Hi beautiful humans. I’m currently writing this stack sick in bed with my favorite honey mud mask on. I’ve been resisting writing this roundup because honestly, it’s felt surface level with so much deep inner and outer work going on behind the screen. But considering I’ve had little-to-no energy, I thought this would be a good time to dive into something with more levity. And of course, amidst me curating—which always takes me back to my fashion editorial days and feels deeply connected to my core essence (aka the frequency from which we manifest from)—I had some really beautiful downloads drop in. AKA wisdom from the universe that gave me answers to questions I’ve been chewing on.

Perhaps it’s because I was forced to pause or because I stopped clinging, likely both. Regardless, it’s such a good reminder that when you’re so focused and want something so bad, that force can at times contract your energy to actually receive it. Sometimes you need to pivot into something else (slow down, have fun, switch it up etc.) and the portal opens up! Also, I do believe that when you’re sick your body is clearing space energetically for a new version of you to take hold. Too woo? But seriously, every time I’ve gotten sick in the recent past, something massive happened shortly after! Stay tuned…for now, back to Objects of Affection.

My bedside table is currently about to teeter over, stacked with far too many beauty products I’m testing and books, next to a dangerous amount of liquids: a Loonen, organic coconut water and a massive glass of hydrating electrolytes that has both hyaluronic acid and collagen in it. Make your water sexy, am I right?

Speaking of sexy, is there anything more luxurious than a midday salt and oil bath? Even when you’re sick, it feels so indulgent. Baths were deeply medicinal for me while going through cancer treatment and still are today. I concoct them based on a variety of factors: how I’m feeling, seasonal energetics, and what I have stocked in my beauty closet. This one was rather simple with these energy clearing salts, this Brazilian bath oil and this clean zodiac candle. It doesn’t have to be complicated to be sacred! But I do love mixing a myriad of teas, milks, and herbs in the tub like a modern day witch. A couple of you dropped me a DM when I posted this on IG so let me know in the comments if you’re interested in delving deeper.

Some loft updates, I recently swooped this fun alligator rug. It’s an all-natural jute fiber, handmade in India. I’m sourcing pillow covers, obsessed with these, for my couch. I also caved and got the quintessential Brooklyn paper pendant lamp. I wanted to do something different, but this space is just too perfect for that style.

On another note, I’m looking to freeze my eggs (again) this winter. I used Needed fertility support five or so years ago and I’m going to use them again because I had such a great experience. Outside of fertility, I use their cognitive pills for work (I legitimately feel my brain turn up a level when I take) and I stock their stress support at my desk. It has saffron in it which apparently works wonders for your mood.

Hi beautiful humans! Happy Eclipse season, kicking off what I like to call a fast track to fate 🤘🏻

This post was actually meant for Instagram, but it just kept pouring out of me so I found myself pivoting here. So this will be a shorter (ish) post. Let me know if you vibe with it in the comments! Let’s get into it.

As I’ve started to really reground and feel more safe, there has been a lot of unearthing over the past month in order to be cleared, thanks to Mercury Rx in Cancer. I’m still processing a lot of it, but the good thing is it’s moving up and out. I’ll share more on that soon, but integration is really key for me so I can ensure I’m sharing from place of wisdom vs. anything emotionally charged. In brief, the major lesson was that patterns take time and patience to unwind.

You can be aware intellectually that you are perpetuating emotions and behaviors that “aren’t yours,” but they’ll still come up because the neural pathways are so deeply entrenched in your subconscious. This new season of life has been (surprise?) centered a lot around compassion, for myself and others, and learning to nurture and nourish myself on a deeper level. What does that look and feel like on a daily basis? Big divine fem energy.

Anyways, I’m writing this from the spa at Moss about to get a tarot reading, because of course I went down to check out the gym and there were comp sessions happening. 2ND HOUSE is kicking off a residency here that I’m super pumped about so stay tuned there.

I’ll be honest with you (always) that I’ve tried to show up for on substack for weeks and literally nothing would come out…like nothing. I would just stare at the blank screen, clinging to any morsel of creative flow. And when that happens, I know I can’t continue to force and need to pull back, clear my energy and get quiet. I even shifted up my morning meditation routine and am doing breathwork again which has been so clearing and invigorating. Nothing changes if nothing changes!

And now, I feel like I’m finally coming out of my slump. A reminder that everything is temporary.

