Historians of non-conventional energy inventions write about Ed Gray and his public demonstration of “cold electricity.” It has different qualities than what we’ve believed that electricity is.

They’ve linked the Gray motor to Nikola Tesla’s earlier experiments with what Tesla called “radiant” energy. Ed Gray and/or his company’s engineer had discovered that the discharge of a high-voltage capacitor could be shocked into releasing a powerful electrostatic burst of ray-like radiant energy.

Gray had plans for using the resulting technology for powering an electric vehicle. He died mysteriously before making that plan a reality or revealing his secrets.

Here’s the latest development on that Tesla/Gray mystery:

Alan Francoeur’s conviction— that he’s learned secrets of Gray’s motor —will be getting a road test.

I take his claim seriously; the Francoeur homestead in Canada has been off-grid for eight years. The property is powered by his generating electric power with a hybrid system using solar, a wind generator, micro hydro and also with exotic energy technologies. Al Francoeur described it at the Energy Science and Technology Conference (ESTC) he spoke at in June, 2026.

His ESTC presentation showcased his Dynamotor technology, which has run non-stop 24/7 for months at a time. He stopped it after a shop fire this year, then it ran for 66 days until he shut it off to attend the ESTC. (The Dynamotor was soon back in action.)

Planning road test

After Francoeur’s presentation, a retired engineer from the Yukon territory of northwestern Canada introduced himself.

Rod Rombough had previously bought a special pickup truck from Yukon University, where students were to convert it to an electric vehicle (EV) but the university project ran out of funding.

He now plans to donate the Ford Ranger to a joint effort with Francoeur, to create a super-efficient electric vehicle (EV.)

Charging EV batteries uphill and downhill?

“Rod wants to work with us,” Al told me, “and we’ll have a platform to create a new regenerating EV with our energy systems and circuits inside.”

Francoeur has been wanting to build an EV for demonstrating his ideas, which could make EVs and hybrid vehicles much more practical.

Those vehicles already use regenerative braking to recapture kinetic energy. That energy, produced by motion, is wasted in internal combustion vehicles as heat when brakes are applied.

Francoeur proposes that his regenerative system could revitalize batteries not only when EVs slow down. But also when the vehicle is motoring uphill. He’s seeing regenerative acceleration!

How did he manage to reproduce what was shown in a vintage video about the Ed Gray motor/generator?

Historical hardware plus intuition, insights and ingenuity

Over the years, Al Francoeur has collected original machines used by the late Ed Gray. He carefully cleaned them and found the exact replacements for vintage parts that were no longer useable.

I speculate that his meticulous cleaning, focused attention and intuitive feeling for the machines gave him initial insights about them, but I may be mistaken.

Francoeur‘s quest to understand what Nikola Tesla had been accomplishing with a “magnifying transmitter” took a new turn decades ago, when Francoeur watched waves of water combine, on a lake and magnify into a standing-wave form.

He viewed those merging waves as analogous to electrical phenomena involving Tesla’s “longitudinal waves” which, for Tesla, had created a radically different kind of electricity-- a “radiant energy” event.

“You played a part.”

Al Francoeur tells me that a box of various research papers I’d collected over the years gave him another clue about Ed Gray’s equipment.

In the box he found a photo which at that time had not been evident on the internet. It was of a Robert Alexander motor/generator. It looked identical to what was seen in an Ed Gray video.

Francoeur was hosting an online “Al F” discussion group at that time, and posted it for other researchers.

He looked up Alexander’s patent and realized that Alexander and Gray each lived in California around the same time.

Francoeur’s slide presentation at ESTC tells his story of his subsequently finding more Onan brand generators that are identical to what Gray had in a vintage “Zetex” promotional video.

Anomalous aerial phenomena

An unusual “aha” moment came out of a dark night sky in April, 2011.

The Francoeur family was viewing the stars from their mountainside home. Jan photographed “anomalous aerial phenomena” that Al experienced as hieroglyphics with a message “like with crop circles.” He felt he understood the message from the moving lights.

That profound experience spurred his thinking about “mirror image” concepts. That led him to the late Earl Koenig’s U.S. patent 7,806,834 Mirror Image Symmetry, which shows a way to generate greater magnetic fields with a given amount of wire.

“It’s not a dog!”

One important component of an Ed Gray machine remained a puzzle. The power supply.

He took the transformer (device that transfers energy, through electromagnetic induction, from one circuit to another) out of the power supply, to study it.

Francoeur didn’t want to dismantle a unique historical part that would have been ruined by breaking into it, yet he wanted to know its inner configurations.

So he took it to a veterinarian! The vet’s clinic had an X-ray machine for discovering broken bones in people’s pets.

Francoeur chuckles as he recalls what he told the veterinarian. “I know this isn’t a dog; it’s a transformer. I’ll pay you to X-ray it as if it’s my dog!”

With that X-ray, he was able to study what’s inside two components— the transformer and a “one-off device that’s on the (Gray) power supply. There’s not another one one the planet like it.”

Special coils are part of his system for recycling electricity.

At ESTC 2026 Al shared a generous amount of details, including his electrical circuits, so that others could also experiment with a system that re-uses electricity.

For instance, he credits the late Earl Koenig for pioneering a way to generate greater magnetic fields with a given amount of wire.

Francoeur carries that work forward, increasing the efficiency in helical coils. In ordinary classical-wound copper coils, the current flowing in one half fights the direction of electrical flow in the other half.

This month, not so much.

I’m sorry that a July 10 accident involving a stack of building materials has derailed me from weekly posts on Substack. For now.

So frustrating to not be able to spend much time at my computer. It would be a favorable time for that, because air quality (BC’s wildfire smoke outside) is keeping everyone in my city indoors anyway.

Realistically, I expect another month of healing to get me back to the weekly rhythm as well as to the joy of raising vegetables.

However, I’ve been working at a certain clean-energy news report, bit by bit, for several weeks and hope to have that story out to you early next week.

Please keep the positive picture in mind; your thoughts can help the healing.

That observation was heard during Sunday’s panel discussion at the 2026 Energy Science and Technology Conference (ESTC.)

The remark came from one of this year’s new-to-ESTC guest speakers, trauma therapist Tom DiFerdinando, who’s now president of the Orgone Biophysical Research Lab.

He was complimenting fellow presenters, most of whom are hands-on builders of practical hardware. DiFerdinando compared their practical and productive collaborations to a less helpful competitiveness that he’s observed at well-funded academic conferences.

The researchers who speak at ESTC are mostly self-funded. They invest years, decades, lifetimes to develop game-changing products.

A prevalent goal is to eventually sell kits, devices or machines to the public, for experimenters or for water quality, health, and clean electrical power.

An ESTC speaker who goes by the handle Hakasays is a good example of a knowledgeable and dedicated volunteer for these unusual research projects.

In his Tesla Coil talk, he encouraged experimenters to avoid wasting their time and talents on trivial activities, and instead stay focused on advancing whatever project appeals to them.

A thread running through ESTC 2026 (and not new to the group) was working with natural systems--guiding new technologies along nature’s preferred paths.

A vortex for example.

Electrical whiz Eric Dollard was, for health reasons, not at ESTC 2026 in person. Beamed in from Nevada, he talked for several hours at a time. To illustrate the hidden geometry of a natural process, he presented an image from Walter Russell’s The Universal One. In my copy of the book it’s page 139.

This year’s ESTC topics also included the Tesla turbine as reversed into a Tesla pump. Jeremiah Ferwerda shared that his father’s home had burned in a north Idaho fire. As a result, he wants to see rural homes be protected by the powerful Tesla-type water pumps.

The audience regrouped outside the warehouse while Ferwerda entertained them by starting up his Tesla pump and firehosing a stream of water across the street an impressive distance.

A professor from a Washington state university spoke about collaborating with the pump project.

Sustainable living was another presenters’ theme.

A wind generator project was designed to take wind power results “to the next level” for a couple who live off-grid in northern Idaho.

Peter Lindemann, DSc, author of books such as The Free Energy Secrets of Cold Electricity has improved on an unusual wind-powered generator to make it easier for individuals to build. He credited Mike Waters for earlier innovations of bladeless vertical-axis wind turbine designs.

Lindemann’s design has been installed and tested at the off-grid home of Terry and Jennifer McMenomy.

It catches wind as it comes from, and blows to, any direction. Lindemann and Terry McMenomy described the project’s development.

Cowboy lineman spoke at ESTC.

Volunteers who help Eric P. Dollard with projects in the Nevada desert refer to Justin Miller appreciatively as their ‘cowboy lineman.’ He gave an ESTC talk for the first time, with slides about ongoing projects of EPD Labs.

Miller also gave a presentation about his experiments with soil-regenerative ranching on rangeland.

He had found ways to entice cattle from pasture to greener pasture in line with his plan. Those fenced migrations did not destroy native grasses by over-grazing, and instead improved the soil on the land.

Offerings for body, mind and spirit.

Attendees enjoyed the relaxed Saturday night “listening party” with Davy Oneness music enhanced by his replication of John Bedini’s B.A.S.E. sound system.

They urged organizer Aaron Murakami to continue ESTC, even if it requires another location in Spokane besides the current venue, which is a high-ceiling industrial building with limited seating space.

