"

We should reconsider the fundamentals of the prevailing scientific world view which at its root is exemplified in the highly verified laws of physics.

Since the advent of the mechanistic picture of life, science has granted human consciousness the status of an ‘OBSERVER’. In the world of rationalistic scientific theory, humans are never referred to as ‘ACTORS’. In other words, the apparent assumption is that humans do nothing. We are simply a detached observer subject to the laws of physics. Rationalists endeavour to exclude consciousness from science and all that it represents. For the rational scientist, consciousness can be safely consigned to the realms of psychology and theology—fantasies which have little or nothing to do with the laws of nature which ultimately hold sway over everything in the Cosmos.

The reality of experimental results in fundamental physics is a far cry from this grey, lifeless view of existence. Their rigorous interpretation requires an observer who is not passive, but rather an intimately involved actor on the cosmic stage. There are six key ways in which consciousness has entered into and occupied a central place in twentieth century physics.:

• Firstly in 1905, Einstein’s seminal paper on Special Relativity revealed that the speed of light is the same for all observers. Einstein highlighted the special relationship between the observer and the physical world of space-time.

• Secondly, the emergence of quantum mechanics revealed that measurement and hence the observer plays a key role in the evolution of physical states (See Quantum Reality: Beyond the New Physics, Anchor Books 1987) which can even extend to backwards causation in time (See Greene, The fabric of the cosmos. Penguin Books, 2004). Measurement collapses the quantum mechanical wave function from an abstract multidimensional probabilistic Hilbert space of all possibilities into what we call concrete reality.

• Thirdly, quantum entanglement between states ensures that information can travel faster than the speed of light across vast distances. In other words, a measurement conducted by an observer can instantly affect distant matter. Quantum entanglement is in effect a memory of a past interaction whose implications persist and affect future outcomes.

• Fourthly, quantum cosmology explains the emergence of the universe itself as the result of the interplay between observer, observed, and crucially the observer-observed relationship which can be quantified as information gathering and utilising systems described by the Wheeler-De Witt equation (See WHEELER, J. A. and PATTON, C. M.: in Quantum Gravity, (ed. C. Isham, R Penrose, andD. Sciama) Oxford University Press, 1975).

• Fifthly, theories, which aim to provide a completely unified framework for physical theory such as String Theory, rely on non-abelian mathematics whose self-referral structure is a defining characteristic of consciousness.

• Sixth, the laws of physics are symmetric as to the passage of time, yet a unidirectional arrow of time is our common experience. Thus discussion of this arrow of time and the second law of thermodynamics often identifies orderly states with reference to an observer’s preferences. This sixth entry of consciousness into physics makes the connection between physics and evolutionary theory. Living systems defy the second law of thermodynamics, increasing in order rather than disorder.

In sum, physics is not just incomplete without an OBSERVER, but also requires an understanding of consciousness as an ACTOR. More than this, individual actors have a unique IDENTITY. This identity is reflected in the unique genetic makeup of an individual. Genetic makeup involves not just DNA, but the whole cell and the collection of 37 trillion cells whose unified functions support the expression of a universal field of consciousness as an individual actor within an extended biofield.

The belief that consciousness has no place in scientific law is deeply held. To the committed rationalist, consciousness is something that should be abhorred and ignored. However, leaving consciousness out of the equation renders physical theory incomplete and inconsistent with experimental reality. The interpretation of physical experiment needs to take implications vis a vis individual and universal consciousness more seriously.

In fact quantum physical reality corresponds more closely to our personal experience than the mechanistic laws of Newton.

Just as alternative quantum states are superimposed as they evolve in an abstract space before collapsing to a specific state upon measurement, we naturally entertain alternative choices before taking decisions which collapse these alternatives into a single concrete action.

It is a commonly held belief that we are connected across space and time with the past and with others close to us. Throughout the ages, societies have considered personal responsibility for actions to be a paramount legal and religious principle. As you sow so shall you reap, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. This idea is also expressed in the philosophy of karma, which holds that past actions have enduring effects and consequences. It is hard to avoid citing the discovery of quantum entanglement which appears to be a fundamental property of matter loosely aligned with widely held principles of individual and social responsibility.

Exactly how consciousness expresses itself via our genetic makeup is unknown to science, but the implication of quantum reality is clear, as is our personal experience, —consciousness is primary and matter secondary. Surely consciousness is the frontier we have to cross as we enter a new age of technology. Not as an intellectual exercise, but, as the philosophy of Yoga and Karma suggests, through the direct experience of universal or unified consciousness in the deep silence of transcendental meditation.

Maharishi Patanjali, the historical founder of the philosophy of Yoga, explains that there are laws of consciousness which can be harnessed to produce physical results. These practices are known as siddhis, literally the perfected action of a fully awake consciousness. The Bhagavad Gita in 4.19 says the wise know that the effects of past karma can be used up in the fire of knowledge (the experience of expanded consciousness). Similar understandings about redemption and freedom are found in cultural and religious traditions across the world from China to Jerusalem to Greece and everywhere in between.

If two particles are entangled by their past interactions, so can many be linked. The consequences can locate and affect participants across time and space. The metaphysics of this quantum entanglement has already become a subject of philosophical debate. We are caught in a karmic web of relationships of our own making. To free ourselves, traditional practices involving rituals of sound, prayer and meditation can connect us with the purifying fire of universal consciousness which is not constrained by time and space. If governments can assign unique identifying tags to individuals and track them through time and distance, it is not so far-fetched to assume that nature does likewise, tracking and rewarding individuals. Acting as if a postal system, which forwards a letter to the recipient, even if they have changed address. Understanding these principles of consciousness and action at their deepest level will prove fruitful.

There is another lesson here. No doubt it is the continuity afforded by the unique genetic makeup of the individual which is at the nexus of the flow of consciousness as it meets the future. A recent paper entitled “Association Between COVID-19 Vaccination and Neuropsychiatric Conditions” confirms a clear safety signal connecting mental instability with mRNA Covid vaccination. This demonstrates just how far the editing of genetic functions can make inroads into our connection with the continuity of universal consciousness. Biotechnology threatens to scramble the inheritance of the past, distort our perception of the present and destroy our future. It should be rejected.

The innumerable decisions we make at the interface between consciousness and matter determine our future course. At this mind/body interface there are four factors over which we can exercise choice: experience, behaviour, food and thinking. The key to all of our choices lies in the state of our Being.

Consciousness

The defining characteristic of life is awareness or consciousness. We are awake—we remember, we experience, we decide, we act, we eat. Ayurveda identifies the primary cause of illness as the loss of universal consciousness. This is referred to as pragyaparad, the mistake of the intellect. This happens when the object of attention overshadows our self awareness.

Consciousness is the fulcrum point upon which our future turns. Our everyday personal experience of being awake shows that consciousness is not an epiphenomenon of matter, consciousness is primary in everyone’s life, matter is secondary. Any approach to understanding or enhancing our life experience, health and well being must begin with consciousness.

The eternal structure of life is the togetherness of knower, process of knowing and known, or the unity of observer, process of observation and observed. Referred to in Vedic literature as the Samhita of Rishi, Devata and Chhandas According to Ayurveda, disease arises because the true nature of the knower, the self, is overshadowed by the object of perception when it falls on the screen of the mind. This is often referred to as identification. Therefore to be wholly complete, any paradigm of biology and health must encompass the expansion of consciousness. This is not a side issue, consciousness must be centre stage in any understanding of life and any promotion of health.

We are familiar with three states of consciousness: waking, dreaming and deep sleep. These states of consciousness relate to our experience, their quality depends on how awake we are, how refreshed we are, or alternatively how drowsy we are. As such, they are relative states of consciousness, they exist relative to changing circumstances and perceptions. Each state of consciousness is supported by a distinctly different and measurable style of physiological functioning.

In waking consciousness the absolute nature of consciousness, as opposed to its relative expressions, is overshadowed by our experience. We see the tree, but the nature of the knower itself is covered by the object of experience. The remedy for this situation is not to try to avoid identification which is a natural part of waking consciousness which cannot be suppressed, but to engage in a practice of meditation which leads to the experience of universal consciousness.

