I wish you comfort, fellow traveler. The Dolly kind we know of comfort: a sweet song, a joke in the wrong place or the insistence of stopping for a meal. Saying “hello” to the stranger in your midst. With a. smile.

The metaphysics of comfort.

They didn’t divide reality into the natural and the supernatural.

There was simply the seen...

and the unseen.

Both existed together.

Do you know what a thin place is? The phrase comes from the Celts of Ireland and Scotland. It describes those rare places where the boundary between the seen world and the unseen world feels remarkably delicate. As though the veil between them has become so thin that you can almost step through it.

Most people have experienced a thin place, even if they didn’t have words for it. Sometimes it’s as simple as walking somewhere and suddenly thinking, I don’t want to be here. Other times it’s quite the opposite. You stop in your tracks and quietly whisper, Something is different here.

Those moments ask us to pay a particular attention.

Some people experience them emotionally. Others intuitively. A few become so sensitive to the subtle world that they begin to perceive realities that seem to exist just beyond ordinary awareness. They do cuddle up around us and give us a blanket of sweetness, often; sometimes it’s a pending reality in 3D to protect. Our entries into the Otherworlds are guided and over seen. We are opening up to multidimensional consciousness… that awakened condition we’ve Understood was opening up now.

In Ireland, people simply learned to live with these experiences. The Irish never stopped speaking to trees, to nature. They regularly see and they gave them a name …

Thin Places.

To me, a thin place is like standing in a doorways of extraordinary invitations. They invite us to expand our consciousness without leaving the world behind. Three-dimensional reality isn’t disappearing. We’re still wonderfully human. We still have dishes to wash, gardens to tend, bills to pay, and bodies that occasionally land us in hospitals.

Every so often we discover that reality …

A thin place is like standing in a doorway. One foot remains firmly planted in the everyday world. The other begins to sense something larger.

Perhaps we are brushing against the astral landscape.

Perhaps we are touching ancestral memory.

Perhaps we are simply becoming quiet enough to hear the intelligence already present within Nature.

Whatever is happening, the experience enlarges us.

And perhaps that is why thin places matter so much today. During times of tremendous change, they remind us that consciousness itself is still evolving. One thing I’ve noticed over many years is that thin places are almost always grounded in Nature.

An old tree.

A spring or well in the woods.

A lonely stretch of shoreline in the winter.

A mountain path leading to a grove that somehow feels older than time itself.

A thin place is an exceptional doorway between the seen world and the unseen world.

“Thin places” is my memory of the doorway. After that could come trees, holy wells, scent, sacred sites, ancestors, dreams, and the GrandMothers. Together, they become not a collection of mystical ideas, but a map for living in relationship with the living world.ry

This is a signal to watch for and embrace the boundary consciousness flexability now. It’s an exercise in the mental emotional landscape to understand the way the world is beginning to wag. Make friends with a little patch in the woods. Or a pond, along it’s shoreline. If you look for it, it will happen. Step through.

When I was young, my nightstand was a clean top. It held a single book. Maybe a few odds and ends from my pockets, little treasures gathered during the week. That’s all.

When I was young, my reading table wasn’t such a clusterfuck. When I was young, I was eager to read all the books I collected. These days, at seventy, many of them sit three-quarters finished, waiting patiently beside dozens of others. Somehow that seems fitting.

When I was young, I spent my time as though it were endless pocket. I spent my time like I spent thrift..

I didn’t linger at my bedroom window in the night to sip the night-blooming jasmine. I didn’t brave the beach in the middle of the day simply to watch the sea speak to the horizon or the waves to dare me in fully clothed.

When I was young, I bought bottles filled with scent without realizing what I was truly reaching for. Years later, those scents sit with me, no longer perfumes alone, but companions, memory keepers, teachers.

When I was young, I didn’t see children the way I cherish them now. I smiled at them, certainly, but I did not yet capture the miracle they carry simply by arriving to continue the world. Even as the angels told me the precious light of the child.

When I was young, I was open to ideas that once seemed strange. Politically, spiritually, culturally, I entertained possibilities. Somewhere through the collection of years, certainty can’t quietly replace curiosity … but I’m careful. Now I find myself clinging once again to hope, and to the openness that first taught me to wonder. As a GrandMother, an Elder I can share so much important information and work. That’s how the years have opened.

When I was young, I was inexperienced. As the years climbed, my experience stretched. But experience doesn’t always stretch the heart. Sometimes it narrows it. That may be one of aging’s greatest lessons ,to keep growing an open heart without allowing it to become closed.

Now Ive crossed the threshold into Elder. Elder should be a verb.

My nightstand is cluttered with remedies and prescriptions, tiny atomizers of flower essences and oils, skin creams, reading glasses, notebooks, and that impossible-to-find foam soap they send you home with from the hospital that somehow makes life just a little easier. And my iPhone.

My reading table is a glorious mess. But I read so much more. I write so much more. I notice so much more. I quench my thirst for jasmine. I watch children and it brings me a fullness I’m surprised over ever time... I collect fragrances because I know their stories. I understand that books are companions, not accomplishments.

Maybe the ‘young’ wasn’t meant to be my richer season in life.

Maybe that’s sitting in my lap waiting to be given the illumination that will inspire again.

