On May 15, 2019, Appleton firefighter Mitchell “Mitch” Lundgaard, 36, a 14-year veteran and father of three, responded with other first responders to a medical call at the Valley Transit Center. A man on a bus, later identified as Ruben Houston III, 47, of Wausau, was unresponsive (initially reported as a possible seizure).

Paramedics administered naloxone (Narcan) twice; he regained consciousness. After he left the bus, responders—including Lundgaard—tried to persuade him to go to the hospital because the naloxone effect is temporary and he had taken opioids (he admitted taking morphine pills).

About 22 minutes after exiting the bus, Houston pulled a concealed .380 handgun and opened fire.

Lundgaard was shot in the back/chest and died. An officer was wounded; a bystander used as a human shield was also shot and survived. Police returned fire and killed Houston. Toxicology later confirmed methamphetamine, fentanyl, and related substances in Houston’s system. Officers were cleared; the shooting was ruled justified.

Lundgaard was White (Wisconsin background, photos, family). Houston was Black (court records referenced race matching his prior identity as Ruben Huston; family statements and contemporary descriptions align with this). Houston had a long criminal record including firearms and drug felonies and was out on bond on a recent drug charge.

The shooting was not “immediate.” There was a period of conversation and attempts to get him medical care after revival. The shooting occurred after he became agitated about going to the hospital and when officers noted a bulge and attempted a pat-down. Investigators pointed to his choices and drug combination as the trigger.

Local outlets (Post-Crescent, NBC26, FOX affiliates, WISN), national (ABC News with bodycam video, New York Post), Associated Press, and later a detailed NIOSH line-of-duty-death report. Bodycam footage was released. It was treated as a tragic first-responder shooting, but the fact that a white responder was killed by the black man he had saved minutes before was not only buried by the media, but I could find no mention of it in the legacy media. Social-media filled in the blanks, adding racial framing original reporting ignored.

Had an officer killed Houston before he shot Lundgaard, the woke left might have treated him as a martyr the way they honor George Floyd.

Nine-year-old white boy fatally stabbed

For 9-year-old Michael Connor Verkerke, Aug. 4, 2014, began like an ordinary summer day. He was playing on a playground in Kentwood, Michigan, with his younger brother and another boy when 12-year-old Jamarion Lawhorn approached.

Minutes later, Connor was fatally stabbed.

The case would become one of the most closely watched murder prosecutions in Kent County because both the victim and defendant were children. Lawhorn was eventually convicted of first-degree murder, but the case also raised difficult questions about childhood trauma, responsibility and whether a young offender can change.

Some speculate that Lawhorn was given a pass because he was a negro and his young victim was Caucasian.

A sudden attack

According to court testimony, Lawhorn pulled a knife and attacked Connor while the children were playing. Connor managed to make his way home after being injured, but he died after being taken to a hospital.

Lawhorn left the area and contacted police, telling a dispatcher that he had stabbed someone. He was arrested and ultimately designated for prosecution as an adult within Michigan’s juvenile court system.

The prosecution’s case centered on the killing itself. There was little dispute that Lawhorn had caused Connor’s death. The major issue became his mental state and the circumstances surrounding his behavior.

Trial focused on Lawhorn’s childhood

By the time the case reached trial in 2015, Lawhorn was 13.

His defense argued that years of abuse and trauma had severely affected him and that he should not be held criminally responsible in the same way as an adult. Testimony also examined conditions in Lawhorn’s home and previous child-protection investigations.

Jurors rejected the defense and found Lawhorn guilty of first-degree murder.

The conviction did not end the debate over what should happen to a child convicted of killing another child.

A sentence built around rehabilitation

In November 2015, a judge imposed a blended sentence that included probation and eight years at a juvenile detention facility. The arrangement left open the possibility that Lawhorn could eventually avoid an adult prison sentence if he met the requirements of his rehabilitation program.

The sentence reflected an unusual balance: accountability for the death of Connor while recognizing that Lawhorn himself was still a child.

Lawhorn ultimately spent about six and a half years in custody. He was released March 1, 2021, nearly two years earlier than originally expected.

For the Verkerke family the central fact remains unchanged: Connor was nine years old when his life ended.

The case is a reminder that crimes committed by black children are common, relative to those of other major racial groups, and leave consequences that last far beyond a courtroom verdict.

While many black people are law abiding, the disproportionate number who commit violent crimes points to an inherent cause that can surface even in childhood.

Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Top 10 climate change prediction fails

Growing up in a fundamentalist Christian environment, I was convinced that Jesus would return during my lifetime. One of the biggest influences on me was The Late Great Planet Earth, Hal Lindsey’s bestselling 1970 book about biblical prophecy and the apocalypse. To me, the “signs of the times” seemed unmistakable. Even as an adult, nearly every major news headline seemed to fit the prophetic narrative, reinforcing my conviction that the Rapture was imminent. I found myself becoming angry when others dismissed these signs as nothing more than the ravings of religious fanaticism.

Now I find myself wondering: Why do we continue to believe in predictions and prophecies even after they have repeatedly failed? I found the answer—or answers—in a YouTube video titled, Why Religions Survive When Prophecies Fail.

In short the answer is, we continue to believe failed predictions because beliefs are often tied to identity, community, hope, and a desire for meaning—not evidence alone.

Repeated claims can also seem more credible simply because they become familiar, a phenomenon known as the illusory truth effect, “the tendency for any statement that is repeated frequently—whether it is factually true or not, whether it is even plausible or not—to acquire the ring of truth.”

When prophecies fail, believers often reinterpret them, blame a misunderstanding, or move the expected date rather than abandon the underlying belief. Admitting that a deeply held prediction was wrong can also create psychological discomfort (Cognitive Dissonance), forcing people to reconsider other beliefs built upon it. In this way, failed predictions can sometimes strengthen rationalization rather than destroy faith.

