It puts our tiny, momentary, first world walk with God into perspective.

It reminds you how big God is and puts into focus how small our problems are.

I love how Hebrews 11 calls the heroes of the Old Testament specifically by name.

It’s a perspective shift.

Why do we have such a tendency to magnify a problem before we even pray about it and ask God for His opinion?

No one is perfect and I KNOW the heroes of faith in the Old Testament were human…

Sarah laughed at the idea of her miracle, Rahab was a prostitute, Moses was a murderer, David was dramatic and an adulterer…

but they are ALL in the Bible, marked down in history as the ones who LIVED BY FAITH.

Faith isn’t just a feeling; it’s perspective.

It’s a mentality shift.

It’s an unwavering KNOWING.

It’s an action.

Something we have to choose.

This stuck out to me most today in Hebrews 11…

“By faith, Moses, after he was born, was hidden by his parents for three months, because they SAW that the child was beautiful, and they didn’t fear the kings edict.”

Moses’ parents are mentioned in Hebrews 11. How cool is that?

God in His sovereignty placed something in Moses parents to SEE that there was something different about Moses.

They knew they needed to protect him.

They saw something to instinctively different about their son, and they didn’t fear the Kings edict.

The sovereignty of God is so beautiful.

FAITH AND SEEING are tied together.

Moses’ parents didn’t fear the kings edict…

As someone who struggles with fear, I can’t even imagine not being afraid if someone was threatening to kill my child.

Wow.

I hope some parents reading this today are encouraged by the sovereignty of God and His protection over His kids.

God loves your kids more than you.

And He knows what you need to see in your children as their parents.

God put something so deep into Moses’ parents to see there was something different in him, they loved him so much, they needed to preserve him and weren’t afraid.

That’s sovereign faith.

And then there’s the faith that we have to choose when we are fighting fear.

And then there’s the faith that we have to choose when we are fighting disappointment.

Faith can be described as so many things, its truth, it’s an action, its perspective, its a choice, it’s a partnership, it’s trusting in Jesus and His plan.

It’s the strength to pray for His will, it’s SEEING in the spirit what is yet to be in the flesh and waiting on the promise of eternity.

It’s a perspective shift.

What do you need to SEE?

Ask God to show you what He SEES.

He created Moses so sovereignly that His plan was already at work as a baby, giving Moses’ parents the faith to not fear the king’s edict and allowing His sovereign purposes to unfold.

Ask God to give you eyes to SEE and emotions aligned with His so that you can walk in the depth of faith displayed by our brothers and sisters listed in Hebrews 11.

There’s more for us.

Just like Moses’ parents, what do you need God to help you see today in order to walk in Hebrews 11 faith?

“The joy of the Lord is our strength. We are not stronger than we are joyful.”

Read that again.

Let it marinate your heart.

And then I started thinking...

If I’m not feeling strong...

Maybe I’m not tapping into the fullness of the joy of the Lord.

The word joy in Nehemiah 8:10 (and 1 Chronicles 16:27) can be translated as gladness.

Why do joy and gladness and strength feel so opposite sometimes?

The world often separates these two things. But God is saying these two run together as a pair.

I often think of strength in a worldly sense as grit, hustle, discipline, self-reliance, and achievement. When we pursue strength apart from God, it’s easy to become wrapped up in pride, lacking humility and becoming fixated on what’s right in front of us.

We become consumed by the “weights and burdens” we carry to prove ourselves, constantly striving to become stronger while losing sight of the people and moments right in front of us.

In that pursuit, it’s easy to lose the connection between our head and our heart, making it difficult to experience the fullness of God and the joy He freely offers.

But Jesus is reminding me that strength in His Kingdom looks different. You can be full of strength, carry a great capacity, and still be deeply joyful.

Because the measure to which we are strong in the Lord is also the measure to which we are joyful and glad.

If you’re lacking joy, maybe you’re tapping into the world’s version of “strength” and not the joy of the Father in heaven.

Find joy in the Lord, and strength will follow.

Find strength in the Lord, and joy will follow.

In order to have true gladness and joy, there has to be a level of contentment, fulfillment, peace, and gratitude.

As we trust our Father in heaven, He is instilling within us and through us everything we need through Him.

When studying Nehemiah 8:10, I learned that the word strength can be translated as safety, protection, and refuge.

The joy of the Lord is our safety, our protection, our refuge, and our strength.

In 1 Chronicles 16:27, it says, “Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling.”

The word strength in this verse can also be translated as power, might, and boldness.

Strength and joy surround Him.

They are tied together.

Everything that we need is found in Him.

And the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, surround yourself with His dwelling and in His presence.

Ask for His presence to be tangible.

His joy and His strength can be found in Him.

8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.

12 “Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign 13 that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death.”

14 “Our lives for your lives!” the men assured her. “If you don’t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.”

Joshua 2:8-14

Introduction

This has to be one of the more scandalous stories in the Bible. Ladies, don’t act like you haven’t raised an eyebrow reading this wondering why Jesus chose a prostitute to provide protection for His people. It’s not for us to know someone’s heart, but it’s only the Holy Spirit’s job. 1 Corinthians 2:11 So, let’s put down our judgmental brows at Rahab (or possibly the “Rahabs” in our everyday communities) and see what we can learn today from her story.

I love these verses because it immediately reveals the Israelites have a reputation of God being on their side! And Rahab the prostitute has heard of their reputation! What kind of reputation are we leaving as Christians in this day and age? Do you think people with Rahab reputations want to lean into the Christian community or away from it? I hope the “Rahabs” in our circles want to lean into the faith of Jesus because of our reputation and not away from Him. Can you imagine what risks Rahab had to take in order to help the Israelite spies? I wonder if there are any risks God is asking us to take, but we’re too afraid of the outcome. Rahab was risking her life, the lives of her family, and her reputation. But she had heard of the reputation of the God of the Israelites, and she wanted her life to be spared because she knew disaster was coming, and she knew partnering with the right people would save her.

Her courage put her in the lineage of Jesus! I wonder what blessings are on the other side of our courage. It was her divine destiny to help these spies, but could you imagine with me for one second if she decided to let fear rule her instead of risking to help the Israelite spies? She would have missed out on her God-ordained future. I wonder how many moments we miss out on in our day-to-day life because we’re too afraid of the risk. Or maybe you have a reputation that Rahab had in Jericho, maybe you’re known as the one who is a little scandalous, but you know God in His lovingkindness wants to save you from a scandalous lifestyle and take you into a new reputation and use you for His divine destiny.

I love how you read how Rahab in vs. 12 refers to herself as showing kindness and pleads with the Israelite spies to show her the same kindness as she has shown to them. How often is your kindness attached to an act of risk and faith? I’m sure not all of us are out here saving entire nations in this grandeur gesture the way Rahab is in our day-to-day, but I want to propose to you, what if you are? There are nations and legacies attached to your children, your family, and your communities. One small act of kindness really does have the power to save a nation and your legacies. Our risks, our faith, and our acts of kindness have ripple effects far greater than we can imagine. Rahab didn’t know her small act of kindness set her up to be a part of the lineage of Jesus. You never know what is on the other side of your kindness and your faith risk.

Journal prompts:

• Write out these words from the beginning of vs. 9 “I know that the Lord has given you this land…” and circle the word know.

  • Now process and journal about the last time you were so assured in knowing something the Lord’s hand was on you spoke with the same faith you see Rahab speaking with.

• Write out these words from the beginning of vs. 10 “We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt…” and circle the word heard.

  • Now think about the stories you have heard. Who is someone in your life who has a “God reputation”, someone who has shared stories with you of God moving in their life? What can you learn from them by remembering the stories you have heard?

  • Write down the name of the person. Then take a few minutes and write out a prayer of blessing over this person. If you know them personally, send them a text and thank them for sharing their story of God moving in their life and how it stirred up your faith. Tell them you’re praying for them!

• Do you need to repent for judging someone’s reputation by acting like you know their heart, when God is actually using them in a powerful way to save His people? Write their name down and take a few minutes to repent. Then write out a prayer of blessing over them. If you feel comfortable, send them a text letting them know how grateful you are to call them a friend and to be a part of their life!

• Are there any areas in your life God is asking you to take a risk? Journal about it. Dream about it. Get it out on paper.

• Journal some affirmations to remind yourself you are building and creating a legacy by stewarding your children, your spouse and your community, and even affecting nations and the bride of Christ by how you’re building up and encouraging those around you. (Ephesians 4:29)

Make it personal:

• We are reminded today a simple act of kindness can change your life and someone else’s life. If you’re having trouble with kindness, remember kingdom come kindness comes from the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you up daily. Kindness will be easier to access when you’re reminded that it comes from Him first! Think about how you can be more kind to the people around you in the day-to-day?

• How can you take a risk of faith by loving someone (someone new or someone you’ve known for a long time) God has brought into your life?

• God can use whoever He wants whenever He wants, no matter their reputation. God is looking at our hearts! What matters most is God’s opinion of us, not man.

• People are watching Christians and listening to the reputation God has in your life. Share your stories of God’s faithfulness! You never know who is listening or the places or people God will take your stories to. It’s His story to use however He pleases. We don’t get the glory of faithfulness, He gets the glory!

• God requires His people to live a life of faith, and oftentimes this requires great risk!

• Stay alert in your mundane moments, ask Him to give you eyes to see and ears to hear Him when He’s calling you to step into a risky faith step or an act of kindness.

• Legacy might just be on the other side of your obedience. Don’t miss out!

Prayer

Father, thank you for the influence of Rahab in our lives today in these scriptures. Holy Spirit, I am blown away by your loving kindness. If you can use Rahab, I know you can use me. I want to be a woman of faith and a woman who responds to the power of God the way Rahab did. I want to protect my community around me the way Rahab protected the Israelites and her family. I want to be a woman of faith and kindness as Rahab was. Help me, Holy Spirit, to be a woman of kindness and faith. God you see the heart of man, not me. I know you can use whoever you want to bring about your will on the earth, I want to be used by you and I don’t want to judge the people you choose to use. I repent for judging. Change me. Show me where I need to take more risks, show me the impact I’m having in my family and in the lives of my community.Remind me it matters who I interact with and how I move in Holy Spirit-filled kindness. I’m a vessel of the Holy Spirit wherever I am. Give me the courage to share the stories you want me to share from my life where you radically moved. Give me the character of kindness. I want to have the reputation the Israelites had where people hear about you when my name is mentioned. Jesus, I’m so amazed at your scriptures and I’m so thankful for the story of Rahab and how you love and cared for the women in the Bible, you love to take care of your daughters. Thank you Jesus for choosing me to be your daughter. Just as you cared for Rahab and for your divine protection over her life and legacy, you care for me and mine. All that I have is yours. I love you, Jesus. And I love being your daughter! Amen.

5 “If it pleases the king,” she said, “and if he regards me with favor and thinks it the right thing to do, and if he is pleased with me, let an order be written overruling the dispatches that Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, devised and wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king’s provinces. 6 For how can I bear to see disaster fall on my people? How can I bear to see the destruction of my family?”

7 King Xerxes replied to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, “Because Haman attacked the Jews, I have given his estate to Esther, and they have impaled him on the pole he set up. 8 Now write another decree in the king’s name on behalf of the Jews as seems best to you, and seal it with the king’s signet ring—for no document written in the king’s name and sealed with his ring can be revoked.”

