PUTTING JESUS AT THE CENTER

The Bible says, “Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

A heart devoid of Christ is a life filled with crisis. But when Christ takes His rightful place at the centre of the heart, He brings peace, purpose, and direction even in the midst of life’s storms.

At Christian Faith Institute (CFI), we are not just training people to become good interpreters of the Bible. We are raising men and women whose hearts are centred on Christ—people who reflect His character and mirror His love to the world.

There are moments in life when pain, disappointment, and hardship quietly push Jesus out of the centre of our hearts. As our attention becomes fixed on the crises around us, we often overlook the greater internal crisis caused by a shifted focus.

Satan understands that whatever captures our attention ultimately shapes our direction. That is why he stirs external storms, hoping to redirect our focus away from Jesus, who dwells in our hearts through faith.

The greatest crisis is not the storm around us—it is a heart without Christ.

Many of CFI’s students come from communities torn apart by conflict, poverty, and hardship. Yet our mission goes beyond addressing external challenges. We are committed to healing the internal crisis by leading students into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.

This is why, at the end of every Sunday service at Christian Faith Ministries (CFM), we sing the words: “Let the world see Jesus in our lives.” That is more than a closing song—it is our prayer and our calling. We desire that every believer leaves the service carrying Christ into their homes, workplaces, schools, and communities, so that the world encounters Jesus through the lives we live.

When Christ reigns in the heart, He gives hope where there is despair, peace where there is turmoil, and strength to overcome every crisis.

Missions Conference in One Week

Everyone is excited and everyone is on deck preparing. It’s going to be big. We have ordered an extra 5,000 mattresses, tents, chairs, toilets, bought food for seven days, and covered many other costs, including costs for medical care for our missionaries and others. All that is needed now is the transport funds for CFM missionaries from thousands of interior regions. That’s by far the biggest cost. Please pray and support if you are able. God has always glorified his name.

Our last massive missionaries conference was at the end of 2021. We surprisingly had 8,000 attend. To prepare for that conference, we had to get word out through many associations. This time, we only have to work with our own mission network. It has grown so much in five years. Frontline missions is the main aim of CFM. Our bible college students are connected into real missions work. They receive the best mentoring in that work and start churches everywhere. Thousands of them.

Not being distracted by long stories about demons or “hidden wisdom.” Jesus is the wisdom and power of God. Preach the gospel!

Crossing Over to the Other Side

“Here is a photo from one of CFM’s missionary fields in Niger State, where our missionaries crossed a river for a three-day outreach to a remote village. (Niger State is rife with banditry and kidnapping.) The scene immediately brings to mind Jesus’ words to His disciples: “Let us cross over to the other side.” (Mark 4:35)

Those words were more than a travel plan - they were a divine assignment.

Crossing to the other side means moving beyond our comfort zones. It means daring the storm, embracing the risk, and going where the lost are waiting. If you asked the disciples about the storm that threatened their lives that night, none of them would deny it was one of the greatest tests of their faith. Their confidence in their Master’s promise, “Let us cross over to the other side,” was put to the test.

Although crossing over was Christ’s initiative, it did not come without opposition. A violent storm arose, the waves crashed into the boat, and even seasoned fishermen believed they were about to perish. Yet Jesus was in the boat with them, and His presence guaranteed that the storm would not have the final word.”

CFM goes deep into the bush to reach nomadic Fulani communities with the gospel. This outreach above is in Nigeria’s northern Borno State.

Praying for CFM’s Missions Conference

Some of our staff at Wurin Alheri pray for the mission conference this September 14th - 20th. Thousands of missionaries representing thousands of churches and millions of souls. Costs are high but God is higher. We should always trust him.

Sara came to CFM’s crisis-care home for children when her family was displaced by Boko Haram. Today, she helps to run outreaches to educate and lift girls. She recently enrolled in university, supporting herself by making and selling handbags. Sara is an example of our crisis-care children, some of you are supporting.

Risk-taking Rescuers

Belonging to Jesus makes us kingdom rescue workers, part of the earth changing, world renewing team. All rescuers take risks to save the lives of others. How much more us, Jesus’ team? We thank God for what he has done in the lives of so many who have passed through CFM, the transformation in their lives and the incredible change they are bringing to many other lives through the love and power of the Lord. We have many costs on the ground, with so many churches growing so fast in terrorism-ravaged, and banditry-troubled communities, with many coming for training, and with our 40-years-in-Nigeria celebration Missions Conference coming up in just over 3 weeks’ time. We have many cost on the ground right now! God is faithful: he will do it. If he prompts you to help, thank you! We value your prayer for our whole team and conference guests.

Churches Born Every Week

Our graduates spend six months in service before gaining their certificate. Below, Danfulani serves out of one of our mission centres, planting a new church in the interior.

This is how our students find out what is in them. They come from nowhere and find out God has a purpose for them and that they matter, and God is using them in his kingdom.

Another Medical Clinic

CFM builds a clinic at a missions centre in the interior of Kaduna State. Hundreds of millions of people have no access to medical care. Some cases from our mission stations are sometimes referred to our hospital at Wurin Alheri.

Once Lost, Now Finding the Lost

Jesus is Lord, Over All

CFM’s book is out for the September conference, “JESUS IS LORD, Making the Main Thing the Main Thing”. Students are purchasing it now. Celebrating 40 years in Africa. The book presents Jesus’ and Paul’s message on the extent of Christ’s gospel renewing creation.

From “Saul” to “Paul”

CFM students establish mission centres among homeless drug addict youth, in places locally called “jungles”, because they are wild, lawless and hopeless communities. The team minister to youth long term, with the gospel, discipleship, clothing and restoration back into fruitful lives. One of our leaders was a notorious drug criminal, nicknamed “Osama”, before the Lord totally changed his life.

