Riding the Tiger: Presence & Being in a World in Revolt

We witness around us a world in revolt. Yet is a revolution against the old order a natural solution or a necessary path of action? To transition through the current and forthcoming waves of upheaval we may need instead to protect oneself not by aligning with revolt but with a new energetic resonance. By this, we may learn how to better ‘ride the tiger’ of this current phase. Rather than conforming to the present age we can take the opportunity of these fluid times to renew our minds

One of the questions now facing us is how to Be in the world; especially a world that is escalating its digital environment. Within such a digitalised context, human presence and being becomes of upmost importance. It is also a period where we should exercise vigilance and be aware of the contaminating influences and the toxicity of external impacts that we face in daily life. That is, the impressions we receive, whether from social media, entertainment, mainstream propaganda, etc, are the food we intake. We need to take extra care now that we do not feed ourselves on tainted or rotten food. Such impressions – or external food – increasingly become putrefied within a period of social deterioration. These are the current circumstances of our time as we move through a period of transition over the next course of years.

We continue to exist within and alongside the material world, and this should be acknowledged without being subsumed or overwhelmed by it. The world may not understand those who internally do not align with its current direction, for those of such a world do not recognise how they are themselves being forced to adapt and change. It is hard for the fish under the water to know of the coming tides above.

The preservation of inner equilibrium whilst being in the world is beyond any material activity or event. It is similar to a sacred covenant – an unspoken bond. This need not be equated with a spiritual or religious path. Rather, it is a subtle path; a Way of bringing presence into the material world without exerting physical pressure, force, or undue influence. It is a Way of Transmission; a manner of ‘right resonance.’ What is perhaps being asked of us here is to be receptive to the finer aspects of being human; that is, to allow ourselves to bring something into the world that is beyond ourselves. It is a transmission of that vital spirit, what we may call the ‘élan vital,’ or the creative force that comes through the intermediary of receptive individuals. It is a part of us and yet it is not us. We cannot lay claim onto it or sometimes even direct it. It is a force that pushes through into matter, yet it came from beyond matter. Perhaps it may be called an allowance of grace. Whatever we may wish to call it, we can at the very least recognize it as an allowance.

It may be that a successful way to ‘ride the tiger’ during the dissonance of these times is to align with the more subtle forces that are coming into the material realm, and one such manner of alignment is through allowance. Put simply, we become as conduits for collaborative forces. We are implicated with the material world through our very presence, yet we need not be implicated in its corruption or insanity. How can we reconcile ourselves with a world such as we see around us today?

There can be little or no reconciliation with such a divisive and toxic world through any direct means. Interplay with the external world must therefore be indirect and more subtle. Such understanding cannot be told or given to others. Each person must come to their own recognition of the circumstances and condition in which they find themselves. Without any individual revelation to this situation, all internal responses will be muted. Or worse, they will come from a place of conditioning, of mechanized responses that lack a depth of conscious and internal awareness. Already the world is filled with people acting out of conditioned programs and old, engrained physical and mental patterns.

The physical world is preserved and sustained not through its surface actions or events but through its balance and alignment with a greater cosmic harmony. And within this grander harmonic scheme, humanity too has a presence and role. Elements of revolt against this grander harmony that are currently disrupting life on the planet are a frantic and frenetic reaction to a grander order of change that is occurring at a deeper level. It can be seen as a mode of reactive interference against a larger evolutionary harmonic which is causing disruption across the planet, as well as within our socio-cultural systems. All socio-cultural responses that emerge from the same level, such as through political parties, ideologies, cultural movements, etc., continue to preserve the underlying misaligned structures even when they appear to be opposing them. Such changes, if they occur, will only be on the external, superficial level unless there is a deep and radical change in the psychological makeup of the actors themselves. There can be no genuine revolution or transformation by adopting the essential facets of the incumbent society or civilization; this only perpetuates the same game because the same gameboard is being played upon. The world cannot be truly transformed by using the same level of tools – the same cognition or insight – that currently upholds the incumbent system.

The state of the world can only be transcended by the influence of a force, or energy, external to the system itself. A greater authority is required – something that can intervene in the world from beyond its layers of conditioning and programming. As it is said: a person cannot pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. There also needs to be elements, or bodies, upon the world receptive to the incoming influences. Genuine transformation, therefore, is referred to as initiatory change. That is, change which comes about through an internal process of recalibration and acquisition of new faculties of comprehension and cognition. Without initiatory change, people will continue within the older mental patterns and belief systems that are incapable of adaptation to new pathways of perception. Without internal recalibration, it will be like swimming in the ocean and protesting against the wetness. An individual’s state of awareness needs to be of a different order from their surrounding contexts for any action or response to be efficient.

Upheaval and crises are not an end point but indicates that a process is underway. The greater the upheaval, the more radical can be the outcome of the process. Such processes, however, necessitate physical manifestations that must play out within their domain. The aware individual, the person who has undergone internal realignment, may act within the material world, yet they know within themselves that it is not where their allegiance lies. Such an individual feels themselves to be ‘in the world’ but not ‘of the world.’ What this means is that the external world is engaged with, dealt with, and responded to, but this does not interfere with or infect the individual. Such a person is immune to the corruption and toxicity of the world. It can be said that their vibratory frequency is of a different level than that of the dense, material world. The internal change has resulted in a shift in their state of resonance.

And in this, such an individual represents a different order – a different allegiance. It is not an allegiance to the things of this world but rather to that vital spirit – the creative force – that interpenetrate the physical world. Such a presence and beingness in the world is not a moral or judgemental perspective. There remains an acute recognition of the ways of the world although such an individual does not attach or identify with them. This implies a position of exclusion through the action of inclusion. The act of ‘riding the tiger’ in these times is about being ‘present’ – that is, turning-up – within society yet bringing with oneself a degree of sobriety, balance, and rooting (i.e., grounding). Being present also requires us to move beyond the superficialities and appearances of the world – to not be taken in by misleading information and manufactured explanations. Let it be remembered that those who proffer such information and explanations have no real idea of what is occurring on this planet within the grander scheme of things.

The illusion of the world contains aspects of truth, yet this must be perceived within the illusion itself. The world acts as a form of carnival, and is carnivalesque in character, and this must be recognized by those riding the tiger of the current transition. It is important not to be unduly affected by the ongoing carnival, or its carnivalesque character, as this could interfere with the necessary state of resonance of the individual. The most effective way of revolt is to get oneself out of the way. And this is done by switching channels, so to speak. Or to put it another way, by changing wavelength. That way, the interference is not received. And that is why it is also spoken of in terms of presence and being ‘in the world’ whilst not being ‘of the world.’

A NEW OCTAVE: Crossing the Threshold of Chaos

It has long been said that the cosmos has its own laws and language which is referred to as the ‘music of the spheres,’ or musica universalis. This is a metaphysical concept that can be traced as far back as Pythagoras in 6^th century BC, and to his school/teachings of Pythagoreanism. In its most basic form, the idea is that the movement of celestial bodies – of suns, planets, and moons – create a form of music, or vibrational resonance. These ‘celestial vibrations’ then affects life on Earth, in various ways, although they remain physically inaudible to the human ear. This concept was then later developed by 16th-century astronomer Johannes Kepler. To many people, this idea of celestial music (vibrations) is akin to occult philosophy. Occult philosophy, however, is not concerned with the ‘dark arts’ but merely considers that the cosmos is interrelated by a network of correspondences that are invisible, or ‘occulted, ’ to the human senses. Similarly, the ‘occult sciences’ are those disciplines that also draw from this doctrine of correspondences, such as astrology, alchemy, and magic. The kernel of this is that there are correspondences within the cosmos that are imperceptible to the majority of humankind through their current state of physical senses and mental perception. And yet, throughout history there have been those individuals who have endeavoured to describe some of these correspondences in a manner that is, more or less, graspable to the present human mind. One of these individuals, in more recent times, was the Greek-Armenian mystic philosopher G.I. Gurdjieff. For the purposes of this essay, I will refer specifically to his Law of Octaves as it pertains to this discussion.

Gurdjieff is reported as saying (by his pupil P.D. Ouspensky) that ‘The seven-tone scale is the formula of a cosmic law which was worked out by ancient schools and applied to music.’¹ The scale that Gurdjieff utilises is the modern major musical scale recognised generally as do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si, do. This sequence has a semitone at (mi-fa) and, if transition to the next octave is included, a final semitone (si-do). By using this musical scale, Gurdjieff provides a framework, a context, for how cosmic developments take place, the influence of which affects all human life on this planet as well as other events, both natural and human instigated. Such cosmic developments do not occur with an even progression but with two discontinuities in every phase or cycle. These discontinuities or ‘jumps’ occur in the musical scale as the two semitones mi-fa and si-do. Progress through the cycle of the octave is generally consistent, until the moment when the semitones are reached. Progress, or development, can then be stalled, even reversed, unless there is sufficient impetus or momentum to cross this interval, or threshold moment. That is, enough energy has to be made available to enable a leap or jump across this interval period (represented as a semitone). In Gurdjieff’s terms, this necessary extra energy is called an ‘additional shock.’ This shock energy can be provided internally, from within the system itself, or may arrive, accidentally or deliberately, from outside the system. Here is a table that shows Gurdjieff’s Law of Octaves (also known as the Law of Seven):

To understand Gurdjieff’s system, we first need to regard the cosmos as consisting of vibrations – from the finest to the coarsest. Planet Earth is both receiving cosmic vibrations (external to its system), as well as producing vibrations through its own organic life forms. It is the reciprocal harmony through the reception and production (transmission) of vibrations that establishes a coherent system. And yet, as many commentators have already stated, life on this planet is currently experiencing a transition between the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one.