Esther 8:3-8

Introduction

Esther’s story has so many highs and lows, it’s one of royalty but it’s also extremely grueling. She was an orphan, she was forced to have an arranged marriage, she had royal treatment but still had constraints, she had to hide her heritage for a short while, she had to face the possibility of death, and she had to be courageous. She was chosen and she was favored and through all of this, she walked in her divine destiny as Queen. (I’m sure being Queen came with its perks! I’ll take a year of beauty treatments, anyone else? Esther 2:12) All throughout Esther you read over and over again about the favor she had. Not just in the King’s eyes, but with other people too! She walked in divine favor.

Her story is a story of reversal and exemplifies Romans 8:28 and Genesis 50:20 – what the devil meant for harm God will use for good. Is there anything in your life the enemy threw at you and you’re waiting for God to use for good and to create a divine reversal? Be encouraged today. If God did it for Esther (and so many others in the Bible), He can do it for you too.

All throughout the book of Esther, you see her emotions. You see her weep in vs. 3 and you feel her angst in vs. 6 pleading with the King because she can’t bear the weight of seeing disaster fall on her people. Have you ever been called to stand in the gap and intercede at the feet of King Jesus for your people? Can you relate to any of those emotions? You see Esther’s King respond with a decree which cannot be revoked! Jesus did this for us at the cross when He died and rose again for us. His promises and His decree of His bloodshed and broken body for us at the cross cannot be revoked. It is finished and He’s alive today, always waiting for your yes to receive Him into your everyday moments in life. He’s waiting for you to join Him as a co-heir in Christ of royalty as His son and daughter.

I love the picture of royalty in Esther and what she had access to. I wonder how often we forget what we have access to as royal daughters of the King. She courageously came to her King and He accepted her. It reminds me of Hebrews 4:16 Finally, let’s draw near to the throne of favor with confidence so that we can receive mercy and find grace when we need help. Just like Esther had to step out of her comfort zone, she knew she had to walk in her royalty, favor and confidence to approach the King in her time of need.

God is calling us to be like Esther when we approach Him, our King Jesus. He wants us to be confident. We are co-heirs of royalty (Romans 8:17) and we are grafted into His family. He has given you a people to steward, spouses, children, family, friendships, pastors, leaders, and community; we are called to intercede on their behalf. Don’t give up hope and don’t stop interceding, because we serve a great God who can revoke and reverse the enemy’s plans. Be bold, be confident, be royal, and approach His throne of grace as the favored daughter of the King you are.

• What are all of the adjectives and verbs used to describe Esther and her character or personality in today’s reading?

• When you read about Esther in scripture, how do you imagine her demeanor? What stands out to you about how you imagine her character?

• What are some of the emotions you think Esther was feeling when she had to approach the King?

• What are some of the challenges Esther probably faced carrying the responsibility of intervening for her people?

• How do you think Esther felt when King Xerxes not only accepted her request but also made an immediate plan of action?

• What areas do you need to “plead, weep, and fall at the feet” of King Jesus about?

Make it personal:

• God protects His people and He has all power and authority to use whoever He wants when He wants to revoke the plans of the enemy.

• His timing is perfect and He calls His people to partner with Him in courage and faith in order to bring about His will on the earth.

• The Bible says if we love Jesus, then what the devil meant for harm against us, God will use for good!

• God uses our emotions and we don’t need to be afraid of carrying responsibilities which move us to tears, we don’t need to hold back the weight of our pain when we approach King Jesus. (Psalm 56:8) Remember, Jesus wants to know what you’re feeling.

• We are co-heirs and royalty! Be bold in your identity in prayer with our King.

• God wants us to intercede for our people. As women we are responsible for many lives, some women are responsible for more than others, but we are all in communities and we are all a part of the body of Christ; intercede and approach King Jesus on their behalf.

• King Xerxes was a man of power and authority! How do you think our prayer lives would change if we remembered how much authority and power King Jesus has when we pray? Do you think we would pray more boldly if we had this revelation that we’re praying to the one who holds all authority in heaven and on earth? (Matthew 28:18)

Prayer

King Jesus, you are so good to your bride. We are unworthy of the royal inheritance and blessings that you give us as your sons and daughters. Help us never take for granted the joy it is to be your daughter and let us never forget the benefits of Jesus. (Psalm 103:2) As daughters of God we can approach your throne with confidence. Jesus, transparently, my heart is burdened for ____. Soften my heart towards these people and situations. I’m pleading with you God to move in these people and situations and in the hearts of _____. I’m asking you to look upon me with favor and listen to my requests for your help and intervention. I’m asking you to reverse the enemy’s plans over ____ in a way which cannot be revoked. I thank you for how you have plans to turn this around. I don’t know how, but I know you will in your perfect timing. I release ____ to your feet. Help me not walk away from this prayer carrying anything I’m meant to release to you. Search my heart, show me how to pray, hear my moans, and help me to pray for your will, not my own will for ____ but your will. (Romans 8:26-27) I ask for you to burden my heart in the day-to-day to be quicker at bringing my requests to you with courage and confidence like Esther. Show me if there’s anything or anyone I need to fast for just as Esther did. (Esther 4:15-16 and Matthew 17:21) Thank you for these scriptures so I can learn from Esther and learn from your word on how you desire us to live and pray. I’m so grateful you have plans for me and plans for my family and community! Thank you for being a God who protects. You love when I am honest with my emotions with you in prayer. I know you are not surprised by the challenges I face, and you are with me in those challenges, moving on my behalf. I trust you with my story and the stories of the people I care for. Help me to be courageous, favored and walk in my royal birthright as a daughter of King Jesus even in my mundane day-to-day moments. My life is yours and I trust you. It’s an honor to be your daughter, I love you. Amen.

The Lord is with you.” 29 But she was deeply troubled by this statement, wondering what kind of greeting this could be. 30 Then the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. 33 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end.”

34 Mary asked the angel, “How can this be, since I have not had sexual relations with a man?”

35 The angel replied to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 And consider your relative Elizabeth—even she has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called childless. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”

38 “See, I am the Lord’s servant,” said Mary. “May it happen to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.

Luke 1:26-38

Introduction

I know this is a bold statement but this is my favorite passage in the entire bible. For several reasons! I won’t be able to get to all of my reasons, but here’s a few. First of all the angel that came to Mary was a messenger foretelling the birth of Jesus! (How cool is that?!) The angel called her “favored woman!”Could you imagine being Mary and having an angel greet you and call you favored? Mary was favored by God!

Psalm 5:12 tells us that God surrounds the righteous with favor as a shield! How powerful! Then the angel says “The Lord is with you.” How often do we need to be reminded God is with us? I know I need to be constantly reminded of it. The title of these verses in the Bible are called, “The birth of Jesus foretold”. But also, these scriptures are foretelling Mary’s future and her part in the story. Mary’s response to the angel is my favorite verse. “May it happen to me as you have said.” How often do we spend long enough time in prayer to where we listen to God speak to us about our future? He gives us insight or direction about the gifts, skill sets and talents He put inside of us, how to use them, how to steward them, and then we have that window of opportunity to respond to the direction He’s leading us. We can either kick and scream and wrestle with the direction He’s leading us, OR we could respond like this, “I’m yours God, I’m your daughter, I’m here to serve you in everything I do. May it happen to me as you have said.”

Now, say it out loud. “May it happen to me as you have said.” What if this was our response every time God spoke to us? You know what I’m talking about, sometimes God plainly speaks to us, gives us an inspired thought we know did not come from within us. Sometimes He uses people in our life to teach us. Sometimes He uses scripture to speak to us. And then after the encounter, what happens? We get the “Holy Spirit nudge”. The nudge of “uh-oh, now I have to walk this thing out, take the leap of faith and walk in obedience!” We have an opportunity after those Holy Spirit nudges to respond. I encourage you today, to respond like Mary, “I’m your servant God, may it happen to me as you have said.” Because, nothing is impossible with God.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for your miraculous ways and how you came to the earth to save us! Nothing is impossible with you God. I ask you to give me the faith, humility and favor of Mary. Thank you for how you have given each of us assignments and purpose to bring about your will on the earth, help me not to miss it and respond to you as Mary responded to her assignment. Thank you Jesus, all the days ordained for me are written in your book, (Psalm 139:16) you have prepared in advance good works for me. (Ephesians 2:10). I’m your daughter God, a servant of Jesus Christ, whatever you have planned for me today and for all of my days, my response is let it be done to me according to your word, and let it happen to me just as you have said and planned. I trust you. Jesus, thank you for your promises. I ask you to surround me with favor as a shield. Thank you for how you see me. I love you, Jesus. And I love being your daughter. Amen!

• Journal about a time in your life where God made the impossible possible in your life. If you don’t have an experience in your life where God made something impossible possible in your life, ask the Lord for an “impossible possible” work in your life.

• What are some areas in your life where you can have a better response to the people or circumstances God is bringing into your life?

• God spoke to Jesus through an angel in this story! God speaks to us in many ways. One of those ways is directly through scripture! What are some of your favorite scriptures He is speaking over you in this season? (Write them out!) Here are 3 of my favorite scriptures if you need some to borrow: Isaiah 26:3, Deuteronomy 31:8, Psalm 32:8, 2 Timothy 1:7.

• Ask God to speak to you about where He’s guiding you in this season. Spend some time responding to Him in prayer with your yes and with faith in what He is speaking over you.

Make it personal:

• Mary was favored and she was a woman of faith! This passage stirs us to ask God for favor and to increase our faith.

• God has ordained times and seasons and people on earth to bring about His will and His Kingdom Come. Just like Mary was chosen, you are chosen and seen by God to bring about good works to bring glory to His name.

• Our response to His plan for our lives is important.

• God is with you, sometimes He’ll ask us to do hard things (some of what Mary had to walk through is unimaginable), but He always has a purpose and a plan, and our lives should always point to Jesus.

• We should be reminded after today’s reading of how our goal and responses should be to serve Jesus, and nothing He asks us to do will be impossible, because nothing is impossible with God.

5 Boaz asked his servant who was in charge of the harvesters, “Whose young woman is this?”

6 The servant answered, “She is the young Moabite woman who returned with Naomi from the territory of Moab. 7 She asked, ‘Will you let me gather fallen grain among the bundles behind the harvesters?’ She came and has been on her feet since early morning, except that she rested a little in the shelter.”

8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Listen, my daughter. Don’t go and gather grain in another field, and don’t leave this one, but stay here close to my female servants. 9 See which field they are harvesting, and follow them. Haven’t I ordered the young men not to touch you? When you are thirsty, go and drink from the jars the young men have filled.”

10 She fell facedown, bowed to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor with you, so that you notice me, although I am a foreigner?”

