Recently, while listening to Joe Rogan’s latest conversation with Dr. Zach Bush, something came up in the final 20 minutes that stopped me. Bush was talking about how we, as humans, are not simply a species. We are an ecosystem expressing itself through a massive geometric library so vast that the cognitive brain cannot wrap itself around it.

He went on to describe the extraordinary amount of genetic information contained within our DNA, enough, as he put it, to hold a record of all of life. His point was that the genome is not simply a warehouse belonging to the human species. It is part of something much larger.

I had to sit with that for a minute. One, because I thought, is the Akashic Records really being indirectly discussed on a mainstream podcast? And two, because I thought, of course this is how DNA would operate.

If you’ve read my previous Substack based on Veda Austin’s work, where I explore water as consciousness, you already have half of the puzzle. If we consider water not simply as a substance but as something capable of carrying and communicating information, and we consider the water-rich environment in which DNA operates, an interesting possibility opens up. What if DNA isn’t simply storing information? What if it’s receiving it?

This is where I see a fascinating parallel with the Akasha. Our DNA becomes the microcosm, while the Earth’s water, its oceans, rain, rivers and tributaries, becomes the macrocosm. Information moving through information. Life communicating with life. The way I understand it, our antenna is either available to receive that information, or it isn’t.

We tend to think of our DNA as a filing cabinet, everything about us tucked inside, waiting to be read. But what Bush was describing, and what immediately connected for me with how I understand the Akashic Records, suggests something different. The body isn’t just the archive. It’s also the receiver.

This isn’t new. It’s surfacing again.

What struck me wasn’t just the idea itself. It was where it showed up. This wasn’t a spiritual podcast or a metaphysics circle. This was one of the biggest shows in the world, with a physician talking to millions of people about something that sounds remarkably similar to what we’ve been exploring for the last decade inside Akashic Record sessions, trainings and alumni offerings.

That’s not a coincidence to me. It feels like a glimpse of where we’re heading, already surfacing in the present. The framework is old. What’s new is how many places it’s starting to appear.

Why this matters for how I read

When I do an Akashic Records reading, I’m not pulling information out of someone’s body like a file. I’m tuning into something. The body isn’t simply the archive. It’s the receiver.

That reframe also gives language to something I’ve tried to articulate for years: why the felt sense in a reading can be so unarguable. In Part Two of my book, releasing later this fall, I write about clairsentience and the many ways we receive information beyond the thinking mind. If we entertain the possibility of DNA functioning as an antenna, then perhaps that feeling isn’t something to dismiss as imagination. Perhaps it’s reception. Perhaps the sensation in your body is part of the signal arriving, rather than simply a story you’re telling yourself about it.

That’s the part I most want people to understand. What you feel is real. You are built to feel it. I love when spirituality and science are willing to sit at the same table. Not because I need science to prove spirituality, but because it allows us to bring all the parts of ourselves into the conversation, including the skeptic.

Why this matters right now

We’re heading into a period that’s going to ask more of us, not less. The pull toward distraction is only going to increase. Our nervous systems are being asked to process an extraordinary amount of noise and information coming at us from every direction, every hour of the day.

In a time like this, the capacity to pull back into the midline and know what is true for you without constantly needing someone else to confirm it stops being simply a spiritual practice. It becomes a way of navigating life.

And this is where the antenna comes back in. If we are receiving information in ways we’re only beginning to understand, then there is a channel available to you that doesn’t run through anyone else’s voice. You don’t have to keep listening outward, to opinions, noise, algorithms and everyone else’s version of what’s true, in order to find your way. You can learn to listen to your own reception instead.

The world we’re moving into may be less predictable, less structured and far more demanding of our own discernment. Knowing yourself accurately isn’t a spiritual nicety anymore. It’s how you navigate.

So where does that leave us?

I didn’t start SOAR (School Of Akashic Records) to teach people a technique. I started it because I kept meeting people who already had the antenna on and had no idea what to do with the signal.

For some, that signal shows up as feeling, a knowing in the body, a room, a conversation. For others, it shows up as seeing, hearing or simply knowing something without being able to explain how they know it. And for others still, there’s no clear signal yet at all, just a persistent pull, a yearning to be more intuitive, to trust something they can’t quite name. That pull is the antenna too.

