Witchslop:

Investigating religions is a hobby of mine.

Especially as someone of non-Abrahamic worldview I tend to want to know the status of other movements, especially Pagan ones.

I will say there is quite a lot of Witchslop out there and this is what see.

- People claiming the use of the word Witch but are always hyper eclectic with no ties to the word Witch, what it means, or cultural European understanding.

- No traditions, even reconstructed magical ones. They don't even claim Wicca anymore.

- Feminism slants where only emasculated men are allowed as a lower class.

- Hyper usage of Runes for aesthetics but rarely any allegiance to the European God or Oðinn.

- A worldview that is all about affirmations and empowerment focusing the self with an almost atheist view leaving out any spirits or Gods unless they are tools or stepping stones. Majority of affirmations are empty nonsense that you could pull from any psyche book.

- Treating Tarot as a religion in itself or as liturgy.

- Hypocritical environmentalism: they love to talk about the forest and animals but rarely are seen in the outdoors or doing anything with animals. They have an abundant of AI slop images ironically of the forest they claim to go to and the herbs they claim to collect. Not considering potential AI enviroment problems.

- Vibes only slop.

These types are everywhere. Their vibes are appealing, but their expression of "witchcraft" has no substance, has no occult elements or magic, is often atheistic, and has no cosmological function.

I hardly call these types Pagan, moreless Witches or even Occultists.

It's sort of an insult to those who have done research or have mystical beliefs or expressions.

If you go into the woods, camp, take time to be in nature, do a libation for the Gods, breath and meditate, read some lore texts, and listen, then you are more mystical than any of these types.

One of the more harmful issues I have seen Paganism and Heathenry have is the split between the soft eclectic Wiccan types who often will describe the Gods as full of love and joy and guidance and the nihilistic semi Nietzschen pseudo atheists who will say the Gods don't care for you at all and only care about your sacrifices and effort, as they interpret faith in some parody of the Conan movie's Crom prayer.

I have made many posts and written books over and over about how this is a false dichotomy. Both aspects are true. And not all Gods care for or have a bleeding heart for humanity but that doesn't mean that they all do not.

As well as how a strict father or parent who challenges you to improve isn't one without love.

But also unlike the New Age peace and flowers style interpretations the path with the Gods and any genuine spiritual tradition isn't without blood, sacrifices, discipline, danger, and, facing fears, and challenges.

I have seen many lifting bro Pagans and Brosatru who has posted or proclaimed the solitary "Gods don't care" type of mantra but I haven't seen it from many Rodnovery types until recently.

A friend of mine, Kolovrat and Trinity, had this to say on the matter.

The Gods do fulfill cosmic roles and are expressed within nature. But they are not just nature.

They don't need your worship or demand it in an Abrahamic monotheistic way.

But they absolutely do care for you, expect you to act a certain way to emulate and live up to them, and do hear your pleas. Saying they don't is not only incorrect religiously but also incorrect historically.

It's new age varg like atheism to act in rebellion of all things Abrahamic so you make the Gods cold uncaring Cthulu cosmic beings who never hear you or provide guidance or blessing.

They are indeed cosmic. And they don't answer every beckon call or demand and cannot just be summoned or controlled like a video game....but they absolutely can be interacted with, spiritually guide you, offer boons, and their presence flows within your veins and spirit.

This idea that Christianity invented loving and caring parental like concepts of the divine is astronomically false. Even when you compare the Christian view of God to the pre-Christian Judaism understanding you get the sense that the other traditions that influenced Christianity, in particular Greco-Roman Platonic understandings, as well as other contemporaries are where the approach to a firm but loving father came from.

It doesn't mean there wont be challenges and trials such as we see in Homeric traditions or that sacrifices, oaths, gift for a gift, and proving oneself to the Gods aren't absolutely a part of a correct connection to the Gods as well as your ancestors.

Caring about you and humanity as a whole doesn't mean unconditional love. There is nothing in this world that is unconditional. No matter how much one religion or another tells you otherwise.

All of the love in the world is hinged upon the condition of you accepting it or living up to it in some way.

However, it isn't a dichotomy or a one or the other but a wholesale approach of both.

One's body should be treated like a temple.

Built up, maintained, and decorated to reflect the spirit housed within and the Gods it is ment to glorify.

But one has to remember that the flesh is temporary and needs constant upkeep.

Moreover, a temple is meaningless if the outside is immaculate but the inside is filthy or corrupted.

Balance is required.

While it is correct the phrase is used from the bible.

"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" -1 Corinthians 6:19

Yet this is obviously in line with the Platonic understand.

