Not because I've heard it countless times, but because I still can't get over what Jesus called Himself - The Living Water.

John 4:10, 13-14 ESV

[10] Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” [13] Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, [14] but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Jesus is called Himself many things in the Bible, but that name Living water, is one I've been meditating on the past few months and each time I think about it, my mind instantly concludes on satisfaction in Christ

The Samaritan woman kept coming back to the well because no matter how much she drew up, it would still finish thereby giving no form of eternal satisfaction. Everyone has a well in their lives. Could be a sin. Could a person. Could even be sleep or social media. Anything we keep turning to other than God. Think about the many times we've run to things or even people hoping they would fill that space in our hearts that only Jesus can, think about the times we've gone back to that same sin over and over again because if sin was fulfilling, we would only do it once but it's not. That's why Jesus offers us Himself. The only one that can fill us in such a way we would never thirst or hunger after other things.

I'm learning to find my satisfaction in Jesus. To not turn to people, seek relationships or build friendships hoping it would fill the space meant for God. I'm leaning to be satisfied with His love for me, I'm learning to be satisfied with just Him and to always drink from Him and not the well that would eventually run dry.

Why does it feel like I'm chasing God more than He's chasing me?

Hey guys, it’s been a while.

Abisolami 💗

Hey guys, it’s been a while.

Lately, I’ve been in a sort of race, It’s not like it’s something I enjoy, but it’s a race I feel like I should be running.

I’ve been chasing God. Yes, I know it sounds stupid because who chases an omnipresent God? But I have. I have been chasing Him because I felt like if I prayed longer, memorized more Scriptures, attended more church programs and did more in general, I wouldn’t feel the way I was feeling.

But as sad as this might sound, my chase changed nothing. Instead, it made me feel like I was chasing a God that wasn’t there.

The dry prayer sessions, unmet expectations, desire to “feel better” that never came, filled me with a doubt of God’s existence instead of an assurance. So I was left with one question:

“Does God even see me?”

Days of feeling like a junk in space, finally led me to my favourite scripture — the parable of The wedding Feast. And through it, I found the answer to my question.

Matthew 22:8-9 NKJV

[8] Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. [9] Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’

Your invitation has been sent. Come to the Master.

It’s called the initiator syndrome. Not a chase, but a mentality that makes you think you're the initiator of a relationship with God and not a responder…

It’s a syndrome that occurs when you do things with no result of true intimacy. It comes from the spirit of religion that throws you into a cycle of works, more and more works that causes you to lose a sense of the God that called you.

I realized that I had lost a sense of the depth, height and width of God’s love and felt like I had to do more to apparently “earn” it. That’s a big fat lie. I had to be reminded of the fact that I love because He first loved (1 John 4:19) and not the other way round.

So instead of feeling like I had to do more, I started coming to terms with the truth that Jesus has done it all. It simply made me approach God with the knowledge that He approached me first and I'm only standing before Him because of His mercy.

Maybe you’ve been feeling the way I was. one is unlocked and wide open. The way out is right there but the person in it, never steps out. The person remains in that cage knowing fully well the door out is right ahead, open and unguarded. I'm this person.

Every man has a companion, could be your partner, your friend, your parent, anyone you stay with most times. My companion is Fear or at least it used to be. From a very young age, I've been fearful. I don't know if it was caused by childhood trauma or a part of growing up with strict parents but I know fear was something I grew up with. So it no longer became a foreigner in my life, it was deeply rooted in me and now that I'm stepping into adulthood, God has been calling me to come out of my cage.

I'm yet to come out…

Let's just say I'm half way through the door, one leg in, the other out, which is why I don't feel the most qualified to write this article because why am I telling people to come out of a cage I haven't stepped out of yet? But I'm still going to write anyways 🙂

So I was talking about fear - a prisoner of many and crippler of dreams. It's something the Holy Spirit has been teaching me to come out of lately and I would love to share what I've learnt on this journey with everyone because I believe a lot of us must have experienced fear at some point in time. It could be Fear of failure, Fear of rejection or maybe the Fear of imperfection. So great is this concept of fear that there's a phobic word for almost everything now.

