I grew up in a Christian household where the commonly accepted belief was that any mention of sexuality was forbidden. Everyone at the dinner table started squirming in their seats the moment the word ‘sex’ was spoken. It felt like we were committing a sin just by entertaining the mere idea of it.

So as a teenager, of course, I was curious and wanted to explore this mysterious energy everyone seemed so afraid to talk about. I grew up believing that all sexual activity was dirty, unsacred, wrong, and never, ever to be discussed. And especially if Grandma was around… that could be crazy dangerous.

It took me decades of unraveling the tension, fear and excitement around what sex was before I could realize that sexual energy was something deeply sacred.

I ascended into the spiritual path of Tantra, which at its ancient core has really nothing to do with sex, yet more about merging with God. Yet, when they spoke about two bodies merging into one radiant aliveness, with the raw electricity of God moving through our flesh, something deeply sacred awoke inside my being.

I realized that every human being was born with a divine potentiality that completely shattered my understanding of orgasm. I always heard that orgasm was simply one explosive climax that a man reached before collapsing into a deep slumber afterward.

Then, I began understanding how a man could experience rolling, full-body waves of orgasmic energy without ejaculating, allowing that current to continue moving through the body for several hours, building up to a multi-orgasmic, never-ending climax.

This was something completely new to me, beyond anything I had ever understood about sexuality, and I really wanted to experience it inside myself.

So I went on a desperate secret search to learn how to do this. I knew I needed to find the right woman with this ancient knowledge and experience who could teach me. Something inside me knew there was an entire universe of higher pleasure and expanded consciousness waiting to be discovered.

I told myself I was willing to practice with any woman who came into my life and was genuinely devoted to the Tantric path. What’s interesting is that I didn’t find just one woman, but many Tantrikas who were equally devoted to exploring this path and needed a partner for their own journey.

I’m a firm believer that God does not make mistakes. We were not born simply to drag ourselves through life, enduring one struggle after another until it’s over. The orgasmic energy available inside our bodies is not an accident. We were born with this natural gift that can catapult our consciousness into the highest dimensions of the universe.

Accessing our highest sexuality and sensuality is a door to the most expanded states of consciousness that no drug or medicine can replicate. I think this is because God wanted everyone to have an instant inner avenue to bliss that they can access any time.

There are sooo many learned judgments that have created bodily tension around welcoming pleasure. Ironically, pleasure is one of the most natural languages of the human body, yet we’ve been conditioned to distrust it, suppress it, feel guilty about it, or believe we must somehow earn it.

Pleasure is not frivolous. It is not something “extra” that we are allowed to experience only after all the work is finished, the bills are paid, the children are asleep, and every task has been crossed off the list.

Pleasure is our natural birthright. Yet we must recognize that we are living in a world that, for generations, has taught people to deny their animal nature, and then repress, shame, and reject this incredibly natural part of being human. Some of our deepest healing happens by simply allowing our body to discover that it is safe to soften, open, feel, and enjoy receiving pleasure again.

I find that most human beings walk around thinking their sexuality is normal, yet are deeply unaware of how repressed they actually are when it comes to receiving pleasure. It’s only when they are called to attend a tantric festival in Europe or a secret polyamorous play party that they realize how their body starts to tremble and either wants to dive head first into the center of the room naked or secretly wants to run for the door.

This unconscious habit of repressing sexual energy doesn’t mean that our pleasure centers are broken. They have simply been shamed and trained to survive on a few breadcrumbs of sensation. I used to believe that a male ejaculatory orgasm was the highest peak any man could achieve and was the great goal of sexual intercourse. Now I understand that compared to what the multi-orgasmic body is truly capable of experiencing, it’s about as satisfying as a good sneeze.

I am by no means trying to boast or brag about what I’ve discovered. In fact, it’s just the opposite. I am deeply humbled by it, and even more outraged by how primitive our sex education classes still are in schools and how lost our society has become, turning to pornography and now even AI girlfriends in search of the intimacy, pleasure, and connection we were never taught how to experience.

When our teenagers grow up in a society that have to hide the word S. E. X on their Instagram posts because they know it will be rejected by the anti-sex algorithm, the shame is already assumed. It seems right to hide or guard ourselves from the orgasmic energy which actually wants to pour through us every second.

