From my perspective, Reddit is one of the most structurally advantaged platforms in consumer internet. The company spent 19 years optimizing for trust and community before it meaningfully focused on revenue. That long, deliberate incubation created something genuinely difficult to replicate: a place where millions of people go every day specifically to make real decisions. Now the business is finally catching up to the product, and the gap between Reddit’s cultural influence and its ad monetization represents one of the clearest asymmetric opportunities in public markets.

Why The Product Is Different

Reddit’s use case does not meaningfully overlap with Instagram, TikTok, or X. People do not open Reddit to be entertained or to follow creators. They open it when they need an answer they can trust, a product review without an affiliate link, a technical fix from someone who actually solved the problem, or unfiltered discussion around a financial or health decision. I have used it for years without fully appreciating how rare and valuable that human connection feels in 2026. Search engines have validated this behavior. Adding reddit to a query has become the default quality filter for millions.

This distinction matters. Entertainment platforms own attention. Reddit owns the moment right before a decision. Advertisers have always paid premiums for users with high purchase intent, and Reddit spent years under delivering on that value. That is changing rapidly.

Management And Ownership: Still Run By The Guy Who Built It

What I like about Reddit is that you’re not betting on a hired gun CEO who showed up post IPO to juice margins for a few years. You’re betting on Steve Huffman. He co-founded the site in his dorm room back in 2005, left for a while, and came back in 2015 when the place was kind of a mess. He’s been running it ever since.

He owns about 2.05% of the company, which doesn’t sound huge until you run the numbers. That’s 3.95 million shares, or roughly 670 million dollars at today’s price. He also controls 4.3 million Class B shares that carry 10 votes each, so his voting power is much higher than his economic stake. Advance Publications is still the biggest shareholder at around 30%, but Huffman drives product and strategy.

Jennifer Wong is the other executive that matters here. She’s COO, came over from Time and Condé Nast, and she’s been the one actually building the ad business without blowing up the community. She owns 1.6 million shares herself. Drew Vollero and Ben Lee, the CFO and CLO, also have real positions, though they do sell on regular 10b5-1 plans like most execs.

The reason I think management is a strength is pretty simple. Huffman has 20 years of context on what makes Reddit work and what kills it. He lived through the API backlash in 2023 and took all the heat for it, but that move is what let Reddit sign the data licensing deals with OpenAI and Google. It was painful short term and the right call long term. You don’t get that kind of decision making from a professional CEO who’s only been here two years.

He’s also actually aligned. Yes, he sells stock. It’s about 18,000 shares a month on a 10b5-1 plan he set up long ago. That’s 0.2% of what he owns. He’s not bailing. He’s still sitting on 670 million dollars of Reddit stock. If the company screws up, he feels it more than anyone.

The culture still feels founder led too. Talk to advertisers who work with both Meta and Reddit. Meta is an efficient machine. Reddit still feels like you’re dealing with people who care if the ads ruin the experience. That tone comes from Huffman, and I think it matters when your whole product is trust.

Now, the setup isn’t perfect. The dual class structure means public shareholders don’t really have a vote. If Huffman makes a bad call, you can’t do much except sell. That’s just the trade you make with founder companies. You either trust the guy or you don’t own it.

There’s also real key person risk. If something happened to Huffman, I’m not sure who takes over. Wong is great at ads and operations, but the product vision and community credibility are all him. There isn’t an obvious number two with that same weight.

And you’ve got big outside holders to be aware of. Advance at 30%, Sam Altman at 8.7%, Tencent at 5%. None of them are activists right now, but Advance could want liquidity at some point, and Altman’s OpenAI relationship is both a huge strategic asset and a potential conflict you have to watch.

My take is that I’d rather back a flawed founder who deeply understands the product than a polished operator who doesn’t. Huffman has already made the hard calls to kill free API access, to moderate more aggressively, and to launch Reddit Answers even though it probably hurts some Google traffic. Each one stung in the short term and set the company up better long term. With 670 million dollars of his own money tied up in the stock, I think he keeps making those kinds of tradeoffs.

So yes, you’re ultimately betting on one person. From what I’ve seen since 2015, he’s the right person for this weird, argumentative, valuable corner of the internet.

The Financial Inflection That Looks Real

The financial profile has shifted faster than most investors anticipated, moving Reddit from a niche forum into one of the most profitable and efficient media and data businesses in public markets.

Revenue has scaled from roughly 229 million in 2020 to approximately 2.47 billion on a trailing twelve month basis. Growth remains robust, with Q1 2026 revenue reaching 663 million, up 69 percent year over year. Advertising, the primary engine, hit 625 million in the quarter, up 74 percent year over year, while high margin data licensing and other revenue added 39 million.

What makes this growth especially durable is the structural efficiency. Users create 100 percent of the content at no direct cost. The company monetizes that engagement with very low incremental variable costs. Q1 capital expenditures were just 1 million. This capital light model allowed Reddit to reach strong profitability and cash generation far faster than peers like Snapchat or Pinterest at similar scale. GAAP gross margins hit 91.5 percent, net margins reached 31 percent, and Adjusted EBITDA margins stood at 40 percent. The gap to legacy social media profitability is closing in real time.

The balance sheet is pristine: 2.77 billion in cash and marketable securities with zero net debt. Free cash flow in Q1 alone was 311 million, a 47 percent free cash flow margin, and stock based compensation continues to decline as a percentage of revenue.

The Monetization Gap That Drives The Thesis

Reddit reported 126.8 million daily active uniques in Q1. The composition is key. Roughly half are logged in. The rest arrive via search and represent the largest under monetized inventory pool in social media. Geographically, the United States accounts for about 40 percent of users but roughly 80 percent of revenue. US ARPU is around 5.40 dollars quarterly, or about 21.60 dollars annualized. International ARPU is in the low single digits annually.

