The man said something along the lines of:

When you finally get to a place you once prayed for and waited for, don’t become so busy looking for what’s next that you forget to enjoy where you are.

And it struck me.

Because how often do we actually do this?

We pray for something. We wait for it. We imagine how life would feel when we finally have it.

Sometimes we even tell ourselves:

“If I can just get here I’ll be satisfied.”

Then we get there.

And somehow our eyes are already somewhere else.

A better job. More money. A better relationship. Another achievement. Another level.

The strange part is that we don’t always notice it happening.

What once felt extraordinary slowly becomes normal.

The thing that once made us say Alhamdulillah becomes part of our everyday life. Then we start looking for something else to give us that same feeling.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting more.

Growth requires it sometimes. Ambition isn’t a bad thing. Wanting a better life isn’t either.

But there’s a difference between wanting more and never appreciating what you already have.

Because if we’re not careful we can spend our whole lives arriving and immediately leaving.

We finally get what we prayed for and start thinking about the next thing.

Then we get that too.

And we do it again.

Until years have passed and we barely notice that some of those years contained things our younger selves were desperately asking Allah for.

That part honestly scares me.

Imagine the version of you from five years ago seeing your life today.

Would they be grateful?

Would they even believe you if you told them this is where you ended up?

Maybe we need to get better at recognising our answered prayers.

Not every good thing has to become a stepping stone to something else.

Sometimes you can just sit with it.

Enjoy the conversation.

Enjoy the little money you can spend without fear.

Enjoy the opportunity you once begged for.

Enjoy being where you are.

Then move again when it’s time.

I think there’s something beautiful about ambition that knows when to pause.

The goal isn’t to stop wanting more.

it’s to want more without making what you already have feel like less.

Maybe gratitude isn’t only being thankful for what you have.

Maybe it’s being conscious enough to recognize when you’re standing inside something you once prayed for.

“Money makes you a better person.”

The first few times I saw it I actually agreed.

It sounded right. Money makes life easier. It gives you access to things and allows you to do things you couldn’t do before.

So for a while I accepted it as simply true.

But because of the kind of person I am I couldn’t just leave it there.

I like sitting with ideas. So I kept thinking about that statement and the more I did the more I noticed something.

We’ve somehow mixed money with character.

And those are two completely different things.

When we say someone is a better person what are we really talking about?

Character.

How they behave. How they treat people. How kind or responsible they are.

So when we say money makes someone better I think we sometimes confuse what money allows a person to do with who that person actually is.

Money improves your capacity to act.

There’s a difference.

Someone can be naturally generous but constantly broke. They may genuinely want to help someone but simply not have the means to do it.

Then they get money and suddenly they’re helping people more.

We look at that and say:

“Money made this person better.”

But did it?

Maybe money simply gave them the ability to express something that was already there.

I think about this because I’ve experienced it too.

There are things money has allowed me to do that I couldn’t have done without it. Especially in Nigeria where lack of money can affect almost every part of your life.

Sometimes you don’t lack the heart.

You lack the resources.

Sometimes you’re not unwilling.

You simply cannot.

And after experiencing that for long enough it becomes easy to start seeing money as the answer to everything.

But I still think we’re mixing two things that shouldn’t be mixed.

Give a generous person money and you may see more generosity.

Give a selfish person money and you may simply give them more room to be selfish.

Give a responsible person money and they may become more capable.

Give an irresponsible person money and you may just give their irresponsibility a bigger budget.

Money can amplify what is already there.

That’s probably the part I’ve been trying to understand all these months.

I’m not saying the statement is completely wrong.

I’m saying we should be more careful about what we mean when we say it.

Money can change your circumstances.

It can change your options.

It can change what you’re able to do.

But whether it makes you a better person still comes down to something money cannot buy automatically.

Maybe money doesn’t make us better.

Maybe it simply gives us more room to show who we already are.

And honestly I believed it.

Not because I wanted to believe it. It was based on some things I had observed and experiences that seemed to support it.

But August changed that belief for me.

I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed with understanding women, but I’ve always found the nature of women very interesting. I like observing them and trying to understand why people behave the way they do. This month I came across something that changed the way I looked at this.

I realized that women don’t necessarily love being lied to.

Sometimes people simply prefer an attractive possibility over an uncomfortable reality. Especially when that possibility gives them something they deeply desire.