Learning to read the Records isn’t separate from any of this. It’s the practice of learning to recognize what you’re already receiving, in whatever form it comes, and trusting it enough to actually use it.

If this article is resonating, perhaps that’s your antenna doing exactly what we’ve been talking about. Maybe it shows up as a feeling, a knowing, or simply the wanting itself. Whichever way it arrives, perhaps the invitation is the same: stop treating your own sensitivity, or your yearning for it, as something you need to explain away. Start listening to the signal.

What does it actually mean to be fully alive?

My father passed away July 14th, 2026 and while I watch as the grief ebbs and flows I am consumed not just with his death but also the way he lived while he was dying.

For years, Dad prepared himself for death through contemplation and meditation. When he received his diagnosis, he had two prayers: that he would accept the process of dying, and that he would not be in pain. Watching those prayers unfold was one of the greatest privileges of my life.

As I wrote his eulogy, one sentence found its way onto the page that has continued to echo in my own heart.

He didn’t spend his final year fighting death. He spent it absorbing life.

My father showed me what that really means.

We live in a world that is constantly competing for our attention, pulling us away from ourselves. Our attention is drawn to tomorrow’s worries, yesterday’s regrets, endless notifications, breaking news, social media feeds, and problems we have no power to solve. We consume more information than any generation before us, yet many of us feel increasingly disconnected from our own lives.

We become informed about everything and present for almost nothing.

Perhaps that is why so many people tell me they feel exhausted. It isn’t simply that life is busy. It’s that our attention is scattered in a hundred different directions. We know what is happening everywhere else, but we’ve lost touch with what is happening within us.

Watching my father over his final year offered me a different way of being.

As his world became smaller, his presence became larger.

He wasn’t chasing the next thing. He wasn’t bargaining for more time or wishing he could return to who he had been before. Instead, he seemed to settle more deeply into ordinary life. A conversation with family. Time in his garden. Savouring a meal. The beauty of a single flower. His acceptance of death didn’t pull him away from life. It drew him more deeply into it.

I've often said that the Akashic Records aren't meant to pull us away from our human experience, but to help us live it more fully. This past year, my father became a living example of that truth.

Many people imagine the Records as somewhere we go to receive answers about the future. They hope for certainty, reassurance, or a glimpse of what comes next.

Over the years, the Records have quietly shown me something more.

The Records don’t take us away from life.

They return us to it.

They bring us back into the present moment. Back into our bodies. Back into the quiet wisdom that exists beneath the noise. Back into the relationships, conversations, and choices directly in front of us.

Perhaps that is the true purpose of any spiritual practice.

Not to rise above our humanity.

Not to escape uncertainty.

Not to transcend the ordinary.

But to become so present that we begin to absorb the life we are already living.

I think that’s what my father discovered.

And I think it’s what the Akashic Records have been inviting us toward all along.

I have a feeling this meditation is exactly what my own heart needs right now, and perhaps yours as well.

Facts don't care about feelings, and the heart and the mind don't always agree. That's not a flaw to fix. My current belief system doesn't align with the cliché "everything happens for a reason." I feel things simply happen, energy in motion with no opinion, and the meaning we attach to them is something we built, usually from our past.

But there’s a moment, if we slow down enough to find it, where we get to ask better questions than “why is this happening?” That question keeps us in first gear. What we want are second, third, fourth gear questions, like: Is there something here for me? Have I felt this before? Does this actually belong to me, or did I just pick it up somewhere along the way?

Faith works the same way. Real faith isn’t the absence of doubt. It’s built through honest experience, gathered evidence, and inner inquiry. It allows you to question, even argue, even deny, and still keep walking toward something true.

Hope can quietly become a way of avoiding the present. It looks forward so it doesn’t have to feel what’s here. Presence asks for the opposite, and it radically goes against the human constructs of the nervous system, which is wired for one job: preserving the body, keeping us safe. Presence doesn’t live there. It lives in the divine body, the body of the unknown. In presence, we find no guarantees, no control, nothing we can hold onto in advance.