Another routine that I’ve been reconnecting with is affirmations. Cue the eye roll, I know, but hear me out. I first discovered affirmations nearly a decade ago. I would put sticky notes all around my apartment—on my bathroom mirror, by my bed, my morning coffee etc. I still do sometimes! But honestly, they weren’t doing the work they were meant to. I was just piling on positivity without fully acknowledging, bypassing, what was underneath. Working with hundreds of individuals over the years, helping them live and lead a more conscious life, I will say this is quite common.

The other morning, I stood in my kitchen gazing at the progress I’ve made designing my new loft. Mid-stuffing a fistful of grain-free granola into my mouth, I was hit with a wave of overwhelming emotion. Not the all-too-familiar grief, but deep, all-encompassing bliss. Shocked by my own state, I finished chewing as tears slowly streamed down my face. It wasn’t the Purely Elizabeth, but pure gratitude emanating from within me. Turns out grief isn’t the only emotion that comes in waves.

If you know me, you know this isn’t unusual. I’m a lover of life, the little things, and I have no shame in a good cathartic cry. Typical Cancer sun sign. But these spontaneous happy tears have been happening so frequently that they’re surprising even me! Especially given the jarring difference in disposition from where I was just a year ago. Married, depressed and running on a sliver of energetic and emotional capacity. I was a shell of myself.

We all genuinely have the power to change the course of our life, even if we feel completely stuck in a job, relationship, friend group etc. that isn’t serving you. The key? It starts with you and radical honesty.

No one came to save me. I saved me. And it was through meeting myself in this radical honesty (I’ll share the journey when the time feels right) that I finally made the decision that changed everything…walking away from my five-year relationship, in my first year of marriage, which eventually led me to my most abundant self & business yet. I have experienced newfound emotional safety, financial security, softness and now (finally!!!) play. Radical play, even.

Whether you’re bouncing back from a breakup or on the brink of a profound spiritual awakening, play (partying?) when approached with intention rather escapism can be just as transcendent as a sacred healing ceremony. This intersection of mystical and modern materialism is at the core of my work on wonder and feminine embodiment, and ultimately what my book is about. Play has been one of the most powerful channels of healing. Not to mention it is something my soul has been starving for more of over the past few years.

Despite lots of fun and levity lately, I did want to share one very vulnerable and unexpected moment of intense grief that made me realize something about what I thought I wanted in love vs. what I actually wanted. I wrote this stack yesterday overlooking a very moody Brooklyn and listening to the pitter patter of the rain on my two kitchen skylights. I still oscillate daily between “I can’t believe I live here” and “of course I live here.”

This year has been the year of holding two contradicting truths at once. To love, but to leave. To trust, but to also be terrified. To be in bliss, but also grief. For most of my life, I thought growth meant fixing and contorting these contradictions into one. Picking a side. But lately, I’ve been (re)learning that it’s how to hold these complexities at once without rushing to solve them.

We celebrated the summer solstice this past weekend and I’m not sure if it’s because I had a big weekend out—highly rec Le Dive for people watching in the west village and Faena for a Miami-inspired espresso martini—but this summer solstice felt softer, more playful. Around this time, I typically look at what’s being illuminated in my life so I can optimize. But this year felt different. Instead of asking where I needed to push harder, I found myself slowly surrendering more deeply into myself, my home and this season of life. That’s either trust or the tequila talking from the night before. Likely a bit of both.

I recently hired a personal organizer to help me settle in. An investment I never knew I needed and now will likely never live without. We met for a “purge” on the first day and I got rid of nearly 70% of my clothes. Things I’d been carrying for probably a decade but felt the need to hold onto. At the end of the day, I got a knock on my door. A TV show was filming on the roof and residents were getting an inconvenience fee… for the exact cost of my organizer. My jaw literally dropped in front of them. That’s exactly how energy works though, but it never ceases to amaze me! Here’s to continuing to let go of what no longer aligns to create the space to receive what is.

Which is exactly what I’ve been doing with 2ND HOUSE.

I’ve been wanting to write this stack for weeks (months?), but I’ve been allowing the business to “breathe” while I reground personally. After moving through a very challenging season marked by uncertainty, emotional extremes, and the constant pressure to prove myself, I’ve been reclaiming something far more valuable: self-trust.

This process has been a reason of why I’ve been so elusive about 2ND HOUSE in the first place. The evolution of my business isn’t separate from my divorce. If anything, the two are deeply intertwined.