To further expand on this, each stage in this grand octave (such as mi) contains its own octave within. In other words, the stage of mi – The Earth – is itself a full octave of progression within the overall octave. With this in mind, it could be stated that the Earth stage is at the threshold of shifting into a higher octave of the fa stage – all planets. That is, to move into a vibrational spectrum where we are cognisant of our correspondences with all other planets in the cosmos and, accordingly, in correspondence with other intelligent beings of the cosmos. However, to pass this ‘octave threshold’ requires an additional shock (it is a semitone moment). This additional shock, we may speculate, could be provided by the energy that comes from friction, or chaos. This is not a speculation from occult philosophy. If we take a look at the sciences of complexity, we are told that a system inevitably reaches a state of increased vulnerability, where events become increasingly out of synch and disharmonious. At this time of criticality, a ‘breakthrough’ or ‘breakdown’ moment arrives where the system must bifurcate into a higher order system (breakthrough), or it folds in on itself and collapses (breakdown).²

This critical juncture is known as the tipping point, and additional energy is required precisely at this moment in order to push the current system into a higher order of arrangement. Furthermore, this additional energy is often recognised as being chaotic or irregular, since coherent energy is often of a lesser kinetic value. This chaotic energy is the external impetus, or trigger, that tips a system into a higher state of complexity from which a new coherent arrangement is stabilised, and the system continues to flourish. Without this additional chaotic energy, a breakdown moment is almost inevitable. Taking the sciences of complexity, which is a recognised field of study, and placing this within the framework of Gurdjieff’s cosmology we can discern a pattern here that suggests life on this planet is currently experiencing a bifurcation moment that designates a potential ‘jump’ into a new octave of higher order vibrations. However, as stated, this additional energy comes as a shock to the system.

Crossing over into a new octave of vibration first requires that the system must successfully pass through a threshold of chaos.

Crossing the Threshold

If we take but a brief glance at the world around us, we will see that life has entered a period of criticality and vulnerability. Old patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us are being dragged into a place/space that does not – cannot – accommodate them. It is as if there is a quickening in process, in anticipation of an energetic leap, and old energetic patterns are hampering this process. Being at the cusp of a jump into a new octave requires not a dragging of older vibrational baggage but, on the contrary, a letting go (a leaving behind) of outmoded energetic entanglements. The crossing of a threshold moment is a time for disentanglement, not a time for increased entangling. Those who try to pull the old fixtures and patterns with them will find that they are unable to ‘be in rhythm,’ as they say. They will feel an increasing energetic mismatch with the flow of moving forward. They will feel stuck, uncomfortable, out of sorts, and similar related symptoms. It is, at its essence, a divergence in vibrational alignment.

The first question that may arise here is: how long will this threshold crossing take? Will it be many years? From my perspective, I would say that there is no clear delineation: the timing is not universal but relative to each individual. The new octave vibration is already here, like a radio broadcast, only that it requires for people to tune in. What this means is that some people will already have crossed the threshold, others will be reluctant to leave old patterns behind, and there will be those people who will just refuse it outright. The crossing is not a linear phenomenon. It is relational, according to who is able to adjust to a new alignment. This aligning may take many forms, such as physical well-being, mental attitudes, life priorities, taking steps in one’s life path, and many more. What it certainly will entail is a decoupling from the world’s incumbent systems of propaganda, mental programming, and cultural conditioning. We cannot take the current garbage with us if we wish to step forth and cross the threshold. For many people, it’s a garbage we can happily leave behind.

And yet there will be people we know who will resist this next step. We will increasingly find ourselves out of alignment – out of communication – with many of those in our social circle. Afterall, you cannot hear a note that is out of your own bandwidth of frequency. It’s just a physical impossibility – unless you change your bandwidth receptivity. The ability to change bandwidths is inbuilt into all people. It is not only available to ‘the few.’ Yet it is not an automatic re-tuning. It must be activated by the individual. It may not be easy for some to see all or many of their previous beliefs, convictions, and personal investments crumble away as they become obsolete. Saying this, it is simply not possible to pull someone along. This is not a physical path where force alone is sufficient. This is a vibrational crossing. And if a person is pulled, they will only bounce back to their original position as they will not be in relation to the new energetic space. They will simply be unable to gel or align with the new vibrational patterns, just as oil and water do not mix. People will notice that there will be those that were once in their orbit will now drop away and disappear. The two worlds will no longer be compatible – the breakthrough and the breakdown will go their own ways, almost without a recognisable goodbye. Some people are just not done yet with playing the polarity games that have created division for so long across the planet.

The next question that may arise is: what can or should I do? The best answer to this, perhaps, is: not a lot, apart from just being yourself. If you shouldn’t be pulling or pushing others to join you when there is clearly a musical mismatch (a vibrational misalignment), then just be the music yourself – represent the best of you for others to see and ‘get the vibe’ as it were. The best way to demonstrate anything is to show that the thing itself works by itself. Be the best that you are without trespassing upon others or being annoying. Let others come to the path by their own accord, by bringing themselves into the music.

There is an interesting quote I came across from the English mystic and author Reshad Feild:

I have told you a little of the second cycle of mankind. I think you understand that we are at the end of one great cycle of history and are verging on the next. Since evolution does not proceed in a straight line but goes through very definite cycles, it is possible to know, through understanding the laws that govern our life here on earth, something of what we may expect. Just now, as the end of the old cycle approached, more and more knowledge will be released so that it may be preserved and carried on into the next cycle ... I cannot say what this will mean, nor can any man. But it is those who have reached the knowledge of their essential unity with God who will forge the way and build a new world. Before this new world can be brought into being, however, it is said that there are to be two confrontations. The first confrontation will be between those who know and those who do not want to know, and the second between those who know and those who will have to know.³

As the quote says, knowledge is being released into the world so that it may be preserved and carried into the next cycle – into the next octave. Building a new world, further along the spiral, or octave, requires the right type of knowledge applied in the correct way, by those who are aligned or ‘in tune’ with it. What is left behind tends to stay behind, for it is simply not attuned or in resonance to the next steps. This is an organic process; a natural symphony that corresponds to some very ancient laws. We may call it the law of octaves, the law of seven, the law of the stars even. Yet, in the end, it relates to the same music that is playing throughout the cosmos: the musica universalis – the music of the spheres. The music is there for each and all to listen to, once tuned in.

Until now, most of the action has taken place between ‘those who know and those who do not want to know.’ Before the music stops, and people take their position on the new chairs, there will be a period where there will be a discernible difference between ‘those who know and those who will have to know.’ The threshold into a new octave is inevitable, one way or another. The question, as always, will be whether those who ‘have to know’ have yet tuned in. The cosmic orchestra is already playing.

“History is not the balancer of chance and hazard. It does not just happen. The script for the long human story was written by intelligences much greater than man’s own. Certain gains and goals for mankind — and for the biosphere of Earth — must be attained within certain intervals of Earth time. These gains are essential for the balance and growth of the solar system of which the Earth is a part.

The solar system may itself be subject to a similar pressure in the interest of the galaxy of which it is a part. Very high intelligences direct the evolution of the universe in an attempt to ensure that the Divine aspiration shall be realized. These intelligences are coercive in proportion as their material is unconscious – they are persuasive in proportion as their material is conscious.

The universe is a gradient of consciousness and on this gradient the earth occupies a low level. Its highest raw material is mankind. Mankind is collectively unconscious of the evolutionary process of which he is a part, and he is subject therefore to determinism approaching a hundred per cent. Even so, the direction imposed on mankind is only relatively coercive. Because of the high energies which are potential in him, man may not be compulsively directed. Means have to be employed which do not outrage the integrity of his potential nature. This is achieved by arranging a bias in favour of those situations which contain developmental possibilities and by limiting man’s opportunities for making involutionary choices. About this line there may be marginal interplay of determinism and free will.

On the “present moment” of a man or a generation of men these pressures may appear both random and hostile. Responsibility for this process on Earth lies with an Intelligence which has been called “The Hidden Directorate.” It is to be equated either with Demiurgic level or with the level immediately below. No grounds exist for an opinion as to whether this Intelligence is, in any sense, comprehensible to man, a single or a composite Intelligence, or whether it is discarnate or corporeal.

