Bonjour!

Happy September and Happy Virgo month. This is my birthday month, and I saw a very funny quote yesterday that says, “A group of virgos is called correct.” I couldn’t agree with this quote more. I am sure my family would also hesitantly agree with this.

It’s still incredibly hot here but I’ve oddly been enjoying walking in the dead heat of the day. When I need a break from my computer, I will put in my airpods and take a 3-4 mile walk, and it’s been very theraputic. I downloaded the book, A Year at the French Farmouse, and have been listening to that while walking.

I am trying to get my fall content out/done quickly but I seem to be moving very slowly. This happens to me every year when I think it’s months away, and boom it’s the first of September and I have so much to do.

We are going to the Jack Johnson concert tonight with friends and I am excited to hear him in person and enjoy some live music outside.

1. Discovered a new favorite t-shirt; it’s super soft, and I love the sleeve length. I’ve tried a lot of tees over the years, and this one is worth it.

And there is a moment every September when you can feel it in Paris. The August shutters roll up, the cafés fill again, and Parisians come back into the city tanned, unhurried, and somehow already dressed for the season.

What strikes me every time is what they are wearing. It is not new. It is not trend-driven. It is the same small set of pieces they reach for every fall because they work and they wear them with intention.

1. The trench

The rituals that make it a reset

Here is what I have learned watching how the French move through September. The wardrobe is only half of it. La rentrée is a whole return to rhythm, and the clothes land differently when the days around them feel considered too.

A few small rituals I am bringing into my own September, alongside the wardrobe:

• A fresh notebook and a good pen. The French begin la rentrée on paper. New planner, new intentions, written by hand.

• The unhurried morning coffee. Not to go. Sitting down, ten minutes, no phone. This is the ritual that changes everything and costs nothing.

• One cultural outing on the calendar. An exhibit, a concert, a film. September is the return to a cultural life, not just a working one. Book one thing now, for you.

None of this requires a plane ticket. It is the same principle as the wardrobe. You are not overhauling your life. You are returning to what matters, on purpose.

It was back-to-school week around here, and Sézane dropped a new and very controversial fall launch. So many comments online, including in my DMs, about the launch. Regardless, if you love it or don’t, I shared my 12 favorite pieces from the collection last week if you want to catch up.

Here is the short version of why it happened. Founder Morgane Sézalory has decided to deliberately slow the brand down. She wants to launch fewer new products, spend more time on design and materials, and position the label further upmarket, offering smaller, more carefully curated selections rather than changing everything each season. In her words, the goal is simply to choose better and create better. And the part I find most touching: the idea came to her around the time she turned 40, as a reflection of how her own life and taste had evolved.

Honestly, I want to see how this plays out. When a brand changes its identity, some people love it, and others don’t. I think it was time for a change at Sézane, and while not every piece speaks to me, there are a handful of styles I am absolutely loving for fall and excited to wear.

FYI, I tend to gravitate more toward coats, shoes, and tops from the brand. I don’t do a lot of the bottoms for some reason.

If you see something you love but it’s already out of stock, don’t worry. Check back, as items will come back in stock.

Here are the 12 pieces that caught my attention most for the new season ahead.

Fernand Coat: The color of this coat is absolutely beautiful; it’s neither too red nor too orange. Plus, the high neck gives it an elevated and dramatic look. This coat is going to be the outfit maker. Check the sizing on this coat as it’s a bit different.

Pio Clutch: Probably my favorite handbag from the new collection in any of the colors.

Fletcher Coat: An elevated take on a bomber jacket in my opinion.

Basile Bag: Comes in dark suede, brown, or navy, but I am drawn to the navy, which is rich and elegant-looking.

Suzanne Tote: Such a cute shape for a bag; it’s described as a baguette bag, and I am here for that. I love the white-and-black combination and picked it up last week. I’ll make sure to spray it to help keep it clean. Tie a scarf at the handle or wear it without.

Low Rosalie Ballet Flat: I purchased the vintage red in these, but I honestly love all the colors. The flat is sleek, with a slightly pointed look and not so round.

Mathis Cardigan: Usually not a color I would gravitate toward, but I love the short sleeve on this cardigan. It’s delicate enough to wear with denim but also could be worn with trousers and loafers. I envision keeping a few buttons open with layered necklaces and dark denim.

Robb Jacket: A Short suede jacket available in 4 colors; I prefer the taupe and the chestnut.

Jule Jacket: I am a sucker for anything navy, especially with a chic-looking high collar.

Marjorie Mules: A gorgeous and feminine-looking mule that will look elevated with denim and a sweater for fall.

Auriola Shirt: I bought a top like this last December and wore it so many times. The gold button detail adds something fun to the blouse.