Medical Care in Villages

Our hospital team holding a clinical outreach in a new clinic - a branch of our main Wurin Alheri hospital, in Barkin Kogi village, with one of the world’s highest rates of viral hepatitis: serving people who can’t get to a hospital.

A group of CFM graduates formed Shema Ministries to reach out to widows and prisoners in Nigeria’s north with the gospel, and with support they raise from local bodies.

Hopeless, Violent, Addicted, Now Ambassadors of Life & Love

Only the gospel is this radical, where the criminal pushers now rescue the hopeless and desperate, where former Islamist terrorists preach a gospel of life, love and transformation. Only a mighty, forgiving, rescuing and recreating God can be this good! Jesus IS LORD of all the earth, and we are seeing his faithful transformation in lives every day, in CFM’s bible school; discipleship training; children in Crisis Care and school; through our hospital team; in more than 1,000 remote, Islam-dominant communities of frontline gospel mission.

Satan Falls from Heaven

Gideon Usirhyel, a student in CFM’s bible school, is with us for the second time. After the death of his father and displacement of his wider family from their villages by Boko Haram, he was brought to our children’s Crisis Care Home with 3 of his siblings. He was one of 80 children from Borno State’s Biu, who came to CFM in March 2016. Gabriel was around 13. His youngest sibling is still with us in the Children’s Home, doing very well. We praise God for his amazing faithfulness. We get excited when we see these orphaned children, whose lives God rescued and restored, grown up now and serving him with their whole heart.

“Satan Falls from Heaven”

In Revelation 12 this term carried many ideas. One was the satan’s fall in the first century, firstly through the victory of the cross and then through the victory of the early church. Satan fell from his control over the people.

The gospel has made huge progress in Nigeria since 1960, at the same time as many local and international forces have acted together to break up the nation, intimidate the church from spreading and persecute followers of Christ. Nigeria is pivotal to Africa and so the gospel’s battle here is most intense.

But no matter what satan has thrown against the church, no matter how much he has cut back missionaries from the north of Nigeria, the church is succeeding in doing what the enemy feared. The church continues to spread at pace, unite the nation of diverse peoples into one through the family of God, and overcome Nigeria’s enemies around the world that would cause division and destruction.

No matter the onslaught of the enemy against the church in this nation, in the suffering we are seeing “satan fall from heaven”, from his place of power over the people. It doesn’t work out in a day, but the church is prevailing mightily, just as Jesus promised. (Matthew 16:18)

Raising Church Leaders

CFM has always been all about building the church of Jesus Christ, even though it is often not illustrious in human terms, just as “Christ loved the church and gave himself for it”. (Ephesians 5:25) The church is God’s arm of salvation and rebuilding in the world through the gospel. “Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” (Isaiah 58:12)

Unstoppable

In this nation, where more Christians are dying each year for their faith than in any other country, more people are finding salvation in Christ than ever before. On Nigeria’s blood-soaked battlefield, the satan is falling, and the church is rising. The “giant of Africa” is shaking herself, soon to stand on her feet again and lead Africa’s Christian renaissance. Faith builds lives. The church of Jesus rebuilds and restores people. Overcoming Terrorism

Dear Friends,

Believers in Willaim Wilberforce’s day (an antislavery campaigner) insisted on the gospel’s role in transforming their society, and also in the necessity of fashioning economic policy in the favour of the people. Isaiah 58 calls it “lifting the yoke”, inculcating sabbath principles of rest from burdens, which Isaiah said brought peace.

A nation that will work with Nigeria in building regional business together, in win-win industrial development, rather than promoting instability and aid-debt servitude, is welcome.

How to Build Peace, Building Nigeria’s Economy

Banking in ancient times was often conducted by the priestly class. They would take in goods, like animals, grain, and so on, and loan them out at interest to others with need. Meticulous ancient clay records show this.

Also, coinage was used, minted from precious metals, so the coin would hold its value. The value of the coin wasn’t in the temple or government, but in the coin itself. Also, letters of credit or bank notes were issued, so customers could travel without cash, to avoid robbery.

Banks learnt to lend out more money than they held in deposits, printing paper money with no intrinsic value, on the premise that depositors would not draw out their savings all at once. Banks made extra interest revenues on this and also caused inflation by increasing the money supply. The people paid for the banks’ profits through inflation.

Banks lent money to governments during crisis, or to fight wars. It is common for banks to promote both sides in a conflict for generations. Governments pay off these loans by exacting ever increasing taxes on the public. This way, more and more wealth is transferred from the public to the banks.

In 1971, the US $ went off the gold standard, so banks could print new money without any limit. This meant ever increasing inflation, ever increasing taxes, and ever-increasing profits to the banks.

This is the current state of affairs, and it is changing. Such changes include:

Nations processing and building up their own natural resources for domestic sovereign control, as backing for their currency.
Taking government debt and domestic economic policy out of the hands of globalist banking institutions, for government to create its own sovereign debt, secure from private or foreign interests. In a productive economy, governments can cover their own debt.
The government ensures credit is available for private domestic investment in industrial development, increasing real productivity. This is noninflationary and pushes wages upward and the price of energy and housing downwards.

Society moves from a tax-&-aid economy to a productive income economy. Power moves out of the hands of government, back into the family, around their faith. Wealth and influence returns to normal people.

Globalist geopolitics since WWII has had the primary aim of preventing these changes, by any and all nefarious means. We are facing the same issues Wilberforce faced, and the least we can do is raise awareness and unity in the church.

Students need aptitude, to grow in understanding of “all things that pertain to life and godliness”, if they are to have a part in fashioning their nation’s future.

Students come from some of the most interior, marginalised and persecuted regions on earth. They need a hand up, to lift their nation up.

Many come illiterate, without speaking the language of our books, but can write good essays by the time they finish.