Below this level, certain members of ordinary humanity, in whom qualitative changes have taken place, are in touch with the Directorate and may at intervals share its consciousness. This group of advanced human individuals is what has been referred to as the “Hidden Executive.” The “Executive” works to implement the overall plan of the “Directorate.” This activity is at extra-sensory level. The “Executive” also operates at the level of ordinary life through a descending order of initiated subordinates. These take part in the ordinary life of nations and are almost wholly, but not quite, unsuspected. These are the “Secret People.”

Side by side with action on ‘humanity-in-the-mass,’ the “Executive” and its subordinates are concerned with local attempts to raise the conscious level of individual men exceptionally. Such specially selected ordinary individuals may aspire to qualify for participation in the work of the “Executive.” The process by which they may so qualify is the Magnum Opus — the “Great Work’’. This is equivalent to a vertical ascent to a higher level as opposed to a gradual rise with the evolutionary tide.

Opportunities through which ordinary men who have “begun to suspect” may qualify to enlist in “The Great Work” are never wholly absent at any time in history, but in terms of the Earth’s timescale, they occur irregularly. Such occasions are related to extra-terrestrial events and these events are not at the discretion even of the “Directorate.” When “the solar wind blows”, a major operation of soul-making is begun by the “Directorate.” As a result, a relatively large number of human individuals may complete a significant part of “The Great Work” in a single generation. A small number may reach completion. Both categories will serve the evolutionary process of mankind thereafter, but their post-mortem situations may be different… Knowledge of such matters has never at any time in history been absent, but it has always been available in the form of allegory, never explicitly. Many of the Greek myths are allegorical descriptions of sequences in the “Magnum Opus.”

In recent historical times, corresponding to the development of intellect, suggestions have become increasingly explicit. They have probably never been more explicit that at the present time. This may suggest that the end of a major era is envisaged. There are indications that an “Occasion” is currently developing and that its possibilities are being focused chiefly in the West. It is not possible to conjecture whether this is a major or a relatively minor event. It seems safe to assert that it exists.

… If this is so, and if it is true that information about these matters is now explicit, it may be objected that it is hardly explicit enough to indicate a line of action to those who might be ready to respond. It may be that matters will never be more explicit than they are and that a successful search for a “Source” is — and always has been — the ‘minimum’ price of admission.”

“If the whole of humanity is an organism on another timescale, its ultimate good may require action by an Intelligence possessing an enormously greater present moment. To the individual person, whose present moment at maximum is his own lifetime, such action can suggest only indifference at best and at worst deliberate cruelty.

From pressures on elementary life-forms to produce mankind to, vastly more recently, the manipulation of religious or cult impulses to create environmental opportunities for vast populations – such things are remote from our immediate experience. If influences to coax or restrain human development along preordained lines play on human life, they should be detectable in some shadowy form in our own day and experience.

There are many examples of inventions, individually improbable, being arrived at simultaneously by different people. Writers sometimes find themselves impelled to write extra-ordinary fantasy which is later found to be prophetic. If, as suggested, telepathy is one means by which human activity is incited or inhibited, it is conceivable that ‘spin-off’ from such energies may cause trends of thinking of this sort at mundane level. It may also be that coming events are deliberately fore shadowed to prepare a mental climate for the event that lies on a line of probable actualization.

There are reasons to suppose that almost the whole of science fiction belongs to this category. Space travel and atomic energy came as only minimal surprises to world populations which were barely emerging from the steam age. Jules Verne and HG Wells and a whole host of later writers like Isaac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke envisaged coming developments of science so concretely that they were able to present their “fantasies” as virtual realities. Thus, the ideas became acceptable mental currency in advance of their actualization.

The idea of altering human behaviour by the deliberate manipulation of environment is one with no apparent ancestry. Barely discernible traces of it are to be found in esoteric literature. Suddenly, from nowhere, it becomes a familiar everyday idea.

Suppose man’s future is to involve him in meeting, somewhere in the universe, with life of approximately his own level but in unfamiliar forms. Such an encounter could be rehearsed exactly in the experience of those who at present are trying to communicate with dolphins. Could this have been implanted deliberately in the human subconscious?

It seems that when cultures rise and fall, their arts and their literatures do likewise. But there is something which has a higher factor of survival. Fables outlive fact. Legends penetrate where logic perishes. Folklore, myth and legend transcend the fluctuations of the historical process. It is as though a myth carries such a penetrating energy that it can leap the gap between cultures — a carrier-wave that unites the ceaseless and separate generations.

If there are those whose psychology is superhuman and whose present moment spans many generations of men, it seems likely that they will employ a medium with a comparable timescale. Perhaps they use myth to make the “mankind-child” feel what he does not yet understand — or to recall what he once knew.

Humanity cherishes the myths it does not understand … One day perhaps ...”

“Does the life-process seem like the result of random forces? Or does it suggest the unfolding of a vast and solemn plan? The verdict, in the last resort, must be an emotional one. No mustering of selected historical incidents, no suggested sequence, no inter-relatedness can prove the existence of a noumenal level. Of its very nature this must be invisible. But if there is some great plan for man and the world, with solar and cosmic goals set against millions of years: and if our present state is one stage in such a plan, then certain considerations arise which must be squarely faced.

Does the end justify the means? Can an Intelligence which employs such means be “‘good”’ in any sense we can entertain? If this has been “‘arranged’’, can the Intelligence which arranged it be benign? It seems that any theory of “Intervention” must stand accused by human standards. We feel that suffering is regrettable enough when it is the consequence of chance and hazard. If it is purposive and deliberate, we can only regard it as intolerable. The answer, if there is one, must lie in the idea of scale.

Let us assume that we, as humans, have some ordinary aim to achieve this day. By any standards we are able to apply, this aim is “right” and ‘“‘good”’. To discharge it, we must, let us say, catch a certain bus. The bus is starting away and is already accelerating and only by a strenuous sprint can we hope to catch it. Our decision to make the effort triggers off a whole sequence of bodily events. Extra adrenalin pours into our blood. Our muscles contract in exceptional effort. By our deliberate action we destroy millions of body cells. Each of these cells is a little life. They die — in a real sense they are sacrificed — to our aim. Do we feel compassion? Can we truly say that we experience remorse for their destruction from an action we took?

Here there is a factor of scale which is all-important. Everything in the universe may be significant: but everything is not equally significant. Whether such a concept squares with our subjective ideas of “good” and “‘higher”’ is immaterial. This is how things are.

We seldom notice that our capacity for compassion is a gradient. We can have no more than theoretical concern for the fate of the yeast we use to bake bread. Yet it is life. We feel minimal responsibility for cold-blooded life, increasing concern for warm-blooded life and maximum concern for human life. For cellular life we cannot feel at all. The gulf of scale is too great. It is beyond our limit. This limitation of scale is connected with time: with the maximum and minimum of the “‘present moment” which our consciousness is able to span. A time-scale gap closer to everyday experience may illustrate … Suppose a young child has a thorn deeply embedded in a finger. The mother sees the situation in terms of a present moment vastly greater than the child’s. She sees her baby’s life as a whole, its well-being, growth, maturity. She takes a needle, digs it under the thorn and removes it. The child’s present moment is restricted to the three or four seconds during which a needle is piercing its flesh. In terms of the child’s present moment the mother is committing an incomprehensible act of cruelty, a deliberate infliction of needless suffering. The child does not understand, and cannot, that the mother’s action arises from concern for its own ultimate good. To appreciate this, the child would need access to a present moment which it does not possess and, at its stage of development, cannot possess. Also, the thorn must be the consequence of some action by the child itself – however helpless it may have been to avoid it.

By analogy, world wars may represent no more than instantaneous needle-jabs within a consciousness whose present moment is ten thousand years.”

“It is probably safe to assert that all attempts to discern and connect the elements which might provide a unified theory of history must fail so long as inquiries are confined to the visible shadows and not the invisible substance. The substance, however, has a built-in invisibility; or so it seemed till very recently. Since the early 1950s, a great deal of hitherto unknown material has become available, and in the nature of things this cannot have happened by accident. If it has leaked, it is because those in charge of it have decided to “‘leak”’ it. Separately, the various hints amount to little. Taken together, they suggest, for the first time, the nature of the organization, long suspected but never identified, which is concerned with injecting developmental possibilities into the historical process at certain critical points.

On the basis of internal evidence, it may be legitimate to suggest that this organization is the expression of one of the Centres directing the evolution of the whole human race. Twelve thousand years ago, these Centres withdrew for some 80 generations to prepare for the début of modern man. The suggestion is that one of these, immediately responsible for the West, has decided to come, partially at least, into the open in the second half of the 20th century. It may be that the intellectual development of the West is now at such a stage that the parent can only guide the offspring further by taking it into its confidence.

