We have a plan to distribute water from our borehole to three villages but we have started with Bonyakoni village. The community is about a kilometer away from home and so most of them walk downhill to get water, and uphill with 20 litre buckets on their heads which is a lot of work.

We had our last meeting about a year ago. Each family agreed to contribute at least $10 towards this project but it has been hectic for some of them to raise the agreed $10.

Today I got a call to meet them because they had started to do a skeleton of where we'd lay our pipes. I already have about $330-some from our solarization fund

and some from pledges from two supporters. Our budget is around $1500. Families will raise $400 or so but we can reduce the water taps and the distance from a kilometer to 500-600 metres first. We shall charge $1 for 1000 litres of water since we shall install water meters at all water taps.

The one big challenge has been accommodation. Staying at a hotel or Airbnb is not a good option. I have been meaning to solve the accommodation problem for sometime and I am happy to report that I finally did. I always wanted to build the cabins using wood logs or mud. That's how our ancestors would do it. I opted for bamboo once I found it because it's long lasting than most trees and it is light compared to logs.

The world has about 2 billion people without access to clean cooking, with 50% in Africa. That makes up a quarter of the global population. These two billion depend on firewood, cow dung, crop residue and charcoal. All of these, except expensive charcoal, are dirtier than the dirtiest coal- lignite. I have done a charcoal burning video before and I can tell you that charcoal burning is tedious process and anyone would choose burning the wood directly. Plus, charcoal is expensive to buy and hurts the biodiversity more. The number of trees that have been hurt for charcoal burning is far more than those cut down to make more land for farming.

IEA, which has turned alarmist in recent years that the US is thinking of ditching it, continues to dig deep into clean cooking problem in Africa. Lack of access to clean cooking is a problem that is responsible for over 3.2 million premature deaths annually, with almost a million of those in Africa. This should be a problem that everyone concerned about our welfare, and climate change, should be worried about. According to WHO, in 2019 there were about 9 million deaths in Africa. Assuming the number is constant today, 815 000 deaths premature deaths from indoor pollution should be a leading cause of death in Africa. Why is Anti-African UN quite about this but very vocal about COVID, flu, measles and typhoid shots? Why do we have a gazillion organizations for HIV/AIDS and not clean cooking, the number one killer in Africa? It is why I have called for the jailing of climate activists throughout the world, but especially those very active against life saving Fossil Fuels in Africa- most of them paid handsomely by antihumanist UN.

The IEA had a press briefing Zoom call last year before the clean cooking summit happened. I attended as press and I got to ask a question since I realized that throughout the conference, IEA was more focused on solving clean cooking by electrification through intermittent parasitic unreliable solar and wind. The IEA clean cooking outlook report says that 75% of the people who beat dirty cooking did it through access to LPG for cooking. My question was what the IEA was doing to promote or drive LPG or Natural gas investment in Africa, LPG being our way pout of dirty biomass. The guy who took my question mumbled some words and ended up saying something about electricity. Is IEA ignoring the fact that electricity is only accessible to less than 50% of the Africa population? IEA didn’t forget to mention South Africa, the most developed country in Africa, with 80% of its population depending on electricity for cooking. They should have mentioned that over 80% of South Africa both primary energy and electricity is gotten from burning locally available coal. One should look at countries like Kenya, that are chasing solar and wind, and not South Africa. Our electricity is very expensive in East Africa.

We pay 22 cents(USD) per kWh. Ethiopia pays half our price. The average for the US is less than 15 cents and for 10 cents for coal burning China. What is with the countries burning coal for electricity and cheap electricity prices? My Chinese friend tells me they pay 5 cents for a unit of electricity at night. Our tea factories get 60% of their energy from firewood- remember I was a tea factory firewood supplier a while back- and only 40% of it on electricity. They use electricity to power lights, packaging machines, computers and other light tasks around the factory. Heating and drying tea is the biggest fraction of their energy. When it comes to paying the energy bill, firewood costs 10% of that and expensive electricity takes home 90% of the bill. We are assuming cooking food can be done on our unreliable electricity grids. As I type this, we have not had electricity for about 26 hours, and counting! A village nearby had their transformer blow up about 5 months ago. They are in total darkness up to date. But don’t we all know about the Spain power blackout two months ago? When your grid reliability is over 99% reliable, and 100% of your population has access to electricity, you can worry about burning fossil fuels and not having electricity for seconds.