Strawberry Full Moon arrives on tonight reaching its peak at 7:56 p.m. EDT. It’s the first Full Moon of summer, and this year it is especially significant because it coincides with the beginning of Mercury Retrograde in Cancer just hours earlier.

Tonight the Strawberry Moon rises, not because it glows pink or red, it rises because for generations Indigenous peoples of North America recognized this Full Moon as the season when wild strawberries first ripened. It’s a moon of sweetness earned. A moon that reminds us that life offers its gifts only after a season of growth, patience, and faithful tending.

This Full Moon arrives during a time when the world itself feels suspended between endings and beginnings. We are witnessing old systems straining under their own weight while entirely new ways of living, caring, and relating to one another quietly take root beneath our feet. The sky is not asking us to fight harder. It is asking us to mature.

Under this pinkness a rose quartz is the best choice of crystal to work with. It is in our character.

Let’s not forget the breath between moments of cruelty exploding on the world front … with Jupiter turning into Leo; an influence of creative sweetness and abundant luck with courageous self expression. It’s a time of stepping up, of speaking your truth with care and thoughtfulness. Celebrate your individual nature!

There is something profoundly feminine about this moon. It invites us to nurture rather than conquer, to gather rather than divide, to remember that community has always been humanity’s greatest medicine. This moon calls the Goddess, the feminine authority. Like the first strawberries shared among families after a long season of waiting, generosity becomes sacred under this light. The smallest offering; a smile, a meal, a listening ear, a prayer for the Earth becomes part of the larger weaving of life.

Spend a little time outdoors beneath her light if you are able. Listen to the evening birds. Feel the warmth still held within the stones beneath your feet. Breathe with the trees. Let the fragrance of flowers or your favorite essential oil remind your nervous system that Nature has never stopped speaking. She has simply been waiting for us to become quiet enough to hear.

This isn’t a moon for striving. It is a moon for ripening.

As pagans and animists, the masculine has never been primarily defined by dominance. There are certainly examples within portions of the Greco-Roman and Celt pantheons where power and hierarchy appear, yet in the broader pagan and animist worldview, the masculine is honored as a sacred force that protects, creates, sustains, and serves life. Think of the standing oak, sacred to the Druid.

The gods embody aspects of nature itself: the sun, the forests, the mountains, the storms, the animals, wisdom, fertility, craftsmanship, and guardianship. They are living expressions of nature’s strength, courage, stewardship, and responsibility. Think of the community care the horned god lives for.

This stands in stark contrast to the ideology now being labeled masculinism.

Masculinism seeks to create and maintain a dominant social order. It promotes male authority as the organizing principle of society and views the advancement of women as a threat rather than a partnership. At its most extreme, it seeks to return women to a position of dependency and subservience. Think of chattel.

The Sacred Masculine is relationship.

Masculinism is hierarchy.

The Sacred Masculine serves life.

Masculinism seeks control and most times, above all … profit.

In pagan and animist traditions including the most Indigenous communities, gods are teachers of right action and right relationship. They demonstrate protection without domination, strength without cruelty, and leadership without oppression. They devote themselves to community and partnership with the feminine. True power is measured not by what one controls, but by what one nurtures and protects.

The gods remind us of service to the well-being of the whole … they don’t teach domination over the feminine.

Recently, Helen Lewis’s Atlantic article, The Men Who Don’t Want Women to Vote, offered an illuminating examination of the rise of masculinism in contemporary culture. Lewis describes a movement seeking to reestablish male dominance in politics, culture, family life, and the workplace. She argues that anti-feminism has become a powerful unifying force among many factions of the contemporary political right, a foundation of Christian nationalism.

Her concern isn’t simply an ideological disagreement. She observes a growing movement openly questioning women’s political equality, challenging women’s social gains, and seeking to reestablish ‘traditional hierarchies’. This isn’t confined to the fringe. Through social media, podcasts, influencers, and online communities, masculinist rhetoric is increasingly reaching young men and boys. It often uses shock value, outrage, and provocation to attract attention. Feminism is blamed for everything from declining birth rates to family instability and social change.

“Feminization” has become an explanation for nearly everything

Lewis describes how some writers in the movement attribute perceived social decline, bureaucratic culture, political correctness, and “wokeness” to increasing female influence in public life. She argues that this becomes a catch-all theory used to explain diverse social frustrations.

The concern isn’t merely the politics. It is the underlying worldview. This worldview sees partnership as weakness. A worldview that sees care as secondary to conquest. This worldview values profit over life, most highly.

Masculinism

Lewis’ Atlantic article identifies several policy ambitions promoted by masculinist thinkers, including:

· rolling back no-fault divorce,

· privileging traditional male breadwinner households,

· opposing diversity and inclusion initiatives,

· favoring traditional gender roles in employment and family life,

· and in some cases advocating preferential treatment for men in hiring and promotion.

We can see the consequences of that worldview all around us. We are living through an age of environmental collapse, social fragmentation, and spiritual exhaustion. The living world itself bears the scars of 6000 years of exploitation, mainly in war, serving profit and power in leadership influenced mainly by masculinism.

It’s not more domination that will heal this world.

It’s relationship. It’s a balance between modern feminism and masculine identity.

One of the most beautiful examples of the masculine within pagan and animist traditions can be found in our relationship with trees. Often, there are Grandfather Trees; ancient elders whose presence offers steadiness, wisdom, and continuity. As pagans, we are a community of people when facing illness or despair find healing through a deep relationship with the natural world. Sitting with trees, listening, learning patience, remembering their place within a living web of existence. This is the life, the community we create. That’s Sacred Masculine energy. Not conquest, or control. Presence.

