The vastness of the horizon. The feeling of sand beneath your feet. Whether you are walking along the shoreline, sitting quietly watching the sea or laughing with people you love, beaches have a wonderful way of reminding us that there is a much bigger world beyond whatever happens to be occupying our minds.

Today is National Beach Day, a day for appreciating these beautiful places but also remembering that enjoying something comes with a responsibility to look after it.

And I think there is a useful lesson in that.

We are often very good at appreciating something when it feels good, but not always quite as good at doing the small things required to protect it.

Relationships can be like that.

At the beginning of a relationship, people naturally put effort into one another. They listen. They ask questions. They make plans. They show affection. They notice the little things.

Then life becomes familiar.

The relationship is still there, rather like a beach we assume will always be waiting for us, and gradually the effort that once seemed effortless can begin to disappear.

Small problems are left behind.

Conversations are avoided.

Resentments accumulate.

Affection becomes less frequent.

And eventually two people can look at their relationship and wonder how something that once felt so beautiful became so difficult.

Very few relationships deteriorate because of one enormous moment.

More often, it is the accumulation of lots of smaller moments that were never properly dealt with.

The same can be true of our own lives.

We tolerate situations that drain us. We keep saying yes when we want to say no. We ignore conversations we know we need to have. We neglect friendships that matter. We postpone changes because dealing with them feels uncomfortable today.

But neglect has a habit of becoming visible eventually.

National Beach Day is partly about enjoying the beach, but it is also about leaving it better than we found it.

Perhaps we could borrow that philosophy for our relationships too.

After spending time with someone you love, do they generally feel better for having been around you?

Do they feel heard?

Do they feel respected?

Do they feel appreciated?

And perhaps an equally important question is whether you feel those things when you are around them.

Healthy relationships are not created through enormous romantic gestures every few months. They are created through hundreds of ordinary moments of care.

A kind word.

An apology when one is needed.

A conversation instead of silence.

A boundary instead of resentment.

A thank you instead of taking something for granted.

Those things might appear insignificant individually, but together they create the emotional environment of a relationship.

And if you are going through a breakup at the moment, there is another lesson the beach can offer.

Waves come and go.

Some arrive gently. Others feel powerful enough to knock you over.

Emotions after a breakup can behave in much the same way.

You might have a morning where you feel surprisingly strong and then, without warning, a memory arrives and suddenly you feel as though you are back at the beginning.

You are not.

Healing is rarely a straight line.

Subscribe now

Sometimes you simply have to allow the wave to arrive, experience it and then let it pass without convincing yourself that you need to act on everything you feel.

Not every feeling requires a message to your ex.

Not every moment of loneliness means the relationship should have continued.

And not every difficult day means you are failing to move forward.

Sometimes it is simply another wave.

So wherever you happen to be today, whether you are spending Sunday beside the sea or nowhere near it, take a moment to think about the things in your life that are beautiful enough to deserve looking after.

Your relationships.

Your friendships.

Your boundaries.

Your peace of mind.

Your future.

Beautiful things rarely stay beautiful entirely by accident.

They survive because somebody cares enough to protect them.

If you feel you could benefit from life coaching, relationship coaching or breakup coaching, check out my website for details on my audio coaching service 📞

Stay positive,

Your life coach,

Vincent

If You Feel My Content Has Helped You, Please Consider Buying Me A Coffee ☕️

The Cheapest Way to Escape Your Life (And Why You Shouldn’t Take It)

Sunday 23rd August 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today, 23rd August, is often referred to as ‘Cheap Flight Day’ the point in the summer when travel demand traditionally begins to ease and airlines may start reducing fares for the weeks and months ahead.

And although I could give you a newsletter about finding cheaper flights, comparing prices and finally booking that trip you’ve been talking about, there’s something about the name Cheap Flight Day that makes me think about a very different kind of escape.

Because sometimes, when life becomes uncomfortable, we look for the cheapest flight out.

Not literally.

We look for the quickest way to escape a difficult feeling, an awkward conversation, an uncertain relationship or a situation that requires something emotionally demanding from us.

As a life coach and relationship coach, I see how easily this can happen. Something feels uncomfortable and our instinct is to make the discomfort disappear. We distract ourselves. We become busy. We stop replying. We convince ourselves we don’t care. We end the relationship before somebody has the opportunity to reject us. We start looking for somebody new before we have properly understood what happened with the person we’ve just lost.

The destination doesn’t matter nearly as much as getting away.

After a breakup, this instinct can become particularly strong.

Heartbreak creates emotions most of us would happily avoid. Loneliness. Rejection. Anger. Regret. Uncertainty. The horrible temptation to wonder what your ex is doing, who they’re with and whether they’re thinking about you.

So we search for a cheap flight.

Maybe it’s dating apps three days after the relationship ends. Maybe it’s checking their social media twenty times a day. Maybe it’s drinking, working constantly, going out every night or desperately trying to remain “friends” because accepting their absence feels too painful.

None of these things necessarily makes you a bad person or means you’re dealing with the breakup incorrectly. But they can become ways of avoiding the journey you actually need to take.

And unfortunately, emotional baggage has an irritating habit of travelling with us.

Subscribe now

You can change your relationship, your job, your city or the person sleeping beside you, but if you never examine the patterns underneath your choices, sooner or later you may find yourself standing in a different place experiencing remarkably familiar feelings.

That is why coaching often involves asking a question that initially feels much less appealing than escape:

What would happen if I stayed here for a while?

What if you stayed with the uncomfortable conversation instead of immediately becoming defensive?

What if you allowed yourself to miss your ex without interpreting that feeling as evidence that you should contact them?

What if loneliness could simply be loneliness for an evening rather than an emergency requiring somebody else to fix it?

What if uncertainty didn’t require an immediate answer?

There is an important distinction between leaving something because it is genuinely wrong for you and leaving because remaining present feels uncomfortable.

Sometimes leaving is absolutely the healthy decision. Relationships can become damaging. Jobs can become intolerable. Friendships can reach their natural conclusion. A breakup can be the beginning of a much better chapter.

Life coaching isn’t about teaching people to endure situations they should leave.