IEA also mentions bioethanol. You would think that IEA knows that ethanol from corn or plants is a fossil fuel but alas! They don’t. Or they just don’t care since ethanol(always meaning bioethanol) is listed as a green fuel by the UN energy scientists. In fact, there is nothing green about ethanol. Africa exports most of the ethanol they require, I think IEA mentioned 80%. Assuming we are processing corn to get ethanol in the US, The US being a leading producer of corn globally, land preparation is done using farm machinery. The machines are made from steel and plastics, both of which are from Fossil Fuels, in Fossil Fueled industries made up of more steel. The tractors run on diesel. Planters, herbicide and pesticide sprayers also run on diesel, plus the agrochemicals are Fossil Fuel products. Harvesting of the maize is done using combine harvesters, which run on diesel as well. The various operations to transform corn seeds to ethanol also rely on Fossil Fuel heating, in steel factories. Shipping of ethanol for thousands of miles is done using ships that burn oil. How is burning that ethanol green? How do you suggest burning food to cook food when 1 in 5 people are hungry, in Sub-Saharan Africa? If you didn’t know, KOKO ethanol cooking company is quite huge in East Africa.

This quote is from 2022 IEA Africa Energy Report;

‘More than 5 000 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas resources have been discovered to date in Africa which have not yet been approved for development. These resources could provide an additional 90 bcm of gas a year by 2030, which may well be vital for the fertiliser, steel and cement industries and water desalination. Cumulative CO₂ emissions from the use of these gas resources over the next 30 years would be around 10 gigatonnes. If these emissions were added to Africa’s cumulative total today, they would bring its share of global emissions to a mere 3.5%’.

This statement is least alarmist. This was written before IEA started obsessing about net zero and GHG emissions. I think IEA should never mention or think or worry about Africa’s emissions when almost 1 million Africans’ lives are at risk, yearly.

Natural gas and LPG is what we should concentrate on if we want to promote clean cooking in Africa. 75% of the oil and 40% of the gas that Africa produced daily are exported outside Africa. In the US, we have houses connected to natural gas with pipelines from the the natural gas fields straight to the house but IEA thinks solar and wind, and ethanol is what Africans need? …because climate change!

IEA is compromised. They should concentrate on energy and leave climate stuff to UN alarmist department of climate change or more alarmist UN body, the IPCC.

Fossil Fuels for Africa has provided about 200 LPG cans to the poorest in our community over the past two years. We couldn’t be prouder!

I was also looking forward to visiting the us this last week, but despite me having return flight tickets, accommodation, letter of purpose, accommodation, etc., I was denied a nonimmigrant visa. To be fair, I was 99% sure I wasn't gonna get a visa to the land of ‘milk and honey, and oil’.

I have been getting some fresh produce from my neighbors. I will be visiting my daughter tomorrow - yes, I have a daughter! Isn't that the biggest avocado you have ever seen? I have seen bigger.

Fossil Fuels For Africa.

The perfect meat for such customary celebration is goat meat. We went to the a market 20 kilometers away to buy a goat, two days earlier. We missed the livestock market a couple of hours late but we managed to track a livestock broker an. My best friend and I bargained the price of the goat from $70 to around $50.

The following afternoon we slaughtered the goat then packed most of the meat and transported it to her.

I am harvesting sweet potatoes today after sleeping the whole day, 4-5 months after planting. The vines grew so long that I had to prune them for our cattle(and beautiful Maridadi).

Can you imagine if I was cooking indoors in a house without a chimney? We cry uncontrollably as we cook- the smoke irritates the eyes.

I am working on getting families connected to our borehole. We want people to have access to tap water in their homes. That's my first project of the year.

Surprise surprise! Fossil Fuels for Africa is officially registered as a Non governmental organization in Kenya!

You can only imagine what I have gone through setting it up! Simply put, ‘The teacher wants you to tackle a problem in his way otherwise no matter what you do, he will give you a zero. So he asks for some consultation money because his time is valuable..and that's the only way out!’

Corruption is awful but it gets things done. The UN and the Western governments should know! Punchline is, Fossil Fuels for Africa is officially registered.

We have been busy harvesting maize and finger millet at home. Drying is some tough work but we are lucky it's a dry month otherwise we incur more losses.

Our fingers froze at the end but we managed to complete plucking our tea. We carried the tea to the tea buying center, my gumboots were full of water!

I just got home and I want to prepare for an early supper.