Théo Jumper: Oversized wool sweater that would look beautiful with straight-leg denim and flats or loafers.

Over the last week, I have been going back through my closet and doing some cleaning out. I’ve also been taking the pieces I know I will rewear this season and moving them to the front. Each season, I like to take stock of what I want to keep and what I think should go.

I’ve already purchased a few new pieces for fall, like these ballet flats (I took my normal size of 6.5). I’ve also purchased these pants and this top. And a few Sézane pieces: these loafers and these flats, ahead of the new collection which arrives tomorrow.

As the season moves along, I’ll be sharing more fall pieces I am eyeing, outfit combinations, and your requests. Many have asked for: what to wear for fall when you live in a hot climate, everything I am buying for fall, and accessories and shoes to wear. All of this will be coming, but I wanted to share the pieces I’ll be rewearing with you first.

For sizing reference: I am 5ft. 5 1/2 inches tall and have a longer torso and more petite legs. I usually wear a size 6 in bottoms and size small or medium in tops.

Rag and Bone Mercer Blazer: I wore this blazer so many times after picking it up for Paris last Spring. It’s honestly the perfect travel blazer to dress up or down. I wore it with denim and with trousers. And it keeps you warm because it’s 100% wool, yet not scratchy at all. I am thinking of adding the army green color as well because I wore the black so much. The perfect blazer that’s classic yet a bit modernized and very elevated looking in my opinion.

Sizing: I am wearing my normal size of 6 in this blazer, and it fits perfectly.

Aritzia Short Trench: My trench is back in stock, but it will sell out again! I love a cropped or shorter trench for my body frame. Longer trench coats just swallow me up, so I am glad the short trench is still here for fall. And this one, while it has a more relaxed fit, has a belt that cinches it all together. This is the trench I was wearing when a French woman stopped me to ask where I had bought it. I ended up pulling up the Aritzia website for her right there on the street, and she bought it immediately.

The other short trench I will be wearing is the Bobby from Sézane; it will sell out, as it does every season. It’s also now in navy, which I just love.

Sizing: I have this jacket in size small, which is the appropriate fit for me. It runs rather large I found as it’s a bit oversized.

Mother Denim: Everyone has their favorite pair of jeans they come back to season after season. For me, it’s always Mother Denim in a wide leg. I have more petite legs, so I am always trying to wear something that helps to elongate them, and this denim works. I own it in multiple shades, and it’s the one I always reach for. Just because a denim style is on trend for the season doesn’t mean you have to wear it. Denim is hard, so wear the style that works for you. I’ll be sharing more denim favorites soon, but for now this is the one I’ll wear the most.

Sizing: I do buy the petite style in this one so I don’t have to get them hemmed, but they also come in a regular length.

Nomasei Loafer: Without a doubt, the most chic loafer I own and love. So much, I own it in two colors. They are very comfortable, enough to walk the streets of Paris, and the heel height is not too tall.

Sizing: Follow the brand's sizing guide on their website. I am usually a 6.5 but sized down half a size as they recommended, and they fit beautifully.

Alex Mill Crop Waxed Jacket: Such a great transition jacket for those days when it’s cool, but not cold enough for a full jacket. It’s water-resistant and has corduroy collar detailing. I have the navy version, but it also comes in several fun fall colors. This is also a great jacket if you live somewhere that’s warm most of the year but still need a little something for the days it’s cool. If you want a longer version, I love this color.

Sizing: Runs large, and I would size down unless you want it to fit more relaxed.

Quince Cashmere Tee: The under $50 cashmere tee, which is basically a no-brainer. Easy to layer or wear on its own. I own several of these tees, which hold up very nicely. My only complaint about these tees is that sometimes the coloring can be a bit off. For instance, I don’t love this brown color, but I do love this cacao nib color that Aritzia offers.

Sizing: I go all the way up to a large in this sweater because I want it to be a bit more relaxed-looking.

Margaux Phoebe Flat: One of my most-worn flats, incredibly soft and comfortable. Margaux is the brand I constantly reach for no matter the season. I wore several of the brand’s sandals in Paris this summer, and I’ll be wearing these flats again for fall. I am also thinking about adding this leopard suede pair or even this burgundy color for fall.

Sizing: I take my normal size of 6.5 in these ballet flats; no need to size up or down.

Sézane Wilfrield Jacket: I’ve owned this denim jacket for about 3 years now, and it’s still a fall favorite I will wear again and again. It just has that perfect lived-in, relaxed feeling. It’s not too tight, and it’s not too oversized. Also, a great option if you live in a warmer climate but still need a jacket.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly denim jacket, go with this one, which I also wear a medium in as well.