Literate in God’s Word, income generational skills and economic know-how

Loving Jesus, following his path, with the scriptures to direct, guide and build wisdom, gaining knowledge and practical skills sets across multiple spheres, grows individuals, families, and communities: nations are rebuilt on the strongest foundation. Young men and women are being rescued, restored and rebuilt at Wurin Alheri, with the help of your prayer and financial support. Only God can undertake this transformation, and this is what he delights to do. Thank you for your partnership.

Fighting Fire with Fire

Dear Friends,

The greatest remedy against terrorism is the gospel. Taking the gospel to would-be-enemies of the church is the absolute best that can be done. Reaching them before they reach us. Going into their territory, as Jesus came into ours: with the power and mandate of the Lord. This is missions. Fight the fire of terrorism with the fire of the Spirit filled gospel of Jesus Christ.

Where does the enemy harvest its foot soldiers? Reach them with the gospel first. CFM is preparing now for a mission conference at Wurin Alheri this September 14 - 20, with 5,000 missionaries being equipped.

Since the Babylonians, Persians, Greek and Romans, the coming of the gospel has stopped such a series of empires taking over. (Daniel 1-12) Though “they” try (even today), the gospel won’t allow them to dominate. Once the church was born, the world shifted. When we realise this and act on it, we see the reality. When the kingdom of God broke into the old world, a new heavens and earth began to emerge. There is certainly still a battle, but God has spoken: “All power in heaven and earth has been given to Me.”

Purifying Cleansing Fire

The word of God comes as fire to burn away dross in our lives (Isaiah 6:6-7), and the Spirit, as tongues of fire resting on us (Acts 2:3), to equip us for witness. This fire in us and through us all is far more potent than the most brutal terrorism or opposing atheist. God has this battle, and with him we are on the right side. We see this work out daily. While worldly forces deny it, we see the Lord’s fire increase, purging the dross. Thank you for your partnership in faithful prayer and support.

Touching a Million Lives

AFRICAN MISSIONARIES GOING THROUGH SUCH HARDSHIP, WITH JOY AND FRUIT, NEED ENCOURAGEMENT! SOMEONE TO STAND WITH THEM.

Weapons of Our Warfare

The last two Psalms are calls to praise.

“May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them - this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord.” (Psalm 149:6-9)

It shows the battle across nations isn’t merely ideological, not merely flesh and blood, but spiritual. It shows the way to overcome spiritual powers is praise. Praise of God is a two-edged sword in our hands and binds the powers. It spoils the enemy in a way that our own weapons cannot. It succeeds in bringing accountability to our nations. Praise of God is our glorious stance.

The “weapons of our warfare”. Faith, God’s gift of righteousness, prayer, praise, endurance... They are powerful in God, to pull down strongholds. They work. (Eph 6:10-20, 2 Cor 10:4)

What Time Are We In?

Missionaries throughout Nigeria and the African Sahel, surrounding us, are experiencing great opposition, terrorism, crime, unprecedented poverty, lack of medical and educational facilities for their children.
We are possibly seeing the greatest numbers of people coming to Christ than ever before in our history.

This is why we act to support this great mission task, given to us by the Lord Jesus himself. We support missionaries with monthly stipends, travel and visitations, building, educational and medical backing for their families, some housing, and training conferences for their work. It's a major part of CFM’s budget.

This September 14th-20th, we are aiming at bringing 5,000 missionaries from their workstations, to Wurin Alheri for a mission conference. It means transporting them from their mission field to Jos, and back again after the conference. Most missionaries cannot afford transport to far places in this economy. They are coming from very far away. It means renting overflow tents, chairs, mattresses, sound equipment and feeding costs for one week. We undertake it by faith, believing in the leading of the Lord.

We are preparing now. If you would like to support these missionaries in taking the gospel out to a million people, please see the details at the bottom of this newsletter. Please pray and praise God with us, for his wonderful works in triumphing over the enemy of our people and nations.

Breakdown of the Numbers

CFM has 1,000+ missionaries we work with directly.
We also have 1,000+ “men of peace”, located throughout the nation’s rural areas, local people who give us access into new regions to bring the gospel. (Luke 10:5-6) But they are more than “men of peace”. They are assistant local missionaries, as our main missionaries move from place to place establishing outreaches.
There are an additional 1,500+ missionaries who associate with CFM, working alongside us and opening further doors of missions.
This is a total of 3,500 missionary delegates we work with, whom CFM will be transporting to the conference and back. (This does not include spouses.) Together, they are reaching over 1,000,000 people. The cost of transport to CFM will be A$150,000.
The additional 1,500 delegates at the conference will be CFM’s pastoral graduates, other ministries invited to attend, and our current bible college students. We are not transporting these delegates.
Other costs, including feeding for six days, hiring of chairs, mattresses and overflow seating tents, will be about A$50,000. We haven’t costed this in detail yet.

The conference brings unity to our broader team, inspiration, equipping, resources, and such support encourages much more outreach in the years ahead.

Our Chief Purpose at Wurin Alheri

This site is dedicated to missions and to building the church of Jesus Christ throughout Nigeria and the African Sahel. Other rescue ministries of CFM compliment this missions training and outreach focus as our chief purpose. Nigeria and the nations around us have been divided into zones by our team. We have coordinators overseeing each zone.

Celebrating and Overcoming

Our last massive missions conference, like this one, was December 2021, to celebrate the failure of Boko Haram in their goal of eliminating Jos, our nearby city, as a mission centre. Since then, God has enabled and equipped so many missionaries in the wider African Sahel region, under-reached with the gospel, but at horrendous cost. Many Nigerian Christians have been brutally murdered for their faith. But despite this, the gospel is growing faster than ever, firmly planted in fertile fields. This conference celebrates God’s ongoing victory over the evil one, and the unstoppable reach of the gospel. Thank you for your prayer and support.

