thinking?

‎People most likely talking. A couple people disagreeing. A snide or sarcastic comment here or there.

‎Who does he think he is? Who does she think she is?

‎Yeah, I'd rather be in the background, unnoticed than in people's faces. Save me from all these, Lord 🫠. Give me the shadowss!😭

‎But there's something Jesus calls every single believer; salt, and light. Not the pastors, not those on the pulpit.. every child of God.

And notice that we're not trying to be... we already are.

‎Already are salt. Already are light.

‎Many things fascinate me about light, which we are called.

‎Light is not timid, does not hide itself. It is so bold, so unapologetic about shining.

‎It does not cower thinking what men would think about it shining. It would not dim itself because darkness is more comfortable that way. It doesn't even ask darkness for permission to be light. It just shines regardless.

And it's amazing how light isn't even trying to make a name for itself, it's just its nature to illuminate. Likewise with salt, its presence just does it.

‎I call salt the life of the food.

‎Ever had a meal with no or insufficient salt? My goodness.

‎Even while writing this, I experienced it again 😬 (ps: do not doubt my cooking skills). I tried to keep on eating but the meal made no sense. I'd had enough and just had to introduce salt to the food. Definitely, the difference was so clear.

‎And this is what Jesus calls me, this is what He calls you... The difference.

<div other people take up space, and somehow convince ourselves that we're perfectly fine where we are, when in fact we have so much relevance, so much usefulness TO THE WORLD.

‎Indeed, Creation is crying out, groaning in earnest expectation of our manifestation.

‎So it doesn't matter what we've been called, what past experiences have made us think, what we've convinced ourselves to be up until now. Anything outside God's Word certainly is not our identity.

‎Then and there, in the revelation of His Word, I realize, that it's a dirty lie. No, I'm not meant for the shadows. I'm not for under a bushel.

‎And not just me, but every believer... yes, you reading this.

‎So, that idea you have? Pitch it, bring it to life.

‎That podcast? Start it

‎That book? Write and publish it

‎Oh yes, that business? Build it

‎That initiative? Start itttt.

‎I could go on and on.

Started something already? Don't be discouraged, keep at it.

And all these is not to make a name for ourselves, for the paparazzi and all that. Oh no.

‎This leads us to the last thing about salt.

‎Salt creates thirst, for water.

‎Typical of how our lives should make people desire to know God. Not because we're forcing it on them, but there's something about our lives that point them to Him. Just like a signpost.

‎Yeah, people may talk, they will indeed look, but they don't just see me, they don't just see you, but Christ in us. And in turn, they glorify our Father in Heaven.

‎So, dear fellow light, dear fellow salt, do not hide.

‎Doesn't necessarily mean you have to get up on a stage.

‎It just means that wherever you are, in whatever space, you do not conform to this world, nor its standards. You stand for what is right, for what is true. You be the difference.

‎You walk in the consciousness of who you are, what you carry, and who you represent, UNAPOLOGETICALLY.

‎The world needs us, it's better because of us. People's lives are better because of our presence.. our very existence.

‎And again, we're not trying to be relevant, nor are we motivating ourselves to be who we're not, we already are relevant.

‎We already are,

‎LIGHT and SALT.

Thanks for reading, surely you've been blessed. Father instills IDENTITY... individuality.

What the child is called, who the child is, where s/he is from, his or her heritage, privileges and in fact, limitations... what the child can do and not, is something a Father does. Well, God in this sense.

With God, it doesn't matter the circumstances of a man's birth. Well, circumstance could've been better but there's no mistake with God. Scriptures let us know that He was the One who formed us.(Jer. 1:5)

We're not defined by where we find ourselves or where we started from. There's Someone who knew us before all of that, who formed us Himself. And it's in knowing Him that we truly begin to know who we are.

Yea, it's in knowing God that I find myself.

A Father PROVIDES. Emphasis on providessss.

More than just the material things of food, clothing, shelter, MONEY... He provides for us emotionally, giving us comfort and words of affirmations through His Word, mentally, and most importantly, spirituallyyy. (Oh yes, we're blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing!🤏🏽).

Like a sheep catered for by his shepherd, so are we by Him, the good shepherd.

It's why we're not to worry, cause our Father supplies our needs according to HIS RICHES, not ours. C’mon, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills!

A Father SEES.

God sees and notices the details. Even when we speak and try to act all strong, He listens beyond the words... responding not just to what we say but what we didn't say.

Ever craved or admired something and just coincidentally, you're gifted it? Like how you're craving Jollof rice and someone shows up coincidentally with it. Euuu.

But beyond food and cravings, He sees the hurts, the expectations, the choice not to compromise for His name sake... He sees the sacrifices, the prayers.

Yea, He sees us... and He knows how and when to show up at the best time possible.

A Father GUIDES.

He's not one to see us heading for a ditch and then keeps His eyes shut. He doesn't see a path filled with much thorns and thistles whereas there's a much better path, and leave us be.

He sees the bigger picture, and because He wants ONLY what's best for us, He is more than delighted to lead and guide us on the best path to take in the journey of life. We may not yet understand how it makes sense, but we know and trust the One who sees the bigger picture... who only has beautiful thoughts for us.