Sizing: I am wearing a size medium as I wanted to size up one for the perfect fit.

AYR Tate Button Down: Not all white button-downs are created equally. Some are made for layering, some to wear on their own, poplin ones, linen ones, and crop versions. This button-down is elegant on its own, with a standing collar and a longer length in the back. Here’s another option with a standing collar, but not as oversized.

Sizing: I am wearing an XS in this top as it’s very oversized. If you don’t like an oversized look, here are a few other options I own and love: the Eileen, the Carolina, and the Tomboy.

We’ve been home several weeks now after an incredible trip to Paris in July and early August. It’s taken me a minute to get back into my routine, but I wanted to finally sit down and send you a proper note about where we stayed, where we ate, and how we spent our days.

As many of you know, it was just Nathan and me this time. London went off to summer camp for the month, where she had the most wonderful time and made memories and friends she’s still talking about. We missed her, of course, but there was something really special about having this trip be just the two of us.

And I’ll be honest with you. Even without her, it turned out to be one of the most amazing Paris trips we’ve ever had. Maybe it was the late-night dinners, the early evening apéros, or our little escape down to the French Riviera. Whatever it was, it felt like magic from start to finish.

Where we stayed

We stayed on Île Saint-Louis again this year. We stayed here for the first time last summer and completely fell for the charm and the quiet, small-village feeling the island has right in the middle of the city. So this year, we knew we wanted to come back.

The apartment we rented is really only meant for two, which suited us perfectly, and it has the most gorgeous view of the Seine. I could have spent every morning just standing at that window with my coffee.

Now, a quick note on the weather, because I know so many of you are planning summer trips for next year. Paris was incredibly HOT this year. We got lucky and arrived just as a cold front came through, so we had beautiful weather for most of our stay, with only a handful of truly warm days. And I’ll be honest, Paris is not the most comfortable place to be when the heat settles in. We did rent a portable AC unit for the apartment, but if you’re used to American air conditioning, just know it’s never quite the same.

Our secret to staying cool? Plenty of cold rosé and champagne. I’m only half joking.

What we did

Our first week looked a little different than usual, because Nathan worked for most of it. We fell into a lovely rhythm of heading out together in the early morning and again in the mid-afternoon, before he had to sit back down at his laptop. Then I would set off on my own to explore, wander, and discover corners of the city I hadn’t seen before. There’s a particular kind of joy in walking Paris alone, at your own pace, with nowhere you have to be.

I also had a few business meetings with brands that week, and I was busy behind the scenes getting things ready for an upcoming ladies’ retreat.

By the second week, Nathan had much more free time, and we made the most of every minute. We spent lazy afternoons in the Jardin du Luxembourg, stayed out late enough to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle at midnight, and lost whole afternoons to slow walks, stopping wherever we pleased for a glass of wine. Those unhurried, unplanned days are always the ones I remember most.

Where we ate

Some of my favorite memories from any trip happen at the table, and this one was no exception. We leaned into long, late dinners and slow evening apéros, the kind that stretch on far longer than you ever planned.

Bonjour!

We are home from a quick trip to Texas this past weekend, where we visited my mom and did some back-to-school shopping for London. She still has another week before school starts, but I think we are all ready for a little routine. Although I am not ready for shorter days and less sun.

I feel like It’s been such a whirlwind these past few months, and honestly, I haven’t even settled yet since coming back home from Paris. I still have so much to share about the trip from Paris and the French Riviera. It’s all coming in the next few weeks, so thanks for being patient.

Favorites of the Week

1. New denim styles I am loving: this pair, this ANESSA style, this pair, and this dark pair. Also, there are still some sizes left in this pair that I own and love!

2. Went into J.Jill with my mom and immediately went toward this denim jacket, this suede jacket, my mom bought this top, and this denim jacket.

3. Also went into Ann Taylor and saw these new arrivals: Love these pants, and the matching top, so chic for an evening out. Always a sucker for pleated denim, this shirtdress, and this denim dress.

4. Aritzia new arrivals are here: I think Aritzia really shines in fall and winter. Added this jacket to cart, also a pretty satin pant without the tie at the waist, and my trench in black. Their trench coats always sell out quickly, so don’t wait if you want one (even though it’s 100 degrees still, I know).

5. I reordered a few beauty favorites: this lip gloss that I’ve gone through 2 of in the last several months, also this blush, and if you wear mascara, try this and let me know. I get my lashes done, but I’ve heard amazing reviews about this, specifically from my 13-year-old daughter.

Bonjour!

Everyone is finally back under one roof! London came home from camp the other day, and we were so happy to see her. She stayed with us for all of 24 hours and then left again for a sleepover with friends, lol. I guess we’ve entered the era of being an independent teenager.