Yet, the deeper truth, as I have come to understand it, is that behind every heartbeat, every breath, and every pulsation of life is the God Source, which has embedded within our very biology profound levels of divine pleasure. I believe many of the mental and nervous-system struggles we see everywhere today, including anxiety, chronic restlessness, sleep issues, nervous-system fragility, and even some of what gets labeled as ADHD, are all psychosomatic disorders that arise from inside our bodies after spending years suppressing our natural impulses and capacity for pleasure.

To me, this disconnection from the pleasure of being alive is the real plandemic. It has been planted by religious indoctrination and reinforced through generations of shame, repression, fear, overwork, and conditioning. And now our work is to recognize what has happened, turn toward the very life-force we were taught to suppress, and give a wholehearted yes to it.

Once we understand that the fragmentation we experience in our nervous systems can be deeply rooted in the unresolved fear, shame, suppression, and disconnection held within our first two chakras, we can begin to heal it. We simply need to start reconnecting our spiritual essence with our sexual energy, bringing what was divided back into wholeness.

The first step is allowing ourselves to trust that our sexual energy is sacred. It is not separate from our spiritual nature. It is an expression of the same life-force moving through every breath, heartbeat, and cell of our being. As this trust deepens, we can begin to feel safe embodying this sacred relationship with our own sexual energy wherever we are, without needing to suppress it, act it out, or apologize for its existence.

I feel drawn to talking more about the multi-orgasmic subject this year, and would like us all to bring the sex topic into a more reverent level of conversation, reframing sexuality and sensuality as doorways to the Divine. Not because it’s a super ‘hot topic’, but because the darkness needs to be brought fully into the light.

My guidance keeps telling me that 2026 is going to be the final ending year of the Biblical Revelation prediction of the 7-year apocalypse where all the blasphemous secrets are needing to be exposed. I feel this is perhaps the biggest secret that has captured the most people, because it is the most common, most accepted, most overlooked, and has the deepest normal element of shame attached to it.

Honestly, I actually feel nauseous just thinking how accepted it has become to shame someone who speaks openly about their sex life anywhere in the world. Imagine how different our relationships would be if we were taught from childhood to meet our sexuality with the same reverence that we give to love, creativity, and spirituality.

Yet beneath all my frustration and seriousness about this, there is always this soft welcoming invitation to feel the warmth and softness of your own skin, the tenderness of your heart, and the deliciousness of whatever it is that makes you attracted to someone and truly turned on.

My invitation and homework for you this year is to welcome more pleasure into every cell of your body than you have in your entire life. Why not? You never know when your time is up.

Maybe your deepest mission is to learn how to trust and be open to receive the blessings from some of the opposite sex (or same sex if that’s your preference). Perhaps your soul’s highest purpose is to learn how to enjoy every moment of your life and to taste every life experience deeply, and remember the innocent joy of being alive.

Pleasure is very simple, soft, and sweet. It doesn’t have to be crazy, wild, and uncontained. It can come from the deepest stillness where the spirit meets the body and has nothing to do with the mind.

If you think about every single animal, plant, and species alive in nature, they are all making love as often as possible. Every flower is doing its sexy pollination thing without shame. Every wild dog on the beach is moving with their animal instinct and is not embarrassed by their desire to show it in public.

If you look deep enough, you might even notice the ocean is quite tantric as well, rolling its waves softly onto the shoreline with hypnotic caress and care. Perhaps every single thing on this Earth is making love to itself and humans are the only species who are continuously busy fighting another war.

When I read that more than 645 million human beings are still living with hunger, many without reliable access to nutritious food, I find myself asking: Why the heck is this still happening? There are roughly 3,500 to 4,000 billionaires on this planet today. If they collectively redirected even half of one percent of their enormous wealth toward effective hunger interventions, it could provide more than the estimated annual investment needed to address chronic hunger worldwide.

And what does this have to do with pleasure? Everything.

When human beings become disconnected from the natural pleasure already available within their own bodies, hearts, relationships, and connection with the Divine, we begin searching outside ourselves for something that will finally make us feel enough. More money. More possessions. More power. More status. More stimulation. More, more, more.

Perhaps this is one of the deepest diseases of our civilization.

Last week I stumbled across a collection of awakening messages that completely stopped me in my tracks. Within minutes of reading them, I felt a thick layer of mental noise peel away from my mind. I didn’t even realize I’d been carrying such a heavy mental load until it suddenly vanished.

Recently, this little stray dog has been coming to my door. He’s quite skinny. You can see his ribs. He approaches me very cautiously, as if he’s expecting to be rejected and pushed away.