With AI translation improving non English accessibility and local sales teams expanding, international ARPU has a clear runway from current levels toward 15 dollars annually over the next few years. My view is that this is a multi hundred million dollar lift with no additional user growth required. If international DAUq holds at 75 million and ARPU moves from 8 dollars to 15 dollars annually, that implies 525 million in incremental revenue at 90 percent gross margin. That single lever closes a meaningful part of the valuation gap.

Logged out conversion offers another clean lever. Products like Reddit Answers use large language models to surface trusted summaries, improving utility and creating a natural path to account creation. Even modest shifts from logged out to logged in meaningfully improve targeting and monetization. The company does not need to force it. It simply needs to keep shipping product that makes logging in worthwhile. If logged in DAUq moves from 50 million to 70 million and incremental users monetize at half of US ARPU, that is another 200 million plus in revenue potential.

Direct Response Progress That Is Underappreciated

The most important development over the past year has been Reddit’s rapid progress in performance advertising. Historically treated as a brand awareness test budget, Reddit is now winning measurable direct response spend. Reddit Max, pixel and CAPI integrations, and Dynamic Product Ads have delivered real results. Early partners report 17 percent lower cost per acquisition with CAPI enabled.

Reddit’s structural advantage here is under appreciated. Users arrive mid funnel by default. Someone reading a thread comparing credit cards, running shoes, or software tools sits materially closer to purchase than a user scrolling short form video. As attribution improves and self serve tools mature for small and mid sized businesses, advertiser density should increase, thickening the auction and lifting prices across the board. Meta proved this flywheel at scale. Reddit is still early on the same curve.

For context on pricing, Meta trades at roughly 9 times next twelve months sales with 20 percent growth and 40 percent operating margins. Reddit trades at about 8.5 times next twelve months sales with 60 percent plus growth and 31 percent net margins. If Reddit sustains growth above 30 percent while expanding margins, the relative multiple looks undemanding. My view is that the market is valuing Reddit like Snap or Pinterest, but the margin structure and data asset are closer to Meta.

Why Reddit Is An Anti Slop Asset

The data licensing business remains significantly under appreciated. As the web floods with AI generated content, authentic, moderated, human first discussion becomes increasingly scarce. Reddit represents one of the largest, best organized corpora of real questions, real answers, and community validated consensus in existence.

Deals with OpenAI, Google, and others already contribute meaningful high margin revenue, with clear upside on renewal and expansion as model builders compete for quality data. Beyond training, I expect growing demand from hedge funds, brands, and research firms seeking unfiltered sentiment signals. These contracts carry 90 percent plus gross margins and act as a strategic floor. In a world of synthetic noise, Reddit’s corpus is an appreciating anti slop asset whose scarcity premium will only grow.

If data licensing reaches 300 million annually at 90 percent gross margin within three years, that is 270 million in gross profit. Apply a 20 times multiple to that stream alone and it supports 5.4 billion in enterprise value, or roughly 20 percent of the current market cap, before assigning any value to the ad business.

Product And Platform Levers That Extend The Runway

Reddit has multiple high return ways to grow inventory and time spent while preserving the user experience. Better search, recommendations, and Reddit Answers increase session depth and create native ad surfaces. New formats in comments and search feel organic to research behavior. SMB onboarding improvements should open the long tail of advertisers, further strengthening the auction.

The company does not need to chase aggressive ad load. It needs to keep raising relevance, context, and measurement. The economics then take care of themselves. With 91.5 percent gross margins, every dollar of incremental ARPU is highly accretive to cash flow.

Structural Advantages That Compound

Three durable advantages stand out. First, anonymity enabled trust produces honesty that real name platforms cannot match. Second, the community model, over 100 thousand volunteer moderated subreddits, creates unmatched depth and intent. Third, the topical, upvote and downvote data structure delivers clean signals for both advertisers and AI systems. None of these are easy to replicate. You cannot buy trust, spin up authentic communities overnight, or retrofit anonymity into a different architecture.

What I Am Watching

To track whether the thesis is working, I am monitoring three metrics every quarter:

1. Logged in DAUq mix. If logged in users move from 50 million toward 70 million, targeting and ARPU should follow. If it stalls, the monetization ceiling is lower.

2. International ARPU. Trailing twelve month international ad revenue per daily user is the key. A move from 8 dollars to 12 dollars annually over the next eight quarters would validate the go to market buildout.

3. Direct response revenue mix. Management does not break this out, but commentary on DR adoption, CAPI penetration, and SMB advertiser count signals whether Reddit is moving from test budgets to core budgets. If DR becomes the majority of ad revenue, pricing power inflects.

Steel Man Bear Case

The strongest pushback I hear is that logged out search traffic is rented from Google. If Google changes ranking or launches its own AI answers that keep users on the search page, Reddit’s top of funnel could be impaired. A 20 percent hit to logged out traffic would cut total DAUq by roughly 10 percent and pressure growth unless logged in adoption accelerates to offset it.

A second risk is CAPI and SMB adoption. Meta’s advantage was making it trivial for any local business to spend 20 dollars per day. If Reddit’s self serve tools remain too complex or if small advertisers do not see fast return on ad spend, advertiser density stays low. Thin auctions mean lower pricing and slower ARPU growth.

Third is data licensing durability. Today OpenAI and Google pay because they need quality data. If synthetic data techniques improve or if regulators limit training on user generated content, renewal pricing could soften. I do not think this breaks the thesis given the size of the ad business, but it would remove a high margin call option.

My view is that Reddit Answers directly addresses the Google risk by creating a first party destination for questions. SMB tooling is improving each quarter, and CAPI is now table stakes for performance buyers. Data licensing has multiple buyers beyond the two largest model providers. So while I take the risks seriously, I think the company has paths to mitigate each one.