After the coming holiday (July 1 in Canada, July 4 in USA) I’ll cover more developments discussed at ESTC 2026.

For instance, I’ve already written Substack articles about Al Francoeur’s work, and will keep you informed. Briefly, his ESTC presentation drew much interest.

As I see it, this series of breakthrough-energy meetings in the northwest USA is trending toward a holistic mix of topics.

EPD Labs’ consultant Adrian Marsh is a strong contributor in that body/mind/spirit direction, as well as helping uncover basic principles of electricity.

He’s a Cambridge-educated Ph.D. engineer with a successful career. At a young age he’d also begun his journeys of self-development and what he calls New Science.

“Esoteric Science includes feelings, whereas conventional science excludes feelings as ‘subjective’. Feelings (different from emotions) are direct irrational knowledge that originate in the Aetheric spectrum beyond our normal perception.”

Without judging anyone’s beliefs, Dr. Marsh’s presentations go beyond learning about the laws of nature in the physical world, and indicate that spirit is reality.

Nor was he focused on ancient Egyptian relics that may have inspired their research.

Instead, a dozen years ago his hobby had been a different expression of alternative energy and “bold experiments with innovative tech.”

He had plunged into that in 2004 when inventor John Bedini started an “SG group.” Davy successfully built multiple replications of what Bedini had named the Schoolgirl Motor

In the photo above, Davy was in his laboratory doing “Tesla Hairpin” experiments, lighting a fluorescent bulb in series with a 12-volt incandescent bulb. He’s holding it under salt water with his bare hands without getting any electrical shock.

Don’t try that experiment unless you thoroughly know what a Tesla hairpin circuit is, you have electronics expertise, and you build the circuit precisely as Nikola Tesla had done!

Davy Oneness has come a long way since 2016. For instance, back then he wasn’t explaining a connection with consciousness as he does now.

And he’d never considered writing a 340-page book.

Mysterious find at a flea market

However, unexpectedly a vintage black-and-white photograph landed in his hands. He’s spent nearly ten years investigating its origin.

He’s convinced that the conclusions from that investigation should be made public.

On the back cover of his book Area 72, he explains. “…energetic weapons far beyond the public’s imagination” hang over us, along with danger of World War III.

But at the same time, he adds, the answer to overcoming such problems may lay in our minds and hearts.

Davy Oneness sent me his resulting book.

Area 72 reads like a mystery written by an easygoing acquaintance. I was impressed that he’d investigated the work of breakthrough-energy’s pioneering theorists such as Thomas Bearden and Gabriel Kron.

A few days ago, I interviewed Davy on a Zoom call and experienced him as unassuming, on the quiet side, and straightforward in his replies, With a good dash of humor.
He sat surrounded by the effects of an electronics tradesman, in his home laboratory in Connecticut.

Davy was preparing to fly to Spokane, Washington, for this week’s Energy Science and Technology Conference, and admitted to feeling a bit nervous.
At ESTC, he’ll give his first two public presentations.

His bio on the ESTC site describes his day job as an industry’s Production Engineering Tech, “drawing on 30+ years of electronics expertise ranging from medical devices to nuclear instrumentation…”

I was surprised at how much hidden history Davy Oneness uncovered after his friend found that unusual old 16- by 20-inch framed photograph at a flea market and brought it to Davy.

The photo was of a nighttime street scene that included a giant gantry and a huge discharge of electricity. He cleaned the half-century-old photo and closely examined every detail.

The photo showed lights in the sky near what, according to data Davy dug up and connected, had been a secretive facility connected to General Electric.

Davy Oneness also has a YouTube channel.

He came to a conclusion about anomalous lights in the sky.
“Ever since World War II, this phenomenon has been in RADAR-dense skies, especially over military bases with significantly advanced RADAR and communications technologies.”

It’s a good read, yet self-published by an author whose expertise is in electronics, not in publishing, and I hope nobody belittles the resulting large typeface or maybe some typo in it.

Davy’s deep dive, researching over nearly a decade, should earn appreciation instead.

I’’m looking forward to his presentations, especially about John Bedini’s pioneering audio advancements.

Yet the June 24-28, 2026, schedule is still packed with working demos and presentations.

The reason that one of the speakers, engineer/entrepreneur Sky Huddleston, won’t be presenting his findings to the June 24-28 event is “very ESTC.”

Aaron explains: “Sky installed my plasma ignition system on his last working Bourke engine, and it produced so much power that it destroyed the engine.“

“With no running motor left to demonstrate, he’s unable to make it.”

The past week wasn’t going well for Eric P. Dollard either. He had to make a couple of emergency room visits and will not be at the conference in person. However, both of Dollard’s presentations can be live-streamed from his EPD Laboratories desert location in Nevada, and he’ll be able to answer the audience’s questions live.

Dollard is known in breakthrough-energy networks around the world. He’s a historian of electrical science as well as a respected experimenter. And known for having replicated Nikola Tesla’s wireless method for sending electricity long—distance.

Two of the EPD lab volunteers, Hakasays and Justin Miller, will step into Huddleston’s spot on the ESTC schedule.

The audience in Spokane, and those who sign up for the livestream of ESTC, can expect how-to-build details about Dollard’s ambitious project involving signals going through earth-based currents.

We can also expect a wealth of insights on a variety of energy-related topics from other ESTC 2026 presenters.

A third change for ESTC schedule.

Murakami reported today that, “Carmen Miller let us know at the last minute that she’s unable to attend, so her sessions have come off the schedule and the rest of the day has been rearranged.”

Personally learning

I’ve been writing and fussing about and rewriting a Substack post about Carmen’s father who was an inventor, and about his life, her own journey, and her vintage motor which seems to be Nikola Tesla’s first prototype of it.

But my prose just wasn’t jelling. I kept setting it aside and taking notes on online events that would have also been appropriate topics this month.

When I read Aaron Murakami’s newsletter today, I knew why I hadn’t been able to satisfactorily complete a post about Carmen’s presentation—it’s because she won’t be presenting it.

At the risk of sounding esoteric, here’s my conclusion:

If you don’t have the in-the-flow feeling about some task you’re really trying to finish, maybe it wasn’t meant to be.

When at home in England, he moves in two worlds.

His Cambridge university education qualified him to work on superconductors, semiconductors and quantum effect devices. That launched a career in engineering.

Today, his successes in that conventional world allow him the independence to explore far beyond conventional science.

The “explore far beyond…” part began early for Dr. Marsh.

Following is an excerpt from an autumn 2024 article in Nexus magazine, which I wrote after interviewing Dr. Marsh:

At 25 years of age he had accomplished much of what he had aimed to do, and was left with questions about the purpose of life. As a result, he has been on a journey of personal development for half of his fifty-some years.

And at that same young age, he renewed his interest in concepts such as an aether, and basics of what he calls New Science.

Now with his own laboratory, and in his own time, he helps uncover basic principles of electricity. You can see his ‘Wheelwork of Nature’ videos online, for instance.

Regarding his Wheelwork of Nature series, he explains,

“Nikola Tesla said there will come a time when we learn to attach our experiments and apparatus to the very ‘wheelwork of nature,’ so somehow we have to come into synch with natural processes.”

What is New Science?

Conventional science has limitations, although it creates useful structures. “Conventional science is a very good expression of the form of life—what things are made of, how they’re made, and how they interact with each other on a physical level.”

New science, on the other hand, joins electricity and energy research with esoteric and philosophical questions, Dr. Marsh said. It explores the aetheric spectrum, yet today’s science studies only a small part of that spectrum.

It gets personal.

“When we formulate an experiment so that we are part of the experimental equation, then we are doing new science.”

Golden ratio

An experiment first done by Eric Dollard in 1974 and rediscovered by Dr. Marsh provides an eye-opener.

The Golden Ratio experiment is where you see electricity displaying an underlying fundamental natural order, Dr. Marsh said.

Fern-like fractal patterns of a specially-created electrical discharge show nature’s preference for the Golden Ratio.

Mathematicians dating back into antiquity noticed that 1.6180339887… “mathematical constant” ratio and had other names for it, such as the Divine Proportion.

You’re probably familiar with the Golden Ratio as expressed in an expanding logarithmic spiral. You see that geometric shape, and the ratio in measurements of structures, everywhere—

• in classical Greek architecture,

• in measurements of the Great Pyramid,

• in the curl of an ocean wave,

• the spiraling pattern on a pine cone

• or petals on a rose.

The Golden Ratio “has a harmonious balanced feeling, a power in it.”

And electricity can display this underlying fundamental natural order!

Harmony with nature is the key

Don’t look for “natural order” in electricity coming out of the wall plug. The grid isn’t built for that.

In contrast, new-science experimenters create an electric discharge in a harmonious way which can only be done by setting up the conditions skillfully.

For example, the Tesla coil of a high enough frequency must create visible discharges and must be allowed to be in a natural resonant state with the generator.

“You don’t push the coil to do what it doesn’t want to do, or force it.” Forcing the coil collapses the Golden Ratio Discharge.

“When you look at the symmetry...fractal self-repeating, self-similar expansion and the Golden Ratio expansion in the discharge, it’s almost like a choreographed dance sequence….Almost like inherent intelligence is involved.”