CFM: A Leading Staff’s Village Attacked

This week we had an attack on the village where Paul Shettima comes from. Paul is one of the founding leaders of CFM. Three of his cousins were killed in this latest attack, and a woman and her baby. Military are now positioned there. Locals claim that a seam of minerals running through the village is the main reason for terrorism there. We hear this from all around the nation (and from across Africa). Speaking with our missionaries in the most vulnerable northern states, “bandit” attacks have reduced, as in most of the nation. But many people are still afraid to go back to their farms.

Looking back to Dr David Livingstone. He wanted the interior of Africa opened to the sea, to foster economic development to replace slavery. Like many missionaries of his day (still today) his activism was not appreciated by the powers. Today, terrorism is overcome as legitimate economies and infrastructure develop. But this means pillaged resources to imperialist forces are cut off. Presently, we are heading in this positive direction. It means delegitimising puppet governments, cutting off illegal sources of funding, opening processing industries within the nation. As stated before, 100s of millions of lives depend on it.

CFM’s Computer Centres

Local Muslims insisted my name went on the first centre opened, so people would know the Christian ethos behind the initiative. Above, a later centre opened at Barkin Ladi.

CFM now runs 10 computer centres, with 375 computers. The first one was opened in Bukuru, then soon after major community conflict saw thousands die in nearby communities. Christian and Muslim youth worked together, for the first time in many years. The region has been transformed, completely. Christians and Muslims work and live side-by-side, repelling radical infiltrators from outside. CFM received a letter of thanks from the head of police.

Miracle in Cairo

After prayers she went back to the hospital, repeated the test and came out cancer free. She’s been calling all her family members and telling them of the goodness of God.” We currently have two parttime bible colleges running, one in Cairo and one in Minya.

Life When Confronted Daily with Death

Thank you for standing with us in prayer and your generous financial support to share the gospel in frontline missions. Only the words of Jesus, committed into our hands, have the power to overcome terrorism and it’s brutal death-cult. Death comes by gunshot, machete, or the slow death of displacement, poverty, disease and starvation for attack survivors. We stand with the survivors to help. We don’t only cross from death to life ourselves, but we share the way and the means for others to cross. The gospel changes lives of individuals, families and whole communities. It costs everything, but the everything of now is a small price to pay for an eternity together in paradise, where God walks with us in the garden.

Miracles at Gwagwalada Crisis Home for Children

Toyin and Ronke, leaders of our Gwagwalada crisis-care home, primary & high schools. Celebrating the purchase of one site we have rented for ten years, with all its buildings, and three other vacant lots to build our permanent school. Four envelopes of ownership documents. Jesus will not throw these 250 children out onto the street. Thank you to our friends for supporting, and for the team and children standing in faith through the process.

Wurin Alheri’s Year 12 Graduation

Graduation ceremony at Wurin Alheri’s High School, equivalent to year 12 in Australia, matriculation examination year. One of our students achieved top mark in our state. The teachers did a marvellous job!

This school started in 2009, with classes held for our first neighbourhood children. We had no teachers and no facilities. Today, CFM owns almost all our school’s facilities and employs 175 teachers, teachers’ aids, administrators, bus drivers, cleaners and security, for 1,480 pupils, including 417 crisis-home children, with 45 staff. Reliable bible college students also help.

DEBORAH ISHAYA

DEBORAH ISHAYA

Deborah is a 17-year-old girl, Bura by tribe, from Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State. Deborah is the second of 4 children, of whom 2 died, with just Deborah and her elder brother left.

Deborah’s father, Mr Ishaya Thalma, was a farmer. The family stayed at Mallam Jakwa village. Deborah was 2 years old, when her mother died in childbirth, along with her baby. When Deborah was 4, her father was killed by Boko Haram when working on his farm.

From the time of her mother’s death, Deborah was passed between various aunties, until she was brought to an orphanage in Jos in 2015, when her aunts were displaced and impoverished by terrorism. In October 2021, Deborah was brought by her aunt to Wurin Alheri’s crisis home and school.

Deborah says she has learned to study the word of God on her own and be prayerful. She has learned to associate with others from different backgrounds and be tolerant and patient with others. She is grateful for the sponsorship and provision of her needs, so she could focus on education with no worries.

Kanadi Loksha

Kanadi’s father was Christian, killed by Boko Haram when Kanadi was 12. His Muslim uncle put him into a madrassah training terrorists for Boko Haram. Three days before his initiation into Boko Haram, a Muslim woman, friend of his mother, put Kanadi into a taxi and sent him to his mothers’ place, saying he must say goodbye to his mother before he died. Kanadi’s mother wept at God’s goodness, then took him to her pastor, who brought him straight to CFM, a 2-day journey. Kanadi arrived in 2016, a bitter and angry youth, still a Muslim. After six weeks his hard heart broke: he came to Christ. He became a leader in the home, an excellent teacher of God’s word. Today, he is completing his final 4th year of a BSc in Biochemistry, doing his practical training in our hospital at Wurin Alheri. We are so happy to see him again!

The Razack Family

One of our founding team in 2006, Emmanuel Razack, was murdered in a Fulani ambush, when driving with Kent to Jos in 2014. Policeman Killed on Duty

A small gift to Mrs Nanlop Bulus, the wife of a policeman killed on duty protecting Wurin Alheri 6 years ago. She’s a good woman, with 4 children.

Miraculous Rebuilt Lives

Jesus never lets go, never fails us, never leaves us, even in the most horrific circumstances, he rescues and saves: that’s the kind of God who deserves our utter devotion! Over so many years we keep watching him restore broken lives and wounded hearts in answer to prayer. Nothing is more wonderful: we can only praise him for his life-giving words and faithful love.

Years of Patient Work

Dear Friends,

We sit on our balcony each evening and look at the forest in front of our house.