Path To A Much Larger Business

The roadmap is straightforward: convert more logged out users, lift international ARPU, scale direct response tooling for SMBs, and expand data licensing. Executed well, these levers support 25 to 35 percent revenue compounding for several years alongside margin expansion toward 35 to 40 percent.

To put numbers on it, start with trailing revenue of 2.47 billion. If international ARPU doubles and logged in DAUq grows 40 percent over three years, advertising alone can reach 5.5 to 6.0 billion. Add 300 to 500 million of data licensing. That is 6.0 to 6.5 billion in total revenue. At 38 percent net margin, net income would be 2.3 to 2.5 billion. Apply a 25 times multiple, which is reasonable for a 25 percent grower with 90 percent gross margins, and you get 57 to 62 billion in equity value. Against a 30-40 billion market cap today, that implies 28 to 32 percent annualized returns before any multiple expansion.

The risks are primarily execution oriented. Maintaining community trust during monetization, balancing logged out reach with logged in depth, and continuing to ship intuitive ad products. But the direction of travel is clear. The product is working. The ad stack is catching up. The data asset is strengthening.

The Bottom Line

Reddit owns the most trusted decision making layer of the internet, a layer that has been structurally under monetized for years and is now being built into a high quality, high margin business. The combination of high intent users, multiple growth levers, expanding margins, and a scarce, appreciating data asset creates a rare setup.

It does not need to become Meta. It only needs to become the best version of Reddit. From what I see, it is firmly on that path, and the market continues to underestimate how valuable that position can become. The stock carries risks like any high growth company, but the setup of intent plus scarcity plus operating leverage is exceptional. I believe it is worth owning.

Precision oncology sits at a remarkable inflection point. In my view, the vision of truly personalized cancer care of matching the right therapy to the right patient at the right time has moved well beyond theory and is now being actively built. Companies that combine genomics, expansive datasets, and artificial intelligence are leading this shift. Among them, Tempus AI stands out to me not merely as another testing company, but as the emerging operating system for the entire field.

In this article, I share my detailed comparison of Tempus against its two most relevant peers: Guardant Health (GH), the liquid biopsy company that many see as the closest pure play competitor in diagnostics and data, and Caris Life Sciences (CAI), a strong specialist in comprehensive molecular profiling. Each brings real strengths, but I believe Tempus possesses the broadest moat, the most scalable business model, and the clearest path to long term leadership.

I will begin with a quote from Eric that explains exactly why Tempus has the edge:

“And it’s the same thing with Tempus. We have a technological advantage over our competitors. It’s not that you can’t get a perfectly good result from somebody else that’s sequencing, you can, you can order a test and if you’re just looking for the top 100 genes that might be mutated you can order a Foundation One test and they’ll deliver you those results. You can order Caris or Guardant and whatever, they’re all 100% perfectly fine.

But we have a lot of technology that is wrapped around our tests. How we’re integrated with electronic healthcare record systems, how we personalise these tests by matching them to clinical data. Other insights that we can derive that other people just can’t because of how much money we’ve invested in all these algorithmic diagnostics that sit on top. Our ability to route patients to the right clinical trial, our ability to close care gaps. There’s a lot of technology.

And so, I think for physicians who choose us over other people, and clearly doctors have chosen Tempus over others over the last… we’ve become the largest sequencer. So we’ve grown much faster than our competition… So more and more physicians have migrated to Tempus because of that technology and that edge.”

Tempus Is not “Just Another Liquid Biopsy Company”

I have tremendous respect for what Guardant Health has accomplished. It pioneered commercial liquid biopsy with Guardant360 CDx, expanded into therapy selection and monitoring, and more recently launched Shield for colorectal cancer screening. The company continues to post impressive test volumes, secure key FDA approvals, and deliver strong revenue growth. In the first quarter of 2026, Guardant reported $301.7 million in revenue, up 48% YoY and raised its full year guidance to between $1.30 and $1.32 billion.

That said, I see Guardant at its core as a highly accomplished diagnostics laboratory. Its economics remain closely tied to test reimbursement and volume growth in a primarily single modality (liquid biopsy) world. While biopharma partnerships and data offerings exist, they have not yet evolved into the high margin, platform style revenue that I consider essential for true operating system status.

By contrast, Tempus was intentionally designed from day one as a data first, AI powered platform. In my opinion, it now stewards what is arguably the world’s largest multimodal oncology dataset that is seamlessly integrating genomics, transcriptomics, imaging, electronic health records, and real world outcomes. This foundation powers a rapidly expanding, high margin second business of data licensing and AI applications sold to pharmaceutical leaders through multi year deals that accelerate drug development and biomarker discovery.

The financial picture reinforces my view. Tempus delivered $348.1 million in Q1 2026 revenue (up 36% YoY) and raised full year guidance to $1.59–1.60 billion while targeting about $65 million in adjusted EBITDA. Guardant, despite solid momentum, continues to report meaningful net losses and cash burn. Tempus is also investing in their platform and burning cash but is making stronger progress when backing out one offs especially for Q1. Although gross margins are comparable today, I am particularly encouraged by how Tempus is steadily shifting its revenue mix toward higher margin data and applications, which have been growing north of 40% in recent quarters.

Even with this more diversified profile and clearer profitability path, Tempus currently trades at roughly half Guardant’s market capitalization on stronger revenue guidance. I suspect many investors still bucket Tempus primarily as a liquid biopsy play rather than recognizing the growing platform economics.