Normally, I try to shoo away the Costa Rican strays because once you feed them, they never leave, and they're usually covered in fleas. We’ve had major flea problems in the past since my other two dogs Kunda and Lini (Kundalini, get it?) love to sleep under my covers or on top of my bed.

So for the first couple of weeks, I was spraying this blue-eyed stray with a squirt gun and telling him to leave our yard. He would quickly scamper off with his tail between his legs, yet the very next day he came right back. This went on for several weeks.

Then something happened inside me today that felt very different. It began with one of the daily reminder notifications that appears on my phone. Each reminder is designed to redirect my mind back to the 28 most important thoughts I want to be thinking each day. I will include these at the end for paid subscribers…

I receive a new spiritual reminder every half hour. It’s an amazing way to keep your mind clear, on track and centered throughout the busiest of days.

And while I stood there on my driveway looking at this stray dog, the notification popped up that said...

There are no others.

It hit me like a ton of bricks. I realized in that moment that there are no others doesn't stop with human beings. It includes every living creature.

So I began to look deeper into this dog’s beautiful blue eyes, and I could feel the loneliness, rejection, and hunger he was experiencing.

He had no home. He had no owner. Nobody was taking care of him, feeding him, or giving him shelter during the rainy season.

He must have been abused because he was terrified of getting close to anyone. Yet I could feel he desperately wanted connection, cuddles, and something to eat.

Perhaps it’s not super obvious that I’m a huge dog lover, yet it breaks my heart to see any animal suffering. So I started feeding him today.

I gave him all the extra food scraps that I would have given to my own dogs. I went through my cupboards and refrigerator and gave him everything I could find. He devoured coconut meat, bananas, and every leftover I thought might help him.

I thought this would fill him up and he would stop eating. Nope. He wanted more. He looked at me and wagged his tail as if he were saying, "Thank you." Tears started to pour down my face. His scrawny body looked like he'd been turned away a thousand times.

I decided to apply my spiritual practice of “there are no others” while looking even deeper into his sad blue eyes. Then I saw something I’d never realized before. I wasn’t looking at a stray dog anymore. I was looking into my own blue eyes when I was a little boy.

In that moment, every part of me that had ever felt abandoned, unwanted, misunderstood, or forgotten was looking back at me through this animal. He was asking for the same love my inner orphan had always longed for.

I saw this little five-year-old boy inside me who was punished and pushed away into his room week after week for crimes he didn’t know he committed. I remembered feeling so ashamed, wondering what I had done wrong and why I wasn’t allowed to be with my family.

I could feel those deep holes of rejection inside me, scrounging for just a few breadcrumbs of love.

I realized in that moment that’s all I ever wanted as a child, just a few scraps of love. Nothing much. But I was so dysregulated and packed full of white sugar, which is probably why Mom referred to me as “obnoxious.”

Just like this stray pooch, I didn’t know how to hold myself emotionally. I was too young, too emotionally neglected, physically abused, and didn’t know how to regulate the emotions I was feeling. All I knew was that if I agitated the people around me, at least I got some kind of attention.

This wasn’t the kind of love I wanted, but it was still a form of connection and better than being completely ignored. My mother often talked over me, through me, and rarely listened or respected whatever truth I had to share.

Perhaps that’s why it became so painful for me to push this poor dog away. I realized I was doing exactly what had been done to me. Reject that orphaned part. Don’t let it get too close to you. Emotionally castrate it, push it further away so you don’t have to feel its pain. Let him know he is unwanted like a disease and not lovable.

I didn’t want this mangy mutt too close to my bedroom door. The strong, authoritative dad voice inside told me last week to throw rocks at him until he got the message and finally left for good! That stupid orphan is dirty, smelly, disgusting, and you don’t want him anywhere near your clean pets.

The message kept reappearing in my mind… there are no others.

He’s so scared.
Feels sooo abandoned.
He’s done nothing wrong.
He’s just hoping somebody will feed him.

I saw the whole thing so clearly…

There truly are no others.

He’s just me in a dog’s body, hoping for a few scraps so he can sleep well tonight.

I also just wanted a few morsels of love and connection so I could sleep through the night, so I wouldn’t wet the bed, so I wouldn’t be terrified of getting spanked for something I didn’t even know I’d done wrong.

So I decided to start feeding the orphan part of myself. He hasn’t let me get close enough to hold him yet. His hunger is insatiable. I’m running out of scraps and have moved to giving him real dog food.