There’s nothing quite like building a startup to reveal who can remain steady under pressure. The journey has a way of revealing truths. Weathering those storms early turned out to be one of the greatest gifts.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never in my life had a genuine moment of “this turned out better than I ever could have imagined”…until now.

I moved into my new loft on the eve of the New Moon in Taurus and my lease landed in my inbox the other day at 11:11am. I feel like a broken record about this, but these synchronicities never cease to amaze me and reaffirm that I’m on the right path.

But let me tell you, this dream didn’t just *poof* manifest into my life. At my friend Laura Rubin’s book launch party at Manolo Blahnik (so chic), a friend raved about how my life looked perfect post divorce. I nearly dropped my seltzer.

Yes, there have been bursts of what my coach calls “pent up potential,” but in the spirit of always being brutally honest with all of you, holy fucking hell. The past three months have been a doozy. A very intense season of both painful contraction and bouts of blissful expansion.

Last month, I unearthed some of the most intense patterns of codependency. I nearly broke down in a rental office in Greenpoint while they rattled off the cost of one-bedrooms in a neighborhood that takes me three trains to get just about anywhere. Cue my mind spiraling in limiting beliefs that were imprinted from my past, but were not my reality.

Through a 2.5 week cold in April (I swear sickness is a portal for energetic clearing) I unwound deep patterns of scarcity that were never mine to hold. A lot of this process looked like simply slowing down, feeling my feelings and finding greater awareness of these untruths. As someone who typically leans more cerebral and loves to work through things with a therapist or healer, this was a good reminder that not everything is meant to be intellectualized. I even started working with a new therapist and had the awareness that I was re-traumatizing myself and stopped. That’s growth.

So no, this journey has been far from perfect. I try my best to show up in the messy middle online, but when I’m grieving to the point where I feel like a part of my soul is dying, I don’t feel particularly called to pick up my phone and record myself. Sorry, not sorry. Perhaps this is why I’ve been able to hold two truths at once with such strength and resiliency though? Because I’ve been fully present, not performative, through the pain.

From this excavation, I’ve been able to create real space to connect to what I really want and leverage my pain into power, giving way to greater grit and momentum. I love the visualization of moving through peaks and valleys. The ups and downs create more speed than a steady, rigid climb or forcing yourself to stay at baseline, an illusion of safety.

Safety has been a really important theme in my life lately. It’s one of the most underrated foundations we can build within ourselves and with others. We can’t fully actualize our crown chakra (divine connection) if we don’t feel fully safe within our root chakra (home, nourishment, finances etc.). Over the past few months, I’ve reclaimed a good amount of safety within, building a new strong foundation by me for me. I feel like this was key in me moving into my this new home and next chapter.

Valentine’s Day looks a little different for me this year.

I honestly thought I would be in a place where I could speak more freely, but I’m just not there yet. As I said in a recent note, some experiences aren’t meant to be shared in real time, despite the pressure to process publicly. Certain chapters are meant to be kept close and sacred so lessons can fully land.

With that being said, over the past eight months, I’ve saved hundreds of quotes (from podcasts, Instagram and divine deep dives with friends) that have helped me navigate one of the most uncertain seasons of my life and in love.

Here are 50 quotes and questions that have helped me gain clarity, reclaim self-trust and most importantly, come back home to myself. I hope they help you as much as they helped me ❤️

January has a weird way of making us feel like we’re behind when we haven’t even started. What were my goals last year again? Where am I going? Who am I? If you’re feeling this, put your hands on your heart, take a deep exhale and drop back into the present moment. You are nothing to fix. Uncertainty is part of the daily human experience, and you’re still alive right?

It’s usually around this time (in the midst of week two) that the dust starts to settle. Also, The Year of the Horse doesn’t kick off until February, and the astrological New Year isn’t until March, so cut yourself some slack.

Winter is not a season to sprint through, it’s a season to slow down and build a solid foundation so you can take aligned action from a place of internal power and wisdom rather external pressure. Speaking to myself here too.

I started to do these year-in-reviews about five years ago. Honestly, more as a means of control, but over time, it’s evolved into one of my most powerful alignment practices. A homecoming if you will. I try to come back to it every quarter(ish) and have a check-in around my birthday. How are we meant to grow, if we aren’t actually contemplating life and extracting the lessons?