We grow trees and crops wherever we don’t have buildings, carparks, football fields or playgrounds. In a few years, the trees will become a canopy. Dry-season resistant Gums and other large local wind breakers, Norfolk pines, jacaranda, flame trees. Our soil was condemned. Trees were replanted several times. We would plant corn, fertilize it with expensive chemicals, and get nothing in return, until we bought Fulani cows onto the site. Now it’s all flourishing: crops and relationships with Fulani neighbours.

New crops are coming up at Wurin Alheri. We missed mango season this year, as we were away. Now it’s lemons, oranges, mandarins, guava, corn, ground nuts and beans. Two corn fields. Staff pluck leaves from different trees for stews, or herbal medicines, having knowledge from many generations. A popular leaf is from the moringa tree.

When Boko Haram tried to take this region (a battle over many years, a decade ago), I formed a habit of looking up to the skies, which looked peaceful and inviting.

One of our corn fields. Recently planted. No artificial chemicals. Composted rubbish, with burnt polyethene plastics, ash from cooking fires, green waste, with manure from our animals. No ploughing. They tell us to feel guilty about waste. The more rubbish we produce, the better our land is. And it’s free. We produce cashew fruit, paw paws, palm oil, apples, African olives, honey.

A favourite of our kids when young - unripe guavas. We have over 50 guava trees. No sprays. Chemical free food. Eggs from foraging guinea fowl on site are richer than hen eggs we buy.

It’s hard keeping up with the lawn mowing in wet season, using two large trimmers.

We have an abundance of birds, bright blue, brilliant pink and green hummingbirds, red, yellow, orange birds. You can always hear them singing. Snakes (cobras, mambas) haven’t been seen on site for a while. The wall going up around the site helps, also the larger population of people working around the grass areas. Fish are in our dams, sheep, pigs and chickens in the sheds. There are free foraging chickens too, with the guinea fowl, in danger if our dogs escape.

Farms outside our fence, on land loaned by local villagers to our staff, where students help to farm yams, rice, corn, beans, sweet potatoes, guinea corn.

Wurin Alheri Dam, which CFM built 10 years ago. It’s used for dry-season farming, to water Fulani cattle, for block making, and to water Wurin Alheri in dry season.

God’s Goodness Overcomes all Evil

Even while brutal violence is perpetrated against our Sahel communities, even when we spend our days hearing and recording heart-rending stories of our children, students and neighbours, of persecution, terrorism and the slow, crushing suffering that follows for the survivors, we look out on the magnificent beauty and wholeness of God’s creation, the restoration brought to Wurin Alheri, this Place of Kindness. We see again how the Lord, in his love and infinite wisdom, restores and rebuilds, even the most damaged environment, the most brutalised life, and we have hope again. God reminds us that he still rules, that no enemy, however powerful, can overcome God and his restorative redemptive, creative power. God always wins. Thank you for your prayer and support.

Terrorism, Persecution, Salvation

Dear Friends,

Please read the testimony below. It’s a very clear example of what people have been suffering, and why CFM reaches out as much as we can. We hear less of this on the news now. In many places the situation has improved, but in many other places off the beaten track, things like those below are still common. Many of our students and disciples come from these regions. Below is just one testimony among many 1,000s who pass through CFM. We can’t share their name or photo. This testimony was written earlier this year. The student has gone back to his family and they are well. He has been on his practical ministry period in his region (as all our students do) and is returning to Wurin Alheri soon. We pray there is improvement.

We pray that through this student, and his wife, many shall come to Christ.

The testimony shows the importance of proper law enforcement in regard to real crime, rather than being used in the suppression of the common man. Genuine law enforcement hasn’t been in vogue internationally in recent decades, which is why we have come to this place. Crime is now being dealt with, with the force needed. And it is not being done divisively. It’s good for the country, though there are those in the media that decry dealing with lawlessness. They prefer destruction of lives by murder, rape and pillage. This welcome change is reaching to international terrorism financing, election integrity and economic transformation also. We keep praying. A lot of lives depend on it.

I was born in 1991 into traditional religion (this means they consult spirits). I met Christ in 2015 when I was 24 years. Before then, I was also a traditionalist, with a wife that I married in 2014. I grew up with my uncle, after the death of my father, 22 years ago. I was 13 years old when my father died.

Five years after meeting Christ, I came for a conference at CFM in Jos 2021. This was my first experience in school and learning. In 2022, I enrolled at CFM. But after first semester, when I went back home, the issues of the Fulani herdsmen became serious. I couldn’t return to school. They are robbers, who came at all times to raid us of every belonging. They took people away.

They took our people to the thick forest, kept them and demanded millions of naira per person for release. They were demanding for motorcycles and expensive telephone sets, and after their demands were met, the people were released, after going through many sufferings. They went to other places and did the same and later returned to us. They kept us very restless. People couldn’t go to their farms, or engage in any business, for fear of being kidnapped.

We lived a very fearful unstable life, not sure of what might happen next. People were sometimes returned, but not all. Some died in the event of bad treatment, and this has been the trend. Things were getting worse because they seemed to have even better weapons to perpetrate their evil. We kept moving from one place to the other, not knowing where to run for safety.

Last year 2025, my grandparents, uncles and younger siblings, numbering about 22 people were kidnapped. 3 died and the majority came back weak and sick. In 2026 January, before I returned to CFM, on a Sunday as early as 6:30 AM, these bandits came into our village causing a big commotion. They came in big numbers, raiding on motorcycles. They went into our homes and made away with all valuables. They came into my own house and killed my wife’s brother. Five days later, they came back again and we lost my mother in-law. From there I had to move my family to the town Ribah. Most of our people are now staying with friends and family in Ribah town.

Now it’s farming season, the villagers need to go back to their farmlands to cultivate and harvest food, but the herdsmen will not allow it. They demand taxes from every person, to allow them to go back for a period of time to plant or harvest anything. Most times, they collect money meant to appease them but then they will not comply to the agreement. Just when it’s harvest time, they come again. They either chase the people away or force them to harvest the crops and take everything to the forest for them, where the bandits live. Each time lives are lost.