I don’t know where he sleeps at night, yet every afternoon he sits by my front door. Never whining or demanding. Just silently waiting for something.

He looks into my eyes for a few seconds before he looks down or looks away. Unable to hold eye contact for very long until he feels so insecure that he needs to look away.

He’s waiting for the next plate. His appetite seems endless. His ribs are still showing no matter how much I feed him. No matter how much love I give him, he still wants more. It’s never ever enough.

The mirror couldn’t be more perfect.

Life never stops revealing the places within us that are still asking to be loved.

It’s almost like I need to find a way to bring him into the house. Snuggle him. Let him know that he’s finally safe. He won’t let me get close enough to touch him. He’s terrified of getting abused and abandoned again.

I imagine he keeps himself emotionally distant because he doesn’t ever want to feel that level of rejection again. He chooses to sleep alone in a cold dark place.

I imagine his inner world saying, "Nobody actually cares about me, so why should I care about myself?" And he goes to his room and hides his hurt feelings away.

I’m just going to keep feeding him until I can’t see his ribs anymore.

It’s the least I can do.

So I bought him a rack of fifty bananas. He can have them all. Yet another part of me wants to feed him steak and chicken, give him anything he needs.

Because if he really is my inner child…

If he really is little Jafree…

If he actually is that little orphan inside me…

Then I just want him to know that he’s loved.

I want him to know he has a home.

A place where he belongs.

A place where he can finally relax and feel cared for.

I already have two dogs.

When I was a teenager, after I was baptized into the Mennonite church, I desperately wanted proof that God actually existed. They told me that God was real, but I never experienced a direct connection. I was simply expected to believe whatever they told me.

My parents forced me to attend church every Sunday for eighteen years, followed by Bible studies in the basement, where they presented the Bible as the ultimate authority for knowing God and understanding His will. They spoke about God as a male figure and taught me that only through devotion, faith, and service could I become a “good holy boy” and one day meet Him in Heaven.

As a result, I grew up believing that God existed outside of me, in a place far away, and I could only find Him through one book and inside a holy church.

When we drove back home, I always felt like nothing was sacred anymore, and I was outside the spiritual realm and unworthy of encountering His holy Presence.

A mentor later told me that he met God through prayer, and this was the most direct path to experience God. So I tried it and found my mind constantly wondering if I was heard or just talking to myself inside my head.

So I decided to devote my life to secretly exploring what other religions believed about God, wondering if anyone out there could actually prove His existence or had experienced God directly.

This quest to prove God was real stayed with me into my mid-twenties because it came from such a deep, innocent, yet persistent childlike curiosity. There was also a rebellious part of me that knew if something as all-powerful and omniscient as God were real, there had to be a way to meet this being, no matter where I was or who I was with.

So I traveled the world and searched everywhere for people living on the edge of what the Christians in my church believed. I discovered these incredible spiritual books, explored Eastern religious philosophies, listened to people’s near death experiences, and yearned for any kind of grounded story to piece together some kind of certainty.

Yet it seemed that no matter how much amazing information I gathered, it never quenched my thirst to know what a direct experience of God was like. I always felt like I was circling the periphery of the “God Zone,” trying to understand the Divine from a great distance.

I couldn’t seem to escape from my Christian belief system thinking God was an entity who lived somewhere up there rather than inside the here and now.

Most people looked up to the stars when they referred to God, and never looked down at the earth or inside their own bodies when they mentioned God. Perhaps because their conviction was so strong, I naturally believed they knew what they were talking about.

After my father committed suicide when I was twenty-three years old, I was so distraught and devastated by the event that I found my spiritual search pulling me to the deepest recesses of my being to find God.

So I studied and practiced meditation daily and started attending satsang gatherings, where the goal was to lay down your ego and sit at the feet of the Divine within.

I began having very strong moments of intense clarity and knowing an undeniable truth. Eventually, my Norwegian wife suggested that I quench my spiritual hunger and we travel to meet a genuine spiritual master in India. One of the greatest discoveries I’ve ever had on the spiritual path was realizing God was never hidden from me. I was hiding from God inside my own mind.

I just couldn’t experience God because my mind was too fascinated and distracted by its own thoughts to stop and see that God has always been here.

How could God not be here now?
Where else would God be?

Every opinion, belief, and desire my mind clings to appears to separate me further from the Divine. Every resentment I rehearse and every achievement I secretly worship becomes another curtain hanging over a window that has never been closed. The sun never stops shining, even when we shut all our curtains and bolt all our doors. The God Source is still emanating through every atom in the universe.