These tendencies can be observed in climate change alarmism. Ironically, climate change alarmists often dismiss religions as nonsense while clinging to beliefs that are equally or, sometimes, more nonsensical. In reality, climate change alarmism is a secular counterpart to the Second Coming.

In 2019, for example, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez warned that the world had roughly 12 years to address climate change, a rhetorical reference to the IPCC’s 2030 emissions target that she later clarified was not meant as a literal prediction of the world ending.

With that thought in mind, I turned to the internet to compile a top-10 list of failed climate-change “prophecies”—well-documented predictions whose deadlines have now passed:

1. Ice-free Arctic summer by 2013–2016

In 2007–2009, Naval Postgraduate School researcher Wieslaw Maslowski projected a nearly ice-free Arctic summer by 2013 (later revised to ~2016 ±3 years). Al Gore publicly cited similar 5-to-7-year windows around 2009. Peter Wadhams and others later pointed to 2015–2016. Summer sea ice has declined since satellite records began in 1979 and hit a record low in 2012, but the Arctic Ocean still has substantial ice every September.

2. Maldives underwater within 30 years (by ~2018)

In 1988, Maldives environmental officials and media reports warned that a 20–30 cm sea-level rise could be “catastrophic” and that the low-lying nation of 1,196 islands could be completely covered within 30 years. The islands remain inhabited; tourism and airport construction have continued. Sea-level rise is occurring, but the specific submergence timeline did not.

3. “Children just aren’t going to know what snow is” (within a few years of 2000)

University of East Anglia scientist David Viner told The Independent in March 2000 that winter snowfall in Britain would become “a very rare and exciting event” and that children would not know snow. Heavy snow events continued in the UK and across the Northern Hemisphere in subsequent decades.

4. Glacier National Park glaciers gone by 2020

U.S. Geological Survey projections from the early 2000s led to park signs warning that the glaciers would disappear by 2020. The signs were later removed; glaciers remain (though they have receded).

5. Kilimanjaro snow/ice gone by ~2015–2016

Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth (2006) highlighted the shrinking ice on Mount Kilimanjaro as a climate-change symbol with an implied near-term disappearance. Snow and ice persist on the mountain.

6. Entire nations wiped off the map by 2000 from sea-level rise

In 1989, UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) official Noel Brown told the Associated Press that entire nations could be obliterated by rising seas if the warming trend was not reversed by 2000. No sovereign nation disappeared.

7. New York’s West Side Highway underwater in 20–40 years (from 1988)

NASA’s James Hansen, in a 1988 interview, speculated that if CO₂ doubled, the West Side Highway along the Hudson would be underwater, windows taped against high winds, and local trees and birds changed. Sea level at New York has risen a few inches since then; the highway remains dry and in use. (Accounts differ on whether the timeframe was 20 or 40 years and whether it assumed doubled CO₂.)

8. No floating Arctic ice remaining by 2022

Harvard professor James Anderson stated in 2018 that, at the then-observed rate of volume loss, there would be no floating ice left in the Arctic Ocean by 2022. Ice remains.

9. “Point of no return” by 2016

In 2006 Al Gore said that without major policy action within ten years the world would reach a point of no return. Emissions continued to rise after 2016; the specific irreversibility deadline passed without the claimed threshold event.

10. Major European cities underwater / Britain with a “Siberian” climate by 2020

A 2004 Pentagon-commissioned scenario paper warned of possible abrupt climate shifts producing flooded European cities and a Siberian climate in Britain by around 2020. Neither occurred.

Other frequently cited misses include 1970s media and some scientific papers forecasting a new ice age by 2000, polar-bear population collapse (numbers rose after hunting restrictions), and various “X years left to save the planet” statements from politicians and activists whose clocks expired. Many of these were individual or media-amplified statements rather than formal IPCC consensus projections. Climate science continues to update models as new data arrives; failed short-term catastrophe dates do not by themselves prove or disprove the underlying greenhouse-gas physics.

U.N. climate offices have moved from short countdown warnings to a finance campaign built around adaptation and resilience.

UNEP’s Adaptation Gap Report, released Oct. 29, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya, said developing countries will need $310 billion to $365 billion a year by 2035. They received about $26 billion in international public adaptation funds in 2023. President Donald Trump said Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, that Chicago, Illinois, “will die” unless Mayor Brandon Johnson or Gov. JB Pritzker invite federal help after a violent weekend.

Chicago police counted 41 people shot and three killed in 22 incidents from Friday through Sunday. The standout attack came late Saturday, Aug. 30, in Washington Park on the South Side, where 15 people were shot as officers tried to break up a gathering.

Rontonio Guterz, 35, of Chicago, died; the wounded ranged from 21 to 47. It was the city’s largest mass shooting of 2026. Trump said violence was “out of control,” pointed to drops he credits in Washington, D.C., and said he is awaiting the call.

French patriot and Elon Musk-back Marine Le Pen may be France’s next president.

A Paris appeals court on July 7, 2026, upheld Marine Le Pen’s embezzlement conviction but shortened her ban on holding office, clearing her to run in France’s 2027 presidential election.

She announced her candidacy that night. The first round is April 18, 2027, with a possible May 2 runoff. Polymarket then often listed her as the leading name, with late-summer prices in the low-to-mid 30 percent range—ahead of or close to Édouard Philippe.

A yes-or-no contract on her winning traded near 33 percent. On July 15, Elon Musk called her “France’s last hope.” National Rally said French voters, not foreign executives, would decide.

Democrats seem to think we dwell too much on the 9-11 attacks.

Nearly 25 years after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania, polls show Democrats and Republicans differ on how much the country should dwell on that day.