It’s about becoming sufficiently self-aware to understand why you are staying and why you are going.

Because the cheapest flight isn’t always the best journey.

The quick rebound might temporarily soften the loneliness, but it may prevent you from understanding what the previous relationship taught you.

Avoiding the difficult conversation might give you a peaceful evening, but it could cost you intimacy later.

Walking away whenever vulnerability appears might protect you from rejection, but it can also protect you from being truly known.

And pretending you’re completely over somebody might make you feel stronger today while quietly delaying the grief that eventually needs somewhere to go.

There are moments in life when you should absolutely pack your bags.

But there are others when growth means putting the suitcase down.

Staying in the conversation.

Sitting with the feeling.

Asking yourself the question you’ve been avoiding.

Giving yourself enough time after a breakup to discover who you are when you’re no longer organising your life around another person.

And perhaps recognising that the discomfort you desperately want to escape isn’t always a sign that something has gone wrong.

Sometimes it’s simply the departure lounge for the person you’re becoming.

So, on Cheap Flight Day, by all means look for a bargain and book yourself an adventure.

But when it comes to your emotional life, be careful about automatically choosing the quickest escape.

Some journeys are worth paying a little more for.

And some places are worth staying long enough to discover what they have to teach you.

Sometimes You Have to Laugh 😂

Sunday 16th August 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

A man goes to a life coach and says, “I feel like nobody listens to me.”

The life coach looks up and says, “Sorry, did you say something?”

It’s National Tell a Joke Day today, Sunday 16th August, and while that joke may have just cost me several clients (honestly, I’m an active listener really), there is something surprisingly relevant about it.

We all want to feel heard.

In life. In relationships. And particularly when things are going wrong.

As a life coach, relationship coach and breakup coach, I spend a great deal of time listening to people talk about situations that feel incredibly serious to them.

And they often are.

A relationship might be falling apart.

Someone you love might have left.

You might be questioning your career, your confidence or the direction your life is heading.

You might be lying awake at 2am wondering why somebody hasn’t replied to a message you sent six hours earlier.

And when you’re emotionally involved in something, your brain has a remarkable ability to remove absolutely all sense of perspective.

One unanswered WhatsApp message becomes a psychological thriller.

“They haven’t replied.”

Perhaps they’re busy.

“They’ve been online.”

Right.

“They’ve been online THREE TIMES.”

And suddenly we’ve got MI5 involved.

This is one of the strange things about being human.

We can know intellectually that something isn’t necessarily catastrophic while emotionally behaving as though somebody needs to alert the Prime Minister or President.

This isn’t about making light of such situations, it’s about trying to regain and maintain a stable mindset.

Humour can interrupt these moments.

Not by pretending everything is fine.

Not by laughing at genuine pain.

And certainly not by telling somebody who is heartbroken that they need to “cheer up”.

Humour does something much more useful.

It creates distance.

For a moment, you stop being completely inside the problem and you see yourself standing next to it.

That can be particularly powerful after a breakup.

Heartbreak makes perfectly normal people do wonderfully irrational things.

You analyse messages from six months ago.

You suddenly become extremely interested in who viewed your Instagram story.

You hear a song in a shop and somehow decide the universe is communicating with you.

Subscribe now

And then there’s the classic:

“I accidentally looked at their profile.”

Accidentally?

You typed their name into the search bar, selected their profile and scrolled back to a holiday they took in 2019.

That’s not an accident.

That’s research.

I’ve worked with enough people going through breakups to know there is a moment when being able to laugh at some of your own behaviour is actually a sign of progress.

Because you’re beginning to get some perspective back.

Relationships need humour too.

One of the saddest things that can happen between two people isn’t necessarily that they argue.

It’s that they stop having fun together.

Everything becomes serious.

Bills.

Children.

Work.

Housework.

Who is making dinner.

Who forgot to buy milk.

Why there is an empty toilet roll sitting approximately four inches away from the bin.

You can love somebody enormously and still occasionally wonder how they have survived this long without adult supervision.

That’s relationships.

Two imperfect people trying to build something together while privately believing there is only one correct way to stack a dishwasher.

There are obviously relationship problems that require serious conversations.

But not every irritation needs to become one.

Sometimes the healthiest response isn’t another three-hour discussion about communication styles.

Sometimes it’s looking at each other and saying, “We’re being ridiculous.”

And laughing.

I think the same applies to life more generally.

Personal development can become incredibly serious.

We’re constantly being encouraged to optimise ourselves.

Improve your morning routine.

Improve your mindset.

Improve your productivity.

Improve your relationship.

Improve your Whether your sister is your closest confidante, someone you speak to occasionally, or someone with whom your relationship has become strained over time, today offers an opportunity to reflect on the bond you share.

As a relationship coach, I’ve seen that sibling relationships often shape the way we connect with others far more than we realise. Our sisters are often our first friends, our first rivals, our first protectors and, sometimes, our first experience of forgiveness. They witness versions of us that no one else ever will. They remember who we were before the world told us who we should become.

Not every relationship between sisters is easy. Some carry years of misunderstanding, hurt or distance. Family dynamics can be incredibly complicated, and there is no prize for pretending everything is perfect when it isn’t. If your relationship with your sister has been painful, today doesn’t have to be about forcing reconciliation. It can simply be about acknowledging what you’ve learned, appreciating the good where it existed, and allowing yourself to let go of the expectation that every family story has a fairytale ending.

Subscribe now

For those fortunate enough to have a close relationship with a sister, don’t assume she already knows how much she means to you. We often wait for birthdays or Christmas to express our gratitude, yet the words that matter most are usually the ones spoken on an ordinary day. A simple message saying, “I’m grateful you’re my sister,” can mean more than an expensive gift.

The same principle applies to every meaningful relationship in our lives. Too often we believe people can read our hearts. They can’t. Love grows through expression, appreciation and presence. Whether it’s a sister, a partner or a close friend, healthy relationships thrive when we stop assuming and start communicating.

If you’re going through a breakup, your sister may also be one of the people who reminds you who you are when your confidence has taken a knock. The people who knew you before your heartbreak can help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that haven’t been lost. Sometimes healing doesn’t begin with finding someone new. It begins with remembering that you were already loved by people who have been walking beside you all along.