Many of us imagine that finding God requires a dramatic spiritual awakening in our lives, our minds, or our outer scenery. Some think they’ll be closer to God in a church, temple, or some secret Himalayan cave the Masters of the Far East have inhabited for the past 5,000 years. This search is merely another attempt to prove that God is not right here, right now.

When I speak about giving something up to find God, I’m not talking about abandoning our desires, possessions, or even our emotional attachment to being saved. While this may appear to be a helpful shortcut for some religious folk, we can never know God fully as long as we believe something first needs to be done for us to become worthy of the Divine.

The real giving up stems from the deepest inside job we can imagine. Whatever appears to separate us from God is the illusion we must give up. It’s really that simple. The Universe is benevolent and wouldn’t make this overly complicated. Yet, this delusion is so subtle it cannot be easily grasped, or even measured or proven to even exist. Yet why does it persist?

The only thing I've found that truly stands between the Divine and me is my habit of clinging to a limited, time-bound identity.

Whatever I’ve defined as “me” immediately becomes something I’m busy protecting and defending throughout the day. If I start my day feeling peaceful and unattached to the ideas and beliefs about who I am, I naturally stop protecting this little “me” throughout the day.

I can watch my mind maintain the story, build cases for why it’s doing what it’s doing, and reinforce my personality with it. Yet underneath it all, I see how every thought, reaction, fear, and desire I cling to is simply another attempt to preserve a separate self.

Through every attachment to our ego and identity, we unconsciously ask the world to confirm that we exist as someone separate from the Divine. Of course, this is an exhausting performance that nobody can continue forever, thank God. Yet it is the one most people mistake for ordinary human life.

The great comical irony here is that the one defending your ego is nothing more than an amalgamation of ideas. None of these beliefs have any real substance behind them. They feel real, yet they will change over time. What needs our attention is not the story itself, but the one who keeps clinging to it.

The Divine never clings because It has nothing to lose. It needs no protection because It is eternal, continually reborn in every moment, and an infinite Source that never dies. Our true spiritual nature is this infinite Source. It has never been wounded, diminished, or destroyed. It is the eternal Light shining brighter than the sun.

Every authentic spiritual path eventually brings us to the same profound realization: nothing essential has ever been missing. We don't awaken by collecting more knowledge, mastering more techniques, or accumulating spiritual experiences. We awaken by remembering the Divine Presence that has been living within us from the very beginning.

When we become overly focused on the outer world, we lose touch with our divine inner Presence. We begin searching outside ourselves for safety, freedom, security, and anything that might relieve the discomfort and insecurity we feel inside. The more disconnected we become from the guidance of the heart, the more easily we are influenced by collective fields of fear that shape how we perceive ourselves, one another, and the world.

I’m sure you are aware of how much intensity, fear, and chaos is happening on the planet today. I believe its all caused by the mass media egregore. An egregore is a collective thought-form, or energetic field of consciousness, created and strengthened by the shared thoughts, emotions, and attention of large groups of people.

Through the constant stream of fear, anger, division, and outrage amplified by the news, social media, and other forms of mass communication, our individual fields of consciousness gradually become conditioned to these lower emotional states. When a billion people emotionally resonate with these dense emotional states, they unconsciously feed the egregore, strengthening its influence over the collective consciousness of humanity.

When all of these people wake up and immediately scroll through twenty alarming headlines before breakfast, they carry that emotional state into every conversation for the rest of the day. That is how an egregore is fed. Our attention becomes its fuel, and before we even realize it, we’ve begun seeing the world through the emotional lens it has created.

I don’t believe this egregore happens by accident. Whether by design or by systems that profit from attention and fear, the result is the same. Humanity becomes easier to control when it lives in a constant state of anxiety. Humanity resembles the proverbial frog placed in a pot of slowly heating water. As the temperature rises almost imperceptibly over the years, it never realizes the danger until it’s too late.

In much the same way, our nervous systems have already adapted to levels of fear, stress, intensity, and uncertainty that would have seemed unimaginable only a decade ago. Many of the movies, television series, and online videos we consume each day are designed to keep the body tense and the nervous system anticipating danger. After enough repetition, we stop recognizing this heightened state as stress and begin accepting it as normal. The heat has been turned up so gradually that many people now mistake chronic worry, emotional overload, and relentless distraction for everyday life.