Usually this was referred to via a chariot allegory, however we can see this in Dharmic texts as well.

“The individual is the passenger in the car of the material body, and intelligence is the driver. Mind is the driving instrument, and the senses are the horses. The self is thus the enjoyer or sufferer in the association of the mind and senses.”–Katha Upanishad.

Maitreyi Upanishad states:

“The body is spoken of as a temple; the jīva [individual soul] is the eternal Lord/Shiva.”

“Guard and take care of your body, then the rest takes good care of itself. I sustain the unity and dwell in harmony, thus have I remained alive for one thousand two hundred years and my body has not aged.” –The Book of Chuang Tzu

“Take care of your body. It is the temple where your spirit must live.” This quote emphasizes the importance of the body for spiritual well-being. -Epictetus

In Zoroastrianism

Yasna 68.11 (a principal healing prayer): Requests for “strength of body” (tanvō drvatātem), vigor, victory over weakness, long life, and the best existence of the righteous.

In the Hom Yasht (Yasna 9): Requests to Haoma for “health of body.”

In Buddhism

Dhammapada (verse 204): “Health is the highest gain” (ārogyaparamā lābhā). Contentment is the greatest wealth. This underscores valuing physical well-being.

Kāyagatāsati Sutta (MN 119, “Mindfulness of the Body”): Emphasizes developing mindfulness directed to the body (breath, postures, parts, elements, etc.)

And lastly here are some quotes about Health from the Hávamál.

68. Fire for men | is the fairest gift,

And power to see the sun;

Health as well, | if a man may have it,

And a life not stained with sin.

69. All wretched is no man, | though never so sick;

Some from their sons have joy,

Some win it from kinsmen, | and some from their wealth,

The field absorbs the flood.

Why heal the body if it is not a Temple?

In the Gylfaginning the sons of Borr (Óðinn and his brothers) find two trees/logs on the seashore and shape them into people. One gives spirit/life (önd ok líf), another wit/movement/consciousness, and the third form, speech, hearing, and sight.

Obviously this implies spirit imbued into the body. Why not make the body fashioned to match and reflect?

Also I am for using what works and reverse engineering.

I understand that Christianity took a lot from that which influenced it before.

It goes without saying that viewing the body as both a vessel and Temple and reflecting this with appropriate decoration and or fitness would be in line with this.

That doesn't mean one doesn't test the body or do things to augment or put it through trials or pain.

But treating it like a Temple isn't that far stretched.

And I am not going reject everything of virtue (which I believe was derived from pre Christian understanding) just because it's "Christian".

The Bhagavad Gita as talks about respect for the body an instrument of the soul and a dwelling place of the divine presence.

Hip hop and rap is literally manufacturer slop.

Its purpose is to ruin all cultures globally and make everyone sing and sound and be concerned with the same trash mindset. It's a psyop.

Music is a window to the soul.

Most magic, religious prayers, and folk tales were all sung as hymns or poetry.

From the Odyssey, to the Eddas, Rig Veda, Sutra, Galdr, Mantra, even important foundations of a folk such as English Idenity in poetry, Shakespeare, Irish folk music, Slavic etc etc...all of these things are in the form of music no matter who you reference.

This world engulfing wave of rap and hip hop is inorganic. Created with intention and marketed at the lowest levels of society / economy intentionally. Like a control spell to adjust the narrative and never let anyone rise above.

There is of course the loss of talent or expression of musical types and variants. But the message is the primary issue.

The rise and return of European folk music and return of metal and rock is important culturally to the West.

And to be honest expression of other cultures through it (Rock and Metal and their own folk cultures) is what is needed to defeat this cancerous tool that is rap and hip hop and the artificial "culture" that surrounds it.

P.S. this isn't to say I don't ever listen to any music that has a rap or hip hop style to it. Creatively many artist can produce wonderful songs. But those aren't the slop being referred to here.

The World Tree (Yggdrasil) and the Cross.

There always seem to be those who argue Oðinn hanging himself on the world tree is some later addition that was influenced by Christianity and is just an adopt of the Christian myth or inspired by it, or even a conversion tactic. We see this argument from Christians and even some Pagans.

This doesn't hold up for a few reasons.

1) If it were a conversion tactic that took Pagan and Heathen elements to tell a Christian story why change so many elements? Why add the Runes? Why not add the Christian God. The Heliand is an example that counters this. It tells of Christ and describes him like a Germanic warlord and gives him descriptions similar to Oðinn and Þórr, yet it includes Christian being son of God, Hebraic narratives, and his master's of the Runes as a way to bring in familar elements.