So today, if you have a sister, consider reaching out. Tell her something you’ve never quite found the words to say. Thank her for a memory, apologise if it’s needed, or simply let her know you’re thinking of her.

Relationships aren’t strengthened by grand gestures. They’re strengthened by small moments of genuine connection, repeated over time.

What Trees Know About Healing That Nobody Ever Tells You 🌳

Sunday 26th July 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Sunday, 26 July 2026, is National Tree Day, and perhaps it is an invitation to notice something we too easily forget: the strongest growth often happens quietly.

A tree does not announce that it is healing. It does not apologise for losing its leaves, compare its progress with the tree beside it or become ashamed because one of its branches has broken. It simply responds to the season it is in.

There is something deeply reassuring about that.

As a life coach, relationship coach and breakup coach, I often speak with people who believe they should be further along by now. They think they should have recovered from the relationship, found the answer, rebuilt their confidence or discovered a clear direction for their life.

But human growth rarely follows the timetable we create for it.

Sometimes, the most important work is taking place beneath the surface. A stronger boundary is forming. An old belief is loosening. Your nervous system is learning that it is safe to trust again. Your sense of identity is slowly becoming separate from the person you once loved.

None of this may be visible to the outside world. It may not even be visible to you yet. That does not mean nothing is happening.

Think of a tree in winter. To an impatient observer, it can look lifeless. Its branches are bare and there is no obvious evidence of progress. Yet beneath the soil, its roots remain active. It is conserving energy, responding to its environment and preparing for what comes next.

You may be in a similar season.

Perhaps a relationship has ended and you are trying to understand who you are without it. Perhaps you are still in a relationship, but you have realised that something needs to change. Perhaps life has asked you to release an old dream before a new one has appeared.

These in-between periods can feel uncomfortable because there is no immediate reward for the work you are doing. You are no longer where you were, but you cannot yet see where you are going.

This is where patience becomes an act of self-respect.

A tree does not force its branches to blossom before the conditions are right. In the same way, you do not have to rush into another relationship to prove that you are lovable. You do not have to forgive before you are ready. You do not have to turn your pain into a lesson while you are still learning how to carry it.

You are allowed to take root before you reach outward again.

Of course, trees also remind us that growth requires participation. A seed needs soil, water, light and care. Healing asks something of us too. It may ask us to tell the truth about what happened, to stop returning to someone who repeatedly hurts us or to recognise the role we have played in our own unhappiness.

It may ask us to become more discerning about who receives our time and emotional energy.

Healthy relationships are not built by two people abandoning themselves for each other. They are built by two people who have developed roots of their own. Love can offer companionship, encouragement and shelter, but it should not require you to cut yourself down so that another person can feel taller.

National Tree Day also reminds us that what we nurture today may benefit people we will never meet. The same is true of the emotional work we do.

When you heal an unhealthy pattern, communicate more honestly or refuse to pass your pain on to someone else, the effects reach beyond your own life. They shape your friendships, your family, your future relationships and the way other people learn to love themselves around you.

You may never see the full impact of the work you are doing.

That does not make it less meaningful.

Subscribe now

Today, consider spending a little time near a tree. Notice its shape. Notice where it has grown around damage rather than pretending the damage never happened. Notice how it reaches towards the light without rejecting the darkness that helped its roots grow deeper.

Then ask yourself a gentle question: what am I ready to nurture now?

Not what should already be finished. Not what would impress other people. Not what would make someone who left regret their decision.

What genuinely deserves your care?

Your answer may be small. It may be a new boundary, a difficult conversation, a morning walk, a period of no contact or the decision to begin treating yourself as someone whose life matters.

Small acts of care accumulate. Roots deepen. Seasons change. Bare branches become green again.

You do not need to have your entire future worked out today.

You only need to care for the part of your life that is ready to grow.

The Match Matters… But It Does Not Define You

Sunday 19th July 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today, Sunday 19 July 2026, billions of people will turn their attention towards New Jersey as Spain face Argentina in the World Cup final. The defending world champions meet the reigning European champions.

For the players, this is the match they have imagined since childhood.

Every early morning, every painful defeat, every missed celebration, every injury and every hour spent practising has led them towards this moment. By the end of the evening, one team will be holding the trophy while the other will be trying to understand how they came so close and still went home without it.

That is the uncomfortable reality of any final. Two teams can be courageous. Two teams can be prepared. Two teams can deserve admiration. Yet only one can win.

Life often feels unfair for precisely the same reason.

We are taught that effort guarantees reward. We are told that good people eventually get what they deserve. We quietly assume that if we love someone enough, work hard enough or remain patient enough, the outcome will eventually go our way.

And although positivity, effort and hard work can increase your chance of success, sometimes you give everything and the relationship still ends.

Sometimes you are loyal, honest and emotionally available, yet the person you love chooses a different future. Sometimes you prepare brilliantly for an opportunity and somebody else is selected. Sometimes you do all the work, make all the changes and still find yourself confronting an outcome you did not want.

Losing does not always mean you failed.

There is a difference between losing an outcome and losing yourself.

A footballer may lose a final without becoming a loser. In the same way, the end of a relationship does not make you unlovable. A rejection does not prove that you are inadequate. A painful chapter does not become a permanent description of your life.

The real danger arrives when disappointment becomes identity.

After a breakup, people often replay the emotional equivalent of the final minute. They analyse the conversation they should have handled differently, the warning sign they should have noticed or the message they wish they had never sent. They imagine that changing one moment might have changed the entire result.

Reflection can help us grow, but endless replaying becomes self-punishment.

There comes a point when you must stop trying to rewrite the match and begin deciding how you will live after the final whistle.

That does not mean pretending that you are not hurt. Healthy strength is not emotional numbness. The losing players tonight will not need somebody telling them that it was “only a game”. It was not only a game to them. It represented years of sacrifice, hope and meaning.

Your heartbreak was not “only a relationship” either.

It mattered because you cared. It hurts because you invested part of yourself in a shared future. You are allowed to grieve the plans, routines and version of life that disappeared when the relationship ended.