As this egregore grows stronger, it tightens its grip on the heart, making it more difficult to remember our true Divine nature. We become consumed by financial pressure, endless information, emotional reactivity, and the constant feeling that something is wrong or about to go wrong. Living in survival mode, we forget that we are creative, conscious beings with an extraordinary capacity to shape our experience.

The moment we become conscious of its influence, we begin to step outside of it. In my experience, intuition is our direct connection to Divine Intelligence, our Higher Self. When we learn to attune ourselves to this peaceful inner voice, it becomes the most trustworthy guide we will ever know. The only reason we don’t know how to trust this inner voice is because we have been listening to the frequency of the egregore, which thrives on self-doubt, mistrust, and fear. It continually whispers that your intuition can’t be trusted.

It took me years to fully surrender to the truth that our Higher Self speaks through our intuition, and in my experience, it has never led me astray. The voice of the egregore will resist this truth every step of the way. Yet the moment we trust our Higher Self completely, life becomes profoundly magical, synchronistic, and filled with miracles beyond anything we can imagine.

The more time we spend resting in the heart, the less fear we unconsciously invite into our bodies, and the less suffering we attract into our lives. As we return again and again to this sacred center, its calm, loving, and compassionate presence naturally expands, becoming the foundation of true embodied ascension.

Real ascension we are moving towards is not a head trip, but a deeply grounded transformation of our whole being rooted in the heart. When we live from the heart, we naturally embody a higher level of consciousness and can never completely return to the lower-frequency way of living we once knew.

True embodied ascension has nothing to do with beliefs, thoughts, or trying to become someone else. It is the natural remembrance that the heart is the center of unconditional love, the seat of the highest consciousness, and the purest essence of who we truly are.

As the heart opens, living from this higher state of consciousness becomes our new normal, where each day reveals greater freedom, spiritual sovereignty, and our direct union with God.

Whatever problems you have right now will instantly begin to dissolve by resting in your heart. I’m not talking about resting there for just a few seconds, but investing more time there throughout your day. As you do, your nervous system gradually rewires itself. Your worries, fears, and feelings of separation slowly lose the emotional energy that has been sustaining them until they eventually fade away on their own.

When we are truly living from the heart, we become still enough to hear the deeper calling of our soul, which knows where to go, what to do next, and how to guide us toward our highest destiny. We discover that all the answers we searched for outside ourselves were patiently waiting within us all along.

One of the first things I hope to teach my 2-year-old daughter, when she’s old enough to understand, is how to bring deep silence to her mind by learning to hear the guidance arising from her heart. To me, this is one of the greatest gifts a parent can offer a child, because no matter how noisy, confusing, or distracting the world becomes, she will always know how to find her way back home to herself.

Whether we’re two years old or eighty years old, the invitation is exactly the same. Each phrase guides awareness into a different part of the body. Quiet mind invites the head to release mental chatter and settle into stillness. Open heart softens the chest, allowing love, compassion, and trust to naturally expand. Relaxed being grounds awareness deep into the root of the body, creating the safety and stability needed for every part of us to let go.

“The law of detachment means that in order to acquire anything in the physical universe, you have to relinquish your attachment to it. This doesn’t mean you give up your intention to create your desire. You give up your attachment to the result.” ~ Deepak Chopra

The wise Buddha once said, “Attachment leads to suffering.” What he meant was that whenever we become attached to a desire, belief, thought, feeling, an identity, or anything for that matter, we needlessly suffer. Suffering arises because everything changes in the world, and attachment doesn’t allow natural change to occur. It is a gripping energy born from fear, lack, and disconnection from Source.

We tighten our grip on certain desires and identities because, deep down, we believe we need them in order to feel safe, happy, secure, or loved. This overly tight grip on life simply means we are not feeling the natural connection in our hearts to the great healing Source and Spirit within ourselves.

As long as the mind continues to circulate in this vicious cycle of attachment, we can never truly relax and fully access this ever-expanding, all-loving spiritual Source that radiates at our very core. The more tightly we cling, the further we drift from the peace that has always been available within.

One of my greatest attachments was to my relationship to my wife Hari unfolding the way I believed it should. That attachment often kept me from enjoying the relationships for what it is, and giving myself the space to sit quietly with my own heart. After 8 years together, I had become dependent on the relationship itself to feel loved, connected, and whole.

Currently Hari and I are living in separate homes while peacefully sharing our time with our daughter, Naia. Surprisingly, it’s become a beautiful unexpected chapter for all our lives. For the first time in nearly ten years, I have time to be with myself, reflect, heal, create, and deepen my connection with the Divine.