It’s nice being home, but we are off again this weekend; she and I are making a quick trip to Texas to see my mom and do some back-to-school shopping before school starts next week.

We’ve also started to work on some house projects and decor that I’ve been putting off for months. I ordered a new faucet and pot filler for the kitchen, new couches for the living room (won’t be here for 6 months though), and a new cabinet for the dining room (won’t be here for 7 months). Why are things taking so long? lol. I am not a patient person when it comes to home decoration, so these things are testing me. We are also finishing up some painting that needed to be done. I had a huge list going into spring of “home projects”, and I'm finally getting around to finishing things.

I am also going to start The Five Star Weekend and am loving it so far. Has anyone else watched this yet?

1. I have been craving new jewelry for fall. I saw so many layered looks in Paris and really love the combination of multiple items together. Here are some pieces I am loving: this snake chain with this cord necklace or with this one. Also, a great multi necklace set.

2. Margaux is starting to drop new fall styles: LOVE this color, these leopard ones, the texture of these, and this gorgeous color and style.

3. Here’s what I’ve ordered for fall so far: these pants and this top, these ballet flats (similar to the Chanel ones but a fraction of the price), these loafers, and this is in my cart.

4. Under $200 favorites: this tee in deep indigo, this poplin top, this big bandana, this lip gloss (I like this color for the end of summer), and this top (which is a style all over for fall), also in chocolate.

I was actually very happy with my packing list because most pieces were worn multiple times throughout the trip.

A brief word on sizing before we begin. For reference, I am 5’5½” with a longer torso and more petite legs. I usually wear a size 4 or 6 in bottoms and small or medium in tops.

I love this dress so much in the white that I also bought it in this blue color this past Spring. I’ve already worn it so much this summer that it was the obvious perfect piece to pack for Paris.

This dress has been one of the hero pieces of the trip. It’s incredibly comfortable, looks chic, and is one of those pieces you can wear year after year. I received several compliments each day I wore this outfit when we were out and about. It’s breezy, lightweight, and wears well.

Sizing: wearing a 6 in the dress, I also tried on size 4, but it was too short for me.

This Sézane vest and shorts were the perfect match for the colors of the Riviera. I know I look like a Sézane ad here, but it just happened that I ended up wearing Sézane espadrilles and carrying my basket bag that day as well.

I saw this dress in a store window before we left and immediately loved it. It’s so different than anything I own, and the colors are so pretty. Someone messaged me after I posted this and told me they also wear this dress with leggings underneath- great idea!

I packed two Dôen pieces for this trip because they are so great to wear in the summer. They are a bit more bohemian but very easy, lightweight, and perfect for HOT weather. Plus, I love the lace detailing, as it just adds a bit of interest to the blouse.

This day was all about ease with a simple striped dress from Tuckernuck, sandals, and a jacket for the early morning.

A favorite dress of mine I first wore in Paris last summer, but it’s so iconic and classic that it had to come on this trip as well. It’s easy to wear with any color of accessories. One day I wore it with the espresso Margaux sandals and on the French Riviera with these Margaux sandals plus this cute colorful raffia bag.

I wore this for a day walking around, meeting with friends, and having a picnic. The weather was warm this day in the high 80s. When the sun is out in Paris and there’s no breeze, it can be pretty hot, so everyone was practically in shorts this day. Also, I have seen so many French women wearing this Isabel Marant bag; It’s such an easy piece to throw on, and the leather and color are gorgeous.

Sizing: Wearing a medium in the top, small in the shorts, and normal size in shoes.

Dôen Blouse | Effortless Shorts | Loewe Bag | Sandals

The weather was still quite warm on this day, so I opted for a breezy blouse, tailored shorts, and comfortable walking sandals. I also brought out my new Loewe bag that day.

Sizing: Blouse: wear a small; shorts: size 6; if between sizes in sandals, size up to the nearest whole size. My color is currently sold out, but it comes in multiple options.

I am a huge fan of TWP blouses, and they are investment blouses. I own two now, and they are among my favorites. They wear exceptionally well, look incredibly chic, and have that perfect fit. This one is cropped and sits right at the hip, making it the perfect choice with shorts and even denim.

Sizing: Blouses run large, so I wear a xs/s; shorts are a size 6.

J.Crew Tank Top | J.Crew Skirt | Tuckernuck Bag | Sandals | Bracelets | Sunglasses

I picked up this skirt right before we left, and I am so glad I did. I love the way it fits, and it’s so much better in person than what’s pictured on the website. It’s lightweight and a gorgeous shade of chocolate. It runs large, so I sized down one for a better fit, and it pairs perfectly with these Margaux sandals, also in the same shade.