No elements of Oðinn's sacrifice of himself to himself for the master of the mysteries (Runes) on the World Tree have any correlation or real elements form the bible.

The opposite is true. Regarding the cross the connections to tree, be it a myth of Dogwood, or an allegory for a connection to Heaven and Earth as a Pole were added over time with European Mythopoetic and Christian mysticism elements and metaphors. The tree motif wasn't something apart of the original Christian understanding.

It was the sacrifice alone they were focused on.

To throw them a bone one can make connection to the Tree of life and Adam's sin to the Tree of Death and Christ's, Son of Man, dying to complete this cycle of sin and atone.

This being said it wasn't until later philosophers that this allegorical connection with the tree was made. In addition sin doesn't enter into the equation for the Odinic sacrifice.

2) There is this habit or rather prescribed understanding of Christianity that their god is the only god in existence thereby he was the only god who was ever hung on a "TREE" / wood and since their whole narrative is surrounding him, his salvation and prophecies leading uo to him, anything related to, or reflecting him in the slightest is seen as spin off, influenced by his story, or a manipulation by demons.

This of course doesn't hold up because a lot of myths that predate Christianity have a lot of commonalities across Eurasia. The only way Christianity, which was a late addition, can be viewed as the only one is to ignore all elements it absorbed and becomes a debate of faith and not facts.

3) The Tree

Usually they are referring to the Bible verse Acts 5: 30.

English KJV :

"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom ye slew and hanged on a tree"

Greek :

"ὁ Θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἤγειρεν Ἰησοῦν, ὃν ὑμεῖς διεχειρίσασθε κρεμάσαντες ἐπὶ ξύλου·"

The word translated as tree here is

ξύλου / xylou this term means wood.

Not tree, but wood. It implies wood used in furniture or any wooden fixture. Of course wood comes from trees so a tree connection is there.

Xylou is in contrast to the word Hyle which means untreated wood implying Xylou has been treated, carved, or manipulated.

It is a stretch to compare a crusafix wood that one was able to drag through the streets (though difficult) to being sacrificed on the Axis Mundi of the Cosmos.

Lastly we have the Dream of the Rood.

The Dream of the Rood is a Christian poem from the Old English literary corpus and a classic example of dream poetry. Like most Old English verse, it is composed in alliterative metre. The word “Rood” comes from the Old English rōd, meaning “pole” or, more specifically, “crucifix.”

In the first section, the narrator experiences a vision of the Cross. He notices that it is covered in gems and feels acutely aware of his own wretchedness in comparison to the tree’s radiant glory. He soon realizes, however, that beneath the beautiful stones, the Cross is stained with blood. In the second section, the Cross itself recounts the story of Jesus’ death. The Crucifixion is narrated from the Cross’s perspective. It begins with enemies coming to cut the tree down and carrying it away.

The tree learns it will not bear a common criminal, but Christ crucified. The Lord and the Cross become one, standing together as victors. They refuse to fall, enduring overwhelming pain for the redemption of mankind. Not only Christ, but the Cross as well, is pierced with nails.

The poem has a very animistic approach and set of descriptions.

"Divine creatures cradle it each & every one

beauteous promise of things to become —

No longer some gallows for the guilty,

they nourished it, these holy messengers

watched it grow for human types

across this mortal garden,

matter & mold made famous. (9b–12)"

The semi sentient tree seems to become one with Jesus and the motif of the cosmological Axis Mundi is applied.

We have to remember this is a Saxon writing, who were first Germanic Pagans, and later Christian with late Christian allegories.

If anything it shows a changing mystical mindset where Christianity became more Pagan and metaphysical and less of a reflection of the original intepretations (though thet themselves do have a mystical quality with the miracles).

While just as mystical and containing a cosmogenisis element as well as, in my opinion a guide to wisdom and understanding (a salvation in itself perhaps) there are very little Christian elements in the Eddic poetry.

Thus Odin graved ere the world began;

Then he rose from the deep, and came again.

Ultimately what we can conclude is that Christianity took a lot of Pagan elements and presented Christ in an Odinic way, merging him with the philosophical and metaphoric Messiah figure that had developed after Christianity's advent and created an understanding of God that was an amalgamation and conjoined approach. When separate from these elements the Odinic sacrifice doesn't strongly reflect the Crucifixion and nor does the Crucifixion reflect rhe mystical elements, Axis Mundi allegories, or tree motifs that Christianity added later.