The Source is not attracted by heroism, but by capacity and ability to respond to its messages. Many seekers tried, but a key was missing. But it was not the kind of key they imagined. What was missing was the realization that “interventions”, designed to inject a developmental impulse into the historical process, are discontinuous. “Occasions” relate to the fortuitous presence of energies on a much vaster scale and perhaps from outside the planet. It is as though a solar wind blows on the earth at intervals. When it does, agents of the Directorate can act to straighten out involutionary trends and produce an evolutionary gain. In the absence of this “‘solar wind’’, there is no possibility of “work”, and hence no activity on the historical scale. The matter is not at the discretion of those who organize the fieldwork; much less of aspirants to participate, however industrious and well-intentioned.

Clearly, in the last decades, information which has been held in impenetrable secrecy for centuries — perhaps millennia — is emerging into common knowledge. It is equally clear that this has not just happened, but has been engineered. It seems to suggest that these references were part of a deliberate policy of releasing information. From all of these published accounts and from other sources, it may be possible to suggest some tentative conclusions.

In summary, these would be: The legend of the “Secret People” has recently received considerable confirmation. Such matters do not, by their nature, “leak” by accident, and it is to be concluded that information has been deliberately released. ‘They’ assert that objective knowledge is a material substance and can be collected and stored like honey. This is done during periods of history when the world does not value honey. At critical junctures, they distribute the honey throughout the world by the agency of specially trained emissaries. Social structures set up in various parts of the world by the agents of the Tradition are later taken over by people without understanding. Certain activity throughout the world apparently causes concern. Agents of the Tradition are concerned about the effects of this. We have suggested that there is behind visible history a hidden influence which is concerned with evolutionary aims for the whole human race.

Telepathy is within the range of existing human mental powers, but for reasons connected with the overall evolutionary situation of mankind, it is vital that this should not be realized at the present time — or indeed within the foreseeable future. Among certain initiates, telepathy is invaluable as a means of communicating certain kinds of knowledge more efficiently than is possible by any other means: for example, to influence individuals and cultures as an integral part of the mandate to act upon the character and knowledge of man.

However, the chief function of telepathy among the people of the Tradition is “to interfere with the success of telepathic experiment on the part of dangerous individuals”. That is, a protective telepathic countermeasure is manned by certain individuals throughout the world. This is only occasionally breached by experimenters in the unauthorized category. It is claimed that telepathy is actually used to induce scepticism about the possibility of telepathy in the minds of people who might misuse it — if they could develop it. It is also used to motivate people towards useless and futile telepathic and other “‘psychic”’ or parapsychological efforts in order to divert them from premature discoveries in the field of esotericism.

Agents of the Directorate state that a form of telepathy can influence plants, minerals and inanimate objects in such a way as to help or hinder projects which would be advantageous or otherwise to mankind from the standpoint of their mandate. Telepathic powers are currently used, and have been used through the whole of historical times, to influence human cultures in such a way that a tension and rivalry is maintained. This offsets natural inertia and ensures that cultures attain their norm of productivity over an historical period.”

“When Demiurgic levels first incarnated on earth to achieve closer control of evolutionary trends, certain ordinary humans were initiated by them: that is, ordinary humans were given access to a technique whereby their minds could become able to process conscious energy and hence to achieve contact with the Demiurgic intention. A certain number of such Initiates have been maintained within the ordinary life of men in all places and at all times. Sometimes they are known or suspected. Usually, they are quite unknown. The line, by whatever name it is known, is the line of esotericism in all religions. It is also the line of esotericism in many other modalities of evolution whose existence is generally unsuspected.

Step by step, trend by trend, mankind and his institutions would be impelled or restrained along a predestined road. Over and over again man would step aside and be guided back; or would step off the road and be halted and impelled to retrace.

Man would be offered a glimpse of an expanding universe and his mind, which measured in leagues, would strain to measure in light-years. Within the millennium which lay ahead of the year 1,000, the specific gravity of human soul-stuff would be required to rise by an amount greater than had been achieved in all the eras that had gone before.

Within the force-field that was moulding him, man would understand little and co-operate hardly at all. From the viewpoint of his own present moment in any of the unfolding centuries, he would see only change without pattern; quixotic ebb and flow; disruption, chaos, order restored and chaos once again. Sacred standards would be cast down and strange, seemingly arbitrary, new standards created. From the present moment of a lifetime of seventy years, all would seem the whim of chance and accident, all without purpose or meaning. Yet from the present moment of Intelligence able to contain the whole history of mankind as a single perception, all would be true end-gaining, deliberate, law-conforming and almost — but never quite — inevitable. If not quite inevitable then certainly necessary; for a great event lay ahead in man’s temporal future. It existed already in eternity and was required to be actualized in time.

The event is a mutation in man’s evolutionary nature involving a new modality of experience, a new organ of perception. Though latent, perhaps, since man emerged from his primate ancestry, it is an organ of experience that has only intermittently been active in certain exceptional individuals. Man is due to inherit it one day as part of his total experience. For this event man had to be prepared.

A certain minimum standard of soul, a certain minimum psychic specific gravity is necessary before such a radical new modality may be risked. Preparation for this — in our view — was begun as a deliberate operation of Higher Intelligence 1,000 years ago. The first steps involved a certain social tolerance, a certain expansion of intellect, a certain instinctive humanitarianism. These had to be established before the first tentative switching on of the new organ could be regarded as viable.

Once we have the key, we shall see that the ebb and flow of history itself illustrates the goals that were required to be gained. Here and there it may be possible to see the agents of the process at work — the Secret People serving, perhaps members of, the Hidden Directorate. But for the most part, their presence, like their purpose, will be obscured from the view of the men and women among whom they walked.”

“Over an immense period of time a process of life has been developed on earth and has culminated in humankind. The process has been achieved by making available on the planetary scene a succession of energies, each higher in frequency than the one before. Constructive, vital, automatic, sensitive, conscious and creative energies’ have been “switched in” in turn and have given rise to the entire evolutionary progression from molecule to man. The action of these energies — seen first in biology and then in history — suggests that each new, higher, frequency is applied while life is still struggling to come to terms with the one before.

Man was capable of no more than minimal consciousness when he was confronted with creativity. Each new stage is switched in long before the organism is fully deploying the energy before. In the natural progression, it can be assumed that at some stage man would have inherited unitive energy — the energy of love. By this is meant objective love and not its precognitive echo in sexual or polar love.

Seen against the progression of energies along the evolutionary process, it may be supposed that unitive energy would lie far in the evolutionary future. Man has not yet accommodated to consciousness, much less to creativity.

Because the fall of man was not in a decisive sense the fault of man, objective justice would require that he should not be obliged to carry more than his own share — probably marginal — of the consequences that flowed from it. Some operation of redemption must have been envisaged immediately the fall took place. An action would have to be taken in the planetary future in such a way as to short-circuit a fault in the planetary past. As this required the removal of something already actualized in time, it could be accomplished only by an agency which was not only outside time but also outside existence. We must also suppose that there were compelling reasons why the operation should be attempted at the earliest possible point. It might be permissible to suppose that the Demiurgic level applied for help. This call was answered; an Action was projected into mankind; a sacrifice was made; a lifeline was thrown. It remained, however, for man to grasp the lifeline; and even before that, he had to be made to understand that such a lifeline existed. Man was only marginally conscious and only a minute spark of the energy of creativity had crystallized in him. Yet he was now being asked to accommodate the second highest energy in the galaxy: the unitive energy of love.

Man’s difficulty was all but insuperable: and it may be surmised that the difficulty of the Demiurgic level, and through it the Hidden Directorate, was hardly less so. The Event had enormous potentiality, but its potentialities could be actualised in full only within a catalytic action successfully performed by the Directorate. We shall suggest that this catalysis was impeded and partly prevented by contingency at material level. At that level, the Event was not understood. If a man had faith he was already saved and would presently know it. Something had been done on his behalf and it had already been done. Ordinary mind could not grasp that the Promise was not to man in a temporal future but to Mankind in a non-temporal future. ““My Kingdom is not of this World” may imply a regression far beyond the mere rejection of materiality.

Yet Demiurgic responsibility for evolution remained. The Demiurges were still obligated to achieve evolutionary gains, in harmony with growth beyond the earth. Their agents, the Hidden Directorate on earth, were still required to contrive the social environment which would provide the necessary opportunities. The mandate of both is to raise the level of consciousness of mankind in general and of suitable individuals exceptionally.”

“A comet crosses the sky and it furrows the earth — and men’s wits — with the energy of its passing. Asteroids collide and scatter their substance across the heavens. On earth, a continent sinks, an island re- emerges from the ocean. A desert becomes a new sea, a fertile land becomes a desert.

Nations, whole races, rise, decline and disappear, leaving only legend to mark their place and their passing. All accident, all arbitrary thrust and collision of blind forces signifying nothing? Or all purposeful, intentional, having reason and significance within some present moment vastly greater than we can imagine?

