It's the way you look into my eyes like there's a treasure inside that needs your beholding.

It's the way you hold my hands and feel my skin so tenderly. It's the way I feel vibrations of your love seeping through your touch.

It's the way you make me feel so safe and at home.

It's the way you welcome every part of me. The loud, the quiet, the stubborn, the calm, the focused, the confused, the lazy, the diligent, the colourful, the gloomy, the confident, the doubtful, the weird, the crazy parts of me…

It's the way you understand even the depths of my soul.

It's the way you speak my language. A language I never taught you. Maybe our souls were destined to meet.

I love the way you make me feel seen. You already know my favourite drink, the snacks I love, my favourite food, the colours that brighten my day, the music that makes me want to dance.

I love the way you have the codes to my body and how every trace of your hands on my skin is pleasant.

I love how you hug me so tight like you want to soak my presence into your skin and the way you sniff the perfume of my skin like you want to drink it.

I love that you know how much I love to play music and just dance to it and I love how you always dance with me.

I love how my requests to you are never too small or too big to be handled or treated as a priority.

I love how we can sit for hours and have conversations that refresh the mind and heal the soul. Sometimes I walk out of those conversations feeling like someone with an increased IQ 🤭😂

I love how we take long walks together just to soak in nature and charge our brains while you hold my hand so lovingly.

I love how you make me laugh so hard I loose control of my movement and roll on the floor.

I love how you make it obvious I'm your favorite person.

I love how you message my feet after I have a stressful day of work without me asking and Thank God, it's usually on days yours wasn’t stressful.

The other day, I came home and you prepared such a thoughtful suprise for me and your reason was “I'm celebrating the most amazing woman in the world”. I was stunned to see the candles lined up so beautifully with you standing at the other end of it holding a bouquet with my favourite flowers. I could see my name hanging in the air with the shiny gold balloons. I could smell my favorite dishes from the kitchen and I was just lost for words as my eyes teared up. I just wondered to myself “How did he pull this off when he had a busy day today?” The warmth of your hug made me feel so loved and so seen and with that beautiful surprise combined you definitely knew I would cry in your arms so you were ever ready to wipe them and plant a kiss on my forehead.

That day like every other day I spend with you, is etched into my memory. They're so precious I want to frame them.

How could I not love you? How could I not want to wake up with you by my side forever?

When I look at you, I see a blessing. I see that truly God loves me enough to send me a man with a heart this beautiful. Someone who loves me like HE loves me.

I was triggered to pour out my soul on yearning from the perspective of a woman who loves to love and be loved.

I’ve noticed and observed an epidemic of nonchalant men being the order of the day, where the women suddenly stop being the chased and start being the chasers.

Maybe it's because of a general newly developed mindset by men or maybe it's because a lot of ladies are lowering the bar making their access so easy.

Today, I want to address something very important. Courting is normal and very much required.

Courting isn't formality. It is the normal.

A woman is a priced jewel. A treasure to be sought after.

YOU are meant to be chased not to be the chasers.

There are some patterns I've observed from men lately and it's a pattern women need to pay attention to.

1. The guys chase at first then withdraw waiting for you to chase them because they feel you're starved of love and attention and painfully, some ladies fall for that trap.

If a guy is trying to woe you, and suddenly slacks off in communication.. LET HIM BE! Weren't you living and breathing before his confused self came to interrupt your peace? Ladies… no matter what never give your power to anyone. Don't allow a human being to hold the power to your joy or peace. That power must be in your hands.

1. The guys that promise you heaven and earth and tell you how much they love you and you're the most important thing that exists in the universe and then, their actions don't match their words.

This one is just too funny because, words bore me. Why are you making so much noise about how much I mean to you and all the things you would do for me and it's repeatedly not reflecting in your actions?

Dear ladies, please don't ever hold onto promises. HOLD ONTO ACTIONS!!

1. The guys that think going out on dates, getting their ladies flowers and providing for their needs is going above and beyond meanwhile that's the BARE MINIMUM!

Ladies, you deserve a man who genuinely loves you enough to always want to give you flowers, provide for you and bring joy and peace into your life in the best of ways he can.

You deserve a man who is always so excited to see you, excited to hear your voice, excited to spend time with you. A man who prioritises you. A man that values your words and your needs. A man who loves your presence and longs for it. A man that fans the flames of your feminine energy. A man that makes you feel safe and encourages you to be soft. Not just with words, but actions.