I wore this J.Crew skirt again but this time with a basic white tee, necklace, and my favorite gold sandals. This skirt has definitely become a surprise of the trip, but it’s honestly so easy to wear. And the color basically goes with anything.

Sizing: Skirt runs large, so I sized down, wearing a medium in the tee and jacket; sandals run true to size.

This day was much cooler, so I decided to go with pants. I brought these pants from La Ligne, which are basically the same as the Aritzia Lodge pants I also wear. I wanted to try these pants to see how they compare to the Lodge pants.

They seem to drape a bit nicer, feel a bit lighter, and overall feel a bit more elevated. These also don’t have a drawstring, which I know some people prefer. However, for half the price, I think the Aritzia ones are just as great. Although the La Ligne pants come in many more colors and fabric options than the lodge pants.

Always an easy skirt to pack and wear during the day and into night. I am wearing it with a crop tank and denim jacket.

Another easy Quince slip skirt in polka dot this time. Polka dots are always a good idea in Paris. I wore this one day with a tee and a denim jacket in the morning when it was cool, and sandals.

Alex Mill Tote | Quince Linen Top | Aritzia Shorts | Beek Sandals

This was a day when it reached almost 100 degrees in the city, and it was hot. I pulled out this easy Quince linen top and made a basic outfit with shorts and sandals. I also used this Alex Mill tote that day because I was shooting it around the city. Truly a great tote for everyday errands, taking to the sports field, taking on trips, you name it.

The four pairs of shoes I wore most on the trip, and you will be surprised to know I wore sandals most days. I had so many people ask me how I could walk around in Paris all day wearing sandals. It’s all about having the right kind of sandals.

I am someone who needs support in my shoes, and all of these provided the right kind of support for walking all day. Everyone is different, and you have to do what works for you, but these were the real winners on the trip.

Ruti Pants | Dolce Vita Sneakers | Madewell Denim Shirt | Leset Tee

Here’s what I wore on the plane. I decided to finally try out the Ruti pants everyone talks about, and they are just as comfortable for a plane as the reviews say.

Sizing: Wearing a size 4 in the pants, medium in the tee, and small in the denim shirt. Sneakers also fit true to size.

AWAY Trunk Suitcases | Alex Mill Weekender Tote

We both packed these AWAY trunks for the trip and will be using them from now on. They aren’t necessarily larger than a suitcase, but the shape is different, allowing more bulky items to be packed. I also used a carry-on for my shoes and bags and packed this Alex Mill weekender tote for the plane. It holds so much and is pretty lightweight considering all the stuff I packed in there for the plane.

FYI, I never pack my handbags in my checked luggage. I always take them in a carry-on suitcase on the plane. I’ve heard too many stories of people losing their luggage.

Here are the beauty products I used and received the most questions about on our trip.

Olaplex Set:
My hair has a mind of its own in Paris, but I am a loyal fan of Olaplex products. I always pack the shampoo, conditioner, and the hair oil. The hair oil actually helps to keep my frizzies in place, and I like it because it’s lightweight and not greasy.

Therabody Depuffer:
Yes, this does really work, but just like my NuFACE you need to be consistent. However, it’s so portable that I just pack in my carryon. Even Nathan used it several times.

UBeauty Lip Compound:
My lips get very dry in Paris and I have found this lip compound really helps to keep them hydrated. I have been using the sunset color but I also have the universal as well.

GHD Straightener:
The best straightener because it’s dual voltage, so it's easy to pack for Paris without worrying if it’s going to burn up! All you have to do is plug it into your adapter.

La Bonne Brosse Brushes:
You guys know how much I love this brand, and of course I packed my regular daily brush, comb, and travel brush as well (in my carry-on).

WOW Root Coverup:
Magical root coverup that truly works. I just use it in between colors to cover up when my grays start coming out. It’s like an eyeshadow and you just brush it on, it’s truly a miracle worker!

We’ve been having an amazing time in Villefranche-sur-mer, it’s so incredibly gorgeous here. It’s been on my bucket list for years now and I am so glad we finally made it here. The village is so pretty and everyone is so incredibly nice. We haven’t had much of an agenda except to relax on the beach, enjoy the sun, and eat good food.

One more day here and then we head back to Paris for a few days and then back home. I can’t believe we’ve been here almost a month now and as always, I am sad to be leaving but so ready to see London. Although, we still have another week before she returns from camp. Until then, we will enjoy a few more days in France.