Weeks ago, I was braiding my sister's hair, and I'd fully gotten the inspo she showed me. Looking at it from her phone, she was bothered and kept reiterating what she wanted. I could see the bigger picture, kept reassuring her, but at a point, almost upset, I was like, "why not just trust me? We might not see it, might not decipher His ways at the moment, but we can trust His Person.

He's not One to leave His children stranded, helpless. Or perhaps they arise as we watch the suffering around us and wonder where God is in the midst of it all.

The pain feels real, the uncertainty feels overwhelming, and His presence can seem distant.

‎Yet Jesus Himself said:

‎"In this world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

‎So the Christian journey was never promised to be a bed of roses.

In fact, every human being, believer or not, will face challenges because we live in a fallen world. Life itself will present difficulties.

‎For we believers, some of these challenges may come through persecution because of our faith in Christ. Others may come as opportunities for our faith to be tested and refined.

‎So, established: every living person will face storms.

What then is our advantage as believers? What difference does Christ make?

‎"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." — Romans 8:28

‎The Amplified Bible puts it this way:

‎"God causes all things to work together as a plan."

‎Not all things come from God, as only good and perfect gifts come from Him, some come from our carelessness, or the darts of the enemy.

But the intelligence of God is able to make ALL work together for the good of the believer.

‎Not just the good things. ‎All things.

‎The pleasant and the painful.

‎The victories and the disappointments.

‎Even that overwhelming situation that presently makes no sense, God is able to weave it all into His plan.

‎We are not promised the absence of difficult seasons; we are promised victory through them.

‎And for every suffering endured in Christ, there is a glory that far outweighs it and cannot even be compared to it.

‎It's like an author who has already written the final chapter of a novel.

‎The reader is anxious, uncertain, and full of suspense and questions because they cannot yet see the ending. But the author already knows how every chapter fits together and how the story concludes.

‎In the same way, we may not yet understand God's plan. We may stand at what seems like a dead end. But God sees the entire picture from beginning to end, and we know that the thoughts He has towards us are ONLY of good and not evil.

‎And because of this, we can trust Him.

‎So in order that we walk in the victory that has been assured to us, we must not lose sight of certain truths in the midst of the storm.

First is His love. Difficult seasons have a way of whispering that God is distant or displeased. But His love is not measured by our circumstances.. it was already settled at the cross. He does not love us less in pain, and He does not abandon us in silence. His love remains steady, unchanging, and everlasting.

‎And because His love is constant, joy is still possible. Yeah, that's the second anchor.. joy.

To be joyful does not mean denying reality or pretending everything is fine. It means refusing to let the storm have the final word. It is a settled confidence in God's goodness even when we do not understand His ways.

When discouragement steals our joy, doubt often follows close behind. And when doubt takes root, it becomes harder to hold on to God's promises and believe Him for what we are trusting Him to do.

‎This is why joy often becomes a target in difficult seasons. When circumstances cannot break us, discouragement tries to. The enemy knows that if he can steal our joy, he can weaken our strength.

‎So we guard it.

‎We remember the goodness of God, counting our blessings. We give thanks even in waiting.

‎And where joy is preserved, hope is not lost.

‎Hope is what carries us when the promise seems distant and the silence feels long. The Bible tells us that God is not slow concerning His promises as some count slowness. His timing is perfect, even when it stretches beyond our expectations.

‎So we keep hoping. We keep trusting. We keep looking to Him, holding onto His Word and His promises spoken to us. We never stop believing and engaging the Word. We keep studying, listening, and declaring.

‎Because if God is the Author of our story, then the chapter we are in is not the end.

‎Another thing we must be careful not to lose in difficult seasons is our connection to the body of Christ.

‎Storms have a way of making us withdraw into ourselves. We become tired, discouraged, and tempted to carry our burdens alone. But God never designed us to navigate life's challenges in isolation. And that in fact is another strategy of the enemy during difficult seasons, to get us in isolation when we are most vulnerable.

‎One of the gifts God has given us is the community of believers. People who can pray with us when we are weary, encourage us when our hearts are failing, and remind us of truth when our emotions are loud.

‎Sometimes, God's answer to a struggling believer comes through another believer.

‎So don't isolate yourself. Stay connected. Stay planted.

‎Let yourself be strengthened by the family God has placed around you. Let people pray with you, encourage you, and walk with you. God often sustains us not only through His promises, but through His people.

‎So is there an advantage?

‎Yes, there is.

‎Not necessarily that storms never come.

‎Not necessarily that we are spared every hardship.

‎But that when the storms do come, we do not face them as everyone else does.

‎We have a Father who walks with us through the fire.

‎We have His Word, His promises to stand on when circumstances shake us.

‎We have the assurance that our suffering is not meaningless, and that God is able to weave even painful chapters into a beautiful story.

‎And we have a family of believers who can hold up our hands when we grow weary.

‎That is the advantage. A profound one.

‎'Cause sometimes victory does not look like avoiding the storm, but emerging from it with our faith intact, hope alive, joy preserved, and a deeper revelation of God's faithfulness than we had before.

‎And years later, you may find yourself looking back at the very season you once begged God to remove, only to realize that He was doing some of His deepest work in you through it.