“So it is very reflective of the natural order.”

An effect revealing Intelligence in nature can transform a worldview.

In my opinion, it’s time for educators to bring such knowledge into the zeitgeist, to inspire and empower future generations for creating harmonious technologies and societies.

I believe young people benefit from observing reality, learning to think independently, and gaining respect for the natural order on Earth and in the cosmos.

As I see it, Dr. Marsh is a good role model, for students to develop balance in their lives—balance between the technological and the higher/nonphysical levels.

On the tech level, he freely shares results of experiments related to Nikola Tesla’s discoveries.

He’s also mentored experimenters by teaching how to calibrate and use proper measuring equipment so they can accurately measure what they may have viewed as revolutionary results of their experiments.

His attention was caught by Tesla’s “Boundary Layer Bladeless Turbine.” It converts waste heat, from ordinary sources, into electricity.

Jeremiah is now preparing to demonstrate his latest Tesla turbine model at the 2026 Energy Science & Technology Conference (ESTC) in Spokane, Washington state, June 24-28.

He was excited about the output results when his multi-stage model was tested this spring.

“This is what I wanted, what my Dad wanted! He only uses about 500 watts of power, to charge his batteries when he runs his generator…”

Jeremiah’s father lives off-the-electrical-grid and relies on a wood-burning stove for heat in cold weather.

In rural areas such as northern Idaho, such stoves do double-duty, for heating a cabin and for cooking on. Other than removing excess ash and annual chimney-cleaning, those stoves and furnaces don’t need much except a supply of wood. Just find some dead trees and stock the woodshed before winter.

As kids, my siblings and I piled the scrap wood that Dad dumped on the driveway of our dairy farm. He hauled loads of free slabs from the local sawmill for our wood-burning stove.

For electricity we were lucky; the farm wasn’t in the wilderness and was on the grid.

Even today in remote areas, electricity isn’t as cheap and easy as woodpiles.

Yet back-to-land folks want to power their electronics or larger equipment, light their home and maybe a greenhouse.

They learn that combinations of batteries, solar panels and/or fuel-burning generators are expensive and have limitations.

When clouds block the sunlight for many days, you need a backup source for power. Ideally that wouldn’t be a big propane or gasoline tank.

So Jeremiah Ferwerda’s father shares his enthusiasm about Nikola Tesla’s bladeless turbine as potentially a solution.

With the help of crowd-funding and colleagues such as Aaron Murakami, it became the basis of a project to build more efficient and compact experimental energy systems.

The goal is to provide how-to information, to homeowners and small businesses, about Tesla’s “prime mover” invention.

Progress has been slow because Jeremiah had to take on other work for his living.

He plans to sell kits to support further development of his multi-stage system. The kits would contain basics for builders to experiment with Tesla bladeless turbines.

The machines also can be made to work as pumps.

Unlike ordinary propellers, Tesla’s pumps and turbines don’t require the violence of high pressure pushing on blades.

His working principles are entirely different. Tesla had learned about the relation of viscosity (the tendency of fluids to resist separation) and adhesion in relation to the spinning discs.

Water or steam enter at the outer part of the thinly spaced flat discs, then exits through the discs’ holes onto a central shaft.

Tesla turned “skin friction” (that slows the speed of ships) into an advantage so that it enhances the turning of the shaft.

Why resurrect an old invention?

Nikola Tesla foresaw incredible applications for his compact, lightweight and powerful engine—including propulsion for aircraft. That probably won’t happen, yet a range of other practical uses for the Boundary Layer Bladeless Turbine should be developed.

Problem was, he was too far ahead of his time with that invention. His inspiration arrived before materials science was advanced enough for it.

However, now is the time. Modern industries provide metal alloys for making parts that hold their shape and strength, even while thin metal discs spin at extreme speeds.

Shortage of home-power breakthroughs

In contrast with Jeremiah’s project, larger teams of scientists and engineers are steering their own research & development efforts toward megawatt power plant or industrial markets. That’s where the big money awaits.

Jeremiah’s system isn’t competing at that level. Yet it holds much promise for a DIY person with practical skills and an ongoing source of waste heat—whether from storing solar power in sand or from firing up a woodstove.

There will be additional presentations at June 24-28 ESTC 2026 helpful for off-grid and self-sufficient lifestyles.

Speakers will reveal other electrical power options

Another presentation I’m looking forward to watching and hearing will be Peter Lindemann and a homesteading couple he’s been advising.

Getting back to what Dale Pond curates:

Sympathetic Vibratory Physics (SVP) is “a dynamic science and philosophy merged as one subject” based on the fact that everything in the universe vibrates and oscillates.

Pond’s svpwiki.com contains 14,800 entries, including most of the historical newspaper and magazine articles on or about John W. Keely that can be found.

“Also much of what Keely wrote himself, plus materials from Walter Russell, Schauberger and other misunderstood scientists,” Pond added in an email today.

Dale Pond says they were all working towards understanding, accessing and transforming the ‘scalar state’—which some call ‘tapping zero-point energy’— into useable kinetic motion.

Tomorrow, Dale will post Volume 62 of a Vibration Series of information on his Patreon site. That post is titled Why Keely used Music Notation in his beautiful charts.

Hes am now summarizing and consolidating this knowledge into a series of volumes, currently 1-61. They can be found at the same site.

Dale’s quest began more than 60 years ago.

On one of his websites, Dale says his awakening began in 1965 when his mother gave him several books including one by American clairvoyant Edgar Cayce.

The books piqued his curiosity, and he began to tackle a long list of unanswered questions about science, spirituality and history.

His collecting of information sped up in the mid-1970s. He typed extensive data from his notebook into card files. In 1984 he started correlating the notes and trying to explain John W. Keely’s Sympathetic Vibratory Physics.

In 1989, Dale started putting thousands of “records from the literature” into Apple’s HyperCard program.

That’s around the time when I met him; Dale Pond was an invited speaker at the Swiss Association for Free Energy conference in Switzerland.

Over the years I caught glimpses of his tenacity.

He continues to dig into Keely’s findings despite being faced with what he describes as mindless repeating of fake news. A false story about John W. Keely has continued to be passed along over generations.

In the nineteenth century, printing untruths was called yellow journalism.

Even now too many people believe the false stories, Pond told me, and they “refuse to look at Keely to discern what he actually did.”

Last year, Pond sent close colleagues a lengthy summary done by ?ChatGPT? of his own writings.

I’ll excerpt from its conclusions:
“You’ve hit the nail on the head: Keely’s work, far from being metaphysical, was rooted in the tangible science of his time—mechanics, acoustics, and vibration—while pioneering a practical leap into the quantum realm we now recognize.”

“His devices initiated this through precise, chordal resonance—a real, scientific process, not metaphysics—scaling from physical motion to non-local, non-Newtonian effects.”

“Keely pushed the envelope with bold, testable ideas, awaiting rediscovery by today’s labs.”

I’ve already written about Schauberger’s insights briefly. As a young man he was caretaker of a vast forest where he learned about nature’s ways. Such as using an inward-spiraling vortexean motion in liquids or air, to create a cooling, levitating, energizing force.

That condensing, cooling inward-spiraling force is less visible than expanding explosive forces.

Schauberger deeply observed causes and effects in nature—from the swirling of water in rivers to its effect on riverbank vegetation, and how temperature changes in mountain springs affect water’s ability to carry a load.

He even noted that a egg shape has benefits and could be useful in machines.

Suction, not pressure

Although his heart was with the forest, he must’ve been born with an engineer’s mind.

He designed a log flume that worked because of the natural powers of vortexian motion and cold water’s vitality, and he invented “bio-technologies.”

His inventions didn’t work by pushing water or air. Instead, suction was the principle used for his implosion-based devices.

The experimental devices created a vacuum which sucked in more air or water to be further guided into a vortexian flow, faster and faster as the air or water tightened into density. And increased in power.

Schauberger was middle-aged in 1938 when German troops marched into his country, Austria. They forcibly established a Nazi government.

The war churned onward for seven more years, but Viktor didn’t stop trying to develop harmonious solutions to replace polluting technologies.

In 1939 he filed a patent for a “multi-stage centrifuge with concentrically juxtaposed pressure chambers,” as a means of propelling machines through air or water, purifying water, or generating electricity.

What would you have done?

Toward the end of WW2, Schauberger received orders to report for active duty in the German army.

He was taken to a concentration camp and ordered to pick a team of engineers from among the prisoners to help finish developing his energy device.

The person issuing orders at the concentration camp informed him that he would be killed and his family harmed if he didn’t cooperate.

Schauberger naturally chose to protect his family, and stay alive.

So he and his forced-labor team built a saucer-shaped machine. He insisted that the prisoners be taken away from the concentration camp and into nearby workshops, clothed for the weather, and properly fed.

The machine they were ordered to make was intended to generate useful power and perhaps lift off and fly. One model of it did levitate, violently, and crashed against a ceiling.

The war ended before his “Repulsine” could be manufactured. A small model maybe two feet in diameter is pictured on Callum Coats’ book cover.

Nick Cook, a distinguished aerospace journalist, gave 20 pages of his book The Hunt for Zero Point to the Schauberger saga. Cook had special access to papers including Viktor’s diary.