The key is not to over-intellectualize. Yes, this review is thorough. But you only do it once a year so you might as well dive deep. Just remember to ditch perfectionism and editorializing. This isn’t for anyone but you. Bullet, use shorthand etc. Truth over transcendence.

FIRST, SOME WINTER SEASON ENERGETICS

In Eastern Medicine, winter corresponds to the water element—fluid, multifaceted, constantly shifting shape. This season isn’t about forcing movement, it’s about creating the container you can flow within. This has been an ongoing theme for myself and a lot of my mentorship clients. How can your space, community, clothes etc. feel so undeniably you? You’re in the driver’s seat of your life. Or a nod to the horse, take the f*cking reins!

Winter is also linked to the kidneys and bladder, our energetic reservoirs which are associated with stillness, the heart and fear. So if you’ve felt more uncertain, fatigued or you’re asking yourself, “What the hell am I doing with my life?” It’s not random, it’s winter. And you’re doing yourself a disservice by pushing through rather than resting.

And note, if your nervous system is dysregulated, your goals will feel like threats. So slow down to speed up.

Lastly, Capricorn season reminds us it’s not just about slowly trekking up the mountain, but choosing the mountain. Which mountain are you climbing this year? This review helps us get clear, hone more discernment, and eventually, embodied devotion.

I started to write this newsletter from a sunlit corner of The Maker Hotel in Hudson, sipping an almond milk cappuccino with smooth jazz playing in the background. Now, I’m finishing it fireside at Hotel Lilien in their cozy mountain-chic living room. What can I say, hotels are my love language.

I’m grateful to have kickstarted my career in magazines, traveling the globe with the likes of Harper’s Bazaar and Marie Claire covering spiritual health and holistic hospitality back when it was far more granola than trendy. And now, 2nd House is starting to make it’s way into the hospitality world which is so exciting and full circle.

It’s funny how life makes sense in hindsight, but feels so messy and stressful when you’re in the thick of it. But, what if it all works out? (It will) What if you are exactly where you need to be? (You are)

This time of year is especially connected to deeper pondering—reflection, rituals and overall romanticizing life. Our halls literally decked with lights and holly, while the winter solstice is around the corner on the 21st, ready to chauffeur our souls into deeper stillness.

It’s easy to resist this energy. Especially as we get older and feel buried under seasonal soirees, responsibilities and the lofty goals we didn’t achieve for the year. I will never forget walking down the grocery store aisle five years ago, my heart absolutely shattered, in full scrooge-state, feeling the spontaneous urge to burn holiday wreaths like I do my Sunday sage. Anyone else? Alas, all is temporary and this year, despite it being a challenging one as well, feels very different.

I feel far more attuned to the mundane magic of life again. Breathing in the little light-filled things with more presence and gratitude. Likely a nod that I’m making the right big decisions.

I could list several reasons why I believe I feel this way, but I keep coming back to one thing I’ve changed this season specifically: how I approach work.

As a conscious entrepreneur, and ever since my healing journey, I imbue soul within pretty much all that I do. It’s not just a routine, or even a ritual, but truly a way of life.

Maybe it’s because I’m building 2nd House, a more tangible manifestation of all the soul-centered digital work that I’ve put out over the years. Or maybe it’s because the way I start and end work has become more sacred?

I’ve been playing with this idea for a few years now. We open portals to the divine and close them in ceremony, have rich morning and evening rituals, but what about the way we start and end work?

Opening and closing rituals in ceremony are crucial because they create strong containers and hold intention. Liken this to your auric field. If it’s always open, you’re screwed. Ha just kidding, but you do need strong boundaries and energetic hygiene or else you’ll unknowingly leak your precious charge and maybe even lose your sense of self—literally and figuratively. It’s all energy.

I can wholeheartedly say that my daily rituals are one of the biggest reasons why my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self has become so damn clear and centered—which has enabled my ability to connect with and channel spirit.

And may I note for all of you skeptics out there, there was a time where I wasn’t “spiritual”—girlbossing my way through the fashion industry and dancing on tables in Meatpacking, my body sugar-coated in stress.

We’re not here to hustle our way through life. Always reaching, clinging and chasing. We’re here to root in our most authentic self so we can become a magnet for what’s meant for us. It’s not about doing less, but how can we create from a regulated, embodied state so we can produce the most aligned results.