A 2024 Rasmussen survey found 48 percent of likely voters think many Americans have forgotten the attacks’ impact.

Democrats were less likely to agree (37 percent) than Republicans (57 percent).

Most adults still recall where they were that morning. A 2022 poll found Democrats more often link the aftermath to mistreatment of Muslim Americans.

40 black-on-white homicide reports found in August, 2026

According to statistics provided by the FBI, 58.2 percent of homicides in 2018 were committed by blacks who comprise about 13 percent of the population. Considering that most homicides are committed by males ages 17 to 49, we estimate that about half of all homicides in the USA are committed by young black males ages 17 to 49 who comprise about five percent of the population. That same year 39 percent of homicides were committed by whites who comprise about 72 percent of the population.

According to information provided by American Renaissance, “In 2013, of the approximately 660,000 crimes of interracial violence that involved blacks and whites, blacks were the perpetrators 85 percent of the time. This meant a black person was 27 times more likely to attack a white person than vice versa.”

About 47 black-on-white homicides occur each month in America.

That’s based on FBI statistics for 2019, the most recent data available [source].

Annually, that’s about 566 black-on-white homicides. Divided by 12 months, the average is, again, 47 per month.

For clarity, these only include single-victim/single-offender murders where the race is known to and disclosed by law enforcement.

A Tucson, Arizona, woman died July 29 from injuries sustained in a July 24 patio assault. Susan Marie Gehrke, 61, was struck by Dahseir Edward Jefferson, 27, who also injured a male companion. Gehrke suffered a brain bleed after the punch knocked her down and broke her dentures. Jefferson was arrested July 28 and now faces a second-degree murder charge. He is held on $650,000 bond while the investigation continues. [Full report ►]

Douglas James Nelson, 63, of Pickens, South Carolina, was shot and killed on Aug. 8, 2026. Deputies responded to a 911 call around 5:40 p.m. and found him with an upper-body gunshot wound. He died at the scene despite emergency efforts. Authorities charged 33-year-old Soshinque Barney White with murder and a weapons violation. She is held without bond. An autopsy is planned as the investigation continues in Pickens County. Their relationship, if any, was not disclosed. [Full report ►]

Fredrick K. Lytton, 56, of Nashville, Tennessee, died Aug. 4, 2026, after a coworker shot him multiple times at a U-Haul facility. The dispute began over a drink. Devin A. Rice, 23, fled the scene but was arrested the next day and charged with criminal homicide. He admitted the argument and shooting. Lytton died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Reports say Lytton was shot multiple times in the back as he walked away. The investigation continues. [Full report ►]

Carla Murray and her black husband Raheim Murray were fatally shot in their North Carolina home in mid-July 2026 and buried near a nature trail. Jamar Propst and Tosha Lewis face first-degree murder charges. Warrants say Lewis learned of a $75,000 inheritance, left a door open, and Propst shot the sleeping couple. The pair later transferred $19,000 from a victim’s account and moved into the home. Both are held without bond. Apparent higher average rates of Dark Triad traits (Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy) within among blacks give a statistical basis for greater caution and lower default trust. On Aug. 11, 2026, in Winfield, Kansas, Ronald Williams, 53, called 911 to say he had killed his family. Officers found him, Kelly George, 44, and their four children ages 3 to 9 dead from gunshots. The KBI later determined both parents jointly planned the children’s deaths and their own. George had purchased the revolver used. The investigation remains open. [Full report ►]

One-year-old Mason Anders Moulding died July 27, 2026, in Scottsville, Kentucky, after first responders found him unresponsive. Authorities later charged 22-year-old Deavan Williams with murder and arrested Mason’s mother, Alexandrea Price, and grandmother, Tina Price, on criminal abuse and related charges. Investigators reported severe neglect and unsafe living conditions. Alexandrea Price was reported to be Williams’ girlfriend. [Full report ►]

James Randall Myers, 43, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, was fatally shot in Brunswick shortly after midnight on Aug. 16, 2026. Officers responding after hearing what sounded like a gunshot encountered a man running from the area and detained him following a brief foot chase. Police identified the man as 20-year-old Jason Middlebrooks of Brunswick, who faces murder and several other charges.

Investigators said a stolen firearm and vehicle recovered with Middlebrooks were not connected to the shooting. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting local detectives. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.

On February 23, 2020, 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery, a male negro, was fatally shot in a neighborhood near Brunswick, Georgia. Three white men—Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael, and their neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan—were arrested and convicted of racially motivated hate crimes [source]. Laurie Ann Gilchrist, 61, was killed Aug. 12, 2026, during a shooting in Mobile, Alabama. Police said Devin Kelly, 30, was responsible for the shooting, which also left a man and woman seriously injured. Kelly was later arrested in Greenville and returned to Mobile County. He faces capital murder, two counts of attempted murder and first-degree domestic violence charges.

According to reports from WKRG News 5 and the Mobile County District Attorney, Abbie Gilchrist and Kelly shared two young children together. The children were present inside the home during the August 2026 shooting on Elm Circle but were physically unharmed.

Cordell Gilchrist (Survivor): Shot twice and seriously injured; he was Abbie’s brother and Laurie’s son.