Had I remained attached to our relationship needing to look a certain way, I would probably be suffering through this season instead of appreciating the unexpected gifts it has brought. Sometimes life changes the outer appearance yet cannot take away the love. Sometimes it lovingly removes our attachments so we can finally discover the freedom that was waiting beneath them all.

Whenever my happiness is determined by any thought, feeling, person, or external event, I can see how I’ve become a slave to it. This is the moment when the great egoic cycle of suffering begins. My expectations and disappointments are perfect examples of how attachment leads to suffering.

If I am attached to my desire to have the perfect loving wife and marriage manifests or doesn’t, then it becomes the leading cause of my happiness and unhappiness. The very instant I am attached to my desire or dream, I end up forgetting about the love, joy, freedom, that is here now between us. When I let go, I can see we have endless blessings to be thankful for.

Attachment doesn’t simply limit what we receive. It limits what we are able to see. The grip onto any thought narrows the mind and eventually blocks our energy, creativity, and vibration. Our clinging prevents us from perceiving the new ideas and opportunities that are presenting themselves to us.

So perhaps you’re asking, how can we be excited about our desires in life, yet approach them in a non-attached, easygoing way?

The secret is finding the middle path.

“The middle path brings vision, self-knowledge, and leads to peace.” ~ Buddha

If we are too attached or too unattached to our desires, they won’t manifest. We must hold them as if they were a baby bird sitting in our hand. Don’t hold it too tightly or you’ll suffocate it, and not too loosely, or it will fly away.

The real secret is finding our natural, relaxed, trusting connection to Source, which feels the infinite support of the all-intelligent, omnipotent God Source inside. This connection is always born out of surrender and trust, and is free from worry and fear. When we feel connected, there is no need to get attached to anything of this world.

The magical part is that we feel truly fulfilled from inside, and each of our desires has this magical tendency to manifest faster and easier because we are not believing they are the source of our fulfillment.

Yet, the mind becomes hooked on beliefs that it gets addicted to chasing, which say things like, “I don’t have enough money to live my dream life. I don’t have the knowledge, power, energy, love, connection, or understanding to manifest what I desire.”

We simply need to retrain our minds to hold empowering beliefs as gently and lovingly as if they were the most precious baby bird resting in our hands. When we nurture them consistently, the mind naturally begins generating thoughts like, “I can easily create the money, knowledge, power, energy, opportunities, and understanding needed to manifest whatever I truly desire.”

Whatever we consistently believe, we gradually create. We either manifest an effortless adventure of conscious creation, or we continue living in a daily struggle, believing that life is something we must constantly fight just to survive.

The Buddha always taught that the secret to enlightenment is discovering the middle path. To find that middle, we must look within ourselves, stepping out of the periphery and moving toward our true center.

The real work we are here to do is allow the outer world to help us surrender deeper into our heart. All of our outer struggles are simply pointers redirecting us back inside. Pain is like a hot poker reminding us to step back, rest, and rediscover our center, which opens up the middle path.

If we ignore the painful message, we suffer more, and that suffering is the greatest teacher we could meet. It’s showing us where we are still attached, and where to let go of what no longer serves us.

If you want to discover whether you’re too attached to a thought, simply notice what is happening in your body. When we listen with deep sensitivity to the body, we naturally find a way to loosen or tighten our grip on life, and then freedom begins to find us. Then we directly experience how magically perfect it all unfolds.

The Universe rewards us when we truly trust it, and challenges us more when we don’t. Whenever we come from fear, the mind becomes attached to whatever it can grasp onto. It could be a person, an idea, or some future desire. A tension forms in the body each time that attached thought appears. The more tension we carry, the less receptive we become to allowing our desired outcome into our lives.

The mind can tend to be a clingy master and the ultimate skeptic of life. It simply hasn’t learned how to trust life, so we must gently retrain it.

Whenever the mind believes this Universal power is not real, permanent, or trustworthy, we need to remind it that it is. When we stop clinging to thoughts, things, feelings, people, and memories, we begin to trust that the Universe is in charge of providing everything we need.

We can stop working so hard to push away our illusions and find a space to rest from our worries and fears. Then we can spend our precious time appreciating and basking in the Divine Source that has always been here, right now.

I’d like to invite you to explore a powerful non-attachment healing exercise. This is a wonderful practice that can actually be a lot of fun, and it offers instant clarity about how to find yourself on the path of freedom.