This is a fourth state of consciousness: transcendental consciousness, in which the mind is fully awake, but without external experience. Transcendental consciousness is a unique fourth state of consciousness characterised by restful alertness. Hundreds of studies have shown the experience is accompanied by deep physiological rest measured by lowered metabolic rate, heart rate and breath rate along with EEG patterns indicative of high alertness. Subjectively, the mind is completely at peace in an expanded, self-sufficient state of awareness but without any boundaries of external perception.

A 1987 field study entitled “Medical care utilization and the transcendental meditation program compared the medical insurance utilisation statistics of 2000 practitioners of transcendental meditation to a normative database of 600,000 people enrolled in the same scheme. The study found that

"The benefits, deductible, coinsurance terms, and distribution by gender of the TM group were very similar to the norm, yet the TM group had lower medical utilisation rates in all categories. Inpatient days per 1000 by age category were 50.2% fewer than the norm for children (0-18), 50.1% fewer for young adults (19-39), and 69.4% fewer for older adults (40+). Outpatient visits per 1000 for the same age categories were, respectively, 46.8%, 54.7%, and 73.7% fewer. When compared with five other health insurance groups of similar size and professional membership, the TM group had 53.3% fewer inpatient admissions per 1000 and 44.4% fewer outpatient visits per 1000. Admissions per 1000 were lower for the TM group than the norm for all of 17 major medical treatment categories, including 55.4% less for benign and malignant tumours 87.3% less for heart disease, 30.4% less for all infectious diseases, 30.6% less for all mental disorders, and 87.3% less for diseases of the nervous system. However, the TM group's admission rates for childbirth were similar to the norm.”

The effect size of meditation on health conditions is very large compared to drug therapies. For example regular meditation may be thirty times more effective than statins at preventing cardiac illness and of course free of side effects.

The range of health benefits of meditation is very broad indeed, indicating a holistic effect on physiology orchestrated from the field of self-referral consciousness. In a survey of the published studies on the health benefits of meditation, I categorised the studies’ outcomes according to 45 quality of life factors.

The results are documented below. The numbers refer to study references contained in my book Your DNA Diet. Meditation is research in consciousness. The science and technology of consciousness involves repeated experience of transcendental consciousness. This does not require a technologist, or external stimulation. It is achieved when the awareness is allowed to naturally settle down during a process of meditation which is easily learned by anyone.

How do consciousness-based techniques relate to the established paradigms of modern biology and biotechnology?

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, exponent of Veda and Vedic literature in the twentieth century, developed a chart (below) which neatly encapsulates the foundational nature of consciousness in biology. In this chart we see that DNA plays a central role in controlling and directing every level of physiological structure and function. In turn DNA is embedded in and emerges from the laws of nature explained by physics. The laws uncovered by physics originate in a unified level of natural law which is self referral. This unified field, through a process described as symmetry breaking, sequentially gives rise to space, time and the diversification of matter and field types which are the components of DNA. The self-referral quality of the unified identifies it as a field of consciousness which can be experienced in its pure or universal state during meditation.

Crucially, this chart suggests the possibility of meditation stimulating the foundation of physiology which in its most compressed form is the DNA molecule. Subsequent studies tend to support this view.

A study published in 2012 in Consciousness and Cognition entitled “Genome-wide expression changes in a higher state of consciousness assessed “the whole genome gene expression analysis of long-term meditators in four separate trials and detected significant differential gene expression in association with higher states of consciousness”. The study described meditation as a universal capacity, but found that the molecular signature of higher states of consciousness depends on the meditation technique being employed.

A study published in 2023 in Brain, Behavior, & Immunity entitled "Transcendental Meditation practitioners show reduced expression of the Conserved Transcriptional Response to Adversity" found that a TM group showed lower expression of a pre-specified set of CTRA indicator genes when compared to controls. “These effects were accompanied by genome-wide indications of down-regulated pro-inflammatory transcription factor activity (NF-κB, AP-1), up-regulated activity of Interferon Response Factors (IRF) and reduced transcriptional activity of classical monocytes.”

A study published in 2025 in Biomolecules is entitled "Possible Anti-Aging and Anti-Stress Effects of Long-Term Transcendental Meditation Practice: Differences in Gene Expression, EEG Correlates of Cognitive Function, and Hair Steroids". It found “results consistent with reductions in biomarkers of chronic stress and biological age in long-term TM meditators. They are also consistent with results from the previous study suggesting that TM practice lowers energy consumption or leads to more efficient energy metabolism.”

The importance of this connection between meditation and genetic expression cannot be underestimated, but the relationship between the Vedic Literature and human physiology goes much deeper than this. Investigation by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in collaboration with scientists established that human physiology is an expression of a sequence of vibrations of consciousness or primordial sounds recorded in the forty aspects of the vast Vedic Literature. This thesis is expounded in a 665 page book Human Physiology: Expression of Veda and the Vedic Literature published by Tony Nader MD PhD.

Working with Maharishi and other scientists, Nader elaborates and illustrates a highly detailed structural and functional correspondence between the sequence of sounds and gaps between sounds in the various branches of the Vedic Literature and the organ systems of the body right down to the level of DNA. The work suggests medical applications of primordial Vedic sounds. You can listen to a sample of authentic Vedic sounds here.

Taken together these findings illustrate that the Vedic literature is not a religion or a set of beliefs. Just as physics comprises a set of universal laws which are verifiable through experiment, so consciousness is governed by a set of laws explained in the Vedic literature which can be verified by personal experience and science. The technology of consciousness is subjective, no intermediary technologist or equipment is required. Nor does this invalidate cultural and religious traditions, systems of prayer or meditation, rather it suggests many of these traditions and their practices will be consonant with the laws of consciousness. Moreover there are traditions of herbal lore and natural medicine all over the world whose validity can also be proven by science, history and personal experience.

Other techniques of Ayurveda

The objective of Ayurvedic approaches is to restore balance between three fundamental functions of the physiology or Doshas known as Vata—transport or movement, Pitta—transformation or digestion and Kapha—structure or strength. The primary approach of Ayurveda to maintain balance lies in the development of consciousness which rejuvenates and restores the connection of the entire physiology with its source in universal consciousness which is perfectly balanced.

As enumerated by Ayurveda, there are five senses of perception—hearing, smell, touch, sight and taste and five organs of action—mouth, hands, feet, excretion and reproduction. Each of these ten are directly addressed by preventive and treatment modalities, in conjunction with the primary approach directed at consciousness itself.

Food plays a central role in Ayurveda.

Food engages the senses of touch, taste, smell and sight as well as the mouth, hands, and organs of excretion. Ayurveda considers male and female reproductive ability as a most refined product of the digestion of food. The Upanishads, (literally meaning sitting next to the ultimate reality), go much further, granting food an originating role in human life and a supportive role in our capacity to know Brahman—the totality.

Multiple scientific studies have uncovered the immuno-protective role of a diet containing fresh fruit and vegetables which supports a longer life and higher protection against diseases such as cancer. For example, a study published in 2015 in Gastroenterology entitled Nutrients, foods, and colorectal cancer prevention with 150,000 participants over 32 years found that even a tiny 3 per cent increase in protein from plants led to a huge 12 per cent drop in risk of death from cardiovascular-related disease.

In my book Your DNA Diet I argue such evidence and much more indicates a vital nutritional role for foods based on DNA. In essence we are eating the intelligence of food which engages with the capacity of our genetic structure to support health. The Rig Veda refers to the plant kingdom as ‘mothers of mankind’ authenticating a key evolutionary role for plants in the development of human genetics. In fact all of our traditional food sources have been intimately linked to and derived from DNA. We have enjoyed a co-evolutionary relationship built up over over millions of years with an interlocking biological web of natural genetic structures centred on the DNA molecule.

In addition to detailed advice on diet and routine tailored to individual dosha types which can be simply diagnosed, Ayurveda has a Materia Medica listing over 5000 herbs along with their potent combinations and methods of preparation to prevent and/or alleviate specific conditions.

Ayurveda also utilises physiological rejuvenation approaches utilising oil massage and key pressure points, digestive purification, sound therapy, light therapy, and aromatherapy. There are behavioural recommendations including daily routines, yoga exercise, and injunctions such speaking the truth.