A woman with an academic background connected to the study of violent behavior among adolescents has allegedly been killed by two young males. Tamela D. Dutcher, 55, was fatally shot in Delaware, Ohio, shortly after midnight Aug. 14, 2026. Investigators arrested Christian Evans, 20, and Dajameous Payne, 21, on murder charges. Dutcher’s 18-year-old daughter, Bryanna Dutcher, was arrested on an obstruction charge. Authorities have not released every detail of the investigation, and all criminal allegations remain subject to court proceedings and the presumption of innocence under law. [Full report ►]

Ellis O’Neil “Rawhide” Brown Jr., 67, was killed Aug. 9, 2026, inside his home in the Loris area of Horry County, South Carolina. Police later charged his black 19-year-old grandson, Jamarius O’Neil Brown, with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Investigators have not publicly disclosed what led to the shooting. Reports did not indicate which of Jamarius’s parents is white, nor whether he was adopted. Jason Kaplan, 25, was fatally shot during a late-night disturbance in Janesville, Wisconsin, on Aug. 9. Four men face homicide-related charges: Mantezz Granger, 20; Demetrius Cooper, 19; Tyshawn Howe, 19; and Marshaun Jones, 21. Charles Crenshaw III, 20, was arrested on a probation violation while his possible involvement remained under investigation. Otis Keith Pearce Jr., 33, of Augusta, Georgia, was fatally shot late Aug. 19, 2026, during an altercation, according to authorities. Pearce was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. Richmond County deputies arrested David Mosley, 65, at the scene. Mosley faces murder and firearm charges. Investigators say the men were acquaintances, and the case remains under investigation. Billy Wooten III, 25, of Fairmont, West Virginia, was fatally shot early Aug. 16, 2026. Kourtni Yeager, 31, and Katina C. Spells, 42, died Aug. 9 in Canton, Ohio. Police charged Darrell Washington with aggravated murder; two others face charges connected to fire and investigation. The women were found dead after firefighters responding to an apartment fire in Canton discovered them. Police say Yeager and Spells had suffered gunshot wounds and severe burns. Washington faces aggravated murder and aggravated arson charges. Eric Lamar and Melissa Terrell face charges tied to the fire and alleged effort to conceal evidence and subsequent police investigation.

Tegan Daigle, 17, and Jared Downey, 21, were killed Aug. 21, 2026, in Gonzales, Louisiana. Police said officers found both victims after responding to reports of gunfire shortly after 4 p.m. Investigators later arrested 17-year-old Joseph Appiah of Prairieville and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder. Two additional people were identified as persons of interest as the investigation continued, as well as other related charges.

On August 22, 2026, in Mays Landing, New Jersey, a stolen Mercedes G-Wagon struck a sedan head-on, killing Alice Stilwell, 67, and her longtime partner Robert “Bob” Barr Jr., 54. Stilwell was a hairdresser nearing retirement; Barr drove a school bus. Nayshaun Brown, 18, and three juveniles face charges including aggravated assault conspiracy, joyriding, and eluding after earlier police contacts with the vehicle. Investigation continues. On Aug. 8, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 27-year-old Jacob Gordon Klotz was fatally shot outside a nightclub after intervening in an argument. The Allen County coroner ruled the death a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds. Austin Rinker, 28, faces a murder charge stemming from the early-morning confrontation. Klotz was unarmed. Lamesha Norman was killed during a reported dispute in South Fulton, Georgia, on Aug. 21, 2026. Police responding shortly before midnight found Norman suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities arrested Domina Brown, 40, and charged her with murder. On Aug. 14, 2026, Sultana High seniors Maddalyn Dailey, 17, and Isabell Hill, 16, died in a Victorville, California, crash after two speeding cars struck their vehicle. Prosecutors charged Apple Valley resident Terry Lamar Easter, 50, with two murder counts, street racing, and child cruelty, saying he reached 117 mph and fled, leaving an 8-year-old in the car. William Simon, a twenty-three-year-old father of three was killed in Tacoma, Washington, during a shooting early Aug. 7, 2026. Police found Simon suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene. Investigators later arrested three suspects: 18-year-old Amanuel Piyo, a 17-year-old boy and adult suspect Bul Ajak Bul. Thomas Zollicoffer, 36, faces homicide charges and trial. 39-year-old Shamarla Hare, a negro, was also fatally shot. Police classified the shooting as domestic-violence related. Court papers identify Zollicoffer as her former live-in boyfriend. Bucholz, who would have turned 30 in October, was a close friend. Family members said he tried to step in during the dispute. Stephen Pope, 37, was shot dead in Pensacola, Florida, on Aug. 13, 2026. Roommate Will Bryant, 31, is charged with second-degree murder and held without bond. The media described them as boyfriends. [Full report ►]

Josh Gillis, 36, was found dead in a burning vehicle in Tifton, Georgia. Three suspects, Robert Louis Brown, 41, Aiyah Foster, 25, and Derrick Lamar Britt Jr., 33, now face murder and related charges. Tift County Sheriff’s Office deputies were sent to the area after receiving a report that a vehicle was burning. When they arrived, they found Gillis deceased inside the vehicle. Investigators determined he had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. Ocala police officers responded around 5:30 p.m. on August 11, 2026 to a report of a shooting inside King’s Food Mart at 149 SW Martin Luther King Avenue. They found 45-year-old Ean Stein, a white Ocala resident and employee in training, suffering from gunshot wounds. Stein was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Updates and missed stories

Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Caleb Eisworth died Aug. 10, 2025, after suffering critical injuries in an intentional vehicle attack on June 16. Eisworth was riding his police motorcycle while traveling to a funeral procession when a truck struck him. According to WFAB, “The man accused of intentionally ramming into a police officer Monday morning allegedly later bragged about it in a social media post, WAFB Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto reports. ‘Just stretched one on Joor Rd.,’ the post said.”

Investigators arrested Gad Black, 42. After a series of courtroom outbursts and a diagnosed history of schizophrenia, a judge found Black mentally incompetent to stand trial.