Until very recent times there was little doubt in men’s minds about the answer. Things happened by intent. The intent might be benign at the level of human life, or it might be hostile but at some level, on some scale, it was meaningful. There is a recognition that the affairs of humankind, the ebb and flow of history, are subject to purposive direction from a higher level of understanding; the process being manipulated by a hierarchy of intelligences — the lowest level of which makes physical contact with humanity.

There are reasons for believing that between 1920 and 1949 an influence of the kind suggested above operated in France, England and America. To avoid compromise with the sometimes fragmented language of occultism, we shall refer to the source of this influence simply as the Tradition. Part of the intention behind the 1920—1950 operation appears to have been to reveal publicly, perhaps for the first time, the mechanism of the Tradition’s own operation. It might be conjectured that human intellect had for the first time reached the capacity for processing the evolutionary ideas involved and had perhaps earned entitlement to this information…

… The information is that such Direction is implemented at the level of life by human agents: that is, by exceptional people attuned to and partly identified with the level above. Is the idea so very impossible? At each stage in evolution the universe expands to the human mind. The first limit of his horizon is nature. God is the trees and the seas and the wind. Then his consciousness expands one step and so does his universe. Now the planets represent divinity, and animism, once the good, is now the enemy of the better. Again, his mind opens. The sun is now seen as the Absolute, subtending and controlling the planets: gods serving God. Later the sun is seen to be only one of many suns in a galaxy of suns and — faster and faster the horizon recedes — the galaxy is only one of innumerable galaxies in a greater whole. This lies at the end of a road where thought cannot reach at all.

At each stage man has to abandon the secure, the trusted, and — for his present moment — the ultimate. At each stage he has to struggle with the denying force of inertia. He has to surmount a mental obstacle as once he had to surmount biological obstacles. If he succeeds, he learns more, understands more, gets closer and closer to participating. It may be that he is now required to confront — and accept — the mechanism of his own evolution. A new — yet old — concept may confront him: the presence of Men among mankind who are his teachers and his taskmasters on the evolutionary road. He may now have to meet once again, after 30,000 years, but on a higher turn of the spiral of understanding, the presence of Secret People in his midst. Who are they? Is it possible to glimpse them, first in the pages of history, then dimly at first, in the daily life of our own times?

Perhaps we may catch such a glimpse.”

Over the past month I have been sharing the Japanese samurai wisdom of Setsuna through serialising all the 100 ‘poetic wisdom’ nuggets of this enigmatic figure here on my Substack channel. It’s been a pleasure to return to these sagely pieces of advice since the book was first published in 2022. Especially now as the world appears to be turning away from wisdom and getting increasingly caught up in a spiraling loop of madness and moral decay. It is for this very reason that I have been turning my attention away from the mainstream narratives and more towards aspects of the ‘bigger picture’ concerning humanity’s future journey.

For some, this picture may look bleak for all we are seeing around us is the acceleration towards increased control, digitisation, surveillance, and curtailed liberties. Yet, as I have said before, these aspects are not the features of an advancing civilization but its opposite: the characteristics of a culture and civilization on its way out. There is an ongoing ‘planetary adjustment’ between energetic ages that will take years, even decades, to move through. We should be prepared for the initial wave of disturbance as older energetic structures are dismantled in order to make way for the new. According to information I have received, we are moving through three windows of evolutionary change, each window lasting for 8 years. These three windows are: 2025-2033; 2033-2041; 2041-2049. As each window is a duration of 8 years, I have named this as periods of a ‘new octave.’ Further information about these windows of change can be found through the ABE Communications, a Substack channel that I run which shares the messages and insights of the consciousness of the Unified Field. Also, I have prepared a series of essays that explore these themes. These are ‘A New Octave,’ ‘A New Modality of Existence,’ and ‘Riding the Tiger.’ These essays will be published respectively here on my Substack channel later this summer. Yet first, I will be publishing a video series of 7 episodes that explore the grand themes presented in the enigmatic work The People of the Secret by Ernest Scott (a pseudonym).

Many people think (are convinced even) that the real author of this work, and the person behind the pen-name of ‘Ernest Scott’ is Edward Campbell. Campbell may have been associated with the work, yet he is not the ‘real author’ either. Yet this is not a trail worthy of following. What is of importance is the information contained therein.

Through this series of video essays, I shall attempt to present some of the core elements of the ‘bigger picture.’ Such information may be controversial to some minds, yet important here is for our minds to be stimulated (and perhaps even activated). Starting next week – on June 20^th – the first video essay will be released, and all subsequent video-essays weekly thereafter at the same time. First, the Substack post will display the text of the video, followed at the end by the video itself (so please scroll down to the end if you wish to see the explanatory video). I hope this upcoming series will prove stimulating.

Do not try to analyze yourself with the intellect alone – you exist as a whole being.

Do not think of buying yourself wholesale. Bring the pieces of yourself together first

Love, compassion, forgiveness, creativity, and the ineffable force of the human vitality are not to be consumed but expressed.

They are given life when they come through you.

They cannot be traded, although many try to.

They cannot be negotiated, though many have tried.

The source of the treasure within you is the unfathomable that lifts a life into resonance and beauty.

Try to create a life for yourself that corresponds with your intuitive sense of self.

If your lifestyle contradicts how you truly wish to be, then you will not be free.

It is essential to find your liberty - to express your inner wish in life.

To be human is not to stand still with the gifts you already have, but to push for a breakthrough in your greater potentials.

You were born with a beginning – not with an end.

You will always have further to go.

To be alive in this crazy world is to participate in it.

Engage with the livingness, not the deadness, of the world. Feel with the whole body, not just think with the mind. Live as a whole and not through the parts.

Your Self loves Truth.

You know you need to live – You just have to find out how you need to live.

Your life in this world needs meaning. It needs those things beyond the superficial, the entertaining, the seemingly pleasurable. It seeks for the depth and longevity of things. It seeks for the Real.

Your inner Being seeks to Be in the Real. Everything else is secondary.

Listen to your Self!

Your inner being feels and knows what is right. You can hear it - if you choose to listen.

It is a Being of fellowship, cooperation, and truth. It exists in freedom, yet often it is caged with the binds and conditioning of your culture.

Strive to set it free – allow your Self to Be!

The human Being is not an existence in isolation – it is in resonance with everything and everyone around it.

Every person affects others in ways unique to each. No person resonates as a lonely island.

You each live and thrive within a vast unified ocean of Being-ness.

Be careful - Friend – not to allow external chains to restrain you or be placed inside of you.

Once inside, such chains are more insidious because you are not aware of them. They operate with impunity.

You may carry the illusion that you are free when instead you walk around weighed down by these chains.

For you to be free, first gain awareness of the existence of your own Being.

Start with yourself. Be your Self.

Be alert at all times.

Be aware of salvation masquerading as prophets.

The broken world is a marketplace of greedy merchants selling their false wares as easy satisfactions. Do not be deceived that any necessity can be bought for a price. Such merchants would sell you back to yourself!

The broken world is a marketplace of illusions, ideals, beliefs, opinions, disorders, and all the byways and bindings of your artificial societies.

Traverse the labyrinth of this reality - but do not become forever lost, O Friend.

Do not turn away from the inner gaze.

Many people in this reality are distracted. The broken world makes people forget the gaze that looks inwards. They are ruled by cruder stimuli. These are the impacts that excite, entertain, and cause them to fear.

Do not fear for the loss of your identity – it was only a temporary one loaned to you. It was never You.

You know who you are when you can feel at home in the distracting circles of this world.

Have you met yet the creature of inner laziness?

It is the invisible creature that eats away at you whilst pretending to nurture you through illusion and falsity. Inner laziness begets more laziness, which then requires greater feeding.

Inner laziness, if not caught in time, may eventually grow into a full personality. It is often such personalities which shout the loudest and attempt to run the world. Be wary of the loudmouths!

Inner delusion is as dangerous as external tyranny.

If you are not living through your Self, then you are not fully living at all. You have given your authority over to illusions.

The broken world is beguiling and tempting. It feeds you with pretty picture images and hot air.

Your Self needs to be expressed – to be acknowledged. Or else it can slip down into the realm of lesser reality.

Do not let the Self be mute whilst the mind runs ahead with its noisy ramblings.

The Self wishes to rise to the surface like a sea creature wishing for air. Do not push it down under the waters with your muteness!

Allow the Self to return to the surface, to crack the illusion of your reality bubble, and to scatter mouthfuls of fresh air once again.

Let the Self come forth and speak!

When you feel secure, you cease to seek your freedoms.

The world acts like a ‘comfort jail’ and you become the willing prisoners. Everything depends on the bubble you live within.

Within your bubbles you live your lives in mimicry, drawn into your own fantasies and games.

Are you playing – or are You for Real?