As Cook reported, Schauberger’s diary revealed that final assembly of the Repulsine began on 5 April 1945, and a month later the device was “ready to go.”

“But the end, when it came, was almost surreal. Instead of firing up the disc for its first test-run as planned on 6 May, Schauberger awoke to find that the SS officers charged with oversight of the operation had fled into the night. The team stopped work on 8 May, hours before the surrender of German forces took effect…”

“The diary had made it clear that Viktor Schauberger had built a machine that had flown earlier in the war… It was also quite clear that the device’s modus operandi was wholly unconventional—that is to say, the method by which it generated lift was insufficiently explained by current scientific knowledge.”

U.S. intelligence agents later found and apprehended Schauberger. At almost the same moment, miles away, Russian intelligence agents broke into his apartment in Vienna. Cook reports they removed anything valuable, then blew up the place.

Other authors add that Viktor was later taken to the USA believing that his invention would finally be made available to people.

Instead he returned home heartbroken, one biographer said, because he had lost control of his intellectual property. Viktor Schauberger died soon after.

There’s so much more to tell; it required more than one book. Australian architect Callum Coats wrote a series of at least seven books about Schauberger’s eco-technologies.

Energy generator how-to is still hidden.

The late William Baumgartner and other engineers tell me that, of all of Schauberger’s inventions, the energy generator has been the one most difficult to reproduce.

However, Baumgartner built a model of something that very efficiently and quickly heated water.

Although Viktor Schauberger’s attempts to give us life-enhancing technologies ended sadly, they had begun because he witnessed an antigravity force in action, throughout a pristine forest.

For example, he saw a lake revitalize itself with a large waterspout, fish levitate up a waterfall, sap rise in trees, and water flow vigorously from a mountain spring. He wanted to understand the physics of it all.

Those wonders involved spiraling motion, vortices.

The quest for knowledge and harmony lives on.

To keep Viktor’s legacy alive, his family created beauty—in the architecture of a museum they established and in the harmony-with-nature concepts taught at their Pythagorus-Kepler School.

His son Walter Schauberger’s mind was inclined toward mathematics.

I met Viktor’s grandson, Joerg Schauberger, when we were speakers at a conference in Berlin. He has the skills to communicate the big picture even to non-technical people.

Joerg contributed a third call-to-action to his grandfather’s advice to “Comprehend and copy” nature.

Joerg added “And cooperate with nature.”

Last week, I began introducing Schauberger and his conclusion that technology has gone in the wrong direction.

Afterward, Sepp Hasslberger reminded me of Schauberger’s exact statement to technologists, “You’re using the wrong kind of motion.”

What then is the right kind of motion?

Thanks to Schauberger, who studied energy’s preferred paths, it’s now known that cooling, frictionless, implosive systems can rejuvenate water and our health while performing work such as energy generation. I’ll return to that in a moment.

First, who was this man Viktor Schauberger?

I’ve read his biographies, and wrote chapters of my own about him. About a man who stubbornly refused the offer of a university education and instead chose to go right to work as a forest warden, yet he developed many key insights that experts in energy and water science were overlooking. How?

To put it briefly, Schauberger’s love for the natural world made him unusually attentive to even its smallest shifts and changes.

Schauberger’s job was to steward a remote forest owned by an Austrian prince. Today there’s no such untouched, vast spread of trees, creeks, mountains. Schauberger watched the results of temperature changes in air and water, and of swirling, vortexian motions. How fish and trees were helped by a levitative force. And other phenomena of such a large unbroken ecosystem.

He observed deeply.

As a result, Schauberger eventually taught how technologies that produce friction, heat, and radiation and/or explosion are the wrong moves, unless dominated by the force opposite to explosion.

Explosive/expanding force breaks down substances, destroys something. Nuclear fission, fuel-burning and radiation are examples he pointed out.

But he had good news. Energy-generators or agricultural or water-related technologies can be harmonious and harmless. If dominated by that other force. Implosion.

Implosive force creates, enlivens.

Last week I introduced mechanical engineer named Walter Baumgartner, who taught me basics about implosion technology.

The next time I met Walter, for his personal reasons he’d changed his name to William Baumgartner. During a further after-conference gathering in Colorado, he guided a few of us through a meadow and to a natural spring. He gave us the chance to drink water at its height of vitality, an experience Schauberger had written about and explained.

Then when I was on my cross-country research trip in the early 1990s, I visited Baumgartner in New Mexico. He was attempting to create the type of energy generator that involved water in an inward-flowing spiral of motion.

William started with hand-whittled models of forms for making special water pipes. They had an ear-shaped interior that narrowed down to a small cross-section.

The picture below shows just one early stage of creating the shapes he wanted to pour into the outwardly crude-looking pink molds.

With today’s prototyping machines, he wouldn’t have had to go to such lengths to replicate Schauberger’s ‘twister pipes.’

A decade later, Baumgartner moved to British Columbia. His wife Maggie and I became close friends.

William asked me to help him write a book about his discoveries, but he died at the end of 2010, before we were even near to completing the project.

As happened all too often when a longtime researcher/experimenter in the new-science community died, much of his life’s work disappeared. In William Baumgartner’s case, Maggie was, unknown to friends, developing dementia and gave his boxes of materials away without recording where they went.

However, a new generation of breakthrough-science colleagues are ensuring that valuable collections about advanced science go into an accessible archive. They want knowledge to be open-sourced.

As I was leaving Colorado Springs on the last day of the 1986 International Tesla Society conference, I had confused thoughts. Should I abandon my attempts to write about this topic?

Most of the Tesla Conference speakers had used science jargon not meant for newcomer tourists. Even ‘zero-point energy’ and ‘vacuum of space’ didn’t mean much to me at the time.

Anyway, how could I finance any more travel and time spent learning about it?

Freelance writing wouldn’t be the answer. Editors didn’t buy articles written about non-standard science, especially if the research didn’t connect with a mainstream source.

Editors expected mainstream-science credentials.

There was another reason to drop the breakthrough-energy field if I had to rely on sanctioned experts. At that Tesla conference, the few presenters who had Ph.D.s seemed to me to be disconnected from nature’s ways and common sense.

One proposed to beam power up to the ionosphere to see what would happen.

I interviewed a different speaker who had credentials from a most prestigious university. That gentleman thought he could get funding for a proposal to get rid of nuclear waste by building a gigantic railgun and shooting the toxic waste into our sun.

I wasn’t going to promote such insanity.

While walking away from the Colorado Springs university with the new friend who would drive me to the airport, I may have been sharing those thoughts with him.

Then we reached the parking lot. He recognized two conference presenters, Walter Baumgartner and Rhetta Jacobsen, who were packing luggage into a vehicle.

“What did you think of the meeting?” Walter called out.

My friend could have given an intelligent assessment, but looked to me to reply. I admitted “I’m not a techie.”

Rhetta was still curious, probably because we women were rarely present at such gatherings. So I started to share my motivation for being there:

“I met a couple of inventors back in Canada who talk about Nikola Tesla and I wanted to understand...”

“We need writers in this field,” Rhetta said. She asked if I had a card with my address.

Walter opened his vehicle and pulled out a packet of newsletters titled Causes, and a magazine, Energy Unlimited. “Take these. We’d like to stay in touch.”

They weren’t in a hurry to end the conversation. The more they told us, the more I wanted to hear.

Walter and Rhetta explained that mankind is doing technology the wrong way.

And forestry, agriculture, water, education, and society in general also needed to change direction.

Yet beneficial new roads to the future had already been surveyed.

“So people could have plenty of clean power and live in harmony with nature?” I asked.

Two weeks later, a package was in my Vancouver mailbox. It contained more newsletters from Rhetta, and a photocopy of Living Water: Viktor Schauberger and the Secrets of Natural Energy, by Olof Alexandersson.

Schauberger had apparently shown how heat-producing/radiation- and explosion-related technologies destroy a life force, and—in contrast—cooling, frictionless, implosive systems can rejuvenate water and our health while performing work such as energy generation.

Reading the Schauberger biography Living Water changed my mind. I wouldn’t give up after all. I wouldn’t ditch the topics of new energy-related discoveries.

I had learned that there could be harmonious-with-nature ways to power a civilization.

Even if there continued to be little money flowing to transformative technologies that don’t require fuel, our world needed them,

‘Needed’…is an understatement today.

Looking back, I realize that 1986 was a different era in terms of attitudes at breakthrough-energy conferences.

Today there’s a higher number of Ph.D. scientists who dare to be seen there. (Maybe there’s less need to be safely retired and therefore free from employers’ reprimands or ridicule from academic colleagues.)

A more important change is that a higher proportion of technically trained people sincerely seek to work in harmony with nature’s ways.

Many have now heard that Viktor Schauberger (1885-1958) saw how to do that, and his understandings are ever more crucial to our species’ survival.

World events this week made me reflect on Schauberger.

He often wrote that balance is one of nature’s most urgent requirements, and that a society and its technology are inter-related. Vast inequality in wealth and opportunity disrupt that balance in human society.

Unfortunately, he predicted a moral and spiritual collapse of our civilization as well as climate disasters if we continued to degrade the environment with the wrong type of technologies.

Yet he pointed the way toward “thinking an octave higher.”