Hey, this is living sustainably! You don't pluck tea, you sleep hungry!

I went ahead to pick my tomatoes afterwards before I took a shower. Propping the tomatoes minimize losses but next season I will try that. Cold brings with it a ton of diseases especially fungal related. See the problem with growing food organically?

I have seen this report from deindustrializing Germany om EVs and I am not surprised!

At some point consumers will realize that EVs are overhyped pieces of technology that are far inferior. Electrification of various sectors is a far-fetched dream.

EVs depend on Fossil Fuels throughout their manufacturing. Then they are pretty expensive (I know coal dependant Chinese EVs are cheaper) that Bloomberg found out about 15% of American drivers can afford an electric vehicle and those that can are worried about charging speeds and other battery related issues.

Setting up charging stations is expensive as well, compared to diesel or petrol stations.

Charging an EV takes time. ICE cars do 500 km without needing to refuel and the refueling time is 10 minutes!

EVs can't substitute petrol lawn mowers, leave alone heavy agricultural or earth moving diesel powered machines.

Hell, I can't #JustStopToil with this electric brush cutter.. I have gone back to using my slasher!

In other news, I have a neighbor who is getting water from a tap at home! He has installed a water meter and he will be paying $1 for 1m³(1000 litres).

It is perfectly fine to have a ton of money, like the politicians, whereas your neighbor sleeps hungry! Growing up, that was unheard of. In a few years, it'd the norm. We from time to time share milk, grains, beddings, fruits, firewood and alot of other things with our neighbors. It is a Kisii customary. Around this week we've had maybe 8 fundraising around home. They blast music and announce whenever someone donates money to the students going to university after high school. They lack $700 to take their kids to school. So we have every other family chipping in for their fees.

I have been reading a book by Walter Rodney about capitalism and colonialism. I like it. If I was in the West, I'd glorify capitalism. I wouldn't want anybody (the government) to touch my money. Or even think of giving it out. But once you understand where some of us come from, capitalism isn't the answer to our problems. Capitalism isn't the answer to building of roads throughout the villages. It's not the solution to providing free or affordable education to the poorest in our communities. It isn't the solution to building affordable water wells. It is a solution to getting rich out of the suffering of the poorest people. It is a solution to the exploitation of our minerals because our laws are literally drafted in the West. And the IMF ensures that the most corrupt wins so that they can make it easier for it to keep looting and depriving us of development. We are learning that Kenya has all sorts of minerals and the Chinese are mining them for free. The West is mining inside conservancies and national parks. They are mining gold, Coltan, Tsavorite, Cobalt and all sorts of other rare earth minerals and even have runways inside the parks! As long as everyone is getting their cut and making profits! Capitalists argue, ‘You didn't know you had it in the first place. You have no use for it. Why should you be concerned that I am taking it?’!

I planted some arrowroots on my kitchen garden. I was given the cuttings by the farmer we visited. I have shared the cuttings with another neighbor as a way to propagate the arrowroots throughout my community in future.

I have also planted the yellow maize on my kitchen garden. The Bill Gates law on our constitution criminalizing the sharing of seeds won't work with us!

Good morning! My back hurts from bending over as I harvested some Irish potatoes - organically grown and thus the poor harvest!

I have planted some fruits I bought from a plant breeder as well. I will be conducting interviews from my 'orchard' in 2 or so years😊

Why plant trees when you can plant fruits/food? Why plant flowers when you'd grow tomatoes?

Fossil Fuels for Africa

When they tried that on Germany and Dutch farmers whose harvest depend on using lots of synthetic fertilizer and pesticides, the farmers said no.

For poor countries, protests mean nothing until some die(their blood appeases the climate gods like Shiva and Klaus) or return to abject poverty! All for the climate! 'some will have to die'.

It's the same thing happening in Africa but on a broader spectrum. From policies (SDGs centered around climate change) that don't support modern Agricultural development to those ones ensuring Africa has no access to reliable affordable versatile energy, locally available. Instead we have to compete with rich nations for oil miles away from home while 75% of our oil and 45% of our natural gas is exported out of Africa. If not that, then the IMF and WB are burdening us with their anti fossil fuel development policies.

They have a new trick on the table - bribing poor youths, esp in Uganda, by globetrotting them around the world in business class flights, 5 star hotels, a lucrative salary, and media attention. The only thing required from the activists is to carry printed posters saying 'climate action or leave Africa Fossil Fuels in the ground'.