The most striking property of DNA is its ability to network in order to facilitate the expression of consciousness. More properly understood this is a property of cells which include DNA. Our 37 trillion cells support a single identity. In other organisms a similar property of cells is evident. This property is absolutely fundamental to life. Put abstractly ‘many become one’. This property appears to be at the root of the formation of groups in society which we have discussed in our article The Long Read: What is a Human Biofield?.

This introduces the consciousness-based technology of social evolution. Groups of people practising meditation techniques have a great transformative influence on society. I have investigated this in my 2017 paper “The Effect of Coherent Collective Consciousness on National Quality of Life and Economic Performance Indicators-An Analysis of the IMD Index of National Competitive Advantage". This study found:

“The scores of New Zealand and Norway on the IMD Index of National Competitive Advantage increased significantly when they passed the predicted coherence group threshold in 1993 (1% of a population practicing the Transcendental Meditation program or the √1% practicing the advanced TM-Sidhi program in a group) when compared to 44 other developed nations as shown by cross-country panel regression analysis (p < 0.000000000000003). Subsidiary analysis and OECD data confirmed that the changes were unusually broad-based (p <.000000065), sustained, and balanced in nature with five years of high growth, low unemployment, and low inflation. Taken as a whole, the findings suggest a prescription for balanced and sustained growth through a consciousness-based method to enhance quality of life and innovation among the population.”

Consciousness-based approaches handle the part and the whole.

Consciousness is simultaneously holistic and specific. Improvements in specific areas of the physiology, psychology and society are coupled with improvements in the physiology, psychology and society as a whole.

The power of consciousness-based biofields to stimulate social progress and eliminate problems can be harnessed more or less instantly which I discuss in chapters 11-13 of my book Your DNA Diet in terms of a Great Leap Forward. Even as problems, tensions and conflict rise including ill health and economic problems, they can be addressed by a technology of consciousness. Consciousness is the new frontier of knowledge we must cross as a civilisation—understanding ourselves. Fortunately technologies of consciousness are easily learned and can be rapidly implemented without great cost even for large populations. Therefore consciousness-based approaches are an efficient form of investment in health care, economic development and well being.

“We think of DNA like an operating system….we are hacking the software of life, the genetic code, and that has profound implications for the cure of everything from flu to cancer….We think of biotechnology as information therapy.”

In complete contrast, Our World in Data has reported in excess of 30 million excess deaths globally since January 1st 2020—the period when Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and others orchestrated the biotechnology response to a disease likely created through biotechnology experimentation.

Have Tal Zak and other pioneers of gene technology got it all wrong? Have we misunderstood far more about life than we have understood? Is our current paradigm of genetic modification and gene therapy incomplete? An increasing number of scientists are questioning the validity of the Covid response, but few are facing reality and questioning the safety of biotechnology in general. We explore twenty reasons to doubt the biotechnology vision of life that has become the common coin of medical and agricultural research, development, public and private and funding, as well as public education about the supposed benefits of gene technology.

1. Life begins with a whole cell, DNA does not act alone

Rather than a naked molecule of DNA, all life begins with a cell which has a three in one structure including DNA in the nucleus

Which mirrors the 3-in-1 structure of life as we personally experience it

2. The Complexity Biotech Ignores or Oversimplifies

A human cell contains around 2 trillion molecules whose actions are all coordinated together around the nuclear DNA to form the true building block of life. The complexity is only very partially understood. Editing DNA has ramifications for cellular functions that go far beyond our current understanding.

The explanations of biotechnology interventions being offered to the general public, such as vague and misleading diagrams like the one below purporting to outline the action of mRNA vaccines, are huge over simplifications which omit the multidimensional nature of cellular components each of which perform many functions which can be degraded when any individual element is edited.

3—10. The Eight Modes of Cellular Processes

The processes which transfer information within the cell from the nucleus to the membrane and into wider physiology are complex and multidimensional. They roughly correspond to classical ideas about the mind and body. We will consider these one by one from a modern scientific perspective.

3. The Paradox of Identity—DNA facilitates a ‘part and whole’ system.

Life develops sequentially from a single cell, but miraculously we retain a single identity. No one in biotechnology understands how this happens.

Our immune system is designed to defend the uniformity of DNA in our 37 trillion cells. Organ transplant recipients have to take immunosuppressant drugs for the rest of their lives. A paper in the journal Transplantology is entitled “Personality Changes Associated with Organ Transplants”. It documents the experiences of individuals who received a range of donated organs including hearts, kidneys, liver, and lungs.

It is well known that heart transplant recipients can experience consequent personality changes. Notably, this study shows that the same is true following other types of organ transplants. Here is a summary of the range of changes observed in the 47 study subjects broken down by heart transplant patients versus other organ recipients.

The implication is clear, editing of human DNA can result in unexpected and unwanted distortions of human identity.

4. Transcription and Regulation—The command and execution system of DNA via RNA

DNA expresses itself through RNA. In this way trillions of essential tasks and repairs are carried out everyday in every cell. Deliberately introducing genetic edits amounts to bypassing essential immune protections and homeostatic mechanisms whose functions are not fully understood. A 2012 article in Nature entitled “Landscape of transcription in human cells” reported:

“A complete catalogue of the functions and processing fates of RNAs is not yet available and their characteristic subcellular localizations are also poorly understood”

5. Vibrational Modes

A paper in the Journal of Cellular Signalling published in 2020 reports the role of molecular vibration in cellular systems. This is based in part on emission and resonance of electromagnetic patterns in the infrared frequency range generated by the vibrations of molecules. Resonant frequencies of molecular vibration are known to be particularly sensitive to precise atomic structure and can therefore be disrupted through editing of genetic and epigenetic molecular structure and functions.

6. Molecular Shape

A 2008 paper entitled “The importance of discerning shape in molecular pharmacology” reports that molecular shape helps determine interactions with cellular receptors, ion channels, enzymes, transporters and an array of other complex processes. Genetic modification can alter biomolecular folding and shape in unpredictable ways. A 2019 paper in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences warns “If a [genetic] mutation causes significant perturbation by either folding or binding free energies, it is quite likely to be deleterious”

7. Electromagnetic Fields

Genes work in tandem with Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) to ensure developmental stages follow a morphological pattern. Here is a photo of two-headed worms created by applying external electric fields during the developmental stage of the organism.

There are two potential dangers here. Firstly external EMFs such as those generated by cell phones and other electronic devices and technologies can disrupt healthy biological development causing for example DNA strand breaks in normal cells. Conversely genetic editing may result in faulty expression of intra-cellular EMF fields, an area that has not been researched and remains an unquantified risk factor.

8. Electric Signals

Electrical signals are conveyed along the cell membrane and are often converted into chemical signals conveyed by small messenger molecules called neurotransmitters. In general the translation of genetic expression into electric signals is not well understood which indicates another intra- and inter-cellular information pathway that is vulnerable to genetic and epigenetic editing procedures.

9. Water Soluble Processes

Liquid water constitutes about half the volume of every living biological cell. A 2017 article in Chemical Reviews reports

“Water can act as a solvent, reactant, product, catalyst, chaperone, messenger, and controller. Interactions with water are a major driving force for biomolecular structure and function in living systems. They are dominant forces in the folding of proteins and nucleic acids, the partitioning of solutes across membranes, and the binding of metabolites and drugs to biomolecules. Specific water molecules often play critical roles in biological mechanisms.”

It concludes that our current computational classical and quantum models of water are inadequate to understand the cellular characteristics of healthy life and disease formation. The lack of such understanding highlights a risk factor inherent in genetic modification.

10. Chemistry

Cells constantly receive and send chemical signals and extract energy from the chemistry of food. These mechanisms are put at risk by genetic modification in two ways. Firstly the capacity of our genetics to orchestrate the assimilation of the chemical energy in food. Secondly studies show that a diet containing fresh fruit and vegetables is highly supportive of health. Whether the genetic modification of food sources could impair the healthy quality of food based on DNA is an unknown quantity.

11. Intelligence

We have little or no idea how our awareness is supported by our genes. The defining characteristic of biological entities is their awareness. Living organisms are awake, they register perceptions, make decisions and respond intelligently to their environment. A 2001 paper published in Dialogues in Clinical Neuroscience entitled “Genetic basis of cognitive disability” concluded:

“The molecular pathology of cognitive disability is turning out to be as mixed up as the condition itself, with unexpected complexities even in apparently simple gene-deletion syndromes.”