But grief and forward movement are not opposites. You can respect what something meant while accepting that it is over.

Winners also face a challenge that receives far less attention. After the celebration comes the question: what next?

We often imagine that reaching a particular goal will permanently settle us. We tell ourselves that we will finally feel secure when we find a partner, receive the promotion, buy the home or achieve the recognition.

Then the moment arrives, the excitement eventually settles, and we discover that no trophy can do the inner work for us.

A relationship cannot permanently rescue you from insecurity. Success cannot create self-worth on your behalf. Another person’s admiration cannot replace your own self-respect.

Subscribe now

The healthiest relationships are not built by two people desperately trying to complete one another. They are built by two people who continue to take responsibility for their own emotional lives while choosing to share the journey.

Perhaps that is one of the most useful lessons hidden inside today’s spectacle.

Give yourself fully to the moment, but do not make the outcome your entire identity.

Love deeply, but do not abandon yourself to keep somebody.

Pursue your goals passionately, but do not confuse achievement with worth.

Allow yourself to celebrate when life goes your way and to grieve when it does not. Then, whatever the result, return to the person you are becoming.

Tonight, one nation will celebrate long into the night. Another will wake tomorrow carrying a painful question: how do we move forward from here?

It is a question all of us eventually have to answer.

The answer is rarely dramatic. You move forward by accepting what has happened, taking responsibility for what you can learn and refusing to use one result as evidence against your entire future.

The final whistle marks the end of a match.

It does not mark the end of the story.

The Quiet Power of Making Life Simpler

Sunday 12th July 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today, Sunday 12th July, is National Simplicity Day. It is a gentle reminder that life does not always improve when we add more. Sometimes, the greatest sense of freedom comes from deciding what we no longer need to carry.

Many of us live with a constant feeling that we should be doing more, achieving more, explaining more and fixing more. I myself promote growth and adding new experiences to your life.

We fill our diaries, our homes and our minds, then wonder why we feel so tired. Complexity can make us feel productive, but it can also keep us distracted from what really matters. The key, is everything in moderation.

Simplicity begins with honesty. What deserves your energy? Which relationships bring peace rather than confusion? Which commitments reflect the person you are becoming, and which ones belong to an older version of you?

As a life coach, I often speak with people trying to change everything at once. They create complicated plans, set impossible expectations and become discouraged when they cannot maintain them. Meaningful change is usually much quieter. It might begin with one clear boundary, one honest conversation or one small promise that you consistently keep to yourself.

Simplicity is especially important in relationships. Healthy love should not require you to spend every day decoding mixed messages. You should not have to chase clarity, compete for basic attention or constantly prove that your feelings are valid. Relationships can face difficult moments, but difficulty and confusion are not the same thing. A strong relationship creates room for direct communication, mutual respect and emotional safety.

If you are moving through a breakup, simplicity can become part of your healing. Your mind may be searching for one more explanation, one more conversation or one more sign that the story is not really over. Yet healing often begins when you stop trying to solve every unanswered question. You may never understand every choice another person made, but you can still choose what happens next in your own life.

You do not need to rebuild your entire future today. You only need to take care of the next honest step. Eat something nourishing. Go outside. Contact someone who makes you feel safe. Remove one reminder that keeps reopening the wound. Allow one day to be about recovery rather than answers.

Subscribe now

There is strength in simplifying your emotional world. Notice who leaves you feeling calm and who leaves you doubting yourself. Notice which habits restore you and which ones quietly drain you. Notice how often you say yes because you are afraid of disappointing someone else.

Simplicity does not mean avoiding responsibility or becoming indifferent. It means becoming more deliberate. It means recognising that your time, attention and emotional energy are valuable, and choosing where they belong.

Today, ask yourself one question: what could I make simpler?

Perhaps the answer is your schedule. Perhaps it is the way you communicate. Perhaps it is a relationship you have been trying to rescue alone. Perhaps it is the pressure you place on yourself to have everything worked out.

You are allowed to choose peace over performance. The person who answers emails late into the evening. The friend who never takes a holiday because they’re “too needed”. The entrepreneur who proudly says they’ve been working every day for months. Society applauds productivity, but it rarely asks what that productivity is costing.

As a life coach, I’ve worked with people who genuinely believed that slowing down would mean falling behind. The problem is that work can become more than a career. It can become a distraction.

Sometimes we bury ourselves in work because it keeps us from facing uncomfortable emotions. A difficult relationship. A painful breakup. Loneliness. Anxiety. Grief. When every hour is filled with meetings, deadlines and tasks, there is very little room left to sit with ourselves.

The irony is that the emotions we avoid don’t disappear. They simply wait. They often emerge as burnout, irritability, emotional distance or a feeling that something important is missing, even when everything appears successful from the outside.

This doesn’t mean ambition is unhealthy. Far from it. Purpose is important. Meaningful work can bring confidence, fulfilment and financial security. But healthy ambition leaves room for life beyond work. Similarly, keeping yourself busy rather than focusing 24/7 on a breakup also has its benefits, but not to excess.

Subscribe now

If your career is thriving but your closest relationships are struggling, it’s worth asking whether your priorities still reflect the life you actually want. The people who matter most rarely remember how many hours you worked. They remember whether you were emotionally present when they needed you.

For anyone recovering from a breakup, work can become an especially tempting escape. Throwing yourself into your career may ease the pain for a while, but healing isn’t found by staying busy forever. Healing comes from processing what happened, learning from it and gradually rebuilding your life with intention rather than avoidance.

National Workaholics Day is a useful reminder to pause and ask yourself a few honest questions. When was the last time you switched off without feeling guilty? When did you last spend uninterrupted time with someone you love? When did you last do something simply because it brought you joy rather than because it was productive?

Success isn’t measured only by promotions, profits or packed diaries. A successful life also includes peace of mind, healthy relationships, good health and the ability to enjoy the present moment.

Today, give yourself permission to stop for a while. The work will still be there tomorrow. The moments you miss with the people you care about may not.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is close the laptop, take a deep breath and remember why you’re working so hard in the first place.