‎So when we ask again… is there really an advantage?

‎Yes. Not that we are exempt from storms, but that no storm gets the final say. God does.

Grace and peace,

Esther. 🌿

A Different Kind of Freedom

I've somewhat restrictive and boring, for one who wants to be serious with God.

Like it's just a long list of do's and don'ts.

Don't do this. Don't do that.

Stay away from this. Stay away from that.

Ugh pls, give me a break!

Welcome to the last part of my series.. thank you for continuing with me. ❤️

If you haven't subscribed or you're just coming across this, do well to subscribe. I'll do so right back.

For someone trying to take their walk with God more seriously, it can feel at times like you’re constantly watching yourself. Trying not to mess up, trying not to fall short.. trying to meet up with a standard basically.

And yeah, it can get frustrating or tiring.

Especially when it seems like other believers are often correcting... or trying to “help”.

Like please, “can you just spare me the details and let me rest?”

Right. I get that.. been there, hehe.

Looking through the Old Testament, I couldn’t help but marvel. So many laws, so many instructions.

Over 600 laws to keep!

And the standard was clear: break one, and you’re guilty of all. It makes you pause and think…

How was anyone meant to keep up?

But then, Christ came… and something changed.

Not that God’s standard changed, not in the slightest bit, but the way we relate to the standard did.

Because now, it’s no longer just about managing rules, living consumed by “do’s and don’ts”… but living from a different place, which is love.

And this is where this all starts to make sense.

God’s instructions were never given to make life boring, funless, or restrictive. They were given to keep and protect us from the wages of sin, which is death.

As written in Romans 6:23,

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

And this death isn't limited to just physical death, but separation from God, emptiness, and loss of life in its fullness.

So it's like.. “stay away from sexual immorality, and you're protected from the consequences of it.”

“Stay away from falsehood (lying) or fraud (stealing), and you're protected from the consequences of it.”

So basically, God gave a guide on how to walk and live without experiencing this consequence of sin, death.. as the loving Father that He is.

God created us, yeah?

So who else understands us better than we understand ourselves, if not Him? Who else knows best how we ought to live?

His ways are not restrictions but alignment with how we're designed to live.

So, when you begin to walk in love, genuine love for God and genuinely trying to please Him at all times, it's no longer about meeting up with rules. Your desires start to change as you walk with Him - not perfectly, but consistently.

You realize that some things don't excite you the way they used to, some environments don't sit right anymore. You begin to feel convicted about some things, like music taste, dressing, some friends, and circles..

An inner transformation.

Not because you're forcing yourself, but because your heart's being reshaped.

You begin to choose God out of desire, not compulsion. Quietly and naturally, you become a person whose heart is so aligned with God that you begin to love what He loves.

So in simple terms, you move from

“I want this.. but I shouldn't”, to

“I don't even want this like that anymore”.

And slowly, you realize that what once felt restrictive was actually protection all along.

Because true freedom isn’t found in following every desire, but in being free enough to choose what leads to life.. eternal life.

So make loving God more your focus.

Because with love, obedience becomes more natural, much more easy.

You begin to desire the things that please Him and actually do them. Not just because you have to, but because your heart genuinely wants to.

And with the help of the Holy Spirit? You truly walk and live in freedom.

Remain blessed,

Esther. 🌿

The Quiet Power of Environment life.

In my previous newsletter, the part 1 of this series, I talked about dealing with temptations.

James 1:13&14 tells us that it's not God who tempts us but that that “each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed”.

So, we cannot but talk about this major influence on our desires, which is our environment.

I once engaged a guy from the Eastern part of Nigeria in a discussion, and I was super intrigued. Everything about our culture and things that were normal to us in the Southwest seemed strange and abnormal to him. An example is how much respect for elders isn't joked with over here. Hardly can you call an elderly person just by their name without being termed highly disrespectful, unlike in his own environment where he grew up, where the very opposite was normal.

It really sank in that the things we see, hear, and give ourselves to overtime influence how we feel, look, and act… and what we perceive as right or wrong.

I remember the first time I watched a movie with an immoral scene. I felt so scarred, like I shouldn't have let my eyes see that. But with more exposure, it slowly became quite normal, without me even flinching.

Not anymore, praise God. 😭🙏🏽

We’re told to guard our hearts with all diligence, for from it come the issues of life. Prov. 4:23

Our life and destiny begins with what is sown in our thoughts, and our thoughts are deeply shaped by our environment. And it’s not just our physical surroundings, but a combination of influences (people, media, habits) that either feed faith or hinder it.

If we would truly be like Christ and represent Him well, our minds have to be like His. Philip. 2:5

Overtime, what we constantly behold begins to shape or reshape our desires, positively or negatively, because we are social beings who tend to imitate. And though it may be undesirable, we eventually begin to mirror what we are exposed to long enough.

If we remain in an environment that does not aid us, we will constantly find ourselves struggling to resist the many temptations that such an environment quietly normalizes.

That is why we must intentionally expose ourselves to environments that nurture desirable behaviors.

Having systems and setting structures around us help sustain us, especially in moments when we are not as strong or fervent as we ought to be.

So what is a believer’s conducive environment?