In many Indigenous traditions throughout North America, Grandfather Sun watches over and sustains life. In ancient Egypt, Ra carried the sun across the sky each day. Throughout human history, masculine deities have often represented the sustaining powers of nature itself. They have been an invitation into integrity. Into courage. Into responsibility. Into reverence for all our relations.

The Sacred Masculine isn’t opposed to the Sacred Feminine. Neither is complete without the other. Eldest pagan traditions understood that life flourishes through reciprocity, balance, and relationship. The Great Rite. Gods and Goddesses together reveal the wholeness of existence. Each carries gifts needed in our world. And there is a genuine call right now to men of all ages to address the loneliness, economic uncertainty, loss of status, and social disconnection. Lewis argues that masculinist leaders often redirect these concerns toward resentment of women rather than addressing underlying economic and cultural causes or any proven solutions.

As members of a community that places dedication and commitment on a reverence for and healing of the living world we are responsible to acknowledge, as Lewis put it, a growing ideological force that mixes resentment, identity politics, cultural criticism, and policy ambitions, and therefore deserves to be taken seriously.

Supporting our Fathers, teachers, leadership authority of our Mothers is vital in representing the balance and relationship we need now to heal Gaia, the crisis of care humanity sits in now.

Choose and bring to an open place in nature the following items…

• A stone that speaks with you

• A small, fat candle like a large votive (gold, green or white)

Ladies, so many of us, and perhaps our mothers before us, have spent the last several decades reclaiming pieces of ourselves that earlier generations were often asked to surrender, including our voice, vocation, intuition, authority, creativity, spiritual identity, and the right to define their own lives. She can nurture others while maintaining healthy boundaries around her own energy and well-being. She has learned that saying “no” can be as sacred as saying “yes.” The Sovereign Woman is no longer trying to prove her worth. She is learning to inhabit it. She is the Shero.

She’s increasingly connected to the wisdom of her body, her intuition, and her lived experience. Rather than seeking to imitate old models of authority, she is helping create new ones rooted in cooperation, empathy, authenticity, and mutual respect cross culturally.

Many Sovereign Women have also become bridge-builders between worlds. They carry professional knowledge alongside spiritual insight. They embrace science without abandoning mystery. They honor ancestry while consciously shaping the future. They understand that strength and tenderness are not opposites but companions.

As women move into elderhood, the Sovereign Woman often matures into the GrandMother archetype … the one who has gathered experience, survived many seasons, and now offers her guidance without control. Her presence reminds others that wisdom isn’t measured by youth or status, but by depth of understanding and generosity of spirit. Sovereign Women stand as a living expression of personal responsibility, self-awareness, and conscious choice. She knows that freedom is not the absence of relationship; it is the ability to enter relationship without abandoning oneself.

She isn’t perfect.

She is becoming.

At precisely the proper timing for needful leadership to step in.

Perhaps that’s her greatest gift to the world: the courage to continually grow, to continually learn, and to continually claim the fullness of her own voice. The Sovereign Woman is the woman who remembers that she belongs to herself and from that place of wholeness, offers her gifts to the world. Our information systems are under pressure. We’re seeing distortions in media, technology, and communication. This New Moon asks us to pause and look carefully at what is being said, what is being sold, and what is being repeated. Then reflecting inward … what are ours?

Gemini belongs to Air. Air is motion. Air is thought. Air is language. Air is information. It is the exchange between people, communities, and cultures. Air is the stories we tell. It’s the currency of the moment. Air is how ideas travel. As Mercury rules Gemini, this New Moon invites us to become conscious of the stories we are consuming and the stories we are creating. What do you know? What do you believe? What do you repeat? What do you teach?

As children, we learned through stories, movies, books, and television. We absorbed ideas about heroes, villains, success, failure, and what was possible. We learned who we were through narrative, equally as we did in family life. As adults, we’re still doing this. The stories around us continue to shape our expectations, our hopes, our fears, and our perception of reality. This New Moon reminds us that we can choose our stories consciously rather than inherit them unconsciously.

Positivity is not naivety. It is an act of discernment. A deeper truth is that all stories carry power. They inform what we expect, what we notice, and what we believe is possible. What we believe influences the future we create.

During this dark of the moon, it’s important to set intention. Plant mental seeds. Plant emotional seeds. Plant energetic seeds. What do you wish to grow?

Language is spirit.

Prepare to become deep divers now. This is the second full moon on May 31, 2026, a rare Micro Blue Moon moving through the sign of Sagittarius. This one ain’t easy at all. It dances in deeper space than the earlier moon of the month, carrying with it an atmosphere that proves expansive, revelatory, restless, and deeply initiatory. Here’s the deep water. The kind of water asking us to descend beneath the surface and discover what still lives on the cuff of Spirit.

This blue moon cycle initiates sudden revelations. Realizations arriving out of nowhere. New awareness surfacing through the cracks on the streets of the old ordinary life. This Sagittarius energy magnifies our impatience with false systems, and that includes governments, institutions, and structures that have long demanded our trust while offering very little nourishment in return. Since Sagittarius is a visionary fire sign, our dreams scream louder now. Ancestral symbolism rises. Cosmic imagery appears in meditation and sleep. It finds you standing alone at times, grounded in your own becoming while the world spins like a cyclone around you.