The 44-year-old officer had served the Baton Rouge Police Department for 23 years and earned multiple honors, including the department’s Medal of Valor. [Full report ►]

Dr. Beth Potter, 52, and her husband, Robin Carre, 57, were killed March 30, 2020, in Madison, Wisconsin. Their bodies were found the next morning at the University of Wisconsin Arboretum. Khari Sanford, the boyfriend of their adopted daughter, was convicted of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in 2022 and sentenced to life without parole. Ali’jah Larrue also pleaded guilty to felony murder charges. The couple’s adopted daughter was not criminally charged. [Full report ►]

Lauren McCluskey, a 21-year-old University of Utah student-athlete, was killed Oct. 22, 2018, outside her residence hall in Salt Lake City. She had recently ended a brief relationship after discovering troubling information about the man she was dating. Police later identified him as Melvin Rowland, who died by suicide after fleeing the campus. McCluskey’s death prompted an independent review of university procedures and campus response. As with all such cases, it is bewildering how attractive and intelligent white women fall for males whose very appearance is a red flag. [Full report ►]

Deandre Lashun Fuller, 28, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, received four life sentences without parole on Aug. 14 for the Oct. 25, 2020, killings of Kelli Curran and Timothy Thompson. The couple invited two men inside after they claimed car trouble; one then shot both victims. A third man joined the theft of guns and a safe. White-on-black homicides

Black-on-white homicides far outnumber white-on-black homicides. That disparity does not change the duty to report each case fairly and accurately. Some white-on-black killings are legally justified. Some are accidental. Others are crimes, and they should be treated case by case.

Ramon Harris — Atlanta, Georgia

Ramon Harris, 29, was killed Aug. 23, 2026, during a confrontation along Atlanta’s Beltline, according to police and local news reports. Investigators say Harris was fatally stabbed during an argument involving 54-year-old Johnathan Hamby. Officers responding to the scene found Harris suffering from a stab wound to the neck. Hamby was taken into custody and later faced a murder charge. Police said the investigation included witness accounts, 911 calls and evidence recovered at the scene. Harris was known locally as an artist and skateboarder, and people who knew him described him as someone who pursued creative interests and enjoyed spending time around Atlanta’s skateboarding community.

John “JJ” Mathis — Pampa, Texas

John “JJ” Mathis, 48, of Pampa, Texas, died after being shot Aug. 11, 2026, at a city park. Police were called at about 9:45 a.m. and found Mathis suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in the Amarillo area in serious condition, but his injuries proved fatal. Mathis died during the early morning hours of Aug. 12, and an autopsy was ordered. Investigators arrested Christian Leith, 28, in connection with the shooting. After Mathis died, Leith faced a murder charge. The investigation involved Pampa police, the Texas Rangers, the Gray County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Charles Holliday — Columbus, Ohio

Charles Holliday, 37, was fatally shot Aug. 10, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio, following an argument between two men. Police were called shortly before 11 a.m., and Holliday was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators identified 40-year-old Kevin Meeker as the suspect and said witnesses reported seeing him carrying a rifle before the confrontation. Court records indicate the two men argued shortly before Holliday was shot. Meeker was taken into custody and charged with murder. Holliday’s obituary identified him as Charles James Holliday, also known as “KA$H,” and said he had aspirations of becoming a businessman, owning a trucking company and making music.

Paxton Barnett — Springfield, Missouri

Paxton Barnett, 32, of Springfield, Missouri, died Aug. 9, 2026, after being shot during an incident that investigators said began with a physical altercation. Springfield police were called shortly before 8 p.m. and found Barnett suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. Investigators identified 36-year-old Darvin Toman as the suspect. Toman was arrested by Greene County sheriff’s deputies and later charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Barnett was a lifelong Springfield resident, according to his obituary. Detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.

Kaderrien Dorsey — Greenville, Mississippi

Kaderrien Dorsey was killed Aug. 9, 2026, in Greenville, Mississippi, after police responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex. Officers arrived and found Dorsey suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Police and paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but Dorsey was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later identified Samantha Rape as a suspect. Rape was arrested and charged with one count of murder, according to the Greenville Police Department. Authorities said the investigation remained active as they worked to determine what led to the shooting. Dorsey’s case was among the fatal incidents reported in Greenville during a period when police were handling several serious investigations.

TOPEKA, Kan. — In the first minutes of Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, Topeka police found Joshua Anthony Stockman, 18, unresponsive in southeast Topeka. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives worked the case through the week. Jail records show Erwin Tyrone Lockridge Jr., 23, of Topeka, entered the Shawnee County Jail at 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29. Topeka police said the booking grew out of the Stockman investigation.

Lockridge is being held on a $1.5 million bond in connection with first-degree murder, described as intentional and premeditated, and a count of recklessly discharging a firearm at an occupied dwelling. Reporting based on jail records said formal charges had not been filed as of Aug. 30. He also is held on a $75,000 bond in a separate case. Details of that second matter have not been released.

No motive was reported.

Stockman lived in Topeka. Relatives called him a son whose adult years had barely started. The day after his death, family members started a GoFundMe page seeking help with funeral and burial costs. They asked for enough money to lay him to rest with care. By the following afternoon, donations had already covered most of a $9,000 goal.

Police released his name on Aug. 25. Until then, he was listed only as an unidentified shooting victim.

Dispute over an impounded vehicle turns deadly

TULSA, Oklahoma — Mike and Mary Moore went to work Friday morning at the towing business they operated together. By the end of the day, both were dead, and a dispute over a vehicle had become a double-homicide investigation.

The shooting happened Aug. 28 at Mike’s Towing in Tulsa. Police said Darius Jones, a negro, and two other people arrived at the business to retrieve a vehicle that had been impounded. What began as a disagreement eventually became physical inside the office, according to investigators.

Police describe confrontation inside business

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage as they worked to establish the order of events.

According to the police account reported by local news outlets, Jones allegedly pulled a firearm and pointed it at Mike Moore. Moore then drew his own weapon. Authorities said Jones fired, striking both Mike and Mary.