11 Boaz answered her, “Everything you have done for your mother-in-law since your husband’s death has been fully reported to me: how you left your father and mother and your native land, and how you came to a people you didn’t previously know. 12 May the Lord reward you for what you have done, and may you receive a full reward from the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”

Ruth 2:5-12

Introduction

Ruth is the most marked-up and highlighted book in my bible. Why? I went through a season of grief a few years ago and Ruth and Naomi are a picture of redemption during grief. Ruth lost her husband, her brother-in-law and her father-in-law. She lived far away from her own mother and family, and Naomi (her mother-in-law) was all she had left. After her husband’s death, she told Naomi, “Where you go I go, I want your God to be my God”. (Ruth 1:16-17) There had to have been something in Naomi to cause Ruth to want to follow God. At this point in the scriptures above, Ruth and Naomi have traveled to Bethlehem and in God’s sovereignty, Ruth finds herself in a field gleaning from Boaz’s harvest fields. (Deuteronomy 24:19 reveals how Boaz was following the law by allowing Ruth in his field, He was a man of God and He cared about the widow.) You can see in his response to Ruth he is protective of her, he cares about her safety. This is such a picture of how Jesus cares about our safety. My favorite part of this story is how Ruth doesn’t have to reveal herself or her character to Boaz. He pursues a conversation with her first because of the reputation of her character. Her character has a reputation in town he already heard about! Wow.

When we are living rightly for God and stewarding what He has given us to steward, God will always provide for you and make sure the people who need to know you and know about you, find you. Boaz was a man of blessing. He said, “May the Lord reward you for what you have done”. What a powerful declaration and something Ruth needed to receive. Grief is exhausting in and of itself, but to have to work in a field for hours on end while carrying the weight of grief and the unknown, in a new town, feeling totally alone, is difficult to imagine. God brought her redemption story through Boaz. What is so powerful about Ruth’s redemption story is her legacy of redemption surpasses her lifetime, little did she know, she was chosen to be a part of the lineage of Jesus. And she didn’t even know it!!!

Our redemption stories hold greater weight than we could ever see on this side of heaven and surpass our lifetime. God is building a legacy with His redemption through you. This story is such a powerful reminder of how God is in the details of our ordinary lives, and He’s really good at taking care of His daughters and healing us during our grief. I hope you know and are encouraged today with this truth. God sees what you have done, He sees your pain, He sees how you have loved, He sees how you’ve poured out into the lives of your family and community, and He has blessings, promises and encouragement for you today in His word. He loves you so deeply and He has big plans for your life.

Journal prompts:

• What did Ruth ask Boaz after he spoke to her for the first time? What does her response reveal about Ruth’s character?

• After reading these scriptures today, make a list of everything Boaz mentions he has heard and/or knows about Ruth and her reputation and character.

• Does my character cause people to want to follow God? What are some characteristics I have which would point people to Jesus? What are some characteristics I have which leads people away from Jesus and how do I need to change and correct my character and reputation?

• What are some areas of grief in my life I need to bring to God in prayer?

• Are there any areas in my life where I have been trying to bring attention to myself instead of waiting for God to promote me in His perfect timing? (1 Peter 5:6)

• Just like Ruth stewarded her work in the field, how can I steward my work with action and a better mindset in this season?

• What are some areas in my life I’m believing in God for redemption? Is there anything I’ve given up on where God is saying He has redemption for? Where do I need to increase my faith?

Make it personal:

• Our character should cause people to be curious about Jesus and build a reputation in the communities we are in.

• God sees you and the works of your hands, He sees your grief, suffering, pain, joy and happiness. He has blessings and promises for you in the midst of it all.

• God’s love is far greater than we can imagine!

• God is really good at favoring His daughters. His timing is perfect and He is sovereign!

• Our job is to keep serving Him, living in our identity as Daughter, being honest with our emotions and stewarding the work He has given us.

• He will take care of the details of the unknown roads we journey on in faith.

Prayer

Holy Father, I’m in awe of you. I can never grasp in my human capacity just how sovereign you are or the height, depth or width of your love. I know your word says no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no one’s heart has imagined all the things you have prepared for us because we love you. Even in our grief, you have prepared redemption. Jesus, I trust you with the redemption story you have for me, I trust you with the things I can’t see. Just like Ruth, help me to steward the things you’ve given me to steward with excellence, humility, honor and grace. I know you see the parts of my heart which are full of hurts, anger, disappointments or sadness, and I trust you with those parts of my heart. I don’t want to stuff down my emotions, but I know you gave us emotions, so God I want to be honest with you when I’m hurting. I pray for redemption over these areas where I’m still waiting on redemption. I know just like I read in Ruth, your timing of redemption is perfect. You see details I don’t see yet. Help me look for the details you’re in. Your redemption is always perfectly timely. Help me to live out a life worthy of the calling I’ve received (Ephesians 4:1-3) and help me to trust you with the work in my hands because I know if I’m obedient and steward what you tell me to steward, then in due time, I’ll reap my redemption harvest. (Galatians 6:9 and Deuteronomy 28) I love you, Jesus. And I love being your daughter. Amen!

Genesis 24:42-45

Introduction

God answers prayer! I love this story in the Bible because it’s (1) a good love story and (2) proof of answered prayer! How many women reading this love a good love story and also a story of answered prayer? There are so many beautiful moments in this story! But first I want to give a backstory on Abraham’s servant not in today’s scripture reading. Before the servant of Abraham stepped into his divine appointment, Abraham told him what to look for at his destination. And then once he thought he was at his destination, He prayed for confirmation. The servant heard the directions, then moved in faith, then prayed for confirmation. We can relate to both Rebekah and the servant in scripture. But when it comes to relating to the servant, it’s important for us to see he HEARD the directions from his master first, he had specific scenarios he was looking for because he heard his directions, then moved. It’s so important for us women of God to linger long enough in prayer to get the directions first before we move in faith and pray for confirmations.

If we don’t spend enough time listening to the Holy Spirit for directions and we skip the “hearing the directions from Holy Spirit” part, then we will find ourselves praying for confirmations and having faith over situations God hasn’t even blessed or taken us into.

God won’t always give every detail, He’ll give a few steps at a time. He didn’t tell the servant Rebekah’s name, weight, hair color, etc. But he did give guidance. Wait long enough to hear the guidance, then move in the direction He’s leading you. Abraham’s servant heard the directions, then moved in faith, and while he was moving, the servant kept praying and kept seeking direction and confirmation. There are two other moments I want to point out to you. First, did you notice it was in the middle of Rebekah’s mundane chores (another “woman at the well” moment) when God intervened? She was working, she was busy, and suddenly, she had a divine intervention. I wonder what her response was at this moment. I wonder if her heart was open to the interruption. I wonder if she was annoyed with Abraham’s servant asking her to give him water or if she was unbothered and open to his interruption.

Whether she was annoyed or not, scripture said “she quickly” responded and offered him a drink, plus she offered to do more than he even asked her for and gave water to his camels too. This leads me to believe Rebekah was most likely a woman of kindness and excellence. She went above and beyond in what was asked of her. I wonder how many divine interruptions we dismissed in our past because we were too busy with our own work or too busy to serve the people God placed in our lives.

In this scenario, Rebekah was saying yes to her future blind date set up with her husband, just by being willing to serve the person in front of her. Little did she know the effects of her “yes” to her divine interruption. The 12 tribes of Israel came out of Rebekah’s willingness to serve the person in front of her! I wonder what the effects of your willingness have been or will be. Don’t tell me God isn’t in the midst of your mundane moments.

The second moment I want to point out in these scriptures is when the servant said, “before I finished praying in my heart, Rebekah came out, with her jar on her shoulder”. If I’m being honest, this scripture makes me emotional. Where are all my prayer warrior women? This scripture should bring so much peace to our hearts! Before he was even finished praying, the answer was on its way! (Check out Daniel 9:23 for some more encouragement on answered prayer!) These scriptures lighten my load, I hope they lighten your load too. Jesus is in the business of divine interventions and answered prayer. Stay consistent with what He has given you to steward and keep praying. He’s moving in your life!

Journal prompts:

• Read the first sentence of verse 45 again. How does this verse stir up your faith?

• Fill in the blank. The first verse of our scriptures today reveals the servant asking God to “make his journey __________.”

• What areas of your life are you asking God to make successful?

• Are there any people in your life God has asked you to serve and love who you’ve delayed reaching out to?

• Are there any areas in your life where you need to hear from the Holy Spirit before you move in faith?

• We as Christians need to be praying for directions and for the confirmation of God. It’s important to be bold in prayer! As you journal and process with the Holy Spirit over this scripture, ask Him where He is leading you and ask Him to confirm the direction He’s leading you in and to confirm the people or opportunities He wants you to partner with. Remember, God doesn’t always give specific detailed directions, He will give you guidance. (Psalm 119:105)

• Take some time to remember and journal through some memories when God quickly answered your prayers. God doesn’t always answer prayers quickly because His timing is perfect! However, in the times of waiting, it’s good to reflect on the areas He has answered quickly because it will settle your spirit knowing if He’s done it before, He can do it again. His timing is perfect!

Make it personal:

• It’s so important to linger long enough in prayer to get the directions from the Holy Spirit, and to HEAR from Him first before we move.

• God answers prayer! Sometimes He moves quickly in our eyes and sometimes He moves slower, but He is sovereign and the story of Rebekah and Isaac reveals God confirms and answers prayer.

• God cares about who you marry! He cares about who He has designed us to do life with. Look at how He set up Isaac and Rebekah.

• Not only in marriage but also God cares about who you are in any relationship with. (Friendship, community, pastors, mentors, etc.)

• God is in the midst of your mundane moments and He loves to interrupt us in our daily movements and busyness of life.

• We need to stay open to serving and loving the people around us in our day-to-day lives, we never know when God might be setting our story up with a divine interruption.

• Are there any areas in your life you’re not asking God to make successful? Or are there any areas in your life you’re just “coasting through” without asking God to be involved in those areas? This passage reminds us of the importance of asking God to bring success into our lives where He wills it.

Prayer

Father, thank you for the Bible and these true stories of radical divine interruptions and interventions. Help me to hear your directions in my life. Help me to listen better to your voice. Help me to stay open to your directions and divine appointments in my day-to-day life. I trust you are a God who wants to work in my mundane moments and you care deeply for me. I ask you to give me eyes to see and ears to hear when you’re sending people into my life you want me to serve and to love on. I want to respond to your divine interruptions in a way which pleases you. I want to be in the center of your will, God, and when you’re setting me up with a divine appointment which affects my destiny, I want to respond with a servant’s heart just as Rebekah did. If there’s anything in my life I’m holding back from you in prayer, bring it to my attention now, I ask for your confirmations in the way that you’re leading me. I ask you to lead me to divine connections and purposes you have for me in order to bring about your will in my life! I trust you and I am so grateful you hear all of my prayers. I’m so grateful you have good plans prepared for me. (1 Corinthians 2:9) My life is yours, do what you please with me. I trust you. Help me live with my eyes wide open, focused on the path you have for me and open to divine interruptions. I love you so much, Jesus. And I love being your daughter. Amen!

Introduction

We as women have so much to relate to with the woman with the issue of blood. I love how the beginning verse reads ‘she had spent all she had on doctors and yet could not be healed by any’. How often do we ‘spend all we have on other resources before we go to Jesus? Emotionally, mentally, physically we go go go and spend all our efforts into resources around us before we approach Jesus. Is going to Jesus in prayer your reflex when disaster strikes? Or do you spend all you have to try and fix your problem somewhere else first?