The Success Secret Nobody Talks About

Sunday 28th June 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Most people will never think twice about logistics.

We click “buy now”, expect a parcel tomorrow, fill our cupboards with food, and assume the shelves will always be stocked. We rarely stop to consider the thousands of people working behind the scenes to make all of that happen.

Today is National Logistics Day, a day that celebrates the people who keep the world moving.

It got me thinking.

Our lives aren’t that different.

Everyone wants the destination. They want the successful relationship, the promotion, the confidence, the peace after heartbreak, or the life they’ve been dreaming about. But very few people pay attention to the logistics of getting there.

The truth is that your future isn’t built by one grand gesture. It’s built by systems. Daily habits. Small decisions. Conversations. Boundaries. Rest. Showing up even when you don’t feel like it.

That’s the logistics of personal growth.

Subscribe now

When someone contacts me after a breakup, they often want one conversation that will make the pain disappear. One insight that will make their ex come back. One answer that changes everything.

I understand why.

Heartbreak makes us desperate for shortcuts.

But healing has its own logistics.

You need time. You need to process your emotions instead of suppressing them. You need to rebuild your confidence. You need to stop measuring your worth by someone else’s decision. None of these things happen overnight, but together they move you forward.

Relationships work in exactly the same way.

The happiest couples don’t rely on luck. They create routines that keep them connected. They communicate before resentment builds. They make time for each other. They solve small problems before they become big ones.

Love has logistics too.

The same is true of success in every area of life. People often admire someone else’s achievements without seeing the planning, discipline and consistency that made those achievements possible.

The visible result is only the final delivery.

The real work happened long before anyone noticed.

So today, while we recognise the people who keep our economies moving, perhaps it’s worth asking yourself another question.

What systems are moving your own life forward?

Are your daily habits taking you towards the person you want to become, or are they quietly keeping you where you are?

Because your future isn’t determined by what you hope will happen.

It’s determined by what you repeatedly do.

Small actions may not feel significant today, but over weeks, months and years, they deliver extraordinary results.

Trust the process.

Build the systems.

And let your daily logistics carry you to a life you’ll be proud of.

The Season of Your Life Is Changing (Even If You Can’t See It Yet)

Sunday 21st June 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Sunday 21st June 2026 marks the longest day of the year for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, summer has begun. The sun lingers a little longer in the sky, the evening stretches out before us, and there can be a feeling of possibility in the air. For readers in the Southern Hemisphere, today brings the opposite experience: the shortest day of the year and the arrival of the deepest point of winter. Yet wherever you are in the world, there is something powerful about these turning points in nature. They remind us that life moves in cycles, not straight lines.

As a life coach, I often hear people become frustrated when they judge their progress as though growth should be constant and uninterrupted. We live in a culture that celebrates endless productivity, continuous improvement and permanent momentum. Nature tells a different story. There are seasons of expansion and seasons of reflection. There are times when the light seems abundant and times when it feels distant. Neither is wrong. Both are necessary.

If you are experiencing your own “longest day” season right now, perhaps things are moving forward. Maybe a relationship is flourishing, a new opportunity has appeared, or you are finally beginning to feel more confident in yourself. Enjoy it. Too many people rush past the good moments because they are already worrying about what comes next. Let yourself experience the warmth and satisfaction of progress. You have earned it.

If, however, you are in a season that feels more like the shortest day of the year, I want to remind you that darkness is not permanence. As a breakup coach, I regularly work with people who believe they will never feel whole again after a painful ending. In those moments, it can seem impossible to imagine brighter days ahead. Yet just as the winter solstice quietly marks the point when daylight begins its return, healing often starts long before you can see obvious evidence of it. Small shifts matter. Tiny moments of strength matter. The fact that you are still moving forward matters.

Subscribe now

Relationships themselves follow seasons. There are periods of closeness and excitement, and there are periods that require patience, understanding and renewed effort. One of the greatest mistakes couples make is assuming that a relationship should always feel like summer. Sustainable love is built by accepting change rather than fearing it. The strongest relationships are not those that avoid difficult seasons but those that learn how to navigate them together.

Today, wherever you are, I encourage you to pause for a moment and notice the season you are currently living through. Not just the one outside your window, but the one within your life. Are you being called to act, to grow and to pursue something important? Or are you being invited to rest, reflect and gather strength for what comes next? The answer may reveal exactly what you need right now.

The longest day and the shortest day share a lesson: nothing stays the same forever. The light changes. The seasons change. Circumstances change. You change. Sometimes the greatest comfort comes from remembering that whatever season you are in today, it is not the season you will remain in forever.

The Nursery Rhyme That Reveals Why You Keep Repeating the Same Mistakes

Sunday 14th June 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today is ‘National Pop Goes The Weasel Day’, a celebration inspired by one of the most recognisable nursery rhymes in the English-speaking world. Most of us can remember hearing it as children, singing along without giving much thought to the words. Yet when you pause and reflect on it, there is something surprisingly meaningful hidden within its simple, repetitive tune.

The rhyme follows the same pattern over and over again, circling round before arriving at its memorable conclusion: “Pop goes the weasel.” That sudden interruption breaks the rhythm and changes the direction of the song. Life often works in much the same way. We find ourselves moving through familiar routines, repeating habits, having the same conversations and carrying the same thoughts. Days become weeks, weeks become months, and before we know it we are living on autopilot.

As a life coach, relationship coach and breakup coach, I often speak with people who feel trapped in a cycle they desperately want to escape. Sometimes it is a relationship that has been unhealthy for years. Sometimes it is a pattern of self-doubt that keeps them from pursuing opportunities. Sometimes it is the lingering pain of a breakup that they have never fully processed. They know something needs to change, yet they continue to walk around the same emotional mulberry bush, hoping that this time the outcome will somehow be different.

What is interesting is that significant change rarely arrives out of nowhere. The “pop” moment may seem sudden to others, but it is usually the result of weeks, months or even years of reflection. It is the accumulation of small realisations that finally reach a tipping point. The decision to leave a toxic relationship, start a new chapter, set a boundary, forgive someone or believe in yourself often appears to happen in an instant, but the groundwork was laid long before that moment arrived.

