Yes. A group can show PCA similarity to a broader regional cluster even if no individual deme within that region matches it, because PCA reflects mixtures and variance structure, not one-to-one population identity.

Specific Case: Ashkenazim Have No Greco-Roman Judean Ancestry!

The Western Roman Jewish Diaspora, from which Ashkenazim are descendants, consisted entirely of Hellenistic, Southern European, Magna Graecian, and Phoenician converts but not of Judean peasants (90% of the population of Greco-Roman Palestine). During the Greco-Roman period Hellenistic and Southern European groups were introduced in the Levant and absorbed into many demes.

Jews in Mesopotamia by the 6th centuy CE were entirely Mesopotamian in origin. (Even at an earlier period, Antiochus Epiphanos of the Hanukkah story treated Jewish Judeans and Jewish Mesopotamians as completely separate groups (ethnoi) that practiced similar or related religions.) Mesopotamian genetics is hard to distinguish from Levantine genetics.

During the Abbasid Period (750–1258 CE), Medieval Jewish trade networks spanned Europe, N. Africa, and Mesopotamia but not Palestine, which had become almost entirely Christian by the 6th century CE. These trade networks mapped to a Jewish metapopulation, whose subpopulations exchanged individuals and genetics.

There was no Roman Expulsion of Judeans as any competent historian of the Greco-Roman Levant can explain. Medieval and Modern Rabbinic Jews, who are descendants of Jews that participated in the Medieval Jewish trade networks, have no continuity either ethnically or religiously with Greco-Roman Judeans, who never departed from Palestine and became the ancestors of us Palestinians.

About the Khazars

In the past, I wrote the following, which is reasonable and defensible

The Khazar conversion is more famous than significant. Not much is known about the Khazars themselves, but the Khazar elite ruled a population that included many groups that descended from non-Judean converts to Judaism including Greeks, Iranians, Armenians, Slavs, and peoples of the Caucasus. The territory of Khazaria was important for Rabbinic Jewish trade in the early Middle Ages. When the Mongols invaded Southwest Asia and sacked Bagdad (February 10, 1258), trade routes were disrupted, and Southwest Asian Jews (all descendants of non-Judean converts to Judaism) migrated through this territory into Eastern Europe.

I own a home and property in Ein Charem from which my family was violently driven in 1948. In US law, we would assert that a Zionist interloper currently occupies my home and property. Zionists are attempting to murder or to destroy Palestinians in the USA and in stolen Palestine because if we Palestinians are all dead or destroyed, no one would be able to claim ownership of a stolen home, stolen property, or the stolen country of Palestine. Only with the deaths of all us Palestinians, can a Zionist illegally resident in stolen Palestine feel comfortable in residing in a stolen home, on stolen property, or in a stolen country.

Palestinian and Phoenician Canaanite/Hebrew-language-based Judaism was practiced among Phoenician and Palestinian Canaanite/Hebrew speakers including those that lived in Alexandria, Carthage, and other Phoenician colonies in N. • in the face of the pride that Philo and Josephus express in the conversion of large numbers of non-Judeans to Judaism.