The idea that an understanding of the risks of biotechnology can be constructed without understanding or including consciousness is absurd. The exclusion of consciousness from science, the reductionist viewpoint and the basis of the now defunct theory of behaviourism, is essentially a luddite viewpoint discredited by experimental results.

12: DNA is embedded in physical laws which are in turn embedded in consciousness

The four forces known to physics are connected to a unified field beyond time and space, whose self-interacting properties are characteristic of our consciousness.

Consciousness or the observer plays a central role in physical theory.

Firstly in 1905, Einstein’s seminal paper on Special Relativity revealed that the speed of light is the same for all observers. Einstein highlighted the special relationship between the observer and with the physical world of space-time.

Secondly, the emergence of quantum mechanics revealed that measurement and hence the observer plays a key role in the evolution of physical states which can even extend to backwards causation in time.

Thirdly, quantum mechanical entanglements or memories of relationships between states ensure that new interactions between consciousness and matter can alter the state of distant matter in the universe.

Fourthly, quantum cosmology explains the emergence of the universe itself as the result of the interplay between observer, observed, and observer-observed relationship which can be quantified as information gathering and utilising systems described by the Wheeler-De Witt equation.

Fifthly, theories, which aim to provide a complete unified framework for physical theory such as String Theory, rely on non-abelian mathematics whose self-referral structure is a defining characteristic of consciousness.

Sixth, the laws of physics are symmetric as to the passage of time, yet a unidirectional arrow of time is our common experience. Thus discussion of this arrow of time and the second law of thermodynamics often identifies orderly states with reference to an observer’s preferences.

This sixth entry of consciousness into physics makes the connection between physics and evolutionary theory. Living systems defy the second

law of thermodynamics, increasing in order rather than disorder.

In sum, physics is incomplete without a theory of consciousness.

DNA operates at the junction point between the laws of nature understood by physics and the biological laws governing the physiology

The most sophisticated functions of DNA at the junction point between consciousness and matter support human development and the higher abilities of human consciousness. Exactly how this happens is unknown to biotechnology and therefore the expression of consciousness could be put at risk by genetic modification.

13. Genetic structures are precise rather than random

The theory that genetic structures evolved through random events has given rise to the idea that genes may be edited safely. In fact genetic structures are hugely precise, replacing even a small sequence or even a single codon can overturn their function as a whole and give rise to inherited defects such Huntington’s or sickle cell anaemia. The immune system constantly defends this precision, completing around 70,000 DNA repairs in each cell every 24 hours.

An article by Zachary Blount in American Scientist in 2017 is entitled “Replaying Evolution—Is the living world more a result of happenstance or repeatable processes?” By studying thousands of generations of bacteria and by looking closely at related species of lizards on separate islands, Dr Blount concluded that evolution is both repeatable and contingent on circumstances. This puts the foundational premise of gene editing safety—the idea that evolution is essentially random—at risk. It raises fundamental questions about even the possibility of safe gene editing.

14. DNA is non-linear

Each gene performs many tasks in conjunction with other genes. They don’t operate alone. Editing genes inevitably causes off-target unintended mutagenic effects. Aim to change just one function but you also change the others. Despite publicity touting safety, this is also true of CRISPR editing. A 2003 article in Gene Therapy concluded

“There is a risk of treatment-induced malignancy from retrovirally based gene therapies.…its spectre has always loomed over the field.”

A 2019 article in Frontiers in Oncology entitled “Gene Therapy Leaves a Vicious Cycle” warned:

“…gene therapy has been caught in a vicious cycle for nearly two decades owing to immune response, insertional mutagenesis, viral tropism, off-target activity, unwanted clinical outcomes (ranging from illness to death of participants in clinical trials), and patchy regulations.”

The article struck a hopeful note because of the advent of CRISPR gene editing techniques, however subsequent problems such as the recent liver failures and deaths following Sarepta’s gene therapy treatment for muscular dystrophy have only served to confirm the existence of serious risks.

15. Impossible to Contain

Gene edits, once performed, cannot be recalled, remediated or contained. Laboratory accidents, infections, and organism escapes are far more common than we have been led to believe. Genetic material is highly mobile, and interactive. Under certain circumstances it can integrate into the human genome. A 2021 article in PNAS entitled “Reverse-transcribed SARS-CoV-2 RNA can integrate into the genome of cultured human cells and can be expressed in patient-derived tissues” confirmed the risk.

A 2022 study of the Prevalence of Accident Occurrence Among Scientific Laboratory Workers in Lebanon found:

“Among 220 participants recruited in our study, 99 participants (45.0%) have had accidents during their lab works. 59.6% have been exposed once, 32.3% between two and four times, only 1.0% between four and six times, and 7.1% more than six times.”

A 2015 USA Today Investigation uncovered hundreds of mistakes, reporting:

“Vials of bioterror bacteria have gone missing. Lab mice infected with deadly viruses have escaped, and wild rodents have been found making nests with research waste. Cattle infected in a university's vaccine experiments were repeatedly sent to slaughter and their meat sold for human consumption.”

16. High Rates of Adverse Effects

Rates of adverse events associated with gene editing and therapy dwarf the rates of adverse effects from pharmaceutical medicines and medical interventions which are already unacceptably high. Before the pandemic these were the third leading cause of death. There are physical reasons for this. At the smaller time and distance scales associated with nuclear and intra-cellular processes, fewer and fewer elements control a wider and wider range of effects. Thus multiplying the potential for error over longer periods of time covering the entire range of physiological processes and organ systems extending to whole system collapse.

A 2021 article in Nature is entitled “Gene therapy needs a long-term approach”. It reports:

“Gene-therapy trials are on the rise, but more needs to be done to understand the long-term risks associated with this type of treatment…..[there are] growing concerns about the late adverse effects.”

17. Epigenetic Spillover

Genes function as part of wider cellular, physiological and environmental systems. These systems are fundamental to our genetic command and control system. Alterations to regulatory mechanisms in cells such as those enforced by mRNA vaccination can permanently disrupt key ways genes express themselves. RNA cannot exist without DNA and DNA cannot express itself without RNA. Cells form a whole system with interdependent parts.

Even when fully grown, the physiology is not a static network. Studies have revealed that about 98 percent of all the atoms in a human body are replaced every year. This process of renewal fully relies on the integrity, flexibility, precision and subtlety of genetic processes whose full suite of functions over time and in response to injury or pathogens can be disrupted by genetic modification.

18. Risks to the Wider Ecosystem and Agriculture

Genetic modification is more like introducing rabbits to Australia (which has destroyed valuable pasture land with disastrous long term consequences) than it is like a heart transplant: it creates changes in the vast cellular and physiological ecosystem that will almost always have unpredictable effects unrelated to the intended purpose.

We are beginning to understand that the integrity of the human genome relies upon maintaining the wider epigenetic environment of our food sources among the plants and animals.

19. DNA is Part of a Biofield

The factors affecting our health range from the abstract field of consciousness through the physical fields and matter particles, molecular aggregation of elements, the complex DNA molecule, biochemical messengers, proteins, metabolic macromolecules, cellular components, cells, organs, organ systems, the physiology as a whole, microorganisms, our food, the air we breathe, the near environment including the epigenetic environment, our home, our family, our society, our world, our descendants and even the distant reaches of the universe. We have explored the concept of biofields in our article The Long Read: What is a Human Biofield? which explains that we are more closely linked together than previously recognised.

Biological organisms do not behave as purely mechanical systems which are governed by the second law of thermodynamics—the law of universal decay or entropy, which states that in any closed system disorder will increase over time. The order of biological systems increases rather than decays. In effect, biofields are open systems which consume order from their environment. They do so via their food intake. We are eating order, or in more common parlance intelligence. Whilst mechanical systems decay, biological systems cooperate to evolve. The peculiar ability of systems governed by DNA to flow upstream against the current of decay so to speak, is not properly understood and could be disrupted by genetic modification.