And the world is changing. That’s a long waited manifest moment.

We are moving through a profound collective restructuring. Broken patriarchal systems continue to expose themselves. Performative culture exhausts us. Humanity is hungry again for meaning, integrity, Earth-based intelligence, and ancestral memory. The old structures are trembling. Something ancient is trying to breathe again through the cracks.

So ask yourself honestly beneath this Sagittarius Blue Moon:

This is a moon holding fire ceremony, the inspired spoken intentions aloud beneath the stars, for divination, storytelling, and sacred wandering. It’s a moon that invites us back into relationship with the cosmos and with the unseen intelligences we began working with still surrounding us. Sacred sites become vital under this lunation. Remember, a sacred site doesn’t have to be distant. You can create one in your own backyard. You can sit at 3:00 in the morning on the edge of your bed speaking softly to your guides, asking them, “Do you remember when?” That too is ceremony. Have you guessed? Every thought is manifest, now. Engineering from multidimensions.

Scent work is especially powerful now because this moon is connected to sky and breath. The element of air moves strongly through this Blue Moon, making cleansing and clearing aromas especially supportive. Green cedar leaf, fir, White Sage, rosemary, all carry the feeling of purification and alignment. You don’t even need elaborate ritual. Crush the rosemary and White Sage gently between your palms and breathe into that fragrant chamber you have created with your own hands. There is medicine in simplicity.

Light a green candle for growth, renewal, and the crossing of thresholds. Because that’s what this moon truly is: a threshold crossing. For awakening and initiation, work with scents such as mugwort, Sweetgrass, juniperberry, tobacco, frankincense, and yarrow. These aromatic allies support visioning, grounding, nervous system steadiness, and spiritual communication while the fire of Sagittarius stretches open the inner horizon.

And perhaps the deeper medicine of this Blue Moon is this:

Sometimes the soul becomes restless not because something is wrong… but because it is time to widen the sky you are living beneath.

Carry a piece of Blue Tiger’s Eye in your pocket if you have one. Let it remind you that courage is not always loud. Sometimes courage is simply agreeing to continue the journey into deeper water.

It lives quietly in people who stop to listen when someone is breaking. This is the time to ‘be there’ for one another in the hands that reach back to help another stand. In strangers who carry each other through storms they did not create together. Building a plentiful tomorrow for us all.

It’s the nurse who softens fear with kindness. The friend who answers the phone at midnight. That neighbor who shares food. The protestor who protects the vulnerable. The teacher who sees the unseen child. The exhausted mother who still finds tenderness. The elder who remembers how to comfort with presence alone (no small trick).

We’re sold a daily a story of humanity being fractured, cruel, and divided. But beneath the noise, millions of small acts of goodness continue like hidden roots beneath the forest floor. Compassion is still moving through us. Care is still moving through us. Love insists on surviving.

Empathy isn’t weakness. It‘s evidence that the human heart still recognizes itself in another living being. Maybe that’s the great medicine of this era: not perfection, not conquest, but the refusal to stop feeling for one another.

In times of collapse, empathy becomes a form of light.

This New Moon asks us to create intentions for the rest of the year ahead. Not fantasies detached from reality, but practical manifestations rooted in the soil of everyday life. Taurus is teaching us that dreams deserve structure. It asks us to take those visions we have carried quietly in our back pockets and finally place them before us with honesty and commitment. What would it truly take to create the life you long for? What would it look like to nourish your own stability, comfort, creativity, and peace?

There is financial healing and stability available through this lunation, but Taurus reminds us not to obsess over lack. Instead, focus on the architecture of your desires. Venus in Gemini influences this lunation, bringing movement to communication, companionship, sensuality, and emotional exchange. In a world that has become overwhelmed with stress, fear, and exhaustion, this energy reminds us that companionship matters. Honest conversation matters. Shared laughter matters. Connection is medicine too.

Taurus energy also asks us to reconnect with our physical environment. Home. Body. Nature. The senses. This is an excellent New Moon for establishing self nourishing routines, improving your living space, strengthening savings goals, tending gardens, cooking beautiful meals, or simply allowing yourself moments of stillness without guilt. Security begins with the nervous system. Sometimes the first manifestation is simply allowing yourself to feel safe enough to dream again. Be kind enough to you this May to heal the buried wounds.

One of the most important things we can do during a Taurus New Moon is reconnect with the frequencies of nature surrounding us. Even while traveling, this connection is available. Looking out a car window at rolling land, watching clouds from an airplane, sitting quietly beneath a tree in a park … all of these are acts of reconnection. Nature hums with frequencies that interact directly with the human body and lightbody. The Earth is alive with transmission. When we soften ourselves enough to notice it, healing begins to happen.

This is an important time to remember that we are more than physical beings struggling through difficult times. We are energetic beings moving through multiple dimensions of consciousness at once. The lightbody works continuously alongside the physical body, helping protect, stabilize, and restore us. Nature supports this process. Trees, flowers, wind, rain, sunlight, stones, oceans, all carry frequencies that help us regulate and remember ourselves. Taurus reminds us to ground into Gaia and allow the body to receive what the Earth is offering.