A man who genuinely wants to see you win. A man who doesn't feel insecure about how beautiful you are or your success. A man who is so proud to have you by his side. A man who intentionally chooses you daily.

I know that there is a nonchalant men pandemic but the CHALLANT men exist and only when you're clear about not accepting the least, would you then filter out and attract the kind of man you want. But if you keep accepting men that bring the opposite of peace and joy and make you chase them, you won't leave room for what you actually deserve.

I also want you to know that staying single is beautiful. You learn yourself, you evolve, you learn life, you build the life of your dreams, you live with you🫶

Single hood is only for a season. Spend that season being the woman of your dreams. Conquering the world and enjoying the beauties of life, from the littlest things to the biggest.

Dear ladies, most importantly… you need to also make sure you are striving to be the best of yourself. That you are evolving and elevating yourself. Your dream man also has a dream girl😉

I genuinely pray that if anyone reading this is going through a tough relationship or a tough single hood that God will heal you, strengthen you and guide to life a life of true peace and true joy.

It all started in 2023 and 3 years later, here I am still in this relationship with God but messier and weaker but somehow HE yearns for me daily and I can feel it.

Everyday I wake up feeling like Jonah. The only difference between Jonah and I, is that the fish that has swallowed me isn’t a physical fish but never ending restlessness. An irritating loss of peace that keeps reminding me I have the power to make it go away. A depth of emptiness that reminds me I’m not as full of God as I was before.

Let me back track and talk about our love story a little.

It was 2023 in the month of February, I was in one of the darkest seasons of my life. I remember that night so well. If depression could be defined by looking at the heart, it would have been defined by my heart that day. I was in pain, I was in agony. I wanted my life to end and I felt so helpless because I didn’t know how I would end my life.

That night on my bunk bed in school, I cried out to God with everything in me. I asked him so many questions because I didn’t like who I was or the state of my life. A lot of things about my life were strange and I always found myself in situations that made me feel like I was cursed.

So I cried. I begged God with everything in me that if I was going to live, he should give me a life worth living. I begged him to takeaway the pain, the sorrow, the agony. I cried my soul and slept.

The next day, I woke up with a smile and my heart was the lightest it had ever been. My heart was filled with so much joy and I could just feel that I woke up in my answered prayer. That day felt so different from every other day I had lived on earth and I’m not even exaggerating. I was so happy. Greeting everyone with a smile. I also wished they could feel what I was feeling.

I never knew that was going to mark the beginning of the most life changing experience of my life.

Before this, I had done Holy Ghost baptism before I came to school but ever since the day I received it and spoke in tongues, I never spoke in tongues again because I was a lukewarm Christian so I obviously did my foundation class to please my mum so I could have my peace and now that I’m typing, I just realised a part of me yearned for those classes where all we spoke about was Jesus and how to be a holy vessel unto him. Each time I sat in those classes, I never wanted them to end but, when I left the classes, I mostly forgot about what was discussed. In summary (disobedience).

Now back to February 2023. After that experience, the Holy Spirit would wake me up 3;00am everyday and I would pray in the spirit. Which is so surprising and gives evidence that the Holy Spirit was in charge because I’m one of those people who are obsessed with sleep.

I would also read my Bible daily and unfailingly because I was just so in love with the word 🥹. Each page opened something in me. I could feel the word fill me with light. I began to talk about Jesus and post scriptures as I got revelations of them. My For You Page on all my social media pages especially TikTok, started transforming to things that glorified God and any thing that was contrary to that, I moved it out of the way and notified the app it wasn't my type of content.

As days went by, I started disconnecting from people and things that would lead me to sin. I disconnected from a romantic relationship, stopped taking AZ and the rest of them, if you know, you know. Then suddenly, the Holly Spirit started demanding for me to let go of my music. Although , I was so hooked on worship music then, as a talented dancer who loved dancing, it was painful but I obeyed. The beautiful thing about this particular obedience was that, I began to find different genres of songs that glorified God so I could still dance and enjoy myself while glorifying God. Clear definition of “when there's a will, there's a way”

A lot of amazing transformation kept taking place in my life. I was living a life of true joy and peace.

Two notable things I’d like to mention are a new found love for diligence over laziness and freedom from the fear of Architecture that took place.

During that time, one of the things I was struggling so bad with was seeing myself as being capable of succeeding in architecture even as a student. Drawing suddenly terrified me and I had a terrible inferior complex feeling like all my mates were better than me and it was a big mistake for me to choose the course.

But suddenly, I was so confident and I was diligent enough to stay up all night almost everyday and draw and design.