1. Alex Mill Tote Bag: Such an easy tote to “tote” around for everyday errands. I own two sizes: the weekend tote that I use on the plane, and it’s perfect for longer trips. And the smaller weekday tote that’s great for everyday use, such as running to the store, hauling kids' stuff, carrying baguettes ;), and so on. I am a huge tote person and always have a different one with me at all times. Add this one to your list if you’re looking; they come in multiple sizes and colors, and you can even personalize them.
   

2. Quince Silk Skirt: I packed this skirt in black and the polka dot style. They are so easy to wear and even in summer with sandals, a top, and a denim jacket on cool mornings. Plus, you can easily transition from day to night.
   

3. Electric Picks Bracelet Set: Looking for that designer bracelet look for less? Here’s an option for you. I’ve worn these the entire trip and so many of you have asked about them. They are simple yet elegant and add a nice touch to an everyday look.
   

4. Apiece Apart Wrap Dress: This linen wrap dress has definitely become the hero dress of the Paris trip. I’ve worn it so many times with sandals and sneakers. It’s been a great piece to wear even for nice dinners as it looks elevated even though it’s casual. I took a medium in this dress because the small was a bit too short for me.
   

5. Beek Leather Sandals: These sandals have been worn so much on this trip. Several people have asked how I can walk around Paris in sandals. For me, it’s making sure I have the right sandals, and these have been wonderful. Even though they seem thin, they have the right amount of support for me. The other two sandals I’ve been wearing nonstop are these brown ones and these espresso ones. I always pack Margaux shoes for Paris, and now Beek is on my list as well.
   

6. Aritzia The Effortless Short: One of my most worn shorts that I own in black, navy, and white. I prefer a short that’s tailored and a bit longer, and these fit both of those categories. Plus, they are easy to dress up or dress down.
   

7. La Bonne Brosse Brush: This brush will always be on my list for things I am loving. And, after visiting the store in Paris and learning more about the brand from the PR team, I love it even more. So much that I have two, my mom has one, and of course London has one as well. You can take the quiz online to see what hair type you have and what brush would be best for you. I also picked up some of the hair products and can’t wait to try those as well.
   

8. Away “The Trunk”: Nathan and I both ordered one of these before the trip. Nathan has been considering the Rimowa suitcase, and I said let’s try out this one first before spending $$$ on a suitcase. These are amazing, and I am never going back to a normal suitcase. It’s easier to pack in my opinion, holds bulkier items more easily, and takes up less floor space. A great investment for sure if you’re looking for a new suitcase.
   

9. Color Wow Root Coverup: Magical coverup that my stylist told me about. I use it between color appointments on my roots or places where my grays are coming in. It’s so easy to apply just like an eyeshadow, and it lasts all day. It will come out when you wash, so you do have to reapply, but it works wonders!
   

10. Sézane Helly Dress: I love this dress so much that I own it in two colors. There are some pieces you love so much that you buy twice. Last summer I purchased the dress in ecru and this spring I bought it in this gorgeous vintage blue. I packed both for Paris and have worn both already several times. Plus, I always receive compliments anytime I wear one of them.
    

11. Quince Denim Jacket: This jacket has been perfect for those cooler mornings in Paris, and it’s $50. I am wearing a size medium, and it fits perfectly. Wear it with tanks, tees, and even over dresses.

A few fun things this week in Paris: we saw them filming Emily in Paris on Île Saint-Louis as we were sitting drinking coffee one morning. Emily, Julian, and Luc were all right in front of us. Then, I walked past Natalie Portman in Le Bon Marché the other day (she lives here in Paris).

Well, we’ve made it to the French Riviera and will be spending several days here before we head back to Paris for a few days and then head home.

Several of you have messaged and asked if we are anywhere near the fires currently happening in France. Thankfully, we are not, but my heart goes out to everyone affected by these terrible fires. I can’t imagine what they must be going through.

The weather down here is sunny and beautiful, and it’s hard to think about having a wonderful time when you know others just a few hours away are living in devastation. Thinking of everyone impacted.

We don’t have any plans for the week but to relax and enjoy parts of France we’ve never been to.

2. Sézane launched a prefall collection. I know we are already thinking about fall, and yes, we are. I have shoes on my radar for the season: love this pair these loafers, and these loafers. Also love this blouse you can easily wear year-round. And, of course, this crop trench, which sells out every season.

3. I picked up this new perfume this last week. Every time I come to Paris, I always go to Le Labo thinking I am going to buy a new scent. I love the Santal, of course, but this Thé Noir spoke to me this time. You can also find it in this great travel set.

4. These 3 pieces from Quince have come in handy this week: this denim jacket, this silk skirt, and also this polka dot one.

5. J.Crew has some new pieces: love these trousers, this skirt, this barn jacket, this green poplin, and these ballet flats.