The appeal of Christianity doesn't  make sense to me and here is why

Tbh as someone who was a Buddhist for 15 years before adding on folk / IE paganims and thereby have been so for over 25 years....ngl I don't understand Christianity at all or it's appeal.

To be it is easily defeated without even full debates.

1) realize you don't need Christs salvation. And if you do need assistance or "salvation" there are none Hebraic Gods which represent this without the Judeo baggage.

2) there is nothing inherent to the Hebraic myths that presents historical facts (it's not historical at all), virtues (it contain very little virtues and the ones it does are common across Eurasia), or holiness that other European or Eurasia myths dont. So thereby no need to adhere to it or replace your own myths,heritage, or history with it.

3) it's cosmology is false and is based on using Paganism as a building block. Without Babylon, Egyptian, Persia, Greco-Romans, Celts, and Germanics it's odd foundation of cosmology and metaphysic well poisoning would fall apart.

Tbh I can't even understand the appeal at all.

The constant debate from Christians who are brainwashed or slander Pagans is growing annoying. Islam and communist atheism is ravaging the West but these useful idiots will attack those who seek deeper spirituality or a connection to their heritage and ancestors....very telling.

Every Christian post you see on X or FB etc is always full of lies and bad faith arguments from subverisve individuals.

You can't expect these people to ever have a proper discussion without strawmaning and manipulating the debate.

It always has to revolve around their failing worldview.

I'm sure there are, and I know a few, good Christians IRL, and ones who care about history, their heritage, and society, but these types who have chosen a sports team or warhammer larping faction to fan boy over and insult the other faction arbitrarily out of societal distraction and become current government in the West support them....aren't truly of any proper faith. They aren't your friends, and more and more they aren't even your cousins, folk, or mutual allies.

Especially the online ones.

I hate having to make constant posts about Christianity when I would rather make posts about Paganism, theology, dharma, or psychological tools and self improvement....but sense the E-Christian can't help but go out if their way for constant attack and to try to sow doubt or make threats (literally the devil's they accuse everyone else of being) then I will have to make comments like this now and then.

Online debates are just used as a psyop to keep you down and spread a curse of negativity.

Be productive, keep your opponents within arms reach but don't let them distract you or interlude in your progress and growth.

A Heathen approach to the nature of incarnation from a Buddhist lens.

The following is a commentary and discussion with my friend Innes.

I am always happy the engage in discussion that is productive and made in earnest for those seeking when it comes to theology or belief of any kind.

Innes: "As a heathen, I view the soul as communal and consisting of parts."

H&V: This is consistent with the majority of Indo-European approaches. Of course in Heathenry but also in many Greek approaches and as aggregates which make up the "soul" in the Buddhist Yogachara where the Soul is a store house Ālaya-vijñāna.

Innes: "I am not in any way shape or form detached from the soul of my family or of my clan for e.g., I do not believe in an individual soul disconnected from a kinship group in any meaningful sense. One without kinship (as per its varying definitions) is lacking in something that makes one human (hence the becoming-of-wolf an outlaw experiences.)"

H&V: I absolutely agree with this. Some Buddhist will disagree but I think once your soul has reincarnated as a Human. Even when incarnated not as a human if you are incarnated as an Elf / Alfar or in the God reals amongst the Æsir / Deva you are still incarnate as such with a connection to your people. This goes for hell realms as well. Animals can be your Fylgja and hungry ghost your incarnations in Hel or Náströnd. Jötunn are Asura and in line with Germanic cosmology as also not unrelated to the Gods which fits in other Arya cosmology as well.

Innes: "As a Buddhist, I view the soul as an arising stream within the greater 'storehouse consciousness' (Alaya-Vijnana) -.. wherein the various streams flowing out from one another accumulate and trickle off into sub-streams. I imagine a clan as a tree, for use of another more conventional metaphor, with the branches representing each individual. There are no branches without the tree, and there is no tree without the branches."

H&V: Well said mate! I see no problem in this worldview and I think this shows that and can have a Mahayana or Vajrayana Buddhist approach and still have a Heathen folk centered spirituality as well. This is also my personal understanding.

Innes: "However, due to the nature of the karma -.. the way in which individuals amalgamate into different kinship groups differs, there is not one universal truth as to how they operate on a 'metaphysical' level. Enter perspectivism :P"

Reincarnation thus is most likely to occur along kinship lines within cultures (and individuals) that place value on kinship above individuality. Deep belief, in the form of karmic attachment, can directly affect rebirth and the conditions of the next life."

H&V: I have nothing to add here. This absolutely stands on it's own as a proper and useful approach.