Enlightening Homework

Take 30-60 minutes to gaze deeply into your soul this weekend and take a closer look at the beliefs you feel are causing your suffering.

Write down every belief you think is causing you suffering.

Notice what you believe you need in order to be happy, peaceful, loved, successful, secure, or truly free right now. Observe each of these beliefs and desires that your mind is gripping onto as the hidden key to unlocking your deepest freedom.

Research every aspect of your life for signs of attachment. Look at your relationship with your body, mind, health, love life, career, money, friends, family, community, success, reputation, and future. Ask yourself, “How do these things need to be in order for me to feel happy, safe, loved, fulfilled, or free?”

Explore the deepest truth of who and what you are. After you make your list, read through it twice and notice which beliefs bring peace, and which ones create fear, pressure, lack, or suffering. 😍

It may take a few days to fully see and unravel your psyche from these patterns, so be patient with the process. Discovering the deepest roots of your suffering is similar to a massive archaeological excavation. You may do a ton of digging and just end up with dirt. But follow your intuition because almost always, it knows where to look for the great treasure.

When you’ve made your extensive list, ask yourself gently:

Do I truly believe having this one thing will ultimately give me all the freedom, love, abundance, peace, fulfillment, and satisfaction I desire?

If the answer is yes, ask one final question:

Who would I be without this attachment?

This is where the grip begins to loosen.
This is where your freedom has been waiting for you all along.

For the past 30+ years, I’ve been exploring Near Death Experiences (NDEs) from people around the world. These remarkable accounts have revealed to me that there is far more to this reality than we currently understand. One of the most fascinating reports came from a man I met in Sweden.

Our conversation was quite casual at first, until we somehow drifted into a discussion about the afterlife. Suddenly, he leaned towards me with this passionate look in his eyes and began sharing his story about what happened after he had “died” and left his physical body.

He said that he believes he had this particular type of NDE because he was intensely curious about how evolved his soul truly was. More than anything, he wanted to know exactly where he stood on God’s spectrum between good and evil. So he asked God to show him the truth.

What happened next completely transformed my understanding of the spiritual journey and where each soul actually is on its path through life.

The moment he asked God for the truth, he found himself standing on a precipice of a long tube-like shaft of energy. Looking down, he could see the energy becoming darker and darker. Everything became darker, more energetically dense, painful, and more ‘evil’ the further you looked down. There seemed to be no end to the amount of darkness. There was no bottom, and no final layer. Just an infinite descent into hell.

He said the longer that he looked into the darkness, the more he felt himself becoming absorbed and identifying with it. His mind started to become hypnotized by it and said to him, “The darkness is the truth. This darkness is who you are.”

Then he heard an angelic voice calling to him from above, inviting him to lift his gaze. As his eyes slowly moved upward, he saw and felt the energy was becoming lighter and brighter. At the very top was the brightest light imaginable. It was not a physical light, but what he described as the God Source itself, the Source of all light, love, and goodness.

He described it as the most beautiful light in the universe. It was infinite goodness, infinite beauty, and infinite love.

He said every quality we associate with heaven was just a concept compared to how he felt when he looked directly into the light. It was pure compassion, pure wisdom, and the purest unconditional love. The light was shining a love for him beyond anything words could describe.

And suddenly came a realization that changed everything.

When he looked at the energy closest to him, the frequency and color it represented was gray in comparison. Looking downward, it faded through countless shades of gray until it faded into total darkness. And looking upward, it expanded into an increasingly radiant spectrum of infinite light. In that moment, he realized he was standing precisely in the middle between infinite darkness and infinite light.

What fascinated me even more was what happened next...

He was bathing in such fearless light that he became curious about what it would be like to move up and down the spectrum. So he asked if he could explore, and dared to move his astral body down a hundred floors. When he looked around, he was surprised to see that he was in the exact same ‘gray zone’ as before.

Then, he felt inspired to ascend as high as he could, and rose perhaps a few thousand floors to experience more light around him. He was again surprised to find that the gray energy around him was exactly the same. He was still in the middle. It didn’t matter on the infinite spectrum which direction he moved. He was always still in the exact middle of infinity.

No matter what thoughts he believed were true about life, or which good actions he imagined he could take to improve his situation, his soul was perfectly centered in between an infinite amount of darkness and an infinite amount of light.

Then, in a moment of utter surrender, he asked his guidance on how he could move beyond this gray zone and experience only light all around him.

And in that moment, something deeply transformational began to happen...