Tempus vs. Caris Life Sciences: Breadth and Integration versus Depth and Focus

I also hold Caris Life Sciences in high regard. The company has built genuine leadership in comprehensive molecular profiling, offering deep per patient insights through whole exome sequencing, whole transcriptome sequencing, and proteomics. Its ACHIEVE-1 data for the Caris Detect multi cancer early detection test delivered promising early stage results, reflecting a smart focus on longitudinal, outcome linked datasets.

Operationally, Caris impresses me with its discipline. It achieved positive free cash flow in Q1 2026 and guides to $1.0–1.02 billion in full year revenue with continued growth. Its emphasis on deeper profiling per sample serves certain advanced disease and research use cases particularly well.

However, from my perspective, Caris functions more as a specialized molecular intelligence provider. Its institutional reach and cumulative multimodal dataset breadth lag behind Tempus, and it does not yet match the same level of real time electronic health record integration and workflow embedding. Tempus benefits from a powerful flywheel that I find hard to replicate elsewhere. The broader testing and deeper integrations generate richer data, which improves AI tools, attracts more pharma partners, and funds further expansion. In short, I see Caris excelling in targeted depth and near term profitability, while Tempus wins on scale, connectivity, and long term ecosystem leverage.

Why Tempus Wins: The Operating System Advantage

The architectural difference is what ultimately convinces me. Guardant has built an excellent diagnostic suite now extending into screening, and Caris has developed deep profiling expertise with promising early detection ambitions. Tempus, however, is assembling the broader platform that can support and enhance both and far more.

Its multimodal dataset is not only large but actively linked across modalities and embedded in daily clinical workflows. This creates compounding network effects that narrower solutions struggle to match. Diagnostics provide the volume and entry point, but I believe the real differentiation comes from the data licensing and AI applications layer, which delivers superior margins and sticky, long term contracts with pharmaceutical companies.

I am also impressed by Tempus’s substantial investments in infrastructure, including significant GPU capacity that allows partners to train and refine custom models directly on its harmonized datasets. This capability, in my opinion, accelerates discovery in ways more constrained databases cannot easily equal. The result is a hybrid model where testing volumes grow steadily while the platform layer compounds even faster.

Even in multi cancer early detection, Tempus holds natural optionality. Its closed loop system and unmatched scale give it flexibility to expand into population level tools when the clinical and regulatory environment matures, all while maintaining strength in the full post diagnosis ecosystem.

Risks Worth Acknowledging

Of course, I recognize the risks. Tempus must execute well on platform scaling amid cash flow dynamics, stock based compensation, and ongoing intellectual property matters with Guardant. Reimbursement shifts, AI regulatory scrutiny, and competition from incumbents or newcomers could create hurdles. Market education on the platform distinction will take time, and volatility remains part of the story unfortunately.

Still, I believe the structural advantages including a massive, growing, real world multimodal dataset with proven monetization paths are becoming increasingly durable. If data integration and artificial intelligence define the next decade of oncology, Tempus sits squarely at the center.

Final Thoughts

Guardant Health has earned its pioneering status in liquid biopsy and clinical leadership. Caris Life Sciences has constructed a profitable, high quality business centered on molecular depth and screening potential. Both are capable competitors in their lanes.

Tempus AI, however, is methodically building something more comprehensive in my view: the connective data operating system that spans diagnostics, accelerates research, improves care delivery, and drives better outcomes at scale. Its current valuation, which appears to undervalue this platform transition relative to peers, strikes me as an attractive opportunity for long term investors who share conviction in multimodal data and AI as the future of precision medicine.

The operational and strategic gap continues to widen in Tempus’s favor. Over time, I expect the market’s perception and valuation to catch up.

In DTC businesses, the objective is to acquire customers whose lifetime value meaningfully exceeds their acquisition cost. A 3:1 ratio is generally considered sustainable and 4:1 is exceptional. Achieving this at scale like $LMND is the goldmine of DTC.

The core issue is that the customers who generate substantial lifetime value do not respond to the same acquisition mechanisms that digital platforms optimize for. Paid channels like Meta and TikTok are engineered to drive immediate, in session conversions. They are effective at identifying impulse buyers, discount driven shoppers, and customers who are already in a purchasing mindset. These cohorts convert efficiently but tend to churn quickly. The customer who remains for several years, increases spend over time, and refers others behaves differently. They evaluate options, delay decisions, and require a higher degree of trust before committing. Paid acquisition penalizes that behavior because algorithms optimize against short attribution windows. The result is a customer mix skewed toward low retention, even when blended CAC appears acceptable. Once segmented by cohort, many brands discover they are spending $400 to acquire $380 of value.

The problem compounds with scale because acquisition costs rise fastest in the categories where high LTV customers exist. These are typically high consideration segments with established incumbents and well funded competitors bidding on the same audiences. You cannot selectively pay for only the ideal customer. You pay the market rate to reach a broad group, with the expectation that a small percentage will become profitable long term. Without sufficient capital to absorb extended payback periods or a system that filters for retention upfront, unit economics deteriorate as spend increases.

There is also a frequent disconnect between product design and channel strategy. Many DTC brands build products that create value over time like subscription routines, durable goods, or offerings that require habit formation, yet they acquire customers with messaging focused on instant results and frictionless buying. The channel conditions the customer to expect immediate gratification while the product delivers compounding value. When the acquisition promise and the product experience are misaligned, churn becomes structural. Strong LTV:CAC ratios only occur when the reason a customer buys is the same reason they stay. Trust is the underlying constraint that rarely appears in performance dashboards. The greater the lifetime value you expect from a customer, the more confidence they need before the first transaction. Tactics like reviews and user generated content can support low consideration purchases. They are insufficient for multi year relationships. Trust must be embedded in the operating model but not added in the ad creative.

For me, lemonade illustrates how structural design can address this. Although it operates in insurance, its acquisition model is direct and digital first, with the same CAC pressure and LTV potential that DTC brands face. The company made several architectural decisions that most consumer brands do not.