For this New Moon, I’ll be working with an orange seven-day candle to inspire creativity, movement, confidence, and intentional expression. Orange carries a vibrant frequency … one that radiates through many levels of consciousness and energetic transmission. I’ll also be blending Frankincense, Bergamot, Rosemary, Mugwort, and Eucalyptus as aromatic companions for this lunation. These scents act restoratively and awakening, especially for the body after long periods indoors or emotionally burdened. They help us loosen, breathe deeply, and prepare ourselves to step back outside into the living world again.

For crystal work during the month of May, Amethyst remains one of the most supportive allies. It calms the nervous system while strengthening communication between ourselves and higher states of awareness. Blue Tiger’s Eye and Pietersite are also powerful companions for grounding and flow. Together, these stones help stabilize emotion while enhancing our sensitivity to the frequencies surrounding us, especially outdoors, especially beneath the evening sky.

The season is speaking encouraging you to list your intentions.

Before Mother’s Day became flowers wrapped in plastic and yearly brunch reservations, this was a cry from the hearts of women.

A warning.
A prayer.
An invocation.

In 1870, in the aftermath of the American Civil War and the devastation spreading through Europe, writer and activist Julia Ward Howe issued what became known as the Mother’s Day Proclamation, an appeal to women globally.

Not as consumers.
Not as symbols of domestic obedience.
But as protectors of life itself.

She called upon mothers to rise together across nations and refuse the machinery of violence that continued to consume sons, daughters, families and futures. Howe understood something ancient: that mothering is not weakness. It is a force capable of interrupting destruction itself.

The GrandMothers understood this too.

Long before governments, before conquest hardened itself into empire and dominion, women held continuity within the community. The old traditions remembered the feminine not as passive, but as intelligent balance. The hearth keeper. The seed saver. The herbalist. The dream interpreter. The one who listened to the weather of the soul before storms arrived. The GrandMother council.

Mothering was once considered a form of civilization.

Perhaps this is why the world feels so fractured now.

We are living through an age of near ongoing exhaustion. Nervous systems stretched thin. Children inheriting anxiety instead of belonging. Communities fragmented by outrage, algorithms and endless political theater. We’re connected digitally while becoming emotionally starved and largely divorced from nature .

The old imbalance has reached its breaking point.

And in moments like these, the archetype of the Mother returns.

Not merely the biological mother, but the frequency of Mothering itself:
protection,
nourishment,
intuition,
sensory comfort,
wisdom,
continuity,
restoration.

This is the deeper spirit moving beneath so much of my work with aromatic blending.

Every oil, spray and ritual companion I create through Daughters of Isis is ultimately an aromatic story about remembrance.

Oshun reminds us that beauty and tenderness are not luxuries … they are medicine for a brutalized world. Her sweetness restores self-worth and emotional flow where shame and depletion once lived.

Rhiannon teaches a sovereignty of spirit. She rides between worlds reminding us not to surrender our inner knowing during times of collective confusion.

Isis, Great Mother of Magic, gathers what has been broken apart. She is the patient force of restoration, devotion and sacred rebuilding of love. The Mother goddess.

These aren’t simply mythological figures.
They’re living archetypes anchored in human consciousness.

And scent has always been one of the oldest ways to awaken memory.

Aromatic stories bypass the noise of the modern mind. They speak directly to the nervous system, to ancestral memory, to the body itself. One breath of jasmine, rose, tobacco flower, cedar, myrrh or Sweetgrass can suddenly remind us that we belong to something older and wiser than the current chaos surrounding us. This Mother’s Day, I find myself thinking less about celebration and more about restoration. What would happen if the world remembered Mothering again?

Not domination.
Not conquest.
Not endless extraction.

But care.

Care for children.
Care for the Earth.
Care for the nervous system.
Care for community.
Care for the generations to come.

Perhaps this is the true invocation hidden beneath Mother’s Day.

A remembering.

The GrandMothers whisper that healing the world will not begin through louder empires, stronger machines or savior politics.

It begins when humanity remembers how to mother life again, in nature and humanity.

And maybe, in some small aromatic way, these blends and stories are part of that remembering.

The first element in relationship is intimacy. This is what you are creating when you begin to harvest … whether flower essences, tree essences, or environmental essences in the wild or town. We call this Wilding. It is not about location. It is about connection.

Let me tell you a true story.

I was working weekends in Boston, walking the same city street each day. There, pushing up through the cracks in the sidewalk, was a small, daisy-like weed. The first time I stepped around it, I heard, clear as anything, “Hey… what do you think you’re doing?” It had attitude. Smart. Persistent. And I ignored it.

For days, I walked around that little plant, and every time, it spoke. Not in words exactly, but in presence. In insistence. In a kind of brazen awareness that said: I’m here. Why aren’t you?

By the end of the week, I was scheduled for another vacant Saturday. This time, I listened. I brought a small pint jar of pure water and sat down on the curb beside it. I began to observe, really watch. The white petals, delicate and bright. The tiny yellow center, like a small sun holding its ground in the middle of a city. I noticed its stamina. A full week of rain, grit, runoff, footsteps; and still it stood, pristine. Unmoved. Unapologetic.

There was something in that. Something a community of plant spirit ally’s said I needed to learn. So I did.