When I say '“conducive”, I mean an intentional atmosphere that’s designed to help foster our spiritual growth, nurture our faith, and facilitate a deeper relationship with God.

Godly associations and community

This is where we belong.

Inasmuch as we show love to all, we must be intentional about those we allow into our close circle.

“Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”… it’s not just a saying, it’s reality.

Often times, we try to fit in and become who we are not because we are surrounded by the wrong influences. We don’t belong with friends or in spaces, where we cannot freely talk about our faith, about God, without feeling like we are “too much.” We don't belong with those who think “not everything is about Jesus, or the Bible”.

No matter how spiritual you are or want to be, if your close environment consistently pulls in the opposite direction, it becomes a lost cause. Because influence is stronger than intention.

Water, over time, quenches fire.

Continuous exposure to the Worship, Prayer, and the Word.

Bible study, listening to sermons, prayer and worship are not engagements we reserve for Sundays or church days. It has to be daily. Because if it is only on those days, then what are we feeding on the rest of the week?

What are we listening to? What are we watching? What are we repeatedly giving our attention to?

Maybe it’s the kind of music and things you listen to, the kinds of movies and social media content you watch, the places you go… that’s the problem. Maybe it's why you find it hard to pray, or grow your relationship with God.

It’s just simply the natural result of what you have consistently exposed yourself to.

You cannot keep feeding your flesh and expect your spirit to remain strong. It doesn’t work that way.

If you constantly surround yourself with noise, compromise will begin to sound like wisdom. If you dwell in environments that normalize what God calls sin, conviction slowly fades, and what once felt wrong begins to feel harmless.

That’s how subtle it is.

No one wakes up one day and suddenly falls. It is usually a gradual drift… a series of small allowances, quiet compromises, and environments that made those compromises feel acceptable.

But the beautiful thing is this: the same principle works in reverse.

If you surround yourself with truth, with people who love God, with things that stir your spirit, your hunger for God will grow. Your sensitivity will return. Your desires will begin to align with His and it's not so difficult to obey God's instructions or live a life that pleases God.

You don’t become like Christ by accident.

You become like what you consistently behold.

So if you have been struggling, maybe don’t just pray for strength… also check your environment, and ask Him to reveal whatever is stifling your growth.

Grace and help is given.

To keep receiving posts like this, kindly subscribe.. Why are we fleeing? They cause us to sin, which we know has its consequences, and also prevent us from pursuing what pleases God.

You know, when Apst. Paul says run, he's not being dramatic or doing too much.

We see Joseph who didn't stay with Potiphar's wife to prove a point, he left. Literally ran out.

Why? Because some desires are meant to be escaped from, not just managed.

And the more and frequent you resist something, the less resistance you have against it.

In all practical sense though, how can we flee and overcome temptations that come our way?

- Know your triggers.. often underrated.

You can't run well when you don't know what exactly you're running from.

So when are those desires amplified? When you're bored? When scrolling on social media? What environment feeds them?

What emotions precede them? Stress, loneliness, comparison?

Jesus said watch and pray. Matt. 26: 41. Watching meaning being aware, alert.

Half the battle is catching it early, not when you’re already deep in it.

Remove access… basically, don't argue with temptation.

Make it harder to sin. Do certain apps stir lust or fleshly desires? Mute, unfollow or take breaks from them.

Music or contents that feed your flesh?

Friends that tempt and entice you to sin, who don't help your walk with God?

Do away with them.

Meeting the opposite sex late at night or in private places? You know what to do.

This honestly, is just wisdom.. not one being extreme.

You're not proving strength by staying close to what weakens you.

Interrupt the moment, don't negotiate.

The moment you notice those triggers, give it no chance. It’s not a time for show or test of spirituality. You can stand up, change locations.. or literally run as well hehe.

Don't just resist but replace.

The verse doesn’t just say “run from”… it says pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace..

So you're not just emptying your life out, but filling it differently.

Rather than scrolling endlessly, switch to worship, a sermon, or even a meaningful book.. anything productive.

Those ungodly friends who don't help matters? Replace them with godly ones.

Build structure.

Structure and discipline carries you when desire is low.

Decide ahead what you’ll do in weak moments. For example, what do you do when you start to notice pride? Or having immoral thoughts?

There’s the structure of having accountability partner(s) as well. Company of believerssss.

Also the structure of prayer, Word, quiet time... daily renewal of the mind with the scriptures.

Things like that... Really helpful.

It's my prayer that grace is given to us to say live lives pure and pleasing unto God.

So know, my dearest reader, that there's no temptation beyond your capacity to overcome. You are not tempted beyond that which you can bear.

But then, maybe the real question isn’t just what you’re running from… but what’s quietly shaping your desires.

What do I mean?

Subscribe now to follow through this series and more.❤️

With all my love,

Esther.🌿

A Quiet Wake-Up Call

About 2 years ago, I was in the hospital on posting.

Rooted🌿

About 2 years ago, I was in the hospital on posting.

Suddenly, we were hearing of a fatal fire accident which occurred earlier that morning, having all the passengers burnt. And the victims were at the mortuary in our hospital.

Whattttt.

We just had to go see for ourselves. Being nursing students, we were given access.

Ngl, I had NEVER ever seen anything like that.