20. Society Involves Genetic Networks

The concept of a biofield owes much to our study of plants and animals. Biofields revolve around individual species who share specific genetic similarities.

Although we tend to describe communications and shared behaviours in terms of psychological and behavioural concepts, biofields are not confined by these. They involve multiple laws of nature, but principally they are genetic fields. The gene/consciousness axis supports an identity which relies on genetic similarity. This points to individual consciousness field formation via the physiology, but it also points to a biofield uniting organisms of the same species. A genetic biofield is the physical counterpart of collective consciousness.

The health of society depends on its members. The health of the individual depends on society. Crime, ill health, economic and geopolitical instability, social unrest, increased conflict, reduced social cohesion, and extreme polarisation of opinion are rising. The vaccination of billions of individuals using mRNA technology may have undermined genetic connections within the human biofields that underpin the stability and integration of society.

Given the inevitability of serious risks from biotechnology experimentation, what are the alternatives to maintain health, happiness and progress? In Part 2 of this article to be published shortly, we will explore the possible remedies and alternatives. This will involve an in depth discussion of the effect of technologies of consciousness.

The concept of a biofield owes much to our study of plants and animals. Biofields revolve around individual species. Trees of the same species in a forest have been found to participate in mutually supportive networks which sense environmental, nutritional, pathogenic and climatic dangers and then respond appropriately to help one another survive and prosper. Animals of the same species can exhibit cooperative behaviours to forage, hunt or raise young. They often live in communities, packs, herds, etc. Different species are often co-dependent with other species forming food chains for example, together they form larger biofields.

Although we tend to describe communications and shared behaviours in terms of psychological and behavioural concepts, biofields are multidimensional. They involve multiple laws of nature. For example some birds navigate by sensing magnetic fields. Unique biofields form in geographic places with specific climatic and geographic characteristics. They are influenced by availability and type of food sources. Scarcity of resources and competition for them are also key.

Above all, the defining characteristic of biological entities is their awareness. Biofields are fields that are in some definable sense awake, they involve organisms all of whom register perceptions, take decisions and respond intelligently to their environment. They also do so collectively.

This natural intelligence takes the form of proteins, vitamins, fats, carbohydrates, co-factors of digestion, etc. all of which originate with DNA. In my book Your DNA Diet, I argue that fresh food based on DNA is a vital nutritional component of a healthy diet.

Biofields are talked about widely, but there is little understanding about what their ultimate physical basis might be. Certainly DNA is embedded in the underlying universal laws of nature described by physics. There are four fundamental force fields quantified by physics—gravity, electromagnetism, weak and strong nuclear. As you go to finer time and distance scales, these become progressively more unified into a super symmetric framework. A unified field theorised at the Plank scale has to be described by non-abelian mathematics—it creates time, space, and matter from within itself. It doesn’t need anything outside itself, in fact there is nothing outside itself. This self-referral quality of theoretically conceived unified fields has led some physicists to equate them with consciousness.

Every material object is connected to a more abstract and subtle reality that, at the most refined level of natural law—the Planck Scale of 10^-33 cms, has the characteristics of consciousness. This understanding raises some fascinating speculations about biofields. Are they essentially networks of consciousness? Is our biological self at root a structure made out of consciousness which operates from the most universal and unified level of natural law? At first glance there would appear to be no objective experimental ramifications of this idea. The physical energies required to excite unified fields are close to the total energy of the universe.

Yet by implication, the key to investigation of biofields could lie with a greater understanding of consciousness, which fortunately is close at hand—our own self—fully available to everyone.

Organisms in biological systems have individual characteristics, each has a unique identity. Even plants vary slightly from one specimen to another. Every biological entity is paired with a genetic identity, which varies slightly from one to another. These genetic structures which define species and their individual members are embedded in the wider laws discovered by physics which are universal.

Genetic structures bridge the gulf between the universal and the individual, amply illustrated by the following diagram.

Genetic similarities are key drivers of biofield membership.

At this point we have to pause for thought. Modern science separates consciousness and matter, it ignores the first and gives primary status to the second. Yet we have biofields whose twin defining characteristics are genetic similarity and the capacity to be awake—body and mind, two sides of one coin. When we come to describe biofields of humans—society—we talk in terms of psychology, history, economics, behaviour, the built environment, climate, governance, etc. The closest we get to genetics is to mention ethnic origins, a concept whose importance we quite rightly wish to minimise.

At the heart of society is the family. Biofields are glued together by genetic and behavioural similarities inherited in family groups. What is the role of genetics in biofields in a strictly scientific rather than social sense?

Critical evidence is very close to hand. Trillions of cells in our body support a single human identity. How they do so is very much an unsolved scientific mystery, but certainly for each individual every single cell contains identical genetic information. Trillions of genetically identical cells have the capacity to communicate and work together to support a single conscious organism with a unique self-identity. The gene/consciousness axis in the human body supports an identity which relies on genetic similarity. Does this point to not just some sort of individual consciousness field formation via the physiology, but also between organisms of the same species?

I first began to think about this because of my background in physics and because of research conducted on human networks.

The phenomenon of quantum entanglement shows that memory is a characteristic of physical particles. At an atomic level, past interactions or events can lead to enduring connections that are even maintained at a physical distance across space and time. This might be relevant, although the application of quantum mechanical principles to something as large as a biological organism is currently no more than speculation.

It is my research on something known as the Maharishi Effect (ME) that throws up some huge questions about how humans form networks whose members can share common characteristics or behaviours. There have been over 55 studies of the effect published to date. I completed three of these (see here and here). Simply put, when approximately one per cent of a population practices deep meditation, there are measurable effects of increased orderliness in the wider population including reduced crime and increased economic activity. I have written extensively on this in chapters 11-13 of my book Your DNA Diet.

With reference to biofields, the most unusual characteristic of this effect is the fact that a population’s behaviour in a locality is influenced by the state of mind of its members whether they know or meet each other or not. The statistical certainty of this relationship is very very high indeed. How does that happen? I am grateful to a suggestion made by Maharishi himself at a conference I attended in 1975 in Switzerland—genetic similarity could be relevant to the formation of biofields and the spread of the effect. In other words the fields of consciousness correspond to biofields formed through genetic resonance.

Recently I have reviewed many of the published ME papers and realised that populations with tighter genetic links show more geographically focused effects of meditation by its members, whereas populations with greater genetic diversity have more diffused effects.

For example, a meditation project among a village population in Lebanon with settled roots found a strong localised reduction in conflict intensity, whereas a study of a meditation group in Iowa found an effect of reduced violent crime diffused throughout the USA which has a genetically diversified population. My study in Merseyside, including the port city of Liverpool, much of whose population shares definably similar genetic roots, showed a strong effect of crime reduction driven partly by local participation. Whereas a study in Washington DC required a much larger group of meditators imported temporarily into the US capital to produce a similar sized effect.

It is important to emphasise that this is not a religious or cultural concept. Deep meditation is associated with reductions in metabolic rate (deep rest) and increases in brain wave coherence. This is not the result of belief. Studies show systematic instruction and long term practice improve the health and immunity of the individual. ME is a technology to leverage the relationship between individual consciousness and collective consciousness, between individual physiology and the physiology of society. The effects are measurable and repeatable and thus open to scientific investigation and verification.

There is an extraordinary conclusion here that points to the need to expand our current models of social networks.

What does this tell us about biofields? We appear to share subtle connections with our family members and our wider whanau which can play a cohesive role in society. We are affected by every level of natural law, not just gravitational forces and electromagnetism, but also by climate, geography, sunshine, food, the built environment, microorganisms, etc. Direct communication, information, and emotional support are all crucial, but we can also say that our genetic structure is closely linked to individual consciousness. Therefore our social relationships could be modified by our genetic relationships. These relationships have historical roots inherited through generations..

Do we move among unseen genetic ties which stem from historical events?This is an interesting idea and one that receives support from numerous cultural traditions including the Maori understanding of whakapapa. Related ideas have been articulated by Rupert Sheldrake. The philosophers of ancient India name this phenomenon ‘family dharma’—the destiny of families. We have individual purposes, but also collective purposes. Dharma also refers to that which is right action. Family well being is said to be secured through the right action of its members. Our historical connections are said to be both unfathomable, yet fundamental to the health of society. The highest individual dharma is considered to be ‘knowing the self’ something that finds echoes in almost every cultural tradition from the Socrates’ injunction to ‘know thyself’ to Christ ‘the Kingdom of God is within you’.