First, it introduced self selection into the funnel. The conversational signup, instant quoting, and app based claims process filters for digitally native users who prefer self service and have lower support costs. The company did not simply lower friction. It designed a process that high LTV personas were more likely to complete. Acquisition cost remained high, but the quality of the acquired cohort improved.

Second, it built expansion into the product roadmap. Lemonade begins with renters insurance and expands into pet, auto, and home as the customer’s life stage evolves. The initial acquisition cost is amortized across multiple products and years. Many DTC brands launch new products to acquire new audiences. Lemonade uses new products to monetize existing trust.

Third, it developed a data advantage in underwriting and pricing. By incorporating behavioral signals, the company can identify and price its best customers more accurately and earlier. In DTC terms, that is equivalent to knowing which click will generate six purchases over two years. Better prediction allows for more aggressive bidding while maintaining ratio discipline.

The conclusion is that high LTV:CAC is not primarily a media optimization problem. It is a business model problem. If the reason a customer chooses you is different from the reason they remain, acquisition cost will consistently outpace lifetime value. The most valuable customers are the hardest to acquire because instead of making transactional decisions, they are making relationship decisions. That requires alignment across product, funnel, and expansion strategy. Instead of finding a workaround or bandage if you will, lemonade designed the business for cohort quality from the beginning.

If your current LTV:CAC is not sustainable, the solution is unlikely to be found in ad account adjustments. You have to examine whether your funnel, product experience, and growth roadmap are reinforcing the same customer behavior. If they are not, additional spend will not resolve it. This is why most DTC companies fail and LMND continues to win.

Healthcare has a structural problem with math. The United States spends more than 4.5 trillion dollars annually, yet most clinical decisions are still made with fragmented information. The genomic report is in one system. Imaging is in another. The pathology slide is a PDF. Outcomes data, if it exists, rarely makes it back to the doctor who ordered the test.

Tempus was founded in 2015 to fix that fragmentation. The idea was straightforward: connect clinical, molecular, imaging, and outcomes data at scale so medicine can move from retrospective averages to individualized predictions. In 2026, that idea has become an operating business.

From Narrative to Operating Results
For years, Tempus was labeled a healthcare AI story. The market priced it as a diagnostics company with a data project attached. 2025 was the year the financials began to validate the platform thesis. Revenue inflected. Margins expanded. Tempus is hard to value with the usual shortcuts. At 6-7 times TTM sales (as of 6/11/2026), the market is treating it like a diagnostics lab with a little AI sprinkled on top. That price gives you the genomics business and basically assumes the data platform is worth nothing.

Here’s a base case that I think is pretty conservative.

1. Growth: Start with 25 percent revenue growth off the 2026 guidance of around 1.575 billion dollars. That is already slower than the 36 percent Tempus just posted in Q1 and way below the 80 percent growth we saw in 2025. It assumes diagnostics settles into the mid teens and Data and Insights grows around 30 percent, not the 44 percent we saw last quarter. So we are modeling a slowdown everywhere.

2. Margins: Assume the business eventually gets to 15 percent free cash flow margins. Non GAAP gross margins are already in the high 60s because Data and Insights is high margin and it keeps taking share. That segment was 22 percent of revenue in Q1 and growing fast. If it becomes 35 percent of the mix in a few years, 15 percent free cash flow is not heroic. It actually assumes the lab business stays pretty low margin even with all the automation we are seeing in Chicago, Atlanta, RTP, and the Ambry facility.

3. Discount rate: Use 10 percent. That covers dilution, reimbursement risk, and the fact that Tempus is still pushing into cardiology and radiology. The company refinanced into 750 million dollars of converts due 2030 with a 84.19 dollar strike. If the stock never gets there, dilution is limited. If it does, you are probably happy. Either way, 10 percent feels fair for a business that is not GAAP profitable yet.

Run that math and you get intrinsic value near 95 dollars per share. That is a 10 year DCF with 4 percent terminal growth.

Why I call this conservative:
First, we are going easy on Data and Insights. We modeled 30 percent growth when it just did 44 percent, and we already have three quarters in a row of bookings above 100 million dollars. Total committed contract value from the top 20 pharma partners is over 900 million dollars after the Roche deal. If that segment actually compounds at 35 to 40 percent, the math pushes intrinsic value well above 120 dollars without changing anything in diagnostics.

Second, we give diagnostics no credit for operating leverage. MRD just got broader Medicare coverage. Ambry is integrated. Lab automation is improving. We assume margins stay thin anyway.

Third, we assign zero value to the new stuff. Radiology got FDA cleared in March with Lung nDetect. Cardiology has already run over 1 million ECGs through the platform. International grew 58 percent last quarter. None of that is in the model.

So what are you paying for currently? You are buying a diagnostics business growing mid 20s that should hit a 1 billion dollar run rate by 2028. The data platform comes for free. That includes Ambry’s germline database, 7 million Paige pathology slides, the Roche and AstraZeneca deals, and all the optionality in radiology and international.

If Data and Insights keeps scaling and the market starts valuing it like a healthcare data company instead of a lab, the stock re rates. If it does not, you still own a real diagnostics business at 6-10 times sales with a founder who has been executing for 10 years.

The difference between 50 and 95 is really a bet on whether the flywheel compounds faster than dilution and skepticism. After Q1 2026, that bet feels a lot more reasonable than it did last year.

How to Think About It
Tempus is infrastructure for precision medicine. Infrastructure does not re rate in a straight line. There will be quarters where reimbursement is soft or a pharma contract slips. There will be headlines about competition or regulation. If you need a clean narrative every 90 days, this will be frustrating.

Tempus still generates the majority of its revenue from diagnostic testing, and that reality matters. MRD assays and liquid biopsy are especially sensitive to payor behavior.