Human beings, burnt beyond recognition. Body parts separate from one another. Like burnt cows or goats.

I went numb.

My heart racing.

You telling me these were really humans hours back?

We left. But the images didn’t.. they never did.

Talk about being scarred for life.

I asked myself, “Who just got a job opportunity? Who was finally going to see their parents or loved one after a long while? Who had the fattest bank accounts, the latest or most expensive phones or possessions…?”

None of it mattered anymore.

They were all gone.

Burnt flesh.

I don’t think I ever took thanksgiving so personal and serious like I did from then on.

How dare I complain!?

The gift of life alone… It’s why we have hopes, dreams, and ambitions. It’s why we can feel emotions, even the negative ones.

At times, the cares of life can seem to have such heavy weight on us, negative occurrences, unanswered prayers even… and our minds almost automatically, blot out the blessings that God has so loaded us with.

Many things we take for granted; sleeping and waking up every morning, having functional body systems, having daily needs met, roofs over our heads, the ever presence of God, the gift and fellowship of His Spirit, etc, etc…

We can get so focused on what God hasn’t or did not do.. and forget all what He has done.

I’m sure not the only one who gets mad at the Israelites when reading the Bible.

So quick to forget. Always grumbling… ugh.

But isn’t that what we do most times?

Why should God bless you further if, just like now, you’d be ungrateful about it?

So count your blessings, dear reader.

Intentionally.

You’d be surprised how much the Lord has done for you.. and be filled with a truly merry heart. Ah 😂😂 (she’s definitely smiling reading this). Many times, this has happened hehe.

So, quick question:

Do you love God? (You probably answered "Yes" in less than a second.)

We’re always quick to answer that.

But do you genuinely love Him? Take a minute to ponder.

It’s easy to say we love Him. The words are easy. On our social media posts, status updates… it's all there.

But saying it or feeling like we do doesn’t automatically mean we truly love Him.

We often base our love on feelings. The emotional highs during worship sessions, the goosebumps and tears… idk if some feel butterflies? 😂

For some, it could be regular attendance or activity in church. Being busy, from one department to another, donations to the church…

Then for some, love for God could be a result of what He does and gives, or can give us as His children. He's a good Father, yeah? The protection, sustenance, answered prayers, and open doors…

You might wonder if all these are bad. Well, technically not. But sometimes we humans have a different definition of love than what God actually calls loving Him.

I read in a book that when you love someone, you’re naturally driven to please them and express your love in many ways.

And just like we have our different love languages (words of affirmation, gifts, quality time…), God has His too, and they matter to Him. This is what He refers to as loving Him.

So, what are God's love languages?

~ Fellowship. Intimacy.

Ever felt paranoid from your crush ghosting you? Argghhh my goodness. 😭 All you want is that attentionnn.

Surely, whoever you love becomes a priority. You spend time and make time for that person. Even when there’s no time, you fashion it out, hehe. 😅

So, can we really say we love God and not spend time with Him? To go days without prayer or studying His Word (not just reading out of duty) and actually feel okay?

Hmmm.

~ Obedience to His commandments.

“If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands” John 14:15 AMPC

Complete obedience. We don’t select what seems convenient and ignore the rest. Many times, His commands can feel inconvenient. Letting go of control, pride, and comfort… our flesh would cryyy.

Oh, forgiveness? Loving your enemies? Praying for them rather than gossiping? Saying sorry even when clearly not at fault? Doing away with whatever does not please God — be it some relationships or anything else? I could go on and on.

We do it regardless of how we feel, and don’t try to justify disobedience like King Saul.

~ Loving others.

“If someone says, ‘I love God,’ but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And He has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.” 1 John 4:20–21 NLT

“If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion — how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let us not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” 1 John 3:17–18 NLT

Quite glaring and explanatory, yeah? This is what it means to love God. The proof is clearly stated. It’s not just words or feelings.

So I ask…

What if God doesn’t answer your current prayer request the way you expect?

If you don’t get that job?

Or you lose your loved one?

Would you still love Him?

If, just like Job, you lost all that you had, would it still be Him?

Tough question, right? Feels like a lottt. Actually, it is a lot. Ngl, I feel the same right now as I write.

Loving God the way He calls us to feels impossible… but that’s the point. We can’t do it by our natural selves, at least not consistently.

Now, the beautiful truth is that God gives grace: the power, help, and even desire to love Him.

He never asks us to do it alone, by our own strength.

We can always ask Him to help us love Him more, the way He wants. He wants us to love Him for Him, above just what we can get from Him.

This love is the basis of our relationship with Him — the fuel and drive. It’s what makes our relationship enjoyable, rather than a performance, routine, or obligation.

And then, like King David, we can be called people after God’s own heart.

It’s my prayer that you come into a much deeper, rooted, love-filled relationship with God… and that grace is given to love Him more. Amen.

With all my love,

Esther. 🌿

The Quiet Becoming 🍃

He was impulsive.

Rooted🌿

He was impulsive. Fearful. Ordinary. And yet… in a moment, everything about him would change.

Forever.

Let’s delve a bit into this Bible character, shall we?

Simon Peter. (I’m excited, hehe.)