The broken world does not wish to encourage your genuine Self. Instead, it seeks to dampen and splinter your connection to Self. This is the game it plays, and you must play the game back – but better!

Do not allow yourself to be herded into worries, debts, and doubts.

Do not be like an unrecognized child that sits away in the corner. Bring out the child-spirit and be proud of its presence.

Beliefs may make you desire heaven and fear hell. Yet these are less than the breeze that moves the leaves on the trees.

The old gods have swung like pendulums over an abyss.

It is now in your hands to take back the power of Being. It is your responsibility to change belief into inner certitude and the greatness of the human spirit.

Be solid in this – stand your ground!

Look here – break the old patterns that no longer work for you.

The old gods took you upon their hook. You also sought them out from afar and chased after them as needy children.

You were chasing the hunt not knowing you were carrying the treasure within you all along.

The true gods knew this and tried to tell you. Their voices were drowned out by the rising human shouts of power. These artificial towers of power will not last forever. A day will come when they shall crumble into dust.

Then shall you come back home to yourselves.

Unhappiness is an epidemic.

People are spreading the virus of passivity and lethargy.

Without meaning, it is too easy to become victims for loneliness, anxiety, and depression.

Be one of those few who seek for meaning in life. Elevate yourself from the material dross.

A life seeking power is ultimately a meaningless pursuit. It may provide material gain yet it is a temporary substitute.

Seek for the permanence and not the transitory.

To seek meaning is worthy in itself - do not let it go!

You can find meaning in family, friendships, work, activities, and the relationships that fill your daily life. Yet when the search for meaning goes inward, it is often neglected or forgotten about.

There is no meaning in life and the universe, say some. Meaning is in what we do now, say others.

Yes, to the both of them - Yet there is more!

There is meaning in where you are going, my friend.

There are meanings that haunt a human life as well as nurture it. Part of the trick is finding the balance.

The broken world has hijacked the notion of being and has turned it into a ‘having.’

To Be is now To Have.

The more things you possess, the more of a person the world thinks you are.

Yet sometimes to ‘have’ nothing is to ‘be’ everything.

Always place the human being first.

There is allowance for so much growth within you. Do not let this fertile soil go barren.

The ‘being’ of the human being is indescribable in words.

Philosophy will not be able to get at its essence no matter how hard it tries, or how many words are used up. Philosophy describes a thing, yet does not partake of it. It does not become a part of the thing described.

Philosophy and words are observers but not a participant.

True ‘being’ is shared and communicated by experience. Words should not be allowed to rule – not even these words here!

Words possess things – they attempt to make the intangible, tangible.

In the expression of being, the essence comes through the lived experience.

Make yourself truly exist through the act of being human.

Transform yourself away from the crooked workings of this world.

The broken world is upside-down – it favours the human ill-being, but not the human being.

Some people have gone so far out of themselves that they have lost their way back home.

The human being is at the centre, circumference, and everywhere.

Recognize, Friend, that the origin of your discomfort is in your lack of being. Or rather, in your ill-being.

Know also that there is a way to overcome, to heal, this ill-being. To heal your ill-being, it is necessary to make changes in your way of living.

Begin by changing what is in your mind – empty it out and refill!

Change your perspectives – and this shall make a change within your heart.

Listen – step back from confrontational situations. Be aware not to be caught in their snare or energies.

When you are combative between yourselves, you are preserving the broken world.

The broken world does not engage with the genuine human Self. Such a world does not care for the interior world of the human. It treats the human body as a shell.

Seek for vitality and those things that energize you.

Make a space between you and any external engagement that drains your energy.

The way to life is not through functionality.

The way of functionality is the way of the dry, the artificial, the lifeless.

Do not allow the world to regard you only in terms of your productive function. This will alienate you from your true worth and is spirit-destroying.

People have been crushed by this form of functionality. Do not buy into it – do not agree with it.

Abide by the creative and the visionary!

This broken world models itself on that which it can touch and see.

Abandon this method – become the mystery.

Abandon the model – embrace the metaphysical.

Abandon the mode – enter the music.

Life often demands that you become detached from your Self to deal with the demands of mundane living.

After a while this becomes automatic. You learn to live in absence from your true Self.

This ‘absent self’ is encouraged by society and praised by the systems around you. Do not succumb to this numbing.

Escape from the prison of the absent self. Recognize both the parody and the tragedy in this.

The artificial cultures around you fear the space of stillness. They prefer speed over the stillness.

The world likes to run ahead of itself. Yet this speed is so fast that it may leave your spirit behind. Take time to meet yourself. Do not allow the world to make you absent.

The external world takes so much from you, and yet in return offers only the minimal for your survival needs. How can you keep on sowing if you do not also participate in your own harvests?

Sow so that you may reap. Learn what it is to truly gain from Self.

It is easier for the world to maintain war than it is to maintain peace. Peace time is a more difficult state to maintain.

Consider this - there is some truth in it.

During times of war, priorities change. Priorities and responsibilities often become clearer. During times of peace, people are left to find meaning and responsibility for themselves, and this often proves more difficult.

If you wish to be resilient, make the peace within your Self first.

Nothing that is true can evolve through forms of tyranny.

The only true progress and development is through liberty and flexibility. These are essential factors.

There is no replacement or alternative to individual responsibility. Take it upon yourself to be responsible for your Self, and then for others.

Do not shed the cloak of responsibility for you shall freeze without it.

Have you yet come to recognize that life consists of its own abundant trivia?

This is the plague of the commonplace – the blah blah blah that captures the attention of wandering minds.

The commonplace should not usurp the central tasks in your lives. Protect your sincere intentions from the vagaries of others. Protect your meaningfulness from the gossip and gameplay of others.

Be mindful to keep your central tasks close to your heart. Resist the influence of the broken world to take away your essential humanness.

Look! Life is so narcissistic.

It is like a looking-pool for people to become lost upon their own reflections.

Reflections are placed throughout and all around this realm. They are called different things, and yet they all steal your gaze. If you look into them too long, you will be lost.

Be careful of believing in imaginary things and calling them real. Stay away from decorating your lives with these illusions.

Life is an enticing looking-pool smiling back at you. Stay awake!

The unity of Being brings forth its own light. It shines constantly. It is energized from the source within.

It is a light of wholeness, and spreads joy. Its warmth brings compassion, forgiveness, and unconditional love.

It is a light of all colours and yet none – for it is unified and contains all.

It is in relation to all things within and without.

This is the human beingness.

Be careful not to get drunk from the false ways of your own thought.

False thinking becomes the phantasms that populate the external landscape.

You have replaced your gods with ghostly substitutes when you should have stepped forth into your own freedoms.

Once again, you have submitted yourself into chains more willingly than ever. From gods to gaols of social conformity.

The truth is so much more than this, and forever shall be.

Admit it – you have never been taught to love yourselves.

From the beginning you were thrust into a gaping, wounded world. You were told to be victims, to be suffering for your sins. This was always an upside-down thinking.

There are no sins upon you. The only weight is the humiliation you shelter within. If you seek release, raise up your spirit and see the world for what it is.

Cut the cord of treachery. Break away and set sail upon the glory-waters where you belong.

You have been waiting for yourselves all along.

Why seek endlessly for explanations?

Do not seek to justify the world and to invent things to justify your lives to yourselves.

Why seek to explain the universe when you are still at a loss with your Self?

If you wish to consider the rational purpose of the universe and the world – begin by going inwards. Seek first the great irrationality of being endlessly human in a world of continual death and rebirth.

Learn to live with that first.

Usually in life people understand two paths: they either express or repress.

Expressing is not necessarily worthier than repressing. It all depends on which type of energy is being used.

To repress oneself does not have to be negative if it is done with the care of stepping back into oneself, with observation.

Do not be caught out by simple black-and-white polarities. To live within this polarity will only eat away at the spirit, the inner life.

Trying to make things join together which are not meant to be is like trying to make the eyes see themselves.

See how you are besieged by your own misconceptions?

Not everything goes in a straight path – have you not heard of the paradox?

Just because there is physical connectivity does not mean you are truly connected. The true connections are the ones you make within yourself.

Do not mistake the hunger for the food.

Be settled with yourself.

There is a place of stillness within you that needs to be nurtured as a retreat. It is not an escape from the world outside – rather, it is a refuge.

In the middle of the chaos, you should be able to be still with calm.

To be your Self is not a declaration. It is a state – a place of being. Show others the way by being in this space.

Treat yourself as YOU and as no-one else.

The ways of the world will try to constrict you. Your reality is a challenge for your freedom.

How can you be truly free when you are compelled to fit into the regulations and ways of the world?

There is no need to adhere to a fixed system, religion, or creed.

Be natural. Be at home with your own nature and discover your own mystery.

Enter that internal space where a person may undergo their own transfiguration.

Seek your freedom now.

The external world is good at creating separation between your Self and spirit. The world without will often try to create a splinter within you.

There is a great mystery that lies closer to home.