As women of child bearing ages, we can empathize with her even to the smallest degree; we understand the frustrations and disruptions our “once a month visit from womanhood” can bring. Ladies, this is a little TMI but I want you to truly think about this with me. Can you imagine 12 years of menstruation? On average a woman menstruates for 7-10 years throughout her entire lifetime. This woman experienced what most women will never experience in a single lifetime, consistently, without stopping, over a period of 12 years. Can you imagine the hormonal exhaustion she was going through? The torment of emotions and physical depletion she carried. She had to have been so weak. I know we can all relate to feeling weak.

Do you notice her discreteness in vs. 44 and vs. 47. She approached him from behind, possibly trying not to be noticed, she just wanted to get a touch of Him because she knew if she could just touch him, she’d be healed. It’s possible there were so many people in the crowd, coming from behind was her only point of entry due to the crowd. Either way, the language leads me to believe she was most likely trying to be discreet because of her response to Jesus when she realized she had been made known. In vs. 47 you see her discreteness because she did not make herself known to Jesus until she was discovered, and while we don’t know for sure, it leads me to wonder if she was purposefully trying to hide.

Isn’t it so funny how often we want to be discrete in our prayers because we feel like Jesus doesn’t need to be bothered with it? Or maybe like this woman, you see the crowds who need Jesus, and think the crowds’ prayers are more important to Jesus than our own. But the word says that He gives His spirit without limit. (John 3:34) There’s enough of Jesus for the entire world. Jesus wants to be bothered with our prayers. He calls us daughter and He wants us to approach Him with boldness (Hebrews 4:16), because we’re His beloved.

Vs. 46 reveals that Jesus knew someone reached out to Him. Our faith will cause Jesus to see us. Jesus called her out so He could see her, and she came ‘trembling and fell down before Him.’ This reveals her humility. I wonder and would absolutely love to know what her name was. But Jesus knew that wouldn’t be important, because He didn’t want her name to overshadow His name for her, ‘Daughter’. Jesus calls you His daughter. (2 Corinthians 6:18 and John 1:12) I love that the section of the Bible is titled the woman with the issue of blood, but I sort of wish it would have been titled ‘the woman called daughter’. Jesus wants us to focus on her transformation, noticing how she was known by her issue to the world, but she was known as ‘Daughter’ to Him.

Today whatever your issues you are carrying, I hope you’re reminded that if you believe Jesus is the only way to the Father, and He died and came back to life for you, then you are adopted as His daughter, as a co-heir of King Jesus and He calls you daughter. (Romans 10:9, Romans 8:17) There’s nothing you can’t approach Him over and there’s no illness He can’t heal. I love the last verse when Jesus says “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” God is charging her to be settled in her spirit, to have peace because of her faith.

Can you imagine how unsettled her physical body would be after bleeding for 12 years and the peace she was so deeply desiring physically and emotionally? I encourage you in prayer today to take a physical posture on your knees, a posture where you would have to be in order to touch the end of Jesus’ robe. I encourage you to spend some time humbly falling down before the Lord today in prayer. Pray bold prayers of faith and ask for His peace. He is your healer and He wants to remind you just how powerful He is. Stir up your faith and receive His peace, God wants to move in your life.

• If you need physical healing today, journal about the physical healing you’re asking and believing God for in your body.

• If you don’t need physical healing today ask yourself, who can I have faith in prayer for regarding their physical healing?

• Where are some areas in my life where I’m feeling weak? Have I asked God for strength in those areas?

• Read vs. 47 and 48 again. What was the reaction of the woman after she was discovered by Jesus? How do you imagine her tone and body language when reading about her experience with Jesus? Would you consider her timid and humble? If so, why?

• Has there been a time where you felt “discovered” by Jesus in front of others? How did you respond?

• How long did this woman suffer with her physical condition? In what ways can you relate to her long-suffering?

• Has there been a time in your life where you felt like you needed to be “discreet” when approaching Jesus? How did God show you that He sees you after your prayer?

• What do I need to have faith for today?

Make it personal:

• God loves bold faith.

• Going to the feet of Jesus should be our first response to the issues of life.

• Sometimes a physical posture is necessary in prayer to align our flesh with our soul and spirit.

• We can approach Jesus, even when we’re at our weakest.

• Our discreet “little” prayers are still noticed by God.

• Jesus sees you.

• If you are a woman of God who has responded to Jesus in faith, through salvation, God calls you daughter! Take a deep breath and receive this truth today that you are a co-heir of King Jesus and a daughter of the King.

• Faith and Peace work in tandem. Pray prayers of faith and ask to receive His peace.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for the story of the woman with the issue of blood and for her testimony of healing. Thank you for calling me daughter just as you called her daughter. (2 Corinthians 6:18, John 1:12) I see her courage, strength and humility to approach you even when she was exhausted and had spent all she had on earthly resources. I thank you for the wisdom and insight of the doctors in this day and age, and I thank you for the wisdom and wise counsel of Counselors and Pastors, but Jesus, I ask that you would help me come to you first instead of depending on the resources of the world first. Jesus, I ask that you would give me the courage, faith and strength to approach you, even when I’m weak. Thank you that when I am weak, you are my strength. (2 Corinthians 12:10) Thank you that you hear all my prayers of faith, even the prayers that feel “little” to me or the ones I feel too scared to ask for, thank you that you care about those too. I know that you see me and I trust that you see me. Give me the boldness to reach out to you when I’m in need. I believe that you are able to do more than I could even think or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20) I believe that you are my healer and provider. (Psalm 103:2-3, Philippians 4:19) I believe that you call me Daughter and that you’re my Father. How sweet it is to trust in you Jesus and to be yours. I love you, Jesus. And I love being your daughter. Amen!

Introduction

The woman at the well is such an intricate story. There is so much truth packed inside her interaction with Jesus. However, I’m going to strip this back today to one of my favorite (and maybe not so obvious) moments sticking out to me as I read this truth; Jesus approaches her first. Right away we see a story of pursuit. Jesus meets her while she’s doing her mundane task for the day. Many times as women we put pressure on ourselves to “get to the prayer room” and to “read your bible” but here you see Jesus approach her first. I am not negating the value and extreme importance of getting alone to pray; we see Jesus do this consistently throughout the gospels. However, I am challenging you to have this perspective when you enter your prayer room, Jesus is pursuing you first. I think this is such a picture of beautiful pursuit and is a reminder to women it’s not always about you coming to Jesus with your laundry list of prayer requests, but He is actually pursuing you while you’re doing your everyday tasks. You can talk to him while you’re doing the dishes, folding laundry, watering your plants, sitting through meetings, typing an email, shopping at the grocery store, feeding your sourdough discard, or emptying your dishwasher. Women love a good love story full of pursuit, and the woman at the well story is packed with pursuit from Jesus. If you keep reading, you see Jesus is engaging her in conversation through questions, he is making himself approachable at a time in history where it would have been inconceivable for Jews to associate with Samaritans. She even confronts Jesus about why he’s talking to her and pushes back on his questions! I love her tenacity. She responds to Jesus’ questions with questions for him. (Honestly, this story is quite funny in their banter back and forth.) How often do we do this with Jesus? Today I hope you are reminded, you can banter and have prayer with Jesus even when you’re doing your mundane tasks. He sees your past, He sees your future, and He is pursuing you in your present.

Journal prompts:

• What are some practical ways I can remind myself to invite Jesus into conversations during my day-to-day tasks? (E.g., Set a reminder on my phone to read scripture on my lunch break, set a reminder to take ten minutes in the afternoon to get away and pray, create a routine for self-reflection to ensure you’re not stuffing down any pain that you haven’t brought to Jesus in prayer.)

• Is there anything in my life hindering my courage to approach Jesus in prayer?

• How do you think you would have responded to Jesus if you were the woman at the well after He healed you?

• What are some ways in my life journey that I’ve seen Jesus pursue me?

• When I’m in my daily “movements”, do I have an open heart for a divine interruption with Jesus?

• God loves to meet women in our mundane moments throughout our days!

• You can have an encounter with Jesus in the prayer room, but you can also have an encounter with him at your kitchen sink!

• The woman at the well was bold in her conversation with Jesus, and He knows her heart! This scripture reminds us to be bold with Jesus, there’s nothing He can’t see, there’s nothing He doesn’t know, He’s sovereign.

• The woman at the well reminds us to have tenacity in our conversations with Jesus!

Prayer

Father, thank you for how you pursued the woman at the well and for your unmatchable love. Help me to be like the woman at the well, who was open to your interruptions, and curious of your questions and bold in her conversations with you. Help me to not put so much pressure on myself to bring my prayer list to you every morning before I listen to what questions or guidance you have for me. Help me remember our relationship is not based on my prayer list, but based on your pursuit for your bride and my pursuit back to you. Your pursuit is greater than my pursuit because there is no love like yours. Thank you for how you want to meet me in my mundane moments. I want to have conversations with you while I’m moving throughout my day. I’m a woman on the move, but I don’t want to move without you. I hear you talking to me through John 4. I’m reminded that you love me and want to pursue me just like you loved and pursued the woman at the well. I love you too, Jesus. And I love being your daughter. Amen!

I’ve been in the world of Ezekiel for awhile.

Ezekiel is a wild ride of visions and encounters that honestly make you awestruck.

As you know from my last Substack (and my writing in general) I am always enamored with God being in the details.

I recently read Ezekiel 42:20. “…to separate the holy from the common.”

A part of my devotional from Ezekiel chapters 40-42 reads this (regarding the temple vision):

God gives Ezekiel this vision in 573 BC, at a time when His people are in exile in a foreign land. For God to go on for nine chapters about the temple here is like Him showing up and saying, “I know you’ve lost everything. I know the First Temple was destroyed—the one Solomon built about 350 years ago. I know we’re all living here in the land of our enemies, but I want you to remember that I’ve got a detailed plan for restoration. You’re not forgotten, and I’m with you!” -taken from the Bible Recap

God always has a plan for restoration.

God is always in the details.

And I think what I honestly hate the most regarding our human nature is how quickly we get distracted and forget that there is always something God is working on.

We so quickly lose our awe and wonder about how present He is.

We are so forgetful and allow our human nature to limit our supernatural experiences because we don’t intentionally tap into the wonders of Holy Spirit.

“Don’t forget His benefits” - Psalm 103:2

Sure, we walk around in relationship with Him in the mundane, but how quickly do we forget the Creator of heaven and earth is literally living inside of us.

You are a holy temple and a royal priesthood. 1 Peter 2:9

As I step into 2026, I feel a soberness about where God is taking the church.

I sense corrections coming to His bride about the Holiness of God and the Holiness He wants to take us into.

I sense a massive invitation from Holy Spirit inviting us into a greater awareness and co-laboring He wants us to do with Him.

And I sense Him urging us to guard our hearts.

Which brings me back to Ezekiel 42:20 - “to separate the holy from the common”.

As I read these words in scripture, the phrase “Guard your heart” started going off like a fire alarm in my mind.

Jesus was so intentional in scripture to guard His heart by creating boundaries and He taught His followers to do the same.

We separate the holy from the common by creating healthy boundaries with the world.

Be in the world not of the world. See John 17:14-16.

Guard your heart.

Separate the holy from the common.