We are at a crossroads. We need to find safe ways ahead.

Last year I spoke at a conference on the topic “Twenty Reasons the Biotechnology Paradigm should Be Rejected” explaining that biotechnology is inherently mutagenic. It would be a mistake to think that the fundamental risks of genetic modification can be fixed by more advanced or supposedly exact technology such CRISPR techniques. Today we know this to be a false flag. A paper published in November 2022 by the Karolinska Institute shows that CRISPR/cas9 techniques lead to unpredictable on-target genetic rearrangement which can interfere with vital cellular gene repair mechanisms.

Gene-based bio-manufacturing is similarly inexact and inherently risky. Poor batch uniformity and contamination has plagued the mRNA Covid vaccine rollout. These problems are not fixable, because genes are dynamically self-replicating. Without the tight regulatory mechanisms inherent in natural in-vivo cells of the physiology, problems can and do rapidly multiply during the bio-manufacturing processes in unpredictable and uncontrollable ways.

On the other side, more and more research is revealing the benefits of a natural diet and lifestyle. I think you will agree that reductions in indicators measuring societal problems like rates of crime, hospitalisation and accidents, along with improvements in measures of well-being like economic activity, happiness, longevity, freedom from chronic illness, etc. should be yardsticks to measure the success of governments. There is no doubt that we are failing on these right now.

This is not going to be a choice where anyone can sit on the sidelines or play both sides. Two paths are diverging. One offers the supposed convenience of pills and shots. It entails long term dependency on biotechnology which carries with it a high rate of side effects. The other requires a more focused and committed approach to the routines of daily life and new personal skills.

Despite this, the apparent choice of life paths that we face could be to a large extent an illusion. Biotech interventions are already a part of veterinary protocols and widely used in agriculture, whereby they are entering our food supply. Genetic material is highly mobile. The pandemic should have taught us that genetic modification is uncontainable. NZ tried its best to escape the pandemic by closing its borders. It didn’t work. From this perspective there is really no way out of the impending tsunami of genetic mutation except Global Legislation Outlawing Biotechnology Experimentation

My purpose in writing this article is to suggest that we have just been treated as a society to mRNA injections which are designed to alter the way DNA expresses itself. This has been a mass genetic intervention. This appears to have modified the subtle connections that support the health of the individual, the family, and society. Setting this right may include improvements to our diet and an approach to education that enables us to develop our consciousness, but it must also include a ban on biotech experimentation. Modern life, government interventions, and computer technology are weakening the bonds of family and community, leading to a greater sense of isolation. We need to stick together.

We have been talking in this article about the constitutional principles of nature, how biological systems are set up and how they function. These are not principles that can be altered by government decree or modified by political ideas, but they can be disrupted by genetic modification. A future article will include a discussion of ways in which gene therapies can directly alter the way we think.

At stake here is our genetic integrity and our connection with the universal. Body and mind are two sides of one coin, both in need of protection and nourishment.

The opening sentence of the abstract reveals the premise of the article: “Performing effective gene-editing experiments requires a deep understanding of both the CRISPR technology and the biological system involved.” Read on and it becomes clear that the authors believe that their A.I. system known as CRISPR-GPT will make better choices than humans when it comes to chopping up DNA. “The [CRISPR-GPT] ‘Auto mode’… does not adhere to a predefined task order. Users submit a freestyle request, and the LLM (Large Language Model) Planner decomposes this into tasks, manages their interdependence, builds a customised workflow and executes them automatically.”

‘Automation’ equates with rapid genetic modification on a scale previously unimagined, even by relatively unskilled workers. The decision making process in CRISPR-GPT is based on a paltry 3,000 question and answer pairs which have been mined from archived scientific discussions between real life researchers. To demonstrate its power the article reports a trial in which two junior researchers unfamiliar with gene editing were guided by the system to perform multi-gene knock outs and epigenetic editing with 80% accuracy.

Almost in passing the article notes the system could be abused to create bioweapons, such as genetically engineered viruses (???). To supposedly mitigate this, the system triggers the following steps when it considers there is sufficient risk: (1) displays a warning note when proceeding with human gene-editing experiments; (2) provides a link to the international moratorium with an explanatory note; and (3) asks users to confirm that they understand the risks and have read the international guidelines before proceeding. As if a warning note equivalent to the advertising of road safety standards will be sufficient to stop someone intent on biotech mischief (aka destroying the world).

Let’s just remember one little mistake in gene editing can lead to inheritable disease which can never be contained, recalled or mitigated.

It is probably clear to you that the process of human thinking does not rely on a countable number of Q&As. As we have previously discussed in our article “What is Natural Law”, the complexity and subtlety of human intelligence has been greatly underestimated by A.I. researchers. This is not just by an order of magnitude, A.I. misses the fundamentals of conscious (and unconscious) processes. In turn biotechnology has no coherent understanding of how our genetics supports the expression of consciousness. As a result the capacity for error in A.I. driven biotech systems is huge and unquantifiable. In other words mistakes are inevitable but on a scale and with a significance far greater than anything seen previously.

The Gene Technology Bill will import into NZ novel risks not just to our health but to our mind. It appears that our parliament has no idea what they are rubber stamping to pass across our borders into the daily life of the nation.

How much will the Gene Technology Bill cost the nation?

The other day I asked my family how much NZ may have to pay to employ ‘experts’ in artificial intelligence and biotechnology if the Gene Technology Bill is passed? One relative guessed an average salary of $120,000 a year, while another smelled a rat and shot for one million a year. It was of course a trick question, designed to shock my audience at home. I already knew the answer, NZ $425 million over four years for each employee with an upfront $170 million in the first year, as reported by an article in the NY Times. This is the package recently agreed between Meta and 24 year old A.I. researcher Matt Deitke. It does make the $75,000 pay of nurses look a little undervalued, especially when they are people who actually help save lives, rather than just make promises and mistakes.

That the US views NZ as a satellite province was amply underlined this week when the FBI, whose remit and responsibilities mainly focus on domestic US matters, opened a branch office in Wellington. This was described by the FBI Director Kash Patel as an “historic moment”. Patel’s visit included a meeting with spy master Judith Collins who is also the chief architect of the Gene Technology Bill. Patel said he was truly humbled with the open reception and promised to work together on some of the most important global issues of our time. All this reveals just how we might expect NZ’s relationship with the US to unfold if the Gene Technology Bill passes. NZ will be paying astronomical sums to US patent holders of A.I. and biotechnology processes. In return, our nation will be exposed to an unprecedented increase in computer driven biotechnology experimentation on our food and medicine involving a risk to life—the pandemic years replayed with a massive increase in scale.

We are in danger of losing the fight for the right to choose

If you are still hoping to win the battle against the usual suspects including processed foods, glyphosate, fluoridation, arms manufacturers and vaccine mandates, think again, because the goal posts of the technological battlefield are being rapidly moved. This week the Health Select Committee is due to report on the Gene Technology Bill, its implications are set to radically change our lives, sufficient to challenge any pre-existing sense of normality. As you probably already know, a clause in the Bill automates the adoption of gene technology:

“Mandatory medical activity authorisations: for a human medicine that is or contains gene technology that has been approved by at least two recognised overseas gene technology regulators.”

Just what this will mean for us became very clear this week because of measures approved in the US, which, under the NZ Gene Technology Bill, we would be required to automatically adopt. According to a July 1st press release from Flagship Pioneering (the biotech firm that founded Moderna and enjoys close ties with multiple US Government agencies), it has launched a new company called Terrana Biosciences to spray crops with RNA, designed to “actually go inside the plant,” move through its internal systems, persist under extreme environmental conditions, and become “heritable across plant generations,” using synthetic RNA constructs generated from “a vast library of RNAs” built with “advanced AI and computational models.” In other words, it plans to pollute our entire food chain.

In another development, EcoHealth Alliance’s DEFUSE proposal to the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is under renewed scrutiny for detailing plans to spray aerosolized chimeric coronavirus spike proteins, immune modulators, and self-spreading vaccines over human and animal populations using drones.