During that time, we were given an individual project to do in interior design which would serve as our test/exam, I don’t quite remember. I did my project according to my concept and I poured my heart into it.

On the D-day, I came into class and I noticed my mates were looking at me funny. I also felt a hostile energy from some of them after I settled with my work. Finally, some of my classmates broke the silence but their questions and statements were strange to me. “Omo Faith you vex ohh” “Faith na your work be this?” “Wow this is so beautiful” “So you did this yourself?”

I couldn’t help but be flattered. I smiled from the depths of my heart because I couldn’t believe my design was admired and appreciate and most importantly, by my same classmates I felt my work was inferior to.

Now not to toot my horn, but when I looked round I could see that my work was among the top 3 or top 5 best but to me, it’ll always be number 1. This is one of the many miracles that took place in my life.

Pain and I were declared enemies sincey birth and I never stopped to declare it because to me, pain was the evil the world had.

I would always say; “I hate pain so much”

“Anything pain, count me out”.

It didn't matter if it was physical or emotional. I just hated pain. The only time, pain and I became friends was when it had to do with my worst enemy “medications that I had to swallow”. In that situation, I would choose an injection if it meant me not having to swallow those smelly bitter medications.

Whever I would hit my knee on the arm of the chair, cut my self with a knife or hit my little toes on the bed post because I was just expertly clumsy, I would remind pain of how much my enmity towards it was.

Now, asides all the annoyances of physical pain, I crossed paths with the worst side of pain many times on my life's journey. “The emotional side of pain”. I wondered each time, “what could be more terrible than the feeling of emotional pain?”

But, in all my years of life, I saw pain as an enemy until now.

Now, I understand:

The pain of grief proves we’re humans. It creates room for love and shows appreciation for presence and memories.

The pain of not having. The pain of not having a certain amount of money you want. The pain of not having the things you need and want. It pushes you to do more so you can have and attract more

The pain of not feeling alone. It reminds me that my people are out there somewhere and we will find ourselves and align with each other at the right time.

Finally, The pain of discipline. It is the true foundation of success. It is the catapult to the best and highest version of YOU.

I know what it's like to experience pain but from today, see pain react to pain differently. Allow yourself feel it. Let it pass through you and see the good in it because when there is pain, there is good at the end of it.

This is not because those men are unskilled. It's because a lot of women are not bold enough to teach their men how to please them.

A man would direct a woman and tell her what he likes. He's bold and honest about it.

But a woman would be shy or feel like she's asking for too much.

Dear married women. Marriage is the only institution in which sex is appreciated, valued and legal by the law of Heaven.

You have no reason to not enjoy sex.

You should sit down with your husband and be very honest with him. Gently tell him what he does that you love and the things that you would love for him to do that would make you tingle. Be honest with him.

Or if it's another thing that is wrong, still tell him. That's the only way you can work up a solution together

When you're in the process of having sex, don't be shy to direct him gracefully. To tell him when to divert or how to divert.

Sex is an important aspect of marriage and the worst thing is a infidelity or a divorce erupting all because of "Lack of Communication". Don't deceive yourself that masturbation would help you. It'll only remind you that your starved and then you'll start looking for other ways to feed that hunger when you have husband that can gladly do it for you.

Teach him the language of your body and watch things change.

One fateful morning, it was inspection on assembly. This was when teachers would inspect the students to make sure their hair was neat, their uniforms were neat and worn properly, their nails were clean and well trimmed and the ladies were wearing the approved type of earrings.

We were standing in line and Mr Odagba was responsible for inspecting my line. When he got to me, he spoke about my hair and left me with a warning to trim my hair before the next day because he had already warned me the previous day.

That day I did everything I could to remind my dad but unfortunately he came home late from work and I couldn't cut my hair as planned.

That was when a crazy idea pooped in my head

"What if I just used that new shaving stick in the room to trim my hair so it's not too bushy?" Oh how foolish Doochiiee was. She never knew what she was getting herself into.

Then I began the process. Sitting in my room, looking into the mirror to be as careful as I could.

Then I decided to cross-check with my family if I did it well. Even tho they were unaware of the shenanigans I was up to in my room.

Immediately I reached the sitting room, the next thing my mum said was "what did you do to your hair?"

Before I could reply, my siblings were giggling and laughing at me.

Looking at them I said innocently “It's not fine?" Then laughter followed.

"Come closer let me see" my mum said.