Do not allow the greatest treasures of beauty, spirit, selfhood, and love to become strangers to you.

Do not be tempted to barter for the original parts of yourself that the world tells you are scattered against the wind.

It is not natural to be stuck in repetition. Repetition is a sign of an unnatural order.

Unnatural orders are used to create artificial environments to entrap you. This is a sign of a broken world.

A broken world does not wish for too much free human expression. Seek internal freedom.

Freedom within must be sought first before external freedom can be gained.

Those who seek for power external to themselves are most likely to show vulnerability in times of crisis.

Power without is a crutch, not a centre.

Authority is a role that broken systems abuse. When it manifests as control rather than responsibility, it has deteriorated into a lesser form.

The world will entice you to join with it - to accept its artificial ways. To succumb to this only weakens the self.

Be aware of the corruption of the world. These are the temptations that strive to keep a person from awakening to their Self.

Have you noticed how people have an affinity for the negative? This is because the negative is often more alluring than the positive.

Negativity creates a self-inflicted odd excitement and nervous energy.

Because it demands your attention, you feel naturally drawn to it. Yet this is not natural – it is an artificial attraction born from your conditioned need for exhilaration.

Do not fear to be at rest.

Be still - Be at peace.

Humans need to learn how to get out of their survival mode.

So many people live in ways that do not nurture them. They end up living only to survive. It is then that they see the world as competitive.

The world has its forces that people are compelled to struggle with.

Participants become your foes. Objects become your obstacles. Indulgences become your coping mechanisms.

The survival mode entraps you within an unpleasant game. Beware!

To seek for dominance over others is a form of entanglement.

You will never be truly free if your energy is used in this way.

Do not be a tenant within your own bodily home.

If you constantly live outside of yourself, you will forget how to re-enter into your own house.

A person must take responsibility for getting into their own ruts.

They get into them by seeking safety and security. They seek the shelter of routine.

This is like having to push a large boulder up a hill only to have it roll down again – for eternity. These are the self-inflicted ruts people like to own. They roll their own boulders constantly up the hills of their lives.

So few people recognize the choices they have before them. There are always choices.

When you feel that you are living in peaceful and balanced times, it often happens that you put your attention onto ‘problems’ that really are not problems at all.

There is a tendency to create problems or ‘issues’ out of the smaller events because such smaller disturbances are more noticeable during such peaceful times.

When in crisis, people focus only on the larger, more immediate issues.

It is often the human tendency to seek a form of distraction or disturbance to bring some kind of dynamic into life.

Do not become so entangled in your own patterns, habits and modes of behaviour. Step back – do not invest in them. Rather, observe them.

How easily people are drawn into their own vortex of undisciplined energies. It is like jumping into a trench in the ground.

People dance to the groove of their own making, yet the piper plays from without.

Entanglements fog your perceptions. It is easy to forget how to see the beauty in simplicity. Instead, people perform their tricks.

Yet who are they performing for? Themselves? For those who keep the social norms?

Always remember to take the necessary space to pull back, to disentangle. Like in music, the intervals are needed in order to unwrap the melody.

If you hear a cacophony of sounds, you are not flowing easily. Get back into your rhythm.

Life encourages you to be submerged into the complexities. Layer after layer covers you until you sweat. This is the intoxication of the material world.

Strip it back! Do not be afraid to unravel the dishevelment of your life.

Do not become the victim of others. Defend your own ground - let your spirit be solid and strong.

Bring everything back into your Self.

Be gentle with yourselves.

It is okay to pull back from engagements of time, energy, and outer beliefs. These things do not truly belong to you anyway. You have only been lent them for a time, and soon you will have to give them back.

Do not get too entangled in these loans. You do not possess them, so why allow them to possess you?

Life is lived amongst borrowed things.

You swim in waters not your own. Learn to navigate the shallows as well as the deep waters but find your island of rest.

People often cling to their self-made monsters.

They think they are lurking under their beds or within their minds. Yet your Self did not place them there. These are the mysterious forms from the deep places in your unseen mind.

The ancient sailors used to write There Be Dragons on their maps for uncharted territories.

Now you also do the same for your own uncharted regions – mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Learn to tame your dragons and make the uncharted territories your new home. If you do this, you will have the ability to leave behind the old waters of illusion.

Your lives will always be tainted so long as you are fighting your illusions.

You are as seeds in the ground trying to grow, trying to reach up. The shadows of illusion show you from where the sun shines. Step by step you need to reach out.

A sprouting tree with too much weight will not be able to grow forth. Its head shall forever be bent to the ground, seeing soil but never sky – the dark but not the light.

Raise your head lightly!

Do you feel genuine?

Your cultures do not know how to nurture authenticity. They make you rely on outward forms that deny an authentic human experience.

Do not let the external world turn your essential needs into toxic entanglements.

Do not be amongst the wounded. Be your own healer!

Your moralistic and idealistic approach to transformation often becomes your own obstacles. You become blemished by adhering to external notions.

All your blind striving and need for self-surrender, driven by external structures, is like a naked man trying to lose his shirt.

What you truly are cannot be caught by pursuit nor escaped from by flight.

When something truly becomes effective, it disappears.

When a thing is present it signifies that you are still in need of it. By being or doing a thing, the idea of ‘it’ disappears. You need to dissolve the structure of a thing.

Often what you need to do is just to get out of your own way. Stop pushing yourselves around.

You should stop trying to eat your own mouths.

Humans are good at trying to reach more clarity by making things more complicated.

A good place to begin is to realize that there is not the necessity to ‘seek for purpose’ all the time – you are purpose.

Instead of striving, learn to be.

The paradox of those wishing for a ‘spiritual life’ is that those who try hard to make themselves great often become small.

Have you become addicted to labels that define your thinking patterns?

Once you accept a pattern from outside, you allow it to define you.

Society tries to tell you how to ‘be’ and if you listen too much, you forget just being.

And then you end up chasing your tails.

You may laugh at dogs going around in circles – have you ever wondered that they might be trying to tell you something?

Remember that nobody can explain yourself to your Self. They can only explain patterns of thinking.

Rather than train yourself to become a model of thinking, become your genuine, unique self. Learn this first.

When you first shine the light within yourself, it seems so dark. Do not imagine this darkness as something unwelcoming or dangerous. It is a soft darkness, necessary to shield the shy spirit.

Look inside with a candle, not a glaring flashlight. Enter with gentle steps, not loud stomps.

Be wary of external talk and gossip.

The more entangled into these external tentacles you become, the more you give away personal power and responsibility.

You do not have to go outside of yourself to come to any real place.

External travel is for foreigners. Become known to yourself.

A person who lives all their life entangled in external matters have evicted themselves from their true home.

Have you noticed that when under stress you often tighten up? How rigid and brittle this makes you become. You are then more vulnerable to cracking under the stress.

There is nothing permanent or rigid within the human body. It replenishes itself, and replaces its cells, continually. This fluidity and replenishment should be reflected also in how you live your life.

Let no-one compromise your dignity. Your inner nobility cannot be taken – only you can give it away.

Neither should others have power over your Self, nor you power over that of others.

It is a human trait to become attached to your wounds. People feel an obligation to suffer as if they deserve it - to be human is to suffer is a motto of your world.

This is an invention. A remnant from past broken beliefs. Suffering does not make a person, any more than drowning makes a sailor.

Do not let old wounds return for another round. They have been paid once.

No not let them take their payment again. You are being frauded if you repeat the payment to old wounds.

Power is a theme often projected through the shadows that move through this world. Observe the shadows carefully!

A dulled mass life lived by the masses is unable to fully absorb this collective shadow.

The frenetic activity of a splintered world belongs more to the shadows. They roam as phantasms. Do not be tempted to linger among the dead.

Shadows offer only false desires that disappear when grasped at. Your hand shall remain empty.

Reach for the Real – the full cup.

The human Self lies transparent. And yet your eyes are cast upon the shadows that your bodies and actions make. Do not live life as a puppet.

It is as if you only step into the sun in order to see the shadows cast.

Move away from the glare of the corrupt world and back into the transparency of the Self.

You can betray your Self and no-one else in the world will ever know about it. Yet you alone will be forced to pay the price.

No-one ever escapes forever the payment required for their Self.

Shadows exist as part of the life of humanity. You cannot escape them.

The further towards the light you walk, the greater your shadows become. The trick is to accept and allow the shadows to exist as part of you.

By acknowledging them, you can embrace them and unify them into you.

If you do not accept your shadows, they will eat away at you, or you will hide in the dark believing that your shadows are extinguished.

Do not trick yourself by staying hidden in the dark.

Your fears become your shadows too. You may try running away from them, believing they are unreal or somehow alien.

Your fear shadows exist as part of your realm. They can also teach you if you learn how to deal with them. Fear shadows can show you the trickery of your reality.

Do not be afraid to meet your Self. Learn what it means to become your Self. Use everything – the memories, the experiences, and even the shadows.

