My last piece here outlined a new experiment, one revolving around meal prepping—basically, cooking a bunch of food at one time so you have food ready the rest of the week.

About five months ago, I bought a Fitbit Sense 2 (possible review down the road).

It was a spur-of-the-moment decision, one that probably cost more than I should have spent, but it is what it is. Yet within the associated software is a thing that notes the American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate activity per week or 75 minutes of intense activity.

The Fitbit uses your heart rate to determine if you hit that 150-minute threshold, counting intense minutes as two times as many.

And really, meeting that minimum isn’t hard.

The Knighton Experiment is, for the most part, about building a better me and hopefully encouraging some to build a better them. For me, that has involved a lot of getting my ADHD under control, and while that’s working a bit better than it has, it’s not the totality.

Having better health simply has to be part of any definition of “better” you care to use. After all, it doesn’t matter how focused you are if you’re not able to do all the things you want because of chronic but preventable illnesses.

That means, at least in part, weight loss. That’s not all of it, though, which is why I’m starting with a higher-fiber diet as part of the experiment.

The whole purpose of this particular Substack is to experiment on myself. Nothing horrific, of course. I don’t plan on implanting strange DNA into myself to see if I get superpowers, for example.