After inspecting my hair she said “It's not even. It’s looking extremely rough and unkempt. Doochiiee you'll have to scrape everything"

Eiiiiiii!!! What???? Scrape??? My thoughts rampaged.

I was speechless. Who sent me? I kept wondering how I was going to explain going to school with molo the next morning.

Well, I had no choice so I just did it.

When I was done, I came out for family approval and guess what? Bursts of laughter more brutal than the first.

My dad, my mum, my siblings. My mum even had some tears I'm her eyes🤣

Well, I just joined in the laughter because what could I do? Then I reminded my dad it was his fault and I just showered and went to bed scared and terrified of what school would look like the next day.

The next day was sports day. Which meant I couldn't wear a Berêt on my head to at least cover it up.

I begged my parents that I didn't want to go to school but of course, my request was met with a big "N0" and a sprinkle of "are you okay? You don't want to go to school for what reason?" Chai I wanted to cry. I just knew this day would be my walk of shame.

While in the car, I took my handkerchief, placed it on one side of my head and placed my Berêt to cover the other side🤣

Throughout the drive to school, I kept wondering what my explanation would be for this hairstyle. Then I got an💡

I would just tell them it was our last born who used shaving stick in my hair while I was sleeping so I had to shave everything off😅

I finally arrived school and went upstairs to keep my bag. My plan was to hide upstairs and skip assembly so I stayed in my class. By this time, those assigned to sweep their classes in the morning were sweeping and it was some minutes to assembly. I quietly sat on my chair hoping I would magically be invisible but my classmates kept looking at me and then one asked "Faith, why are you covering your head? Today is sports day"

"Nothing" I replied. My heart beating fast. The next thing they were coming closer to open my Berêt. Then I ran into the other classroom which was the classroom of our juniors. They were chasing me around the class and I was trying to run out of the class but I was surrounded 😭😭

Suddenly, the teacher on duty Miss Judith comes in and scolds "what's going on here?!"

Everything stops.

They tell her about my Berêt situation and she's also curious.

"Mbashinya what's the problem? Open your Berêt". Mbashinya is my surname

"Ma please, I can't"

"Don't worry, trust me, you can open it"

After much hesitatation, I finally opened my Berêt.

What followed was "Jesus" "Uwu!" Faces filled with shock and belly laughter 😭 Even Miss Judith couldn't hold in her laughter😭😭

"Mbashinya what happened?" still laughing she asked me. What could I do? I just lied to them. I told her the whole “my sister did it” story.

Then I put the Berêt back on my head and she objected.

She reminded me it wasn't part of the uniform for Wednesday and it was unacceptable for me to wear it. Also, my plan to hide away and escape assembly failed.

She then instructed me to go downstairs for assembly because after all, I wasn't one of those sweeping.

Wearing Shame like Agbada, I went downstairs. With my heart in my mouth, I dragged my feet with my face glued to the ground.

Immediately I reached the assembly ground "Jesus" "Eiiii" "Uwu" "Ahh" "Chineke".

I could feel their eyes following me to my line as their exclamations continued.

I couldn't look my mates in the eyes. I could hear some wicked laughter come from some of them. Especially the ones who liked to bully me with words.

It was time for inspection again and Mr Odagba came to me and with much laughter he said "I know I said you should keep your hair neat but I didn't expect this. You've gone above and beyond kudos!" Still laughing he walked away. I just wanted the ground to open and swallow me because I knew this was just the beginning.😭😭😭

A lot of funny moments occured that day, but if I keep giving you the detailed story, I might not end today. So let me site key moments.

We had a free period that morning which meant enough time for my classmates to interrogate me. Why me? 😭😭😭

They kept asking "What really happened Faith?" "What? Is it that your cute little sister?" "Why did your sister do this to you naww?" I answered questions and got tired 😭😭. Absolute nightmare!!!! Especially because I was lying 😭😭

The laughter and commotion because of my shaved head was so much that we were punished to go downstairs and pick bamboo then guess what? They blamed my head for it😭😭. Like what do you mean? You guys were the ones laughing and causing a nuisance😂😂

😭 My new name was "Mirror mirror on the head".

I kept hearing;

"Mirror, mirror on the head who is the fairest of them all"

“Mirror, mirror on the head who barbed molo today?"

“Faith's head. See what you've caused?? We're serving punishment because of you".

More and more just kept on coming 😭😭😭😭

We later on had our classes after the punishment and teachers also interrogated me and laughed during the lessons by the way🥲

As if that wasn't enough, Mr John Dwem had to play this song "You are my African Queen" during sports time and it was planned by my other mates and my juniors too they were singing along to the song and I couldn't help but laugh😂😂

After school, I finally went home and told my family all about my day and they laughed at me so hard 😅🤣.