Mike was able to return fire and hit Jones in the arm before he was overcome by his injuries. Mary died at the business. Mike was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Jones was also hospitalized for treatment before being taken into custody. The Moores were Caucasians.

Jones now faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Mike and Mary Moore. The charges are allegations, and the case must proceed through the court system before guilt can be determined.

A family changed in a matter of hours

The shooting came only months after Mike and Mary finalized the adoption of their 12-year-old daughter, according to Catoosa First Church, which identified the couple after their deaths. The church described the Moores as people who regularly helped others and were devoted to serving those around them.

That detail adds another dimension to a case already marked by the sudden loss of two parents. The couple were not only married; they were business partners who had built their lives around their family and their work.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including what led to the physical altercation and the shooting. My first guess would be a combination of impulsivity, psychopathy, and stupidity on the part of the offender. Vanessa Rheanne DeHerrera, 26, and Scott Bucholz, 29, both Caucasians, were killed Aug. 8, 2026, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Police classified the shooting as domestic-violence related. Prosecutors later charged Thomas S. Zollicoffer, 36, a negro, with first-degree intentional homicide.

DeHerrera left two young sons. Relatives said she had been trying to leave an on-and-off relationship. Court papers identify Zollicoffer as her former live-in boyfriend. Bucholz, who would have turned 30 in October, was a close friend. Family members said he tried to step in during the dispute.

What police say happened

Officers were called shortly before 10 p.m. Both victims died that night. Several other people were present when the argument turned fatal, according to a criminal complaint.

Detectives tied that shooting to a second killing later the same evening.

Zollicoffer was arrested Aug. 11 after an hourlong standoff. In an interview the next day, the complaint says, he admitted shooting DeHerrera and Bucholz. He first said he meant only to wound her, then said he “lost it.” He said he shot Bucholz after the two exchanged words.

“Lost it” suggests the shooter struggled with impulsivity, a trait that seems common in negroes.

Those statements remain allegations.

The case in court

Prosecutors filed multiple felony counts, including three first-degree intentional homicide charges from that night. Conviction on those homicide counts carries a possible life sentence. A court commissioner set bail at $1 million.

On Aug. 24, the case was bound over for trial. Two other people also face charges for allegedly helping him afterward, including a driver and a relative accused of giving him a place to stay.

A judge later restricted most of Zollicoffer’s jail communications after prosecutors said he tried to pressure a witness. His lawyers have not offered a public defense beyond the presumption of innocence.

What a jury will decide

The public file is short. A mother of two and a friend who tried to intervene were killed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Aug. 8, 2026. Charging documents describe jealousy, an argument, and a confession. A trial is scheduled to test those claims.

Tacoma police were called to a parking garage shortly after 2 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers found Simon, who was a Caucasian, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and attempted to provide medical assistance. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators soon learned that another man had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. That man, identified as 18-year-old Amanuel Piyo, a negro from Kent, was later arrested after detectives determined he was connected to the shooting. He faces charges of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery.

What investigators say happened

According to charging documents, the shooting followed an alleged attempt by several people to take Simon’s handgun. Witness accounts described a confrontation in which Simon and others exchanged gunfire.

Investigators allege Simon fired twice and struck at least one person. At least one person then returned fire, killing Simon. Court documents say Simon sustained eight to nine gunshot wounds.

The circumstances leading to the confrontation remain an important part of the investigation, and the allegations have not been established as facts at trial.

Two additional arrests

The case expanded during the following weeks.

On Aug. 12, police arrested a 17-year-old boy who was subsequently booked into Remann Hall on a first-degree murder charge. Authorities later identified a third suspect, adult male Bul Ajak Bul, who was arrested Aug. 18 and booked into the Pierce County Jail. Bul faces first-degree murder and first-degree robbery charges.

Piyo, the first suspect arrested, had appeared in court and entered a not-guilty plea through his attorney. His bail was set at $1 million, according to reporting on the case.

Tacoma police continue to describe the investigation as active. The case will ultimately depend on evidence presented in court, where each defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

DARLINGTON, S.C. — Two 15-year-olds were riding their bikes home from a pool party Saturday night, Aug. 1, 2026, when a car struck them in Darlington County, South Carolina. Jonathan “JJ” Colon did not survive.

Colon, a rising freshman at Darlington High School, was one of three boys on bicycles. The driver of a 2014 Dodge Avenger hit two of them and kept going. Colon’s cousin, also 15, was injured and remained in the hospital, where family members said he might need surgery. The third boy was not hit.

Charges Follow Quick Identification

24-year-old Travis Timmons, who has a shopping list of past offenses, was charged by South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers with hit-and-run resulting in death, hit-and-run with personal injury, driving under suspension, operating an unregistered vehicle, having an open container and violating probation. Authorities booked him Sunday at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.

Timmons was already on probation after a February conviction in Florence for second-degree assault and battery. That supervision was set to last until December 2027. He also had a pending traffic warrant in Georgia.

Psychopaths and sociopaths typically show little regard for laws or social rules. It is not known if Timmons has been evaluated for mental disorders.

The victim was white. The alleged offender is black.

Judge Keeps Suspect in Custody

At a Sunday bond hearing, a judge denied release. A Highway Patrol victims advocate told the court Timmons’ record showed a pattern of assault. Timmons answered questions but did not discuss the crash itself. He said he had lived in Darlington County, Horry County and Georgia in recent years and was staying with his grandmother.

Troopers collected a blood sample to check whether Timmons had been drinking. The investigation remains active.

Colon’s family described him as a student looking ahead to high school. The crash happened as the boys headed home after an ordinary summer evening. I think it tragic that our best and brightest are eliminated by those who are often called carp or bottom feeders.