If diagnostics growth decelerates materially before the higher margin data business is large enough to offset it, operating leverage could stall and delay the path to GAAP profitability. In that scenario, the market would likely revert to valuing Tempus closer to traditional lab peers, at least temporarily.

The Data & Insights segment is strategically important and economically attractive, but it comes with a different set of risks. Pharma contracts tend to be large, multiyear, and uneven in timing. Even if long term demand remains intact, periods of contract lumpiness could pressure near term revenue growth and shake confidence. This matters because the platform multiple depends on consistent evidence that the data business is scaling predictably and becoming a durable profit engine.

In a bear case, Tempus risks being viewed as an excellent oncology company with limited horizontal expansion, rather than a true healthcare data platform.

Tempus’ moat rests on proprietary multimodal data and deep workflow integration. While this is difficult to replicate, it is not immune to pressure. Large incumbents have capital, distribution, and regulatory expertise, while cloud and EHR vendors control important parts of the healthcare data stack.

Perhaps the most underappreciated risk is dilution. Tempus has done a good job refinancing expensive debt into low cost convertible notes, but leverage remains elevated relative to equity, and the business is not yet consistently cash flow positive.

The reason these risks are tolerable, in my view, is that most are timing and execution risks rather than structural flaws. The data assets are real. The customer relationships are deep. The regulatory progress is tangible. And management has shown increasing financial discipline.

For long term investors like myself, the key is position sizing and expectations. Tempus is unlikely to compound in a straight line. Volatility, drawdowns, and periods of skepticism should be expected. The bet is that over a multi year horizon, the platform converts scale into durable cash flow before dilution meaningfully erodes ownership.

Valuation & Outlook

Valuation is difficult at this stage of the company’s journey. It definitely isn’t cheap but it isn’t expensive if they hit their objectives. It will come down to sustaining a revenue CAGR of 20%+ and gaining operating leverage. I want to touch base on their balance sheet quickly as this could pose a risk in the future if not managed correctly.

Tempus has built a strong foundation, but it’s carrying a fair amount of debt as part of its growth strategy.

Here’s the big picture:

• Huge structural data edge —→ one of the biggest collections of clinical + molecular data out there, plus multimodal real world info and connections to thousands of hospitals and labs.

• Solid regulatory track record — FDA clearances on AI tools (like their ECG-Low EF one), consistent submissions, and proven diagnostic workflows.

• Growing operating leverage — as they scale the high margin data/AI side alongside genomics, we’re seeing adjusted EBITDA improve and a realistic path to GAAP profitability in the next few years.

• Long runway ahead — network effects keep compounding, more biopharma deals, AI expanding into new areas, and a massive market in precision medicine.

Right now (as of early January 2026), the stock’s trading in the high $60s to low $70s—around $67–69 lately. Normally I’d wait for a better entry, but honestly, if you’re thinking years ahead, the difference between buying in the $50–70 zone versus holding out for a bigger dip probably won’t move the needle much on the overall return, assuming the story plays out. That said, you really have to believe in the long term vision and be okay riding the volatility. I’d suggest taking it easy: dollar cost average in gradually instead of going all in at once.

Bearish Perspectives and Customer Feedback Considerations

In summary, its easy to nitpick reviews on DTC companies but in aggregate the Il Makiage brand still retains a high score on trust pilot (4.1 out of 5).

While early results we’ve seen from AI driven ingredient discovery are encouraging, biotechnology inherently carries development, validation, and scalability risks. Not all discovered molecules will translate into commercially successful products, and the return on R&D investment may be uneven over time.

Quantified downside scenario: If revenue growth moderates to approximately 15% annually and sentiment shifts toward a more conservative valuation(i.e., 25x forward earnings) the shares could plausibly trade below $40 (as they are now but I don’t believe this is driven by valuation). This outcome would not require a breakdown in the core business, only a reassessment of growth durability and optionality.

Taken together, these risks underscore the importance of continued execution, disciplined marketing investment, and transparency with consumers. “Does the amazing customer service make up for my hesitant reaction when I first applied the foundation? Well, it kind of does actually.

Because the product is still a good product. It was the influencer videos that over-hype it. Il Makiage just go along for the marketing ride, and who can blame them?

ODDITY is frequently categorized as a digitally native beauty brand, but that characterization understates the nature of the business. At its core, ODDITY is building a data driven platform that applies artificial intelligence and biotechnology to improve outcomes in beauty and wellness—categories historically defined by trial and error purchasing, commoditized ingredients, and inconsistent results.

The company’s advantage lies in its closed loop model. AI driven personalization improves customer outcomes, which increases retention and reduces returns. These outcomes generate high quality first party data that continuously enhances algorithms, informs product development, and feeds proprietary ingredient discovery at ODDITY LABS. Over time, this creates a self reinforcing system that becomes more effective with scale and increasingly difficult to replicate.

Importantly, ODDITY has demonstrated that this model can be executed profitably. Management has deliberately balanced growth with margin expansion and free cash flow generation, resulting in a business that combines mid-20% revenue growth with 70%+ gross margins, strong cash conversion, and a net cash balance sheet. This discipline provides meaningful downside protection while allowing the company to self fund new initiatives such as METHODIQ without dilution.

The risks are clear as I discussed. • Massive TAM: Starting with renters/home/pet, expanding into car and life. IFP reached ~$1.16B by end-Q3 (up 30% YoY, eighth straight quarter of acceleration), with Car IFP growing ~40% YoY. Premium per customer is compounding as they cross sell into auto (>50% of new Car policies from existing customers, driving higher LTV at near zero incremental CAC).