No wonder the head and the heart don’t naturally move together. They were built differently, for different jobs. But different doesn’t mean opposite. They’re complementary, and when they work together, they build something new that neither could create alone.

In my upcoming book, Akasha and the Akashic Records, I write about presence as the doorway into this complementary relationship, the place where head and heart finally stop competing and start co-creating.

If you were raised inside rigid rules, repetition, scripture, you were instructed to believe it. We are sponges to our environment, absorbing what we’re told before we ever have the chance to question it. But eventually, for most of us, a moment arrives where we start asking: is that actually my belief, or was it just handed to me?

That’s exactly the kind of question that disrupts the mind, and the mind is a brilliant organ. It needs real evidence, not just a feeling, before it will let go of something it’s been holding onto for years.

Some of what we hold onto, we hold onto for protection. Scar tissue we built so something couldn’t touch us again. We attach to people we think we need, certain that if we show them who we really are, they’ll leave. We stay believers in that story until, somewhere along the way, we become truth-tellers instead.

Even the body holds onto experience this way. But how the body experiences something is not the same as what we believe that experience means. The meaning is something we add afterward. Ask, right now: is this still true?

Life is simply a string of moments, held together by a thread of belief. Those beliefs become identity. Identity becomes the structure our life keeps moving through, again and again, until we question it. Question the belief, and the structure can finally change.

So much of our suffering comes from managing things that were never ours to manage. Ask yourself: where is my energy actually going? What am I trying to control that isn’t mine to hold?

There are three practices that quiet this down.

1. Know your truth. Your honest and authentic Self.

2. Trust the process. The process of building faith and trust in Self, Other, and Source.

3. Release the results. You put in the order form, and the Akasha serves it back. A great question to ask is: whose business am I in? Is this God’s business or mine?

When you’re stuck, grieve more. Build faith in a process, not a perspective.

Rumi wrote, “Find a faith so strong it can hold your doubt. Silence is the language of God. All else is a poor translation.”

This is the work I teach inside the Akashic Records. Not to escape these questions, but to ask them from a clearer place, one connected to something larger than the pain that built the question in the first place.

What happens in a room when people arrive with real intention?

Not polite intention. Not the kind you bring to a networking event or a workshop where everyone is quietly performing their best version of engaged. I mean the kind of intention that arrives when someone has made a genuine choice to show up for themselves. When they have done the thing that is often hardest, which is saying yes to something before they fully understand why.

The Akasha recognizes this.

The field is not separate from the people in it. This is something that becomes unmistakable when you work in the Records. Every person carries their own akashic signature, their own soul’s frequency, the specific quality of their presence in the field. And when people who have said yes to the same quality of listening gather in one physical space, something happens that cannot be manufactured or engineered.

The field amplifies.

Not metaphorically. Something genuinely shifts in the quality of what becomes accessible when conscious people gather with shared intention in a held container. The Records open more easily. The inner channels become clearer. Things that individual practice has been reaching toward for months can land in an afternoon, not because the retreat is magic, but because the container removes what was obscuring them.

I have watched this happen again and again. Strangers who arrived carrying separate lives, separate worries, separate versions of the question that brought them, find each other within the first day. Not through forced bonding or structured sharing, but through the simple recognition that happens when people who are genuinely paying attention to the same things end up in the same room.

Katherine called it a remembering. A soulful recalibration. A return to living with greater presence and connection to what truly matters. Amy said she went home feeling a deeper sense of connection to self than she had felt in years. What strikes me about both of those descriptions is that neither of them is about what I taught. They are about what became available when they stepped into a different field.

That is the honest truth about what retreat does. I design the container. The land holds it. The Akasha moves through it. And the people in the room do the rest simply by being genuinely present with each other.

What the four days include:

We begin each morning in the mountains near Kootenay National Park, the kind of nature that recalibrates your nervous system simply by being in it. We eat food prepared as nourishment and medicine. We move in yoga that meets every body exactly where it is. We meditate. We open the Akashic Records together. We sit in honest unhurried discourse. There is a sweat lodge ceremony. And there is real free time, not scheduled, not optimized, just space for whatever needs to surface.

There is something I have noticed about people who are deep in spiritual practice.

They are often very good at leaving the body behind.