His father, Nan Zhong, a first-generation immigrant from China, treats that split as more than bad luck. Beginning in February 2025, father and son filed federal civil rights cases against the University of California system, the University of Washington, the University of Michigan, and Cornell University. They say race raised the hurdle for strong Asian American applicants, including Stanley.

From campus mail to four courthouses

The first complaint landed Feb. 11, 2025, in the Eastern District of California. The University of Washington suit followed Feb. 21 in Seattle. Michigan and Cornell cases were filed later that winter. The papers lean on Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related claims. Nan Zhong also sued as next friend for a younger son.

Racial-balancing rules look to me like discrimination against Whites, sold as equity. The usual pitch is that Whites earn more, so they must be an oppressor bourgeois class. East Asian household income, which on average exceeds White household income, makes that story untenable.

Stanley had acceptances from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Maryland. He started at Texas, then took the Google role. Early filings were prepared without a firm after many lawyers passed; counsel later appeared on some dockets.

What the Seattle judge allowed

On Aug. 7, 2026, U.S. District Judge James L. Robart granted in part and denied in part the University of Washington’s motion to dismiss. Stanley’s Title VI claim against the university survives. Some damages claims against officials in their individual capacities, and a request for forward-looking injunctive relief, also remain. The judge dismissed Nan Zhong’s personal claims for lack of standing and dropped other counts under sovereign immunity.

The order is not a finding that the school broke the law. It holds only that the Title VI theory is plausible enough to go past the pleading stage.

Discovery, and the school’s reply

A university spokesperson said officials were pleased the court cut many claims and two of three plaintiffs. Admission to the computer science program is fiercely competitive, the school said, and Washington’s flagship campus gives preference to state residents over most out-of-state applicants.

Nan Zhong said the live claim lets the family seek internal admissions records. The university answered on Aug. 21, 2026. The California, Michigan, and New York cases continue on separate calendars.

The argument could be made that universities should be free to enroll whomever they want. Those that use a merit-based model will outpace those who prefer the far-left’s notion of equity. The free market will solve the issue through something akin to natural selection.

Crash kills two white teenage girls; black male charged with two counts of murder

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — Maddalyn Dailey had one short stop before dinner. She told her father she would take her best friend, Isabell Hill, home and come right back. On Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, that ride in Victorville, California, was never completed.

Two other cars traveling at extreme speed struck the vehicle Dailey was driving. Both girls died at the scene. Dailey was 17. Hill was 16. They were seniors at Sultana High School and had been close since elementary school. Family members called them Maddy and Izzy.

From a crash case to homicide counts

Two weeks later, prosecutors treated the deaths as more than a wreck.

On Friday, Aug. 28, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office charged Terry Lamar Easter, 50, of Apple Valley with two counts of murder. The office also charged him with engaging in a motor vehicle speed contest and willful child cruelty.

Authorities say Easter was driving a yellow Chevrolet Camaro and reached 117 mph. An 8-year-old child was in the car with him. After the impact, Easter left the child behind and fled, District Attorney Jason Anderson said.

“This was not an accident,” Anderson said. He described racing at that speed as a deliberate and extraordinarily dangerous choice that ended two young lives and put Easter’s own child in harm’s way.

Easter turned himself in to Victorville police on Aug. 26, a day after the California Highway Patrol announced a $1 million warrant. Bail was set at $1 million. Court records listed no attorney for him.

A second driver is also charged

Investigators say a Camaro and a Dodge Charger were moving at extremely high speeds before both hit the teens’ Acura. George Gary Sanchez, 49, of Riverside, was arrested soon after the crash. Officials identified him as the Dodge driver and booked him on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter.

While looking for Easter, detectives also detained three other people as suspected accessories after the fact. Those three cooperated and were later released, CHP said.

Seniors with the year still ahead

Dailey lived in Victorville. Hill lived in nearby Hesperia. Family fundraisers described Dailey as a student who had only just started her senior year. Relatives remembered Hill as funny, smart, and grounded in her faith.

Dustin Dailey, Maddalyn’s father, said she left to take Hill home and planned to return for dinner. He heard the collision minutes later.

Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene. Separate GoFundMe pages were created to help the families with funeral and memorial costs.

Anderson said his office intends to hold Easter responsible for every life his alleged actions devastated.

Race does not seem to be a factor.

According to police, gunfire was exchanged between Megginson and responding officers. Neither Megginson nor the officers was struck during that exchange. Additional law enforcement agencies, including Virginia State Police, were brought in as the situation progressed.

Authorities eventually took Megginson into custody at about 9:04 a.m. He was transported to a medical facility for evaluation following his arrest. Virginia State Police assumed the lead role in the investigation.

Megginson initially faced a felony charge of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. The charges now include two counts of aggravated murder, eight counts of using a firearm during a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, five counts of attempted aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer, shooting in public that caused injury and two counts of brandishing a firearm. He also faces an additional charge from Bristol police.

Investigators have indicated the case may be related to a domestic disturbance. That aspect of the investigation remains under review, and authorities have not released a complete account of what led to the confrontation.

Young Marine and social media influencer killed in crash

For Landon Dunn, a 20-year-old U.S. Marine, a trip through Montgomery, Alabama, ended in a fatal crash early Saturday morning.

Dunn was one of two people killed in a two-vehicle collision on Aug. 22. The other victim was 26-year-old Alyshia Rushing, a social media creator known online as “Mama-A.”

“Rushing was a 26-year-old mother of four with nearly 550,000 followers on TikTok,” according to AL.com. My Google search confirmed she was black. She turned 26 on August 6.

