Hi.

It's been a while, hasn't it?

I wish I had a dramatic story about where I've been. Maybe something about finding myself, or intentionally taking a break from the internet. But honestly? None of that happened.

I was in school.

Well... not just in school.

I think I got so wrapped up in lectures, cases , assignments, exams, and everything that comes with trying to survive school that I unconsciously stopped showing up here. Not because I forgot this space existed, and certainly not because I stopped wanting to write.

Life just... happened.

Funny how the things we love sometimes get pushed aside, not out of neglect, but because we're trying so hard to keep everything else together.

Every now and then, I'd remember this little corner of the internet and think, "I should write something." Then another day would pass. Then another week. And somehow, weeks turned into months.

But here I am.

My break has officially started, and somewhere between my last post and this one, I became a penultimate law student.

It's exciting. A little terrifying. Mostly surreal.

A step closer to the Nigerian bar⚖️

The finish line doesn't seem so far away anymore, and I can't help but wonder how time managed to move this quickly.

As for this space...

I won't make any promises about consistency because life has a funny way of humbling us the moment we make them.

But I do hope I stay.

I hope I keep showing up.

I hope I keep writing, even if it's just random thoughts, tiny observations, stories from my day, lessons I'm learning, or the occasional scribbles that somehow makes sense by the end.

I missed being here.

And maybe, just maybe, this is the beginning of finding my rhythm again.

When he is drunk, we shield his face,

Excuse his rage, defend his place.

We shift the blame, defend his name

“He’s had too much,” we softly claim.

And let his violence drift away,

As if the drink made it okay.

We say the bottle stole his mind,

As though that somehow made him kind.

But when she’s drunk, the tone will shift,

Her dignity, no one will lift.

“She asked for it,” they often sneer,

No empathy, no listening ear.

Her pain becomes her cross to bear,

While judgment stalks her everywhere.

Her voice denied, her story dimmed

While he walks free with swollen pride.

He stumbles home his sins erased,

She's marked for life, disgraced and displaced.

Two tales, one drink, yet worlds apart:

One keeps his name, the other scars.

Same drink but never treated the same,

He’s excused; she bears the shame.

He's forgiven, she’s condemned,

This is how bias gets penned.

One drinks and harms, then walks away,

The other drinks, gets harmed and must pay.

He's excused,

She's accused.

A culture deaf to justice’s cry,

That lets the guilty justify,

While victims hang their head in blame,

Dodge the weight of their shame

A broken rule, a rigged-up game.

So question every line we draw,

Hold both sides firm before the law.

Raise your glass, not just to drink,

But to the truths we’re forced to think.

For drunk or not, the truth remains:

No act of harm escapes its chains.

Let justice serve with equal care,

Where dignity is always fair.

I’ve been quiet on here for a while, but today felt like the perfect moment to return with something close to my heart.

Across the world, the girl child is still navigating silence, expectations, and limitations.

But today we pause to amplify HER voice.

HER reality. HER pain. HER strength. HER transformation.

Because SHE is not just a GIRL. SHE is becoming a force.

And the world must learn to listen.

Becoming HER; A Tale of TRANSFORMATION.

SHE wakes up before dawn, no invitation

Off for water collection,

HER daily obligation,

The sun is HER clock, time's only indication,

Barefoot on earth, no room for hesitation,

SHE learns early the art of supplication.

Childhood exchanged for endless expectation.

SHE'S told to "be quiet" with no explanation,

Told to sit still, behave with moderation.

"Good GIRLS wait" is the age-old narration

To shrink HERSELF beneath every expectation,

While boys chase dreams with loud celebration.

SHE'S wrapped in silence; self preservation.

HER voice drown in quiet toleration.

Then comes the aches, HER body's evolution,

HER body speaks with no translation.

Aching breast brings silent agitation;

HER breast blooms in silent discomfortation.

SHE walks through cramps without validation.

Bearing pain wrapped; quiet toleration.

Each month a lesson in quiet fortification.

Ovulation knocks without invitation.

Followed by red tides of menstruation.

SHE folds into pain without lamentation.

Still, SHE smiles through every situation.

HER strength disguised as soft adaptation.

Yet within HER grows a determination.

To rise above every imposed limitation.

SHE rises to a blooming foundation.

Moulded in fire, refined by frustration.

SHE dreams, SHE fights with fierce motivation.

HER every step rewrite tradition.

SHE carries generation;

In HER evolution.

SHE'S the storm, the change, the solution.

Not just a GIRL but a revolution.

A GIRL no more, SHE birth TRANSFORMATION.