3. UiPath ($PATH) – Leader in Agentic Automation

Every enterprise has repetitive, rule based work eating time and money. UiPath evolved from basic RPA into a full stack AI automation platform (RPA + Agentic Agents + Maestro orchestration).

Key reasons I own it:

- Enterprise “land and expand”: Start with one process, scale across departments → high net retention and sticky revenue.

- Orchestration advantage: Maestro (recognized as one of TIME’s Best Inventions 2025) lets humans, bots, and AI agents work together seamlessly.

- Financial trajectory: First GAAP-profitable quarter in 2025, strong ARR growth, and path to rule of 40.

- Massive addressable market: Automation is becoming more important as companies chase efficiency in a tougher macro.

UiPath helps organizations eliminate repetitive, manual tasks that consume time and resources. These tasks like invoice processing, data entry, compliance checks are common across industries and often create bottlenecks in operations. From my experience within finance, these roles consisted of accounts payable, accounts receivable, claims deductions, ect.

UiPath offers a full stack automation platform, which means it covers the entire lifecycle:

• Discovery: Tools like process mining identify which workflows to automate.

• Automation: Bots execute tasks across applications and systems.

• Orchestration (Maestro): UiPath Orchestrator manages bots at scale, ensuring governance and compliance.

• AI Integration: Features like AI copilots and conversational automation allow natural language interaction and predictive decision-making.

This evolution matters because enterprises no longer want fragmented solutions. They want one platform that integrates automation, AI, and governance and UiPath is positioning itself as that unified solution. It also makes it a extremely sticky business model. This is what separates UI Path from their competitors (Microsoft, IBM, ect). More on that later but lets break down the business a little more.

What it is:

Why it matters:

But why is all of this so important?

Think of all of the companies laying off their workers right now, how do you think they are replacing some of that work? Modern enterprises face pressure to do more with less. UI Path enables:

• Palantir: Focuses on big data integration, analytics, and decision intelligence.
  Its platforms (Gotham for government/defense, Foundry and AIP for commercial) integrate siloed data sources, enable advanced analytics, and support real-time decision-making. In 2025, Palantir’s Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) drives growth by embedding AI into operational workflows for insights and reasoning, particularly in complex environments like defense, healthcare, and manufacturing.

In essence:

• UiPath → Execution-oriented: Automates “how” work gets done (hands-on tasks).

• Palantir → Insight-oriented: Analyzes “why” and “what” decisions should be made (data-driven intelligence).

What about market positioning and customers?

• UiPath targets operational efficiency in back-office functions across industries like finance, healthcare, and manufacturing → It competes with RPA/automation players (e.g., Automation Anywhere, Microsoft Power Automate).

Many sources note that the two could even work together:

I specifically wanted to create a separate section for Maestro as I am seeing a lot of conflicting information. Bulls are saying that it is going to bring the company to 50%+ growth acceleration, while bears say it is nothing more than a vendor pitch. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

What Exactly is Maestro? Maestro is UiPath’s central orchestration platform, basically the piece that ties everything together in their automation ecosystem. It’s designed to manage not just traditional RPA bots, but also the newer agentic AI agents, human workflows, and even integrations with third party tools. In practice, it acts like the conductor of an orchestra: it schedules jobs, monitors what’s happening in real time, allocates resources as needed, enforces security and compliance rules, and gives you full visibility across all your automations—no matter how many thousands are running.

Some of the standout capabilities:

• Coordinating multiple agents so they can hand off tasks or work together seamlessly

• A low-code/no-code interface that lets business users (not just developers) design and manage complex workflows

• Strong governance features—full audit trails, role-based access, and compliance controls that matter a lot in regulated sectors

• True enterprise scale, whether deployed in the cloud or on-premises

We’re moving fast from simple RPA to a world full of autonomous AI agents. Companies are spinning up agents from all sorts of vendors, but without solid orchestration, it quickly turns into a mess: siloed efforts, compliance headaches, and no clear way to measure ROI. Maestro steps in to fix that. It provides a single, enterprise grade control plane for everything. Here’s why I think it’s pivotal:

1. It Solves AI Agent Sprawl
   Most AI pilots stall at scale because there’s no real governance. Maestro gives organizations a safe, unified way to deploy and manage agents in production—especially important in industries like finance, healthcare, and government where explainability and auditability are non-negotiable.

2. It Makes the Platform Much Stickier
   Once Maestro becomes the hub for your automation program, switching away gets extremely painful. UiPath shifts from being “just another RPA tool” to the core system of record for all automation. That’s the kind of positioning that drives higher retention and bigger expansions over time.

   Classic RPA was already a large opportunity, but adding full agentic orchestration opens up a much bigger pie, potentially doubling the TAM when you include AI-driven “data-to-action” workflows. Management has talked about this as a key growth driver starting in calendar 2026–2027.

4. It Sets UiPath Apart from the Competition
   Big tech platforms are strong inside their own ecosystems, but they struggle with universal orchestration across legacy systems. Other pure-play vendors have solid execution layers, but Maestro’s multi-agent governance feels more mature. And the newer AI-native tools are great for quick prototypes but usually fall short on enterprise controls.

5. Early Signs Look Encouraging
   Since the launch, we’ve seen solid adoption metrics, millions of agent runs reported, wins in regulated industries, and deepening partnerships (Microsoft Copilot Studio, NVIDIA for on-prem AI, Snowflake for closing the analytics-to-action loop). Leadership has guided that agentic features should start contributing meaningfully to revenue in FY2027.

There is definitely execution risk, nothing is guaranteed. Execution has to be flawless, and customers need to see clear ROI quickly. If adoption is slower than expected, whether from macro caution or tougher competition, the growth reacceleration could take longer. That said, the strategic logic is compelling. In a future where enterprises run fleets of autonomous agents, the company that owns the orchestration layer has a durable moat. If Maestro delivers as intended, it could be the catalyst that puts UiPath on a sustained higher-growth trajectory.