A passenger traveling with Rushing survived and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police respond to early-morning collision

Montgomery police and emergency crews were called to the crash shortly after 2 a.m. Officers found Dunn, who had been driving a 2015 Toyota Tacoma, suffering from fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Rushing, who was driving a 2013 Kia Sorento, also died.

A preliminary crash report obtained by WSFA provided additional information about what happened. Investigators said Rushing’s SUV was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-85 when it collided head-on with Dunn’s pickup. The report did not list the speed of either vehicle.

The investigation has not yet answered every question surrounding the collision. Authorities are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results, and police have not announced a final determination about the circumstances leading to the crash.

Dunn remembered as a Marine

Dunn’s death has also drawn attention to the young man behind the police report. According to a fundraiser established by a family friend, Dunn was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Family social media posts indicated he had been traveling from North Carolina toward Greenville to visit relatives.

The Montgomery Police Department continues to investigate the crash. For now, the known facts are limited: two drivers died, another person was injured, and investigators are still working to establish the complete sequence of events.

Who was Cheddar Man?

Roommate fatally shot in Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Authorities in Escambia County charged a local man this month in connection with the fatal shooting of his partner. The suspect is black. His roommate was white. The media described them as boyfriends.

Studies focusing on sexual orientation breakdown report that the rate of serious violent crime against male homosexuals is notably higher (roughly 19.2 per 1,000 people) compared to heterosexual males (around 6.8 per 1,000 people).

Stephen Pope, 37, died after suffering a shotgun wound to the head. Investigators said Will Bryant, 31, fired the shot while Pope lay in bed inside the home the two shared. Deputies and detectives took Bryant into custody late on Aug. 13, 2026, shortly after the body was located.

The sequence began when Bryant went to Pope’s parents early that morning. He appeared distressed and told them their son was dead. Pope’s father then accompanied Bryant back to the residence, entered the home and confirmed the death. The father placed the 911 call. Officers who arrived noted that Pope had been deceased for some time prior to the report.

A search of Bryant’s vehicle turned up a 12-gauge shotgun, along with shells, a gun lock, related parts and a sales receipt showing the weapon had been bought on June 29, 2026. Testing linked the shotgun to spent shells recovered at the scene. Officers also observed a substance on Bryant’s clothing that tested positive for human blood.

Records show Bryant had contacted the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in the days leading up to the incident. On Aug. 4 he claimed neighbors were part of the FBI and harassing him. On Aug. 12 he reported that his roommate was trying to frame him for murder; deputies found no one present when they responded and closed the matter without a full report. Pope’s parents earlier told investigators that Bryant had visited them about two weeks before the shooting, upset and saying Pope had returned to using methamphetamine or a similar substance, which strained their relationship.

One report said Bryant didn’t remember shooting Pope. That is one of several dindonuffin defenses commonly used by black offenders. These include:

Court documents list a charge of second-degree murder. Bryant remains held without bond at the Escambia County Jail.

Stolen vehicle crash claims longtime partners

Alice Stilwell, 67, and Robert “Bob” Barr Jr., 54, both of Egg Harbor Township, died in the crash. The pair had shared more than two decades together. Stilwell worked as a hairdresser. She had begun easing into retirement. Barr drove a school bus for the Egg Harbor Township School District.

Authorities say the crash happened around 7:50 a.m. when a 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, valued at roughly $220,000, traveled south in the wrong direction and struck the couple’s Hyundai. The impact sent the sedan into a nearby gas station. The four people inside the stolen SUV survived with relatively minor injuries, tried to run, and were quickly taken into custody.

Police had encountered the G-Wagon earlier that morning after it was reported stolen. Officers in more than one Atlantic County community attempted to stop it. A short pursuit occurred before authorities lost visual contact minutes ahead of the collision.

Nayshaun Brown, 18, of Atlantic City, and three juveniles face charges that include conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, joyriding, eluding police, and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. Brown is also charged with employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime. He is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The juveniles’ cases are proceeding through the juvenile system, with some ordered detained.

Investigators from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, local police, and the state Attorney General’s Office continue to examine the events that led to the fatal crash. The precise role of each person inside the stolen vehicle remains under review.

Stilwell and Barr leave behind children and, in Stilwell’s case, grandchildren. Their sudden deaths leave a permanent absence for the people who knew them best.

Good Samaritan killed defending woman in Indiana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Early on Aug. 8, 2026, a brief confrontation outside a local nightclub ended with the death of a 27-year-old city resident.

Jacob Gordon Klotz died from multiple gunshot wounds after police and medical teams responded to the scene near Showgirl III just after 3:30 a.m. Officers located him in an adjacent parking lot and began emergency care until paramedics arrived. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Allen County coroner’s office ruled the death a homicide.

According to court documents, the incident began when Austin Rinker, 28, approached a woman who worked at the club. Rinker had previously been banned from the establishment following reports of unwanted contact with the woman. Witnesses described an argument that escalated into a short physical fight involving Klotz. After the exchange, Rinker moved toward a vehicle. Klotz followed. Gunfire rang out moments later, and Klotz fell.

A club manager told investigators he then saw Rinker turn a firearm in the direction of others nearby. The manager returned fire. Rinker, who sustained a gunshot wound, drove himself to a hospital. He has been charged with murder and remains presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in court.

Klotz was not armed, according to statements given to police. Friends later described him as someone who regularly looked out for those around him, including during his time working security at area venues. His death marked the 22nd homicide recorded in Allen County in 2026.

We often wonder why bystanders fail to intervene. Ofttimes the best course of action is to document assaults and contact authorities who are trained to safely deescalate attacks. It’s a difficult call to make.

An easy call to make, in my opinion, is to avoid strip clubs. Paying to watch people get naked is stupid. Stuffing cash in their underpants is stupider.

Authorities continue to review evidence and witness accounts. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Fort Wayne police.
