It’s that time again: I’m starting to compile my list for Observer’s New York fall restaurant preview (plus the normal monthly roundups). Here are your upcoming options, shoot me an email with your clients’ info accordingly:

• The best NYC restaurants opening this August

• The best NYC restaurants opening this September

• Fall Preview (our most anticipated restaurants opening September through November in NYC)

Some FAQs:

• The monthly roundups go live around the 15th of the month so if you’ve got an exclusive in place somewhere else, please keep that in mind.

• I generally like to have my restaurant list set by the 6th or 7th of the month, so pitch me info and a LINK to photos before then.

• Fall Preview date is TBD, but I’d like to have that info in by mid-Aug if possible. Obviously I know details and photos will be more sparse for that list, so send me what you can.

• These stories are five boroughs only, so please don’t send Westchester or Jersey openings.

• There will be some overlap between the September and the Fall Preview list.

• I know opening delays are inevitable, so just try to keep me in the loop when you know a project is getting bumped to the next month or season.

Historically speaking, there are more openings in September than any other time of the year, so that means we receive pitches for way more places than we can include. But please know I read every pitch that comes through and I am very appreciative for your work!

Friends! Quick note: if you are working with a luxury hotel that has recently opened or is opening in Paris soon (let’s call it February through very early Sept.), can you shoot me details on the property and a link to photos? This is for initial research for a potential story.

Greetings from rainy NYC. I was just in rainy London a few days ago, but somehow, it didn’t feel as annoying there. Anyway! Some requests/updates below:

• Do you work with a luxury Seoul hotel? If so, shoot me a note!

• As always, I am looking for new restaurant openings for Observer for March. Please try to get me info (concept, menu, link to photos) by around March 5th. The story generally goes up mid-month, but the restaurants can open any time during March.

As some of you know, I’ve been steadily working on birthing a novel into the world for the last year and a bit. And excitingly, today the cover was revealed in People magazine! We are hard launched!

That also means that preorders are now available, which, as you probably know, mean a great deal to the author. The more excitement you can generate for a book before it officially publishes, the better. Every copy sold really makes a difference.

I have kept this newsletter free because it benefits me as much as it benefits you. I understand opening dates, menus, staffing, etc. is subject to major shifts, so give me what you have so far. Obviously the more the better, but include what you have for now.

About to start some research and on-the-ground reporting for the above story. If you rep a hotel that is fully apartment-style OR has rooms that qualify (kitchen, living room) in New York City, please get in touch. And if your hotel is also particularly family-friendly, I’d love to know that as well (but not every hotel on the list has to qualify for that).

When possible, I’d like to do overnights at the majority of properties (probably with the family in tow), so let me know if your client is amenable to that. For timing purposes, all stays need to be completed by end of May, or maybe early June.

As I don’t need to remind anyone, many families in LA are still in the process of—literally—rising from the ashes to rebuild their lives after the fires. Altadena was one of the hardest-hit enclaves and many families there are in desperate need of furniture to furnish their temporary or new homes, as well as kitchenware. The greatest need, furniture-wise, is for beds and desks.

I know many of you on this list represent clients in these spaces, so if you’ve been looking for a way to help, this is it.

Do you work with a Midtown (-ish, I’ll really look at anything in Manhattan, but preference for Midtown) hotel that might be game to host a group of high-level travel journalists for a one-day summit and/or a restaurant that would be willing to host that same group for lunch? For the hotel:

Date: January 22 from about 9 AM - 3 PM (we’re working on getting timing confirmed)

Space: A conference room or guest room that can hold about 6 - 8 people.

Specifics: I’m happy to share names of confirmed writers if you email me, but all are writing for national outlets. Spoiler: one is me. All of us are happy to meet with the hotel PR team and take a tour in exchange for letting us use the space during the day. And just to be clear: we do not need overnight accommodations, just looking for a space to use during the day.

For the restaurant:

Date: January 22 around 12:30 PM

Space: A large table that can accommodate 6 - 8 people.

Specifics: We’re hoping to find a spot that can extend a media discount or put together a prix-fixe for us (so we can get in and out relatively quickly). We’ll all be happy to post on socials while we’re there!