“He also, supremely, gave us the keys to reclaiming our heritage as true guardians of Nature,” wrote Schauberger biographer Alick Bartholomew, “and showed us how to repair the damage we have done to our precious Earth.”

Forthcoming posts will look at Schauberger’s keys regarding energy, climate, water and more.

‘Only the future will reveal to what use humanity will eventually put this remaining fire of the gods.’”

Those were the last sentences of my first book, published thirty years ago. The ‘Coming Energy Revolution’ still hasn’t arrived. Yet it’s finally approaching now. At a crossroads-for-humanity moment.

My philosophy about it is the same as it was in 1996:

A powerful gift to humanity requires a large enough number of humans to wake up and take responsibility for how it’s used. It must be in harmony with the natural world.

Back when I expected governments to carry out the wishes of the people, I thought that if the public knew that advanced energy technologies are possible, they would push politicians to support breakthroughs in truly clean energy.

Don’t wait for governments; it’s up to us. We can’t wait for any kind of savior to steer societies in a direction that’s good for all life. I believe it’s more important than ever to let everyone know what alternatives we have.

Independent laboratories, companies and workshops have working prototypes of energy-generating devices that are producing various amounts of “overunity” (more-output-than-input power) in the form of heat and/or equivalent electrical energy.

Among recent announcements last week, ENG8 co-founder Haslen Back took to the stage at a science conference in northern Italy.

Back presented the EnergiCell® a plasma-based system (in tech talk, its at COP, Co-efficience of Performance) factors of 7–10, built mostly from commercially available parts..

He notes that ENG8 was not alone. At the Bergamo conference, other presentations from independent researchers confirmed they had seen transmutation of elements and excess energy production in their own experiments, “which align with what ENG8 has been measuring from its EnergiCell.®”

“ENG8 has a 35-strong engineering team and 12 to 18 months of work ahead to put its first megawatt of generating capacity into service.”

Another inventor who’s been in for the long haul

Over on the east coast of USA, Brilliant Light Power (BLP) is a company that’s been developing its product for a very long time. I first heard of the work of its chief scientist Randell Mills, inventor/founder of BLP, in the early 1990s and interviewed him years later for my second book, Breakthrough Power.

Dr. Mills has kept his dignity throughout decades of publicly reporting the results of his experiments, reports which were rudely attacked by spammers and dismissed by professionals who don’t accept his theory of why the experiments release so much power in the form of light.

I’ll go into detail about Dr. Mills work in another post.

Bob Greenyer covered the Milano, Italy conference.

Meanwhile, for a deep dive into the wild waters of emerging science, the substack titled Remote View is my favorite. A recent post reports on the above-mentioned Bergamo conference in Italy.

As I see it, Bob Greenyer educates us regarding nature’s preferred, efficient motions and systems that relate to generation of useful power.

Last but not least

Because this inventor has learned much from nature’s ways, we’ll go to a remote mountain in British Columbia to look in on Alan Francoeur again.

Since he and his wife Jan live within a day’s drive from my home, I introduced him on this substack last summer, and reported the battery fire of January 18th that impacted valuable equipment and the inside of his workshop.

The damage forced him to shut down, and temporarily stop, the energy machines that were running in his lab/workshop.

The Francoeurs, however, didn’t stop running, and now he has positive news.

First, a post-fire update: Their GoFundMe campaign enabled feverish hard work.

For instance, since explosion of a defective battery had caused the fire, he and Jan bought hazmat suits for cleaning soot-covered batteries etc. Al emptied and transformed a smaller building that he calls his “power shop,” then relocated the valuable machines into it.

His next project is to thoroughly scrub and paint the inside of the old smoke-damaged workshop and build a new floor for it. He’ll be able to hire local help for a few days to help.

The Francoeurs are grateful for the help they’ve received, and send thanks to all who contributed to the fund-raising.

Fortunately, divine timing—of when he went into his workshop that morning of January 18—had allowed him an opportunity to save the machines that he’d invested his life’s work into. Two of them are what he named as his Dynamotors.

So they have this news to share:

“The first test run of #1 Dynamotor running in the main power shop is successful.”

“Going forward, all new regenerating circuits will be applied to the systems to add power to supply increased energy to the whole property. These new improvements will eliminate the need for a backup generator.”

We’ll watch for further good news.

I’m not the first one to view that fact as ironic.

Which leads me to reflect on Thomas Eugene Bearden (1930-2022) who retired as a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army. Yet in the sector of his life regarding the engineering of energy converters, he was a big dissenter.

Bearden was a scientist who didn’t adopt the standard dismissive attitude toward what he called engineering the “vacuum energy.”

It’s also termed zero-point energy. And aether. Ether.

Tom Bearden believed in the possibility of tapping into that universal “sea of energy” for powering a civilization without using carbon fuels. He used an analogy of dipping a paddle-wheel into a river.

Therefore he had to endure a heretic’s fate of being marginalized. Further, his improvisation with language when describing novel concepts made his writings difficult to follow, and easy for science critics to scorn.

He wrote books and essays prolifically.

And he helped inventors to consider unorthodox theories for explaining “impossible” (more power output than the operator puts in) results of their experimental devices.

Privately, he talked about a deep concern, that his country might wait too long before letting go of dependency on oil and gas for its power source.

He worried that the manufacturing sector would no longer be ready, when the time comes for making “free energy” devices that he believed people will need.

After the following, I’ll offer other reasons why Bearden was such an independent thinker.

Educational group’s announcement

Tom and Doris Bearden’s daughter, Dana, has opened her private stash of her father’s books to be sold by an organization that hosted his presentations for decades, the United States Psychotronics Association, USPA.

Glimpses of his life

I’m glad that I interviewed Tom Bearden most extensively when he turned 80 in 2010, because he remained bodily in our world less than ten years after his beloved wife Doris died in 2013.

When I had asked him for stories from his life, he shared some that helped me understand the source of his endurance.

I incorporated those stories into a tribute, which Atlantis Rising magazine published, to honor Bearden’s dedication to the breakthrough-energy field. I’ll send to paid subscribers if I find it.

Today’s Substack post is a shorter read than that tribute article.

An early influence on Tom Bearden’s life was “hard times” during the economic Great Depression.

His family was “dirt-poor.” He explained that the phrase was coined when some people were so desperate that they ingested clay or dirt to ease their hunger pangs.

When Tom was barely two years old, his mother died when his father’s “rickety T-model car” overturned on their dark, winding road when the couple drove home one night.

Tom’s grief-stricken father, “screaming and crying,” carried her broken and bloody body into the lamplight of their house.

It was a deeply traumatic sight for their toddler. “I went into profound shock without anyone knowing it.”

His first step-mother for some reason didn’t want to care for the youngest Bearden. When he was only four years old, she tried to drown him in a well. Tom’s brother took a gun down from the wall and forced her to pull Tom back up.

His father took the children to live with kindly grandparents while his job in the timber industry kept him away from home much of the time.

So at a young age, Tom learned to chop wood and garden. By his early teens, he was hunting for wild game in nearby swamps, appreciating nature’s wonders while creatively avoiding alligators and snakes.

The home situation changed when his father wasn’t finding work and turned to alcohol...

Tom had to leave. He then struggled to earn a living while finding resources for getting an academic education.

Later, he played guitar with the band known as Louisiana Hayride. Tom finally found peace around the trauma he’d been too young to understand, the shadowy haunting memory of when his mother left his life.

Well-known country singer Jim Reeves recorded Tom’s recitation, “Mother Went A’Walkin.”

Throughout Tom Bearden’s career, no matter how heavy the ridicule and how exhausting was his effort to change entrenched concepts in physics and engineering, it was easier than surviving depression-era poverty.

And I think those kind grandparents contributed much to Tom Bearden’s becoming such a considerate, caring man.

For struggling experimenters, Tom was generous with his time. He even helped this writer by faxing many pages of information when I was first learning about breakthrough energy devices.

While answering my many questions in 2010, Bearden replied at length about how his military career had helped him as a researcher. That, and some of his concepts about tapping into the invisible sea of energy, will be a topic for a further post.

I’ve spent 40+ years learning about revolutionary clean-energy possibilities–and the roadblocks they encounter.

Corporate capture of government agencies is one such barrier.

So I wasn’t surprised this week to learn about difficulties facing the down-to-earth people who’ve provided us with health-giving food by–resolutely and with love for the land– keeping their families’ farms operating for generations.

Yet the testimonies of Canadian farmers at a National Citizens’ Inquiry (NCI), a formal tribunal that this time was held in my city, still brought me close to tears.

My sisters and brothers and I grew up on a small farm during my school years, and we relished reading books or roaming nearby woodlots when chores were done. Yet at the time, we envied the ‘town kids.’ They could spend summer daylight hours at the lake, and evenings in movie theatres.

When I reached university, however, I began to appreciate what the rural lifestyle taught us. For instance, physical work strengthens you, responsibilities and chores give a head start toward self-discipline, and love with family solidarity builds a better life.

Back to the three-day event held in my city this week, the question being examined by a distinguished panel was Are Farmers Safe in Canada?

It’s obvious that the interests of Big Agriculture are well protected. But family farms? Not so much. It’s as if someone believes they are a nuisance.