I harvested that small flower, that so-called weed, and it became the focal frequency for what is now my Turtle Medicine formula within the Spirit Medicine companions of my Medicine Oils. Its gift is simple and profound; it helps people who are afraid to leave the city and step into nature. Because there are those who do not trust the wild. Who feel exposed beyond the structures of what we call civilization. And there are those who live close to the land who feel the same fear in the city; the noise, the density, the human press. This little flower bridges those divides. It hums an open-heartedness. It teaches that nature is not somewhere else. It is here. It is always here.

And it showed me something essential. There is no requirement for pristine wilderness to create a vital essence. I don’t care what the formal schools say. You can create a flower essence, an environmental essence, a crystal or gem elixir anywhere your intuition calls you to do so.

If the plant spirit ally reaches for you… if the environment speaks… if something says, “Capture this frequency”, then you can. And you should. There is no place you cannot go to accomplish this.

Now here is the next thing you want to understand.

When you sit down on that curb, or in the forest, or beside a river… when you truly enter into intimacy with your plant spirit ally, it will sing to you. Indigenous healers and medicine people speak of this as the song of the plant. Once you begin working in this way … harvesting, relating, listening … you will understand how vital the singing it.

Every ally carries a frequency that requires a bridge of intimacy. Your singing creates that bridge.

Whether you are working with a plant, a tree, a spider’s web delicately spun between branches, or even the subtle field of a place, these anchored frequencies respond to sound, to tone, to intention carried on breath. This is how they are vitalized. This is how they are invited into the water.

Sometimes the song is silent, held in the heart between you and the ally. Sometimes it is voiced, spoken, hummed, or sung aloud if you are alone in the woods or standing on a quiet street corner. But it is always intimate. Always relational. This is something I was never taught in formal, non-indigenous holistic traditions. Among the Native American teachers and wisdom keepers I have had the privilege to sit with, observe, and learn from, the singing is always the beginning. There is no tribe, no lineage, no people who do not use the song of intention.

That song is how we engage. How we care. How we connect.

Trust your intuition here. You may know the properties of a plant. You may have studied its chemistry, its correspondences, its uses. But the singing belongs only to you and your ally. It is authored in the moment of connection. It is the articulation of your intention, why you are asking for this frequency, and how it will be used.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. It could be a simple hum. It might be a rhythm. It might be sounds you don’t even recognize as language. Like the old chants of the Earth sung by the Nations, you will find the tone. If you are honest. If your heart is open. If you are truly in relationship, the singing will begin and fill.

There was a time before we named the plants, when we knew them by their song. Before we harvested, we listened. Before we used, we asked.

Remember this.

The medicine is not the plant.

The medicine is the relationship.

And the song…

The song is how you come home.

Hello; are you a flower essence practitioner? Do you go out and harvest your own flowers, creating environmental essences and seeking frequency in nature for the purpose of healing… or enlightenment?

This has been my work for 35 years, and I’ve learned it mostly from Indigenous teachers across the world. But I’ve also learned, from the very best of them, to follow my own intuition in creating these essences and harvesting them. The energy I bring to them, how I light them up, how I sing my intentions into them, is vital. Singing your intentions to the plant spirit ally’s… this matters.

So this is my first offering

How I do this, and where I do it, for those who might be interested. I’m going to continue to share, among my posts, these frequency harvests and my process within them, what I’ve learned, and what I might pass on to you.

Let me talk to you today about the valiant leaf. On our planet, spirit ally’s take many different shapes and forms, and these are reflections of their adaptive answers to environmental challenges. They contend with harsh weather, hungry vegetarians, and other plants pushing and curling out for greater sunlight.

While exposing the largest possible surface to the sun, the leaf becomes the solar shield of the plant, providing its vitality by capturing the energy from the sun, the light. It’s not always the plants with the largest leaves that win out. There are some fascinating shapes out there, if you notice. Because we all walk, even if it’s just from your car to your home, or your car to your workspace, you’re going to see plants, and they’re going to have these very specific shapes.

There’s the feather-compound leaf, or the twice-compound form that looks a bit like a fern. There’s the further-compounded leaf … well, it’s a stalk with many expressive little leaves jutting out, like a small crew. There are alternate leaves, too. Some are toothed; I’ve run into those. Have you? Oh boy.

But it’s interesting, isn’t it, how vitally important the leaf is to everything in the food chain? Large leaves can be a liability, because they can block sunlight from the smaller leaves on their own stalks that are begging for it. Storm winds can tear them apart. Then you have leaves dividing into lobes, or separating completely into compound forms.

On the life side, what does the leaf represent to us? Our leaves, compared to us, are like we are the stalk … the supplier, the base of the plant. And the leaves are an expression of what? They certainly bring in the sunlight, the giving of lifeforce. A leaf configuration is basic to identifying your plant, and there is always new growth and old growth.

I’ve seen this on the branches in Muir Woods, among the great pines that the guides said were growing there. I went in at the end of winter, and you could tell there was new growth on the ends of those reaching boughs. They were small, delicate, a lighter green. You knew, by walking among them, they were fighting for their place on the tips of branches, for that sunlight to keep them growing and vital.

I talked to those trees in Muir Woods and asked if I could harvest some of that new growth on the branches to create an essence, a plant essence of vibrational frequency. And they were all for it. We’re talking about elder trees. They informed me that I wasn’t the first one to do this sort of thing. This has been done by the medicine people who would go in with their intentions to grow health in the community, or in a specific person who was perhaps failing.