I simply took advantage of the period when I was in Ribah town, with a little peace. I came back to CFM, to see if I could make up for the lost times in school. Now I am very troubled as I do not know how my wife and family will survive through this planting season (unless they can farm for food). My children have been out of school. My wife has been calling me to come back home as she does not have anyone to help her with the children. I love God and want to finish my studies in CFM, but life back home is very difficult for my family.

These bandits keep coming back to attack and harass us each time with more and more sophisticated weapons. They carry away everything they can get, leaving us with nothing. It’s been suffering all the way. To the bandits, we are nothing but slaves to them.

PERSECUTION

I lived with my uncle after the death of my father who was macheted to death by Fulani. I gave my life to Christ when a group of Christians came and organised a Christian program in my village. I attended a couple of times and the word touched me. I went back home to inform my uncle that I think I want to change to Christianity, but that was the beginning of my problems with my uncles and grandfather. They refused me access to any farmland and even threatened to remove the roof off my house. They said I have brought curses to the family clan, as no one of us was a Christian.

I was sent away from my family house, but the Christian community came together and interceded for me appealing to them. They encouraged me to continue to show the light and love of Christ by assisting my uncle even more than I have done. Each time I would go to his farm to help or go to his house to help, but they would always drive me away. My uncle said I was a cursed person and he didn’t want to have anything to do with me. However, the few Christians supported me very well.

Right now, every one of us has gone in searching for safety. I was deprived of my family farmlands. My uncle who stood by me to be able to get married went to my in-laws to recommend that they take back their daughter, as he could no longer guarantee the safety of their daughter with me. My father in-law declined.

The greatest challenge has, however been that of the security. Bandits came and took everything. They killed my family members, both father and my mother, and left us without any means of living. My two children, age eight and six years cannot go to school.

LIFE AFTER MEETING JESUS

I was serving (the spirits), serving what I did not know or understand. Our parents had a particular piece of land where each year different animals were sacrificed, for reproduction in women. In traditional religion, we serve things we don’t even understand. It was my father who was a traditionalist and I was to be the next priest in turn, but God saved me. I was in bondage. I was suffering and living without peace.

With Jesus I have peace, love, patience and forgiveness. I used to be involved in drugs, but God saved me. I am now led by the Spirit of God. I didn’t just do things at random. My wish is to know God’s will concerning my life and work in it. I wish that God should touch the life of my family.

Above all, I wish that security and peace be replaced in the community. People are being impoverished in my community. The poor are getting poorer day by day. Bandits impose tax on our people, so they won’t be killed. The rich and poor are taxed the same, if they desire to survive. I wish all bandits are disarmed and face the law. Lives are being lost every day.

I have learnt to read and write, to communicate and to tolerate people. I learnt and gained confidence to preach the gospel. I have learnt a lot in CFM and my message to Christians is to persevere and continue the service and love of God, no matter what they pass through. We have a hope: we are not hopeless.

HOW CAN CHRISTIANS PRAY FOR YOU AS THEY READ YOUR STORY?

God helps us to endure any persecution, to gain security and peace, for progress in the gospel for my people. They say there is religious freedom, but there is no freedom of religion here, whatever the law may say on the statutes.

Witchdoctors Baptised

The above student with his testimony was a spiritualist before Christ saved him. CFM’s missions stations see people like “Bulus” baptised all over Nigeria, especially in these far-flung terrorist regions. Above, an old witchdoctor and his wife come to Christ a week ago.

Helping 1,000s of Families

Dear Friends,

Today was Wurin Alheri’s school Speech and Prize Day, held at the end of each school year. This Saturday, we hold the same at our Gwagwalada school. Two other smaller CFM schools are doing the same over the next week. CFM’s other village mission schools are informal.

We know the stories of so many families, those the Lord is rescuing and helping in different ways. It’s all a miracle. Thank you for your support! Among our 1,500 pupils, are 417 from our two crisis-care children's homes.

Costs

CFM pays the monthly wages of all the staff of CFM schools, to educate 1,500 children in small classes, for quality education, and provides transport and structures pupils need. This keeps fees to a minimum, or 95% of the children would not be able to be schooled here. Our crisis-care home children are educated for free. Virtually every family represented in this school, has passed through serious ongoing crises, not just families of the children in our crisis homes. This is a large cost-centre for CFM.

Highlights

< Top mark in the state in Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (university matric).

< Very good pass rates for all children.

< Some crisis-care children, who had never been to school before coming to CFM, due to their terrorism affected communities, sat their common entrance to secondary school exam at the end of grade three (instead of grade six) and passed. They start secondary school in September. This is a huge achievement for both staff and pupils.

< The school and the home are achieving for both gifted and traumatised children.

From Trauma to Pearls

“Let the children come to me.” (Matt 19:14) “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believes in me to stumble would be better off with a millstone tied around his neck and cast into the sea.” (Matt 18:6)

These children, who have passed through unimaginable trauma, are thriving with love, care, great mentoring, good teaching, and positive discipline. Who knows which of them God will use tomorrow to achieve great things in his Kingdom? They are precious, priceless pearls: it is worth every effort to give them a hand up! Captives Freed in Various Regions

The Nigerian government has turned a few corners this year. Its army is effectively protecting the weak and punishing the wicked. The UN used to rail against it for being strong. We hear news now of major resources being processed within Nigeria, for Nigerians, things the WEF cruelly prevented, in favour of increased debt and austerity. If this new direction keeps up, we will have a new nation soon. This is true compassion.

Gwagwalada Children’s Home

Children and staff hold a party today to celebrate the final payment in the purchase of their main site. We have rented this site for 10 years, only to be told a year ago we must vacate, that the site had been sold. It turned out that we were able to buy it, and dear friends stepped in to help. 145 children and staff family can now celebrate. A year ago, we told them not to worry, that the Lord had something in mind. We are buying other land nearby to make room for a permanent school.