Valuation

Many people see a PLTR like move with PATH. I more so see it as a low risk, high upside potential if growth reaccelerates.

✅ First GAAP profitable quarter ever

Q3 was fine, but the growth story is still entirely forward looking. Guidance only implies 11–12% revenue growth for FY2026, and management explicitly said Maestro/agentic AI will have no material direct revenue impact this fiscal year.

Before I go into my model, anyone saying that revenue growth isn’t re-accelerating hasn’t looked into the income statement.

Just look at the QoQ and YoY growth. Is it more clear now?

Now that we’ve made that clear…..

My revised 5 year model:

- FY2026E: $1.60B (+12%)

- FY2027E: $1.90B (+19%) → first real Maestro pull-through

- FY2028E: $2.30B (+21%)

- FY2029E: $2.76B (+20%)

- FY2030E: $3.25B (+18%)

That’s a 19.4% revenue CAGR off the FY2026 base, assuming Maestro eventually adds 7–10 points of incremental growth and NRR creeps back toward 112–115%. Operating margins scale to 30% by FY2030 (very doable with 85% gross margins), driving ~$1.15B of FCF.

Valuation on FY2030 numbers:

- 8× EV/revenue → ~$49/share

- 6× EV/FCF → ~$44/share

- 25× FCF (base case) → ~$54/share

- 30× FCF (bull) → ~$64/share - This is my target for the next 5 years

So reasonable bull case target $50–55 longer term (2.8–3.1× from here). Bear case (15% perpetual growth, NRR never recovers) gets you roughly current price – basically zero upside. I want to be clear, this is conservative and the price can trade significantly higher.

DCF based fair value today: Using the above FCF projections ($390M FY26E ramping to $1.15B FY30E), an 11% discount rate (WACC), and 4% terminal growth rate post 2030, the discounted NPV comes to ~$12.7B EV. Adding back $1.52B net cash gives ~$14.2B equity value. With ~558Mish shares outstanding, that implies a fair value per share today of ~$25 (43% upside from $17.82, but well below the bull terminal multiples if growth exceeds expectations).

Bottom line folks: the balance sheet is a fortress, valuation is not demanding (5.4× EV/revenue, 23× FCF for a newly profitable SaaS name), and downside feels limited to low teens. But the reacceleration is still 100% dependent on Maestro actually moving the needle in calendar 2026–2027, and we have zero hard numbers on that yet.

If we have 10k customers today and growing 10-20% each year with a take rate of at least 20% with Maestro next year at an avg. ARPU of 140k. I could see $1.5b in revenue being added by 2030. I have barely accounted for this in my estimations. That being said, FV today would move somewhere towards the $30-40 mark.

Risk/reward is asymmetric in the bull scenario, but it’s not a layup. There is competition from (MSFT Power Automate + Copilot Studio, ServiceNow, etc.), and macro remains choppy.

My more bear case from a DCF perspective is shown below at a $18 intrinsic value. This is exactly why I believe that UI Path is a low risk opportunity given their strong balance sheet. For net debt, I am assuming lower figures than normal to gain a more conservative figure for EV.

My overall thesis and final thoughts

1. Strategic Thesis

UiPath’s ambition is clear: to become the “system of record” for automation and AI orchestration across the enterprise. By layering AI capabilities on top of its RPA foundation, UiPath aims to transform from a task automation vendor into a governance hub for complex workflows. This move effectively doubles its addressable market from approximately $60 billion in traditional automation to $120–150 billion when AI-driven “data to action” loops are included.

2. Why Now? Addressing the Orchestration Gap

Organizations are experimenting with multiple AI models and agents, but without a unified framework, these efforts often result in fragmented systems, compliance challenges, and scalability issues. UiPath’s Maestro platform seeks to solve this by providing a governance layer where AI agents can safely interact with people and robots. The timing couldn’t be any better as the initial AI hype transitions into practical integration, budgets are shifting from experimentation to deployment. If UiPath succeeds (which I think they will), this could create a powerful growth flywheel; if not, it risks being perceived as another vendor pitch.

3. Technology Stack: Combining Deterministic and Adaptive Approaches

UiPath’s platform combines a rule based RPA core valued for its auditability and compliance, with AI extensions such as Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), Intelligent Automation Platform (IXP), and coded agents. This hybrid approach appeals to regulated industries like finance and healthcare, where explainability is critical. From the recent data, the early indicators are promising. I.E a healthcare pilot processed 20 million pages with 35% fewer errors. The long term success will depend on seamless integration of low-code and pro-code environments, particularly as developers adopt frameworks like LangChain.

4. Adoption Signals

Since Maestro’s launch, UiPath has recorded over 1 million agent runs and 170,000 orchestrated instances, suggesting early product-market fit. The company serves 10,800 customers, including 320 generating more than $1 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). Retention metrics are strong—gross at 98% and net at 108% but we could see some churn risk could rise as AI native alternatives emerge. Management expects AI related revenue to become material by FY27. A conservative outlook assumes 20–25% cloud ARR growth however, I believe macroeconomic headwinds could temper this trajectory.

5. Partnership Ecosystem: Building a Flywheel

UiPath’s partnerships are a strategic lever for growth:

• Microsoft: Deep integration with Copilot Studio, Teams, and Azure AI positions UiPath as Microsoft’s preferred orchestration partner.

• OpenAI: ChatGPT connectors enable workflows to trigger directly within enterprise environments.

• NVIDIA: On-premises AI agents via NVIDIA NIM cater to regulated sectors, offering an edge hyperscalers cannot match.

• Snowflake: Real-time workflow execution from Snowflake data closes the analytics-to-action loop.