But I can't talk about every single fear in one article, so I'll be focusing on just one.

The Fear of what will people say

A major source of our fear is "what will people think or say?"

It's a fear many have lived in without even realizing. We stop ourselves from doing certain things that mean a lot to us simply because we are concerned about what people have to say. So we know what to do, we have the strategy, we have the goal but we don't take any action because the first thing that comes to our mind is the judgement we will face from others.

This is why I call fear a crippler. It's beyond an emotion. If it can be named a crippler, destroyer, prisoner, then it's personified. It's a spirit.

We then shrink ourselves. We stop ourselves from standing out. We don't want to do "too much" and we don't want to be "too extraordinary or different". So we blend in and remain small.

But that's not what God called us to be. God didn't send His Son to die for us just so we can remain small. We are called to be lights, a city set on a hill that CANNOT be hidden - Matthew 5:14-16.

I'll be using John the Baptist as an example. I've read Matthew 3 countless times but while I was reading it 2 days ago, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to something about John. In John 3: 1-3, we see John preaching in the wilderness. In case you don't know what a wilderness is, it's a place inhabited by wild animals and wild plants meaning nobody was living where John was preaching. Now, picture this, you walk into the wilderness to pick some plants, you see a guy with a funny outfit, preaching and shouting on top of his voice, what would you think? That he's a psycho, isn't he? That's the first thing I asked the Holy Spirit. "Was John a psycho? Did the locust touch his head a lil bit ?" And He replied with something that struck me. He said "John didn't care what people had to say. He doesn't even care about the fact that you're calling him a psycho right now. His business was alignment and most times alignment will make you look crazy to others but blessed in the eyes of God"

You can't be aligned if you're not ready to look foolish in the eyes of the world.

And that's the thing. We refuse alignment because we don't want to look weird. We are afraid of being different. We are afraid to stand out forgetting that we were never called to blend in.

Now, How do you come out of the fear of what will people say?

The answer is simple : Living for God not men. This is something I'm still learning.

When you realize how fickle people's opinions are, you'd never place your life on their words. The same people that were shouting “hosanna to the son of David” were screaming “crucify Him” the following week. That's enough to tell you how double minded humans are. So imagine shrinking yourself because of the opinions of a double minded person. Someone that can say A tomorrow and switch to B in the blink of an eye. You only need One audience, One opinion and that is Jesus' .

Say it with me "only what Jesus has to say matters"

Have you said it? Good

When you stand before God on the last day, you'd give an account for your life on earth and it would sound stupid to say " I didn't do what you asked me to do because I was worried about what people had to say"

So the summary of the matter is, Live for God alone and don't ever try to shrink yourself because of what others have to say. Your identity is in Him not in people. It's high time you walked out of fear. It's not from God ( 2 Timothy 1:7) and it would only feed on the blissful life you have ahead of you.

I saw a tweet recently " What will people say? That's the exact time I woke up this morning. I laid on my bed waiting for the sleep in my eye to leave so I could get up by 5 am and pray, as always.

4:59 am. By this time, I was already lost in a different world. I was caught up with my thoughts, the amount of things I had to do for that day. Assignments yet to be done. Projects yet to be submitted. My mind moved from one place to another which is very typical of a Nigerian university student.

5:30 am. I dozed off. I totally forgot I was supposed to pray. The call of sleep was greater than the desire to pray. So I just slept back.

The conclusion of the story? I ended up NOT praying or saying a single word to God this morning. After waking up, I just got ready for school, did a few tasks and left my house.

But before the end of my day, I realized something - I cannot function without praying to God - and I don't think anyone should.

Prayer used to be optional for me. I could go weeks without praying and still be fine. But as I begun to grow closer in my intimacy with God, prayer became a consistent habit by the help of the Holy Spirit and as of right now, the saxophones get louder the day I don't pray.

You cannot afford to not pray. Whenever I say this, people think I'm being a “religious extremist” but I'm simply saying the truth. Man wasn't created to function outside prayer. A famous analogy I'm so in love with is :

When God wanted to created fish, He spoke to the sea. When God wanted to create trees, He spoke to land. When God wanted to create man, He spoke to Himself

Fishes can't survive outside water, trees are dead without soil and man is empty without God.