The part I found most interesting is that sometimes both people know what is happening. The person telling the story knows he is exaggerating. The person listening may even know it isn’t completely realistic. Yet they both participate in the fantasy because of what it represents.

And I think that’s where I got it wrong.

I was looking at the lie when I should have been looking at what the lie represented.

Maybe people don’t always choose lies over the truth.

Sometimes they just struggle to accept a truth that doesn’t look like the reality they hoped for.

That realization explained a lot of things I didn’t understand before.

But it left me with another question:

Why does an attractive version of reality sometimes receive more acceptance than reality itself when presented honestly?

Maybe it isn’t always about wanting to be lied to.

Maybe we are simply attracted to possibility.

Sometimes we don’t respond only to what something is. We respond to what we believe it could become.

And maybe that’s why fantasy is so powerful.

So I’m no longer asking:

“Why do women love to be lied to?”

I’m asking:

“Why does the reality we desire sometimes feel more acceptable than the reality we actually have?”

Maybe that question has very little to do with women.

Maybe it says something about us as humans.

That line won’t leave my head. It’s almost too simple, which is why it sticks.

“You don’t beat a child and tell him how to cry.”

The kind of sentence that sounds almost casual, like something an old man says quietly while peeling orange under a tree… meanwhile it’s exposing an entire human behavior problem.

I came across the line on WhatsApp and honestly, it refused to leave my mind after that.

Because when you really sit with it, the meaning is uncomfortable.

You can’t be the source of someone’s pain and still expect to control how they react to it.

But humans do this all the time.

They hurt people.

Betray them.

Embarrass them.

Disappoint them.

Then suddenly become the manager of the victim’s emotions.

Why are you angry?.

You’re overreacting.

Move on.

Act mature.

And sometimes I genuinely wonder what people mean when they say maturity.

Because how do you create the wound, then become uncomfortable when the bleeding becomes visible?

It’s strange how people want pain to be quiet, neat, and emotionally convenient for them.

Maybe guilt makes humans defensive in ways they don’t even notice.

Human beings are honestly complicated when you observe deeply.

And again, credit to who dropped the line:

“You don’t beat a child and tell him how to cry.”

Some thoughts are simple, but once they enter your mind properly, they expose entire realities.

I spend a lot of time thinking about human behavior, emotional contradictions, and the quiet ways people reveal themselves without realizing it.

Wallahi… it made me pause.

Not really because of the question, but because of how people see it.

Immediately, one thing just settled in my heart  Allah is the best of all creators his wisdom isn’t random, and nothing He allows is without meaning.

Because this is something already made clear in the Qur’an:

Marry women of your choice, two, three, or four but if you fear that you will not be just, then marry only one… (Qur’an 4:3)

So it’s not confusion… it’s guidance.

The real weight is not in the permission, but in the Justice and responsibility that comes with it.

But honestly, there’s something else I’ve noticed over time…

It feels like women are naturally drawn to men who already have structure in their lives men who are grounded, men who are responsible, men who are already leading in some way.

I can’t fully explain it…

I just believe it’s something Allah places in the heart.

Maybe it’s not even about having many women…

Maybe it’s about presence, Stability and direction.

At the end of the day, I’ve come to accept something

Not everything is for me to fully understand.

But everything from Allah carries wisdom.

So I don’t argue it and I don’t stress myself trying to figure it all out…

I just trust Him.

Because whatever Allah has written will always be better than anything we try to reason on our own.

I spend a lot of time thinking about human behavior, faith, and the quiet ways divine wisdom shapes the way people see life.

What actually made me think about this was something simple. I was just scrolling through TikTok when I came across a video of a woman speaking confidently, saying that women are superior to men. That word superior really surprised me. I had to pause for a moment. Superior?

She started giving examples to back up her point, but the more I listened, the more it felt like the conversation was turning into a competition instead of an understanding. And that’s where I disagreed not just with what she was saying, but with the whole angle of it.

Yes, men and women are born the same way, through the same process, and as human beings our worth is equal. But the rules that guide our lives and the roles we are expected to play are not the same. Those differences don’t reduce anyone’s value they define responsibility.

I see it like football  you have a striker and a defender. They’re on the same team chasing the same goal, but they don’t play the same position. Their duties are different, their expectations are different. One isn’t superior to the other they’re both needed for the team to win.

That’s how I see men and women. Equal in worth, but not equal in role. Once the conversation shifts from balance to superiority, we miss the point. Difference was never meant to divide us it was meant to make us whole.
