Hello my dear reader!

Anyone else feeling vulnerable with Instagram being down even if temporarily this morning - it’s definitely a key source for ideas, leads, and connecting with people for me.

I’m feeling hindered and realizing how dependent I am on it. I legit don’t have anyone’s numbers and know some people only by their handle name. I’m also realizing that a world before social leaned towards extroverts. The folks willing to go up to a person and talk to them — that’s not me. Shooting your shot is so much easier when you’re sending a message!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on functioning in a world without social.

I really can’t believe it’s June already. I feel like just yesterday I was complaining about the cold and snow and suddenly it’s beach weather.

I am beyond flattered to be a part of the Art of Seeing Panel today in Jersey City- part of JC Fridays - This is a longer series of events that will repeat throughout the year and in fact you can also plan an event. I’m always looking for more JC photo walks!

Hello my dear reader!

I have a confession. I often feel as if I keep doing photography because it’s the artistic outlet I have primed/practiced the most. I have done some dance and mixed media arts, but I for sure don’t feel as capable at conveying what I want in these other forms of expression.

I wonder if any of you feel this way too. If you were to practice a different artistic form, what would it be?

Hello my dear reader!

I finished the 30 day posting challenge! I still feel quite cringe, but exposure therapy has made it a little less intimidating.

Last weekend I experience for the first time ever a very bad studio experience. Basically - Got access code 30 mins after booking started, and still wasn’t able to enter because the key to access the floor was missing - EFF.

Luckily it was with someone I coordinated a collab with, not paid, but even still - very unideal and just not a good look. We ended up using the time to do some admin work, but I was hoping to expand this into something bigger and I don’t think I can do that now.

Could I have checked everything even earlier? Maybe - I did think it was fishy I hadn’t received any codes the day before.

Part of me wonders if that person needs a studio assistant. Another part of me is still mad about it. Also their rate was more expensive on their site than peerspace, which was crazy to me.

Anyway, hope to see some of y’all Saturday?

Hope this finds you well!

I’d like to start sharing some shenanigans and musings I’ve been up to and connect with everyone here a bit more. This month I’ve been trying show up more and be in front of the camera. I feel as a photographer we often hide behind the camera - you’re photos might be great but it’s so fleeting.

I think taking up space, building connection, and just saying hello every once in awhile is important. In this 30 days, I’ve started to run out of old stuff - so I’ve needed to actually create something - and that means being in front of the phone camera.

It’s actually gotten me a little excited to share the process and take people for the journey a bit more. I feel it’s been a missed opportunity in a lot of my past shoots.