Not intentionally. Not dramatically. But there is a particular kind of spiritual seeker who has become so practiced at rising above, transcending, going inward and upward, that the body itself gets quietly left out of the conversation. Meals become functional. Sleep becomes a logistics problem. Nature becomes a backdrop rather than a participant.

And then they wonder why the field feels distant.

The Akasha is not separate from your body. This is one of the things the Records have shown me most consistently. The field is not up there somewhere, waiting for you to leave your physical experience behind in order to access it. The Akasha moves through everything. It is woven into the fabric of physical reality as much as it is woven into the subtle realms. Your body, this particular body, is one of the most sophisticated instruments for receiving from the field that exists.

The clairs are not disembodied experiences. Clairsentience is feeling, in the body. Clairvoyance arrives through the nervous system, through the space behind closed eyes. Clairaudience is received through the same apparatus that processes all sound. Even claircognizance, that sudden quiet knowing, lands somewhere. You feel it in the chest, in the gut, in the quality of stillness that descends when something is simply true.

The body is how the Akasha finds you.

Which means that how you treat the body is not separate from your spiritual practice. It is your spiritual practice.

When I design a retreat, this is not an afterthought. The food we eat together is chosen as both nourishment and medicine. Not complicated, not ascetic, not performance. Real food, prepared with care, chosen for how it supports the nervous system that the field needs in order to speak clearly through you. A body that is fed well is a body that can be still. A body that can be still is a body that can receive.

And then there is nature.

The Kootenay mountains of British Columbia are extraordinary in a way that I find difficult to describe without sounding like I am selling something. So I will just tell you what I have watched happen to people when they arrive there.

They slow down within hours. Not because I ask them to. Because the mountains do not operate on the same timeline as the rest of their life, and the body recognizes this immediately and begins to calibrate. The air is different. The scale of things is different. Standing at the edge of a lake that has been there for ten thousand years does something to your sense of urgency that no meditation app has ever replicated.

The Akashic field responds to this. When the body is in genuine nature, something opens. The noise that ordinarily requires so much effort to quiet simply... quiets. Not because you did something. Because the environment did it for you.

This is why I do not hold retreats in hotel conference rooms. The container matters. The land is part of the teaching.

The body is not an obstacle to spiritual experience. It is the instrument through which spiritual experience becomes real.

If you have been working hard at your practice and something still feels just out of reach, it might be worth asking a different question. Not how do I go deeper, but how am I feeding the instrument that is meant to take me there?

Some conversations surprise you. You sit down expecting to share your story, and somewhere in the middle of it something opens up that neither of you planned for. That is what happened with Julie Cluff.

Julie hosts the Light the Day podcast, and she brings a quality of presence to her interviews that makes it easy to go deep. We started with my background, which is not the typical path into this work. I grew up Catholic, spent years as a firefighter, and came to yoga and eventually the Akashic Records through a series of experiences that, at the time, did not feel like a straight line. I even taught yoga to my fellow forest fire fighters, which was its own kind of initiation.

The Akashic Records found me properly during the pandemic. When everything stopped and I had space, a name kept coming up in meditation. Three nights in a row. I followed that thread and it led me directly into this work. That is how it tends to go. The Records do not wait for you to feel ready.

We spent time in the conversation exploring what the Records actually are, how to open and close them, how the clair senses and mantras and energetic connection work together in a reading, and who the guides and teachers of the Records are. We also talked about the historical and future dimensions of what is available, which is a question I love because it gets at something essential: the Records are not about predicting your future. They are about understanding the patterns you are moving through right now, and what your soul is genuinely here to do.

Then we did something I always love to offer in these conversations. We opened the Records live and this interview we went into the Records for the collective of humanity.

What came through was both clear and tender. There is a spiritual awakening underway that is real and gathering momentum. The consciousness of the planet is shifting. What many are calling the New Earth is not a distant possibility, it is something being actively built through the choices people are making right now to wake up, to choose kindness, to come back to themselves. The Records hold enormous hope for where we are headed, even as the old structures continue to crumble around us.

If you are in a season of asking bigger questions, feeling the pull of something beyond the ordinary, or simply looking for a conversation that meets you at the level of your soul, I think this episode will land for you.