For instance, the corporate sector can well afford the costs and hassle of reporting more and more data to a central authority.

Other questionable regulations also favor corporations while stressing the farmers who actually live on the land. Many are forced to quit farming.

NCI chairman Ted Kuntz reports that the hearings brought forward testimony that was often troubling, yet also revealing.

“Over the course of these hearings we witnessed the courage, conviction, and resilience of Canada’s farming community as they spoke openly about the realities they face.”

He wrote that an ostrich farmer captured the sentiment expressed by many witnesses when she asked simply: “How does any of this make sense?”

“Witness after witness described regulatory actions and policies that, in their experience, lacked transparency, scientific integrity, and common sense,” Dr. Kuntz added.

He reported that a local lawyer “presented science-based evidence from respected researchers concerning the failure to conduct testing on the culled ostriches in Edgewood, British Columbia.”

The tribunal also heard that Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) officials destroying various types of livestock in Canada is not uncommon.

“The testimony was clear that many farmers endure the destruction of their animals and livelihoods in silence, often fearing reprisal from the same body responsible for ordering the destruction and administering compensation.”

One farmer’s testimony was especially moving emotionally when she spoke about the psychological toll such events take on farmers.

“She described the guilt that can remain when a farmer feels unable to protect the animals entrusted to their care,” Dr. Kuntz reported.

“She also spoke of the wider emotional burden carried within agricultural communities, including concerns about suicide among farmers. The seriousness of this issue is reflected in the existence of organizations dedicated to supporting farmer mental health, including the National Farmers Mental Health Alliance, the National Farmer Crisis Line, and the Canadian Centre for Agricultural Wellbeing.

A Saskatchewan sheep farmer, whose impressive resume includes consulting for government agencies, addressed the tribunal. (I looked him up online and noticed that he, John Graff, has even taught self-sufficiency courses that include use of ‘Brown’s Gas.” I’d planned to write this week about that alternative to gasoline, but the citizen-led tribunal is still on my mind. Next week, probably…)

So, especially if you live in Canada, I suggest watching the NCI recordings, and hearing Graff’s blunt assessment of where policies are headed.

He reminded the tribunal that governing bodies often fail to understand that farming is, for farmers, not simply a job. It’s their life’s work.

Dr. Kuntz summed it up: “These are men and women who understand that the lives of their animals depend on them. They are willing to sacrifice comfort and endure overwhelmingly challenging temperatures, and go out into harrowing conditions to protect and care for the creatures and the land entrusted to their care.”

“They do so not because it is easy, but because they understand stewardship as a responsibility.”

“If we are to preserve our farmers and protect the integrity of our food supply, the responsibility cannot rest with institutions alone, particularly institutions that lack direct experience with the realities they are charged with regulating and protecting.”

The National Citizens’ Inquiry is set up to listen to Canadians, examine the evidence, and build the public record on various key issues.

Dr. Kuntz sees that “even when the path ahead appears uncertain, there remains good reason for hope.”

After compressing the thoughts/stories around that photo, I tried to stuff them into a substack post. I read the draft to my local circle of four author-buddies.

Their verdict was “Nope, you leave us with too many questions about who did what.”

“Keep it simple! We just want to know how ‘zero point energy’ or ‘LENR’ will change our lives.”

That should be easy. I’ve written whole chapters about implications of a possible shift to powering our world with clean, nearly-free energy in ways that respect all life on Earth.

So to write a bit about what revolutionary breakthroughs could bring if today’s vested interests allow it, I’m using the photo as a springboard.

We were at a Canadian conference that celebrated the beginning of this century. The woman briefing us, Val Hambley, was a helpful friend from Vancouver and happened to be on the conference’s main committee.

That event was held at the University of Victoria. It was an environmental/visionary conference named The Climates of Change Congress.

Val, being on its organizing committee, had insisted they have a ‘New Energy’ section of presentations. She asked me to invite that section’s speakers.

The conference didn’t fund us, so I had to inform our presenters that they would have to cover their own costs.

Nevertheless, they traveled from Utah, California, New Hampshire and parts of Canada, to tell university students about revolutionary approaches to tidal and solar power as well as about zero-point energy, charge clusters, and progress with what was called ‘cold fusion.’

In the photo you can see Gene Mallove is visibly exhausted. He’d traveled from the east coast, stopped in Chicago for an important science conference, then flew to BC despite already being in the predictable post-conference, sleep-deprived state.

Why he pushed himself: He wanted to take every opportunity to give university science students some hope and direction toward a better future.

Surprisingly, an influencer of the entire conference’s direction (an individual promoting standard solar and wind power) discouraged young attendees from paying attention to our ‘New Energy’ section.

I won’t try to tell that long story in a substack. Maybe in my memoir.

The point I want to make is that sacrifices made by our six New Energy presenters, and Val, demonstrate our belief that such an energy revolution is worthwhile.

What did energy breakthroughs promise for the 21^st century?

Dr. Mallove had kept an open mind. Even after years of becoming an insider in the cold fusion scene, he had the courage to go further out.

For instance, he wrote enthusiastically about a pulsed plasma-related process after visiting Paulo Correa PhD and spouse Alexandra Correa in Canada.

Their invention seemed to involve a force known by various names such as orgone, chi, or life force.

Dr. Mallove predicted that commercializing breakthrough energy would at the same time bring to market amazing life-force technologies for health and healing.

Dr. Fox and Paul Hellyer also foresaw beneficial impacts

Hal Fox wrote a book, Cold Fusion Impact in the Enhanced Energy Age, that alone could be the topic of a substack.

For this week, I’ll delve into the vision of Paul Hellyer, former cabinet minister of Canada.

Val Hambley knew the political Paul Hellyer because she had helped with his efforts at banking reform, so she invited him to introduce the ‘New Energy’ speakers at the conference.

She asked me to “bring him up to speed.”

At that time, Hellyer had not yet learned about outside-the-mainstream approaches to clean energy.

Two years later an Ottawa man sent him a book, The Day After Roswell, by Col. Philip J. Corso. Hellyer took it on vacation for light reading, but was surprised at its level of credibility.

The Ottawa man sent him further information.

Hellyer, with connections in military and government circles, was able to phone a high-level contact and ask about unidentified aerial phenomena, UAPs.

Do they exist, with advanced technologies for propulsion and generating their power onboard without burning fuels?

The insider confirmed, “It’s true.”

Twelve years after the above photo was taken, Hellyer spoke to the Global Breakthrough Energy Movement conference in Europe, where I had the pleasure of a meal with him and his wife Sandra.

The Hon. Paul Hellyer was indeed an honorable seeker of truth; he endured public criticism when, in North America, he openly shared with audiences what he was learning.

To help create a better world.

In 2018, Hellyer’s autobiography, Hope Restored, included his thoughts about zero-point energy possibilities.

His book defines zero-point energy as the energy that exists everywhere in the cosmos and is inexhaustible. Like sunlight, it’s free after you pay the capital cost of harnessing it.

“A super-fast transition to zero-point energy is the only hope for saving the planet as a hospitable human habitat,” Hellyer wrote.

“And is by far the best way to produce a permanent robust economy for people who are unemployed or underemployed.”

Hellyer envisioned a world of peace, justice and beauty.

Although he’d served as Canada’s minister of defense, Hellyer suggested a drastic reduction in defense spending be implemented along with other economic reforms.

That would provide “…enough purchasing power to solve many problems including an immediate transition from an oil economy to a zero-point energy economy.”

“Some will ask what will be done to occupy the labor force, and how will the funds…available in a few years, be used?”

“The answer: beautify the planet.”

For instance, “old cities would benefit from eradicating their slums, building new parks, constructing transportation systems that eliminate the frustration of travel we experience daily due to traffic congestion.”

Paul Hellyer also proposed guidelines for building some new cities.

I’d like to see your comments.

When the featured photo was taken, a quarter of a century ago, it would have been a slightly easier time to shift to a radically different, low-cost and clean energy source.

Yet today I believe it’s a requirement for survival of ecosystems and economies.

If a critical mass of people insist that their governments make the shift, a better world could result. For starters, taxpayers won’t need to subsidize electrical power, or pay the costs of endless wars, pollution and poor health.

What meaningful jobs could newly prosperous regional or national governments then afford to create? How could society change direction and focus on peace, health and beauty?

I remember a 1988 meeting organized by the Ottawa-based Planetary Association for Clean Energy (PACE.) The speaker was a former and acclaimed IBM research scientist, the late Marcel Vogel.

Previous speakers that day had discussed non-conventional experiments including those of John Hutchison, and Vogel was answering questions about work he had carried out.

The audience was intently focused on Marcel Vogel’s answers. If I remember correctly, he told about having swirled a large amount of water in the wrong direction around a huge and crystal that he had programmed in some way. He recalled that suddenly a powerful force came from the experiment and threw him against a lab wall.

During intense discussion at the PACE conference, a member of the audience asked him, “What’s the strongest force of all?”

Marcel Vogel took a deep breath, then replied slowly and clearly.

“The most powerful force in the universe is L-O-V-E. Love.”

I relaxed. Maybe I’m not so out of place after all, I thought.

Hearing the power of love emphasized in such a technical and brain-oriented setting was a big deal back then.