They would sing their intentions into the plants, into these new growth tips, and ask for revitalization. Now, can you imagine that? I learned all of this in conversation with the trees.

Is there a tree in your yard or neighborhood that offers you this opportunity? And with spring coming, are you able to go out into your yard or garden and find new growth on your plants? Might you talk to them about creating a frequency essence for your own vitality, or the vitality of loved ones in your family?

I guarantee your trees will start to communicate with you, in one way or another. If you engage and embrace your intuition, take it seriously, you’ll know. You’ll feel it. It will be a felt sense, or you’ll hear it. You’ll have this wonderful opportunity to create. To make.

This is you working with nature. To create.
Frequency. Harmony. Healing.

Well … here we are at the Flower Moon, full throttle into Aquarius. We’re at the edge of the visible and the felt, with a Moon rising from the deep waters of Scorpio in the steady presence of Taurus, holding us to Gaia. Flowers rising from deep below, where memory, emotion, and truth have been silently ripening. Scorpio always calls what’s hidden forth; our old grief, old fears, longings, attachments, the unspoken knowing as Taurus reminds us to stay rooted, to breathe, to remain inside our body.

It’s like the night-blooming flowers releasing their fragrance only in the darkness. We’re being asked to open where we once closed, to soften where we have held, and to trust that what falls away is not lost; it’s the nourishment for what is becoming. Aren’t we all sitting on the edge right now, waiting? For the good moves, the good news, good moments, a joy that we can actually embrace and hold for longer than a second. What is becoming isn’t easy, yet we’re working through it, something we need to do without force … to allow the scent of our own truth to rise. A subtle but undeniable transformation from within on this Flower Moon. We’re not unraveling … we’re deepening, petal by petal, breath by breath, into a quieter form of strength to bring in this new world. The Scorpio Full Moon is making that very clear. Our vision, our scent, our hearing, all our senses are being touched, telling us it’s going to change for the better. That’s the ground beneath our feet at this Flower Moon.

Here are some of the influences we can count on with this Scorpio Full Moon. It comes from the central tension of a Scorpio Moon opposite the Sun in Taurus. This central tension keeps us holding and releasing. Taurus stabilizes the body, the resources, the physical world, while Scorpio penetrates emotional depths, transformation, intimacy, and endings. What’s too heavy to carry forward has to be transmuted, not controlled. Right now, this Scorpio Full Moon is amplifying our emotional intensity, our shadow material rising, our ancestral memory and karmic threads there to back us up. Desire, truth, and deep instinct are assets filling our pockets right now. There is a heightened sensitivity to energetic boundaries and power dynamics, what’s hidden beneath appearances.

Taurus is stabilizing our nervous system and the nervous system of Gaia. That’s an asset right now. (That’s always been our asset) It calls attention to the body, physical health, and our senses; scent, touch, taste, hearing … as well as money, security, and self-worth. We are being reminded to stay embodied as transformation occurs. These are the influences of this Full Moon, and they will carry through May, and perhaps much of this energy will extend over the next couple of years. Let’s remember to trust our instincts, who we are and who we know ourselves to be.

We also have a Plutonian influence … deep transformation … and a Martian influence, as the traditional ruler of Scorpio. Emotional reactions can be quick, even sharp. This is a some high cotton in shadow work, deep stuff! We’ve been doing it for years, but those years were the practice for these moments. Let’s let go of emotional attachments that bind rather than nourish, release outdated identities, and control patterns anchored in fear. Let’s face relationships with truth and pay attention to hidden motivations. The grief, the desire, the power … we can meet them honestly.

And let’s not forget that this is a Flower Moon, a Full Flower Moon. There is peak blooming energy in nature, and it can electrify us, giving strength to our deeper instinct and intuition. The fragrances of bloom that sooth our deep clearing wounds of multiple lives. The reawakening of our intuition; an asset we carry right in our back pocket. There is a contrast between outer beauty, the flowers with scent and color, the growth, the fertility of spring and the inner compost, the decay, the death feeding life. The theme is bloom and release simultaneously.

While the planets and the cosmos churn and turn around us, these are the most important gifts this Scorpio Flower Moon can give us through Taurus. Whatever your favorite scent is right now, work with it. The familiarity of scent and how it affects us emotionally and mentally is an exercise through nature. So walk. Walk among the blooming flowers. Be with them. Be anchored in them. Allow their scent, their color, and their magnetic beauty that brings the bees, let all of that enable you. Let that be your ritual throughout the month of May.

Because it’s May … the merry month of May. Whether you’re walking through a city or wild territory, gardens are alive, the sky wide above you, flowers in full color and scent. You’re going to have bees, baby … lots of bees. Let that be your ritual. Let that be your guidance. Let the grounding of Earth and Taurus, and the cosmic clarity of Scorpio, be your ritual. Carry, instead of a stone, a handful of herbs. Instead of a glass of water, allow the rain to fall on you this month. Instead of burning sage, take a walk in nature and simply smell, whether it’s the rain, the flowers, or the color awakening before you.

There you go. Happy May Day. Love your goddess. Love your Mother Earth.

At Beltane, the cattle were brought from the enclosed safety of winter into the open summer pastures to soft, sweet grasses, warmth, and light. But before they crossed fully into that season, they passed between two great fires, lit by the Druid hands of our ancestors. Through flame and smoke, they were blessed, purified, and protected. The ash, the heat, the living breath of fire itself became medicine.