You may remember that EcoHealth Alliance is the company that initiated the gain of function research at Wuhan Virology Laboratory that almost certainly resulted in the creation of Covid. The new alliance between A.I. and biotechnology experimentation means that tens of thousands of experiments investigating novel genetic combinations can be rapidly and simultaneously initiated. Dwarfing previous research and multiplying the risks. The current global push of the biotechnology industry is to ensure these projects can go ahead without obstructive regulation. In other words, we are entering an era of unfettered experimentation on human populations.

The PREP Act empowers the U.S. government to secretly administer such drugs and vaccines, biological products, and medical devices to the public during a declared emergency—without consent, geographic limits, legal accountability, or any obligation to disclose such actions.

The NZ Gene Technology Bill has a parallel provision:

“Emergency authorisations: when there is an actual or imminent threat to the health and safety of people or to the environment, for example, threat from a disease outbreak, or an industrial spillage, the Minister responsible for the Gene Technology Act will have the power to grant an emergency authorisation.”

From this you can see just how quickly alarming invasive biotech medical and agricultural products approved in the US, such as the above, will be reciprocally authorised in NZ if the Gene Technology Bill passes.

How is this happening to us and why do the general public appear to be unconcerned?

Let’s take a breath, step back for a moment and consider that the potent combination of A.I. and biotechnology has assumed a central role in a new political, quasi-scientific, medical and social ideology that during the pandemic elevated itself to the status of a faith. The acceptance it enjoys and the control it exerts over populations is not due to the kind of totalitarian measures that Hitler or Stalin wielded, but rather to the projection of a captivating but false narrative of a bright future if you comply. Something worthy of the dystopian visions of the wholly compliant technological societies described by Orwell and Huxley.

In essence, the central mistake in the new faith involves the confluence of two completely false ideas:

1) the origin and meaning of life is entirely contained in a sequence of genetic letters in a single molecule (DNA) which can be safely edited and manipulated to make all aspects of life better. This is an impoverished vision of life that fails to account for either consciousness or the known real world adverse effects of gene editing.

2) Computers which are unconscious and only have access to data and algorithms that have been inputted during the information age can make better and safer decisions than wakeful human minds. An absurdly uninformed dismissal of human genius and potential.

This new faith involves leaving common sense behind (as well as reason and rationality) whilst rushing towards the flame like a moth.

An article in the UK Guardian entitled “Demand for weight loss drugs is becoming unsustainable, say pharmacists” illustrates just how many people have adopted the new religion. A survey found that in addition to the one million Brits currently paying privately to take weight loss injections Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy, a further 21% have tried to get hold of them during the last year (that’s 10 million people). This figure spirals to 35% among 18-35 year olds. Capping that, the survey found that a staggering 65% of 25-34 year olds would use them if they were free on the NHS.

The vast majority of these people are not clinically overweight, they are simply ‘worried well’ and apparently unaware of the very common and very serious adverse effects of the injections.

Equally alarming is the rapid adoption of A.I. in education. An article in the NY Times entitled “A.I.-Driven Education: Founded in Texas and Coming to a School Near You” reports that a method of schooling children solely through Artificial Intelligence is set to be replicated across the country this fall. This is the latest facet of educational computerisation that is putting children in front of screens rather than human teachers and denying them crucial socialisation skills while suppressing their ability to think critically. The move in part reflects the lobbying by Big Tech companies which is cutting red tape surrounding the implementation of AI technology. Something that has the full support of Trump’s A.I. Action Plan.

A couple of years ago I was talking with the teenage son of a neighbour who told me that everybody in his high school uses A.I. to write their assignments. Just how damaging this can be is illustrated by an investigation undertaken by the Guardian. A business school professor from Sweden confirmed to the Guardian “While companies are using AI to reduce costs, students are using it for all uni work and to replace thinking, and are subsequently de-optimising themselves for future jobs.”

“Being able to write well and think coherently were basic requirements in most graduate jobs 10, 15 years ago,” said a senior recruitment professional at a large consultancy firm from London. “Now, they are emerging as basically elite skills. Almost nobody can do it. We see all the time that people with top degrees cannot summarise the contents of a document, cannot problem solve.”

Various employers and professionals in HR and management positions interviewed by the Guardian reported that university leavers they encountered often struggled to speak on the phone or in meetings, take notes with a pen, relay messages precisely or complete written tasks without internet access. In other words, they are all but unemployable and unsuited to the jobs they aspire to.

Fortunately, acceptance of new technology is not universal, at least there is some dissent. Following the pandemic, those with doubts and reservations are certainly a significant minority. Unfortunately, there are ways of bypassing or fooling the noncompliant. The prophets and guardians of the new religion are not only from technology fields but also from the media, politics, and health who between them control the mainstream narrative and take decisions on behalf of the many.

Whether they can rise to assume totalitarian control depends on provisions in the Gene Technology Bill which aim to prevent the public knowing what they are eating or being exposed to. It will do so by falsely classifying most gene editing as equivalent to natural processes and also failing to mandate gene product labelling. In other words, the Bill is promising us the earth but denying us information about what will actually happen to us and the known serious risks involved.

The dangers should be obvious, but the new faith is blind to the truth

That Covid vaccines were neither safe nor effective should have been obvious to those who received them and then contracted Covid time and again. Covid mRNA injections were clearly undeserving of the title ‘vaccine’, they prevented little or nothing and left millions of people sick or dead, but the WHO public narrative turned these simple personal experiences and assessments on their head, wrongly assuring us that 14.4 million people escaped death as a result of Covid vaccination.

Last week a paper published by JAMA reduced the WHO estimate to 2.5 million, but it still wasn’t anywhere near the whole truth. Examine for a moment the cumulative excess deaths in Japan for example, as reported by Our World in Data.

There is no inkling here that biotechnology saved any lives whatsoever, it took lives. Whether these were the result of a biotech generated disease or a biotech generated vaccine is immaterial. 350,000 Japanese excess deaths up to February 2024 and rising steeply. If the trend has continued since, the total will have pushed up towards 600,000 by the present time. Around 0.5% of the population swept away, greater than forty times the toll of the 2011 tsunami. A press conference called this month by a large group of concerned scientists pointed out that peaks in excess deaths among 21 million official health records correspond neatly to a period of 90-120 days following Covid vaccination and boosters—a times series approach to data analysis which offers the strongest statistical proof of causality yet.

The risks to the whole structure of western civilisation should be obvious, but somehow we are sleepwalking to disaster. We need to wake up. I’ll say that again, we need to wake up from a nightmare. Waking up has become a vital survival strategy in the modern world. When the communist dream became an obvious economic and social failure, those in charge prioritised their personal comfort and wealth at the expense of their people. We have reached a similar stage, the biotech research programs we cited earlier show that the failed mRNA technology is being repackaged in a way that ensures everyone’s exposure whether we assent or not, whether through the food we eat or from the skies. Since the technology doesn’t work and provably takes lives, the whole endeavour must be solely to satisfy a voracious appetite for profit or possibly an apocalyptic urge to spread suffering and death. Neither of which are strangers to the technological world in which spiritual endeavour and experience are undervalued. In the modern technological world we should not forget that there are people seeking to defraud us by editing and degrading the precise natural holistic genetic structure of our DNA which supports the capacity of our body to maintain health and our mind to know and value the truth. A nightmare which must be ended.

At the Ministry of Social Development for example the average number of sick days taken by employees was 12 days in 2021 (year to 30 June), 13 days in 2022, and 15 days in 2023 and 2024. The comparable figure for 2019 was 4.7 sick days. In other words, in some sectors, rates of sickness have tripled among working age people since 2019. Let’s unpack what this means for the future direction of our nation.

Damning insurance statistics

Why are people taking more sick days off work? Apparently the government believes that the increases are the result of people becoming work shy. As a result they have been considering halving paid sick leave entitlement, but the correct answer is very simple: more people are unwell and the numbers are unprecedented.