I was studying the early chapters of the book of Acts, and truth be told, I was amazed.

The audacity of Peter? My goodness. He feared no man. Not even the “high and mighty Sanhedrin”. So, so bold. As were the other disciples… but my focus is on Peter. He would address thousands with such utterance that at once, they were saved. At once. Healed the sick.. performed many signs…

This was the same ordinary, unpolished man who made a living by merely fishing. Impulsive. Overconfident in himself. The same man who struggled to grasp spiritual truths and understand God’s plan while walking with Jesus.

Righttt, he was fearful. We all know this story hehe. Even before a servant girl, he denied Christ… after pledging to die for Him.

And now? This man had been totally transformed. Who would believe it was the same person?

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished…” Acts 4:13

Peter was no longer defined by his past. The man he had become bore no resemblance to who he once was.

This shows us something very powerful: our past, background, weaknesses and shortcomings.. the things we struggle with, the limitations we think we have.. are nothing when it comes to Jesus.

Often times, we admire how graced some others are in areas where we struggle. Our lives seem so ordinary. It can feel hard to “dream big” with confidence that it could ever become reality.

Oh “I’m not skilled enough.”

“I’ve social anxiety. I can’t effectively communicate.”

“I lack connections.”.. “With my level of education?”

Maybe it’s habits we want to drop but find hard to. Swearing, gossiping, lying, maladaptive daydreaming, pornography, masturbation...

Hope is not lost, my friend.

There’s One who turns weakness into strength. As a child, you weren’t the one doing the providing—you were provided for. You woke up with an assurance that you wouldn’t go hungry or have your needs unmet because you had a parent or caregiver. Even when they didn’t have the means immediately, they still went out of their way to make something happen.. because they knew you depended on them.

How much more your Heavenly Father?

That's reassuring.

Yeah right, not everyone had the privilege of responsible parenthood. But I tell you this: God is a very responsible Father.

Do you have any idea how valuable you are to Him? He who did not spare [even] His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? Rom. 8:32.

Even if it doesn't work out as you planned or expected.. He has something much better for you!

So stop worrying, my dear reader. God is saying, “Stop worrying, my child. I’ve got you.”

Even down to the number of hairs on your head, He knows them. You are engraved on the palms of His hands.

Maybe you need to pause for a moment.

Sit with this truth.

Let it sink in.

You have a Father.

I pray this finds you right when you need it most. Too many times, I chose convenience over destiny. I procrastinated. I let my emotions lead me. I waited to feel like doing things before actually doing them. I watered down my boundaries. I wasn’t as consistent with my writing as I should have been.

But stepping into this new year, what I feel isn’t just excitement, it’s clarity and purpose.

Like Habakkuk 2:2 says, I’ve written the vision down. "And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” I’ve put systems in place so I can still run with it even on days when motivation runs dry.

This year, I’m intentional about making every moment count.

How about you?

It’s not just prayers or wishing for a better year that makes it better. It’s the choices we make daily. What you stopped doing wrong—and what you’re now choosing to do right.

Your routines.

Your discipline.

Time is your greatest asset. Yesterday is gone forever. If January 1st slipped by, will today follow the same pattern?

If you don’t have a vision yet, you’ve already started on the wrong foot. So ask yourself:

√ Who do I want to become this year?

✓ What are my goals?

✓ What are my priorities, based on these goals?

✓ Which relationships are just taking up space without adding value? (You know what to do with these kinds)

Above all, remember this: God is glorified not only in our prayers, but in our daily living.

And this year, above every other pursuit, let your greatest pursuit be God🤍. Living to please Him, striving to walk in His will, and yielding daily to His direction.

“But the people who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” — Daniel 11:32b

He is the foundation of every true achievement we aspire to make. There’s a path He desires you to walk this year, a work He has prepared especially for you.

It’s my prayer that this year truly becomes our best yet—that we are graced to be intentional, disciplined, and deliberate in how we live. That we take hold of our lives with purpose and direction.

Have a blessed and fulfilling year 💕

With all my love,

Esther 🌿

Reclaiming the Quiet

I had just finished writing one of the major Nursing professional exams.

Rooted🌿

I had just finished writing one of the major Nursing professional exams. Burning midnight candles and light bulbs, sleepless nights, reading upon reading… all these while juggling postings and other responsibilities. By the time I was done, I was completely burnt out. I just wanted to sleep, eat, and do absolutely nothing.

So I drowned myself in social media and movies — trying to catch up on everything I’d “missed.” But it didn’t take long before I noticed something worrying: praying became hard. Being still in God’s presence became harder. I began to prefer movies and endless scrolling over prayer… over anything spiritual, really.

I asked myself what I was doing differently, what had changed. And that’s when it hit me — the strategy the devil uses in this age against believers. Not the dramatic, obvious attacks. No. He goes slow, sweet, subtle. He keeps you entertained enough, busy enough, distracted enough. “Just one more reel… one more laugh… one more gist… one more episode.” And quietly, without announcing itself, your hunger starts shrinking.

You become restless in the place of prayer. You try reading the Scriptures but your mind is scattered. You close it in frustration because you’ve become so used to noise that stillness feels uncomfortable… foreign even.