The holy and the unholy are separated in the temple that He is showing Ezekiel.

Jesus invites us into the holy place when we accept the truth that He died and rose again for your sins and commit our lives to following Him.

Common can be translated as profane and unholy.

I love how we see God showing us the importance of boundaries and guarding our hearts all throughout scripture—in both the Old and the New Testament.

Common doesn’t always appear unholy; this is why we have to lean into Holy Spirit for discernment.

There are many common things in this world that seem fine, good, and even “pure of heart,” but we need to guard our hearts by discerning what God calls common versus what God calls holy—and listen closely to discern where He is leading us.

I sense such a holiness over 2026.

He’s inviting us into deeper places of wonder and taking the limitations off of our faith.

But if we want to enter into this place of Holiness with Him, we have to separate ourselves from what is unholy.

We need to be diligent as we step into this new year to guard our hearts with a greater awareness that God is always beside us, working on something, and inviting us into that work with Him.

But if we allow what is unholy to take up our time, talent, resources—to fill our hearts, minds and eyes, it will cloud our awareness and distort our judgment on what truly is holy.

Ask God to speak to you this year and help you discern what is holy from what is unholy.

To separate the holy from the common…

So as you enter 2026, separate the holy from the common—from the profane and the unholy.

And watch God peel back the blinders from your eyes as you step into the most Holy Place with Him—His presence.

Work with Him as He restores your mundane into Kingdom Come moments.

Step into new levels of awareness that He is with you.

Step into new levels of awe and wonder.

I have two words for this year: Fervent and Holy. My scripture for the year is Ezekiel 42:20, and the phrase that will live rent free in my mind is this: “to fervently separate the holy from the common.”

He changes times and seasons.

The Holy Spirit speaks.

Ask Him to give you a word and a scripture, and watch Him begin something new in you this year.

Don’t get caught up in “the new.”

Just get caught up in the now and stay on track with where He wants to take you.

And keep growing.

2026 is going to be a really special year for the Bride of Christ.

Get your hopes up.

Because God is always up to something.

He is always in the details.

And you can always trust Him.

Restore our wonder of the Holy Place Lord—your presence.

There’s a sacredness to the Christmas season.

Luke 2:19 says, “But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them.”

Everyone has a different response to miracles.

Have you ever noticed that?

Some people respond with radical praise.

Some people respond with, “I have to tell someone about this!”

Some people respond with tears.

Some respond with awe and wonder.

But Mary’s response might be one of my favorites.

There’s a reverence and purity behind her response.

I’m not saying one response is better than the other.

The shepherds were meant to respond in the way they were.

And Mary was meant to respond the way she did.

I think we can learn from them all.

But I want to zoom into scripture in Mary’s response to the birth of Jesus.

“But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them.” Luke 2:19

Meditating in this sense can be translated as pondering, or to bring together.

Treasured in this sense can be translated as preserving, observing, and keeping.

Mary didn’t just witness a miracle; she also birthed a miracle.

The Christmas story of Jesus being born is miraculous.

The Christmas season should really be about treasuring, pondering, preserving and bringing together in our hearts and minds all of the miracles of Christmas—and the miracles He has done in our lives—and praising God for them.

There’s a challenge from Holy Spirit that I believe He brings to the church every Christmas.

Will we renew our minds in the truth of His miracles?

There’s an awe and a reverence I think Mary was able to tap into—one that this verse invites us into.

What will we take time to ponder and preserve in our hearts this Christmas?

Slow down this season.

Stop and be in the moment of the miracles God has done in your life.

Treasure the miraculous story of Jesus Christ coming to earth for you.

Talk about it with your family.

Ponder it.

Preserve it in your heart.

And then ask the Holy Spirit, “What other miracles have you done for me this year that you want me to treasure in my heart the way Mary did?”

When I read this verse, I just picture Mary holding Jesus, staring into the face of her miracle, preserving this memory in her mind—taking in the moment so she can hold onto it and remember her miracle story forever.

What miracle do you need to take hold of in your heart?

Is there a miracle you haven’t given God credit for?

Is there something you need to spend more energy preserving in your heart?

Take time to treasure and to preserve what God has done in your life.

Don’t rush into the next season without preserving and acknowledging what God has done in the present and the past.

How you honor and steward your miracles in this season will reflect what is given to you in the next.

“But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them.” Luke 2:19

This phrase has got me through the harvest and valleys in my life these past few years and the way God has shown Himself to me the most.

If you read my Substack regularly, you know I’ve been reading the Old Testament lately.

This week I read Ezekiel 41 and 42, and these chapters are insanely detailed.

Ezekiel is having visions that lists measurement after measurement after measurement.

Two full chapters of God painting a picture of a temple—down to the smallest detailed measurement.

You cannot convince me our God is not a God of details.

The timing of things in my life have not been ordinary.

At times, the timing has looked delayed or out of order by the world’s standards.

But not by God’s.

He created me—and you—for such a time as this.

And His timing is always perfect.

As I took a break from Ezekiel today and read Luke 2 this verse jumped off the page:

While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. Luke 2:6

Time.

God knew where they would be.

It was prophesied He would be called a nazarene.

The detail and precision of God’s timing is unmatched and unexplainable.

God knows where you’ve been, where you are, and where you’re going. Psalm 139

He knows when your time will be.

The end of the year often brings pressure—to take inventory of what has been and to plan for what will be.

And I’m not saying it’s wrong to reflect or to plan.

But what if we processed it through the lens of God being in the details of your time and your story—just as much as He was in the details of Mary’s?

I’ve always loved the story of Mary.

I’m not entirely sure why.

I’ve just always been drawn to her faith and her bravery.

She carried a level of courage we can hardly comprehend.

So today, this is my encouragement:

I don’t know what you are birthing in this season.

I don’t know how you feel about the timing of your life.

But I promise you this—

God is in the details of your life.

And His timing is perfect.

Even if it feels off.

Even when it feels delayed.

He will work it for good. Romans 8:28

You serve a perfect God.

One who is able to do immeasurably more than you could ask, think, or imagine. Ephesians 3:20

Surrender every part of your life to Him.

And you may just find yourself in Mary’s shoes.

Just like Luke 2:6 says, “While they were there, the time came for her to give birth.”

And one day, you might find yourself saying:

“And while I was ______, the time came for me to ______—because God’s plan was perfect and far beyond anything I could have dreamed up or imagined for myself.”

Don’t give up hope.

God is in the details.

The story of Hannah in the Bible has always been close to my heart.

For many reasons.

1. Because my name is also Hannah.

2. Because Hannah was a woman of prayer, and I also have a deep love for prayer.

Let’s read this together.

1 There was a man from Ramathaim-zophim in the hill country of Ephraim. His name was Elkanah son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, an Ephraimite. 2 He had two wives, the first named Hannah and the second Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah was childless. 3 This man would go up from his town every year to worship and to sacrifice to the Lord of Armies at Shiloh, where Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were the Lord’s priests.

4 Whenever Elkanah offered a sacrifice, he always gave portions of the meat to his wife Peninnah and to each of her sons and daughters. 5 But he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved her even though the Lord had kept her from conceiving. 6 Her rival would taunt her severely just to provoke her, because the Lord had kept Hannah from conceiving. 7 Year after year, when she went up to the Lord’s house, her rival taunted her in this way. Hannah would weep and would not eat. 8 “Hannah, why are you crying?” her husband, Elkanah, would ask. “Why won’t you eat? Why are you troubled? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”

9 On one occasion, Hannah got up after they ate and drank at Shiloh. The priest Eli was sitting on a chair by the doorpost of the Lord’s temple. 10 Deeply hurt, Hannah prayed to the Lord and wept with many tears. 11 Making a vow, she pleaded, “Lord of Armies, if you will take notice of your servant’s affliction, remember and not forget me, and give your servant a son, I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and his hair will never be cut.”

12 While she continued praying in the Lord’s presence, Eli watched her mouth. 13 Hannah was praying silently, and though her lips were moving, her voice could not be heard. Eli thought she was drunk 14 and said to her, “How long are you going to be drunk? Get rid of your wine!”

15 “No, my lord,” Hannah replied. “I am a woman with a broken heart. I haven’t had any wine or beer; I’ve been pouring out my heart before the Lord. 16 Don’t think of me as a wicked woman; I’ve been praying from the depth of my anguish and resentment.”

17 Eli responded, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant the request you’ve made of him.”

18 “May your servant find favor with you,” she replied. Then Hannah went on her way; she ate and no longer looked despondent.

Samuel’s Birth and Dedication

19 The next morning Elkanah and Hannah got up early to worship before the Lord. Afterward, they returned home to Ramah. Then Elkanah was intimate with his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. 20 After some time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, because she said, “I requested him from the Lord.”

I love scripture.

This verse might be one of my favorites in scripture:

But he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved her even though the Lord had kept her from conceiving. 1 Samuel 1:5

Her double portion blessings from her husband still did not fully satisfy the longing of her heart.

God still had limits on her double portion.

Hannah was blessed.

Deeply loved.

But the deepest desire of her heart was still being kept from her, because it wasn’t time.

Time is so important to our Father.

And sometimes the greatest thing we have to surrender to Him is our timeline and trust that in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Hannah had a double portion.

But was taunted by her rival Peninnah.

She went to the temple in prayer year after year after year.

Her husband felt inadequate in keeping her satisfied.

Even the love of her husband could not satisfy her.

But yet, scripture said she would receive double portion blessings.

She was deeply loved by the Father and blessed in her life.

But she knew there was more.

Have you ever felt deeply loved by God and yet aware that something He planted inside you has not yet come to life?

Your faith and your “spiritual eyes” can see your dreams hanging in the balance.

She knew there was more.

Hannah weeped because she knew she was meant to have a child.

She went to the Lord’s temple year after year after year desiring more in her life.

I wonder how often Hannah would pray in her heart for a child over the years.

I don’t know how often she asked, scripture just records once, but what I love is that we see God saw her heart before she even asked.

What’s the more you’re desiring?

God sees it.

Deeply hurt, Hannah prayed to the LORD and wept with many tears. 1 Samuel 1:10

I LOVE verse 13.

I’ve read these scriptures so many times over the years and I never saw verse 13 until recently.

13: Hannah was praying silently… and though her lips were moving, her voice could not be heard.

While I am an advocate for praying out loud, there was a weight that came off of me when I read this scripture recently.

It wasn’t about the words she prayed.

The Father didn’t bless her ability to articulate her heart.

He blessed her ability to simply surrender the heart itself.

It was simply just her being and her physical emotion which the Father blessed, heard and saw.

Yes, her mouth was moving, she was in despair, but she was too weak to speak.

Have you been there in prayer?

I know I have.

I have been there many times.

I’m crying now because I still can remember the feeling of the prayer room in utter turmoil when grief is so heavy.

And the safest place to feel like you’re losing your mind from grief, sadness, anger and desperation is at the feet of Jesus.

Peace still consumes me when I pause to remember those times with the Lord in my deepest grief, because His presence was tangible when I allowed myself to be fully surrendered to Him in my despair.

She was praying so desperately Eli thought she was drunk!

She responded to Eli: “I’ve been praying from the depth of my anguish and resentment.”