The entirety of your life should revolve around God whether you like it or not and it starts with prayer, simply communicating and interacting with God. After all, men ought always to pray and not to faint ( Luke 18:1)

So get back to talking with God. Doing life outside of Him is a dangerous zone to be in. You can start with 5 minutes today and trust the Holy Spirit to help you pray longer.

Prayer isn't an option, it's a necessity to daily survival. It's our DAILY bread. I have tasted life with and without prayer. I wholeheartedly recommended prayer.

Shalom <3.

Dear You, Forgive yourself.

You can forgive others, why can't you do the same for yourself?

Abisolami 💗

The topic of forgiveness talked about in the church hardly covers forgiving oneself. We've been taught to forgive others but find it difficult to forgive ourselves when we do wrong. People barely talk about how hard it is to stop condemning yourself or the weight on the shoulder of the one whose mind still replays countless act done in the past that should have been forgiven.

Take for example someone in a cycle of addiction who falls, rises, falls, rises, on and on again. We tell the person “ask God for forgiveness”, the person does and God forgives him. But this person is also left with one last thing that wasn't addressed, which is forgiving himself as well.

Often times, the guilt we feel isn't because God hasn't forgiven us, it is because we haven't forgiven ourselves and if we don't learn to do that quickly the harder it becomes. If someone like Apostle Paul who used to be a terrorist didn't forgive himself, he wouldn't have become the Paul we know today or If Peter hadn't forgiven himself for denying Jesus, he wouldn't have become the Peter we know today. Judas couldn't forgive himself, I believe we all know how he ended up.

So dear you, look within your heart and forgive yourself of that mistake made whether today, yesterday, a week ago, a month ago or even a year ago and move on . And if you have to forgive yourself a thousand and one times daily, do so because the current you will only become the version God wants when you, like Apostle Paul, forgive yourself, forget the things that are behind and press on towards the goal.

With love,

Abisolami.

From an over-thinker to you

When worrying becomes an idol

Abisolami 💗

One thing I do unconsciously most times is overthinking. Oh my goodness, I dey think pass thinker bell! I never saw a problem with it at first. I believed I was simply being strategic by thinking about the what ifs and what nots of a scenario that has a 0.0001% chance of actually happening in real life. I felt it was okay to spend all night thinking about a matter God has said I should rest about.

After I gave my life to Christ, I realized worrying was practically a sin and it showed our lack of trust and faith in God so I dropped that habit by the help of the Holy Spirit. Till recently, this overthinking crept back in and as always, one won't quickly recognize it initially. I thought I was just stressed or preoccupied till I started spending nights thinking and worrying about my future ( future wey dey God's hands oo), career, recent failures and how I want to make an academic comeback. I just kept panicking and fidgeting over the littlest things that I could have easily prayed about. So all my attention went into overthinking and since what has your attention is what you worship, worrying became my idol.

Matthew 6:27, 34 NLT

[27] Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? [34] “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Every scripture I knew about worrying, flew out the window literally. The only thing on my mind was how to fix this and that and to be honest, worrying was draining the life and joy out of me

I kon dey wonder where depression dey come from.

Long story short, the Holy Spirit clocked me and took me back to His word in Jeremiah 29:11 and when I came to the realization that God will not mismanage my life, I felt so much relief and peace.

“For I know the plans I have for you' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” - Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Nothing beats coming to the full realization that Elohim is in the driver's seat not you.

Na once I comot from driver's seat of my life, go seat down for booth. The Holy Spirit literally said “ Hello, get down!”

So to my fellow over-thinkers, it's not worth it. No go kpai yourself. The time you spend thinking about everything can be spent in prayers instead. Security in Jesus beats worrying so put your faith in Jesus because He won't let you down. immediately that reality hit me. In January, the mantra was audacity, in February it turned to make I just survive, in March it became I'm tired, in April it was why can't I just go to heaven and in May and June it was omo that exam was hard oo. Now it July and I'm looking back, wondering what would have happened if I had decided to be audacious like I said I would. I wonder what life would have looked like if I had stepped out like I planned to. For some of us it's not even about the audacity but the disappointment that met our audacious moments.