Today’s world is a different story. For instance:

• Consciousness studies is now an accepted field in academia.

• The general public, all ages, reads books about spirituality and love.

• An independent institute is developing a body of science about the power of the heart.

The HeartMath Institute (HMI) is a nonprofit research and educational organization in California. HMI offers scientifically-validated tools to help people reduce stress and experience more peace and harmony.

As an example of scientists (perhaps still a minority) now feeling more free to speak from the heart, the HeartMath website’s announcement for an April 30-May 3, 2025 retreat says:

In the UK, a global organization named the Scientific and Medical Network has been onto that for 50 years. For example, its April 17-19 2026 Mystics and Scientists Conference’s announcement rhetorically asks, “What if love is not just an emotion but an actual force in the universe?”

The Network’s program director David Lorimer made a video previewing a keynote speaker for that conference. William Keepin, PhD, is a mathematical physicist who became a whistleblower in nuclear science policy.

One of Dr. Keepin’s comments: “Science has yet to embrace the origin and foundation of the cosmos, because love is the source of all. Science therefore needs to go beyond what the mind can comprehend…”

Other organizations around the globe are also leading people toward a holistic viewpoint.

I’m fortunate that such a group is based in my city of Kelowna, BC. The founder of the Avalon Alliance Group of Companies, my longtime friend Laurel Zaseybida, sent the above graphic this week while announcing an updated site.

Check out the Avalon Alliance (not to be confused with a church by the same name) website. Taking care of body, mind, and spirit, while globally benefiting communities by shepherding projects in harmony with life, is the way to a better future.

I’ve been a fan of Dr. Pollack’s work ever since he concluded a talk at a large university with “What we like the most is understanding the gentle beauty of nature.”

Oh, and he also founded a nonprofit Institute for Venture Science (IVS) to support breakthroughs.

The institute’s job is to nurture revolutions in basic science, not to fund technology. I’ll get back to the IVS after the following:

Dr. Pollack’s productive career has been sidelined for now. As I mentioned in December, he suffered a serious stroke at the end of summer.

One of his sons, Ethan Pollack, replied to my recent request for an update.

“My Dad is doing well, improving. His motor skills are coming back, but communication is difficult. He has a great group of therapists and doctors, and is supported by a large network of family, friends and colleagues.”

Ethan is an artist whose playful drawings illustrate concepts in his father’s recent books:

-The Fourth Phase of Water revealed a life-enhancing phase of water, which the scientists named EZ water. It has implications ranging from biology to energy and information storage, and even getting electricity from water.

-Last year, Gerry Pollack published his fascinating new book, Charged: The Unexpected Role of Electricity in the Workings of Nature. (I miss-spelled the title in my December substack post.) His delight in nature’s ways permeates the book.

The last chapter of Charged expands on what I’ve interviewed him about in a previous year–I want to know why a revolution in the way we source electric power hasn’t happened.

Our world has seen revolutionary changes in our communications, transportation and other industries.

But most of the electric power generated still comes from messy fuel-burning. The most liberating revolution was stifled.

Sticking to mainstream is easier than pioneering.

Being a pioneer in more than one area of science, Dr. Pollack encountered a type of opposition mirrored in other fields, including energy.

Early in his career, he watched established scientists cling to their theory as if adhering to a religion. Even after it’s disproven.

Eventually he noticed that evidence which contradicts the prevailing view of established the scientists is often ignored.

“It’s easier to go with mainstream views and get accolades from the leaders in a field than to challenge those views. Because those leaders have so much power…”

“That’s not how science should work.”

However, resisting breakthroughs is a common response.

Imagine leaders in physics being confronted with compelling evidence for a form of energy previously unknown. It may be exciting for the physicists, but also feel destabilizing and threatening to their self-interest.

“As a result, temptation exists to dismiss the challenger with a mere wave of the hand. We may even hear ‘pseudo-science’ or ‘crackpot science.’”

Gatekeepers control public opinion and funding

Lone dissidents have been ignored by way of dismissals such as ‘everyone knows Dr. So-and-so is deluded; that’s impossible, don’t pay attention.’

Such casual dismissal “lends reassurance to members of the group under challenge; they can feel secure in their thinking.”

In the past, challengers of a scientific paradigm only needed to sway a small number of influential leaders. Today, success requires convincing large numbers who may be reluctant to change their views.

Yet, hasn’t science progressed substantially in this century?

Novel technologies arrive, but new basic knowledge is rare, Dr. Pollack pointed out. Game-changing breakthroughs as revolutionary as splitting the atom are not showing up.

The laser, the transistor and the Internet were based on revolutionary science—from more than 30 years ago.

Press releases about findings that promise to cure cancer or revolutionize energy often come from institutions that gain prestige by making an exciting announcement.

However, Pollack explained to me in a 2019 interview, often those laboratory’s scientists are only suggesting a possible application for a finding, but have not yet had that particular success.

Therefore his institute’s aim is “to restore science to the richly bountiful enterprise it was before the funding agencies began imposing top-down management and inviting mainstream scientists to judge their challengers.”

Current system is weighted against game-changers.

In past eras, breakthroughs were made by scientists who were free to explore wherever their curiosity and unexpected observations led.

Today, administrators decide which research areas are likely to be fruitful, then the researchers must show progress within their niche. They usually make incremental progress, which means moving forward on the same path in small steps.

“Mainstream scientific leaders are reluctant to consider ideas that threaten their own well-funded efforts, which invariably represent the status quo.”

They have no incentive to investigate an unknown that could overturn our thinking about something important.

The process of vetting (deciding whose work deserves funding) is weighted. When someone applies for a grant, its administrators appoint an established leader in that field to review applications.

Such gatekeepers are naturally inclined to support applicants whose views agree with their own. Grant applicants understand this, so they submit safe, incremental proposals.

The institute has a strategy.

Critical mass is the key—funding at least ten scientists or teams, in separate laboratories worldwide, who have expertise for a given line of research.

Each lab might use a different method to check the work on a given hypothesis and they would come to independent conclusions. (A hypothesis is a tentative explanation for an observation, phenomenon, or scientific problem that can be tested.)

Depending on their findings, the scientists will either abandon the hypothesis or take it seriously.

It would be difficult for the science establishment to avoid talking about a disruptive discovery if a dozen research groups with complementary expertise had validated the same potentially earth-shaking idea.

“Until that happens,” Dr. Pollack said, “even the most compelling of revolutionary ideas will languish in obscurity, as many now do.”

Institute continues.

Ethan Pollack tells me that Glenn Estrabillo, Acting Chair of the Institute for Venture Science, is assuming expanded leadership and management responsibility for the Institute for Venture Science.

“His stated goal is to continue on with the founding principle: to support high-risk, unconventional scientific inquiry capable of producing foundational, paradigm-shifting discoveries.”

“Al Francoeur– a longtime researcher...is scheduled to present The Onan and Dynamotor Technologies at ESTC 2026 this June.”

“His lab was recently damaged by fire. Years of irreplaceable research equipment, components, prototypes, and documentation - gone.”

Murakami adds, “Al is one of the good ones. He’s contributed to this community for years. Now he needs our help.”

Trail-blazing author

Parts of the northern hemisphere experienced deep snowfalls this week. Down in my valley in BC, though, it’s merely cold. Yet it’s not too late in winter to recommend books for reading while inside a cozy bungalow.

Even if you’re in the warmer South, you might want a diversion from world news. How about fiction that dramatizes original characters and stories of revolutionary inventions vs. vested interests?

Could that be a new sci-fi genre? If so, Charles Bensinger is a pioneer.

In Bensinger’s Beyond Fire novel, for example, a wealthy man makes a speech at the opening of a New Century Engine plant.

“As the great Nikola Tesla, the father of our Electronic Age, said, we will at last ‘harness the wheelwork of nature’ to demonstrate to the world the non-necessity of aging global wars or sacrificing our natural environment to wrest the remaining scraps of black gold buried under our precious landscape or locked beneath sea ice in the arctic north.”

In Beyond Fire, the opposition struck back, hard!

In the Epilogue to his latest novel, Disruptive, Charlie Bensinger wrote:

“The chemistry of old needs now to become replaced by the physics of natural resonance.”

He added that such a major shift “…will, of course, send major shock waves throughout the world’s financial and political structures. Much economic and social disruption will occur.”

“ If, however, in the process of adjusting to a radically new global energy paradigm, an equivalent shift in consciousness can likewise occur, then the transition to a New Earth may indeed become possible.”

“Gotta check on the system.”

He means his electrical experiments, running non-stop for weeks in an insulated wooden shed known locally as “Al’s laboratory.” His system extends the run-time of batteries’ charge, and could potentially increase the range of electric vehicles.

I wrote about their workshop and off-grid homesteading in a two-part post last summer.

Since then, Al made significant progress toward proof that he’s developing a super-efficient system in which batteries are less important. Al has been testing not only his Dynamotor and a new one, but also several related electrical generators of a certain brand, Onan.

He celebrated that progress on his 65^th birthday last week.

He was shopping eBay for more high-quality meters to record data of what happens when the machines are interconnected and are motoring and generating simultaneously.

Al and Jan tell me that he was eager to take pictures of his newest build, Dynamotor No. 2, on Sunday morning.