Not until all these come home into yourself can you rise up to meet your Self.

Humankind has made a religion out of the Game.

Rather than playing your parts, your parts play you.

To give yourselves meaning, you often invent and show off your appearances. Yet these appearances, since they are illusions, become the shadows that you project as your self.

Do not live your life in shallowness.

Do not promote such invented appearances!

Darkness is only a difference in shade and light. There is no depth. There is no perception. Perceptions belong to the human realm.

Being human means that you live in varied realms, populated by things of all shapes, sizes, contours, and textures.

The human being can take in these forms and shapes and turn them into something wonderful.

Become the magician!

Diversity has to exist because the human being is a unity. Just as there is light, so there is also darkness. As there is the feminine, so there is also the masculine. These are merely aspects of the unification.

To ignore them – or worse, to deny them – is a result of your lack of awareness.

The shadow side does not wish to be fought, struggled over, or conquered.

It wishes to be acknowledged and embraced for what it is – an aspect of your overall unity.

The darkness of the world exists because of the light. It is given existence in contrast to the light. It cannot exist alone.

They are both one and the same.

So also is the human being a combination that, at the core, is one and the same.

The repressed side of the human being forms the darker things of your realm – know this.

This becomes the bubble that many of you live within. Some people live within darker bubbles than others. They become self-enclosing, like suffocating cocoons.

Many of you do not grow out of your cocoons during a whole lifetime.

Your shadow can become a shield that then absorbs you.

Do not live within your shadow when you should be basking in the sun.

It is said the human being becomes its own worst enemy.

Yet you are also your own best saviours.

Become porous. Allow the world to move through you. Let your perceptions be a subtle lens.

Remember - there is a constant flow from without within – within without. As waters in constant flux and movement.

Each of you were born exactly where you are. You were not born next door. Or in another town. Or in another country. Another culture. You were born exactly where you are – to Be who You can Be.

If you consider everything in your life as an accident – think again.

No one else is here to do what you are to do. There is something special for everyone, even within what feels like a mundane life.

Life may feel dull at times – yet a human life is never ordinary.

Each person can do things in a way that no-one else can. People can do things similarly, yet each person has their own style, their own art.

There is uniqueness within every human act. It is a great wonder that so much uniqueness exists within such togetherness.

A human being can redefine themselves. They are not meant to leave life the same as when they entered.

Some amount of transformation is expected. It may only be a little.

Yet if a person leaves the same as they came, they have missed something very special.

To be human is to seek expression. It allows you to give form to the invisible and to make the intangible into the tangible.

It is your way of grounding the energies of the universe and giving them release.

The human being needs to put down roots in the invisible landscape before they will manifest within the external world.

Feel the earth beneath your feet before you try to reach for the sky.

The Self is immensely grateful to the body for allowing it to experience being human.

There is so much depth to being human that words will never give justice. When you appreciate being human, you celebrate your body and your spirit together - merged as one.

It is a blessed unity. It is not something sentimental or metaphysical. It is a mystery but not mystical.

Being human is a journey through the hinterlands of love.

The greatness of a human life is staring each of you in the face.

To live as a human is to try to be whole – in harmony with yourselves; in balance to the world around you.

Do not allow the disjointedness of the world to splinter the human condition. You increasingly live fractured lives, split between divided loyalties, priorities, and attention.

For so long you have been putting everything outside of you. You have numbed yourselves and blame this lack of feeling onto other things. There is a plague of sleepiness that has crept into many of your cultures.

Do not become a parody of the living!

To be human is not without its difficulties. To be aware takes attention and effort. Do not take your ‘awareness’ for granted – much of the time you are not!

You need to belong to yourself. Stay away from drifting upon the dull waves of social conformity.

It is about coming back to yourself, and to really know your own place – and to be comfortable there. It is a place no one can take away from you.

It is up to you to enhance your life – not to seek compensations for a life not lived.

You express the universe within this world – although you may not fully understand it.

Your philosophies and thinking do not express the majesty of the cosmos. Words ramble through descriptions like ants walking over a page of letters.

Only by being truly human can you express the inexpressible. Allow it to come through you, like a breeze or a nudge.

Your belief in the gods gave you a stepping-stone to feel wonder and awe in the grand cosmic scheme. Now the responsibility of this awe falls upon your own shoulders.

The gift is now in your own hands. The gods have stepped back for a reason – a very good reason.

As a human being you have a choice – to sense the truth, or to ignore and suppress it.

You have the gift of knowing this truth.

Do not let it be a wasted gift!

Do not invite your ailments to stay as guests. Your inflictions of depression, anxiety, stress, and other invasions try to deny your glory. Such ailments try to persuade you that you are not good enough, or not worthy. They are cruel delusions.

The human being is a glorious living manifestation. Arise and own this greatness. Take it into your heart and spirit and appreciate the wonder you are.

Do not listen to ugly detractors – deny them their false glory.

Are you one of those persons who feed upon their shadows?

The shadow is simply a name given for that which cannot be directly known. This unknown within – the ‘unknowingness’ – can haunt you. It nibbles away at you and rattles your sense of well-being.

People are generally sensitive to qualities in others that they have been burying within themselves.

Do not live at the whim of fantasies.

Are you living in someone else’s box? The world will try to create structures, boxes, routines, and all kinds of fences to keep you tamed. Do not give away your natural elegance.

Each spirit displays a gentle wildness. Not chaotic, but playful, adventurous, curious. Cultural cages extinguish this internal flame of wild, fluid joy.

The human being is a truth within a world of magic spells.

The human spirit is a truth within an illusory reality.

Look at yourself. You cannot see your own face! You cannot see yourself from behind. And yet you give over your power to this limiting vessel. Yet the Self sees your face – the Self sees you from every angle, every dimension, and never asks for power.

The human being travels outside of itself in search of life. A whole lifetime can be spent seeking in the wrong direction.

Remember the tale of the fool who was searching for his shadow under the glow of the moon. Do not be in the wrong place for your inner needs.

To be human is to be always porous. There is no hardened shell, no impermeable membrane.

Life is a constant infusion - a flowing of without within, and within without.

There is no need to build a bridge. There is no gap to cross.

In the Kingdom of the Self there is no competition, no longing for control.

Be in that Kingdom.

No two people in this world are the same. And yet they came from the same Source. They shall return to the same Source. Between this there is a lifetime of creativity, joy, and discovery.

Remember to celebrate your diversity within the grander unity. Do not let the ‘I’ get carried away with Itself.

The ‘I’ the world gives you is praised and encouraged. The world is overrun by runaway ‘I’s’. All these ‘I’s’ are pairs of eyes that see and watch over you – sometimes suspicious, fearful, distrusting.

Lower the ‘I’s’

Live within your essence.

Each of you shares the outer world with others. But life is not always fair! Different people play by their different rules. And yet the inner world does not play in these games.

Do not waste the inner life by sharing it with the unfair outer realm. If others ignore you, then remember that they are only ignoring themselves.

The outer life does not want to know about the inner world. It is a foreign land to them. Yet each human can move silently within their inner world. You can take it with you wherever you wish to go!

You can touch the outer world with the magic of the inner Self, unbeknown to others.

The human being is not a program. You are not destined to act in set ways. Liberate your behaviour patterns.

When you become predictable to others, you become predictable for yourselves. Do not lose touch with your magic. Whatever is lost can always be found again. Everything can be regained.

Your inner world is a secret, enchanting landscape. There is no need to fear it or ignore its beckoning.

To walk this internal landscape is more nourishing than climbing a thousand external plateaus.

The human being is in a continual process of transformation. You are growing up, growing out, and growing within. Your self is trying to understand its Self.

Be quiet – you need to listen to each and every sound. The sounds from the world outside and the whispers from within each body.

The gods have left you in peace for you to learn how to continue the journey yourselves. Yet you are not alone.

You have only been given space so you can walk on ahead.

Walk on!

Hey – listen!

Are you afraid to be on your own?

Can you be bored? Can anyone truly be bored when immersed in the source of life?

Why be bored when life is constant activity and renewal?

Do you feel dull without sensual gratifications? Do you not see how you grab for the noise and distraction of sensory indulgence?

Yet to be – to be human – is also to be still. To be quiet. To spend time listening. Without this silent space there will be no place to meet your Self.

Hey – listen!

Do you feel your spirit longing?

Do not confuse this internal hunger – a longing for meaning and communion and connection – with the compensation of external stimuli.

Feed the longing of the Self – or else you will grow your external dependencies.

Each human needs to find the Self. But do not go hunting after it with full regalia. Allow it to find you. Allow it to come forth.

When it comes to meet you, you can then go forth to meet it.

Meeting your Self is a mutual arising.

There is a part of You that no one can see.

It is hard to recognize. Maybe you do not realize it is there?

It came before the body, and the body gave it a home, gave it shelter.

There is something so deeply hidden and secret within each human being

– and yet longing to be known.