Beltane teaches us this:
Fire is not decoration.
It is active. Intelligent. Protective.

And as the fires burned, the night belonged to the Great Mother, her grounding presence, her womb, her deep and receiving, generative nature. She was met by the Horned God, wild, instinctual, solar, and alive with the force of becoming. Together, they enact the Hieros Gamos; the Sacred Marriage, the union that gives life to Beltane itself.

This is the root of the festival.
This is the pulse beneath it.

Beltane anchors the year into fertility, sexuality, and creative force in all acts of Becoming. There is nothing passive here. The Great Mother, through figures like Queen Medb, does not wait. She chooses. She claims. She enters union with awareness and authority. This is chosen, awakened, ecstatic creation.

2026 Beltane celebrates 35 years into the life of Daughters of Isis, inc., standing once again at this fire.

Spring is no longer whispering. It is activating.
This is the season of risk, motion, passion, creativity, and expansion into the outer world. The ribbons are weaving again around the Maypole; threads of intention, fertility, and growth. The ancient sap is rising. Now is the moment.

Set your intentions for what you are ready to bring into form.
Let yourself feel your sensual connection to life … your body, your awareness, your presence.

Study your plant Spirit ally’s.
Work with your flower essences.

This past week, a film of a buffalo dancing has been being circulated. This isn’t a small thing. A dancing buffalo carries many layers of meaning, moving beyond the physical evolving into the realm of spirit, renewal, and communication.

Among the Plains Nations, especially the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Blackfoot Confederacy, the buffalo was understood as life itself. It was food, shelter, clothing, tools, and ceremony. Nothing was left aside, not a single part. Every aspect of the buffalo served a purpose, bridging the people to what is above and what is below. Most importantly, the buffalo gave of itself completely so that the people might survive and thrive.

Within the teachings of these Nations, the buffalo came to symbolize abundance, not excess, but a deep and sustaining sense of enough. It also represented right relationship. Where the buffalo lived, the land remained alive, generous, and in harmony with the Earth Mother. Its presence signaled q harmony between humans, Earth, and Spirit, a circle. The buffalo was also understood as a carrier of prayer, especially in connection with the sacred teachings brought by White Buffalo Calf Woman, a shamanic teacher and returning leadership for the future. There were ceremonies built around this knowing, including buffalo dances inspired by witnessing bison in motion, running, leaping, and dancing across the land. These movements became ceremony in motion, a form of visionary and symbolic storytelling expressed through the body, shared with the people.

A dancing buffalo is an expression of joy and the renewal of life. It’s a sign of spiritual activation. If we were to witness such a moment today, those who carry the old ways would recognize it immediately as an offering of awakening. It becomes a mirror, reflecting the relationship between human beings and the spirit of the animal world. It signals the return of abundance, the greening of the land, the strengthening of community, and the restoration of right relationships. We, most of us, understand the meaning of the buffalo, the White Buffalo, among the Nations… yet this dancing buffalo was asking for description and purpose dancing with us all.

More than anything, it is communication. Buffalo is tied to prayer and sacred law, doesn’t move without meaning. This isn’t spectacle. This is intention. This is rightness. To witness it is to feel something open within you, a remembering, a stirring of your own medicine. A gift from The Nations. A reminder of the moment.

We are living in a time when Indigenous communities across the world have been returning to their roots, reclaiming their traditions, and reawakening ancient knowledge. Alongside this, many others are also beginning to remember. We are reaching back to our ancestors and relearning how to live in right relationship with the living kingdoms of this Earth.

Among First Nations, the buffalo held this sacred role because it lived in right relationship with both the people and the land. Today, there is no manufactured object that can replace this. However, there is something that comes close. It is not a product, but a living system that we enter into relationship with. It is the garden.

The garden is, in many ways, our modern buffalo. A true garden, whether it is a backyard plot, a few pots on a porch, or a shared urban space, quietly holds all the qualities that the buffalo once held. It feeds us directly through our own hands and through the living soil. It teaches us about tools, beginning with our hands, then moving into blades and baskets, returning us to function over consumption and reminding us how to move as human beings. It provides the foundations for elemental symbolism.

It also provides clothing and medicine. Plants offer fibers, dyes, and healing in both physical and subtle forms. They are our spirit ally’s, and through the garden we begin to enter into right relationship with the plant spirit world. We learn by observing how they grow, what they require, and how they communicate through their presence.

The garden is also a place of ceremony. Every act within it becomes ritual, whether planting, watering, harvesting, or composting. It places us within a rhythm far older than language and reconnects us to the cycles of life.

To tend a garden is to be changed. It asks for participation, and it gives in proportion to the relationship we build with it. It remembers. Before stores and systems, we had places where life gathered and answered us. Those places can still be created. They do not need to be vast. They simply need to be tended.

Because what sustained the people was never just the buffalo. It was the relationship that made the buffalo possible.

We’re told that lavender calms, rosemary stimulates and holds memory, sage’s sharpness cleanses and purifies. Yet when you begin to remember your relationship with plants through their scent, which is their first meet with you, something more happens.

That moment becomes an experience.
The experience becomes a memory.
And the scent becomes the key that unlocks it.

Scent amplifies.
Directs.
Redirects.
Reflects.