But you don't find God in the noise. It’s like trying to hear a whisper right after standing beside loud speakers. He said, “Be still and know that I am God.”

And yes, we have busy schedules — truly valid ones. But think about it: you still somehow have time for TikTok videos, Instagram reels, tweets… you even know the latest trends. Remove those, and suddenly you realize how much time you actually have, even in the midst of life’s busyness. That five-minute break… that one hour before lectures…

Maybe you’ve been struggling to stay in the secret place. Maybe spiritually, you’re near empty. The zeal that used to be there isn’t anymore. You remember “the good old days,” and right now God feels distant. But hear me: He isn’t. You’re not far. You’re not lost. You’re just distracted — overstimulated. And that can be reversed.

If you train your mind to be still again, you’ll find that God was there all along… speaking… whispering… drawing you into something deeper, even in the midst of the busy and tight schedules.

So instead of scrolling, pick up your Bible — the physical one, if possible, because phones come with their own traps. Choose to pray instead. God isn’t limited to morning and night devotion. Prayer is communion — all day, anywhere. In the office, lecture hall, hospital… acknowledging Him, muttering prayers under your breath, meditating on His Word instead of chattering fruitlessly with friends and coworkers.

Let’s be honest though: easier said than done. Removing distractions feels boring at first, right? That’s normal. Stillness feels boring at first. It’s like switching from sugary snacks to real food. In the beginning, your tongue misses the sweetness, even though your body needs the nutrients.

What's happening is your mind is simply detoxing from overstimulation.

But give it time — enough quiet, enough stillness — and you’ll notice your thoughts become clearer, your emotions stabilize, prayer stops feeling dry, worship becomes real again, your creativity comes back, you sleep better even. I assure you, it’s not a boring life you’re entering — it’s a full, rich one.

So discipline yourself. This walk is partnership with God, not coercion. He won't shove it down your throat. Your will matters. Your choices matter. Majority of times you won't feel like it. But we don't work with feelings..You have to choose Him — daily. Deliberately. And when you do, His grace meets you. He desires fellowship with you even more than you desire Him. The moment you turn your gaze back, Heaven responds.

I pray this blesses you as much as it blessed me. And I pray for grace to cut down distractions, to be disciplined, focused, and intentional in this noisy world we live in.

Shalom Shalom,

Esther 🌿

Pain into Purpose 🪷

You thought saying yes to Jesus would make everything fall into place.

Rooted🌿

You thought saying yes to Jesus would make everything fall into place.

But here you are—still hurting, still struggling, still wondering why life doesn’t look as peaceful as you imagined..As one problem ends, another begins. It can be so hard and overwhelming at times.

If God really loves me, why all these problems? For how long will this go on?

Yes, It’s a valid question.

But here’s the thing—we live in a fallen world and problems are part of it. Even Jesus said, “In this world, you will have trouble…” (John 16:33). It's a certainty. So no, every day won’t be a fairytale, hehe.

Here's another thing- Sin. You can't live in sin and expect peace. It's like walking into fire and wondering why you're burned. Sin invites trouble. So check yourself first..

BUT BEYOND THAT,

Most problems that we face are for a purpose. God often allows us face challenges. You then ask why would a good and loving Father would allow that right? Here's some reasons;

🌿 Problems shape us.

God uses problems to build something solid in us—something that won’t crumble when life shakes.

When everything’s easy, we tend to stay comfortable. But when things get tough, we stretch. We learn patience. We develop endurance (Romans 5:3–4 ). It’s through difficulty that we grow. Think about it—no one builds muscle without lifting some heavyweights. The same goes for faith.

So, He’s not punishing or trying to break you; He’s training you.

🌿 Problems draw us closer to Him.

Sometimes, God allows pressure so we remember who our true source is. We stop relying on ourselves and start looking to Him—for strength, for answers, for peace.

In suffering, we learn things about God that we can't learn in any other way.

Studying the Israelites, everytime their focus drifted to idols, God would cause the enemy to attack them until their focus was redirected to Him.

So maybe God’s doing the same with you.. pulling you into something deeper, closer to Himself.. where your faith becomes real.

🌿 Every problem we face is intended for our good

There’s beauty hidden in the mess.

Think about baking a cake—raw eggs, flour, butter… none of them taste good on their own. But when mixed and baked, something sweet comes out.

Your story might one day be someone else’s hope. Maybe one day they’ll hear what you’ve been through and say, “Wow, if God could bring her through that, He can bring me through too.”

The most beautiful stories often have the ugliest beginnings, you know. And just like a novel—you’re not at the end yet. The plot twist is coming. One day, it’ll all make sense.

(But note: this promise is only for God’s children. If you live in opposition to Him, things don’t “work together for good”—they work against you. So if you haven’t accepted Jesus, my friend, do it nowwwww.)

So remember, my reader… when problems come, that God's plan for you is GOOD. Focus on the plan, not the pain. Then you rejoice and give thanks: Not because of the problem, but because He’s walking through it with you.. and bringing something beautiful out of it. Don’t give up! Instead of “Why me?”, ask, “Father, what do You want me to learn from this?” Then keep trusting and doing what’s right.

With all my love and encouragement,

Esther. 🌿❤️

A love so real 🫶🏽

“God loves you.”

