Jimmy Page relaunched his website after 2 years without one

In a surprise move, Jimmy Page launched a new official website on August 28 after he went more than two years without a site at all.

“It’s been a long time,” the homepage of Page’s relaunched website now reads in front of a video of a Blood Moon lunar eclipse.

“On this day, the new JimmyPage.com launches. The On This Day series returns daily, alongside my full discography and live date history, with more exciting features coming soon,” Page wrote in an announcement on social media.

Page’s new site doesn’t yet have an online store but buried in the website code are clues that suggest he may launch a paywalled membership scheme in the future. Posts on the site have the option of being marked as only available for paying members.

Custom post types titled “jp_pay_order” and “jp_pay_product” can also be found in the website’s publicly available code. Furthermore, the Jetpack field for paywalled content has been installed but isn’t yet turned on.

The discography section of the site is also interesting for what it includes and what it skips. The 2007 Mothership compilation is present but not the 1990 Remasters or the 1993 Complete Studio Recordings box set.

It’s already been spotted that the release dates for Led Zeppelin’s debut album on the site seem to be wrong.

Jimmy Page’s longterm friend Paul Reeves published a recent photograph of them together to mark 60 years of their friendship. The photo appears to have been taken at The Witchery, a luxury hotel and restaurant in Edinburgh.

The Jenning Farm motorbike went up for auction

The 1917 Phelon and Moore 500cc motorbike which Robert Plant was photographed on at his Jennings Farm property in Worcestershire went up for auction yesterday.

Bidding on the motorbike reached £21,000, according to The Saleroom. The listing on the auction firm’s website says it was “unsold” but we’re assuming that’s incorrect given all of the auction items say that.

Robert Plant paid tribute to Dolly Parton

Robert Plant paid tribute to Dolly Parton after she died aged 80 on August 25.

“Mighty joy bringer to so many of us ... always in the heart of such beautiful songs ... adopted by every household here across the water … very sad,” he wrote.

John Bonham’s friend and tailor Peter Robinson died

Peter Robinson, a schoolfriend of John Bonham who became his tailor, has died.

The Redditch Advertiser reports that Robinson’s funeral took place earlier this month.

Robert Plant made a surprise appearance with Mike Sanchez

Robert Plant joined Mike Sanchez on stage in Kidderminster on August 21.

Plant made an unannounced surprise appearance at Sanchez’s show at Kidderminster Town Hall, where he joined the band for eight songs lasting more than 20 minutes.

Plant performed songs including Led Zeppelin’s “Rock And Roll” along with Howlin’ Wolf’s “How Many More Years”, Elvis Presley’s “A Big Hunk o’ Love”, “A Mess of Blues”, “Little Sister” and “One Night” along with Lowell Fulson’s “Reconsider Baby”.

Soundgas has kicked off the third part of its auction of items from John Paul Jones’ recording studio. This time, the auction is for a series of effects pedals used by Jones.

The auction will run until September 9.