Resentment is translated as grief, sadness and anger.

I sometimes think we’re too ashamed to take our grief and anger to Jesus, and we let it work itself out in a worldly manner.

This looks different for everyone.

But what if we allowed our anguish, grief, anger and resentment work itself out in a spiritual manner, in prayer.

Anguish and Resentment should bring you to the feet of Jesus.

What if we were so desperate for the Lord, we looked foolish in prayer?

I’m not talking about “God pity me prayers” where you walk out of the prayer room feeling heavier then before you came in, that most likely wasn’t prayer if this was your experience.

I’m talking about the desperate prayers, where you walk away having such a holy boldness and confidence that there is no way God missed that prayer.

Don’t miss this next part.

“Hannah went on her way…no longer despondent.”

Despondent is translated as sad, loss of hope and courage.

She was no longer sad.

She was no longer without hope and without courage.

A weight had been exchanged.

Her despondence for His blessing.

19: And the Lord remembered her.

And she became pregnant and gave birth to a son.

In her Father’s perfect timing, He gave her the desire of her heart.

I don’t know what you’re believing for, but Hannah’s desperation moved the heart of God.

Hannah had to move her body into a posture of desperate prayer.

And then walk away with hope.

She went early into a place of worship.

A holy place.

Before the miracle came to pass, she had to seek her Father in prayer.

She believed God could do this for her, otherwise why would she have even asked?

She had to align her physical being, walk into the temple, not allow the fear of man keep her from looking foolish in a holy place, and knock on the door of her supernatural God and ask for a supernatural miracle.

Just like Hannah…

He remembers you.

And your prayers.

He made you.

He is your provider.

Keep talking to Him.

Keep asking Him for the deepest desires of your heart.

I don’t know what you’r believing for, but activate your faith with a physical act.

Don’t be afraid to look foolish before your Father.

He sees your heart already.

Feel what you need to feel while you’re safe in His presence.

Get desperate before the Father.

He just wants your heart, all of your heart.

Exchange your weight of resentment, grief, anger and sadness for the Father’s strategy, wisdom, hope, healing, direction, and answers.

He has everything you need.

Get your hopes up.

Because we serve a God who still does miracles.

His timing is perfect.

Trust Him.

Trust Him with your whole heart.

19: And the Lord remembered her.

Transparently, my one-year reading plan has taken me over two years, and I’m still going and won’t stop until the end of the book.

But I like taking my time and digesting it piece by piece instead of cramming it all into a year.

I digress.

Back to the Old Testament.

A theme I’m noticing as I read through the major prophets’ books (Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah) is pride and arrogance run rampant in leadership and in cities.

It seems to take over entire territories.

And the thing is, it’s contagious!

If a leader has pride,

their people will also have pride.

And there is one theme I’m picking up on over and over and over again:

God.

Opposes.

The prideful.

I mean in the New Testament he literally says he hates it (James 4:6).

This isn’t just a New Testament theme.

It’s an Old Testament theme too.

It’s a BIBLE theme.

And it’s true.

Your arrogant heart has deceived you. Jeremiah 49:16

We have heard of Moab’s great pride. Jeremiah 48:29

All the people will know it—Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria—who say with pride and arrogance of heart… Isaiah 9:9

The Lord Almighty planned it, to bring down her pride in all her splendor and to humble all who are renowned on the earth. Isaiah 23:9

Your heart became proud because of your beauty; For the sake of your splendor you corrupted your wisdom. So I threw you down to the ground; I made you a spectacle before kings. Ezekiel 28:17

This is just a quick paraphrase of what I’ve been learning from the prophets the past few months.

God doesn’t mess around with pride.

Arrogance will lead you to idols.

Arrogance is destructive.

Arrogance always has a ripple effect.

Arrogance will lead you to pursue things above God.

Arrogance will lead to discipline and punishment.

Arrogance will lead to God stopping His blessings from pouring out into your life.

This scripture is heart-stopping, eye-opening, gut-wrenching: Jeremiah 43

Arrogant men is what led the people.

Arrogance led to disobedience.

Arrogant in Hebrew can be defined as:

arrogant, proud, insolent, presumptuous, rebellious

It’s important who you let speak into your life.

Guard your heart from arrogant leadership.

Pride and Arrogance is contagious and takes over hearts, minds, cities, territories and nations.

James 3:16 warns us, “For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.”

Proverbs 16:18 warns us “Pride comes before destruction and an arrogant spirit before a fall.”

Arrogance is a spirit.

We are to test the spirits.

1 John 4:1 tells us to test every spirit.

On the blue letter bible website, “test” is translated as:

prove (10x), try (4x), approve (3x), discern (2x), allow (2x), like (1x), examine (1x).

If you see arrogance in the people speaking into your life, examine and discern what you are noticing.

Pray and ask for God to give you eyes to see and ears to hear so you can discern the spirit you are encountering.

Guard your heart against arrogance.

How can you test arrogance?

Examine the fruit of their life and the words they speak (reflective of their heart), does it prove their lives depend on God? Or themselves?

Does the fruit of their life reveal the fruit of the Spirit?

Get practical.

Do the words from their mouth speak truth or constant accusation that God and His words are something to be questioned OR something to live by?

Are they motivated by their selfish ambition or Kingdom Come ambition?

Are they motivated by their own opinions or are they eager to learn from wise counsel?

Are they manipulative or adaptable?

Are they quick to speak or more quick to listen?

Do they have difficulty working with others?

Are they selfish or humble?

Do they hoard what they have or are they generous?

Discern the Difference.

Guard your heart.

Signs of prideful leadership you shouldn’t ignore:

• Constant degrading/belittling of their inner circle, nothing is good enough while outwardly praising and highlighting the ones not as close to them.

• Withholding from those close to them.

• The team is afraid to approach the leader or ask questions that may challenge them.

• Overuse of the phrase “there is always room to grow” as manipulation in degrading or belittling performance.

• A major lack of affirmations.

• They may not gossip to the masses but they will gossip to their trusted few.

• Constant accusation of people who are more successful than them.

• They are threatened by success.

• They have an easy time celebrating people less successful then them but can’t celebrate the ones who are where they want to be

• Will not make time or prioritize celebrating their teams or those close to them.

• Only generous if it makes them look good.

• Celebrates people online but not in person.

• Motivated by their own opinions and not the opinions of their team.

• Selfish motives.

• Has control issues.

• A micro-manager.

• Constant meetings with no follow through.

• Likes hearing themselves talk without action.

• Delegates more than they take ownership.

• Scared to ask someone an opinion who disagrees with them.

• Not approachable.

• Often charming.

• In the moment you feel encouraged by a conversation with them, but then walk away questioning the meanings of back handed compliments.

• Passive Aggressive or Overly Aggress communication style.

• Quick to speak and slow to listen.

• Not a team player.

• “Acts approachable” but lets a spirit of fear run rampant on their team.

• Only generous if it makes them look good

Arrogance is a contagious spirit.

It infiltrates itself into friend groups, churches, communities, cities and territories.

And the funny thing is, arrogance often has a root of insecurity.

Arrogance is often just a mask of insecurity.

Arrogance is often just insecurity overcompensating for itself.

It’s an identity issue.

It’s an approval-of-man issue.

And here’s what the Bible says about your identity and approval of man:

1. A main goal in life should be to please God, not man.

2. You are chosen, you are royal, you are a royal priesthood, a holy nation and God’s special possession.

3. You are a temple of the Holy Spirit.

4. You are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

5. You are an heir of God, coheirs with Christ.

10 For am I now trying to persuade people,[a] or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

19 Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own… 1 Corinthians 6:19

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Ephesians 1:3

17 and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. Romans 8:17

People who hide these scriptures (and so many more) in their heart are not led by a spirit of pride.

Be careful who you let lead you.

The world feels louder lately.

Time feels more sacred.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been quieter on here.

When this happens, I tend to withdraw from all forms of social media outlets.

Like most of the world, I’ve been trying to gather my pain and thoughts about Charlie Kirk, Iryna Zarutska, the September 11th anniversary, differing opinions, the church, etc.

All of this death and reminders of death are everywhere.

But…

The church is seeing revival.

This is a fact, not an opinion.

My church alone mentioned it had 200+ kids than normal the week Charlie was murdered.

People around the globe are flooding to church to seek out Jesus and a relationship with Him.

While I’ve had tears of grief.

The church exploding and people turning to Jesus bring me tears of joy.

There is a reawakening of faith in Jesus, and it’s BEAUTIFUL.

There has been too much death recently.

But with this death comes an awakening.

It’s wild how death causes people to remember their utter dependence on God.

It’s waking people up.

It’s waking the church up.

It’s reminding us of our humanity.

Life is a vapor.

You have one life on earth.

And that life will affect your eternal life.

It matters what you do on this side of heaven.

God is in the details.

If you give Him your life, your whole heart devoted to loving Him, He will make what the enemy meant for harm turn to good.

Romans 8:28

Genesis 50:20

And we are seeing God turn it for good on a mass scale.

So, my encouragement to you today is this: don’t just post about Jesus, tell someone to their face about Jesus.

What you do with your time is important.

The internet is really loud.

Get off social media for more than 24 hours, because social media isn’t reality.

Your life in front of you is reality.

What God calls you to do everyday is reality.

Life is a precious gift.

And the questions that keeps repeating in my mind every day is this…

“What has God asked me to steward today? Who does He want me to talk to today?”

And then do that for the day.

Time is sacred.

Use it wisely.

James 4:14

14 Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes.

Matthew 6:25-34

25 “Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? 27 Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? 28 And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. 30 If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you—you of little faith? 31 So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

This phrase has been on repeat in my mind lately.

Matthew 7:15-20

15 “Be on your guard against false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.

16 You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?

17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit.

18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit.

19 Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20 So you’ll recognize them by their fruit.”

Jesus teaches us to “be on guard”.

AKA God wants us to have boundaries with people.

Jesus was very straight forward in these verses.

Don’t let everyone speak into your life.

It matters.

The world is loud.

The internet is loud.

But pray for the voice of Holy Spirit to be the loudest voice.

The beginning of Matthew 7 starts off by teaching not to judge, but then it goes on to tell us we should recognize the fruit in others.

This can be confusing at first glance.

But I read in a commentary by Chuck Smith that he articulated so well:
“Jesus is saying basically that we are not to condemn but we are to discriminate.”

We need to be able to differentiate between good and bad fruit in someone’s life.

How do we do this?

By looking at what their life is producing.

“You’ll recognize” is translated as this (from blue letter bible):
to become thoroughly acquainted with, to know thoroughly

• to know accurately, know well

• to know

• to recognize

  • by sight, hearing, of certain signs, to perceive who a person is

• to know i.e. to perceive

• to know i.e. to find out, ascertain

• to know i.e. to understand

Let’s do a deep dive and look into the translations of sheep, wolves, false prophets and fruit.

What is a “false prophet”?

The word false can be translated as many things in the Hebrew:
Violent, cruel, unrighteous, deceitful, liar, deceived, vanity, vain, idol, evil.