Rooted🌿

“God loves you.”

You’ve heard that before, haven’t you? Probably a million times. Maybe now, it’s just words to you.

But pause for a moment and really think about it — the Creator of the universe loves you. This great and mighty God loves you! So passionately. So deeply.

Not sometimes. Not when you’re perfect. Always.

With no conditions. It's not something you've to work for to get. You don’t have to fix your past or pretend to be someone you’re not. He already loves you — just the way you are.

Yes, you reading this.

So much that He sustains you daily. Just look at creation — the sky He painted so delicately, the mountains and seas He sculpted, the sunrise and sunset, the breeze that blows. You can almost feel the warmth of God’s embrace in it all. It’s undeniable — the beauty of His creation. Created for you.

Then He decided to create you — His precious one — every detail reflecting Him.

He loves you so much that He gave the ultimate gift: His Son, to die for you. Believe it or not, He did. To restore the fellowship that was lost.

And all this loving Father asks of us is simple: That we respond to His love.

Not with rituals, rules, or religion — but with relationship. He wants intimacy. A “yes” to the love He’s offering, just like when someone says, “I love you — will you marry me?”

This love changes everything. It’s why we surrender — not out of fear, but out of love. It’s why we live a life that pleases Him. It’s why we stay away from sin. It’s why we want to know Him more — in His Word, in prayer. It’s why we tell others about His love. I mean, why keep something so beautiful to yourself?

Now think about it — if God gave His Son for you even before you loved Him, imagine what more He’ll do when you not only believe in Him, but choose to walk closely with Him.

Romans 8:32 reminds us: “He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”

Oh, that you’d stop insisting on your way. That you’d stop chasing after the things of this world and chase Him.

Life is brighter, deeper, and more meaningful with Him. There’s a peace you can’t buy, a purpose instead of emptiness, and a stability you can’t find anywhere else — even in the ups and downs of life.

So here’s the question: Are you willing to let His love in — fully? This relationship isn't far fetched, you know. It's as real as real can be 🫂

With love,

Esther 🌿

Where Boldness Begins ⚡

Your heart pounds, your palms get sweaty, your throat feels dry… maybe even tears start to form in your eyes.

Rooted🌿

Your heart pounds, your palms get sweaty, your throat feels dry… maybe even tears start to form in your eyes. Your mind is racing — What if I’m not good enough? What if they laugh? What if I mess this up?

Your voice feels trapped in your chest. You’ve rehearsed what to say, but the words don’t come out right… you even stutter. Every eye in the room feels like it’s on you, waiting, judging. And even after it’s over, you keep replaying the moment in your head — every stumble, every silence, every imagined flaw.

So you shrink back. You’d rather stay quiet, hidden, safe in your own space than risk being exposed.

The world calls it social anxiety… but deeper than the label, it’s the fear of being seen, judged, or not enough. And left on our own, it feels impossible to overcome.

But here’s the truth: lasting boldness doesn’t come from hyping yourself up or pretending you’re not scared. It comes from staying in the presence of the One who already calls you His.

When Moses stood before Pharaoh, when David stood before Goliath, when Peter stood before thousands to preach — they weren’t bold because they were naturally confident. They were bold because they had been with God. His presence steadied them, His voice assured them, His Spirit filled them.

And that same presence is available to you. In the quiet place of prayer. In worship. In opening His Word.

The more you behold Him, the less power fear has to hold you.

Because social anxiety whispers, “You are not enough.”

But God’s presence declares, “I am with you — and in Me, you are more than enough.”

Maybe you’ve felt this before. Maybe the words here sound a little too familiar. If they do, I just want you to know this: you don’t have to stay trapped in fear. The same presence that strengthened Moses, David, and Peter is available to you today.

Don’t start with trying to fix yourself or “just think positive.” Start with staying close to Him. Boldness isn’t something you force — it’s something you receive, rooted in His nearness.

And when the whispers of anxiety try to rise again, remind your heart of this truth:

“God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7) !!

With love,

Esther 🌿

Right Where You’re Meant to Be ✨

Hey friend, I’m so glad you’re here.

Rooted🌿

Hey friend, I’m so glad you’re here.

Trust me, you’re not here by accident ❤️

Life can get so loud, can’t it? Juggling deadlines, responsibilities, relationships, and the quiet battles no one else sees — sometimes it feels like there’s no space to breathe. And in all of it, it’s so easy to forget that God is near.

As a nursing student, I get it. I know what it feels like to be stretched thin. But here’s the truth I want to remind you of today: God, your Father, is much closer than you think.

Closer than your worries. Closer than your weakness. Closer than your next breath.

And not only is He near — in Christ, you already are more than you think you are. You are not overlooked. You are not “barely enough.” You are CHOSEN, LOVED, SECURE, and COMPLETE in Him.

That’s why this space exists. Rooted is where we pause to remember His presence in the ordinary, and our identity in Him when the world tries to make us forget. Through reflections and gentle reminders, I’ll be sharing encouragement to keep us steady and grounded in His truth.

So welcome. My prayer is that every word you find here reminds you of this simple truth: you are never alone, and you are already deeply rooted in His love. 🌸

With love,

Esther 🌿