Innes: "I will not say my 'belief' is entirely well thought out or set in stone, but this tends to be how I view the matter."

H&V: I think this whole discussion has been very throughly thought out in to a workable model that makes sense.

I enjoy this video from The Golden One.

His videos are always whitepilling and uplifting with a positive outlook while trying to deliver sombering facts as directly as possible.

His views of the metaphysical make up of the Gods, being a mixture of Evolian real metaphysical beings and Jungian archetypes that live within us, as well as his description of a greater divine spirit or energy "God" which lives within all of us very much my view and something I present in my writings and is something that is very Indo-European at it's core.

Also for those who love the term animism it fits that as well.

I, of course, disagree with his take regardign Oðinn and Tyr here but I have spoken ad nauseam regarding that.

For the primary focus and crux of his video I will say I both agree and disagree with him.

Many will say he is being too soft on Christianity. In some ways I would concer. I reject the divinity of Jesus and all of the attachments and requirements that come with it. In as much as the same way he confers with a divine spark being in many humans and their potential to rise to divinity or commune with the Gods I will agree.

Jesus, potentially, can be considered to have a divine spark, Buddha nature, within and could be risen up to a God among many or as much of a Demi God as you or I could rise up to in order to become with the Gods or even become enlightened. Apotheosis isn't something I would say would be something Jesus would be inherently excluded from more than any one else.

If this means he did rise up to that and is a divine being that one can interact with or receive blessings or guidance from, that is for the individual to decide. I personally do not think so but I am not Christian.

In as far as him being Big G God himself, or the One, or the Godhead incarnate.

I agree with the statement that there are many Indo-European (and possibly other) Pagan understandings of myths and metaphysics whereby "God" or the Sky Father via God incarnates through a divine son, or avatar, and leads mankind to victory or provides spiritual guidance.

In my opinion this aspect of the Christ narrative, as well as the miracles, sacrifice, and solar motifs, are common ones across Eurasian history and religion, and he isn't unique with this.

The idea of "Christ" and Christendom's Divine Son, Solar Priest King, and Theurgy mystery initiation appeal, can all be found reflected in other traditions.

In this I absolutely agree that when we find ourselves so anti-abrahamic and thereby anti-christian that we purity spiral in attacking our own history, ancestors, and the Pagan, esoteric, metaphysical, and or natural truths that had been absorbed.

I always use the phrase don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I think that the God our Christian ancestors (not always from the highest parts of the Church mind you) understood might be corrupted but is an understanding of the Sky Father and the greater interconnected spirit that is reflected in our European and broadly Eurasian spirituality and traditions.

The archetypes and motifs were similar, and when they prayed in earnest I'm sure many of their hearts were in the right place and the Gods of their folk often heard their prayers even if it were via wrong names and Saints. (Which would lessen the effectiveness in my opinion).

With this the take that Christ has been a friend to Europe I can understand.

But my issues is that Christ as a divine European influenced motif and comforting understanding has been such.

Jesus as been wielded against Pagans, Folk Religions, and cultural heritage via the greater Abrahamic traditions has been nothing but a detriment and a sword to sever the ties between us, our Gods, our ancestors before the Christians, and our Folk Soul.

Does this mean we can come to terms and accept this history within our own in a current world view moving forward towards glory and recovery?

Absolutely! We can even be friendly or allies to our brothers and sisters who are Christians.

The problem arises is will they be able to do the same for us.

Will they be able to accept their Pagan past like we could accept our Christian one?

Will they be able to our aside Old Testament mindset that sees their own folk Gods as evils and attack their own traditions in a constant Satanic Panic?

Will they not continue to be anti Folk and pro Global agendas and attacking Pagans like the Catholics and Protestants tend to exemplify?

The answers to this all depends on if they are able to change intepretations of their texts and traditions or if they will reject aspects. This could be asking them not to be what their religion defines as faith.

And there is much doubt that it would work out.

Accepting the White Christ as a God amoung Gods was the start, convert or die was the execution.

Would history repeat itself or could we find a join way forward?

This is debated daily. And I'm not going to be able to provide all the answers here.

I have friends who are akin to brothers who are Christians not due to betrayal but due to circumstances, and cultural rising or influenced. There is a hurdle between us but I dont reject them as kin. Because these friends and family are not against me or my kindred.

Many times these friends and I can see eye to eye on matters of morality, virtues, and even spirituality.

But there are those who dont see this way at all. And even if ethnically brothers or cousins, their views and understanding are inherently focused on harming us. And we know the history there. Thereby I personally think the divide may be too far.

All of this is food for thought.