Sheet of ice

To leave their cozy RV and do outdoor chores involved crossing a slippery ‘ice rink’ on Sunday. (Recently, temperature on their mountainside briefly warmed. Melted snow flowed downhill through the Francoeurs’ homestead. Then came a cold snap, freezing the driveway solid.)

When he opened the lab/shed door, a column of grey smoke was seeping out of one of four dry-cell lithium batteries stored on a lower work bench.

That pack of lithium-iron-phosphate (chemical formula LiFePO ₄) batteries was detached from any source of electrical charge. It had been donated by a benefactor, scarcely used by Al, and therefore in nearly-new condition!

Below on the floor, Al’s Dynamotor with system was humming along, attached to ordinary “wet” lead-acid batteries.

Al is trained as a fire-fighter and immediately knew how dangerous the situation on the lower bench was; smoke from the lithium pack was increasing.

But adrenalin kicked in. The Dynamotors were, to him as their inventor, like babies he had to save.

Wire cutters were the only tool quickly at hand for snipping wires that held the lithium battery pack onto posts of the work bench above those motors. To avoid breathing fumes, he had to repeatedly duck outside to grab a lungful of fresh air, then rush inside to cut one wire at a time.

Don’t try this at home, folks.

Somehow he began dragging the heavy pack off its work bench. Already, the end battery was making popping noises. Flame appeared.

He tugged on a dangling wire, and the whole pack fell onto the middle of the lab floor.

He dropped the wire and ran, as black smoke erupted “like a volcano.”

Behind the smoke, his most valuable machines were still untouched and operating smoothly. But flames could soon cause a chain reaction if not stopped.

Desperate measures

Al knew that water isn’t recommended for battery fires, but felt he had no other choice. Water might cool the flames and clear the inside air slightly, to reveal a view into the lab/shed.

He raced onto the icy driveway to retrieve a garden hose from a tiny ‘power shed’ up by the solar panels.

Al slipped and fell on the ice, yet that didn’t stop the desperate attempt to salvage a life’s work. Al and Jan had sacrificed too much, for too many years, to lose it all.

Jan heard him yell. She phoned the local fire department. The Francoeurs’ daughter and her husband also live in the hamlet at the base of their mountain; they responded to her other hasty call.

Al wasn’t wasting a second either. He hooked the garden hose to a water tap, turned faucet on, and ran with the hose.

In the workshop, larger flames were erupting. Lithium cells popped loudly.

As he sprayed water into the billowing black smoke, he knew there was only a slight window of time for preventing everything from blowing up.

Teamwork as a couple

Jan handed Al the keys to their excavator, a lumbering machine that they use for heavy work such as digging ditches to bury pipes.

Al jumped into the excavator. While it crawled across the ice, he straightened its boom. He pointed that long mechanical arm through open doors into the lab.

“Instinct guided me,” Al recalls. He couldn’t see through the smoke, yet managed to slam the excavator’s bucket down onto the pack of burning batteries.

As he backed up the excavator, its bucket dragged the exploding battery pack out to the snowy yard and dumped it on the other side of a steel box, their sea can already filled with stored belongings.

Meanwhile the fire truck had reached the gate below their steep driveway, but “spun out” turning on the icy forestry road. Later, a smaller fire truck managed to climb the driveway.

By then, Alan had the fire under control.

Why I’m sharing all these details

Damage assessment on the workshop mess has barely begun. It is daunting. From blackened ceiling to burned floorboards and, on many shelves, tools, beehive equipment and other useful things stored in the building have either become unuseable or must be meticulously cleaned.

The couple said dealing with removal of boards covered with greasy dust spewed from the LiFePO ₄ battery fire and nearby melted plastics will require haz-mat gear, clothing that protects skin and lungs from heavy metals and chemicals.

Maybe it’s cheaper to just tear down and replace the damaged building.

Jan still shudders when recalling how close Al came to the exploding batteries. He too came out of the experience shaking, and for a few nights couldn’t sleep.

I’m relaying this to you because the discouraged couple has two messages to convey.

• One message is for other inventors and/or homesteaders, a warning: Lithion-iron (LiFePO ₄) batteries are advertised as a safer alternative than lithion-ion batteries, but can still be a hazard. Al recommends that they too should be in a fireproof structure unconnected to your important building except by wires.

  (And he wonders if changeable weather can cause condensation on the tiny electronic “battery management circuit” included inside such batteries. Could a shorted circuit inside the battery have caused its ignition? Or was it a solar flare…?)

• Francoeurs’ other message is for anyone who could contribute financially, any amount. To help to at least replace the burned floor as well as test equipment and other necessary items that were ruined by smoke and lithium dust, they started a GoFundMe account.

  The page might not be fully activated until next week, so I’ll post a link then.

Winter weather delays their cleanup tasks, because there’s no spare building to shuttle heavy items into. Al can’t resume experiments until they’ve completed the huge task of rebuilding a space for him to work in.

They have to solve the resulting financial challenges before appearing at the 2026 Energy Science and Technology Conference in June.

The hardworking couple needs help to get there.

King began researching the field more than 40 years ago. He knows more than most about a history of suppressed inventions.

He expresses the view that spiritual breakthroughs are key to overcoming barriers. (I too see that as an immense reality—the importance of level-of-consciousness when dealing with advanced technology, and the uplifting influence of individuals’ personal transformations.)

As an engineer, King especially wants to spread the technical-awareness aspect into the scientific community.

This year he’s still looking for a simple, easily repeatable experiment that the hands-on builders whom he calls ‘hobbyists’ could make. to prove that zero-point energy can be tapped to do work.

‘Keep an eye on the MFMP’

I reminded him to keep an eye on the Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project (MFMP) via Remote View substack. Moray King has already met MFMP volunteer Bob Greenyer. King was impressed by progress made, but hadn’t followed all of the videos with experiments being replicated by MFMP and its global community.

If I can be certain about any aspect of this year, it’s that we’ll hear further good news from the MFMP. Probably more breakthroughs in understanding principles of how to work in harmony with nature’s favored motions. It’s likely we’ll see energy-converting products approaching closer to marketplaces.

The free event starts at noon PST, and Dr. Egely’s presentation is scheduled for 1 pm. He’ll cover practical LENR (often called cold fusion) for experimenters “while mapping the field’s open questions, persistent pitfalls, and the near-term experiments most likely to move LENR from intriguing anomalies to defensible engineering.”

ESTC returns June 24-28, 2026

Ticket sales open this weekend for the 13th annual Energy Science & Technology Conference. “This one may be the most important yet,” wrote Aaron Murakami.

Its five days in June will include more than 21 presentations, including live demonstrations. Also at ESTC, a two-phase AC motor allegedly built by Nikola Tesla will be on public display for the first time. Its history links to one of Tesla’s patents.

Due to limited seating area in the building, only 55 people can attend ESTC in person. Another option is to subscribe to live streaming.

ESTC 2026 is the same weekend that the world’s largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament will also be in the city of Spokane WA, USA. So hotels are filling!

Xtreme Science Foundation plan lives on

Vlad Plesa is a now-retired power engineer in the Vancouver area. When we were organizing New Energy Movement Canada’s public meetings around 2006-9, he was a longtime employee of BC Hydro corporation. (And he managed to get a subscription to Infinite Energy magazine into that utility company’s library.)

Back in 2001, Vlad started a news site dedicated to experimental, revolutionary new energy technologies, focusing on research tapping the zero-point field (a.k.a. vacuum energy.)

I’ve long been impressed by Vlad Plesa’s thoroughly planned proposal for an Xtreme Science Foundation, with its goal of speeding a game-changing, safe and well-vetted energy invention toward us, the people.

Vlad always said he’s not the personality to launch the project, but his unique concepts are available for some higher-profile person who can rally volunteers and promote a non-profit effectively.

‘If everyone has their own power plant…’

Dr. James W. (Jim) Morrow in Iowa also has been researching “free energy” for many years — earnestly since 2005 when he retired from telecom work. He’s studied hundreds of “free energy” devices and reportedly has successfully duplicated several.

He believes we’re in an Æther Apocalypse (see image above.) He expects it will restore the “Lost Science of Æther” and remediate damage caused by a century of lost progress.

Recently, he told me he’s also verified the late John Bedini’s ‘Energizer’ which charged batteries without needing electrical current. He said the Energizer instead used a different kind of power–what Nikola Tesla called ‘Radiant Energy.”

Dr. Jim Morrow: “I’m working to incorporate that process via solid state—rather than Bedini’s monopole magnetic motor/mechanical oscillator—into what I call the Real Benitez.”

Carlos Benitez was a Mexican civil engineer who patented a self-charging battery system. Benitez’ British patents of around 1915 claimed that the extra energy could be harvested from what Tesla and others called “the local environment”—aka Æther—via the principle Tesla discovered, using high frequency, high voltage, unidirectional pulses.

Morrow describes the technology’s potential as “end o’ grid.”

“If everyone has their own power plant, then no need for an electric grid to bring power from a coal, gas, or nuclear power plant. No ugly wires on poles. No unsightly substations that are so vulnerable to terrorism or solar CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) that can destroy the multi-ton transformers that take months to build.”