Perhaps that is why so many people fear change. There is comfort in familiarity, even when familiarity is making us unhappy. The known can feel safer than the unknown. Yet growth often begins when we become willing to interrupt the pattern. We stop accepting what no longer serves us. We question the stories we have been telling ourselves. We choose a different response instead of the usual reaction.

‘National Pop Goes The Weasel Day’ offers a light-hearted reminder that life is not meant to be an endless loop of repetition. Sometimes the most important moments are the ones that break the cycle. The unexpected conversation. The difficult decision. The honest truth. The first step in a new direction.

Subscribe now

As you reflect today, consider these questions:

Where in your life are you going around in circles?

What pattern keeps repeating itself in your relationships, your thinking or your daily habits?

What have you been tolerating simply because it feels familiar?

And perhaps most importantly, what might need to “pop” for you to move forward?

The answer does not need to lead to a dramatic life change tomorrow. Reflection is valuable because it creates awareness, and awareness is where transformation begins. The more clearly you can see your patterns, the more power you have to change them.

So today, while ‘National Pop Goes The Weasel Day’ may seem like a bit of fun, perhaps it also serves as a gentle reminder. If you want a different outcome, there comes a point when you must stop walking in circles and choose a new path. Sometimes the smallest shift in direction can create the biggest change in your future. And sometimes, that change begins with a single moment when the old pattern finally gives way.

Pop goes the weasel. Pop goes the excuse. Pop goes the fear. Pop goes the belief that things can never be different.

What might be ready to pop in your life today?

If you feel you could benefit from life coaching, relationship coaching or breakup coaching, check out my website for details on my audio coaching service 📞

Stay positive,

Your life coach,

Vincent

If You Feel My Content Has Helped You, Please Consider Buying Me A Coffee ☕️

Most People Won’t Do This Today

Sunday 7th June 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today is World Caring Day, a reminder that some of the most meaningful things we do in life are often the simplest. In a world that moves quickly and demands so much of our attention, caring can sometimes feel like a forgotten skill. Yet caring remains one of the most powerful ways to strengthen relationships, support others and improve our own wellbeing.

As a life coach, relationship coach and breakup coach, I often hear of people giving endless care to everyone around them whilst neglecting themselves. They listen, support, encourage and sacrifice, but rarely stop to ask whether they are receiving the same care in return. Genuine caring should never require you to lose yourself. Healthy relationships are built on mutual care, not one-sided effort.

This is particularly important after a breakup. Many people believe that healing means stopping yourself from caring about your ex. In reality, healing is not about becoming indifferent. It is about learning that you can care about someone without sacrificing your peace for them. You can wish them well whilst choosing yourself. You can appreciate what you shared whilst continuing to move forward.

World Caring Day is also a reminder that the relationship you have with yourself influences every other relationship in your life. The way you speak to yourself, the boundaries you set and the standards you maintain all shape the quality of your connections. Self-care is not selfish. It is the foundation that allows you to care for others without becoming exhausted or resentful.

Subscribe now

So today I have a simple challenge for you.

Before the day ends, reach out to someone and ask how they are really doing (not your ex). Offer one act of kindness without expecting recognition. Spend ten minutes doing something that supports your own wellbeing. Then, before you go to sleep tonight, write down three things you appreciate about yourself.

It won’t take long, but it might change someone’s day, including your own.

The truth is that caring is not measured by grand gestures. It is measured by small moments of compassion, understanding and presence. A thoughtful message, a listening ear, a kind word or a little more patience can have a bigger impact than we realise.

Today, choose to care for someone else.

Just don’t forget to care for yourself as well.

30 Minutes of Silence Can Change Your Life

Sunday 31st May 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today is National Save Your Hearing Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about protecting one of our most valuable senses. Most people immediately think about loud concerts, headphones turned up too high, or years of exposure to noise. Whilst these are certainly important considerations, I believe there is another kind of hearing that deserves our attention today.

As a life coach, relationship coach and breakup coach, I have noticed that many of the struggles people face are not caused by what they hear, but by what they stop hearing.

We live in an incredibly noisy world. Our phones compete for our attention. Social media tells us how we should think, feel and live. Friends, family, colleagues and even strangers offer opinions about what we should do next. Over time, all of that noise can drown out the most important voice of all: our own.

How often have you ignored a feeling because it was inconvenient? How often have you dismissed your intuition because you wanted a different outcome? How often have you heard yourself say, “Something doesn’t feel right,” only to continue anyway?

Many people can trace significant heartbreaks, relationship problems and life regrets back to a moment when they stopped listening to themselves.

Perhaps you stayed in a relationship long after you knew it had run its course. Perhaps you ignored warning signs because you hoped things would improve. Perhaps you sacrificed your needs so often that you lost sight of what those needs actually were.

The truth is that our inner voice rarely shouts. It whispers.

Subscribe now

It whispers when someone repeatedly crosses a boundary.

It whispers when a relationship feels one-sided.

It whispers when we’re exhausted, overwhelmed or unhappy.

It whispers when we’re settling for less than we deserve.

The problem is that whispers are easy to miss when life is loud.

This is particularly true after a breakup. Many people become so focused on what their ex is thinking, feeling or doing that they completely lose touch with themselves. They analyse every message, every social media update and every interaction, searching for answers.

Meanwhile, the most important conversation is being neglected.

The conversation with themselves.

Healing often begins when you stop listening exclusively to the noise outside of you and start paying attention to the wisdom within you.

What do you need right now?

What have you been avoiding?

What truth have you been trying not to hear?

These questions can feel uncomfortable, but they are often the gateway to growth.

National Save Your Hearing Day reminds us that hearing is precious. Once damaged, it can be difficult to restore. The same is true of our relationship with ourselves. A kind message. A quiet instinct. A pattern we have ignored. A friend who keeps showing up. A part of ourselves that has been waiting patiently to be found again.

As a life and relationship coach, I often hear people searching for certainty in another person. After a breakup, especially, the hunt can become painful. We look for answers in old conversations, social media, memories, and “what ifs”. But healing begins when we stop searching outside ourselves for closure and start noticing what life is trying to show us within.

