In July I did a painting a day for World watercolor Month. It’s a fun art challenge I do every year and it is always so fun to look back on later. I posted a sketchbook (heck, who are we kidding, sketchbooks, random papers, bookmarks…) flip through on my YouTube channel and you can see it here!

I know I haven’t been regular with newsletter or blog posts this summer. I had a very busy work year so I have been taking time to paint outdoors, spend time with friends, garden and learn how to master cooking outdoor wood fired pizzas. Aren’t hobbies the best? I will open the drawers and show you how I am storing a lot of my supplies and why I chose the things I did. Moving from a basement art area to a warmer space with natural light is great for me, but I did have to take some consideration with certain products, and that is what I will go into during the video.

I have been making YouTube videos for 16 years and have over 3,800 published videos on the platform. I am so thankful to be able to work above ground in the daylight with heat and running water. Just a quick note, tomorrow at noon, we will paint the March watercolor calendar page, or you can paint in your sketchbook, or a loose sheet of paper if you prefer. I always remember my 1st grade teacher telling us that March comes in like a lion but goes out like a lamb. I was always ready to show winter the door, so this saying stuck in my mind. Also, with Easter around the corner, I thought that many people would enjoy painting a sweet baby lamb.

I found these two reference photos. I’m not sure which I will do for the calender but I think we might be able to paint both! Maybe one as a warm-up and one on the page, so have an extra piece of paper just in case we get ambitious!

I have spent most of my time the last couple of weeks moving stuff to the new space, and the agonizing task of deciding what to keep. I have to say it’s easier to decide to part with something when keeping it means carrying it up 2 flights of stairs! I am so happy with the space and the heat, water, and light I have here. Once I have it fully set up, I will film a studio tour. Here are a few sneak peeks:

I have done a few projects up here, and I love the space. I sewed new curtains on Sunday, and today I filmed a project for Critique Club. It’s up now if you want to check it out!