So for some days now, I've been grieving the life that I would have been living if the first half of the year didn't show me shege. Been grieving the rooms I could have been speaking in, places I could have been visiting, people I could have met, relationships I could have built, opportunities I could have bagged and even the position I would have been spiritually. And if this sounds like you too, come to the front, let me tell you what my Lover told me…

It's not about the what ifs or what coulds but the what is. Yes the year is half gone and your 2026 planner looks more empty than filled but the what is is that you survived despite everything. Despite the moment life felt overwhelming and you wished you could pause everything but then you couldn't, despite the tears you shed behind the scenes that no one saw, despite the feeling of drowning that seemed to overshadow you…the fact remains that you survived and here you are reading this.

I know what it feels like to walk in unrealities, not knowing where you would be next month but grieving the things that could have is not going to change the present. If anything, it would only make the remaining half more painful for you to walk through. So to that soul that keeps wondering what life would have looked like if they were more “locked in”, permit me to tell you that you did enough and came out stronger than you could have. Also, the year isn't totally gone. If you think the first half of the year could have changed your life that much then the second half can!

To round up, I'll leave you with this saying by my favorite writer:

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead - Philippians 3:13 NIV, Apostle Paul.

Shalom <3.

Work on yourself, no be by up and grateful

I believe we've substituted hard work for prayer.

Abisolami 💗

I believe we've substituted hard work for prayer. Then take the difficult and mind blowing action. Quit the doomscrolling and unnecessary hate on successful people who spent years behind the scenes labouring while you slept. I heard someone say today that difficult things come from difficult things. Your prayers are needed but they aren't the only thing you should be banking on. Put in the effort.

Let me burst your bubble a little bit before I go back to loosing my hair. It takes twice the amount of discipline to maintain success than it takes to acquire it. Even after the success you still have to intensify your discipline. You can see you're still snoozing. Get the skills, apply for the job, set in the structure, apply for that internship. Stop waiting for a miracle.

This article is by no means intended to water down the role of prayer but to remind you that faith without works is futile. Even Abraham had to put in the works, a whole father of many nation oo talk less of you who hasn't left your nation except in your imagination.

<a Her voice note in one sentence: “Uni is hard, Bisola”. I knew it would be hard, after all nothing good comes easy but what I didn't know was that it would be EXTREMELY hard.

So welcome to a VERY vulnerable article where I share my struggles in Uni and how God is slowly changing things on my behalf.

The first struggle I experienced was difficulty in keeping spiritual disciplines. If you're in Uni, I believe you can relate. The level of warfare, Inconsistency and indiscipline that crept into my life totally swept me off my foot. My spiritual life was plummeting because I just couldn't find the time and privacy to spend time with God especially with how assignments and deadlines were floating everywhere. For someone that depends a lot on her spiritual life, most especially prayer, I nearly went crazy. That was 2 months ago. Now, God is reviving me. Not everything is back on track or perfect now but for me to be able to write this, trust when I say God has been faithful and has heard my cries for restoration.

Side note: if you're thinking of visiting or relocating to Northern Nigeria, bring a bottle of anointing oil. You will need it.

Questions challenging my faith was the second struggle I faced. Growing up in a Christian household and setting had sort of conditioned my mind into thinking “everyone would respect my belief”. So I wasn't prepared for the level of hostility I faced here. Everyone had something to say, from acquaintances, to coursemates, to lecturers, to neighbours, to nearly everyone I encountered so far, there was always a question raised to challenge Christianity.

“Were you there when the Bible was written? Why then do you believe in it?… “you evolved, you weren't created by God”… “how can you trust the Bible, it was written by man”… “But you never saw Jesus, why trust in His name?”

If I wrote down all the questions I've been asked, I'm pretty sure it would be an entire book! Till date, I still get asked questions about my beliefs some of which I can answer and some of which I can't. However, God is teaching me to not let these questions throw doubt into my relationship with Him.