Today, let this be your gentle invitation to go on a different kind of scavenger hunt. Look for one sign that you are stronger than you were. Look for one moment of peace. Look for one thing you still love about yourself. Look for one clue that your next chapter is already beginning.

Say it out loud. Write it down to remind yourself.

You may not find every answer today, but you might find yourself. And that is always worth the search.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

The Surprising Relationship Lesson Hidden in ‘Ride a Unicycle Day’

Sunday 17th May 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today is the unusual sounding day of ‘Ride a Unicycle Day’. It might sound random, but it reminds me how uncomfortable growth can look from the outside.

Nobody climbs onto a unicycle and appears graceful straight away. There is wobbling, overcorrecting, embarrassment, and the strong temptation to step down and pretend it was never attempted. In that sense, it is a rather perfect image for healing after a breakup, learning to trust again, or trying to build a steadier relationship with yourself.

Balance is not stillness. It is constant adjustment. We often imagine that a confident person has somehow stopped wobbling, but that is rarely true. They have simply learnt how to respond to the wobble without panicking. The same is true in love. The same is true in life. The same is true when your heart has been knocked sideways and you are trying to find your centre again.

Subscribe now

After a breakup, people often want certainty before they move. They want to know they will not fall, that they will not miss their ex, that they will not have lonely evenings, that the next person will be safe. But confidence usually arrives after movement, not before it. You regain balance by gently returning to yourself, again and again, even when it feels awkward.

In relationships, too, balance matters. Too much leaning can become dependence. Too much distance can become protection dressed up as independence. Healthy love asks us to keep adjusting, communicating, listening, and noticing when we are tipping too far in one direction.

So today, perhaps the invitation is simple. Do not wait until you feel perfectly balanced before you begin. Take the next small movement. Let it be ungainly. Let it be human. You are not failing because you wobble.

You are learning how to ride.

Why Your Gut Feeling Is Usually Right

Sunday 10th May 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Today, I want to invite you back to that quiet voice inside you. Not the anxious one. Not the wounded one. Not the one trying to win someone back, prove a point, or avoid disappointment. I mean the deeper voice. The one that usually speaks softly, but honestly.

In life coaching, I often speak with people who already know the truth before they say it aloud. They know the job is draining them. They know the relationship has become too one-sided. They know the apology they are waiting for may never come. But knowing is not always the same as trusting.

In relationships, intuition is often the first place we abandon ourselves. We feel the distance, the shift, the inconsistency, but then we explain it away because we want love to be simple. After a breakup, intuition can feel even harder to hear because grief is loud. You may mistake longing for a sign, or fear for wisdom. That is why learning to trust yourself again is not just emotional healing, it is self-respect.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is believing intuition should feel dramatic. Most of the time, it feels calm. It is the quiet discomfort that keeps returning. It is the hesitation before saying yes to something that does not sit right. It is the exhaustion you feel after spending time with someone who constantly takes more than they give. Your intuition often arrives before your logical mind catches up.

If you have been ignoring your instincts for a long time, start small. Pay attention to your body. Notice when you feel tense, uneasy, drained, or emotionally unsafe around certain people. Notice when you feel peaceful, grounded, and able to be yourself. Your nervous system keeps score long before your mind creates explanations.

I also want to say this clearly: intuition is not paranoia. Intuition does not push you into panic or obsession. It does not demand that you overanalyse every text message or stalk someone’s social media looking for hidden meaning. Healthy intuition creates clarity, not chaos. Fear creates urgency. Intuition creates awareness.

For those recovering from heartbreak, trusting your intuition again can feel frightening because somewhere along the way you stopped trusting your own judgement. Maybe you ignored red flags. Maybe you stayed too long. Maybe you gave endless chances hoping love would eventually be returned in the way you needed. But hindsight is not there to shame you. It is there to teach you. Growth begins the moment you stop punishing yourself for what you did not know at the time.

Subscribe now

A powerful exercise for today is this: think about a moment in your life when your intuition was right. Perhaps you sensed a relationship would not last. Perhaps you knew an opportunity was wrong for you despite how attractive it looked on paper. Perhaps you felt drawn towards a decision that eventually changed your life for the better. Remind yourself that your inner voice has guided you before.

Then ask yourself one honest question: where in my life am I currently ignoring what I already know?

Do not rush to answer it. Sit with it. Journal on it. Walk with it. Your intuition rarely responds well to pressure, but it responds beautifully to stillness.

And finally, remember this. Trusting your intuition does not mean you will never make mistakes. It means you stop abandoning yourself in order to keep other people comfortable. It means learning that peace is a better guide than approval. It means recognising that your life becomes far more aligned when you stop searching outside yourself for constant permission.

The more you trust yourself, the less confusing life becomes.

The Day You’re “Not Supposed” to Laugh… Might Be Exactly When You Need It Most

Sunday 3rd May 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Laughter is not a denial of pain. It is a small act of rebellion against the idea that pain gets to have the final word.

As a life coach, relationship coach and breakup coach, I often speak with people at the point where laughter has disappeared. Life feels heavy. Love feels complicated. A breakup can make even ordinary days feel strangely colourless. And when someone says, “I just want to feel like myself again,” what they often mean is, “I want to laugh without forcing it.”

World Laughter Day is a gentle reminder that joy is not something we earn only after everything is fixed. Sometimes it is something we practise while we are still healing.

In relationships, laughter can be a bridge. It softens tension, brings perspective, and reminds two people that they are not only problem-solvers or co-managers of life, but human beings who once found delight in each other. In breakups, laughter can feel almost disloyal at first, as though smiling means the love did not matter. But it did matter. And still, you are allowed to laugh again.

Subscribe now

There is something deeply hopeful about the first genuine laugh after a difficult season. It does not mean you are over everything. It means there is still life moving through you.

So today, let yourself be a little lighter. Watch something silly. Call the friend who makes you laugh inappropriately at the worst possible moments. Remember a ridiculous story. Laugh at the version of you who thought you had to have everything worked out by now.

Healing is not always solemn. Sometimes it sounds like laughter returning to a room you thought had gone quiet forever.