The Annual Results Summary by Southern Cross insurers up to 30 June 2024 reports that in 2019 33% (one third) of its members made a health claim under their policies. In 2024, 50% (half) claimed. That represents a whooping 50% increase in sickness or to put it more starkly, 158,000 more sick Southern Cross clients. Since Southern Cross only covers 20% of the NZ population, this figure scales up to a massive 788,000 more sick Kiwis in 2024 compared to 2019. That is an extra 15% of the population getting sick in 2024 who wouldn’t have been ill in 2019.

The surge in Southern Cross health claims in 2024 led to an $88 million dollar loss despite the fact that their health insurance premiums rose by 9% for the year. The loss was due in part to claimants suffering more serious illness requiring more expensive medical interventions than before. Surgical procedures were up 8% and specialist appointments up 7.2%.

National health care is in crisis

Here in NZ and elsewhere governments are busy keeping the details out of public view, but data released by the British Heart Foundation spells out the crisis in stark terms. Deaths from heart disease (the leading cause of death) are rising for the first time in 50 years, according to the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The proportion of adults of working age dying from heart disease has risen by 12 per cent since 2020. This is a reversal of a long-standing downward trend and marks the first significant rise in deaths from conditions such as stroke and heart attack in a generation, the charity said. Bryan Williams, an NHS consultant physician and chief scientific and medical officer of the British Heart Foundation, said:

“There are now around 420 deaths per week from heart disease and stroke, which is horrific. It has set us back 10 or 15 years in terms of the progress we had been making.”

Comparable official figures for cancer (the second leading cause of death) have so far not been made available past 2022, but reports from leading cancer specialists in the UK and USA point to a similar recent surge in cases, nullifying the previous trend of improved cancer outcomes.

It all began in 2021

The implications won’t be lost on my readers if I note that the rise in serious disease rates began in 2021. The latest available 31st March 2025 StatsNZ All Cause Deaths data for NZ shows that the rate of deaths per 100,000 population is still 4.2% above the pre-pandemic average which represents 1,400 excess deaths per year which are not predicted by the pre-pandemic trends. This is more than four times the annual death toll from road accidents in NZ, more than the annual global death toll from aircraft accidents and more than the current casualty figures in Tehran, all of which are rightly absorbing concerned media attention.

In contrast, governments and the media continue to ignore a global disease epidemic which is affecting working age people, families and stretching health services past their elastic limit. The media is sensationalising the human tragedies involved, but it’s not considering the possible causes. The real cause should be obvious. The year 2021 speaks loudly, but its voice is falling on deaf ears. Whether Covid infection or Covid vaccines are at fault is immaterial, the massive continuing death toll is the result of biotechnology experimentation.

As Bob Dylan reflected in his song Hard Rains are Going to Fall, we are living in times where “the executioner’s face is always well hidden.. where souls are forgotten”

NZ was one of the first nations in the world to implement and fund a national health service beginning in 1938. Our present government appears to be building a callous disregard for health into our health service. Sweeping some self evident truths under the carpet as they point the finger of blame at the population itself, labelling the whole country work shy. Or, as they are doing at ACC (the Accident Compensation Commission which insures all Kiwis), instituting a policy of denial. The ACC is routinely mislabelling vaccine injury claims as caused by an until now little known medical term “Functional Neurological Disorder” and then denying liability for life altering neurological symptoms that appeared in thousands of people after Covid mRNA vaccination (read more about this here). The massive global death toll, which should have been laid at the feet of biotechnology, amounts to tens of millions of lost souls whose fate is being ignored, a number still growing daily.

So where are governments placing their trust and what are they investing in on our behalf?

An article in the UK Guardian is entitled “AI boom means regulator cannot predict future water shortages in England". Datacentres for AI are a pivotal part of the UK government’s growth strategy. PM Keir Starmer announced this year that he would hugely increase AI capacity and reduce planning restrictions on companies that wanted to build datacentres by setting up “growth zones” with fewer constraints. These giant banks of computer chips over heat rapidly and require constant cooling to prevent the servers failing which uses up water. So much water, that UK citizens may have to go thirsty as a result. One study estimates that global AI could account for up to 6.6bn cubic metres of water use by 2027 – the equivalent of nearly two-thirds of England’s annual water consumption. The UK Environment Agency chairman, Alan Lovell, told the Guardian: “The nation’s water resources are under huge and steadily increasing pressure. This deficit threatens not only the water from your tap but also economic growth and food production.”

AI, like our politicians. speaks with assurance on topics about which it knows almost nothing, distorting the whole field of knowledge

At some point while writing this article I wanted to check my understanding that NZ was indeed among the first to implement a national health service. I asked Google and its AI summary replied (and I quote in full):

“No, New Zealand was not the very first country to establish a national health service. While it was one of the first to implement a universal, tax-funded healthcare system in 1938, the United Kingdom had already introduced the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948.”

I don’t wish to mock progress, but is this the fruit of billions of dollars of government and private investment? Is this what we going to sacrifice our economy and food supply for? We are able to realise that 1938 came before 1948 without too much trouble and the water supply requirements of our human brains are minimal indeed. Just as we can see that a tsunami of illness starting in 2021 has something to do with the global rollout of a novel biotech vaccine.

A NY Times article is entitled "They Asked an A.I. Chatbot Questions. The Answers Sent Them Spiraling." It reports “conversations with AI technology can deeply distort reality.” People are going mad a a result. In one example reported by the Times, “a Mr Torres thought of ChatGPT as a powerful search engine that knew more than any human possibly could because of its access to a vast digital library. He did not know that it tended to be sycophantic, agreeing with and flattering its users, or that it could hallucinate, generating ideas that weren’t true but sounded plausible.” The article continues to document how his AI conversation led him to spiral into delusional mental illness.

Since the April 1968 release of 2001 A Space Odyssey and the November 1977 release of Star Wars we have been offered an unrelenting diet of futuristic technology controlled by computers in which severely ill or injured people are brought back to health better than before. It has become accepted orthodoxy to pretend that some kind of miraculous technological age of health, happiness and longevity is just around the corner. I profoundly disagree for what seems to me to be a very obvious reason—at the root of every technological advance and scientific understanding there is a human mind. If we do want a bright future, the technological frontier we need to cross is that of consciousness which quite fortunately is very close to home, our own self.

Coming back home to the Self

We will not be the first to cross this frontier, nor the last. The history of the world throughout the ages records and honours high points of human achievement as exemplars of thinking and behaviour. Behind the stories of right thinking and moral behaviour, are personal heights of expanded and elevated consciousness. The burning question of our age is ‘How were these heights of consciousness reached?’ Circumstances are dictating the need for an answer to this question as never before in history. Without one we are doomed.

Fortunately the answers are not far away. Quantum Cosmology explains the emergence of space time and the universe itself as the result of the sequential interplay between observer, observed, and observer-observed relationship. Placing the organising power of the universe within the reach of the human mind, but of course out of the reach of any conceivable computer.

By its very nature the knowledge of consciousness can never be lost. Consciousness is self-illuminant. It knows itself. The rush of modern life is so overwhelming that our inner self is overshadowed, but it is only a matter of settling down in the silence of meditation for the reality of life to unfold itself to itself. The Gospel of St Thomas described the process as “a movement and a rest”. The organising power of the Cosmos is contained in the process of coming to rest.

The Bhagavad Gita, recorded over five thousand years ago in response to a global crisis which culminated in war, offers this simple formula for meditation.

“In this no effort is lost and no obstacle exists. Even a little of this delivers from great fear.” continuing, it advises the aspirant to dive within and reach the silent source of the material qualities which guide the relative world—known as the process of transcending.

With continued and repeated practice of retiring within, the deep power of transcendental silence clarifies itself in human awareness. As Wordsworth said “We see into the life of things” and participate in “the deep power of joy”. This is not an imagination but the permanent and lasting achievement of a life well lived.

There are many things to be known in life and many responsibilities to shoulder, but none among these can be achieved to their full extent without knowing the self, which is found to be the self of all. Paradoxically there is a great opportunity at this time of crisis to rise above it all. The global conflicts and confusion we are all now facing and will face in coming times can be met and resolved with the self by our side. Enmity and conflict with ancient roots can resolved with an awareness of the self we all share. The courage to change and the power to make the right choices in the variety of circumstances we encounter as we journey through life is the fruit of self knowledge. This is the final truth about the unity of existence. It is within us all calling out to be realised and lived.