Toyin and Ronke lead the work in Gwagwalada, which includes the children’s home with 145 children, about 250 in the school, sixty-five fulltime staff, CFM bible college student helpers, and mission stations in rural areas of their state. They made a key to celebrate the occasion of purchasing the site.

Gabriel is one of the leaders over CFM, who works alongside Toyin.

Only God can do it: he can and he does!

How wonderful is the Lord, providing an ongoing home for our child survivors of terrorism and related tragedy, training thousands of young people in his word and in skills to rebuild lives, bringing hope for the future. Finally, we are beginning to see solid signs of turnaround of the brutal suffering of Nigeria’s needy. Do You Love Me? Feed My Sheep

“He said to him again the second time, ‘Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ He said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’” (John 21:16)

Henry Diamond heads up CFM’s work in Egypt. His wife and family live with us in Jos, his wife is a pastor in one of our local churches, and music teacher in our school. They have raised their four children miraculously over the years. It’s amazing to see the Lord’s faithfulness. We have worked with Henry for 26 years. He heads back to Egypt next week.

While in Jos with his family, Henry travels around visiting hundreds of CFM’s mission stations. This week he said, “The mission stations together are so big, Wurin Alheri could not contain the thousands of people. What is outside Wurin Alheri is much bigger than inside Wurin Alheri.” Thank God! That is what Wurin Alheri is here for.

Our missionaries put their money together to buy 50 sheep; they have 27 so far. They will breed them at Wurin Alheri and sell them at peak season. It’s for extra income for their families. We have another animal building on site, the missionaries are repairing also, which will give them a lot more space.

Gift, one of 1,000s that come through Wurin Alheri

Gift is an 11 year old girl from Nasarawa State in CFM’s Children’s Crisis Care Home, who recently fractured some bones in her wrist when she slipped over, playing volleyball. Her injury was treated at a local specialist hospital in Jos. Gift came into Wurin Alheri in 2023 and is just completing Primary Grade 1. She had never been to school before coming to CFM, because she had been living in conditions of desperate poverty and neglect.

Gift’s father was killed by Fulani herdsmen on his farm when Gift was very small. This left her Christian mother and Gift virtually destitute, struggling to eat. Her mother was eventually remarried to another husband, arranged by her own family, but her child, Gift, was not welcomed by her new husband. Gift, brutally neglected, somehow survived. Her mother’s own family rejected responsibility for Gift, as her welfare is traditionally the responsibility of her dead father’s family.

Eventually one of Gift’s paternal uncles, a Muslim, intervened, removing Gift at age 8, placing her in a not very willing Muslim family, to be raised as a Muslim. Neither Gift nor her mother were happy with this forced Islamisation, and her mother made her protest known to her own family. This is how a young female cousin, a student at CFM’s Bible college, heard about it. The cousin collected Gift and brought her to CFM.

Gift arrived wild, ignorant and dirty, a survivor of years of neglect. It has taken the last 3 years for her to begin to value keeping clean and smelling good. This is why she has short hair, rather than the usual braids favoured by most girls her age. Now Gift is learning well in school and developing Christian behaviours of kindness and respect. She is now heading in the right direction, her wrist is healing well, and she will soon make rapid progress in school and, God willing, grow into a fine and Godly young Christian woman.

1,000s coming to Christ, wherever we go. We are adding another 20 missionaries to our salary list this month. We vet them over a long period of time. They are doing very well, with their families. We want to help. We currently have 100 more missionary families we are vetting.

This is the church, except for the “carefully” bit. We sing loudly, with joy.

One of our Sandwich classes, studying during the June - July break in our fulltime program. They are mostly pastors and missionaries coming in for refresher courses.

Incredible rescue, healing, transformation, equipping for service, what an honour we all have to share in this great commission! Thank you for your partnership!

A Hub of Gospel Power

Dear Friends,

When Christ raised Lazarus from the dead, he said to his disciples, “Loose him and let him go.” When Jesus gives new life to people today, he still calls his disciples to release them from their grave clothes (their old mindset), which means to equip them, and let them go into the harvest, to do the same for others. Raise up, then send out, in the thousands: our partnership with the Lord.

Very nice being back in this beautiful garden at Wurin Alheri, with all the staff family here. People are peacefully farming. The staff are doing a wonderful job and standing with each other as a team.

New students begin arriving at Wurin Alheri in about two weeks.

Evangelism continues throughout CFM’s mission stations and 1,000s of villages in surrounding regions and nations.

What a privilege to bring this true freedom to others trapped in satanic self-focused cycles! Breakthroughs in Children's Home

Gwagwalada Crisis-Care Home & School

Progress at CFM’s second crisis-care home for children, Gwagwalada. Dear friends helped us buy the main part of our current site, the site where our children live, and also part of their school premises. Pictured below.

Site we complete payment for today. The final payment for the above site is now ready to pay. The landlord died in a car accident just after we signed the contract and made the first payment. He is being laid to rest this Friday. His daughter is a barrister, and she loves the work of CFM. Our friends who bought this site, also bought a nearby empty block of land for the school.

Loan to Buy a Third Small Block

A third small block between the two sites we now own was available, then not available, and now is available again. It has a small building on it we could use for staff flats. (Pictured below.) The cost is A$48,000. I have asked our bank to forward us the funds so we can buy it while it’s available. We are trusting the Lord that he will cover it. He loves the children. Please pray with us.

145 children plus numerous care-giver staff and families live on this main site. The children are mostly terrorism survivors. There are 250 children in our Gwagwalada crisis-home school, which includes some children from the immediate environment.

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” (Psalm 82:3)
True godliness (James 1:27) is acting the way God does, reflecting his light, helping extended families in troubled times fulfil their responsibility towards these precious children, by providing residential care, education and godly nurture. This brings jubilee, restored hope to families for the next generation. Thank you for praying for our 417 beautiful Crisis Care children, their extended families and believing with us for God’s provision for the facilities to help them.