Devoting myself to my daily work ritual has been a way to drop into that state. It’s created more ease, productivity, and even abundance. More than that, it’s helped me trust that what I create will land in the hands it’s meant to, when it’s meant to. It’s as if I’m in the drivers seat, and spirit is holding the map in shot gun. I’m divinely guided. We all are. But really believing and connecting to that deep in your core is priceless.

So perhaps you test drive this transcendent work tool before you dive into your day, or maybe when you vision board or dream up your intentions for the year ahead.

Above all else, let my work ritual inspire you to create your own. There is literally no one like you with your unique energy, your unique power on this planet, in this universe.

I’m nodding, wide-eyed, as I write this with a “calm patch” stickered to my wrist. That line hits different every year. I adore my family, and yet nothing mirrors my growth edges like extended time together.

I’m currently watching the sun rise over the red, Mars-like mountains of Moab. It’s giving Sedona, but without the crown-chakra “vortex” activation. It’s my first time here. We’re hopping between national parks (cute right?) before heading back to Durango for the holiday.

Before we dive in, you can probably tell this isn’t a typical Objects of Affection. It’s a blend of musings from the past month woven with a roundup of products and practices that have been helping me drop deeper into presence over the holidays. My intention was to write my take on a gift guide, and this is what poured out. So per usual, I’m trusting the intuitive flow. Maybe Moab is more of a vortex than I realized.

This is my first extended time with family since the Hoffman Process, and I’m noticing everything more acutely—my patterns, triggers, growth. And yet, I still was plotting an early exit before I even got on the plane. The work is surely ever-evolving.

My family is genuinely so fun, grounded and cool though. I’ve just always been fiercely independent (moved to NYC at 17 to work at fashion magazines) and am very comfortable being alone. In my earlier years, I feel like that independence masked a bit of escapism—traveling, working, busying myself to avoid deeper emotional expression. Now, after learning embodied stillness is the true gateway to spirit, I understand that my desire for space isn’t avoidance, it’s authenticity. I know deep in my bones I’m here to be a bridge between the material and mystical worlds.

Alas, of course, I’m still human and still feel the annual holiday guilt. Perhaps some of you feel the same? Everyone gathers, and I long to retreat. While the world slows down, I yearn to tune inward into the quiet corners of my consciousness. Does that make me bad or wrong? That has certainly been projected onto me in the past. I’ve now learned to unhook from others’ expectations, while still acknowledging the blessing of family, and root back into my truth rather overextending or people pleasing. That’s been huge.

And to be clear, I’m not judging anyone’s traditions. If you genuinely love watching TV, scrolling, indulging and feel like your authentic self while doing it, go for it. It’s just not my thing. And contrary to what people assume, I’m not a rigid purist. I’m an intuitive eater, believe tequila can be transcendent in the right setting, and am down to microdose at a concert every now and then—as long as I’m not in my luteal phase.

The more I honor my own way, even when it breaks societal “shoulds,” the more me I feel. And the surprise? When I communicate all of this compassionately, my family receives it. They may not fully understand it, but they honor it. And that feels like healing.

Some things that help me stay grounded with family:

• Carving out intentional solo time prior to the trip (and communicating it in advance)

• Putting phones away together (in a basket in the kitchen works wonders)

• Conscious conversation cards

• Doubling down on meditation (when I’m not doing my own visualizations, I love this app. They’re having a promo for cycle syncing)

Recently, I heard Elizabeth Gilbert say on Tim Ferriss’ pod that she prefers solitude during the holidays too, and I felt seen. So I hope some of you feel that too.

On the other hand, connection is our birthright. We have partners, families and obligations. This season isn’t only about giving presence, it’s also about expressing love in tangible ways. And while many spiritualists swear off gift guides in the name of materialism (valid), I actually find something very fulfilling and even soulful about choosing a gift with real intention behind it.

The best gifts aren’t about price (and I curated the Harper’s Bazaar gift guides for years), they’re about resonance. Most of the time the most meaningful gifts cost nothing, but they feel like you. You feel seen and that’s the holiday magic we all really want.

So consider this a hybrid, a presence-meets-presents edit, where I share how these products help connect me more intentionally to myself and the world around me, plus a few out-of-the-box ideas for my cost-conscious ladies and gents.

“The veil is thin,” the mystics say in the spiritual newsletters stacked in my inbox. I’ve heard it for years, especially in October, but I’ve never truly felt what it meant.