This isn't the last challenge I experienced but it's the last I want to share and that is Academic anxiety and pressure. Everyone that went to school must have experienced this at some point in life. Uni is filled with smart people and I'm learning that other people's intelligence doesn't make me less intelligent. I used to be under so much tension and pressure academically due to the need to not disappoint my parents or my future self. So I was practically walking on eggshells, living in the fear of failure and how miserable things would be if I failed school. And that was how I forgot I serve a God of excellence. Thank God I was eventually reminded that I'm in Christ so failure isn't a part of my vocabulary because I answer to excellence.

To be truthful, some days the fear tries to creep back in but I stand firm and unshakable in the truth of God's word.

There are so many things I have battled with, am battling with and will battle with but at least I won't be fighting alone for God is with me.

One advice from me? University is a beautiful place to be, but ensure you stick to God more than ever.

Look, that's the girl that involves Jesus in everything

She's living her best life because she invited Jesus into it!

Abisolami 💗

Our lives have been consciously or unconsciously divided into subgroups — academic life, spiritual life, social life, physical life and so forth. Our academic life involves academic activities solely, spiritual life carries spiritual activities solely and so does the rest. There is no room for an interconnection of the various aspect of our lives, everything's got to be strict business. And maybe that's why we aren't living our lives to the fullest, because we've segmented and caged certain parts of it preventing an interrelationship.

I used to struggle with balance. It just seemed so difficult to balance praying, studying, exercising, socializing and sleeping all at once. It got to a point where I literally felt like 24 hours in a day wasn't enough to do what I had planned to do because there was simply no balance. Not until the Holy Spirit had to bring me to a realization that our lives where never supposed to be separated. God is supposed to be acknowledged in everything ( proverbs 3:6). Our academic or social or mental life was never meant to be shut away from God, we are to involve him in it all because He is interested in it all.

If you think God is only interested in your spiritual growth, then you are absolutely wrong. God wants to see you make progress in every aspect.

So the problem of balancing will no longer be in existence if your life was just one. You won't struggle to handle things differently if they went separated in the first place. Prayer can involved in your academics, reading can be involved in your spiritual journey, sleeping and exercising are profitable since your body is God's temple, your communications can carry Jesus and your fluctuating emotions can be surrendered to the Lord. You don't have to segment God in a corner and do every other thing yourself, you can simply ask Him to be a part of it all and trust me He will.

Prayer: Jesus, forgive me in anyway I had shut you away from other parts of my life. I invite you into every space of my life and I pray that you take control. Amen!

Thanks for reading <3 !

Comfort and conformity

You're not home, at least not yet.

Abisolami 💗

All that is not eternal is eternally useless — C.S Lewis

My devotional this morning talked about living as foreigners here on earth and the more I read and pondered on, the more the Holy Spirit begun to open my eyes to the level of comfort we've adjusted to in this world.

We are called ambassadors for Christ for a reason but somehow we've gotten so comfortable with life here forgetting that it is temporary. The bible likens us to foreigners, sojourners, visitors on and on again to show that we are not supposed to remain here forever. Maybe that's why we can never find complete happiness on earth, because we weren’t made to last here.

When you come to the total realization that eternity lasts longer than your time here on earth, you'll live life in preparation for eternity. However, I'm suddenly reminded of a rhyme I used to sing as a kid…

"we are the leaders of tomorrow...pay our school fees...give us sound education".

I have no idea why that rhyme from old came to mind but this evening, I realized through those lines that the future isn't in the hands of our youths.

Take a look at the youths we have in this country, some are unemployed, a vast majority of the employed ones basically work to survive and not from a place of passion, others are caught in the web of constant entertainment so doom scrolling on social media is their everyday lifestyle. Let's not even talk about the ones who are uneducated, inexperienced, under looked, over looked, misunderstood, financially burdened, stressed, distracted and empty. Everyone thinks the future is in our hands but our hands are too busy chasing other things in the present and for the present.