Sézane Dress | Margaux Sandals | Sézane Basket Bag | Gold Bracelets

A favorite dress of mine I first wore in Paris last summer, but it’s so iconic and classic that it had to come on this trip as well. It’s easy to wear with any color accessories, but this day I chose the dark basket bag and espresso-colored sandals.

Sizing: Wearing a size 6 in the dress and sandals are true to size.

Quince Jacket | J.Crew Top | La Ligne Pants | Isabel Marant Bag |Margaux Sandals

This day was much cooler, so I decided to go with pants. I brought these pants from La Ligne, which are basically the same as the Aritzia Lodge pants I also wear. I wanted to try these pants to see how they compare to the Lodge pants. They seem to drape a bit nicer, feel a bit lighter, and overall feel a bit more elevated. These also don’t have a drawstring, which I know some people prefer. However, for half the price, I think the Aritzia ones are just as great. Although the La Ligne pants come in many more color and fabric options than the lodge pants.

Sizing: Wearing a medium in the denim jacket, a small in the top, a small in the bottoms, and sandals run true to size.

This day was all about ease with a simple striped dress from Tuckernuck, sandals, and a jacket for the early morning.

Another gorgeous eyelet dress from Sézane but in a longer length. It’s classic, polished, and was the perfect piece for the day.

I love this dress so much in the white that I also bought it in this blue color this past Spring. I’ve already worn it so much this summer that it was the obvious perfect piece to pack for Paris.

I wore this J.Crew skirt again but this time with a basic white tee, necklace, and my favorite gold sandals. This skirt has definitely become a surprise of the trip, but it’s honestly so easy to wear. And the color basically goes with anything.

Sizing: Skirt runs large, so I sized down, wearing a medium in the tee and jacket; sandals run true to size.

Bonjour!

We’ve had the most amazing weather in Paris this week and are enjoying every minute. Each morning, we make our coffee, open the windows while we are working, and just watch everyone go by. It’s been one of my favorite parts of the day.

The city is starting to empty out more and more as the days go on, and it’s getting quieter. It seems pretty much only tourists are left at this point. I always say Paris without Parisians is the oddest thing ever and not something I really like, lol.

We have a few days left before we take the train down to the French Riviera with zero agenda. I am either going to regret not planning things, or it will be the best thing ever.

Going to keep this short as we are getting ready to head out this morning for a little day trip.

4. The other day I went to Le Bon Marché to see the new Fall fashion starting to come in, and here’s what I saw and what’s going to be big for fall. Suede, as always, is the number one: bags in colors like this, and this one, flats like this, of course loafers, and also these.

5. Here’s the uniform I’ve seen on the French women who are left in the city, it’s been cool this week so there’s been a lot of crop denim, straight-leg ankle, eyelet blouses, and this one. And lots and lots of Birkenstocks, plus they are always in some gold or metallic sandal.

I wore this for a day walking around, meeting with friends, and having a picnic. The weather was warm this day in the high 80s. When the sun is out in Paris and there’s no breeze, it can be pretty hot, so everyone was practically in shorts this day. Also, I have seen so many French women wearing this Isabel Marant bag; it seems more than ever. It’s such an easy piece to throw on, and the leather and color are gorgeous.

Sizing: Wearing a medium in the top, small in the shorts, and normal size in shoes

Doen Blouse | Effortless Shorts | Loewe Bag | Sandals

The weather was still quite warm on this day, so I opted for a breezy blouse, tailored shorts, and comfortable walking sandals. I also brought out my new Loewe bag that day.

Sizing: Blouse: wear a small; shorts: size 6; if between sizes in sandals, size up to the nearest whole size.

J.Crew Tank Top | J.Crew Skirt | Tuckernuck Bag | Sandals | Bracelets | Sunglasses

I picked up this skirt in-store at the last minute before we left, and I am so glad I did. I love the way it fits, much better than what’s pictured on the website. It’s lightweight and a gorgeous shade of chocolate. It runs large, so I sized down one for a better fit, and it pairs perfectly with these Margaux sandals, also in the same shade.

Sizing: Top and skirt run large, so I sized down; sandals are true to size.

Outfit #4

Apiece Apart Dress | Beek Sandals | Loewe Bag | Sunglasses | Bracelets

This dress has been one of the surprises of the trip. It’s incredibly comfortable, looks chic, and is one of those pieces you can wear year after year. I received several compliments this day on this outfit when we were out and about. It’s breezy, lightweight, and wears well.

Sizing: wearing a medium in the dress, as the small was a bit too short for me.