26.2 Miles of Truth: The Brutal Lesson Most People Ignore About Healing 🏃

Sunday 26th April 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Sunday 26th April 2026 is the day of the London Marathon and once again, this city becomes a living, breathing metaphor for endurance.

From the early morning air in Greenwich through to the long, emotional stretch along the Embankment and finally down The Mall, thousands of people will take on 26.2 miles. Some will glide. Many will struggle. All of them will be changed by the simple act of continuing when stopping would feel easier.

What strikes me every year is not the spectacle, but the honesty of it. A marathon does not allow you to pretend. Somewhere along the route, usually when the body starts negotiating with the mind, the truth arrives: this is hard, and I have to decide who I am in the middle of that difficulty.

And that, in many ways, is exactly what we face in our lives and relationships.

As a life coach, I often speak with people at mile 18 of their own story, not at the beginning, full of excitement, but deep into something that has become exhausting. In relationships, this might be the point where communication has worn thin, where resentment has quietly built, where both people are wondering if they still have the strength to continue. In breakups, it is the stage after the initial shock, when the reality settles in and the question becomes not “why did this happen?” but “how do I move forward from here?”

There is a temptation to treat these moments like sprints. To rush healing. To force clarity. To demand that the pain ends quickly so life can return to something comfortable. But emotional endurance, much like a marathon, does not respond well to urgency. It asks for patience. It asks for pacing. It asks for honesty.

Watch the runners today and you will notice something important: they are not doing it alone. There are crowds calling their names, strangers offering encouragement, friends and family holding signs that say “keep going” in a hundred different ways. Even the strongest runners draw something from that support.

Yet in our emotional lives, we often try to do the opposite. We withdraw. We isolate. We convince ourselves that we should be able to handle everything quietly, privately, independently. Particularly after a breakup, there can be this instinct to disappear with the pain, as though asking for support somehow diminishes our strength.

It does not.

Subscribe now

If anything, it is the willingness to be seen, to admit that something matters, that something hurts, that something is taking time, that builds real resilience.

There is also another truth the marathon reveals, one that people do not talk about enough. Finishing is not always about feeling strong. Often, it is about refusing to stop on a day when stopping would make perfect sense. It is about continuing with tired legs, with doubt, with discomfort. It is about progress that is slower than you would like, but still progress nonetheless.

This is exactly how healing works.

You will not always feel like you are moving forward. Some days will feel like setbacks. Some days will feel heavier than the ones before. But if you are still showing up, still reflecting, still learning, still choosing not to go back to what broke you, then you are further along than you think.

So as London fills with cheers, footsteps, and quiet acts of determination today, take a moment to consider your own marathon. Not the one that looks impressive from the outside, but the one that has required something real from you on the inside.

Maybe it is rebuilding after a relationship ended. Maybe it is trying to reconnect with someone you love. Maybe it is simply learning how to be okay in your own company again.

Whatever it is, you do not need to have it all figured out. You do not need to be at the finish line. You only need to keep going.

And if today gives you anything, let it be this: endurance is not about speed, and it is not about perfection. It is about staying in the race long enough to become someone stronger than the person who started it.

Your Heart Needs 'Go Fly a Kite Day'

Sunday 19th April 2026

Vincent Bos - Life Coach

Hi Everyone,

Please have a quick listen to my voice message before reading today’s article :)

There is something wonderfully defiant about ‘Go Fly a Kite Day’ landing today, on Sunday 19th April. At first glance it sounds light, playful, even a little childish, but I think that is exactly why it matters. So many adults have forgotten how to do anything unless it is productive, strategic or leading somewhere measurable. We have become experts at carrying tension and novices at releasing it. A kite offers a quiet lesson: not everything valuable has to be heavy. Sometimes healing begins the moment you allow a little colour, a little wind and a little silliness back into your life.

As a life coach, I often speak to people who are exhausted not only because life is hard, but because they are gripping everything too tightly. They are trying to control outcomes, conversations, feelings and futures that simply will not be controlled. Flying a kite only works when you understand this balance. You hold the line, yes, but you also have to let the wind do its part. That is true in life as well. There is a difference between being responsible and being rigid. The people who find peace are not always the ones trying hardest; often they are the ones who have learnt when to loosen their grip.

In relationships, this matters even more. Love cannot thrive under constant pressure. If you are always monitoring, analysing and bracing for disappointment, the connection starts to feel less like freedom and more like management. Healthy love needs space. It needs trust. It needs the confidence to let the other person breathe without assuming distance means danger. A kite stays in the sky not because it is clutched in panic, but because there is tension and freedom working together. That is a beautiful model for emotional closeness. The strongest relationships are not built on possession. They are built on secure connection.

Subscribe now

For anyone going through heartbreak, this day carries a different kind of message. After a breakup, many people hold on to what was with white knuckles. They replay old conversations, stalk old memories, and keep tugging at something that is no longer meant to stay in their hands. I understand that urge. When someone mattered deeply, letting go can feel like betrayal. But healing is not betrayal. Sometimes recovery asks you to release the fantasy, the unfinished story, or the version of the person you hoped they would become. You do not let go because it did not matter. You let go because you matter too.

There is also something important in the image of standing under an open sky. When you are stuck in grief, anxiety or emotional confusion, your world can become very small. You live inside your own head, circling the same thoughts, the same fears, the same regrets. A kite invites your gaze upward. It changes your posture. It reminds you there is still space above this moment, and movement beyond it. That is not a trivial thing. Sometimes the first step out of emotional pain is not a breakthrough conversation or a perfect insight. Sometimes it is a small physical act that reconnects you with possibility.

So on Sunday 19th April, I would encourage you to treat ‘Go Fly a Kite Day’ as more than a novelty. Let it be a reminder that life is not just about endurance. It is also about lift. Let it remind you that control is overrated, that joy is restorative, and that not everything meaningful has to be serious. If you are in a loving relationship, give each other room to breathe. If you are healing from heartbreak, loosen your grip on what is gone. If you have simply been carrying too much for too long, step outside and let the wind teach you something. Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is stop dragging your pain across the ground and allow part of yourself to rise.