The truth is, the average Nigerian youth cannot handle the future if it is given to him right now. We lack the resources, the zeal, the support, we lack basically almost every necessary thing needed to shape the future we want. The rhyme mentioned the giving of sound education, allow me to say that a good amount of youths are soundly educated and yet unemployed or underemployed. The leaders of tomorrow are constantly battling with survival for today!

The future isn't what is on the mind of many of us. The fuel price is skyrocketing, food doesn't seem to be getting any cheaper, electricity is never stable, telecommunications are one of the greatest weapons against us with how bad the network is and every time, there's a daily urgent 2k hunt to survive the day.

I can go on and on with this, but the point is, the youth cannot handle the future unless the present is adjusted. Until something or someone changes, until the economy gets better, not perfect but better, until our minds are reawakened and rewired, the future we want will be passed down from generation to generation with no significant change.

It's not enough for the future to be in our hands, it has to be in our heart. That way, it's not just something we can put down and pick up whenever or however we like, it's something we forever carry and long to create.

So, Let the future be in your heart, only then will it have essence to you, to us, to everyone.

So you're Christian Christian?

It's more than a title to us.

Abisolami 💗

So you’re like a Christian Christian?

I was playing music while I was working in the art lab and one of my friends was like “what kind of rap is that” and I was like “oh it’s gospel rap”.

Then he said, “So you’re like Christian Christian” and I was confused and he said “I’m a Christian too but I’m not a Christian Christian, you pick yourself up and go to church on Sunday and get upset when you can’t, you go to your room on time to have your meetings with your church group, you listen to gospel music, you read your Bible. It's the kind no one wants to pretend like they didn't see. What if I told you it was already defining me? That it was already shaping the way I saw myself and sprouting comparison in me? I felt ugly. Yes. Very ugly with that ominous mark on me.

Psalms 139:13-15 NKJV
[13] For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. [14] I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. [15] My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

This verse above was a game changer. God made me and the scar is a part of His fingerprint on me. When I encountered that scripture, life felt less of a burden…I felt meaningful to Him. He sees my scars but doesn't bug me about it like people do.

When I begun to understand God's perfect knowledge of me through that Psalm, I slowly started embracing my scar as a part of me. I stopped trying to cover it and took confidence in the Lord's word.

Para venture you're reading this and you probably have felt low self esteem due to your scar, weight, looks, speech or any part of you, this is your reminder from your sister in Christ that those so called imperfections were fashioned in you by your Lover. Not because He deliberately wanted to make you “ugly” ( like society would say) but because He wanted to show you that irrespective of what ever society criticizes you of, you're still fearfully and wonderfully made and nothing, absolutely no imperfection can stop His love for you.

We are complete because He completes us and that's all that matters.

Trash that public opinion ( here's a waste bin to do so: 🗑️)and embrace God's love for you.

And next time someone points out your scars, tell them, “ from now, let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus” ( Galatians 6:17)

Shalom.

The art of being alone

In a loud society, filled with different kinds of people, I find the people that take time to be alone more unique.

Abisolami 💗

In a loud society, filled with different kinds of people, I find the people that take time to be alone more unique. To some, being alone is boring. To others, being alone equals loneliness. Those two opinions are distorted.

Being alone is not boring nor lonely. Rather it's that stop sign that tells you to hold on and relax when you've been driving past your speed limit. It's part of that little pause in life that draws you to the point of self reflection and analyzation.

People who enjoy staying alone are thinkers, planners, strategizers. Some even write substacks (ahem). And if I dare say, people who stay alone have the tendency to draw nearer to God than others who are up and about everywhere.

“After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper” — 1 kings 19:12

Elijah didn't hear God in the market place or through that reel. He heard God's still small voice on the mountain top when he was ALONE. Moses saw the burning bush when he was ALONE. David killed a bear and a lion in his ALONE time. Even Jesus had time He would withdraw from people and remain ALONE! And you still think being alone is boring?

Being alone opens your eyes to certain aspects of life you won't see in the company of many. Being alone is an opportunity to be you, to be honest with yourself and set things straight. It helps you notice the not so harmful distractions and that's when God's voice is heard.