The word prophet can be translated as many things in Hebrew (and a few of the following I also received from commentaries on blue letter bible):

• One who reveals or declares the words of God to man

• To pour forth words abundantly

• One who speaks with divine emotion of mind

• Rebuking the wicked and predicting future events

• To prophesy, i.e. speak (or sing) by inspiration (in prediction or simple discourse)

So basically, pouring out the words of God in vain, in deceit, as liars, unrighteously and in evil = false prophet.

Translations of fruit:

1. fruit

   • the fruit of the trees, vines, of the fields

   • the fruit of one's loins, i.e. his progeny, his posterity

2. that which originates or comes from something, an effect, result

   • work, act, deed

   • advantage, profit, utility

   • praises, which are presented to God as a thank offering

   • to gather fruit (i.e. a reaped harvest) into life eternal (as into a granary), is used in figurative discourse of those who by their labors have fitted souls to obtain eternal life

We’re called to discern and dissect the following:

• How they work.

• What they produce.

• How they act.

• If they praise God.

• What they gather.

• What they value.

• How they lead others to eternal life.

The only way to eternal life is through Jesus, so if they’re preaching anything other than that, it’s an immediate red flag.

Also, the number of people following someone on social media isn’t “fruit” in your pastors life.

The number of people attending your church isn’t “fruit” in your pastors life.

There were plenty of corrupt moves of God with thousands of people in attendance.

So quit weighing your pastors “fruit” by the amount of people in attendance on a Sunday or influence they have.

There have been many moves of God led by false prophets.

Influence should not be how we measure fruit.

The number of “followers” someone has on social media should not be how we measure fruit.

The number of people in attendance on a Sunday should not be how we measure fruit.

Let’s do another deep dive on wolves and sheep.

Matthew 7 teaches us that false prophets look like sheep but are ravaging wolves inside…

Sheep are cute, innocent, but hard to tame.

Here are some facts about sheep I found on google:

1. Rectangular Pupils:
   Sheep have rectangular pupils that provide them with a wide field of vision, nearly 360 degrees, which helps them detect predators.
   

2. Complex Emotions:
   Sheep are intelligent animals capable of experiencing a range of emotions, such as fear, joy, and boredom, and can even interpret the emotions of other sheep.
   

3. Exceptional Memory:
   They can recognize and remember the faces of other sheep and even humans for up to two years.
   

4. Scent-Based Communication:
   Sheep use scent glands located in front of their eyes and on their hooves to communicate with one another through various secretions.
   

5. Selective Grazers:
   Sheep are selective eaters and can distinguish between palatable plants and those that might be harmful, which helps them graze more effectively and maintain grassland biodiversity.
   

6. Close Social Bonds:
   Sheep are highly social animals that form strong bonds, not only with other sheep but also with humans, even showing signs of depression when isolated.
   

7. Ancient Domestication:
   Sheep were among the first livestock to be domesticated by humans, with their history of domestication dating back thousands of years.

So, if false prophets look like sheep, they will have the following:

1. Counterfeit vision - They seem like they “see the whole picture” but it’s deceptive. This will look like they have depth and perception that is pure, but it’s counterfeit.

2. Counterfeit emotions - Manipulative and emotionally deceptive. They manipulate you into believing what they feel is real.

3. Counterfeit discernment and communication - Impure motives.

4. Counterfeit emotional intelligence and relationships.

5. They “need” human attention to thrive.

6. Counterfeit appearance that they are sheep following the Good Shepherd, but they’re wolves inside, following their own selfish ambition, not God.

I’ll let you chew on these fun facts about sheep and wool and how they can be “counterfeit” in false prophets lives.

But I’ll just focus on my favorite one for now.

My favorite fact about sheep wool was number 4.

They can be comfortable in various environments.

False prophets can adapt, and help keep an atmosphere “warm or cold”, providing comfort, dependent on the need.

But inside they are “ravaging wolves.”

2. They Mating for Life
   A breeding pair of wolves typically mates for life, forming the core of their pack.

4. Superb Hunters
   Wolves are apex predators and skilled hunters, capable of taking down large animals.

6. Camouflage and Camouflage

So, if false prophets are truly wolves inside, they will:

1. Be large and intimidating.

2. Be loyal to “their pack/people.”

3. Be on a mission to kill, steal, and destroy.

4. Prey on both the weak and the strong.

5. Walk in high counterfeit discernment and use it to their own advantage for personal gain or for their “pack”, not for the well being of others.

6. Blend in when they need to.

7. Be masters of communication.

8. Thrive in many types of environments.

Sheesh…

We need to be aware of “wolf” like behavior which can produce bad fruit for us to recognize.

Let’s go back to the beginning.

So, you’ll recognize them by their fruit.

I started writing this blog because I was thinking about mega church pastors, social media influencers, popular authors, podcasters, etc… and asking myself how I can look at the fruit of their life without really knowing them.

And bottom line is,

you can only look at their fruit to an extent.

You have to discern the fruit of their life by staying close to Holy Spirit.

Ask Him for discernment. Ask him for wisdom.

Proverbs 2:6

For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

James 1:5

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.

Nowadays, with our access to knowledge through the internet, we receive information from false teachers probably daily.

We hear Biblical exegesis from 30 second clips, podcasts, sermons on YouTube, and mega pastors across the world, many people we will never know or meet.

We can only know pastors/teachers/prophets fruit by their reputation and by what we learn from looking at the fruit we see.

We won’t ever know them intimately.

So in a world full of voices, teachings, and platforms—how do we know who to trust?

We may not always be able to know someone’s life intimately, but we can know Jesus intimately.

He is the Good Shepherd.

He never leads with deceit.

He doesn’t manipulate with counterfeit emotions.

He produces fruit that is always good—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

So if you're not sure what’s true…

Look at the fruit you can see.

Be on guard.

Search for and recognize the counterfeits.

Stay close to the Good Shepherd.

Ask Him for increased discernment.

Stay grounded in Scripture.

Test what you hear. 1 John 4:1

Watch the fruit—not just the flashy content.

And most of all—stay close to the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.

In a world full of wolves in sheep’s clothing, we don’t have to live in fear.

We just have to stay rooted in the true Vine.

Because those connected to Him… will bear good fruit.

John 15:4-5

26.2 miles.

It remains one of the greatest accomplishments of my life.

And I distinctly still remember (and can still feel in my body) how I felt when I hit mile 17.

I had run 17 miles before.

But this time felt different.

Because I hadn’t paced myself at the start.

I was beat up.

Worn out.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I texted my husband, desperate for encouragement.

Because I wanted to quit.

But I chose to endure.

Running starts in your mind.

Because endurance is a choice.

I’ve been thinking a lot about endurance lately.

I just finished reading the book of Hosea.

Sheesh.

What a journey this book in the Old Testament is.

Faithfulness in the face of unfaithfulness.

Full of emotional ups and downs.

If I had to sum up Hosea in one Psalm, it would be this:

His steadfast love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1

Love endures.

Even in the face of unfaithfulness.

Webster’s dictionary defines endurance as this:

suffer (something painful or difficult) patiently.

Blue letter Bible defines some of the Hebrew words for “His loving kindness endures forever” in Psalm 136 as several things, but my favorite one was this:

Indefinite or unending future, eternity

In my mind (when I choose to endure during something hard, like running a marathon), it has an end in sight—and that’s what gives me the passion to keep going.

But in Jesus’ mind, there is no end to His enduring lovingkindness.

The “end” is us—in relationship with Him.

Romans 5:3-4 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Endurance is like the root system of character, hope, and the harvest of blessing.

Hebrews 10:36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

James 1:3 the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Isaiah 40:31 But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

If we endure in the things of God, we will receive His promises—His purposes—for us.

Our faith will be stronger.

But I love Isaiah 40:31 because in order to live out Kingdom Come endurance, we actually have to pause and wait on the Lord to receive the strength to endure.

So many times, we try to tap into our own strength, but physical endurance is much different than spiritual endurance.

Spiritual endurances starts in the prayer room.

With the door closed.

On your knees.

Emotions raw.

Bible open.

Talking to God.

Running a marathon taught me a lot about endurance.

It all started with the mental fortitude to choose to keep moving forward.

And your relationship with God—and with life—has to start with this same choice.

Keep moving forward in prayer.

Keep talking to Him.

Don’t stop making time with Him.

He will give you the strength.

You just have to choose the mental fortitude to say yes to relying on His strength, instead of trying to move forward in your own.

Endurance is simply a choice.

Father, we love and we trust you. We can’t endure this race called life without your strength. Thank you for your lovingkindness which endures forever. We are humbled by your never-ending all consuming love. We repent for trying to endure in our own strength. Test our faith and let us endure the trials you have for us—so that the testing of our faith produces endurance which comes from you. Thank you that your grace is sufficient for us, and when we are weak you are strong. We wait on you right now. Speak to us. Pour out your Holy Spirit. Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to know you better, Jesus. And let us suffer with Christ, producing character, hope and a harvest. Invade our lives with your Kingdom Come. Interrupt our mundane moments with miracles—for your namesake. Amen.

Honestly, there are many crises, and there always will be until Jesus comes back.

But a crisis that’s heavy on my heart is the lack of fathers in our nation.

And I believe this void in the nations is directly correlated to a lack of the revelation of who God the Father is— in heaven and earth—and the lack of the reflection of the Father heart of God in our christian fathers.

The statistics on fatherless homes or absent fathers on the earth is gut-wrenching.

We need a move of God among our men.

I’ve listened to a few sermons recently about the Father heart of God.

One sermon focused on how God loves to take care of His children and bless us. We are co-heirs and have access to heaven. What a privilege it is to be sons and daughters—yet so many Christians never fully tap into it.

The other sermon highlighted that while God loves to care for His children, we still need to work. He emphasized how the church can become entitled, lazy, and even spoiled.

Both sermons were valid and powerful.

Both were true.

But my takeaway?

It’s a “give and take” in our relationship with the Father.

God doesn’t just have a bunch of spoiled “royal” kids.

Yes, we have a Father who is rich—He is the ruler of heaven and earth and has everything we need.

But there is so much more to our relationship with Him.

I’m honestly blessed to have one of the best dad’s in the world.

I’ve never been afraid of my earthly Father.

I’ve always felt safe with him.

I’ve never been afraid to ask him for anything.

When I was a little girl and lived in his house, did he tell me no?

Absolutely.

Did he challenge me?

Absolutely.

He still challenges me.

And this is where I think the church gets it wrong.

It’s not one or there other.

It’s both.

A good Father will tell you no.

And a good Father will give you good gifts.

A good Father will encourage you.

And a good Father will challenge and command you.

God loves to take care of His kids.

And God loves to challenge His kids.

Why does the church have such a hard time with living out both of these truths at one time?

Why do we so often swing like pendulums to one side or the other?

We’re either too emotional or not emotional enough.

Too soft-hearted—or too hard-hearted.

Why?

I think it’s because we get too comfortable.

On one side, we have spoiled Christians, overly focused on their status as royal sons and daughters. Their favorite verse is:

“Ask and it will be given to you.” – Matthew 7:7

On the other side, we have works-based Christians, overly focused on building for God rather than knowing Him. Their favorite verse is:

“Faith without works is dead.” – James 2:26

Both are truth. We are royal, and we are called to build the Kingdom of God.

So, where is the happy medium?

It’s in knowing the Father.

It’s in R-E-L-A-T-I-O-N-S-H-I-P with the Father.