There is a paradox at the heart of most spiritual practice.

We spend years learning to be present. To arrive fully in the moment we are in. To stop running from one thing toward another and simply be here, with what is, as it is. And yet every wisdom tradition in human history has also understood something that sits right alongside that teaching: sometimes you have to physically leave your ordinary life in order to find your way back to yourself.

This is not a contradiction. It is a map.

The Akashic field holds the complete record of everything. Every soul, every experience, every pattern, every possibility. It is not somewhere else. It is not outside of you. It is the very substance you are made of, the ocean you have always been swimming in, the intelligence that runs beneath every moment of your life whether you are paying attention to it or not.

And yet most of us, most of the time, cannot hear it.

Not because it has gone quiet. Because we have not.

The ordinary environment is extraordinarily loud. Not always in the obvious way of noise and distraction, though that too. More fundamentally in the way it holds your identity in place. Your home knows who you are. Your routine knows who you are. The people in your life know who you are. And that knowing, however loving, however well-intentioned, creates a kind of gravitational field that keeps you orbiting the same version of yourself day after day.

The Akasha sees a larger version of you. It always has. It holds the full record of your soul, not just the chapter you are currently living. And when you step outside the ordinary gravitational field of your life, even briefly, something becomes possible that was not possible before. The field can reach you in a different way. You become available to a version of yourself that the routine has been quietly covering over.

This is what every pilgrim has known. Every monk who retreated to a cave, every mystic who walked into the desert, every person who has ever felt the unmistakable sense that something essential came back online when they got away. They were not escaping their life. They were creating the conditions for the Akasha to speak at a volume they could finally hear.

I have seen this again and again in the work I do. People arrive at a reading or a training or a retreat carrying the full weight of who they have been required to be. And then something in them relaxes. Not because the weight was taken from them, but because they stepped outside the field that was generating it.

You cannot hear the ocean from inside the wave.

If something in you has been trying to get your attention, something quiet, something patient, something that has been waiting for a moment of stillness to make itself known, I would ask you gently: what conditions have you created for it to be heard?

Removal does not have to be dramatic. It does not require months or a monastery. But it does require intention. A deliberate stepping out of the ordinary field. A choosing of a different kind of time.

There is a yearning that lives inside of us that is longing to express its own wild nature.

Our own personal wildness is how we play with the Akasha. Wildness is the part of you that cannot be confined. It is the aspect of your nature that moves with authenticity, responsiveness, and inner truth. To reconnect with it, we often need to allow ourselves to step outside our usual patterns and give space to the parts of us that thrive in spontaneity and genuine expression.

Your wild self is the part that acts from inner alignment rather than external approval. It follows what feels true, even when the path is not yet clear. It creates, moves, expresses, and chooses without needing justification. Wildness is not disorder or impulsivity. It is the natural intelligence of your inner landscape guiding you toward what brings you alive.

The difference between wild and reckless is intention. Recklessness disregards. Wildness honours. When you are in your wild nature, your actions arise from inner clarity, connection, and respect. This is why wildness strengthens self-trust.

Nature is one of the best teachers of this. The ocean moves with force and churns as she goes, forests grow in unplanned patterns, animals embody instinctive intelligence without hesitation. Wildness is not something to tame. It is something to channel with awareness.

Your wild self is also relational. Just as wolves move in packs and trees grow in interconnected ecosystems, your wild nature thrives when witnessed and supported by others who honour authentic expression. These are the people who celebrate your growth, your creativity, your self-trust. They do not need you to be like them. They want you to be yourself.

Awe is one of the most powerful expressions of wildness. It arises when you are fully present to life, whether through the complexity of your own body, the vastness of the natural world, or moments of deep connection. These experiences are available only in human form, and they remind us why we incarnate: to feel deeply and to participate fully in the miracle of being alive.

Watch for the small ways the part of you that wants to contract tries to take you out of awe. This is where the practice lives: noticing, pausing, and choosing differently. Let the most alive parts of you be the ones that lead.

We long to express our wild nature because it is the doorway to personal freedom. And within that freedom, we rediscover our power, the inner agency that shapes how we relate to the world, our relationships, and our choices. This is also the doorway into the Akashic field. The two are not separate.