That was how I ended up lying against my sister because I felt it'll reduce the shame. Looking back, telling the truth would've done me no harm so it would've been better. If I told them the truth, they would still laugh but it wouldn't change anything about me. In summary, I've repented🤭

I know the life I want vividly and everything I need to get there. I even draft ideas, make a game plan, do as much research as I need to and honestly, if ChatGPT was a person, they'd probably avoid me like someone avoiding human contact in 2019 because of COVID-19. ChatGPT would wonder “which one of her grand ideas has she executed that she wants to bother me to help her strategise on another one?”

But if I'm so brilliant and creative why do I keep gatekeeping myself. Gatekeeping my potentials. Why do I keep denying the world of my genius?

After much self research and evaluation, I came up with a diagnosis. I finally understood why I was my biggest enemy.

Why I was the only thing stopping me from living the life I wanted.

The Diagnosis includes:

1. Fear of being seen. The irony of having global dreams and truly wanting to see them coming alive but still wanting to hide myself. To hide my potential. To hide from the world. To hide from myself. The fear that if I failed, everyone would have to see that. That they'd have an opportunity to judge me. The many silly yet valid thoughts that rampage my mind because of the “fear of being seen”.

2. Chasing the thrill of motivation instead of practicing consistent discipline. For the first 3 days or 1 week after I've made a game plan, I am committed to my goals. Focused on the vision, ready to take on the world. But then, there's pin drop silence. No one's cheering me on and I can no longer hear my voice cheering me on. I'm doing all these difficult things that I decided on my own to do. Will they take me closer to achieving my goals, yes. But then a craving for comfort creeps in. A craving I feel I must satisfy and that's how I go back to square 1.

3. Imposter Syndrome. The idea that my dreams and visions cannot be carried by me because I'm viewing myself according to the stage I'm currently at in life. The idea that I'm not worthy to bring those visions to life and I'm not worthy to enjoy the benefits of my dream life. The idea that I'm trying to be who I'm not and I should stay put and swallow the bitterness of my mediocre life.

This was my diagnosis. I'm not sure what yours looks like but I'm certain there are people who fall in this same category with me so I'll just give you the medications to each diagnosis because I won't just drop the bomb on you and then leave?? I mean, that's barbaric especially when I have the answer.

The Medication:

1. Fear of Being seen Medication: You will have to do a 180° flip. A opposite contrast from what you normally do. I want you to be as dating as possible. Now, normally, you will overthink posting and probably delete it. But what you need to do is remind yourself that it's “YOUR PHONE” & “YOUR PAGE”. Post that unpolished video. Express yourself and your ideas whenever you want to. Remind yourself that failing isn't failing, it's learning how to do things better. Now for the physical; I need you to start by talking to strangers. You don't even have to feel the need to connect with them after or collect their numbers for a start. You can just allow yourself be human. A human getting to know another human and both expressing themselves about things they care about. If you're an introvert, start going out and stop avoiding eye contact. Greet people and Smule or just make eye contact and smile. Sometimes you'll feel cringe or awkward but guess what? You can interprete that feeling as a sign of growth so whenever you have that feeling, it'll remind you you're growing and you're leaving your confort zone. Be authentically yourself and if anyone makes you second guess yourself, that person is the wrong audience. Everyone has their people. Every single person has people that align with their values or goals. The more you leave your confort zone and allow yourself be seen, the more you attract them and the closer you navigate to such crowd.

2. Inconsistency and Indiscipline Medication. You must stop pampering yourself. It's time to set high standards for yourself. To be strict with yourself. The best self love you can give yourself is give yourself the life of your dreams. You can't keep negotiating with comfort and old habits. You must accept the painful truth and choose the pain of discipline because one thing is certain. In life you will have to experience pain for a season. But will you experience the pain of discipline for a season or the pain of regret forever? Let your actions have consequences. Let your life have structure. You & I know you can do it. You've just been delaying. So start afresh today.

3. Imposter Syndrome Medication. You are exactly who you think you are. Proverbs 23:7; “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..” Do you know that the visions and dreams came from within you? The fact that you thought of that idea or have those visions is enough sign that you are capable of bringing them to life and you're the perfect person to do so😉. Stop using other people as a mirror to audit yourself, visions or dreams. You are your mirror and most importantly, God is your mirror 🩵✨