I was homeschooled in high school, and my dad would help me a lot—especially with math.

If he was in the middle of teaching me a lesson, he had his teaching voice on. He was a little more patient than normal, because he knew my sensitive heart would receive the lesson better. Yet he remained stern and direct, leading the communication with authority. He would ask me questions to help me learn.

If I interrupted him from teaching (with tears in my eyes frustrated that I wasn’t understanding the math problem) and said, “Dad, please just tell me the answer,”—he wouldn’t simply give it to me.

He would smile and say, “Okay, let’s do this again.”

Keyword: “let’s.”

He was with me. He didn’t leave me to figure it out alone.

And he always knew when I truly needed to hear him give me the answer in order to understand the lesson.

And he always knew when I needed to come to the conclusion myself.

But he never left me alone to figure it out.

He would sit with me.

I knew my dad well enough to know I was always safe to ask him for the answer.

There were many times I approached him with tears, frustrated with my limited capacity to understand the problem.

But I had to trust Him and His process for me to receive His answer.

Sometimes I had to put in the work.

And other times, I just had to ask.

My dad knows me and knew what I needed.

And I know him and always felt safe to ask him questions.

I wish we viewed the prayer room with the Father more like a reverent “HOME” school classroom.

He is our home.

And He is our teacher.

He is our provider.

And He is our helper.

There is a time to move in obedience (works based).

And there is a time to seek Him and rest in our home (royal son and daughter based).

We are going to face hard seasons.

I love these verses:

We will face valleys.

We will face dry seasons.

And in those hard seasons, God isn’t just going to coddle us, stroke our hair and “baby” us.

Yes, He will let us cry. And He wants us to cry in His presence.

But He won’t leave us there.

He’s going to ask us questions that challenge us.

He’s going to stretch and grow our faith.

Because the power of Jesus’ resurrected life lives inside of us.

He’s going to command us to prophesy into our dry places and speak life.

When God told Ezekiel to call the bones to life, what if Ezekiel had responded with, “I’m too tired and too sad—can you just do it for me?”

But that’s not what happened.

Because Ezekiel knew the Father.

And the Father knew Ezekiel.

Ezekiel knew he was a co-heir, a son of God.

He knew what he had access to.

And He didn’t use that access as a crutch or to be spoiled and just ask God to “do it for me”.

He worked WITH God and FOR God to bring His Kingdom to earth.

He used it as fuel to empower Him to move in power.

If the church could use their revelation of the Father’s love to fuel them into movement, we would see revival like never before.

And that is my prayer.

Father God, the church needs a revelation of who you are. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear. Help us know and discern the heart of the Father. Father, you are righteous, pure, lovely and full of justice. Remove pride and selfish ambition from the church. I pray we wouldn’t just know you, but I pray you would know us—like you knew Ezekiel. Release a radical revelation of the Father over your church. There is such a rise of perversion in the world. I’m asking you to stop the infiltration of it into the eyes and ears of your beloved. Increase discernment. Give us all the spirit of wisdom, revelation, discernment, understanding, and the gift of knowledge. Restore the fear of God, and the awe, wonder and reverence of the Father. Restore us to the Father through Jesus. Restore our fathers in the church to be a reflection of our Heavenly Father here on earth. Help us know you, search us, know us. Give the church a new revelation of the Father that brings revival. Amen.

This is what makes it “supernatural”.

You cannot see the Holy Spirit,

but He supernaturally lives inside of you.

Things unseen are still a reality.

You can’t see the wind, but you can feel the wind.

You can’t see intuition, but you can feel it in your gut.

I was listening to a podcast recently and they began to speak about idols.

And the speaker said something that changed me.

Paraphrase: “Your intuition will seek to protect your idols.”

This one statement alone gave me a lot to reflect on.

The idols in the Old Testament don’t always look like idols in modern day,

but they carry the same effect.

You cannot always see your idols,

and you cannot see your intuition.

Unseen, but real.

And most of the time, deep down in your gut, you already know what your intuition and discernment are telling you.

But here’s the wild part—something I believe the modern Church gets wrong:

Your intuition is not the same as accurate discernment.

Your intuition is not the same as the Holy Spirit.

Our spirit man (which is sealed with Holy Spirit) is going to be in battle with our flesh.

Ephesians 1:13

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit…

Galatians 5:17

For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.

This is why it’s so important to GUARD YOUR HEART and protect your time with God in prayer, the bible and in worship.

When we invest time in prayer, scripture, and in worship, we are sanctified.

It brings our spirit and flesh into alignment with God.

It sharpens our sensitivity to conviction and tunes our senses to the voice of Holy Spirit.

Don’t follow your gut or your intuition unless it’s being led by Holy Spirit.

So how do you know if you’re being led by Holy Spirit?

Time in His presence.

Time spent practicing hearing His voice.

Time in scripture.

Wise counsel.

Are you calling something “discernment” when it’s actually intuition protecting your idols?

What is an idol?

Anything that exceeds Gods power and authority in your life.
Anything that rules your life over God.
Any image of anything He has forbidden.
Anything you worship.
Anything you put before God.

I love Deut 4:23—it warns us not to make an idol of anything God has forbidden….

But the intuition of our flesh wants to protect our idols.

But Holy Spirit inside of us wants to protect our covenant.

Are you protecting an idol,

or are you protecting your covenant with God?

Your intuition and discernment from Holy Spirit are different than your intuition and discernment from your flesh.

Discern the difference.

How do you recognize an idol in your life?

Spend time in prayer with the Holy Spirit and ask Him to reveal it.

But here are a few things I’ve noticed from scripture to help us recognize an idol:

Idols always distract from the will of God in your life.

They cause you to think they are more powerful than God.

They often imitate peace and safety—but it’s counterfeit.

You think they hear you, but they don’t.

Idols offer counterfeit or temporary relief.

They usually come with a crowd of voices encouraging you toward them.

The joy of idols are temporary.

Idols are counterfeit light.

Being in their presence might feel good for a moment,

but once you step away, you’re left with confusion and the urge to chase the high again.

Idols cause confusion.

They stir chaos.

They are man-made.

They are inspired by demonic spirits.

But your purpose is heaven-inspired.

Are you protecting an idol,

or are you protecting the will of God?

In this season, I’ve been deeply convicted by the idols in my life I was protecting.

Some friendships became idols.

My to-do list became an idol.

Time became an idol.

Social media became an idol.

People pleasing became an idol.

These idols don’t have power over God’s will for my life—

unless I give them power.

Yes, God is sovereign, but we still have the free will to make stupid decisions.

And, God’s will comes with boundaries.

These boundaries in the spirit realm are invisible,

but they are real.

They are shaped by our belief, obedience and surrender.

And your intuition, idols and choices impact your faith, obedience, surrender and relationship with Christ.

It’s marked my heart and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

They were talking about prayer meetings, worship, and ambient settings within the church etc., and the guest (paraphrase) said “God doesn’t need an ambient atmosphere with the perfect synth keyboard pad in order to heal.”

And I loved that.

Because the church tends to put God in a box.

A box called, “The perfect setting for an alter call.”

When in reality we see Jesus doing “alter calls” in the marketplace, on his walks, in his friends’ houses, in fields, at water wells, etc.

It’s an inconvenience and an interruption for us to believe Jesus wants to give us divine appointment conversations in our mundane moments with strangers—to share the love of Jesus with someone we don’t even know—except interruption is often where Jesus dwells.

Jesus lived a constant life of interruption.

Now, on the flip side of this, He will also use the “perfect alter call” to inhabit the atmosphere and move.

And He honors our heart to serve Him, worship Him and create an atmosphere for Holy Spirit to move.

We see many corporate gatherings in scripture.

But here’s where I think the breakdown happens…

Our hearts, our attitudes, our submission, obedience and love of the Holy Spirit.

The breakdown happens with me and you.

Because here’s the thing….

Yes, it’s true—God doesn’t need an ambient atmosphere with a synth pad, an anointed worship leader, and a perfect song about healing in order to heal someone.

But He definitely will use it if the heart and the attitude are submitted to the obedience of the Holy Spirit.

Yes, you can quench the Holy Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

But God is also sovereign and will do what He wants, when He wants, and will leave the 99 in order to chase the 1. (Matthew 18:12)

He doesn’t need the “perfect” setting.

He can move in any setting.

I’ve been reading the Old Testament lately.

I’ve been in the world of King Saul, David, Elijah, Elisha, Jezebel, Ahab, Joash, Jehoshaphat and more.

I’ve learned a lot about how God the Father loves generational impact and repeats history while also simultaneously doing something new in each persons story.

God is so relevant—but so creative.

Let’s talk about Elisha for a second.

Elisha was a legend.

I love this verse.

Elisha is talking here in 2 Kings 3:15: “Now, bing me a musician.” While the musician played, the Lord’s hand came on Elisha.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

This verse quite literally gets me PUMPED.

I mean my jaw still opens when I read it.

The context of this verse was: Elisha was about to prophesy, but before he prophesied, he needed a musician.

Sometimes the atmosphere is very, very, very important.

David was a legend.

1 Samuel 16:23 Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would pick up his lyre and play, and Saul would the be relieved, feel better, and the evil spirit would LEAVE him.

Sometimes the atmosphere is very, very, very important.

Acts 16:25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and SINGING hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the jail were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains came loose.

Sometimes, the atmosphere is very, very, very important.

THIS NEXT ONE IS A FAVORITE.

2 Chronicles 2:21-22: Then he consulted with the people and appointed some to sing for the Lord and some o praise the spender of his holiness. When they went out in front of the armed forces, they kept singing: Give thanks to the Lord, for His faithful love endures forever. The MOMENT they began their shouts and praises, the Lord set an ambush.

Sometimes, the atmosphere is very, very, very important.

I could go on and on and on about references in scripture, both Old and New Testament, and the importance of an atmosphere.

But in reality, Jesus uses His spit and the dirt to heal a blind man (John 9:6-7).

He doesn’t need an atmosphere to deliver.

He doesn’t need an atmosphere to use his prophets.

He doesn’t need an atmosphere for worship.

But you see it in scripture time and time again.

He loves to use His people.

He loves to use an atmosphere.

He loves to use musicians.

He loves to send His Holy Spirit amidst all of this.

Ultimately, Jesus doesn’t need an atmosphere to heal.

He just desires our hearts to listen to Him and to steward His will.

So, the next time Holy Spirit says to you, “Tell the cashier, God gave you a beautiful smile! I hope you have a great day,” Just say it.

The next time Holy Spirit says to you, “Pray for that person to be healed,” just pray for the person to be healed.

The next time Holy Spirit says to you, “Tell this person about me,” just do it.

You don’t need a pastor or an ambient synth pad or anointed worship leader—just do it.

You don’t have to pray for each person you see out loud, (unless God tells you to), but just be listening for Him.

You don’t need a synth pad keyboard perfect atmosphere or a pastor to hear Him.

Because He’s with you in your mundane moments.

The atmosphere of Holy Spirit dwells inside of you.

And when the atmosphere of Holy Spirit dwells inside of you,

He will move in a church building with a perfect alter call, an anointed worship leader and a synth pad, as much as He will move in the marketplace.

He wants to interrupt your mundane with miracles.