TWP Blouse | Aritzia Shorts | Beek Sandals | Goyard Bag | Jane Win Necklace

I am a huge fan of TWP blouses, and they are expensive. I own two now, and they are among my favorites. They wear exceptionally well, look incredibly chic, and have that perfect fit. This one is cropped and sits right at the hip, making it the perfect choice with shorts and even denim.

Sizing: Blouses run large, so I wear a xs/s; shorts are a size 6.

Bonjour from Paris!

By the time you read this, I will be somewhere between a café terrace and my 20,000th step of the day. As you know, Nathan and I are here for two weeks, our first trip to Paris as a couple without family in over a decade, before we head south to the Riviera. And of course, before a single bag was zipped, there was the question every one of you has been asking me for weeks: what do you pack for Paris in a heat wave?

Because that is exactly what we walked into. Paris is hovering around 90 degrees this first week, the kind of heat that makes you rethink every “chic travel outfit” you have ever pinned. The good news is that it is cooling down into the 70s by the weekend, so my suitcase had to work in two acts: light and breezy for the heat, with a few pieces that layer once the air softens. I also packed for several days in the French Riviera.

My rule for this trip was simple. Everything had to be something I could walk in all day, sit down to dinner in that night, and still feel like myself. Chic and classic does not have to mean suffering in the heat. It means choosing the right fabrics.

So I packed a mixture of shorts, dresses, tanks, and a few pairs of pants, almost all of it in linen, cotton poplin, and light, breezy weaves that move with you and breathe in the sun. Neutral, timeless, and easy to mix, so a tank that walked the Marais at noon can slip under a light layer for dinner in Saint-Germain.

And because Paris is a walking city above all else, shoes were non-negotiable. I packed a mixture of sandals I have already broken in and one sneaker, all tested at home first. Nothing ruins the Tuileries faster than a blister.

Here is everything that made the cut.

Tops

Light, breathable, and easy to tuck or knot. I leaned into tanks and airy blouses that feel polished on their own in the heat but layer easily once the temperature drops.

Dresses

The hardest working pieces in the suitcase. One dress is a full outfit, which matters when it is 90 degrees and you refuse to give up on looking put together. Each of these goes from museum morning to a dinner reservation with a simple swap of a bag and a sandal.

Twenty thousand steps a day is not an exaggeration here. Every pair was broken in before it went into the suitcase.

• Another classic pair from Margaux.

• My go-to sandal every year from Sézane.

• These incredibly comfortable sandals I walked 20,000 steps in yesterday. They are much more comfortable than they originally look.

• Another favorite kitten heel for a few dinners.

• Sneakers for the plane and days when my feet need a break.

Bags

Most of the bags I packed are raffia, which I love to use in the summer. They match the season and are so perfectly Parisian.

• This Isabel Marant crossbody that’s a favorite amongst Parisian women.

• My basket bag I’ve been using all summer.

• Another French basket bag from Le Tanneur I picked up here in April.

• Navy Goyard mini that I love to use in Summer because it’s lightweight and simple.

• Colorful and darling mini raffia bag. It’s tiny but holds the essentials for the day.

And this gorgeous Loewe bag that I didn’t pack but bought the first day here. It was on my summer wish list, and when I saw it in person, I immediately had to have it.

Makeup and beauty

Ninety degrees changes everything about a makeup bag. I packed light, skipped anything heavy, and leaned into skincare first with a few sweat-proof essentials layered on top. The French girl approach, skin that looks like skin, has never made more sense than it does in a heat wave.

• This Therabody depuffing wand does work! It has two functions; one setting is cold, which helps to depuff. I use it every morning, since we’ve already been indulging in wine. And, the heat function helps to boost skincare absorption. Yes, this is like an ice roller except it doesn’t lose its cool.

• And, I always pack my travel size NuFace with me to help tighten and lift. These are the two face tools that I love and use.

• UBeauty eye cream to brighten and firm, giving this one a try, I’ve only ever used a sample and really liked it so I bought a larger bottle.

• The lip gloss I’ve been using all summer (color is REMIX), and Chanel lipstick #71.

• My favorite hairbrush and travel size.

• And of course sunscreen is the most important product on my face.

We touched down in Paris on Monday morning to some gorgeous weather. Don’t get me wrong, it was hot, but definitely bearable. Nothing like the massive heat in Paris several weeks ago, thankfully. In fact, the weather looks like it’s cooling down starting today!

Our first few days have been filled with an amazing picnic along the Seine, meeting with friends to watch the France game- not the ending anyone wanted, but still so fun to watch in Paris. And, yesterday was Bastille Day, which is always a great time. This was our 4th year in a row in Paris for Bastille Day, and I love how this has become a tradition.

This morning, we are headed to the market for fresh fruit and flowers, and just to enjoy being back in this gorgeous city.