Being alone isn't the same as being lonely. Let's not confuse those two words. It's God's will for us to socialize but He also reminds us of the need to be still.

“He says ‘ be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” — psalm 46:10

I don't wish loneliness on anyone but I do wish people took more time to think by disassociating themselves often and sitting in silence.

In a world where everyone is running to get to the top for fame, clout or supposed purpose without taking time to stop and rethink, I choose to enjoy alone time once in a while, to look ahead with my inner eyes, to picture my future with God before jumping into it.

I choose to maximize my alone time by being still and knowing God.

Maybe I'm not Christian enough

As a young girl trying to find her path in the Lord, I've repeated that phrase over and over again.

Abisolami 💗

As a young girl trying to find her path in the Lord, I've repeated that phrase over and over again. I sincerely used to feel like I wasn't “Christian enough” or maybe I wasn't praying or doing things the right way. I envied Christians that seemed to have it all together. They could pray, draw out deep revelations from the Bible, fast beyond 12 pm and longer than 3 days, even the fruits of the spirit was evident in their lives. They seemed confident and vibrant. The joy of the Lord was evidently their strength!

And there was little Miss Bisola, who envied other Christians journey knowing fully well her struggle was against herself not even principalities and powers.

So i thought I wasn't Christian enough or maybe God had favorites and I wasn't one of them apparently. That was a silly lie that stunted my spiritual growth.

Maybe you're reading this and also feel like you aren't running this race well, maybe you feel insignificant, unwise and separated from the body of Christ that should be family, maybe you relate to not being Christian enough. Well, take it from someone who's been in your shoes, there's no such thing as “I'm not Christian enough”

Grace! Grace!! Grace!!!

That word makes the phrase “I'm not Christian enough” totally impossible. No one is Christian enough. No one has it all together, not even the Proverbs 31 ladies with matcha Lattes and their pink bibles. Deep down, everyone has gone through or is going through one challenge of the other, big or small. Grace simply carried us. Grace makes us Christians not our works. Grace shapes us. Grace makes us ENOUGH even when we dont feel like it…

So yes, it might feel like you aren't doing enough that's why you don't sound Christian enough but let me remind you of the word called grace and how it's capable of making you.

Don't let the lie of not doing enough stunt your growth, it's about God's grace evident in you and not about your own strength. If you try to run this race in your power then prepare yourself for failure ( trust me I've tried and I've failed countless times). This race isn't for the high and mighty, it's for those who recognizes God's strength made perfect in their weakness and so prioritize growth on the basis of that scripture taking grace as their spear to forge ahead.

Nathaniel felt unseen sitting under that fig tree, but the El-roi saw him. The woman with the issue of blood felt unheard but Jesus heard her. He sees you. He hears you. Breathe in. Breathe out. You're enough! Because God's grace is enough!

Let the redeemed of the Lord dress so!

You choose modesty in a fallen world?

Abisolami 💗

1 Peter 2:9 NIV:But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

The past four days has been the Holy Spirit taking me through the tabernacle instructions God gave Moses in the book of Exodus. I read chapter 28 today and noticed how intentional God was with Aaron and his sons garments. God literally gave detailed and structured instructions as to how the garments should look like. These people were priests and God wanted them to look like what He had called them to be. If God wasn't interested in our outward appearance why would He do this?

We've made the whole concept of God not looking at our outward appearance but the heart ( which is true) a basis to throwing away modesty. In as much as God cares more about the inward transformation than the outer, it's the outer that'll tell you apart because man cannot see the heart. If you dress like a gangster even though you aren't one, people would mistake you for a gangster!. Your dressing matters because it tells you apart. The priestly robe informed the Israelites that Aaron was a priest. Will your dressing tell people you're a Christian?

Modesty is a sacred way of dressing that brings dignity and honor. Let the redeemed of the Lord dress so! Let the royal priesthood look royal!

If this post has blessed you in one way or the other, do well to subscribe for more contents like this. I bought all the materials I'd need and started immediately. At first I kept on making bad slip knots and tangled knots but I didn't let that discourage me. I just kept going till I finally crocheted a scrunchie. It wasn't perfect but it was okay.