CFM’s Impact Summary

Most of the people CFM ministers to, in the activities below, are directly or indirectly persecuted, and live in circumstances of economic devastation. To reach these grassroots populations with the gospel takes ongoing charity and is only possible because of the leading and faithfulness of God, with your prayer and support.

Bible Colleges. Multi-national, multi-lingual, interdenominational, to PhD level, in Jos, Nigeria. The Bible College runs intensive practical ministry and missions, where students frequently engage in 6-week periods of evangelistic outreach and community service. There are currently around 1,000 Bible College students (around 800 boarders). Thousands of graduates going out into gospel ministry across Africa, over the last 40 years, reaching millions with the gospel. Egypt. Two part-time bible college campuses in Egypt, in Cairo and Minya, with 120 students at present. Currently building a permanent site in Cairo, to move classes there by August 2026.

Disciples. These are new converts to Christ, whose lives are in danger. Some are killed by their family and close community. Many have attempts made on their life. Those in acute danger are smuggled out through the church underground to a Safe House. CFM runs a Safe House for hundreds of disciples each year (part of our Bible College, but separate care and teaching). These are like crisis-care children (below) in the level of care their receive, including significant medical care, often needed, for different kinds of abuse. Some stay with CFM for up to 7 years, being educated in various ways. Many go on to lead thousands to Christ in their communities.

Marah’s House. Shelter for persecuted mothers and their small children, including widows, escaped child brides, single mothers and pregnant rape survivors, receiving residential care, counselling, pastoring and mentoring, medical care, education, and vocational skills training to rebuild shattered lives. Children also receiving care. Up to 25 mothers and their children.

Church Planting. Main campus plus a further 7 city church branches in Northern Nigeria, plus another 500 mission stations in interior regions, most in tough Islam-dominant communities, with an average attendance of 100. Over 50,000 attending (just those mission stations under CFM’s care), plus 1,300 at main campus. Mission stations situated in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Republic of Niger and Sudan.

Conferences. Pastor and Missionary’s Conferences held at CFM’s main site annually, with up to 8,000 pastors and missionaries attending from around Africa. This year marks Kent & Ruth’s 40^th year in Nigeria, which will be celebrated with another large conference to build up frontline gospel workers.

Schools. 4 registered nursery & primary schools, 3 registered secondary schools. 1,500 students. Plus, over 6,000 students being trained in literacy/numeracy through the mission stations.

Children’s Crisis-Care Homes. Residential accommodation, feeding, supporting and educating more than 400 children aged 7+, mostly terrorism survivors, across the two centres near Jos and close to Abuja. These live with us until they complete high school, or circumstances of extended families improve.

Healing Justice. Intervention projects for vulnerable people who have suffered injustice. Includes scholarships for orphaned/displaced children, payment of hospital bills, widows’ rent assistance, food distribution to widows, hunger relief & medical care for displaced people. Assists approx. 250 people per month.

Computer Centres. There are 11 centres strategically located in conflict-fragile communities, training Muslim and Christian youth, promoting peace building, skill acquisition & employment opportunities. Graduating 1,000s of students.

Vocational Training. 3 training centres, instructing in 17 different skills. Over 500 students per year. They learn building, metal work, fashion design, leather work, regenerative farming, electrical work, mechanics, first-response medical care, photography/cinematography, cooking & catering & more.

Hospital. 42 medical and support staff. Over 1,000 patients per month, with 16,000 registered patients. Subsidised rates where required. Outpatient and in-patient care, surgery, specialist consultation, with a team of expert Christian physicians. Free medical outreaches in coordination with evangelistic outreach by CFM bible school students, or with CFM’s Healing Justice.

Legal Aid. For those without representation. 2 barristers working with CFM. 20 to 30 cases advised or represented in court per month, or cases settled through “alternative dispute resolution”.

Media. CFM shows a weekly ½ hour television program in Jos. Our weekly online video outreach reaches thousands of graduates and pastors.

Main Bills: Wages for 650 full-time staff, 4,500 meals per day, maintenance, mission growth, diesel for power, transport costs, staff capacity building and extra staff family support, construction when needed.

Our biggest joy is what the Lord is doing in our students’ lives. “May our lives be a reflection of God's holiness, grace, and truth.” (Ibrahim Ishaya)

God is doing, through the amazing team he has built in CFM, far above anything we thought of or imagined, 40 years ago, when we first arrived in Nigeria. He fulfills his kind and faithful plans for his people, overcoming in the direst circumstances of terrorism, persecution and crippling economic injustice. Peace Begins with Peace with God

Dear Friends,

“But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.” (Amos 5:24) Some translations put justice for judgement. For government, one goes with the other. Its job is to protect the weak and punish the wicked.

Justice & Peace

Twins born at Wurin Alheri Hospital by CS. We love Nigeria for their love for children. Nigeria has a population of around 245 million, with 65% under the age of 25:

A nation with a future. It just needs the gospel and sovereign industrial economic policy for justice and peace.

Another baby born (Grace) to our staff Daniel and wife Mercy, at her naming ceremony at CFM’s hospital, with Kate Shettima (right), Margaret Adinga (centre) and Tope Aiso (right), three leaders in CFM. Grace also born by CS.

Daniel is out around regional schools today, paying fees for the poorest children, to make sure they have a future. This has gone a huge way towards building peace.

There are Christian and Muslim orphans in our wider community, some orphaned by Muslim / Christian conflicts. Reaching out to lend a hand to both, to make sure they can stay in school, is highly effective in building peace, saving the church from further persecution and spreading the gospel to tens of thousands. It is spreading now faster than ever before in this region’s history. And many of those once enemies are now coming to faith in Christ. It’s the same in many nations today, with persecution against truth in different ways. People are looking for truth.
